- 0:25Speaker 1: who have had a really tough year and be able
- 0:27Speaker 1: to help any way we can. And Tricia, we got
- 0:30Speaker 1: a nomination from your friend. Are you familiar with Kayla Lower?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, I taught many years with her.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And where did you teach with her?
- 0:38Speaker 2: In DGF.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Well, Kayla wanted the whole world to know that not
- 0:43Speaker 1: only are you an amazing mother, teacher, friend and all
- 0:45Speaker 1: around great person, but you've really really gone through it
- 0:48Speaker 1: this year. Do you mind telling us what happened? Maybe
- 0:51Speaker 1: take us back to about April.
- 0:53Speaker 2: April I was having headache, and in the past was
- 0:57Speaker 2: about eighteen. I had problems with having headaches for a
- 1:00Speaker 2: couple of years, and I thought it was just that,
- 1:03Speaker 2: but I was getting my words mixed up to my
- 1:05Speaker 2: son and my husband mentioned that. So I went into
- 1:07Speaker 2: the doctor and I found out that I had something
- 1:12Speaker 2: in my head that I ended up having surgery in
- 1:17Speaker 2: May and found out that I had brain cancer. But
- 1:23Speaker 2: it's been I've been so lucky. I have so many
- 1:26Speaker 2: great friends and so many people praying for me, and
- 1:31Speaker 2: I just I've been very, very lucky. So unfortunately, I
- 1:35Speaker 2: haven't been teaching this year, and I really miss seeing
- 1:38Speaker 2: the staff and the students. But I've been being keeping busy.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I was going to speech once a week. Now I'm
- 1:46Speaker 2: going twice week or I'm sorry, twice a month, and
- 1:51Speaker 2: just working on getting all my words going.
- 1:54Speaker 1: How many kids do you have?
- 1:55Speaker 2: I have three. I have two t twin girls who
- 1:59Speaker 2: are twenty one years old. Oh and then my little
- 2:03Speaker 2: boy is sixteen. He's a sophomore in Holly Trisia.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Can I also ask you a question, for all the
- 2:09Speaker 3: intense things that are going on in your life right now,
- 2:12Speaker 3: how do you have such a positive attitude? You mentioned
- 2:14Speaker 3: multiple times how lucky you are, and I just I'm
- 2:18Speaker 3: kind of curious where do you find that.
- 2:21Speaker 2: That's a great question. I mean, I do have a
- 2:25Speaker 2: great I have a big faith and even going into surgery.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I wasn't scared that they're in you be cutting my
- 2:32Speaker 2: head open. It just I've been really I've just had
- 2:35Speaker 2: a really strong face since the beginning of it, and
- 2:37Speaker 2: I believe it is a lot because of everyone supporting
- 2:40Speaker 2: and praying for me. That's even strengthened my faith.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I know that you are an amazing mom, and I
- 2:47Speaker 1: can only imagine especially you're doing God's work as a teacher,
- 2:50Speaker 1: and just the support that you have in DGF and
- 2:53Speaker 1: Holly and everybody wrapping their arms around you. I know
- 2:56Speaker 1: that probably feels really good. But as you're going through
- 2:59Speaker 1: are you still going to your chemo treatments?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yes, yep, I have a couple more months of that.
- 3:03Speaker 1: As you're going through this journey, I can't help but
- 3:05Speaker 1: think the doctor bills everything, it's got to be adding up.
- 3:09Speaker 1: And with the holidays around the corner, having kids missing
- 3:12Speaker 1: out on work, I can't imagine how that feels.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's a lot. But again, I've been lucky and blessed them.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Anyways, Kayla is just one of the many people that
- 3:23Speaker 1: are thinking about you. But she went to Big nine
- 3:25Speaker 1: eight seven dot com and nominated you for a big
- 3:27Speaker 1: Christmas wish and we wanted to give you on behalf
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the big ninety eight point seven Christmas Wish and
- 3:33Speaker 1: Gatewish Chevrolet and Heartland Chevy Dealers. We wanted to give
- 3:36Speaker 1: you a check for one thousand dollars just to ease
- 3:38Speaker 1: a little bit of this burden over the holidays so
- 3:40Speaker 1: you can make it a joyous holiday.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That's very that's amazing. We appreciate it a lot.
- 3:46Speaker 1: You are so welcome and we wish you nothing but
- 3:49Speaker 1: the best. And you're going to keep fighting and you're
- 3:51Speaker 1: doing such a great job. And I think there's a
- 3:52Speaker 1: lot of people listening right now. Like Gaba kind of mentioned,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I mean, you're bringing even though you're going through it,
- 3:57Speaker 1: you're bringing a lot of light to the world and
- 3:59Speaker 1: you're being so positive and that is simply amazing.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Well, thank you for your call, and I appreciate it all.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of people who could learn
- 4:08Speaker 3: a little life lesson from Tricia today.
