- 1:19Speaker 3: Service Center, twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the
- 1:22Speaker 3: post office in College Station. Welcome here, Glad to have
- 1:26Speaker 3: you with us. It is a Monday, Yes, it is.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I back from parts unknown. This portion of the program
- 1:37Speaker 3: is brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine. And
- 1:42Speaker 3: i know You're not going to believe this, but I've
- 1:44Speaker 3: had four weeks to prepare for this one show and
- 1:47Speaker 3: it's going to be pretty good. The guru of college football,
- 1:51Speaker 3: Phil Steele, is going to join me here in a
- 1:54Speaker 3: few moments. In fact, Phil is going to join me
- 1:58Speaker 3: today and tomorrow because we have so much to talk about.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Today we will talk about in general everybody but the SEC.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And tomorrow we'll talk about the SEC in Texas, A
- 2:15Speaker 3: and M with Phil Steele. At the bottom of the hour,
- 2:20Speaker 3: our first SEC football preview. The Tennessee volunteers are on
- 2:28Speaker 3: deck for our first report. In the second hour, Rusty
- 2:35Speaker 3: Berson is going to join me. It is trading day
- 2:39Speaker 3: in Major League Baseball. We will talk about who did
- 2:44Speaker 3: and who did not get traded. So that is show
- 2:51Speaker 3: number one dog gone. I know, normally I say we
- 2:59Speaker 3: try to do one good show a week. I think
- 3:02Speaker 3: tomorrow might be pretty good as well with the return
- 3:06Speaker 3: of Phil Steele. So we've got that going on, which
- 3:11Speaker 3: is nice. Like I said, it's trading deadline in Major
- 3:19Speaker 3: League Baseball. Jacob de Gram, according to The Athletic, has
- 3:24Speaker 3: told the Rangers no, he has a no trade clause.
- 3:29Speaker 3: He wants to stay with the team. He has a
- 3:34Speaker 3: five year, one hundred and eighty five million dollars contract
- 3:38Speaker 3: and is under contract through next season. It's also believed
- 3:47Speaker 3: that the Rangers had approached other players with no trade clauses,
- 3:52Speaker 3: including Corey Seeger and Nathan Valdi. No, that's me, sorry,
- 3:58Speaker 3: but as of right now, it doesn't appear the Rangers
- 4:07Speaker 3: are going to move those big contract, big name people.
- 4:14Speaker 3: They have acquired left handed pitcher Adam Maco from the
- 4:18Speaker 3: Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Josh Smith and minor
- 4:23Speaker 3: league pitcher Josh Steven and they have designated for assignment
- 4:32Speaker 3: right handed pitcher Chris Martin, who is one hundred and
- 4:36Speaker 3: three years old and had an ERA of nine so
- 4:40Speaker 3: far this year for the Rangers. The Rangers have lost
- 4:46Speaker 3: five in a row. They are under five hundred by
- 4:52Speaker 3: two games. They are two and a half games behind
- 4:56Speaker 3: the Astros, and they begin a homestead and with the
- 5:01Speaker 3: San Francisco Giants. Cal quantrill Is on the mountain tonight.
- 5:06Speaker 3: For the Rangers, they're entering a period in which they're
- 5:11Speaker 3: playing teams with records quite a bit below five hundred,
- 5:15Speaker 3: but that's never stopped the Rangers. Before the Astros are rolling.
- 5:21Speaker 3: They're in first place, winners of six in a row.
- 5:26Speaker 3: They are hosting Toronto. We will have that game for
- 5:30Speaker 3: you tonight at six forty here on the Zone. Christian
- 5:35Speaker 3: Javier is back will get the start, his fifth start
- 5:42Speaker 3: of the year and only his second start since returning
- 5:46Speaker 3: from the IL. The Blue Jays, said Shane Bieber to
- 5:52Speaker 3: the Mound, they are a disappointing fifty two and sixty.
- 5:58Speaker 3: The Boston Red Sox and made a blockbuster trade for
- 6:02Speaker 3: Orioles catcher Adlie Rushman, five player deal for Baltimore, including
- 6:12Speaker 3: pitching prospect Anthony Ianson. Rushman long considered the core piece
- 6:18Speaker 3: of the rebuild in Baltimore. Not exactly sure what the
- 6:22Speaker 3: Orioles are doing. The Phillies acquired veteran infielder and three
- 6:29Speaker 3: time batting champ Luis Aures from the Giants. Right handed
- 6:37Speaker 3: reliever Caleb Killian going from the Giants to the Phillies.
- 6:43Speaker 3: So Areys rebounded from a disappointing year a year ago.
- 6:51Speaker 3: We'll see and there'll be others. The deadline is less
- 6:55Speaker 3: than an hour away. We will hear about deals after
- 7:00Speaker 3: the deadline as well. The Brewers ace Jacob Misroski, knowing
- 7:06Speaker 3: he has not been traded, he is calling out the
- 7:10Speaker 3: ground screw at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, saying the pitching
- 7:15Speaker 3: mound was quote awful, one of the worst I've had,
- 7:19Speaker 3: dry rock hard. It was bad. Misroski gave up two
- 7:24Speaker 3: runs in seven innings, struck out ten asked the crew
- 7:29Speaker 3: to come out to adjust the mound multiple times during
- 7:33Speaker 3: the game, but he said the loss was his. I'm
- 7:41Speaker 3: not blaming the mound. Misroski, who throws like a thousand
- 7:45Speaker 3: miles an hour, has been pretty good this year. USC
- 7:49Speaker 3: and Notre Dame announced they're renewing their rivalry in twenty
- 7:54Speaker 3: thirty with a four game series that will feature back
- 7:58Speaker 3: to back season openers. They started playing in nineteen twenty six.
