- 0:31we had a negotiation this morning on what time is appropriate to wake up and
- 0:36then if you wake up you know, I have four kids, so what
- 0:39time is it appropriate to wake up your other siblings? And crdly, what
- 0:44are you supposed to do that does not involve waking up mommy and daddy?
- 0:47So we are We're gonna go for a six o'clock. You can't wake up
- 0:50mommy daddy before six o'clock. But they're all talking about setting their timers and
- 0:55alarms and I'll get up earlier. I'm like, you guys are nuts,

- 2:07do in our three stores. Every single day, people come in with a
- 2:09question, we give them a little direction and we're good at it. And
- 2:14so hey, now's a good time to call. Six o' eight three two
- 2:16one thirteen ten. That's six o eight three two one thirteen ten. And
- 2:20I drove by, was out in Fitchburg, guest to day, drove by,
- 2:23and I got to stop in. I'm going to stop in this week
- 2:25for sure, but uh, it was hoppin yesterday. Seasonally are people?
- 2:30Are people really embracing when it comes to like quality gifts or gift cards or
- 2:36thinking about their healthful New year? There's it sounds cliche, but the gift
- 2:40of health is a real thing and it means so much more, you know,
- 2:44I was so Yes, we're busier for those reasons. People are grabbing
- 2:47gift cards from our stores and from our website and just also bringing up intense
- 2:53conversations because many loved ones are battling chronic health conditions, and so often in
- 3:00battling health conditions, you are backed in a corner. You know, you've
- 3:05seen a couple specialists. The headaches still remain, or the pain still remains,
- 3:08or the digestive issues are there's still problems, and so people are very
- 3:14curious on hey, what natural alternatives are working in our community for these very
- 3:19common issues and sometimes not so common. So those are our kind of special
- 3:23transactions for me, because it's it's like a gift of love. You know,
- 3:27all these people are coming in, they really want something, and so
- 3:29it's this prayer folk sort of conversation on what's the best approach and that sort
- 3:32of thing. And so, yeah, it's a good time to give the
- 3:36gift of health. It's such a great thing. And you mentioned not only
- 3:38stop in pick up gift cards, you've got them available online at find your
- 3:40Healthy Place dot com. That's find your Healthy Place dot com. What a
- 3:45great gift this time of year for the loved one in your life. Mentioned
- 3:47also different ways to get in contact with Tim. Of course find your Healthy
- 3:52Place dot com. You can chat with the wellness consultant in stores Westside,
- 3:54Fitchburger, Sun Prairie, and of course the phone lines are open as well.
- 3:58Love to have you joined us this week six eight three two one thirteen
- 4:00ten. That's six oh eight three two one thirteen ten gets you on the
- 4:03air with Tim O'Brien from the Healthy Place. Another option is emails, and
- 4:08I know we get a bunch of really good emails each and every week.
- 4:11Of course, email Tim at finds your Healthy Place dot com. That's Tim
- 4:15t I am at find your Healthy Place dot com. And Sally messaged in
- 4:18Sally emails, she said, if needed after we go through, Uh,
- 4:23excuse me, I'm reading, I'm reading your in need ed here was one.
- 4:30Oh, you tell it. You can tell Christmas is on the mind
- 4:32Sally Sean's thinking about is Christmas present? Sally? It's an interesting way to
- 4:39start your nost she wants to know. And this is such an important question
- 4:44that Sally says, what's the recommend dosage for vitamin D during the fall and
- 4:47winter months? And of course, uh that that's uh noting that UH countered
- 4:54a few different options and appropriate amount to take throughout the year. And Sally's
- 4:57wondering about that. And I know a lot of folks that days get short,
- 5:00we don't get as much sunshine, All sorts of nasty stuff is in
- 5:03the air, and then you get conflicting information about how much is appropriate.
- 5:09What is the recommended dosage for vitamin D? Tim, Yeah, great,
- 5:13great question, Sally, And most of us are deficient in vitamin D.
