- 0:29Speaker 1: Welcome to Table Talk here at the Philadelphia Sports Table
- 0:31Speaker 1: podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast show
- 0:35Speaker 1: in the world, twelve years strong. We've got a great
- 0:38Speaker 1: show coming your way and a great discussion about the
- 0:41Speaker 1: upcoming college football season. I cannot wait for football to
- 0:44Speaker 1: get here, man, it has been so long since we
- 0:47Speaker 1: have seen any real snaps in college or professional football.
- 0:51Speaker 2: But joining us this week.
- 0:52Speaker 1: From fan side, and he is one of the lead
- 0:54Speaker 1: writers over there specializing and covering college football and the
- 1:00Speaker 1: Bell our good friend. It's great to see him, mister
- 1:02Speaker 1: John Buel or how you doing, Buddy.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I'm doing so good, Jeff liked. I can't wait for
- 1:08Speaker 3: college football or football'll be back. I know, man, I'm
- 1:12Speaker 3: just done with my braves. I know.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Well, you're from Atlanta, correct, you are you? That's your
- 1:18Speaker 1: hometown right.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm like j Atlanta teams all the way across
- 1:22Speaker 3: the board. So yeah, tough time with baseball, but football years.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Football is going to be exciting for you for sure.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And yeah, we just on our Opposition Territory podcast that
- 1:32Speaker 1: we put up every week where we hi light another
- 1:34Speaker 1: professional sports team. I recently did a show with one
- 1:39Speaker 1: of our buddies from Oh my gosh, I'm forgetting where
- 1:43Speaker 1: forgetting where he's from, but he covers the Atlanta Braves,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and he was just so dejected, honestly, and I felt that.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I was like, thanks for doing this, having to talk
- 1:52Speaker 1: about this team. Yeah, it's rough, Yes, rough. Well, why
- 1:57Speaker 1: don't we get into some college football talk here, my friend?
- 2:00Speaker 1: And there's a lot going on in the world of
- 2:03Speaker 1: college football, even though there's no games being played at
- 2:07Speaker 1: the moment. You know what the NIL has done to
- 2:11Speaker 1: the game and to the sport overall, what the new
- 2:14Speaker 1: college football playoff might actually look like in the future
- 2:17Speaker 1: based on TV contracts, and how that's all intertwined with
- 2:21Speaker 1: each other. The fact that we have two basically super
- 2:24Speaker 1: conferences at this point in the SEC and the Big Ten,
- 2:27Speaker 1: helping to really pave the way for college football in
- 2:29Speaker 1: a lot of different ways. I'm wondering, John, what's an
- 2:32Speaker 1: under the radar storyline in college football that we should
- 2:35Speaker 1: really be concentrating on as the season is upon us here?
- 2:39Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
- 2:41Speaker 3: You're gonna love this? Okay, I don't necessarily know if
- 2:44Speaker 3: it should be like at the front line of the conversation,
- 2:47Speaker 3: but it's definitely a back burner for sure. Okay, obviously
- 2:50Speaker 3: you and I both cover college football in the NFL
- 2:53Speaker 3: very closely, and I'm sure you're well aware of how
- 2:57Speaker 3: all the contracts, particularly for guys that are like second
- 3:00Speaker 3: round picks NFL like they're just not signing. It's taking
- 3:03Speaker 3: a very very long time.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Andrew Maccooba from this past draft of the Eagles just
- 3:08Speaker 1: signed yesterday.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like I saw what Donovan Azeruku out of
- 3:12Speaker 3: Boston College just signed with the Cowboys. The Falcons don't
- 3:16Speaker 3: have one because they have the two first round picks
- 3:18Speaker 3: in their third round pick Xavier Watts on Notre Dame.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I think that, like with the language of those contracts,
- 3:26Speaker 3: like the second round picks are getting kind of screwed here, Yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 3: the first round picks. So there may be some players
- 3:34Speaker 3: not saying all, but there might be some like who
- 3:36Speaker 3: are fringe first round picks. They may go back to
- 3:39Speaker 3: school and make more money with nil than what they
- 3:42Speaker 3: would with the second round pick contract. Like you look
- 3:46Speaker 3: at quarterbacks probably for example, yeah, Sam Levitt at Arizona State,
- 3:50Speaker 3: maybe Fernanda Mendoza Formulative Cal now in Indiana. These are
- 3:54Speaker 3: guys that have first round talent. People are speaking very
- 3:57Speaker 3: highly of them, but if they're not getting like really
- 4:00Speaker 3: high in grades, maybe they go back. I know that
- 4:03Speaker 3: Levitt has eligibility, maybe Mendoza. There may be other guys
- 4:06Speaker 3: out there, like John Bettier at Oklahoma formerly of Washington State,
- 4:11Speaker 3: Lenora Sellers, maybe another guy who could potentially do that
- 4:13Speaker 3: as well. Arch Manning, for sure. I don't think he's
- 4:15Speaker 3: coming out after this.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Year, right right, boy? That really is an interesting storyline.
