- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: a 47-D season and a season of life in the other and naturely baseball history from one of the Cognitive Junior.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_02]: There's a drive right on the panel.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: Evan Carter, what a fun season he is having.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: He hits this one hard, he hits the line of the left.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: My truck, that's right to go wrong.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, guys?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: My truck, and listen to Sports Park CEO, it's current Buffer and Hand.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, sir, we are going to rock and roll today feels fresh like I feel like we're in our stride now, right?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: We've been doing the pot for a little over a year feeling confident, you know, feeling like uh, have plenty of experiences to bring to the table.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: And so today we're going to talk a little bit about this crazy market that we're in.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: The card market, vestments, e-spall, general, just the boys talking over some stuff, but I think it's going to be really, really good.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: So in our regular fashion, we're going to kick off kind of a weak round table.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Bubba, you have been burning the candle at both ends.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I know, so Philistine, what's been going on in Bubba's world?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's been going on as 13 games last weekend, all 30 boys plates, nine year old son, 11 year old son, 12 year old son, 13 games from the time Saturday morning rolled around.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_04]: The schedulers hate the Wilson family.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_04]: If it's Saturday morning, start times of 8 a.m., you got to be to the game an hour ahead of time to hit BP and those games are about an hour and a half away.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, who also hates the Wilson family?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: Who's that?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: the pitchers the opposing pitchers.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, we'll get to that.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_04]: I think they might right now as well.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, we're running on E. We are sponsored today by Eric String.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_04]: We're sponsored by Starbucks today are actually Eric is sponsored by Starbucks today.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_04]: He's drinking a Starbucks Vente, coconut espresso, I think.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_04]: And I could use one of those after this weekend because it is like one of those deals where you need the whole next day.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_04]: of Monday to kind of get yourself back to feeling like 90% and that's where I'm at today.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_04]: And up Tuesday morning, I'm ready to go up a man yesterday because Monday's a brutal anyway.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, just beat down from the weekend, 13 games, but I do want to hit on what current said I share with both the boys last weekend.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_04]: It was a super proud proud dad moment.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_04]: My, uh,
- 2:46[SPEAKER_04]: 12-year-old son, I mentioned on the show previously and that's the coolest part of today's message for me is had been in a little bit of a mental struggle to start the season, you know, and had started to have some self-doubt creep in a little bit.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_04]: He plays it a really high level for his age, like the top level you can play in the country, his age, and they're playing this weekend at the 12
- 3:09[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, the best teams all across the country in this tournament, including the number one team in the nation, which let's a whole other conversation about what that team looked like.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_04]: But he was in his second game of the morning and came up and I had told them him and one of his buddies on Friday night, I said, guys, I'm not going to give you this deal unless this is what you do.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking for a first pitch fastball.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_04]: Not a curve ball, not a ball.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking for a first pitch fastball home run.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_04]: If you hit one, it's 200 bucks.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_04]: Well, his buddy Henry comes up first game, first it bat, first pitch fastball.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, okay, his buddy, that is talking to his jack sitting over there going on man, Henry just had a bomb.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_04]: And what am I going to do?
- 3:49[SPEAKER_04]: Jack comes up, first it bat, first pitch fastball.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, dead center over over home play.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like all right, sweet.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_04]: They both got their home runs and we always we have 200 bucks It comes up next it back.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, who's one to laugh first pitch.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_04]: So a really cool moment Two home runs to kind of start a game which is amazing to see your son do that.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_04]: I leave his game I drive an hour back to my next son's game.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_04]: I sit my 11 year old son who just turned 11 and I tell him hey, you're rather just hit two home runs
- 4:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, yeah, what's going on here?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_04]: There's bombs everywhere.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_04]: So, uh, it was a cool weekend, not to leave out my nine-use son.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I coach that team.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_04]: We won the championship, uh, 15 to two on Sunday, 15 to two score.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_04]: And so,
- 4:39[SPEAKER_04]: just a lot of fun.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_04]: It's it's it's time and memories that I'll never forget.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's been with my my kids.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_04]: It's exhausting.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_04]: But to be able to see them go out there.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_04]: And and that's really anybody that listens to this show.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's what I love about baseball.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_04]: And anybody that that had these guys and I appreciate this more than ever how hard this game is.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: How hard the game of baseball is, how much appreciation I have for these guys that are doing this at a high level, it is so hard to do.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_04]: And to share this is a little dig at the mats, I hear in a shout out to the braves.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_04]: It's such a mental game and momentum game.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_04]: Braize last year start off like a win-10 and now you see the Met's kind of going a little bit of what we went through is the Braize last year It gets to be contagious that these guys get in their heads in even at the major league level and So that's that's just a the comment of the day you can take that from baseball to life Your mindset is everything in this thing and sometimes you got to step out and you look at the fillies now And that same kind of slide in the NLE Eastern listen Gary so Gary it's the Met the Met's just suck
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what it is.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: They're not in their own hands.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: They just suck.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: This is true.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: They can't hear it.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: They got a good pitching star.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: They just can't hear it.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: They can't hear it.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's awesome to see the boys do well.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I think whether something special when you do see, you know, your kids do well.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what's amazing is like, listen, I mean, some of my wife played college basketball right and I did not play in college, but was capable of playing.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: I just hung it up and we played a high level.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: We had to let our kids leave our kids to the game.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was a couple of years ago because there was so much intensity, right?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, no, just go and do whatever you do.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: But when they,
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: when you leave them to the game and they make the decision that they want to put the work in and they make the decision that that's a special moment and so that's also me here to boys doing well.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah man they're doing well and kind of wrap up I am going to share this when this is done because this has been one of the biggest projects that's also been bogging me down a bit building this field at my house the CEO feels we're going to call it here when this thing is done
- 6:40[SPEAKER_04]: I can't wait to unveil it.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_04]: It's it's been quite the process getting a turf field in so I want to share this with y'all when it's done It's gonna be a really cool project, but on Gary if you know really bad, I really feel really bad for him And really stress building space quality on your back yard
- 6:55[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it is stressful when you're building this field and you're like I think I'm going to build this little field It my cost a little bit of money and then you get out there and guys guy came in and gave me a quote That builds fields locally.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_04]: He came in.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_04]: I was like hey man I'm going to buy a material.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_04]: I just need to come put this this grass down for my infield Okay, he's a gas shirt man.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: I come look at it.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_04]: He comes look at it $140,000 quote to come out and install carpet on an end field.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like what?
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: 140,000, I'm like, how long is this going to take you a year?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no, we'll be done in like three or four days.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_04]: What the hell?
