[upbeat rock music] That song needs more cowbell. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
• 0:17
[laughs] Are we at the top of the hill? I mean- Is that a cowbell? Wait. I don't know. We're almost there. Oh, more of the banging on it with a stick cowbell. Oh. Hey, everybody. Welcome to Full Spectrum Cycling. Hey.
• 0:30
This is show 196. Wow. That's a lot of shows. Wow. Some people have done more. Yeah. Most people don't get this far. No. Patting ourselves on the back over here. Yeah. Good job, guys. [claps] Thanks.
• 0:47
Uh, check out what's going on in the room here. JK's back in town. Hey. Hey, everybody. Almost a song out of that, but not quite. No. [laughs] Oh, yes. You didn't run into, uh, [smacks lips]
• 1:00
Sydney while you were there, did you? No, no. We kinda crossed, crossed paths by, like, a few hours of vacations. Nice. It wasn't like, "Oh, hey. Hey, where... Oh, hey, are you there?" You know?
• 1:12
But then it would be, like, [clears throat] an hour and a half later, and then just- Yeah... check on the Face place, and all of a sudden it's like, [chuckles] "Hey, at Lafitte's." I'm like, "Uh, yeah."
• 1:20
Oh, I was just there. "Was just there." [laughs] Oh, ArBar. Just there. Uh. Yep. Uh, Tony's here too. So I found good places. I, I, I'm also here. Tony's all, oh, he's all the way over there. Yep. Hey, everybody.
• 1:31
Uh, I'm Sven, and- He's all the way over there. Yeah. Over there. Well, what's happening? It's gigantic. It's, uh- It's too big. Yeah... win- it's winter mixery out right now. It is.
• 1:43
Shouldn't be surprised by it, but I was- I-... I guess alarmed by it. I was pretty surprised when I opened the door. I'm like, "Oh, wait, it's snowing. Okay."
• 1:50
Yeah, after rain earlier in the week, I thought we were kind of done with it for a while. Well, I thought it said 20% chance, but I guess 20 [laughs] was 100% chance at 20%, so- Yep. Ta-da.
• 2:01
Well, at least it's still warm out. Yeah, right on. It was warm out on New Year's Day when we did our New Year's Day ride.
• 2:09
I don't know if that's not, I don't know if that's as warm as it's ever been when we did a New Year's Day ride, but it's up there. It's up there. It, it's easily close. Was, I would say it was 40-ish, right? Mm-hmm.
• 2:18
Give or take. Somewhere in there. Uh, w- And I don't think the lake temperature changes [laughs] like at all. No, I think the lake is probably in the mid-40s- It, yeah... somewhere. And that, that doesn't matter really
• 2:28
when you're in that zone how much. Well, I can tell you this much, folks. There was a heck of a lot of people jumping in the water down there. Yeah, there were. I mean, not only did it make...
• 2:37
Like, we had, like, 25 people on the ride this year. Thanks, Dave Zwart. Yeah.
• 2:42
'Cause Dave organized a little ride coming from Tosa direction, and met up with the boys and other peoples down at the Bradford Beach for the dipping of the dips. It was, uh,
• 2:55
it was a good, it was a good year for those Polar Bear plunges. Yeah, they got... And then the wind. I mean, it was br- it was still a little windy, but I mean, what was it, 48? I don't know.
• 3:04
It was warm, and it was- It was, yeah, toasty... warm enough. Ran into old bartender who's kinda gone off, off grid in the social everything- Yeah, I was trying to-...
• 3:13
social, so- social media and- I was trying to figure out, trying to figure out who that dude was with those fancy glasses on and stuff. Yeah, and the, what was it? The proud, the proud camouflage, uh, snowsuit.
• 3:24
[laughs] Yeah. It was, like, a pride flag camouflage pattern. I'm not even sure what that was. [laughs] It's sort of all, all pixelated looking and like- Yeah.
• 3:31
[laughs] Uh, there was also a, I, I'm gonna guess partially due to weather, but a much larger cons- contingency of trikes. Well, yeah. Recumbent trikes- Yeah... with, a lot of them with, of course, motors- Yeah. Well-...
• 3:46
which is what caught my eye immediately. Which, why wouldn't you have one on one of those things? Right. Right. 'Cause they're silly without one.
