- 1:53Speaker 1: a soul fella here the aired out podcast. Fifteen degrees
- 2:01Speaker 1: below zero at my house this morning. That's partly the
- 2:10Speaker 1: reason why I'm still wearing my coat this morning. Negative fifteen.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Come on, JD. I know, I know it gets colder
- 2:23Speaker 1: than that. What are you complaining about, JD? You live
- 2:27Speaker 1: in Vermont. Get used to it. You should be used
- 2:31Speaker 1: to it by now. What are you some kind of flatlander?
- 2:36Speaker 1: Negative fifteen, JD. It's not that bad. I know that's
- 2:41Speaker 1: what some of you are saying. Some of you are thinking,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and I know others of you, like Stacy Holton, who
- 2:50Speaker 1: have spent their whole lives up here in Fromont are
- 2:55Speaker 1: now basking in the sunshine in the ball me temperatures
- 3:01Speaker 1: of North Carolina. Well, we up here are suffering. This
- 3:08Speaker 1: is one of those mornings in Stacy, you know exactly
- 3:11Speaker 1: what I'm talking about when because you remember when you
- 3:14Speaker 1: pull out of your driveway and it feels like you've
- 3:19Speaker 1: got concrete in your tires. That was this morning for me.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Right here in Barry, I'm showing negative eleven right now.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'll give you the details here on the forecast. In
- 3:34Speaker 1: just a little bit. But first, good morning, Thank you
- 3:38Speaker 1: for starting your day with me. Where the hell's my
- 3:42Speaker 1: coffee somewhere? I hope wherever yours is it's still hot.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Thanks for checking out our website aired outvt dot com.
- 3:59Speaker 1: It's all right there. The Facebook, the YouTube, what We're about,
- 4:03Speaker 1: what we do our digital platform here at the Airdop

- 4:17Speaker 1: and print and radio outlets. We love to promote civic engagement.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Where am I going with this? This morning I received
- 4:39Speaker 1: a phone call that is really really significant for me.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I probably shouldn't talk about it too much because I
- 4:52Speaker 1: don't want to tease it anymore than I could or should.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But there's an episode that's coming up that I can't wait.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I just can't wait for it. And yes, of course
- 5:13Speaker 1: it's it's Thursday with g of course it is and

- 5:48Speaker 1: going to be an episode that is going to stick
- 5:54Speaker 1: to your bones. I promise you. Doctor Katie Ralston, the
- 6:05Speaker 1: superintendent of Silver Creek Central School District, will be with
- 6:10Speaker 1: me tomorrow morning, and she's going to say things that
- 6:22Speaker 1: you will remember throughout the day, things that will hopefully
- 6:29Speaker 1: reverberate in your soul, not just throughout the day, but
- 6:34Speaker 1: for the rest of the week and maybe beyond, as
- 6:38Speaker 1: is the case often with my guests from Sweethearts and
- 6:43Speaker 1: heroes on Wednesdays, it's going to be amazing. Hey, happy
- 6:48Speaker 1: birthday today to my good pal who is really really
- 6:56Speaker 1: starting to cut his teeth in podcasting. Can lose twenty
- 7:02Speaker 1: three today? I think I'm pretty sure see the twenty
- 7:08Speaker 1: three or twenty four. It's twenty three. I believe the
- 7:13Speaker 1: host the brainchild of the Athletics podcast on Saturday Mornings
- 7:21Speaker 1: at ten thirty. He's a good dude. He's a great dude,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and he's doing some great things with his new podcast
- 7:31Speaker 1: Saturday Mornings. Right here where we are now, Logan lose
- 7:35Speaker 1: Brittany White, who I've known forever on the birthday list today.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Don't want to know how old she is. Giselle Schweenard,
- 7:50Speaker 1: Liz Reid, McCullen McQuillan, rather on the air. We're doing
- 7:55Speaker 1: it right now, Liz, Happy birthday to you. We have
- 8:03Speaker 1: Mia Montoya, we have and I don't know if if
- 8:09Speaker 1: Mia is listening this morning, but I could do a
- 8:15Speaker 1: whole episode just about that woman alone. What an angel
- 8:21Speaker 1: she is, Angels that walk among us. That's one right there,
- 8:27Speaker 1: Mia Montoya. And if you're listening, Mia, I'll never be
- 8:36Speaker 1: able to thank you. And you know what I'm talking about.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Let's see who else do we have? Justin Pelanquin, there's
- 8:48Speaker 1: a guy that I haven't spoken with in a long time. Great, great,
- 8:52Speaker 1: great guy. Damn well, it's just like getting my heart
- 8:57Speaker 1: going this morning. Tom Laired, Happy birthday, Mike Lannon is

- 9:17Speaker 1: Mikaela LAMBERTI look at this and if she were with
- 9:24Speaker 1: us today, it would be Case Santimore's birthday. It is
- 9:34Speaker 1: Case Santamora's birthday, and not only do her friends still
- 9:41Speaker 1: miss her, but her community does still. Before even get
- 9:52Speaker 1: started this morning, I want to say this if you
- 9:56Speaker 1: are looking, and I'm going to be heading over there
- 9:58Speaker 1: like either today tomorrow, if you're looking for a gift

- 10:31Speaker 1: to Optical Expressions. And this is what everyone's going to

- 11:15Speaker 1: They're going to help you out quality eye care that
- 11:18Speaker 1: literally you can see, it's the only place I go.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Glasses I'm wearing right now. We're from Optical Expressions made
- 11:30Speaker 1: by Will. He did such a great job and this
- 11:34Speaker 1: is one of two specs that I've got from Optical Expressions.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Still need to use my gift certificate from last year
- 11:42Speaker 1: to get those shades that I really want, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 1: the ones that I won't lose, the ones that I
- 11:50Speaker 1: won't sit on, the ones that will never fall, and
- 11:55Speaker 1: get scratched those sunglasses. I'm just checking the roads this
- 12:04Speaker 1: morning and they're pretty clear. However, uh, there are some
- 12:11Speaker 1: slick spots in areas where things have melted and then
- 12:20Speaker 1: stuffing up a little bit. I don't want to say
- 12:22Speaker 1: the F word freeze, but just be careful. Even though
- 12:27Speaker 1: the sun is shining, even though things may you know,
- 12:32Speaker 1: soften up. In some areas, you could come upon a
- 12:36Speaker 1: patch of black ice easily. That's Hartford. That's Brookfield right now,
- 12:43Speaker 1: literally right now, there's Hartford again, Brookfield again, and it
- 12:49Speaker 1: looks like there's Bethel so as you can see see
- 12:54Speaker 1: see that shining stuff right up there top left of
- 12:57Speaker 1: your screen. Just be careful on that stuff. That's all
- 13:01Speaker 1: I'm saying. And I don't want to sound like your mother,
- 13:06Speaker 1: but just be careful. Drive, be careful driving south Burlington.
