- 0:00Speaker 1: Now on The Voice of New York, it's the Mark
- 0:03Speaker 1: Simone Show on.
- 0:06Speaker 2: 710WOR.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Well, a lot to get to today. We'll go over this,
- 0:18Speaker 1: whatever that was last night. They call it a midterm convention.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It was a bit of a mess. We'll get to that.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Oil prices are spiking. Apple announced all kinds of new
- 0:29Speaker 1: products yesterday. We'll go over them. Jimmy Kimmel lashing out.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We'll get to him. We'll get to Crazy Mom Donnie.
- 0:37Speaker 1: The U.S. Open and more. It's Thursday. It's the day
- 0:42Speaker 1: before 9-11. Tomorrow, the ceremonies will take place. And by
- 0:46Speaker 1: the way, you don't want to be driving anywhere around
- 0:50Speaker 1: lower Manhattan. There's going to be a lot of street closures.
- 0:52Speaker 1: In fact, below Canal Street, almost everything will be closed.
- 0:57Speaker 1: They'll be fencing all around the areas where the ceremony
- 1:00Speaker 1: will take place. It's going to be extremely high security.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It looks like J.D. Vance, the vice president, will be there.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Some ex-presidents will be there. George W. Bush, Obama. Who
- 1:19Speaker 1: else will be there? Bill Clinton will be there. Luckily,
- 1:23Speaker 1: not an ex-president, but some crazy woman who always wanted
- 1:26Speaker 1: to be president. Hillary Clinton will be there. She's sometimes
- 1:31Speaker 1: had some bad episodes at those 9-11 ceremonies. Remember the
- 1:34Speaker 1: time she passed out? Just passed out right there, had
- 1:37Speaker 1: to be carried away. But it'll be very high security.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Mayor Mamdani, and also tomorrow night's Rosh Hashanah. So Mamdani... Too.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Many of our neighbors have been the victims of anti-Semitic
- 1:50Speaker 3: hate crimes. And too many are understandably afraid to come
- 1:53Speaker 3: together and celebrate openly. I want to speak directly to
- 1:56Speaker 3: our Jewish New Yorkers now. Your safety during these sacred
- 1:59Speaker 3: days is of the utmost importance to our administration, and
- 2:03Speaker 3: we will work tirelessly to ensure that you can observe
- 2:06Speaker 3: the holiday securely.
- 2:07Speaker 1: All right, that's very bizarre. The biggest anti-Semite of all,
- 2:11Speaker 1: a guy who ginned up these hate crimes, is working
- 2:14Speaker 1: to prevent these hate crimes. It's a little bit of
- 2:17Speaker 1: a catch-22 there, but okay. Now, 9-11 security.
- 2:21Speaker 3: The NYPD and Secret Service will be implementing heightened security measures.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Fencing will be installed to surround the memorial site and
- 2:28Speaker 3: other locations in lower Manhattan. There will be security screening
- 2:31Speaker 3: for anyone invited to the memorial. And please remember that
- 2:34Speaker 3: this event is not open to the general public.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Wow. Police Commissioner Tisch.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Preserving that history also means preserving its moral clarity. The
- 2:44Speaker 4: men who attacked this city were terrorists. The men and
- 2:48Speaker 4: women who ran into the towers to save innocent lives
- 2:52Speaker 4: were heroes. 25 years cannot be allowed to blur that
- 2:57Speaker 4: distinction and shame on those who do.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, so there'll be very, very heavy security and a
- 3:03Speaker 1: traffic nightmare, lower Manhattan. Tomorrow, the ceremony will take place.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Things start about 830 and it's the 25th anniversary. So
- 3:13Speaker 1: it'll be a little bigger than previous years. And that's
- 3:16Speaker 1: why you have all these ex-presidents coming in for this. Now,
- 3:23Speaker 1: The convention last night, whatever it was, I don't know
- 3:26Speaker 1: what it was last night. It was supposed to be
- 3:28Speaker 1: a midterm convention. You got a couple of problems. One,
- 3:32Speaker 1: the political convention in the presidential year, Democratic convention, Republican convention,
- 3:37Speaker 1: used to be a big deal. Three nights on television,
- 3:41Speaker 1: full primetime coverage. Well, there's no such thing as primetime
- 3:44Speaker 1: in television anymore. People don't watch network television like they
- 3:47Speaker 1: used to. And even if you're on in primetime, You're
- 3:51Speaker 1: not getting a lot of viewers. Not a lot of
- 3:52Speaker 1: people are seeing you. You're lucky if you're getting 2
- 3:55Speaker 1: million people. Hannity's getting 3.5 million. So you're getting beaten
- 4:02Speaker 1: by cable news. Now, a few years ago, it was
- 4:08Speaker 1: about 8 years ago, the network stopped covering the conventions
- 4:11Speaker 1: from 8 to midnight, and then it became 10 to 11, maybe,
- 4:16Speaker 1: some nights, and it became just the final night. So
- 4:18Speaker 1: The idea of doing the convention is a little outdated
- 4:22Speaker 1: as far as getting attention, but they did it yesterday.
