- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to A Meeting of the Minds, crafted from decades
- 0:05Speaker 1: of talk show experience. An extension of the magic they've
- 0:08Speaker 1: created together on radio in the phenomenon called M & M.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Hot topics in the news and wisdom from life. It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: Mark Davis and Mike Gallagher. This is M & M Extra.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And we welcome you, everybody, on this Tuesday, the sixth
- 0:24Speaker 2: day of October 2026. Just one more day after today
- 0:29Speaker 2: of looking at my mug. And then you get both mugs.
- 0:33Speaker 2: The M-Mug, M-E-M-Mug. Mark Davis, Mike Gallagher. I'm the Mark
- 0:37Speaker 2: Davis part of that. Happy morning host here at 660 AM.
- 0:39Speaker 2: The answer, Dallas Fort Worth. Mike has his national empire
- 0:44Speaker 2: on the Salem Radio Network and Salem News Channel. And
- 0:47Speaker 2: he is flitting about the country. I don't know if
- 0:50Speaker 2: Mike has mentioned... Where he is, he'll either tell us
- 0:53Speaker 2: when he comes back on Thursday. If he has let on,
- 0:56Speaker 2: then I may riff on that a little bit on
- 0:59Speaker 2: tomorrow's solo episode of the broadcast. And every episode of
- 1:03Speaker 2: Eminem Extra, whether I'm here, Mike's here, we're both here,
- 1:06Speaker 2: is made possible in part by our friends at Preborn.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You can stand for life today by joining us and
- 1:13Speaker 2: providing ultrasounds. For girls and women, free ultrasounds so that
- 1:17Speaker 2: they look at those and go, wow, I'm going to
- 1:19Speaker 2: choose life. You will double the likelihood she chooses life
- 1:24Speaker 2: by going to 833-850-BABY, 833-850-BABY, or going to preborn.com slash mmextra.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So thanks a lot. More on those good people a
- 1:34Speaker 2: little later on. So anytime we start this enterprise, whether
- 1:38Speaker 2: Mike's here, I'm here, we're both here, part of it
- 1:42Speaker 2: is an extension of of our radio shows, you might
- 1:45Speaker 2: have noticed a lot of times we'll ask each other,
- 1:48Speaker 2: so what do you do? Well, I don't know what
- 1:50Speaker 2: you do. And we talk about what we both did
- 1:52Speaker 2: and just what our talk shows yielded on that given morning.
- 1:57Speaker 2: And I've got a little bit of that today. In fact,
- 1:59Speaker 2: in a couple of minutes, we're going to talk about
- 2:01Speaker 2: clergy and politics, talk about pastors and how political they
- 2:05Speaker 2: should get or not, because I had Dr. Robert Jeffress
- 2:09Speaker 2: on this morning, his brand new book, Divine invasions. There
- 2:13Speaker 2: you go. From Dr. Robert Jeffress at First Baptist in Dallas.
- 2:17Speaker 2: And we talked a little bit about the Venn diagram
- 2:19Speaker 2: between being a clergyman and weighing in on politics and
- 2:23Speaker 2: stuff like that. So that was a portion of today's
- 2:25Speaker 2: show that I'll carry into the podcast realm. But the
- 2:29Speaker 2: first thing I'm going to try to do today, and
- 2:32Speaker 2: the key word is try. I have not, I don't
- 2:36Speaker 2: know if I've talked about this on the radio at all.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I don't think so. Part of it is because it's
- 2:43Speaker 2: just so sensitive and touchy and it's hard to know
- 2:47Speaker 2: exactly how to feel. And it's kind of complicated. And
- 2:51Speaker 2: if I started to do it, it probably deserves its
- 2:53Speaker 2: own hour. So, of course, I'm going to do it
- 2:55Speaker 2: here in about four or five minutes. But people have
- 2:58Speaker 2: been asking me about it. So I figure I'll go
- 2:59Speaker 2: ahead and riff about it for a little bit. And
- 3:02Speaker 2: that is, of course, the Cornell rape case. Or is it?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Or is it a rape case? The events were in
- 3:12Speaker 2: October of 2024 at Cornell's Chi Phi Fraternity House. Don't
- 3:20Speaker 2: get me started on Greek life. It's great. Your kids
- 3:23Speaker 2: are in it. They're having a great time, I'm sure.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I never got it. I was at the University of
- 3:28Speaker 2: Maryland in the late 70s. I somehow found a way
- 3:30Speaker 2: to find parties and relationships and girls without having my
- 3:34Speaker 2: buns duct-taped together and stuck in a trunk after drinking
- 3:38Speaker 2: a bottle of gin. I somehow managed to have life
- 3:41Speaker 2: without hazing. But hey, that's just me. At this particular
- 3:45Speaker 2: frat party, this woman, who now goes by Jane Doe,
- 3:50Speaker 2: and seven fraternity members had relations. She later sued them,
- 3:56Speaker 2: the fraternity, the university, and others. She alleges she was
- 3:59Speaker 2: plied with alcohol and ketamine until incapacitated and then sexually
- 4:04Speaker 2: assaulted over several hours. No one has been criminally charged.