- 13:14Speaker 1: There's Waterbury Route one hundred. You know, just go easy
- 13:19Speaker 1: this morning, use some you know, common sense. Remember that yesterday.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Just a big thanks and a shout out to Josh Miller,
- 13:34Speaker 1: the head of Vermont Fatherhood. What a great freaking guy
- 13:38Speaker 1: he was yesterday is I really look forward to having
- 13:45Speaker 1: more conversations with him. Yesterday when he left, I was
- 13:48Speaker 1: like damn, I got more questions, I got more ideas,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I got more comments. Fatherhood. That's that's a word that
- 14:00Speaker 1: not many of us here too much anymore. Fatherhood. What's
- 14:06Speaker 1: the difference between being a father and a dad? I
- 14:14Speaker 1: have a lot to say about that, a lot, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: I will in time. Josh is going to be a
- 14:23Speaker 1: regular guest the first Monday of I'm sorry, the second
- 14:31Speaker 1: Monday of every month, second Monday of every month. And
- 14:38Speaker 1: here's why, because in a millisecond of meeting this guy,
- 14:45Speaker 1: when I met him months months ago, I knew right
- 14:49Speaker 1: away that this is the kind of dude that I
- 14:54Speaker 1: want to be connected with. This is the kind of
- 14:56Speaker 1: guy that I want to be part of. His mission
- 15:03Speaker 1: to promote good fatherhood, what it means to be a
- 15:09Speaker 1: good father, which is very much biological term, but what
- 15:22Speaker 1: it means to be even more so a great dad.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And this guy's really He's on it from mydfatherhood dot
- 15:33Speaker 1: org is a website that you really should check out.
- 15:37Speaker 1: He's right here on North Main Street. And I was
- 15:40Speaker 1: getting wind of Josh Miller before he opened up the
- 15:48Speaker 1: good folks. My buddy Phil over at the well Space
- 15:53Speaker 1: building was telling me about him. That this is a
- 15:56Speaker 1: massive movement right here in Barry to bring fathers together
- 16:03Speaker 1: to be better, to do more for our kids, to
- 16:07Speaker 1: do right by them, to make better decisions, and to
- 16:13Speaker 1: evoke thought and conversation about fatherhood and the role that
- 16:22Speaker 1: fathers play. And that very thing happened last night at
- 16:31Speaker 1: my house. Charylyn said, I watched a podcast today with
- 16:36Speaker 1: Josh Miller and we got into a conversation and it
- 16:40Speaker 1: was a really good one. It was a healthy one.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I love that. I love stuff like that. So much
- 16:48Speaker 1: more to be said in that department, And we're gonna
- 16:53Speaker 1: do it again second Monday of every month. It's gonna
- 16:56Speaker 1: be great. It's gonna be great morning to everybody. Gosh, yeah, yeah, Cabot.
- 17:02Speaker 1: What do we have in Cabot? Minus thirteen And we've
- 17:09Speaker 1: now warmed up in Cabot according to Shirley up to zero.
- 17:15Speaker 1: That's a whole thirt thirteen degrees warm up up to
- 17:21Speaker 1: zero negative fifteen at my house this morning. Has anyone
- 17:30Speaker 1: else other than me heard over the last couple of days. Wow,
- 17:35Speaker 1: it's been such a cold winter already so far. It's
- 17:37Speaker 1: not even the middle of December yet, and we've already
- 17:41Speaker 1: had you know, this arctic blast, polar vortex, whatever the
- 17:46Speaker 1: hell this cold usually and I'm no meteorologist, but is
- 17:57Speaker 1: it just is it just me? Or does this seem
- 17:59Speaker 1: like just a little bit exceptionally early. I don't know
- 18:05Speaker 1: what say you? Is it seems like these are like
- 18:09Speaker 1: January February tempts or my off base, I don't know,
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's cold. I'm to give a shout out this morning
- 18:21Speaker 1: to a great lady who is doing so much with
- 18:26Speaker 1: her team over at the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jeanette Kingsbury. I don't know how many of you know
- 18:34Speaker 1: Jeanette Kingsbury. I'm assuming many of you do, daughter of
- 18:43Speaker 1: George Mallick, go Getter, huge go Getter and the head
- 18:53Speaker 1: of the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce. They have been
- 18:58Speaker 1: so active in sharing what's happening in and around Central
- 19:02Speaker 1: Vermont and putting the spotlight on new members and others
- 19:10Speaker 1: who have really gotten involved in their community. Lately. We
- 19:18Speaker 1: are just a couple of weeks from twenty twenty six,
- 19:27Speaker 1: a couple of weeks left in twenty twenty five, and
- 19:32Speaker 1: the Vermont Chamber Advocacy team is so busy right now
- 19:38Speaker 1: getting ready for the upcoming legislative session in twenty twenty
- 19:43Speaker 1: six on Thursday, that would be the day after tomorrow,
- 19:48Speaker 1: December eleventh, at nine o'clock in the morning, I'm going
- 19:52Speaker 1: to tell you what's happening. The State Chamber is going
- 19:54Speaker 1: to be coming to the Central Vermont Chamber of Commerce
- 19:58Speaker 1: office at nine o'clock. They'll be there for about an
- 20:02Speaker 1: hour and a half, probably longer, but this is an
- 20:06Speaker 1: opportunity for you to hear directly from the legislative priorities
- 20:19Speaker 1: that are going to be impacting you and your business,
- 20:26Speaker 1: small or large in twenty twenty six and beyond. This
- 20:34Speaker 1: is an opportunity for you to not only hear what's
- 20:38Speaker 1: going on, but also to share your voice on issues
- 20:42Speaker 1: that matter most to you. Everybody's welcome, whether you're a
- 20:47Speaker 1: member of the Chamber of Commerce or not. We encourage
- 20:54Speaker 1: you to take part in this conversation, which is going
- 20:58Speaker 1: to be important and discuss the future of small business
- 21:08Speaker 1: in Vermont. And I know that everybody and their brother
- 21:13Speaker 1: has got an opinion about that, and so do I.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So big stuff happening. Also want to give out a
- 21:24Speaker 1: shout this morning to the Family Center of Washington County.
- 21:30Speaker 1: They continue to do such incredible work. And I'm thinking
- 21:36Speaker 1: of them because they're a member of the Chamber of
- 21:40Speaker 1: Commerce and the programs, one of the almost two hundred
- 21:48Speaker 1: and ninety six members right now, and the Family Center
- 21:52Speaker 1: of Washington County is making a real difference in our community.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I don't know if you have seen their Facebook page
- 22:03Speaker 1: of who they're collaborating with and the good things that
- 22:06Speaker 1: they're doing, making a real difference for not just children,
- 22:12Speaker 1: but families. They're bringing dads together, they got dad playgroups
- 22:17Speaker 1: that they do. It's just awesome everything they do. So
- 22:25Speaker 1: if you get a chance, check them out. I'm gonna
- 22:33Speaker 1: see if we can connect with my buddy here, Tom.
- 22:44Speaker 1: See if we can get him on Tom Murphy from
- 22:49Speaker 1: Sweethearts and Heroes. See if he answers this morning. Usually
- 22:56Speaker 1: when he sees me calling, doesn't answer. I let's see
- 23:03Speaker 1: if we can get them on though this morning.