- 7:29[SPEAKER_04]: You're daily.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's like 50 grand a day, but we're in the wrong business.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, apparently.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: It current.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I won't bother to put a little $200 little nugget charge out to you in today.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: What kind of instruction do you have for me?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see how
- 7:43[SPEAKER_04]: You boys in a home run episode.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: I give you $200 each.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_04]: If you don't next episode, you each owe me 200 push-ups live on the episode shirtless That would be entertaining.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: That would be terrible.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so so all good to hear.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'd say what man Amhouse has been the the word for the hamhouse is reset.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: We have been in a massive season of reset here lately
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know, for me, it started personally after Brandon Steinner attacked me on my gal, that was a great little starter for me, but I did.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: I had to hit reset on a lot of things in life and we had some transition at our office at early oak.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: We've got
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: a new hire starting next Monday replacing one of our key employees who's been there for two years and I've got two new salespeople starting May 4th just a lot of reset.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then with the card thing, you know, I looked at it today after this week, we will own less than 10 sports cards.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say that, I've got a stack of paper right here, you know, I'm not talking about that.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about like slabs.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got less than 10 slabs pretty much in inventory.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: And the game plan has been to sell into this market, which we're going to talk about the market and how crazy it is, but that's been the game plan to sell them to the market.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, though, I don't quite have a picture of what's next.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of the, I'm in this moment right now where it's like things have been really good, we're hitting reset, but it's like I don't know which way the ship has headed, you know, and there's one of my favorite quotes of all time, it was like a philosophical guy said no fair wind blows for the ship without port.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: and meaning that if you don't know where your headed, you cannot take advantage of a fair win.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm really wanting to kind of point this ship in a right direction over the next 30 days and kind of feel charged by that.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're wrapping up baseball season for Matthew.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: The boys that do still have some travel basketball stuff, but you know, it's, uh,
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, it's just, it's a moment in time and I know it's just a moment, but I don't really have a lot of direction.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm just kind of sitting, being still, being patient and, uh, waiting on that, uh, you know, waiting on that moment.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we are, currency.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, I kind of feel the same as you, Matt, but, you know, minus the, you know, the baseball older kid baseball thing.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm kind of just, I'm in my groove at work now and, you know, I'm
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: They don't much.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm selling into the market like you said like where I can where it makes sense, right?
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Capitalized, but you know, it's kind of it's kind of stagnant right now.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's kind of like a very in-between At least from a moment standpoint, you know, I don't think
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think draft was that great of a product as far as prospects and I have some great players in there but it doesn't it's not like a 24 draft kind of feel but a lot of those guys come out later you know they they blossom later you know like Connor didn't blossom until a little bit later you know Carson vanished didn't come to fruition until later so um
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of an in between phase twenty five moment.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's going to be fantastic and then twenty six moment drafts the nominal one of the best products.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: What's the twenty five draft kind of target date release date twenty five draft or do you came out?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm sorry.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Twenty.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Twenty six moment.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's May went their tenth somewhere around there like in a month.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's pretty soon.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think yeah.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I don't know it's kind of like in this dead phase, which we'll get into more, but yeah from a personal standpoint I'm just I'm hanging that I'm getting in the group of work and get my flow I'm spending a ton of time with the kids in my wife and I'm looking forward to summer I guy really am.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so strange last week.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: It was 82 degrees here
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: And we're out shorts and a t-shirt on a central park and today it's 35 degrees.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't make any sense.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm looking forward to summer.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start calling you Olaf.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have that little frozen song summer.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's current.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to build a snowman.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know it.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know it.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: We all have a little film on.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: We know it.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_04]: I can not wait to wait to do an episode this year at your summer beach house.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_04]: The whole crew invited out of your house.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_04]: Do it a little sleepover little sleepover by the pool.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: By the pool.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_01]: Excited.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll do the episode shirtless.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will see you.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: I will say this talk about this about the field and about New York and all this stuff boys if we don't do this I'm gonna be pissed.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna be mad.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: We all need uh who is the harrier CEO, ham.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_03]: There he is.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: I probably don't mean.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'll go in my ham.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going ham.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going ham.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going ham.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's got a little back here.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_03]: Nah.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_03]: I've got hardly any chest air boys.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's a real
- 12:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'll leave anyway.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we're actually here.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we're a hairless crew here.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_03]: Who know that is it?
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's really have any leg hair.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's the question I could see current asking.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't current always ask.
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: How much back here do you have?
- 12:44[SPEAKER_04]: Dude, my uncle though, my dad's got to lighten out the area of my uncle.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_04]: Looks like a Willie mammoth dude.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: He thinks it's short enough.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_04]: It's like it's it's hollow in the back.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's like sticking out four inches.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's like what's on your back?
- 12:56[SPEAKER_04]: You got to get a hair on his shoulder blade.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, people ask him, are you quasi-moto?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_04]: like, let's back here, bro.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: A team will, man.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Team will.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right, boys.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, always good to laugh.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: It feels good to cut up a little bit.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: We want to dive in today into this crazy sports card market that we are in.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's one of the things I think this kind of is challenging right now.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: I want to I want to share a quick statistic right and we talked about this pre show so I can't ask you guys the question but if you go to card ladder which a lot of people ask us you know what resources do you use and card ladder is one that we all three you know really do utilize It's a great job to cross reference sales, but they have these indexes where it indexes kind of the general move of the market and one of their indexes is called the Bowman 100
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: So the way that this talks about the market is a hundred of the most frequently graded Bowman Chrome prospect autographs in a PSA 10.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: So it's pulling data of these Bowman things.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_00]: Now we talked about this earlier.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: Over the past two weeks, the Bowman 100 is down four and a half percent.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: Over the last month, the Bowman 100 is down two percent.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: But if you go back to three months, which is about the start of the year, it's up 12%.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: So you saw the rise of the market into debut, opening day blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: We've all talked about this.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: And now we've kind of got the fall off, right?
