- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are last break of the
- 0:02Speaker 1: day on this Tuesday. It's been a fun day. Thank
- 0:06Speaker 1: you guys for listening. As always, we appreciate you. Steve,
- 0:10Speaker 1: if you want to take us down, you know my
- 0:12Speaker 1: close remarks. It is kind of what Junior and I
- 0:15Speaker 1: had talked about in the opening. Junior's question to me was,
- 0:21Speaker 1: unc how do you measure success? And I thought that
- 0:25Speaker 1: was a great question because what a lot of people
- 0:27Speaker 1: do is they make the mistake of measuring their success
- 0:31Speaker 1: up against others. There's a saying that says comparison is
- 0:36Speaker 1: the greatest thief of joy. If you want to feel badly,
- 0:41Speaker 1: just start comparing yourself. It's somebody somewhere always doing better
- 0:47Speaker 1: than you, or appearing to do better than you, or
- 0:53Speaker 1: claiming to do better than you, are fronting to be
- 0:59Speaker 1: doing better than you. You don't really know what's going
- 1:04Speaker 1: on in people's lives because they don't let you see
- 1:06Speaker 1: behind the curtain. They got an Instagram account where they
- 1:09Speaker 1: post the absolute best polls and they absolute best outfit,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and you sitting up here on every time I see them,
- 1:18Speaker 1: they this and theate that that's the part they want
- 1:21Speaker 1: you to see. Stop comparing yourself to other people. Comparison
- 1:25Speaker 1: is the greatest thief of joy. If you want to
- 1:28Speaker 1: truly measure your success, I'll tell you something else. Don't
- 1:34Speaker 1: look at your success and base it on how close
- 1:38Speaker 1: you are to your goals. Don't use that as a
- 1:41Speaker 1: measure of success. Don't use as a measure of success
- 1:46Speaker 1: to look at all you've accomplished in hopes of accomplishing more.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Here's the way to really measure your success. Take a
- 1:57Speaker 1: look at where you are right now and compare it
- 2:01Speaker 1: to where you came from. There's your measurement for success.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And if that don't brighten up your day and make
- 2:09Speaker 1: you feel better, something's wrong. Because as far away as
- 2:14Speaker 1: you may be from your goal and your aspiration and
- 2:17Speaker 1: your desired or mount or achievement, as far away as
- 2:22Speaker 1: you are, have you ever really thought about how far
- 2:26Speaker 1: you've come? Have you ever sat down and just said, man,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I remember when I remember when I was complaining the
- 2:35Speaker 1: other day and I had to remind myself of a
- 2:39Speaker 1: quote because I was just I was just swamp. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: was just I just felt the weight of the world.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I was just felt like, man, it was really getting
- 2:53Speaker 1: to be a lot, and for a brief moment, I
- 2:56Speaker 1: registered a complaint, and then I remember the quote that
- 2:59Speaker 1: I've said at a hundred times. You can't complain about
- 3:04Speaker 1: what all is on your plate when your whole gold
- 3:08Speaker 1: was to eat. Remember that, Steve, Remember man, when you
- 3:13Speaker 1: just wanted to be able to pull your chair to
- 3:15Speaker 1: the table with everybody else and just get down, just
- 3:19Speaker 1: be able to feast. Well, now you at the table.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You've earned your seat at the table. And now you're
- 3:25Speaker 1: looking at all this on your complaint on your table,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and you complaining. Now, man, you can't complain about what
- 3:32Speaker 1: all is on your plate when your whole gold was
- 3:35Speaker 1: to eat. You just wanted to eat. Now you have
- 3:37Speaker 1: an abundance to eat. Now you complaining? Man, Stop Stop,
- 3:42Speaker 1: Remember where you row, where you from. See you know
- 3:46Speaker 1: what really keeps me grounded. I constantly remind myself that
- 3:49Speaker 1: I was homeless. I constantly remind myself that I wasn't
- 3:53Speaker 1: the one getting picked. I remind myself of all the
- 3:57Speaker 1: people who wrote me off. I remind myself of flunking
- 4:01Speaker 1: out of college. I remind myself of the lady telling
- 4:04Speaker 1: me you'll never amount to anything. I remind myself and
- 4:09Speaker 1: not to be hateful to them, but to remember how
- 4:13Speaker 1: far I've come from. That's what it is for I've
- 4:17Speaker 1: learned so many valuable lessons in life, and the best
- 4:20Speaker 1: one I learned recently. Here's the best thing I learned recently.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I don't walk away to teach nobody a lesson. I
- 4:30Speaker 1: walk away because I done learned mine. See that's a
- 4:34Speaker 1: whole nother world. I'm walking away because I done learn
- 4:39Speaker 1: my lesson. Man, I'm not I would rather adjust my
- 4:43Speaker 1: life to live without you than to adjust the boundaries
- 4:48Speaker 1: that you have set for me. That I confine in
- 4:51Speaker 1: those boundaries of disrespect you have for me, man, miss
- 4:55Speaker 1: me with all that I'm not fitting them, shrink myself
- 4:58Speaker 1: down no more for nobody to fit in your he
- 5:02Speaker 1: okay category or he a nice guy? Yo. Man, Hey, look,
- 5:10Speaker 1: I'm I'm a good person. But because you're a good person,
- 5:14Speaker 1: don't mean you have to be a nice guy all
- 5:17Speaker 1: the time. That don't make no sense because people gonna
- 5:20Speaker 1: take advantage of that. Just be a good person. But
- 5:23Speaker 1: being a good person don't mean you have to be
- 5:25Speaker 1: a nice guy. Nice guys comply with everything everybody want.
- 5:28Speaker 1: That ain't how you live your life. You gotta tell
- 5:31Speaker 1: people no, you gotta protect your peace. You gotta get
- 5:35Speaker 1: yourself in a place and realize, hey man, I'm peaceful
- 5:37Speaker 1: over here. You're not coming here interrupting my peace. I
- 5:41Speaker 1: got a text from a guy the other day, a
- 5:43Speaker 1: text asked me for fifty thousand dollars in a text,
- 5:49Speaker 1: just a text and just say, hey man, I'm in
- 5:53Speaker 1: a tight the other day. I'll tell you another one.
- 5:56Speaker 1: This is not bragging. A guy who we had pitched
- 6:00Speaker 1: this concept too, and for him to join in for
- 6:05Speaker 1: this concept we had created, it was a lot of
- 6:09Speaker 1: money to get in. We go to dinner. He's smoking
- 6:12Speaker 1: a cigar. He blows cigar, smoking my face and say,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Steve Harvey, I know all you want is my money.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And I'm looking at him, I'm like, hold on, bro,
- 6:22Speaker 1: we put a business proposition in for you. You're not
- 6:24Speaker 1: handing this money to me. He's gonna blow some cigars
- 6:27Speaker 1: smoking my face and then come talking about I know
- 6:29Speaker 1: all you want is my money. You must think I'm crazy,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you must think I'm a new kind of stupid man. Please, hey, y'all,
