Transcript
- 0:17Speaker 1: Hello, beautiful beans, and welcome to the podcast Self Love Miniseries.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Episode of the Day. Today we're doing self love slash
- 0:26Speaker 1: self worth. Okay, so this is obviously a key, key,
- 0:32Speaker 1: key pillar of self love. It's how we value ourselves,
- 0:35Speaker 1: how worthy we feel, because no matter what anyone says,
- 0:40Speaker 1: like it's all well and good to hear those like
- 0:43Speaker 1: fucking quotes like you're good enough as you are, you're
- 0:46Speaker 1: good enough as you are, But that quote alone isn't
- 0:48Speaker 1: going to change shit. It's not gonna help you feel
- 0:51Speaker 1: any better. Because at the end of the day, if
- 0:53Speaker 1: you can't see where you're worth is where your value lies,
- 0:56Speaker 1: and someone's like, oh, you're just good enough, you're not
- 0:58Speaker 1: gonna feel good. Okay. We have to value ourselves in
- 1:03Speaker 1: order to feel good. And it's not to say that
- 1:06Speaker 1: you know, people are more valuable than other people or
- 1:10Speaker 1: who It's not about that. It's how can I determine
- 1:14Speaker 1: what my worth is and what my value is in
- 1:16Speaker 1: order to feel good, Because if you feel worthless and
- 1:18Speaker 1: someone's like, but you're good enough, but you're good enough,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you're still gonna feel worthless, okay. And if you feel worthless,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you don't have self love. Okay, self worth, self love
- 1:27Speaker 1: they go hand in hand. It's impossible to have like
- 1:30Speaker 1: one without the other. Okay, so we are talking about
- 1:34Speaker 1: how to increase your self worth as that is, like
- 1:36Speaker 1: I think the number one, if not the the most
- 1:40Speaker 1: important precursor to self love. Now, I think we've got
- 1:43Speaker 1: like four key points that I want to get through.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So the first one is how can I start providing
- 1:50Speaker 1: real value for myself and also for the people around me.
- 1:54Speaker 1: When I have a day where I feel like I
- 1:57Speaker 1: have provided value, I'm going to feel a whole lot better.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Because our life does not exist in a vortex. We
- 2:04Speaker 1: don't just get up, drink some fucking water, eat a meal,
- 2:08Speaker 1: sit down, stare at a wall all day long, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: then miraculously just feel so fucking good about ourselves. The
- 2:14Speaker 1: times that we feel good about ourselves is when we've
- 2:16Speaker 1: done stuff that provide value. Whether it's things to better ourselves,
- 2:20Speaker 1: whether it's like I've learned something, I've studied, something I've
- 2:23Speaker 1: worked on, something I've worked on a project, I've worked
- 2:25Speaker 1: on my health, whether it's I've gone and helped this person,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I've I've volunteered for this thing, I've gone to help
- 2:31Speaker 1: my friend move. I've gone and been a shoulder for
- 2:34Speaker 1: them to cry on. I have, you know, gone and
- 2:37Speaker 1: lifted someone's mood by being like the comedian for them
- 2:39Speaker 1: for the day. Whatever the fuck it is, You've got
- 2:42Speaker 1: to ask yourself, how am I providing real value every
- 2:46Speaker 1: single day? Now? Don't get ahead of yourself and don't
- 2:49Speaker 1: make it this out of worldly. Oh my god, I
- 2:51Speaker 1: need to start a charity kind of shit. Okay, we're
- 2:54Speaker 1: talking about realistic today. What can I do where I'm
- 2:59Speaker 1: providing real value? A really basic one is go deeper
- 3:03Speaker 1: than a surface level interaction with somebody. So if you
- 3:06Speaker 1: feel like you know those times where you like feel
- 3:10Speaker 1: your friend wants to meet up with you, and you're like,
- 3:12Speaker 1: I've just got too much shit to do, maybe i
- 3:15Speaker 1: should cancel maybe this, But then you end up hanging
- 3:17Speaker 1: out with that friend and then you walk away feeling like,
- 3:19Speaker 1: oh my god, my life is so much better, Like
- 3:21Speaker 1: I'm so glad I had that interaction. I feel like
- 3:24Speaker 1: I've really connected. I feel listened to, I feel heard,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I feel like a weight's been lifted off my chest.