- 23:05Speaker 2: See there, Ad, I'm on the other line. Can I
- 23:08Speaker 2: call you right back?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Of course you can, buddy.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna call you back, and you better be
- 23:13Speaker 3: ready for me, baby, because I'm gonna eat you alive.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm always ready for you. All right, Bye, there is
- 23:20Speaker 1: timepy Uh, you know listen. Many great things have happened
- 23:32Speaker 1: to me over the last year, and I reflect on
- 23:35Speaker 1: them often. One of the greatest things on a well
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know, I was going to say a professional level,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but it's also on a personal level, is Sweethearts and
- 23:53Speaker 1: Heroes and my collaboration with them to bring their mission
- 24:01Speaker 1: of the great things that they're doing and have done
- 24:04Speaker 1: and we'll do tomorrow onto my airwaves. I don't know
- 24:09Speaker 1: how much Wednesday programming you have caught, but it is,
- 24:16Speaker 1: in my opinion, always inspiring and always so enjoyable to
- 24:23Speaker 1: have Sweethearts and Heroes on the air. Just great. And
- 24:30Speaker 1: Tom Murphy, the CEO, I want to just pause here
- 24:40Speaker 1: for a second and tell you about Wednesday tomorrow over
- 24:51Speaker 1: at the well Space building right here in Barry at
- 24:55Speaker 1: twenty three Summer Street, something that's started a few years ago.
- 25:03Speaker 1: It is not every Wednesday, but it is tomorrow, and
- 25:12Speaker 1: I've got the dates here going through. There's only going
- 25:16Speaker 1: to be one in December, two in January, three in January,
- 25:23Speaker 1: three in February, three in March, but only one in
- 25:25Speaker 1: December because this is such a busy month. I'm talking
- 25:27Speaker 1: about wellness Wednesday over at the well Space building. This
- 25:36Speaker 1: is a community effort in conjunction with not only all
- 25:41Speaker 1: of the practitioners in that building, but through Washington County
- 25:45Speaker 1: Mental Health. They open up their doors over there to
- 25:49Speaker 1: everyone in anyone who wants to come in on a Wednesday,
- 25:54Speaker 1: beginning at four point thirty for a little bit of
- 25:57Speaker 1: free peace. I'm to unplug. From four thirty until seven o'clock.
- 26:04Speaker 1: You can try all of the services for free, from acupuncture, meditation, yoga.
- 26:10Speaker 1: They've got hot tea, chair and table massages, reiche MYO
- 26:16Speaker 1: facial body release, and the list goes on. If you
- 26:21Speaker 1: would like to reserve your time for one of the
- 26:26Speaker 1: chair or table massages or maybe the sound healing, just
- 26:30Speaker 1: call rop in four seven nine four zero five five.
- 26:33Speaker 1: You should call it right now and say this is
- 26:36Speaker 1: the time I want to be there, from four thirty
- 26:39Speaker 1: until seven o'clock. Again, leave your wallet at home. It's free.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Four seven nine four zero five to five. Washington County
- 26:48Speaker 1: Mental Health serve in our central Vermont community for over
- 26:57Speaker 1: sixty years now. We're talking about nearly ten thousand Vermonors
- 27:03Speaker 1: every year that benefit in some way directly or indirectly
- 27:08Speaker 1: from Washington County Mental Health. They do amazing work. Make
- 27:11Speaker 1: sure you find them on Facebook, give them a like,
- 27:14Speaker 1: give them a share, WCMS let's see get in a
- 27:21Speaker 1: note here. Please go to the Facebook to donate to
- 27:24Speaker 1: Jen Anderson the GoFundMe to help help her fight cancer.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Needs to go to Boston. Thanks Tammy for letting us
- 27:35Speaker 1: know that. Wow, that is one fight that I hope
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm never fighting, and one fight that I know so
- 27:54Speaker 1: many people who are so brave and are fighting have
- 27:59Speaker 1: fought fight. And I was thinking about Rosian and Sayers
- 28:05Speaker 1: just a couple of days ago. It was her birthday
- 28:10Speaker 1: and the vicious fight that she put up against cancer actively,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I mean everything that she embodied constantly fundraising and doing events, walks,
- 28:35Speaker 1: Penguin Plunge. I think she did well. That was that
- 28:38Speaker 1: was for that was for special Olympics. But there was
- 28:44Speaker 1: something else that she did in Burlington that was huge.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I think it was the big cancer walk that they
- 28:49Speaker 1: do every year. But Rosian and Sayers was what a fighter,
- 28:55Speaker 1: what a lady. I loved having her on the air
- 28:58Speaker 1: here and she was always so positive, full of life,
- 29:04Speaker 1: joking around, goofing around. Came in here addressed as what
- 29:08Speaker 1: Grinch one time and got on the air with me.
- 29:13Speaker 1: It's amazing. Our community calendar is it is so full
- 29:23Speaker 1: right now with stuff going on, and I'm posting as
- 29:29Speaker 1: much as I can and as frequently as I can.
- 29:35Speaker 1: But the community calendar is front and center because of
- 29:41Speaker 1: the World Newspaper, our favorite weekly newspaper reaching well over
- 29:48Speaker 1: twenty two thousand readers every single week vtdashworld dot com
- 29:56Speaker 1: for the digital version. But I get on there and
- 29:59Speaker 1: I have so much fun thumb and through the world.
- 30:07Speaker 1: One of the items that's always in there is the
- 30:11Speaker 1: Tuesday night dinner at the Berry American Legion. It is tonight, yes, Tuesday,
- 30:16Speaker 1: twelve dollars. You can dine in the heats on or
- 30:22Speaker 1: you can take out. It's served up at five point thirty.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Please order head if you can four seven nine nine
- 30:30Speaker 1: zero five eight and keep an eye on the Barry
- 30:33Speaker 1: Post ten Facebook page and the World Newspaper for the menu,
- 30:38Speaker 1: which I got the world right here in front of me,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and it says tonight chicken Alfredo. Last Tuesday was beef
- 30:49Speaker 1: stroking Off, and I think the weekend before then it
- 30:53Speaker 1: was Shepherd's Pie. I know it's so sad that I
- 30:58Speaker 1: would have these memorized, but These are the comfort foods
- 31:03Speaker 1: that we love so much this time of year. Chicken
- 31:07Speaker 1: out fredom God, when's the lasagna coming up? They had
- 31:12Speaker 1: that not too long ago. Can't get enough of it again?
- 31:15Speaker 1: Four to seven nine nine zero five eight for the
- 31:18Speaker 1: Tuesday night meal at the American Legion. I'm always talking
- 31:24Speaker 1: about the Legion. I love them over there, great people also.
