- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky and Baldy as
- 0:11Speaker 1: we get a chance to talk about incredible weekend of football. Man,
- 0:13Speaker 1: there are some great games, unbelievable college game which we'll
- 0:16Speaker 1: hit on tomorrow when HTT comes back to join the
- 0:18Speaker 1: show with Indiana Ohio State.
- 0:21Speaker 2: We'll have some fun with that.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But NFL wise, Baldy, this might be my favorite week
- 0:25Speaker 1: of the year in terms of the action we had.
- 0:27Speaker 2: It's unreal.
- 0:28Speaker 3: It's I mean, these games went down to the wire.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I mean I was in Baltimore that happened there. We
- 0:32Speaker 3: watched Chicago Green Bays go down in the wire, Kansas City, Houston.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I mean it was really and it was you know
- 0:38Speaker 3: for playoff seeding. To think that Chicago could start the
- 0:41Speaker 3: day off as the number one seed in the NFC
- 0:45Speaker 3: lose the game to Green Bay by I mean just
- 0:48Speaker 3: a couple of different plays, maybe one pass and finish
- 0:52Speaker 3: the seventh seed right now.
- 0:54Speaker 2: It just goes to show you, like, there's so much
- 0:56Speaker 2: more football to be played.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it comes at you fast, by the way, Buck,
- 0:59Speaker 1: if you if you're wondering looking at Baldi's gear. Here,
- 1:02Speaker 1: we've got Baldi Breakdown Polo. We've got a Baldi Breakdown hat, Baldy,
- 1:06Speaker 1: this is merch. Where can the folks find it? Where
- 1:08Speaker 1: can they find it?
- 1:08Speaker 3: They can just go to baldis breakdowns dot com and
- 1:11Speaker 3: they can order away my buddy down in uh Monroe, Louisia.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Hey, we used to call it when I went to
- 1:19Speaker 2: college there, bald we called it fun there go. That
- 1:24Speaker 2: was the spot.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Hey, Buck, I've got a list of these games that
- 1:27Speaker 1: I want to get to, and there's a list of
- 1:29Speaker 1: games I have in order here. But I'm gonna I'm
- 1:32Speaker 1: gonna make an executive decision here because I feel like
- 1:35Speaker 1: I think your Jags might be the most untold story
- 1:38Speaker 1: in the NFL right now. I think people will be
- 1:40Speaker 1: surprised to look up and see where they are. They've
- 1:42Speaker 1: kind of sneakily just kind of worked their way all
- 1:45Speaker 1: the way up to the top of that division and
- 1:46Speaker 1: to the point where like they're they're still alive for
- 1:49Speaker 1: the number one seed. That's where they are right now.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I have to tell you, DJ, It's one of
- 1:54Speaker 4: the more remarkable things to watch and witness, like a
- 1:58Speaker 4: team kind of getting better in your own eyes.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Like I say this.
- 2:02Speaker 4: Coaching high school ball, like you see players developed, you
- 2:05Speaker 4: see the team come and you see the connectivity. But man,
- 2:08Speaker 4: the job that Liam Cohen has done in terms of
- 2:11Speaker 4: rebuilding the freight relationships that existed prior to his arrival,
- 2:15Speaker 4: in terms of some of the lack of confidence, some
- 2:18Speaker 4: of the distrust that players may have had with the
- 2:21Speaker 4: previous coaching staff or whatever, navigating that, dealing with a
- 2:25Speaker 4: quarterback that was trying to find his way forth different system,
- 2:29Speaker 4: trying to figure out who's who and what's what, and
- 2:32Speaker 4: then getting the team to understand what it's like to
- 2:35Speaker 4: go from being a pretender to a contender to a
- 2:39Speaker 4: good team to what a great team understands. And you
- 2:42Speaker 4: guys have been around playoff teams, you kind of know
- 2:45Speaker 4: there's a way that you go about doing business. The
- 2:48Speaker 4: Jaguars have embraced the way that you have to operate
- 2:52Speaker 4: at a high level when you expect to win. They're
- 2:55Speaker 4: beginning to show all of those things ns a very
- 2:58Speaker 4: mature approach to that you take to winning these games,
- 3:02Speaker 4: and they're really beginning to do it. And you're seeing
- 3:05Speaker 4: a playoffs like on the field, off the field everything.
- 3:08Speaker 2: It is just fun to watch, you know, you know buckets.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I went up to Jacksonville like during I don't know
- 3:15Speaker 3: OTAs or you know what, Mini camp whatever, and I
- 3:19Speaker 3: called BISSELLI up and something coming.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I'm driving up. Let me spend the day.
- 3:23Speaker 3: So because it does start at the top, Bucky, like,
- 3:25Speaker 3: there is real leadership with Baselli, Gladstone, Liam Campanilli.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I feel for the first time they're actually in alignment.
- 3:34Speaker 3: How they you know, to go get Ja Kobe Myers
- 3:36Speaker 3: at the tread dell and whatever it is, rebuilding the
- 3:38Speaker 3: offensive line, get Erton, Robert Hainsey in at center. Like
- 3:41Speaker 3: there just seems to be certain things that everybody in
- 3:45Speaker 3: that organization is really aligned with right now.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I think that that alignment word is the is the buzzword,
- 3:51Speaker 1: and I think that's right on. That was a game
- 3:53Speaker 1: by the way they handled in the Indie unforcing loser
- 3:55Speaker 1: Daniel Jones with Jackson One's thirty six nineteen. But along
- 3:58Speaker 1: those alignment things like to me, okay, let's stay from
- 4:01Speaker 1: an ownership level, I want to have a physical team.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Well let's start by putting Tony.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Basseli maybe one of the most physical offensive tackle let's
- 4:08Speaker 1: ever walk the face of the earth in the leadership position.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Let's go get a general manager from the Rams, who
- 4:13Speaker 1: have been one of the most physical teams you know
- 4:15Speaker 1: over the last handful of years. And then let's go
- 4:18Speaker 1: get a head coach from Tampa. With the teams I
- 4:20Speaker 1: saw last year in person, I said at the time
- 4:22Speaker 1: was the most physical team that I saw the Chargers
- 4:24Speaker 1: play last year.
- 4:25Speaker 2: So Buck like they've lined it up.
- 4:27Speaker 1: You want to have a physical team that a team
- 4:28Speaker 1: that can take off during this time of the year.
- 4:31Speaker 2: They've kind of put all their ducks in a row here.
- 4:33Speaker 4: Yeah, they have put all the ducks in a row.
- 4:34Speaker 4: And I think the alignment is everything. And you guys know, man,
- 4:38Speaker 4: to be a championship team, like the entire building has
- 4:41Speaker 4: to be aligned, like from top to bodom. You have
- 4:44Speaker 4: to have the same vision. You've got to speak the
- 4:46Speaker 4: same language. Everyone has to believe in the same things.
- 4:49Speaker 4: They get you to the next level. And then it's
- 4:51Speaker 4: about putting the team together and figuring out what you
- 4:54Speaker 4: have and how to maximize what you have. We all
- 4:58Speaker 4: talk about like the seasons start us out. The first
- 5:00Speaker 4: half of the season is figuring out who you are
- 5:03Speaker 4: and what you need to be. And then the last
- 5:05Speaker 4: half of the year is being that team that you
- 5:07Speaker 4: need to be based on what you have and.
- 5:10Speaker 2: What you've seen.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Because we'll talk about Trevor Lawrence and I believe this
- 5:14Speaker 4: was the best game that I've seen him play. Having
- 5:16Speaker 4: been around the team for five years since the beginning
- 5:18Speaker 4: of his career, this was the best game that I've
- 5:21Speaker 4: seen him play from.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Top to bottom.
- 5:24Speaker 4: And it is about the coach freeing him and saying,
- 5:28Speaker 4: hey man, let it rip, like, don't worry about mistakes,
- 5:32Speaker 4: let it go, let the ball go, trust what you
- 5:35Speaker 4: see and we'll live with the consequences. And then it's
- 5:39Speaker 4: taking the pieces because you need someone over the middle,
- 5:42Speaker 4: so you go and get Jakobe Myers.
- 5:44Speaker 2: You need a big body presidence, so you have Tim
- 5:48Speaker 2: Parker come over.
- 5:49Speaker 4: You then go and Tim Patrick come over, and then
- 5:52Speaker 4: you go and get Brian Thomas Junior, who's the vertical threat.
- 5:55Speaker 4: And in this game, everybody played their role without making
- 6:01Speaker 4: it a bunch of individual things. It just all flowed.
- 6:04Speaker 4: And a lot of it is due to the quarterback
- 6:06Speaker 4: letting it go.
