- 0:52Speaker 5: he would want to.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Go see there.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It's too much of the pain. Yeah, I'd putting up
- 0:57Speaker 1: with humanity. I wonder if the real health conscious people
- 1:01Speaker 1: have V eight's in vodka.
- 1:02Speaker 3: So real healthy people just like mix it with water
- 1:05Speaker 3: V eight no water and alcoholic.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Oh, they're called alcoholics.
- 1:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Do you know there was a public relations person I
- 1:12Speaker 1: think she was with the Dolphins. Her name was Fudge Brown,

- 1:31Speaker 7: Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a
- 1:35Speaker 7: Toyota dot com.
- 1:38Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:42Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium. It's Deuce, it's Tamaraw, it's Evan, it's Paul,
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's me, it's Matt full House. Today it's a big
- 1:49Speaker 1: day because today's cut day. By four o'clock or so,
- 1:54Speaker 1: the Patriots have to get down to fifty three and
- 1:58Speaker 1: then they'll announce their practice squad. So it's really what
- 2:01Speaker 1: sixty five? Now, how many do you have in sixteen sixteen?
- 2:05Speaker 1: So it's sixty nine.
- 2:07Speaker 4: So at any moment, someone could just walk in here
- 2:09Speaker 4: and cut one of us, right, just send us, not
- 2:11Speaker 4: for us, so just the players.
- 2:13Speaker 8: Funny you should say that, because I thought there was
- 2:15Speaker 8: a chance. Yesterday, as Bill was walking into the studio
- 2:19Speaker 8: to do some stuff for All Access, you came out
- 2:22Speaker 8: kind of stopped, hey, Paul, and you kept going. I
- 2:25Speaker 8: was like, wow, maybe to another one. That's that's good.
- 2:30Speaker 1: But yes, cuts are today and they've already started to
- 2:32Speaker 1: announced announcing cuts. They had eleven I think eleven.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We have thirteen. We're up to thirteen yes day. Yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 3: they cut two guys yesterday, eleven guys the day before.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And you got a couple of the trades. And you're
- 2:45Speaker 3: a peer strong in right, yeah out, I mean, yeah, so.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Well we should. Let's let's talk about the Pierre Strong trade. First, Uh,
- 2:55Speaker 1: what do you think about that?
- 2:57Speaker 4: I think you reap what you sew at the tackle position,
- 2:59Speaker 4: and if you don't want to address it and you
- 3:00Speaker 4: miss on draft picks, and you know, you sign a
- 3:03Speaker 4: bunch of veterans that have never really played or beyond
- 3:06Speaker 4: the you know, I mean, I just don't think any
- 3:09Speaker 4: of us are surprised. How do we We spent all
- 3:11Speaker 4: spring talking about the tackles, like me and even went
- 3:14Speaker 4: to the comment, we're like the tackles. We need tackles.
- 3:16Speaker 4: We've been saying it for a while. And even with
- 3:18Speaker 4: the trades that they made, they're two guys that haven't
- 3:20Speaker 4: really played their developmental prospects. So you still have Trum
- 3:23Speaker 4: Brown on the last year of his deal. So I
- 3:26Speaker 4: don't know. I don't know how it's all to come together.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Maybe one of these guys turns out to be a
- 3:29Speaker 4: gem that they can you know, snatch from from the
- 3:32Speaker 4: jaws of defeat and find an actual serviceable right tackle
- 3:35Speaker 4: for for early in the season. But it seems like
- 3:37Speaker 4: they don't trust any of those you know, sw or
- 3:40Speaker 4: so sorry you know, to play right tackle out of
- 3:43Speaker 4: the game.
- 3:43Speaker 1: This guy, Tyrone Wheatley, is he the guy that was
- 3:46Speaker 1: way overweight and did videos about getting back into.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Shape and I think so he was a tight end.
- 3:52Speaker 1: He was a tight end for a long okay, oh yeah, yeah, okay,
- 3:56Speaker 1: it was a veteran.
- 3:57Speaker 8: Yeah, this guy's just coming into it like he's never
- 3:59Speaker 8: been on a even a rush.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Okay, but he's like twenty seven too, he's not Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 8: He's older, but he's never never played, never played it
- 4:05Speaker 8: down and he made a transition from tight end right. Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 8: I feel like it's been slow.
- 4:11Speaker 5: I feel like this goes back to kind of what
- 4:13Speaker 5: we were saying like all off season, like I wish
- 4:14Speaker 5: they would stop trying to find these diamonds in the
- 4:17Speaker 5: rough and these developmental guys and just get someone who's
- 4:20Speaker 5: already good, like go out there and spend money on
- 4:23Speaker 5: someone who is good.
- 4:24Speaker 1: A lot of people are saying the same thing.
- 4:27Speaker 3: It is so annoying.
- 4:28Speaker 4: That's what I just don't care, is why, Like, I
- 4:30Speaker 4: get you need tackle death, but why don't I mean,
- 4:32Speaker 4: and and why not maybe wait to see someone who
- 4:34Speaker 4: gets caught. Maybe there's someone who actually has played in
- 4:36Speaker 4: the league that you know, you feel.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Well, they could have got this guy from the Cardinals
- 4:39Speaker 1: for for cheap money, right.
- 4:41Speaker 4: I mean, that's that's one option.
- 4:43Speaker 8: I mean, you could have probably spent less on Josh
- 4:46Speaker 8: Jones than you did for these two peers, which probably
- 4:49Speaker 8: the same as the second guy.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Who was on my top fifty big boards. So I
- 4:56Speaker 4: was I didn't go.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That's a Patriot connection right there, Brett b.
- 5:01Speaker 4: There we go.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Well, and you know, I heard there's you know, speaking
- 5:06Speaker 1: of trades. I heard the Patriots are you know, looking
- 5:09Speaker 1: at offers for Nick Folk. That was reported earlier, confirmed
- 5:14Speaker 1: later by Jeff Howe. So what what?
- 5:20Speaker 4: Nothing? Nothing at all?
- 5:21Speaker 9: No?
- 5:21Speaker 1: So so I think everything's on the table right now,
- 5:25Speaker 1: you know.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I understand with Folk. I mean a
- 5:27Speaker 4: lot of teams are scrambling for a kicker right now,
- 5:29Speaker 4: and I don't know. It's it's a it's a great
- 5:31Speaker 4: debate to have. I've seen I don't know.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Who wrote Baringer won the bearer jobs.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Seems to have won the although I never get when
- 5:38Speaker 4: people are like, he could come Corles Swaman could come
- 5:40Speaker 4: back to the practice squad. I'm like, so are you
- 5:42Speaker 4: saying that you think he's going to or just that
- 5:44Speaker 4: it's a possibility, like I I you know, like.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Are they trying to imply that, like total, any of
- 5:48Speaker 1: these guys that got cut back to practice.
- 5:50Speaker 8: We all understand that if these guys get cut, most
- 5:54Speaker 8: of them are you know, most of them are younger guys,
- 5:57Speaker 8: they could come back to the practice squad. My guess
- 5:59Speaker 8: is if they've gotten cut already, that's probably not the case.
- 6:03Speaker 8: And I use Bill I thought had a really interesting
- 6:07Speaker 8: answer in terms of the timing of the cuts, the
- 6:10Speaker 8: transactions when he was asked about this yesterday and he
- 6:13Speaker 8: went in and he basically said, Fred, you and I
- 6:16Speaker 8: have thought about this all along. You know, these guys
- 6:20Speaker 8: have worked really hard, and we think it's you know,
- 6:23Speaker 8: it's worth it for them to have a chance to
- 6:24Speaker 8: get out there at times when we know and you
- 6:28Speaker 8: have a chance to get out there a little bit
- 6:29Speaker 8: early and maybe you know, your agent gets a little
- 6:31Speaker 8: more time, even if it's twelve hours whatever. Yeah, my
- 6:36Speaker 8: guess is if that's the reason why the guys the
- 6:40Speaker 8: timing of you know, the the Carl Davis's, the quotestments,
- 6:44Speaker 8: those kinds of guys, because quote, I mean Weightment's been
- 6:47Speaker 8: in the league a little bit, like he has actual
- 6:49Speaker 8: punting experience. Maybe he is doing them a solid, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 8: get out there and have a chance. Now I'm not
- 6:55Speaker 8: telling you he can't come back to the practice squad.
- 6:57Speaker 8: Maybe no one's interested in they say, hey, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 8: he's worth using one of my sixteen spots. But I
- 7:03Speaker 8: don't think, based on Bill's answer to that question yesterday morning,
- 7:07Speaker 8: that that would be something in the plan if they
- 7:09Speaker 8: wanted him back in the practice, like really wanted him.
- 7:12Speaker 8: I think they wait and try to bury it with
- 7:14Speaker 8: the other thirteen hundred or so guys that are going
- 7:17Speaker 8: to get released at four o'clock.
- 7:19Speaker 1: No, but I think you know, guys that get cut early,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I think it is doing them a solid because you
- 7:24Speaker 1: get out there, you know first, and other teams can say,
- 7:27Speaker 1: oh he's available, you know, I'll pick him up and
- 7:30Speaker 1: you know that makes a decision that you know easy
- 7:33Speaker 1: for them, that you know they don't have to wait.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the it's like the young guys that they
- 7:37Speaker 4: hold on to, the guys that they've drafted, the you know,
- 7:39Speaker 4: the Josh Bledsoe types of the world that you know,
- 7:41Speaker 4: Sean Wade's guys who are on the bubble, And yeah,
- 7:43Speaker 4: you know they probably would like to keep in house
- 7:45Speaker 4: with a practice squad, but they try to hide him.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Like Paul said it at four with the onslaught of
- 7:50Speaker 4: all the releases that happen at once.
- 7:51Speaker 8: So ye see again, I'm not like, I'm not I
- 7:54Speaker 8: don't want to be like added when weightman gets added
- 7:58Speaker 8: to the pract Like I'm not telling you that that's
- 8:00Speaker 8: not a possibility. I think it is. But I think
- 8:03Speaker 8: if it was a priority, they would have waited.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So what's Strong gone? The running back room is Stevenson, Ezekiel, Elliott, Elliott,
- 8:18Speaker 1: We're just gone by first names, Elliott, J. J. Taylor, Harris,
- 8:24Speaker 1: David Harris. I knew that.
- 8:30Speaker 3: And whatever and whatever time Montgomery.
- 8:34Speaker 1: But the willingness to get rid of Strong, can you
- 8:38Speaker 1: read into maybe Montgomery is going to come back.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I guess what he's been pcting.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I just think with Montgomery it's like, can we trust
- 8:46Speaker 4: him to stay healthy?
- 8:47Speaker 8: Thing?
- 8:47Speaker 4: You know, and you'd love to keep some insurance for him.
- 8:49Speaker 4: I don't know. I was just surprised. I thought, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 4: based on not much, I thought Strong was better than
- 8:54Speaker 4: Kevin Harris. I didn't think Kevin Harris did too much
- 8:56Speaker 4: this year, didn't have a lot of blocking. But I
- 8:58Speaker 4: don't feel like he really was able to produce anything
- 9:00Speaker 4: on his own. But I was kind of still intrigued
- 9:02Speaker 4: by Strong, and when he came back, I'm like, all right,
- 9:04Speaker 4: maybe maybe they have some some plans with to at
- 9:06Speaker 4: least keep him on ice.
- 9:07Speaker 1: For well, you know the way they featured him late
- 9:09Speaker 1: in that game. Now you think maybe they were just
- 9:11Speaker 1: putting tape out there so that, hey, you know he can.
- 9:15Speaker 1: He can.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Wasn't great tape.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You got a couple good plays, you got finger whacked.
- 9:23Speaker 1: He had a couple of plays.
- 9:25Speaker 8: Pretend it's made.
- 9:27Speaker 3: So I really Bill shot it down with Pierre Strong
- 9:29Speaker 3: yesterday when Mike Reasee asked him about the scheme changes
- 9:32Speaker 3: and if the different offensive coordinators played a role. But
- 9:35Speaker 3: he was an outside zone runner in college, and then
- 9:39Speaker 3: they came here. They were trying to do the outside
- 9:41Speaker 3: zone thing last year didn't end up working out, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: then Bill O'Brien is installing a completely different run system
- 9:47Speaker 3: now and just watching Pierre Strong try to read out
- 9:50Speaker 3: the plays that they're in front of him in the
- 9:52Speaker 3: scheme that they're running now, just a lot of downhill stuff.
- 9:55Speaker 3: It just looked like a round peg in a square hole,
- 9:58Speaker 3: Like he just didn't really seem to know where he
- 10:00Speaker 3: was going and running into the back of blockers instead
- 10:03Speaker 3: of into daylight and things like that. So I thought
- 10:06Speaker 3: it was more about the details with him. He's a
- 10:08Speaker 3: talented kid, like he can run, he's got a you know,
- 10:11Speaker 3: good lateral quickness, but in terms of a vision and
- 10:15Speaker 3: the details of the passing game, I think he was
- 10:18Speaker 3: pretty far away from what they needed him to be.
- 10:21Speaker 3: But I don't lament to Pierre Strong. Thing the tackle
- 10:25Speaker 3: situation is it's an impending doom. Like you, it's the
- 10:30Speaker 3: same thing with Patricia last year. Like you, we all
- 10:33Speaker 3: knew that this wasn't gonna work. Like everybody knew that
- 10:35Speaker 3: this wasn't gonna work when they went into when the
- 10:39Speaker 3: draft was over and their options at right tackle were
- 10:42Speaker 3: Connor McDermott, Riley Reef, Calvin Anderson and you know, switching
- 10:47Speaker 3: positions with City Cell. Yeah, their bodies there, their names
- 10:51Speaker 3: there in the hat, but none of those names were
- 10:54Speaker 3: any short of short thing like we and we knew
- 10:58Speaker 3: that this was gonna happen, and then people that blame
- 11:00Speaker 3: it on injuries, like this was already spiraling before the
- 11:04Speaker 3: injuries started to pile up, Like Riley Reef was already
- 11:07Speaker 3: moving inside the guard, carn McDermott was already getting passed
- 11:09Speaker 3: by Citiso on the depth chart. This was already a
- 11:12Speaker 3: problem a week into camp, and we all saw it coming.
- 11:17Speaker 3: So I just am so confused as to what the
- 11:20Speaker 3: plan was there and why if us Layman's can see
- 11:24Speaker 3: that they don't have enough tackles, what was the plan
- 11:28Speaker 3: internally at the tackle?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Some people you can think you can find offensive linemen anywhere,
- 11:32Speaker 1: so it's not that.
- 11:35Speaker 8: Do you actually have to have them. I would agree
- 11:37Speaker 8: with you in theory, Fred, like it's the same thing
- 11:40Speaker 8: with the Pierre Strong. I'm not going to get all
- 11:42Speaker 8: upset about Pierre Strong because I'm gonna stay true to
- 11:46Speaker 8: myself and say he's a running back and I think
- 11:48Speaker 8: they have enough running back. I think you know, when
- 11:50Speaker 8: Zeke got signed, Yeah, it made somebody expendable. It turned
- 11:53Speaker 8: out to be strong. I would have thought they would
- 11:55Speaker 8: have kept him and tried to see if they could
- 11:57Speaker 8: incorporate some of those passing game elements. And to them,
- 12:00Speaker 8: I agree with Evan. It doesn't look like it's all
- 12:02Speaker 8: that natural for him in that regard. But I am
- 12:05Speaker 8: a little surprised they ended that experiment so quickly. But
- 12:09Speaker 8: in terms of the offensive line, yeah, I agree that
- 12:12Speaker 8: you can find them. They never looked like their solution
- 12:16Speaker 8: is to just put guys out like just say, well,
- 12:20Speaker 8: you know someone will work. We're gonna throw We're gonna
- 12:23Speaker 8: throw bodies at it. We're gonna have Riley Reef and
- 12:27Speaker 8: Conom McDermott and Calvin Anderson. And if that doesn't work,
- 12:30Speaker 8: we're gonna change positions from a guy in college. And
- 12:34Speaker 8: if that doesn't work and then we get banged up
- 12:36Speaker 8: a little bit, we'll just go and take two guys
- 12:37Speaker 8: that have never really played in the NFL. Like this
- 12:41Speaker 8: is what the plan was. That's what they Their plan
- 12:45Speaker 8: was to just throw bodies at it and hopefully one
- 12:46Speaker 8: of them works. Yeah, Like I agree, Fred, Like, I'm
- 12:50Speaker 8: not trying to be like an alarmist. I think you
- 12:53Speaker 8: can find offensive linemen, but they're not really looking for
- 12:56Speaker 8: like true answers that offensive line.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I think you could do that when Scarnekio was here
- 13:01Speaker 3: and was taking Steven Neil and turning him into his
- 13:03Speaker 3: starting caliber tackle or a guard. Excuse me, but I
- 13:07Speaker 3: so long that took by the way, like like use
- 13:11Speaker 3: your name, like insert Dante you know groom tackle here right,
- 13:16Speaker 3: Like you could take a million of those guys and
- 13:19Speaker 3: say that that that used to happen. They used to
- 13:21Speaker 3: turn them out like crazy here. I don't know if
- 13:23Speaker 3: Adrian Clem is up for that. I don't know if
- 13:25Speaker 3: they're ready to do that again. And you look at okay,
- 13:28Speaker 3: so what could they have done differently? There were six tackles,
- 13:32Speaker 3: five of them that changed teams in free agency that
- 13:34Speaker 3: are all better than the guys that you have now.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Orlando Brown, Caleb McGarry, Juwan Taylor, Mike mcglinchy, and Wiley
- 13:41Speaker 3: from Kansas City who started in the Super Bowl last
- 13:44Speaker 3: year for them. These were all guys that were out
- 13:46Speaker 3: there for just as free agents in March. Jones that
- 13:50Speaker 3: they could have signed and they didn't. And then we
- 13:53Speaker 3: get to the draft, and you know, we were talking
- 13:55Speaker 3: about this upstairs. Why isn't Dewan Jones a patriot? Like
- 13:59Speaker 3: why why is Jake Andrews a patriot in the fourth round?
- 14:03Speaker 3: But Dewan Jones, who is a Trent Brown clone in
- 14:06Speaker 3: a good way from Ohio state, three hundred and sixty
- 14:09Speaker 3: pound right tackle prospect, who's killing it right now in Cleveland,
- 14:14Speaker 3: and is the reason why you have Tyrone Wheatley because
- 14:17Speaker 3: he was expendable on the Browns roster because of Dewan Jones.
- 14:20Speaker 3: And now the Browns have three starting tackles and because
- 14:24Speaker 3: they have two starters and they have Dewan Jones, we loved.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Everybody here was all about Dewan Jones. And he falls
- 14:31Speaker 3: to you in your lap in the fourth round of
- 14:33Speaker 3: the draft, and you took a developmental backup center over him.
- 14:37Speaker 3: So what's your intel? Like, I know they're not gonna
- 14:40Speaker 3: tell us, but clearly there was something on Dewan Jones
- 14:44Speaker 3: that they had that they felt like he wasn't a
- 14:46Speaker 3: fit here for whatever reason, football character, whatever the case
- 14:50Speaker 3: may be. But meanwhile, he's had a fantastic preseason and
- 14:53Speaker 3: he's gonna start in Cleveland.