- 4:25Speaker 1: President Trump came up with this idea for a midterm convention.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I don't know who scheduled it, but somebody needs to
- 4:32Speaker 1: get yelled at. They scheduled it against the NFL opening game.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Not just any game. It was the Super Bowl team's rematch.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It was a big deal. So, uh, it was a
- 4:47Speaker 1: total disaster as far as scheduling. And then the president
- 4:53Speaker 1: made a speech, but, uh, uh, normally if you can
- 4:56Speaker 1: do a convention speech, it's a very tight focused, well-written speech, powerful,
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know, makes a lot of impact. This was rambling.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It was way too long. It was an hour and
- 5:09Speaker 1: 47 minutes. It just went on and on. You can't
- 5:13Speaker 1: do a one-hour, 47-minute speech. You just can't do it.
- 5:17Speaker 1: The convention hall was packed. I know they're going to
- 5:19Speaker 1: try to tell you there were so many empty seats.
- 5:22Speaker 1: If you look at those pictures, they're early in the evening.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It eventually did fill up. But again, the speech was
- 5:28Speaker 1: way too long. The big shock of the night was
- 5:32Speaker 1: a Democrat appeared, John Fetterman. John Fetterman all of a
- 5:36Speaker 1: sudden made an appearance, and that was on video. There
- 5:39Speaker 1: were a number of Republican speakers, and one was going
- 5:41Speaker 1: to be Senator Dave McCormick, the other Pennsylvania senator who's
- 5:45Speaker 1: become a good friend of President Trump's, but to introduce
- 5:48Speaker 1: him instead of somebody coming out to introduce him, a
- 5:51Speaker 1: video started and there was Fetterman, the Democrat. at the
- 5:56Speaker 1: Republican convention.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Yes, I'm Senator John Fetterman, Pennsylvania. Yes, I'm a Democrat.
- 6:02Speaker 5: Why am I here talking to you today? Because, well,
- 6:06Speaker 5: I'm a common sense Democrat.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm always going to stand with America.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I'm always going to reject the extremes and socialism and
- 6:14Speaker 5: that anti-American way of life.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Well, I don't know what the backlash is going to
- 6:19Speaker 1: be from his fellow Democrats. It was quite a surprise.
- 6:22Speaker 5: Dave McCormick is the kind of senator that gets the
- 6:26Speaker 5: job done, and he's going to fight for Pennsylvania. I'm
- 6:30Speaker 5: proud to count him as my friend. Right back over
- 6:34Speaker 5: my shoulder, that's the iconic U.S.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Steel Mill.
- 6:38Speaker 5: And that's exactly the kind of thing that will work
- 6:41Speaker 5: together and will work with President Trump to fight and
- 6:44Speaker 5: defend the steel way of life right here in the
- 6:47Speaker 5: Steel Valley. I have this opportunity to introduce this great American,
- 6:52Speaker 5: a great senator. And yes, he's in a different party,
- 6:56Speaker 5: but I'm proud to count him as my great friend.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a big deal in Pennsylvania, the steel industry
- 7:01Speaker 1: saving it. And these two guys did everything they could
- 7:04Speaker 1: to save it. So President's speech. Listen, there were some
- 7:08Speaker 1: great moments in that speech, some really great moments. But
- 7:11Speaker 1: just moments. It was an hour and 47 minutes. Way
- 7:16Speaker 1: too long.