• 3:52
Well, when, when we left, and Sam and I were making our way to, to get food at, of course, The Swinging Door- Swinging Door...
• 3:58
which was interesting, um, a dude on a big, like, either 27700 or Big Wheel had one of those, like, Diamond Flower or something, the Power Flower ones, and he took off like a rocket. That was fun to watch.
• 4:17
I didn't see him roll. I just saw him kind of impinging on our normal area. Right. It, I saw that. And [laughs] And I could just... I, I was... Yes, I was judging, I guess. [laughs] I, I don't know. I, I'm like, "Ah."
• 4:28
It's not our area. Not at all. They got there first. I just... Well, that- Sorry... I'm, just the bike and, the bike itself. Like, how the hell did you get it down here? Well, they- In one piece...
• 4:39
they rode it down the- How? Without getting crushed like a grape by a smart car? [laughs] I mean, those things have the lowest profile in the damn world. They really do, and a couple of them didn't even have flags.
• 4:50
Oh, man. I guess when- Yeah... when you're in a big mob- Yeah... it does. I'd have, like, an LED, day glow LED f- you know, six foot high- Yeah... antenna. I was talking about, remember, um, Brody from Up and Under?
• 5:00
He had one, and he'd ride that from Up and Under to, I think, Shorewood, in a slightly adjusted state, but... And it was low profile. Yeah, they are. He didn't have any, like, lights or anything.
• 5:15
You know, I f- I rarely see those guys on the, like, Oak Leaf path. Nah, once in a great while. I think they, I think they try to hang with traffic. They're, they're daredevils. Well- That, that's impressive.
• 5:25
Well, yeah, that's- If you've, if you've got a motor, I think you're- The one guy had-... you're all right... double battery mounts. I mean, that was pretty cool. [laughs] I mean, that thing could probably really boogie.
• 5:32
Probably f- extra range. Which, yeah, I'm gonna guess range. Yeah, yeah. But still, I, I talked to a couple of them. They were all 52 volt or 48. I mean- Yep... Bafangs, Luna, AKA Bafang.
• 5:42
S- yeah, they were almost all mid drive, but- Yeah... up front drive on these bikes 'cause they're way out in front of you. Right. Uh. Silly. Enough on, I lo- [laughs] enough of these silly bikes. [laughs] Uh,
• 5:56
guess what showed up, uh, today in my newsfeed? Tour of America's Dairyland dates for 2023. Wow. Look at this. And you know what grinds my gears? What grinds your gears there, sir? Ain't no Brady stop this year. Oh.
• 6:10
I wonder if they, I- It got replaced with De Pere Yeah, they're trying to- De Pere, Wisconsin? Uh, De Pere, Utah. Uh, no. Yes, De Pere, Wisconsin. Ooh, oh, what? [laughs] De Pere, Utah. [laughs] What?
• 6:27
I thought it was like, might be a neighborhood in Riv- in Milwaukee I don't know about. Nope. But this is actually- No, they, they-... all the way up in De Pere?
• 6:34
They're trying to spread the swath, like, like butter stretched across too much bread. Well, then just keep going and see George in the Green Bays. Well, they travel all over Wisconsin. Yeah.
• 6:43
I'm s- I guess we could- Because it's the dairy land? All right. What's the Tour of America's- I just like the Brady one simply for proximity, selfishly. Right. Of course... you know? All right. Let's see here. And, hey.
• 6:53
Here we go. Uh. It wasn't a bad course. Da, da, da, da. First of all, it starts in June, the 15th of June, Janesville. Then East Troy, Grafton, Manitowoc, De Pere. Man-tow-oc. West Allis Cheese Wheel Classic.
• 7:09
[laughs] Uh, Bay View, Shorewood, uh, Downer Avenue, and Tosa. So mostly that, that- They're keeping the end cap, aren't they? Yeah, that final weekend is pretty, that's been pretty solid. Yeah. You know what'd be cool?
• 7:25
If they paid homage to the Riverwest 24 and they did instead of To- instead of Tosa or Stallika, they did the Riverwest 24. But it's a month early. It's okay. They just do the course.
