- 0:02Speaker 1: They're approaching the final game of the preseason. So who
- 0:06Speaker 1: for you guys has been the MVP of the preseason
- 0:07Speaker 1: and training camp so far, Tank.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Bigsby, maybe the rookie coaches who call running plays now
- 0:13Speaker 2: I would say Greg Junior.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Welcome in. It's Wednesday's edition of Jags A. I'm presented
- 0:35Speaker 1: by Jet Home Loans. I'm Kennannie Stevens, Brian Sexton, and
- 0:38Speaker 1: John Oser are with me, and as John so eloquently mentioned,
- 0:41Speaker 1: we're slogging along. We're trying to get through training camp
- 0:43Speaker 1: right now because the regular season is around the corner,
- 0:46Speaker 1: and we're.
- 0:46Speaker 2: All very excited.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Running clock, baby, running block.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I wouldn't be mad about it. We're gonna start off
- 0:51Speaker 1: with big things today as indoors. The team practiced indoors
- 0:55Speaker 1: yesterday and they're gonna practice indoors, or they practice indoors
- 0:58Speaker 1: two days or stay indoors.
- 1:00Speaker 3: As well outside.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Okay, so the last two days they were indoors and
- 1:03Speaker 1: they'll be back outside today. But after a week away
- 1:06Speaker 1: in Michigan, they're kind of losing their South Florida.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Will you you know? To me, I think part of
- 1:12Speaker 3: it is. And Doug hasn't talked about it is that
- 1:15Speaker 3: they're beat up, right, get a chance to get your
- 1:18Speaker 3: legs back. You've got one more week and you're gonna
- 1:20Speaker 3: play your starters on Saturday. It's not like the guys
- 1:22Speaker 3: are sitting this week. So it made sense to me
- 1:24Speaker 3: that they would go indoors. Now, yesterday they were in
- 1:27Speaker 3: pads indoors, even though it wasn't all the way to
- 1:30Speaker 3: the ground. It just seems to me like it's a
- 1:31Speaker 3: way to lighten the load a little bit, keep your
- 1:33Speaker 3: guys fresh because you're gonna play them on Saturday.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought yesterday was to call it a padded practice,
- 1:40Speaker 2: it would be generous. Yeah. I mean, it had pads,
- 1:44Speaker 2: but it was not what people think of as a
- 1:46Speaker 2: padded football practice with like a major hit.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Honestly, how many of those were they're in camp?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Not many, right, But if it's so, I thought yesterday
- 1:54Speaker 2: was light my understanding from looking at the schedule in
- 1:56Speaker 2: terms of time, this is.
- 1:57Speaker 3: A long practice. Today.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I guess it'll have some physicality to it, and then
- 2:02Speaker 2: that'll be the last really physical practice that we see
- 2:04Speaker 2: because these are the last couple of practices that will
- 2:06Speaker 2: see except for the twenty minutes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: And I think a little bit of it probably too.
- 2:10Speaker 1: After you go away and you joint practices. Those are
- 2:12Speaker 1: always physical, so coming back maybe and with the injuries
- 2:16Speaker 1: we saw as well against Detroit, to try to keep
- 2:18Speaker 1: everything level and keep everybody healthy going into that last game.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The beggest point you've learned what you're going to learn
- 2:23Speaker 2: by hitting in Like Doug clearly stay with last year.
- 2:26Speaker 2: He likes to get a couple of big hit days in.
- 2:28Speaker 2: He had one this year. He gets Detroit and won
- 2:30Speaker 2: against themselves in this day and age. That's about what
- 2:32Speaker 2: you can do underscore this day and age.
- 2:34Speaker 3: It's the way it is, all right.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Big thing Number two is special teams. Brian, I want
- 2:38Speaker 1: to let you go into that because you talked to
- 2:40Speaker 1: our special teams coach and kind of you know, we've
- 2:43Speaker 1: talked for a while about if you want to make
- 2:44Speaker 1: this roster and you're on the edge, you got to
- 2:46Speaker 1: do something on special teams.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Well, and your buddy Bucky Brooks and I John talk.
