- 0:40SPEAKER_01: This is your first time tuning in.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Our network is in its 16th year and listened to in over 30 countries.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: I would like to personally thank you for giving me the gift of your time.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: As always, it is my honor to hold space within for you.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: And today it's, I'm not going to lie, I think the meditation episodes are my favorite episodes because I am a big proponent and fan of meditation.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: And so this is a meditation episode, spoiler alert.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: And essentially, we're still talking about that whole collaboration over competition vibe.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: And what I want to talk about and what this meditation is going to be about is actually going to focus a little more on the competition aspect of it and how to move from that.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: And the reason for that is essentially this is my personal belief.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure other people have their own beliefs.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure that there are other people who have said similar things to this.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: But I want to talk about some of the lower vibrational or what people, what we would associate as negative emotions that drag us out of our power, drag us out of our collaborative nature, and put us in that competition and put us in that headbutting confrontational place over the coming from love and coming from self-acceptance.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: And I think the majority of these lower vibrational emotions or feelings, categories, however you want to coin it, and I won't get into the two that I really want to get into.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Um, three really.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: But I think that essentially they stem from insecurity.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Most human negative behavior stems from threat and insecurity.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: And competition by nature is trying to be better than the human next to you, or hopefully the human within you, right?
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: And so it comes from a place of lack.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: It comes from a place of feeling less than.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: So needing to go beyond, above, farther.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And that's where in my mind, competition breeds from, right?
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: It breeds from insecurity, lack mentality, not feeling good enough, and looking at someone else and projecting the distinct, like what is the age-old saying, right?
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: It is comparison is the thief of joy, right?
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: So it comes from competition cannot come without comparison.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: You are looking at someone or something else, and you're comparing yourselves to them.
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: You are then taking a stance of inferiority in your own mindset, in your own heart space, you feel less than compared to that person place thing, whatever it is.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: And then it feeds this sense of it can be anger, resentment, shame, fear, self-loat.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: Like pick a pick a crappy feeling and it breeds that, right?
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: So the ones that I really want to focus on are the ones that you can reframe to help you figure out what you want.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: And to me, this is essential in the betterment process for yourself.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: The reason being that these negative emotions show you what it is that you are inspired to be, to do, to have.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: And instead of projecting the why do you have it and I don't, big fat go get it yourself because you have the power to do so.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: But maybe you don't know what you want.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: And I've often been, you know, like it's it's sometimes we know what we don't want, and that's an easier place to start than what we do want, because you know, if you're provided all of these options, it's like going on Netflix, it's like trying to pick a movie when you have all of the different apps, right?
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Like you can spend the length of time a movie would actually take to watch trying to pick one with the spoiled for choice options that we have here in a very blessed, you know, quote unquote air quote for those who are watching First World Nation, right?
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Um, so in a privileged society who has internet electricity, running water, food, and all of our basic needs met, we we get to home from our work at the end of the day, we sit on our couch and we turn on the TV and we can watch Netflix, we can watch HBO Max, we can watch stars, we can watch cable, we can watch Apple, you can pick your poison, right?
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: And by the time you figure out what it is you want to watch, you've wasted most of the time that you would have spent watching it.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: That's kind of the similarity to people who don't know what they want.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Some people know exactly what they want and they go after it with blinders on, like a horse in a race, and that's great for them.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: They they are the ambitious, they are the ones that are ahead of the pack, air quotes again.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: To that end, the emotions that I find the most useful for reframing are guilt and jealousy.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I don't know if they technically qualify as emotions because I am not a psychologist.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: I am a yoga instructor, meditation enthusiast, and reiki master.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: That's what I do.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: But that being said, I find that jealousy and envy rear their heads when you want something that somebody else has.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: This again breeds that competition.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: And you start to compete with them for whatever it might be that you feel they have that you don't, or and and then it breeds resentment within a relationship.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: It's shitty.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: Pardon me, I said a naughty word, but it is.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Um, and so how do we get around that?
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Well, I I tend to look at the feeling.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: All right, so if I if I'm with someone and and I they have something that I want, well, I'm not, I'm again, only child syndrome.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: I'm not, I don't want to take it from them.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: That's theirs, belongs to them.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: It's their path, it's their life, they have it, that's great.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: But what what is it about that feeling in me of jealousy or envy that I want that they have?
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, maybe whatever it might be, that is showing me what it is that I want.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: It's showing me my path.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: That feeling, the reframe for jealousy is oh, okay, well, I have this feeling that they have something that I want that I don't have, that lack, right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: I don't, and lack is a huge mindset shift kind of conversation, right?