- 4:07Speaker 2: The local D.A.? initially declined prosecution after the 2026 lawsuit
- 4:12Speaker 2: and reporting. Governor Hochul appointed Attorney General Letitia James, well,
- 4:16Speaker 2: she'll get to the bottom of it, as special prosecutor.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Cornell's Title IX process produced mixed findings and sanctions. The
- 4:23Speaker 2: public record does not settle whether it was rape, consensual,
- 4:27Speaker 2: or something in between. So about three weeks after this
- 4:31Speaker 2: night in 2024, This woman gives Cornell police a lengthy
- 4:36Speaker 2: interview and signed a shorter statement. The DA, a guy
- 4:39Speaker 2: named Matthew Van Houten, his reputation's not doing well. He
- 4:43Speaker 2: reviewed that signed statement and said, doesn't look like a
- 4:45Speaker 2: crime under New York law. According to his public summary,
- 4:49Speaker 2: she had been drinking, went to the house, agreed to
- 4:51Speaker 2: a threesome with a man she was attracted to, and
- 4:54Speaker 2: they called in some other dude, hence the threesome, citing
- 4:57Speaker 2: attraction and drunken curiousness. That's always good. She was pretty
- 5:04Speaker 2: okay with it at an intoxication level she put at
- 5:07Speaker 2: 5 or 6 out of 10. They're snorting some special K.
- 5:11Speaker 2: She said she had not used it before. She later said, sure,
- 5:14Speaker 2: when asked if they could do drugs off her body.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So instantly we got questions about this woman, and that's
- 5:19Speaker 2: where it gets enormously uncomfortable.
- 5:21Speaker 1: What?
- 5:22Speaker 2: You can't blame the accuser? Do you believe all women?
- 5:25Speaker 2: Do you hear all women? And we're just headed into treacherous,
- 5:29Speaker 2: treacherous territory. But here's how I'm going to do it
- 5:31Speaker 2: and sleep at night. I don't know. I have no
- 5:34Speaker 2: idea what happened here. There's a lady named Heather McDonald.
- 5:40Speaker 2: She's an author, writes on a lot of women. She's
- 5:43Speaker 2: kind of not an anti-feminist, but she has said that everybody,
- 5:49Speaker 2: have you seen AOC riffing on this? These evil men
- 5:51Speaker 2: did this terrible thing to this defenseless woman. Okay, maybe.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I don't know. As I said, I wasn't there. But
- 6:02Speaker 2: Heather McDonald's point is that what women are sometimes doing
- 6:05Speaker 2: is getting ripped out of their minds, having all kinds
- 6:08Speaker 2: of sex that they later regret. They wake up and
- 6:11Speaker 2: regret it and go, wait a minute, ding, ding, ding.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'm going to say it was rape, even if it
- 6:16Speaker 2: was not. Therein lies the problem. And the stories have
- 6:23Speaker 2: changed and they have flipped. And these guys are saying,
- 6:27Speaker 2: we didn't do anything wrong. Well, maybe that's Maybe they
- 6:31Speaker 2: should be saying we didn't commit a crime because everybody
- 6:35Speaker 2: was doing things that are, are incredibly wrong. Let's have
- 6:38Speaker 2: our young ladies not act like whores, not saying she did,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but plenty do. And let's have our sons not engage
- 6:47Speaker 2: in this kind of activity. Even in the drunken haze
- 6:51Speaker 2: of a frat party. Am I asking too much? I
- 6:54Speaker 2: probably am, but that's, that's the Cornell rape case in a,
- 6:58Speaker 2: in a nutshell. And, uh, I have no, I would
- 7:02Speaker 2: draw no conclusion about anybody. I have no idea whom
- 7:05Speaker 2: to believe. It's all, you know, it's a couple of
- 7:08Speaker 2: years ago. Everybody's ripped out of their minds. So what
- 7:11Speaker 2: are you going to do? But that's where it stands
- 7:14Speaker 2: and why it is so vexing for so many. Here's
- 7:18Speaker 2: something that's a lot easier to figure out. How to
- 7:20Speaker 2: lose weight. Mike's figured it out. Have you seen him? Well,
- 7:23Speaker 2: that's PhD Weight Loss at work. It's PhD Weight Loss. PhDweightloss.com.