- 6:08Speaker 2: U DJ do me a favor.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Yeah, look up Devin Lloyd when he came out of Utah,
- 6:14Speaker 3: yepup of things. I know he was kind of an
- 6:16Speaker 3: outside guy and inside guy. He had good pass rush
- 6:19Speaker 3: ability at Utah. But he has five interceptions from the
- 6:23Speaker 3: mic linebacker spot big one yesterday, right, Bucky, Like not
- 6:27Speaker 3: everybody can play mike linebacker and get yourself five interceptions.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I mean, it's been a big part of this whole turnaround, Bucky.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Is just the takeaways that they're getting.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got it. I'll pull it up right here.
- 6:40Speaker 1: We did this, not we've done this before. To find
- 6:43Speaker 1: him here Devin Lloyd, because I'll have an actual summary
- 6:46Speaker 1: on him. I can read it my summary as we
- 6:48Speaker 1: go through. Devin Lloyd was my thirteenth overall player. Wow
- 6:52Speaker 1: Lloyd and Lloyd's a tall, rangy linebacker with exemplary versatility
- 6:56Speaker 1: and production split time between line up on the edge
- 6:58Speaker 1: and inside linebacker against the past. He can run in
- 7:01Speaker 1: mirror tight ends all over the field. He's very instinctive
- 7:04Speaker 1: as a zone dropper, able to anticipate drive and make
- 7:07Speaker 1: plays on the ball. His ball skills are special for
- 7:10Speaker 1: a linebacker see the pick six against Stanford. Lloyd is
- 7:13Speaker 1: an effective blitzer off the edge. Just playing a burst
- 7:15Speaker 1: of clothes and rekavoc in the backfield against the run.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Plays Downhill, uses length to playoff blocks, collect tackles great
- 7:21Speaker 1: lattel Range does have some stiffness in space, but he's
- 7:24Speaker 1: a reliable on linebacker. I love Lloyd's play speed, passion,
- 7:27Speaker 1: and aggression. He has pro Bowl potential.
- 7:30Speaker 2: There you go, man, you got that, like spot on,
- 7:33Speaker 2: That's who he is this year. Completely. The over ability
- 7:37Speaker 2: is you know, it's buck.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We've said this is we've kind of towards the end
- 7:41Speaker 1: of our scouting years, you know, going back over a decade.
- 7:44Speaker 1: It got to the point where when you're evaluating linebackers like,
- 7:46Speaker 1: if you can't cover, I can't put you on the field, man,
- 7:48Speaker 1: Like I love all the other stuff, but if you
- 7:50Speaker 1: can't cover, I can't I can't hide you.
- 7:53Speaker 4: And here's the thing, because there was some frustration in
- 7:56Speaker 4: the building about Devin Lloyd being a first round pick,
- 7:59Speaker 4: and that really delivered what many expect.
- 8:01Speaker 2: The first round picked the livers.
- 8:02Speaker 4: So you declined the fifth your option because the numbers
- 8:06Speaker 4: suggest that he hadn't been playing at that level, even
- 8:08Speaker 4: though you're inside those saying, guys, I don't know if
- 8:11Speaker 4: he's ever been used properly, like he hasn't been utilized
- 8:14Speaker 4: the way that he was utilized at Utah, where he
- 8:17Speaker 4: was a jack of all trades. He moved around, he
- 8:19Speaker 4: did everything. And in this system, Anthony Kimpannelly from day
- 8:23Speaker 4: one has put him in mike linebacker, has allowed him
- 8:26Speaker 4: to really be all the things that he could be inside,
- 8:31Speaker 4: getting down the field, chasing, playing with instincts and all that.
- 8:33Speaker 4: And DJ your report reads to a t in terms
- 8:37Speaker 4: of what we've seen from him this year. Now, the
- 8:40Speaker 4: problem is he's placed so well, you got a decision
- 8:43Speaker 4: to make at the end of the year.
- 8:44Speaker 2: How do you find a way to pay him to
- 8:45Speaker 2: keep him?
- 8:46Speaker 4: But he is the ultimate playmaker and his ability to
- 8:49Speaker 4: turn the ball over has really been a key for
- 8:52Speaker 4: this team and this defense.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Now there you go, see that we got.
- 8:55Speaker 1: We got Houston k Cy, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Chicago, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And we can't say we play favorites here because we
- 9:02Speaker 1: led with the little Jags. Yeah, because the Jags are cooking.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Let's get to the Houston k C game. Baldie, it
- 9:08Speaker 1: wasn't a funeral. They're still alive.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Casey's still alive, But they are clinging to their last breath.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Here they are, and you know we we we left
- 9:17Speaker 3: last week talking about how Houston just chokes you out.
- 9:22Speaker 3: They just they just don't give you anything. The way
- 9:25Speaker 3: that they rule the middle of the field. Everybody tackles.
- 9:29Speaker 3: You watch last year make the play on Thornton in
- 9:31Speaker 3: the end zone. It's a touchdown, it's a perfect throw.
- 9:33Speaker 3: They're gonna go up fourteen to ten. Last year, he
- 9:35Speaker 3: gets the ball out Jalen Peatrie's back. He's blown up
- 9:38Speaker 3: Rashee Rice in the middle of the field. They stop
- 9:41Speaker 3: him on two big fourth downs. I mean, it's a
- 9:43Speaker 3: ten to ten game in the fourth quarter. And Andy,
- 9:45Speaker 3: who's been unbelievable on fourth downs this year. They led
- 9:48Speaker 3: the league and fourth down conversions going into yesterday, they
- 9:51Speaker 3: had converted twenty out of twenty six and they got
- 9:54Speaker 3: a fourth and two at there. I mean, I don't
- 9:56Speaker 3: know when this all flipped DJ and Bucky, like when, Okay,
- 10:00Speaker 3: we're gonna go for it at the thirty yard line
- 10:02Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter at a ten to ten tie.
- 10:05Speaker 2: But it's remember when Belichick did that, Why he never
- 10:09Speaker 2: stopped hearing about it?
- 10:11Speaker 3: Like now it's you know, nobody even second guest Andy
- 10:14Speaker 3: at the thirty yard line, but it gave Houston the
- 10:17Speaker 3: short field.
- 10:17Speaker 2: They scored the touchdown.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Give them credit, but Houston's defense is going to like
- 10:22Speaker 3: I wrote it down here, they're seven and oh when
- 10:25Speaker 3: they score twenty points for more, like they are not
- 10:28Speaker 3: giving you twenty. It doesn't matter who they play against
- 10:31Speaker 3: right now. They're just that good Will Anderson, Daniel, the
- 10:34Speaker 3: whole group right now. So I felt like the fourth
- 10:38Speaker 3: downs really flipped that game, and they had they had
- 10:42Speaker 3: some opportunities.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Now we're gonna say this and we'll we'll talk about
- 10:45Speaker 4: this because it comes up a few other times, like
- 10:47Speaker 4: guys going for it. And I know in the league
- 10:49Speaker 4: there's been kind of the turn where everyone is super
- 10:52Speaker 4: aggressive on fourth down. I said, when Andy Reever was
- 10:55Speaker 4: thinking about going for it, I was like, man, read
- 10:57Speaker 4: the room. It is so hard to score point in Houston,
- 11:00Speaker 4: Like you don't give them points, right, it's a ten
- 11:03Speaker 4: to ten game, Like there's no need to get out
- 11:06Speaker 4: of pocket. And I think sometimes he sees fifteen and
- 11:11Speaker 4: we understand what the Chiefs used to be.
- 11:14Speaker 2: They're not that team anymore.
- 11:16Speaker 4: And they had fought like the Dickens to be in
- 11:18Speaker 4: that position to be tied up against a really good
- 11:20Speaker 4: football team, and I think that took a lot of
- 11:22Speaker 4: the win out of their seals.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And I never thought that they would be able to
- 11:26Speaker 2: recover from it because I just couldn't. I couldn't figure
- 11:29Speaker 2: out how they were going to score a touchdown against
- 11:32Speaker 2: the Texans.
- 11:33Speaker 3: But they couldn't block Chris Jones all night. Like, he
- 11:36Speaker 3: literally ruined the offense of Houston. I didn't matter if
- 11:39Speaker 3: you lined up on Ursery or Ingram or Trent Brown.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I mean he beat every single lineman, art, every double
- 11:46Speaker 3: team d from the start to the finish.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It was the best game I seen him playing a
- 11:50Speaker 2: long time.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going through his stuff this morning, Baldi
- 11:54Speaker 1: and I was watching all he.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Had eight pressures.
- 11:56Speaker 1: His risk control is like, to me, better than anybody
- 12:00Speaker 1: I can ever remember. His ability to hit a hand
- 12:03Speaker 1: as it's punching and just control your like you can't
- 12:06Speaker 1: get to him a lot of times, like I saw
- 12:08Speaker 1: Joey Bosa.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Was just this. It was a swipe right.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Yeah, he will grab he will physically grab their hand
- 12:14Speaker 1: and you can't get to them. So I saw that
- 12:17Speaker 1: I saw quick arm overs there. There were I mean
- 12:21Speaker 1: these wins were early. When you get wins early inside,
- 12:24Speaker 1: that is a nightmare crossing guy's faces.