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: And so in this low, let's talk about the market and kind of how it creates potential lack of opportunity and how to find opportunity even in a market that's a little bit soft.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: Well, and I think I just want to kind of clarify this.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: I'm pretty sure what the Bowman 100 means is like the top 100 Bowman prospects somewhere to that what you would see like a baseball America top 100 it's almost like the top 100 cards they compiled and Bowman so that would make some sense right like I think that's how I think it's different I read it differently I read it as like how did it how did it read
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: It reads her and it has a great, the most great, it's rated, top one, of course, great, it has a minimum Chrome prospect autographs.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like so is that the above schemes card, it could be a Yamamoto card, but it's the top 100 graded.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: So like, you know, you've got to feel like if you
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Connor Griffin's getting graded most frequently he's definitely going to be in there, you know, versus, you know, John Gil, you know, like John Gil's probably not going to be in there because he's not, you know, so it's taking the top 100 most graded Bowman prospect autograph cards and it's indexing those.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think I think I think her you nailed it earlier in my opinion when you use the word stagnant.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_04]: I had that written on my page here.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think when one of the three of us on the show feels stagnant, then you could say, okay, well, maybe that guy's just going to kind of a little bit of burnout, right?
- 15:53[SPEAKER_04]: When a second guy does it, maybe it, but when there's three of us saying that it's stagnant, then you know that it truly is.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_04]: And because we all have a really good pulse on this market.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_04]: And I think we start this story boys is we talk about this all the time.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: And the title of this episode is really like, how do we navigate, how to navigate this stagnant period, right?
- 16:15[SPEAKER_04]: And we've all been deciding like, what's next?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_04]: Who's next?
- 16:18[SPEAKER_04]: What's next?
- 16:19[SPEAKER_04]: You look at 2024, and you go back in time and say, what did Bowman look like in 2024?
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: It was a pump and dump, right?
- 16:27[SPEAKER_04]: You were gonna see prices go down in the winter.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_04]: You were gonna see prices go up in the spring, and it opening day everybody wanted to be at a Bowman, right?
- 16:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's been the classic,
- 16:39[SPEAKER_04]: Well, last year, we saw this continuous rise of Bowman that really never stopped.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_04]: If you all recall, I mean, it was like, no, season came up there goes higher, it goes higher, it goes higher and then this year, it had a weird, it was more just kind of steady.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_04]: It never really had like huge spikes because it was just this continuous kind of rise.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_04]: of KG of Magamigo, a weatherhole, the three that were kind of leading that market.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_04]: And then all of a sudden, two of the three are starting opening day on a roster.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got the third one coming up obviously quickly right after who got that initial bump of excitement of getting the call.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_04]: But what is crazy to me, and we talked about this is, and it makes complete sense.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: I think it tells you how smart the Bowman market is.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_04]: They're sitting there going, okay.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_04]: Conner Griffin, oranges that are worth, let's just call it $30,000 right now, $35,000.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_04]: We've got Kevin McGonagoul, PSA 10 oranges worth, let's call it 15 to 18,000 right now.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, let's just call that the range.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_04]: And you've got JJ weatherholder oranges worth 12 to 15.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's where your market's going.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's a lot of money, okay.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_04]: And it's a lot of money for their cards in general.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_04]: What's going to take that brand?
- 17:57[SPEAKER_04]: to the next level this player.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_04]: What is that exciting moment that is going to do something for them?
- 18:02[SPEAKER_04]: Well, bottom line is KG has done had some moments to shine, but he hasn't hit his first home run yet, right?
- 18:09[SPEAKER_04]: That isn't even gotten people extra to that excitement or that fever pitch yet.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_04]: You look at McGonagall, he's hit one home run.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_04]: He's hitting throw over 300, but what we talked about,
- 18:19[SPEAKER_04]: And he's not hitting the long ball.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_04]: He's in the box where every night going to for five, but it's not getting people other than Tiger fans really excited.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_04]: And then you look at Weatherhold, who's hit maybe I think three home runs had to a two home run game, had a two home run game in the market, actually like it didn't even happen.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's, it's people just I think sitting back in looking and saying, are these guys going to be superstars?
- 18:41[SPEAKER_04]: And then you look at guys like Roman Anthony, who was everybody's lover boy.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_04]: coming into this season and have you seen what's happened into his prices.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Gary, I don't, you know, it will, I mean, his reds up to a million bucks already, right?
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: Give me his red freaking break.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_04]: His reds is Roman.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_04]: It's reds a million and his blues to that.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, that's.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_04]: It just shows you though, in my opinion, how smart people have gotten in this space, and I think it's where we need to navigate today, just openly about where we even all go from here in the next couple months.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, we've got the new release.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_04]: That's going to spur energy, right?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what I think we need.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_04]: That's what's great about moments having new releases that's person energy.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_04]: But I think it's also going like, look at your walker.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_04]: It is the same market it always has been.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's what have you done for me lately.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_04]: If Connor Griffin goes on a binge, everybody's going to go, oh, yep, it's official.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's what we thought.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: So like on the on the other end of the spectrum from of that standpoint, like trout, a little bit hell of a series of Yankee stadium is market went up.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's already established, but it's what if you're done for me lately, everybody's all of a sudden remembering, oh, this guy's a go, you know, like this guy is the real deal.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: He's a whole family.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's what
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, rookies and it goes with bets, 100%.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: people was talking about buying a house at rights will be, right?
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: And you could have bought a house at rights will be for like $400,000, right?
- 20:35[SPEAKER_00]: And this is 30 years ago, probably.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, probably even 20 years ago, you could buy a house at rights will be for $400,500.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: And at the time of all, like, oh my gosh, you know, that was expensive, you know, according to the market or whatever, well now you can't get on the beach for under two million.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: like a tear down is 2 million, right?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you didn't buy it 400, you sure as heck aren't buying it 2 million.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_00]: But the question is, is like how much higher can the values go?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: And real state is different than cards certainly, but when you're talking about assets and kind of like that idea of like buyer's hesitation, that's what's dynamic for me right now because now we're looking at some of these Jordan inserts and it's like, why would I buy that card at 13k?
- 21:17[SPEAKER_00]: when I literally could have bought it at $7,000 a year ago.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's really hard to see and find value in cards when you've seen so much of a rise.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Looking at these numbers here, they have an index on card ladder, and they call it the SX100, which is basically like a hundred cards that give you a cross section.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: One year, over one year, that indexes up 86%.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: 86% and then the card ladder five, excuse me, the card ladder 50, which are 50 hand selected cards that best represent the card market over one year is up 51%.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then you get into the high end market, right?
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: These are cards over $5,000.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: The high end market is up 63% over the last year.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: So if you kind of take these numbers, you're looking at 60%, you're looking at 50%, you're looking at 80%.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: If when you see that kind of increase in the card market, what does that scare you guys?
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: Is that just going, oh yeah, that's just the money coming in.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: Is there another 80% on the back end of this thing?