- 31:32Speaker 1: That's today tomorrow. Wing Wednesday at the VFW Post seven
- 31:36Speaker 1: to ninety in Barry starts at five. You go in there,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you throw them a couple of bucks. I think it's
- 31:43Speaker 1: what a dollar a wing, and they're big. You sit down, relax,
- 31:50Speaker 1: and you put your order in. They've got the honey barbecue,
- 31:55Speaker 1: they've got spicy stuff. They got dry rubs, they got
- 31:58Speaker 1: wet rubs. They got what's the one that Ron Tallman
- 32:01Speaker 1: does over there, the garlic parmeersan. Has anyone smelled Ron
- 32:09Speaker 1: Tolman's breath after he's had a couple of those? Go
- 32:14Speaker 1: in there, enjoy some wings. Wednesdays at the VFW Post

- 33:40Speaker 1: Also on Saturday, the Holly Jolly Holidays at the Berlin
- 33:44Speaker 1: Elementary School. That's huge. Next weekend, on Saturday, the twentieth,
- 33:51Speaker 1: we have the Falling into the Holidays craft event going
- 33:55Speaker 1: on over at the Barry Elks Lodge. The VFW has
- 34:00Speaker 1: their big breakfast that they do every what is it
- 34:04Speaker 1: third Saturday of the month, I think, but We'll be
- 34:09Speaker 1: promoting the crap out of that all over the page
- 34:12Speaker 1: starts at seven in the morning, Cook to Order ten Bucks.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's incredible. And then in February, looking all the way
- 34:24Speaker 1: ahead to February Night to Shine, you talk a lot
- 34:28Speaker 1: about a lot about that on the air, Freezing fun
- 34:32Speaker 1: for Families, I'm gonna be talking a lot about that.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Got the forty third annual Central from on Gun Show.
- 34:39Speaker 1: In February, You're gonna talk a lot about that too.
- 34:42Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff happening again. I started out
- 34:52Speaker 1: this morning telling you that I received a phone call
- 35:04Speaker 1: about an upcoming episode that was questionable whether or not
- 35:10Speaker 1: it was going to happen. And I have just learned
- 35:16Speaker 1: literally minutes ago that it is going to happen. And
- 35:29Speaker 1: I don't want to say too much more about it
- 35:33Speaker 1: other than I'll be well prepared. Here's your Tuesday morning forecast,
- 35:45Speaker 1: and then I'm going to close with some I don't
- 35:48Speaker 1: know if Tom's going to give us a ring back
- 35:49Speaker 1: or not, but I want to. I want to close
- 35:53Speaker 1: with something this morning. Or We're gonna have plenty of
- 36:00Speaker 1: sunshine today, maybe some clouds rolling in for the afternoon.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Highs around twenty. Okay, so we got a ways to go.
- 36:11Speaker 1: It is gonna be going upward Tonight. It is going
- 36:20Speaker 1: to be another cold one snow showers, cloudy, and fourteen
- 36:32Speaker 1: for the low, thank you, Glenn. Wednesday Tomorrow cloudy and
- 36:39Speaker 1: snow thirty three for the high. How much snow? Couple
- 36:44Speaker 1: of inches? I don't want to say three, I don't
- 36:49Speaker 1: want to say four. I don't want to say one.
- 36:55Speaker 1: But a couple of inches of snow, all right, And
- 36:58Speaker 1: there's gonna be you know, some snow bands coming through
- 37:02Speaker 1: that are gonna put down more than that, Just try carefully.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Thursday looks like a mix of sun clouds, more clouds
- 37:16Speaker 1: in the afternoon than sun highs around twenty eight. Okay, okay,
- 37:23Speaker 1: had some electrical issues at my house last week. Boy
- 37:30Speaker 1: was that fun. You never know when you're gonna have
- 37:38Speaker 1: electrical issues. But when the lights in your house are
- 37:44Speaker 1: doing their own light show and you have no control
- 37:49Speaker 1: over that light show, like strobe lights, things are short.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Now there's a big problem somewhere. And I'll say I'll
- 38:03Speaker 1: save the rest of the story for g on Thursday,
- 38:05Speaker 1: because quite honestly, uh you you probably won't believe it,
- 38:12Speaker 1: but I'm gonna tell you anyways. Oh, I hope things
- 38:18Speaker 1: warm up soon for the electrician to come back. I
- 38:23Speaker 1: pray that they'll come back and get on the outside
- 38:28Speaker 1: of the house. I would not want to do that today. Uh,
- 38:38Speaker 1: try Tom one more time here. He is literally literally
- 38:45Speaker 1: one of the busiest guys on the entire planet that
- 38:50Speaker 1: that I know. Tom Murphy from Sweethearts and Heroes. Rick.
- 38:58Speaker 1: By the way, rick Yarish is going to be down
- 39:05Speaker 1: at Cody Chevrolet on Monday the fifteenth, and Tom's gonna
- 39:17Speaker 1: tell you a little bit about that. But yeah, he's
- 39:25Speaker 1: gonna call us here, not only with his book A
- 39:32Speaker 1: Bridge named Amos, but he's going to be signing him
- 39:40Speaker 1: and meeting with folks again Monday the fifteenth at Cody Chevrolet.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Rick Yarish, don't miss it. Go see him, say hello
- 39:51Speaker 1: to him, Thank him for his service not only to
- 39:54Speaker 1: our country but also to our communities. What he brings
- 39:58Speaker 1: to schools, what he brings through his message, his heart,
- 40:06Speaker 1: his love to again, not just schools, but businesses and
- 40:10Speaker 1: thousands of ears. Rick Cars, It's gonna be amazing Cody Chevrolet.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Tom You're going to be there.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Oh, shoot him.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I an live yeah, you're live right now.
- 40:22Speaker 3: But oh man, what an honor it is to talk
- 40:26Speaker 3: to the great j D.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, here we go.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Oh, hold on.
- 40:32Speaker 3: A second, Hold on now. You wanted me to say
- 40:34Speaker 3: something about how you give the charity and how you
- 40:39Speaker 3: rub your wife's back every night, and how.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You I told you how much? How much did you.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Want me to say? You want me to make you
- 40:47Speaker 2: look really good?
- 40:48Speaker 1: You said, oh, yeah, right, yeah, thanks Tom.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I could keep going, you know, like
- 40:52Speaker 3: the poor kid with the crutch and it's Christmas time
- 40:58Speaker 3: and you.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Know he doesn't have enough to eat. What was all
- 41:01Speaker 2: that stuff you wanted me to say? All the time?
- 41:04Speaker 3: The time you you gave up your future for the town,
- 41:09Speaker 3: and all of a sudden this guy Clearance showed up
- 41:12Speaker 3: and he made you see that all the sacrifice you
- 41:17Speaker 3: made for others.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Wait, that's a wonderful life.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Hold on, yeah, that's a whole different.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I'm kidding, No, I won't. Thanks j D for letting
- 41:27Speaker 2: me jump on here. This morning, I was on the
- 41:29Speaker 2: phone with one of our guys and we were just just.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Tearing it up about some of the work that you know,
- 41:35Speaker 3: Pat Fish is doing out there in the world today.
- 41:38Speaker 2: And he had a transition today, which is pretty rare.
- 41:42Speaker 3: People usually fight to get pat into schools, and yeah,
- 41:46Speaker 3: he had a little transition today and I covet those
- 41:49Speaker 3: because then I get a chance to, you know.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Break it down with him. And you know, we're like
- 41:53Speaker 2: a couple of.
- 41:55Speaker 3: Teenagers that haven't seen each other for a long time,
- 41:58Speaker 3: and you know, we're back and forth, like I gotta
- 42:01Speaker 3: tell you about this, I gotta tell you about that,
- 42:03Speaker 3: and you won't believe what this kid did or that
- 42:04Speaker 3: kid did. And so sorry, I really wanted to jump
- 42:08Speaker 3: on with you a few minutes earlier.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no worries. Rick has been making his
- 42:15Speaker 1: way to a couple of different Chevy dealerships, doing kind
- 42:20Speaker 1: of a meet and greet and bringing his book there
- 42:23Speaker 1: and giving his book away and in many cases reading
- 42:27Speaker 1: his book a bridge named Amos, which he did recently
- 42:31Speaker 1: right here on aired out. What a great guy man,
- 42:36Speaker 1: And and the fact that he is making one of
- 42:40Speaker 1: his stops right here to Cody's Chevrolet on Monday the fifteenth.