- 12:26Speaker 2: I mean it was. It was impressive. Uh.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I will get to my last song on him in
- 12:31Speaker 1: just a secondent. I want to flip over to Will
- 12:32Speaker 1: Anderson because I want to watch his past rush stuff too.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I wrote down Mario and Rivera. It is the same
- 12:37Speaker 1: pitch every single time. It is he is lined up
- 12:39Speaker 1: wide with the runway and he is going to pry
- 12:41Speaker 1: your shoulder open. They always talk about in coaching, you know, scouting,
- 12:45Speaker 1: like hey, can you work half a man? Can you
- 12:47Speaker 1: get through them? Can you pry that shoulder open? Faud,
- 12:49Speaker 1: He does that as well as anybody.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Man. No, no, no, no, It's consistent. It's consistent.
- 12:55Speaker 3: And in his takeoff like that guy is jacked up
- 12:58Speaker 3: and ready to play every play, and you know there's
- 13:02Speaker 3: just there's not enough. You know, everybody wants one of
- 13:04Speaker 3: those guys, Like didn't they trade.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Up to get him?
- 13:07Speaker 1: They traded yes, because yeah, that was they took straight,
- 13:10Speaker 1: took Stroud, and I just.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I just remember the whole scouting process when he was
- 13:15Speaker 3: coming out, like not many guys coming in Tuscaloosa as
- 13:20Speaker 3: an eighteen year old for Nick and start day one.
- 13:23Speaker 2: He started.
- 13:23Speaker 3: He was a man day one in Tuscaloosa, like and
- 13:26Speaker 3: and it's just it has just continued.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Uh. He just played. He does everything the right way.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Leverage, hands, power, effort, like he's just he's just an
- 13:37Speaker 3: incredible force out there. And he probably as many good
- 13:42Speaker 3: players as they have on defense. He probably is is uh,
- 13:46Speaker 3: you know, the captain of that ship.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Right now, last thing will wrap up and move on
- 13:50Speaker 2: this one. But the sign of.
- 13:51Speaker 1: A of a kind of a generational player in terms
- 13:55Speaker 1: of what Alabama's had. I think of all the great players,
- 13:57Speaker 1: but every year I talk to guys there and want
- 14:00Speaker 1: to ask you about players, and it cracks me up
- 14:02Speaker 1: because every time it's Hey Booker, he was like the
- 14:05Speaker 1: offensive Will Anderson, like he was the leader. He was
- 14:08Speaker 1: like they talked about defense. Good player, I mean, not
- 14:11Speaker 1: a Will Anderson in terms of a work ethic. And
- 14:13Speaker 1: then the next player you ask about, you're like, oh, man,
- 14:15Speaker 1: he's not quite as strong as Will. Will Anderson is
- 14:17Speaker 1: the guy that's on the front of their mind. He
- 14:19Speaker 1: has been there in several years, Like they're still talking
- 14:21Speaker 1: about him now.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he's the number one compunk.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Oh gosh, he's the measuring stick, you know, He's the
- 14:27Speaker 1: measuring stick for everybody. And then so the last thing
- 14:29Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you, Buck, I'll hit you on
- 14:31Speaker 1: this in Baldy follow if this is because as I'm
- 14:33Speaker 1: watching this game, I'm thinking about it, Chris Jones played
- 14:36Speaker 1: really really well, and to be honest, with as many
- 14:38Speaker 1: wins as he had, he like three or four year ago,
- 14:42Speaker 1: Chris Jones I think would have had a four SAT
- 14:44Speaker 1: game where he didn't he couldn't just quite finish it,
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, I didn't have quite that little bit to
- 14:49Speaker 1: finish it. But I'm sitting here going, if this is
- 14:51Speaker 1: the Chiefs kind of coming down the mountain a little bit,
- 14:53Speaker 1: that is one of their real assets to me that
- 14:56Speaker 1: if you were going to try and infuse some draft
- 14:59Speaker 1: picks and some youth to this thing, that that's a
- 15:01Speaker 1: that's a chip for them, because I don't you know,
- 15:03Speaker 1: if they have to retoolless say, I don't know Chris
- 15:05Speaker 1: Jones is going to be part of that next run
- 15:06Speaker 1: for Kansas City in three years or two years, however
- 15:09Speaker 1: long it takes to kind of rebuild this thing, Buck,
- 15:11Speaker 1: But I think you have a heck of an asset
- 15:12Speaker 1: which which team's right there at the top would would
- 15:14Speaker 1: pay handsomely for.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, like, I think this is the first
- 15:19Speaker 4: time that he can see the Chiefs have to think
- 15:21Speaker 4: about those kinds of decisions. Like I know they made
- 15:24Speaker 4: the move with Tyreek Hill. Part of that was not
- 15:26Speaker 4: not one to pay him. But I think we're seeing, Okay,
- 15:29Speaker 4: this is the end of this iteration of the Chiefs,
- 15:32Speaker 4: and Chris Jones is the asset that we can move
- 15:35Speaker 4: off of to maybe help us get back. Maybe it's
- 15:38Speaker 4: a short dip and he become right back. He's still terrific,
- 15:42Speaker 4: he's still impactful, he's still disruptive at the point of attack,
- 15:45Speaker 4: but as an older player, he can't do it to
- 15:49Speaker 4: the same consistency that he used to be able to
- 15:51Speaker 4: do it, And it might be time to move off
- 15:53Speaker 4: of him because he could offer a team as a
- 15:56Speaker 4: contender that immediate thing that they need to get over.
- 15:59Speaker 4: So very much like INDOMICATESU at the end of his
- 16:02Speaker 4: run to kind of be a higher gun, I think
- 16:04Speaker 4: that's where Chris Jones is going to be at this stage.
- 16:07Speaker 4: But for the Chiefs, they need that long term thing
- 16:10Speaker 4: so they can figure out how to build this around
- 16:12Speaker 4: Patrick Mahomes and whatever pieces of the polls that they
- 16:15Speaker 4: can they can keep in place to allow them to
- 16:17Speaker 4: get back on top.
- 16:19Speaker 1: By the way, before we leave this game, Straud played
- 16:20Speaker 1: well and if Stroud to me, this is very reminiscent
- 16:23Speaker 1: of those forty nine or Super Bowl teams, you know,
- 16:26Speaker 1: with those dominant defenses. And think about memory. Go back
- 16:28Speaker 1: to Jimmy Baldy, Remember Jimmy. Jimmy hits was Emmanuel Sanders
- 16:31Speaker 1: on the post.
- 16:32Speaker 2: They want they always wide to hit.
- 16:34Speaker 1: You gotta hit him, like Stroud to me, doesn't need
- 16:36Speaker 1: to score thirty points. He's got to make those two
- 16:38Speaker 1: or three throws that press.
- 16:39Speaker 3: So the throw the throw at ten to ten to
- 16:43Speaker 3: Nico Collins and yeah, I put it out there this morning,
- 16:47Speaker 3: but I might not that I'm comparing to Mahomes ce
- 16:50Speaker 3: J's own guy.
- 16:50Speaker 2: But it was so mahomes life, like he's being chased.
- 16:53Speaker 3: He's got Karloftis, he's got Tranquil, They're all coming after him.
- 16:57Speaker 2: And his roles was right.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And Nico does a great job of coming back to
- 17:00Speaker 3: the ball because it's just throwing the middle of the field.
- 17:02Speaker 3: It's just hanging out there. But he gets enough on
- 17:05Speaker 3: it that turns into a fifty three yard play. They score,
- 17:07Speaker 3: you know, a few plays later. It was that explosive
- 17:10Speaker 3: play that they needed. And not to turn the ball over.
- 17:13Speaker 3: That's what happened obviously in the playoff losses. You know,
- 17:16Speaker 3: he was under dress, the offensive line failed, the protection
- 17:19Speaker 3: was bad. But yesterday, like Spags, heated him up quite
- 17:22Speaker 3: a few times, but he did not turn the ball over.
- 17:25Speaker 3: They punted a whole bunch, but they didn't turn the
- 17:27Speaker 3: ball over and that was a big key of the game.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the team again.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Anybody wants us to have anything to do with Houston
- 17:33Speaker 1: the way they're rolling right now, let's say quick break,
- 17:35Speaker 1: we'll come back.