- 8:06Speaker 3: They played ninety five times. USC said it wanted to
- 8:14Speaker 3: continue playing, but facing Notre Dame late in the season
- 8:20Speaker 3: affected its playoff chances, which is interesting because you know
- 8:25Speaker 3: they had done a lot under Lincoln Riley, and the
- 8:29Speaker 3: Aggie basketball team is spending time in the Bahamas. They
- 8:37Speaker 3: played Victoria this afternoon and won one hundred and twelve
- 8:43Speaker 3: to eighty eight at the Baheamar Resort in NASA. Seven
- 8:50Speaker 3: players in double figures. Mackenzie Imbaco and PJ. Haggerty led
- 8:57Speaker 3: the scoring, and Bacco had six seventeen. Haggerty, who was
- 9:02Speaker 3: a leading scorer in Division one last year, had sixteen.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Zach Clements had thirteen, Jamie Vincent had thirteen, Nico Munday
- 9:17Speaker 3: had fourteen, to Sean Archie had twelve. Jalen Shelley had twelve.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I know a lot of these are new names for
- 9:28Speaker 3: some of you. I think they have a couple of
- 9:30Speaker 3: more games down there, and let's see. They had a
- 9:39Speaker 3: nineteen to two scoring spree in the first half, sixty
- 9:48Speaker 3: to thirty six lead at halftime. They will play tomorrow
- 9:53Speaker 3: afternoon at four o'clock against Toro's De Vai, a profession
- 10:00Speaker 3: old team from Columbia. So there you go. That is
- 10:08Speaker 3: basketball and bucket ball getting to play a little extra
- 10:12Speaker 3: hoop during the summertime, which we always like. I think tomorrow,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I'm not exactly sure, but Scott Spiezio, a former World
- 10:27Speaker 3: Series hero, has a book out about his life which
- 10:35Speaker 3: been a lot of ups and downs. We will and
- 10:38Speaker 3: he also there's also a documentary film out about him,
- 10:43Speaker 3: so we will hear about that tomorrow, I think on
- 10:49Speaker 3: the program and if we're lucky, Mallory will rejoin us.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I think Mallory is still around. You know, I've been
- 10:57Speaker 3: gone a while, and thanks to everybody who helped fill
- 11:03Speaker 3: in during my absence while I'm thinking about it. Normally,
- 11:10Speaker 3: Ryan Starr will be with you on Friddy, but Jared
- 11:14Speaker 3: and Jason will be here on Friday to fill in.
- 11:19Speaker 3: So we've got that going on. Okay, we're going to
- 11:24Speaker 3: take a break. Phil Steel, college football Guru, is going
- 11:32Speaker 3: to join us when we come back. Our SEC preview
- 11:36Speaker 3: starts today. Stay with us. This portion of the program
- 11:41Speaker 3: is brought to you by and Co Insurance.
- 11:44Speaker 7: Enco Insurance is now a part of Hub International, bringing
- 11:48Speaker 7: you more choices, better value, and even greater expertise. While

- 12:06Speaker 7: behind us, more resources, more solutions, Still your team and
- 12:10Speaker 7: co insurance a Hub International company, So you're ready for tomorrow.
- 12:14Speaker 8: The Louis Belina Show presented by CC Electric.
- 12:17Speaker 9: Texas is INIL is double of what an m's.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Is in basketball.
- 12:21Speaker 9: In basketball, how crazy?
- 12:23Speaker 3: Are you serious?
- 12:24Speaker 8: Yes? Are you serious?
- 12:26Speaker 6: Yes?
- 12:27Speaker 3: Because A and m's basketball nil is not chop.
- 12:30Speaker 9: Liver in comparison, it is. I think I mentioned this
- 12:34Speaker 9: last season after A and M played Texas here and
- 12:38Speaker 9: A and M one. You know, Urick is one of
- 12:41Speaker 9: the assistant coaches that was under coach Kennedy here. He's
- 12:45Speaker 9: now with Sean Miller at Texas and I was talking
- 12:47Speaker 9: to him after the game and he was like, all
- 12:50Speaker 9: these boys better get their licks in this year because
- 12:52Speaker 9: we already have people stepping up with money and we're
- 12:54Speaker 9: going to be legit.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Next year, like they already knew at that point.
- 12:59Speaker 9: Don't worry about this season. We've we've got we've got
- 13:02Speaker 9: dollars rolling into fun next year already.
- 13:05Speaker 3: And they still went to the Sweet sixteen last year.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Yeah, hang out with Louis weekdays eleven to two on
- 13:10Speaker 5: the Z on eleven and fifty am and ninety three
- 13:13Speaker 5: point seven.
- 13:13Speaker 8: Firm that song.
- 13:16Speaker 10: I see he's standing there on that loan.
- 13:18Speaker 11: Just gun see stoveball team flip fly and cut off
- 13:22Speaker 11: jeams some Well.
- 13:23Speaker 10: Between that's set and the song I'm on fire, I'm
- 13:26Speaker 10: bowing around.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He looked at me.
- 13:28Speaker 3: I was done.
- 13:30Speaker 8: We just didn't stop, I was saying.
- 13:33Speaker 12: He was saying to.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Me, We're gonna jump out to the Players Fund Center
- 13:37Speaker 3: phone line and visit with the guru of college football.
- 13:40Speaker 3: He is Phil Steel. Phil Steele's College Football Preview is
- 13:45Speaker 3: out for twenty twenty six. It is available at Barnes
- 13:50Speaker 3: and Noble and Books a Million. I hope I got
- 13:52Speaker 3: that right, Phil. You did perfect, awesome, and we will
- 13:59Speaker 3: we will before we're done, give the audience opportunity that
- 14:05Speaker 3: there are ways to connect with you throughout the football season.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 14:11Speaker 8: Chip.
- 14:12Speaker 3: All right, let's get going. Let's explain the difference between
- 14:16Speaker 3: your power pole and your Top forty pole.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, the power pole is where I ranked the team's
- 14:23Speaker 2: power rating wise, and there's just the overall talent of
- 14:26Speaker 2: the team. And then my top forty is where I
- 14:28Speaker 2: rank versus the schedule. So you'll see some group of
- 14:32Speaker 2: six teams up there my top twenty five because I
- 14:35Speaker 2: expect them to win ten games this year, but those
- 14:38Speaker 2: teams are generally not in the top twenty five talent wise,
- 14:41Speaker 2: they'd be behind the power four teams. So the power
- 14:45Speaker 2: pole tells you where they are total strength wise and
- 14:48Speaker 2: the top forty factors in the schedule.