- 5:17Like that's really important to understand. And especially in Wisconsin, where we sit
- 5:21on the globe, the sun hits us at a certain angle that we don't
- 5:25absorb our benefit from the sun in the same way as those closer to the
- 5:30equator. So it's just important in general to know that US Northerners are a
- 5:34little bit more vitamin D depleted than those in the South. And taking vitamin
- 5:40D year round is highly highly recommended. Folks in general tend to feel the
- 5:46impact of their vitamin D deficiencies more in the winter because that might peak.
- 5:50And that's true and good and even maybe more important to take vitamin D in
- 5:55the winter months. So do it. You'll feel better. I mean,
- 5:58this is about your mood health, and this is about your immune system,
- 6:02pain in the body, hormone balance, so many benefits and reasons to take
- 6:06vitamin D. And so if you're feeling fatigue, you're feeling a little more
- 6:11moody, and your mood's down immune system obviously, like those are all often
- 6:16indicators that you're depleted in vitamin D. Now, how much to take is
- 6:21dependent on a number of different factors. So when folks come into the stores,
- 6:27our most common recommendation will be five thousand I use per day. Now,
- 6:30the daily value, that's the DV. If you look on the side
- 6:33of the Wheedy's box, you seeund percent. When you're quote unquote getting one
- 6:39hundred percent of vitamin D daily value, that's four hundred I use. Now,
- 6:45it's important to mention that that is a very archaic system. The daily
- 6:48value desperately needs to be redone. It was done maybe seventy years ago.
- 6:54And the original approach as this was formed, at least from the article I
- 6:59read, was around military and what they needed daily in order to survive.
- 7:04So it was more about survival, like what's the smallest amount that you need
- 7:09to survive? So hey, you know, when customers come in, it's
- 7:12like you want to survive or thrive, you know, And so we'll have
- 7:15that conversation. So anywhere between though two thousand I use a day and ten
- 7:20thousand I US a day is where Sally is reading this like conflicting information.
- 7:26So we'll, you know, we'll recommend folks in general get your blood drawn
- 7:30at some point, you know, do it every few years. Get a
- 7:32full women's panel, a full male men's panel, and just see where your
- 7:36nutritional levels are at. You know, everyone's deficient in something and if you
- 7:41don't get your blood drawn, you just won't know. So Family Clinic and
- 7:45Natural Medicine over in Deerfield love to recommend those guys. They do great work.
- 7:47There's a lot of folks though in Madison area too that you can get
- 7:50your blood drawn, see where your vitamin D levels are at, your B
- 7:54vitamins. I mean, it's your health and if you know what you're deficient
- 7:58in, it's pretty easy to take care of. But now, the last
- 8:00thing I'd say is get a vitamin D with K two in it. You
- 8:05really want to have a vitamin D something that has vitamin K two in it.
- 8:09K two is the natural form versus K one's your synthetic form. And
- 8:13when you absorb, when your body takes in, absorbs assimilates vitamin D,
- 8:18it uses vitamin K to help that process. So it uses your body's natural
- 8:22stores, which is why it's super beneficial to have it in there with it.
- 8:26So a lot of different brands make a DK combo. I'll recommend solar
- 8:31Power. It's called solar Power by Lively Vitamin Co. You can go on
- 8:33our website type in solar and it'll pull it right up. I would encourage
- 8:37folks to get the five thousand iu. It is very difficult to overdose.
- 8:41It is fat soluble, so yes, you can take too much. But
- 8:45we're talking like like twenty thousand I use a day for years, you know,
- 8:50just very strong levels. Even a baby upon delivery. Doctors now are
- 8:54recommending a baby D drop which is four hundred. I use now as a
- 8:58reminder that that's what they're saying. The daily value is for adults, and
- 9:01this is a six pound, four ounce baby. So don't be too scared
- 9:05about taking a higher level of vitamin D. It's helping people getting those nanograms
- 9:09per millileater. I do believe is what when you do the blood tests that
- 9:13they that they tell you getting those things checked out. That's interesting when you
- 9:16mentioned that to Tim, I think a lot of folks don't don't take the
- 9:20time to have, you know, have those results done. And I years
- 9:22ago I had a doctor friend tell me like because I'm like, I'm just
- 9:26so tired all the time, and they suggested, well, you should probably
- 9:30you have your vitamin D levels looked at to see where they and where they
- 9:33are, because there's a lot of great information that can come out of that.
