- 0:00Speaker 1: When the future feels uncertain, trust the God who provides.
- 0:04Speaker 1: This is your 10-minute Christian motivation, October 3rd, 2026. Today,
- 0:10Speaker 1: I want to talk to the person who is worried
- 0:12Speaker 1: about tomorrow. Not 10 years from now. Not some distant future. Tomorrow.
- 0:18Speaker 1: The next paycheck. The next mortgage payment. The next grocery bill.
- 0:23Speaker 1: The next doctor's appointment. The next decision at work. Maybe
- 0:27Speaker 1: you're wondering whether your job is secure. Maybe your business
- 0:30Speaker 1: has slowed down. Maybe you're looking at prices and wondering
- 0:33Speaker 1: how much further your dollar can stretch. And if you've
- 0:36Speaker 1: been watching the economic news today, there are reasons people
- 0:39Speaker 1: are uneasy. Today's jobs report showed hiring slowing sharply. Borrowing
- 0:44Speaker 1: costs remain high. Energy prices are elevated. And once again,
- 0:49Speaker 1: millions of people are asking the same question. What happens next?
- 0:53Speaker 1: But today I want to remind you of something the
- 0:55Speaker 1: financial reports cannot measure. Something Wall Street cannot calculate. Something
- 1:00Speaker 1: economists cannot put into a spreadsheet. God is still your God,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and your future was never held together by numbers alone.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Jesus talked about this. Matthew chapter 6 contains some of
- 1:12Speaker 1: the most important words Jesus ever spoke about worry. Jesus said,
- 1:16Speaker 1: Then Jesus points his disciples toward the birds. Think about this.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Jesus could have given them a complicated theological lecture. Instead,
- 1:31Speaker 1: he basically says, look at the birds. They don't plant crops.
- 1:34Speaker 1: They don't harvest fields. They don't have barns filled with grain.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Then Jesus asks, are
- 1:42Speaker 1: ye not much better than they? Jesus wasn't telling people,
- 1:46Speaker 1: don't work, don't plan, don't save, don't prepare. Scripture repeatedly
- 1:50Speaker 1: teaches diligence, responsibility, and wisdom. Jesus was attacking something different, worry.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Because preparation deals with what you can control. Worry tries
- 2:00Speaker 1: to control what you cannot. And somebody listening today has
- 2:03Speaker 1: been mentally living through disasters that haven't even happened. You're
- 2:07Speaker 1: already experiencing next month's problem. You're already imagining losing something
- 2:11Speaker 1: you still have. You're already suffering from a conversation that
- 2:15Speaker 1: hasn't taken place. You're already afraid of a future that
- 2:18Speaker 1: hasn't arrived. And Jesus says, come back to today. Today
- 2:23Speaker 1: has enough. Listen to Matthew 6.34. Take therefore no thought
- 2:28Speaker 1: for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for
- 2:31Speaker 1: the things of itself. In other words, tomorrow will arrive
- 2:35Speaker 1: soon enough. God hasn't asked you to live tomorrow today.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He's asking you to be faithful today. That's important. Because
- 2:43Speaker 1: anxiety tries to drag you into the future. Faith brings
- 2:46Speaker 1: you back into the presence of God. Anxiety says, but
- 2:50Speaker 1: what if? Faith says, even if. What if I lose
- 2:54Speaker 1: the job? Even if I will trust God. What if
- 2:57Speaker 1: the economy gets worse? Even if, I will trust God.
- 3:02Speaker 1: What if my plans don't work? Even if, I will
- 3:05Speaker 1: trust God. What if the door closes? Even if, I
- 3:09Speaker 1: will trust God. That doesn't mean the situation won't hurt.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It doesn't mean Christians never experience unemployment. It doesn't mean
- 3:16Speaker 1: faithful people never struggle financially. The Bible never promises Christians
- 3:21Speaker 1: a life without hardship. But scripture repeatedly promises something greater.
- 3:25Speaker 1: God will not abandon his people in hardship. There is
- 3:29Speaker 1: an incredible story in 1 Kings chapter 17. There was
- 3:33Speaker 1: a famine in the land. Not a bad week, not
- 3:36Speaker 1: a rough month, a famine. Food was scarce. Water was scarce.
