• 3:51
Speaker 3: All right, so Amy, Angie, Angie.
• 3:53
  Speaker 10: Amy Hello again?
• 3:55
  Speaker 6: Hello Hello.
• 3:56
Speaker 3: Picture posted as always Dave Allen Radio and Facebook at
• 3:59
Speaker 3: Dave A seventy On a the WHS Network Facebook page,
• 4:02
Speaker 3: Angie tell us about the dog named Stripe.
• 4:06
Speaker 11: So Stripe originally was found as a straight dog. They
• 4:11
Speaker 11: the finders, brought him to Kseyha to hope to find
• 4:14
Speaker 11: him a more permanent solution for a you know, forever home.
• 4:19
Speaker 11: He's under a year old. He's like, you know, ten
• 4:22
Speaker 11: months to a year old. Not newted yet, but he
• 4:26
Speaker 11: will be before he leaves the building. And he is
• 4:28
Speaker 11: another golden ticket dog, as I like to say. He's
• 4:31
Speaker 11: good with cats, kids and other dogs.
• 4:34
Speaker 3: He's a beautiful dog. And I was again the pictures posted,
• 4:38
Speaker 3: and I said to Amy earlier when I sent her
• 4:41
Speaker 3: the picture that you sent me, I said, this dog
• 4:44
Speaker 3: looks like every dog in a nineteen thirties movie.
• 4:48
Speaker 11: Literally yeah. And he's got that like kind of crazy
• 4:53
Speaker 11: BedHead type of look too cute, get.
• 4:56
Speaker 6: A little beard. Is adorable.
• 5:00
Speaker 3: He's a good looking dog. And again his pictures posted
• 5:02
Speaker 3: at Dave Allen Radio and Facebook, the Wcnchest network facebook
• 5:05
Speaker 3: page and at Dave eight seventy on X. We'll get
• 5:08
Speaker 3: back to Stripe a little bit later on. Understand you
• 5:10
Speaker 3: folks are going to be out at Optimum and South
• 5:12
Speaker 3: Ridge tomorrow. Good friends with WWKTV thirteen leave helping out
• 5:16
Speaker 3: with that. Talk about that event tomorrow.
• 5:18
Speaker 11: Uh, yes, So we are going to be at the
• 5:20
Speaker 11: Optimum in South Ridge with some adoptable pets tomorrow the
• 5:23
Speaker 11: event last I was updated, is going to be taking
• 5:26
Speaker 11: place inside the store, so you know, nice and air
• 5:29
Speaker 11: conditioned and the safe from the elements of the crazy
• 5:32
Speaker 11: weather we've been having. But Optimum is going to be
• 5:35
Speaker 11: sponsoring some adoption es in order to help get the
• 5:37
Speaker 11: pets a leg up. No pun intended on finding forever home,
• 5:42
Speaker 11: so we're super excited about that. And we also have
• 5:45
Speaker 11: an event to celebrate National Rescue Pet Month at Tractor
• 5:48
Speaker 11: Supply and Bell during the same time. Twelve ins a
• 5:53
Speaker 11: little earlier at Tractor Supply ends.
• 5:55
Speaker 3: At two and these events and now that And I
• 5:59
Speaker 3: ask you this every week, Angie, when we have you on,
• 6:01
Speaker 3: I'll always say where you guys are going to be
• 6:03
Speaker 3: And I know you've got ten thousand things going on
• 6:04
Speaker 3: the shelter. But now that the nicer weathers here, I
• 6:06
Speaker 3: know you guys are going to be out a little
• 6:09
Speaker 3: bit more. And it's it's good. It means a lot
• 6:11
Speaker 3: to get out in the community.
• 6:12
Speaker 11: It absolutely does. Not only do we get to, you know,
• 6:15
Speaker 11: build those bridges with our community, bring pets to the community.
• 6:19
Speaker 11: If you can't make it to the shelter, no worries,
• 6:20
Speaker 11: we will bring it. The shelter to you. But not
• 6:23
Speaker 11: only that. If we have an event we had one
• 6:26
Speaker 11: recently where nothing got adopted, the people that hosted us
• 6:29
Speaker 11: were very discouraged. But it still makes a big difference
• 6:32
Speaker 11: for the animals that get to go to these events.
• 6:34
Speaker 11: It gets them a day out of the shelter. They
• 6:37
Speaker 11: get to you know, be a build you know that
• 6:40
Speaker 11: relationship with like people in the public. They get to
• 6:43
Speaker 11: relax and not be in a kennel for a day.
• 6:45
Speaker 11: So regardless of if anyone gets adopted or actually leaves,
• 6:49
Speaker 11: it's still it's still very, very beneficial for these animals.
• 6:53
Speaker 6: Yes, is there a chance to like adopt a buddy
• 6:57
Speaker 6: for a day where you can take him and play
• 7:01
Speaker 6: or her play and then bring him back.
• 7:05
Speaker 11: Yeah. Absolutely, that is one of our very popular volunteer programs.
• 7:10
Speaker 11: So you can come up to the shelter, you can
• 7:12
Speaker 11: choose a buddy, we can send a buddy with you,
• 7:15
Speaker 11: and you quite literally can borrow or check out the
• 7:18
Speaker 11: dog for the day. We don't do this program with
• 7:21
Speaker 11: our cats, they tend to get a little stress, but dogs, puppies,
• 7:24
Speaker 11: we love this program for them to get out, get
• 7:27
Speaker 11: away from the shelter and then at the end of
• 7:29
Speaker 11: the day, you just bring them back.
• 7:31
  Speaker 6: I love that.
• 7:32
Speaker 3: And the need for fosters is always there too, And
• 7:36
  Speaker 3: I bring this up a lot. I've got a really
• 7:38
Speaker 3: good buddy mine. He and his wife do this on
• 7:40
Speaker 3: a regular basis, And you need fosters just to take
• 7:43
Speaker 3: these critters into their home for just a short amount
• 7:46
  Speaker 3: of time.