- 2:49Speaker 3: He is my pal. I talked extensively during the broadcast
- 2:52Speaker 3: last Saturday about the final spots that are available on
- 2:55Speaker 3: the roster. John, from one to fifty three, how many
- 2:57Speaker 3: do you think you know right now, I'd say forty eightish. Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So we're talking about the bottom five spots on the
- 3:06Speaker 3: roster and what determines those spots well, almost exclusively special teams.
- 3:11Speaker 3: So caught up yesterday with he Farwell and he had
- 3:13Speaker 3: this to say about the decision making process when it
- 3:17Speaker 3: comes to special teams.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It's a collaborative effort. I think there's a there is
- 3:23Speaker 4: some spots at the end that kind of maybe I
- 3:24Speaker 4: can persuade, you know, the organization coach Peterson, Trent Balky,
- 3:31Speaker 4: if everything is equal, Hey, this guy's a little tad
- 3:33Speaker 4: better on special teams, he can help us, or he's
- 3:36Speaker 4: a four phase guy we can't let out of the building.
- 3:39Speaker 4: I like to think that I have a little influence
- 3:40Speaker 4: on that.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Now, there's one guy in particular that he pointed out
- 3:44Speaker 3: who has done that, and that's Dewey, who's gonna make
- 3:47Speaker 3: the roster anyway, right, So he's not that final five.
- 3:50Speaker 3: But the wide receivers John that we've talked about, they've
- 3:53Speaker 3: got to prove it on special teams. Jacob Harris in
- 3:55Speaker 3: particular was really good on coverage teams. He's so long
- 3:59Speaker 3: and got that stride he can get down the field.
- 4:02Speaker 3: But whether we're talking about a backup linebacker, safety, a
- 4:05Speaker 3: wide receiver, it's going to be earned on special teams
- 4:08Speaker 3: on Saturday Night. Not exclusively, but a big play out
- 4:12Speaker 3: there on Saturday Night could be the difference between say,
- 4:15Speaker 3: Jacob Harris and Seth Williams.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Kai probably recalls an argument a couple of weeks ago
- 4:20Speaker 2: where I insisted to do he would make the team.
- 4:23Speaker 3: You know, said yeah, But if you recall the hot take,
- 4:27Speaker 3: I didn't say that he was not going to I
- 4:28Speaker 3: said he was going to be pushed, and.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So it was a warm take.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Then well he was, he was. Well, I didn't. I
- 4:39Speaker 3: never said he wasn't going to make the team, so
- 4:40Speaker 3: I couldn't have been ruber Lebron. But what I said
- 4:43Speaker 3: was was that he was going to be pushed, and
- 4:44Speaker 3: he was until Antonio Johnson pulls hamster.
- 4:48Speaker 1: All right, Our big thing, number three is that calm
- 4:50Speaker 1: before the storm we're talking about. You know, maybe there's
- 4:52Speaker 1: only a handful of spots left on this roster, but
- 4:54Speaker 1: how much of those decisions have already been made? In
- 4:57Speaker 1: your opinion, john going into this final preseason game, is
- 4:59Speaker 1: there ill spots up for grabs? If someone goes out
- 5:02Speaker 1: there or they already kind of know.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I'd say again, I think the last four or five spots,
- 5:10Speaker 2: especially at corner, I would say linebacker. I'm curious see
- 5:16Speaker 2: what they do with Shack and Ventrel Miller and Caleb
- 5:21Speaker 2: Johnson out of that group. I do think they pretty
- 5:25Speaker 2: much know. If he asked Doug and Trent to cut
- 5:28Speaker 2: the team, they could probably get it to fifty one.
- 5:32Speaker 2: But I think there's a there's always a couple of spots.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Maybe you're not doing it based on that game, but
- 5:39Speaker 2: that they still need to have conversations after that game,
- 5:43Speaker 2: that the game will influence a little bit.