- 14:54Speaker 4: I just like, if this all comes on top of
- 14:56Speaker 4: the fact that Trent Brown is the one you're holding up,
- 14:58Speaker 4: it's like, well, we have that spot locked down, Like
- 15:00Speaker 4: Trent Brown, the guy that you didn't you know, that's
- 15:02Speaker 4: jumping a false start that you can't count. I mean,
- 15:04Speaker 4: it's I don't know, like what's it going to look
- 15:07Speaker 4: like week eight, nine, ten legs?
- 15:08Speaker 1: And how much pressure does this put on Adrian Klem
- 15:11Speaker 1: You know.
- 15:12Speaker 8: That's that's Evan's point.
- 15:13Speaker 4: But it's like, how much talent are they get?
- 15:16Speaker 8: And I want to go back to the development, you
- 15:18Speaker 8: know with Dante, And I think this goes back to
- 15:22Speaker 8: something that Bill really believed in Cleveland with Pat Hill,
- 15:25Speaker 8: the former Fresno state coach. I think he's the former
- 15:27Speaker 8: Presno state coach. He's not still there anymore anyway, Pat Hill,
- 15:31Speaker 8: who was the offensive line coach in Cleveland, they had
- 15:34Speaker 8: something they called the offensive line development program that Dante
- 15:36Speaker 8: was outstanding with continuing in New England when when Bill
- 15:41Speaker 8: got here, and there were countless examples of practice squad
- 15:45Speaker 8: promotions that three years down the line. It's not just
- 15:49Speaker 8: Steven Neil who never played the sport before it's guys
- 15:52Speaker 8: like Tom Ashworth and Brandon Goren that were serviceable tackles,
- 15:56Speaker 8: not great, not great players, but it it took years
- 16:01Speaker 8: for that to happen. You're asking these guys, like I've
- 16:06Speaker 8: heard a lot of people, and some of them, I
- 16:08Speaker 8: believe it or not, I have respect for who have
- 16:10Speaker 8: suggested that there's a chance that Vederian Lowe could be
- 16:14Speaker 8: the starter at right tackle on week one. Right now,
- 16:17Speaker 8: I don't think that will happen, but some people that
- 16:20Speaker 8: aren't just throwing it out there have suggested that that
- 16:24Speaker 8: would be the equivalent of Steven Neil starting as a
- 16:28Speaker 8: rookie or let's say a first year player he had
- 16:32Speaker 8: one year under his belt on the practice squad. That
- 16:35Speaker 8: would be this guy has played thirty three snaps or
- 16:37Speaker 8: something like that, played thirty three snaps and you're going
- 16:42Speaker 8: to just plug him in as the starter a week
- 16:44Speaker 8: into the you know, before this week and a half
- 16:47Speaker 8: before the season. Does that sound like a recipe for success, Welldhia,
- 16:52Speaker 8: it takes these guys a long time, is basically my
- 16:56Speaker 8: bottom line. I mean, you can develop them, but it's
- 16:58Speaker 8: not going to happen in a blink.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I know they love and when you I think that's
- 17:03Speaker 1: the answer at guard. But you know, are they thinking
- 17:07Speaker 1: we'll kick him out to tackle? And I don't know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: Chason Hines is getting a lot of love from people.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, Jason Dines has been pretty good in the preseason,
- 17:14Speaker 3: and obviously Mafi's been solid too, So yeah, I mean,
- 17:17Speaker 3: if that's right, that's the solution, then sure, but they've
- 17:20Speaker 3: been reluctant to do that, and they've said publicly that
- 17:23Speaker 3: on when he was settled in at guard. That's exactly
- 17:26Speaker 3: what mac Ro said after the draft. Now circumstances are
- 17:29Speaker 3: different now and maybe they feel like they need to
- 17:31Speaker 3: push it a little bit. But I just want to
- 17:33Speaker 3: continue to reiterate that their options were not good. Like
- 17:37Speaker 3: take the injuries in the preseason out of it, their
- 17:40Speaker 3: options were not good. I've been saying for for months
- 17:43Speaker 3: since they signed him that I thought Riley Reef last
- 17:46Speaker 3: year was bad at tackle for the Bears. He didn't
- 17:49Speaker 3: even start in Chicago until midway through the season of injuries.
- 17:52Speaker 3: He was a backup, and he wasn't good at tackle
- 17:55Speaker 3: last year for Chicago. Then he comes here in a
- 17:57Speaker 3: week into padded practices, he's already playing guard because he
- 18:00Speaker 3: can't handle the foot speed on the outside, so these
- 18:04Speaker 3: options were not good. And I listed all of the
- 18:07Speaker 3: names that were available in free agency. I forgot Andre Dillard,
- 18:09Speaker 3: who was the one guy that they reportedly actually went after,
- 18:12Speaker 3: and they got outbid by the Tennessee Titans again for
- 18:16Speaker 3: a player that would have been easily a Day one
- 18:20Speaker 3: starter here for the Patriots at either tackle spots.
- 18:23Speaker 8: And most of those guys that Mike and Evan are
- 18:26Speaker 8: talking about. Orlando Brown was a high level, big money signing.
- 18:31Speaker 8: Mcglinchy probably, but like some of these other guys weren't
- 18:35Speaker 8: necessarily breaking the bank. Guys and you guys all talked
- 18:39Speaker 8: about Josh Jones with the Cardinals. It basically cost you
- 18:43Speaker 8: the equivalent of what it cost you to get low
- 18:45Speaker 8: a sixth round. I think they switched spots in the
- 18:48Speaker 8: I think fifth, fifth, and seventh, so it's basically like
- 18:51Speaker 8: a sixth rounder. You moved up from the seventh to
- 18:53Speaker 8: the fifth round to get Josh Jones, who has at
- 18:58Speaker 8: least started. He's a little bit like Calvini Anderson right,
- 19:02Speaker 8: He's had some starting experience in the league. I don't
- 19:05Speaker 8: think it would have taken, you know, an eighty million
- 19:08Speaker 8: dollar contract to improve the tackle spot.
- 19:10Speaker 5: I mean, but if if there was a tackle out
- 19:13Speaker 5: there that's worth the money I would have paid for.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Especially when you have a quarterback like Mac Jones who
- 19:18Speaker 5: already had a bad year, It's like, don't you want
- 19:20Speaker 5: to put the foundation around him so that he can
- 19:23Speaker 5: have a better year this year? Because I mean, even
- 19:25Speaker 5: with a great offensive coordinator, if you don't have a line,
- 19:27Speaker 5: I mean, how are we really going to see a difference, Like,
- 19:29Speaker 5: especially if he's getting.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Destroyed once again, we'll be like, well, you can't blame
- 19:33Speaker 1: you back, and you go. He'll have his built an excuse.
- 19:37Speaker 1: But I'm still sticking by if he's a good quarterback,
- 19:40Speaker 1: he's got to it's got to be obvious that it's
- 19:43Speaker 1: not his fault. And unless we see that, then he's
- 19:46Speaker 1: gonna get Joe.
- 19:47Speaker 8: So I just want everybody to be intellectually honest about it, right,
- 19:52Speaker 8: because I haven't heard anybody defend Bailey Zappi's performance against Tennessee.
- 19:57Speaker 1: No, right, No, the Bailey Zappi fever broke.
- 20:00Speaker 8: So if it's the and he didn't play well, no,
- 20:04Speaker 8: I know he wasn't protected well, he didn't play well.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I watched the game. There were times where he did have.
- 20:10Speaker 8: Time, but I watched the game and he just wouldn't
- 20:11Speaker 8: get rid of them all. But I think the same
- 20:13Speaker 8: performance would have been perceived a lot differently had been.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Back and he We're not surprised at McSorley got cut, right. Uh,
- 20:24Speaker 1: who's rumoring that Zappi is in trade time?
- 20:28Speaker 8: No, No one's really rumoring that he's in trade talks.
- 20:30Speaker 8: People are speculating that they might need an upgrade at
- 20:33Speaker 8: backup quarterback and could could Zappy go if they got
- 20:36Speaker 8: to see? That?
- 20:38Speaker 3: To me in Zapie's defense, and you guys all know
- 20:40Speaker 3: I'm not a Zappi guy.
- 20:41Speaker 8: No, and I'm not.
- 20:42Speaker 3: You know that that's a bridge too far to me.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I think Zappi is still a very serviceable backup quarterback.
- 20:48Speaker 3: I think what we learned this summer in practice and
- 20:51Speaker 3: in the preseason is that he's probably not a starting quarterback,
- 20:54Speaker 3: which he kind of already knew anyways, at least most
- 20:57Speaker 3: most people, right. So, I think that the the Joe
- 21:00Speaker 3: Murrays of the world that told us that we were,
- 21:02Speaker 3: you know, saying we were lying about a quarterback competition
- 21:07Speaker 3: in the summer. Here in the preseason, I think we
- 21:10Speaker 3: can all put that to bed. Yeah, Like Mac Jones
- 21:13Speaker 3: is clearly a better quarterback than Bailey Zappy, but I
- 21:16Speaker 3: still think Bailey Zappy can be a surfaceable backup. If
- 21:19Speaker 3: he's playing with the starters and they're crafting the game
- 21:22Speaker 3: plans around him being in the game and the play
- 21:24Speaker 3: calling and things like that, then I think it would
- 21:26Speaker 3: look a lot different than it did against Tennis Centon.
- 21:28Speaker 8: That's what Mike and I were talking about in the
- 21:29Speaker 8: post game the other night, like, yeah, this was we're
- 21:32Speaker 8: not sugarcoating it. Zappy was in the bad list, right, Yeah,
- 21:36Speaker 8: but you know everybody's like, oh, you know, do you
- 21:40Speaker 8: see now see now the different Like, well, no, because
- 21:42Speaker 8: I didn't see Mac Jones play with that same cast
- 21:46Speaker 8: of characters for a whole game and get killed. Like
- 21:49Speaker 8: I didn't see the production being any different. And even
- 21:53Speaker 8: on the better days, like the second day in Green Bay,
- 21:57Speaker 8: you guys are telling me there was some plays that
- 21:59Speaker 8: you know he got it off, but maybe it wouldn't
- 22:02Speaker 8: have been the same way. So, like the protection is
- 22:05Speaker 8: an issue, whether it's the first unit or the third
- 22:08Speaker 8: unit that he was playing behind the other day. Three times,
- 22:11Speaker 8: three times, I mean he went, this is not here.
- 22:13Speaker 8: I'm not here to defend Bailey Zappy. He didn't play well.
- 22:16Speaker 8: I just think to use that as your proof. I
- 22:21Speaker 8: haven't seen Mac play at all. It's preseason. He played
- 22:25Speaker 8: three series.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Yeah, just the offensive line for either quarterback is going
- 22:30Speaker 3: to be a problem. But it's been a trickle down effect.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Like we're talking about how their injuries on the starting
- 22:36Speaker 3: offensive line and Mac is working with Mafi and so
- 22:39Speaker 3: and those players in the lineup, Well, imagine what it's
- 22:41Speaker 3: doing to the twos and the threes if like you're
- 22:43Speaker 3: already elevating those guys, you know, now we're really talking
- 22:46Speaker 3: about like Micah Vanderpool getting pulled off of what was
- 22:50Speaker 3: the XFL or something like that, and now he's, you know,
- 22:53Speaker 3: starting in front of Bailey's Appy in a preseason game.
- 22:55Speaker 3: So I think it's added even maybe potentially an even
- 22:58Speaker 3: bigger effect. I'm gonna effect on the guys that Zappi
- 23:01Speaker 3: has been working with, even than the guys that Mac
- 23:04Speaker 3: was has been working with. And I just when you
- 23:07Speaker 3: talk about building depth, you know, to Tamara's point about
- 23:09Speaker 3: like going out and buying a brand name and free
- 23:12Speaker 3: agency guys like Riley Reef and Connor McDermott and City
- 23:16Speaker 3: So changing that's good depth. Those were their options to
- 23:19Speaker 3: start at right tackle week one from the KICKO that right,
- 23:23Speaker 3: that's not those guys should have been. Okay, we have
- 23:27Speaker 3: you know, Orlando Brown, we have Juwan Taylor and Trent Brown.
- 23:31Speaker 3: But Riley Reef we brought him in as our sixth
- 23:33Speaker 3: offensive lineman and if we had an injury, then he
- 23:36Speaker 3: can play guard, he can play tackle, and he can
- 23:38Speaker 3: play four different spots. And that's good depth. That's your
- 23:40Speaker 3: Ted Carris right of this year's group. And then you
- 23:44Speaker 3: go back down the line of you know, Connor McDermott.
- 23:47Speaker 3: You can still draft City So in the fourth round
- 23:49Speaker 3: and develop him at tackle, but now he's your third
- 23:52Speaker 3: or fourth tackle on the depth chart instead of your
- 23:54Speaker 3: second tackle on the depth chart. So their their problem
- 23:57Speaker 3: at tackle is not depth. They they've had this summer.
- 24:01Speaker 3: They don't have a frontline guy outside of maybe Trent Brown.
- 24:04Speaker 3: And I think we're still all skeptical of what Trent
- 24:07Speaker 3: Brown is going to bring to the table too.
- 24:09Speaker 8: And that's the slot thing, you know, with Tamara's plan
- 24:11Speaker 8: of getting so now you have let's just say Mike
- 24:14Speaker 8: mclinchy Okay.
- 24:16Speaker 5: I would have loved that.
- 24:16Speaker 8: So now you have him, and you're gonna have him
- 24:19Speaker 8: probably for the next three years if you would sign
- 24:20Speaker 8: him to a free agent deal, right, and then when
- 24:24Speaker 8: you draft all these guys like Evan just explained, they're
- 24:27Speaker 8: there to take Trent brown spot next year when he's gone.
- 24:31Speaker 8: That's how it's supposed to work. Instead, they just decided, well,
- 24:34Speaker 8: we'll figure it out on the goat. Now I agree
- 24:37Speaker 8: with you, Fred, I think it's going to be a
- 24:38Speaker 8: win you. I wrote that this morning, and I know
- 24:40Speaker 8: I'm not the only one. A lot of people have
- 24:41Speaker 8: been writing about a when you at tackle, I think
- 24:45Speaker 8: he'll be fine if he plays tackle. He ain't ready
- 24:47Speaker 8: to play tackle in Week one. He hasn't done anything
- 24:50Speaker 8: all off season. Yeah, right, So that's not an ideal
- 24:54Speaker 8: situation either. In addition to the fact that you're probably
- 24:57Speaker 8: going to have a guy making his debut at guard
- 25:01Speaker 8: next to him.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And against a team against the Eagles that.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I have to worry about them because they don't have
- 25:08Speaker 3: much of a defensive line. It's not even the just
- 25:11Speaker 3: the Eagles. You're the first four month, first month of
- 25:14Speaker 3: the season, you might be going up against the four
- 25:16Speaker 3: best fronts in football. You have the Eagles, you have
- 25:18Speaker 3: the Dolphins, you have the Jets, and you have the Cowboys. Yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 3: I heard someone who's going to block Micah Parsons in
- 25:23Speaker 3: this group soround battle. I think on ninety eight five
- 25:26Speaker 3: was talking about this yesterday, and you know a lot
- 25:29Speaker 3: of people have made a big deal. Well, all the
- 25:30Speaker 3: quarterbacks they have to face, the pass rushes they have
- 25:33Speaker 3: to go against this year are pretty formidable.
- 25:38Speaker 1: You better have a blitz killer ready to go.
- 25:42Speaker 5: I'm just like confused. I'm like, again, both at this
- 25:45Speaker 5: position and wide receiver, It's like, why are we just
- 25:48Speaker 5: getting a bunch of depth but not actually like a
- 25:50Speaker 5: guy like.
- 25:51Speaker 3: The guys at least a wide receiver. They have NFL players, right,
- 25:54Speaker 3: they don't have NFL tackles like they know. That's the
- 25:57Speaker 3: biggest thing. Is like, that's why I'm second guess to
- 26:00Speaker 3: tackle approach much more than the receiver approach because they
- 26:03Speaker 3: have three Juju, Parker and Borne are three NFL caliber
- 26:08Speaker 3: receivers that would be on any roster across the league.
- 26:10Speaker 3: I'm not sure that Connor McDermott is on a roster right.
- 26:13Speaker 8: Riley Reef is the only quote unquote NFL player out
- 26:17Speaker 8: of that group, and he might just be done. He
- 26:20Speaker 8: might just be done. I mean, he was on Cincinnati
- 26:22Speaker 8: in Chicago the last two years, couldn't stay to at
- 26:25Speaker 8: either one, and both had among the worst offensive lines
- 26:29Speaker 8: in football in those particular.
- 26:31Speaker 1: That's the line. Did Calvin Munson earn himself a job
- 26:36Speaker 1: on this team?
- 26:37Speaker 8: Yeah? I mean I don't know if he has. We'll see.
- 26:41Speaker 8: I mean, I we talked about Mac Wilson last week.
- 26:44Speaker 8: The three of us all kind of agreed, yeah, that
- 26:47Speaker 8: he was a little shaky. I thought Munson was active,
- 26:50Speaker 8: but as a linebacker, you know, No, I'm wondering as
- 26:54Speaker 8: a special teamer, and I think they were sort of
- 26:56Speaker 8: looking at those couples.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Well, what about in Wilson. I mean, Wilson's role was
- 27:01Speaker 1: spot played depending on the situation. Could he do that?
- 27:05Speaker 8: I don't think so.
- 27:06Speaker 9: No.
- 27:06Speaker 8: I think he's more of a traditional like kind of Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 4: I just think that was a preseason game.
- 27:11Speaker 8: He played the way back up kind of like Tavia
- 27:13Speaker 8: back up kind of thing. I don't think he's a
- 27:16Speaker 8: like I don't think. I mean, listen, I'm not amos
- 27:18Speaker 8: Alonzo Stack. I don't look at him as a sub
- 27:21Speaker 8: a sub option.
- 27:22Speaker 4: No, And I mean he's just one of those bets.
- 27:23Speaker 4: He's been around, He's kicked back and forth between here
- 27:25Speaker 4: and Miami and practice squads. Like I don't, I don't
- 27:27Speaker 4: think you need to save a roster spot for him.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I mean, he's one you could just That's.
- 27:31Speaker 3: My thing with Calvin Bunson's of the world is like there.
- 27:34Speaker 3: So they cut DeMarcus Mitchell and Jordan Heally a couple
- 27:37Speaker 3: of weeks ago, and I took that as a sign
- 27:39Speaker 3: that maybe they're not going to carry as many of
- 27:41Speaker 3: these kicking game aces as they do normally. So you're
- 27:45Speaker 3: obviously gonna have Slater and I think Brendan Schooler is
- 27:48Speaker 3: going to make the team too. But other than those
- 27:50Speaker 3: two guys, unless you want to count like a Chris
- 27:52Speaker 3: Board or somebody like that, Yeah.
- 27:54Speaker 8: I would count board and say that's three that I
- 27:56Speaker 8: would think most people agree on.
- 27:58Speaker 6: Yah.
- 27:58Speaker 8: Is there a fourth? I don't know.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I don't.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I don't think there should be a fourth, is my point.
- 28:03Speaker 3: And hopefully that them cutting to Marcus Mitchell and Helig
- 28:07Speaker 3: was a sign that they are looking at it and
- 28:08Speaker 3: saying can't really return kickoffs anymore? And you know, we're
- 28:12Speaker 3: all the things that we've talked about, with special teams
- 28:14Speaker 3: getting legislated out and fewer and fewer special team snaps,
- 28:18Speaker 3: you hope that maybe they're going to adjust the roster
- 28:21Speaker 3: construction accordingly.
