- 0:00And we're live in the Duncan Music Lounge here in our headquarters in Hartford with
- 0:03Jim Moore, the head coach of the Yukon Huskies. The toughest position you
- 0:07I think you may have said this before. Were you a defensive back?
- 0:11First of all? Yes? I was. Okay, So that's the toughest
- 0:13position in football, isn't it. There's been some tough dudes to play that
- 0:17position. You know, my favorite player of all time Ronnie Lott. He
- 0:20was a pretty good player. So yeah, but I wouldn't want to them.
- 0:24Okay, that was pretty average. I'm not sure I could have covered
- 0:27you. You might want to think about that for a second. Well,
- 0:33let's get to the safeties. Durante Jones. Yeah, he might be my
- 0:37favorite football player that I've ever met. The dude is up here in his
- 0:43energy level, in his want to and if I was playing football at that
- 0:47level and could play football, I want that guy standing next to me.
- 0:51Yeah. I can't disagree with you. You know, he has a special
- 0:55place in my heart. I mean, I love all our players, but
- 0:58the passion, the energy intensity, Uh like this, this drive he has
- 1:04to be great and to know everything. It's it's it's unique. It's rare,
- 1:10you know, and Uh, you love being around guys like that.
- 1:14You know, that's what you want as a coach. You want men like
- 1:17Durante and unfortunately we've got a lot of those guys. But this guy,
- 1:21there's something extra special about him. And uh, man, you want to
- 1:25fight beside a guy like that. Yeah, Malik Dixon Williams. I like
- 1:27him. He's got two names. I like that. I wish I had
- 1:30two names, but I only have one. I love his intelligence, I
- 1:34love his range, I love his athleticism, his ability to catch the football,
- 1:40his versatility, and his personality. You know, Durante is hyped up
- 1:44and and just full of intensity, and Malik is a little bit more calm
- 1:48and focused and uh does a tremendous job of communicating. So we're lucky to
- 1:53have two pretty darn good safety The cornerback position is you're on an island.
- 1:57We all know that it's the hardest thing to do as you're gonna go single
- 2:00up coverage with guys. Tell us about the corners now, Chris Sharon,
- 2:04it's going to see some time. Obviously, Chris got burned in that NC
- 2:07State game last year. I'm sure Yeah, in his mind, he's going,
- 2:10I can't wait to play these guys. Well, well, I'm not
- 2:13going to put him in that coverage again, I can tell you that.
- 2:15But Chris is really Chris is you know, Chris is a nickel for us.
- 2:21He's more of a safety nickel guy. Uh, he works with the
- 2:24safeties, but he's a really good nickel, you know, which is your
- 2:28inside kind of slot corner. I like him a lot. And then you
- 2:31know, we've got some new guys that are like, uh, you know,
- 2:35Amarni Archer who's a transfer, and Torrian White who's a good player.
- 2:39He's a transfer. And then Demon Brnson stepped up, and Mumu has come
- 2:44in from West Virginia and he's a transfer and he's a good player. And
- 2:49then Malcolm Bell's a returner. So there's some there's some depth there. Uh.
- 2:53That position has really not yet sorted itself out in terms of who the
- 2:57starter is going to be. I think there'll probably be a little rotation there,
- 3:01depending on who we're playing, what we want to feature that week in
- 3:06terms of our scheme. But I think we've got a good group there,
- 3:12and I know they're very well coached by Dalton Hilliard. All right, we're
- 3:15gonna go to quick break back to wrap it up with Jim Mora. This
- 3:17is the Yukon Football Coaches Show, Live from Hartford