- 17:36Speaker 2: We'll knock out a few more games.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Cincinnati Buffalo another incredibly entertaining game in the snow. Buffalo
- 17:45Speaker 1: came back in this game. They went a shootout thirty
- 17:47Speaker 1: nine to thirty four. Pretty incredible how Burrow has made
- 17:51Speaker 1: Cincinnati is so competitive with the with the best teams
- 17:54Speaker 1: in the league. As soon as he showed back up
- 17:56Speaker 1: with what he can do. A couple of takeaways from
- 17:58Speaker 1: me and then I'll forget it to you guys. The
- 18:00Speaker 1: tight ends for Buffalo were Big Knox six for ninety three,
- 18:03Speaker 1: kin Kid four for forty one, and the absence of
- 18:06Speaker 1: big time, elite weapons on the outside. I think that
- 18:08Speaker 1: offense has got to work inside out, and I think
- 18:11Speaker 1: you're seeing that in big games.
- 18:12Speaker 2: But to me, the other thing is just Josh's legs.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Do we put this in perspective for you guys.
- 18:17Speaker 1: In the last three years so this year, in the
- 18:20Speaker 1: last two Josh Allen has thirty nine rushing touchdowns thirty nine.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson in that period of time has eleven. He's
- 18:30Speaker 1: got twenty eight more rushing touchdowns in.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson over the last three years. That blelew. That
- 18:35Speaker 2: just blew my mind, baldy of what this dude has done.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Well When he busted that forty yard touchdow up the middle,
- 18:41Speaker 3: you know, against the Blitz like that, like nobody was.
- 18:45Speaker 3: I mean it was man coverage, who was Blitzer the
- 18:47Speaker 3: whole thing, But I mean he got to that end
- 18:50Speaker 3: zone a hurry, like he has another gear when that
- 18:53Speaker 3: ball is in his hands. And the only thing I
- 18:56Speaker 3: kind of feared after he scored was I didn't know
- 18:58Speaker 3: if that ball was going to go right through the
- 19:00Speaker 3: stadium wall the way I thought it might puncture a
- 19:04Speaker 3: hole in there, but he do that first touchdown he
- 19:07Speaker 3: threw to Shakir. I honestly, he could have thrown that
- 19:12Speaker 3: ball through a like a car wash. It wouldn't have
- 19:14Speaker 3: gotten wet like he it was. It was like it
- 19:17Speaker 3: was fourth down, you know, yet it was do or die.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It was like it was intercepted. It's intercepted because he
- 19:22Speaker 3: went through four different sets of hands, and I think
- 19:25Speaker 3: Demetrius nights on coverage, you know, on Shakira at the
- 19:27Speaker 3: end zone right there, it goes right by his earlobe.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Some of them.
- 19:32Speaker 3: He can still put the highlights together as well as
- 19:34Speaker 3: anybody in this business.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Look, man, I just have always thought that he was
- 19:42Speaker 4: a version of Cam Newton with the stuff that Sean
- 19:46Speaker 4: McDermott and Brandon being wanted in terms of he gave
- 19:49Speaker 4: them that physical presence that is.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Really really tough to deal with in the red zone.
- 19:54Speaker 4: And the thing about Josh Allen that we've talked about
- 19:58Speaker 4: is when I went to see him at the the
- 20:00Speaker 4: Potato Bowl when Boys he played Western Michigan, and he
- 20:04Speaker 4: was inaccurate and he was.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Playing with a bunch of non descript players.
- 20:08Speaker 4: I never could imagine that this dude would be arguably
- 20:11Speaker 4: the best quarterback in the league given what he displayed then.
- 20:15Speaker 2: But I would say it's not only the skills that
- 20:17Speaker 2: he brings.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I would say it's the maturation that he is displayed,
- 20:21Speaker 4: where he's going from being the playmaker that is wild
- 20:24Speaker 4: and reckless to being the guy that knows when to
- 20:27Speaker 4: put the cape on when the game is hanging in
- 20:30Speaker 4: the balance. And because he's able to do that, he
- 20:33Speaker 4: knows how to protect himself and preserve himself for these moments.
- 20:38Speaker 4: The only way the Buffalo Bills can make a deep
- 20:40Speaker 4: postseason run is if he does these superhero things each
- 20:44Speaker 4: and every week going forward.
- 20:46Speaker 2: But I wouldn't bet against him being able to do it.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Which is why you kind of put an astray by
- 20:52Speaker 4: the Bills, because as number seventeen goes, this team is
- 20:56Speaker 4: going to go when it comes to the postseason.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Well, when they've had better players on the perimeter, he
- 21:00Speaker 1: hasn't had to do that, and he's showing the maturity
- 21:03Speaker 1: to not, you know, even try to do that. And
- 21:05Speaker 1: we said it earlier this year, there were times where
- 21:07Speaker 1: I thought he was preserving himself a little bit, knowing
- 21:09Speaker 1: like Okay, I can't do this all the time.
- 21:11Speaker 2: But when it's needed, I need to do it.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Well, he found himself in a shootout with Joe Burrow
- 21:14Speaker 1: and so he had he had to crank it up
- 21:16Speaker 1: a little bit on this one. You know, to me, Baldy,
- 21:19Speaker 1: if they hit, if they hit on all these draft
- 21:21Speaker 1: picks around him, which they haven't really done on the perimeter,
- 21:26Speaker 1: then I don't think he'd have to be this superman
- 21:28Speaker 1: And in some ways it might end up shortening his
- 21:30Speaker 1: career a little bit. I hope they can add some
- 21:33Speaker 1: better pieces in the future so that he didn't have
- 21:36Speaker 1: to dial this up to eleven like this. But he's
- 21:39Speaker 1: got it for sure. He's got it if you need it.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I just I'd like to see them build a roster
- 21:43Speaker 1: where he doesn't necessarily have to do that quite so much.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Jackson Hall's bailed him out at the goal line there yesterday.
- 21:50Speaker 3: That guy can lock man. He's catching some touchdown. The
- 21:53Speaker 3: tight ends really helped them. It's a tight end based offense.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I saw a couple of guys though defensively though, DJ,
- 21:59Speaker 3: you know they did guys in the middle round. You
- 22:01Speaker 3: know that that was like, I don't know, I just
- 22:04Speaker 3: thought it was a great defensive line draft.
- 22:05Speaker 2: But TJ.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Sanders, Day one Walker, like these guys are Max Harrison,
- 22:10Speaker 3: like the defensive guys are contributing.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I know Eorro put up a big number at.
- 22:14Speaker 3: Cincinnati, but they didn't run the ball very well against
- 22:17Speaker 3: that front. I thought the big guys up front, I
- 22:19Speaker 3: thought they were a little limited in what you can
- 22:21Speaker 3: do with Sanders and Walker, But for what they're asking
- 22:24Speaker 3: him to do, I thought they they played pretty well.
- 22:27Speaker 3: And they need them. They need those guys, you know,
- 22:29Speaker 3: to step up. Day Kwon Jones is still around somehow
- 22:33Speaker 3: in this business. Like it's you know, a bunch of
- 22:35Speaker 3: guys in the middle that are still kind of plugging
- 22:37Speaker 3: things away to help that help that defense out right now.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of amasting to see them in the playoffs.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And if if they don't end up winning the division,
- 22:47Speaker 1: if New England holds on, got Lee, congratulations, you get
- 22:51Speaker 1: a home playoff game. Oh who's coming in here? Oh
- 22:53Speaker 1: Josh Allen and the first round is rolling in here.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I don't think anybody be too excited about seeing those
- 22:56Speaker 1: guys come to town. All right, Buck, start us off
- 22:58Speaker 1: on this one. Iago green Bay, heck of a game
- 23:01Speaker 1: Green Bay. They get the interception at the very end
- 23:04Speaker 1: of this game to preserve the win. They went twenty
- 23:07Speaker 1: eight to twenty one, a game that was incredibly entertaining
- 23:11Speaker 1: and finished off with maybe the fastest post game handshake
- 23:14Speaker 1: between head coaches that I've seen in quite sometime.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Well, look, man, when Ben Johnson called Ajack, when he
- 23:20Speaker 4: called him out at the introduction press conference, he poured
- 23:24Speaker 4: kerose in on a rivaly that was already fully inflamed,
- 23:28Speaker 4: and in doing that have been played in that ribby activity.
- 23:31Speaker 4: It's as intense as it is. It would probably be
- 23:33Speaker 4: on part with the Ravens Steelers rivalry that we also
- 23:37Speaker 4: saw take place. But to me, man, this was a
- 23:40Speaker 4: great game on both sides. And I will say, and
- 23:42Speaker 4: I'm gonna take the Packers side on this. The Green
- 23:45Speaker 4: Bay Packers needed to dispatch the Bears in this fashion
- 23:49Speaker 4: to re establish that they're the team to beat in
- 23:51Speaker 4: the NFC North. This was a game where the Bears
- 23:54Speaker 4: were coming off a great win on Black Friday, a
- 23:57Speaker 4: physical win with a random ball all up and down
- 24:00Speaker 4: on the Eagles. For the Green Bay Packers to step
- 24:03Speaker 4: up and to contain the running game and deal with
- 24:06Speaker 4: all the things that Ben Johnson can do. A very
- 24:08Speaker 4: creative and physical run game that speaks volumes to their defense,
- 24:12Speaker 4: but offensively, they got back to who they are in
- 24:16Speaker 4: the passing game. Welcome back Jayden Reid, Welcome back Christian Watson.
