- 0:18Speaker 3: to be rich in life. And today we are joined
- 0:20Speaker 3: by the beautiful Chantelle Mila Ibit's in.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Hi, Oh my Gosh the show if you don't know her.
- 0:27Speaker 3: She's also known as Mamma Mila on Instagram, which is
- 0:31Speaker 3: how we've been saying. Yeah, where like being like, oh yeah, cool,
- 0:37Speaker 3: what times Mamamla coming in?
- 0:41Speaker 4: I just wanted you to be in on it. Yeah,
- 0:42Speaker 4: I don't want to.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I didn't want to keep any secrets between us.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Now they're all best friends, obvious.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Like you made it weird.
- 0:49Speaker 4: I hate it here, like this is so fun. I've
- 0:52Speaker 4: got to go.
- 0:53Speaker 3: No, but we're going to be talking all things affordable,
- 0:56Speaker 3: tips to be an organized queen because you Saul is
- 1:00Speaker 3: like foaming at the mouth for this, because Saul also
- 1:03Speaker 3: loves cleaning and organization and I need to learn everything
- 1:06Speaker 3: I can on it because I do love it, but
- 1:10Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Necessarily act on it.
- 1:11Speaker 3: You love it from afar, Yeah, because I need to
- 1:14Speaker 3: bring that love into practical passion.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Let's say that I like that practical passion.
- 1:19Speaker 3: However, we do start our episodes with our life lesson
- 1:21Speaker 3: of the week, So would you like to kick us
- 1:23Speaker 3: off as our guest of honor?
- 1:24Speaker 6: Yes, so my life lesson. So last week, all week before,
- 1:29Speaker 6: I just got a new iPhone and during the process,
- 1:33Speaker 6: if you know, to just transferring like Stato cross. It
- 1:36Speaker 6: was completely my fault, but I lost a whole heap
- 1:40Speaker 6: of stuff like in a transfer process. Again, it's totally
- 1:44Speaker 6: on me, but I did. And then that kicked me
- 1:47Speaker 6: off into like this thing of like, Okay, I need
- 1:50Speaker 6: to get organized in my like digital world. I'm very
- 1:55Speaker 6: organized in my otherwise like.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah, physical cool world, yeah, but like.
- 2:00Speaker 6: The digital side of things. So it started off by like, okay,
- 2:03Speaker 6: making sure everything's backed up, making sure you know, my
- 2:05Speaker 6: cloud whatever auto backup is on, all of that kind
- 2:08Speaker 6: of stuff. But then it went into like subscriptions, going
- 2:12Speaker 6: through my subscriptions, what am I doubling up on? I
- 2:15Speaker 6: was doubling up on a lot. So like, for example,
- 2:19Speaker 6: there was you know, TV subscriptions, like I was subscribed
- 2:24Speaker 6: to banch and I was also subscribed to Hate You
- 2:26Speaker 6: but I was watching like the same show Housewives, but
- 2:30Speaker 6: it was like I was watching some episodes. Yeah, just decluttering.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah, doing your digital life a digital de clutter hits
- 2:39Speaker 3: so good. There's also this app called the Swipe Wipe app,
- 2:43Speaker 3: and it's basically like Tinder for your photos. So you
- 2:47Speaker 3: can just like pull in the month, right, and you
- 2:51Speaker 3: just go through and you swipe left to like mas
- 2:53Speaker 3: delete the photos, and then you swipe right if you
- 2:56Speaker 3: want to keep the photo. So like for all the
- 2:57Speaker 3: like fifty selfies you've taken, and there's like the one
- 3:00Speaker 3: that you liked, it like helps you declutter all those
- 3:03Speaker 3: picks or all the screenshots that you don't use that
- 3:05Speaker 3: you were like, yeah, I definitely need that, and then
- 3:07Speaker 3: you've never looked at it again, right, and then at
- 3:10Speaker 3: the end of the month, it will like show you
- 3:12Speaker 3: be like delete three hundred and four photos and it's
- 3:14Speaker 3: literally the best thing ever.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Like I love it, and it's good.
- 3:18Speaker 3: When you're on like a plane, like you've got like
- 3:21Speaker 3: a long flight, I'll just like sit and just start
- 3:23Speaker 3: going through photos.
- 3:25Speaker 1: We all take like a thousand photos of the same
- 3:29Speaker 1: thing and have so many screenshots, and I'm like, I
- 3:32Speaker 1: will never look at these again.
- 3:34Speaker 6: No, And that's one thing I did. I went through, like,
- 3:36Speaker 6: is my screenshots folder? Yeah, just some random stuff in there.
- 3:40Speaker 6: I'm like, why do I screenshot this?
- 3:41Speaker 4: Why do I think I ever needed this?
- 3:43Speaker 2: But I was like, this is a keepsake, I need this. Okay,
- 3:47Speaker 2: what's your south? Okay.
- 3:48Speaker 1: My life lesson of the week is a trend that
- 3:51Speaker 1: I've seen on tik tak and it's called acts of
- 3:54Speaker 1: micro feminism. Oh yes, yeah, and I just love it
- 4:00Speaker 1: so so good.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And it's basically like little acts of.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Feminism that you can do throughout your day to try
- 4:06Speaker 1: and regain the power and regain the equality between men
- 4:12Speaker 1: and women. But some of the examples that people share
- 4:15Speaker 1: are you know, actually quite powerful. But then all of
- 4:18Speaker 1: my favorite.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Ones are really silly.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 1: So for example, one of my favorites is like approaching
- 4:26Speaker 1: men or greeting men and being like.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Hey girl, or like hey honey, hey princess. I love it,
- 4:34Speaker 4: and you always see them and be like, yeah, they
- 4:36Speaker 4: don't know what to do. Yeah, and it's just the best.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I feel like. I call a lot of like my
- 4:40Speaker 5: male friends pooky.