• 7:40
Uh, yeah, it's like four times longer than they're used to. Right. I know. Yeah. Well, they gotta suck it up. Yep. Crit courses are usually about a mile. Can you imagine climbing that switchback [laughs] in a crit race?
• 7:50
I... They would have to come up Holton or something. Yeah. There's too many of them. Well, I, I think there was mention in the, uh- It's part of the fun, man... I think it was the article that you referenced.
• 7:59
Um, when, in, in Port Washington- They're professionals, man. They wouldn't do that. [laughs] Right...
• 8:03
'cause I, in Port, one of the, like, the route apparently goes up one of those fricking head walls coming off of that Main Street, which I think is called Main Street. [laughs] I don't know.
• 8:13
But you know, like, some of those are just, voop, straight the hell up. It's only a couple blocks long. Right. Or like the shit at, uh, when they did, uh, Schlitz Park. Yeah. Yeah. See? There. There.
• 8:23
We do that on the way back from, uh, down in the bowl. All the time. All the time. Down in the bowl. And then you get up there. See? Yeah, that's why you're up there.
• 8:28
Maybe those guys complained about the Humboldt Hill climb at the Great Brady Street Race last year, and that's why it's not on there. Oh, that could be. [laughs] They got a picture of it.
• 8:35
That's a short, little, punchy, little hill. That's a, that's a hill. It's just a couple blocks long. Unless you can push your bike. You do it 60 times, it's, it's punchy. Right, unless you push your bike.
• 8:45
So there you go. That's June 15th through the 25th, 2023. It's my, my guess about that. Right after that's it. Probably Tour of America's Dairyland dot cam if you wanna plan way ahead for it.
• 8:56
Probably mention it again sometime later in the year. Uh, people been dropping, but one that caught me by surprise was Ken Block passed away. Yeah. Uh, 55 years old. I just, he- Snowmobile... snowmobile accident.
• 9:13
Flipped on him? I don't, I didn't, I didn't get the whole thing about- I guess that's what they said. That's what I read... what the whole deal was. Yeah.
• 9:19
But, you know, I've been into racing for a long time, and he was one of the, like, most entertaining guys with his gymkhana stuff and making s- silly cars and doing, you know, insane stuff. Those Fords, man.
• 9:33
Yeah, he just made some really cool cars, and did a lot of good filming kind of in the early days of point of view stuff and, and GoPro things and... Wow. Yeah, too bad. I, I, I will miss his antics.
• 9:44
And, uh, he was a pro rally driver too, so. Live hard. That's your best drivers in the world right there, your rally drivers. Live hard, die young, leave a pretty corpse. [laughs] Or GG Allin, live fast, die. Mm-hmm. GG?
• 9:58
GG Allin. GG Allin. GG. Live fast, die. Live fast or die. Live fast, die. [laughs] Ugh. Yeah, all this, all this talk about hills is, like... I, I guess we got to the- Oh, God, I've been waiting. Top of the hill.
• 10:12
Waiting for you guys at the top of this hill. Ugh. Why? Are you- I, I made it first. You made it first? Because half my beer poured out when I opened it. Oh. Ah. Well, the, the pre, the pre-show beer.
• 10:22
Which was delicious. What was that? The, the Playlist Multi-Pack? Yes. It's a Playlist by Surly. And actually going off their site, it has the track listing. And if we, we didn't follow the track listing... Huh.
• 10:35
Oh, are we supposed to do it in a certain order? I don't think so, but I'm just, I'm- Surly Brewing, do you have a specific order for this? It says track listing.
• 10:40
One was Battle Vest, two Mas- Mazafyato, three Digital Wizard, which is- Oh... so we're on track three. We skipped the, the opening- This, that's why you have a manual on your turntable... overture. I just noticed it...
• 10:52
and you bring it over there. You know, I don't know. They, it was cleverly written. You're all good. But it's a mango pale ale. That was our, that was our pre-show beer- It's pretty good... through halfway show.
• 11:02
It was pretty good. Pale ale brewed. It's not as mango-y as I was a feared of before I opened it. Right. I am wondering why it was so over-carbonated, though. Yeah, it was for all of us, right? Yeah.