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: embedded in this hobby and I'm sitting here going like I'm a little nervous with 80% over a year.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: What kind of asset can sustain 80% growth year every year current.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'll let you blow.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'll touch on it.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_04]: It makes me and I'll say it scares me, but it makes me have my eyes open on what's going on.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_04]: and it and it and I think that in any market that's that way and I think goes back to the same thing my money manager always says at Merrill Lynch like you've got to be careful thinking you're the smartest guy in the room sometimes on predicting markets because you never really know what's going to happen.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_04]: And so he said some of the biggest days up are the ones that follow the biggest days down.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that the smart move is like we've been talking about the whole time is making sure your allocation, you have conviction on it, dumping the stuff that you don't in repositioning yourself.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's where I'm at 100% is going how do I continue to reposition myself to be in the position to pounce where I want to pounce.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_04]: And I know we've talked a lot about this so far, but that's where I'm at.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: I've been thinking about this for months, where I
- 23:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sitting right now where I'm looking to pounce is minor leagueers that I think are going to be the next minor leagueers.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know who that is yet though.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_04]: I look at the bot scores every night, current.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_04]: I know you're looking at bot scores.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking at what guys are doing and there's been some guys of start and I have on my watch list that are intriguing me, but I think we're the value lies right now.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_04]: And I this is where I'm going to put it right now.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_04]: And people can roast me later from wrong, but I don't think I am.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_04]: pictures.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: I think that the picture market right now and finding these guys has so much upside on some of these guys that are not of that big touted guys, but the guys that are right there in the middle.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_04]: The guys that maybe not are tier one prospects, but are that tier two prospect that has filthy stuff.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'll give you an example, a guy like a Travis Secura is extremely undervalued to me for the type of player that he could be.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: for that team.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_04]: If he comes up and he balls out, he's going to explode.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_04]: You're going to guy like JR Richie for the brace.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_04]: It's got a 0.99 ERA in Triple A, kids ready for a call.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_04]: When he gets it, it's his blue still going to sell for $300.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: No, exactly.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_04]: His blue sells for $300.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_04]: And so that's where
- 24:39[SPEAKER_04]: That's where I believe I think I'm looking right now as pictures in this kind of time of stagnation and then saying who is the next hitter coming up?
- 24:46[SPEAKER_04]: Because honestly, I don't know.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_04]: I'm looking at that board and going, yeah, we know Luis Spain is a dog.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we know Haisu's modays a dog.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we think Cole Emerson's going to be pretty good.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think Aiden Miller's going to be really good, but he hasn't played a single game yet.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_04]: And you look at George Lombard, who's balling out.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, we think George Lombard's pretty good.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_04]: But their prices are already reflecting that.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's like looking at these next wave and going, who is that going to be?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know yet.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_04]: I wish I could say, yeah, I'd declare this as it.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_04]: I just don't know.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with that.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: And also, I mean, we talk about this all the time.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't want to sound like a broken record here.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: But no, they saw those are just so overprinted.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: And the print run just so high that I just don't see
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: value in when you're buying a prospect, not a proven star, an associate value in any base auto because they're just providing people, especially now, are just looking for more scarce stuff.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: The scarcity is what's winning right now.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, no matter how you look at it and based on those on not scarce, cool, if you're collecting for a different reason other than to make money, you know, tremendous respect, great, cool, awesome, that's what collecting is, but if you're looking to make money, people are looking for scarce, low number cards, low population cards, we say this all the time, but with prospects, people want the scarcity below number cards.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I'm looking for the same thing.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm not looking, you know, when you get yourself in trouble, you start buying prospects because you're just guessing and thinking that's the right guy.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's the guy, that's the next guy.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Or because you're like,
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: What's that?
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because you're bored because you're bored exactly.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sometimes it takes patience.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the got you might not like somebody that's in that it was in the draft product that is in Bowman draft.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think the guy that comes out of draft that's going to be the best guy is Joe Joe Parker, right?
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: His prices already kind of reflect that.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, like, what are you going to do?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: You have to look elsewhere.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's nobody that you like, you know, just what don't spend $5,000 on the red right now.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to have conviction.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't have conviction, you wait, you'd be patient.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's just the way I see it.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like right now, everybody that I am interested in, that I still holding their cards, that I'm convicted on, or guys that are, you know, Luis Pena, like,
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Griffith, like these guys are all like we know they're crushing it.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're doing well.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: Those wait to Paula, you know, like these guys ate in Miller, like Gary said, these guys are already doing their thing and their prices are reflecting it as the room for growth in their pricing.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure there is with a didn't Miller, absolutely.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: There is with George Lombard.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think in it, I think there is, you know, he's a Yankee, I just think the Yankee's will screw him up and not bring him up, but you gotta be patient.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's the bottom line.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: it's kind of fast when adding.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: If you look at like I said, the SX100, this like the the biggest snapshot 100 is up 86% the high ends up 63%.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: Vintage overall is only up 27%.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: You know, inventage is this really, really consistent thing that's actually higher than I thought it would be to be honest.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know, and I'm sitting here going, man, so when you combine some of these indexes, right, you say, okay, instead of just going after high end or instead of just going after vintage, I'm going to go after low pop high and vintage.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean, it like super niche in like what you're going after, and I start to think that you you're cornering aspects of the market that are very difficult to be replicated.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: The question that I have though is, will people continue to put this kind of capital into these assets?
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: This is a legitimate conversation I have today.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: Gary, I want you to weigh in on this because I know you've shared, you've got some commercial real estate or whatever.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: I tend to like income-producing assets.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: If I had my brothers, right?
- 28:42[SPEAKER_00]: Assets that I can put money into that generate income, not just appreciating assets, but income-producing assets.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: I like depreciating assets.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of people I love.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: depreciating us.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of people in this hobby that knew like depreciating assets.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: But the point being is that, you know, it's hard for me when you get into a certain stratosphere, right?
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: Of going, okay, I'm going to buy a card that's a six figure card versus I can go put that into an income producing rental property, you know, or whatever.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_00]: And so a little Matt said that, I'd love for you guys to talk about this.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: He said, if all of the CEO's
- 29:21[SPEAKER_00]: And all three CEOs had to say, where would I put 100 grand over the next 90 days?
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: Where would you put it?
- 29:29[SPEAKER_00]: And it was interesting because it made me think.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, I'd want to go find an income producing asset.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: Rather than chasing after a big vintage card or even a bunch of small cards.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have to go all the way down that path.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm just curious if you guys take on when it gets to a certain sphere of how much money is going to continue to flow in these non-income producing assets
- 29:51[SPEAKER_04]: Go ahead, Gary.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I'm about to go on a tangent curve to go ahead and I mean, I've got a, I got a tangent.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: No, I want to, I want to hear your tangent.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: I want to hear your tangent.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_04]: I love, I love analogies.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_04]: I love them.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_04]: I love the comparison between the stock market and cards.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to give you an
- 30:06[SPEAKER_04]: For example, when there's overbought territory, and there's oversold territory, and our buddy, Brent, where does a really good job of trying to highlight the fear and greed index?