• 7:47
Speaker 11: Yeah, there are different, many different types of fostering you
• 7:50
Speaker 11: can do. There's long term, there is short term, and
• 7:52
Speaker 11: there's also just overnight fosters where you quite literally keep
• 7:56
Speaker 11: them for a night and bring them back. But any
• 7:58
Speaker 11: type of fostering trust is going to make the difference
• 8:01
Speaker 11: for number one us as kseyha staff. And also finding
• 8:05
Speaker 11: out how these animals are in a whole environment proven
• 8:10
Speaker 11: to boost their ability to be adopted.
• 8:13
Speaker 6: So perfect, give me all the dogs.
• 8:18
Speaker 3: Hey, careful what you sign up for there? You know
• 8:20
Speaker 3: what you mentioned there. We had a text here, Angie said,
• 8:23
Speaker 3: when you're out and about I guess that this is
• 8:24
Speaker 3: probably the event at optimum. Will it just be dogs
• 8:28
Speaker 3: or are you going to bring some of the cats
• 8:29
Speaker 3: out there to enjoy the fresh air since they really
• 8:31
Speaker 3: never get a chance to get out that often.
• 8:34
Speaker 11: So our adult cats typically did not travel well at
• 8:37
Speaker 11: these types of events, it actually ends up stressing them
• 8:40
Speaker 11: out further than if they were to just stay at
• 8:42
Speaker 11: the shelter. So adult cats typically don't join in on
• 8:46
Speaker 11: these type of events. Kittens, if we have them, they
• 8:49
Speaker 11: get adopted so quickly at the shelter. Kittens I will
• 8:52
Speaker 11: always bring because as you all know, I'm a cat
• 8:54
Speaker 11: lady myself, so if we have kittens, they will definitely
• 8:57
  Speaker 11: be joining us.
• 8:58
Speaker 3: Well, and I understand what you mean by that, because
• 9:00
Speaker 3: you know, I've had dogs in the past, and you know, many,
• 9:03
Speaker 3: not all dogs, but many dogs are like, hey, when
• 9:05
Speaker 3: do we leave, you know, let's go. But cats, and
• 9:08
Speaker 3: I think a lot of it has to do with
• 9:09
Speaker 3: the fact that cats don't travel that often. In my case,
• 9:11
Speaker 3: my cats never leave the house. So they're kind of like, Okay,
• 9:15
Speaker 3: we're getting in the car. That means we're going to
• 9:16
  Speaker 3: the vet.
• 9:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you see the cage coming in their language.
• 9:21
Speaker 3: Yeah no, no, no, Well know one of our cats if
• 9:23
Speaker 3: the cage is out, which we don't leave it out
• 9:25
Speaker 3: on a normal basis, but like when we come back
• 9:28
Speaker 3: or we're going to be taking one, which isn't that
• 9:30
Speaker 3: often to the vet, we leave the cage out. One
• 9:32
Speaker 3: of the cats just crawls in and lays down. But
• 9:34
Speaker 3: then when we get ready to shut the door, that's
• 9:36
Speaker 3: when it is another situation. When that door shuts, then
• 9:40
Speaker 3: that door. What are your current needs up there?
• 9:43
Speaker 12: What do you need?
• 9:43
Speaker 3: It's far other than people to adopt pets. We know
• 9:45
Speaker 3: that that's a given because no, your numbers are really high.
• 9:48
Speaker 3: But what what are you in need of from the folks?
• 9:49
Speaker 3: What can they help out with?
• 9:51
Speaker 11: So any type of cleaning supplies, bleach gloves, paper towels,
• 9:55
Speaker 11: anything of that nature. And then any type of Purina
• 9:58
Speaker 11: chowp dry food product, any brand of wet food product
• 10:03
Speaker 11: for cats or dogs.
• 10:04
  Speaker 6: Any blankets.
• 10:06
Speaker 11: Right now, we are comfortable with the amount of blankets
• 10:09
Speaker 11: we have, but we will always accept donated blankets because
• 10:12
Speaker 11: that can change here an instant. So we will always
• 10:15
Speaker 11: accept gently used linens.
• 10:18
Speaker 3: Another text here, will you have a truck or someone
• 10:20
Speaker 3: there to take donations while you're out at about tomorrow?
• 10:24
Speaker 11: Yes, I's at both locations tomorrow. There will be a
• 10:27
Speaker 11: staff member. I'll be at the optimum event and then
• 10:30
Speaker 11: one of our adoptions counselors, Addie will be at the
• 10:32
Speaker 11: tractor supply event. Both of us can accept donations. We
• 10:37
Speaker 11: can do card cash check however you want to donate.
• 10:40
Speaker 3: All right, Again, they're going to be and what are
• 10:43
Speaker 3: the hours at the place in Bell tomorrow? And what's
• 10:46
Speaker 3: the place again, tractor.
• 10:48
Speaker 11: Supply in Bell? The hours there are going to be
• 10:51
Speaker 11: twelve to two. Optimum Southbridge the hours are going to
• 10:54
Speaker 11: be twelve to four.
• 10:55
Speaker 3: All right, And again Angie, it's always a pleasure to
• 10:58
Speaker 3: have you on the show. And we'll talk to you
• 10:59
Speaker 3: again next week. Thanks a lot.
• 11:01
Speaker 11: Absolutely sounds great. Have a good weekend and.
• 11:03
Speaker 3: G Gillawater Canal Charles new main association with Stripe. This
• 11:06

• 11:16
Speaker 3: is around a year old, good with kids, good with
• 11:19
Speaker 3: cats and with other dogs. She calls it a golden
• 11:22
Speaker 3: ticket dog. So I mean, what more could you want?
• 11:25
Speaker 3: With with the with the trifecta.
• 11:26
Speaker 6: There, adorable and just the perfect size.
• 11:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, and looks like every every every dog in a
• 11:34
  Speaker 3: nineteen thirties movie totally does. I can't, I can't. I
• 11:37
Speaker 3: what I came up with is like I can't get
• 11:39
Speaker 3: that out of my head right now. So let's try
• 11:41
Speaker 3: to get Stripe adopted again. About a year old, perfect
• 11:44
Speaker 3: with cats, perfect with other dogs, perfect with kids. Just

• 16:08
Speaker 3: It's where did you come up when you were working here?
• 16:10
Speaker 3: Where did you come up with the name Amy Rain?