- 7:17Speaker 6: Who feels Iran should not have a nuclear weapon? You know,
- 7:26Speaker 6: it happens to me all the time. Guys come up.
- 7:29Speaker 6: You know, I wish you didn't do the war in Iran.
- 7:30Speaker 6: Gasoline's up. And I say, well, let me ask you
- 7:34Speaker 6: just smart people. Let me ask you, not too many
- 7:37Speaker 6: of them, by the way. Let me ask you one question.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Can Iran have a nuclear weapon? Absolutely not. Well, then
- 7:44Speaker 6: I'm right that I win. Okay.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Yeah. It's still tricky. Gas is actually spiking right now.
- 7:50Speaker 1: It was up a little with the straight or Hormuz
- 7:52Speaker 1: partially closed, but now it's spiking. It's at, let me
- 7:55Speaker 1: get the latest. It was at 100. You know what?
- 8:00Speaker 1: As we're speaking, it dropped a little. It's 99, but
- 8:03Speaker 1: still close to 100. Brent crude. near 105 that's not
- 8:08Speaker 1: good so average gas prices in America are up 13
- 8:12Speaker 1: cents from last week so there is a bit of
- 8:14Speaker 1: a spike now the president now changing his tune a
- 8:18Speaker 1: little in that he's saying it's not going to come
- 8:22Speaker 1: down until after the midterms he's probably right and he
- 8:26Speaker 1: explains that Iran the only strategy they have is keep
- 8:32Speaker 1: this thing going through the midterms and pray that the
- 8:34Speaker 1: Democrats win Because if the Democrats win, they'll stop the war.
- 8:39Speaker 1: They'll let Iran do whatever the hell they want. And
- 8:41Speaker 1: that's what Iran is holding out for. They're getting killed militarily.
- 8:45Speaker 1: They're getting crushed economically. Why keep going? That's their hope,
- 8:50Speaker 1: that Democrats will win the midterm and go very easy
- 8:54Speaker 1: on them and leave them alone. But the president, again,
- 8:57Speaker 1: long speech, got to the Strait of Hormuz. The Hormuz Strait.
- 9:00Speaker 6: I think we should call the Hormuz Strait home. We
- 9:04Speaker 6: should call it the Trump strike. I should get something
- 9:06Speaker 6: out of it. The Trump strike.
- 9:10Speaker 1: All right. Yeah, listen, to the crowd in the room
- 9:12Speaker 1: it played. I don't know if that plays across America.
- 9:15Speaker 6: No matter how well you're doing, we seem not a president,
- 9:18Speaker 6: Democrat or Republican, almost never wins the midterms. We've got
- 9:23Speaker 6: to change that because we have something going that's so
- 9:26Speaker 6: good we can't let that string be broken. So I'm
- 9:33Speaker 6: asking you to pretend that I'm on the ballot. I'm
- 9:37Speaker 6: on the ballot.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know. The problem is it's a rally speech.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's a campaign speech. It's not exactly what you needed.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Fired up the crowd in the room. I guess the
- 9:50Speaker 1: purpose of that is these are all delegates. These are
- 9:53Speaker 1: the people you need to go back home and work
- 9:56Speaker 1: their ass off getting the vote out. They got to
- 9:58Speaker 1: work the phone banks, knock on doors. on doors. So
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's to fire up the crowd in the room, get
- 10:03Speaker 1: them really hustling for the next couple of months in
- 10:06Speaker 1: the election. As far as getting votes, I don't know
- 10:10Speaker 1: who saw this. It was on Fox News. They weren't
- 10:13Speaker 1: great about carrying it, but you sort of preach into
- 10:17Speaker 1: the choir there. I would assume you already have those voters.