- 28:23Speaker 8: Okay, I think the two young cornerbacks Bolden in speed
- 28:27Speaker 8: will probably you know in that conversation.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But are we still looking at three tight ends because
- 28:33Speaker 1: Sicki's back, Henry's getting better. I don't know, and I.
- 28:38Speaker 8: Don't know for the you know today, when we find out,
- 28:41Speaker 8: I wouldn't be surprised if it's just two with the
- 28:45Speaker 8: intention of adding somebody else. Now, there are some tight ends,
- 28:48Speaker 8: you know. Albert Oh got released today by Debt. He's
- 28:50Speaker 8: a guy. He's a guy that I love now for
- 28:53Speaker 8: computerly selfish reasons. I'm praying that they don't because I
- 28:56Speaker 8: don't want to have to spell that name all the time.
- 28:57Speaker 8: I know I'll butcher it just Albert. Yeah, I mean
- 29:00Speaker 8: I can't really write that though.
- 29:01Speaker 3: That's what we're going to write official stands.
- 29:06Speaker 8: My guest is somebody you know who's uh, they'll have
- 29:10Speaker 8: three tight ends. I just don't know exactly how they'll
- 29:12Speaker 8: do it. Well, they cut socle and Ferkser and try
- 29:16Speaker 8: to get one or two of them on the practice squad.
- 29:18Speaker 8: Will they add a guy, you know off a wave?
- 29:20Speaker 8: I mean, Albert oh is pretty athletic. I don't know
- 29:22Speaker 8: if he fits, like in my mind what they need
- 29:25Speaker 8: and they need a more physical sort of well.
- 29:28Speaker 3: So I looked it up as to some of his
- 29:31Speaker 3: like where he played in Denver and stuff, and he
- 29:33Speaker 3: played all in line like he's not. I looked at
- 29:36Speaker 3: him as more of like a Kasiki type that was
- 29:38Speaker 3: this really good athlete that could play in the passing game.
- 29:41Speaker 3: But I never really thought of him as like an
- 29:43Speaker 3: inline blocker. And is he According to PFF he had
- 29:47Speaker 3: a decent grade in terms of blocking. But I haven't
- 29:50Speaker 3: watched this, that's to my guest. I haven't watched his
- 29:53Speaker 3: tape to know if like that was, you know, stuff
- 29:56Speaker 3: more detached from the formation where he's just kind of
- 29:58Speaker 3: blocking corners and see deer, if he was really going
- 30:01Speaker 3: up against edge defenders and kicking those guys out and
- 30:04Speaker 3: stuff like that. So I don't know, But I never
- 30:06Speaker 3: thought of him in college in terms of a draft
- 30:09Speaker 3: prospect as a blocking tight end. I thought of him
- 30:12Speaker 3: as a guy that runs like a four to four
- 30:14Speaker 3: at two hundred and fifty pair.
- 30:15Speaker 8: That's how I have always thought of him, even that
- 30:17Speaker 8: game I think we played. Do we play Denver in
- 30:19Speaker 8: the I think we played Denver in the twenty twenty
- 30:24Speaker 8: the Pandemic You. I don't know why the name pandat.
- 30:27Speaker 8: I think he was a rookie in that game, and
- 30:29Speaker 8: he had a couple of chances to make plays and
- 30:31Speaker 8: dropped a couple.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Of He's also been injured.
- 30:34Speaker 8: Has he had a monster preseason game the other day
- 30:39Speaker 8: the other day and I thought to myself, he must
- 30:42Speaker 8: be on the roster. My media thought was like, yeah,
- 30:44Speaker 8: I think he had like over one hundred yards receiving
- 30:47Speaker 8: on like eight or nine catches in a preseason game.
- 30:50Speaker 8: So what my immediate thought was he was not long
- 30:52Speaker 8: for Denver.
- 30:53Speaker 3: You know they have a good depth tight end.
- 30:55Speaker 1: The way Bill was talking about Booty, is he on
- 30:58Speaker 1: the team or is he just pumping him up for
- 30:59Speaker 1: me be a trade.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I think he's on the team me too.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Did you see that he was like getting stuff mounted
- 31:05Speaker 5: in his apartment. Everyone was like, Oh, I guess he's sick.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Oh he's buying he's playing buying green ban I guess.
- 31:11Speaker 8: That's exactly myself.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I think he's on the team.
- 31:16Speaker 8: I think I think he'll stay, but I don't think
- 31:18Speaker 8: he should be buying Green.
- 31:19Speaker 1: B and cunning him. Does he stay as a wide
- 31:23Speaker 1: receiver or developmental quarterback on the practice squad?
- 31:26Speaker 3: Practice squad?
- 31:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I think practice squad. I don't think he's a
- 31:29Speaker 4: receiver though I think that's I don't.
- 31:31Speaker 8: Think he I mean, I have absolutely no idea what
- 31:34Speaker 8: they're going to do with him. I think quarterback, but
- 31:36Speaker 8: I don't know roster, practice squad. I don't know what
- 31:40Speaker 8: they're planning.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he's been a good sport about it. But if
- 31:42Speaker 3: I was only Cunningham, I would be a little irked
- 31:44Speaker 3: by how I was used in the in the preseason,
- 31:48Speaker 3: you know. I I'm sure he probably would have gotten
- 31:50Speaker 3: a series in that Green Bay game if the game
- 31:52Speaker 3: had had continued. But he's a quarterback, like he's not
- 31:56Speaker 3: a receiver. And if he was able to play quarterback
- 31:58Speaker 3: the entire preseason and have all that film at quarterback,
- 32:02Speaker 3: I think it changes the trajectory for him, Like he
- 32:06Speaker 3: either is on this team or he's probably claimed by
- 32:09Speaker 3: another team. If he played quarterback the whole time.
- 32:12Speaker 1: All right, and I didn't even get into the secondary,
- 32:15Speaker 1: but I think I'm feeling still pretty good about the secondary.
- 32:19Speaker 8: I think, well, I feel pretty good about the safeties.
- 32:23Speaker 8: I'm not sure about the corners. But it is a
- 32:25Speaker 8: good sign that Jonathan Jones is back out practicing, which
- 32:29Speaker 8: is in line with what Karen Grigian reported about a
- 32:31Speaker 8: week ago that he was projected to be ready to
- 32:34Speaker 8: go week one. So's that to me is huge. But
- 32:37Speaker 8: I think there's still the uncertainty with Jack Jones and
- 32:39Speaker 8: now a lot of people. I don't know how you
- 32:41Speaker 8: guys feel, Mike Tamara and Evan. Does that mean anything
- 32:45Speaker 8: for Sean Wade? You know, has he made any kind
- 32:47Speaker 8: of a push. I thought he initially was having a
- 32:50Speaker 8: pretty solid camp. I didn't like the way he played
- 32:52Speaker 8: in the games as much, you know, so I don't
- 32:55Speaker 8: know if there's a spot for him.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Yeah, just looking at Jack Jones, remember Brandon Browner played
- 33:00Speaker 3: him in the in the last preseason game because he's
- 33:02Speaker 3: suspended for the first four games of the year. Watching
- 33:05Speaker 3: Jack Jones out there in Tennessee gave me.
- 33:07Speaker 8: I said that to a stunt how many it's like
- 33:11Speaker 8: they they know something.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Yeah, And he also did not play, Well.
- 33:14Speaker 8: No, he didn't play. So he played like a guy
- 33:16Speaker 8: who was irritated that he was on the field.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, or had something in his mind that wasn't football,
- 33:22Speaker 3: you know. And I I wrote in game mobs for Raison,
- 33:25Speaker 3: like Jack Jones a better football player than that, Like
- 33:27Speaker 3: he should not be getting dusted by third and fourth
- 33:30Speaker 3: string practice squad receivers and stuff like that, like he's he's.
- 33:33Speaker 8: Better than I would just throw out there. And you know,
- 33:36Speaker 8: sometimes I'm guilty of making too much of it. But
- 33:38Speaker 8: when you start to see group think developing, and I
- 33:42Speaker 8: read that a lot over the weekend and into like Monday,
- 33:47Speaker 8: various roster projections with Sean Wade Judu Jack Jones's uncertainty. Now,
- 33:54Speaker 8: about a week and a half ago, I was on
- 33:55Speaker 8: ninety eight five with Beatle and and Hardy and I meant,
- 34:00Speaker 8: Jack Jones is uncertainty and they interrupted, what do you
- 34:03Speaker 8: mean uncertainty? And I was like, well, I don't know
- 34:05Speaker 8: is he going to be available to play? They all
- 34:07Speaker 8: just felt like it was a foregone conclusion that he's
- 34:10Speaker 8: going to be available. Yeah, So now all of a sudden,
- 34:13Speaker 8: people are writing the uncertainty around Jack Jones, which tells
- 34:16Speaker 8: me that somebody knows something, and you know how that goes.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Once one person maybe they were just listening to you.
- 34:22Speaker 8: One person says it, and then all of a sudden
- 34:25Speaker 8: it becomes a thing, and then everybody starts to say, oh, yeah,
- 34:27Speaker 8: that's right. You know, friends, Because I think there's a
- 34:29Speaker 8: chance that he might be able to be on the
- 34:33Speaker 8: team initially, but that when that whatever the hearing is
- 34:36Speaker 8: is in September. Now it's between week one and two. Yep,
- 34:39Speaker 8: who knows what's going to come out of that.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I still think I've been saying all along. I still
- 34:44Speaker 3: think that the league suspension that day would happen. You
- 34:49Speaker 3: don't have to be guilty in the court of law
- 34:50Speaker 3: and it gets suspended by the NFL. And the optics
- 34:53Speaker 3: of what he did, regardless of if Rose Capaccio works
- 34:57Speaker 3: her magic or not, is not not not going to
- 35:00Speaker 3: go over well in New York.
- 35:02Speaker 1: So all right, A five to five pass five hundred
- 35:06Speaker 1: is the ACE ticket hotline. Web radio at Patriots dot
- 35:09Speaker 1: com is the email address. Tonight is the Patriots Premier,
- 35:13Speaker 1: which is the big event for the Community Relations Department,
- 35:16Speaker 1: the big fundraiser. It's mandatory all the players have to
- 35:20Speaker 1: be there, and they sit at different tables with people
- 35:23Speaker 1: who bought tables, and there's like a little stage show.
- 35:26Speaker 1: I think Zoe's involved, perhaps, I think. So see up there, yeap,
- 35:31Speaker 1: And they'll announce the Ron Burton Award tonight, the person
- 35:34Speaker 1: who did the most in the community this year, and
- 35:38Speaker 1: we'll talk to him, right, yeah, tomorrow, we'll have that
- 35:41Speaker 1: first one on one with the Ron Burton Award winner tonight.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So stuff to look forward to tonight.
- 35:47Speaker 8: Remember one hundred years ago when we were part of that.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we used to do the PFW Annual Awards and
- 35:52Speaker 1: I would get up there one year with Chris Berman
- 35:55Speaker 1: and we gave out like, you know, if it was
- 35:57Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, we'd give out the nineteen ninety eight awards,
- 36:01Speaker 1: you know, Defensive Player of the Year, rookie, the whole thing.
- 36:03Speaker 1: And then Bill said, no, no, yeah, right, that's that's
- 36:06Speaker 1: last year. We're not doing that anymore.
- 36:09Speaker 8: That's not surprising.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but we'd have plaques made and we'd give them
- 36:13Speaker 1: to the player.
- 36:14Speaker 3: No Rookies of the Year, Oh my gosh, that's funny.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Yeah, back in the day, No, because me, Fred and
- 36:20Speaker 1: Brian one of these.
- 36:24Speaker 4: That one I was I was.
- 36:26Speaker 8: I was, I was young.
- 36:27Speaker 4: My my sister got to go to it one year
- 36:29Speaker 4: as part of like I might have been through something
- 36:30Speaker 4: I was blogging, but she sat with with your guy
- 36:32Speaker 4: Josh Boyce and and couldn't get over how much he
- 36:35Speaker 4: hated sushi, Like he didn't want anything to do with sushi,
- 36:39Speaker 4: Like that was what he's like.
- 36:40Speaker 8: Oh man, John, just a nice kid takeaway.
- 36:42Speaker 4: That was like sushi? What could have been?
- 36:45Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the phones. Uh the East
- 36:48Speaker 1: ticket utline. Todd's in North Carolina. What's up Todd?
- 36:52Speaker 10: Hey, guys, talking to my seven year old. We were
- 36:54Speaker 10: having a little bit of problem with my dad eighty
- 36:55Speaker 10: seven and being in the hospital stuff. He said, well,
- 36:57Speaker 10: how do we keep going? I said, hope. I think
- 36:59Speaker 10: that the same thing we got this year. I didn't
- 37:01Speaker 10: feel it last year, but I still have hope for
- 37:03Speaker 10: this team. I can feel like there's some pieces in
- 37:05Speaker 10: place and things are building, and it's giving me hope.
- 37:09Speaker 10: Even with the old line. They addressed it finally. I
- 37:11Speaker 10: know it took them a while, but they seem to
- 37:13Speaker 10: be going in the right direction.
- 37:14Speaker 3: What do you guys think did they address it? Sorry
- 37:17Speaker 3: about your dad?
- 37:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I always I always hesitant to to, you know,
- 37:24Speaker 8: conflate real life with sports. But yeah, I mean I
- 37:28Speaker 8: think if you don't have hope, if you're a fan
- 37:30Speaker 8: of any team right now, when you don't have hope
- 37:32Speaker 8: on the eve of the season, I don't know why
- 37:34Speaker 8: you're a fan of just other team, So you should
- 37:37Speaker 8: have hope. But I just would wonder exactly I have hope?
- 37:40Speaker 8: What are the specific I have hope?
- 37:42Speaker 3: I have hope and hope and one man and one
- 37:44Speaker 3: man only.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, I have I go in back Jones,
- 37:47Speaker 1: I go into this season with hope but no expectation.
- 37:50Speaker 3: It's not even mac Jones yourself, Bill O'Brien. Bill O'Brien
- 37:54Speaker 3: is my only hope.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Do you think he can take this offensive line that
- 37:58Speaker 5: he has right now and scheme something up.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he could if as long as it's
- 38:02Speaker 3: only one spot. If you're telling me that they're going
- 38:05Speaker 3: to be down multiple guys Week one against Philly, then
- 38:07Speaker 3: I'm gonna say they're gonna get shell ACKed. But if
- 38:09Speaker 3: it's one spot, I think that they can figure it out.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Uh, let's go to Willem and Phelim. What's up, William?
- 38:16Speaker 6: What's up?
- 38:17Speaker 11: Fred? How you doing?
- 38:17Speaker 6: All right?
- 38:18Speaker 8: This will be the opposite of hope.
- 38:21Speaker 11: Yeah, I hear you. So let's pick up what we
- 38:25Speaker 11: left off at. Shall we remember the conversation and then
- 38:29Speaker 11: Douce charm didn't on it.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Too, so that we like to you and Andrews, and
- 38:32Speaker 4: you were up. You didn't like that.
- 38:34Speaker 11: Look, I'm let me be fair and let me be honest. Okay, Look,
- 38:38Speaker 11: I'm not negative. I just see this stuff.
- 38:41Speaker 6: You know.
- 38:41Speaker 11: I'm stuff that you're reporting and stuff I listened to you,
- 38:44Speaker 11: I listen to other podcasts. I'm listening to everything. Okay,
- 38:47Speaker 11: It's just I'm just concerned, fellas. You cannot be there's
- 38:52Speaker 11: no way you can't beat until the call and it
- 38:54Speaker 11: just called. I don't have no hope like that. I mean,
- 38:56Speaker 11: let me let me explain it to you real fast. Okay.
- 38:59Speaker 11: So you had he's in the draft, correct?
- 39:01Speaker 4: You had?
- 39:01Speaker 11: You didn't like darn On right, Paris Johnson? Who else
- 39:06Speaker 11: was there? Dwan Jones? You played around with the Jets though,
- 39:09Speaker 11: and you gave Rod Jones to the Steels. Okay, I
- 39:12Speaker 11: like I Look, I'm a fan of our Christian guns dies.
- 39:15Speaker 11: I get it. But you didn't even want to you
- 39:17Speaker 11: didn't want to get to Wine Jones in the fourth round,
- 39:19Speaker 11: but yet you took what cards us kickers. Do you
- 39:23Speaker 11: understand what I'm saying?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Oh?
- 39:24Speaker 8: Yeah I do. I do, And yeah, I mean I
- 39:27Speaker 8: think that I like, Look.
- 39:28Speaker 11: I know, if I went back to forth with y'all
- 39:30Speaker 11: on Friday or Daddy, whatever we're with, y'all need to understand.
- 39:33Speaker 11: You just understand it. From my point, I'm passionate about
- 39:36Speaker 11: this team. I'm tired of Bill's swim. Maybe he just
- 39:38Speaker 11: don't have I like, I just have identity for offense.
- 39:43Speaker 11: He's a defensive group, you know what I mean, hands
- 39:46Speaker 11: down to him, you know what I mean. But maybe
- 39:47Speaker 11: he just don't he cannot identify offensive talent, you know
- 39:52Speaker 11: what I mean. And it's I know, I just go
- 39:55Speaker 11: back to what I said again, since Tom left, what
- 39:58Speaker 11: you've done lately? What have you done now?
- 40:01Speaker 8: Yeah, the concerns, I think that's very legit. You know,
- 40:04Speaker 8: I don't know how you I mean, you can have
- 40:05Speaker 8: hope and still be concerned. I mean, I don't think
- 40:08Speaker 8: those two things are mutually exclusive. And I understand where
- 40:11Speaker 8: both of the last two callers are coming from. Just
- 40:14Speaker 8: you can't possibly look at this team and just say, well,
- 40:17Speaker 8: they got everything all set, you know, it's not going
- 40:19Speaker 8: to worry about can't Yeah, okay, y'all.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Take care, all right, thanks. You know, I saw that
- 40:27Speaker 1: movie Oppenheimer, and it kind of reminds me of that.
- 40:32Speaker 1: You know, like they're building this weapon that's never been
- 40:35Speaker 1: used before, and the first time they use it will
- 40:39Speaker 1: be the first time and no one really knew what
- 40:42Speaker 1: was going to happen. That's kind of the way it
- 40:44Speaker 1: is with this offense. You know, it'll be kind of
- 40:48Speaker 1: the first time with Bill O'Brien, and you know, the
- 40:51Speaker 1: way it's constituted, we have no idea. There's really nothing
- 40:54Speaker 1: to go on about like how they're going to do.
- 40:57Speaker 8: And I could absolutely envision in sort of a you know,
- 41:02Speaker 8: a reasonable period early, you know, in the first half
- 41:05Speaker 8: of the season where they're doing a good job of
- 41:08Speaker 8: identifying weaknesses for the opponent and attacking them and having
- 41:12Speaker 8: good schemes and good, good sequences, and then eventually the
- 41:18Speaker 8: talent wins out and you figure out And I think
- 41:20Speaker 8: that that's largely what we saw two years ago, where
- 41:24Speaker 8: the offense was okay and then eventually, like you sort
- 41:28Speaker 8: of run out of ways to have Jacoby Myers, throw
- 41:30Speaker 8: a pass to somebody and set a pick for this
- 41:33Speaker 8: guy and figure out, how can we consider Like I
- 41:37Speaker 8: thought we even saw signs of it, albeit with secondary personnel.