• 16:11
Speaker 3: Or did somebody come up with it for you?
• 16:13
Speaker 6: I came up with it. Rick Johnson actually said pick
• 16:16
Speaker 6: a name that you really like, and I'm like, hmmm,
• 16:18
Speaker 6: I love Rain. I just love Rain.
• 16:19
Speaker 3: I got to hang out with Rick earlier this week.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, the best he is R J's the man.
• 16:24
Speaker 6: Yes, uh so, I just I'm like, what about Amy Rain?
• 16:28
Speaker 3: Kind of flows, right, Amy Rain? Amy Rain is back,
• 16:31
Speaker 3: So you are officially Amy Rain. Okay, all right, Jim,
• 16:34
Speaker 3: Jim Strawn who goes by the name Jim Strawn.
• 16:38
Speaker 2: You can call me James William Dave. It's good to
• 16:39
Speaker 2: see you yet not really, Amy. It's great to see you.
• 16:42
Speaker 2: How are you, Yeah, Dave?
• 16:44
Speaker 10: How are you doing over there?
• 16:44
  Speaker 7: Body?
• 16:45
  Speaker 3: Oh, I'm fine.
• 16:46
  Speaker 10: You look great.
• 16:46
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just pushing buttons and Amy Rain is
• 16:49
Speaker 2: in the house. I'm so tickled. I mean, it's good
• 16:51
Speaker 2: to see you. But Amy Rain is here.
• 16:52
Speaker 3: Amy Rain is here, world renowned voiceover and star, great stage.
• 16:57
Speaker 3: We go way back too, all right.
• 16:58
Speaker 2: I mentioned earlier, you know she was here, but then
• 17:00
Speaker 2: she was parts unknown other stations and we did a
• 17:03
Speaker 2: lot of production together. What yesteryear? That was yester year.
• 17:07
Speaker 2: That was yesteryear decades ago. You know, she looks still
• 17:10
Speaker 2: twenty nine. I've gotten elderly and the older and here
• 17:14
  Speaker 2: we are together.
• 17:15
Speaker 6: Jim's the world traveler.
• 17:16
Speaker 2: Now, yeah, the World Traveler. We'll talk about that another time.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: Live golf is so much fun, but I'm not here
• 17:22
Speaker 2: to talk about Live. I'm here to talk about Live Live.
• 17:26
Speaker 2: I see what you did the season twenty two, week
• 17:29
Speaker 2: number two of the Moses Outer Group Live on the Levee.
• 17:32
Speaker 2: You guys have been talking about it. Most folks are
• 17:35
Speaker 2: talking about it. We're all ready to get outside into
• 17:38
Speaker 2: this picture perfect idyllic weather tonight with low humidity about
• 17:43
Speaker 2: eighty degrees. The sun will be out. I think that
• 17:45
Speaker 2: sky is going to be amazingly blue, the breeze off
• 17:49
Speaker 2: of the Great Kanawa. And then you mix in the
• 17:52
Speaker 2: food and the spirited beverages, and then all of a sudden,
• 17:56
Speaker 2: a party breaks out on the Showme Bomb stage and
• 17:59
Speaker 2: its float like a butterfly. At six thirty six piece
• 18:03
Speaker 2: band out of Denver, Colorado, and they blend a lot
• 18:08
Speaker 2: of kind of rock and reggae and funk and soul,
• 18:13
Speaker 2: and there they have a lot of horns as well.
• 18:15
Speaker 2: The stage night's going to be full of horns and
• 18:18
Speaker 2: they're going to play for an hour or take a
• 18:20
Speaker 2: little break. Thank our sponsors. Let you get a bite
• 18:22
Speaker 2: to eat and a beverage of your choice, and then
• 18:25
Speaker 2: at eight o'clock it's fun to say. It's fun to say,
• 18:28
Speaker 2: Dave the Rumble with Big Chief Joseph Boudreau Junior and
• 18:34
Speaker 2: he is, and I'm going to read it so I
• 18:36
Speaker 2: don't miss it out. I'm putting my glasses on Chief,
• 18:39
Speaker 2: and I just lost it. I just like that, You
• 18:42
Speaker 2: just lose it, just like that.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: I can't go wrong with Jim, you know what. They
• 18:47
Speaker 3: make fun of me in this company, But you can't
• 18:50
Speaker 3: go wrong with paper.
• 18:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, paper, write this down. A Chief Boo Dreau
• 19:01
Speaker 2: Junior is a renowned musician and leader of the black
• 19:04
Speaker 2: Masking Indian community in New Orleans. He really blends the
• 19:08
Speaker 2: old school Indian New Orleans town with the new age
• 19:11
Speaker 2: and even some futuristic things. And he dresses like an
• 19:14
Speaker 2: Indian chief. So it's big boas and big feathers, and
• 19:19
Speaker 2: he's going to be on that stage tonight and he's
• 19:21
Speaker 2: got all his band members around him, and it just
• 19:24
Speaker 2: sounds so New Orleans and so Indians. And Mamie we
• 19:26
Speaker 2: were talking off air of the drums will be like
• 19:28
Speaker 2: a little a drum circle and it's going to be
• 19:31
Speaker 2: a spectacular show. The music will be great, and again
• 19:34
Speaker 2: the weather. So I think, you know, I keep track
• 19:37
Speaker 2: of big big nights down there, and I you know,
• 19:39
Speaker 2: and I don't use the word epic often, and I'm
• 19:42
Speaker 2: not saying this is going to be epic. I'm just
• 19:45
Speaker 2: saying it has all the elements and the stars are aligned.
• 19:48
Speaker 2: We're all ready to get outside. You know you mentioned
• 19:50
Speaker 2: last week we couldn't get outside. We went inside edition
• 19:53
Speaker 2: and and we're grateful for the Convention Center and the
• 19:56
Speaker 2: city turned on a dime and we did that and
• 19:59
Speaker 2: Alana was great and Adam Parker was great. It was
• 20:02
Speaker 2: just indoors and it's just it's fine, and that's what
• 20:05
Speaker 2: it is. But this Live and Levee is meant to be.
