- 1:52Speaker 1: bit a housekeeping announcement. We have moved, as you can
- 1:55Speaker 1: clearly see a different background, different little setup we got
- 1:58Speaker 1: going on here. You will continue to see changes as
- 2:00Speaker 1: we go forward and things get fully furnished and set
- 2:03Speaker 1: up and moved over. So before anybody any questions, thoughts,
- 2:06Speaker 1: comments concerns about that. As always though, I made sure
- 2:08Speaker 1: to make sure the tree was here and in its
- 2:11Speaker 1: full form and luster. Also got an adorable little cat
- 2:14Speaker 1: and a little pink little jack lantern there for Halloween
- 2:18Speaker 1: housekeeping done. In this episode of Disgui's coverage, we will
- 2:22Speaker 1: be diving into a buffalo bills by week, checklist fixes, focuses,
- 2:30Speaker 1: areas of concern, areas for potential improvement. Wow, I know,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I know there's a lot of cobbas. This would just
- 2:37Speaker 1: gotta be real quick. It's from Kbor. You said the
- 2:39Speaker 1: tree isn't on fire. It doesn't reflect the state of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the team. Well then, oh, thank you very much. Williams
- 2:46Speaker 1: said the tree survived the move. Congratulations on the new place.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The tree almost didn't. I was very nervous for it
- 2:52Speaker 1: in transit, but I took extra special care of it
- 2:54Speaker 1: and it came through a pretty clean So yeah, I
- 2:57Speaker 1: think for that art, just as we have the tree,
- 2:59Speaker 1: that's all we did. I appreciate that. Yeah. So not
- 3:04Speaker 1: an ideal state for the Buffalo Bills. Back to back losses,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and not only the losses themselves, but do you think
- 3:11Speaker 1: the way that the losses came about, starting with the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Patriots and then this game against the Falcons two performances
- 3:18Speaker 1: that are not ideal, Two performances that really show potential
- 3:25Speaker 1: vulnerabilities on both sides of the ball from a schematic standpoint,
- 3:29Speaker 1: from a personnel standpoint, several of them I'm pretty frustrated with.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm trying to go into this episode very level headed
- 3:40Speaker 1: because a lot of the frustrations that I have with
- 3:42Speaker 1: the team and some of the vulnerabilities they have are
- 3:44Speaker 1: things that we talked about on the show multitude of
- 3:46Speaker 1: times during the offseason. Right, certain areas, certain archetypes that
- 3:50Speaker 1: they look towards at certain position groups, certain philosophies or
- 3:55Speaker 1: identities that they have on each side of the ball
- 3:57Speaker 1: or specific sides of the ball. It seems like those
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, issues have really kind of come to a
- 4:02Speaker 1: head the past couple of weeks. Now that doesn't mean
- 4:03Speaker 1: they can't fix them. It doesn't mean those won't be
- 4:05Speaker 1: issues going forward. But there are several points I think
- 4:09Speaker 1: that will be made in this episode that a lot
- 4:12Speaker 1: of people could have seen coming, that a lot of
- 4:14Speaker 1: people may have predicted, and so to see them come
- 4:18Speaker 1: to fruition in the annoying fashion that they have come
- 4:21Speaker 1: to fruition is frustrating in a multitude of ways. So
- 4:25Speaker 1: we're going to dive into those points. As I mentioned
- 4:28Speaker 1: in the chat earlier, this show is always very engagement focused,
- 4:32Speaker 1: you know. I like to make it about the live
- 4:34Speaker 1: chat as much as possible, So questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 4:37Speaker 1: anything and everything that you folks have on your mind.
- 4:39Speaker 1: As I try to recenter the camera there put it
- 4:42Speaker 1: into the live chat. Superchats as always get priority because
- 4:44Speaker 1: I respect a monetary donation and the color attracts me
- 4:47Speaker 1: from my notes. But also, you know, again that's how
- 4:49Speaker 1: we operate here normally, but especially given the current state
- 4:52Speaker 1: of the team, I know there's a lot of thoughts
- 4:54Speaker 1: on the coaching staff, on the players, on Bean, on
- 4:58Speaker 1: what's going to happen going forward on what happened in
- 5:00Speaker 1: the past, So anything and everything, questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 5:04Speaker 1: let's put it up into the chat. I'm gonna lead
- 5:06Speaker 1: off with some pieces from the live chat, just kind
- 5:09Speaker 1: of go through, and then we'll start to get into
- 5:10Speaker 1: my notes, my thoughts. We'll see how it ties into everything.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I know a lot of people make comments or reverences
- 5:15Speaker 1: to this being like a therapy session or like a
- 5:17Speaker 1: venting session. But if that's what you need, feel free
- 5:20Speaker 1: have at it. And yeah, let's enjoy this Tuesday night,
- 5:24Speaker 1: even though the bills are two in the past two
- 5:26Speaker 1: weeks and we're less than twenty four hours move from
- 5:28Speaker 1: a pretty ugly loss, Jason says. In this episode of
- 5:30Speaker 1: The Guy's coverage, Ant fights off off calls to fire
- 5:33Speaker 1: the coaches and tries to have a productive conversation. I
- 5:36Speaker 1: will try to do that to a degree. We'll see,
- 5:39Speaker 1: James says. Old man down down by the docks of
- 5:42Speaker 1: the city, drunk and dirty, asked me for a dime
- 5:44Speaker 1: for a couple of coffee. Well played, oh, Cecil says,
- 5:47Speaker 1: just fire the coaches or fire the GM two who
- 5:50Speaker 1: I think we're going to talk about how everything kind
- 5:53Speaker 1: of coalesces into one. Oh, this is incorrect. Comment here
- 5:57Speaker 1: says this team could go Ohen seventeen and one would
- 6:00Speaker 1: still be defending McDermott until he's finally shown the door.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Then we'd get a video on why McDermott had to
- 6:05Speaker 1: be fired, like we did with Dorsey. I don't know
- 6:07Speaker 1: who this is in reference to. I don't think it's
- 6:09Speaker 1: a reference to me. I started mentioning issues with Dorsey,
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know, the year before he was fired. I also
- 6:16Speaker 1: when he got fired, I thought he got way too
- 6:19Speaker 1: much flat than he actually deserved. And then when it
- 6:22Speaker 1: comes to McDermott, I've always said, like, if he goes fine,
- 6:26Speaker 1: I just don't think the grass is necessarily always greener
- 6:28Speaker 1: on the other side, and I think there's a multitude
- 6:30Speaker 1: of variables. I don't think when people come in and just,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know, blanket make blanket statements about the brand, like
- 6:35Speaker 1: everybody thinks the same way and sees things the same way.
- 6:38Speaker 1: People are doing that on Twitter. To me too, this
- 6:40Speaker 1: is you know, I get you all have frustrations, but
- 6:43Speaker 1: don't try to just lash out at one person and
- 6:46Speaker 1: not treat them as an individual, but to each their
- 6:48Speaker 1: own have fun, do you? Joey says last week I
- 6:51Speaker 1: only needed a therapy session. This week, I might need
- 6:54Speaker 1: you to institutionalize me for twenty four days. My goodness,
- 6:58Speaker 1: we're not playing good right now. Let's keep going. Bob says,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I've decided to eliminate tea and coffee as a beverage
- 7:03Speaker 1: of choice for tonight and opted to pop open a
- 7:05Speaker 1: bottle of rubbing alcohol. Oh see, so this is brutal
- 7:10Speaker 1: seesus is sadder the days that watching the Giants is
- 7:13Speaker 1: more enjoyable than watching the Bills? Is this a sign
- 7:16Speaker 1: of the apocalypse? Pop's mafia? What's up? I hope you're
- 7:19Speaker 1: doing well. Pop says, fix this in all caps, Joey
- 7:25Speaker 1: showing some love for the tree. Appreciate you, appreciate you. Oh,
- 7:29Speaker 1: follow up comment here, This says an what's it going
- 7:32Speaker 1: to take for McDermott to get fired? Oh? This is
- 7:34Speaker 1: the same person who kind of blanketed statement. Oh and
- 7:37Speaker 1: I see this scroll down there. It's in reference to
- 7:39Speaker 1: the entire cover one. Cool in general. Cool. I don't
- 7:42Speaker 1: necessarily think the same way as everyone else, So I
- 7:44Speaker 1: would appreciate it if you treated me as me and
- 7:47Speaker 1: not just tog in the wheel or spoke in the wheel,
- 7:51Speaker 1: because I think I operate a little differently. Thank you
- 7:55Speaker 1: appreciate William Heath's cover one is not a monolith. Appreciate that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I will go back to your other question, though, I'm Sabbath,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and what's it gonna take for McDermott to get fired.
- 8:07Speaker 1: We've talked about that on the show at times. You
- 8:09Speaker 1: talked about it in the offseason. I've talked about it
- 8:10Speaker 1: on other shows. I don't know, because I think from
- 8:16Speaker 1: a Terry Pagoula standpoint, he's earned a good amount of rope,
- 8:20Speaker 1: him and Brandon being with what they've built here, what
- 8:22Speaker 1: they've done. And I also think just from a pragmatic standpoint,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I understand the big picture is to win the super Bowl.
- 8:27Speaker 1: And this is what I've always said on McDermott. I'm
- 8:29Speaker 1: gonna continue to say it now. For me personally, the
- 8:32Speaker 1: wheels would really have to fall off kind of how
- 8:35Speaker 1: they've been the past couple of weeks. I would need
- 8:37Speaker 1: to see a multitude of things that show there is
- 8:39Speaker 1: a failure on an execution level and a schematic level,
- 8:45Speaker 1: but also from like a cultural or a discipline level.
- 8:47Speaker 1: So continuing to have pre snap penalties, continuing to play sloppy,
- 8:51Speaker 1: continuing to look lackluster in their execution and in their energy,
- 8:59Speaker 1: continuing to just falter. From a mental standpoint and a
- 9:02Speaker 1: physical standpoint, I would really have to start to see
- 9:04Speaker 1: a lot of things you wrote. And for me, I
- 9:06Speaker 1: think that because I recognize the goal is to win
- 9:09Speaker 1: the super Bowl, but to win the super Bowl and
- 9:12Speaker 1: this is I think this is the tough spot. You
- 9:14Speaker 1: still have to get to the dance. So it is
- 9:17Speaker 1: good that you're so strong in the regular season and
- 9:19Speaker 1: winning the AFC in theory kind of every year, and
- 9:22Speaker 1: getting to be one of the final four, final two
- 9:23Speaker 1: teams in the conference, and then it becomes that question
- 9:26Speaker 1: of okay, when is that not good enough anymore? And
- 9:28Speaker 1: when is it you have to get over the hump?
- 9:31Speaker 1: And I recognize that we want this team to get
- 9:33Speaker 1: over the hump, and every team wants to get over
- 9:34Speaker 1: the hump. It's just a lot easier said than done. Again,
- 9:38Speaker 1: the odds of your one team winning the Super Bowl
- 9:41Speaker 1: versus the field. The odds are always with the field.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And you know you might be able to be like, yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 1: but what about the Kansas City Chiefs who seemed to
- 9:48Speaker 1: go to the super Bowl every year. For me, it
- 9:51Speaker 1: would really have to take a large scale erosion of
- 9:53Speaker 1: this team. And also a lot of it for me
- 9:56Speaker 1: is personnel choices and arct types that they make, And
- 10:01Speaker 1: I don't know how much of that is McDermott influence
- 10:05Speaker 1: or Brandon bean influence, and I don't think anyone really
- 10:09Speaker 1: knows that, So it's hard to parse those two things.
- 10:11Speaker 1: As I said in the intro of the show, and
- 10:13Speaker 1: as I've said throughout the off season, again, even though
- 10:16Speaker 1: you want to shout from the rooftops that I'm a
- 10:18Speaker 1: person apparently who will always defend McDermott no matter what,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I'm probably Brandon being at some point, which I don't
- 10:24Speaker 1: do blindly or as you know, kind of as a
- 10:26Speaker 1: cure all. I don't know. I have issues with some
- 10:30Speaker 1: of the schematic elements of this team and some of
- 10:32Speaker 1: the personnel roster building elements, and I don't know which
- 10:36Speaker 1: one of those is necessarily being versus McDermott. So I
- 10:38Speaker 1: don't know if fire McDermott cures or quells those. You
- 10:41Speaker 1: also could fire McDermott and get a much worse head coach.
- 10:44Speaker 1: You could all of a sudden plummet and fall apart,
- 10:46Speaker 1: or you could finally get over the mountaintop. I think
- 10:48Speaker 1: there's an equal chance of either happening, so I think
- 10:51Speaker 1: it's very much a risk reward. Colin says, we'll we
- 10:54Speaker 1: be doing fire. McDermott ornaments this Christmas, I think for
- 10:57Speaker 1: some those already are probably in circulation, and except since
- 11:01Speaker 1: r Jass, unfortunately, I feel like this team is fundamentally broken.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I don't think they are talented enough or smart enough
- 11:07Speaker 1: to overcome the systemic issues they have. I will say this,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I think smart enough I think is somewhat subjective. I
- 11:14Speaker 1: think it's hard to kind of necessarily detail out or
- 11:18Speaker 1: dig out the players intelligence levels or processing levels, even
- 11:21Speaker 1: though you can see some things at times. I think
- 11:24Speaker 1: from a talent standpoint, I think what started to show,
- 11:26Speaker 1: especially these past couple of weeks with the injuries, I
- 11:29Speaker 1: don't think this is an overly talented team. I don't
- 11:31Speaker 1: know if they really think it has been. In the
- 11:33Speaker 1: being a McDermott era, they've had strong players or good players,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and they've had some All pros, But right now I
- 11:37Speaker 1: don't necessarily think this team is loaded with a bunch
- 11:40Speaker 1: of like a tier S tier type of players. They
- 11:42Speaker 1: very much are a team that everybody does their job,
- 11:46Speaker 1: you know the quote unquote everybody does their one eleventh.
