After talking about the love Christians must have for one another, Paul now shifts his attention and takes it a step further. Not only should the Christian love other Christians, but the Christian is also called to love their enemies.

Love the enemy who persecutes (v14)

Living a sacrificial life to God will bring on persecution

The Christian is to respond to persecution with blessing, not curses