- 42:43Speaker 1: I think it's like three in the afternoon. I'll be there,
- 42:45Speaker 1: can't wait, man.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Yeah, let's back up for a second.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Remember when he was on your show reading that book
- 42:50Speaker 3: and he got off and.
- 42:52Speaker 2: He called me on his way out of there, and
- 42:54Speaker 2: he's like.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Can you believe JD made me turn the pages by myself?
- 42:59Speaker 2: Yeah, bastard, Hey, how come you're so fun to pick on?
- 43:03Speaker 1: Man?
- 43:03Speaker 2: I just love it. Everybody needs a j D.
- 43:06Speaker 1: In their life, listen, man, But yeah, go ahead, No.
- 43:11Speaker 3: But seriously, I'll actually I should be there as well
- 43:16Speaker 3: at the Cody Chevrolet.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Is that next Monday? Monday evening, three o'clock Monday afternoon?
- 43:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, three o'clock.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Now are you gonna Are you gonna come watch a
- 43:29Speaker 3: cup one or two of these elementary presentations next week?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Wait a second, are you officially inviting me to one?
- 43:38Speaker 2: Dude?
- 43:38Speaker 1: Don't do me sent you?
- 43:40Speaker 2: No, don't I sent you a certified letter on that.
- 43:43Speaker 1: No you did not, No, you did not I. If
- 43:47Speaker 1: it wasn't for, I think it was Pat Pat fish that. Yeah.
- 43:52Speaker 1: Let's see. Pat has invited me, Louden has invited me. Uh,
- 43:57Speaker 1: Brian has invited me. Josiah has invited me. Rick has
- 44:03Speaker 1: has invited me and said to completely bypass you. But
- 44:08Speaker 1: are you officially inviting me to come to one of
- 44:11Speaker 1: these schools?
- 44:12Speaker 2: You're breaking up on me.
- 44:13Speaker 1: What, Oh yeah, of course.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Hey listen, listen, you have a bed at my house
- 44:21Speaker 3: if you need one. So I don't have an extra bedroom,
- 44:24Speaker 3: but you have a bed at my house if you want,
- 44:26Speaker 3: which means you have to snuggle up between my wife
- 44:29Speaker 3: and myself. Well that's a little weird, but anyway, more
- 44:35Speaker 3: Town Elementary School, Wadefield Elementary School, what is it faced
- 44:42Speaker 3: in Elementary? Yeah, and Warren Elementary. So you should get there.
- 44:50Speaker 3: You're gonna see one of the greatest shows on Earth.
- 44:53Speaker 3: And let me tell you a little quick story. And
- 44:57Speaker 3: if you get a chance, flip over on another have
- 45:00Speaker 3: on your computer to Sweethearts and Heroes Facebook page.
- 45:06Speaker 2: And if anyone's listening and they can pull it up,
- 45:09Speaker 2: I want to tell you a quick little story.
- 45:11Speaker 3: So as I turned on my Facebook to watch you,
- 45:15Speaker 3: which I don't know why I would do something like that,
- 45:19Speaker 3: the first thing that comes up on my feed is
- 45:22Speaker 3: the Sweethearts and Heroes Facebook page, and there's a wonderful
- 45:27Speaker 3: picture of the great rick Yarish, who is actually in
- 45:30Speaker 3: Texas today attending a funeral of a friend that he
- 45:34Speaker 3: served with that he just lost, which is really sad,
- 45:39Speaker 3: and it was self inflicted, which is very difficult to
- 45:43Speaker 3: talk about.
- 45:46Speaker 2: But if you look at that page, you'll see a
- 45:49Speaker 2: great picture.
- 45:51Speaker 3: And I have been very fortunate in my lifetime to
- 45:54Speaker 3: witness thousands of these. And you know, when you see
- 45:59Speaker 3: Rick for the first time, especially as a kid, the
- 46:02Speaker 3: first thing you think is monster, because he's what a
- 46:05Speaker 3: monster looks like to a little kid.
- 46:08Speaker 2: He says this all the time.
- 46:10Speaker 3: If you described him to a student or a child,
- 46:14Speaker 3: no years, no nose, half a head of hair, half
- 46:17Speaker 3: a head of hair, gnarly hands, a kid would just
- 46:21Speaker 3: picture a monster and that's what they would draw. But
- 46:24Speaker 3: I've seen this damage thousands of times in the last
- 46:27Speaker 3: fifteen years. And I remember the first time JD that
- 46:32Speaker 3: someone asked us to do an elementary presentation, probably eight
- 46:38Speaker 3: years ago, nine years ago, and we had tried, and
- 46:44Speaker 3: so many schools had said, well, I think the kids
- 46:46Speaker 3: might be scared of him. So we just like a
- 46:49Speaker 3: board like, don't even try it, because we didn't want
- 46:53Speaker 3: to be responsible for trauma.
- 46:56Speaker 2: But one school was just adamant and they said, no,
- 46:59Speaker 2: you're doing little kids, so come up with a presentation.
- 47:03Speaker 3: We're like, oh, okay, so I am a huge mister,
- 47:07Speaker 3: incredible fan, and for a lot of reasons. If you
- 47:10Speaker 3: ever want to know, someday, I'll tell you got three
- 47:12Speaker 3: great reasons that mister Incredible is my guy. But so
- 47:17Speaker 3: my stick was I was gonna go out there in
- 47:20Speaker 3: front of the student body kindergarten through second grade and
- 47:24Speaker 3: we have a separate third through fifth grade presentation. But
- 47:27Speaker 3: I was gonna go out there, and I was gonna
- 47:29Speaker 3: stutter around, and I was gonna say it's nice to
- 47:32Speaker 3: be here, and turn my back and then rip my
- 47:34Speaker 3: shirt open and I would have mister Incredible, my mister
- 47:38Speaker 3: Incredible shirt on underneath my formal pink shirt that you
- 47:42Speaker 3: can see.
- 47:42Speaker 2: Rick in in that photo. I'm gonna take a quick breath. Here,
- 47:47Speaker 2: are you still with me?
- 47:47Speaker 1: JD? Yeah, yeah, I've got it, said the photo of
- 47:50Speaker 1: him bending down and looking at a little girl with
- 47:55Speaker 1: a purple shirt on.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, and she's like doing a dance move
- 47:58Speaker 2: or something.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Yes.
- 48:00Speaker 2: But so, so that was going to be my stick.
- 48:04Speaker 3: I was going to put Rick off to the side,
- 48:06Speaker 3: and I was gonna rip my shirt open and become
- 48:11Speaker 3: this goofy animated mister Incredible, and at least I would
- 48:16Speaker 3: get their attention.
- 48:18Speaker 2: Right, There's nothing like starving for the attention of a
- 48:22Speaker 2: first grader, right.