- 4:20Speaker 1: How we're getting to a point where the almighty dollars
- 4:24Speaker 1: in college football is getting.
- 4:26Speaker 2: To be potentially on par with what is happening in
- 4:30Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That's really astonishing, John, I I was sitting on that one, like, well,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I think I think it's a fantastic answer. A lot
- 4:40Speaker 1: for us to contemplate, for sure, as we're heading into
- 4:42Speaker 1: this college football season. But I wanted to next dive
- 4:45Speaker 1: into a piece that you recently wrote on Fans Sided
- 4:48Speaker 1: where you felt, as we're getting into the getting into
- 4:52Speaker 1: the weeds here, especially with the SEC, you felt there
- 4:55Speaker 1: are two teams who are ranked way too high to
- 4:58Speaker 1: start the season, two teams that were ranked way too
- 5:00Speaker 1: low in the recent SEC preseason media poll. The teams
- 5:05Speaker 1: that you have listed in your piece, and I want
- 5:08Speaker 1: to let you dive into this because I want to
- 5:10Speaker 1: get into it are Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.
- 5:15Speaker 1: So can you give us your thoughts here, John on
- 5:18Speaker 1: the two teams you think are ranked too high and
- 5:20Speaker 1: the two teams ranked way too low in the SEC.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, finally something cool to talk about. I saw the
- 5:27Speaker 3: Big ten's got something out there. I think on three
- 5:29Speaker 3: has it out there too, from Cleveland dot Com. So
- 5:31Speaker 3: that can be your nitty lines at the top and
- 5:33Speaker 3: then ye, different conversations there. But in my neck of
- 5:37Speaker 3: the woods in the SEC, I think one and two
- 5:39Speaker 3: you can have Georgia or Texas. Either direction. Can't really
- 5:42Speaker 3: argue too much with that. Three, four or five. They've
- 5:45Speaker 3: got Alabama, LSU, South Carolina. Those are like the right
- 5:48Speaker 3: next teams, like to the point where if they don't
- 5:51Speaker 3: make the playoffs, it's disappointing. I think South Carolina I'm
- 5:55Speaker 3: much higher on them than I am Alabama. Look, Calenda
- 5:59Speaker 3: bor has got to like make a stand here. He's
- 6:02Speaker 3: got five coordinators on his team, Like it's you can
- 6:05Speaker 3: only delegate so much, right, And I look at South Carolina,
- 6:09Speaker 3: a team that I'm very high on. And look, Shane
- 6:12Speaker 3: Biemer is a bit of a front runner, but like
- 6:14Speaker 3: in a good way, like when his team's on fire,
- 6:16Speaker 3: he knows what he's doing. He's got a quarterback that
- 6:18Speaker 3: reminds me very much of Cam Newton, Josh Allen, Ben Roethlisberger,
- 6:22Speaker 3: and Lenora Sellers, a guy I'm I'm a big fan of.
- 6:25Speaker 3: You've got Dylan Stewart coming off the edge. You've got
- 6:27Speaker 3: Nick Harber, I believe at wide receiver, a tight end, yea,
- 6:31Speaker 3: a pass catcher. You've got I think your your gear
- 6:34Speaker 3: is a little bit higher with South Carolina than Alabama,
- 6:37Speaker 3: where I think they really only have one player that
- 6:39Speaker 3: can go to the next level, which is probably Ryan Williams,
- 6:43Speaker 3: because maybe they're other really good players of Cayden Proctor,
- 6:46Speaker 3: but he's a tackle, So I don't know if Alabama's
- 6:49Speaker 3: defense is as good as Texas or Georgia's in the
- 6:51Speaker 3: SEC at the high end. De Bor is a great coach.