- 7:29Speaker 2: They're incredible. Got a phone number to give you here
- 7:31Speaker 2: in just a little bit because what they have is
- 7:33Speaker 2: this magnificent program for people who are ready to lose
- 7:36Speaker 2: the weight and keep it off. You can lose weight.
- 7:38Speaker 2: You can lose 5 or 10 or 15. You ever
- 7:41Speaker 2: been on the yo-yo thing? Hey, I lost 15 pounds.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Then 12 of it came back. And then I lost
- 7:45Speaker 2: 10 more. And then 13 more came back. It's because
- 7:49Speaker 2: it's a program you can't stay on because it frequently
- 7:51Speaker 2: involves starvation or deprivation or just other unpleasant things. That
- 7:56Speaker 2: is not the PhD weight loss way of doing it.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Go to 864-644-1900, 864-644-1900 or myphdweightloss.com, excuse me, myphdweightloss.com because
- 8:11Speaker 2: it will truly be your own. And what you'll find
- 8:15Speaker 2: is success like my cat and like a whole bunch
- 8:17Speaker 2: of other people have had, Dr. Ashley Lucas's plan that
- 8:20Speaker 2: people can actually stay on and succeed. And mention Mike
- 8:24Speaker 2: G or Mike and Mark or M & M Extra,
- 8:26Speaker 2: they'll recognize all of it. And you get two free
- 8:28Speaker 2: weeks in the program. They'll cover the cost of your food.
- 8:31Speaker 2: That's like $ 1, 500 of value. So let's go. 864-644-1900 or myphdweightloss.com.
- 8:41Speaker 2: The folks at, speaking of food, let's talk about people
- 8:45Speaker 2: who don't have any literally don't have any. I asked
- 8:52Speaker 2: you yesterday, what have you been doing today? Did you
- 8:53Speaker 2: wake up? Did you have breakfast? Are you having lunch
- 8:55Speaker 2: right now? Yeah, good for you, because you can do that.
- 9:00Speaker 2: When I leave here, I believe I'll be grabbing a bite,
- 9:03Speaker 2: because I can, because, oh, I don't know, I have
- 9:05Speaker 2: food in my life. You know what a blessing that is?