- 48:24Speaker 3: I think I still do that with my own wife,
- 48:26Speaker 3: because she says I act like a well I think
- 48:29Speaker 3: she's upgraded me to about third grade now. But anyway,
- 48:33Speaker 3: so I'm going to rip this shirt off and then
- 48:35Speaker 3: I'm going to just explode into fun and and teach
- 48:38Speaker 3: them about bullying. And I think loud and then we
- 48:41Speaker 3: won't go over this now, but I think Louden went
- 48:43Speaker 3: over with you the four things that make something bullying,
- 48:47Speaker 3: because most people confuse bullying behavior with bullying, and there's
- 48:53Speaker 3: a lot of things that could turn into bullying that
- 48:55Speaker 3: are bullying behavior.
- 48:57Speaker 2: But you have done those same things to your wife,
- 49:00Speaker 2: You've done those same things to your daughter, to your friends.
- 49:05Speaker 2: But we wouldn't call you a bully.
- 49:07Speaker 3: No, we would say JD's having a bad day and
- 49:10Speaker 3: he was mean to someone, And those are good things
- 49:13Speaker 3: to talk about with young people.
- 49:14Speaker 2: So I was going to come out, rip.
- 49:16Speaker 3: My shirt off and you know, explode into this crazy
- 49:22Speaker 3: goofy mister Incredible, and at least make it sticky for
- 49:26Speaker 3: little kids so they could go home and say, mommy.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Mister Incredible, tell us about bullying.
- 49:30Speaker 3: And these four things and we win. Now everybody in
- 49:34Speaker 3: the room is on the same page. We share a
- 49:36Speaker 3: perspective on this thing called bullying, and now maybe we
- 49:41Speaker 3: can do something about it. So that's like the beginning
- 49:44Speaker 3: of the K two presentation. And then you got to go,
- 49:49Speaker 3: you only got about thirty minutes with these kids before
- 49:51Speaker 3: you really lose their attention. And especially in today's world
- 49:55Speaker 3: where kids have nothing but fractured attention that we did
- 49:58Speaker 3: to them, we did to them and then I got
- 50:02Speaker 3: to keep their attention after fifteen minutes or so. So
- 50:07Speaker 3: I start searching around the room and I'm like, you're
- 50:10Speaker 3: not gonna believe this. But the real reason I came
- 50:12Speaker 3: here was to talk about superheroes.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Now every kid wants.
- 50:16Speaker 3: To pay attention again after this bullying thing, and you know,
- 50:21Speaker 3: you can't just have a conversation because everybody's got their
- 50:24Speaker 3: own favorite superhero and it would degenerate into a mess
- 50:29Speaker 3: if we just started talking about this superhero and that superhero.
- 50:33Speaker 3: So I turned to the kids and say, you're not
- 50:35Speaker 3: gonna believe this. I brought a real live superhero with me,
- 50:41Speaker 3: and the kids are like what and they expect, like
- 50:43Speaker 3: Spider Man to come swinging in or you know, Batman
- 50:47Speaker 3: to charging the door and I start searching around the room.
- 50:52Speaker 3: And we used to use Amos for this, and that's
- 50:55Speaker 3: why the Book of Amos is so important. Old Amos
- 50:59Speaker 3: would come wandering in the room and I would say,
- 51:02Speaker 3: that's not my superhero. And at the same time, now
- 51:06Speaker 3: Rick starts coming in behind Amos. And when we used Amos,
- 51:11Speaker 3: the place went crazy because you got a dog in school.
- 51:15Speaker 3: And this is before the real introduction of a lot
- 51:18Speaker 3: of therapy dogs and stuff like that. But then Rick
- 51:21Speaker 3: comes out and it's like crickets, like just slammed the
- 51:27Speaker 3: brakes on. But that's what happens in today's presentation. I
- 51:31Speaker 3: start searching around the room. Rick comes in and the
- 51:34Speaker 3: kids are like, what is that? And again crickets and
- 51:38Speaker 3: you'll see it if you come. And then I introduced
- 51:42Speaker 3: Rick as my superhero and that he wants to talk
- 51:46Speaker 3: to you about a couple of things.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Number one, he wants to talked about being different.
- 51:49Speaker 3: But number two, he wants to talk about what heroes
- 51:51Speaker 3: give to everyone.
- 51:54Speaker 2: And he just unfolds this beautiful little message.
- 51:57Speaker 3: And he brings Amos back into the picture that Amos
- 52:01Speaker 3: was his hero, because heroes do one thing. They help people,
- 52:05Speaker 3: especially people that other people don't take the time to help.
- 52:10Speaker 2: You know.
- 52:10Speaker 3: It's that great story of the good Samaritan, right, You've
- 52:13Speaker 3: got to help those people that are unfortunate.
- 52:15Speaker 2: So that's what you'll see, man, as you get the formal.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Invite, I'll be checking my mailbox for that. But man,
- 52:24Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, dude, and I just said this
- 52:26Speaker 1: a little while ago on the air while you were
- 52:29Speaker 1: on your call. You guys have been one of the
- 52:33Speaker 1: greatest gifts that I have received in the whole year.
- 52:38Speaker 1: And what you've brought to my programming, what you've brought
- 52:41Speaker 1: to the ears of my listeners has been so profound
- 52:48Speaker 1: and stuff that people are really sticking to. Man, It's
- 52:53Speaker 1: like it's really amazing stuff. Not only what you're doing,
- 52:57Speaker 1: but the fact that once a week you get to
- 53:00Speaker 1: bring that goodness onto my microphones is massive for me.
- 53:05Speaker 1: It's a really big deal. And I love all you
- 53:08Speaker 1: guys to pieces, every single one of you except for Leon.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Hey, j JD. Let me can I can I interrupt you?
- 53:15Speaker 3: And I know I just blabbered for I'm very self
- 53:18Speaker 3: aware of it, but I want to correct you, man,
- 53:24Speaker 3: because it is not us that gave you and your
- 53:27Speaker 3: listeners a gift.
- 53:29Speaker 2: It is you that have given us a gift.
- 53:31Speaker 3: And I don't say that to just flip the tables
- 53:34Speaker 3: or to be snarky. I say it from the bottom
- 53:37Speaker 3: of my heart, because you know, you turn the news
- 53:40Speaker 3: on Man, and you know everybody's addicted to the juicy stuff,
- 53:48Speaker 3: and somebody pants is someone or prank some and.
- 53:53Speaker 2: It gets millions of views.
- 53:55Speaker 3: We've been at the sixteen years Man, two million students,
- 54:00Speaker 3: two million, and you're like, well, you got twenty thousand followers.
- 54:04Speaker 3: You've been in front of two million students. Yeah, you
- 54:06Speaker 3: know why, men, Because it's not juicy.
- 54:11Speaker 2: It's not juicy to.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Go out there and help someone and to care for
- 54:13Speaker 3: someone and to love someone and to be there when
- 54:17Speaker 3: someone's struggling.
- 54:18Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, but let's get to the good stuff.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Let's get to the political rhetoric. Let's get to the divisiveness,
- 54:26Speaker 3: let's get to the you know, you against me and
- 54:30Speaker 3: me against you. And you know Rick said it perfectly, Man.