- 6:54Speaker 3: This is a really good team that'll be vying for
- 6:56Speaker 3: a playoff spot, but like it'll be very close, like
- 6:59Speaker 3: probably will look more like a ten and two team,
- 7:02Speaker 3: yah nine and three team there So that's kind of
- 7:04Speaker 3: I've got South Carolina higher than Alabama.
- 7:07Speaker 2: That's how I think that's logical.
- 7:09Speaker 1: To be honest with you, John, at this point, I
- 7:11Speaker 1: really do think it's logical.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And I think when folks are talking about.
- 7:15Speaker 1: The top of the SEC Texas, Georgia, I gotta put
- 7:19Speaker 1: Georgia up there at this particular point. Again, no snaps
- 7:22Speaker 1: have been made during this, you know, during the course
- 7:26Speaker 1: of this discussion, but Texas, you have to show me,
- 7:29Speaker 1: you have to show me more Georgia. Over the course
- 7:31Speaker 1: of the past five years, they have shown us, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: who they are and how resilient they can be.
- 7:37Speaker 2: So that's where I stand right.
- 7:39Speaker 3: There with you. I can't really compe. And then the
- 7:42Speaker 3: other side of it, I've got Oklahoma being too low
- 7:45Speaker 3: in Florida too high. Those teams have brutal schedules. I
- 7:49Speaker 3: think it's like one and two hardest in the country.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I think three's Vanderbilt, four's Texas. So there's gonna be
- 7:54Speaker 3: some l's to be had there. I think with Florida,
- 7:58Speaker 3: people are really excited about what DJ Lagway could be
- 8:01Speaker 3: at quarterback. And you know, it pains me to praise
- 8:03Speaker 3: anything Florida, but like they could be really good. They
- 8:06Speaker 3: played very well down the stretch for Billion Napier, but
- 8:09Speaker 3: the Billionavier if it all scares me, Like there's there's
- 8:12Speaker 3: always a game or so where like he gets in
- 8:14Speaker 3: his head and then it's snowballs and it's always in
- 8:16Speaker 3: Jacksonville versus my team. And maybe this is a team
- 8:20Speaker 3: that could win like nine games with that schedule and
- 8:22Speaker 3: make the playoff. But like I mean, you've got like
- 8:26Speaker 3: six or seven games that are toss ups. You got Miami,
- 8:28Speaker 3: you got LSU, even Florida State, like you have to win,
- 8:32Speaker 3: you have to win Sunshine. And then there's just a
- 8:35Speaker 3: very tough slight there, like you think you're gonna be
- 8:37Speaker 3: all missing back to back years. That's that's gonna be tough, yep.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And then Oklahoma, Like I feel like I've come full
- 8:45Speaker 3: circle on the seniors. Not a fan of Brent Vinnables
- 8:47Speaker 3: as a head coach, kind of feel he's on the
- 8:49Speaker 3: hot seat with Jokistiglio and stepping down as athletic director.
- 8:53Speaker 3: I gonna hire somebody else. But you go out and
- 8:56Speaker 3: you completely revamp the offense. You bring in Ben Arbuckle
- 8:59Speaker 3: from Washington State, you get John Materia follow and then
- 9:02Speaker 3: you get Jade not from cal to come in. You
- 9:04Speaker 3: were able to retain to Marco Mury. I know you
- 9:06Speaker 3: guys are trying to get him to be or running
- 9:07Speaker 3: the backs coach there for a bit. Oh you legend
- 9:10Speaker 3: if Oklahoma Oklahoma, it makes some people look really dumb.
- 9:13Speaker 3: They're in the ICEC. But like, this is probably a
- 9:16Speaker 3: seven and five team with a really tough schedule, but
- 9:18Speaker 3: they could win about nine games. It wouldn't shock me
- 9:20Speaker 3: if like them in Florida, they're kind of in that
- 9:23Speaker 3: same sort of territory where like it can go either way.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I like we'll miss a little bit more than probably
- 9:27Speaker 3: both of those teams. But yeah, I think Oklahoma is
- 9:29Speaker 3: a team that we're really sleeping on.