- 9:08Speaker 2: You ever think about people who don't? We think about
- 9:11Speaker 2: them all the time around here, and the folks at
- 9:13Speaker 2: Food for the Poor think about them and work on
- 9:15Speaker 2: their behalf every day. It's about food. It's about water.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It's about bringing these life-giving things to these communities in
- 9:22Speaker 2: our hemisphere, mostly Latin America, the Caribbean. I've been with
- 9:25Speaker 2: Food for the Poor to Guatemala. I've been with them
- 9:28Speaker 2: to Haiti. And boy, I got to tell you, Haiti
- 9:32Speaker 2: makes Guatemala look like Rodeo Drive. I mean, I know
- 9:34Speaker 2: there are degrees of everything. I mean, there's poverty and
- 9:36Speaker 2: there's poverty. And oh, my heavens. But in both of
- 9:40Speaker 2: these locales, Food for the Poor was bringing food, bringing water,
- 9:44Speaker 2: bringing help. bringing the gift of life, bringing the gospel
- 9:48Speaker 2: to all of these people. And the smiles and the
- 9:51Speaker 2: children I had a chance to hold and the food centers,
- 9:54Speaker 2: the feeding centers, I had the chance. I tell you what,
- 9:56Speaker 2: you never, never know what it's like. My wife and
- 9:58Speaker 2: my son were with us in Guatemala. and he was
- 10:01Speaker 2: like 13 at the time. You need to take a
- 10:04Speaker 2: 13-year-old boy to Guatemala and have them serve food to
- 10:08Speaker 2: people who would not have a meal today but for
- 10:11Speaker 2: us being there. You don't tend to complain so much
- 10:14Speaker 2: about the speed of the Wi-Fi after you've had an
- 10:17Speaker 2: experience like that. I thank God for the experiences I've
- 10:20Speaker 2: had with Food for the Poor. And you can help
- 10:22Speaker 2: us have more experiences like that. I don't mean me.
- 10:24Speaker 2: It's not about me being able to go. It's about
- 10:26Speaker 2: the experience of seeing these kids fed, seeing these families helped,
- 10:30Speaker 2: seeing this poverty solved in ways. And again, it's not just,
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, we're throwing food at people. Hey, see you later.
- 10:39Speaker 2: We're showing them farming techniques and ways in which they
- 10:41Speaker 2: can take care of themselves. And here's how you do it.
- 10:43Speaker 2: You ready? Text FFTP. That's Food for the Poor. Text
- 10:48Speaker 2: FFTP to 51555. Text FFTP, as in food for the poor.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Text FFTP to 51555. You got $ 30 just to pick
- 11:00Speaker 2: a number? That's great. You got $ 100? I was tempted
- 11:07Speaker 2: to say that's even better. I don't care. You got $ 5.
- 11:09Speaker 2: You got $ 1, 000? Whatever your level of kindness is, I
- 11:13Speaker 2: appreciate it. Food for the poor appreciates it. Mike appreciates it.
- 11:16Speaker 2: these children appreciated, these families that you have fed appreciate it.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Text FFTP to 51555. Okay. Should your pastor get involved
- 11:27Speaker 2: in politics?
- 11:29Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 11:30Speaker 2: If I were, look, I do this for a living.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I'm in politics every day. If I were a man
- 11:35Speaker 2: of the cloth, if I were in the clergy, I
- 11:39Speaker 2: don't think I could restrain myself. And here's why. I
- 11:42Speaker 2: wouldn't be just giving a political riff instead of talking
- 11:45Speaker 2: to people about Jesus. I'd be talking to people about Jesus,
- 11:48Speaker 2: talking to people about God, and then sharing some things
- 11:52Speaker 2: from the real world that I think relate to what
- 11:55Speaker 2: God wants and what Jesus wants through what I know
- 11:58Speaker 2: in the Bible. So if you're talking about political issues
- 12:01Speaker 2: like abortion and gender stuff and gay rights, and you
- 12:05Speaker 2: inform yourself with biblical truths, well, first of all, that's
- 12:10Speaker 2: the Republican Party or so it seems. Not that we
- 12:13Speaker 2: are without sin. Well, the Lord knows we're not without sin.
- 12:16Speaker 2: as people, but we're not perfect. We don't claim the,
- 12:19Speaker 2: you know, the high ground on everything morally. I did
- 12:22Speaker 2: ask the sort of the musical question today on the show.
- 12:24Speaker 2: What exactly biblical precept does the Democrat party hold its
- 12:28Speaker 2: hat on? And don't even talk to me about immigration
- 12:30Speaker 2: and welcoming all people. Now, shut up. There is nothing.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 12:35Speaker 2: There is nothing in scripture that says you got to
- 12:38Speaker 2: let everybody into your country any more than you got
- 12:41Speaker 2: to let everybody into your house. You get to have borders, right?
- 12:45Speaker 2: kindness is a strange and perverted concept in the hands
- 12:49Speaker 2: of the left because they say you got to be
- 12:51Speaker 2: kind to a 13 year old boy who thinks he's
- 12:53Speaker 2: a girl by letting him chop his body parts off.