- 14:51Speaker 3: All right, So the first thing that jumps out is
- 14:54Speaker 3: Notre Dame is number one on both.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Phil Yeah, I'm bullish on Notre Dame. This year starts off.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I'm a defensive guy, and last year they held opponents
- 15:04Speaker 2: in ninety five yards per game below their average. They
- 15:06Speaker 2: have nine starters back on defense. This year they have
- 15:09Speaker 2: my number one rated defense, number five d line, number
- 15:12Speaker 2: one linebackers, number one DBS. Now, I'm also on the
- 15:16Speaker 2: Joe Moore Award Committee, one of the twenty one committees
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm on, and the High Value Offensive Line Play. Guess
- 15:22Speaker 2: what I ranked the Irish number one offensive line in
- 15:25Speaker 2: the country. So if you've got the number one offensive line,
- 15:27Speaker 2: number one defense, you're in good shape. Oh how about
- 15:29Speaker 2: an experienced quarterback? CJ. Carr, currently the Heisman front runner,
- 15:33Speaker 2: had a twenty four to six ratio in his first
- 15:36Speaker 2: year as a starter. Last year, he's back along with
- 15:38Speaker 2: his wide receiver Jordan Faison. They add in a couple
- 15:41Speaker 2: of Ohio state transfers and Milin Graham and Quincy Porter.
- 15:44Speaker 2: They get Jaden Greathhouse back from injury. That unit's loaded
- 15:48Speaker 2: and while they lose Jeremiah Love and Jadarian Price. I
- 15:52Speaker 2: like the running back replacements, especially with the surrounding talent
- 15:55Speaker 2: manufactor in the schedule. Toughest two games are at BYU
- 15:59Speaker 2: and home again it's Miami. I got a favorite in
- 16:01Speaker 2: all twelve games. I think they could stay fresh throughout
- 16:04Speaker 2: the season, play a lot of backups. I got the
- 16:06Speaker 2: Irish winning at all this year.
- 16:07Speaker 13: Wow.
- 16:08Speaker 3: And that's one thing that I know you do. Will
- 16:11Speaker 3: you put out your top twenty five? You have to
- 16:14Speaker 3: look at the schedule, don't you fill Oh?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Absolutely, it is huge, And you know sometimes you get
- 16:20Speaker 2: a team that's at the top of the conference pickwise,
- 16:25Speaker 2: but they're playing one of the tougher schedules that usually
- 16:28Speaker 2: drop them down.
- 16:29Speaker 3: All right, so let's and by the way, we'll talk
- 16:34Speaker 3: SEC tomorrow. But you have Georgia two, Ohio State is three,
- 16:39Speaker 3: Indiana is five, Oregon is six. The Big Ten looks
- 16:45Speaker 3: like it's possible they could have a national champion for
- 16:49Speaker 3: the fourth year in a row.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Wouldn't it be remarkable if it was Oregon as well,
- 16:54Speaker 2: because that would be the fourth different team from the
- 16:57Speaker 2: Big Ten in four years to win a national title.
- 17:00Speaker 2: That would be simply remarkable. And you know the thing
- 17:02Speaker 2: about Oregon this year, I did not expect Dante More
- 17:05Speaker 2: to be back. I thought he'd be in the NFL,
- 17:07Speaker 2: a top five draft pick. This year, he's back. The
- 17:10Speaker 2: receiving corpus is banged up. Last year. They're back. All
- 17:14Speaker 2: four starting defensive linement probably could have gone to the NFL.
- 17:18Speaker 2: They're all back. This a loaded Oregon team. They do
- 17:21Speaker 2: have to play Ohio State down the road during the season,
- 17:24Speaker 2: but as Miami and other teams have showed, you could
- 17:27Speaker 2: drop a game or two in the regular season. As
- 17:29Speaker 2: long as you make the playoffs, the best team gets there.
- 17:31Speaker 2: And I think having that defense and Dante More quarterback
- 17:36Speaker 2: they're going to be dangerous this year.
- 17:38Speaker 3: You I think have Indiana higher rated going in the
- 17:42Speaker 3: season than some do. Phil.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I really like the Hoosiers, and you know there's
- 17:48Speaker 2: question marks on quarterback. You're losing Fernando Mendoza. But the
- 17:52Speaker 2: one thing I want to say is going back to
- 17:55Speaker 2: my conversations with coach Signetti. When James Madison moved up
- 17:58Speaker 2: from the FCS to the f it was the first
- 18:00Speaker 2: time I got to talk to him, and we're going
- 18:02Speaker 2: over the roster and he had just lost an All
- 18:04Speaker 2: conference quarterback and they had no experience at QB and
- 18:07Speaker 2: they're moving up from FCS to FBS. So my coach,
- 18:11Speaker 2: I got questions about your quarterback. He's like, Phil, I
- 18:14Speaker 2: have had a All conference quarterback every year i've been
- 18:18Speaker 2: a head coach. I'll have one this year and guess what,
- 18:20Speaker 2: they had one. And he's proven it each and every year.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And I asked him this year how he felt about
- 18:24Speaker 2: the quarterback position, and he said, Hoover's in about the
- 18:27Speaker 2: same shape Mendoza was last year. You got a veteran
- 18:30Speaker 2: quarterback that's throwing for nearly ten thousand yards now under
- 18:33Speaker 2: the toothledge of a guy that produces all conference quarterbacks
- 18:36Speaker 2: every year, plenty of supporting talent all the way across
- 18:39Speaker 2: the board. And when I factor in the schedule Chip,
- 18:42Speaker 2: which we talked about, I only have him. I have
- 18:44Speaker 2: them favored in every game except for one. I got
- 18:47Speaker 2: him a pickum game home against Ohio State. Other than that,
- 18:50Speaker 2: I got favored in eleven games. I think Indiana's a
- 18:53Speaker 2: great shot not only getting back to the playoffs, but
- 18:56Speaker 2: perhaps winning at all.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Well. Could Signetty be your coach of the Year three
- 19:01Speaker 3: years in a.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Row would definite be remarkable. I think Dabbo was twice
- 19:06Speaker 2: in the year once, but Signetty. And I'll tell you what, Chip.
- 19:10Speaker 2: There's been eight teams that have had a bye week.