- 9:31Speaker 1: There's a lot of various dynamics happening in the SEC
- 9:34Speaker 1: this year that's really going to be interesting to not
- 9:38Speaker 1: only watch but dissect as well. A lot of different
- 9:41Speaker 1: storylines that are gonna actually just overlap with each other
- 9:44Speaker 1: in the SEC. It's it's really gonna be phenomenal to
- 9:47Speaker 1: watch it. But moving along, of course, I am a
- 9:50Speaker 1: Penn State alum and Penn State football lover have been
- 9:54Speaker 1: my entire life, and I think this could be the
- 9:57Speaker 1: year they have the opportunity to play for a NASH Championship.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I do say that with a little bit of hesitation here. John.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Then again, I understand the realities and nature of Penn
- 10:08Speaker 1: State football. Again, as I've watched this team and organization
- 10:12Speaker 1: my entire life. They don't usually show up at all
- 10:16Speaker 1: in big time, basic situations and big moments. So what
- 10:20Speaker 1: are your thoughts on Penn State and what they're going
- 10:23Speaker 1: to need to do to get over that hump to
- 10:25Speaker 1: be a real national contender in college football?
- 10:28Speaker 2: What are your thoughts? And'd be brutally honestly, I've been
- 10:32Speaker 2: waiting to have.
- 10:33Speaker 3: This conversation, so right now, I would say they're about
- 10:37Speaker 3: seven teams in college football that I would be stunned
- 10:40Speaker 3: if they did not make the playoff, And I'll kind
- 10:41Speaker 3: of break that down into tears. So the top two
- 10:45Speaker 3: are probably Penn State and Clemson. These are two teams
- 10:47Speaker 3: I'm very high on. I think Clemson's runaway the best
- 10:50Speaker 3: team in the ACC. I think Penn State in the
- 10:53Speaker 3: Big Ten like they've got a fantastic coaching staff. I mean,
- 10:56Speaker 3: getting Jim Doles from Ohio State's U Yeah, another year
- 10:59Speaker 3: with Andy Colteneck, as you're say, did a lot of
- 11:03Speaker 3: great things. They're under lance slight polt at Kansas and
- 11:05Speaker 3: Buffalo before that. I'm a big fan of Drew Aller.
- 11:09Speaker 3: I know he's a very polarizing player out there, but
- 11:12Speaker 3: I think he's he's a more talented version of JJ McCarthy.
- 11:14Speaker 3: To me, that's how I've always viewed him in a
- 11:17Speaker 3: very positive way. I love the running back tandem of
- 11:20Speaker 3: Nick Singleton and k Tron Allen. You're always gonna have
- 11:23Speaker 3: good defense there. It's just it's the James Franklin of
- 11:27Speaker 3: it all. It's just it's, look, you're got You've got
- 11:30Speaker 3: a team that could go twelve to zero. You probably
- 11:32Speaker 3: got a ten and two ceiling. You're probably gonna go
- 11:34Speaker 3: eleven to one. I think you host Oregon, you'll probably
- 11:37Speaker 3: win that game. You go on the road to Ohio State,
- 11:40Speaker 3: maybe lose that, but like, you can't lose to Ohio
- 11:43Speaker 3: State twice, right, like then in Indianapolis or in the playoff. Right.
- 11:47Speaker 3: But it's like with James Franklin, he doesn't lose as
- 11:50Speaker 3: a favorite, but he doesn't beat a top five team.
- 11:52Speaker 3: So you got something has got to give here, and
- 11:55Speaker 3: I will say this right now, there were only three
- 11:57Speaker 3: head coaches in college football at the Division one FBS
- 12:01Speaker 3: level that have won a national championship. Davias Wings want two,
- 12:04Speaker 3: Kirby Smart's one two in Ryan Day's one to one.
- 12:07Speaker 3: And I can't really speak on behalf of how people
- 12:09Speaker 3: felt about Dabo before he did it, right, People were
- 12:12Speaker 3: saying things about this about Kirby Smart, they said this
- 12:15Speaker 3: about Ryan Day, and like James Franklin's kind of in
- 12:18Speaker 3: that group with like Steve Starkesian, Dan Landing, maybe Kaitlin
- 12:22Speaker 3: de Bor where you're like, maybe they could do it.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I mean, I think Brian Kelly is in a tough
- 12:26Speaker 3: spot with you know, age and everything like that LSU,
- 12:29Speaker 3: but like James Franklin's got the team to potentially do it.