- 10:20Speaker 1: As far as independents seeing it, other voters seeing it,
- 10:24Speaker 1: I don't know where they're going to see it. I
- 10:26Speaker 1: don't know how they're going to see it. So overall,
- 10:30Speaker 1: you've got to say this whole thing was a bit
- 10:32Speaker 1: of a dud. There's a night two tonight. J.D. Vance
- 10:36Speaker 1: will speak tonight, but we'll get back to that. So 9-11,
- 10:42Speaker 1: big ceremonies tomorrow. The EPA files, the environmental files were
- 10:48Speaker 1: released by Mom Donnie. It's getting a little coverage. It's
- 10:52Speaker 1: not getting the blockbuster coverage you'd think it'd get. These
- 10:55Speaker 1: files show that they absolutely knew that the air was poisonous, toxic,
- 11:03Speaker 1: that it was going to hurt people, get them very sick,
- 11:06Speaker 1: maybe kill people, and they covered it up. They covered
- 11:10Speaker 1: it up, and it looks like they just were worried
- 11:13Speaker 1: about liability, that they didn't want to bankrupt the city
- 11:16Speaker 1: with the lawsuit, so they pretended the air was clean.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It looks bad. Mamdani might look like he did a
- 11:22Speaker 1: noble thing, but he did it for all the wrong reasons.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He is trying to just destroy the reputations of the Democrats,
- 11:29Speaker 1: the Republicans, the traditional guys, the Bloombergs, the Patakis, the Giulianis,
- 11:35Speaker 1: all of that. This is to destroy their reputation. But
- 11:37Speaker 1: the report... Very, very damning.
- 11:40Speaker 2: The city was making a fiduciary choice to prioritize the
- 11:43Speaker 2: economic stability of lower Manhattan over the health and safety
- 11:46Speaker 2: of the firefighters, the police officers, the construction workers, and
- 11:50Speaker 2: the children that went back to school down there.
- 11:53Speaker 1: So they just wanted everybody to keep working and covered
- 11:57Speaker 1: it up. So now we'll see how big this story gets.
- 12:02Speaker 1: It's out there. It's getting covered. But just barely, just barely.
- 12:07Speaker 1: So we'll see if it mushrooms into something bigger. Hey,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know, this Hunter Biden, this scamming, scheming, influence peddling
- 12:15Speaker 1: son of the former president, Hunter Biden, his latest scheme
- 12:18Speaker 1: was Bitcoin. Not Bitcoin, but it was a crypto coin.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And he released his crypto yesterday. And if you'll notice
- 12:27Speaker 1: over the last week or two, he's done a million interviews.
- 12:29Speaker 1: He's been going on every show he can get on
- 12:31Speaker 1: promoting this crypto that he was launching yesterday. And he
- 12:35Speaker 1: launched it in lots of people. I don't know who
- 12:38Speaker 1: would be this nuts, but they jumped in and bought
- 12:39Speaker 1: the crypto. Lots of people bought it. And by the
- 12:43Speaker 1: end of the day, they all got wiped out. It
- 12:47Speaker 1: was up to $ 300, and then it went down to
- 12:48Speaker 1: about $ 3. It was down, if you invested big, you
- 12:52Speaker 1: lost 99% on this Hunter crypto. Now, he could have
- 12:57Speaker 1: made a fortune. We don't know. His share, he's given 33%
- 13:02Speaker 1: of the coins today. It's under a lockup. He can't
- 13:06Speaker 1: sell it for six months. But under other names, he
- 13:10Speaker 1: might have jumped in and bought some. They are looking
- 13:13Speaker 1: at certain trades. Somebody jumped in at exactly the right moment,
- 13:18Speaker 1: jumped in with about $ 200, 000, caught the wave, sold it
- 13:23Speaker 1: for a million, and after fees, made about an $ 850, 000
- 13:26Speaker 1: profit in one day. We don't know who that was.
- 13:30Speaker 1: but he could have done something like that. But all
- 13:32Speaker 1: the investors, most of them, almost all of them, got
- 13:35Speaker 1: completely wiped out. So, hey, Apple made the big announcement yesterday,
- 13:41Speaker 1: unveiling all these new products, the new iPhone Pro 18.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Incredible iPhone. It'll be the greatest phone ever. All kinds
- 13:49Speaker 1: of improvements. Huge battery life. They got a battery that
- 13:54Speaker 1: now can go about 35 hours, even watching video, 40 hours. So,
- 14:00Speaker 1: Huge development there. Real serious improvement in the camera, which
- 14:06Speaker 1: was already pretty phenomenal in the current iPhone. So really
- 14:10Speaker 1: improved camera. The big color will be the dark cherry,
- 14:14Speaker 1: the burgundy one. Screen is much better. They've made it
- 14:18Speaker 1: tougher than ever. The glass, the case. In fact, they're
- 14:21Speaker 1: telling you, you don't need to even put a case
- 14:23Speaker 1: on it. It's so strong. Price is up, not as
- 14:26Speaker 1: bad as everybody thought. It's about $ 1, 300 for the Pro Max,
- 14:30Speaker 1: the biggest one. The new Apple Watch, they claim, has
- 14:35Speaker 1: much better health tracking. If you're using your Apple Watch
- 14:37Speaker 1: to track things, it's pretty good with the heart and
- 14:41Speaker 1: the pulse and the blood oxygen. It stinks with the
- 14:44Speaker 1: sleep tracking. It's really off with the sleep tracking. But
- 14:48Speaker 1: the new Apple Watch will have a much better sensor
- 14:50Speaker 1: on it, so hopefully it's going to be more accurate.