- 19:13Speaker 2: They've been off for an entire month in the playoff Yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 2: and their opponent has just played the previous week.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Yes.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Seven of those teams lost. Yes, only one guy has
- 19:21Speaker 2: managed to overcome the buye and guess who that was.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So he's pretty good, that's what you're saying.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it exactly. In fact, you know, when I
- 19:31Speaker 2: was talking to coach McGuire in Texas Tech this year
- 19:33Speaker 2: going over the roster with them, one of his main
- 19:36Speaker 2: concerns is how are they going to prepare for that
- 19:39Speaker 2: bye week this year because it really affected him last year.
- 19:42Speaker 2: That was terrible Oregon.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Yeah, they were terrible. Miami of Florida Crystal Ball. We
- 19:48Speaker 3: saw him up close and personal last December, Phil at
- 19:52Speaker 3: Kyle Field. You think this this team is capable of
- 19:56Speaker 3: making another deep run, right?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Oh? Absolutely, They're the most talented team in the ACC
- 20:01Speaker 2: this year Chip when you take a look at him.
- 20:03Speaker 2: They added Darien Menza coming in from Duke. He may
- 20:06Speaker 2: even top what Carson Beck did last year at quarterback,
- 20:09Speaker 2: and he brings his top receiver with him in Barkate,
- 20:13Speaker 2: Cooper Barkate. This year, they joined Mark Fletcher at running back,
- 20:17Speaker 2: who is super impressive in the playoffs.
- 20:19Speaker 3: And that guy, that guy let it up in the playoffs,
- 20:21Speaker 3: didn't he.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's two hundred and twenty five pounds and
- 20:25Speaker 2: it gives you the power. And then you got Malachi
- 20:27Speaker 2: Tony who is one of the most dangerous players in
- 20:30Speaker 2: college football. Just get the ball in his hands. Now,
- 20:33Speaker 2: your biggest question with Miami has got to be offensive line.
- 20:36Speaker 2: They only have one starter back, right, But I have
- 20:39Speaker 2: been talking to Mario christaball since he was the head
- 20:41Speaker 2: coach at Florida International way back when. And this guy
- 20:45Speaker 2: always has a top notch offensive line. So is that
- 20:48Speaker 2: a concern of mine? Not really, Christ of Ball will
- 20:50Speaker 2: develop an offensive line. This a loaded team, the most
- 20:53Speaker 2: talented team in the ACC.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Could Tony win a Heisman?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Quite possibly, especially with all his versatility. You know, he's
- 21:02Speaker 2: a punt returner, he receives, they've run the ball act.
- 21:07Speaker 2: He threw seven passes last year. I think that is
- 21:11Speaker 2: a distinct possibility. I like that pick their chip. Are
- 21:13Speaker 2: you calling for him?
- 21:14Speaker 3: I'm thinking he could. I mean, he's really good. Phil
- 21:18Speaker 3: as you we're gonna jump out to the Player's fund
- 21:26Speaker 3: center Folk.
- 21:27Speaker 8: Hey, the The Louis Bellina Show presented by c C Electric.
- 21:44Speaker 3: I do love discourse.
- 21:45Speaker 4: I love you know, I love difference between I love
- 21:47Speaker 4: getting into a conversation and people being able to change
- 21:49Speaker 4: my mind with facts and like analytics and things that
- 21:52Speaker 4: can really are tangible.
- 21:54Speaker 3: I just don't like when people tell me I've been
- 21:56Speaker 3: a fan of thirty years in my opinion matters more.
- 21:59Speaker 10: No, it doesn't.
- 22:00Speaker 3: It doesn't mean anything to me. I mean, have you
- 22:02Speaker 3: been a fan for forty five years? What's that in
- 22:04Speaker 3: ten cents, Like I said earlier, will give me a dime.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Hang out with Louis week days eleven to two on
- 22:09Speaker 5: the zon elevel and fifty AM and ninety three point
- 22:11Speaker 5: seven MS like Houston Astro. Like Houston Astro, play on
- 22:16Speaker 5: the play on the zone thanks to Kelly Burt Dozer.
- 22:30Speaker 3: The crack now.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Exactly was super impressive in the playoffs.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Man, that guy, that guy let it up in the playoffs,
- 22:43Speaker 3: didn't he?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's two hundred and twenty five pounds and
- 22:47Speaker 2: it gives you the power. And then you got Malachi Tony,
- 22:50Speaker 2: who is one of the most dangerous players in college football.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Just get the ball in his hands. Now, your biggest
- 22:56Speaker 2: question with Miami has got to be offensive line. They
- 22:58Speaker 2: only have one starter back, right. But I have been
- 23:01Speaker 2: talking to Mario Christaball since he was the head coach
- 23:03Speaker 2: at Florida International way back when, and this guy always
- 23:08Speaker 2: has a top notch offensive line. So is that a
- 23:10Speaker 2: concern of mine? Not really? Christ of Ball will develop
- 23:13Speaker 2: an offensive line. This a loaded team, the most talented
- 23:15Speaker 2: team in the ACC.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Could Tony win a Heisman.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Quite possibly, especially with all his versatility. You know, he's
- 23:24Speaker 2: a punt returner he receives, they've run the ball. He
- 23:29Speaker 2: threw seven passes last year. I think that is a
- 23:33Speaker 2: distinct possibility. I like that pick there, Chip, are you
- 23:36Speaker 2: calling for him?
- 23:37Speaker 3: I'm thinking he could. I mean, he's really good phil
- 23:40Speaker 3: as you very well know. Then what was he seventeen
- 23:43Speaker 3: when the season started last year?
- 23:46Speaker 2: That's right, Yeah, so I think that he definitely has
- 23:49Speaker 2: that opportunity.
- 23:50Speaker 3: All right, you mentioned Joey maguire. Let's look at the
- 23:54Speaker 3: Big twelve a little bit. Texas Tech is your favorite,
- 23:57Speaker 3: but also BYU you think they have their best team
- 24:01Speaker 3: in a while.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Yeah, And addressing both those teams, when you look at
- 24:06Speaker 2: Texas Tech this year, you know, I hadn't picked number
- 24:09Speaker 2: one in the magazine, and folks say, well, now, what
- 24:12Speaker 2: do you think without Soresby. I'll be honest with you.
- 24:14Speaker 2: When I wrote the magazine at the start of June,
- 24:16Speaker 2: I was ninety percent sure they're not going to let
- 24:18Speaker 2: Brandon Sorsby play. Yeah, so I listed him as starter,
- 24:22Speaker 2: but in reality, I'm thinking, there's no way this guy's playing.
