  Speaker 1: The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning.
• 0:19
Speaker 1: It's the all-electric pickup truck from Ford Motor Company.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: It comes in these trim levels the Pro, the XLT, the Flash, the Lariat, the Platinum.
• 0:29
Speaker 1: I had the Lightning 4x4 SuperCrew XLT.
• 0:34
Speaker 2: That was a nice truck.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: This is considered a standard pickup truck half-ton version electric.
• 0:39
Speaker 1: It seats five people inside.
• 0:41
Speaker 1: The truck was all new in 2022, and obviously it's based off of the body is based off of the Ford F-150 half-ton F-150 body with side front grille, with a solid front grille that is almost a mirror of the gasoline version with the surround lighting that it has on it.
• 1:04
Speaker 1: The difference is it's not a grill, it's just a plastic panel that looks like a grill up there and it hides the frunk.
• 1:11
Speaker 1: And I forgot about the frunk and the guy that delivered it to me.
• 1:15
Speaker 1: I said hey, man, where's the charger?
• 1:16
  Speaker 1: Where's the 110 charger?
• 1:18
Speaker 1: It's in the frunk.
• 1:19
Speaker 2: Ow, I forgot about the frunk.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: He thought you were calling him a name.
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: Wheel.
• 1:25
Speaker 1: I forgot about the front.
• 1:26
Speaker 1: He thought you were calling him a name.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: Wheel styling matches trim level Other than lightning badging.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: The rear is the same as the gasoline counterpart.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: What I like the left front fender charge port.
• 1:35
Speaker 1: That came in handy for me If I were to offer any suggestions to the Ford Motor Company.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: Find a way to put that charge port in the front.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: I saw a car and I don't know what it was that was parked next to me at the charging place and it had a port that was in the front, in the grill area.
• 1:57
Speaker 2: Oh, that would make sense.
• 1:59
Speaker 2: So it was on the front quarter panel or in the rear the.
• 2:02
Speaker 1: Lightning was on the left front quarter panel oh okay, okay, back toward quarter panel.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: Okay, back toward the door.
• 2:06
Speaker 1: Gotcha, put it in the front.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: That way I can access the charge cords on either side, because usually they don't put the charger directly in front of the car, it's off to the side one way or the other.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: So you either have to back it in or pull it in forward.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Well, this happened to be on the wrong side of the charger was over there.
• 2:25
Speaker 2: Charge port was over here, yeah, and you can't back it in because it's worse, it's too far, it's too long.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: Interior highlights Digital instrument cluster, optional infotainment, big screen in this, controls in all the right places.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: With a massive center console you could hide children in there.
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: Comfortable cloth seating.
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: Leather is available.
• 2:44
  Speaker 1: But it's a truck man.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: Keep it a truck, use it as a truck Cargo trunk room.
• 2:49
Speaker 1: Room in the front, standard big bed in the back.
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: You got it.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: What I liked about the charge ports inside the bed in the back.
• 2:59
Speaker 1: Not only that, but that's also where you can gain access to the electricity for your house if you want to run your house off the charger.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: On the f-150 wow, just saying uh, engine.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: Uh, this is the.
• 3:13
Speaker 1: I had the larger battery.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: The average is 575 horsepower.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Now, uh, new tech battery battery is coming out.
• 3:22
Speaker 1: The standard horsepower is 427.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: Transmission is direct drive.
• 3:27
Speaker 1: Obviously, lots of torque Toes 770 pounds, 235 pound-feet of torque Mileage, 76 in the city, 61 on the highway, for a combined of 68.
• 3:45
  Speaker 1: I got 2.2 miles per kilowatt-hour Over 381.9 miles.
• 3:49
Speaker 1: You do the math.
• 3:50
Speaker 2: I have no idea what that means.
• 3:51
Speaker 2: I'd take my shoes off for that one.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: Exactly, please don't Plenty of power and depending on the use, it could get down to a 100-mile range.
• 4:01
Speaker 1: If you're towing something, you tow something.
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: With this.
• 4:04
Speaker 1: It's going to suck that battery down.
• 4:06
Speaker 1: Pretty good Ride and handling.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: It's all-wheel drive, independent rear suspension.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: Front end is car-like, like a big car Off-road.
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: I didn't take it off-road, couldn't tell you about that.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: Base trim price $64,995.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: Price is tested $69,880.

• 4:44
Speaker 1: Mars, have you had this?
• 4:45
Speaker 1: Have you had one?
• 4:46
Speaker 1: No, sir, I have not.
• 4:47
Speaker 1: Well, it's interesting, it's different Only in their respect, really is the fact that it's electric.
• 4:53
Speaker 2: You know, you made the fact that if you tow something, the electricity or your range slows down, it sucks it down, it does it on all the vehicles though.
• 5:00
  Speaker 1: All the electrics?
• 5:00
Speaker 2: Yes, it does Well, but if you really look at it, your gasoline if you put a 10,000-pound trailer on the back of your truck.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely, yeah, you're still going to burn more.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: yeah, I wouldn't say that it's comparable though no, and to start off with you know, with a full charge on this one, this had the standard battery, not the high.
