- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Have a good time driving around this morning with all the fog and all the construction if you're in Shimon County because every inch of every road is being paved right now.
- 0:09SPEAKER_02: And um And I noticed too yesterday I was meeting somebody for an exchange on something.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: You know, it's Facebook Marketplace or one of those groups.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's how you cover up your dealers uh side of it.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: That's right, that's right.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: And I had to tell her I was running late because of all the paving everywhere.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, it no, you're that's a legitimate excuse.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: It's very difficult to get around.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Now, I know the end game of this is great, but I've mentioned this over the years, time and time again, and this is why I need to be the leader of the free world.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Of course, yes.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Why we wait to the very last minute is beyond me.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: You have from May until, well, almost November 1st.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: You couldn't have done one of these roads in June and another one in July and another one in August and another one, you know, and maybe not, you know, everybody and not everything all at once.
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: Maybe it's the hot weather.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Sweating is a little bit of good hard work for somebody, all right?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: You chose that not for you.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: But you're also not out there in a yellow shirt choosing that job.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: No, I'm here in this dainty little studio.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: All comfortable with the stupid AC on right now.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: With all my accoutrements.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: So, but you know, if you do and and believe me, some of those construction folk, you know, make some pretty good money, so don't you feel too bad that they're sweaty.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Do they really?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't I guess I need a different job.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Well, you never know.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: You could put the ass in asphalt.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Ozempic.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Ozempic.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: It is literally the hottest drug, the popular diabetes and weight loss drug, Ozempic.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: It's not a substitute for weight loss, Peter.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: How are you staying in shape these days?
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Well, that's Ozempic.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: When I look around this room, I can't help but wonder, is Ozempic right for me?
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: I had to- Well, that's a good question.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Is Ozempic right for me?
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: I had to formulate my answer.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: And actually, there's a text that helped uh formulate my answer.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: Long and the short of it is uh this uh friend neighbor, but really leaning more towards the friends of this couple.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: 12-year-old is not gonna go on a very quick out-of-town trip.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter reasons and all that, but so they're gonna stay with the friend neighbor.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: And the 12-year-olds due for a GLP one shot while the parents are gone.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Question is, can I tell the parents I'm not giving the kid the GLP one shot?
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: Because I don't agree that your 12-year-old's on one.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, they don't subscribe to the whole thing and they're just not comfortable with it.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: You know, Pony Joe offers a really great suggestion.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: What if he's taught by his parents how to give himself one while they're away?
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: This would be the time to do it because eventually you should be teaching your kid how to do it if this is gonna be the route that you guys go.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Because this probably won't be the first or last time you're in this situation where you're not around to help him give him a shot.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's I I mean, okay, but that doesn't necessarily well, it kind of answers the question.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, she wants to know can she tell him, I'm not gonna give him the shot.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: I don't believe your 12-year-old should be on this GLP one.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: No, no, no.
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's her place to say that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: She can just say, I'm not comfortable with giving a shot to a kid.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: 8608 even said, I feel comfortable giving the the 12-year-old the oral GLP ones, but too many things could go wrong with the shot.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't want to be responsible for that.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: As do you want to hear what they say for the moral side of things?
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Sure, yeah.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: As for the moral side of things, I'm seeing younger and younger kids get bariatric surgery, which is irreversible.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: I'd rather have the appetite suppress it.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: Anyway.
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: I uh I still I I've never seen the 12-year-old, so I couldn't tell you much.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: You know, but it's not your traditional type 2 diabetes, which usually develops by 40.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: You know, I mean, let's be real.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying you can't get it.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: I I don't know.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: I've never heard of a 12-year-old can get type 2.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I guess if they're morbidly obese at a young age, okay.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: And I think that's happening more and more.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: I well, I think it's been going on, it's been a downhill slide since the 90s, really.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, um, I mean, when I was growing up, I hate to put it this way, and I'm sorry if this sounds really crass.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: We only saw one or two fat kids here and there.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Now I was one of them.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: And and now, yeah, but you know, as then as the decade grew on in the 90s, I mean I'm talking about 70s and 80s.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: Either that or we just didn't feed our families.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: But uh, you know, as the 90s came in, highly processed, things like that, things changed.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: You know, work schedules.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Work schedules change, both parents out of the house.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: You're at your own devices of ho-hos, and you know, the the list goes on and on.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: At 12 year old, 12 years old, there is the chance that some of this could be family related.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: If mom and dad are both to use my mom's phrase, big boned.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, I heard that a lot when I was a kid.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, husky, if she was husky.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Oh big bone.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Um so um uh if if if the parents are by nature also genetically, you know, big boned, I'll call them beefy people, you know.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: I could see where a piece of that genetically could fall on the child.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Do I love the idea of a 12-year-old on a GLP one?
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Then the other part to the problem here really comes down to but if it does something now and it prevents them from having major health problems later, then I understand the reason behind it.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: But then I'm teaching them and hopefully teaching them to be in that calorie deficit.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: That's a big hope.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Because I don't necessarily I think a lot of people use GLP ones.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: This is my own personal feeling.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: You can tell me to screw off.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: I don't care, Doug.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Uh but uh um We found you and now we're picking on you.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Uh but I feel a lot of people use it at a younger age w because, well, it's it's the lazy man's way out.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm sorry, it's just you know, I there are people that do it because, well, look at your dad.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's a a better example of a person, you know, he's late 60s, he's not exactly gonna be pumping 310 at a gym.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Uh so but I think with a 12-year-old, there was either a mix of bad genetics, I'll call it bad genetics, but you know, genetics and possibly some very bad habits that led to it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm sure.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: So it's it's like 50-50.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: It's like, all right, if you're doing it now to catch up, I uh that's fine.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: You know, get him on the right course, which I hope.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: Um I that that was the purpose of it from the beginning, anyway, was the GLPs were teaching you how to eat less calories.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: It's a matter of do you continue it after?
- 6:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know if this person will or not.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: I you know what?
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: I don't have a problem with her telling her friends I'm not comfortable administering the shot while you're gone.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Can it wait?
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: Leave it like that.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: If you want to keep the friendship, you know, where it is, and you don't want to get into a big theoretical discussion of whether your 12-year-old should be on it or not, just leave it at.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: You know, I'm just not comfortable.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Can you do it before you go or write it when you get back?
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: I think there are other people who would agree.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Giving a kid a shot a little scary.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, very I think that's very scary.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: That's the thing that scares me the most.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: If you're not used to it, then you know if you if you grew up with a kid with type 1 diabetes and they had insulin every day, this is no nothing new to you.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: I exactly.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: I think to save your friendship, because I'm sure you also need this neighbor to watch your kids sometimes.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: Then you should just keep it at I don't feel comfortable taking the show.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Can you do it before or after?
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: And maybe leave your opinions out.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: I'll handle those.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: Ha ha