- 3:40Speaker 1: People were desperate. God tells the prophet Elijah to go
- 3:44Speaker 1: to Zarephath. When Elijah arrives, he sees a widow gathering sticks,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and he asks her for something to eat. Her answer
- 3:51Speaker 1: is heartbreaking. She basically tells Elijah, I have a little flour.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I have a little oil. I'm preparing one final meal
- 3:59Speaker 1: for myself and my son. Then we're going to die.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Imagine reaching that point. There is no savings account, no
- 4:06Speaker 1: backup plan, no emergency fund, no food pantry, no government program.
- 4:12Speaker 1: She believes she has reached the end. But Elijah tells her,
- 4:16Speaker 1: fear not. Those two words appear again and again throughout scripture.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Fear not. Not because the famine isn't real. It is.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Not because the flour container is secretly full. It isn't.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Not because Elijah is pretending everything is fine. It isn't.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Fear not, because God has spoken. Elijah tells her that
- 4:35Speaker 1: the barrel of meal will not waste, and the oil
- 4:37Speaker 1: will not fail until rain returns. And that's exactly what happens.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Notice something. God did not necessarily give her a warehouse
- 4:46Speaker 1: full of food. He gave her enough. Again. And again.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And again. Every day she went back, there was provision.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That teaches us something about God. Sometimes we want God
- 4:57Speaker 1: to show us provision for the next five years. And
- 5:00Speaker 1: God says, trust me for today. We want the entire answer.
- 5:04Speaker 1: God gives us today's bread. We want the complete map.
- 5:08Speaker 1: God gives us the next step. We want certainty. God
- 5:11Speaker 1: asks for faith. Give us this day our daily bread.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Remember how Jesus taught us to pray? He didn't say,
- 5:18Speaker 1: give us this year our annual bread. He said, give
- 5:21Speaker 1: us this day our daily bread. daily. There's something deeply
- 5:25Speaker 1: spiritual about dependence. We don't like dependence. We like control.
- 5:30Speaker 1: We like enough money in the bank that we don't
- 5:32Speaker 1: have to worry. We like knowing exactly what's going to happen.
- 5:35Speaker 1: We like guarantees. But there are seasons when God allows
- 5:39Speaker 1: us to discover that the things we thought gave us
- 5:41Speaker 1: security were never actually God. The paycheck isn't God. The
- 5:45Speaker 1: company isn't God. The stock market isn't God. The government
- 5:49Speaker 1: isn't God. The economy isn't God. Your retirement account isn't
- 5:54Speaker 1: Those things can be useful. They can be blessings. They
- 5:57Speaker 1: should be handled wisely. But they make terrible gods. Because
- 6:01Speaker 1: every one of them can change. God does not. Hebrews 13.8 says,
- 6:06Speaker 1: Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever. Markets change.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Jobs change. Prices change. Presidents change. Companies change. Your circumstances change.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Jesus Christ does not. Maybe the door is closed. Somebody
- 6:22Speaker 1: listening to me right now has lost something. A job,
- 6:25Speaker 1: a relationship, a business opportunity, a dream. And you keep
- 6:29Speaker 1: staring at that closed door. You keep asking, God, why
- 6:33Speaker 1: didn't you save it? God, why didn't you fix it? God,
- 6:36Speaker 1: why didn't you make this work? But here's something I've
- 6:39Speaker 1: learned from Scripture. A closed door isn't always punishment. Sometimes
- 6:43Speaker 1: it's protection. Sometimes it's redirection. Joseph probably didn't understand the pit.
- 6:49Speaker 1: He didn't understand slavery. He didn't understand prison. But every
- 6:53Speaker 1: place that appeared to be moving Joseph farther away from
- 6:56Speaker 1: God's promise was actually moving him closer to God's purpose.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The pit wasn't the destination. The prison wasn't the destination.
- 7:04Speaker 1: The palace was coming. But Joseph couldn't see the palace
- 7:07Speaker 1: from the prison. Maybe you can't see what God is
- 7:10Speaker 1: doing from where you're standing either. That's why it's called faith.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Don't confuse delay with abandonment. We make this mistake constantly.
- 7:19Speaker 1: God doesn't answer when we expected him to, so we
- 7:22Speaker 1: think he isn't answering. The opportunity doesn't arrive when we expected,
- 7:26Speaker 1: so we think God forgot us. The healing takes longer.