• 11:14
Maybe, maybe JK should do again. [laughs] Yeah, he's opening this one in the hall. Yeah, so Battle Vest is our, is our show beer this, this weekend. It's, uh- But we're afraid to open it.
• 11:22
Although it says- Tune in next week... Strata India Pale Ale. Although it says on the... Oh, no, no, no. Pretty juicy. That's, that's just the description. And battle tested. Battle tested. 6.7% ABV. I get it now.
• 11:35
Yeah, I can make Battle Vest out of the- Yeah, not this can... this can. Yeah, I can now, too. All right. All right. Just go open that in the hall and see if JK does a recon.
• 11:42
Yeah, go, go do a little, go do a little recon. Make sure that it's not... [laughs] I don't know. Sometimes they're just over- Right... carbonated, I think. Fire in the hole! [can opens] Oh, that- Nope...
• 11:53
kind of anti-climactic. Yeah. All right. Well, that's- It's just-... just, that means I can have a full beer... it's just a normal beer. It just opened like a normal beer.
• 12:01
[laughs] I don't feel afraid, like I'm gonna splash all over. Holy, holy mackerel. What's going on over there? Matt Gates's- Oh, oh, oh. Oh, no. Door's- We lost, we lost containment... we lost a door. Gates. Gates.
• 12:14
Gates. We lost containment of the door. The, uh, the heater outside there that, uh, that, well- Isn't working... our heater- Or is it working now? Well, now our heater isn't working, but the one in the hall still
• 12:28
kinda heats us up, but it's got this weird kinda harmonic balance soundy thing going on. I don't know if it's that or if it's just the bearing in the motor, but it's- Hmm...
• 12:38
it'll howl away, and I, I don't think we've heard it yet, but. All right. Did you, uh- Fire in the hole. While, while we're in the, uh, at the top of the hour- So, uh-...
• 12:45
did you guys by hand, chance to check out that video from- [laughs]... from, uh, Radavist? Uh- Is that where you saw it? I don't think- Yeah, that's where I saw it...
• 12:58
I don't think it's from Radavist, but it was, that's the site it was on. It was posted on Radavist, yeah. Right, right. Uh- 'Cause the guy was in an injury. He was in a car accident now.
• 13:05
So they're looking to raise funds for this man who may not recover his lower limb. Wowzers. Healing his lower limb, since he only has one left. You gotta watch this guy ride a bike, man. He's killer.
• 13:18
It, it wa- it came across my feed and I put it in there to watch later, so I'll have to- It is-... watch it... really... Put it in the show notes 'cause- Yeah, yeah... it's, it's impressive...
• 13:26
I'm kinda finding my- Um-... finding my way around my computer like I've never done this before. Here- Oh my God, the first thing I see is, is your neighbor Shawn's [laughs] mug on my- I'm sorry. Oh, God.
• 13:36
Oh, that's terrible. Well, here we go with the Battle Vest on the track listing. The most critical track. It lays the groundwork for what's to come and lets you know what to expect.
• 13:47
This fiercely tropical and juicy IPA rides the strata hopped to the light-wavering, horn-throwing glory. Ah. Wow. Or lighter-wavering. There we go. Light-wavering.
• 14:00
They've got some, uh, they got some writers on that stuff. Yeah. It, it's pretty well-written. I like it. [laughs] It's clever. I like clever. How's that going for you? All right, man. It's all right. Being clever?
• 14:12
Yeah, I like that. Great. Yeah, clever. Keep it up. Yeah. So- [laughs]... Tony's, Tony's, um, video is called When Leo Met Julian. And Julian's another
• 14:24
gentleman who lost a limb and rides stunt BMX, and this video is well worth watching. It will, it will l- it'll lighten your day. It'll, it'll make you appreciate that
• 14:37
there's people out there that put nothing behind them to keep moving forward. Yeah, for sure. Put everything behind them. Uh, 11 minutes long, so you'll get some, uh, you'll get some good- Mm-hmm...
• 14:45
entertainment value out of that. That's- When-... a very interesting story. I went... I just caught it when I got home from work and saw it was a Radavist email, and I'm like, "Okay, this is pretty cool."
• 14:56
And, and if you do have the means, I'm gonna throw some money at him because the poor guy might not walk again. Yeah, that's a drag when good people get hit by big vehicles. Mm-hmm. Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do.