- 5:44Speaker 3: There's only one player I know of in Jaguars history
- 5:47Speaker 3: that made the fifty three based exclusively on his final
- 5:51Speaker 3: preseason action points. There was a running back twenty three
- 5:57Speaker 3: twenty four years ago named Stacey Mack, big kid out
- 5:59Speaker 3: of a Orlando, played a Temple. He had a reverse
- 6:02Speaker 3: field sixty five yard touchdown against Dallas in two thousand
- 6:05Speaker 3: and When he did that, they knew they had their guy,
- 6:08Speaker 3: their backup running back. Other than that, you know, they're
- 6:11Speaker 3: just looking for one thing that might push it between
- 6:13Speaker 3: two players or three players. Just that one thing.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I know, Doug's talked a lot about consistency, so you
- 6:19Speaker 1: really are going to have to show out in Game three,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and it's only going to be about a half of
- 6:22Speaker 1: play as well, because we know the starters are going
- 6:24Speaker 1: the first two quarters at least, that's what Peterson is
- 6:27Speaker 1: planning on doing.
- 6:28Speaker 3: They want to trust you. They want to know that
- 6:30Speaker 3: what they get when they put you on the field
- 6:33Speaker 3: is going to be what they get if they need
- 6:35Speaker 3: to put you on the field at any point during
- 6:36Speaker 3: the season, and it's about building that level of trust.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, there's probably more jobs lost in the final preseason
- 6:43Speaker 2: game where a guy shows up and or not lost,
- 6:48Speaker 2: but sort of confirmed of Okay, we thought this was
- 6:51Speaker 2: trouble here, probably not going to be able to keep
- 6:54Speaker 2: them on the right. You know, it's more confirmation, I
- 6:57Speaker 2: think than it is guys winning jobs.
- 7:00Speaker 1: All right, Coming up, we're going to talk a little
- 7:01Speaker 1: bit more about the fifty three man roster, who we
- 7:03Speaker 1: think is kind of on the Edgora has showed out
- 7:05Speaker 1: so far in camp, and don't forget Saturday's final preseason
- 7:08Speaker 1: game versus the Miami Dolphins is brought to you by Ticketmaster,
- 7:10Speaker 1: the official ticket marketplace of the Jaguars and the NFL
- 7:22Speaker 1: JAGSAM presented by Field's Auto Group Jacksonville step up to
- 7:26Speaker 1: Luxuryfieldsauto dot Com JAGSAM. On this Wednesday, August twenty third,
- 7:30Speaker 1: we're in the Hyundai studios and getting down to those
- 7:33Speaker 1: final cut times, so we do a segment called the
- 7:35Speaker 1: fifty three. Either people that have made the case for
- 7:37Speaker 1: themselves or you know, need to have a good training camp,
- 7:40Speaker 1: or are just coming back and they're going to be
- 7:42Speaker 1: making this fifty three ran roster or trying to Brian,
- 7:45Speaker 1: who do you want to highlight today?
- 7:46Speaker 3: I'll go with Jeremiah Ledbetter for the obvious reason, with
- 7:49Speaker 3: Devon Hamilton's injury, they need this guy to play well,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and luckily for them he has. The last two weeks
- 7:55Speaker 3: he's been a force at the line of scrimmage against
- 7:57Speaker 3: the run, and just like Hamilton, he's been a guy
- 8:00Speaker 3: who's gotten good push off the line of scrimmage into
- 8:02Speaker 3: the backfield and broken plays up or as we saw
- 8:06Speaker 3: last week, finished off the sack that calebon Chason could not.