- 4:41Speaker 4: Yes, pooky time.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And it's not even to like put them down. It's
- 4:47Speaker 1: like a genuine term of endearment. But I'm like, well
- 4:49Speaker 1: that's how I speak to all my female friends like
- 4:52Speaker 1: that in here, come here, pooky.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah, my life lesson is to not trust Rotten Tomatoes.
- 5:02Speaker 5: So obviously sometimes we can.
- 5:05Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 5:05Speaker 3: But Sal and I watch the most stupid movie the
- 5:09Speaker 3: other night. Our friend recommended this movie to us, and
- 5:11Speaker 3: I was like, I.
- 5:12Speaker 4: Don't know, Oh my god.
- 5:15Speaker 5: We were peeing our pants laughing, like it was just
- 5:17Speaker 5: so funny.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It was so stupid.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And then we looked up the Rotten Tomatoes score and
- 5:20Speaker 3: it's like twenty percent. And I was like, if we
- 5:22Speaker 3: had looked that up before we went to watch this
- 5:26Speaker 3: movie that our friend recommended us, we probably wouldn't have
- 5:28Speaker 3: watched it. But I was like, you know what, sometimes
- 5:32Speaker 3: just give it a red hot crack. I think so
- 5:34Speaker 3: many of my favorite movies have really bad reviews.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and I'm okay with that.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it probably says a lot about our taste.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Literally, I'm like, what do you mean New York Minute
- 5:43Speaker 1: isn't one hundred percent on Rotten Tomatoes or food.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Okay, Well, now that we've got our life lessons out
- 5:50Speaker 3: of the way, let's get into the episode. Okay, So
- 5:58Speaker 3: for anyone renting, what's your three hacks to make your
- 6:01Speaker 3: space feel more like a home.
- 6:03Speaker 6: So when I think about a home, it's how it
- 6:07Speaker 6: feels like when you come home after a really busy day.
- 6:09Speaker 6: You've just finished work, just gone to the gym, whatever
- 6:12Speaker 6: you've done, and then you come home, how does it feel.
- 6:15Speaker 6: So it's about tapping into like the senses, like the
- 6:18Speaker 6: sensory kind of aspect of things. So if you're coming
- 6:20Speaker 6: home and you live in a rental, there are certain
- 6:25Speaker 6: ways that you can kind of add those kind of
- 6:26Speaker 6: sensory elements into it. So one is by smell, so
- 6:31Speaker 6: either you know, getting your favorite candle or what I
- 6:34Speaker 6: love to do is called like a stovetop popery. So
- 6:37Speaker 6: it's like taking a pot, putting it on your stovetop,
- 6:41Speaker 6: putting some water in it, and then adding your own
- 6:43Speaker 6: fragrance into it, so like lemons or clove vanilla, and
- 6:49Speaker 6: just boiling that on your stovetop to like create this
- 6:51Speaker 6: really beautiful smelling environment. My gosh, I love that, so
- 6:56Speaker 6: so so good. There's one that's like William Sonoma fragrance.
- 7:01Speaker 6: So that one is lemon, rosemary, clove and vanilla.
- 7:06Speaker 2: That sounds lush.
- 7:07Speaker 6: It is so good.
- 7:08Speaker 4: I would probably try to drink it.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Swell so good literally probably could actually.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I was like, that's it's proper eat.
- 7:24Speaker 6: The other one is like the feeling like so softening
- 7:27Speaker 6: your linen, softening your throats, creating that really like beautiful
- 7:32Speaker 6: warm environment in your home. So yeah, cozy, so really simple.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Get some bike Ups soda, one cup of bike Up
- 7:40Speaker 6: soda in the wash, with your linen, with your throws,
- 7:42Speaker 6: with your cushions, help soften them. And again just a
- 7:47Speaker 6: really like easy way to make your home feel beautiful.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I love that.
- 7:51Speaker 3: The other one I do love is lighting, Like never
- 7:55Speaker 3: use a big light. The big light is banned in
- 7:58Speaker 3: my home.
- 7:59Speaker 6: And my spin went out the other day and replaced
- 8:03Speaker 6: our like main living room light with cool light bulbs.
- 8:07Speaker 6: I was like, straight to jail, robs.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Straight and I'm so sad to hear you guys are breaking.
- 8:11Speaker 6: Up seriously ten years of marriage, Like that was the final.
- 8:17Speaker 4: I was like, what did you do?
- 8:19Speaker 6: He was like, isn't cool? White?
- 8:20Speaker 4: The warm one?
- 8:21Speaker 6: I was like, it's cool?
- 8:22Speaker 4: What?
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah, what got lost in translation here?
- 8:27Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, but yeah, no, lighting is very important
- 8:31Speaker 3: for me. And I definitely think I got this from
- 8:33Speaker 3: my mom, who like would have like all of her
- 8:36Speaker 3: candles burning and then like ambient lighting of like the lamps,
- 8:40Speaker 3: and I'd come down at like ten thirty one in
- 8:43Speaker 3: snack and be like hitting all the lamp, hitting all
- 8:45Speaker 3: the lights, and Mom would be like, you're ruining my
- 8:48Speaker 3: arm beyond my Yeah, but no, And if you want
- 8:51Speaker 3: to do it, you can just get those like smart
- 8:53Speaker 3: bolts that you can get them on like seven bucks
- 8:56Speaker 3: for like seven bucks on the interweb, yeah, the internet,
- 9:00Speaker 3: that was like, and you can control them with an
- 9:03Speaker 3: app on your phone, and it just means that you
- 9:05Speaker 3: don't even have to.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Get out of bed.