• 20:07
Speaker 2: It had Edarver Front Park outside, and tonight has all
• 20:11
Speaker 2: the elements for a big, big, big fun night as
• 20:14
Speaker 2: we all come down and celebrate Charleston what we have
• 20:17
Speaker 2: to offer. And I know you're going to talk to
• 20:18
Speaker 2: Zach in a minute. This is also a festival evening,
• 20:21
Speaker 2: so they're going to be down. This is in Couhertz
• 20:24
Speaker 2: and in collaboration with Fest of All. So not only
• 20:28
Speaker 2: do you know we have Festival and the Levee and Moses,
• 20:31
Speaker 2: but it's just takes such a village to put this
• 20:33
Speaker 2: thing together. We had another record year with sponsorships and
• 20:37
Speaker 2: partners I just want to thank a few some of
• 20:40
Speaker 2: the majors. Brewer and Company been with us all twenty
• 20:42
Speaker 2: two years. The only company that's done that, Moses has
• 20:45
Speaker 2: been around for nineteen now. Paradign Corporation, Canarlestone, Lou Wendell Marine,
• 20:50
Speaker 2: my good friend Mike and his dad, Lou, the health
• 20:52
Speaker 2: plan back again, knew this year, loved Ones out of
• 20:56
Speaker 2: South Charleston, Poka Valley, and my company's proud to so
• 21:00
Speaker 2: for this as well. But folks, honestly, truthfully, if you
• 21:04
Speaker 2: have an opportunity to make it tonight, I would come down.
• 21:08
Speaker 2: My mother eighty nine in September is going to walk
• 21:11
Speaker 2: down tonight. This is the perfect weather. She can sit
• 21:14
Speaker 2: it far enough away where sometimes the music doesn't bother her,
• 21:17
Speaker 2: and she comes down.
• 21:18
Speaker 10: As I like to tell people, Amy, and you'll appreciate this.
• 21:21
Speaker 10: My mom comes down to hear me talk. She will
• 21:24
Speaker 10: stop to hear you talk.
• 21:26
  Speaker 7: Fright.
• 21:26
Speaker 2: We love moms, don't we Yes, So if my mom
• 21:29
Speaker 2: can make it down, you can make it down as well.
• 21:32
Speaker 2: The rumble, Big Chief Joseph Boudreau Junior at a float
• 21:37
Speaker 2: like a butterfly at six thirty.
• 21:40
Speaker 10: Great fun. You want me to stop anytime.
• 21:43
Speaker 2: May you just keep going on great fun for a
• 21:46
Speaker 2: great cause. That's been our tagline for twenty two years.
• 21:48
Speaker 2: We help those five Inner City of Charleston charities, help
• 21:53
Speaker 2: people maybe get a bite to eat in a place
• 21:55
Speaker 2: to lay their head at night. We help RCCR, Kate
• 21:58
Speaker 2: VC the Sojier in her shelter of the YW the
• 22:01
Speaker 2: Covenant House, and tonight the charity is going to be
• 22:05
Speaker 2: man a Meal, we do a fifty to fifty drawing.
• 22:08
Speaker 2: We'll do that drawing at nine thirty. The schedule is
• 22:10
Speaker 2: a little different because the Rumble was going to play
• 22:12
Speaker 2: from eight to nine thirty, and then we'll do the drawing.
• 22:15
Speaker 2: The previous twenty one seasons with Live on the Levee,
• 22:18
Speaker 2: we have raised because you guys are so kind and
• 22:20
Speaker 2: so generous with your fifty to fifty donations to get
• 22:24
Speaker 2: that fifty to fifty ticket, we have raised approximately one
• 22:28
Speaker 2: hundred and thirty thousand dollars for these charities and I
• 22:31
Speaker 2: couldn't be more proud of that and thank this community
• 22:34
Speaker 2: as always for their kindness and generosity, and they always
• 22:38
  Speaker 2: step up.
• 22:39
Speaker 3: So all the elements are there. Dave, what did I
• 22:42
Speaker 3: leave out? I don't think you left out anything. It's
• 22:44
Speaker 3: going to be a great summer. I'm kind of getting
• 22:46
Speaker 3: back more to the original format we are.
• 22:49
Speaker 2: And it's going to be thank you, thank you for noticing.
• 22:52
Speaker 2: But we are going to be there every Friday. They're
• 22:55
Speaker 2: not a Thursday night, which we tried last year. We
• 22:58
Speaker 2: tried to do some claud operations that maybe, oh gosh,
• 23:02
Speaker 2: I don't know if we thought that was gonna be
• 23:03
Speaker 2: a good idea. But where every Friday, uh, except for
• 23:08
  Speaker 2: the regatta, but there's a there's there's a show on
• 23:10
Speaker 2: Friday night during the regatta as well, but every Friday
• 23:13
Speaker 2: all the way through July the thirty first, So that'll
• 23:16
Speaker 2: be eleven straight Fridays.
• 23:17
Speaker 10: We'll start the music at six thirty.
• 23:19
Speaker 2: It's gonna be a fan fabulous summer if we can
• 23:22
Speaker 2: get a weather like tonight for the next twelve for
• 23:26
Speaker 2: I'll just kiss Ran right on the right on the forehead.
• 23:29
Speaker 10: I just like Brian, I love you man, you're the best.
• 23:31
Speaker 2: But the music and it's gonna be great, but the
• 23:33
Speaker 2: weather's gonna be off the hook tonight, I think.
• 23:35
Speaker 3: And Amy, I don't know whether you saw the entire lineup.
• 23:37
Speaker 3: I know you and your husband just got into town.
• 23:39

• 28:43
Speaker 3: like how I brought back the old school?
• 28:45
  Speaker 12: I do?
• 28:45
Speaker 3: I like old school, Amy Rain. All right, since you
• 28:48
Speaker 3: were here, since you were here last, I have an
• 28:51
Speaker 3: official house band of the day Valence Show, Amos Steele. Yeah.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: Those guys are fantastic. They can rocket and they're gonna
• 29:00
Speaker 3: be playing a gig in Hontingtet. I think it is
• 29:02
Speaker 3: next week. Doodle Hackworth of the band sent me uh
• 29:06
Speaker 3: the info and uh, well, the better name is Tony
• 29:09
Speaker 3: the Taylor because Tony the Taylor is like the Colonel
• 29:11
Speaker 3: Tom Parker of the of the Amous Steel Band. But
• 29:14
Speaker 3: they're gonna be playing Honeys next week. I'll get more
• 29:16
Speaker 3: information out to the people about that. Zach Harrold joins
• 29:19
Speaker 3: us right now, festival. How you doing man, Welcome to
• 29:21
Speaker 3: the show. Well hold on to switch microphones off phone,
• 29:24
Speaker 3: hold on while we're over there.