- 3:31Speaker 1: That shit you could do for somebody else, right, and
- 3:35Speaker 1: when you do that for someone else, when you have
- 3:37Speaker 1: a deeper level interaction, not just a comment, not like
- 3:39Speaker 1: hey or a text or like a quick like genuine,
- 3:43Speaker 1: genuine interaction with somebody where you show that you care,
- 3:47Speaker 1: that you value them, that you miss them, that you're
- 3:49Speaker 1: thinking about them, that you remember a funny story. You
- 3:52Speaker 1: already feel like you have provided value. So a simple
- 3:55Speaker 1: exercise would be, for example, is to send a friend
- 3:59Speaker 1: a message saying they remember the time that you and
- 4:03Speaker 1: I did and you bring up a great fucking anecdote
- 4:06Speaker 1: of your lives, a funny story, anything, and say that
- 4:10Speaker 1: memory comes up every so often and it really makes
- 4:12Speaker 1: my day, and I want to thank you for creating
- 4:15Speaker 1: that memory with me. Do you know how much that's
- 4:17Speaker 1: going to make someone's day to hear that, Like, my
- 4:19Speaker 1: friends have done that with me, and it literally like
- 4:22Speaker 1: has me laughing out loud, It has me like, it's
- 4:24Speaker 1: just it's fucking the best. So I highly recommend you
- 4:27Speaker 1: do that. So you've got to ask yourself, what can
- 4:30Speaker 1: I uniquely bring into someone's life where I'm providing value,
- 4:34Speaker 1: where therefore I feel more valuable, Okay, because that's just
- 4:39Speaker 1: how it is. Unfortunately, you know, I don't within a
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, obviously rapists aside, but everyone has roughly the
- 4:48Speaker 1: same value. It's not like I think that there are
- 4:50Speaker 1: people that are less worthy than other people. But you
- 4:53Speaker 1: are definitely going to be more worthy to an individual
- 4:57Speaker 1: versus someone else. Like if I've got someone in my
- 4:59Speaker 1: life life that never gives a fuck, doesn't ever like
- 5:02Speaker 1: ask questions, doesn't ever check in, doesn't know their value
- 5:06Speaker 1: in my life. So like, obviously within you know, within
- 5:10Speaker 1: the parameters of my perspective is going to be lower
- 5:14Speaker 1: than my best friend, right, And so you've got to
- 5:17Speaker 1: think where is my value in the lives of people
- 5:19Speaker 1: around me that I care about and in my own life? Okay,
- 5:22Speaker 1: So you've got to think what you know? Is it empathy?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Is it support? Is it you know, reliability? What makes
- 5:30Speaker 1: you worthy in the people that you loves life? What
- 5:33Speaker 1: makes you irreplaceable? And also to yourself? What makes you
- 5:37Speaker 1: worthy to you? Okay? What can I do for myself
- 5:40Speaker 1: that I'm like, Fuck, I'm so glad I did that
- 5:42Speaker 1: for myself. I'm so glad I did that for my
- 5:44Speaker 1: future self. I'm so glad I enrolled in that thing
- 5:46Speaker 1: or tried that thing or did that thing. Okay, sense
- 5:55Speaker 1: the next one? Number two is to actually give a shit.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Actually give a shit. Okay, so this is listen when
- 6:03Speaker 1: someone's talking, remember the details, ask follow up questions. Okay,
- 6:09Speaker 1: care about someone's stories. And this is a really hard one,
- 6:12Speaker 1: but read the room and try and figure out when
- 6:15Speaker 1: I should intervene with my version of that story or
- 6:18Speaker 1: when it's just time to listen to that story. Because
- 6:22Speaker 1: I think everyone's like, oh my god, it's just an
- 6:24Speaker 1: ADHD thing where I have to tell my side of
- 6:26Speaker 1: the story in order. I think it extends further than ADHD.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I think a lot of people think, myself included that
- 6:33Speaker 1: when someone's telling a story, I want to share my
- 6:35Speaker 1: story so we feel connected. And to an extent, it's
- 6:37Speaker 1: very true. It is a way of connecting. But read
- 6:40Speaker 1: the room. If someone's telling like a really hard story
- 6:43Speaker 1: where they're emotional and where they're upset, now is not
- 6:46Speaker 1: the time. A bit later on for sure, so they
- 6:48Speaker 1: can see how you dealt with that same thing, but
- 6:50Speaker 1: this is the time to be like, I can be
- 6:52Speaker 1: their shoulder to cryn I can be the person that
- 6:54Speaker 1: they can vent to. I can be their safe space,
- 6:56Speaker 1: their vulnerable space. I can provide that for them. And
- 6:59Speaker 1: then when we leave this interaction, they're going to be like, Wow,
- 7:02Speaker 1: someone actually cares for me, someone actually loves me when