- 12:55Speaker 2: That's not kindness. That's perversity. That's demonic. That's insanity. So
- 13:01Speaker 2: when it comes to the way God defines life, that's
- 13:03Speaker 2: what guides me on abortion. The way God defines men
- 13:06Speaker 2: and women is That's what guides me on trans issues,
- 13:09Speaker 2: marriage issues, and all of that. So I'm on pretty
- 13:11Speaker 2: solid ground here, I would think. And so, and that's
- 13:15Speaker 2: just me as a person, as a media guy. If
- 13:18Speaker 2: I were a preacher, would I be saying these things? Yes. Yes. Now,
- 13:23Speaker 2: people are fond of saying nobody in the pulpit should
- 13:27Speaker 2: ever get into politics.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:29Speaker 2: You don't have to. If somebody would rather say, I'm
- 13:32Speaker 2: going to share some Bible verses with you. Here you go.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Some thoughts of mine about God and about Jesus. Now
- 13:38Speaker 2: go live those things and have a great day. All right.
- 13:41Speaker 2: That's a way to go. But if somebody wants to
- 13:44Speaker 2: get into a little deeper and talk about things that
- 13:46Speaker 2: are happening here on this mortal coil and make it
- 13:52Speaker 2: significant in real world ways, I'm 100% okay with that. Now,
- 13:57Speaker 2: there are two ways to be consistent. One is to
- 14:00Speaker 2: say that nobody in the clergy should ever say a
- 14:03Speaker 2: word about anything political. Okay. The other one, this is
- 14:07Speaker 2: my way of doing it, is to say, hey, bring it.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Pastors want to talk about political things. Let's make it
- 14:12Speaker 2: related to the faith that you're supposedly espousing. And by
- 14:16Speaker 2: the way, the marketplace is open to all of us.
- 14:19Speaker 2: If you want a church that does none of this,
- 14:21Speaker 2: there are plenty of them. If you want a church
- 14:22Speaker 2: that totally does this from a conservative view, there's those.
- 14:25Speaker 2: If you want churches that do this from a liberal view,
- 14:28Speaker 2: Lord knows those exist too. And we'll read about those
- 14:32Speaker 2: in the world of James Tallarico. But so it's all
- 14:36Speaker 2: freedom of choice, freedom of speech, freedom of religion. And
- 14:38Speaker 2: I'm a big freedom guy. So if a leftist pastor
- 14:43Speaker 2: wants to riff on political things, I certainly wouldn't muzzle that.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I would be curious to show up, though, and find
- 14:50Speaker 2: out what exact parts of that are from the actual Bible.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Just one. All right, here's something you do not have
- 14:57Speaker 2: to wonder about, and that is how to get out
- 14:59Speaker 2: of pain. If you've got shoulder issues like I got,
- 15:02Speaker 2: back issues like Mike had, or just any number of nagging,
- 15:07Speaker 2: pain-related things, pain functionality, it's relief factor. Our friends at
- 15:11Speaker 2: Relief Factor, there's a reason why every room we're in
- 15:15Speaker 2: is called the Relief Factor Studios, because we love these people.
- 15:18Speaker 2: We have this relationship. And what gave birth to that
- 15:22Speaker 2: relationship is these people who are behind Relief Factor said,
- 15:25Speaker 2: what we're going to do is get people out of
- 15:28Speaker 2: pain with all kinds of natural, organic things that don't
- 15:31Speaker 2: have to do with them popping prescription pills all the time.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And this is something you can check out for yourself.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Are there some things that absolutely require some type of
- 15:40Speaker 2: surgery or prescription? Sure, there are. But mine wasn't. I mean,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I had these sort of a rotator cuff issue here,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and it's just gone. It's great. And thank you, Relief Factor.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You get the three-week starter kit for $ 17. 76. Patriotic people, these. $ 17.
- 15:58Speaker 1: 76.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And that's the three-week starter. And if after three weeks
- 16:02Speaker 2: you go, hey, my pain is better. Well, then you
- 16:05Speaker 2: do what I've done. You just keep going and you're
- 16:08Speaker 2: glad you did. And I'm glad to send you to ReliefFactor.com.