- 41:43Speaker 8: How many slants have they they thrown in this preseason
- 41:46Speaker 8: and then by the third quarter they would just slam
- 41:49Speaker 8: in the crap out of every slant against Tennessee. Now,
- 41:53Speaker 8: I get it's a preseason game. It's not a traditional
- 41:57Speaker 8: game plan. You're just running. But I think that they
- 42:01Speaker 8: I think their game plans are going to involve our pos,
- 42:04Speaker 8: slants off of those, and then some deep shots, yeah,
- 42:07Speaker 8: you know, mixed in. I think r Po is a
- 42:09Speaker 8: tough on offensive lineman, so your offensive line is struggling
- 42:13Speaker 8: a little bit to protect. I don't think that's a
- 42:15Speaker 8: good way to help them. So I think they'll have
- 42:19Speaker 8: some success when they're with the newness of what they're doing.
- 42:23Speaker 8: Then the question will be how do they sustain it?
- 42:25Speaker 4: Do you think? I was just thinking to Fret's point
- 42:27Speaker 4: is this is the least you've ever seen, not just mac Jones,
- 42:30Speaker 4: but like a starting offense and start like I feel
- 42:34Speaker 4: like of the preseasons.
- 42:35Speaker 8: I don't want to I don't want to say the
- 42:37Speaker 8: two thousand and eight, Brady didn't take a single snap
- 42:39Speaker 8: the entire preseason and we all know what happened ten
- 42:42Speaker 8: minutes into the.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Season, but the rest of the guys did.
- 42:45Speaker 8: Yeah, but they didn't. You didn't get to see the
- 42:47Speaker 8: first offense is duces point.
- 42:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 4: And what was the questioning like with Bill on that,
- 42:50Speaker 4: Like does he just be like, well, we're just doing
- 42:52Speaker 4: what's best of the team, Like, you know, why aren't
- 42:54Speaker 4: you playing Tom at all?
- 42:54Speaker 8: This year he had I don't remember specifically, but I mean, yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 8: I know he dealing with an injury in that in
- 43:03Speaker 8: that summer. This year, I wonder if the conventional thought
- 43:07Speaker 8: that a lot of us have been using is like
- 43:09Speaker 8: he didn't want he didn't feel like comfortable enough to
- 43:11Speaker 8: put him out there based on the personnel that was
- 43:14Speaker 8: that was going to be with them. And I think
- 43:18Speaker 8: that's worrisome, you know, the last the last two years.
- 43:21Speaker 8: You know, I'll use last year because rookie year isn't fair.
- 43:24Speaker 8: Last year he played in that third preseason game significantly,
- 43:29Speaker 8: and and and.
- 43:30Speaker 1: They didn't do well, and he stayed out a little longer,
- 43:33Speaker 1: so they probably wanted it.
- 43:34Speaker 8: So it's not like, well, Bill doesn't believe in playing
- 43:36Speaker 8: his front line guys in the third preseason and we
- 43:38Speaker 8: just saw him do it last.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Year, right, Well, what changes was it? Injury? Was it?
- 43:42Speaker 4: You felt like, you know, last year it was just
- 43:44Speaker 4: a tonnage issue with all the joints practices in preseason
- 43:47Speaker 4: games and then traveling to Miami early, and we're trying
- 43:49Speaker 4: to think that.
- 43:51Speaker 8: I think he didn't. I think he took some hits
- 43:53Speaker 8: in that in that Green Bay game, and I think
- 43:57Speaker 8: he didn't want to risk it.
- 43:58Speaker 4: It's a new offense. He got three rives in a
- 44:00Speaker 4: preseason game and those and albeit those two joint practices,
- 44:03Speaker 4: which was a high volume of stuff, but still it's
- 44:06Speaker 4: not within the flow of the game, and you know,
- 44:08Speaker 4: like it's hard to establish kind of a real rhythm.
- 44:11Speaker 1: It's you know, it'll be different when you have a
- 44:13Speaker 1: red jersey on in practice. Oh yeah, it changes your mindset.
- 44:17Speaker 1: They can't hit me, no, and I don't have to
- 44:18Speaker 1: worry about that.
- 44:19Speaker 4: There were so many times too in that Green Bay
- 44:21Speaker 4: practice where you know, we're talking about passes on both
- 44:23Speaker 4: sides where you see the defensive end get by and
- 44:26Speaker 4: tap the quarterback on the butt and kind of celebrate
- 44:28Speaker 4: and then the past comes out and it's beautiful and
- 44:30Speaker 4: everyone's like, oh my god, you know, both sides, it's just.
- 44:32Speaker 8: And what the ptice setting sort of clouds a little bit.
- 44:36Speaker 8: Is even when you want to say, like even if
- 44:38Speaker 8: you're watching it closely and you're doing it quote unquote right,
- 44:41Speaker 8: and you're saying, okay, that fifty yard pass to Parker,
- 44:44Speaker 8: that wouldn't have happened. That was a sack. Okay, But
- 44:46Speaker 8: then you go to the next play and they just
- 44:48Speaker 8: run the next play, but you don't say the next
- 44:52Speaker 8: play was third and nineteen right right, because he got
- 44:55Speaker 8: sacked on second and tent, you know what I mean.
- 44:57Speaker 4: So even thensequences for correct and build on it, you
- 45:00Speaker 4: don't really have the feeling of or even to the
- 45:02Speaker 4: other flip side, hey we did hit that play. It's
- 45:05Speaker 4: first and ten on the twelve now and we're trying
- 45:06Speaker 4: to score and we feel good and we got to momentum.
- 45:08Speaker 4: It's now we're just right back at the thirty again
- 45:10Speaker 4: and we're you know, trying to run our plays. So
- 45:12Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't know what to expect. I mean,
- 45:14Speaker 4: I think you try to hide in that excitement a
- 45:16Speaker 4: little bit. If you don't know what to expect. But
- 45:18Speaker 4: I think I think the hard part isn't Evan, I
- 45:21Speaker 4: mean laid it all out. Was we just we spent
- 45:23Speaker 4: so much time this off season talking about the tackles,
- 45:25Speaker 4: and it's and that's exactly what has happened. And so
- 45:27Speaker 4: it's it's hard to you know, fake enthusiasm when the
- 45:31Speaker 4: one part you thought was going to be the weakness
- 45:33Speaker 4: has kind of turning out to be the weakness.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, excitement turns to anxiousness. You know, you're
- 45:38Speaker 1: more anxious to.
- 45:38Speaker 4: That defensive line coming in. And I mean, and I
- 45:40Speaker 4: agree with the general point that you know, maybe cole
- 45:43Speaker 4: Strange's is going to be okay this week, and maybe
- 45:45Speaker 4: Michael and whenus okay, and I think you know, maybe
- 45:47Speaker 4: they have four of them, but they're like, as you
- 45:49Speaker 4: pointed out, many times, they missed the whole summer, Like
- 45:52Speaker 4: how can you feel great about you ready to hop
- 45:53Speaker 4: in against Fletcher Cox and company? Like it's you know,
- 45:56Speaker 4: especially when those are guys that even if Cole Strain
- 46:00Speaker 4: and those guys were here the whole time of the summer,
- 46:02Speaker 4: I beat.
- 46:03Speaker 8: And the other thing too, is I don't look at
- 46:05Speaker 8: those two guys the same when you has proven that
- 46:07Speaker 8: he is rock solid, Strange hasn't. You know, we're hoping
- 46:11Speaker 8: Strange takes the year two.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Jump, especially with the power of like Jalen Carter, Flescher
- 46:15Speaker 4: Cox like those guys. That's what troubles him. And you know,
- 46:18Speaker 4: coming off a knee injury kind of hasn't really had
- 46:21Speaker 4: any game action and he got hurt the first day
- 46:23Speaker 4: of pads.
- 46:24Speaker 8: We're keeping Freddie away hungry. Just to add to you know,
- 46:28Speaker 8: some of the stuff that we've been hearing in terms
- 46:30Speaker 8: of the roster construction wide receiver, people still continue to
- 46:35Speaker 8: sort of throw out there that teams are interested in
- 46:37Speaker 8: Kendrick Bourne. I don't know if you've seen any of
- 46:40Speaker 8: this stuff, and I think Jeff Howe another warm day,
- 46:45Speaker 8: well he confirmed that and also said that the Patriots,
- 46:49Speaker 8: you know, haven't really been interested in that, which to
- 46:51Speaker 8: me would make sense. I think Born figures to be
- 46:54Speaker 8: a part of you know, it's born in Parker and
- 46:58Speaker 8: to a lesser extent, Juju, because we haven't seen much
- 47:00Speaker 8: from Juju, and I worry about that knee. But is
- 47:04Speaker 8: it to Mario Douglas, Taekwon Thornton, does he open on
- 47:07Speaker 8: I r like, is he on the team today but
- 47:10Speaker 8: has to get placed on IR tomorrow? Like, I don't know,
- 47:13Speaker 8: I have no idea what to expect from him about.
- 47:15Speaker 8: How do you guys feel about the wide receiver room?
- 47:18Speaker 4: The same kind of thing? I mean, it's it's you know,
- 47:20Speaker 4: there are some new pieces, like I kind of feel
- 47:22Speaker 4: okay with it, and juju, I really do. I mean,
- 47:25Speaker 4: I guess I'm more worried about the other stuff right now.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I feel good about it.
- 47:28Speaker 8: It's prob'ly more worried about the offensive line, but I
- 47:30Speaker 8: don't feel good about it.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I feel good about his targets. I think, I think
- 47:34Speaker 1: it's okay. And I'm including the Mario Douglas in that,
- 47:37Speaker 1: you know, and I think it's one of the ones
- 47:38Speaker 1: I feel the best about. Yeah, I think it's gonna
- 47:40Speaker 1: be okay. But he's gonna need a little bit of time,
- 47:44Speaker 1: you know.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Well that's Douglas. It's like he's one of the only
- 47:47Speaker 4: ones you feel like could get could a theoretically get open.
- 47:51Speaker 1: And I think he's gonna need that binky.
- 47:53Speaker 8: Yeah, well he's not going to be your binkie.
- 47:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 47:56Speaker 8: I mean, that's asking way too much of a kid.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Well, I mean kids done well in the past. I
- 48:02Speaker 1: have hopes. I have hope.
- 48:03Speaker 8: Yes, the fifth overall pick of the draft, like Jamar
- 48:07Speaker 8: Chase has done well in the past. I hope Julian
- 48:10Speaker 8: Edelman it wasn't a binkie his first couple of years.
- 48:13Speaker 12: Uh.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to Bill. Let's hear what Bill's saying.
- 48:17Speaker 13: We'll let you know one if don't want anything happens.
- 48:21Speaker 13: We're a few balls in here.
- 48:27Speaker 8: Are guys gonna practice today? If don't anticipate them making
- 48:32Speaker 8: the team start, are gonna tell them before practice?
- 48:35Speaker 6: How was that gonna work?
- 48:37Speaker 13: Yeah, there's multiple players in multiple different situations and combinations.
- 48:41Speaker 6: So mm hmm.
- 48:48Speaker 14: Go to your your competition few games said, very competive.
- 48:56Speaker 14: You trust the chance to hope her to start the season.
- 49:00Speaker 15: Everybody, it's on our team, I trust, Otherwise it wouldn't
- 49:03Speaker 15: be on.
- 49:03Speaker 6: Our team's best nine.
- 49:10Speaker 15: Kings Comble.
- 49:17Speaker 13: Yeah, well again, whatever the role is. If the players
- 49:21Speaker 13: on our team, then it's because we're comfortable with them doing.
- 49:24Speaker 13: If we aren't, then I wish you find somebody else.
- 49:30Speaker 8: After releasing McSorley yesterday, you feel good about just going
- 49:34Speaker 8: into the season with two quarterbacks are looking to add there.
- 49:39Speaker 13: Yeah, well, Ben, you know, we talk about this every year.
- 49:41Speaker 13: What the roster is today, what it is tomorrow, what
- 49:44Speaker 13: is the next day? Like, there's gonna be changes on
- 49:47Speaker 13: our roster and every other roster in the league. Every
- 49:49Speaker 13: single team will have roster transactions over the next multiple days,
- 49:54Speaker 13: including some up until the day before the opener.
- 49:57Speaker 15: So it's a process, work through it.
- 50:02Speaker 13: Some guys will come back, some guys won't. You know,
- 50:07Speaker 13: we acquire players from another team, two players from another team.
- 50:11Speaker 13: There's multiple things going on. So so I'm not gonna,
- 50:19Speaker 13: you know, comment about where we are aren't today because
- 50:22Speaker 13: the process is far from being over right in the
- 50:25Speaker 13: middle of it.
- 50:29Speaker 15: And not all the players that you would ask about
- 50:31Speaker 15: who aren't here aren't necessarily not gonna be back here.
- 50:35Speaker 15: So see how it goes.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Coach, what did you see from Tyrone Wheatley and Vaderian
- 50:41Speaker 1: Will the making good fits in your system?
- 50:43Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 50:44Speaker 13: Well, acquired both young players. They I think they have
- 50:48Speaker 13: upside and I want to work with them. So put
- 50:52Speaker 13: them out there and see how it goes on.
- 50:54Speaker 16: Those two guys, thought, how much does your scouting report
- 50:56Speaker 16: and there coming out of college in the influence decision
- 51:00Speaker 16: versus what you've seen from them in the NFL, which
- 51:04Speaker 16: probably isn't that much great and they haven't played that.
- 51:07Speaker 13: Much, right, Well, I mean with Wheatley, you know, played
- 51:15Speaker 13: tight end in college, so less on him. I mean
- 51:18Speaker 13: low when I played for five years at Illinois, so
- 51:22Speaker 13: more on him in college. Loose had two years in
- 51:26Speaker 13: the league and played every snap against Tennessee at left tackle,
- 51:30Speaker 13: so some film on him. Wheatley played in pre season,
- 51:33Speaker 13: so none. It's a combination of things. Uh, we have
- 51:36Speaker 13: Wheatley and for uh a workout last year I think
- 51:39Speaker 13: it was. So there's information comes from various sources, college film,
- 51:47Speaker 13: college interviews, pro film workouts, other information we've gathered along
- 51:53Speaker 13: the way so that the Scout department does they do
- 51:55Speaker 13: a good job of it.
- 51:56Speaker 1: So Bill One and Bryce Bearinger kind of your with
- 52:04Speaker 1: your evaluation.
- 52:05Speaker 14: I've never drafted the open ride.
- 52:10Speaker 17: Jusment to the NFL of course last weeks.
- 52:15Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:15Speaker 13: Look, I think any any young player obviously a big
- 52:18Speaker 13: adjustment coming in the National Football League.
- 52:20Speaker 8: Long way to go.
- 52:22Speaker 15: They've experienced some things, they'll all experience.
- 52:25Speaker 13: A lot more how they'll do and other challenges and
- 52:29Speaker 13: more challenges at any position, but especially that position in
- 52:34Speaker 13: New England over the course of the year is going
- 52:36Speaker 13: to be something they'll have to deal with, you know, So.
- 52:41Speaker 15: We'll see.
- 52:43Speaker 13: Certainly in Michigan State had their share of balmy days
- 52:50Speaker 13: as we will, but other ones as well. So, but
- 52:53Speaker 13: I mean it's a whole different. You know, everything's different.
- 52:56Speaker 13: Russia's better, the returns are better. You know, it's harder
- 53:00Speaker 13: to tenements side of the you know, it's everything's harder.
- 53:04Speaker 15: So and that's true for all rookies. See how it goes, really.
- 53:09Speaker 18: See cold strange a couple of times arrival in practice
- 53:13Speaker 18: Nottic obviously expect them to practice today.
- 53:17Speaker 15: Yeah, day to day. We'll see how he is today.
- 53:19Speaker 15: See how it goes.
- 53:20Speaker 9: Bill.
- 53:21Speaker 19: I know previous years we've talked about it difficult. Today
- 53:23Speaker 19: this can't be for players who are not going to
- 53:26Speaker 19: be making this team. I'm wondering if you might share
- 53:28Speaker 19: a little bit about how that process goes for you
- 53:30Speaker 19: and for your status in terms of communicating that with
- 53:33Speaker 19: the players is one on one conversations and anything you
- 53:36Speaker 19: might be able to share about how how challenging a
- 53:38Speaker 19: day this is.
- 53:40Speaker 15: Yeah, well, yeah, it's tough today.
- 53:44Speaker 13: Uh you know, for everyone, we have relationships with players,
- 53:47Speaker 13: some over extended period of time, some less.
- 53:51Speaker 15: But yeah, you know, we talked about it the other day.
- 53:53Speaker 15: It's it is.
- 53:54Speaker 13: It's difficult for everyone. It's difficult on the relationships. But
- 53:58Speaker 13: we all knew this day was coming, and this is
- 54:00Speaker 13: part of the process. And it's a very competitive league
- 54:03Speaker 13: and there's a lot of a lot of very talented
- 54:05Speaker 13: you know players, and they compete and not everybody can you.
- 54:11Speaker 15: Have a spot, So that's difficult.
- 54:14Speaker 13: Again, I would, as always, like I always do, caution
- 54:19Speaker 13: you about, you know, thinking I.
- 54:22Speaker 15: Things are over when they're not necessarily over. On a
- 54:25Speaker 15: lot of levels.
- 54:26Speaker 13: They may not be over here, that may not be
- 54:28Speaker 13: over somewhere else. Players have certainly gone left here and
- 54:31Speaker 13: gone and had careers, and players have been released by
- 54:36Speaker 13: other teams and come here the Rob Ninkovich's of the
- 54:38Speaker 13: world or whatever the you know, tough day for him
- 54:42Speaker 13: and that's the end of his line. And it definitely
- 54:45Speaker 13: wasn't so, you know, it's the stories aren't over here.
- 54:50Speaker 13: This is one step in the process for us and
- 54:53Speaker 13: and the players, and for some it will be. For
- 54:55Speaker 13: others it won't be. And some players that we release
- 54:59Speaker 13: will come back and play for us, be on the
- 55:02Speaker 13: practice squad, and some won't. That's again, we all knew
- 55:05Speaker 13: those numbers and and the math when we started.
- 55:08Speaker 15: I don't know exactly what they'll be. We have general ideas,
- 55:10Speaker 15: So that's that's the way it is every here. But yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 15: it's always difficult to.
- 55:16Speaker 13: Even have to tell the player that he's not going
- 55:17Speaker 13: to be on the roster, he's going to be on
- 55:19Speaker 13: the practice squad, or he's not going.
- 55:20Speaker 15: To be here at all, or whatever it is.
- 55:23Speaker 13: But like I said, unfortunately, that's that's part of the
- 55:26Speaker 13: process what we all signed up for. We knew that's
- 55:28Speaker 13: what it is, and this is one of the days
- 55:31Speaker 13: that it happens.
- 55:32Speaker 15: So yeah, I appreciate it.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Okay, thank you. That was Bill Belichick.
- 55:40Speaker 8: You know, he's, oh, what's it turn you My god?
- 55:44Speaker 1: That was Bill Belichick, and he said, right off the bat,
- 55:48Speaker 1: you know, we have a lot of balls in the air.