- 24:25Speaker 2: All my power ratings were adjusted for no Soresby. Then
- 24:28Speaker 2: they announced he's going to play, and I'm like, oh,
- 24:30Speaker 2: I got adjust my power ratings. Then they announced he's
- 24:33Speaker 2: not going to play. So it's back to where I
- 24:34Speaker 2: wrote the magazine. So I feel the exact same way
- 24:37Speaker 2: about Texas Tech as when I wrote the magazine as
- 24:40Speaker 2: I do now. And when you look at their schedule,
- 24:43Speaker 2: you know they play the number eighty one schedule. I
- 24:45Speaker 2: have at least a touchdown favorite in all twelve games.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I agree, I think coach McGuire's best. Our biggest concern
- 24:52Speaker 2: has to be how are we going to contend with
- 24:54Speaker 2: that bye week? Because they are loaded this year, tons
- 24:56Speaker 2: of talent both sides of the ball, and they replaced
- 24:59Speaker 2: all the defensive guys with NFL caliber defensive guys. Money
- 25:03Speaker 2: tucks in today's nil era and that with Byu. I've
- 25:07Speaker 2: been talking to coach Skataki all eleven years, has been
- 25:09Speaker 2: a head coach, and after I got off the phone
- 25:12Speaker 2: with them hung up. I'm like, this is the best
- 25:14Speaker 2: team coach Skataki has had in his eleven years. They
- 25:17Speaker 2: are massive on the offensive line, they go three deep there,
- 25:20Speaker 2: their defensive front seven outstanding in While they lose a
- 25:23Speaker 2: linebacker like Jack Kelly, they replace them with Kata Lave
- 25:26Speaker 2: coming in from Cal it's a loaded team. And how
- 25:28Speaker 2: about last year Beer Brockmeyer didn't even join the team
- 25:31Speaker 2: until the fall. Yeah, now he's been there and it's
- 25:34Speaker 2: a lot of fun watching number forty seven at quarterback.
- 25:37Speaker 2: They also return LJ. Martin at running back. They don't
- 25:40Speaker 2: play Texas Tech during the regular season, and I know
- 25:43Speaker 2: the Big Twelve title game last year was thirty four
- 25:47Speaker 2: to seven. I think if they line up against Texas
- 25:49Speaker 2: Tech again this year, it'd be a much better game.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Okay, while I'm thinking about it, BYU is one of
- 25:57Speaker 3: your surprise teams. One of your top surprise teams. Utah
- 26:01Speaker 3: is also in that list. I tell you what, the
- 26:04Speaker 3: Holy War may be fun this year.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. And last US was a good game, Yes,
- 26:10Speaker 2: And I thought coach Winningham probably went for it on
- 26:13Speaker 2: fourth down a little too much in that one, and
- 26:15Speaker 2: they ended up losing by three points because they got
- 26:17Speaker 2: I think they went for it three times, got stopped
- 26:19Speaker 2: all three times, scoring zero. And I originally thought, okay,
- 26:23Speaker 2: Winningham's gone to four key players, but then going over
- 26:27Speaker 2: the team with coach Scalley, as long as they developed
- 26:30Speaker 2: the offensive line and defensive line, which he feels confident
- 26:33Speaker 2: they could he felt they were better coming out of
- 26:35Speaker 2: the spring. They've got the offense with Devin Dampier and
- 26:38Speaker 2: Bird Fickland. They've got the running backs with Parker and Bray,
- 26:41Speaker 2: They've got talent on the defensive side of the ball,
- 26:43Speaker 2: and they've got a manageable schedule. I rate at number
- 26:45Speaker 2: sixty two in the country road games this year against
- 26:48Speaker 2: Iowa State, Colorado, Cincinnati, Arizona, and TCU. The latter two
- 26:53Speaker 2: would be the toughest to road games. And then, of course,
- 26:56Speaker 2: as you mentioned, the Holy War against BYU November seven,
- 27:00Speaker 2: that's might just determine who plays Texas Tech in that
- 27:03Speaker 2: Big twelve title game.
- 27:04Speaker 3: All right, before I let you go, Phil, a couple
- 27:07Speaker 3: of just some thumbnails on a couple of State of
- 27:10Speaker 3: Texas teams. You like SMU, A lot of people like
- 27:13Speaker 3: SMU this year.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Kevin Jennings was playing with a bum ankle last year.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Half his interceptions weren't his fault. I think he's a
- 27:21Speaker 2: Heisman contender. And remember SMU was one win away from
- 27:27Speaker 2: playing in the ACC title game for a second straight year.
- 27:29Speaker 2: They just blew that col game. And what they do
- 27:32Speaker 2: they got that scored the winning touchdown against some Kendrick Rafael. Oh,
- 27:36Speaker 2: let's go bring him in as their running back. So
- 27:37Speaker 2: if you can't beat them, join him. He's added to
- 27:40Speaker 2: the offense. I think they're a team that is an
- 27:42Speaker 2: ACC contender.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Willie Fritz and Houston. Willie Fritz is one ever where
- 27:47Speaker 3: he's been and this program looks like it's on the
- 27:50Speaker 3: way up.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and they've got you know, Fritz never had a
- 27:54Speaker 2: five star quarterback before. Now he's got two in Connor
- 27:57Speaker 2: Wigman and Keyshawn Henderson, and rated quarterback out of high school.
- 28:01Speaker 2: This year they had in one thousand yard rusher and
- 28:04Speaker 2: Mackay Hughes. Hughes actually ran for one thousand yards under
- 28:07Speaker 2: Willie Fritz at Tulane. So I like that defense looks
- 28:11Speaker 2: really really solid this year. The only negative on Houston
- 28:14Speaker 2: they have to play at Texas Tech and at Utah
- 28:18Speaker 2: and also at Kansas State and at West Virginia. It's
- 28:21Speaker 2: a pretty tough Big twelve schedule with that road slate,
- 28:24Speaker 2: five Big twelve road games, none of them in an
- 28:26Speaker 2: easy spot.
- 28:27Speaker 3: And you like TCU a little bit going into the year, Phil, Yeah.