- 24:21Speaker 4: This is the offense that we expected to see them,
- 24:24Speaker 4: throwing slash and intermediate stuff to those guys while running
- 24:28Speaker 4: the football with Josh Jacobs. If the Packers stick to
- 24:31Speaker 4: the script, this is the team that can be the
- 24:34Speaker 4: title team in Title Town.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Well, a couple of things.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Jordan Love throws three touchdown passes in the span of
- 24:44Speaker 3: twelve plays. Twelve plays and I mean three perfect touchdown passes.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Now Brisker misses the one touchdown to watching the end
- 24:53Speaker 3: zone by literally a fingernail like that. He's right there,
- 24:56Speaker 3: he sees the ball, he's half field. Safety makes a
- 24:59Speaker 3: break them to they're splitting the post right there, and
- 25:02Speaker 3: I mean, he's just it's a different between winning and losing.
- 25:05Speaker 3: It's just that close. And that's what the game was.
- 25:07Speaker 3: A couple of things.
- 25:08Speaker 2: DJ one was Anthony Belton has played really good at guard.
- 25:11Speaker 3: They had a big weakness there once Jenkins went down,
- 25:13Speaker 3: and they're trying to figure out the center position with Ryan, they.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Had a real hole at guard. And I felt like.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Anthony Belton these last two weeks has played really really well.
- 25:23Speaker 3: First of all, the kid's got great balance, and I
- 25:25Speaker 3: don't know when you come down to North Carolina State
- 25:27Speaker 3: if you thought tack tackle guard, but he looks him
- 25:31Speaker 3: and Zach Tom on the right side, I thought played
- 25:34Speaker 3: really well, really controlled the line of scrimmage. Number one.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Number two, is there a more difficult kind of tackle
- 25:43Speaker 3: in this league than kylem an Unguy, Like nobody can
- 25:45Speaker 3: tackle that guy. It's unbelievable, and that's why they give
- 25:49Speaker 3: it to him on the goal line in short yard,
- 25:51Speaker 3: they're giving the ball to him because they can't tackle
- 25:53Speaker 3: that guy.
- 25:54Speaker 2: That's That's one.
- 25:55Speaker 3: The last play, the interception that you talked about, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 3: makes a good play, but they basically ran that same
- 26:02Speaker 3: play against the Eagles last week Cole Comett. They hit
- 26:05Speaker 3: it to Cole Comet last week, and I thought it
- 26:08Speaker 3: was a fourth and one play. I thought it's the
- 26:11Speaker 3: same action, same play action, half boot roll to the left,
- 26:15Speaker 3: and I thought Caleb just stayed on DeAndre Swift too long.
- 26:19Speaker 2: DJE.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Maybe if he looked deep first he would have seen
- 26:24Speaker 3: Cole Comet break first, and maybe we're not even talking
- 26:27Speaker 3: about you know, Green Bay and what they needed to do,
- 26:29Speaker 3: like maybe Chicago wins that one or at least, you know,
- 26:32Speaker 3: send it an overtime right now.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, on that play specifically, I think it was He's
- 26:36Speaker 1: the only thing he couldn't do was be in the
- 26:38Speaker 1: middle because he if he's on time, if he sees
- 26:41Speaker 1: it gets off, it sees that he gets Comet for
- 26:43Speaker 1: the touchdown. If he buys a little bit more time
- 26:46Speaker 1: seeing that that's that I'm too late on that and
- 26:49Speaker 1: waits for DJ Moore who's coming from the back side.
- 26:52Speaker 1: He could literally he could literally just option flip it
- 26:54Speaker 1: to him and he's he's probably going to get into
- 26:56Speaker 1: the end zone there. But I mean, look it was
- 26:59Speaker 1: Green Bay was ready for it. They were in a
- 27:02Speaker 1: pretty good spot there. They covered up the flat, took
- 27:04Speaker 1: away the layup, and then and then he's a little
- 27:06Speaker 1: bit late. So I thought it was an incredible game.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm going back through some of the stuff that I
- 27:11Speaker 1: watched Micah Parsons in this game at seven pressures, I
- 27:14Speaker 1: want to hit you on this body just to see
- 27:16Speaker 1: what you think from an offensive line perspective, because the
- 27:19Speaker 1: things that stood out to me, you line them up
- 27:21Speaker 1: on the edge and you can see you know, he'll
- 27:23Speaker 1: went out there. You'll see him cross face coming inside.
- 27:27Speaker 1: They use him as a looper at times, and he
- 27:30Speaker 1: was effective. But to me using him, I've always people
- 27:34Speaker 1: will call it different things, and people call it like
- 27:35Speaker 1: a joker or a walk around rusher. To me, when
- 27:38Speaker 1: he's when he just milling around and walking around and
- 27:41Speaker 1: I don't know where he's going to insert into the rush,
- 27:44Speaker 1: that to me is a quarterback was a nightmare because
- 27:47Speaker 1: I can you can chip him, you can slide protection
- 27:51Speaker 1: when you don't know which where he's coming from, and
- 27:53Speaker 1: you're gonna end up what they end up doing a
- 27:55Speaker 1: lot of times they end up fanning out your protection.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And now you've got a guard with a three way
- 28:00Speaker 1: go and that four to three whatever he ran, Michael
- 28:03Speaker 1: Parson's coming at you like, have fun with that.
- 28:06Speaker 3: He literally is the He's the kryptonite for Caleb. He's
- 28:10Speaker 3: the one guy beat him.
- 28:11Speaker 2: To the corner. That's the first time I've seen anybody
- 28:13Speaker 2: beat Caleb.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Caleb pause. The guy can't turn the corner on. I mean,
- 28:20Speaker 3: how many throwaways did he have because of Mike and
- 28:21Speaker 3: chasing him. He had at least three or four, and
- 28:24Speaker 3: a couple of them were on third down. And so
- 28:26Speaker 3: you look in the stat page and Michael Parsons as
- 28:28Speaker 3: a tackle, you know, like, but he affected the game
- 28:31Speaker 3: so many different ways. And I agree with you, like,
- 28:33Speaker 3: when he's just on the edge, there's just too many
- 28:35Speaker 3: things you can do to him. You can set your protection,
- 28:39Speaker 3: you can chip, you can do all the basic things.
- 28:41Speaker 3: But when he's in the middle and he gets to
- 28:43Speaker 3: kind of free reign where he wants to go. I
- 28:45Speaker 3: always say he's like he's like water. He's just gonna
- 28:49Speaker 3: find the He's just gonna get through everything. He's just
- 28:51Speaker 3: going to be that leak and he's going to get
- 28:53Speaker 3: through the soup and everything else in the middle. And
- 28:56Speaker 3: then once that quarterback is running the way Caleb likes
- 28:59Speaker 3: to like, he's just gonna flatten it to the sideline
- 29:02Speaker 3: where you're gonna you're gonna have very little option to
- 29:04Speaker 3: be able to make any kind of a throw.
- 29:07Speaker 4: I want to figure back the last thing on Michael
- 29:09Speaker 4: Parson's going there. To me, it just kind of speaks
- 29:12Speaker 4: to the high standards that were already established when he
- 29:15Speaker 4: walked in the building in Green Bay. How he's not
- 29:18Speaker 4: only met those standards and kind of welcome and embrace
- 29:21Speaker 4: maybe the structure that they have in place.
- 29:23Speaker 2: But Jeff Hafley, I don't.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Think it's easy sometimes taking a great player and in
- 29:27Speaker 4: in the middle of the season trying to figure out
- 29:29Speaker 4: what to do with him. He's done a really good
- 29:32Speaker 4: job of putting him in optimal situations to impact the
- 29:35Speaker 4: game the most without compromising the rest of the defense man.
- 29:40Speaker 4: This team is playing their best ball heading down the stretch,
- 29:44Speaker 4: and there's so much meat left on the ball on
- 29:46Speaker 4: offensive defense that they can get to do.