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm going through this really hard time. If it's like
- 7:07Speaker 1: a more light hearted story, share your fucking light hearted
- 7:10Speaker 1: story too. I love that shit. Now. The next thing
- 7:13Speaker 1: is when we talk about giving a shit still in
- 7:16Speaker 1: Number two is when we start to care. That starts
- 7:21Speaker 1: to build oxytocin. It starts to build on this like
- 7:25Speaker 1: bonding chemical. The more you start to feel bonded with
- 7:30Speaker 1: the people around you and with your relationship with yourself,
- 7:33Speaker 1: the calmer you feel, the lower your stress levels, the
- 7:35Speaker 1: lower your anxiety levels. Okay, so all these things are
- 7:38Speaker 1: contributing on a chemical level to how you start to
- 7:42Speaker 1: feel anxiety. And you know, low self respect and low
- 7:46Speaker 1: self love go hand in hand, Okay, because you're always
- 7:49Speaker 1: second guessing yourself, you're always doubting yourself. So it's really, really,
- 7:52Speaker 1: really important. It's fucking crucial that you do things that
- 7:56Speaker 1: are going to change your brain on a chemical level
- 7:58Speaker 1: as well. Okay. Number three, respect your body and mind.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So self respect is shown through actions. Yesterday we spoke
- 8:10Speaker 1: about negative self talk and conversations that we have with ourselves.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But I think The biggest pillar of self respect is
- 8:17Speaker 1: in the actions of how you treat yourself. Okay, how
- 8:21Speaker 1: are you following through with how you said you were
- 8:23Speaker 1: going to treat yourself? Okay? What are you doing for
- 8:26Speaker 1: your sleep? What are you doing to fuel yourself properly?
- 8:29Speaker 1: What kind of foods are you putting into your body?
- 8:31Speaker 1: And I'm not some nutrition nutrition experts saying I'm the
- 8:35Speaker 1: last person. Maybe not the last person, but I'm like
- 8:38Speaker 1: the middle ground person that you would go to talk
- 8:40Speaker 1: about these things. But within reason? Am I fucking hydrating myself?
- 8:45Speaker 1: Am I having a bit of a balanced diant? If
- 8:47Speaker 1: I've gone and eaten shit for the last three days?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Love that so much for me? Good times? What am
- 8:52Speaker 1: I going to do over the next three days? Maybe
- 8:54Speaker 1: you throw in a fucking some vitamins and a salad, Like,
- 8:57Speaker 1: just what am I doing? That's showing like, Oh, I'm
- 8:59Speaker 1: actually caring for my body? I'm actually am I eating protein?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Can't like? Am I eating protein? Because if you're not
- 9:06Speaker 1: eat some protein? Okay? Things like that. You know, another
- 9:10Speaker 1: thing that you can do is well physically move your
- 9:14Speaker 1: body is one of the best things you can do
- 9:15Speaker 1: for your mental health. But also boundaries. How am I
- 9:18Speaker 1: setting boundaries with other people physically and psychologically? What am
- 9:22Speaker 1: I doing to respect my body, my mind, myself? Okay?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Another one is, you know, not putting up with an
- 9:31Speaker 1: unsolicited comment, not putting up with being mistreated if someone
- 9:35Speaker 1: and you know, like and when I talk about setting boundaries,
- 9:37Speaker 1: I've got whole episodes on that. So I don't want
- 9:38Speaker 1: to dive into date because then this is going to
- 9:40Speaker 1: extend way past the fifteen twenty minute mark. But one
- 9:44Speaker 1: of the things that you can people think are boundaries
- 9:46Speaker 1: this really difficult thing where they've got to be this
- 9:48Speaker 1: really confident person and they don't have the confidence. But
- 9:51Speaker 1: a boundaries simply if you can't, if you don't have
- 9:54Speaker 1: anything to say, if you're like I just don't have
- 9:56Speaker 1: the balls to stand up, it's just removing yourself from
- 9:59Speaker 1: a situation that's not right for you. Okay, you don't
- 10:02Speaker 1: even have to explain yourself if you don't feel comfortable.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But it's like this is the time for me to leave,
- 10:06Speaker 1: or it's saying I'm not going to be able to
- 10:08Speaker 1: make it tonight, thank you so much for the invite,
- 10:11Speaker 1: And you don't have to explain the reason I don't
- 10:13Speaker 1: want to be here is because you always fucking put
- 10:14Speaker 1: me down and I cannot handle this today. Okay. Now,
- 10:17Speaker 1: the last thing that I want you to do is
- 10:19Speaker 1: focus on ways that you can always keep growing. Okay.