- 11:48Speaker 1: But I think they're a team that is really built
- 11:49Speaker 1: with a lot of like B minus to B plus players,
- 11:52Speaker 1: which can be fine, right, but if a couple of
- 11:54Speaker 1: those guys go down, now you have to rely more
- 11:58Speaker 1: on individuals. I don't think they necessarily have the individuals
- 12:03Speaker 1: that can consistently overcome the scheme that can consistently win
- 12:06Speaker 1: matchups that are you know, isol ball players where it's
- 12:09Speaker 1: just like clear it out, let him go to work,
- 12:10Speaker 1: do their thing. I don't think they really have those
- 12:12Speaker 1: guys on this roster. And so when the depth starts
- 12:18Speaker 1: to get eaten away at and the responsibility and reliability
- 12:24Speaker 1: starts to get eaten away, you start to see those
- 12:27Speaker 1: questions about the talent start to come to the forefront.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Arthur says, who would have thought that bos would be
- 12:33Speaker 1: our healthiest defender through the first six games. I don't
- 12:35Speaker 1: even think you should rink that drinks that seasonsless. Question?
- 12:38Speaker 1: What do you think about moving Bernard to safety to
- 12:40Speaker 1: play next to Bishop? I got asked this question on
- 12:42Speaker 1: Twitter earlier. For me, absolutely not. I don't think he
- 12:46Speaker 1: has the movement he's actual I'm gonna talk about him
- 12:49Speaker 1: in a bit this episode of his I don't know
- 12:51Speaker 1: what's going on with him in coverage this year, but
- 12:52Speaker 1: he's regressed. But even in this game, I don't know
- 12:55Speaker 1: if he's not healthy. And this was before he got
- 12:57Speaker 1: banged up and had to leave the game. His movement
- 12:59Speaker 1: is just not there. He looks like he's laboring a bit,
- 13:03Speaker 1: like he's hampered a little bit. But even in general,
- 13:05Speaker 1: I don't think he has the movement to play safety,
- 13:07Speaker 1: let alone having to see the game from depth, from
- 13:10Speaker 1: that vantage point, from that responsibility assignment standpoint is a
- 13:14Speaker 1: completely different world. So I would not be a fan
- 13:17Speaker 1: of them. I understand it, kind of it with the
- 13:19Speaker 1: thought process behind it, but I can't get there at all.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Coming he're saying, it's weird when we win, our defense
- 13:29Speaker 1: is giving our offense no room for air, while our
- 13:31Speaker 1: losses have our defense start to lock them up and
- 13:34Speaker 1: our offense can't get it done. Yeah, it's kind of
- 13:35Speaker 1: the opposite of complimentary football, and it's super annoying. Pop says,
- 13:39Speaker 1: a safety can be very athletic, but if he doesn't
- 13:41Speaker 1: know where to go and can't tackle, then what doesn't matter.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I feel like that's a cold Bishop reference. But we
- 13:45Speaker 1: will see josh or Jose, I should say, says opinions.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm making Joshua Palmer and Shakir wide receiver one and two.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Kean is just not looking good at all. I think.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I think from a depth chart standpoint and from a
- 13:59Speaker 1: U standpoint, yeah, I get like Shakira is kind of
- 14:04Speaker 1: the three, but I think Khalis Shakira is wide receiver
- 14:06Speaker 1: one on this team, and he's passed catching option two
- 14:08Speaker 1: behind Dalton Kincaid. The issue is the type of offense
- 14:12Speaker 1: that they've built schematically that won josh Allen a MVP
- 14:16Speaker 1: last year, put up a ton of record numbers last year.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Is built more for bigger, bodied wide receivers. It's built
- 14:24Speaker 1: more for condensed formations running the football, putting defenses into
- 14:29Speaker 1: run pass conflict. The more you eject Khalils Shakir into that,
- 14:33Speaker 1: the more that goes away a little bit. I think
- 14:35Speaker 1: Khalis Shakira is built more for a spread type of offense.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Even it can be a power spread type of deal,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but you don't want him banging, you know, and inserting
- 14:42Speaker 1: on duo and having to crack on dudes a bunch.
- 14:44Speaker 1: You want him working on the slot, you want to
- 14:46Speaker 1: get him in space. You want to get him the
- 14:47Speaker 1: ball on those you know, pass tags outside where they
- 14:50Speaker 1: have numbers advantage or an angles or space advantage, and
- 14:54Speaker 1: Allen can spit the ball out to him and kind
- 14:55Speaker 1: of let him do work in space. I think what
- 15:00Speaker 1: it's more so frustrating is not necessarily that Palmer and
- 15:04Speaker 1: Kean are wide receiver one and two. I think it's
- 15:06Speaker 1: more of the schematics of not being able to get
- 15:09Speaker 1: Khalil Shakir consistently involved getting him into a rhythm and
- 15:12Speaker 1: taking advantage of his skill set. And to your point, yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 1: Palmer did look good yesterday before he went down. Really unfortunate.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I just says, it's really it's really just said. This
- 15:22Speaker 1: team has consistently declined every year since twenty twenty one.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I think that was our shot. I'm not sure if
- 15:25Speaker 1: we will get another one. Apparently, I'm in the depression phase.
- 15:28Speaker 1: At twenty twenty one. Was the thirteen seconds here, right,
- 15:30Speaker 1: Everything kind of blurs into one another. I said it
- 15:36Speaker 1: when they lost the Kansas City I'm still staying it out.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I don't know if they beat the Bengals. I know
- 15:41Speaker 1: they would have been home in the AFC Championship against
- 15:43Speaker 1: the Bengals. I don't know if they beat Cincinnati, but
- 15:46Speaker 1: I understand your point. Oh another comment, what are your
- 15:50Speaker 1: thoughts on our routes for Kean or reusing him how
- 15:52Speaker 1: he was in college, or his route stats different more
- 15:55Speaker 1: slants for this man. I think it's just he. My
- 15:59Speaker 1: big thing with Keyon quin and then this might not
- 16:01Speaker 1: even directly answer your question.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Here.
- 16:03Speaker 1: My thing with key On Coleman is he was a
- 16:05Speaker 1: player that needed time on task. He was a raw player.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And I've said this on the show, and everybody and
- 16:11Speaker 1: their mother knows this. At this point. He played basketball
- 16:13Speaker 1: in Michigan State. He was new to football. He's still
- 16:16Speaker 1: learning the game. YadA, YadA, all that stuff. Right. He's
- 16:18Speaker 1: a high ceiling player, lower floor YadA, YadA, all that
- 16:21Speaker 1: kind of stuff.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:23Speaker 1: He needs time on task. He needs to work on
- 16:26Speaker 1: the finer points of his game. He needs to work
- 16:28Speaker 1: on his releases and his route stems, and his route
- 16:31Speaker 1: running and breaks and deception and pacing and all that stuff.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And I think he has made improvements in the majority
- 16:37Speaker 1: of those areas this year. His game against New Orleans
- 16:39Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago, he had several releases and
- 16:42Speaker 1: routes in that game that were really crisp, really deceptive.
- 16:46Speaker 1: He had a nice rocker step on a deep out.
- 16:48Speaker 1: He had a couple good releases where he shook clean
- 16:50Speaker 1: at the line and paired some technic county with the
- 16:52Speaker 1: size in the frame. The biggest thing with Keyon Coleman
- 16:55Speaker 1: is he's a guy who needed to develop and he
- 16:57Speaker 1: needed time on task to do so. And that's fine,
- 17:01Speaker 1: but it's a little less fine when you need him
- 17:04Speaker 1: to be wide receiver one or wide receiver two on
- 17:07Speaker 1: a team that's trying to win the Super Bowl. That's
- 17:10Speaker 1: not ideal for a guy who needs to develop, and
- 17:13Speaker 1: for a guy who needs time on task. That's asking
- 17:15Speaker 1: a lot of a guy who needs refinement and who
- 17:18Speaker 1: needs coaching and who needs to develop. So I'm not
- 17:21Speaker 1: saying that's not possible, but I never thought year two
- 17:25Speaker 1: Keon Coleman was going to be this stud. We're not
- 17:27Speaker 1: gonna know who Keyon Coleman is until probably year four
- 17:30Speaker 1: because of how much football he needs to play in
- 17:32Speaker 1: the learning that he needs to have, And so my
- 17:35Speaker 1: thoughts on our routes for him are. I feel like
- 17:38Speaker 1: they ask him what they think he's comfortable of run with,
- 17:41Speaker 1: you know, or what they think he's best suited to run.
- 17:44Speaker 1: He doesn't have the full route tree in his package yet.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I don't think his stem work is necessarily there, so
- 17:49Speaker 1: they use him on more physical physical physical starting routes
- 17:58Speaker 1: or the routes that are more dependent on his physical
- 18:00Speaker 1: like back shoulder throws that allow him to kind of
- 18:01Speaker 1: play as a power forward, some quick slants of the
- 18:03Speaker 1: line where he can use his body to kind of
- 18:06Speaker 1: get his body in box dudes out. They're relying, they're
- 18:09Speaker 1: tapping in more to what his traits are at this stage,
- 18:11Speaker 1: because I don't think he's necessarily there where they want him,
- 18:14Speaker 1: where they would need him to be, or where fans
- 18:16Speaker 1: need him to be. And I don't necessarily think that's
- 18:18Speaker 1: all Keyon's fault because drafting him last year, he was
- 18:22Speaker 1: a project. So you're drafting a guy that was a project,
- 18:25Speaker 1: but needing him to be an established person in year two.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I just it's not setting him up for failure. But
- 18:31Speaker 1: I don't think it's setting him up for success. Charles says,
- 18:40Speaker 1: do we still have an outside wide receiver problem. Bills
- 18:42Speaker 1: ran mostly one wide receiver sets in the second half
- 18:44Speaker 1: to get back in the game, not even trying to
- 18:45Speaker 1: pretend to threaten the outside numbers. I do think they
- 18:48Speaker 1: have questions a wide receiver. I don't think defenses fear
- 18:52Speaker 1: passes outside the numbers or deep. I think the Bills
- 18:54Speaker 1: are gonna have to work to do that. The Bills
- 18:56Speaker 1: again this when you look at the wide receiver position.
- 18:59Speaker 1: They're built for what this offense was last year and
- 19:02Speaker 1: going into this year, condensed formations, winning with alignment, winning
- 19:05Speaker 1: with winning with personnel, winning with formation. They're not built
- 19:09Speaker 1: to go eleven personnel or ten personnel and chuck it
- 19:11Speaker 1: thirty to forty times a game and sling it all
- 19:14Speaker 1: over the yard. They have to win with scheme and
- 19:16Speaker 1: structure and a variety of things. And then sometimes the
- 19:19Speaker 1: scheme is structure aren't where it needs to be. Sometimes
- 19:21Speaker 1: the player execution isn't there where it needs to be.
- 19:25Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't I think they have an outside
- 19:28Speaker 1: wide receiver problem if they need to chuck it all
- 19:30Speaker 1: over the field, if it's just with who they are normally,
- 19:33Speaker 1: I don't know what my camera's doing this to drive means,
- 19:35Speaker 1: saying if they are who they are normally from a
- 19:37Speaker 1: schematics perspective last year and this year, no, I think
- 19:40Speaker 1: they're fine, but they are going to have to threaten outside.
- 19:44Speaker 1: They are going to have to threaten deep. They are
- 19:46Speaker 1: going to need to back up defenses at some point,
- 19:48Speaker 1: which is really encouraging. From the first offense to play
- 19:50Speaker 1: of the game against the Falcons with that play action
- 19:52Speaker 1: deep shot to Palmer and then he goes and then
- 19:54Speaker 1: things go back. Oh good comment from Pops. Two of
- 20:00Speaker 1: Atlanta scoring drives only happened because the Bills penalties extended
- 20:04Speaker 1: the drives. Yeah. Pop's d NBA I think after the
- 20:06Speaker 1: game or today, saying that that first play of the
- 20:09Speaker 1: game with the fumble from Bijon and recover from the
- 20:11Speaker 1: Bills was kind of like the game or a huge
- 20:13Speaker 1: moment and oo crazy crazy, crazy crazy crazy ah fair
- 20:21Speaker 1: comedy here from Johnny says I heard today sometimes the
- 20:24Speaker 1: devil you know is better than the devil you don't.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Heh y, that's another euphemism for coaching changes, and you
- 20:28Speaker 1: don't know. Things could go sideways, that Bills could fire McDermott,
- 20:31Speaker 1: fire this staff and they could win a Super Bowl.
- 20:33Speaker 1: They could fire McDermott, fire the staff, and they could
- 20:36Speaker 1: go five and twelve, Like there really is maybe not
- 20:39Speaker 1: five and twelve, but it really is kind of six
- 20:41Speaker 1: and one half a dozen of the other. Like there's
- 20:43Speaker 1: equal opportunity on both sides, and firing the staff isn't
- 20:46Speaker 1: a guarantee that it finally pushes this team over the hump.
- 20:54Speaker 3: What what bum are.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Just as smart enough more so that they don't have
- 21:00Speaker 1: the coordinators to overcome the talent efficiency Andy Reid nor
- 21:03Speaker 1: Sean McVay is walking through that door. I think those
- 21:04Speaker 1: guys are also kind of not unicorns, but those are
- 21:07Speaker 1: two of the best at their position, and it's you know,
- 21:09Speaker 1: when you get one of those guys cool, but it's
- 21:12Speaker 1: tough to get one of those guys. What else william
- 21:20Speaker 1: says them my crazy for thinking the defense in the
- 21:22Speaker 1: second half was good and having some hope of the
- 21:23Speaker 1: defensive line. They blitzed more, they played more man coverage.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I do think they played better in the second half.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I still don't think it was great, but obviously better.
- 21:33Speaker 1: You know, they gave up what three points in the
- 21:35Speaker 1: second half. They're for giving up twenty one in the
- 21:37Speaker 1: first you know, we're gonna talk about it as we
- 21:40Speaker 1: go forward here, but they definitely played better in the
- 21:42Speaker 1: second half. They changed some things up. They attacked more,
- 21:45Speaker 1: they tried to take away airspace and restrict it, which
- 21:47Speaker 1: is what they should have been doing more early on.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Penalty has definitely gotten their way, and also some of
- 21:53Speaker 1: the talent perspective pieces right, like Drake London sweet p
- 21:55Speaker 1: John Robinson a suite. It's unfortunate that they really just
- 22:00Speaker 1: let those two guys house them over and over again.