- 28:31Speaker 2: And I was talking to coach Dike's and he felt
- 28:34Speaker 2: that the last two years. The two nine to four
- 28:36Speaker 2: seasons they had very disappointing. He wants more and I
- 28:41Speaker 2: am high on their quarterback, Jaden Craig. Jaden Craig is
- 28:45Speaker 2: six three, two hundred and thirty pounds, probably would have
- 28:48Speaker 2: been a fifth round draft pick this year. He's got
- 28:50Speaker 2: three years experience playing in the IVY League for Harvard,
- 28:55Speaker 2: and I think he's going to step in and be
- 28:56Speaker 2: an NFL prospect this year. Cut down on the turnover
- 29:00Speaker 2: and all of a sudden, TCUs can be highly competitive.
- 29:03Speaker 2: One area where they're strong. Coach Sdyke said that the
- 29:06Speaker 2: offensive line is the best they've had in a long time.
- 29:09Speaker 2: He said the defensive line is the best they've had
- 29:11Speaker 2: in a long time. If you're strong at the line
- 29:13Speaker 2: of scrimmage's got a good quarterback, you're a threat, all right.
- 29:16Speaker 3: This is why this guy's the guru. Phil tell folks
- 29:20Speaker 3: the best way to get a magazine and the best
- 29:24Speaker 3: way to keep in touch with you throughout the football season.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You're a heck of a guy, Jip. The magazine is
- 29:30Speaker 2: three hundred and seventy six pages. It's got a two
- 29:33Speaker 2: full pages on all one hundred and thirty eight teams,
- 29:37Speaker 2: but It's only available at Barnes and Noble and Books
- 29:40Speaker 2: and Millions, so it's the only two brick and mortar
- 29:42Speaker 2: stores Savior Gas, Barnes and Noble Books a Million. Or
- 29:45Speaker 2: you could go online at Phil Steel dot com. If
- 29:47Speaker 2: you get the magazine there, I'm going to charge you
- 29:49Speaker 2: a shipping charge across the ship things, but we also
- 29:52Speaker 2: give you the digital magazine absolutely free. We also have
- 29:55Speaker 2: an FCS magazine if you follow FCS football, two full
- 29:59Speaker 2: pages on every FCS team. That's available at Phil Steel
- 30:03Speaker 2: dot com and you can follow me on Twitter at
- 30:05Speaker 2: Phil Steele zero four two.
- 30:08Speaker 3: And it's spelled s T E E l E. I
- 30:11Speaker 3: want to get that out there.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Phil appreciate that. Chips and Chip, I want to thank
- 30:17Speaker 2: you for having me on since the first year of
- 30:19Speaker 2: the magazine. You're a heck of a guy. I remember.
- 30:22Speaker 2: If not for you in the early days, we might
- 30:25Speaker 2: not be where we are.
- 30:29Speaker 3: The miracle as I'm still here, so we'll keep doing
- 30:35Speaker 3: this as long as we're possibly able. Now tomorrow Phil
- 30:38Speaker 3: is going to join us. We're going to hone in
- 30:40Speaker 3: on the SEC and Texas A and M. Phil, I
- 30:43Speaker 3: always appreciate the knowledge.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Great it wouldn't be summer if I didn't get to
- 30:47Speaker 2: talk to Chip. Thanks for having me on today.
- 30:50Speaker 3: That's Phil Steel and he has built an empire. I mean,
- 30:56Speaker 3: this magazine is the go to in collegeotball for us
- 31:03Speaker 3: around here. Obviously we all grew up with Texas football.
- 31:06Speaker 3: We could not wait for Texas football to come out.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Remember that, I mean, and still around. But this is
- 31:15Speaker 3: all of college football and he does an unbelievable job
- 31:19Speaker 3: with it. And like I said, tomorrow SEC, Texas A
- 31:25Speaker 3: and M, we will do that. We're going to take
- 31:28Speaker 3: a break, We're going to come back. We've got our
- 31:31Speaker 3: first SEC football preview. This is the first of seventeen
- 31:39Speaker 3: sixteen teams. And then we have the most listened to
- 31:45Speaker 3: radio program we've determined in the world, and that is
- 31:48Speaker 3: our prediction show when all of this is over, And
- 31:52Speaker 3: I'll give you a date in a minute. I don't
- 31:54Speaker 3: have my calendar up. Well, let me take the time
- 31:58Speaker 3: to do that right now, because I will tell you
- 32:01Speaker 3: exactly because I know that you guys are waiting. You
- 32:05Speaker 3: want to know when that is. It's going to be
- 32:08Speaker 3: August the twenty fifth. Okay, August the twenty fifth is

- 32:26Speaker 3: that will be the climax to this preview. On August
- 32:31Speaker 3: the twenty fifth. All right, it's hot outside. I'm not
- 32:35Speaker 3: telling you anything you don't know, but you know one
- 32:38Speaker 3: place where it's really cool. That's Galleria. Whether it's the
- 32:44Speaker 3: day spa, you know this salon boutique right there on
- 32:53Speaker 3: University at Century Square. There are all kinds of ways

- 34:09Speaker 10: I thirty five ask for the best Ask for Slovatic
- 34:13Speaker 10: Sausage Sausage experts since nineteen fifty seven.
- 34:20Speaker 12: Love's a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring.
- 34:33Speaker 12: Bound by wild desire, I fell into a ring.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Hey, welcome back. Thanks for being with us on this
- 34:46Speaker 3: Monday edition. Again, thank you to everybody that filled in
- 34:51Speaker 3: while we were away. If time permitting, we'll talk about that.
- 34:55Speaker 3: A little bit rusty person will be with us in
- 34:58Speaker 3: the second hour. We've had lots of text back and
- 35:01Speaker 3: forth over the weekend, most of them not great. We
- 35:09Speaker 3: begin our SEC preview today with Tennessee. It's hard to
- 35:12Speaker 3: believe that Josh Hypel is starting his sixth season in Knoxville.
- 35:18Speaker 3: After winning thirty games in three previous years, including a playoff.
- 35:23Speaker 3: The vaults were eight and five a year ago, amidst
- 35:26Speaker 3: questions about Hypel's in game decisions. This year, he breaks
- 35:31Speaker 3: in another new starting quarterback, but he does have returning
- 35:37Speaker 3: thousand yard rusher Deshaun Bishop, who says there will be
- 35:42Speaker 3: help for whoever is behind center.