• 15:14
So apparently, the playlist is available at all Surly markets from August to October. [laughs] So I guess that thing has been sitting on the shelf for a few. Well, that would explain the- The busyness...
• 15:26
the explosive attitude- Could, could be that, yeah... of that mango beer. Yeah. Did you get it at Otto's? Uh, Smith. Oh, okay. Well, maybe they're not as into the turning over of the beers. I don't know.
• 15:38
Yeah, well, I don't know. Maybe not so much the craft. I know they, they do a biz. Is Smith on Oakland? That one? Brady. Well, it used to be on Oakland. Oh, Brady. Man. Many years ago it was on Oakland.
• 15:52
Okay, that's where I thought. A long, long time ago. Back when I lived over in that neighborhood. With the angry, the angry little woman owner [laughs] who- God...
• 16:02
can be very nice, but she's angry to, like, most everybody. Yeah. But I try to, like, cast my charms. "Oh, how are we doing today? Da, da, da." "Oh, thank you." Well, I, I don't- Exact change is her friend, so.
• 16:16
[laughs] I, I, I don't know what they're expecting at Minooka for the, uh, there's a huge ass race coming up- Ooh... tomorrow. Moist. Yeah. Moist. Meow, meow. Yeah. Moist, moist, meow, meow. I'm wondering about that.
• 16:28
I guess I would go ahead and check the huge ass page and make sure that they're not gonna say, "By cracky, it's a little warm out here for the shenanigansies." I don't know. Can, can you run 29 or plus in huge ass?
• 16:40
I think three- I, yeah, I think it's four... or point s- 3.5 or four is the- Okay. Yeah, I think, yeah. It's gonna make a mess.
• 16:47
Um, if, if- That, that might tear up the trail too much, too I don't think they've, I don't think they've, I don't think they've ever called one.
• 16:53
Regardless- Uh, well, so they had the NICA race at, uh, Minooka, and it was rainy, and they just d- they rerouted it so it's not using the actual single track really. Okay. It's using a lot of double track and stuff.
• 17:05
And I, I don't know about huge ass, but NICA has to go back after the race and repair whatever they- Mm-hmm... they break, so, uh, yeah. Uh, yeah, so check it out. I don't know, maybe. I guess- Okay...
• 17:22
all I see on the site is that, uh, you gotta pay 40 bucks to do it if you're so inclined, so I guess I'll, I'm just gonna go ride my bike instead of paying to ride my bike. I like the idea.
• 17:34
Yeah, I was going for the- Perfect ride... I was going for the, uh, the, uh, that was one of the raffle possibility over at Gathering Place. Was huge ass? Yeah. I'm like, that's what you, you- You skipped that, right?
• 17:48
Nah, I threw, I threw one of my things in there. I mean, that's how you're gonna get me in- Yeah, true... involved. Is by making it easily accessible and- Yeah. Yeah... I don't have to pay the- No monetary value...
• 17:59
  entry fee. Well, yeah.
• 18:00
Should you, uh, be out and riding around this weekend, I just would like to remind everyone that, uh, and I'm not getting paid for this promotion, but Scardina's is open again, and, uh, their sandwiches are quite delicious, and I have now had a chance to try the chorizo, which is also- Ah...
• 18:15
every bit as good as it used to be. Right on. Ham and hard rolls on Sunday are top-notch As expected Well, it's gonna be nice out for the next couple weeks-ish Right. I know... so. Oh.
• 18:25
According to my weather bug on my phone. Oh, you know what? Dark Sky's gone. Oh, it went away? I sure, I sure did like that weather app.
• 18:32
Well, it went away for you a long time ago probably when Apple bought it, but it finally got bounced by Apple now too- Mm... in lieu of their own app. I, I really, I liked that app. Now I have to find a new weather app.
• 18:46
Hey, listeners, what's your favorite weather app? Leave, leave a note in the comments for what we should- or what I should try since those other guys don't have an IP home. IP home.
• 18:55
Well, you don't have an IP home anymore. Yes. I so love my iPhone. It's good. It makes me so happy every time I use it. I know. It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. You've had, you've had the penis implant ever.