• 29:25
Speaker 7: Just try that testing one.
• 29:27
Speaker 3: But luck it works, it works.
• 29:30
  Speaker 7: Doing great, busy.
• 29:32
Speaker 3: Okay, you do that we've been having issues with that
• 29:34
Speaker 3: microphone and you just sat down there and apparently you
• 29:37
Speaker 3: got the magic touch. Look at that, Ryan, he just
• 29:39
Speaker 3: he knows the stuff. Zach Harold from Festival is here man.
• 29:42
Speaker 3: We were talking to Jim Strawn during the last segment.
• 29:45
Speaker 3: Uh uh, the weather's going to be fantastic to night
• 29:47
Speaker 3: for Live on the Levee and uh you know this.
• 29:49
Speaker 3: You know you guys are part of that or they're
• 29:51
Speaker 3: part of you, you know, for tonight. Okay, so it's
• 29:55
Speaker 3: a great weather. Uh heading into the weekend. To wrap
• 29:57
Speaker 3: it up, first of.
• 29:57
Speaker 13: All, I'm a great band down there this week. Yeah uh,
• 30:01
Speaker 13: And we've got the Capitol Street Art fair happening on
• 30:04
Speaker 13: Saturday and Sunday, and great weather looking like for both
• 30:08
Speaker 13: of those two taking over two blocks of excuse me,
• 30:11
Speaker 13: two blocks of Capitol Street with like seventy vendors on
• 30:15
Speaker 13: the two hundred block there in front of Taylor's and
• 30:18
Speaker 13: all kinds of free activities for kids on the one
• 30:20
Speaker 13: hundred block there in front of the library.
• 30:23
Speaker 7: It's gonna be a good week.
• 30:24
Speaker 3: So let's talk about the week that was. The week
• 30:28
Speaker 3: that was with because i mean the weather, you know,
• 30:30
Speaker 3: caused a lot of issues, you know, I mean for
• 30:33
Speaker 3: everybody and for everything we mentioned live on the levee
• 30:35
Speaker 3: had to be moved indoors. And but you know, there's
• 30:37
Speaker 3: nothing nothing you can do about the weather, well but
• 30:40
Speaker 3: work around it. And you guys have had had to
• 30:41
Speaker 3: work around it on some things. But it's looking good now.
• 30:44
Speaker 3: Talk about what how much effecting on this.
• 30:46
Speaker 13: Book was that Jogu Barrett said, everybody talks about the weather,
• 30:48
Speaker 13: but nobody does he does anything about it. We had
• 30:51
Speaker 13: to make a last minute pivot on our festiv All
• 30:53
Speaker 13: family cookout, but ended up at the Capital Market thanks
• 30:56
Speaker 13: to those guys over there, and it was great, Like
• 30:59
Speaker 13: we we're already talking like maybe we should just do it.
• 31:02
Speaker 7: Here next year. And uh our Carriage Trail.
• 31:05
Speaker 13: We thought about calling that off last Sunday, but the
• 31:08
Speaker 13: storms blew through and blew out and then we had a.
• 31:11
Speaker 6: I was there. That was fun.
• 31:13
Speaker 7: I say that because I come up with that idea.
• 31:16
Speaker 13: But yeah, different musicians, what was your favorite?
• 31:21
Speaker 6: Oh, the band that was under the Rock? I love
• 31:25
Speaker 6: the swing Oh Minor Swinging.
• 31:27
  Speaker 7: They are amazing.
• 31:28
Speaker 13: Yeah, that's also one of my favorite places on the
• 31:31
Speaker 13: trail to put people.
• 31:32
Speaker 7: They come out back in that little case.
• 31:33
  Speaker 6: It's a little acoustics, right.
• 31:35
  Speaker 7: Yes, exactly.
• 31:36
Speaker 3: So let's go over everything for the weekend. Yeah, I
• 31:38
Speaker 3: mean you mentioned some of it. Let's do the entire schedule.
• 31:40
Speaker 13: We've got tonight, we've got live on the Levy of course,
• 31:43
Speaker 13: and then tomorrow we have our Capitol Street Art Fair.
• 31:46
  Speaker 3: When I'm a backup, don't don't you have a square
• 31:48
  Speaker 3: dancing here?
• 31:49
Speaker 7: We oh, yeah, you're right.
• 31:50
Speaker 13: Tonight we have square dancing with foot Man. Thanks for
• 31:53
Speaker 13: minding me. Yeah, that's where it can all presby. Yeah,
• 31:56
Speaker 13: they do those pretty regularly, but this is a special
• 31:59
Speaker 13: festival audition and they're going to have live music from
• 32:01
Speaker 13: the Kessinger Brothers world champion flat picking guitarist Robin Kessinger,
• 32:06
Speaker 13: kind of a local legend. He's going to be playing
• 32:09
Speaker 13: guitar there with his brother who play mandolin, and then
• 32:12
  Speaker 13: they've got a caller there, so that'll be a that's
• 32:17
Speaker 13: it within walking distance from the levee. So if you
• 32:19
Speaker 13: want to get some square dance action in at kenof
• 32:23
Speaker 13: Presbyterian and then walk down to the levee and enjoy
• 32:25
Speaker 13: some New Orleans funk music, you'd have a very eclectic mind.
• 32:29
Speaker 3: As they said, something for everybody. All right, let's go
• 32:32
Speaker 3: down the list of activities for tomorrow.