- 55:50Speaker 1: There's a lot going on right now.
- 55:52Speaker 8: Well, yeah, they have situations with guys that aren't active
- 55:56Speaker 8: that they have to decide by four o'clock how they're
- 55:59Speaker 8: going to open the season. Cody Davis, Calvin Anderson or two.
- 56:05Speaker 8: I mean, even Trey Flowers I think is still on pup.
- 56:08Speaker 8: Then the health we talked right before we went to
- 56:11Speaker 8: Bill about Taekwon Thornton, all those offensive linemen. Where are
- 56:15Speaker 8: they standing in terms of their physical availability? Yeah, there
- 56:20Speaker 8: are a lot of balls in the air, and that
- 56:21Speaker 8: it's not even taken to consideration. What we talked about
- 56:23Speaker 8: like a guy like Albert Oh, would they put a
- 56:26Speaker 8: claim in on him? If they do that, they'll do
- 56:28Speaker 8: that today, right or tomorrow. I guess by tomorrow.
- 56:31Speaker 4: That was just one of my biggest questions from the
- 56:33Speaker 4: trades is if they had to does it make sense
- 56:34Speaker 4: to wait because so many people get cut? Like how
- 56:36Speaker 4: much of a sense do they have of all the
- 56:38Speaker 4: depth charts of Hey, this tackle might get cut. So
- 56:41Speaker 4: we either can you know, trade Pierre Strong and go
- 56:44Speaker 4: get a tackle, or maybe we wait and we see who.
- 56:47Speaker 8: Gets If you want, but if you want the guy, right,
- 56:50Speaker 8: you got to make the trade like like like like
- 56:53Speaker 8: you you were talking about Nick Folk early in the show, Mike,
- 56:56Speaker 8: So I mean I would say, you know, from a
- 57:01Speaker 8: rational standpoint, well, why would anybody trade for Nick Folk?
- 57:05Speaker 8: He's going to get cut. But then you have to fight.
- 57:09Speaker 8: Then you have to fight. The four teams that are
- 57:11Speaker 8: supposedly like I think I saw like Dallas in Denver,
- 57:15Speaker 8: I saw like three or four teams that could possibly
- 57:18Speaker 8: be in the market for a kicker. Well, then you
- 57:20Speaker 8: have to fight all those teams and possibly outbid them,
- 57:23Speaker 8: you know, whereas you give him a seventh round pick
- 57:26Speaker 8: and you get nick full.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Right, let's get back to the phones. Eight five five
- 57:31Speaker 1: pats five hundred. Eric is in Amherstburg.
- 57:34Speaker 8: What's up er Hill township? Favorite?
- 57:39Speaker 17: So, yeah, that he's here.
- 57:42Speaker 8: If I had a dollar time someone said that I
- 57:45Speaker 8: have about what did Evan in Tamarago?
- 57:47Speaker 20: By the way, disappointed.
- 57:52Speaker 11: Inut on that.
- 57:54Speaker 17: So if Bill has the same kind of a year
- 57:57Speaker 17: as I think he's had drop things since twenty seventeen,
- 58:01Speaker 17: do you think that he could possibly get relieved of
- 58:04Speaker 17: GM duties before coaching duties. I know that's a really
- 58:07Speaker 17: long stretch, but I just think since twenty seventeen, his
- 58:12Speaker 17: drafting and his free agents findings that completely went downhill
- 58:15Speaker 17: compared to what they were in the early dynasty is
- 58:18Speaker 17: what I'll call it. And I'll take the answer off.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Well, have a great buy, all right, thanks?
- 58:23Speaker 6: Eric?
- 58:23Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I never rule anything out. I would
- 58:26Speaker 8: be completely and totally floored if Bill agrees to just
- 58:31Speaker 8: you know, seed all the power in just coach, No way,
- 58:34Speaker 8: I can't imagine that that's going to be the same.
- 58:36Speaker 1: But what about Macro just having a little bit more?
- 58:38Speaker 8: Say, I can't see it. No, as long as I
- 58:42Speaker 8: mean a little bit more a little bit less. I
- 58:43Speaker 8: don't know how to define that. But final say, if
- 58:46Speaker 8: it's not Bill, I can't see him staying yeah. And again,
- 58:51Speaker 8: maybe he'd surprised you. Maybe he said, you know what,
- 58:54Speaker 8: I'm seventy whatever years old. I want to coach one
- 58:57Speaker 8: of a couple of years. I don't want to go
- 58:58Speaker 8: somewhere else. I just coach. Maybe that'll happen. I'd be
- 59:02Speaker 8: very doubtful that that would happen to Uh.
- 59:06Speaker 1: Nick is in Rhode Island.
- 59:07Speaker 6: What's up? Nick?
- 59:08Speaker 4: Oh?
- 59:08Speaker 1: Nick is not in Rhode Island anymore. He's gone.
- 59:11Speaker 8: Good job, didn't pay. So I love this on ninety
- 59:14Speaker 8: five the sports Ups Italian subs or any other type
- 59:17Speaker 8: of sub for the rest of your life, this or that.
- 59:19Speaker 4: Easy any other stuff Italian.
- 59:23Speaker 1: I agree it's easy, so meaning if if you pick
- 59:27Speaker 1: the any other you can never have that Italian again.
- 59:30Speaker 8: I couldn't do that.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I think I'd do any other. I can still have baconry,
- 59:34Speaker 1: you can have your cheeseburger sub, you can have your
- 59:36Speaker 1: steak and cheesemi. Yeah, I think i'd go with you
- 59:43Speaker 1: any other.
- 59:48Speaker 4: That much on the on that program, that program, this
- 59:50Speaker 4: or that, you just people like throw in oh general,
- 59:53Speaker 4: it's not it's not thought of by said hosts.
- 59:55Speaker 8: Well, sometimes sometimes they are, but sometimes they don't. The
- 59:58Speaker 8: listeners suggest they don't like to talk about sports. So
- 1:00:01Speaker 8: you know, saying that is that show cannot be accused
- 1:00:03Speaker 8: of that. That's the morning show on that on my station,
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: as you like to say, they don't like to talk
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: about sports. They had an unbelievable interview today. I'll let
- 1:00:11Speaker 8: you get to the call first. Uh yeah, we'll get
- 1:00:13Speaker 8: to that later.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Nick, and Rhode Island is back.
- 1:00:15Speaker 8: What's up?
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: Nick?
- 1:00:17Speaker 20: Yeah, I don't know if you guys heard Bert Breer
- 1:00:20Speaker 20: the other night. He's talking about, excuse me, the Pats
- 1:00:24Speaker 20: looking to trade. He mentioned in a very like withholding way.
- 1:00:27Speaker 20: He was like, yeah, think about a team that just
- 1:00:31Speaker 20: hired a new coach. That was kind of his clue.
- 1:00:33Speaker 20: So I kind of looked into it. I think he's
- 1:00:35Speaker 20: talking about zach Ertz. I know Bill had had a
- 1:00:38Speaker 20: crush on him whatever years ago. Wondering if to me
- 1:00:42Speaker 20: that doesn't move the needle that much, if that's what
- 1:00:44Speaker 20: we're looking to trade, I guess not at all, but
- 1:00:48Speaker 20: wondering what you guys think about that.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I think it's SICKI right, I mean, is that he's
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: kind of like an old an older version of.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:55Speaker 8: I mean, I like zach Ertz as a player. I
- 1:00:57Speaker 8: think he's He's had a really really good probably a
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: better career than Kaziki, But you're adding another sort of
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: past catching tight I think that, you know, and you know,
- 1:01:09Speaker 8: Evan talked about pro football focuses assessment of Alberto I see,
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: you know, speaking of Albert Breer. I saw he had
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: a retweet along the same lines of what I was
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: thinking about Alberta when he was saying, you know, he
- 1:01:22Speaker 8: might add a you know, a run blocking element. So
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: if he's a well rounded guy in thought of as
- 1:01:28Speaker 8: you know, a reasonable enough blocker, I would take a
- 1:01:31Speaker 8: I would take a flyer. I would too. Last year
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: of his rookie deal, so cheap money.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: Young guy, maybe some potential still third to third tight end.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: Take a shot on him if he develops. I mean,
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: Hunter Henry's a free agent. Kaziki's a free agent, right
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: like that, there's no long terms to.
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: Be well, he would be a free agent too if
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: they if they claim on waivers, he'd be appending free agent.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: That's somebody to try out. Maybe give him an extension.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: Maybe Matt Lacasse is available.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Let's go to Jody in Atlanta. Jo Is Hey was
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: going on guys, Hey, hey, so I'm from Atlanta, and uh,
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: since we played up in Nashville.
- 1:02:06Speaker 21: We drove up to the game and go watch and uh,
- 1:02:10Speaker 21: I mean definitely wasn't the most entertaining game, but you know,
- 1:02:13Speaker 21: he's time you get to watch football this greatly.
- 1:02:14Speaker 20: But I was a little concerned.
- 1:02:17Speaker 21: I was trying to watch and I tried to, you know,
- 1:02:20Speaker 21: watch into people's individual reps instead of trying to watch
- 1:02:23Speaker 21: that the game as a whole. And I noticed they
- 1:02:25Speaker 21: were playing maphu uh in like three different roles that
- 1:02:28Speaker 21: it looks like he played down in the box a
- 1:02:30Speaker 21: little bit, and then he played safety and then I
- 1:02:33Speaker 21: think they had him over at splat corner at one point.
- 1:02:36Speaker 21: How do you guys think that they're gonna use him?
- 1:02:38Speaker 21: Kind of going into the season, do you think he'll
- 1:02:41Speaker 21: be more of the second level or more at the
- 1:02:42Speaker 21: third level?
- 1:02:43Speaker 8: Good question.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's in between.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: I think he did.
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: He definitely started that linebacker and then he ended up.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I think he's that big safety that comes down a lot,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: you know, yeah.
- 1:02:53Speaker 21: I I so if they keep him back there, then
- 1:02:56Speaker 21: then who's on the who's on the outs or do
- 1:02:58Speaker 21: you think they're gonna keep all their safety because yeah.
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: They have well it depends on who you think is in.
- 1:03:05Speaker 8: But I mean they Phillips, Dougger, Pepper's and uh Mapoo, right, yeah,
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: and Mills and yeah those are the five. Yeah, Okay,
- 1:03:18Speaker 8: now I think that I think eventually they want Mapoo
- 1:03:23Speaker 8: to be a linebacker, but I don't know if they
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: feel like he's ready yet for that. I don't know.
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: I mean, that's just my my feeling from Afar. He
- 1:03:31Speaker 8: spent more time with you agree, Mike in the secondary
- 1:03:33Speaker 8: all summer.
- 1:03:34Speaker 6: All of it.
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, yeah, but he started the game the
- 1:03:36Speaker 8: other night as a linebacker, not as a not as
- 1:03:39Speaker 8: a safety in the box. He was playing linebacker the
- 1:03:42Speaker 8: first couple of series. You could see it on TV.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: Really, yeah, yes, it looked to me like he played
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: safety the whole time. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
- 1:03:51Speaker 4: I mean, my impression is that the guy moves to
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: the second level in a passing down to cover running
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: back and people lose their minds. Like I just, I
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: don't think he's ever gonna play three to four week
- 1:04:01Speaker 4: side linebacker next to Juwan Bentley when hey, we got
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: to stop the run. I just I don't see it.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: I don't see it. I think he moves really well.
- 1:04:08Speaker 4: I thought I was on the same thing Evan was on.
- 1:04:10Speaker 8: He just ruined my whole day.
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: Sorry.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: I think he's got great speed. I think, you know,
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: unfortunately people might not want to hear it. But I
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: think he might be Kyle Dugger next year. That's what
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: I think.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Wow, Because Kyle Dugger may not be I mean, yeah, wow.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: And I don't know how he gets in this year.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: I thought, I think Mills has been really good. I
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: think it's going to take an injury or some poor
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: performance for him to actually get in and have a
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: role other than maybe like a special team's up and
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: down game day kind of guy.
- 1:04:38Speaker 8: Wow.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Okay, And I like.
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: Him, Yeah, I think he has a chat. I mean
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: I'm gonna keep my dream alive, Jody. I think that
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: Bill's targeting of him tells me that maybe he's at
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: least interested in because I think as a safety, he's
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: a safety, he's another SAT like. I don't think there's
- 1:04:57Speaker 8: anything wrong with their safeties. I think they're good players.
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: I think there's some versatility there. But I don't see
- 1:05:02Speaker 8: him as like the next Ed Reid or Troy Paulamalo,
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: you know, who's going to change the game. I think
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: at linebacker, his skill set is intriguing to me, and
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: that could be something different, but Mike's probably right.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: I mean, I I'll just say, I mean, you know, Evan, thanks.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: I don't know what this means, but I really love
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: this next Gen site that we have access to now,
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: which is you know, you you can watch everything that
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: give you the dots on every play and you know,
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: and it records everybody's speeds and stuff, and you know,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: and and Evin pointed it out and I and I
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: noticed it too, and you know, it's you know, he
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: is consistently take this for what it's worth.
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: I don't know what this is, this is gonna but
- 1:05:41Speaker 8: he's the fastest.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: Guy on the field. A lot of the snaps he
- 1:05:44Speaker 4: played the other right now, I don't know what that means,
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: but he's the fast He's the guy.
- 1:05:47Speaker 8: Who's the fastest on the speed. I think his speed
- 1:05:50Speaker 8: is definitely a parent. But I did not like that
- 1:05:53Speaker 8: play as much as most. I don't think he took
- 1:05:55Speaker 8: a good one and I think he got very lucky.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Totally fair. I I just I think for me, the
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: observation was that he can run.
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: Absolutely and absolutely, you know, I want to linebacker.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: And that's why I you know, I wonder what what
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: is it going to be? Is there a you know,
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: a free safety, you know that kind of role? Is
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: is he is that what they see in him? I
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: think he's a really unique player. I mean, I know
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: Greg was a little bit down on his play. Evan
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: was a little higher. I mean, I just I just
- 1:06:19Speaker 4: like his trade.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: But don't you think those traits don't you think those
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: traits are so important when you're playing a quarterback who
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: can extend plays with his feet. Oh, and there's so
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: many of them that we're going to play. That's where
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: we get burned. It's not so much the first three
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: five seconds. It's when we cover well and then the
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: play breaks down and then we get burned. So if
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: you have a guy like Mapu who's got that kind
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: of speed, maybe he minimize the damage that happens when
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: the play breaks down. I don't know, but I think
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: they've been lacking that.
- 1:06:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he's just he's got an interesting combination of I
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: didn't know how fast he was, and that's just what
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: piqued my interest with that, because what I did like
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: about him was that he throws his shoulder into guys.
- 1:07:00Speaker 4: He's a hard hitter and he just seems to see
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: things and go. He has that recognition skill that you
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: The funny thing about that is I think he wants
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: to be that, but he didn't look like. I didn't
- 1:07:11Speaker 8: like his tackling the other night. I mean he for
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: the most part, they were able to make the tackle,
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: but some.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Of them weren't. They weren't.
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: He comes and the play down the sideline. I think
- 1:07:21Speaker 8: it was Spears. Spears who was fast. Yep, he had
- 1:07:26Speaker 8: the total angle. He had the angle and got out
- 1:07:28Speaker 8: run and he barely got it with a shoe string tackle.
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: And I didn't love the coverage. I know a lot
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: of people disagreed with me. I didn't love the coverage
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: on the tight end. I thought of the throw was put,
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: you know, back corner high point. Nothing he could have
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: done about it.
- 1:07:45Speaker 4: I think these are all fair points that you said,
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: and that's and that's you know, just part of watching
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: a kid play his first game. And there's no question
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: some some lumps there. But just as far as the traits,
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: I think he continues to be kind of unique. And
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: and that's why the intrigue of of could he play
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: some line? You know, I don't know, I'm with my
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: maybe it's coming up, yeah, like coming up as a
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: safety with the bad like I get that, Like you know,
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: I get that kind of mistake from a rookie you're
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: not really used to the NFL speed all of a sudden.
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: You know, that's a really hard thing. I'm sure Devin
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: mccorty could really talk to that of you know, being
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: in the free safety position and recognizing this guy and
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: I've got to take an angle in the middle of
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: the field and you know, make sure I'm able to
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: tackle him. So I I unfortunately, I think he's going
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: to kind of be a red shirt year unless you know,
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Mills gets hurt or you know, some of those safeties
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: start to go down, but.
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: That would really surprise a lot of people.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: I'm kind of disappointed in the take of myself, to
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: be totally honest, Like I don't want to.
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: Be saying that he's putting himself in take because.
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: I love, like I'd love to just see them, like,
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: let's get going with this kid, and let's not burn
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: a year on him, especially if he's going to be
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: involved with there.
- 1:08:43Speaker 8: I think, so we're talking about Calvin Munson and mac Wilson, like,
- 1:08:48Speaker 8: you know, a room for both of you.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: Get him out? Yeah, what are we doing?
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: No, And I think maybe that's where you're it's like
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: six two six, that's Paul, he runs, you know what.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: It's kind of like, I think he's better going forward
- 1:08:59Speaker 4: than not totally the same. But I remember with Merriweather
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: and things were different back then with defense, like they
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: didn't play as much. They were you know, three four
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: four defensive backs and they'd really probably just bring an
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: extra defensive back on for passing downs. But that might
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: be where mop who gets it is you know that
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: linebacker roll cover, you know, put him in the bar back,
- 1:09:17Speaker 4: third and seven, put him in there. You've got some
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: things you can do with him with that speed, that size,
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: that hit.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: All right, Paul's foods here. We'll take a break, but
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: before we do. Bridge Stone is the official tire of

- 1:10:22Speaker 6: It's your Verizon.
- 1:10:30Speaker 9: Pauly's really had an understated role for the defense. You'l
- 1:10:34Speaker 9: goal try By badly fans off the upright and added
- 1:10:38Speaker 9: through Carrow's through good for batche from forty four. So
- 1:10:45Speaker 9: the Titans take the lead off the point. It's a
- 1:10:48Speaker 9: three to nothing game. In the preseason finale in Nashville,
- 1:10:53Speaker 9: Jason Hiness out of LSU so you can hear for
- 1:10:55Speaker 9: the Patriots. Now have left guard replaying ferens play action.
- 1:10:58Speaker 9: Pay By exactly asked to staft it. Let's just scramble
- 1:11:02Speaker 9: and runs his way under the arms of the defender.
- 1:11:04Speaker 9: Didn't go Autrey for the ball loose, stop down and
- 1:11:08Speaker 9: Jaden Peebe coming up with it. For tennis, soon.
- 1:11:11Speaker 11: Ruling on the field as a fumble recovered by the defense.
- 1:11:14Speaker 23: Step down now, I thought he was down here. Now
- 1:11:18Speaker 23: he got in trouble. Now the ball got knocked out
- 1:11:20Speaker 23: right when he got back into the pocket. That's a
- 1:11:22Speaker 23: good call. Ball pops out. You're gonna see him step
- 1:11:25Speaker 23: up here, steps up left, doesn't like it, fills it
- 1:11:28Speaker 23: off the edge and if Bank gets it popped out
- 1:11:30Speaker 23: right there.
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: He's got to protect the ball. Better to loose with
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: the ball there.
- 1:11:35Speaker 9: Magually hit it got forty four it now from twenty
- 1:11:38Speaker 9: six and they can't.