- 54:34Speaker 3: This year, I found myself not going down that rabbit
- 54:38Speaker 3: hole or getting stuck in that trap, but I found
- 54:41Speaker 3: myself like really trying to push this cell phoned thing
- 54:46Speaker 3: and taking it out of schools, and which I believe in.
- 54:50Speaker 3: But I wanted to have the conversation and let teachers
- 54:55Speaker 3: and gen xers know that they created this mess and
- 54:58Speaker 3: that you know, they're ripping phones out of kids hands,
- 55:01Speaker 3: but the same people that are ripping them out put
- 55:04Speaker 3: them in their hands.
- 55:05Speaker 2: And you should acknowledge that to these kids. Acknowledge it
- 55:08Speaker 2: you screwed up, because.
- 55:09Speaker 3: How's the kids supposed to know that that they at
- 55:13Speaker 3: what to do when they screw up if they've never
- 55:14Speaker 3: seen you admit it.
- 55:16Speaker 2: So and and here's what Rick said to me this year.
- 55:19Speaker 3: He said, Tom, this is why I freaking hate him
- 55:22Speaker 3: sometimes because.
- 55:23Speaker 2: He calls me out like this.
- 55:24Speaker 3: And he said, he said, Sweethearts and Heroes is not
- 55:29Speaker 3: for fifty percent of the country.
- 55:31Speaker 2: It's for one hundred percent of people.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Hope action, you know, empowering people to do good. It's
- 55:40Speaker 3: not for fifty percent, dude, It's for one hundred percent.
- 55:43Speaker 2: So stop it. And I thought I was doing good, man, I.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Got sucked into the same vortex. And anyway, man, it's
- 55:52Speaker 3: it's you that we need. And I'm going to come
- 55:55Speaker 3: right back and then I'll flip it to you. And
- 55:58Speaker 3: but it's you that we need, man, because I tell
- 56:01Speaker 3: news people all the time, you're the one that has
- 56:03Speaker 3: to get this message out. But it's not a sexy,
- 56:06Speaker 3: divisive message. It's a good message. And it's so sad
- 56:11Speaker 3: man that that's where we are in America. Is you know,
- 56:16Speaker 3: goodness just doesn't proliferate into you.
- 56:20Speaker 2: Know, into the world at the rate that it should anyway,
- 56:24Speaker 2: So one of them.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Anyways, you're man, You're the one that is making this happen.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Now. I want to hear what you have to say
- 56:30Speaker 1: about this, Okay, I I have I have felt and
- 56:37Speaker 1: I have heard from others over the last couple of
- 56:42Speaker 1: weeks that there's like, you know, and you could get spiritual,
- 56:50Speaker 1: you could talk about the planets and and all of
- 56:53Speaker 1: this stuff, but that's there's just it. Maybe it's just
- 56:58Speaker 1: stress to the holidays, but that there's a weight that
- 57:03Speaker 1: people are feeling right now that is pretty significant, and
- 57:11Speaker 1: that it's there's just a vibe and energy that honestly,
- 57:19Speaker 1: Tom is just is not great. Of course, there's plenty
- 57:25Speaker 1: of good stuff that's going on. There's a lot of
- 57:30Speaker 1: warmth and a lot of love that is happening, and
- 57:33Speaker 1: there's a lot of holiday nostalgic cheer and goodness that's happening.
- 57:42Speaker 1: We've got the horse drawn wack and rides around town.
- 57:47Speaker 1: We got the lights are up, the music is on.
- 57:52Speaker 1: We've got Christmas for kids, the big coin drop that
- 57:57Speaker 1: took place over the weekend, that is on track of
- 58:03Speaker 1: nearly nine thousand dollars raised in a matter of a
- 58:09Speaker 1: couple of hours to bring make sure that kids in
- 58:15Speaker 1: our community are getting their their wants and their needs.
- 58:20Speaker 1: There's a there's plenty of good stuff that's happening, but
- 58:24Speaker 1: there's like this this negative vibe of weight that people
- 58:30Speaker 1: are carrying around and you can't always see it until
- 58:34Speaker 1: it comes out. And maybe it's it's fueled by a
- 58:40Speaker 1: lot of the crap that's on social media. Maybe it's
- 58:45Speaker 1: fueled by a lot of these keyboard warriors that are
- 58:49Speaker 1: using their platform as it means to vent their own struggles,
- 58:57Speaker 1: their own stresses. But man, it's like not to be
- 59:00Speaker 1: negative here, Tom, But what do you have to say
- 59:02Speaker 1: about this, buddy?
- 59:03Speaker 4: I mean, well, gonna I'm gonna take you off and
- 59:06Speaker 4: I'm gonna tick off any listeners when I say this,
- 59:10Speaker 4: But I've been saying it for twenty seven years, twenty
- 59:15Speaker 4: seven and I can tell you why if you.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Want to know, twenty seven. But oh man, I'm hesitating
- 59:23Speaker 2: because I'm gonna get some hate over this.
- 59:27Speaker 3: Maybe looking out your window, maybe thinking about the coin drop.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Maybe that's the problem.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Do you know that on December the twenty sixth, those
- 59:38Speaker 3: kids that are hungry are still hungry. And on the
- 59:41Speaker 3: twenty seventh, and the twenty eighth, and the twenty ninth
- 59:44Speaker 3: and the thirtieth in January and February. I don't understand
- 59:50Speaker 3: how we can thanksgiving hits and everybody goes into this
- 59:56Speaker 3: charity Christmas mode. And are they doing it to help
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: people or they doing it out of their own guilt
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: and their own wanting to be virtuous. I don't know, man,
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: But I've been watching Christmas for twenty seven years. And
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: the reason I tell you that is I stopped celebrating
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Christmas twenty eight years ago, and I love talking about it.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I celebrated Christmas my whole life. I didn't do it
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: because I became a Jehovah's witness or something like that.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I did it because I had.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: A moment where I didn't want my children and when
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: my daughter was less than a year old.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: I just said, like, that's the problem. Man.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: We get sucked into this conformity, and it's an ancient
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: set of circuits in the human brain, the conformity biased.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: You can look it up. Solomon ash did work on this.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Seventy two percent of people just conform and we all
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: go into this hyper donation hyper world and we make
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: it look and feel like we're helping, and we are.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: And this is where people will kind of send kind
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: of hate mail to me and say, oh, well, we
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: raised this for these kids and did this for this
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: homeless group. Well, dude, what about on the twenty sixth man,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: when you pack it up and you get into.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: You know, New Year's mode and now it's time to party.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Yeah, like in the middle of January, those kids are hungry,
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: and I just come right back to this work that
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: we're doing. Hopelessness does not take a day off, and
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: neither do I and my wife will tell you, man,
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: seven days.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: A week for sixteen years.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: And I don't say that to get a pat on
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: the back to seem ultra virtuous, but.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: It just doesn't. Man.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: You know, last week on Monday, I got called I'm
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: going to leave the school unnamed, and they say, we
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: lost a senior.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: And if you line thirty.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Kids up, you wouldn't have picked that kid.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: He's a musician, he was an athlete, and he was struggling.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: And when I went to this school, JD. The first
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: kid I saw, the first kid that came down to
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: the library to talk to me, was a kid he's
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: in tenth grade.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Now. I met him two years ago. And I met
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: him in ISS and in school suspension.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: It's one of my favorite places to go because you
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: find some of the neatest kids there, young people.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: And I sat with him, and.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: That one little interaction, me fooling around with him, telling
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: some stories of how I left up in school and
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: how I got sent to ISS and I got suspended.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: It bonded us. And he was the first kid that
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: came down.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: And he used to play basketball with this young man
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: a couple of days before, and he said, man, he
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: just wasn't acting like himself. He wasn't joking around, he
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: wasn't fooling around, and he fell through the cracks man,
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: and now he's gone. And I got to sit with
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: his parents after school seven days after losing him, and
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: and it's brutal, man, And you don't ever want to
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: have to do that sit with parents after something like
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: that's happened. And and it doesn't take a day off, man.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: And so I'm gonna.