- 12:33Speaker 3: It's gonna come down to Aller playing really well, getting
- 12:36Speaker 3: himself drafted in the first round, probably gonna end up
- 12:39Speaker 3: playing for his hometown Browns. In all that thatihood, but very
- 12:43Speaker 3: very bullish on Penn State here, but like I haven't
- 12:46Speaker 3: gone through with win total projections for the Big Ten yet,
- 12:49Speaker 3: but like they're going to be in the playoff for sure.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Probably your next three teams beyond Penn State, Clemsoner, you know, Georgia,
- 12:55Speaker 3: Ohio State, Texas kind of banking on like the four
- 12:58Speaker 3: being really high, and then you've got Oregon and inter
- 13:00Speaker 3: name who. I don't think you win it all, but
- 13:02Speaker 3: should make the playoff.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree with you. I think that's some
- 13:05Speaker 2: really good analysis.
- 13:06Speaker 1: And as we head into a break, John, let everybody
- 13:11Speaker 1: know where they can follow you on the interwebs out
- 13:13Speaker 1: there if they want to see what you're doing there.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Fan Sided, Yeah, you can follow me on Twitter or
- 13:17Speaker 3: the X at Bueler one eighteen. You can read all
- 13:20Speaker 3: my content on fanside dot com. Again. I cover college
- 13:23Speaker 3: football nationally, the NFL nationally, and baseball sort of nationally,
- 13:27Speaker 3: but mostly through a torture Atlanta Braves fan. I've got
- 13:32Speaker 3: a two podcasts I do. I do a False Start
- 13:34Speaker 3: on Mondays and Thursdays, which is college football show I
- 13:38Speaker 3: do with my boss Cody Williams. We're trying to entertain
- 13:41Speaker 3: ourselves here. And then on every Wednesday, I do an
- 13:43Speaker 3: Atlanta Falcon show by myself called Blogging Dirty with Fansided,
- 13:47Speaker 3: where I talk about the Falcons, really excited about that
- 13:49Speaker 3: team this year.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Awesome, and folks, if you're watching on YouTube, we've got
- 13:53Speaker 1: our social media sites up here at the Philadelphia Sports
- 13:55Speaker 1: Table podcast show. You can follow us on Instagram, over
- 13:59Speaker 1: at Twitter, slash like our Facebook page. We're over at
- 14:02Speaker 1: threads as well. Eric and I are on Blue Sky
- 14:06Speaker 1: as well. You can follow me over on the TikTok
- 14:09Speaker 1: at mister Jeff Warren. So we are going to take
- 14:13Speaker 1: a quick break here to pay some bills. We're going
- 14:15Speaker 1: to be back in just a bit with.
- 14:16Speaker 2: More college football talk.
- 14:19Speaker 1: All right, we are back with our good friend John
- 14:21Speaker 1: Bueller from Fan Sided and as we're moving along with
- 14:24Speaker 1: the discussion here John, with regard to this college football season,
- 14:29Speaker 1: the upcoming season here, all eyes i think because of
- 14:33Speaker 1: his last name, are going to be on Arch Manning
- 14:35Speaker 1: down in Texas this season. But there are going to
- 14:38Speaker 1: be a lot of other quarterbacks in college football, a
- 14:41Speaker 1: slate of quarterbacks outside of Manning that are also going
- 14:45Speaker 1: to have a microscope on them as well as a
- 14:48Speaker 1: number of NFL teams are really going to be looking
- 14:50Speaker 1: for that next franchise quarterback after this college football season
- 14:53Speaker 1: is all said and done. You mentioned Drew Aller, you
- 14:56Speaker 1: know he could potentially be one of those quarterbacks you
- 14:59Speaker 1: said right before we went to break, you know, Cleveland
- 15:02Speaker 1: Browns possibly looking at him, could be a destination for him.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So I'm wondering which quarterbacks are you're really going to
- 15:08Speaker 1: be keeping your eyes on during this upcoming college football
- 15:11Speaker 1: season and why?