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: Is good.
- 1:11:43Speaker 9: So the Patriots with a giveaway on the strip, SAT
- 1:11:48Speaker 9: defense holds Tennessee to three six nothing in the first.
- 1:11:54Speaker 8: Those two guys Webbin Munson could be fighting for a spot.
- 1:11:57Speaker 9: JJ Taylor takes the screen. It's outside and he bruises
- 1:12:04Speaker 9: his way forward, shouldering into a defender with a first
- 1:12:07Speaker 9: down catch and run for the Pats. Okay, ten yards
- 1:12:10Speaker 9: a little screen.
- 1:12:10Speaker 23: He's gonna get a chip, but he's gonna leak out
- 1:12:12Speaker 23: here into the left flat, so they're setting up screen. Remember,
- 1:12:15Speaker 23: offensive line cannot cut outside the tackle box there anymore,
- 1:12:19Speaker 23: so all you gotta do is just walt some guys
- 1:12:21Speaker 23: off and get two hits right there.
- 1:12:22Speaker 6: Jenj picks up a nice game, keep making plays kid.
- 1:12:26Speaker 9: Through maybe half the practice squad, there is little to
- 1:12:30Speaker 9: no separation in terms of the talent of a lot
- 1:12:32Speaker 9: of those players. Where the running outside and the broken
- 1:12:35Speaker 9: tackle and spears the fours out of Adams. Eventually with
- 1:12:39Speaker 9: the first down for Tennessee.
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: That's a good strong run.
- 1:12:41Speaker 23: Right there, and he's stiff arms and runs over Jack
- 1:12:43Speaker 23: Jack Jones here and Jones.
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: It's got to be better.
- 1:12:46Speaker 5: You know this.
- 1:12:47Speaker 23: This run kicks out backside. You're the last guy defense
- 1:12:50Speaker 23: back there. Hand right to the head, stiff arm.
- 1:12:54Speaker 9: Got to remind you that while you're seeing our video
- 1:12:58Speaker 9: images is the home the Titans that have the angles
- 1:13:02Speaker 9: for a pitch the offentials and Calvin Munson, I mean
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: over the January. SI has it for the Patriots. Another
- 1:13:09Speaker 9: big play for the linebacker making his cakes tonight, you
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: Tennessee man Munson.
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: Make it some place. See the best thing about this
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: is the ball as it's deflected and it comes.
- 1:13:20Speaker 8: Up see it.
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: Make sure it doesn't hit the ground. It's gonna be
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: on top of the defensive player. He gets it.
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: He's got that more.
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: Frank co oheris asking immacular reception. Yeah, he stays what
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: he does.
- 1:13:33Speaker 23: He helps secure the ball by landing up top of
- 1:13:35Speaker 23: the offensive player. Pitch catches this slips happy and then
- 1:13:41Speaker 23: if he takes a pile driving still in ten and
- 1:13:46Speaker 23: do the vid so he makes up for the short
- 1:13:50Speaker 23: arm on the previous possession, gets gets the slant chip
- 1:13:54Speaker 23: sort of stuck right on the numbers here makes it
- 1:13:56Speaker 23: an easy catch for him.
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: By zappy, that's an easier throw too.
- 1:14:01Speaker 23: It doesn't throw this ninety five miles an hour like
- 1:14:03Speaker 23: the last one, and then you just catch him.
- 1:14:05Speaker 6: What else are you gonna do with it? He's got
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: extra five there, he's.
- 1:14:09Speaker 9: At six up to eight over nine in twenty three
- 1:14:14Speaker 9: in all. Now the Patriots have their first and goal
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: to go down by six. The gift to Harris through
- 1:14:22Speaker 9: the right side and the m zone touchdown Patriots.
- 1:14:27Speaker 23: It's about as easy a touchdown run as you could
- 1:14:29Speaker 23: have preseason game number thirty.
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: A lot of guys mixing and matching up front.
- 1:14:34Speaker 23: This just goes right up the middle and it's hat
- 1:14:36Speaker 23: on a hat, so Andrews is in its center.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: He gets the initial turn right there. That's the key.
- 1:14:51Speaker 6: It's that right side, the right side all turns right
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: and the backer gets picked.
- 1:14:58Speaker 9: Willis will a turn in the game of reversing directions.
- 1:15:01Speaker 9: Westmas his way in the open patio. I crossed the
- 1:15:04Speaker 9: forty five and it eventually caught by Roberts twenty three
- 1:15:11Speaker 9: yards for Julius Chestnut.
- 1:15:13Speaker 23: And it's a bad angle at the back end here.
- 1:15:17Speaker 23: Now it's a heck of a run. It's over pursuit
- 1:15:19Speaker 23: to the right. They do a good job walling it off,
- 1:15:21Speaker 23: and there's our angle right there where you missed the
- 1:15:23Speaker 23: tackle from deep. That's a good job Roberts hustling downfield,
- 1:15:27Speaker 23: you know for a big guy staying with it. He
- 1:15:30Speaker 23: could have quit gave up there, stays with it and
- 1:15:32Speaker 23: ends up getting to the ball.
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: Care the kick by Badgeley, Well why to the left?
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: So the Patriots still have the lead. I'm a missed
- 1:15:41Speaker 9: from thirty nine thanks to the effort by robertson company.
- 1:15:47Speaker 9: And Willis works in the gun waiting on the tenth
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: snap of this series, he looks to throw it and
- 1:15:58Speaker 9: he talkses all put a touchdown.
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: Hey, you're in that score in.
- 1:16:05Speaker 23: The celebration for tennessee two consecutive plays, excellent feet.
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: I believe Willis here fill the pressure.
- 1:16:11Speaker 23: He's makes a couple of plays getting outside the pocket
- 1:16:13Speaker 23: tonight squares the shoulders back against the line of scrimmage here,
- 1:16:18Speaker 23: so you're gonna see the pressure again. And right there
- 1:16:21Speaker 23: if for Go gets beat, that's a good ball. Keep
- 1:16:27Speaker 23: that ball nice low right out front, sticking between the numbers.
- 1:16:32Speaker 9: Will's going back and looking at it throws, it's picked
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: off and Giles Harris, the former Buffalo Bill has a
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: theft is a New England Patriot.
- 1:16:42Speaker 23: Ice read ice read by him dropping underneath the coverage
- 1:16:45Speaker 23: from the backside. Quarterback didn't see him. Tried to float
- 1:16:48Speaker 23: the ball in there. This ball may have been tipped
- 1:16:50Speaker 23: at the line of scrimmage.
- 1:16:52Speaker 9: Willis flushed right, directing traffic to the end zone. Touchdown Tennessee.
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: Beautiful throw as he finds now, Harris Jackson.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: He created his.
- 1:17:05Speaker 23: Own groove here tonight. He didn't start well, no tim
- 1:17:08Speaker 23: leek Willis, but he hung in there. He started to
- 1:17:10Speaker 23: make some place, gains some confidence, used his legs that
- 1:17:13Speaker 23: set up throwing angles to where he could find his guys.
- 1:17:20Speaker 23: Pocket too long in that pocket, man, that clockeat's got
- 1:17:27Speaker 23: to be ticking tick and ticket.
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: They recovered it. He didn't get just getting on it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: But they're gonna give it away with a punt.
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: He's gonna shout at Billy, oh hear.
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: Ball definitely came out.
- 1:17:42Speaker 9: He was able to still secure it with that left hand.
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: Came down the body.
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: Stonehouse, second ear butter for Tennessee and into the end zone.
- 1:18:00Speaker 9: Don't return it. He's gonna try. No, oh my, there's
- 1:18:07Speaker 9: an inexperienced guys is.
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: Not happy of that. What's he doing? Supposed to put your.
- 1:18:16Speaker 9: Foot in the five yard? But the Patriots will start
- 1:18:21Speaker 9: inside the five for one of those specialist jobs pleasure,
- 1:18:26Speaker 9: you know.
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: Those up top to fourth cat.
- 1:18:29Speaker 9: Sacked and as told you, the ball came loose again.
- 1:18:33Speaker 9: Third fumble for Bailey in this game. He's recovered two
- 1:18:36Speaker 9: of them.
- 1:18:37Speaker 23: You can't control the rush. It's very frustrating night for him.
- 1:18:41Speaker 23: Billy keeps putting him back out there.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: All right back here and Patriots unfiltered. It's deuced Paul
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and Fred holding down the fort. Tamarron Evan ran off
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: to Bill Belichick's press conference.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: I think they might have gone to practice, now, practice
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: and attendance. See who's out there? I did see?
- 1:19:06Speaker 13: Uh?
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I thought we were down to like minimal attendance. That
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: like for media, you can only send one per outlet, right,
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: So what's going on?
- 1:19:15Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: I don't know, might just I don't know. We'll have
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: to find out who who actually went out there.
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: We'll see, okay, all right, don't you don't have to
- 1:19:23Speaker 8: blow the whistle on ourselves. No, I know, but lets
- 1:19:26Speaker 8: someone else got us in trouble.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Web Radio at Patriots dot com is
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: the email address eight five past five hundred eight.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: I was just gonna I was gonna share with the
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: crew that Alvin Calvin Anderson is being activated today from
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: NFI according to the field Yates, So he will start
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: practicing immediately. You'll probably be out there today. So a
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: little bit of of reinforcements. I guess that was I mean,
- 1:19:49Speaker 4: he played left tackle the whole time. There were Oh
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: and I and Rapaport just confirming, yes, Patriots are trading
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: Nick Folk to the Titans. Oh so there you go
- 1:20:00Speaker 4: four a twenty twenty five seventh round pick.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Oh okay, what did you think?
- 1:20:06Speaker 8: I mean, like, I'm not trying to be disrespectful.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: What is the first rounder?
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: What about twenty twenty four? We're not having a draft
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: in twenty twenty or thirty eight year old kicker?
- 1:20:15Speaker 8: What did you think they were going to get for him?
- 1:20:17Speaker 17: No?
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I don't know, but like maybe a draft pick next
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: year instead of two years from now.
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:20:22Speaker 8: Wow.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Anyway, alarms are about to go off. They're testing the
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: fire lines.
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: But hopefully you won't hear anything.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so we have our specialists, right, so the rookies,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: we have our kickers.
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, let's go. I mean I think everybody's just
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: like you drafted them.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Are we now nervous about those game winning three field goals?
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: Like the least of my worries right now?
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: If we get to that.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: Point, Well, now I'm just like, well, hey, maybe we
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: could kick sixty yarders if we have to.
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:20:52Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I think when you draft, when you
- 1:20:54Speaker 8: spend draft capital on this stuff, it's automatic. Yeah, you
- 1:20:56Speaker 8: have to keep them unless the guy really just craps out,
- 1:20:59Speaker 8: like justin.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Wan in Monterrey. Is Mike Okay, he says these last
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: few weeks has been really down on the team. Even Paul,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: who was the great White Snark, looks like Homer in comparison.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Where is the guy who was excited to be done
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: with the Brady era to begin the new one?
- 1:21:15Speaker 8: Just trying to provide something broken?
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: No, I mean I've had fun. I mean there's been
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: there's been some good stuff this summer, but I mean
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: top of the show was all about the tackles, and
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: like I said, all spring you spent talking about tackles.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: But I think the point of the emailer is you
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: should be happy if the Brady errors have continued.
- 1:21:34Speaker 8: This is what you wanted, this is what you asked.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: So wrong. I should have realized that Tom Brady was
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: actually good, and we should we.
- 1:21:40Speaker 8: Should have just left. In retrospect, we should have kept
- 1:21:42Speaker 8: him when he come.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: In twenty twenty one, and we'd be going for foreigner.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: When he comes back for week one.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: You can, you know, apologize. Yeah, well, I'm just waiting
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: because I'm assuming maybe at some point our past will
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: cross in this building, and I'm just hoping Paul's not
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: there to be like, you know, he hates you, like
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: you know he's Paul's gonna.
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: Tell me I would I would never, I know.
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: I know you wouldn't realize I would do it.
- 1:22:01Speaker 8: Someone who had a sense of humor that would be funny.
- 1:22:04Speaker 8: I wouldn't do I wouldn't embarrass it.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: No, Christian is in La. What's up? Christian?
- 1:22:10Speaker 17: Hey you guys, Good morning for a good afternoon.
- 1:22:14Speaker 18: So it seems like with Ezekiel, Elliott and Verman dre
- 1:22:19Speaker 18: Stevens that we had the power back spot sort of
- 1:22:23Speaker 18: filled out and understood.
- 1:22:25Speaker 11: So I'm struggling to understand.
- 1:22:27Speaker 18: Why we didn't try to trade like a Damien Harris
- 1:22:31Speaker 18: or a packaged with time Montgomery to get alignment instead
- 1:22:35Speaker 18: of what I considered the player that felt like he
- 1:22:38Speaker 18: could have grown to be a really dangerous third down
- 1:22:42Speaker 18: back with his receiving ability and speed and Pierre Strong.
- 1:22:46Speaker 18: Was it that Harris or mont didn't have any trade value?
- 1:22:51Speaker 18: Why we got rid of them instead of Strong? What
- 1:22:53Speaker 18: do you what are you guys thinking?
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: Yep?
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: I think that well Evan. If you heard the beginning
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: of the show, Evan said that strong style of running
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: was more suited to what they were trying to do.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: Last year was the outside runs, and this year he
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: was kind of in his way. He said, a square
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: peg in a round hole.
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: And in fairness, Bill said that didn't have anything to
- 1:23:12Speaker 8: do with it.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Well, anyway, he did.
- 1:23:13Speaker 8: No, I'm just I just want to present both sides.
- 1:23:16Speaker 8: I've often said, you don't always listen to what Bill says,
- 1:23:19Speaker 8: you know, yeah, stuff like that. But he was asked
- 1:23:22Speaker 8: that question yesterday and said it didn't have anything to
- 1:23:24Speaker 8: do with it.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but you mentioned Damien Harris. He meant Kevin Kevin Harris.
- 1:23:29Speaker 8: But yeah, I mean Strong, has I don't listen. I
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: don't think the trade value was ridiculously high on any
- 1:23:35Speaker 8: of those three, but I would say Pierre Strong's was
- 1:23:38Speaker 8: higher than Kevin Harris's and certainly Time Montgomery at this
- 1:23:41Speaker 8: stage of his career.
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: But right well, I.
- 1:23:44Speaker 18: Would say package do they do?
- 1:23:47Speaker 17: They do that where they would package two players, but the.
- 1:23:50Speaker 8: Other team has to want it. The other team has
- 1:23:53Speaker 8: to want it like you have to, like Bill says,
- 1:23:56Speaker 8: you have to trade something to get something. It's hard.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: With time on Comry two, he thanks Christian.
- 1:24:01Speaker 8: That's why I think he has no trade value.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: I was just going to point out, Paul, you know,
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: you did the profile to leave on Strong and and
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: you were kind of early on, like I think we
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: were all just penciling him in as the third down back,
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: and I think you were one of the first. He
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: wasn't really that guy, and so I think that lends
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: a little bit of credence towards, you know, maybe the style,
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: but I never really saw much of anything.
- 1:24:22Speaker 8: But Evan's talking about the running style. He's more suited
- 1:24:24Speaker 8: to the zone runs that they were trying to do
- 1:24:26Speaker 8: last year. That was what intrigued him, not as opposed
- 1:24:28Speaker 8: to as opposed to the just sort of. But here's
- 1:24:34Speaker 8: the thing. When given opportunities to catch screen passes and whatnot,
- 1:24:39Speaker 8: he didn't look out of place. Now, the intricacies of
- 1:24:43Speaker 8: what they want you to do, I don't know. Maybe
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: he didn't have those, Maybe he didn't have the instincts
- 1:24:47Speaker 8: as a blitz pick up guy. Maybe he wasn't great
- 1:24:50Speaker 8: at running routes. I don't know. But the handful of
- 1:24:54Speaker 8: times he got his hands on the ball, he tended
- 1:24:56Speaker 8: to make something happen. I thought he had a really
- 1:24:59Speaker 8: nice in the game the other night. I mean, they
- 1:25:02Speaker 8: had seventy nine yards of total offense. He had like
- 1:25:04Speaker 8: twelve of them on that play, right, So I just thought,
- 1:25:09Speaker 8: I'm not up in arms about it. I'm not changing
- 1:25:12Speaker 8: my views on running backs. I just thought it was
- 1:25:15Speaker 8: a curious decision to end an experiment with a guy
- 1:25:18Speaker 8: one year in to get what they got. Now, if
- 1:25:21Speaker 8: it was to get like Josh Jones, a guy who
- 1:25:24Speaker 8: started some games in the league, that would be different.
- 1:25:27Speaker 8: This is to get a guy who played tight end
- 1:25:29Speaker 8: until twenty minutes ago and has never played on a roster.
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: I just besides the fact that you had the same
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: guy in for a workout last year. You could have
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: had him for nothing. That's exactly what I thought, Paul
- 1:25:40Speaker 8: when they did the move.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: Is sometimes they do things that I'm just like, you
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: can already see the SoundBite, and I'm like, well, there
- 1:25:46Speaker 4: it is. You just traded a fourth round for a
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: guy who wasn't even in the league a year ago.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: Not ideal, uh Rick and Louisville. I know, I'm probably
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: making more of it than needed, but I really like
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Nick Folk. Maybe I should find Hardy and we could
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: go drink ourselves into oblivion. I never say anything he
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: did wrong.
- 1:26:02Speaker 8: There's a lot of reason why Nick, Folks. He was
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: he was balls, he was like ninety yeah and whatever.
- 1:26:08Speaker 8: Four years he never missed. There's no what, what possible
- 1:26:12Speaker 8: reason could you have to not like Nick?
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: You know, with a with a short little blip in
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: between the page has been pretty good with uh you
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: know field goal kickers.
- 1:26:23Speaker 8: Just ask him about it.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: But n Goskowski and now Folk, you know, I mean,
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: that's that's a pretty good run.
- 1:26:29Speaker 8: That's a pretty good run, folks.
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: Just a great story. I mean, you know this just
- 1:26:32Speaker 4: it never happens. You signed this like cast off guy.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: That's a punchline. And then he becomes you know, super
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: solid for you, I.
- 1:26:39Speaker 8: Think want.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: But like that like a thirty eight year old guy
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: and like he's been kicked, yeah, thirty five. I think
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: just the the Tampa woman was the one which he
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: would hit Jack.
- 1:26:51Speaker 8: He was good earlier in his career.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Jack writes him, what is the realistic longevity of Bill
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: O'Brien on this team? If this year is bad and
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: we're looking for a new quarterback? Is he staying around
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: for that? If this year is a success, how much
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: longer is he willing to stay with the team? Any
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: possible interest into becoming a head coach again, whether it
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: may be here or elsewhere, or do you think he'll
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: just ride this out for however long Bill is here?
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: That's a good question. I mean, I think there's maybe
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: something to be said for him being from around here
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: and maybe he'll ride it out a little bit to
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: you know, he's been all around the country for a while.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: Maybe he likes being back here. But it's a it's
- 1:27:27Speaker 4: a good question.
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: I don't have I don't have the answer to it.
- 1:27:29Speaker 8: Mike is right, you know, it's a good question. My
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: guess is if he gets a head coaching opportunity, he'll go.
- 1:27:37Speaker 8: I think he wants to be a head coach again
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: in the league.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Let's go to Dan and Poughkeepsie.