- 22:03Speaker 1: But it's unfortunate, fortunate, unfortunate, unfortunate, Charles said. I expected
- 22:11Speaker 1: the defense would be a work in progress, especially with
- 22:13Speaker 1: all the injuries and suspensions. The offense came back returning
- 22:16Speaker 1: everyone and looks completely dysfunctional for long stretches. I think
- 22:21Speaker 1: that's fair. I think that's fair. Arthur says. I can
- 22:27Speaker 1: think of probably five to ten coaches I prefer to McDermott.
- 22:29Speaker 1: The problem is that they already all have NFL jobs.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Who could we realistically hire? Sarkisian Kingsbury man. I think
- 22:35Speaker 1: that's a fair point too. You know, I don't think
- 22:39Speaker 1: mcdermot's the best coach in the league, and there are
- 22:40Speaker 1: coaches that I would take ahead of Sean McDermott. But
- 22:42Speaker 1: like you said, they all have jobs. Like I'm what
- 22:46Speaker 1: I would have liked to see. I would have liked
- 22:49Speaker 1: to see a different defensive coordinator or someone who has
- 22:54Speaker 1: a different philosophy to McDermott instead of being from the
- 22:56Speaker 1: McDermott tree, the McDermott mindset. I really wanted lou Rumo
- 23:00Speaker 1: to come in. I know he got jettison from Cincinnati
- 23:04Speaker 1: and how things ended up with Cincinnati there, but I
- 23:06Speaker 1: think a lot of that was more from the roster
- 23:07Speaker 1: and injuries than it was leu Ana Rumo. I wanted
- 23:10Speaker 1: someone like that. I think they need new blood on
- 23:13Speaker 1: the defensive side from a philosophy and an identity standpoint,
- 23:16Speaker 1: and even from a roster building standpoint. But again, I
- 23:18Speaker 1: don't know how much of that is being going into
- 23:20Speaker 1: McDermott versus McDermott going into being or them kind of
- 23:22Speaker 1: feeding off of one another. I would like to see
- 23:26Speaker 1: a different I would like to see a different defensive
- 23:29Speaker 1: mind running the defense or injecting some more influence into
- 23:34Speaker 1: the defense, I should say. But to your point, yet,
- 23:36Speaker 1: there there there are a good handful of coaches that
- 23:38Speaker 1: I would take over McDermott, but they all have jobs
- 23:40Speaker 1: already and they're not going anywhere. Joe, what's up, Joe?
- 23:47Speaker 1: Joe Say's nothing wrong with a modest year for a
- 23:49Speaker 1: project receiver. But I feel like they still have him
- 23:51Speaker 1: boxed into an X role he shouldn't be, and that's fair,
- 23:55Speaker 1: you know. I goes to the powerslock conversation. But then
- 23:59Speaker 1: what's tough with that is like you have Shakir who
- 24:01Speaker 1: lives in the slot, so then you have to get
- 24:02Speaker 1: Coleman eating into some of Shakers reps. But then you're
- 24:05Speaker 1: also kind of eating into some of the formation and
- 24:08Speaker 1: alignment stuff you do. It's all just they needed an X,
- 24:11Speaker 1: they needed a boundary guy. They needed a guy on
- 24:14Speaker 1: the outside, and they thought that guy was Coleman. I
- 24:17Speaker 1: think that's the same reason why they didn't draft LADB MacConkey.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I think it's potentially the reason why they passed on
- 24:21Speaker 1: the Xavier Worthy. It's just you can do that, but
- 24:27Speaker 1: then you have to give that guy time to grow
- 24:29Speaker 1: and time to develop as an organization and as a
- 24:32Speaker 1: fan base. I think it's again they are lacking a
- 24:35Speaker 1: bit at wide receiver for most and so he needs
- 24:38Speaker 1: to contribute more than he would as a project wide receiver.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Maybe on other teams. Remy says, they need to stop
- 24:45Speaker 1: drafting projects and just find superstars. Absolutely, but I think
- 24:48Speaker 1: it's a lot easier set than done. I think you
- 24:50Speaker 1: can say that for every team in the league. Yeah, frustrating, frustrating, frustrating,
- 24:56Speaker 1: Oh cecil, this is a good just mentioned real quicker.
- 24:58Speaker 1: He says, what was frustrating was all the fans Alkins
- 25:00Speaker 1: blitz his fifty six percent of the time, and yet
- 25:01Speaker 1: we threw very few running back screens. They are not
- 25:04Speaker 1: a good running back screen team. A lot of it
- 25:06Speaker 1: is Josh Allen. The It's two things. One, usually when
- 25:10Speaker 1: teams attack Allen, they still kind of sit back a
- 25:12Speaker 1: little bit as they come forward because they know that
- 25:14Speaker 1: he could maybe step through or run by them, and
- 25:16Speaker 1: so you're kind of coming up with urgency but also
- 25:18Speaker 1: playing with a little bit of control. Also, Allen is
- 25:22Speaker 1: just not a good running back screen thrower. I don't
- 25:25Speaker 1: know if it's the arm angles or the trajectory, or
- 25:27Speaker 1: the timing or the tempo of it. He's not good
- 25:30Speaker 1: at screens. He hasn't been since he was a rookie.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think a lot of the failures with running back
- 25:34Speaker 1: screens are due to Alan just not being good at those,
- 25:37Speaker 1: And that might seem like a like a weird thing
- 25:39Speaker 1: to say he's just not good at them again, And
- 25:42Speaker 1: if I got to pick something for a dude not
- 25:43Speaker 1: gonna be good at I would probably pick with that.
- 25:46Speaker 1: But year after year, different coordinators, different schemes, moments they
- 25:51Speaker 1: you know, the screen game doesn't go, and I think
- 25:52Speaker 1: a lot of it comes down to Allen just not
- 25:53Speaker 1: being good at them. Nick, What's up? Nick? Nick says
- 25:58Speaker 1: Trey is getting the Dane Jackson tree major scapegoating and
- 26:01Speaker 1: going out with the fans, even though he played fine
- 26:03Speaker 1: and was a bright spot at times. I second this
- 26:05Speaker 1: to a degree. I don't think Trey has been I
- 26:07Speaker 1: don't think Tray has been good. I don't think Tray
- 26:09Speaker 1: has been as bad as a lot of people are
- 26:11Speaker 1: making it out to be. And I do think he's
- 26:12Speaker 1: getting blamed for things that aren't necessarily his fault, and
- 26:15Speaker 1: when he does make good plays, they're completely getting overlooked
- 26:17Speaker 1: and glossed over. I don't think he's been good. Put
- 26:20Speaker 1: it out there like, he hasn't been locked down, has
- 26:22Speaker 1: been he hasn't been a true CB two. I don't
- 26:24Speaker 1: think he's as bad as everybody's kind of making it
- 26:26Speaker 1: out to me. M Lauren says, whoa, whoa, whoa. I
- 26:34Speaker 1: know it's been a few weeks since I've been in here,
- 26:35Speaker 1: but where are the bookshels Glad to see the tree
- 26:37Speaker 1: is still there though we moved, and so it just
- 26:39Speaker 1: happened this weekend. So I'm in the process of getting
- 26:41Speaker 1: everything back in order in the new place, and I
- 26:44Speaker 1: just haven't gotten there yet. Appreciate you noticing the attention
- 26:47Speaker 1: to detail. Yeah, made sure the tree was there, and
- 26:50Speaker 1: then added this little adorable cat and this Jack o'
- 26:53Speaker 1: landern kind of take away from things. Next week there
- 26:55Speaker 1: will be more things behind me, hopefully finished and furnished,
- 26:58Speaker 1: and potentially a week after good.
- 27:00Speaker 3: More going through seeing comments, comments, comments, comments comments.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Arthur says, many people you included me, spent the offseason
- 27:16Speaker 1: saying they wouldn't judge the defense till after Hoyt was ready.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I'm curious what the defensive scheme looks like over the
- 27:21Speaker 1: next three four games. Excellent point, that is, despite my frustrations.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I am in injuries too, and this is going to
- 27:30Speaker 1: be one of the main points I lead off with
- 27:31Speaker 1: in a bit after we finished getting through the chat
- 27:33Speaker 1: here to start, I am kind of playing Devil's advocate
- 27:37Speaker 1: and saying, like, Okay, let's see what they look like
- 27:38Speaker 1: when they're whole. Let's see what they look like with
- 27:41Speaker 1: Ed Oliver Beck and Michael Hoyt and Larry Ogunjobi and
- 27:45Speaker 1: t J. Sanders and the whole cast of dudes up there, right,
- 27:48Speaker 1: Let's see what they look like when they don't have
- 27:50Speaker 1: to rely on depth guys or guys on the practice
- 27:54Speaker 1: squad like Jordan Phillips should not be playing in an
- 27:56Speaker 1: NFL game right now, that that should not happen, but
- 27:59Speaker 1: he had to play major snaps the past couple of weeks,
- 28:01Speaker 1: and especially last night with Dayekwon Jones going down in
- 28:05Speaker 1: warm ups, So I am kind of keeping that in
- 28:08Speaker 1: the back of my mind. I would like to see
- 28:10Speaker 1: what they look like in their final form in theory,
- 28:12Speaker 1: and I do think hoy opens up a lot of
- 28:14Speaker 1: schematics for them. I think what's more worrisome is Michael
- 28:19Speaker 1: hoy coming into the picture and Ed Oliver coming back
- 28:22Speaker 1: and ogun Jobey coming back, even though I think ogun
- 28:25Speaker 1: Jobey's gonna have some issues defending the run and that's
- 28:28Speaker 1: not gonna help the interior. The guys returning up front
- 28:31Speaker 1: should help the front. It's not going to help them
- 28:34Speaker 1: with space and coverage, although maybe it dictates some of
- 28:36Speaker 1: the different coverages they play and allows them to kind
- 28:38Speaker 1: of marry things a little bit better. But their run defense,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think, is still going to be an issue the
- 28:42Speaker 1: way they're built from a roster perspective, and the spine
- 28:45Speaker 1: is still going to be an issue. They're mistackling is
- 28:47Speaker 1: still going to be an issue. The safety play is
- 28:48Speaker 1: still going to be an issue. So I am holding
- 28:51Speaker 1: out before giving final reservation or resolution. I don't know
- 28:55Speaker 1: where I was going for there until I give final
- 28:57Speaker 1: kind of thoughts there, But I am frustrated. I am frustrated.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Fair point from Swin who says letting opposing team score
- 29:10Speaker 1: twenty three and twenty four of the last two games,
- 29:11Speaker 1: I would have signed up for that. That's fair. Joey says,
- 29:14Speaker 1: if you could make one move, what would you do?
- 29:16Speaker 1: Oh like anything or does it have to be realistic?
- 29:20Speaker 1: If it's anything, I'm gonna keep it. I'm gonna keep
- 29:23Speaker 1: it in terms of anything, but also somewhat realistic. I'm
- 29:25Speaker 1: getting Jeffrey Simmons from the Titans. That's what I'm doing.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That's what I'm doing. Thank you. Ben. Ben says, I
- 29:35Speaker 1: was reserving judgment. Thank you, thank you so much. I
- 29:38Speaker 1: was falling apart. It's falling apart. I was falling apart.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Um bum bum bum. Jason says, did you move because
- 29:48Speaker 1: of the motorcycle noise? Uh no, but that's funny. I
- 29:52Speaker 1: should I'm not even gonna say it and jinx it.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But where we are now it is extremely peaceful and
- 29:58Speaker 1: extremely quiet. That is super fuddy well done. Well that Jason,
- 30:02Speaker 1: did you That's really good. That's really good. Oh that's funny. Hmm.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Remy says it must be problem with the strength and
- 30:11Speaker 1: conditioning program. It isn't just recently, it's every year. What
- 30:14Speaker 1: we're made of glass, what can be done? You know
- 30:15Speaker 1: what's funny is they were one of the least injured
- 30:17Speaker 1: teams several years ago, and now the last couple it's
- 30:20Speaker 1: really kind of caught up to them a little bit.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I think it's really just the type of injuries they get.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Sometimes it's it's the dudes they get. Sometimes guys are
- 30:27Speaker 1: just prone to certain injuries. I don't necessarily think it's
- 30:30Speaker 1: something in the water. I think a lot of times
- 30:32Speaker 1: injuries are just kind of unfortunate, unless you're like a
- 30:35Speaker 1: team that plays on bad ur for bad field like
- 30:37Speaker 1: the Niners did for the past several years, and everybody
- 30:39Speaker 1: was getting hurt at the games that Levi or dudes
- 30:41Speaker 1: getting hurt at the met Life field or the Lions field.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Stuff like that. Nice Joe, I see your comment there
- 30:50Speaker 1: about the backgrounds. That's funny. Mm hmmmm. Is a good
- 30:56Speaker 1: for Bill too? A betch of the motorcycles? I like that.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I like that. I like that. Oh, Kebby, do you
- 31:01Speaker 1: think the Bills make any moves for the deadline? If so,
- 31:03Speaker 1: which one. I always just don't expect any moves at
- 31:07Speaker 1: the deadline now because I don't think the Bills don't
- 31:09Speaker 1: want to make moves. It's just hard to make trades
- 31:13Speaker 1: in the NFL because a lot of times it's player
- 31:15Speaker 1: for player and that's tough. Like you don't see a
- 31:18Speaker 1: lot of those deals. In general. I think it's tough
- 31:21Speaker 1: to make deadline deals in the NFL, especially with you
- 31:23Speaker 1: more wildcard spots and teams thinking that they're still in
- 31:26Speaker 1: the hunt and kind of tying into Joey's thing I
- 31:30Speaker 1: would love. I would love Jeffrey Simmons. I would love
- 31:35Speaker 1: a safety to replace Taylor Rapp. If Max Harriston is
- 31:39Speaker 1: done for the year, I'd love to get a corner two.