- 16:11Speaker 2: ReliefFactor.com or 1-800-4-RELIEF. Now, at the top of each episode
- 16:18Speaker 2: of M & M Extra, we talk about our good
- 16:20Speaker 2: friends at Preborn and what they do for mothers. I
- 16:27Speaker 2: cannot ever wear the shoes properly. of a woman who's
- 16:30Speaker 2: just learned she's pregnant and she's terrified because maybe she's
- 16:33Speaker 2: 16 or maybe she's 26 and has three kids and
- 16:36Speaker 2: doesn't want a fourth one, or she's single and doesn't
- 16:40Speaker 2: want to be a mom yet. I understand all of
- 16:42Speaker 2: those things intellectually. It's a journey I will never walk,
- 16:46Speaker 2: but I have a responsibility for understanding the women who
- 16:49Speaker 2: go through this. And that's what makes me appreciate pre-born
- 16:52Speaker 2: so very, very much because they want Women who are
- 16:56Speaker 2: looking at, okay, I'm pregnant. What do I do now? Well,
- 16:59Speaker 2: those of us who are pro-life, we know what we
- 17:01Speaker 2: want you to do. We want you to have the baby.
- 17:04Speaker 2: But we know full well there are women who are
- 17:05Speaker 2: not ready to be moms, just don't want to do that.
- 17:08Speaker 2: That's why there's adoption. So abortion does not have to
- 17:12Speaker 2: be the path you travel. And what pre-born does for
- 17:15Speaker 2: women who are going, well, what are my options? Well,
- 17:17Speaker 2: when you see what's growing inside you, when you have
- 17:20Speaker 2: the ultrasound, you're a little less likely to snuff out
- 17:23Speaker 2: that life. She's twice as likely to choose life. You
- 17:28Speaker 2: will double the chance by helping us out at Preborn.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Here's what you do. Because we're giving free ultrasounds. It's
- 17:33Speaker 2: free ultrasounds. Ain't nothing free because the bottom line is
- 17:36Speaker 2: you're paying for it. And thank you very much. Here's how.
- 17:39Speaker 2: $ 140 helps give five mothers a free ultrasound and maybe
- 17:44Speaker 2: save five babies. $ 280 can help save 10 babies. You
- 17:50Speaker 2: want to make it a monthly thing? $ 28 a month,
- 17:53Speaker 2: save a baby a month for less than a dollar
- 17:55Speaker 2: a day. That's pretty sweet math no matter how you
- 17:58Speaker 2: slice it. And of course, we do have that option
- 18:01Speaker 2: available to you to spring $ 15, 000 to just buy an
- 18:04Speaker 2: ultrasound machine and save babies until that thing peters out.
- 18:08Speaker 2: That's $ 15, 000.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Maybe if you're more of a $ 140 or $ 280 style giver,
- 18:12Speaker 2: we love you too. And we would love for you
- 18:13Speaker 2: to go to 833-850-BABY, 833-850-BABY. Or go to preborn.com slash mmextra.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Preborn.com slash mmextra. All right, last thing. What the heck
- 18:33Speaker 2: is going on in France? It is often said of
- 18:37Speaker 2: Americans that we don't pay attention enough to stuff going
- 18:39Speaker 2: on in other countries. Probably true. I kind of have
- 18:42Speaker 2: to because, you know, this gig. But I looked at
- 18:46Speaker 2: something first thing this morning. And of course, it's middle
- 18:49Speaker 2: as I'm speaking to you right now. This second, it's
- 18:53Speaker 2: like eleven twenty three in the morning central time on
- 18:56Speaker 2: the sixth day of October. It may be a little
- 18:58Speaker 2: later if you're doing this on Apple or Spotify or
- 19:00Speaker 2: just picking up an episode later on in Dayton or
- 19:04Speaker 2: Damascus or Jakarta or wherever you're watching or listening. We
- 19:07Speaker 2: appreciate it wherever you consume the product. But as this
- 19:11Speaker 2: day dawned, this October 6th in France, their high school protests,
- 19:17Speaker 2: they started in mid-late September in the Paris suburbs, and
- 19:21Speaker 2: this just got stranger by the day. Students, joined by teachers, parents,
- 19:25Speaker 2: and some unions, well, there you are, are blockading high
- 19:29Speaker 2: schools and marching over conditions in France's high schools. Now,
- 19:33Speaker 2: there are about 3,700 high schools in France. The core complaints...