- 1:27:43Speaker 9: What's up Dan, Hey, guys.
- 1:27:46Speaker 12: So I'm itching for the season to get started. So
- 1:27:49Speaker 12: I've been watching old past games from the past, like
- 1:27:53Speaker 12: pre dynasty. Just to let you know, I've watched the
- 1:27:56Speaker 12: eighty five and the ninety six championship games. Right now,
- 1:28:00Speaker 12: have the one regular season finale against Miami in O one.
- 1:28:05Speaker 12: Is there any games as a fan you watched that
- 1:28:08Speaker 12: maybe you would want to watch for the first time again?
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Oh God, there's plenty. I mean, just go down the
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: list of all the great games that the Pagers had.
- 1:28:18Speaker 4: Just you know, I'm sure Paul can give you some
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: Drew Bledsoe greatest hits.
- 1:28:23Speaker 8: No, I mean there's a lot of there's a lot
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: of games like that. But I mean, you want to
- 1:28:27Speaker 8: go back old school like Minnesota. So he watched the AFC,
- 1:28:31Speaker 8: the eighty five AFC Championship. That was the that was
- 1:28:34Speaker 8: the snapping of the Orange Bowl. Jinks down there. Well,
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: the next year in eighty six, the last game of
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: the year, they had to win in Miami to win
- 1:28:42Speaker 8: the division. Great game down there and they won back
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: to back in the Orange Bowl, so I think it
- 1:28:47Speaker 8: was the regular season finale in eighty six they won
- 1:28:51Speaker 8: down in Miami. That was a great game to watch.
- 1:28:54Speaker 8: I mean, Drew, I could give you a million.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: Get the Minnesota ninety five one though, that's.
- 1:28:57Speaker 8: That's ninety four four sorry nine Minnesota. Even all those
- 1:29:04Speaker 8: games down the stretch were just terrific. The Jets game
- 1:29:08Speaker 8: here in December, I think Boomer size and threw a
- 1:29:11Speaker 8: pick six to Ricky Reynolds right in front of me
- 1:29:14Speaker 8: in front.
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: Of the Tuna Buls. Those are pretty good ones too.
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: I did not like that first Tuna Bowl, man. That
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: was one of the most emotional game like I ever watched,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: because it was just it was more than just a game.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: That was the beginning of the end with my girlfriend.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: This was a this was a blood fuse.
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: It was but I was I was completely like Fred says,
- 1:29:35Speaker 8: I was completely irrational.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: It was it was it was the border war. You
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: just we can't lose this game. We can't lose this game.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: And they you know the way it ended in overtime.
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: What a game that was, which she's trying to like
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: play stuff during the game, for you, and he's like, so,
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: could we just go get some groceries?
- 1:29:52Speaker 8: But I was it was just the two of us,
- 1:29:54Speaker 8: and I'm like hocking ship around, like hello, whoa, whoa,
- 1:29:58Speaker 8: whoa hocking ship around? Oh yeah, yeah, I was spaking thirst.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: He did it twice.
- 1:30:03Speaker 8: I was speaking the first word. Wow, that was a ducism.
- 1:30:06Speaker 8: But no, no apparent reason. I wasn't even upset. I apologize, Yeah,
- 1:30:11Speaker 8: I was. I was throwing things around. Yeah, go ahead, Dan,
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: it was long to be onto that.
- 1:30:19Speaker 12: Paul, thank you. But also I would like to ask,
- 1:30:23Speaker 12: I just found out that my great grandfather went to
- 1:30:26Speaker 12: practices at Ryan's.
- 1:30:28Speaker 8: What years were those Oh it was for like twenty years, right,
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: I want to say seventy six to ninety two thousand two,
- 1:30:39Speaker 8: two thousand and two, No, yeah, the year we opened
- 1:30:42Speaker 8: up here we went, so it's two thousand and two, right, thanks. Yeah,
- 1:30:46Speaker 8: it's almost like I wrote a story.
- 1:30:48Speaker 12: You guys have been very helpful, Thank you.
- 1:30:50Speaker 8: All right, Yeah, it was seventy something. I don't know
- 1:30:53Speaker 8: the exact first year, it was like seventy six. Yeah,
- 1:30:57Speaker 8: so it was you know, a little before.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Bryan reminds me of recently last week, Pete Carroll had
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: a quote, I guess he was on Richard Sherman's podcast
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: about you know, when Pete first got here and he
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: wanted to serve a certain type of food and we're
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: not serving that, and they served in bologney sandwiches and chips.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: And I was like, that's kind of weird, because like
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: back in the day, Brian, we would eat with the players.
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: I said this to different people.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Now, well, no, but confirmed, and I talked to his
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: own I said, what's he talking about? And he said,
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: he's talking about like at lunch up in you know,
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: back in the old stadium, they used the VIP Club
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: as sort of the lunch room for the players because
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: they didn't have a lunch room, and they would put
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: out like a deli bar. So you make your own sandwiches,
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: is what Zoe said. It was, you know, It's like
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: he said, we didn't care. It was like, you make
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: your own sandwich. It wasn't just blog No, it wasn't
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: just bologna. I mean, so Pete kind of exaggerated.
- 1:31:55Speaker 8: It's not what they have now, I mean now, But
- 1:31:59Speaker 8: I think the point as Pete tried to he wanted to, Yeah,
- 1:32:02Speaker 8: he wanted to orchestrate what the meals were. It wasn't
- 1:32:05Speaker 8: allowed to. I think that was the point.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: Yeah, but it.
- 1:32:07Speaker 4: Seems like they eventually got there because everything I've ever
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: heard is that the.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: Food for the oh yeah, I mean yeah, absolutely, and
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: it's personalized. Yeah, you go in there and Deuce has
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: what he wants and what he needs, you know, to
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: keep either lose calories or gain calories.
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: But friend's right, Like we used to go when we
- 1:32:25Speaker 8: were at Bryant and we would have dinner. And when
- 1:32:30Speaker 8: we first when I first started there was like we
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: ate in the same calf as.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: The the play.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Yeah, we had to wait until they were.
- 1:32:39Speaker 8: Done, had to wait till they were done, and then
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: we could go in. But steaks, lobster, good, good stuff.
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: Then the next year we were in a different calf,
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: but but.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: Still it was real food.
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:32:50Speaker 8: It wasn't like boloneywich better than that.
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: So I was wondering, but Zoe said that, yeah, they'd
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: have a deli bar for lunch, you know, you make
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: your own seal.
- 1:33:01Speaker 8: And that was during mini camps too.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: It wasn't like all the time, Pete, come on, Pete, yeah,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: a little a little bit better, But I do know Pete.
- 1:33:10Speaker 8: To defend Pete, he did have he asked for some
- 1:33:12Speaker 8: things and yeah, never not any Yeah, it was remember
- 1:33:15Speaker 8: the rug thing.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: The budget was a lot tighter back then than it
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: is now.
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: Wanted to change a rug and wasn't allowed to.
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: Like the carpet in his office looked like there was
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: a death scene there.
- 1:33:26Speaker 8: You know, you've never you've never been there, right, like
- 1:33:28Speaker 8: you inside the old stadium, the old stadium offices were
- 1:33:33Speaker 8: just I mean, there's no other way to put it.
- 1:33:34Speaker 8: They were horrific. Yeah, they were really bad. And that's
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: why Robert worked so hard to build this place because
- 1:33:42Speaker 8: he understood how antiquated, you know, how like here, you.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Know, you can find a bathroom right that has less pressure,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: if you know what I mean. Like there there were
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: like two bathrooms and one of them you shared with
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: the greasy ass coaches, you know, and like it was
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: just a mess. It was the whole play. Like the
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: backstairs led to the locker room, and it just the smell.
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: Of you urine if it was really wet, like it
- 1:34:09Speaker 8: it would come in through the back of the just awful.
- 1:34:12Speaker 12: It was.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: It was like all in the above the locker room,
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: that end of the stage.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: East whatever direction and no compass. It was all in
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: one area.
- 1:34:23Speaker 8: They like passed that office like super box right.
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: Right, the VIP box. Yeah, and then you know during
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: the week, during the week, there was a coat closet
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: in that va and that's where a lot of our
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: guys worked. We would in one time they had an event,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: we had a double. We had to work and checking coats.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding because we weren't done,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: so we had to be the people taking in the
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: coats and giving people their tickets while we did our work.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: Tips on.
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I think there were a few tips passed around effort.
- 1:34:55Speaker 8: That was pretty Paul. Yeah, I have to work in
- 1:34:58Speaker 8: the col closet.
- 1:35:00Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: It was crazy.
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: I mean I did get to Reebok had a box
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: at that one, so we got to go to a
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: couple of games up in the I think I've told
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: the story. I was dropping ice out the window on
- 1:35:08Speaker 4: the poor fans below. I still feel terrible about that.
- 1:35:10Speaker 8: Oh so you were actually in the press box one.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, like that one, a big one overlooking from the side. Yeah,
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: it is that Rebok, the heyday of Rebok, Those days
- 1:35:20Speaker 4: where the mid eighties.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: I mean, I mean players would come, you know, players
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: from like Texas and stuff would come and say.
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: High school yeah, literally not as good as their high school, yeah,
- 1:35:31Speaker 8: let alone college.
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: Yeah, just a dump. And it was never nice, Like
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: from day one, it wasn't nice.
- 1:35:37Speaker 8: The day they opened it, it wasn't nice.
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: No, I was terrifying. I mean I went my mi
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: went there as a kid, before we were in there,
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: and before we were in the box, just sitting in
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: the stands and looking out into the like the cage
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: where they would like lock guys up and they were
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: like fights going on, and I'm like, the first.
- 1:35:50Speaker 8: Game I went to.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: Terrifying.
- 1:35:53Speaker 8: I will I will say the only redeeming quality the
- 1:35:57Speaker 8: stadium had was the sitelines for fans were excellent.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: Yeah, like wide open.
- 1:36:01Speaker 8: I mean the seats stunk, I mean most of them
- 1:36:04Speaker 8: were metal benches. Yeah, but you had like there was
- 1:36:08Speaker 8: good sightline.
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Do you remember when we were in the stands when
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: it rained there. I remember there being like a river
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: coming down like through the stands and there were so
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: many like kind of up and downs through the cement
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: stairs all around the stead. It was like you couldn't
- 1:36:20Speaker 4: walk down certain areas because there was just a plus one.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: As you probably remember, it was all bench seats, so
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: you know, you go to the bathroom and then someone
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: had slid over. You know, it's like that costed fights.
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: You know, it was just the bathrooms with the leaky
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: pipes and it's just something out of a horror movie.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: It was just terrible.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: I miss it.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Like we we had, we had, we had, we had
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: four season tickets between five guys and it got so bad,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: like we ended up arguing, oh, this is my week
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: to sit out. No, no, I went last week, you know,
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: like you didn't want to go at the end of it.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: It was terrible.
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: Well they were bad too, man. It was just not
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: a lot of good teams until those mid eighties they
- 1:37:01Speaker 4: had a couple, but then early nineties, woof.
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see Pat Nagawam, good afternoon. My question for
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: the day is do you think Bill is taking a
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: chance on unproven commodities at offensive tackle instead of signing
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: Corey Cunningham, who was released by the Giants has played
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: here and has proven he can play in the league.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: We're not getting anyone with a modicum of high level
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: talent at that position at this point, but why not
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: take someone with at least the system in NFL experience.
- 1:37:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I don't get it. I mean, I
- 1:37:30Speaker 4: guess if you want to look at the glass half full,
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: that they're they're trying to find somebody that they can
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: have long term that's you know, young, but it's just hard.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: I mean, from Calvin Anderson to to you know, these
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: two new guys that they traded for just not a
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: lot of experience, not a lot of you know, when
- 1:37:46Speaker 4: you get those free agents in and you say, this
- 1:37:48Speaker 4: is what this guy has done in the league, and
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: this is what he could do for us. Like all
- 1:37:51Speaker 4: of these guys, it's either you know, the older ones,
- 1:37:53Speaker 4: can he hold on? Can we squeeze one more season
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: out of it? Or you know, we're hoping that a
- 1:37:57Speaker 4: Calvin Anderson or a Tyrone or Vaderian Lowe is suddenly
- 1:38:01Speaker 4: going to come here and blossom into that tackle. But
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: it's a huge long term need next year too, and
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: when you's up too, So I mean you've just you've
- 1:38:07Speaker 4: got major questions and not just this year.
- 1:38:09Speaker 8: Yeah, would you feel better if they signed a guy
- 1:38:12Speaker 8: like Corey Cunningham.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: Specifically him, not really, because he's been here forever and
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: he couldn't even get on the field when they probably
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: could have used him.
- 1:38:18Speaker 8: So I mean he was I mean, he's spent two
- 1:38:20Speaker 8: years here, Like.
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: At least I can fool myself into thinking like Vederian
- 1:38:23Speaker 4: Low might develop into something because he hasn't been here before. Yeah,
- 1:38:26Speaker 4: that's probably the same guy.
- 1:38:27Speaker 8: Is he better than you know? More accomplished is probably
- 1:38:30Speaker 8: the better word than the two guys they signed. Yes,
- 1:38:32Speaker 8: he's played for parts of five seasons and he's participated
- 1:38:37Speaker 8: in thirty one career games, six starts all in his
- 1:38:41Speaker 8: rookie year in Arizona. Hasn't started a game since eighteen.
- 1:38:44Speaker 8: So what I think he's established himself as is not
- 1:38:47Speaker 8: good enough. But that's probably a higher level than these
- 1:38:50Speaker 8: two guys are at right now. But I don't think
- 1:38:52Speaker 8: he's an option for you to start.
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: Well, that's just like, what does the line look like
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: week one? I mean, you know, are these guys? I
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: think's right? You're probably gonna have two guys getting their
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: first career start against the Philly offensive defensive line.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I think it's so when you I think Fred's right,
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: David writes in he says Nick Folk is innocent. I
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: don't think Nick Folk regressed last year. I think the
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Jack Bailey, the Jake Bailey injury greatly impacted his kicking,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: considering Bailey had never been the ball holder for Folk
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: once Bailey got hurt, or had been the ball holder
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: once Bailey got hurt, Folk never looked the same. I
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: don't know was he well?
- 1:39:27Speaker 8: Then? So what do I need him for? I just
- 1:39:29Speaker 8: needed Jake Bailey back as the holder. I guess no, Listen,
- 1:39:33Speaker 8: I think that the Jake Bailey absence that you probably
- 1:39:38Speaker 8: is more relevant is the kickoff guy. I think the kickoffs,
- 1:39:42Speaker 8: the added workload to Folk probably affected him a little
- 1:39:45Speaker 8: bit in field goals, but even Nanny, I mean, it's
- 1:39:48Speaker 8: not like you fell apart. Yeah, the guy made roughly
- 1:39:51Speaker 8: not I mean, I don't have the numbers in front
- 1:39:52Speaker 8: of me, but I gotta think he was around ninety.
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: Percent inside of fifty even money, I gotta think he was.
- 1:39:57Speaker 8: He was around ninety percent in his time as a Patriot.
- 1:40:00Speaker 8: The field goals, Yeah, he was excellent.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Jason and Ohio loved the show. Been listening almost a decade.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Between Evan Paul Deuce, You've built the best Patriots talk
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: show available. Excellent chemistry and talent. Yes, the interviews you
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: put on YouTube, especially the Bill Belichick interviewers, have some
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: of the worst audio quality. You cannot hear reporters at all,
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: and even on max volume, Bill is barely audible. Incredibly
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: frustrating to be interested in this content when it is
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: consistently subpar. Sorry, just being honest.
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: Oh sorry, Well, new press conference room this year. I
- 1:40:37Speaker 4: don't know if that's a complaint going back to last.
- 1:40:38Speaker 8: Year, but we've had a lot of time. Yeah, I
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: actually had to go down and take part in like
- 1:40:42Speaker 8: a simulated press conference because they're trying to get that well,
- 1:40:46Speaker 8: you know, up to speed, but it's not.
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: Well Like for example, today, it was actually good at
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: least what I was listening. I could hear it, but
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: it varies, you know, depending on location and the equipment
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: that's available there and all that. So yeah, no, I
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: I share in David's frustration. Sometimes you can hear the
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: reporter's questions.
- 1:41:06Speaker 8: It's tough.
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: I don't know how you would get them consistently when
- 1:41:08Speaker 4: they're all over the room unless you had a guy
- 1:41:10Speaker 4: with a mic going.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Well, if you're in a set room that you use
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: all you can make it up in which we're doing
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: with the media workroom. But when you're outside or you're
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: on the road after a game, you never know what
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: that postgame press conference room is going to look like.
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: And sometimes it's tough. Yeah, you know, but I hear you.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: You know, we're always trying to get.
- 1:41:29Speaker 8: That another cut that some of the folks on Twitter
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: are reporting Anthony. Sorry, Claire, looks like Anthony Firkser is
- 1:41:41Speaker 8: being cut.
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: Okay, Roger and Saint Louis. I want to hear your
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: thoughts about the rest of the league. So let's get
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: your twenty twenty three seasons of perlatives. My choices are
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: in parentheses. Worst team, he says, the Falcons.
- 1:41:54Speaker 8: Oh, I would disagree. I think the Falcons building some
- 1:41:58Speaker 8: young especially old positions. Worst team in football?
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: Are the Colts going to be any good? Yeah?
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: That was what I was thinking.
- 1:42:08Speaker 8: I think the Cardinals will be the worst team.
- 1:42:09Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: They're trying to the most disappointing team, he says, the Eagles. Eagles,
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna say the Jets, of course.
- 1:42:21Speaker 8: Okay, so that's a good answer. Can you give me
- 1:42:23Speaker 8: what you really think? Now, the Jets, but your real answer.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: That's what I'm hoping.
- 1:42:28Speaker 8: I know that's what you're hoping.
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: Okay, Most disappointing.
- 1:42:33Speaker 8: Detroit Lions.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Well that could be. But what do the Broncos because
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: Peyton's there, if they're bad, is at a disappointing I
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: don't know, I know, but now they've got Sean Payton, I.
- 1:42:43Speaker 8: Know, but they still won like four games, like I know, maybe.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Five, But aren't hopes high there now that they don't him?
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: Most surprisingly good team Patriots? Okay, surprised, he says, Raiders.
- 1:42:59Speaker 8: Surprise.
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: I don't thinkers.
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: Who do we think is surprising?
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: I mean Carolina could be one of the worst teams too,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: By the way.
- 1:43:08Speaker 8: I think Carolina is decent. Yeah yeah, Now they're gonna
- 1:43:11Speaker 8: have a breaking in a rookie quarterback, so I don't
- 1:43:13Speaker 8: know how many games are gonna win, but they have
- 1:43:15Speaker 8: some talent. Surprisingly good team I don't.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: I mean, I don't think Jacksonville.
- 1:43:19Speaker 8: I think people are expecting Cargo Bears.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: Really Okay, wow, all right, that's a good one. What
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: about Packers? Speaking of I.
- 1:43:26Speaker 8: Think I think the Packers are good, yeah, in a
- 1:43:30Speaker 8: terrible conference.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Best offense, he says, the Chargers.
- 1:43:35Speaker 8: Best offense. I don't know. Man, I think I think that's.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: Proven best defense, he says, the Packers.
- 1:43:45Speaker 8: I mean, here's where you want to be. I want
- 1:43:47Speaker 8: to be ho horrific Patriots.