- 8:09Speaker 3: He's an interesting guy. Was drafted by the Lions in
- 8:12Speaker 3: twenty seventeen, has been on the Buccaneers and the Ravens
- 8:17Speaker 3: and the Buccaneers, the Cardinals and the Jaguars practice squads
- 8:21Speaker 3: and active rosters over the last six years. He's a
- 8:24Speaker 3: wide body. You know, when you look at Devon Hamilton, John,
- 8:26Speaker 3: he's really big from the waist down and he's got
- 8:29Speaker 3: a wide hip, bass right, big butt, and which is
- 8:32Speaker 3: what you need in that You need a guy who
- 8:34Speaker 3: can anchor in and he is the guy on that
- 8:36Speaker 3: line that could probably anchor in the best, you know,
- 8:40Speaker 3: beyond Devon or maybe fully fought to Costsias.
- 8:43Speaker 2: What Mike Caldwell said the other day, he can also
- 8:45Speaker 2: play all spots along the line.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, say that is versatility.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I think he's on the roster no matter what would
- 8:50Speaker 2: have happened with Devon, and he's another guy, Brian, we
- 8:54Speaker 2: talked on Monday about guys that Balkey signed as free
- 8:58Speaker 2: agents from other teams who aren't necessarily high profile guys,
- 9:02Speaker 2: but they are good NFL players. So so Kudo's pro
- 9:07Speaker 2: scouting because to me, that's a huge reason why this
- 9:09Speaker 2: team seems so deep.
- 9:10Speaker 3: He's a journeyman who has earned the right to be
- 9:13Speaker 3: on the roster, like John just said, and it just
- 9:15Speaker 3: so happens they need him also.
- 9:18Speaker 2: And a segue guy. You know, a segue in radio
- 9:22Speaker 2: is one of those things where you bring I mean
- 9:27Speaker 2: Dernis Johnson, who's exactly the same kind of free agent,
- 9:31Speaker 2: is my fifty three. I don't know that he is
- 9:35Speaker 2: a lock to make the team. I don't think he
- 9:37Speaker 2: thinks he's a lock to make the team. I think
- 9:40Speaker 2: he's earned it. He's he's going to be right on
- 9:44Speaker 2: the bubble. It may come down to whether they keep
- 9:49Speaker 2: four running backs, which may means numbers at other spots.
- 9:53Speaker 2: My gut is that he will be on the team.
- 9:57Speaker 3: He looked awfully good.
- 9:57Speaker 2: The other night. He's a veteran for a running back.
- 10:02Speaker 2: What you want to see in the preseason is do
- 10:04Speaker 2: they still move and make people miss like they did
- 10:06Speaker 2: when they were rookies.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Looks to me like he does. You know. The interesting
- 10:09Speaker 3: thing is they trust Michael Hasty. You know, he gave
- 10:12Speaker 3: him the sixty yard touchdown in Indy last year and
- 10:15Speaker 3: the thirty yard touchdown against the Ravens that gave the
- 10:17Speaker 3: Jaguars an early lead in two important games. So they
- 10:20Speaker 3: trust him. But I think Johnson is a more versatile
- 10:24Speaker 3: player than Hasty. I think he's a better receiver out
- 10:27Speaker 3: of the backfield. I think he's a guy who could
- 10:29Speaker 3: pick up the blitz schemes. I think he's aware. I
- 10:34Speaker 3: kind of like him as the three.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Well, think about what he gives you in the backfield
- 10:38Speaker 2: if you're Doug and Trent last year. With respect to Hasty,
- 10:43Speaker 2: who I think is a very important player on this team,
- 10:45Speaker 2: I don't know that you feel great if he is
- 10:48Speaker 2: your lead back going into a three game stretch with
- 10:53Speaker 2: Ernest Johnson and Tank Bigsby, I think they feel like
- 10:56Speaker 2: they have three guys who they're okay.
- 10:58Speaker 3: If with that, they're okay.
- 11:02Speaker 2: If they have to go with those guys as your
- 11:04Speaker 2: main back, that's significantly more depth than I think they
- 11:06Speaker 2: had a running back last year.