- 30:15[SPEAKER_04]: Have you ever seen him post that before?
- 30:17[SPEAKER_04]: Where it talks about the stock market and fear and greed, and where people are out in that?
- 30:20[SPEAKER_04]: We've been at a greed cycle, we've been at a fear cycle with the war, it's bounced back and forth, and we're somewhere kind of in between that.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: I think everybody's, I think that's what you would call the markets in general, that people are just waiting.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_04]: And we talk about, we don't show that in sports cards.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_04]: the world is this news fury of oh wars ending tomorrow no we're gonna bomb them tomorrow the wars ending tomorrow what the no it's not and so when i look at this and you look at cars i'm going to use countergiffin as an example when countergiffin's blue true blue first auto starts getting close to 2k
- 30:52[SPEAKER_04]: which it's the one sold the other day for 2.5.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_04]: I start going that's over sold territory in my opinion.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_04]: For the value that he could provide, when Mike Trout's BGS9 is worth 12 to 15,000, we think Connor Griffin can be in that sphere.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, he's got a long way to go to be there, but he's got that potential.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_04]: 2000's pretty cheap on that guy.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_04]: when Kevin McGonagall is batting 320 in his rookie year and is the favorite to be the AL rookie of the year and you can buy his true blue for $1,400.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_04]: That's oversold in my opinion.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_04]: And and that's where I think we're starting to border.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_04]: We were overbought.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_04]: That's some moments.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think we're starting to get back to where I'm interested to dip a toe back in on the other side.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_04]: I hope that it continues to get oversold because I've been looking for these opportunities, so continue to oversell it.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_04]: Let me go buy JJ weatherhole orange shimmers, which I'm buying orange shimmers.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'll admit it, I'll raise my hand.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_04]: A bought one for like 1,400 bucks.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_04]: So give me a orange shimmer auto.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_04]: So you're saying over selling is leading to finding value.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what I'm sitting here watching cards now because people are sitting so far on the sidelines and some of these guys that you can come slide back in and find value.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what I've started to do.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_04]: There's an auction ending tonight and sit just two of them.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_04]: And these cards, I'm going to buy them tonight.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to tell you right now because they're going incredibly low and no one will know until after this episode
- 32:20[SPEAKER_04]: Two, two, Kevin McGonagall Blacks are on Bids tonight.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: They're like 15 and 1800 dollars.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_04]: I was on those two.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_04]: So what's behind together?
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: Let's find out.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because they're going to be a child.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just kidding.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just kidding.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_04]: They're doing their way to cheat.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_04]: And they're going to end up in this relationship started exactly.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_03]: You started like, who are we beating on the same card?
- 32:39[SPEAKER_04]: Let's start a bit of a child are up here.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_04]: But tonight those cards are going to end low.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_04]: And they're going to go too low.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm probably going to slide in and buy those two cards because that's what's happening.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_04]: People have got with gone the other way now.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_04]: people have gone and pulled it back and they're going, oh, what's next?
- 32:56[SPEAKER_04]: It's stagnant.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of put everybody to sleep.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_04]: Why that happens sometimes you slide in and you find that opportunity?
- 33:02[SPEAKER_04]: And so I'm going to give this example, this analogy between Bowman right now and tech AI.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: AI was the rage.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody wanted AI.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody wanted the maga.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_04]: Right or not Maga the what do they call that the tech fight not mac and a sub trump what's the what do they call that stuff the They got meta you got meta you've got Google you've got Amazon yet all that I can remember it's something some little thing like magma, but it's not I'm not help here
- 33:31[SPEAKER_04]: No one is giving me a little one watching you, I don't think you guys watch the market quite the same, but anyway, those stocks have been Favorites Apple meta Google for years.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, they just could not go down.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_04]: Well now all the stuff in my heart on each of my cars fun.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_04]: No, they make a name for those for these tech these tech stuff tech names
- 33:54[SPEAKER_04]: And essentially those stocks have not gone down.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_04]: They have not gone down at all.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_04]: While the sudden the last six months they have, there's been this overselling of these names.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_04]: Well, now that things are starting to kind of creep back up, you know what's starting to come back to quickest.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_04]: Are those names because you know who, do our people are using Instagram any less?
- 34:11[SPEAKER_04]: Are they using Amazon any less?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_04]: Are they using Google any less?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_04]: And if an absolutely a no, are people looking for Bowman in any less right now, or they're less people wanting to get into Bowman right now?
- 34:23[SPEAKER_04]: The answer is no.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_04]: So I look at Bowman long term.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_04]: Is this an opportunity to kind of reassess and kind of find some value?
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: And then I look at Vinage as a dividend stock.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_04]: I look at it as this boring dividend that you know, it's safe and it's going to be there forever.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_04]: And it's going to pay you a little value every year sitting in your safe when you look 20 years out.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_04]: And then I look at this low end bullshit.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_04]: that people are selling on these breaks.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_04]: And this BS, it's a cosmic raptor out of 55.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a gold chain on and it's really shiny.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm buying it for 1200 bucks.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_04]: E-slash.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_04]: That shit's like buying crispy cream donut stock.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_04]: That shit don't exist anymore, bro.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_04]: And your car is going to be gone in a year.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_04]: No one wants that shit.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_04]: They're going to burn it.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_04]: So that's where I'm at with the market right now is you want to be going with the good stuff.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_04]: And the good Bowman, the tech, the AI names, look at the names that are going to hold value, look at guys that have true talent.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_04]: And that's the shit you buy.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_04]: Don't buy this trash.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_04]: If you want to put your stuff, you put your money and kind of a dividend stock, go and advantage.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_04]: If you want to go something that has a high riser, find good names in Bowman
- 35:38[SPEAKER_04]: this is why I wanted this rant.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's so funny.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Bubba's like a little wind-up doll like Gurn.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: Gurn just wants you, but let's sing together.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I think what you were talking about is the magnificent seven is I was talking about the top six.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I said back because I was thinking magnificent.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm sorry.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we we've corrected that and we've got another and I love to your point You know this idea about buying stuff You know that you have conviction in and relating it to the stocks and again the dividend earning vintage versus the bum and being the tech stock and all that kind of stuff versus the trash It's just out there the penny stocks.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah investor center.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you said it's like selling investor center What not is investor center by the way in case you were wondering what not is investor center?
