Latest / Lisa & Russell / Lisa & Russell - Wheelie Bins That Can Be Seen From Space
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Lisa, I'd have to ask the question. How many bins
- 0:03Speaker 1: do you need at your home? How many have you got?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Not this many. I've got two. You've got two? I
- 0:09Speaker 2: don't have the green one.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I have three.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I've just got the red lid.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And the yellow one. Okay, I've got the red, green
- 0:18Speaker 1: and yellow.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Where have you really been is the question being posed
- 0:22Speaker 2: in Mount Lawley. There is a bizarre mystery. And a
- 0:25Speaker 2: collection of bins seen from space, which is a bit dramatic.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I mean, it's Google Earth.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You have to zoom in quite a few times.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It's not like the International Space Station can see this
- 0:36Speaker 2: collection out the window. Oh, geez, what's that? No, Google
- 0:41Speaker 2: Earth is pretty good at zoning in. But a bizarre
- 0:44Speaker 2: mystery has gripped Mount Lawley. Residents have been reporting their
- 0:48Speaker 2: wheelie bins have gone missing.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We found them.
- 0:50Speaker 2: And now they've been found. An enormous collection. Well, we're assuming,
- 0:54Speaker 2: I guess. We are assuming. Allegedly. These are the missing bins.
- 0:59Speaker 1: We may have found them, allegedly.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I don't want to cast any aspersions on. But an
- 1:05Speaker 2: enormous collection of rubbish bins, so big it can be
- 1:07Speaker 2: seen from space on Google Earth, has emerged at one
- 1:10Speaker 2: local property on William Street.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:12Speaker 2: And locals have taken to social media to report their
- 1:15Speaker 2: bins missing. And now the extraordinary photographs emerging of what
- 1:18Speaker 2: appears to be a sea of green and yellow and
- 1:21Speaker 2: red crammed into the backyard of a Williams Street property.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Just as well they've got a quarter acre block there
- 1:26Speaker 1: because you'd need one to fit all those bins in.
- 1:30Speaker 2: According to an anonymous Facebook post, it is a huge property.
- 1:33Speaker 2: One resident claimed a woman had been spotted entering a
- 1:36Speaker 2: property and attempting to take a wheelie bin back. The
- 1:39Speaker 2: resident said they confronted the woman and asked her to
- 1:41Speaker 2: leave because the incident was frightening their young children. It
- 1:44Speaker 2: all sounds very strange.
- 1:51Speaker 1: What are they being used for?
- 1:54Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I hope they're not
- 2:00Speaker 2: all full of rubbish.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Are they being emptied?
- 2:02Speaker 2: And it's a big verge that they've got to go
- 2:04Speaker 2: out on.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I was just going to say, because the truck's going
- 2:07Speaker 1: to be there for a while loading all those in.
- 2:09Speaker 2: But I hope there's not rubbish in all those bins
- 2:10Speaker 2: because that's gross.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Well, the yellow bins should be okay as long as
- 2:13Speaker 1: they rinse their recyclables. But it's bizarre, isn't it?
- 2:19Speaker 2: I still wouldn't want bins full of rubbish next door
- 2:22Speaker 2: to me. No. Some people do some weird things with
- 2:24Speaker 2: their houses. Remember the woman on the corner of Cedric
- 2:26Speaker 2: Street whose house was covered in bin chickens? Oh, yes.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Because she used to feed them. I don't think she's
- 2:34Speaker 2: there anymore.
- 2:35Speaker 1: No.
- 2:35Speaker 2: And then there was something in the news this week,
- 2:37Speaker 2: just this week, about something overrun with cats. Now, I'm
- 2:40Speaker 2: a cat lady from way back, but I wouldn't allow
- 2:42Speaker 2: that to happen. Well, not that many. Not that many,
- 2:44Speaker 2: and I wouldn't allow that to happen where it's, you know.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Something else that's striking from this photo taken from space.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, on Google Earth.
- 2:52Speaker 1: So, zoom in on the bins. There's all the bins
- 2:54Speaker 1: in there, but just another tip I'd say. Might want
- 2:57Speaker 1: to get a roof painter in too. That roof looks
- 3:01Speaker 1: like it needs a bit of work.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway. Anywho.
- 3:05Speaker 1: There are missing bins and there are a lot of bins.
- 3:08Speaker 2: At this stage, no connection between the collection and the
- 3:12Speaker 2: alleged thefts. It's a bit sus. But there's no connection
- 3:15Speaker 2: that's been established.
- 3:16Speaker 1: No.
- 3:16Speaker 2: But residents who believe their bins have been stolen are
- 3:20Speaker 2: encouraged to report the matter to the City of Vincent.
- 3:23Speaker 2: And to WA Police. Oh, yeah, they're going to do something. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 2: like they're going to be onto that. Well. Oh, we'll
- 3:28Speaker 2: be right round.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Well, it doesn't hurt to just come along and peek
- 3:31Speaker 1: over the fence and ask a couple of questions.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah, no, but I don't think the police are going to.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Have you tried to report a theft to the police?
- 3:38Speaker 1: No, thankfully not recently, no.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think they have, probably don't have
- 3:42Speaker 2: the time. This is why we have the City of Vincent.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I think this is one for the Rangers.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 3:46Speaker 1: One for the Rangers. Anyway, we've found a lot of bins.
- 3:49Speaker 1: We know where they are.