• 32:33
Speaker 13: On Sunday, Saturday, we have our Capitol Street Art Fair
• 32:38
Speaker 13: happening at kicking off at ten, and we've got all
• 32:43
Speaker 13: those vendors. We've got live bands on the stage there
• 32:46
Speaker 13: all day long. We have on like I said, on
• 32:49
Speaker 13: one hundred block, we have our Children's Art Fair, which
• 32:51
Speaker 13: will have a dozen different local organizations with free activities
• 32:55
Speaker 13: for kids. We have a stage over there as well
• 32:57
Speaker 13: with kids entertainment. Same thing on Sunday. We also have
• 33:02
Speaker 13: Festive Viola on Sunday at the Women's Club of Charleston,
• 33:06
Speaker 13: a celebration of the viola, and that goes to benefit
• 33:10
Speaker 13: the West Virginia Youth Symphony. The Canall Valley Community Band
• 33:15
  Speaker 13: has a concert with a Latin name that I can't
• 33:18
Speaker 13: and won't pronounce on air.
• 33:21
Speaker 7: I'm not gonna try it.
• 33:22
  Speaker 3: But they're amazing.
• 33:24
Speaker 7: They kicked us off at Memorial Day and it was magic.
• 33:28
Speaker 7: They are so good.
• 33:29
Speaker 13: And what's cool about that one that that concert is
• 33:31
Speaker 13: at christ Church United Methodists and this piece uses the
• 33:36
Speaker 13: new pipe organ that they installed over there, and the
• 33:39
Speaker 13: instruments are kind of like the members of the choir
• 33:42
Speaker 13: being backed up by this giant pipe organ and I've
• 33:45
Speaker 13: heard from a few of those guys. I guess they
• 33:47
Speaker 13: ran through it and apparently that thing just shakes the walls.
• 33:52
Speaker 13: That's going to be a great time. And then we
• 33:54
Speaker 13: of course have our river cruises, but those are all
• 33:56
Speaker 13: sold out, though I did want to mention, though I
• 33:59
Speaker 13: didn't want to mention BB Riverboats, who brought the River
• 34:02
Speaker 13: Queen up here for us. They have daily sight sand
• 34:05
Speaker 13: cruises outside of what festival is doing. So at like
• 34:09
Speaker 13: twelve two and four, you can just walk straight down
• 34:11
Speaker 13: there and buy your ticket and take an hour and
• 34:14
  Speaker 13: a half cruise.
• 34:15
Speaker 7: Up and down the canal on that really cool old riverboat.
• 34:19
Speaker 3: Cool and I mean it's just going down. You mentioned
• 34:25
Speaker 3: the sunset yoga. Did you mention the Youga sunset yoga?
• 34:28
Speaker 13: Yeah, we have sunset yoga down there and had had.
• 34:30
Speaker 13: We began our schedule with sunrise yoga and we ended
• 34:34
Speaker 13: with sunset yoga. The folks at the Folded Leaf do
• 34:36
Speaker 13: such a great job, had a great turnout for that
• 34:38
Speaker 13: first one and probably equally and they're doing a sound bath,
• 34:42
Speaker 13: which is where they know they kind of have gongs
• 34:45
Speaker 13: and fowls and stuff.
• 34:46
Speaker 7: It's just this real soothing atmosphere. It'll be a good
• 34:49
Speaker 7: way to to for us to calm down after a
• 34:52
  Speaker 7: week of excitement.
• 34:54
Speaker 6: And the used book sale is that tomorrow too.
• 34:56
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 34:56
Speaker 13: The ca All, I mean the Canal Library has all
• 34:59
Speaker 13: that stuff going on. And on the fourth floor of
• 35:02
Speaker 13: the Canall Library, we have our Art for All Art show,
• 35:05
Speaker 13: which features art from elementary schoolers from Canall and all
• 35:09
Speaker 13: the surrounding counties. Tomorrow at two we're going to have
• 35:12
Speaker 13: an awards ceremony and we're going to give awards to
• 35:15
Speaker 13: the best in show for each grade level and then
• 35:17
Speaker 13: a People's Choice award. So if you haven't gotten over
• 35:20
Speaker 13: there to vote yet, now's your chance to vote for
• 35:23
  Speaker 13: the People's choice.
• 35:24
Speaker 3: And you've got something. And this is not necessarily related
• 35:27
Speaker 3: to festival, but kind of goes along with the whole vibe.
• 35:29
Speaker 3: You get a friend, it's doing something over Taylor Books
• 35:31
Speaker 3: tomorrow and I'll give a chance to plug that amy.
• 35:33
Speaker 6: Yeah. My friend Terry Binyon, she's lived in Orlando for
• 35:37
Speaker 6: forty years and she has family here in West Virginia St.
• 35:40
Speaker 6: Albans and decided to move here and has been here
• 35:43
Speaker 6: for a year now. Loves it and is now becoming
• 35:45
Speaker 6: a big part of the music scene here. So she's
• 35:48
Speaker 6: going to be at Tailor's tonight at seven thirty.
• 35:50
Speaker 3: Okay, cool, I have to check that out. I mean,
• 35:52
Speaker 3: it's like you're gonna have tied to check anything out.
• 35:54
Speaker 13: Dude, Come on, well, let me think, let me think
• 35:57
Speaker 13: what I got going on tonight.
• 35:58
Speaker 7: Yeah, you're right now, I would love to hear though.
• 36:02
Speaker 13: We also something else I forgot to mention was Taylor's
• 36:05
Speaker 13: tomorrow we have poems while you wait. West Virginia poet
• 36:09
Speaker 13: Mark Harshman's a show and another poet there with him
• 36:12
Speaker 13: are going to have vintage mechanical manual typewriters and you
• 36:17
Speaker 13: go up, slip them a fiver and they'll bang out
• 36:20
Speaker 13: a poem. It's part of the entertainment is watching them
• 36:24
Speaker 13: fight with the typewriter. It's they're not easy machines to
• 36:31
Speaker 13: work with, and I think it adds to the creative
• 36:33
  Speaker 13: process somehow.
• 36:34
Speaker 3: Renee Nicholson was who that was in relation to Ukraine.