- 36:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a dirty place.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_00]: So, current, what are your thoughts on this?
- 36:32[SPEAKER_00]: You've been kind of quiet sitting in the background.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: I just want to be entertained by Gary.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, no, like, I think you said it honestly very well.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that analogy with penny stocks and all that smaller bullshit.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, look, people click what they want to collect.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see any value of those things.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_01]: I see absolutely no value.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of forgot what you're talking about.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_04]: When you're buying that when you're buying this, when you're buying this tray turn or brand card, it sucks.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_04]: When you're buying the, when you're when you're buying the cosmic brownie, coal emerson, flash, red alpha card, it sucks.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_04]: go buy the best card that's there.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_04]: The Bowman first.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_04]: Ford, I mean, uh, and find a real car of a real player that real value.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_01]: So our, um, actually a couple weeks ago, he was texting me and he's like, I have some cold Emerson.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: I have a couple cold Emerson cards.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like, should I get real now?
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking about getting rid of one.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, well, what do you have?
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think he said, like, I have a true boom.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: a true blue first auto and I have a red sapphire PSA 10 non auto hop-1 and I was like get rid of the red sapphire.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: He text me like a week later and he goes I got an offer for like
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: $5,000 on eBay on the red sapphire non-auto.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, am I underselling it?
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, no, except take it all your day.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, he's like, but it's a shit card.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, tell it.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sell it.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm sorry.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's a red, I get it.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_01]: But it's like, it's a sapphire selection.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: Prospect Sapphire, it's like there's none autograph, like take it, you know what I mean?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: So here's the premise though, like so top football just released.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, we love fanatics.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: We love, you know, top set of our buddies and all the folks at fanatics that do a great job.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: But they've done a great job of bringing, you know, eyes to the hobby, et cetera.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: But Bubba, to your point,
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: that is what's perpetuating this is the manufacturers are perpetuating this because they need product to sell and you know talking about this like with allocations and stuff going to these breaking companies now what you're having to do we walk into our local card shop one of our local card shops other day they bought the top football release and he said that to get a second round
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: for football.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so that's the other thing I want to talk about where we're talking about finding value in the market.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously we talk primarily and mostly about cards, right?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: But sealed wax is a huge opportunity to actually make money.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now that fanatics has the licensing for football and basketball, I think this year is an unprecedented year where wax prices are through the roof because it's
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: the first year of that.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: I know there are possible cases can be impossible to get your hands on.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you're going on top, so it's an EQL, it's impossible to get, you know, it's impossible to win and then you're fighting bots when it's not an EQL, but even on those that first day after secondary market.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: pricing or a week later even if it's double the price and it's a good product and you have you know you have a feeling that there's a great rookie class it's still worth buying and holding on to.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're appreciating assets if it's a great class buy them and hold on to them stop them away lock them in a room with you don't and you don't know the combination so you don't rip
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what you will say is like how many people have the discipline to buy or what if you have the discipline It's a great investment.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, don't I mean and even if it's not a great rookie class It's not going down from retail price.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, it's risky if you're buying it You know if you're buying in a secondary market and non retail, right?
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: But it's also probably readily available to get if it's if it's not a great rookie class But if you can get your hands on some
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: at a good price, even well over retail.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's worth the stock.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: You can make a lot of money doing.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I see old wax.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_04]: So are I'm stocked a lot about 26 draft?
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, that's coming.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_04]: It's being probably one of his favorite classes, maybe that will ever have come through.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_04]: Guys, I think that's a great point, Kern, like that's where people should be targeting that.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: you look at some of the wax holdings that you could have done the last three four five years if you would have held and i had done some of this i mean it's easy money i mean it's an easy fifty to a hundred percent hold if you have that does that discipline when i was when i was when we were when i was ripping um
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: a ton of 24 draft late last year searching for that Connor super and you know there's still a couple reds out there just a great class overall cases were like $8,000 hobby case right and it was like oh my god this is so expensive it's crazy they're 14 15 grand now like I wish I bought all of them
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: That we're available at eight grand.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: It just keeps going up.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: So the class is good, buy.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's an interesting thing, too.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, because I wonder kind of plant levels advocate here.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: How much of the value of those boxes is created by the breaking industry, right?
- 41:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I mean, again, they have to have product to have a show.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, bottom line.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: right and so how much of that industry is and again I'm not I'm not knocking it like I believe that the repack industry and the breaking industry and this online selling that is actually a leg of the table that is holding up this hobby you can like it or not like it it is 1,000% supporting the value structure in this hobby.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_04]: Well, well, you're getting something ham.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_04]: You gotta, if you're saying that though, you gotta, you've gotta hit this topic because it's happening right, it's happened for the last six weeks in Bowman.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_04]: It's almost been non-existent the re-back world.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, I understand that and that's what I'm saying.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's like how like the long-term sustainability of the re-pack and the breaking industry is based on people willing to buy knowing that, you know, a lot of junk is in there, right?
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: And when you get an uneducated populous who comes into the hobby and goes, oh, fun, shiny object, let me put some money in this.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_00]: I hear people are making money in sports cards, and then they get burned.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_00]: They don't do well or whatever.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Most people are talking about in breaks.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just in general.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, I think a lot of, I think a little values of these cards and these products are being propped up by people who don't know what they're doing and they're just getting into the market and they're buying into this and it's not as sustainable long term as we might think.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_00]: But maybe there's always going to be folks who are just into that kind of thing.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: But it's kind of curious.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand it.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: But I just, I have trepidation and hesitancy because I know that that is a major part of the industry that's being propped up.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: I agree with what you said that it's a leg of the hobby that you know is withdrawing it.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: I always think it's extremely dangerous for newcomers to come in and do that.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's going to last as long as people are willing to gamble because that's what it is.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's a gambling app and it honestly is scary because newcomers coming in especially kids.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is a whole nother topic, right?
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: But kids coming in that just can charge their credit card.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: and max out their credit limit.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's gambling.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's gambling.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's not collecting.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like those aren't collectors.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Those are gamblers.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but whatnot is a gambling app.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, the breakers, I think are a big piece of this hobby that keeps it going.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: They run through product.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it is.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: They run through product.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: They're big legs for fanatics.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: They run through product.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: But it's really dangerous.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't educate people on the actual card market or collecting or the right way to do things.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: All it does is max out their credit cards and put them in significant amount of debt.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_04]: to one thing to touch on and I've had this written on my sheet for a while.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_04]: And again, I mentioned shimmers earlier and I don't want to make this a shimmer show, but I do want to mention this and I think this is something that would you just mention this to him?