- 15:13Speaker 3: Okay, so we get this. So there's there's three quarterbacks
- 15:17Speaker 3: that maybe three or four, Yeah, four quarterbacks that I
- 15:21Speaker 3: think could potentially be you number one overall pick. You're
- 15:25Speaker 3: looking at Leonora Sellers out of South Carolina, depending on
- 15:29Speaker 3: if he comes out, Drew Aller if he has a
- 15:31Speaker 3: fantastic You're at Penn State, Kate Klubnick out of Clemson,
- 15:35Speaker 3: and then Garrettnusmeyer out of LSU. I think Alur club
- 15:39Speaker 3: Nick and alur Clubnik and nuss Meyer they're all probably
- 15:45Speaker 3: going to turn pro because I don't think that they've
- 15:47Speaker 3: got much eligibility left. Sellers could come back. I think
- 15:51Speaker 3: all four of them have obvious NFL prototypes that work
- 15:55Speaker 3: in this league. Sellers, like I've mentioned already, look kind
- 15:58Speaker 3: of reminds me of Josh Allen, cam Newton, big Ben
- 16:01Speaker 3: Aler kind of reminds me of JJ McCarthy. I think
- 16:04Speaker 3: there's other quarterbacks out there that fit that mold too,
- 16:07Speaker 3: Garrett Nessmeyer, he's kind of more of like a Matthew
- 16:09Speaker 3: Stafford justin Herbert. It can be great, but then it
- 16:12Speaker 3: could also be Blake Portles that that's in between. That's
- 16:15Speaker 3: same prototype. Yeah, and then Kate club Nick a little
- 16:18Speaker 3: bit smaller than I thought, but he kind of reminds
- 16:20Speaker 3: me of like a Baker Mayfield Jackson Dart type of player. Uh,
- 16:25Speaker 3: those are guys that would be really in on and
- 16:27Speaker 3: if you go beyond that, you know, I've also mentioned
- 16:29Speaker 3: Sam Levitt, the quarterback at Arizona State. He's got eligibility.
- 16:33Speaker 3: He kind of reminds me of like Rock Purty a
- 16:35Speaker 3: little bit in a good way. And then you've also
- 16:38Speaker 3: got By Bonex a little bit there too. And then
- 16:40Speaker 3: you've got Fernanda Mendoza, who I've got to see a
- 16:43Speaker 3: little bit more on him transferring from cal to Indiana.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I think he's going to be there for two years
- 16:47Speaker 3: to play for Kreis Signetty. I think his brother Alberto
- 16:50Speaker 3: is on the team too, so, but he's he's very promising.
- 16:54Speaker 3: He kind of a very tall guy, very handsome guy.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Maybe he gets I you back in the playoff again.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Sounds good?
- 17:00Speaker 1: All right? Well, moving along, There's gonna be some very
- 17:04Speaker 1: very exciting wide receivers and running backs to watch this year.
- 17:08Speaker 1: I mean, whether it's running backs like we've mentioned already
- 17:11Speaker 1: here k Tron Allen and Nick Singleton at Penn State
- 17:14Speaker 1: and a two headed monster. You know what they're going
- 17:17Speaker 1: to do to the college football running game and will
- 17:20Speaker 1: they be able to break any potential records? Got Jeremiah
- 17:23Speaker 1: Love from Notre Dame as well. Wide receivers were going
- 17:26Speaker 1: to be looking at. I know I'm going to be
- 17:28Speaker 1: looking at Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State, Cam Coleman from Auburn.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'm wondering which offensive skill players are you most excited
- 17:36Speaker 1: about watching this upcoming season?
- 17:38Speaker 3: Here in Jeremiah Smith's special, he really is. This guy's
- 17:43Speaker 3: really good.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I think he's on Ohio State. Iied it.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I mean, he's got the NFL pedigree with cousin Gena,
- 17:52Speaker 3: but he he'd probably be the number one pick if
- 17:56Speaker 3: he could come out. I think he's special. Ryan Williams
- 17:59Speaker 3: all of Bama kind of reminds me of Larry Fitzgerald.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Like Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, time player, super young but
- 18:05Speaker 3: super gifted. Elijas Srot for Indiana's really talented as well,
- 18:09Speaker 3: as is Jordan Tyson the various NA State I would
- 18:12Speaker 3: say running back obviously, Penn State's probably not the best
- 18:15Speaker 3: tenem in the country there with k Tron Allen and
- 18:17Speaker 3: Nick Singleton. I'm a big fan of my guy at Georgia,
- 18:19Speaker 3: Nate Frasier as well. Uh with jam Miller down there
- 18:22Speaker 3: at Auburn, he's a lot of fun as well. I'm
- 18:25Speaker 3: trying to think of. Oh and then Jeremiah Loves just it.