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: Get back to you know, answering your question then landed
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: here for you. But I don't know, man, maybe looking
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: out your windows the problem? How come those lights are
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: aren't up?
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: How come you know?
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: Even a good book says this, and I'm not getting theological,
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: but it says your only responsibility, man, is to take
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: care of the widows and the orphans, And what it
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: meant was the hopeless, the people that have no oubt,
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: And like, what are we doing every single day to
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: build a community, to love your neighbor the person you
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: want to strangle.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Half the time? I don't know, Man. To me, that's
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: the problem, JD.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: Is we put this this this facade on, We wear
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: this mask that everybody, Oh, I'm doing good all year,
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: every second of the day, you're doing good.
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: That's hard to.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Do, man, because you got to look at your own
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: failings and your own inadequacies, and your own challenges and
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: your own wicked, evil heart.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: You know that we all have. So I don't know.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Man, interesting, very interesting stuff that you're unpacking here, buddy,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: food for thought, stuff to uh, stuff to think about
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: for sure. Wow? Can you are you in a position
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: where you can set us up for tomorrow here in
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: the air with sweethearts and heroes?
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: Or would you rude? Can I ever? Can I ever? Oh? Man?
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Katie Rosston doctor?
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: And if you look at my how I have her
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: programmed in my phone, doctor Captain Marvel. Right that uppy
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: down because she's not here in it, Doctor Captain Marble.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: Now I used to give names to principles and superintendents
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: that just changed my world, and she's one of them.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: I got chills right now thinking about doctor Marvele. She
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: went and got her PhD. A couple of years ago
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: at Vanderbilt. I knew her when she was a teacher.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: She came to a seminar we did, and a decade
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: later she's now she was a New York State Principal
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: of the Year. But she's now a superintendent out in
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: Western New York. And I've gone through the fire with
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: doctor Marble, and that's what I.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: Call her, doctor Marvel.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you what, there's no one except
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: my wife that bus my chops, like doctor Marble. I
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: wouldn't say this on some educational platform, but I can't
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: say one word without her calling me out on the carpet.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Nice, I'm not joking, and you think I'm joking.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: Like if I like, I joke around and I have
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: too much fun and if I like, and don't get
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: me wrong, she's not This is the term from the fifties.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: She's not a square. She likes to have fun.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: But if I misstep on something I say, man, she
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: destroys me. And I can't match her with that's the problem. Yeah,
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: so she's incredible. Principal of the Year. She wrestled with
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: leaving her school at Cuba Rushford, way out in the
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: southern tier, but she got a chance to become a superintendent.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: She's absolutely brilliant. She's taught me a lot about loss.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: I don't think this is too personal, but you know, I.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Don't want to say I was.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: There for her, but she lost her mom and dad
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: over the years to illness, and you know, she's just
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: taught me a lot about losing loved ones. I don't
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: think she even realizes how much she's taught me about
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: that and the resiliency and the strength and how to
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: lean on other people.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: But most importantly, she's just taught me.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: What it means to shepherd young people the right way
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: and with accountability, with.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Structure, but also with fun and honesty.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: And you're gonna find out you're gonna get a real
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: treat tomorrow with doctor Captain Marvel.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Wow. I can't wait, man, I look, I so look
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: forward to connecting with her. Your whole team has been
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: telling me about her for a week now, like, get
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: ready for her. So it's gonna be great, man.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Don't be easier, honor though, don't be easy on her.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Listen, we're getting a comment here that Barry City Elementary
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: is school and Berrytown School needs sweethearts and heroes.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Yeah, just reach out, just go to our website, send
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: us a note.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: But the most important thing is we know this because
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: you know we're in school every day. You know, we
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: just got to get connected to an administrator there or
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: just come watch what we do. Like Monday, Tuesday will
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: be at all of those schools. I'm not so we're
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: at more Town Elementary, which means they might bust another
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: school in.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: We're at more Town yep.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: And then on Tuesday we are at Faston.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Is that what you're saying? And I think Waite River
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: is going to come join them. So there's an.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: Eight o'clock and a nine o'clock both days, K two
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: and three five. So most schools, if you call them
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: and say I love to come and watch the assembly,
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: we always ask them to allow adults and parents to
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: come because you can't fix something unless you got the
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: whole community involved.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Man, Wow, well so true. If I wear my free
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Hugs shirt, can I get in for free?
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Probably they'll have a police officer, a safety person there
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: that will put handcuffs on you if they see you
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: in a.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Free Hug shirt. I would be like creeper.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, Tom.
- 1:09:37Speaker 6: I think, Hey, anybody out there that is listening, if
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: you have not followed the aired out podcast, well there's
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: a new mechanism right here where we can delete your account.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: So if you're.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: Listening and you have not hit the follow button, you're
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: not allowed to take this content without some kind of sacrifice.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Now do you know that when you make a commitment
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: to something JD, a commitment cannot be made without a sacrifice.
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that should be tattooed on your heart.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: So even the ancients, right, you had to make a
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: sacrifice if you committed.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: So if people listen to the indelible.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: I don't even know what that word means important, What
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: does it mean?
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Permanent?
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, the permanent? You know goodness that JD brings to
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: the world. And you have not followed the aired Out podcast.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: And if you go to the aired Out podcast and
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: you go to I think those three little dots, the
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: three little dots on your Facebook page, listen up people,
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: and it says invite friends.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: On the right hand side.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: All about photos, followers, rios more all the way to write.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: It says, invite friends. You should be on the aired
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Out podcast. Invite friends and invite your whole book of people.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: I'm doing all.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Thousand of forty nine thirty nine right now. I just

- 1:11:17Speaker 3: thousand people. Don't be selfish. Invite all your friends to
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: the aired Out podcast so you can see JD. You know,
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: I don't know if people want to see you, but now,
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: but here the words of the great JD.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Thanks buddy, yep, appreciate you, love you, and I will
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: see you very soon. You and Rick on the fifteenth
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: for sure, But beyond that as well.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: Okay, buddy, thanks brother.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Thanks man, have a great rest of to day.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Hey, hey JD. Knock knock, say it?
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Who's there? And that's right there, the famous Tom Murphy
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: out right there. When he says knock knock, you say
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: who's there and then he hangs up on you.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Don't forget it's Tuesday. Five dollars Tuesdays are back at
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: the Capital Theater, skip the line, grab your tickets Fgbtheaters

- 1:14:08Speaker 3: Doesn't need to do to do batt