- 11:07Speaker 3: You know, the roster moves, how they structure it is
- 11:10Speaker 3: so heavily impacted by the injury situation on the offensive
- 11:14Speaker 3: and defensive line. So a guy like this or Hasty,
- 11:18Speaker 3: you know, or a fourth tight end like Garrett Prince
- 11:20Speaker 3: you know, could fall into it. Can we get into
- 11:22Speaker 3: the practice squad because of the needs at those positions.
- 11:24Speaker 3: But Hasty and Johnson both are worthy of a roster spot. Yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 3: Johnson's going to be in the NFL. Yeah, and I
- 11:31Speaker 3: think he'll be here.
- 11:32Speaker 2: And again another example of guys who can play in
- 11:34Speaker 2: this league anyway.
- 11:35Speaker 1: And we hammered on this a bunch, but there are
- 11:37Speaker 1: going to be a lot of people that are cut
- 11:38Speaker 1: next week that end up on a different roster, especially
- 11:41Speaker 1: in those skill positions.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It's been that wait a long time around here.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I know it's a nice feeling, right. I want to
- 11:46Speaker 1: highlight Ben Bartch, not necessarily that he wouldn't have made
- 11:48Speaker 1: the roster, but we're seeing in practice for the first
- 11:50Speaker 1: time because he's been on the pup list after that
- 11:52Speaker 1: knee injury he suffered last year, and after all of
- 11:55Speaker 1: those offensive line injuries and issues we saw against Detroit.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He's coming back at the absolute perfect time. Obviously, everybody
- 12:02Speaker 1: on the offensive line is super versatile, can play multiple positions,
- 12:06Speaker 1: but you have to imagine that Ben Barch's coming back
- 12:08Speaker 1: at this point is like a breath of fresh air
- 12:10Speaker 1: for Rauser, who's been dealing with all these unknowns with
- 12:13Speaker 1: all of the injuries and then of course Cam's suspension
- 12:16Speaker 1: as well.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Start they think about it like this. Last week you
- 12:19Speaker 3: had to have Walker Little play at left guard because
- 12:21Speaker 3: they weren't going to put BArch into the game in
- 12:23Speaker 3: Detroit this week. If Anton Harrison's shoulder is bothering him
- 12:26Speaker 3: and you want to give him more time to get
- 12:28Speaker 3: ready for the regular season, you can move Little to
- 12:30Speaker 3: the right side. Because BArch is back and Cam Robinson
- 12:33Speaker 3: is still here, so it's critical that you've got him
- 12:35Speaker 3: for this game and maybe even Opening Day to give
- 12:38Speaker 3: you some sort of depth and versatility, which is the
- 12:41Speaker 3: thing we've talked about with this offensive line group.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Well, as much as you know, we're sort of gnashing
- 12:45Speaker 2: teeth on Monday about the depth and depth is still
- 12:49Speaker 2: a worry. Getting BArch back means you've got a decent
- 12:52Speaker 2: chance to have a very legitimate NFL starting line Week
- 12:55Speaker 2: one with little BArch, Fortner, Sheriff and Harrison. That's not
- 12:59Speaker 2: very far from what you would want your ideal starting
- 13:01Speaker 2: line to be around here. So depth a little bit
- 13:04Speaker 2: of an issue, particularly with Hodges being hurt and Wells,
- 13:09Speaker 2: but I think they feel okay with their depth other
- 13:13Speaker 2: than those guys, and they certainly feel good about that
- 13:15Speaker 2: five start.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You have to feel good about that position group, even
- 13:18Speaker 1: with what they have going on. So stay with us.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We're going to talk about some things going on around

- 13:38Speaker 1: Welcome back to jag zam and the Hundai Studios. We're
- 13:41Speaker 1: gonna talk a little bit about what's going on around
- 13:42Speaker 1: the league because we're getting ready to start the season,
- 13:44Speaker 1: so we got to keep track of everything. Jonathan Taylor,
- 13:47Speaker 1: all that drama in Indianapolis. They finally decided to let
- 13:50Speaker 1: him seek a trade. John to want to touch base
- 13:52Speaker 1: with you. I'm sure you're not surprised by all that's
- 13:54Speaker 1: gone down, but it's gotten to this point.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I guess I'm surprised. I'm always amazed these days when teams.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I was amazed three or four years ago when this
- 14:05Speaker 2: team allowed Jalen Rams that he sort of forced his
- 14:07Speaker 2: way out. I guess I'm so old school Brian that
- 14:11Speaker 2: I think if you've got a great player and he
- 14:12Speaker 2: doesn't want to play there, you tell him, Okay, you're
- 14:14Speaker 2: gonna sit establish a precedent. GMS evidently don't believe in that,
- 14:20Speaker 2: and I'm sure there's some reason they don't. But for
- 14:23Speaker 2: the Colts, it's certainly if he seeks a trade.