- 29:49Speaker 1: You guys, remember when Rocky Long was the head coach
- 29:51Speaker 1: in New Mexico. I remember what Remember they called the
- 29:55Speaker 1: lobo position erlacker played it. They put their erlacker eight yards,
- 29:59Speaker 1: so you had to level of the linebackers and all
- 30:01Speaker 1: of a sudden, it looked like the top of the bucket.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Would call it like the top of the Christmas tree
- 30:04Speaker 1: with a linebacker eight yards and he would just see
- 30:06Speaker 1: everything and just just shoot gaps and get to either alley.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my gosh, Rocky Long must watch. I
- 30:12Speaker 1: hope Rocky lungs.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I don't know what he is now, he's still I
- 30:16Speaker 1: hope he's watching Michael Parsons and going, Man, I would
- 30:18Speaker 1: have loved to have thrown that guy at the Lobo
- 30:20Speaker 1: position in Albuquerque.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Because it's what you're talking about.
- 30:23Speaker 4: It's the old three three five defense they used to
- 30:26Speaker 4: run in New Mexico. Brian Urlacher was low what he
- 30:29Speaker 4: would just have re rain and in an odd front
- 30:33Speaker 4: where you can move and do all this movement like
- 30:35Speaker 4: pits Burg has done for years. Like you're just able
- 30:38Speaker 4: to create these things. And I'm gonna say this, man,
- 30:40Speaker 4: Michael Paris is a freak of nature when it comes
- 30:44Speaker 4: to being able to rush, to pass or blitz, impact, impact,
- 30:48Speaker 4: just the athleticism, the explosiveness.
- 30:50Speaker 2: He's a problem and he is the ultimate eracer to
- 30:53Speaker 2: an athletic quarterback like Kaylei Williams. Yeah, I hate that
- 30:57Speaker 2: was that was fun to watch.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I'm just sitting there thinking, man, that's got to be
- 31:00Speaker 1: fun with a game plan every week to have an
- 31:02Speaker 1: athlete like that at your disposals. Figure out what you
- 31:04Speaker 1: want to do with them. Baldy, you were at my
- 31:07Speaker 1: favorite rivalry in the NFL, Buck mentioned it. Pittsburgh Baltimore.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Pittsburgh goes on the road, huge win, and Baltimore all
- 31:13Speaker 1: of a sudden, you look up, they are collapsing down
- 31:16Speaker 1: the home stretch. Here they lose twenty seven to twenty two.
- 31:19Speaker 1: What would your takeaway from this one?
- 31:21Speaker 3: Well, I thought that Aaron and the offense got aggressive
- 31:26Speaker 3: from the first play. First play they hit DK on
- 31:28Speaker 3: a fifty two YARLD go route against Marlon Humphrey.
- 31:31Speaker 2: It's a perfect throw by Aaron.
- 31:32Speaker 3: It's a throw that he will still make ten years
- 31:35Speaker 3: from now when he's playing you know, pick on, you know, in.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Elchino, California, wherever he's at.
- 31:41Speaker 3: But I mean it's a perfect throw, good play action
- 31:44Speaker 3: fake to get get the free safety Alloie Gilman just
- 31:48Speaker 3: to kind of freeze there. He can't get over the top.
- 31:50Speaker 3: But he hit that throw three times in a game.
- 31:53Speaker 3: They scored in all those throws. So he hit Calvin
- 31:56Speaker 3: Alson on one, he hit DK another time, he hit
- 31:59Speaker 3: DK on his ramble drill across the middle, and you
- 32:02Speaker 3: you know, for the first time in a while now,
- 32:04Speaker 3: DK was a big part of that offense. And so
- 32:07Speaker 3: that that that was good and that that kind of
- 32:11Speaker 3: set the table for what the Steelers were doing. They hit,
- 32:15Speaker 3: they hit a play to Jaylen Waht Jayleen Warren for
- 32:19Speaker 3: a touchdown. I mean, I don't know what Baltimore is doing.
- 32:21Speaker 3: They know didn't cover the tight end. They didn't cover
- 32:23Speaker 3: Warren and it was just an easy, just swing route
- 32:27Speaker 3: to Warn. He went in for a touchdown, the final
- 32:29Speaker 3: touchdown the day. I thought, you know, Baltimore had some chances,
- 32:33Speaker 3: uh DJ, Like, I don't know, Like I don't know
- 32:36Speaker 3: what a touchdown is anymore. I think Isaiah likely has down.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I'm looking at it and I'm going, I don't know
- 32:43Speaker 3: if it's the end zone. Isn't that the same thing
- 32:45Speaker 3: as a field of play, you know, Like he's got
- 32:48Speaker 3: the control of the ball and the third step didn't
- 32:51Speaker 3: get down.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Joey Porter punches at it, but like, is that what
- 32:55Speaker 2: we I don't know. It looked like a wind common sight,
- 33:00Speaker 2: common sense in the eye test, I mean.
- 33:02Speaker 3: An eye testing, so you can look at down and
- 33:04Speaker 3: you go and likely he's doing everything he possibly can
- 33:07Speaker 3: to show possession of the ball. He's squeezing it. He's
- 33:10Speaker 3: showing the whole world I got the ball in my hands.
- 33:13Speaker 3: I don't know, like I felt like, you know, there's
- 33:16Speaker 3: a couple of calls in that game. You don't want
- 33:17Speaker 3: it to come down to calls. Travis Jones, you know,
- 33:21Speaker 3: gets called for uh, you know, hitting the center on
- 33:24Speaker 3: a field goal.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Pittsburgh kicks the field goal. It's a three.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Point play, you know, and then they get the first down.
- 33:31Speaker 3: They didn't the score, so in terms of four point play,
- 33:34Speaker 3: and I'm watching Travis Jones, He's rushing the A gap.
- 33:37Speaker 3: He's not going over the center, but he's in the
- 33:39Speaker 3: A gap, Like are you not allowed to touch the
- 33:41Speaker 3: center at all? On some of these plays? Like he's
- 33:44Speaker 3: just getting pushed into it. So I felt like there's
- 33:46Speaker 3: a couple of calls that went again. Some hardball was livid,
- 33:49Speaker 3: but uh, you know, Pittsburgh, they they.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Did enough defense.
- 33:53Speaker 3: So I thought James Pierre played really well on the corner,
- 33:56Speaker 3: made a couple of big plays, got the interception on
- 33:58Speaker 3: Lamar on a really nice played by him. I thought
- 34:01Speaker 3: he played really well opposite you know, Joey Porter at corner.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Cam Hayward eight pressures in this game, and they you know,
- 34:08Speaker 1: he moves up and down the line.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Three tech.
- 34:10Speaker 1: They'll use him as a four eye on the inside
- 34:12Speaker 1: of the tackle. He's not anywhere near as quick as
- 34:17Speaker 1: he was when he was younger as a player, but
- 34:19Speaker 1: he's got so much dang power that the lack of
- 34:22Speaker 1: twitch that he had a few years back doesn't really matter.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And they the last play of the game, the biggest
- 34:27Speaker 1: play of the game, they finished him off, was a
- 34:29Speaker 1: little pick stunt and he just kind of comes off
- 34:31Speaker 1: a pick stunt, ends up closing. He pops in in
- 34:34Speaker 1: Lamar's vision. So then Lamar, you know, tries to get
- 34:36Speaker 1: out of there, and then Hei Smith catches him much behind.
- 34:39Speaker 1: But it's kind of made by Cam Hayward. I mean,
- 34:41Speaker 1: he's he's another one. You go back and look at
- 34:43Speaker 1: that draft. He was in that draft with all those guys,
- 34:45Speaker 1: all those eleven Yeah, yeah, it was. It's one of
- 34:48Speaker 1: the best drafts of all time. And I feel like
- 34:51Speaker 1: because of that, and because of you know, playing with TJ.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Watt and playing with some of the other guys he's
- 34:55Speaker 1: played with that, I don't know that we realize how
- 34:58Speaker 1: good of a player this game. He's thirty six years old.
- 35:01Speaker 1: He's been doing this a long time, man.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Yeah, he has been doing it a long time. And
- 35:07Speaker 4: you know the thing about the Pittsburgh steel Is. Dad
- 35:10Speaker 4: continues to amaze me with Mike Tomlin and all these
- 35:13Speaker 4: old guys is whenever you're ready to poor dirt on them,
- 35:16Speaker 4: they find a way to just kind of come back.
- 35:18Speaker 2: And it wasn't a pretty performance.
- 35:20Speaker 4: But I mean, man, look the still has looked as
- 35:22Speaker 4: bad as I've seen them in the last few weeks.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I mean, they look terrible. Mike Tomley looked like he
- 35:27Speaker 4: couldn't get them going.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers didn't look great. He was hurt. And then
- 35:30Speaker 2: they come back and they dust one off. Now can
- 35:33Speaker 2: they keep it up? I don't know. I think it's
- 35:34Speaker 2: still is.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Going to come down to that last game when the
- 35:37Speaker 4: Stellers in the Ravens played the rematch.