• 19:08
[laughs] Every time it rings you just tingle. Oh, yeah. It's like a little bit of... Yeah. So I found out what's going on on Friday night. Just popped up. Tonight? Is that tonight? That's tonight.
• 19:20
Like, a little later tonight after this... Yeah. Uh, 7:00 PM at the Fart Bar, old Art Bar on Burleigh in the Riverwest. Uh, 3/4 of the band Bristlehead. Oh, okay.
• 19:35
It's Mike Frederickson and I'm not sure who the other- The other two of- Two of thir- Three- Two of four would be... the other 2/3. Followed by the Alex Wilson Blues Extravaganza. Yeah.
• 19:46
With art by Tom Wilson, Anne Powell, and Mike Frederickson. You know what I goofed up on over there? That sounds cool. They had these, uh, very small art pieces, maybe- Yeah, the tiny art store...
• 19:56
yeah, the tiny- I have seve- I have many of those...
• 19:58
I was gonna buy, like, 10 of them 'cause I have an idea for the house, and I w- was in there a couple of times and walked around and just couldn't kinda get my head around.
• 20:07
There was hundreds of them, and I was trying to come up with some sort of theme that would make me feel thrilled, and then I didn't, so I guess I have to wait for the next one.
• 20:17
Actually, when they first put it up and you couldn't buy them because they did- hadn't had the opening yet, I found several that I liked, but then apparently they were gone and they just
• 20:25
recycled the space with new stuff, so. Very nice. But I think that's gone now, at least until- Yeah, yeah, they probably just closed it up... it's sort of like a pre-Christmassy thing 'cause they make great gifts.
• 20:37
That's Art Bar on Burleigh, folks. And we're not getting paid for that. Yeah. And Tony won't go there. Nope. [laughs] But there's $5 pores of wine on Wednesdays. Oh, yeah. And they have very decent pizza. Don't care.
• 20:53
They do have good pizza. Or well, they did the last time I was there 15 years ago. And Wonder Boy. Wonder Boy the restaurant. [sings] You're getting a little Milwaukee tour today- Yeah... dear listener.
• 21:03
Oh, Marilyn, Kim's daughter, pulled a job there. [laughs] Oh, yeah. That's right. Actually, she came across my feed of friends I should add that are not friends yet, so.
• 21:13
[laughs] Yeah, I guess I could say that- No, I call that friend purgatory... 'cause I am- I got tons of people in that... friend purgatory? Yeah. What, Marilyn or Art Bar?
• 21:24
N- no, of people that add me as a friend or want me to be their friend and I just never respond. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh. I call that friend purgatory. Yeah, yeah. Are they people you don't wanna respond to?
• 21:33
Right Or you don't know? Because as soon... If I, uh, well, I'm worried that if I say no, they're gonna try to add me again, or they're gonna send me a message. I'm like, "No, screw you.
• 21:41
Now you can't respond at all" [laughs] Well, they don't know that you declined, do they? I... No, they also know that I did not accept. Ah. Like my brother. Yeah, I... Oh, well, yeah... you know, who, yeah. Yeah.
• 21:55
Retired and moved back to Wisconsin from a socialist job even though he's a Trump supporting right-wing fuck jab. [laughs] My out loud voice. Oh, no. Oh, no. Uh, I don't know.
• 22:07
I, I didn't really do a lot of planning today. What else we got here? I... Da, da, da, da, da. Yeah. I don't know. Sure. Um, so I could, we could continue the ride from, uh, New Year's Day. We had a pretty good time.
• 22:22
Where'd you guys end up? I, I think, well, we went to Swinging Door, of course, and then- Of course. Of course. Us too... uh, then after that we stopped at the Palapa, right? Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 22:31
And then you had your, uh, you had your Green Bay Packer game going, so- Yeah... we rolled through Duke's and watched a little bit of that. Uh, Packers gotta win Sunday and they actually get into the playoffs.
• 22:44
Unbelievable. Unbelievable after what a crappy season they've had. A- and then I think, uh, Brem, and that was it. I, I don't know. Oh, no, then Uptowner. Yep. Uptowner, yeah.
• 22:57
Yeah, it was a little sli- It, uh, you know, a little, a little- It was a little slippery at the end of the night there... yes, yes, the wheels were starting to wiggle, wobble. It got weird, yep.
