- 0:00Welcome to Future Forward, where we explore the
- 0:02innovations shaping our tomorrow. Today, we're
- 0:06looking at a groundbreaking shift in the fight
- 0:09against the global water crisis. Yeah. It's driven
- 0:12by one of the world's most prestigious awards.
- 0:15We are, Sarah. The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
- 0:19Global Water Award has always, you know, been
- 0:22at the forefront of driving scalable and sustainable
- 0:25water solutions. Right. But now, in its fifth
- 0:29cycle, it's turning to a powerful new ally, artificial
- 0:33intelligence. That's the game changer. AI is
- 0:37now a formal part of the award's evaluation framework.
- 0:40Under the creativity and innovation criteria,
- 0:43there's this new emphasis on how applicants are
- 0:45using AI -driven models and machine learning
- 0:49algorithms to solve water challenges. It's a
- 0:53move that really reflects where the most advanced
- 0:55research is already heading. Absolutely. The
- 0:58vision behind this was articulated perfectly
- 1:01by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayr, the
- 1:05chairman of the Board of Trustees at Sukia. He
- 1:08said, and I quote, Wow. Okay. That's huge. It
- 1:39is. He continues, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al
- 1:43Maktoum Global Water Award, which supports the
- 1:45UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence
- 1:482031, is supervised by the UAE Water Aid Foundation,
- 1:53Sukia UAE, with total prizes amounting to USD
- 1:561 million. The award plays a vital role in building
- 2:00a solid foundation for research, development,
- 2:03and innovation. Right. as well as facilitating
- 2:06comprehensive analysis and in -depth studies.
- 2:09So getting into the details. Exactly. And this
- 2:13approach enables the delivery of cost -effective,
- 2:16high -impact resources and solutions to communities
- 2:19most in need of water. That's the core of it.
- 2:22Yes. And finally, the award also serves as a
- 2:25comprehensive global platform harnessing innovation
- 2:28and advanced technologies to secure a brighter
- 2:31and more sustainable future for humanity. It's
- 2:34such a clear and ambitious mandate. In practice,
- 2:39this means award evaluators will assess how effectively
- 2:42AI is used to, say, automate operations, predict
- 2:46water demand, and even discover optimal materials
- 2:49for new purification systems. It's about building
- 2:53intelligent water infrastructure from the ground
- 2:55up. And this isn't, you know, a new award starting
- 2:59from scratch. No, not at all. It builds on a
- 3:02really strong legacy. Over four cycles, it has
- 3:05already recognized 43 winners from 26 countries.
- 3:09Wow. And that was celebrating technologies that
- 3:12use renewable energy to produce, desalinate,
- 3:15and purify water. So with categories for projects,
- 3:19R &D, individuals, and crisis solutions, this
- 3:23new focus on AI is just set to accelerate that
- 3:27impact exponentially. By integrating AI so deeply,
- 3:31the award is doing more than just funding projects.
- 3:34Right. It's actively shaping the future of intelligent,
- 3:38sustainable water technology for the entire world.
- 3:41Now, here's a question we'd like you to think
- 3:43about. Okay. Beyond water, what other fundamental
- 3:47human challenge do you think could be transformed
- 3:50by making AI a central part of the solution -finding
- 3:54process?