• 36:37
Speaker 3: You're different, different bunch of Nicholsons. And my producer and
• 36:41
Speaker 3: I know what you mean about the typewriter thing, because
• 36:44
Speaker 3: we were having this discussion not long ago, Mada Baron,
• 36:46
Speaker 3: my co host and ire at ten years apart in age,
• 36:48
Speaker 3: we were talking about learning to type at school. And
• 36:50
Speaker 3: I'm old enough to remember that when we learned to type,
• 36:53
Speaker 3: we actually typed on manual typewriters. They were not electric
• 36:57
Speaker 3: or not connected anything. Furthermore, they did not have the
• 37:01
Speaker 3: letters on the keys, so and that was to teach
• 37:05
Speaker 3: you to touch. That was the we had all these
• 37:07
Speaker 3: desks was General Bidget business in ninth grade to put
• 37:10
Speaker 3: these typewriters in front of us, and all of the
• 37:13
Speaker 3: stickers with the letters had been removed, so you had
• 37:16
Speaker 3: to learn the letters.
• 37:18
Speaker 7: I bet you can.
• 37:20
Speaker 3: I can not accurately, but looks like it looks like
• 37:23
Speaker 3: a ransom note when I get done with it.
• 37:25
Speaker 12: But I do have that.
• 37:26
Speaker 3: I do have that, Billy.
• 37:28
  Speaker 7: Lucky I did.
• 37:29
Speaker 13: I was able to learn on a pretty rudimentary like
• 37:31
  Speaker 13: early computer.
• 37:32
Speaker 7: To type it in school. But man, that came in
• 37:34
Speaker 7: handy well in the in the journalism days when you're
• 37:37
  Speaker 7: trying to take.
• 37:38
Speaker 3: Exactly exactly And somebody asked about the book sale. This
• 37:42
Speaker 3: is at the library, right, okay, not to be confused
• 37:44
Speaker 3: with the one that happens every we're at the Civic Center.
• 37:46
Speaker 13: This is this at the summer one at the library
• 37:49
Speaker 13: and get it on. Get it Saturday because the library
• 37:53
  Speaker 13: will be closed.
• 37:54
Speaker 3: And somebody asked about the concerts live on the levee
• 37:56
Speaker 3: being streamed. That's generally speaking not a thing simply because
• 38:00
Speaker 3: of copyright issues. That's what I've been told in the past.
• 38:03
Speaker 3: It'd be nice if you could stream, you know, regattas
• 38:06
Speaker 3: and things like that, and not saying that people don't
• 38:08
Speaker 3: do it with their phone, but legally, legally you cannot
• 38:12
Speaker 3: stream like live on the lay and things like that
• 38:14
Speaker 3: because somebody has got to pay the fees, you know,
• 38:18
Speaker 3: to do that. So and it's and it's not cheap,
• 38:21
Speaker 3: and it's absolutely Now. Look, if you put something on
• 38:24
Speaker 3: social media, that's up to you, but then you've always
• 38:27
Speaker 3: got to put that disclaimer. I do not own the
• 38:29
Speaker 3: rights of this music too, because made it will come
• 38:31
  Speaker 3: after you.
• 38:32
Speaker 7: They'll just take you down.
• 38:33
Speaker 3: Yeah. I get years ago at another radio station, a
• 38:38
Speaker 3: totally unrelated anything, but I was doing mornings at a
• 38:41
Speaker 3: radio station and we Facebook live first became a thing.
• 38:45
Speaker 3: Turned on the phone with about forty five seconds left
• 38:49
Speaker 3: in the song and we hadn't turned on the microphone
• 38:51
Speaker 3: yet we were getting ready to announce a Big Contest
• 38:53
Speaker 3: winner and we played forty five minutes forty five seconds
• 38:56
Speaker 3: or so of the end of a Boston song. That's
• 38:59
Speaker 3: all it. Facebook jumped right in. They jumped right in
• 39:02
Speaker 3: and said that is copyright infringement. You cannot do that,
• 39:05
Speaker 3: and we got a twenty four hour suspension for do
• 39:09
Speaker 3: So what we have to do now is you're very
• 39:11
Speaker 3: limited on what you put up and then you always
• 39:13
Speaker 3: have that. I'm just telling this to average people. If
• 39:15
Speaker 3: you put something up like that and letting now if
• 39:17
Speaker 3: it comes. If you share something from YouTube, that's different.
• 39:19
Speaker 3: They've paid the fees. But if you're putting something on
• 39:21
Speaker 3: the streaming on your personal you need to put on there.
• 39:24
Speaker 3: I do not own the rights of this music, because
• 39:26
Speaker 3: they will come after you. Get you all right, fest of.
• 39:29

Speaker 13: We do daily today at festival posts, which will give
• 39:38
Speaker 13: you the rundown of everything that's happening, when and where.
• 39:40
Speaker 3: All Right, you've done a great job and this is
• 39:42
Speaker 3: your first one, right, first big when when last year?
• 39:47
Speaker 13: But this is the first main festival and it's I mean,
• 39:49
Speaker 13: it's just people have come out and supported it so much.
• 39:51
Speaker 13: It's it's so heartwarming to see the amount of support.
• 39:55
Speaker 13: That's just that this organization gets from just people in town.
• 40:00
Speaker 7: We had last night we were doing these series of
• 40:03
  Speaker 7: festival river cruises.
• 40:04
Speaker 13: And have you heard Karemo the salsa band here now,
• 40:08
Speaker 13: they're amazing. We put them on the River Queen with
• 40:11
Speaker 13: the Charleston Salsa Club, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary
• 40:15
Speaker 13: this year, and two and a half hours up and
• 40:18
Speaker 13: down the river and those people never stopped dancing from
• 40:21
Speaker 13: the time we left the dock till the time.
• 40:23
Speaker 7: We got nice. It was amazing.
• 40:25
Speaker 13: And we've got I don't want to rub it in
• 40:27
Speaker 13: because they're sold out. We got two cruises with Bob
• 40:30
Speaker 13: Thompson on Saturday. We've got a Murder Mystery with Mariah
• 40:34
Speaker 13: Plant and original Murder Mystery production happened on Sunday night.
• 40:38
Speaker 13: It's just that's been such an amazing addition to this festival,
• 40:43
Speaker 13: and hopefully we can get back next year and hopefully
• 40:45
Speaker 13: we can open up more cruises that people can.