- 14:27Speaker 3: It's hard to interpret.
- 14:29Speaker 2: That franchise as anything right now. But in major rebuild,
- 14:32Speaker 2: even if he doesn't seek a trade, he's a great back.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I understand his side of it, trying to get whatever
- 14:41Speaker 2: contract he can get at this age. But it's a mess,
- 14:47Speaker 2: and I guess they're trying to clean up eever they can.
- 14:49Speaker 2: And that feels like Major League hitting the reset.
- 14:52Speaker 3: But you remember when it seemed like the Colts were
- 14:54Speaker 3: living a charmed life. They went from Peyton Manning right
- 14:58Speaker 3: to Andrew Luck. They just had it all going and
- 15:02Speaker 3: you thought, you know, when's luck going to fall for
- 15:04Speaker 3: this team? Well now, I mean they seem to be
- 15:06Speaker 3: a complete disaster. I know the owner is unpredictable. Why
- 15:11Speaker 3: did he say we're not going to trade him if
- 15:14Speaker 3: two weeks later he says, all right, go ahead and
- 15:16Speaker 3: seek a trade. I mean that's the part. Who's in charge.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Is it Chris Ballard? Is he making the decisions and
- 15:22Speaker 3: leading the football strategy or is it Jim Mersay? And
- 15:24Speaker 3: if it's Jim Mersay, they're not anywhere close to being
- 15:28Speaker 3: out of it.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you can spend a long time trying to figure
- 15:33Speaker 2: out Jim Mersey's thoughts.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I'm sure we have enough show for that man.
- 15:36Speaker 3: And by the way, Anthony Richardson, who they're putting into
- 15:39Speaker 3: the starting lineup right away, even though nobody thinks that
- 15:42Speaker 3: he's ready to be an NFL quarterback this year, that
- 15:45Speaker 3: would be his best friend. I mean, how much more
- 15:48Speaker 3: effective is that young quarterback with that superstar back?
- 15:52Speaker 1: And you're really I'm questionable. I know they different philosophies
- 15:56Speaker 1: about playing rookies quarterbacks right out of the gate, but
- 16:00Speaker 1: the way it's set up in Indie right now, I'm
- 16:02Speaker 1: curious how that's actually going to play out. Actually, our
- 16:04Speaker 1: second thing we're going to talk about around the league,
- 16:06Speaker 1: the Colts and Eagles gotten into a little bit of
- 16:08Speaker 1: a brawl yesterday at their joint practice, and we saw
- 16:12Speaker 1: some other teams calling off their second week of joint
- 16:14Speaker 1: practices because of this very thing. It's getting a little
- 16:16Speaker 1: too competitive right at the end where you're kind of
- 16:18Speaker 1: feeling that physicality where we saw the Lions and Jags
- 16:22Speaker 1: get a little chippy, but nothing bad at all, and
- 16:23Speaker 1: I think that's where you want to keep it. But
- 16:25Speaker 1: some other teams are struggling with that. John, how do
- 16:28Speaker 1: you keep things light the last week before.