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: So if you feel jealous or envious of someone else for something, someone, right?
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: Like that they have, which I never love that, but you know, for whatever the reason, a healthy relationship, a happy home, uh a trending positive job, right?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Whatever it might be, a career path, all the money, you know, like world travel, whatever it is, babies, children, whatever it might be.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Then look within yourself and say, All right, I am so grateful that this emotion has made me realize that this is something that's so important to me, and I'm not focusing on it.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Where your focus goes, your energy flows.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: That is another saying that I did not coin, but that is pretty well established.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: And guilt, I find, is almost the opposite.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: But the reason that it's the opposite is because it's because we've taken an action usually against our higher selves, better judgment that has rendered us in a feeling of I should not have done that.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Like the I love Lucy face.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: For those of you who ever watched out of the ooh, like oops, oopsies.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: I I've made an error in judgment and I've taken an action that usually spoken words that usually you can't undo.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Guilt comes from the ability to not undo something unless you are Catholic, such as I, and then you can go to confession, hopefully, and and at least be forgiven for it.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: Forgiveness is a huge part of guilt, right?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: But guilt can guilt and shame are a little bit interlinked.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: But what can we learn from our guilt?
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Well, A, never to make that action again, right?
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: And B we then look at the action itself and what what inspired the action.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Oftentimes it can be competition, oftentimes it can be insecurity.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: A lot of it breeds from the same the same environments within ourselves that again are feeling less than, are feeling not good enough.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: It's a low self-worth response.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: And I definitely, who hasn't struggled with self-worth?
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Probably people who don't actually look at themselves enough to realize that they might struggle from that.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: But essentially, if you have if you have acted or behaved or spoken in such a way that renders you in a feeling of guilt and or shame, then that is showing you how not to behave in the future to avoid those emotions, those feelings.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Very simple in my mind.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: It's really hard in practice, right?
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: It you have to come out of reactivity.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Generally, competition, um, envy, jealousy, guilt, shame, all of those things are reactions.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: So they are not coming from a place of you making a conscious choice to move forward in a certain direction for your highest in the self.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: They are reacting to environmental stressors, situations, etc.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: So if you're if you're in, if you find yourself in those emotions, look at the reason why.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Have pause, right?
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: The the first thing is pause and reflect.
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: That can be very hard, especially in the moment, but it is paramount to developing your sense of true self, who you really are and what you really want, and what makes you happy and fulfilled, and feelings of empowerment, growth, and love and cohesion and collaboration, right?
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: That's what we're talking about.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: So I would rather have a meditation to help us pivot from the emotion of the jealousy, envy, guilt, shame into the self-awareness and observation.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: Again, meditation is all about developing your relationship with your inner observer.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: So this is in my mind the perfect way is to not let's I don't I've thought I put thought into this.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: And it's like, I don't really want to do a meditation on collaborator.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Like, what's your next best collaboration?
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Fine, great.
- 11:03SPEAKER_01: No, I would rather help the the most people, which I feel more often than not, most people are stuck in in this idea of less than low, low self-worth, lack mindset.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: And how do we get out of that?
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Well, we have to recognize what sparks our jealousy.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: That's always my first question when I'm talking to clients is okay, well, like tell me if people are looking at me going, I don't know what I want to do, I don't know what I want.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: My first question to them is, okay, good.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: So when was the last time you felt really jealous or envious of someone?
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: And they have an answer immediately for me, generally.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: And then my second question to that person is, okay, why do you feel jealous of them?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: What was the reason?
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: What made you jealous?
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: And then they'll answer.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: And then I'll say, Okay, well, then that's where you want, that's what you want.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: It's very it's to me, it's very black and white in that way.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: It's very simple.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: If you're jealous of someone, you want what they have, you want what they're doing, you want to be them, you want great.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: So go do it yourself.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: Whatever you do is going to be your special snowflake way of doing it.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: You don't have to compete with them, you don't need to be jealous of them.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: You need to say, thank you for illuminating to me the thing that I was ignoring that I wanted in my life that I'm not currently focusing on, and so I don't have right now.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: It doesn't mean I can't have it.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: It doesn't mean because someone has something, you can't also have it.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: Maybe not a person, but a relationship, and your person is not their person, and that's okay.