• 5:19
Speaker 1: And, matter of fact, ford said that they've come up with a whole new battery package.
• 5:23
Speaker 1: They're going to call it something different and it's going to get better gas mileage.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: But GM is doing the same thing.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: Uh, gone away is the ultium.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: They're not making the ultium battery at gm anymore.
• 5:36
Speaker 1: So, anyway, that's another story for another day.
• 5:37
Speaker 1: But I just wanted to let you know that it was a great ride.
• 5:40
Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it and charging wasn't that big of a deal.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: Uh, I charged it at home on the 110 and I charged it at work at 110 and, uh, I gave it to him with three quarters of a tank of gas in it so, so to speak, if you know what I mean.
• 5:55
Speaker 2: Well, I was in that, he took me somewhere and it's a nice truck.
• 5:58
  Speaker 2: It really is.
• 5:59
Speaker 2: It really is yeah For what it is, yeah, yeah.
• 6:03
Speaker 1: Okay, if you'd like to get in touch with us, shoot us an email.
• 6:06
Speaker 1: The address here is info at inwheeltimecom and see you tomorrow.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: Okay, time now for Jeff's weekly feature, talking about six-wheelers what?
• 6:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, six-wheelers, everybody's got to have one.
• 7:00
Speaker 2: My information on this is golden, because six-wheelers, six-wheel drive vehicles, why is it important?
• 7:05
Speaker 2: Well, vehicles aren't just for show anymore.
• 7:07
Speaker 2: However, there are many reasons why a vehicle might need six wheels.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: Means these vehicles have three axles, mike, not just two.
• 7:19
Speaker 2: So these vehicles are usually trucks, jeeps, all-terrain vehicles.
• 7:20
Speaker 2: Six-wheel vehicles aren't just for show, like we said.
• 7:21
Speaker 2: So here we go.
• 7:22
Speaker 2: For example, drivers who need to transport heavy goods or transverse rough, slippery terrain, six wheels will benefit that vehicle advantages.
• 7:31
Speaker 2: Using six wheels comes with many pros, including weight distribution, improved traction and increased stability.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: Better weight distribution the six-wheel vehicles are highly effective transporting heavy unwielding cargo.
• 7:43
  Speaker 2: Standard two-wheel axles can't do.
• 7:45
Speaker 2: Because more is better.
• 7:47
Speaker 2: The weight distribution is more evenly spaced out, reducing the strain on the wheels.
• 7:52
Speaker 2: Improved traction thanks to added weight, the increased number of wheels, you won't have to worry about your vehicle slipping and sliding on the rain, slick road.
• 8:00
Speaker 2: This is because the extra weight and wheels produce more traction.
• 8:04
Speaker 2: Because of the enhanced traction, six-wheel vehicles perform exceptionally well driving in mud, sand, snow, snow and that off-road area.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: So disadvantages here we go.
• 8:15
Speaker 2: There are many reasons why a driver would prefer six wheels, one with four wheels.
• 8:20
Speaker 2: Six-wheel vehicles are more difficult to repair, more expensive to maintain.
• 8:26
Speaker 2: They also are much harder to drive because of the increased weight, complex and lengthy repairs.
• 8:32
Speaker 2: When it comes to drawbacks of the six-wheel drive, most obvious is the one that repairs significantly more complicated, not to mention expensive.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: Uh, three pairs of wheels can be difficult to manage because you'll need to track and significantly buy more parts disadvantage for that vehicle.
• 8:50
Speaker 2: In addition, there are more.
• 8:51
Speaker 2: There are significantly more components to your vehicle.
• 8:54
Speaker 2: You will carry around more tools, spare parts and your vehicles should be in great shape if you're going to do that.
• 8:59
  Speaker 2: Increased maintenance costs.
• 9:01
Speaker 2: One of the biggest reasons the six-wheel vehicles aren't available in all automotive types is that they take up tremendous amounts of space when you repair them and a lot of maintenance.
• 9:10
Speaker 2: Where do you get something like that fixed?
• 9:12
Speaker 2: You can just come to my house, we'll fix it up Vehicle drag and weight.
• 9:16
Speaker 2: Well, we all know it's bigger, Bigger is better.
• 9:18
Speaker 2: This means the driving of a vehicle with six wheels can feel slower, clunkier and sluggish.
• 9:23
Speaker 2: Heavy vehicles also consume more fuel.
• 9:26
Speaker 2: So since more power is required to move that big weight, you need more fuel.
• 9:30
  Speaker 2: Wheels are heavy.
• 9:31
Speaker 2: Same can be said for the chassis.
• 9:33
Speaker 2: It's designed to accommodate three pairs of wheels.
• 9:36
Speaker 2: So there you go.
• 9:37
Speaker 2: That's why you need one.
• 9:38
Speaker 2: I think I saw like two in the past year actually on the road.
• 9:42
  Speaker 2: They're pretty Okay.
• 9:43
Speaker 2: Two in the past year actually on the road.
• 9:44
Speaker 1: They're pretty Okay, only in the owner's eyes.