- 16:30Speaker 2: The I don't know. I've always considered training camp fights
- 16:33Speaker 2: like remember when you were kid, Brian hit sniffle fights.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Neither one wanted to fight, you know, that's sort of
- 16:40Speaker 2: what it feels like. You know, you're hitting each other
- 16:42Speaker 2: with helmets on. I get the boys that we boys thing.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Everybody's trying to man up or whatever that is. You know.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I think if you've got two teams, the Lions and
- 16:54Speaker 2: Jags kept things moderately under control. I thought the Jags
- 16:59Speaker 2: handled themselves well in that situation, trying to get good
- 17:02Speaker 2: workout of it. Of the Lions seemed like they stepped
- 17:05Speaker 2: over the line a couple of times. It wasn't tragic.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I think you've got to get the coaches where they
- 17:11Speaker 2: have the same philosophy on it.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I don't really think it's a big deal of teams
- 17:18Speaker 2: don't do this, But I think maybe in the future
- 17:21Speaker 2: teams will try to find like minded approaches, maybe a
- 17:26Speaker 2: little better than they have this year.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Oh you know, I thought last week the Lions and
- 17:28Speaker 3: the Jaguars represented the coaches pretty well, right. I mean,
- 17:32Speaker 3: Doug is reserved and very intellectual in his approach to
- 17:37Speaker 3: it right. You never see him get too high or
- 17:39Speaker 3: too low. And he told us in the production meeting
- 17:42Speaker 3: that he was really impressed with the way that his
- 17:44Speaker 3: team handled the Lions' aggressiveness. The Lions coach Dan Campbell
- 17:48Speaker 3: was a scrapper as a player, right, and the guy
- 17:50Speaker 3: whould to fight his way into the NFL and stay
- 17:53Speaker 3: by all means. The players love playing for him and
- 17:55Speaker 3: they've adopted some of his personality. Jack Campbell, the middle
- 17:58Speaker 3: linebacker Kamiski, the defense of Lyneman who was scrappy during
- 18:01Speaker 3: the game. I get it. Doug was really and it
- 18:04Speaker 3: sounds self serving on a Jaguar show, he was really
- 18:06Speaker 3: glad that his team just kind of walked away from
- 18:09Speaker 3: that and let it diffuse. I guess the Jets threw
- 18:12Speaker 3: the Buccaneers out of don't do practice, So maybe you
- 18:16Speaker 3: just do a one day, right, I mean, maybe maybe
- 18:18Speaker 3: day two is too much. Maybe if you're going to travel,
- 18:21Speaker 3: you have one day and then a day with your
- 18:22Speaker 3: own practice at the local high school or something like that.
- 18:25Speaker 3: They say they get good work out of it and
- 18:27Speaker 3: they want to do it. Or maybe you just choose
- 18:30Speaker 3: your team that you're going to go work with very carefully, Yes,
- 18:32Speaker 3: a little.
- 18:32Speaker 1: More particular about who you choose. Perhaps our final thing
- 18:35Speaker 1: from around the league, Aaron Rodgers and State Farm are
- 18:38Speaker 1: no longer together, so we're gonna have to get a
- 18:40Speaker 1: new celebration out of that. And then also in sponsorship deals,
- 18:43Speaker 1: Will Levis, the quarterback for the Titans, or at one
- 18:46Speaker 1: point will be the quarterback for the Titans, has a
- 18:48Speaker 1: lifetime deal with Hellman's Mayonnaise after he put mayonnaise in
- 18:52Speaker 1: his coffee for those tiktoks. So I wanted to ask you, guys,
- 18:55Speaker 1: if you could have a sponsorship deal, who would you
- 18:57Speaker 1: want it to be with, Because I would not pick.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Man a lot of times.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Supply of mayonnaise would would mean about three jars for me.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Probably it would.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Be none for me. I hate it.
- 19:11Speaker 2: I'll pass. Go ahead, Brian, I'll come back to it.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Well.
- 19:16Speaker 1: In the line of food, is that anything you want
- 19:19Speaker 1: to do, like, what would you never get sick of having?
- 19:21Speaker 2: Like?