- 12:29SPEAKER_01: So it's a matter of illuminating the light bulb moment, if you will, of awareness of oh, that's actually what I want.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And then making choices that align you to that thing that you want so that the jealousy falls by the wayside, and you wind up eventually hopefully achieving what it is that you want and being fulfilled, happy, and getting it yourself, therefore providing the feeling of self-worth and removing the lack.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Now I know that is dumbed down in its simplicity, but essentially I do believe it's it's that simple.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: The practice of actually going from not having to having is the process.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: That is the growth, that is the self-awareness, that is the I recognize, I act in the direction of what I want.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: And then there's a maybe a time span where you have to repeat the action until you receive what it is that you want in whatever special snowflake way that it comes into you.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: And that is left up to God, the universe, angels, whoever it is that you look up to, your higher self, etc.
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: So anyway, those are the conversations that I leave in the capable hands of those who listen to this podcast.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: But my point again is very simply this meditation is going to be about moving you from the lower vibrational emotions of jealousy, envy.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Because the the guilt and shame is a different.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: I may do a meditation on that at a later date, but that's a different, that's I've already done something naughty, right?
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Something I need to repent for, something that I feel bad about, that I have guilt or shame about, and and unpacking that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: And I think that's a different conversation.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: The jealousy and envy is a direct correlation to the competition versus collaboration.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: It is what stands, in my humble opinion, in the way.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: It is the sticky glue trap between competition and collaboration.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Because as soon as you get out of the competitive mindset of I'm jealous, I don't have this thing that I want, and you compete with the person that does, whatever it is for a job, for money, whatever, whatever it might be, you are you are taking yourself out of the opportunity to collaborate with that same individual for the betterment of maybe their career and yours, right?
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: You're you're eliminating all of these potentials, all of these possibilities that could be open if you just shipped your mindset.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: So that's what we're going to do.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: All of that being said, I will now get into the few minutes where I give you the opportunity to set yourself up comfortably for this meditation.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: And I will encourage you to find yourself in a position physically, because the first step in a meditation process is to make yourself as physically supported and comfortable as you possibly can.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: Traditionally, again, it is an upright seat, maybe on a pillow, maybe on rolled towels or a blanket, so that your hips are slightly above your knees, your spine and chakra system is in alignment.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: That is the traditional meditation.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: If that is uncomfortable for you, a chair with your feet grounded on the floor and an upright seat will be fine in a pinch.
- 15:39SPEAKER_01: I'm also a big proponent of reclined meditation.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: I know it's not traditional, but it is usually a space that can serve to support almost anyone to feel comfortable enough to not be pulled out of their meditative space by discomfort in the body.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And that is the most important thing in my mind for when it comes to meditation.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: So lying down comfortably on the floor, on a yoga mat, even on a bed or a couch, um, making sure that if you are laying on the floor, palms are up for inspiration, down for grounding.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: And if you prefer to like put your legs up the wall, I love that.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: I love to meditate with my legs up the wall.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: This is going to be, you know, our typical 15 to 30 minute meditation, but probably around the 15 to 20 minute mark.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: And if you do choose to do that, you can often mimic the grounding sensation by placing either an eye pillow with a towel around it or a regular pillow on the soles of your feet, one that's not going to fall onto you as you meditate.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: So make sure it's it's floppy enough to stay where it needs to be, not some sort of like hard pillow.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: And getting yourself in a position that you know will be comfortable for you for the duration so that you don't need to come out of your meditative state to adjust your physical comfort level.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Now that I have said all of those things, I invite you to meditate with me.
- 17:04SPEAKER_01: And I'm going to situate myself comfortably.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: We will begin as we always do by gently lowering our gaze, eventually closing our eyes.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Beginning to draw our awareness into our bodies by connecting with our breath.
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: And as we breathe very simply, allowing that breath to flow into all the points of contact between ourselves and the earth beneath us.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: As we truly begin to ground out.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: Bring your hands instinctively onto your body where you feel the sensation of envy and jealousy.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: Don't overthink this.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: Wherever your hands go is where they're meant to be.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: That's good.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Face this door with a sensation of curiosity, love, and above all, awareness.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: And now that we have softened the area of our bodies that we organically, physically associate with feelings of jealousy or envy, I'd like you to reach for the handle of that door in your mind's eye and slowly open it.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: What is the first thing that you see behind that door?
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: Try and reserve self-judgment above all.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Allow yourself to experience any emotions associated to what you see behind this door.