- 31:45Speaker 1: But then you're you're probably looking for a corner too
- 31:47Speaker 1: that's on like a one year deal, because again, ideally
- 31:50Speaker 1: you want Max Harriston to start next year. So and
- 31:52Speaker 1: then also, is that corner going to be happy here,
- 31:54Speaker 1: you know, if they're trying to prove themselves and get
- 31:56Speaker 1: a larger contract next year or an extended deal with
- 31:58Speaker 1: someone else. So I think corners a little murky for a deal.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I'd love to get a safety. I would love to
- 32:03Speaker 1: get a defensive tackle. I'd love to get a wide receiver.
- 32:05Speaker 1: I'm kind of in the boat, you know, from a
- 32:07Speaker 1: contract standpoint. You know, I'll take Rislave, I'll take Rahid
- 32:10Speaker 1: Shahid from New Orleans. But I haven't really started diving
- 32:15Speaker 1: into guys that are available yet, just because it's just
- 32:18Speaker 1: hard to anticipate moves. They always come down to the
- 32:21Speaker 1: wire and not a lot of deals happen. So if
- 32:24Speaker 1: I had to bet, I don't think they'd make any
- 32:27Speaker 1: but I would like to see something at defensive tackle,
- 32:29Speaker 1: corner a wide receiver, though I think corner is the
- 32:31Speaker 1: least likely. Cecil says, I am more worried about the
- 32:37Speaker 1: back seven than the d line. Walker is coming along. Yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: Dean Walker is coming along. I do think Dion Walker
- 32:44Speaker 1: is getting his play. I do think is the flashes
- 32:47Speaker 1: are glossing over a lot of the work in progress
- 32:50Speaker 1: that he's having. I think he's ahead of schedule for
- 32:53Speaker 1: what I thought. He surpassed my expectations for this year.
- 32:55Speaker 1: But it's funny watching It's funny to put out clips
- 33:01Speaker 1: and watch him get blown up or just displaced and
- 33:04Speaker 1: no one comments on it. Like I'm putting it out
- 33:07Speaker 1: clips and showing like the Bills run defense just getting
- 33:10Speaker 1: gashed and he's getting blown off the ball and there's
- 33:12Speaker 1: no comment. And I do think a lot of his
- 33:14Speaker 1: struggles are being glossed over because of the flashes. His
- 33:18Speaker 1: flashes have been very good and are very encouraging. I
- 33:21Speaker 1: don't think he's this lockdown stud dude who's arrived. A
- 33:24Speaker 1: lot of the hyperbolic statements that are being made about him.
- 33:27Speaker 1: But to your point, yes, I do think he is
- 33:29Speaker 1: coming along. I would love to see him in a
- 33:31Speaker 1: rotation with Ed and Dai Kwon and Sanders and Ogun
- 33:35Speaker 1: Joby and kind of go from there. That would be nice.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Heay Morris is Miles Scaret is in realistic? Oh? Because
- 33:42Speaker 1: Claude said Simmons over Miles Garret. Yeah, there's no way
- 33:43Speaker 1: they're getting Miles Garrett. I would love that, though, bats
- 33:46Speaker 1: He says, not only tuned for motorcycle noises. I like that.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Andy said, would Xavier Woods from the Titans be a
- 33:52Speaker 1: fit for us? I have not watched any Titans tape
- 33:54Speaker 1: this year from the defensive side, so I cannot speak
- 33:58Speaker 1: to that, and I'm not going to speak off of
- 33:59Speaker 1: Jannia statements or off of others' work, so I don't know.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Comments on YEP linebacker safety safety Tristan says, do you
- 34:12Speaker 1: think Rahishi heat would open up the offense? I do.
- 34:14Speaker 1: The only thing that would be tough is because he's
- 34:17Speaker 1: not going to be the top of the depth chart guy.
- 34:18Speaker 1: He's going to be more like a wide receiver three,
- 34:20Speaker 1: wide receiver four type. When you put him on the field,
- 34:24Speaker 1: it might be a tendency giveaway. If you're putting him
- 34:26Speaker 1: on the field, it's probably because you want to send
- 34:28Speaker 1: him deep and then defenses are going to be like, okay,
- 34:30Speaker 1: odds are he's probably going deep, and then they'll counteract
- 34:33Speaker 1: for that a little bit. That's why a couple of
- 34:34Speaker 1: weeks ago I mentioned you need speed, but more towards
- 34:37Speaker 1: the top of the depth chart, you need it and
- 34:38Speaker 1: built into your wide receiver one and wide receiver two,
- 34:41Speaker 1: so that way, it's not necessarily a tendency giveaway. It's
- 34:44Speaker 1: they could be blocking, they could be running deep, they
- 34:48Speaker 1: could be running over, they could be running a variety
- 34:50Speaker 1: of routes instead of necessarily kind of it being a
- 34:52Speaker 1: schematic or a tendency giveaway. Tanked just aid whom amongst
- 35:02Speaker 1: the bills. D Line doesn't get blown off the ball
- 35:05Speaker 1: h Rousseau at Oliver, especially for being smaller. Daikwon Jones
- 35:14Speaker 1: doesn't get moved too much. I think a Jpanessa holds
- 35:19Speaker 1: his own, and I think Bosa holds his own. I'm
- 35:25Speaker 1: trying to make sure I don't miss anyone else. It's
- 35:27Speaker 1: really in the spine more than anything, and some dudes
- 35:30Speaker 1: at the second level as well, which is unfortunate. Dave
- 35:34Speaker 1: says at this point, just add talent and speed. I'm
- 35:36Speaker 1: open to most moves. I think that's fair. Jose Sis,
- 35:42Speaker 1: do you think Palmer can consistently beat man coverage in
- 35:44Speaker 1: the event we don't trade for new wide receiver. Yes,
- 35:48Speaker 1: I just think he can beat more man coverage, more
- 35:50Speaker 1: in the underneath in the intermediate, more so than as
- 35:52Speaker 1: a deep threat or as a burner. But yes, I
- 35:55Speaker 1: think he can separate against man and the underneath in
- 35:57Speaker 1: the intermediate. Swin says, I'm speculating, but Josh seems bored
- 36:01Speaker 1: of the offense and is itching for more big time throws.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You know what's funny is I don't. It's hard to tell.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Again you even mentioned you're speculating. I feel like Josh
- 36:14Speaker 1: corrected himself so much to playing efficient and taking what
- 36:17Speaker 1: the defense gives him that he's almost kind of like
- 36:21Speaker 1: rewired his brain to not take the deep shots. And
- 36:24Speaker 1: I think that's part of kind of the whole big
- 36:26Speaker 1: time throw thing, are the deep shots of them. So
- 36:28Speaker 1: that's what you mean by big time throws. I think
- 36:31Speaker 1: it's a little bit of Allen really drilling down on
- 36:34Speaker 1: being efficient. I think a little bit of it is
- 36:37Speaker 1: Brady's offense, and I think a little bit of it
- 36:39Speaker 1: is not necessarily having true deep threats or burners and
- 36:41Speaker 1: that to those type of guys. But yeah, I think
- 36:46Speaker 1: he made such a concerted effort to be more efficient
- 36:49Speaker 1: and take what the defense gave him and not go
- 36:51Speaker 1: for blood every single throw like he used to. I
- 36:54Speaker 1: think when you make that much of a concerted effort,
- 36:57Speaker 1: I think it changed the way he played a little
- 36:58Speaker 1: bit and one in an MVP lash. So kudos to
- 37:00Speaker 1: him and to the Bills offense. But I think he
- 37:03Speaker 1: does have to I think he has to force the
- 37:06Speaker 1: issue a little more. I think he has to be told, like, hey,
- 37:09Speaker 1: take the shot. Look for the shot, more so than Oh,
- 37:13Speaker 1: the shot might be there, that's cool. I'm just gonna
- 37:15Speaker 1: dump it down for six or seven yards on first down,
- 37:19Speaker 1: which isn't terrible. But yeah, I think he's kind of
- 37:22Speaker 1: rewired his brain a little bit there. But that's a
- 37:23Speaker 1: fair Commentum this is it good for Braf who says
- 37:31Speaker 1: how many Panthers will be on the Bills playing back
- 37:33Speaker 1: to Buffalo after their next game? O oh, question here?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Do we have a speedy wide receiver on the practice squad?
- 37:40Speaker 1: Not that I would necessarily inject into the lineup regularly.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And then penny for your thoughts that Sam Franklin is
- 37:45Speaker 1: a safety like him as a special teamer. I haven't
- 37:47Speaker 1: watched the safety tape. I would be more open to
- 37:50Speaker 1: Jordan Hancock getting an opportunity than Franklin at this point. Also,
- 37:54Speaker 1: very very very small sample size, Jordan Poyer moved a
- 37:58Speaker 1: lot better last night than I thought he did all
- 38:00Speaker 1: of last year in Miami. That's also an option. I
- 38:04Speaker 1: don't love that option. I thought he was losing his
- 38:07Speaker 1: legs his last year in Buffalo, and then he looked
- 38:09Speaker 1: worse last year. But he looked better than I thought.
- 38:11Speaker 1: From a movement standpoint and from a reading the game,
- 38:14Speaker 1: an understanding standpoint, he's the best guy they have back there.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Safety's really worrisome. We're going to get into it. We're
- 38:23Speaker 1: going to get into it. I'm worried. Bill says, what
- 38:28Speaker 1: would you think about a five wide spread, fully across
- 38:30Speaker 1: the field short yardage alignment where the defense can only
- 38:32Speaker 1: put six in the box. Josh could just pick a
- 38:34Speaker 1: spot like Tom Brady used to remarkably, well, you could
- 38:37Speaker 1: work that. I would also take some more design. Josh
- 38:39Speaker 1: Allen runs off that get him in some QB, draw
- 38:41Speaker 1: some sneaks or not sneaks, but QB draws some QB power,
- 38:47Speaker 1: some readoption stuff. I really think they got to start
- 38:48Speaker 1: to dip into the bag a little bit. Not necessarily
- 38:50Speaker 1: now because it's only going to be week eight when
- 38:52Speaker 1: they start playing again, but start to dip into that
- 38:54Speaker 1: come December in January. All right, really good thoughts from
- 39:01Speaker 1: the chat. As you have more things, keep putting it
- 39:03Speaker 1: up into the comments here. Oh, actually, there's something I
- 39:05Speaker 1: wanted to get to. Somebody asked me about the schedule
- 39:11Speaker 1: and who I realistically thought the over under? Ah, there
- 39:14Speaker 1: it is. If you look at the rest of our schedule,
- 39:16Speaker 1: what's you're over under four wins? You know what's funny
- 39:20Speaker 1: is I'm always terrible with what the schedule is, but
- 39:22Speaker 1: I always think this is fun I feel like people
- 39:24Speaker 1: in the chat like doing this too. Realistically, So you've
- 39:28Speaker 1: got Carolina. I hate doing this because I'm superstitious, but
- 39:32Speaker 1: you've got Carolina, Kansas City, Miami, Tampa, Houston, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati,
- 39:37Speaker 1: New England, Cleveland, Philly, New York. I'm not gonna say
- 39:40Speaker 1: these things out loud because I'm too superstitious. Realistically, I
- 39:44Speaker 1: think they should have another one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I think they realistically, at a minimum, should have another
- 39:58Speaker 1: seven wins. I think you could make make the case
- 40:00Speaker 1: that they could get to NINEI ish or ten. I
- 40:04Speaker 1: think Kansas City is a toss up. I think Tampa
- 40:06Speaker 1: Bay is a toss up. I think they should beat Houston,
- 40:09Speaker 1: but that might be a little tougher than their record indicates.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Come November. Pittsburgh they should beat, but it could be
- 40:16Speaker 1: Wonky and then Philly. I think it's a fair toss
- 40:19Speaker 1: up to superstitious to make any other comments about that,
- 40:23Speaker 1: but I like that. Okay, Moist's deposits are giving it away. No,
- 40:28Speaker 1: well kinda yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Hold on, No,
- 40:31Speaker 1: I did not Nick says guy's aunt just said he
- 40:33Speaker 1: wants player starting a safety I did not say that.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I said he looked better than I thought he would
- 40:38Speaker 1: last night against the Falcons. Also, I don't really love
- 40:41Speaker 1: any of their safety combinations. That's just kind of where
- 40:43Speaker 1: I'm at right now. Their angles from depth. It's I'm
- 40:46Speaker 1: frustrated with safety. I don't even really want to talk
- 40:47Speaker 1: about it. It's one of my points here tonight, but
- 40:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk about it. I guess all right, let's start.
- 40:54Speaker 1: So Bill's bye week, checklist, fixes and focus. The first
- 40:59Speaker 1: I did not say I want Jordan Poyer's safety. I
- 41:01Speaker 1: said he looked better than I thought, and I said
- 41:02Speaker 1: he's their best combination of guy who can move a
- 41:05Speaker 1: little bit and knows the defense and the system. But
- 41:09Speaker 1: fair all right, yeah I know, but people don't know.
- 41:13Speaker 1: So people could join this show right now and see
- 41:17Speaker 1: your comment and be like oh, and says he's all
- 41:19Speaker 1: about like Jordan Poyer. Okay, this just jumping it out
- 41:24Speaker 1: of This is the new, This is the new, This
- 41:26Speaker 1: is the new. Motorcycle driving by. I like this a lot.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I like this a lot. Oh, hold on, I'm gonna
- 41:34Speaker 1: start to go over things. Oh, Rebbie says, thank you
- 41:38Speaker 1: for answering our questions. Amazing, you're staying so calm. I'm
- 41:41Speaker 1: always super calm with this. Really it takes a lot.