- 19:21Speaker 1: I would do Dunkin Donuts because I want caffeine and
- 19:23Speaker 1: donuts at all times, so I would never get sick
- 19:26Speaker 1: of that.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I can appreciate that. Just from local flavor from last week,
- 19:31Speaker 3: I really like Buddy's pizza that pizza place you went to,
- 19:34Speaker 3: if you'd send if they'd send me one from Detroit
- 19:36Speaker 3: every week, just one, right, because I'd have to share
- 19:40Speaker 3: it so I wouldn't blow up like a balloon. But
- 19:42Speaker 3: it was delicious.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Does Mercedes Benz give I'll go Bell's Two Harded Brewery
- 19:52Speaker 2: my lifetime sponsorship. They're they're a Michigan brewery and uh,
- 19:55Speaker 2: all right, they're my They're kind of my I p a.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Were they before last week or did last week cement
- 20:01Speaker 3: it for you? No, they've been for a long time.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Okay, A man, unfortunately probably don't listen to this show,
- 20:05Speaker 2: so there'll be no deal coming.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Well, I'll just send that there way, all right, stay
- 20:08Speaker 1: with us. We'll talk a little bit about what we've
- 20:10Speaker 1: got coming up tomorrow and the rest of the week.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Jags fans, if you want customized Jaguars furniture for your home,
- 20:20Speaker 1: check out zipchare dot com to browse all customizable options.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Zipchair is furniture for fans. The practice is back outside
- 20:27Speaker 1: today and it's later in the afternoon, right in the sun,
- 20:29Speaker 1: so they're getting ready for them weather a little bit,
- 20:32Speaker 1: and then they're going to face off against the Dolphins
- 20:33Speaker 1: on Saturday, this final preseason game we've heard so far,
- 20:36Speaker 1: we're going to hear see the starters, hopefully the entire
- 20:38Speaker 1: first half, depending what we see from the Dolphins, how
- 20:42Speaker 1: much of their starters we see. What are you looking
- 20:44Speaker 1: forward to in that game? Is it just getting off
- 20:46Speaker 1: to a fast start.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle Wattle and Hill.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 20:50Speaker 3: We didn't see that combination last year, and that is legit,
- 20:54Speaker 3: world class speed. What a great tune up for Tyson
- 20:57Speaker 3: Campbell and Darius Williams and anyone else that the Warsgregg Junior,
- 21:01Speaker 3: whoever they put out there against that kind of ability.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you'd like to see some offensive efficiency
- 21:06Speaker 2: the first team offense. I feel confidence this offense is
- 21:08Speaker 2: going to be really, really good. I think as an offense,
- 21:12Speaker 2: they would love to see you've got what fifteen days
- 21:16Speaker 2: until the opener. From that, it's always good to get
- 21:19Speaker 2: a couple of touchdowns. I feel like you've moved efficiently
- 21:22Speaker 2: for this team. I think that would be a great
- 21:26Speaker 2: tone setter going into Week one.
- 21:28Speaker 3: As a broadcaster, the final preseason game always felt like
- 21:31Speaker 3: a big lift, right. It felt like it was laborious
- 21:35Speaker 3: because there were so many young guys that were gonna play.
- 21:37Speaker 3: This is exciting to me because the final preseason game
- 21:40Speaker 3: we get so much of a look at what they're
- 21:43Speaker 3: going to be. That'll make it fun and I think
- 21:46Speaker 3: there'll be a lot of people watching, listening, and in
- 21:49Speaker 3: the stadium because a it's the only home preseason game
- 21:51Speaker 3: and be they're playing starters.
- 21:53Speaker 1: In the final an actual peak at what we're gonna
- 21:55Speaker 1: see in the regular season. Tomorrow will do a full
- 21:58Speaker 1: deep dive into Miami and what they're going to be
- 22:00Speaker 1: facing off against in that game. But until then, we'll
- 22:03Speaker 1: see you on Thursday morning.