- 23:53SPEAKER_02: Notice the light coming through it, the darkness within it, whatever you see is true for you, safe and sacred in this space.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Now I would like you to take a step through the door, looking down at your the foot of your mind's eye version of yourself.
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: Step through this threshold slowly and confidently with your mind's eye and your body.
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: Feel the solid ground on the other side of this threshold.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: With certainty and beyond the shadow of doubt, that what is on the other side of this door that creates that feeling of jealousy or envy is and can be ground you are free to walk on.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: Know that if this aspect of you that may be currently unfulfilled, there's something in your heart that you want to be a truth in your life, that you have the capacity to create and attract it.
- 26:09SPEAKER_02: Depending on what you see behind this door that you are now sharing space with, begin to interact as yourself in this space.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: Feel what it is like to be in the very thing that you desire that creates that spark within you that you have judged as negative, that the world has told you is negative.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: And start to feel the love within it, feel the peace it brings you, feel the joy it inspires within you.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: Who are you on the other side of this threshold?
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: Nothing has changed.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: You simply took a step and felt the ground beneath you.
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: The truth and reality that this space exists, and the only thing in the way is a door that you are free to open and step through.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: Breathe here.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: Allow your mind's eye to expand the vision of what brings you joy.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: What lights up your heart?
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: Feel the positive emotions associated with having exactly what it is that you saw someone else enjoying.
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Allow your mind's eyes to show you what it actually looks like for you, not what it looks like for them.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: As you begin to visualize yourself, experiencing exactly what thrills you.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Begin to deepen your breath into the backs of your hands once more.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: Begin to commit this sensation to memory, the sensations of fulfillment, the sensations of love, the sensations of having experiencing, being one with exactly what it is that you have been seeking.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: As you breathe into the backs of your hands on this, whatever air of your body, the original feeling surfaced for you.
- 30:17SPEAKER_02: Know that you have the power to change the emotion associated with the thought.
- 30:40SPEAKER_02: As you breathe into your hands, begin to look again around you at the very thing that has shown up to show you what is true for you in love and certainty and practice and gently without turning around, take a step backwards through the very door that you entered.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Feel again the grounding sensation from underneath your feet as you step back into the place on the original side of that threshold.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: And with the door open, I'd like you to visualize the doorway disappearing.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: I'd like you to visualize the energy that was behind it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: Now simply within and around you.
- 32:32SPEAKER_02: Because you are exactly what it is that you want.
- 32:42SPEAKER_02: Commit this feeling of separation from what it is that you want to be released.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Know that the doorway is no longer stopping you, and that you have within you everything you need to be successful, and not necessarily pursuing or attracting, but becoming exactly that, exactly who is and has what it is that means the most to you.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: Feel a sensation of unyielding gratitude for that lower vibrational emotion that showed you the doorway to your most welcomed, happiest experience, environment, timeline.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: Allow that lower vibrational emotion to be replaced with this sensation of ultimate relief and joy, knowing that it already belongs to you, it is already meant for you, and you are simply in the process of becoming there is no need to feel that emotion of jealousy or envy ever again, it has served its purpose, and you've now committed this truth, this warmth, this sensation of love and gratitude for that what it is, for the acknowledgement of that, which it is that you want.
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: But instead of wanting, you have now stepped into it fully and completely with grace, with gratitude, and with love.
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: Begin to deepen your breathing with light all around you.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: Begin to visualize that mind's eye version of yourself, the light within it becoming the light within you, grounding yourself into yourself, visualizing your entire body as it sits or lays in place, becoming filled with this light of certainty, of love, and of integration.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: Place them on the ground.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: If you are seated or lying down, you're in a chair, place them onto your lap, palms facing down, and begin to ground this feeling of fulfillment, completion, and integration into your physical body, breathing deeply and consciously, feeling the sensations of trust, love, and support.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: And when you feel complete and grounded back in your body, gently begin to make small movements, wiggling hands and toes, rolling ankles and wrists, and when you feel ready, slowly, gently, purposefully, opening your eyes.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: As with this and all of my meditations or any meditations that you practice, be sure to hydrate, ground yourself back in your body before coming out of the meditation, as we just practiced.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: Take as much time as you need to to come up from laying down, or even just from your seat.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Take as much time as you feel called to take to move into the rest of your day, and bring that feeling of wholeness, completion, integration with you, knowing that what you truly desire also desires you is meant for you, and that you are now walking the path towards it as it walks the same path towards you.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: I'd like to tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you for sharing your space with me and ask that you please feel free, feel free to share the same with your loved ones.