- 44:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's the perfect time to mention it.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of times waves and shimmers and sapphires had been a big repack type product, right?
- 44:42[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of buying of those cars.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_04]: You would see up?
- 44:44[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_04]: You hit a gold shimmer PSA 10.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_04]: That's a grail.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_04]: Who's as welcome?
- 44:50[UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:01[UNKNOWN]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what they say.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_04]: I don
- 45:07[SPEAKER_04]: Roughly 50% of value of a true.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_04]: Is that how you all viewed it in the past somewhere in that range around 50% of value?
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_04]: The reason I've been dipping my toe again into these things is repackers are not buying these cards.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_04]: They're selling at sometimes 10, 15, 20% that of a true right now because there's been those less of a buyer.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that that's another opportunity when you're seeing true oranges a PSA nine self or eight grand and a shimmer is selling for 1500 of the same card.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_04]: That's an opportunity.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_04]: And so that's something that's why I've been dipping my toe a little more in the shimmers and waves.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: recently because there's been less of a buyer pull on a good player.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not buying co-co-christ shimmers, okay?
- 45:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm buying Kevin McGonagouls.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'm buying the cut gages because that's where there's value on a good player that exists.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_04]: So anyway, I just had to share that.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_04]: I like to share those little tidbits.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a for somebody that's looking for some value.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_04]: If you're seeing shimmers, sapphires and waves going for 25% or less of that of a true, I think that's an opportunity.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to start calling you Bubba Schimmer Wilson, Coco Chris Schimmer.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, I feel like I feel like we have to stay on top of, you know, educating these people that listen to this show.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: And most of our listeners probably understand this, but people who come in and they're wanting to get like, I think that there's such a need for education in the hobby space, but it's kind of one of those things, like the more you educate people, the less it kind of pads the pockets of some of the junk out there.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of this
- 46:49[SPEAKER_00]: you know what I mean?
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because then they stopped buying wax.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like I literally was in this local card shop the other day and this mom was in there with their son and the card shop owner was like yeah you probably don't want to buy a box of cards.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and I'm saying they're going like, hmm, I don't know that the folks at fanatics would necessarily want to hear a car shop owner telling people not to do that.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_00]: But it is wise from the standpoint of ROI.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: So we're in this weird kind of space where it's like, I don't know the answer, but it is definitely something to be aware of.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, people are always going to rip wax, right?
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's nostalgic for some people, some people that's fun for, and other people
- 47:30[SPEAKER_01]: you know, or me it's fun.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, it's nostalgic, you know, like here in the soldier.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, something I'll tell you guys too that I'm aware of and just to bring this up for those of our listeners with their stuff.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: Some of my boys, you know, they love sports.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: They follow the stat line.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not Matthew as much as the twins and Matthew is he Matthew took his energy towards stat lines and understanding markets.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_00]: and put it towards cards.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why he's done really well.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: The twins have gotten kind of more, they're more gamers.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: And so they have gotten intrigued by a couple of these apps.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't even know the name.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: I know one of them's called Fliff, but basically it is a it's a free app that you can get and they give you like a dollar a day.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: And you can do a variety of things with that dollar.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: You can actually put it on a blackjack hand or you can bet on games.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now I will tell you
- 48:18[SPEAKER_00]: that this is something I monitor very closely.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: But they have been betting on things.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the thing about this app, this interesting is is once you build that $1 up to $50, you can actually cash that out for real money.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: And again, to go from $1 to $50 is a pretty long shot or whatever.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: But our boys have done it twice now.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I've seen real money come into the account out of this flip thing.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they're trying to sell you all this other stuff.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so, I'm serious, dude, it's very scary because they, they, the, the app creators, the whatever, they're trying to condition the next generation to addicted to gambling.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's really scary.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_00]: I am fighting this tooth and nail with my 14 year old sons because like last night, they, they were watching the,
- 49:06[SPEAKER_00]: the hurricanes and the Stanley Cup playoffs, and they had put some money on this game to this flip app or whatever, and they want to stay up to double over time, 11 o'clock watching this hurricane's game.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, yeah, this is fun.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, holy crap, this is scary.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what are we doing?
- 49:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: And so, whether it's that or the card thing or whatever, I want our listeners to be understanding of the dangers out there of what's actually going on and people being conditioned to be addicted to gambling,
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: That actually is really scary.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: What's the general finishing the brain?
- 49:41[SPEAKER_04]: Well, in general, that's the whole thing with Apple started it with the iPhone that started the conditioning of the brain to have to be addicted to the device that we're all using probably right now to telecast here, but now they've taken it to kids with his YouTube shorts.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_04]: YouTube shorts to me is the absolute number one worst thing I've ever seen on the planet for kids because Kids cannot even sit through a baseball game anymore for two and a half hours because they're always got to have What is that next dopamine hit what is that next in the 15 22nd video and I've seen my kids do this on more than the dozen occasions watch the same video
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: within the same 30 minute loop three times that was 15 seconds and it was the dumbest stuff you've ever seen.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the dumbest video and I'm sitting there and I asked him I'm like, what are you getting out of this?
- 50:34[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just like this click click click click click next one.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_04]: And it just is just your brain going like I need more of that.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_04]: I need more of that.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_04]: And to it's it's good.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell you what, that there's a reason why executives at YouTube and at men that don't have their children watch YouTube or on Facebook or on Instagram.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: They don't allow it.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you that.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_01]: In a reason.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this is something for another day or whatever, where's definitely some passion here for us as all of us being dads with young kids and like loving a hobby and loving to be engaged in sports or whatever, but then also seeing how unhealthy it can become and seeing the dangers that like our kids have.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like what what little Matt has done and what I've been able to walk with him through with sports cards.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so proud of that.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the man I'm so proud of that, but the trade-off is as he spends a lot of time on his device, you know, he's on his phone a lot.
- 51:27[SPEAKER_00]: And then I see it kind of going down to the twins, Gary, to your point is like the YouTube shorts and the reels and just the quick kind of cycle stuff or whatever.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just kind of, I don't know, man, it's just it's really, really interesting because it's easy to get lost in the world of like,
- 51:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, we're having fun, we're making money.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, back cards or whatever.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_00]: And next thing you know, you look up and you're like, dude, like, is this really hit?