- 35:59Speaker 14: Obviously, run the you know, there's been some floats about
- 36:02Speaker 14: the breaking the all time season Russian record and doing that.
- 36:07Speaker 14: I believe we've ran the ball really well, So just
- 36:09Speaker 14: trying to set the standard for the run game this
- 36:12Speaker 14: year and just chase that. You know, ultimate, if you
- 36:15Speaker 14: can run the ball, man, you control the game. So
- 36:17Speaker 14: I believe that's going to help the team in a
- 36:18Speaker 14: tremendous way defensively.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Jim Knowles comes to Knoxville from stints at Penn State,
- 36:25Speaker 3: Ohio State, and Oklahoma State. He has seven returning starters,
- 36:30Speaker 3: including linebacker Aaron Carter, who's committed to improving wholeheartedly.
- 36:36Speaker 15: And I feel like me being the leader and the
- 36:39Speaker 15: type of person I am to be able to lead
- 36:41Speaker 15: this team as fairly young in the Saints, but very
- 36:44Speaker 15: uberly talented and give us the best opportunity to go
- 36:47Speaker 15: out and win on Saturdays. It's a great opportunity and
- 36:50Speaker 15: I can't wait to go seeze it.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Tennessee has its biggest games at home Texas, Alabama, LSU
- 36:58Speaker 3: with a road trip to Kyle Field to November. They
- 37:01Speaker 3: do avoid Georgia Ole mess in Oklahoma. Hypel is a
- 37:06Speaker 3: great offensive mind who seems unconcerned about breaking in another quarterback.
- 37:12Speaker 11: I do think it's really important that the guys around
- 37:14Speaker 11: him function and play at a really high level to
- 37:17Speaker 11: limit the negative opportunities or you know, the adverse situations
- 37:23Speaker 11: that a quarterback can be put in. They got to
- 37:26Speaker 11: learn how to take care of the football first and foremost,
- 37:29Speaker 11: but you got to play on a competitive edge and
- 37:31Speaker 11: allow your playmakers to go make plays as well.
- 37:33Speaker 3: And tomorrow we will check out Kentucky. Our SEC preview
- 37:39Speaker 3: is presented by Citizen State Bank MSc opus Werdeman Floring
- 37:44Speaker 3: at First Financial Bank.

- 41:40Speaker 3: lot of demons. And we will talk to him tomorrow
- 41:43Speaker 3: on the program. All right. The Astros Report brought to

- 43:03Speaker 18: the weekend series sweep over the Texas Rangers mark sixth
- 43:06Speaker 18: straight wins and eleven wins out of the last twelve games.
- 43:10Speaker 18: Here's manager Joe has spotted yesterday on how the recent
- 43:12Speaker 18: stretch shows that Houston will be a playoff competitor.
- 43:15Speaker 20: What we need to do. This is the things that
- 43:16Speaker 20: we need to do to get to the postseason right,
- 43:20Speaker 20: regardless of who the opponent is, Like, we need to
- 43:22Speaker 20: play good baseball, starting pitching, bullpen, situational hitting, all those things.
- 43:28Speaker 20: Like you know, we believe and that's all I care.
- 43:31Speaker 20: We believe that we are the best team in the West,
- 43:33Speaker 20: and we know one of the best teams in the
- 43:34Speaker 20: American League. And that's all. That's all it matters to
- 43:36Speaker 20: me and to our club.
- 43:37Speaker 18: Now the focus turns to the Blue Jays visiting for
- 43:39Speaker 18: a three game series. The Astros took two out of
- 43:42Speaker 18: three games when they met back in June. First pitch
- 43:44Speaker 18: is set for seven ten tonight. Christian Javier to start
- 43:47Speaker 18: for Houston with your Houston Astros Report. I'm Jet Nelson, Patty.

- 44:37Speaker 3: Owers raised off for rut around three out past with
- 44:41Speaker 3: the Blacktops. We'd walked to churchs Sunday morning, race Bear
- 44:48Speaker 3: put back to Johns Understand, Hey, thanks for being with us.
- 44:52Speaker 3: It is a Monday edition. It is definitely Monday for me.
- 45:01Speaker 3: And the goal is to remember how to do this
- 45:08Speaker 3: and maybe get a little better as the week goes on.
- 45:12Speaker 3: That's the goal. That doesn't necessarily mean we'll meet all
- 45:16Speaker 3: of that. I believe the players report on Wednesday and
- 45:23Speaker 3: we'll be having some football interviews and the countdown. You
- 45:30Speaker 3: know when when I the countdown begins when I say
- 45:34Speaker 3: it begins, and it begins when we start doing the
- 45:36Speaker 3: SEC preview. Obviously we'll be having Kurt Bowles join us soon.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Tony Catalina will be joining us soon. Robert Sessna will
- 45:49Speaker 3: be back for the Writers Roundtable. Soon, all of these
- 45:55Speaker 3: football features will begin. And then once September hits, man,
- 46:02Speaker 3: it goes quick. It always goes quick. It's the dog
- 46:08Speaker 3: days of summer in Major League Baseball. It's definitely the
- 46:11Speaker 3: dog days if you're a Rangers fan. I thought they
- 46:18Speaker 3: played good baseball against Tampa, and I think Tampa's really good.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Game two of that Tampa series was just pivotal and
- 46:34Speaker 3: every single bounce and everything that happened in that game
- 46:40Speaker 3: in that close That was a close, well played, hard
- 46:45Speaker 3: fought series. They ended up losing the last two of
- 46:51Speaker 3: that series, but I thought they played and pitched well.
- 46:57Speaker 3: That didn't necessarily hit well, but Tampa I had something
- 47:00Speaker 3: to do with that.
- 47:03Speaker 14: And then.