- 41:43Speaker 1: I also too, I'm obviously a Bills fan. I'm a
- 41:46Speaker 1: football fan more so than I'm a Bills fan, and
- 41:50Speaker 1: so I'm still able to appreciate things from a schematic perspective,
- 41:52Speaker 1: good or bad. And then also, honestly, a lot of
- 41:57Speaker 1: me died with thirteen seconds. I grew up through the
- 42:02Speaker 1: drought like a lot of us, and I thought it
- 42:06Speaker 1: would take a lot to kind of break me, and
- 42:09Speaker 1: not that it completely broke me thirteen seconds. Really, I
- 42:14Speaker 1: thought they had it. I thought that was like the
- 42:16Speaker 1: greatest game ever. I was all into it, and then
- 42:20Speaker 1: out of nowhere, the rug got pulled on under me,
- 42:22Speaker 1: and I didn't think like and I grew up having
- 42:26Speaker 1: the rug pulled out from under me, right, Like I
- 42:28Speaker 1: you know, the Music City Miracle and everything we know, right,
- 42:32Speaker 1: the Music City Miracle, that stupid game against the Steelers'
- 42:34Speaker 1: backups when like an unknown Willie Parker and then Tommy
- 42:38Speaker 1: Maddox beat the Bills in the last regular season game
- 42:40Speaker 1: at home where if the Bills would have won, they
- 42:42Speaker 1: would have gone to the playoffs. I wasn't really around
- 42:45Speaker 1: for wide, right, But I obviously I knew the four
- 42:47Speaker 1: straight Super Bowls all these things, so I didn't really
- 42:50Speaker 1: think it was possible for the rug to get pulled
- 42:51Speaker 1: out from under me because I just always expected that
- 42:54Speaker 1: to happen. Thirteen seconds kind of broke me. Yeah, as
- 42:59Speaker 1: like a so, I it's hard for me to get
- 43:01Speaker 1: like that emotionally invested ever again, because they have a
- 43:05Speaker 1: part of me died that day. Oh good, times, good times. Yeah, man,
- 43:12Speaker 1: it's tough and then especially too, like me being a
- 43:14Speaker 1: Red Sox fan, like growing up as a Red Sox
- 43:15Speaker 1: fan and a Bills fan. Oh man, it was brutal.
- 43:19Speaker 1: And I've been lucky that the Red Sox have four
- 43:20Speaker 1: World Series in my lifetime. Anthony says, I still wake
- 43:25Speaker 1: up put the cold sweats thirteen seconds. Yeah, man, not great,
- 43:29Speaker 1: not great, not great, yeah the yeah, thirteen seconds. A
- 43:34Speaker 1: little part or a big part of me died that day.
- 43:38Speaker 1: And I'm always so superstitious, Like you guys know that,
- 43:42Speaker 1: and girls know that, I'm very superstitious. I never and
- 43:45Speaker 1: I remember my wife saying like, oh my god, they're
- 43:47Speaker 1: gonna win. And I was like, you can't say that.
- 43:48Speaker 1: You never know what could happen. But I remember in
- 43:50Speaker 1: the back of my mind, I was like, yeah, they
- 43:52Speaker 1: probably got that squid this kick or kick it short,
- 43:55Speaker 1: let them bleed the clock. I know, Butcker has a
- 43:56Speaker 1: leg and Mahomes has an arm. But they should be good.
- 43:59Speaker 1: They should be good here. I really I believed it,
- 44:01Speaker 1: and I never let myself believe like that. And yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 1: then they played seventy five yards deep and the Chiefs
- 44:09Speaker 1: moved the ball and moved like fifty yards and a
- 44:11Speaker 1: blink in the blink of an eye, and we lost them,
- 44:14Speaker 1: and I cried and I died inside good times all
- 44:17Speaker 1: right by week checklists faces and focuses as we all
- 44:21Speaker 1: get said and go down a memory lane that we
- 44:23Speaker 1: don't want to go to. Oh, JJ says, I was
- 44:26Speaker 1: there since wide right, yeah, man, And I again for
- 44:29Speaker 1: a lot of us too, who have family members who
- 44:31Speaker 1: grew up and building like as Bills fans are in Buffalo,
- 44:33Speaker 1: Like I grew up around all the adults talking about
- 44:36Speaker 1: the Super Bowl years, like guys who went to Vietnam
- 44:39Speaker 1: and war stories, and my uncles and aunts and grandparents
- 44:42Speaker 1: all talking about like, oh, I was there for so
- 44:44Speaker 1: and so, and all my family's from Buffalo. So I
- 44:46Speaker 1: got family talking about seeing Jack Emp and seeing the
- 44:49Speaker 1: AFL Bills, and then everybody talking about what they started
- 44:52Speaker 1: to see in the eighties and then the nineties Bills
- 44:54Speaker 1: and family had season tickets for forever, and yeah, it's
- 44:58Speaker 1: all builds and builds, and so you understand and the
- 45:01Speaker 1: pain that comes with being a Bills fan and comes
- 45:03Speaker 1: with being in the city. And I didn't think that
- 45:06Speaker 1: I could be broken in thirteen seconds oh, Bob says,
- 45:09Speaker 1: I lived through the O for seventies. Versus Miami, he says,
- 45:13Speaker 1: spare me, that's fair, man, that's rough. I just want one.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Just give me one super Bowl. That's it. I don't
- 45:19Speaker 1: care if they don't need to be a dynasty. Just
- 45:21Speaker 1: give me one. I just want one. First piece I
- 45:26Speaker 1: want to talk about here where it comes with the
- 45:28Speaker 1: bye week, checklist, fixes and focus. I do want to
- 45:32Speaker 1: mention the cabin I mentioned it earlier. The injuries I
- 45:34Speaker 1: do think have played a big role in addition to
- 45:37Speaker 1: kind of the guys being suspended and being off this team,
- 45:42Speaker 1: and not just to kind of give them an out
- 45:43Speaker 1: or give them an excuse. But when you are a
- 45:46Speaker 1: team that isn't loaded with elite talent, I don't think
- 45:49Speaker 1: this is a bad team. Obviously they're not a bad team.
- 45:52Speaker 1: They were multitude of people's Super Bowl picks. They have
- 45:55Speaker 1: great Super Bowl odds. They still do. I still think
- 45:57Speaker 1: they'll write the ship and largely be fine. But when
- 46:00Speaker 1: you're a team that doesn't necessarily have the talent advantage
- 46:03Speaker 1: week in and week out, and doesn't necessarily have stars
- 46:06Speaker 1: or studs at a multitude of spots or even premium positions.
- 46:10Speaker 1: When you're a team that's built more on depth and
- 46:13Speaker 1: having good football players. If you have multiple good football
- 46:16Speaker 1: players out, everything starts to become more noticeable because you
- 46:20Speaker 1: don't have the top end talent that's able to mitigate
- 46:22Speaker 1: that loss and able to kind of, you know, pull
- 46:25Speaker 1: everybody up by their bootstraps a little bit and kind
- 46:27Speaker 1: of make things happen. So when you've got again all
- 46:30Speaker 1: the injuries and the suspension, so you've got Wayde out,
- 46:34Speaker 1: You've got Ogan Jobe out, You've got Daikwon Jones out,
- 46:37Speaker 1: You've got TJ. Sanders out, You've got Matt Malano out,
- 46:39Speaker 1: You've got Dalton Kinkaid out, You've got Josh Palmer out,
- 46:43Speaker 1: You've got you know, even Curtis Samuel, Like, you've got
- 46:47Speaker 1: all these guys who are out. I do think that
- 46:49Speaker 1: impacts that would impact the picture for anybody. When you
- 46:51Speaker 1: have a multitude of starters or top of the depth
- 46:54Speaker 1: chart players who are out, that's going to you know,
- 46:57Speaker 1: influence anybody. You know, Harston is a good one too,
- 46:59Speaker 1: then and Strong goes down. So your outside corner depth
- 47:02Speaker 1: is being tested in all these forms and fashion. So
- 47:06Speaker 1: I do think there are questions to be had when
- 47:09Speaker 1: it comes to what will this team look like if
- 47:11Speaker 1: they're in full form and in their final form. So
- 47:14Speaker 1: I will say, with everything, you know, kind of coming
- 47:16Speaker 1: out of the bye week, let's see what they look
- 47:18Speaker 1: like from with the suspension, guys coming back, maybe guys
- 47:21Speaker 1: coming back from injury, and kind of putting that into
- 47:24Speaker 1: perspective for everything here. Again, I'm not giving them a pass.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I'm not saying, you know, everything is fine because your
- 47:29Speaker 1: guys were injury, but yeah, they injuries definitely play a
- 47:35Speaker 1: role here and it affects the sample size and the variables.
- 47:38Speaker 1: The next piece I want to talk about the zone
- 47:43Speaker 1: coverage for this Bills team. The metrics don't really weigh
- 47:46Speaker 1: it out, which is understandable to a degree given you
- 47:50Speaker 1: know some of the teams they played in the success
- 47:51Speaker 1: that they've had. But when they go with zone coverage,
- 47:54Speaker 1: a lot of their zone coverage this year, and it
- 47:56Speaker 1: was evident early on in the Atlanta game, a lot
- 47:59Speaker 1: of it is just spot drop zone coverage. And when
- 48:02Speaker 1: I say spot drop zone coverage, what I mean there
- 48:05Speaker 1: is you're kind of like kind of like Madden coverages
- 48:09Speaker 1: where you're just okay, you're supposed to get to ten
- 48:11Speaker 1: or twelve yards. You know at this spot you turn around,
- 48:14Speaker 1: hitch up, or you know your eyes around the quarterback.
- 48:16Speaker 1: You need to drop, get your spot, look at the quarterback.
- 48:18Speaker 1: You see a lot of times where guys in this
- 48:20Speaker 1: defense are just essentially kind of covering grass. They need
- 48:24Speaker 1: more man coverage, as Lewis Riddick said ninety five times
- 48:27Speaker 1: last night on the broadcast naven through the loss, he
- 48:29Speaker 1: said it too, I would like to see more man coverage,
- 48:31Speaker 1: but they don't necessarily have the horses for that, considering
- 48:34Speaker 1: you know, Trey is going to struggle with certain matchups.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Now that being said, I do think Trey held up
- 48:41Speaker 1: better last night than he got credit for. You know,
- 48:44Speaker 1: him against Kyle Pitts should have been an easy mismatch
- 48:46Speaker 1: for Pits every day, and Trey kind of held his
- 48:49Speaker 1: own a bit with Pitts. I thought it was a
- 48:50Speaker 1: really soft pass interference call they called on him. I
- 48:53Speaker 1: thought Pits made contact with him and they should just
- 48:55Speaker 1: let that rock, especially considering a j. Terrell. Then he
- 48:57Speaker 1: get called for something later similar against Kean Coleman. And
- 49:00Speaker 1: also I love Ajhrel. He's awesome, but I don't think
- 49:04Speaker 1: necessarily have the dudes to play man, but they need
- 49:06Speaker 1: to work in more man principles, and for me, that
- 49:10Speaker 1: means more match coverage, more rules based coverages. They just
- 49:13Speaker 1: cannot continue to play spot drop zone. They are getting
- 49:16Speaker 1: shredded and getting eaten alive with it, especially in the
- 49:20Speaker 1: second level. Tying into that, rel Bernhard has been rough
- 49:25Speaker 1: this year. He's getting blown up against the run, He's
- 49:30Speaker 1: getting put on his butt, he's not getting off blocks,
- 49:32Speaker 1: he's not beaten blocks. He's still shooting some gaps every
- 49:35Speaker 1: now and again, but not at the rate that he
- 49:37Speaker 1: normally does or we tend to see him do. I
- 49:40Speaker 1: wonder again, Well, now we know that he's hurt because
- 49:43Speaker 1: of him leaving the game last night, but just kind
- 49:47Speaker 1: of leading into every game this year just didn't look
- 49:49Speaker 1: like he was one hundred percent healthy. I don't know
- 49:51Speaker 1: if that's to blame for his movement and coverage, but
- 49:55Speaker 1: he just does not look good in space, doesn't really
- 49:57Speaker 1: look good in coverage. I know he had that great
- 49:58Speaker 1: interception against Miami, but he has not looked good kind
- 50:01Speaker 1: of dropping deeper into coverage, his depth has been questionable,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and also his awareness just seems off. There's a route
- 50:07Speaker 1: last night I was talking to Kendall Mursky about this
- 50:10Speaker 1: friend of the show Kendall Mursky where Drake London runs
- 50:16Speaker 1: an inbreaker and one of their receivers runs vertical and
- 50:19Speaker 1: I forget what the coverage is, but Bernard it's play action.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Bernard comes up onto the play action that he turns
- 50:25Speaker 1: around and he sees the number one receiver going vertical,
- 50:29Speaker 1: so he's gone, and then he looks at Drake London
- 50:33Speaker 1: and then he turns completely around, looks back at Penix,
- 50:37Speaker 1: gives us back to London, loses fight to London, and
- 50:41Speaker 1: Penix just fires it in there. For me, I want
- 50:43Speaker 1: to see him locate London and attached to him, match him,
- 50:48Speaker 1: get on him, especially in that instance where there's no
- 50:50Speaker 1: other eligibles to that side. There's no one underneath. Even
- 50:54Speaker 1: from a spot drop standpoint, you should be just getting
- 50:57Speaker 1: to London. You don't have any threats underneath. You don't
- 50:59Speaker 1: have any threat behind you. The other receiver, the number one,
- 51:02Speaker 1: because he came in London, came inside and became the two.
- 51:06Speaker 1: The other receiver's gone. He took the top off and
- 51:08Speaker 1: Bishop and Benford both took him. So you don't have
- 51:11Speaker 1: anything else, just just pick up London and for some
- 51:14Speaker 1: reason he turns around, lets him get by. It's a
- 51:16Speaker 1: huge completion. He did that a couple times last night.
- 51:19Speaker 1: And then in his movement he looks stiff. Ah, he
- 51:23Speaker 1: doesn't look very fluid. He looks again hampered or injured
- 51:27Speaker 1: or stiff or I don't know if he put on
- 51:29Speaker 1: more weight and that's why he's not moving good. But
- 51:31Speaker 1: he's just struggling. And I think his play is pretty
- 51:36Speaker 1: reflective and a bit of a microcosm of the Bills
- 51:38Speaker 1: and zone coverage this year, where it's just guys are
- 51:40Speaker 1: open in the seams, guys are open in the flats,
- 51:44Speaker 1: guys are open in the hook curls. I also think
- 51:46Speaker 1: their safeties, their safeties just get crazy amount of depth.
- 51:50Speaker 1: Like usually you know in certain coverages you want to
- 51:52Speaker 1: get to like eighteen to twenty yards. They're starting at
- 51:55Speaker 1: eighteen to twenty yards, so there's just space and they're
- 51:58Speaker 1: not like creeping up or playing top down. They're staying
- 52:00Speaker 1: at that and getting back even a couple more steps
- 52:02Speaker 1: because they're so concerned about getting beat over the top.