• 40:48
Speaker 3: Engine say, Carol, appreciate you being here. Man, Thanks love
• 40:51
Speaker 3: for having good job on everything. It's twelve minutes away

Speaker 3: what skills this is? According to text? What skills or
• 45:41
Speaker 3: requirements are needed for someone to become a voiceover talent?
• 45:44
Speaker 3: How did you get chosen this type of work? And

Speaker 3: is a degree required for it? Also? Any chance will

Speaker 3: hear you in a Disney or Pixar type film in
• 45:52
Speaker 3: the future? I wish I will start with skills and requirements.
• 45:56
Speaker 6: Okay, so skills requirements, being able to analyze copy, so
• 46:01
Speaker 6: it's commercials thirty sixty or corporate narrations. Corporate narrations are
• 46:08
Speaker 6: huge in this industry right now. E learning is big.
• 46:11
Speaker 6: Knowing how to perform those I tell my students because
• 46:18
Speaker 6: I also teach voiceover that you need. It's like singing
• 46:21
Speaker 6: a song. You learn all of the elements and singing
• 46:24
Speaker 6: a song. Same thing with maybe a warm hospital read

• 47:04
Speaker 3: political Oh? Yes, okay, because now I'm kind of what's
• 47:08
Speaker 3: developed over the last ten to fifteen years, and not
• 47:10
Speaker 3: only radio but also television and online as well, has
• 47:13
Speaker 3: been you know, these almost demonic sounding I'm gonna use
• 47:18
Speaker 3: Ryan for an example. Okay, So it's like, Ryan Nicholson,
• 47:22
Speaker 3: is this who you want to further the blank agenda whatever?
• 47:26
Speaker 3: You know that or that sort of thing.
• 47:27
Speaker 6: Yes, and see with that, you need to come down
• 47:29
Speaker 6: just a little more. You be a little more angry
• 47:32
  Speaker 6: about it.
• 47:32
Speaker 3: You tried to work with me on air before, and
• 47:35
Speaker 3: I need a lot of work, you know, because I've
• 47:37
Speaker 3: been thirty eight years in this business, but I've never
• 47:40
  Speaker 3: done what you.
• 47:41
Speaker 6: Do, you know, kay, because you're still the announcer. And
• 47:43
Speaker 6: that's the thing with Oh that's the other thing with voiceover.
• 47:47
Speaker 6: The big announcer sound has gone. It's just chatty conversational okay.
• 47:51
Speaker 3: Mainly see, I grew up being a fan of and
• 47:55
Speaker 3: I got in on the very end of the Boss Radio,
• 47:58
Speaker 3: and Boss does not mean Bruce spring Buss is the
• 48:01
  Speaker 3: big guy.
• 48:02
Speaker 12: Have it talks like this.
• 48:02
Speaker 3: We got ten in to row coming up right here.
• 48:04
  Speaker 6: I missed that.
• 48:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, really between that and the atract your poll commercials
• 48:09
Speaker 3: tonight tonight tonight, and I've done a lot of those,
• 48:10
Speaker 3: and if I do anymore then I won't be able
• 48:12
Speaker 3: to speak for the rest of the day. But things
• 48:14
Speaker 3: are about, you know, just being chatty.
• 48:17
  Speaker 1: Now.
• 48:17
Speaker 6: Yeah, it made a shift around ten fifteen years ago
• 48:21
Speaker 6: and just started. Everything is just conversational, non announcery.
• 48:25
Speaker 3: All right, I'm going to bring up a couple of
• 48:27
Speaker 3: letters to you that are probably going to anger you,
• 48:32
Speaker 3: not not anger you, but the last time you were here, No,
• 48:34
Speaker 3: the last time you were here, somebody texted the show
• 48:37
Speaker 3: and ask about are you and those who do what
• 48:40
Speaker 3: you do for letting concerned about AI. It's it is
• 48:44
Speaker 3: hard to believe how much it's taken off since then.
• 48:48
Speaker 3: I don't remember exactly when you were on the show.
• 48:49
Speaker 3: It was one time. It's like last fall or something.
• 48:51
Speaker 3: The last time you were on, I mean even since then. So,
• 48:56
Speaker 3: just like with any other new technology, you learned to
• 48:58
Speaker 3: work with it to a certain extent. So you're just
• 49:01
  Speaker 3: your take.
• 49:02
Speaker 6: Go ahead exactly. I have done one job where my
• 49:08
Speaker 6: voice has been used ethically for AI. I signed a
• 49:12
Speaker 6: contract whole deal. But yes, I'm trying to work with it.
• 49:17
Speaker 6: But also I'm also pushing for the hashtag higher human
• 49:24
Speaker 6: because you cannot direct a robot. So most of the
• 49:30
Speaker 6: voiceover jobs that I do are via session online and
• 49:35
Speaker 6: or sometimes in person, but more online, and I'm directed
• 49:40
Speaker 6: to say, no, let's warm this up, let's change the
• 49:42
Speaker 6: inflection on this word. You can't do that with a robot,
• 49:45
Speaker 6: and it costs more money to continue to hire the
• 49:48
Speaker 6: AI to get exactly what you want. I'm sure I
• 49:52
Speaker 6: hate saying this, that it's probably going to continue getting better,
• 49:55
Speaker 6: but still there's nothing like human emotion.
• 50:01
Speaker 3: And that's one of the knocks on AI is that
• 50:04
Speaker 3: when it comes to I'm talking about for vocalization purposes,
• 50:07
Speaker 3: is that it and again, like everything else, it may
• 50:10
Speaker 3: get there at some point and if it does, then
• 50:12
Speaker 3: it's probably gonna kill us all but but but but
• 50:15
Speaker 3: I'm more concerned about that that it doesn't. It just
• 50:18
Speaker 3: cannot offer you at this point the emotion that you
• 50:21
Speaker 3: can put in things like you know, sad sound or
• 50:25
  Speaker 3: happy sound like.
• 50:26
  Speaker 7: You did earlier.
• 50:26
Speaker 3: But it's not the same. It's just not the same
• 50:28
Speaker 3: as a human and you can and you can tell it.
• 50:29
Speaker 6: You can tell Thank goodness.
• 50:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, I are you? Uh, I know your your schedule