- 7:30Speaker 1: The restoration takes longer. The financial breakthrough takes longer. The
- 7:34Speaker 1: reconciliation takes longer. The answer takes longer. And eventually we whisper, God,
- 7:40Speaker 1: where are you? But throughout scripture, God often appears to
- 7:44Speaker 1: be late. Abraham waited. Joseph waited. Moses waited. David waited.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Israel waited. Paul waited. And every generation of believers has
- 7:54Speaker 1: discovered God's delay is not God's absence. You may be waiting,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but you're not abandoned. What do I do tomorrow? So
- 8:03Speaker 1: let's make this practical. If you're worried about your finances,
- 8:06Speaker 1: make the budget. If you need employment, send the application.
- 8:10Speaker 1: If you've been wasting money, change the behavior. If you're
- 8:14Speaker 1: drowning in debt, begin confronting it. If you need advice,
- 8:18Speaker 1: ask for wisdom. If you're physically capable of working, work diligently.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Faith isn't inactivity. Faith doesn't sit on the couch and say,
- 8:26Speaker 1: God will provide. Faith says, I'm going to do everything
- 8:30Speaker 1: God has placed within my responsibility and trust him with
- 8:33Speaker 1: everything outside my control. That's biblical faith. Do the possible.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Trust God with the impossible. Here is today's challenge. Tonight,
- 8:43Speaker 1: get a piece of paper. Draw a line down the center.
- 8:46Speaker 1: On one side, write what I can control. On the
- 8:49Speaker 1: other side, write what I cannot control. Under what you
- 8:52Speaker 1: can control, you might write my attitude, my spending, my
- 8:57Speaker 1: work ethic, my prayer life, my decisions, how I treat
- 9:00Speaker 1: my family, whether I forgive, whether I obey God, whether
- 9:04Speaker 1: I open my Bible tomorrow. Then look at the other side.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Interest rates, the economy, what somebody else thinks, the stock market,
- 9:12Speaker 1: the actions of other people, tomorrow's news, next year's circumstances. Say, Father,
- 9:20Speaker 1: I give these things to you. And then stop trying
- 9:23Speaker 1: to do God's job. Do yours. Let Him do His.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Tomorrow morning, before you check the news, pray. Before you
- 9:30Speaker 1: check your bank account, pray. Before social media speaks, let
- 9:34Speaker 1: Scripture speak. Read Matthew 6, 25-34. Then say, Father, give
- 9:40Speaker 1: me this day my daily bread. Not just financial bread.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Give me today's strength, today's wisdom, today's courage. today's patience,
- 9:49Speaker 1: today's self-control, today's opportunity, today's forgiveness, today's grace. Give me
- 9:55Speaker 1: what I need for today, and tomorrow we'll meet God
- 9:58Speaker 1: there too. Maybe everything isn't going the way you hoped
- 10:01Speaker 1: right now, but that doesn't mean God has stopped working.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Maybe you don't know where the next opportunity will come from.
- 10:08Speaker 1: God does. Maybe you don't know how the problem will
- 10:10Speaker 1: be solved. God does. Maybe you can't see next month.
- 10:14Speaker 1: God can. And maybe tonight God isn't asking you to
- 10:17Speaker 1: understand the future. Maybe he's simply asking, will you trust me?
- 10:22Speaker 1: Proverbs 3 says, trust in the Lord with all thine
- 10:25Speaker 1: heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, not some
- 10:29Speaker 1: of your heart, all your heart. So tonight, give him
- 10:32Speaker 1: your fear, give him your finances, give him your family,
- 10:36Speaker 1: give him your business, give him your future. Then wake
- 10:39Speaker 1: up tomorrow and do the work God has placed in
- 10:41Speaker 1: front of you. One prayer, one decision, one act of obedience,
- 10:46Speaker 1: one day at a time. Because your security has never
- 10:49Speaker 1: ultimately been found in an economy. Your hope has never
- 10:52Speaker 1: ultimately been found in a paycheck. And your future has
- 10:55Speaker 1: never ultimately been determined by a headline. Your hope is
- 10:59Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. So when tomorrow feels uncertain, remember who will
- 11:03Speaker 1: already be there when you arrive. God. Keep the faith.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep working. And keep your eyes
- 11:10Speaker 1: on Jesus. Because whatever tomorrow brings, God will still be God.
- 11:15Speaker 1: This is Gil. Remember, Christ over everything.