- 9:07Speaker 2: When you get into bed and you realize you left
- 9:09Speaker 2: the lamp when you're like, fuck, yeah, I hate that.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So you also have a really cool series on easy
- 9:17Speaker 1: home hacks that you'll wish you knew sooner. What are
- 9:21Speaker 1: your top five home hacks that everybody should know?
- 9:24Speaker 6: Okay, so starting with the bathroom, because that's the worst
- 9:28Speaker 6: place everyone It is the worst job. Quick way to
- 9:34Speaker 6: clean your bathroom, So get like a dish washing brush
- 9:38Speaker 6: that you used to clean your dishes. Fill it halfway
- 9:41Speaker 6: with white vinegar, halfway with dish washing liquid, and then
- 9:45Speaker 6: if you've got mold in your bathroom, a couple of
- 9:46Speaker 6: drops of tea tree oil or clove oil. You can
- 9:49Speaker 6: literally use this one little brush to clean your entire
- 9:52Speaker 6: bathroom like shower, basin, bath tub.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I love a multi purpose cleaner everything.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Oh my god, So what was the what was the
- 10:02Speaker 5: recipe again?
- 10:03Speaker 6: So it's in one of those dish ones. Half fill
- 10:07Speaker 6: it half with white vinegar, half with dish washing liquid,
- 10:10Speaker 6: and then a couple of drops of clove or tea
- 10:12Speaker 6: tree oil.
- 10:14Speaker 4: It is.
- 10:14Speaker 6: It's just it makes cleaning the bathroom so much quick.
- 10:17Speaker 4: I love that.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Just don't get it mixed up with your actual kitchen one.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that one in the laundry.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like that would smell good too, Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 1: especially with like the tea tree oil.
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yes.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Are you a big fan of using like oil in
- 10:31Speaker 2: your cleaning? Yeah, I am so.
- 10:32Speaker 6: My daughter has asthma, which is why we originally like
- 10:36Speaker 6: switched over to less harsh chemicals in the house. And
- 10:39Speaker 6: that was like a switch we made maybe five or
- 10:41Speaker 6: six years ago, well before I started my channel. But
- 10:45Speaker 6: it's just not only is it better for you, but
- 10:49Speaker 6: it's also way more cost effect. Yeah, well so.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I love that.
- 10:54Speaker 5: So what are some of your other tips?
- 10:56Speaker 6: Let's go to bathtub?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, help me.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Your spin mop, like your handy little skin mop. You
- 11:04Speaker 6: don't need to use a few flaws like. You can
- 11:06Speaker 6: use that to clean your bathtub, your walls, anywhere that
- 11:09Speaker 6: otherwise you'd be bending over to clean. Just use your
- 11:12Speaker 6: spin mop to clean it.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You are changing my life right now. That is such
- 11:16Speaker 2: a good tear. Yeah, that's really good. Okay, what else
- 11:19Speaker 2: do you act? Number that?
- 11:21Speaker 6: What else have I got? So? Oh? Another smell one?
- 11:26Speaker 6: So if you want your house to smell good, but
- 11:27Speaker 6: like you don't have a whole heap of time because
- 11:29Speaker 6: sometimes lighting a candle you need to wait for a
- 11:31Speaker 6: little while to make your house smell good. But a
- 11:34Speaker 6: really fast way to do it if you've got like
- 11:36Speaker 6: friends popping over coffee and vanil extract in a oven
- 11:44Speaker 6: safe dish with some water and pop it in your
- 11:47Speaker 6: oven and just allow that to like simmer in your
- 11:50Speaker 6: oven and it makes your house smells sort of sounds
- 11:53Speaker 6: so yummy.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yes, I love that. That's so good.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I think one tip I actually have is with your oils.
- 12:02Speaker 3: One time I was having a bath the one out
- 12:04Speaker 3: of two times I have a bathroom, right, And I
- 12:08Speaker 3: put some oils in my back and then my skin
- 12:12Speaker 3: was like tingling. But I ran a really hot bar
- 12:15Speaker 3: and I was like, did I make this too hot?
- 12:17Speaker 3: And I was like no, it's it's tingling.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I was like, it's kind of badding.
- 12:23Speaker 3: And then I look at the oil that I use
- 12:26Speaker 3: and it was one hundred percent eucalyptus oil for cleaning.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Oh no. And I was like, well.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Well, I don't know if you're gonna love this one.
- 12:40Speaker 6: But peppermint oil.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I like peppermint pay good good. Peppermints never done me dirty,
- 12:48Speaker 4: and it.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Keeps spiders away. So if you rub it like on
- 12:52Speaker 6: your window sills or you know, in your car or
- 12:55Speaker 6: wherever you need, it smells so good. But insect propelling.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Good, so good.
- 13:02Speaker 6: And then last number five, last one is oil stains.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Oh please, yes, But.
- 13:08Speaker 6: I came up with it because you know, those country
- 13:09Speaker 6: road jumpers are always end I don't know why. It's
- 13:13Speaker 6: the country road jumper every time, and you wash them,
- 13:16Speaker 6: they don't come out anyway. Dish washing liquid, baking soda,
- 13:21Speaker 6: make it into a paste, apply it on the stain,
- 13:23Speaker 6: leave it for fifteen minutes and pop it in the wash.
- 13:25Speaker 6: Even if it's an old stain, it.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Goes Ooh, I'm going to test that because I've got
- 13:30Speaker 3: a stain on this bad Boy that.