- 52:05Speaker 1: So there's this space between the second and third level,
- 52:09Speaker 1: which means the second level defenders have to get all
- 52:11Speaker 1: this depth if you're running Cover three or if you're
- 52:13Speaker 1: running Cover two, those second level defenders have to get
- 52:16Speaker 1: all this depth to make sure they stop those inbreakers
- 52:20Speaker 1: from getting in behind them, and then that opens up
- 52:23Speaker 1: potential checkdowns underneath, which is why you can check down
- 52:26Speaker 1: the ball and get like nine yards against the Bills defense,
- 52:28Speaker 1: or if the Bills have to honor that a little
- 52:30Speaker 1: bit more, you can hit these chunk plays and inbreakers
- 52:32Speaker 1: behind them in the intermediate. It's just really frustrating watching
- 52:36Speaker 1: them play spot drop zone. They're spacing is not great.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Guys are open between the second and third levels and
- 52:41Speaker 1: in holes at the second level. I also think tying
- 52:44Speaker 1: into that is safety play, which I'm going to talk about,
- 52:50Speaker 1: you know, in the next segment here. Actually I might
- 52:53Speaker 1: as well to talk about it now. The safety play
- 52:56Speaker 1: just rap has really regressed. I mentioned it. Let me
- 53:01Speaker 1: look him up now, so I know all the jokes
- 53:06Speaker 1: jokes jokes about Taylor Rapp and you know, friendly fire
- 53:08Speaker 1: and all that and hahaha. Last year he was legitimately
- 53:14Speaker 1: good coming from depth and making tackles. He you know,
- 53:17Speaker 1: there's a good example the snow game against the Niners.
- 53:21Speaker 1: McCaffrey breaks one, Rap comes up, sticks him, drops him
- 53:24Speaker 1: at about like twelve or thirteen yards. If he doesn't
- 53:26Speaker 1: make that tackle, it's a house call, it's a touchdown.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Rap did that a lot last year. For as much
- 53:30Speaker 1: maligned as he is in coverage, for as much maligned
- 53:33Speaker 1: as he is with the friendly fire stuff, he's been
- 53:35Speaker 1: a sound tackler and a sure tackler, especially coming from depth.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Not the case this year. Last year he had a
- 53:42Speaker 1: three point six mistackle rate, the year before that four
- 53:45Speaker 1: point seven. All the years before that in LA six
- 53:48Speaker 1: point three, six point six, eight point seven, five point eight.
- 53:52Speaker 1: So his worst year with mistackles was twenty twenty from
- 53:57Speaker 1: a percentage standpoint, where he had an eight point seven
- 54:00Speaker 1: sent mistackle rate, the most mistackles he's ever had in
- 54:03Speaker 1: a season, or twenty twenty two and twenty nineteen, where
- 54:05Speaker 1: he had six. This year, he already has eight miss
- 54:09Speaker 1: tackles and his mistackle rate is twenty five percent. That
- 54:12Speaker 1: is terrible and it's a huge regression for him. He
- 54:16Speaker 1: does not have coverage chops. From an athleticism standpoint, he
- 54:19Speaker 1: sees the game well. I think he can read it
- 54:20Speaker 1: a bit. I don't like some of the I think
- 54:23Speaker 1: some of the errors in decision making and coverage him
- 54:28Speaker 1: and Bishop are both making. So I think it's more
- 54:30Speaker 1: of what they're being coached to than necessarily with them.
- 54:33Speaker 1: But he has really regressed as a tackler in a
- 54:35Speaker 1: multitude of forms, and I think some of it is
- 54:39Speaker 1: stemming from the lack of athleticism and the lack of
- 54:41Speaker 1: foot speed for him. The margin for error for him
- 54:46Speaker 1: is so small with his angles to the ball because
- 54:48Speaker 1: he doesn't have the best foot speed, because he doesn't
- 54:50Speaker 1: have the most athleticism, so his angles and his timing
- 54:53Speaker 1: aren't on point. He's getting beat. There were some times
- 54:57Speaker 1: where he you know, even last night, he has a
- 54:58Speaker 1: run where they run outside zone to Bjeon Robinson if
- 55:04Speaker 1: you're going to the offenses left and Rap is going
- 55:06Speaker 1: with him, and he tries to chase it down from
- 55:07Speaker 1: the right and Bijeon breaks through the line and Rap
- 55:10Speaker 1: gets him. But the speed will and also with this
- 55:13Speaker 1: Bjeon's and Unicorn and he's amazing, but wrap the angle
- 55:17Speaker 1: that he gets Bijon on. He's chasing Bijon from behind.
- 55:20Speaker 1: What's Bijon going this way? Rap going this way? And
- 55:23Speaker 1: he's just more on Bijeon's backside than he is into
- 55:26Speaker 1: his hip and into his front to try and cut
- 55:28Speaker 1: him off, and he doesn't have that margin for air.
- 55:32Speaker 1: His angles have to be perfect because if they're not,
- 55:36Speaker 1: he's in a bad way. And this is you know,
- 55:38Speaker 1: this is a fair uh comment here that the Algaier
- 55:41Speaker 1: touchdown was really bad, horrible angle by wrap the finish
- 55:44Speaker 1: look bad. I don't think the angle is necessarily terrible.
- 55:48Speaker 1: He's a single high safety. So what you want to
- 55:50Speaker 1: do when you're coming up to play the run, you
- 55:51Speaker 1: essentially want to kind of like follow a banana path,
- 55:54Speaker 1: you know, technically, because you're a post player first and
- 55:56Speaker 1: foremost you're protecting the middle of the field. When you rerun,
- 56:00Speaker 1: you want to come forward and then kind of banana out.
- 56:02Speaker 1: So his initial angle wasn't terrible. But the problem is
- 56:06Speaker 1: Bijeon started to pick it or algae or picked up
- 56:08Speaker 1: so much speed. Once Rap comes forward, he doesn't have
- 56:12Speaker 1: that ability, like if he's trying to cut off somebody here,
- 56:15Speaker 1: he has to be line it and take that right angle.
- 56:17Speaker 1: He doesn't have the speed to come here and then
- 56:20Speaker 1: go this way and make up for it. So he
- 56:22Speaker 1: got a little too far upfield and was done their angles.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Him and Bishop. I mean, Bishop has just come up flying,
- 56:29Speaker 1: trying to make a play and kind of loses track
- 56:31Speaker 1: of himself at times. But yeah, he and Rap have
- 56:34Speaker 1: just been It's been a frustrating duo to watch. I
- 56:36Speaker 1: talked about it all throughout the off season. I could
- 56:38Speaker 1: make a whole episode on this. I talked about it
- 56:40Speaker 1: so much at length throughout the off season. I just
- 56:43Speaker 1: don't think they compliment each other well, and I don't
- 56:46Speaker 1: think either of them are what the Bills need from
- 56:48Speaker 1: a coverage standpoint deep, and I think that's part of
- 56:51Speaker 1: the reason why both of them are playing so far back,
- 56:54Speaker 1: why the spacing is so intense on the back end.
- 56:57Speaker 1: It's it's a pairing that I don't think as an
- 57:00Speaker 1: answer because I don't think Poyer and Bishop compliment each
- 57:03Speaker 1: other necessarily better. I don't think Rap and Poyer necessarily
- 57:05Speaker 1: compliment each other better. I think in theory, Hancock and
- 57:10Speaker 1: Bishop compliment each other better, or Hancock and Rap compliment
- 57:13Speaker 1: each other better. But I don't think Hancock is ready
- 57:15Speaker 1: from a mental standpoint and from a processing standpoint to
- 57:18Speaker 1: start yet. But man safety is ugly and my biggest
- 57:23Speaker 1: one this is this is more of a focus than
- 57:25Speaker 1: a fix. I don't think you can fix the safety
- 57:27Speaker 1: room aside from trading for someone else and bringing someone in.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I don't know how to fix the safety room. They're
- 57:34Speaker 1: at a spot where, unfortunately, they kind of have to
- 57:36Speaker 1: dance with who brought them, and Rap and Bishop are
- 57:39Speaker 1: the ones who brought them, and that's what they're looking
- 57:41Speaker 1: at at the safety spot right now, and it's concerning
- 57:45Speaker 1: a lot of my This is a frustrating one for
- 57:46Speaker 1: me because a lot of the concerns that I mentioned
- 57:48Speaker 1: throughout the off season have come to fruition with this
- 57:51Speaker 1: safety grouping. You're seeing the vulnerabilities and coverage with this pairing.
- 57:56Speaker 1: And the one saving grace that I had was, Okay,
- 58:00Speaker 1: raps athleticism and range isn't there, but he's such a
- 58:03Speaker 1: sound tackler coming from depth and now he's not given
- 58:06Speaker 1: that Again, twenty five percent mistackle rate is crazy. It
- 58:10Speaker 1: would be the worst of his career by over one
- 58:12Speaker 1: hundred percent, by over one hundred percent increase, which is crazy.
- 58:17Speaker 1: And yeah, it's just really poor for a guy who's
- 58:20Speaker 1: calling card was not range and was not coverage to
- 58:25Speaker 1: not have range and not have coverage, and now also
- 58:28Speaker 1: struggle coming from depth and making tackles in general, what
- 58:32Speaker 1: do you do? What do you do? I like this
- 58:35Speaker 1: from Lauren. Lauren says, I know you're saying spot drop coverage,
- 58:37Speaker 1: but we need that coverage. DMX saying about Oh, you're
- 58:40Speaker 1: thinking rough rider aths, stop drop, shut him down, open
- 58:42Speaker 1: up shop. Oh no, that's a rough rider's rule. I
- 58:52Speaker 1: want to go back to this, coming from earlier, I
- 58:53Speaker 1: made note of it clauseys, and I would think, because
- 58:55Speaker 1: you are a scheme guy, the Bills would drive you crazy.
- 58:57Speaker 1: For example, their lack of disguising, running percentage while under center,
- 59:00Speaker 1: throwing out a shotgun. Oh. Especially defensively, the Bills run
- 59:04Speaker 1: a style of defense that I do not personally gravitate towards.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Their philosophy and identity and roster building is not what
- 59:15Speaker 1: I gravitate towards in terms of philosophy or identity or
- 59:19Speaker 1: roster building. It's not what I would do if I
- 59:20Speaker 1: was building a team. It's not the type of defense
- 59:22Speaker 1: that I enjoy or would like to employ or deploy.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I should say, but it works for them, or on
- 59:28Speaker 1: the whole, it has. But that's also part of my
- 59:30Speaker 1: frustration come playoff time, because the areas that I don't
- 59:35Speaker 1: like in their defense are often the areas that get
- 59:38Speaker 1: put under the microscope come playoff time or against better
- 59:41Speaker 1: teams from a roster standpoint or a roster building standpoint,
- 59:44Speaker 1: or an archetype standpoint or a schematic standpoint. So that's
- 59:47Speaker 1: defensively and then offensively, the running percentage while under center
- 59:51Speaker 1: are throwing out a shotgun. I know those are predictable,
- 59:53Speaker 1: but I also think you can set the baseline with
- 59:57Speaker 1: that and then use that against defenses. So then you
- 59:59Speaker 1: get into a game and it's like, oh, hey, you
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: know they're running what seventy percent of the time when
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: under center, and that's the game where you run it
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: only forty percent on the center of that game, and
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you incorporate more play action passing or start to work
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: in some true under centered dropback stuff, which I don't
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: think they're going to do because not a lot of
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: teams do that. But yeah, I think you can use
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: that tendency against defenses and kind of make them, you know,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: the whole. I think I said this last week, the
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: whole like you know, we know what you know, and
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: we know that you know what we know that, you know.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: And so it's that chess match of are they really
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: going to throw it? Are they really going to run
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: it out of here? Are they actually adhering to their tendency,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: or are they trying to flip it on its head?