- 51:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like, we won't, our kids to be like fake betting on, you know, hockey games, like, come on, man.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it's been a little bit of this reset.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: Going back to my kind of topic of my mind, I've been sitting here going, hey, do we need to reset?
- 51:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 52:00[SPEAKER_00]: The purpose and intentionality underneath all those.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, and I'll just be kind of my last statement on this, you hit it there with what about the Google and the meta executives because we are the lab rats and our kids are the lab rats that they're experimenting.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_04]: They have taken the smartest people on the planet and they have studied how human the human brain works.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_04]: they have studied it and they have said how are we going to get people addicted to our product that have to consume more?
- 52:27[SPEAKER_04]: How do we make our app better?
- 52:29[SPEAKER_04]: How do we make sure it's better?
- 52:30[SPEAKER_04]: How do we make this product?
- 52:32[SPEAKER_04]: And then how do we go incentivize influencers that are on these spaces and make them idolized?
- 52:39[SPEAKER_04]: How do we idolize these people and what it is and whether people don't wake up with this or not going to the park and going to the zoo like Kern is done Like if people are doing that and they're not going on walks and they're not going and sitting at real baseball games without their phone How go to the next baseball game go to your kids next sporting event and watch how many parents as their kid is playing the game are on their phone Okay, these are adults
- 53:06[SPEAKER_04]: Watch the kids that are now even a middle of games when they're older or trying to go to their cell phones.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_04]: To me, it's a scary, scary, scary thing.
- 53:15[SPEAKER_04]: And we talk and we haven't even got, we haven't even got to the tip of this iceberg boys with AI coming where people are going to literally be falling in love with their phone.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_04]: They're going to marry AI.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_04]: It's scary, frickin' world, and keep your kids in reality.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, keep yourself in reality, because it's scary, scary.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I don't want my kids to watch you, too.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's deleted on every single TV, every single tablet they have.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: When I come in the house, I put my phone in a drawer.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's, you got to leave by example.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: They see me on my phone all the time.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be on there.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to think that's what it is, you know.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the hard part, man.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, truth be told is just, you know, it's massively convicting.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we all have jobs, we all have,
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: We all have things.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_00]: We all, you know, and you kind of justified going, well, I got to be available, or I have to take this call or where I actually had a lunch with a guy yesterday You know, and it was it was this weird Spain.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: We were having lunch.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was a co-worker of my one of our guys and I had a phone call from a client and I decided to take the phone call from the client That's probably spent 10 minutes outside on the phone and I walked back in and the guy was at the table and I was like man, what would it ask to take that call in the middle of that lunch?
- 54:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 54:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I value this client over this person that's in front of me.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_00]: When I could have told the client, like, hey man, I'm at a lunch, I may call you back.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_00]: And like I woke up this morning having my coffee thinking about that.
- 54:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: And so today when I go into the office, I'm going to go to that employee.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go to that guy and say, hey man, listen, I'm apologizing to you for taking that call during our lunch because that said a precedent that that call was more important.
- 54:43[SPEAKER_00]: The you because you're in front of me.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and like that's something that I need to change about myself, but you just get so condition.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, Oh, so many needs me.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: So my knees back.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_00]: I do this again, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you get in this high functioning kind of thing.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just not healthy.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, again, that's just a thing.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's a nice way to end this show today.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: And the middle of the market and the middle of the craziness you're looking for the next opportunity.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: But like, are you really okay with just being okay?
- 55:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: Can you just sit back and be patient and wait and not have to dive in and have that next level of hit?
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, that's just kind of the sobering sports card CEO thought of the day.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's okay to be bored in this hobby.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like when I'm bored, I enjoy watching bass, I've been enjoying watching more baseball games than anything.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like for the love of the sport, you know?
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's why I started collecting baseball cards
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: If I get a little burnt out and bored and, you know, you have to be patient in the card market, but it's a smart baseball man, and if you enjoy baseball, just watch your baseball and enjoy.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay to be bored.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's my last question from
- 55:56[SPEAKER_04]: This is going to be my best life lesson of the day.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_04]: And my wife is very thankful for my wife for this, because we've been in a crazy, busy, season of life with sports and everything else.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_04]: And I mean, I've got people coming out and we've read a different direction.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_04]: I know I haven't been lately with you guys, even on some of our text messages.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't been as active because I've had to, I've had to kind of protect myself in a way.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_04]: I've had so much going on that,
- 56:20[SPEAKER_04]: I wasn't going to be strapped.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_04]: I literally had to be strapped in my phone 24-7 every moment I'm not there.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_04]: So I had to kind of protect myself to be engaged with my family, to be engaged with my kid, to be in that moment.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_04]: And I had had this stress lately of like, hey, honey, I've got like two or three events that were coming up that I really just didn't want to go to.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, and these were things that like I didn't need to go to necessarily but these people wanted me to go and I didn't really want to go to it and my wife gave me a really good piece of advice and I think this is the what you should you can take the same piece of advice in the sports card right now in the stagnation period if it's not a hell yes it's a hell no and I think that's exactly where you should be right now on sports cards.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_04]: If it's a car you're about to buy, hell yes, I love this player, hell yes, I love the value, yes, I want to own that car, and if it's not, then you don't.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_04]: If it's something that you wake up every day, and you don't want to go to that dead end job, every single day, then go find something in your life that's gonna make you happy and passionate.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_04]: And if you're not happy with something along your life, make it a hell yes.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_04]: Make something that gives you hell yes is every day.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_04]: And stop doing the hell nose.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_04]: That's my best advice for the day.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_04]: And it's been it's been really good for me because it just keeps your mind pretty simple to go and I want to do that.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not doing that.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_04]: I want to do that.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to do more of that anyway.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, it's my advice for great advice boys.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I tell you what, the motivational speaker in me, the the consummate, you know, the main encourager in me, you boys have delivered some A plus contact.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay to be bored.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_00]: I love it in Baba.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: If it not a hell, yes, it's a hell, no.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: Good stuff, boys.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_00]: Well, as always, man, I appreciate you fellows.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking forward.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think we need to put some on the counter.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see you guys and give you some hugs and hang out and and do the whole thing.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes soon, either at Ray Ken's cell is filled out there.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_00]: Bum garden.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_00]: Bum garden.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_04]: Well, what's a bar out of a bar up on the if we're calling this thing CEO field in the call to I'm not that ship you guys in here and help me install this thing We're gonna do the labor you better have some sweat equity in this thing boys.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well as always man Appreciate you guys and to our listeners.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for tuning in to another episode of sports cards CEO We will be back with you guys next week.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_00]: Do you guys?