- 13:31Speaker 4: I'm wearing right now and I haven't been able to
- 13:34Speaker 4: get it out.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I stain everything I wear, though. I literally walk out
- 13:37Speaker 3: of the house wearing something and it's stained.
- 13:38Speaker 2: That's why we were black.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so this is one of my favorite topics
- 13:44Speaker 3: because over washing your clothes is not only expensive, but
- 13:48Speaker 3: it can shorten the life spent of your clothes.
- 13:51Speaker 5: So I also saw You're on the Today Show talking about.
- 13:54Speaker 4: This, which was so cool.
- 13:56Speaker 3: But we wanted to do a quick fire of how
- 13:58Speaker 3: often you should wash your clothes and I I already
- 14:00Speaker 3: can't wait for this to ruffle some feathers and for
- 14:04Speaker 3: me to not be doing it enough and for South
- 14:06Speaker 3: to be doing it too much.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yep, okay, to find a happy medium.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Yeah, So how often should we be washing our T
- 14:12Speaker 3: shirts and tanks?
- 14:13Speaker 6: Obviously it depends on climate and all of those kind
- 14:16Speaker 6: of things, and if you've got stains on them and everything,
- 14:19Speaker 6: but in a general sense, t shirts and tanks one
- 14:21Speaker 6: to two.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Wears okay, bras.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Bras should be every two to three wears.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I think that is a lie. I think that honestly.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I think there are most of my bras will probably
- 14:38Speaker 3: get washed every like two months.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Oh my god, that's not that bad, is it?
- 14:44Speaker 3: I no mind every two There are bras that I
- 14:48Speaker 3: have that I'm like, I don't know.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Look, I couldn't tell you, but that's okay.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Because this is a safe space.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It is a safe space.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Look, I think the ones that I wear, like, there's
- 14:58Speaker 3: like one or two that I wear like every day
- 15:00Speaker 3: because it's like the best fitting ones that are the
- 15:02Speaker 3: most comfortable.
- 15:03Speaker 2: It's like the strapless bra that.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I'm like, m I'm like, I don't even like you.
- 15:08Speaker 4: You don't deserve to be washed.
- 15:10Speaker 5: You hurt me and my feelings.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Okay, your jeans jeans is okay, Wait before you enter sour.
- 15:19Speaker 2: How often do you wash your jeans? I wash them
- 15:22Speaker 2: probably every like two or three wears.
- 15:28Speaker 3: See, I don't think I wash mine that often, but
- 15:30Speaker 3: I will wash it when I get a mark on
- 15:34Speaker 3: them or when I get a stain on them, which
- 15:36Speaker 3: is basically every time I wear them. But I would
- 15:39Speaker 3: say that i'd probably wash them maybe every like four
- 15:41Speaker 3: to five wears or if they get dirty.
- 15:44Speaker 6: But that's what they say. So genes is actually like
- 15:47Speaker 6: you can stretch out jeans for longer because denim does
- 15:50Speaker 6: wear quite quickly. You're thrilled, Am I doing it? Vindication
- 15:57Speaker 6: up to yeah, about five wears out of gen again,
- 16:00Speaker 6: unless they're particularly dirty or you know, like you were
- 16:04Speaker 6: in a climate where your sweating or something like that,
- 16:07Speaker 6: generally you can hold out a bit long. Got wine.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yes, One point to well is the hack of putting
- 16:14Speaker 1: your jeans in the freezer to clean them. True.
- 16:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it's one of those contentious things. Some people say
- 16:22Speaker 6: that it works, some people like it's a total myth.
- 16:25Speaker 6: From my experience, it does work, but it works for
- 16:28Speaker 6: one where So what the trick is is you take
- 16:31Speaker 6: your jeans, if they you know a little bit musty,
- 16:33Speaker 6: pop them in the freezer for you know, an hour
- 16:36Speaker 6: or so, and then once you wear them, the smells
- 16:39Speaker 6: are gone.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Ah. Honestly, though, who's got room in their freezer. I've
- 16:43Speaker 3: got like three boxes of paddle pops in They're a
- 16:46Speaker 3: frozen like dinner that I got three months ago that
- 16:48Speaker 3: I'm probably still not gonna eat.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Zooper Duopers Zooper, doopers, all the important things.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, frozen veggies, and again I haven't touched.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Okay. And then jackets and blazes.
- 17:00Speaker 6: Jackets and blazers generally need to be dry clean, so
- 17:03Speaker 6: you're kind of looking at five plus weds around that.
- 17:07Speaker 6: But again, yeah, if.
- 17:08Speaker 3: You're not wearing them that often either, like unless it's
- 17:11Speaker 3: like you're one that you wear every single day. Yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 3: Like I feel like you will kind of filter around
- 17:17Speaker 3: the jackets that you have.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and I also have this weird thing because like
- 17:22Speaker 1: your jackets aren't always touching your skin, that's fair. I'm like,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I feel like that's okay, especially in winter if I'm
- 17:28Speaker 1: wearing a jumper or something underneath it, I'm like, she's.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Fine, but I'll definitely see like the collar of a
- 17:34Speaker 3: jacket and I'm oh, don't look, no one look too close.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I'm like, that is private your business.
- 17:42Speaker 4: And then last one, which.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Again I think people have varied opinions on this is
- 17:48Speaker 3: how often should you wash your pajamas?
- 17:50Speaker 6: With pajamas? I do every like second to third wear.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Some people are like, you're clean when you're in bed,
- 17:57Speaker 6: so like, do you even like need to? But yeah,
- 17:59Speaker 6: I do every two to three bit.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah. See, I've seen people also saying every night really,
- 18:05Speaker 3: which I think is a lot.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I feel like that's a lot. Yeah.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Maybe they're like a really sweaty sleeper or something. I
- 18:12Speaker 2: don't know, but I'm like, who else time to do
- 18:15Speaker 2: that much washing? That's too expensive? Yeah?