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: But overall, the defensive schematics bother me more than anything.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: It's the no, I shouldn't say. The schematics, well, yeah,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: some of it, But the philosophies and the philosophy, identity
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: and archetypes they subscribe to defensively for years frustrate me.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: I am not a fan of those. But yeah, now,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I don't think there's any one true, true, tried and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: true identity, philosophy, scheme structure way to build a roster.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: It all comes down to personal preference. But you know, hey,
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: you never know. I mentioned the safeties. Safety is really frustrating.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: The safeties are really frustrating. Coach Chapman, What up? Coach
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: coach says, please play handcock. I can't. I mean, I
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: don't think he's ready from a processing standpoint, from an
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: angle standpoint, from where he's seeing the game standpoint. But
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I mean it's hard to the biggest deterrent for me
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: wanting to say, like, all Hancock should play is what
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: kind of floor is he offering? But you could make
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: the case that the floor that the safeties are offering
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: right now isn't really that great. So why not throw
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Hancock in there and get him some time on task
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: and see what you can do with the athleticism and
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: the juice that he brings. I just think there's no
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: good answer. You could play handcock, there's still worries and
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: questions there. You could play rap, there's worries and questions.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: You could play Bishop, there's worries and questions. You could
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: play Poyer. It's frustrating. I put out a tweet earlier
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: today like I feel like the Bills had such good
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: safety play for so long that had angered the football gods,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: and now they are where they are because of that.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: It's just it's frustrating to see where the safety group
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: has gone. But teach there own. We'll see what happens
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the next piece. So we talked a little bit, a
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: lot of moments of the defense. I want to mention
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: a quick one on where is it? I have to
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: find it? Yeah, there it is. So the how did
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I officially title this year? No, that's not why I
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: want to get this on my way from my notes,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I have like ninety screens open. That's my fault the
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: running backs in the passing game. This is a potential fix,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: but also a focus. I think how the Bills use
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: their running backs has been found out a little bit
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: by defense. Is this ties into a larger thing. I
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: think with Joe Brady where the Bills offense is getting
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: into their tendency a bit too much, getting into a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: little bit of too much predictability from a formation alignment
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: and concept standpoint. But when targeting running backs. I wanted
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: to play this out there. We've talked about it since Joe
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Brady took over. If this goes back to his days
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: at LSU, this goes to his time with the Panthers.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: He's very adept at using his running backs in the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: past game, getting them in space, getting them advantageous matchups,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: getting them clean you know, like looks on mesh rail
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: things like that. Right, He's been very good at that
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: since the beginning, not so much this year. So the
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills when targeting running backs this year twenty twenty
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: five versus last year twenty twenty four. In twenty twenty four,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: they led the league in EPA per target when targeting
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: their running backs at positive zero point six to zero,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: first in the league. That's tremendous. Having a plus zero
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: point six EPA per target is amazing. And they were
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: also third in success rate when targeting running backs at
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: fifty six point one, so very good at targeting their
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: running backs. Last year. It makes sense, right getting ball
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: James Cook, ball to Ty Johnson, ball to Ray Davis.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Sometimes instructure, sometimes structure. This year, their EPA per target
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: two running backs negative zero point two to three, which
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: is twenty six in the league. So they went from
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: plus zero point six last year to negative zero point
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: two to three, and they went from first last year
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: to twenty sixth right now, their success rate again fifty
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: six point one last year third in the league. This
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: year it's twenty eight percent, which is thirty first in
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: the league. A big piece that I've noticed this year
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: when it comes to getting the running backs involved in
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: the past pass game. I mentioned a minute earlier, Bills
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: run mesh a bunch under Joe Brady, and they love
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: to run mesh rail. Sorry as I keep putting my
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: hand here to adjust the camera, but I don't know
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: why he keeps going in and out of focus is
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: driving me absolutely insane. I think it's because I'm moving
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: too much here. Mesh rail, if you don't know what
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: it is, Essentially, you're getting essentially over the middle of
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: the field. You will get two Kay Morris says ya,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: we aren't last positivity. You'll get that underneath drag route,
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: that underneath shallow, you'll get one above it, kind of
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: trying to create that rub and that frick between two
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: defenders of its man coverage. So you'll get those overs,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: those drags across the middle and then usually get an
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: over the ball route from somebody else. What the Bills
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: love to do is they'll take the running back with
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: that and they'll send him on that wheel out of
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: the backfield or that rail route right out of the backfield,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: and that running back he's the first read. He is
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the number one in the progression. The Bills go to
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: that a lot. They've hit Cook on it, They've hit
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: Johnson on it, they hit ray Davis on it. Sometimes
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: they'll get coverage bus Sometimes defenses will go too far
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: over the top trying to get through the garbage of
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: the traffic to get to it, and Alan will spit
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: it out right away and it's an easy six or
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: seven yards or play to the running back. But this year,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: defenses are all over that they are covering that rail
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: route from the running back. Alan is not able to
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: hit it. Alan is not able to get to it.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: And that was a significant part of what they did
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: last year with getting the ball to the running backs.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: You're just not seeing that same availability with the running
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: backs on meshrail this year, and by extension, that's impacting
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: their and the running back targets and the running back
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: attempts in the air and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: But overall, I think you need to get the running
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: backs more involved in the past game, especially James Cook,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: especially when you are struggling with health at the outside
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: spots with wide receiver or Dalton Kincate is down like
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: last night, should have been an opportunity. Okay, let's get
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: our running backs involved in the past game as much
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: as we can. But it was just like, no, we're
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: just gonna run messrail and it's not available and it's
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: not there. I am worried a bit about that. I
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: think it ties into more of the past game being
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: found out a little bit. The run game being found
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: out a little bit. I don't think I am sorry,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: this is driving me absolutely insane. I don't think that
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I am some amazing ball knower or football person. But
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: when I'm able to watch a Bills game and I
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: can see a formation or a down in distancer situation,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, here comes this run up, here
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: comes this past concept, I would bet NFL defenses are
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: able to do that, and probably way better than I am,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: and probably even more than I am. So I'm a
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: little worried that the offense is getting found out a
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: little bit. And yeah, last night, I see the common
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: here from Josh says they also need to use James
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Cook the way the Falcons use Bijon. Bijeon is more
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: of a unicorn than Cook. But Cook can definitely do
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: more in the pass game than he's getting the opportunity
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: to do, which is a little frustrating. And yeah, especially
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: in a game like last night, where Palmer goes down,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Kincaid's already down, You're struggling these areas. The Falcons are
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: just teeing off with the Blitz. It would be nice
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: to kind of, you know, let's move James Cook around
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: a little bit let's get James Cook involved as a
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: pass catcher instead of you know, the Falcons kind of blitzing,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: dictating the match up there, dictating protection. You're not really
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: forcing them out of it or making them kind of
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: account for anything. A little frustrated, a little frustrating, a
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: little frustrated. I'll make it very much, Autumn. I appreciate you. Yeah,
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: maybe I made sure to get the tree in there.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Which driving me nuts now is that the camera has
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: gone out of focus. It's driving me absolutely insane. I
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: don't know why it's going out of focus. I don't
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: know what it's focusing on instead of it's driving me
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: absolutely insane. I almost can't focus. I want to like
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: shut down the stream right now because I'm absolutely frustrated
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: with it. Yeah, but I think the past game has
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: gotten found out a little bit and the offense is
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: getting found out a little bit as well. That ties
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: into a little bit for the defense as well. I
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: think there is some predictability for the Bills defense with
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: their coverages, with the type of fronts that they use.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: You know, Atlanta did a lot of what Miami does,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: where hey, we're just gonna send a bunch of different motions,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: move the second level, attack the weak side, attack the
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: b gap bubble, have numbers advantage or have a hat
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: on a hat know that the Bills aren't gonna win
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: battles up front and win one on one and just attack.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I think there are some issues with being predictable and
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: being found out a little bit on both sides the ball.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: When it comes to Nick says, the camera got paid
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: up by the motorcyclist. Stats. But there we go. Why
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: did I guess I just need to sit up, okay,
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: and I'm gonna try and not move it all. Because
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: I finally came back into focus. I feel so much better.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: That's very funny, Nick, I like you with that. The
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: camera got paid off by the motorcyclist. Yeah, the predictability
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: a little bit of the Oh Sesus says, maybe the
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: lights on the tree. No, because I think the tree
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: is at the same depth and I normally keep it
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: at previously. But I don't think it's the lights. I
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: think it's me. Maybe not. I can just make sure
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: I sit still. Yeah, I think there's a little bit of,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: you know, both sides of the ball getting found out
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: a little bit. And again, it's early, it's week six.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: We'll see what they do coming out of the by
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: This is the time, of course, correct, this is the
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: time to kind of adjust a little bit. But you
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: also don't want to put your entire self out on
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: display before you get to the playoffs and potentially need those,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: you know, things that you kept in the bag a
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: little bit then. So we'll see, But I do think
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: there are some issues with the offense being found out
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: a little bit. Dave it says the tree is coming
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: from depth and missing a tackle on the camera. Well done,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: A plus A plus David, Wow, the chat is on
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: fire tonight. I'm enjoying this. Bob says, it's the look
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: at the eyes. They are pretty creepy. I think that
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: cat's adorable with this little witch hat is pumpkin, but yeah,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: the eyes are a little scary. That's fair. I think
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: they've got to change some things up on both sides
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: of the ball from a predictability standpoint and an identity standpoint.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Just again, it doesn't have to be a full scale overhaul.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: They're not redesigning the wheel. But you need some tweaks.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: You need something to kind of throw a wrench into.
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: Oh they're in this. Here comes this Oh, they're in this.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: It's either going to be A or B. We can
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: attack both or you know, it's gonna be seventy percent
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: of A. Let's play for A and Chinda is getting
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: into that mold. It is a bit frustrating to watch.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: And well, I think health is going to play a
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: big one for both of these sides of the ball,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: you know, starting on the offensive side, getting healthier at
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: the pass catching options. I'm interested to see what that
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: does for this offense as a whole. They really leaned
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: on James Cook early, kind of haven't the past several weeks.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: That also, I wonder if that's why are they not
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: trying to get him involved in the past too much,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: because they've been running him a lot and they want
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: to keep fresh or they want to keep him healthy.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: But you know, if you do want to win games still,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: and so in case of emergency, break glass and release
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: James Cook as a pass catcher a little bit if possible.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how those things kind of coalesce
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: into one going forward. And then on the defensive side, Yeah,
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: does Hoyt how much does Hoyt change things? I don't
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: think they're gonna become a completely different defense with Michael
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Hoyt back, But can they use him like the Rams
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: that do we get him in that type of spinning roll.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Do we get him in that cheetah package that we
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: got with the Rams where you're running these overload fronts
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: and it's just all pass rushers and headhunters that are
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: on the field on third down. Now, in order to
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: get to those situations, you got to win against the
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: run on first and second down, which is also a problem.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna mention that briefly now because I don't think
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: it's something that can can be fixed. The Bills are
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: gonna keep getting gashed, and they're gonna keep getting blown
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: off the ball on the interior. They are just not
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: built to defend the run on the inside. They are
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: built to stop the run with game script for their
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: opponents away from the run and or gapping out and
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: using bodies. They're having issues defending the run from two
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: high structures. They are having issues with gap integrity between
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the second level and the first level. Up front, they
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: are having issues with guys getting off blocks. They're just
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: not built to stop the run like that. They're gonna
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: have to win with run blitzz numbers and game script.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: That's gonna be messy, and it comes with its own
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: set of risk and reward, a little live by the sword,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: die by the sword type of deal. But that's that's
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: the bed they made. They got to line it. But
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I'm hoping that they can get to some more known
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: passing down and distance in situations you can, you can
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: unleash Michael Hoyt and some new schematics. Potentially Ogan job
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: we should help with the pass rush. I think he's
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: not gonna help too much from a run defense standpoint.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: He's gonna get blown off the ball. And then we'll
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: see what happens at linebacker, how Hurd is Bernard, does
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Mlano come back? Dorian is still getting lost in time.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Shaq Thompson has been largely their best linebacker all year,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: which is awesome for him, but also you know, and
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: a feather in his cap, but also probably not what
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: you want to hear or see if you're the Bills
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: or a Bills fan. But yeah, that run defense, I
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: think is going to continue to be a struggle, is
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: going to continue to be worrisome. I think it's going
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: to be something that we continue to talk about all year,
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: just like it was last year and even the year before.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: But I think a lot of the turnovers and the
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: game script glossed over the fact that the Bills struggled
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: against a run last year, and it kind of really
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: wasn't paid attention to too much. Another piece I wanted
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: to bring up here, something to focus on somebody who
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: who has this question. Ah, there is question this has
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: our offensive line taking a step back this year, and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: I wanted to bring that up because I tweeted this
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: out earlier in twenty twenty four. So last year, regular
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: season and playoffs, Josh Allen was sacked nineteen times and
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: he had a pressure to sack rate of nine percent.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: This year, through six games, he's already been sacked twelve
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: times and he has a pressure to sack rate of
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: sixteen point four percent, which would be the third highest
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: rate of his career and the highest since twenty nineteen,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: which was his second year in the league. Bills are
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: struggling a little bit in pass pro. Allen is not
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: making the mutant plays back there where he's stiff arman
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: dudes and shaking guys and you know, avoiding pressures being
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: turned into sacks. He's also holding the ball a little
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: bit longer because guys aren't necessarily getting open the pressures
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: turning into sacks and blitzes being able to get to
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: the Bills is a little worrisome. I don't think Allen
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: is diagnosing things to a high standard pre snap or
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: post snap. I think athleticism and juice is giving the
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Bills offensive line problems up front. And I think the
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: lack of having true and declarative separators on wide receivers
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: at wide receiver, I should say that's also kind of
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: adding into things too. So the offense has struggled a
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: bit these past several weeks, and you know, so you're
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: seeing Alan get pressured, You're seeing pressures turn into sacks.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: They're seeing him half the hole onto the ball. Some
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: of that's the offensive line, some of that is Josh Allen.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Some of that is the weapons, which again makes this
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: more of a focus than it is a fix. I
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: don't think this is a thing where it's like all
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: they have to do is this one thing and everything's fine.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I don't think the old line is taking a step back,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: but I do think there the old line play is
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: one of several factors that's leading to Alan getting pressured
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: more and Alan getting sacked more, which again is something
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: we really haven't seen the past couple of years. The
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: offensive line was so much better two years ago. They
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: switched it up last year with a new combination and
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: they didn't miss a beat and actually probably improved. And
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: this year we're seeing some struggles. We saw the Saints
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: get after Alan, we saw the Pats get after Alan,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: we saw the Falcons get after Alan, but just more
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: with bodies and scheme, you know, also too, like them
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: not being able to count for kay Nellis is that
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: off ball dude, and everything that was going from there,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Like it was just that's a little worrisome. I mentioned
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: last week when in the episode of kind of like
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: sorting out the real problems versus the fake ones, you know,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: noting that it was something to watch with how the
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Patriots front gave the Bills offensive line problems the game
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: against the Falcons a little worrisome still, I you know,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: especially when you get into the predictability realm where you
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: can't just people move, you can't just run the ball.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: That's been the Bill's easy button. Let's just get some push,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: let's run the ball, will be good to go. Done