- 35:39Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 35:40Speaker 4: It's always just kind of funny when they're back to
- 35:42Speaker 4: the corner, they always kind of turn back the clock
- 35:44Speaker 4: and bring back a fintaged performance.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It reminds me of Open Gym, Buck, where you go
- 35:49Speaker 1: to Open Gym and you got the two old guys
- 35:51Speaker 1: and they're like, Okay, well, hey we're making the teams.
- 35:53Speaker 1: We got to give them a couple of these high
- 35:55Speaker 1: school college kids so they have a little more athleticism,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and then they lose, and then all of a sudden,
- 35:59Speaker 1: you see a couple other old guys walking with the
- 36:01Speaker 1: with the calfhi socks on it, like, hey, get these
- 36:03Speaker 1: young guys out of here. Come over here, guys, you
- 36:05Speaker 1: get forty five year olds, come play with us. And
- 36:07Speaker 1: then they just run the court against all the younger
- 36:09Speaker 1: guys like that's that's.
- 36:11Speaker 2: What the Pittsburgh Steelers like.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Hey, Robin Wilson and Yoo, four to three athletic, we're good,
- 36:16Speaker 1: adam feelings.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Get over here, Come on over here.
- 36:20Speaker 1: They got so they got young, and they didn't like it, Baldy.
- 36:23Speaker 2: They're like, no, we got it. We gotta go back
- 36:25Speaker 2: to the vets. The guy that's I think.
- 36:27Speaker 3: I mean, this is four weeks in a row now, Well,
- 36:29Speaker 3: Lamar doesn't look and I know he's been he's had
- 36:31Speaker 3: an ankle, he's had the he's not limping or anything
- 36:34Speaker 3: out there like a no juice, like he cannot. He
- 36:37Speaker 3: does not have those splash run plays on scrambles right now.
- 36:41Speaker 3: They're just not there now where that's just you know,
- 36:43Speaker 3: eight years now of just getting beat up and hitting
- 36:46Speaker 3: everything else. But he does not have that ability at
- 36:50Speaker 3: least over the last month. Yesterday Pittsburgh did a good
- 36:53Speaker 3: job of containing him. Ran for a couple of first downs,
- 36:56Speaker 3: but nothing like where we've seen him just just run
- 36:59Speaker 3: by people. Like he's not doing that right now, and
- 37:02Speaker 3: I don't know that we're going to see that, you
- 37:04Speaker 3: know from Lamar Again.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Well, I was gonna say, when was the last time
- 37:07Speaker 4: we really saw that, Like, we haven't seen him be
- 37:10Speaker 4: the explosive thing. And the one thing about Lamar that's
- 37:12Speaker 4: different than Josh Allen Josh Allen size enables him to
- 37:17Speaker 4: play a different way. Yeah, like he can he can
- 37:20Speaker 4: still kind of grind it and do it or whatever.
- 37:23Speaker 4: But one of the things that we've talked about, Look,
- 37:25Speaker 4: year eight is great normally with these dynamic athletes at quarterback.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Year ten is when it's kind of done. And I'm
- 37:34Speaker 4: not saying that it's done for Lamar, but like let's
- 37:36Speaker 4: just talk about like from Michael Vick to Cam Newton
- 37:39Speaker 4: or whatever, year ten is kind of the line. And
- 37:42Speaker 4: if their games don't develop otherwise where they become very
- 37:47Speaker 4: efficient pocket passes, were they able to use other tools,
- 37:51Speaker 4: then it becomes very very hard for them to maneuver
- 37:55Speaker 4: in this league and I'm not saying that Lamar is done,
- 37:57Speaker 4: but I am just saying he has to transition to
- 38:00Speaker 4: being another player if he doesn't have that.
- 38:02Speaker 3: There's a play at the end of the game where
- 38:05Speaker 3: Lamar steps up in the pocket and he's throwing to
- 38:09Speaker 3: DeAndre Hopkins in the back of the end zone and
- 38:13Speaker 3: Mark Andrews is on a crosser and he thinks the
- 38:16Speaker 3: balls to him, and you know, Joey Porter's on him
- 38:19Speaker 3: and the ball gets deflected or whatever. But I mean,
- 38:23Speaker 3: you could see DeAndre Hopkins just sitting there, just waiting
- 38:26Speaker 3: on the touchdown which is going to give him the
- 38:28Speaker 3: lead at that point twenty eight, twenty seven, and Lamar.
- 38:32Speaker 3: You can see Lamar go no, no, no, like I've
- 38:36Speaker 3: got to throw. CBS really didn't show any kind of
- 38:39Speaker 3: a replay of that reaction right there, But just watching
- 38:42Speaker 3: on tape this morning, like Lamar, I thought he had,
- 38:45Speaker 3: you know, at least the winning touchdown.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Whether it was the go ahead.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Touchdown, whether it's gonna be the winner or not, I
- 38:51Speaker 3: don't know, but he had him right in his periscope.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I want to get to one last game and then
- 38:58Speaker 1: we'll let let Baldi get out of here. I appreciate
- 39:00Speaker 1: you doing the savery week, Baldy. We've got Tennessee Cleveland.
- 39:03Speaker 1: You say, why are we talking about this game? Because
- 39:05Speaker 1: we got two rookie quarterbacks out there. Cam Ward gets
- 39:08Speaker 1: to win a big win for Tennessee. Schador did some
- 39:12Speaker 1: really nice things on the other side, and is to
- 39:15Speaker 1: me going to lead to one of the more interesting discussions,
- 39:18Speaker 1: which is everybody talking about, well, they need to let
- 39:21Speaker 1: him start for the remainder of the season. I'm like,
- 39:23Speaker 1: of course, who's saying that they shouldn't. I'm sure that
- 39:26Speaker 1: decision was made a week ago, like, let's give him
- 39:28Speaker 1: the runway to see what he can do. Did some
- 39:30Speaker 1: really nice things, so to me, absolutely give the rest
- 39:34Speaker 1: of this year see what you have. But when you
- 39:35Speaker 1: look at them with Cleveland and with what Tyler Shuck
- 39:39Speaker 1: is done in New Orleans, and you marry that up
- 39:41Speaker 1: with a quarterback class that doesn't look as exciting as
- 39:44Speaker 1: maybe it would have before the season started. I think
- 39:46Speaker 1: you're going to see some of these young guys get
- 39:48Speaker 1: more than just this year, Baldy. I think you're going
- 39:50Speaker 1: to see these guys get it next year as well.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Well.
- 39:52Speaker 3: It's pretty interesting because, like Shador had forty four pass attempts.
- 39:57Speaker 3: I thought he played very well. You know, when it's
- 40:01Speaker 3: time to move, he moves. But when it's time to
- 40:03Speaker 3: just sit there and make the thrown into the zone,
- 40:06Speaker 3: he did. I'm not I don't really understand taking him
- 40:08Speaker 3: off the field for the two point try. Like maybe
- 40:10Speaker 3: that play looked good on Friday in practice, then't look
- 40:13Speaker 3: like the kid just took him down the field twice
- 40:16Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter from down thirty one seventeen. He's
- 40:19Speaker 3: got him right there on the door, Like, give him
- 40:21Speaker 3: a chance to at least hit the two point try.
- 40:23Speaker 3: But I thought, I mean, if Cam Woarre is the
- 40:26Speaker 3: number one pick and nobody argued that, and Chador is
- 40:29Speaker 3: the fifth round pick, you couldn't if you didn't know
- 40:32Speaker 3: who either one of those guys were, and just watch him,
- 40:34Speaker 3: you'd say Chador is just every bit as good as
- 40:37Speaker 3: Cam Woard. Maybe he doesn't have the torque on the
- 40:39Speaker 3: ball that Cam can can deliver, But that touchdown to
- 40:43Speaker 3: Jerry Judy was a laser and it was in stride.
- 40:46Speaker 3: It was you can't throw it any better than that,
- 40:48Speaker 3: and that's through a snowstorm and a blizzard. I thought
- 40:51Speaker 3: Schador played really well. The offensive line around him been
- 40:54Speaker 3: very good. Both kids are thrown to nothing but rookies
- 40:57Speaker 3: like it's it's an all rookie class and Cleveland, So
- 41:01Speaker 3: I thought it was a pretty good game just to
- 41:03Speaker 3: go watch those two players for just comp and just
- 41:05Speaker 3: go there's one really the first pick in the draft
- 41:08Speaker 3: and there was one really the fifth round picking this draft.
- 41:12Speaker 4: I think what it did is like for me, it
- 41:15Speaker 4: helped me make sure that my eyes are still okay.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Like I can't remember where where d DJ had Chadur
- 41:21Speaker 2: in the final thing. I know he didn't have him
- 41:23Speaker 2: at one hundred and forty four. He was at twenty.
- 41:26Speaker 1: So cam Ord was eight, cam Word was eight for
- 41:28Speaker 1: me and Shador Sanders was twenty. So it wasn't five
- 41:32Speaker 1: rounds where the difference yeah.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Right, right and so and so that's that's the thing,
- 41:37Speaker 4: because like the eye even.