- 18:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 6: One thing that people often aren't washing enough those towels.
- 18:22Speaker 6: Towels is every two to three uses.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Fuck, don't judge me.
- 18:30Speaker 4: And what about sheets?
- 18:31Speaker 6: Sheets? I like to do it weekly, but I reckon
- 18:33Speaker 6: you can go up to fortnightly.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I'm a weekly goal because I like the Sunday recess. Yes.
- 18:40Speaker 5: My partner does hate it though, because it's like we've
- 18:41Speaker 5: got to make the.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Fucking bet again.
- 18:43Speaker 3: It's like least favorite sual. But I'm like yeah, but
- 18:46Speaker 3: then when we get in it, it's just on ice
- 18:48Speaker 3: and curlsy a time with.
- 18:49Speaker 6: The hair washed day yeah, everything, everything, shower on, pop
- 18:54Speaker 6: into bed, fresh linen.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Oh it's the best.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Okay, this is like a personal for me, but I
- 19:01Speaker 1: also think a lot of the chicks will appreciate this.
- 19:04Speaker 2: What are your best organization.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Hacks to make more efficient use of a small space?
- 19:10Speaker 6: Okay, So I love storing things vertically so wherever you can,
- 19:17Speaker 6: wherever something's horizontal, flip it vertical. So for example, you
- 19:21Speaker 6: know you're chopping boards underneath, you know, in your kitchen cupboards,
- 19:25Speaker 6: instead of stacking them horizontally, get like an office file
- 19:29Speaker 6: rack or something like that and then you can store
- 19:31Speaker 6: them vertically. Saves so much space. Same thing for clothing,
- 19:36Speaker 6: like your file folding, you know, the Marie Condo method,
- 19:40Speaker 6: like stacking things vertically and then you can actually see
- 19:43Speaker 6: what you have you use it more often takes up
- 19:45Speaker 6: less space vertical or even linens. I even stack my
- 19:50Speaker 6: linens vertically in the cupboard and I have a lot
- 19:53Speaker 6: of linen, obviously because it's my job. But I have
- 19:56Speaker 6: a lot of linen and I fit so much more
- 19:58Speaker 6: in by vertically storing.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I've seen those like packs that you can like fold
- 20:03Speaker 3: your linens into. Yeah, and I think Kmart brought out
- 20:09Speaker 3: its own range of that, and it just means that
- 20:12Speaker 3: like when you're trying to like manhandle a fit and
- 20:14Speaker 3: sheet into like a square, which it doesn't.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Just in case you're wondering, I don't.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Care who says it. You've got a good hack, I've
- 20:25Speaker 4: got okay.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Tell me please you make it look so easyel.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Please really like the hack is like it's a couple
- 20:35Speaker 6: of steps, but the first step is the most important.
- 20:37Speaker 6: And that's basically, so you lae your fitted cheat down
- 20:40Speaker 6: on a bed or on a surface. You take the
- 20:43Speaker 6: bottom two corners and you flip them through your hands
- 20:47Speaker 6: and place them inside the top two corners.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Okay, once you do.
- 20:52Speaker 6: That, you've already created a rectangle and then you're just
- 20:56Speaker 6: folding into a square from there.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Wow.
- 21:00Speaker 6: First step.
- 21:01Speaker 1: That's because it kind of like keeps some like snug
- 21:05Speaker 1: into each other each other the days of.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Me being mister g in that pink, So.
- 21:13Speaker 4: That is me trying to fold.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Think, but I'm finally, Oh my god, so good.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Okay, So what other tips do you have?
- 21:27Speaker 6: Command hooks can be used all around your house. I
- 21:30Speaker 6: love command hooks.
- 21:31Speaker 4: They're the sticky ones, right. Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 6: So there's like three m hooks, so you can put
- 21:36Speaker 6: them on the side your bedside, store your charges on
- 21:40Speaker 6: them inside your cupboards in your kitchen to hang like
- 21:44Speaker 6: other myths or you know, whatever you need hung around
- 21:47Speaker 6: the kitchen, measuring cups, all of those kind of things
- 21:50Speaker 6: that can be used in so many places all around
- 21:52Speaker 6: the house. They're incredible and stackable shelves is the other one.
- 21:57Speaker 6: So if you've got like a lot of vertical shelf space,
- 22:02Speaker 6: instead of just stacking like a couple of plates, you
- 22:04Speaker 6: can actually buy these like stackable shelves, Like it's like, yeah,
- 22:09Speaker 6: that goes on top of the like your plates. Yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 6: and then you can put cups on the top of
- 22:13Speaker 6: there or something like that. So maximizing the space that
- 22:17Speaker 6: we have around the house.
- 22:18Speaker 3: Yeah, because I feel like, especially like your cupboards, you've
- 22:20Speaker 3: got a lot of dead space above, right, So that's
- 22:22Speaker 3: why we.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Come in handy.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I need to get those apartment living.
- 22:28Speaker 3: So you mentioned before that you use a lot of
- 22:30Speaker 3: kind of more natural ingredients in your cleaning or things
- 22:33Speaker 3: that you have around the house because it's a lot
- 22:35Speaker 3: more cost effective. What are some ingredients that we would
- 22:38Speaker 3: have at home that we aren't using enough of that
- 22:42Speaker 3: we can be using for organization and cleaning.