- 18:27Speaker 3: He's he's he's.
- 18:29Speaker 2: So good, he is, he is ridiculous good.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I just I look at whether whether it is a
- 18:35Speaker 1: player like Jeremiah Love or whether it is jeremih Swi
- 18:38Speaker 1: Smith at Ohio State, like I view these two guys
- 18:42Speaker 1: who can actually carry the offense on their back throughout
- 18:45Speaker 1: much of the season. And you know, with college football,
- 18:49Speaker 1: so we certainly see that year after year. But man,
- 18:52Speaker 1: those two guys are so incredibly special with what they're
- 18:54Speaker 1: going to be able to do, and I think what
- 18:55Speaker 1: they're probably gonna end up doing in the NFL as well,
- 18:58Speaker 1: And I just I that look. I am very happy
- 19:01Speaker 1: with k Tron Allen and Nick Singleton at Penn State.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But man, Jeremiah Love, I'd take him too. But buddy,
- 19:09Speaker 1: as we're finishing up our discussion here and again, it
- 19:12Speaker 1: was so fantastic having you come on to talk about
- 19:14Speaker 1: this upcoming college football season. You know, it seems like
- 19:18Speaker 1: seems like so much of the time we're concentrating on
- 19:21Speaker 1: offensive skill players so much in college football. I mean,
- 19:23Speaker 1: rightfully so, but we also need to keep our eyes
- 19:26Speaker 1: on defensive players as well. They're gonna have a clear
- 19:31Speaker 1: impact in the game. I think obviously the offensive guys,
- 19:34Speaker 1: they just get more of that limelight pushed on them
- 19:37Speaker 1: and shown on them. One of your colleagues over at
- 19:40Speaker 1: fans Sided, Caden Handwork. He put up a piece recently
- 19:43Speaker 1: about the five best returning linebackers this coming season in
- 19:47Speaker 1: college football. I'm wondering what are some of your thoughts on,
- 19:50Speaker 1: whether it's linebackers or even defensive players overall that we're
- 19:53Speaker 1: gonna need to keep our eyes on this season.
- 19:56Speaker 2: What are your thoughts here?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Okay, I get some frenzytion is wrong, but that that's okay.
- 20:01Speaker 3: It's still a little bit early. I think the best
- 20:05Speaker 3: defensive player in college tripball is Caleb Downs at Ohio State.
- 20:09Speaker 3: He's really good. Wish you would have come to Georgia. Yeah,
- 20:12Speaker 3: mostly had an apartment here but that didn't work out. Yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 3: he's he's really good. I think he could be a
- 20:19Speaker 3: top five pick, Like he doesn't he sounds like a
- 20:21Speaker 3: guy that the Jets would take. Like it's just right. Obviously,
- 20:26Speaker 3: Dennis Sutton here for Penn State, it's fantastic. He's kind
- 20:28Speaker 3: of keeping the you know, the Abdul Carter. I don't
- 20:31Speaker 3: know if I don't know if he's in Stick City,
- 20:32Speaker 3: but like he's a he's that type of player there
- 20:34Speaker 3: for Penn State. For Georgia, we know about what Christian
- 20:39Speaker 3: Miller and what his name c J. Allen, I think
- 20:43Speaker 3: I might be missing that in the front seven Georgie's
- 20:46Speaker 3: Georgia's gonna have a filthy secondary with Dalen Evert and
- 20:48Speaker 3: kJ Bolden. Uh, that's gonna be good. I also think
- 20:52Speaker 3: that Clemson's gonna have some guys in the trenches with
- 20:54Speaker 3: Peter Woods and t J. Parker and then obviously uh
- 20:58Speaker 3: Mateo at Oregon and then Bryce Batcher like that that's
- 21:01Speaker 3: gonna I think Oregon's defense is probably going to carry
- 21:03Speaker 3: them a little bit more because they've got some uncertainty's offense.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be an interesting upcoming college football season
- 21:10Speaker 1: for sure. Again, folks, John Buehler from Fans Sided on