- 41:39Speaker 2: In looking at Shador in Colorado and watching.
- 41:41Speaker 4: Me Cleveland, like okay, like I could see all the flaws,
- 41:44Speaker 4: but still this is a guy that rates in that
- 41:46Speaker 4: range where we talked about most of the time, first
- 41:49Speaker 4: round obviously whatever you want to do, he.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Was in that.
- 41:52Speaker 4: What we had a chance to see is him play,
- 41:55Speaker 4: and you saw the good and the bad. But the
- 41:57Speaker 4: good is good because he can throw it on time,
- 42:00Speaker 4: he can deliver, He does move around well enough to
- 42:04Speaker 4: escape the biggest issue that he's always had is drifting.
- 42:08Speaker 4: When he drifts and takes bad sacks in those things,
- 42:11Speaker 4: and he's done a better job of cleaning that up.
- 42:14Speaker 4: The Browns have to make the decision when they're looking
- 42:17Speaker 4: at Shoulder. It's should dure versus Mendoza, shouldure versus people
- 42:23Speaker 4: in that next class to see if you want to
- 42:26Speaker 4: run it back next year to then go shoulder versus
- 42:30Speaker 4: twenty twenty seven, because I think that has to be
- 42:32Speaker 4: the conversation, because we've talked about this next class coming
- 42:35Speaker 4: up being.
- 42:38Speaker 2: If I am the Browns, they might be.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Better served to build up the other parts of the
- 42:42Speaker 4: roster before you attack the quarterback position.
- 42:46Speaker 1: If they draft as well next year as they did
- 42:49Speaker 1: this year, they're ready to roll. And I saw a
- 42:51Speaker 1: stat that blew me away that was floating on social media.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I haven't had a chance to check it. By the way,
- 42:56Speaker 1: Gavin said in the chat that Stefanski made it official
- 42:59Speaker 1: Shore it's going to be quarterback for the rest of
- 43:00Speaker 1: the season.
- 43:01Speaker 2: That's seemed obvious you know that they had to do that.
- 43:04Speaker 1: But in the last forty years, four zero forty years
- 43:08Speaker 1: that the Cleveland Browns have five winning seasons and they've
- 43:12Speaker 1: been to the playoffs three times in forty years.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I mean, look, I was only there for two and
- 43:19Speaker 2: I had one winning season.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I feel like my batting average is way above average
- 43:23Speaker 1: there in my two years in Cleveland. But goodness gracious,
- 43:26Speaker 1: that is it takes a lot to get that turned around, Baldi.
- 43:30Speaker 1: But I'm telling you, with all the ammunition they have
- 43:32Speaker 1: with draft picks, if Shador can hit and it looks
- 43:34Speaker 1: like he is right now, and you can use those
- 43:37Speaker 1: draft picks to move around the board or maybe trade
- 43:39Speaker 1: some for veteran guys and continue to draft good players,
- 43:42Speaker 1: like it's going to be an exciting team that could
- 43:44Speaker 1: put that that number in the rearview mirror and start
- 43:47Speaker 1: having some winning seasons.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I mean, Jeffrey Summing is all over a number of
- 43:51Speaker 2: times in that game in the pocket and pressure, he
- 43:53Speaker 2: does not he does not flinch.
- 43:55Speaker 3: He does not flinch when guys are around him, Like
- 43:58Speaker 3: he stands tall to pocket, is feet calm, Like there's
- 44:01Speaker 3: so many good things to like about what we saw.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yester I mean you you know.
- 44:05Speaker 3: You just look at some of the guys are coming
- 44:08Speaker 3: after Martin Key whatever, like like when it's time to
- 44:11Speaker 3: spin out. I agree with you, Buck, he probably does
- 44:12Speaker 3: drift to too frequently. He's trying to make every play
- 44:16Speaker 3: a good play. He could do that at Colorado and
- 44:17Speaker 3: you're not going to do that in the NFL. But
- 44:19Speaker 3: at the same time, he got out of harm's way
- 44:21Speaker 3: a bunch and made some good throws extending plays and
- 44:25Speaker 3: those aren't good conditions to you know, to throw the
- 44:28Speaker 3: ball in. But it didn't seem like it bothered him
- 44:30Speaker 3: at all.
- 44:31Speaker 2: Nope, and Buck.
- 44:32Speaker 1: The last thing as we wrap this thing up, we
- 44:35Speaker 1: talked about this with Ben Johnson's comments, you know before
- 44:38Speaker 1: this last game, I know they didn't win, and we
- 44:40Speaker 1: talked about it with Jim Harbaugh and when he went
- 44:42Speaker 1: to Stanford, like to turn around a perennial loser, you
- 44:46Speaker 1: need you need a cockiness, you need a brashness, you
- 44:50Speaker 1: need someone to say that not this, I know what's
- 44:52Speaker 1: gone on here before. That's not me, and that is
- 44:55Speaker 1: I mean, that's Schador. Signetti was the other one we
- 44:57Speaker 1: talked about like that who came in as I don't
- 44:59Speaker 1: care about Indiana history, like I don't lose this is
- 45:01Speaker 1: who I am, and I feel like that's your door's
- 45:04Speaker 1: kind of to be honestly, it's kind of exactly what
- 45:07Speaker 1: they needed from that standpoint.
- 45:09Speaker 4: I mean, he has certainly given him that that delusional confidence.
- 45:13Speaker 4: I thought what was interesting was Jeffrey Simmons' comments about
- 45:16Speaker 4: Shuder afterwards and when they engaged in the back and
- 45:19Speaker 4: forth and the conversation in trash talk and all that
- 45:22Speaker 4: other stuff, and just how he didn't flinch and how
- 45:24Speaker 4: he gave it just like he was getting it.
- 45:26Speaker 2: To me. It's all interesting.
- 45:28Speaker 4: And I don't know where the Browns are going after
- 45:31Speaker 4: the season as it relates to like their composition of
- 45:34Speaker 4: coaching staff and all this other stuff. But it is
- 45:37Speaker 4: shocking to me that you tell me that this team
- 45:40Speaker 4: five winning seasons, three playoff appearances in forty years.
- 45:42Speaker 2: That is how is that possible? That is unbelievable. And
- 45:46Speaker 2: always picked at the top of the draft.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Yeah you know, we're yeah, you getting getting a chance
- 45:50Speaker 1: to get good players every year, right, That's insane.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Hey, Baldy, you're the best, buddy. Appreciate you.
- 45:56Speaker 1: We always love these mondays man. We'll see you next week. Yep,
- 46:00Speaker 1: there he goes. Uh Baldy's breakdowns gear. By the way,
- 46:03Speaker 1: we'll get you some of that Christmas time. Great for
- 46:06Speaker 1: somebody out there, Hey buck, Uh one more win, buddy
- 46:11Speaker 1: winning one more win?
- 46:12Speaker 2: Get the Christian State championship here. That's so crazy and
- 46:17Speaker 2: it's come. So where's your game?
- 46:19Speaker 1: Is that they're playing Buyna Park. Boyna Park High School
- 46:22Speaker 1: is where they're going to play that game Friday, four pm.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I believe against the fighting Hardy Nickerson's and Bishop Odout
- 46:31Speaker 1: home of Elijah Verett, Tucker, Javon Holland. They've got they
- 46:34Speaker 1: got a running back that's really good. So the Patriots
- 46:36Speaker 1: got their hands full here. But it's been man, you've
- 46:39Speaker 1: been on it. It's it's so fun.
- 46:41Speaker 2: It's sixteen games. This will be their sixteenth game. High
- 46:44Speaker 2: school at they're going to be practicing doing an exam
- 46:48Speaker 2: week basically. Yeah, we all they have finals this week.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yeah like like like it is. It is a fun ride,
- 46:54Speaker 2: is a long ride. It takes to stamming to be
- 46:56Speaker 2: able to do it. But now that you're here, you
- 46:58Speaker 2: want to get it done. You know what I'm saying.
- 46:59Speaker 2: You want to find a way to get it done.
- 47:01Speaker 2: So it should be fun. Hardy nickoson squad, Oh yeah,
- 47:03Speaker 2: tough guys. Yeah, there'll be a tough team. So looking
- 47:05Speaker 2: forward to it again. High school football. There's nothing better.
- 47:08Speaker 2: So fun.
- 47:08Speaker 1: It's been a fun of all. All right, that's gonna
- 47:11Speaker 1: do it for us. We appreciate you guys hanging. We'll
- 47:12Speaker 1: see it tomorrow. Red's gonna join us. New father of
- 47:15Speaker 1: a baby girl, going to join us to talk some
- 47:16Speaker 1: college football tomorrow, So looking forward to that one. We'll