- 22:44Speaker 6: So there are only a couple of ingredients really that
- 22:46Speaker 6: you need to clean your entire house, and that is
- 22:50Speaker 6: it's probably stuff you already have, so dishwashing liquid, baking soda,
- 22:55Speaker 6: white vinegar, that's pretty much it Actually.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Through a new colleptus oil yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Just don't.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Okay, Yeah, you can use some oils if you've got
- 23:11Speaker 6: like a lemon tree, or if you've got some spare lemons.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Lemons are incredible as well. But really it's something a
- 23:17Speaker 6: couple of ingredients that you need and you can make
- 23:19Speaker 6: so many different sprays and pastes and cleaning formulas but
- 23:22Speaker 6: all around the house using just a couple of ingredients.
- 23:25Speaker 4: And it sounds so much more fun.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Like I feel like I would really enjoy it, because
- 23:30Speaker 3: it like really makes me feel like a little Witchy
- 23:32Speaker 3: Pooh when I was like five years old, like spray
- 23:36Speaker 3: bottle and like, I know you don't need these, but
- 23:39Speaker 3: I'm so going to.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Go out and get like all the clothes and.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Like really romanticize the experience of it because I think,
- 23:46Speaker 3: like I just I'm not someone that gets excited to clean,
- 23:50Speaker 3: but I am excited for a clean space, Whereas I
- 23:53Speaker 3: feel like this maybe creates it to be a bit.
- 23:56Speaker 1: More fun, like like routine or something.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Yeah, what about carpet cleaners.
- 24:02Speaker 6: Carpet cleaners, So you can either use like baking sodum
- 24:07Speaker 6: mixed with an essential oil, so say like lavender or
- 24:10Speaker 6: something that oil not stain. No, it doesn't when you
- 24:13Speaker 6: put it into the baking sodum and then you kind
- 24:16Speaker 6: of sprinkle it on your carpet. After that, it doesn't
- 24:18Speaker 6: stay in the car because you're not applying it directly
- 24:20Speaker 6: to the is that for kind of fifteen minutes and
- 24:24Speaker 6: then vacuum it up and it makes your house smells
- 24:26Speaker 6: so good as well.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Love that. I can't wait to go home and class.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I know, I what would your tips be for people
- 24:34Speaker 3: that are probably a little bit more like me and
- 24:36Speaker 3: they wake up on a Saturday and they're like, fuck,
- 24:37Speaker 3: I've got to do the clean.
- 24:38Speaker 6: Yes, So I was like that, So I don't believe it.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Pause.
- 24:44Speaker 6: When I first moved out, I was twenty one years old.
- 24:46Speaker 6: I was straight out of UNI and I got my
- 24:48Speaker 6: first job and I moved into an apartment and I
- 24:51Speaker 6: was like I hate this. Yeah, like I hate it
- 24:53Speaker 6: because I would come home from work my house was
- 24:57Speaker 6: in the house, it was like studious house. It was
- 25:01Speaker 6: really cluttered, and by the time it got to the weekend,
- 25:03Speaker 6: everything was so piled up that I was so overwhelmed
- 25:07Speaker 6: about being in that space all the time. So I
- 25:10Speaker 6: started doing it was like just fifteen minute cleans the day.
- 25:14Speaker 6: I still do them to now, like to this day,
- 25:16Speaker 6: I call them clean in fifteens now, but it is
- 25:19Speaker 6: just taking fifteen minutes. Put a timer on your phone,
- 25:22Speaker 6: put a playlist on that goes fifteen minutes, put half
- 25:24Speaker 6: an episode of like Friends on and clean during that
- 25:29Speaker 6: time and you'll be a mate. So how much you
- 25:31Speaker 6: can get done in fifteen minutes if you live with
- 25:33Speaker 6: a partner or a flatmate or someone else, you're actually
- 25:36Speaker 6: in half an hour's worth, yeahble day that you know,
- 25:42Speaker 6: and you're chipping away at it every day so it
- 25:44Speaker 6: never becomes overwhelming, it never. And then on your weekends
- 25:47Speaker 6: you're just doing the big stuff. Yeah, it's kind of fun,
- 25:50Speaker 6: like the linen chain.
- 25:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but you're.
- 25:52Speaker 6: Doing the little fifteen minutes each day.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I love that, And I do think it's like the
- 25:57Speaker 3: micro habit on there the closing shift before me. Yeah,
- 26:02Speaker 3: And it is like I find if I like put
- 26:05Speaker 3: my phone in a drawer, like if I pick my
- 26:08Speaker 3: phone up or I sit down, it's over. So like
- 26:11Speaker 3: if you are doing that clean and fifteen, I do
- 26:14Speaker 3: think you need to drop kick your phone into the ocean.
- 26:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and not sit down.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Also, have you seen that thing of like putting your
- 26:21Speaker 5: shoes on.
- 26:22Speaker 3: So it's like you put shoes on to get a
- 26:24Speaker 3: job done, and then when you you're finished, you take
- 26:27Speaker 3: your shoes off. But I think you would hate that
- 26:29Speaker 3: because you would hate wearing.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Hold on, no, you don't have inside shoes.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Maybe you can put your slippers.
- 26:41Speaker 4: No, I think people like full and put their sneakers on.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Mentality in my productive.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Model, Yeah, so like you put your like sneakers on.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Maybe you can buy some indoor sneakers.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd have to because I feel like that would
- 26:59Speaker 1: for me personally, I would defeat the purpose of like
- 27:01Speaker 1: wearing a dirty outside shoe while cleaning my house.
- 27:04Speaker 2: But different strokes as they say. As they say, I like,
- 27:09Speaker 2: you're like, why are you breaking out in a rash?
- 27:10Speaker 2: You're worry about it?
- 27:13Speaker 1: What are some common areas of the home that we
- 27:17Speaker 1: forget to clean, but we definitely should be cleaning.