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: I like that Philly front.
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: Yeah I do too.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: Uh, he says. Also, what is your general level of
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: interest in the rest of the league this season? Like
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: how excited are you to watch non Patriots games. I
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: feel the least interested in this season as I have
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: in a long time, excluding the pandemic season.
- 1:44:06Speaker 8: See, I go the opposite. When the Patriots are really good,
- 1:44:09Speaker 8: I'm not all that interested in what anybody else is doing,
- 1:44:11Speaker 8: And when they're not, my interest is higher.
- 1:44:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm interested. I'm interested. I mean I brought
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: up Jacksonville. I am I'm curious to see those teams, like,
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: you know, teams on the rise that are, you know,
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: trying to take a next step and have a good
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: young quarterback. Like that's what interests me is is you know,
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: and of course Kansas City, are they gonna be able
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: to hang on and continue.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Their high level of play?
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: But but I think Jacksonville's is the team I'm curious
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: to watch. AFC South Fields kind of like it's there
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: for the taking if they if they're able to put
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: it together and it just might kind of, you know,
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: start to alter the power structure in the IIC a
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: little bit. And who is that Jacksonville?
- 1:44:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I think they're the odds on favorite again to
- 1:44:45Speaker 8: repeat in that division, but I don't know how good
- 1:44:48Speaker 8: they are.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: Yeah, That's that's why I'm kind of like, you know,
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: with Ridley in the mix with that, like.
- 1:44:52Speaker 8: There's there's two bad teams in that division and with
- 1:44:55Speaker 8: Houston and the Colts, and I think Tennessee will be okay. Yeah,
- 1:44:59Speaker 8: and I I think Jacksonville is the best. Now you
- 1:45:03Speaker 8: have to prove that you're worthy of that.
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: That's yeah, that's just kind of that's what I'm interested in.
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: You know, are they are they able to be? I
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: mean even the last year with the playoff game with
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: them against the Chargers, you know, that's kind of a
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: coming out moment potentially of of hate it all of
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: a sudden turning around. We'll see if they can carried over.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Uh David and Bethlehem, says Thornton is in the next
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: the next to go, can't block not good? Laterally speed
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: only when untouched. NFL is not yet a flag football league.
- 1:45:30Speaker 8: Did he just say, Thorntonton can't block.
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: Yeah, no kidding, So yeah, it's one hundred and nothing.
- 1:45:38Speaker 8: Yeah, like I didn't block. I don't draft my wide
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: receivers to block.
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: I mean it's it's unfortunate. Offensive line has sided.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: A little, breaking, well breaking, according to Jacket and Aba.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: He says, Yahoo is reporting the Patriots have cut Chasing Hines.
- 1:45:53Speaker 8: Yes, we reported that about forty five.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: Oh we did. Oh, I didn't know that. I thought
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: he was good.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: Mike just mentioned it with my words.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: I thought he was getting good, good reviews here, good enough.
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I guess, Yeah, duncan.
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: Hunh three rookies.
- 1:46:06Speaker 8: I mean it's like Jake Andrews, you know, like gotta
- 1:46:09Speaker 8: cut last year's draft. Pitts cut this year's draft. Tells
- 1:46:12Speaker 8: you you had a great draft.
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: You got to keep them all that last year's draft
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: is Jack says, Is anyone else concerned with Adrian Clem's
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: history of leaving the Steelers team halfway through the season
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: when he's heading into another difficult situation, not necessarily saying
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: he's going to leave again, but maybe says something about
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: his lack of ability to tough out a less than
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: ideal situation. I don't know what the circumstances.
- 1:46:35Speaker 8: I don't If I thought that he left Pittsburgh because
- 1:46:38Speaker 8: Pittsburgh was getting hard, I'd be worried about it. Yeah,
- 1:46:40Speaker 8: I don't think that's why, right. I think he got
- 1:46:42Speaker 8: offered a job that he felt was better at Oregon.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: Let's see two part question from Jesse and Dayton, Ohio.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: First part, I see the trades going down for players
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: like Isaiah Simmons. For seventh, we see all these athletes
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: getting graded for peanuts. Why do you think we never
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: make these raides. We make a lot of those trades. Actually, yeah,
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: you know, I just do a little. I think the
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: picture guys who never really did much and we'd give
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: them nothing, And.
- 1:47:10Speaker 8: I think they commuted their fair shared trades over the years.
- 1:47:13Speaker 8: But I mean, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Second part. I'm moving in the next two years. My
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: wife will be done with medical school and we're looking
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: at different places. I'd love to move up north near Boston,
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: but my wife doesn't want a crazy commute. What are
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: your opinions of the commute to work intoor? Good areas
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: to live near Boston?
- 1:47:31Speaker 4: Well, if she wants to take the train, you can
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: come live live near Foxboro.
- 1:47:35Speaker 8: There's it's a nice commuter rail right into the I
- 1:47:37Speaker 8: need more information where are you working, where you're working?
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: What you go to go to the back bay. You
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: gotta go to South State.
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: I mean if you're staying in Dayton, Ohio.
- 1:47:45Speaker 8: Yeah, that's a tough commute.
- 1:47:46Speaker 6: I agree.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: For the kids are back, Evan and Tamara are back.
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: Wow, first one of the years.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: All right, the floor is yours.
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: First of all, That's awesome that we have the practice
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: jingle back. I'm excited. That means we're getting closer. So
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: a little bit of absences and the grousing out there.
- 1:48:17Speaker 3: The grousing out there today was there was sixty seven
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: players on the field. We know that sixty nine guys,
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: including the sixteen man practice squad, are going to be here.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: So I think we have a pretty good idea roughly
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: of who the guys are that are going to be
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: on the team based off of practice today. So absences
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: and I know a few of these guys have already
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: been reported as cut or whatever. Nick Folk, Isaiah Bolden,
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: Taekwon Thornton, JJ Taylor, Chasing Hines, Riley, Reeve, Connor McDermott,
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: and Anthony Ferkser, so Folk and Chase and Hines have
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: already been reported gone, and Ferkser was just reported that
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: he's been cut by the Patriots as well. So JJ
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: Taylor seems to be the other name in that list
- 1:48:57Speaker 3: that might have gotten cut in time. Montgomery was there
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: and as was Kevin Harris. So either whether it's practice
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: squad for Kevin Harris or active roster, looks like those
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: two guys are here and JJ Taylor is not.
- 1:49:10Speaker 8: That's interesting. I would have thought they would have. Uh well,
- 1:49:13Speaker 8: I mean you could see he might be on the
- 1:49:14Speaker 8: practice squad too. But and Thornton some people said, was
- 1:49:18Speaker 8: up on the upper field or something. Taekwon Thornton.
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Taekwon Thornton was, you know, up there with the
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: we don't get into the upper field stuff too much.
- 1:49:27Speaker 8: No, but I just like, like, if he's not there
- 1:49:29Speaker 8: at all, you know you wanted it, but someone saw him. Yeah,
- 1:49:35Speaker 8: I mean I don't think there's anything terribly surprising there.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: And yeah, and Calvin Anderson was there today.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Calvin Anderson was there. And the two new tackles
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: were also there tomorrow. Douglas no longer in red, which
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: is which is good, and him and Booty were both
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: there and uh so.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: So we're back to just one person from each outlet. No,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: you can have multiple Okay.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: Yeah you can. But I think the biggest thing just
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: out of this list is just, uh, you know, some
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: of these guys, like for instance, Malie Cunningham was at practice.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: Now does that mean that they're hoping to get him
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: back on the practice squad so he's going to be
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: around or did he make the team?
- 1:50:19Speaker 8: Right? He said, there was sixty seven, sixty seven guys.
- 1:50:21Speaker 8: That's still fourteen guys out there that you guys saw
- 1:50:23Speaker 8: that won't be on the fifty three man roster. It's
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: still a lot.
- 1:50:26Speaker 4: Yes, must be weird practicing and then feeling like this
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: might be.
- 1:50:31Speaker 13: It for me.
- 1:50:31Speaker 8: Well, that's the whole timing with the premiere that Fred
- 1:50:34Speaker 8: and I were talking about. It used to be extremely
- 1:50:37Speaker 8: uncomfortable because there's potentially guys that are there that oh,
- 1:50:43Speaker 8: by the way, you just got claimed on waivers or whatever.
- 1:50:46Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: Right, Donald was talking about that this morning when I
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: was in her office. She said, like, even like trades
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: that have happened like today that the guys have come
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: in like whatever they've wore, like flying in here they
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: were to the premiere Wow, because they still had.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: To still have to come Wow. Sal writes in who
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: do you think is a dark horse candidate next in
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: line to get an extension with the team. I'll take
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: a gander at the crystal ball and say it's going
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: to be Anthony Jennings. He's been a team first, guy
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: who keeps his mouth shut, does all the dirty work,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: and doesn't accumulate all the fancy stats, not to mention
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: he won't be breaking the bank. I think all the
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: signs are there based on players they usually tend to
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: keep around.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: Gone, We'll sign Jennings though that that seems a checks
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: for the That's just.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: It's Anthony Jennings because he's affordable, right, Like, that's that's
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: what we're going off of here. All the rest of
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: that stuff, because God forbid, we pay Kyle Duggar to
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: stick around. Nope, can't do.
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: That, draft Marty Mapu, I hate that it has to
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: be like that though, like affordable, Yeah, that's uh.
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: I still think if you're them, you have to put
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: an offer in front of Kyle Duggart before week one,
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: whether he's signed it or not. As a totally different conversation,
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: but you have to at least try like they did
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: with you know, Shaq Mason and John Jones and other guys.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: Should I read a negative email about Hardy? Sure, Okay,
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: I'll make sure Noah in Chicago. First, thank you for everything.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: This is my favorite podcast to listen to, and as
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: a Patriots transplant, your show really keeps me connected to
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: all things Patriots. Second, I wanted to thank you guys
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: for bringing Evan on the show. It's been awesome listening
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: to his thoughts and opinions, and I really appreciate the
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: insight he provides. Third, not to be rude, but is
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Hardy on the chopping block? I know he's a friend
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: of the show, but the pre and post game shows
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: have become largely about soothing or feeding Hardy's ego, and
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: he offers little actual information about the team or the game.
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: It's so frustrated. Wow, we should bring this accurate Hardy
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: to I don't know if Hardy has an ego. I think,
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: if anything in this room, I think if anything, he's
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: got inferior play.
- 1:53:00Speaker 8: Yes, I would agree.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: You know, he's a very busy guy. He's got ninety
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: eight point five and he does serious. He's got the
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: music show, you know, so he's got golf, the golf
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: show that he does show. But he gets free stuff
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: for that, so I'm a little jealous. He gets clubs
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: he took care of. Yes, I did custom p HG clubs.
- 1:53:21Speaker 8: He gave you clubs?
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: No, he got those he got free and I got
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: his leftovers. Oh did you?
- 1:53:28Speaker 8: He said he gave me a set of irons?
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Nice? What kind?
- 1:53:31Speaker 8: I don't know. I didn't look at him yet.
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: You don't even look at him.
- 1:53:34Speaker 8: No, we just the other night when we were leave,
- 1:53:36Speaker 8: when he put him in my.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Trunk, so you have you're not even curious to what
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: they are.
- 1:53:41Speaker 8: No, I'll look at him when I get a chance.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: I would want to know what kind of clubs I
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: got some new clubs? Are you excited? I've been working
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: on the set of irons.
- 1:53:51Speaker 4: Just rolling around in the back of his car, right
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: a bag.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I'd want to know, like the Calloways, the aspect that
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: from him, not you, I expect, you know, like i'd
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: be excited to get a new set of eyes.
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: Mike, how's your putting?
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: Hell?
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: No, I just I used to go off a little bit,
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: but I just I'm not the time, the time, the time,
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: A dedicated guy.
- 1:54:14Speaker 8: Yeah, he's got blogs.
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: A lot of times.
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: I've said before when we lived in California, we had
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: a Part three near my house that in the Part
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: three nine hole really nice. It was great, short, easy
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: to play, didn't have to hit the drivers or anything
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: like that. You could just go on with a nine
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: at the wedge. And I love that kind of go.
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: Over under before the deadline today. Number of trades, hey point.
- 1:54:37Speaker 8: Another one after so we count.
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: Another trade.
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: I'm gonna say no, I'm gonna say they're done. Three trades.
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: I think is enough.
- 1:54:47Speaker 8: Yeah, I'll say under.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: I say, I say over.
- 1:54:50Speaker 8: Now, you didn't say like claiming guys off.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: No, no, no, there's gonna be tons of that. Yeah,
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: I'm talking about, you know, a straight trade asset for
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: asset one.
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: How many players start for the Patriots in Week one
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: that are not currently on or not currently let's just
- 1:55:08Speaker 4: say as of the last preseason game, we're not on
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: the roster.
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: The active raw st. Yeah it was Calvin Anderson.
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: That's that's okay too, like one. But I'm saying to
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: their guys that were on other teams for training camp
- 1:55:20Speaker 4: that you think are going to start. I don't think so,
- 1:55:22Speaker 4: and i'd include those two tackles as potentially I don't think.
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: I don't think any of them.
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: No.
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: I think Calvin Anderson might. But he's kind of the
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: right tackle. We were talking about that because he we
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: saw him exclusively a left tackle in the spring, and
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: he's mostly played on the left side in Denver as well.
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: But you would think week one you're gonna have to
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: platoon him. I don't think he can go wire to
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: wire without any training camp or preseason, so switching out,
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: like would you would you flip it just to I
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: don't think so. That's too many moving parts. So I
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: alould think that he would be on the right side
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: and maybe he platoons it with one of the new
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: guys or city so or something like that.
- 1:55:59Speaker 4: Wait, what was the grousing in the Get.
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: To the gro Oh? No, the grousing was just about
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: you know who's there?
- 1:56:06Speaker 9: Who?
- 1:56:06Speaker 6: You know?
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: It was this guy practiced and you.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Know we'll get the list and everyone.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: Find well, it's you know in the grousing's defense. Okay,
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: when you when you have to write, when you have
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: to write an instant analysis of the of the team,
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: the job to be and and they take until eight
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: o'clock at night to set out the press release of
- 1:56:33Speaker 3: who was cut and that that that's fair. It's it's
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: a legit, right.
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: I thought you were going to say that the time
- 1:56:40Speaker 4: frame was too short of access to view, that you
- 1:56:43Speaker 4: couldn't get through.
- 1:56:44Speaker 3: I mean it was so there was a little bit
- 1:56:47Speaker 3: of Bill grousing because Bill gets up to the podium
- 1:56:49Speaker 3: and says, we have a lot of balls in the
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: air or whatever it is that he said. The second
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: he walks off the podium, Nick Folk gets traded, Calvin
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: Anderson comes off of n F. I like the balls
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: started to drop, Like the time that was very impeccable.
- 1:57:06Speaker 5: It was like immediately after he left the room.
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: Oh, I mean it could have you know, it could
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: have happened while he was walking there and he didn't
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: actually know until.
- 1:57:14Speaker 4: He's off he's off the podium. Go ahead, pull pull
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: the trigger.
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: I took it from literally bears probably in the room.
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: Like go spiing. Fresno says, no one Chicago can go
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: get bent already absolutely contributes solid and extensive analysis in
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: the pre and postgame shows. He's also hilarious and gives
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: good krusty he does. He does a good crusty the clown.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: He does that really well. And this is a big
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: season for him because he's a big Detroit Lions fan,
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: so he's got high hopes.
- 1:57:47Speaker 8: That's one of the reasons why I picked them as
- 1:57:48Speaker 8: my disappointing.
- 1:57:49Speaker 4: To Ah, he gave you his irons. You haven't even
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: looked at him, and you're already needling.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: I know. Did you at least thank him?
- 1:57:58Speaker 6: Of course?
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: What did you just like toss some into the thing
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: without even looking?
- 1:58:01Speaker 8: He said, So we went. We went to play last week.
- 1:58:05Speaker 8: We played at this club, at his club, his club,
- 1:58:08Speaker 8: mister Hardy Bushwood. There was a lot of mister Hardy.
- 1:58:13Speaker 8: So as we were playing and he said, you know,
- 1:58:16Speaker 8: I have a set in my garage that that I'm
- 1:58:18Speaker 8: not using. And I was like, you don't need to
- 1:58:20Speaker 8: do that, Like I don't you know. He's like, no, listen,
- 1:58:23Speaker 8: they literally do not get used. They're just sitting there.
- 1:58:26Speaker 8: Take them. You know, you might rather than go out
- 1:58:29Speaker 8: and buy a sad or whatever. I was like, if
- 1:58:31Speaker 8: you're really never ever using these, by all me, I
- 1:58:35Speaker 8: was very thankful.
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: He could have sold them.
- 1:58:37Speaker 8: He absolutely could.
- 1:58:38Speaker 4: Looking for new clubs, and you asked hardy about the
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: ones you who would have looked at them instantly, not
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: just like it's a dead body at two.
- 1:58:46Speaker 8: O'clock in the morning, and I didn't give a quick
- 1:58:49Speaker 8: look at the reins when they go and there, She's like,
- 1:58:51Speaker 8: you gotta eat.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: That was like a week That was like a week
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: ago Friday night. Yeah, so between now and then, you're
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: not even curious what kind of clubs are in your
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: in your trunk.
- 1:59:02Speaker 8: I feel like, well, to me, it doesn't matter because
- 1:59:04Speaker 8: I don't know enough about the clubs to say, oh,
- 1:59:06Speaker 8: they are too sos like I.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Don't know, so then why not just keep using the
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: clubs you have?
- 1:59:11Speaker 8: It's minor from nineteen seventy three.
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: They're like the blades, correct your woods are actually made of? Would?
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: No, I haven't I have for Simmons.
- 1:59:19Speaker 8: I have a new driver. But the irons are legitimately
- 1:59:22Speaker 8: like an original set of pings.
- 1:59:24Speaker 1: They're like rusty.
- 1:59:26Speaker 8: Getting there.
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, iron sharp.
- 1:59:28Speaker 24: But then all the more reason to be excited about it.
- 1:59:30Speaker 24: I am excited about them what they are. But when
- 1:59:33Speaker 24: I play, I'll let you know. You know how they felt, my.
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: Guess, and this is what I next spring, he'll find out.
- 1:59:42Speaker 8: No I play, I play, I play every week. My guess,
- 1:59:46Speaker 8: and this is what I told Hardy, is it's user error.
- 1:59:49Speaker 8: It's not the club like I understand. The clubs are
- 1:59:51Speaker 8: really old. Yeah, and even if I hit them all
- 1:59:53Speaker 8: exactly right, they would not be as good as you know,
- 1:59:56Speaker 8: normal clubs. But my guess is, I'm not going to
- 1:59:59Speaker 8: hit the new ones any better they hit the old
- 2:00:00Speaker 8: ones because it's me. It's my fault.
- 2:00:02Speaker 4: Okay, the problem, it's you.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: Correct, So then he should have given the clubs to me.
- 2:00:07Speaker 8: Well, I've played with you.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: Oh wow, wow, probably right, it's not probably.
- 2:00:15Speaker 4: The country club game.
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: I've gotten better for you.
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: I don't want to play you in tennis though, better
- 2:00:20Speaker 3: bring your sunscreened no golf.
- 2:00:22Speaker 8: I've gotten better. All right.