- 9:37And I know you've talked in the past about about nutrition and foods that
- 9:43we're eating a lot of and correct me if I'm wrong, Tim, and
- 9:46you've got the you've got the all the information on this. But like even
- 9:50like the vegetables and fruits that were buying at the store are not as nutritionally
- 9:54dense as they once were. It's nineteen fifty you know. I love bringing
- 9:58this up. I read an article that was stay. I mean it was
- 10:00intense. A salad just a bowl of salad from the nineteen fifties as literally
- 10:03half the amount of vitamins, minerals, nutrients and compared to nineteen fifties,
- 10:09and it's way more loaded with with toxins, you know, pesticides, herbicides,
- 10:15fungusides, these are chemicals. It's pretty it's pretty eye opening, you
- 10:18do. And that's the importance. We talk with Tim O'Brien from the healthy
- 10:22place, starting that journey, whether you're concerned about of course, fall in
- 10:26winter and your overall health. Of course, with the new year, a
- 10:28lot of us say, you know what, I want to make some changes,
- 10:31or you're concerned about somebody else in your life. It's an important time
- 10:33to start that conversation. A great day to get on in. They'd love

- 11:30What a great time year to get into the Healthy Place. Whether it's a
- 11:33Fitchburg, West side of Madison or sun Prairie location of the Healthy Place,
- 11:37it is always a great experience for you. And again, phone lines are
- 11:39open six oh eight three two one thirteen ten. That's six oh eight three
- 11:43two one thirteen ten. If you've got a question for Tim O'Brien. Another
- 11:46way you can email is tim at finds your Healthy Place dot com. That's
- 11:50Tim tim at find your Healthy Place dot com. And Erica writes it.
- 11:54Just after many years on birth control pills, I decided to switch to an
- 11:58alternative following research into the potential long term effects. Since making this change,
- 12:05I've experienced much more painful periods than before. Could you offer any suggestions for
- 12:09managing this increased discomfort? And that email is from Erica. Yeah, Erica
- 12:16is such a good question. This is a common one. Folks in our
- 12:18community will come in and they are either kind of curious about some of the
- 12:24side effects of birth control, or they've done a little research themselves and they're
- 12:28a little bit concerned. So just if you're listening, you have loved one
- 12:31yourself. You're just curious. You know. There's when you take birth control,
- 12:33there's like an inhibiting of ovulation. There's a thickening of cervical mucus.
- 12:37There's altering of something called the uterine lining, and that leads to or can
- 12:41lead to, different hormonal imbalances, nutrient depletions, gut health impacts natural menstrual
- 12:50cycle deviation, so it can change and effect you know, painful cramping for
- 12:56example, Painful periods like these are all a part of what you can see
- 13:01when you take birth control. So our job at the Healthy Place isn't to
- 13:05tell folks really what to do or not to do. That's, you know,
- 13:09their medical professionals and ultimately it's up to them. You know. I'm
- 13:13working towards educating Dane County, Like I have this passion and dream to see
- 13:18our community being the CEO of their own health, having wonderful specialists sort of
- 13:22all around them, the experts and the guides and those that have gone to
- 13:28school for this or that, and they take in all that information and they
- 13:31make a perifol decision for their own health. Like that's that's our job.
- 13:35So people come to us, we'll just try to educate, We'll try to
- 13:37give information and then if they are experiencing some of these side effects like like
- 13:41erica here, you know there's things, there's natural alternatives that you can do
- 13:46to help alleviate some of those issues. So a product called get Even.