- 27:20Speaker 6: So cleaning the things that clean your home. So I'm
- 27:25Speaker 6: talking about like washing machines, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners. Those are
- 27:31Speaker 6: kind of areas where we overlook. We overlook it all
- 27:34Speaker 6: the time, and when you are investing so much in
- 27:36Speaker 6: a washing machine or a dishwasher, you do want to
- 27:39Speaker 6: take care of it and make sure that you know
- 27:41Speaker 6: it lasts. So making sure the filters are empty. Running
- 27:46Speaker 6: a load that is empty on like a hot cycle
- 27:49Speaker 6: with some baking soda inside, just to kind of clear
- 27:51Speaker 6: the pipes and clean it. And it makes your clothes
- 27:54Speaker 6: feel cleaner, it makes your dishes feel cleaner. It's worth
- 27:57Speaker 6: taking the time to do it.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Definitely check your filter because one time my washing machine
- 28:02Speaker 3: wasn't working and I was like, what the fuck is
- 28:04Speaker 3: going on? And it like kept flooding and it just
- 28:06Speaker 3: kept showing an aerosign for like a month.
- 28:08Speaker 5: And then I was trying to take.
- 28:10Speaker 2: The filter and I couldn't get it out, and I
- 28:11Speaker 2: was like, what's going on?
- 28:13Speaker 5: My undies were in there?
- 28:18Speaker 2: Is that where all our socks going?
- 28:20Speaker 3: They're like there were a seamless pair of andies said
- 28:23Speaker 3: they were really thin.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Shit, And I was like, damn bro. I was like,
- 28:28Speaker 4: let me drink fast being a pair of my underwear.
- 28:32Speaker 4: But when I pulled out this filter, all this water.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Light can go out.
- 28:36Speaker 6: So yeah, check your filters.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Your pair of ye undies might be in there if
- 28:39Speaker 4: you're looking for them.
- 28:40Speaker 5: The matching set isn't matching anymore.
- 28:42Speaker 6: Check your filter.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Okay, So this is definitely a common question that we
- 28:48Speaker 3: see come through on TBC a lot, and we're in
- 28:52Speaker 3: a cost of living crisis, so we're looking for ways
- 28:54Speaker 3: to make our food last longer, and you do post
- 28:57Speaker 3: about this quite a bit on your channels. So what
- 28:59Speaker 3: are your top two for making food stay fresh and
- 29:01Speaker 3: last longer? Because I am sick of my strawberries going
- 29:04Speaker 3: moldy after like two days and they were like twenty.
- 29:06Speaker 6: Bucks, I know. And groceries are like I saw someone
- 29:11Speaker 6: post the other day and they said, like, back back
- 29:14Speaker 6: in the day, like a few years ago, if you
- 29:16Speaker 6: were to buy one hundred dollars worth of groceries, you'd
- 29:19Speaker 6: need to open your boot to fit one hundred. Now,
- 29:22Speaker 6: one hundred dollars worth of groceries fits in like the
- 29:24Speaker 6: seat next to you, like the passenger seat, and that, oh.
- 29:29Speaker 2: My god, that has rocked my world and not a
- 29:32Speaker 2: good way.
- 29:33Speaker 6: No, So yeah, groceries insanely extensive, so in like, keeping
- 29:38Speaker 6: them fresher for longer is so important. So some of
- 29:41Speaker 6: my top tips herbs when they start to wild, instead
- 29:45Speaker 6: of throwing them out, freezing them so you can actually
- 29:48Speaker 6: make little ice cubes with either water or you can
- 29:52Speaker 6: use olive oil and then you've got these little ice
- 29:55Speaker 6: cubes in your freezer. Next time you're cooking, you can
- 29:57Speaker 6: just pop them out and they're just little like irving
- 30:00Speaker 6: sized cubes that you can so clean to your food.
- 30:03Speaker 6: Tomato paste is another thing that you know, when you
- 30:05Speaker 6: use half the bottle and then you've got.
- 30:06Speaker 5: That making the.
- 30:12Speaker 6: Like, I'll never use that again. You can freeze it
- 30:14Speaker 6: and then again you've got like little portion sized tomato paste.
- 30:19Speaker 4: I love that.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so you always need tomato paste too, I mean
- 30:23Speaker 3: I'm always making past Yeah, that's fine.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yea true with.
- 30:27Speaker 6: The tomatoes, potatoes things like that. So if you actually
- 30:32Speaker 6: keep an apple with your potatoes, that prevents them from
- 30:36Speaker 6: scouting and like growing little.
- 30:40Speaker 1: They do.
- 30:42Speaker 4: It makes And my boyfriend does not get it.
- 30:45Speaker 3: And I'm like, because I.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Like potato skin, like when I'm roasting potatoes and stuff.
- 30:50Speaker 4: But once they get their little waters, like.
- 30:53Speaker 1: They look like a potato water.
- 30:55Speaker 6: Who gave you permission to grow? In my house?
- 31:00Speaker 4: Family?
- 31:02Speaker 5: I feel so seen into her.
- 31:04Speaker 6: That's such a good Just keep your apples with your potatoes.
- 31:07Speaker 6: I don't know, it's something about the gases.
- 31:09Speaker 2: That we don't need to know, it just works. It works.
- 31:12Speaker 6: The main thing tomatoes, don't put them in the fridge,
- 31:15Speaker 6: keep them upside down in your fruit bowl. By keeping
- 31:19Speaker 6: them upside down, it just blocks that little bit at
- 31:22Speaker 6: the top.
- 31:23Speaker 2: I always I was in the fridge.