- 14:53Speaker 1: The big announcement was this flip phone that you could
- 14:56Speaker 1: open up this folding phone. So the iPhone folds open
- 15:01Speaker 1: into two halves and it's a big screen, but it's
- 15:04Speaker 1: basically when you open it up exactly the same size
- 15:08Speaker 1: as the mini tablet, exactly the same. So you've got
- 15:10Speaker 1: the mini tablet. That's all you need. Uh, most critics
- 15:15Speaker 1: looking at all this that get the new iPhone pro
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's incredible. you might want to avoid the folding phone.
- 15:23Speaker 1: It's really not that useful. Critics that have used it
- 15:25Speaker 1: for a couple of weeks said you'll really get tired
- 15:29Speaker 1: of it after a while. It's gimmicky. It's novel. It's great. Again,
- 15:33Speaker 1: if you want to watch movies, if you want to
- 15:34Speaker 1: watch video, just get the mini, the tablet, the mini.
- 15:39Speaker 1: It's exactly the same thing. The other problem with that
- 15:42Speaker 1: foldable phone, the inner workings of it, the battery is
- 15:45Speaker 1: split into two halves, one on each side, makes it
- 15:48Speaker 1: a little less stable. It's thinner. It doesn't have the
- 15:53Speaker 1: battery life, but the iPhone Pro 18, that's the one
- 15:57Speaker 1: you want to get. It's phenomenal. Hey, Benjamin Netanyahu suing
- 16:02Speaker 1: an Israeli newspaper. You know, remember that story came out
- 16:05Speaker 1: that he was warned about the October 7th attacks. He
- 16:08Speaker 1: knew about it ahead of time. He did nothing well.
- 16:11Speaker 1: We got fake news here. They got fake news over there,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and the fake news hates Netanyahu. They have Netanyahu derangement syndrome,
- 16:18Speaker 1: and the left wing over there. And this is a
- 16:20Speaker 1: left wing newspaper, the Prince. So he's suing them. He's
- 16:24Speaker 1: filed a libel lawsuit against this left wing newspaper going
- 16:28Speaker 1: after him. It's kind of what you have to do
- 16:31Speaker 1: now since we went into this fake news era when
- 16:34Speaker 1: Trump came along 10 years ago and it didn't stop
- 16:37Speaker 1: 11 years ago and it kept going. They just feel
- 16:40Speaker 1: free to run all kinds of fake news. New York
- 16:42Speaker 1: Times gets caught all the time. ABC, NBC, they get
- 16:45Speaker 1: caught with fake, fake stuff. So what can you do
- 16:49Speaker 1: about it? You can have the FCC try to go
- 16:51Speaker 1: after him. We'll get to that a little later. But
- 16:53Speaker 1: Trump has been suing. He collected $ 15 million from ABC.
- 16:57Speaker 1: He got like $ 20 million from CBS. He's going after
- 17:00Speaker 1: NBC now. All he can do is keep suing them
- 17:03Speaker 1: and taking money from them just so they realize it's
- 17:06Speaker 1: a dangerous business model for them. That's the only thing
- 17:08Speaker 1: that's probably going to stop him. Anyway, we've got a
- 17:10Speaker 1: lot to get to. We'll get to Jimmy Kimmel and
- 17:13Speaker 1: his angry ranting. We'll get to the U.S. Open and more.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Coming up, Mark Simone here, 9 to noon. It's three
- 17:21Speaker 1: hours every day, 9 to noon every day, here on 710WOR.