- 13:50Get Even by Lively Vitamin co is one of our favorite. It's our top
- 13:54seller by a lot. And specifically when you when you talk about the pain
- 14:00conversation, there's three ingredients herbs that I like to call out. Ginger soothes,
- 14:05digestive upset, monthly abdominal pain in women experiencing menopause menstruation, dim is
- 14:11in there. D im this assists in managing painful cramps heavy flow while in
- 14:18encouraging healthy balance overall. And then don Qui is a uterine tonic that can
- 14:24help relieve painful cramping blood flow. What I like most about the formula though,
- 14:28there's several other herbs in there too that are specific to normalizing the system.
- 14:35So if you picture you know, birth control coming in the system and
- 14:37you know, creating a bit of a storm, you know a bit of
- 14:41a environment that you know life cannot begin within that storm. So when that
- 14:50has gone on for ten years, fifteen years, and a young woman is
- 14:54trying to get off and trying to get pregnant, for example, there is
- 14:58a number of issues that and remain and so you want to bring balance to
- 15:01that system. You want to bring a normalization like when your levels are too
- 15:05high, you know, it even brings it down, and then when your
- 15:09levels are too low, your hormonal levels, it brings it up. So
- 15:11it's a balancing formula. Women feel the difference on this in the first twenty
- 15:15four to forty eight hours and I highly recommend it to Erica great questions this
- 15:18morning. Don't forget As always, Tim is available for you Tim at find
- 15:22your Healthy Place dot com wellness consultants as well, whether you go into the
- 15:24West Side location Fitchburg or Sun Prairie online find your Healthy Place dot com.
- 15:30That's fined your Healthy Place dot Com. It's got about a minute left in
- 15:33this week's program, Tim, and as mentioned, I know a lot of
- 15:37folks are waking up and saying, you know what I want to start twenty
- 15:41twenty four off right. I want to do something great for my friends and
- 15:43family. It's never a bad time to start that journey is it, you
- 15:46know, No, I'd highly encourage you if you're listening right now, you
- 15:50know, maybe you're listening for a reason, like your health matters, and
- 15:52your life matters, and your loved ones health in life matters, and just
- 15:58taking a little step to ask a question at the healthy place. It can
- 16:02be tim ad Apple, Timadfinder, healthy place dot Com. It could be
- 16:06coming into our stores. It could be going to our website find your Healthy
- 16:10place dot com, hit in that chat feature and asking the question there,
- 16:14or it could be you going to another store. It's not like about coming
- 16:17to the healthy Place. Like my purpose here is to encourage you to become
- 16:22the CEO of your own health, to ask a question that can really ultimately
- 16:26change a life. So if you have any health condition, any health issue
- 16:30that you have in your life, I would challenge you in the coming weeks
- 16:34to just ask the question like what natural alternative, what supplement can help this,
- 16:40and watch our team of wellness consultants make a recommendation and such a high
- 16:44percentage of the time it'll create enough difference that you'll be like, Okay,
- 16:48I'm a believer. This was cool, And then it impacts and can have
- 16:52the ability to change the rest of your life. And so that would be
- 16:53my challenge to you. And with that I'd say a happy Holidays, Merry
- 16:56Christmas, in the happy New Yearsmiths to you as well, Tim, and
- 17:00we look forward to another year of doing this each and every week. And
- 17:04don't forget it's always a great day. As we talk with Tim, you
- 17:07can see the passion, you know, the passion. There is a genuine
- 17:11caring for our community and caring for your health and it runs throughout the Healthy
- 17:15Place. It is a fantastic day to get on in. They'd love to
- 17:17see your smiling face, whether it's West sid of Madison, Fitchburger's, Son
- 17:21Prairie and online finds your Healthy Place dot com. That's fined your healthy Place
- 17:25dot com. Tim, It's always great, my friend. You enjoyed this
- 17:26beautiful day, you too, my man, Thanks so much. News comes
- 17:30your way next here on thirteen ten Wuiba