• 23:05
I was home, I was home early-ish, so I felt good about that. I got a nap in. Nine years... Did you? Nice. Went to Black Husky, hung out there. Actually- Oh, that would explain the nap... so, uh, Ronald, yeah, right.
• 23:18
Ronald showed up and Ronald barely had slept. He looked rough, so I had to buy him a couple of beers to get him through the next day. To even, even him out a little bit. Yeah.
• 23:28
So it was- So I did, am, am doing my, my one resolution. Well, it's a resolution kinda dovetailing into a dry January. Semi-dry January. Kinda like a- Dry, dry red wine January?... dry, dry Leahy, dry little liquor.
• 23:45
[laughs] Oh, no liquor, just beer. Yeah, yeah. Oh, okay. And maybe some wine. I think that's a good plan. Yeah. Yeah. 'Cause when the liquor does the talking- It's bad...
• 23:54
I, that's what, yeah, that's what- Yeah, I agree 100%... like New Year's days, they can be entertaining, you know.
• 24:00
To, to those- Much like, much like the Jim Leahy where, you know, it is entertaining to watch the person going, "I'm owing the air, Ran. I'm owing the air" [laughs]
• 24:08
Well, you- But when you're the person doing it and then you wake up the next day- Yeah... no... I remember that you had- [laughs]...
• 24:14
you had put your bike on top of the fence at Towner, and I think what was kind of a saving grace was you weren't getting it off the fence all that easily. [laughs] Right. Right. It was, I don't know, what is that?
• 24:26
S- six or s- six or so feet high and just kinda- Put it up there and hung it from the fence and- That's awesome. It was like- You didn't get a picture of that? No, you can... Well- It was w- it was- To be fair, huh?
• 24:37
To be fair. Uh, I was talking to somebody, I don't remember even who, and that was sort of on the periphery and it was... I was already tired. I'm like, "I gotta go." So. Legit. Yeah. Legit. So I'm not sure.
• 24:52
I think I left there and the bike was still hanging on the fence. [laughs] Ah, well that's New- It made it home. That's New- Yeah. [laughs] Well, actually I was there. And- It made it home. I did...
• 25:03
the drunk evil robot usually does get home at some point. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So, uh, we didn't...
• 25:09
You had mentioned when we were doing the ride on Sunday that, uh, you would have a har- This is JK we're talking to now, s- dear listener. That you'd have a hard time riding a bike down in New Orleans. What, uh,
• 25:21
what do you think is it? I, I haven't, I- Traffic? I've never been down there. Humans? More humans. Yeah. More on the human side. There, there's a lot of humans- More on the human side...
• 25:30
walking around aimlessly there, for sure. I mean, it- You've never been to New Orleans? It would be- That's not a recollection... Man, there was a shitload of wheelie kids. Wheelie gangs.
• 25:43
And I guess they're like gang gangs. [laughs] Like, "Don't fuck with those gangs." [laughs] Wow. But they, yeah, there was one- Stick this wheelie up your butt. Man, I was just...
• 25:52
I looked over and all of a sudden I'm like, ree, "Oh hey, wheelie kids." And then it just kept going, and going, and going, and going. It was like a good 50 fucking critical mass pack. [sighs] I, I don't know.
• 26:04
BMX'ers or what were they on? Yep. BMX. Everything. Yep. Okay. Okay. Yeah. A lot of rivers and shit like that. Yeah. But [laughs] no, I mean, just a lot of the people, you know, just navigating to...
• 26:17
I guess if I lived down there and I wanted to hit different areas more effectively- Right... but as a tourist, I didn't see a real reason- You mo- Did you mostly hang in the- I'm like-... the French Quarter? Yes.
• 26:28
Pretty much. And then kinda the bare periphery- Do you-... of it. Yeah. You do any of the like cemetery tours or anything? 25 fucking bucks, no. Yeah. And rice? You know how much it costs to go through- And rice? No.
• 26:40
Just did this. "Wee." Put my arms up and go click, click, click. You know how much it costs to do Forest Home Cemetery? Zero. Zero. Yeah. Yeah. You can see all the Beer Baron's paps- Yeah... the Schlitz's.