- 10:24Speaker 1: The more you grow mentally physically, well it's in like
- 10:28Speaker 1: you know, physical skills that you can grow on, the
- 10:31Speaker 1: happier you are going to be. It's one of my
- 10:33Speaker 1: three pillars of happiness, growth, connection and purpose. Growth growth, growth,
- 10:35Speaker 1: growth growth. If we can always focus on how we
- 10:37Speaker 1: are growing, then we are always going to feel like
- 10:40Speaker 1: a level of satisfaction within our lives. Ask yourself, like,
- 10:44Speaker 1: what are things where I can improve on that's going
- 10:47Speaker 1: to equal growth. Healthier habits within my life, whether it's
- 10:49Speaker 1: behavioral habits or like eating habits, New skills, better relationships,
- 10:54Speaker 1: like really focus on building where relationships is that I'm
- 10:57Speaker 1: I'm moving to this other country and seek I promise
- 11:01Speaker 1: myself I'm going to have conversational level of that language
- 11:03Speaker 1: in that timeframe. So every day you're doing an hour
- 11:06Speaker 1: an hour and a half towards that language, You're going
- 11:09Speaker 1: to feel fucking good about yourself. You're going to be
- 11:11Speaker 1: able to tick off all these things. Okay, so I
- 11:15Speaker 1: want you to track where you can improve and where
- 11:17Speaker 1: you can keep expanding. This idea of for a growth
- 11:20Speaker 1: mindset as well makes you more likely to tackle bigger things,
- 11:24Speaker 1: to do harder things in your life. It makes you
- 11:26Speaker 1: more likely to actually follow through with hard things. I've
- 11:30Speaker 1: got a whole episode on growth mindset versus fixed mindset.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Please go check it out, because it literally shows you
- 11:35Speaker 1: that when we have this growth mindset, we are up
- 11:38Speaker 1: to a challenge, we're okay with failing, We're likely to
- 11:41Speaker 1: stick something out a lot longer, and we're likely to
- 11:43Speaker 1: feel a lot happier within ourselves regardless of the outcome,
- 11:46Speaker 1: but just because of the effort that we've put into something. Okay,
- 11:49Speaker 1: So every day, morning, night, whenever you want, I want
- 11:54Speaker 1: you to do this daily practice. Very simple. Number One,
- 11:56Speaker 1: ask yourself, am I providing value to myself, to someone else,
- 11:59Speaker 1: to the world? Like? Where and how am I providing value?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Number two? Do I actually demonstrate that I give a
- 12:05Speaker 1: shit about others? Sometimes we get so wrapped up in
- 12:07Speaker 1: what's going on in our lives that we're like, I
- 12:09Speaker 1: don't think i've checked in with anyone yet. Maybe it's
- 12:12Speaker 1: maybe I should check in because when you do something
- 12:14Speaker 1: for someone else, it actually feels good for yourself. Okay,
- 12:18Speaker 1: Am I respecting my body and mind? And if so,
- 12:22Speaker 1: how and if not? How could I be today? Something little?
- 12:25Speaker 1: What's something little that shows that I respect? And Number
- 12:28Speaker 1: four based on my actions, based on my answers of
- 12:31Speaker 1: the last three questions, what can I improve today? Is
- 12:35Speaker 1: it one thing? Is it? Three things? Is that I'm
- 12:37Speaker 1: going to reach out to a friend, and I'm also
- 12:39Speaker 1: not going to be on my phone for the last
- 12:41Speaker 1: hour of the day, and I'm going to do twenty
- 12:43Speaker 1: minutes of this language that I want to learn, Like
- 12:45Speaker 1: what little things that I can do where I can
- 12:47Speaker 1: start focusing on all the different points that I've hit today. Okay,
- 12:53Speaker 1: but basically the main thing is that self love is
- 12:55Speaker 1: something that only you can provide for yourself obviously, same
- 12:58Speaker 1: as self respect. All right, that is all for today's episode.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Thank you so much for tuning in and listening, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: as always, remember becond to yourself, becond to your brain,
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't take shit from anyone, and especially don't take shit
- 13:09Speaker 1: from yourself from don't care