- 31:25Speaker 1: My boyfriend told me that it's like when you go
- 31:27Speaker 1: to the grocery store, where are they? Are they in
- 31:29Speaker 1: the refrigerated section or are they in the non refrigerator
- 31:33Speaker 1: section that's where you keep them?
- 31:35Speaker 2: And I was like, make good point, Gris, make it
- 31:37Speaker 2: good point.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Another one is okay, like spinach greens, Yes, placing paper
- 31:46Speaker 6: towel around them so they go off faster with moisture.
- 31:50Speaker 6: By placing a paper towel, like wrapping them in a
- 31:52Speaker 6: paper towel, it absorbs that extra moisture and keeps them
- 31:56Speaker 6: fresh up for longer.
- 31:57Speaker 3: So good. I also saw on Tiics recently there was
- 32:01Speaker 3: a chick saying that she puts all of her fresh
- 32:05Speaker 3: food and like her veggies and all that stuff in
- 32:08Speaker 3: the door of her fridge because it means you see them,
- 32:12Speaker 3: oh yeah, the drawer.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Yeah, in the crisp.
- 32:16Speaker 3: She was like, we actually don't use a crisper because
- 32:19Speaker 3: it's where food goes to die and I was like,
- 32:21Speaker 3: that's so true, and I definitely camera late up and
- 32:24Speaker 3: like if I can't see the food, it's not there.
- 32:26Speaker 6: Well, it's like what I was saying earlier about like
- 32:28Speaker 6: file folding, so that you actually use your clothes because
- 32:30Speaker 6: you can see them.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Because it's the same kind of thing.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Also, like the door of your fridge is the warmest spot,
- 32:37Speaker 6: so they actually say that's not really where you should
- 32:39Speaker 6: be putting milk. We put it there because it's the
- 32:41Speaker 6: most convenient to use it. But if you've got like
- 32:44Speaker 6: say two bottles of milk, the second one should actually
- 32:47Speaker 6: go in that bottom mirror of your fridge because that's cold,
- 32:52Speaker 6: is actually cold, whereas like the door of your fridge
- 32:54Speaker 6: isn't as cold.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I love this shit.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so motivated to go home, organize my space.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to go home and clean our hotel room.
- 33:05Speaker 1: So we saw on your socials you were posting about
- 33:10Speaker 1: the burnt toast theory and we really loved the sentiment
- 33:14Speaker 1: around it. So can you tell us what is the
- 33:18Speaker 1: burnt toast theory?
- 33:19Speaker 6: Okay, so it's similar to the butterfly effect, but basically
- 33:23Speaker 6: what the burnt burnt toast theory is is in the morning,
- 33:27Speaker 6: if you make a slice of toast and it burns,
- 33:31Speaker 6: the time that it takes to make another slice of
- 33:34Speaker 6: toast or to scrape off the burnt bits off the
- 33:36Speaker 6: slice toast that you made, the extra time in the
- 33:38Speaker 6: morning could have protected you from a car accident, or
- 33:45Speaker 6: it could have made you that little bit later so
- 33:48Speaker 6: that you meet someone else in your life that might
- 33:50Speaker 6: have a really big impact down down the room. So
- 33:53Speaker 6: it's basically the theory that if minor like failures or
- 33:59Speaker 6: minor things happen in your life that kind of set
- 34:01Speaker 6: you back, that's okay because you can trust the process
- 34:04Speaker 6: that something bigger and greater is happening.
- 34:06Speaker 4: And I loved that, like, yeah, yeah, we saw it
- 34:09Speaker 4: this morning. Let's put that in that.
- 34:12Speaker 3: I was like, I know, it's not like organizational cleaning,
- 34:14Speaker 3: but I just think that's a really lovely note to
- 34:15Speaker 3: end on.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's such a nice reminder.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but we do finish our episodes with our guests
- 34:22Speaker 1: with one very important question, which is what is your
- 34:25Speaker 1: biggest life lesson so far?
- 34:28Speaker 3: I think my.
- 34:29Speaker 6: Biggest lie, I mean it links a bit to the
- 34:31Speaker 6: bent toast theory. My biggest life lesson is. I mean,
- 34:36Speaker 6: I'm in my mid thirties now, and I started my
- 34:39Speaker 6: channel when I was in my thirties, like I was
- 34:42Speaker 6: thirty one when I started it, and I would say,
- 34:45Speaker 6: just kind of throw away the timeline, like if you're
- 34:48Speaker 6: a person like me who was always kind of like
- 34:51Speaker 6: I need to do this by this time, this, by
- 34:53Speaker 6: this time, this, by this time, throw at that timeline
- 34:55Speaker 6: because just trust in the process. Because when I started
- 35:00Speaker 6: sharing chips and tricks online, I didn't share it with
- 35:03Speaker 6: the intention of what it's coming, what it is now.
- 35:07Speaker 6: I shared it with the intention of just helping like
- 35:09Speaker 6: a small amount of people, the fourteen people.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Who are.
- 35:15Speaker 6: And yeah, like life can take you in all sorts
- 35:18Speaker 6: of directions.
- 35:18Speaker 3: So yeah, that's a lovely life lesson. Thank you so much.
- 35:22Speaker 3: I have found this so helpful. I'm so excited to clean,
- 35:26Speaker 3: which are the words that I never thoughts, like straight up,
- 35:30Speaker 3: I think there's a reconciliation on the cars between me
- 35:33Speaker 3: and my eucalyptus oil.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Yeah, you'll clean in fifteen.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that can keep me like accountable. Yeah, thank
- 35:40Speaker 3: you so much for joining us. And if the chicks
- 35:43Speaker 3: aren't following you yet, where can they find you.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Fama, I'm just going Miller. I'm just got au on Instagram.