- 19:38Speaker 2: that are strongest in some of the poorer areas are unreplaced,
- 19:43Speaker 2: absent teachers, overcrowded classes. What's an overcrowded class? I was
- 19:47Speaker 2: trying to remember when I was in school. I had
- 19:50Speaker 2: some classes that had 15, 20 people in them. All right.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I had some classes that had about 30. And it's
- 19:55Speaker 2: not like I looked around at 29 other kids and went, man,
- 19:58Speaker 2: there's too many kids in here. But maybe if I'm
- 20:00Speaker 2: the teacher, I would have looked at that and said,
- 20:02Speaker 2: how in the world can I relate to that many kids?
- 20:05Speaker 2: And the smaller the class, the better the pie is sliced.
- 20:09Speaker 2: for getting the education job done. The other complaints include dilapidated,
- 20:13Speaker 2: sometimes poorly insulated or rodent infested buildings and long school days.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Long school days? What's a long school day? They had heat. Oh,
- 20:24Speaker 2: and it got hot in France. Red alert. It got
- 20:27Speaker 2: hot in France. And they ain't got no stinking air conditioning.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Because the stupid French have looked at this and said,
- 20:32Speaker 2: the air conditioning, it hurts the planet. It seems elitist
- 20:36Speaker 2: for us to have. We don't need your stinking air conditioning. Well,
- 20:40Speaker 2: how's that decision working for you there, France? And I
- 20:43Speaker 2: love France, by the way. Love their great country, great people,
- 20:46Speaker 2: but wacky politics. So everybody's going nuts. Police, they have
- 20:50Speaker 2: tear gas, water cannons. other crowd control measures from, uh,
- 20:55Speaker 2: Leon to Strasbourg to Paris, their light and barricades on fire. And, um,
- 21:03Speaker 2: basic budgetary study. Here's what's, as with a lot of
- 21:06Speaker 2: educational squabbles in America, the question always comes back to,
- 21:14Speaker 2: is it a money problem? And it almost, it almost
- 21:18Speaker 2: never is at its root. Uh, Could more money solve
- 21:22Speaker 2: some things?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Sure.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Do some schools in every country need some more money
- 21:27Speaker 2: for some things? By all means. But usually, whether it's
- 21:31Speaker 2: an American school system or a French school system, look
- 21:34Speaker 2: at the money you have been spending. And in fact,
- 21:36Speaker 2: being France, let's look at your entire country and the
- 21:41Speaker 2: stuff you've had to spend money on in your weird
- 21:44Speaker 2: socialist model that you're operating over there in the continent
- 21:48Speaker 2: of Europe. And maybe if you weren't doing those things,
- 21:52Speaker 2: you'd have all kinds of money to air condition a
- 21:56Speaker 2: school or two. But hey, that's just me. All right.
- 22:00Speaker 2: I'm half of the Eminem extra experience. I hope it's
- 22:02Speaker 2: been twice as much fun or at least 100% of
- 22:04Speaker 2: the fun. You and I are together again tomorrow. It'll
- 22:08Speaker 2: be as today has been a combination of what happened
- 22:11Speaker 2: on my Wednesday show and stuff that just pops into
- 22:14Speaker 2: my head because that's how I roll. I don't know
- 22:18Speaker 2: any other way. God bless this great country. And thank
- 22:21Speaker 2: you for hanging out with us. Follow me on Twitter
- 22:23Speaker 2: at Mark Davis, M-A-R-K Davis. Mike got his Twitter name back.
- 22:27Speaker 2: It's at Mike Gallagher. So follow him for all things Mike.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And Mike is off somewhere, but he remains active. He
- 22:35Speaker 2: just can't stay fully away. He's been posting some stuff.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Always entertaining because it's just the kind of guy he is. Anyway,
- 22:42Speaker 2: for Mike Gallagher, I'm Mark Davis. This is Eminem Extra.
- 22:45Speaker 2: God bless. See you next time. Have a great day.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Thank you.