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: and dusted right. If you can't run the ball, then
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: it becomes tight. Then you get into these third and lungs.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: You have the defenses with the ability to game up
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: their pass protection, just like the Ravens did to them
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: last year in the regular season, just like the Texans
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: did to them in the regular season last year. And
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: then you pair that with guys not being able to
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: create separation, not being able to win outside, alan not
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: having time to get too longer developing routes. It's kind
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: of this, you know, you know, perpetual, perpetual cycle of
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: black and that's concerning. I don't know if they necessarily
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: can fix it. I don't you know. They'd have to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: add a weapon at wide receiver. They'd have to start
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: to build more of a threat outside from their wide
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: receivers and deep kind of push defenses off a little bit,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: change how defenses attack them. Allen's gonna have to show
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: that he can beat the blitz when it comes. The
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: offense is gonna have the offensive lines have to show
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: they can give him time. Yeah, they're kind of getting
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: into some worrisome trends these past couple of weeks, but
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: they have done that in this parts of the season.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: The past couple of years, they've always found a way
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: to pull themselves out, so we will see when it
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: comes to that. Going through some comments here, any other questions, thoughts, commons,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: concerns from you folks. If anybody's wondering I got through
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: the Bills defensive tape today, I'll be posting more stuff
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: on socials tomorrow and that and giving some overall final thoughts.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: I have to get through the offense later tonight and tomorrow.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Film will be happening tomorrow breaking down that. So got
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: a lot more to get through. Still, the game being
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: on a Monday and the show being on a Tuesday
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: is always frustrating, But shout out to the billster getting
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: primetime games. Swin says, our teams blitzing more because they
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: don't think our receivers can get open. I think that's
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: one aspect of it. I think teams blitzing and teams,
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: you know, playing more man or just single high. I
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: think a lot of it comes down to you're trying
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: to attack the run right, So sometimes pass blitzes are
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: really run blitzes. But if you pass the ball when
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: someone brings a run blitz, it's just charted as a
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: pass on a blitz. But I think teams are attacking
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: the Bills run game with coverage, structure and blitzes, and
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I think they're able to do so. One well, I
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: shouldn't say able to do so, but they're doing that
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: because all good the Bills run game is and it's
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: a top priority to stop it. But also going a
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: little hand in hand with that is that I don't
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: think they fear the Bills pass catchers on the outside
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: or deep. I don't think they're in a spot where
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: it's like, oh, we got to watch out for this dude,
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: we got to throw a double over there. We're not
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: comfortable playing this dude one on one or you know,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: in single on an island out there. I think it's
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: so I think it's a little bit of that. I
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: think it's more tied to their identity and their run game.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: But I do think it is tied to that a
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: little bit as well. So that's a fair question, a
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: fair point. But Bill's eighty three says trade for a lobbe.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: I would absolutely love a trade for a labbe. It's tough.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: It's tough. It's tough. It's tough. Ceasol says, and you
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: can bet the Panthers and Chiefs are studying these last
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: two games, so more blitzes are coming, especially with Spags
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: good times. Coach chatmans Is, I feel like it's more
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: of scheme issues. I don't see the easy button passes
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: that were there last year. Brady is getting predictable and
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: he's not leaning into cook. I think it's a very
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: fair point. It's something I mentioned during the Miami game
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: that the more that they're the Bills are unable to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: push the ball downfield or win outside, the more that
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: they're relying on just underneath or the low intermediate in
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the past or running the football, defenses are going to
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: keep creeping up. Defenses are going to keep restrict in space,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: and they're going to make life tough for this offense,
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: and every everything will get further and further condensed and
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: further and further, you know, tighter for this offense and
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: a bit more sluggish. And a lot of those easy
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: button passes last year were from a numbers perspective. It
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: was underneath. It was a quick like, okay, numbers are
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: in the box to stop the run. Cool, we got
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: a pass tag attached to it. Let me spit it
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: out to Shakir because we got three verse two outside,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: or we got three verse two and we have angles
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: in space, let's take advantage with that, or defense drop deep.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: You know they're really trying to sell out to put
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: a cap on things, so let me just check it
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: down for an easy six or seven yards. Now there's
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: less of that because guys are creeping up. There's more guys,
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: and when you're looking on the broadcast, there's more guys
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: in that horizontal frame because they're not scared to get
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: beat outside. They're not scared of geting beat over the top.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: They're playing the run, and they're playing with numbers, and
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: they're playing with confidence, not getting feared or not getting
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: fearful of what the Bills could do on the outside
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: or with that pass game. So a couple passes here
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: or there are a couple of shots could change things
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: a little bit, but we'll see. I like the follow
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: up for coach Japan who says it's a little similar
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: to pre Cooper Bills last year. Cooper was more of
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: a threat than a weapon, and this follow common two here.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: This says that single high was happening right before we
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: traded for Cooper. Absolutely it's so it's gonna happen in
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: general because the Bills can run the ball so well,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: So if you're in single high, you have an extra
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: body in and around the box and the line of
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: scrimmage that helps, you know, have numbers against the run.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: But in conjunction with that, when you're playing single high,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: if it's man obviously your corners outside are in one
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: on one. But even if it's cover three, so again
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: single high just zone, your corners are still essentially on
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: an eland outside. And if you're not fearful of the
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: wide receivers out there, or if the Bills aren't throwing
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: it out there and working outside or deep, you can
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: continue to live in those single high structures without a
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: lot of fear. And then you can sit at certain
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: depths and play the low intermediate to the underneath, or
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: place certain routes because the whole menu isn't available to
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: them where you're not scared of that whole menu happening.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: And you know, it really kind of reared its head
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: last year in the Ravens game and in the Texans game,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: similar to kind of what happened with the Patriots this year, right,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: And I hate to keep saying this because it sounds
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: like I pat myself on the back and I'm not.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: But I said it last year, I said it this year.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Teams with good and or athletic corners are gonna be
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: able to play single high and cover the Bills one
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: on one on the outside. The Pats did it with
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: Gonzales and Davis. The Ravens did it last year with
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Weggans and even Stevens to a degree, but also Humphrey.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: The Texans did it because they have Stingly on one
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: side and last year on the other. Like, teams with
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: good corners are just gonna play single high and bet
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: that their guys can lock up the Bills guys on
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: the outside and then they can play the run with
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: bodies and numbers in the box. That's my fear of
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Why said you need to be able to win deep.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: You need to be able to get some shot plays
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: and some chunk plays because you have to get teams
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: out of single high a little bit, or you could
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: get him in a single Hiye, that's fine. You gotta
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: go play action. You take advantage of Dalton can Kaid
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: on some crossers. You got to use him as that
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: matchup mismatch creator, I should say against safeties, against linebackers,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: take advantage of it that way. But even then that
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: starts to again shrink the field, shrink your operating space,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: and kind of build tendency even further. But yeah, I
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: expect that single the single high thing is going to continue,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: especially if Cooper is out. The only way it's going
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: to go away is if the Bills start to really
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: win outside and vertical, and I don't see that happening.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: And even if it does to that degree, their run
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: game is still going to be priority for defenses, so
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: you're still going to see a lot of single high
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a bit. That's what I've talked about.
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Even though their run game is great and you're forcing
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: defense out of the too high structure, it's not this
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: too high structure kind of putting a cap on everything.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: It's these single high structures with good or athletic corners
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: locking guys down. The Bills have to find answers elsewhere,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: which they have at times. Right, they do have some
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: man beaters. I think Palmer can do that in the
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: underneath and the intermediate. I think King Kate is a
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: mismatch against linebackers and safeties it's just a matter of
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: getting to that consistently and tying it in with some
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: scheme pieces as well. But it creates again this kind
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: of never ending cycle or perpetuating cycle or never ending
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: story or kind of a snake chasing its tail or
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: eating its own tail type deal. Not great, not great,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: not great, but we'll see. M hmm.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: What There was a comment.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Matthew says, is there any way we could do anything
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: this season to start stopping the run with the players
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: still on the roster. Yes, you have to win with
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: numbers and rumblets the same way they did last year.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: They're gonna have to gap out, they're gonna have to
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: play more single high, they're gonna have to spin a
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: safety down on the snap or line up with the
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: safety in the box pre snap. They're gonna have to
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: win with numbers because I just don't see the players
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: on the roster the way they're built this team. I
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: don't think they have enough guys who are stout to
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: anchor and mitigate displacement and or get off blocks and
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: win consistently to disrupt the run. So if you can't
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: win individually, you're gonna have to win with numbers and
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: that's kind of where they are unfortunately, which is the
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: same thing they were, the same spot they were in
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: last year, so which is frustrating, but fortunately a kind
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: of is what it is. What I think, no injuries.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: We talked about the defense bomb bomb bum like it's
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: comment here saying Dean Walker's flashes are amazing, but his
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: lows are still well low. Absolutely, he's had some really
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: nice flashes, very positive, but he's still work in progress,
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: and I think a lot of his work in works
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: in progress are being h glossed over a little bit.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: There any other further questions, thoughts, commons, concerns, feel free
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: everyone to get them into the chat. As I talk
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: about the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. That is
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: One Pie Pizza. If you don't know, One Pie Pizza
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: is sincerely the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. I
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: don't say that because they sponsored the show. They sponsor
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: the show because they think they are the best. Sweet
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: sauce pie cup and char Pepperoni, a great cheese sauce ratio,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: homemade blue cheese. If you get a multitude of toppings,
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: they'll chop them up, sprinkle them evenly across the pie.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: They have an awesome pizza named after the show and
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: the brand. They do a bunch of breakfast pizzas, They
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: have a bunch of great salads, and just everything they
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: have is sincerely delicious. You should get yourself some One
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Pie Pizza if you want to know, Hey, you know
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: what's what's on the pizza named after the brand. First off,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: it's called the Cover One Alan Goat. It's got homemade
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: red sauce, goat cheese, chicken fingers, mozzarella, cheese, red onion,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: and bacon. It is absolutely phenomenal. If you live in Buffalo,
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: get yourself to One Pi Pizza. If you're visiting Buffalo,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: get yourself to One Pie Pizza. They also have a
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: catering division called Elevated Catering a Buffalo. If you're doing
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: an event, get them to do an event for you.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: I've had them do multiple form me over the past
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: couple of years, and every time I've done it, it's
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: been absolutely great. Just a ton of good dishes. I
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: get some pizzas with them as well. But they do
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: chicken and rice dishes. They do mac and cheese. They
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: do a variety of mac and cheese. Like everything they
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: do sincerely is great and they're good people on top
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: of it, with all the initiatives and drives and things
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: they do for the city and the community at large here,
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: including the Toys for Tots drive that will be coming
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: up soon that I will have more details for as
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: we go forward. So shout out to one Pi Pizza,
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: the best pizza in Buffalo, New York. I'm gonna thro
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: up the banners as tootles folk, because we're gonna start
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: to wind down here. Jesus says, if you're visiting from NYC,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: bring some pizza with you when you visit. Man, I
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: wish I could travel with them by pizza would be amazing.
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: I would travel with it everywhere I go. Uh yeah,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: So I don't think again, bills are rolling two obviously
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: the last two weeks. I don't think the wheels have
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: fallen off. I don't think this team is doomed. I
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: do think they have some flaws. I do think they
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: have some vulnerabilit You know, it depends on what verbiage
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: you equate to each word or you know, how you
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: want to use each furbage, right, Like, flaws, deficiencies, vulnerabilities,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: any of those things they do have those and to
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: whatever degree you know you use each of those words,
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I do think they have some flaws and or deficiencies
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: and or vulnerabilities. The run defense is still going to
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: be an issue. I don't think they can fix that
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: as much the coverage issue. From a zone standpoint. I
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: think they can fix it from being more technically sound
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: and fundamentally sound. But I think they can fix it
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: a little bit with more man coverage and more match elements.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: I don't think they can go true man consistently because
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I don't think they have the bodies for it. Oh,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: thank you so much, Arthur, and you got me with it, Arthur,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: thank you very much for being here and being a
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: consistent commenter and for the super chat donation. Arthur says, Aunt,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: thank you very much for the show. These are always
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: fun and informative. I know you don't like to post compliments,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: but I also know you respect the monetary donation plaid
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: me against myself. Well done, well done, cheers to you.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Thank you so much for that. Sincerely, I appreciate the
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: kind words and the comment and the super chat and
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: for you being here in general. Arthur. That's awesome. Thank
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: you so much. Yeah, so coverage. I think they can
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: fix that a little bit by getting away from true
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: spot drops spot drop zone, But that comes with its
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: own set of risk and reward. That means you're playing
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: some man. That means you're playing more match coverage, rules
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: based coverage. That means you cant have communication issues or
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: complexity issues on the back end, And so that comes
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: with its own set of worries. The pass game being
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: found out a little bit, that's a little scary. Predictability
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: on both the defense and offense. That's a little scary. Injuries.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: We'll see what that can kind of do to this
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: team a little bit and make things up. Pop says,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: in what ways do you see Hoy helping? I see
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: Hoy helping from a mismatch creation standpoint. You can align
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: him on the edge on early downs. You can put
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: him over the center or in the a gaps on
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: pass rushing downs. You can line him as an off
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: ball linebacker. You can blitz him, you can spike him
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: on games, you can loop him, you can drop him
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: into coverage every once in a while. I think you
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: really do kind of have a mini chest piece with
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: him mixed with physicality and violence, which is pretty awesome.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: So I see him helping just from a a schematic
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: perspective in terms of mismatch, creation protection, dictation protection, rules
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: breaking and disruption and some fun creative looks hopefully ideally
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: with him. There was also one and says, play action.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Why are we not running it much more? I asked
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: this every year, and now I'm starting to think it's
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: just that Josh Allen doesn't like play action. I don't know,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: because it just seems like an absolute given that if
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: you have a really good run game, you should run
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: play action and use that to generate explosives and chunk plays.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: And it feels like their play action game should be
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: used more frequently and or should be better. But alas,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: we're kind of just in the same spot as were
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: last year. Matthew says, the Land and Jackson play yesterday.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I thought I saw his jersey. He did play yesterday.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Those are my only thoughts. He did play, he did play,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: he did play. So yeah, I don't think everything is
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: on fire. I don't think any everything is terrible. We'll
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: see what this team looks like coming out of the
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: bye week. Bye weeks are traditionally very important to teams.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: These are your opportunities to self scout course correct and
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: we'll see how much of that course correction and that
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: self scouting aligns with guys coming back from suspension, guys
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: get healthier. We'll see what happens. But I do think again,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: I don't think this team is in trouble or in
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: dire straits. But they do have flaws, they do have vulnerabilities,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: they do have deficiencies. They do need to clean them up.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I don't think they can all be cleaned up because
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I think a good chunk of them are tied to
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: the personnel on this roster and who they've built this
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: roster out of from a body type standpoint and an
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: archetype standpoint, and until they change that, that's the larger
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: picture in a conversation for a whole other episode. The
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: schematics or what the schematics are. They can tweak those
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: two a degree, but a lot of them are tied
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: to the body types and the archetypes that they choose
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: to bring in to this defense. And then it becomes
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: a little bit of a chicken and egg scenario. So
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: we'll see what this team can be going forward. I
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: really appreciate everybody who tuned in to this episode live
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: here on this Tuesday night. If you have not already,

- 1:32:19Speaker 1: Landon Jackson did anything. Joey hit it on the head