• 26:49
You can get the best in there. You can get, you can get- The one thing-... get your Frost L's and your- What I wanted to see- Oh... was in, uh, Cemetery One, it was like, uh, the Nicolas Cage,
• 26:59
he's got his mausoleum all set up, pyramid and whatever. So that's where he's going? Yeah. Is it a pyramid? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Does, does he go in the middle of it? I have- Probably. You know, like standing up.
• 27:12
Uh, who the fuck knows? [laughs] Uh. [laughs] Here comes the spaceship to take away the- So that was, that was like the one thing that- Right. That's right... That's the one thing I was like, "Oh, that would be cool."
• 27:20
But then I went to the gift shop and then they had like a little section of like pictures of like- Like a butt... the thing. I'm like, click. [laughs] Hey, perfect. That's all I wanted. That's all I wanted.
• 27:31
And then just walked around the periphery of the, of that one. Got the, got the mojo of all that. It's a cool fucking town. I mean- I haven't been there in 17 years, so. I mean, look, what was it Decatur Street?
• 27:44
Was just like a, an elevated like mixture of Brady Street and Riverwest. Yeah. Like, like if, yeah, if you kinda took like Brady Street and Center Street and kinda merged them together.
• 27:57
So it was just like- Did you, uh- [laughs] I mean, just like navigating like drag queens and like, you know, crust punks and- Right... you know. [laughs] It was like, "Yay, whoop." Did you Airbnb or did you ho-
• 28:07
ho- It, well, it was a B- I think it was a Airbnb. I think it was. I mean, got it through Booking.com or something like that. Gotcha. Yeah. So it, it felt like a Airbnb. Nicolas Cage is a year younger than I am. Ha.
• 28:21
[laughs] He's been married five times. Guess how many times I've been married? Once. One time. And he- [laughs] Hey, Nick, he's doing it right. Or not. [laughs] And he named his kid Kal-El.
• 28:37
I've been married, I've been married one time, but it's longer than your time. It's not longer than my time. You've been going out longer, but I don't think you've been married longer. Uh, what year? 1998.
• 28:48
Oh, yeah, you are, by four years. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And that was the thing I- But you've been going out longer- Yeah... 'cause we only been, we were only going out a couple years. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, "Oh, yeah."
• 28:56
31 years. "That's my hunter. I gotta marry her." I did not have to marry mine, but I needed health insurance. [laughs] God love you, Molly. You know I love you even if we weren't married.
• 29:07
Matter of fact, I probably love you more. And what I did, and what I did done, speaking of which, down in New Orleans- What did you done did? Oh... I done did pop the question to my lady. What? Yeah. Yeah. What?
• 29:20
She, she done said yes. What? I was like, he's say- he was telling people. He, and I said, "Well, what did she say?" He's like, "You're the first person that asks what she said." [laughs] Yeah, no shit.
• 29:28
[laughs] I was like- You were saying this on New Year's Day and I didn't hear this? Sure. What? Yeah. What? Occasional Mike. Am I coming to the wedding? See- Are you getting, are you getting married in New Orleans?
• 29:39
I don't know yet. Oh. That's- It's, it's one thing in the, uh- Make it a destination... It's down the road. Yeah. Yeah. You, you crossed one hurdle. You have- Right... you don't have to cross the other one right away.
• 29:49
Exactly. Next week. Yeah, this weekend. No. [laughs] No. That, that was the one question I came up with- After a playoff game. Come on. You can't do it no better.
• 29:56
Well, my mo- [laughs] my mom fucking replying going like, "Oh my God, did you guys get married down there?" [laughs] I'm like, "Right on, Mom.
• 30:05
All right, so I guess the blessing is, the blessing is- Well, we went to New Orleans. [laughs] We went from New Orleans to Las Vegas and took care of it there. So yeah. All right. So- Congratulations...
• 30:14
at least that's on the radar so I don't have to like jump through- Yeah... that hoop with my mother. [laughs] Yeah. [laughs] Right on. So I have to just be like, "Hey, I'm out there." All right.
• 30:23
Well- On that note- Congratulations... holy shit... congratulations JK on that note. We're gonna- Well. Figured close- We're, we're gonna go plan-... close it out with a pl- We're gonna go plan the wedding.