- 47:06Speaker 3: This weekend, you know, I was texting with Rusty and
- 47:11Speaker 3: another Ranger's friend. It's like we're talking about twenty three,
- 47:18Speaker 3: and I said, here's the difference in twenty three. In
- 47:24Speaker 3: twenty three, Corey Seeger was like a Hall of Fame
- 47:32Speaker 3: caliber player. Right A Doley Scarcia had the year of
- 47:39Speaker 3: his career. Several players had career years in twenty three,
- 47:46Speaker 3: which when you win World Series, you know that has
- 47:50Speaker 3: to happen. Well, this weekend, the Rangers didn't have the
- 47:58Speaker 3: real Corey Seeger. I don't know if there will be
- 48:01Speaker 3: another real Cory Seeger. But he's only thirty two. That
- 48:06Speaker 3: is not ancient by any stretch of the imagination. I
- 48:09Speaker 3: still think he has some baseball left. He's too good
- 48:12Speaker 3: a player. For the last two years he hadn't been
- 48:15Speaker 3: very good. But what the Astros have right now is
- 48:19Speaker 3: one of the top one or two or three players
- 48:21Speaker 3: in baseball. You are down. Alvarez has just been unbelievable.
- 48:28Speaker 3: He was named the Player of the Month for July.
- 48:33Speaker 3: If the season ended today, he'd win the triple crowd.
- 48:38Speaker 3: He has been phenomenal. We're gonna hear from Skip Schumacher
- 48:48Speaker 3: of the Rangers, and then in a minute we'll hear
- 48:53Speaker 3: from Joey Spot. But let's hear from Skip Schumacher.
- 48:57Speaker 21: You know, a couple of challenges that didn't go our away,
- 48:59Speaker 21: and so we didn't have and he left high leveraged
- 49:02Speaker 21: moment right there with Jock Peterson on deck. You know,
- 49:06Speaker 21: I I know it's tough. I get it. Todd's been
- 49:09Speaker 21: a really good umpire for a long time, but that
- 49:12Speaker 21: moment is a big call, crucial call that you just
- 49:15Speaker 21: got to get right. And I felt like it was
- 49:18Speaker 21: a a chance to make a difference in the game.
- 49:21Speaker 21: With Jock on deck, are you know, arguably our hottest
- 49:23Speaker 21: hitter with bases loaded and take a chance. But it's
- 49:27Speaker 21: it's hard, I get it, and so it felt like
- 49:30Speaker 21: it was a state my case. Well, Tampa. Tampa did
- 49:34Speaker 21: a really good job against us. You know, they're in
- 49:37Speaker 21: first place for a reason. They shut down our offense
- 49:39Speaker 21: when we were feeling really good about ourselves and unfortunately
- 49:43Speaker 21: kind of carried over here in in Houston. Then a
- 49:46Speaker 21: combination of things that happened here. A rocker really good today.
- 49:49Speaker 21: I thought it gives a chance to win, but you know,
- 49:52Speaker 21: there's just a lot of traffic for the other side
- 49:54Speaker 21: on on with the runners in score position. It felt
- 49:57Speaker 21: like almost you know, every inning there was guy on
- 50:00Speaker 21: and base and and they capitalized. So, you know, our offense,
- 50:04Speaker 21: you know, struggled a little bit this this road trip,
- 50:07Speaker 21: and unfortunately the Houston offense was was clicking.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Again.
- 50:11Speaker 21: I've said it before that you know, we're trying to
- 50:13Speaker 21: win each day. That the trade deadline and all that
- 50:15Speaker 21: stuff is for you know, the front office and that
- 50:18Speaker 21: type of thing. The guys in the clubhouse. You know,
- 50:19Speaker 21: we're trying to win, you know, each day series. But
- 50:22Speaker 21: it was a challenging road trip, you know, unfortunately during
- 50:26Speaker 21: this this stretch and we're we're gonna have to get
- 50:28Speaker 21: get right at home.
- 50:30Speaker 3: You know. The call he was talking about in the
- 50:32Speaker 3: seventh was runners two runners on. Nicky Lopez had worked
- 50:39Speaker 3: to count and on a three to two he got
- 50:43Speaker 3: wrung up on a ball that was two inches low.
- 50:47Speaker 3: It was an obvious miscall. Unfortunately, the Rangers had challenged
- 50:56Speaker 3: a couple of other strikes early in the game and
- 50:59Speaker 3: they they both got overturned, and in my opinion, huge mistake,
- 51:08Speaker 3: huge mistake. I saw I was watching, Uh it was
- 51:14Speaker 3: the Dodgers in Red Sox I think last night. Okay,
- 51:18Speaker 3: the Red Sox had a player who challenged a call
- 51:20Speaker 3: third strike and it was an obvious strike. Okay, young kid,
- 51:26Speaker 3: I forget his name. He's been really good. He is
- 51:29Speaker 3: four to seventy seven out of four seventy eight players
- 51:35Speaker 3: and terrible challenges this year. This guy hasn't won a
- 51:39Speaker 3: challenge yet. And the Red Sox had like a three
- 51:43Speaker 3: or four run lead, and it was like the middle
- 51:45Speaker 3: of the game, and he immediately challenges this call third strike.
- 51:49Speaker 3: I'm going, man, anybody can see that's a strike. Everybody
- 51:53Speaker 3: can see that's a strike. Well, it was a strike.
- 51:55Speaker 3: He got run up, and sure enough, this kid's terrible. Right.
- 52:01Speaker 3: If I'm the manager, I'm glad, please do not challenge
- 52:05Speaker 3: any more pitches. And so the Rangers had no challenges
- 52:10Speaker 3: left in this huge situation. I'm and look, they got
- 52:18Speaker 3: out played for three games. Okay, I'm not saying that,
- 52:21Speaker 3: but in this situation, the seventh inning, it was a
- 52:24Speaker 3: tie game, right, it was a tie game, and they
- 52:29Speaker 3: would have had the bases loaded with their hottest hitter,
- 52:32Speaker 3: Jack Peterson coming to the plate, but they didn't have
- 52:35Speaker 3: a challenge. Schumacher got thrown out arguing you can't argue
- 52:41Speaker 3: against the Aps, right, I mean, you just can't. But
- 52:47Speaker 3: that was on them for not having a challenge left
- 52:50Speaker 3: in a critical situation. So when things are going bad,
- 52:55Speaker 3: this kind of stuff that happens. All right, let's hear
- 52:58Speaker 3: from Astro's manager Joe a spotted.
- 53:02Speaker 20: Just playing our our tails off man on both sides
- 53:08Speaker 20: of the ball. The energy the execution, the just the
- 53:12Speaker 20: determination by this club. You know, right now we we
- 53:15Speaker 20: just play our best baseball and just stop to bottom
- 53:20Speaker 20: both sides. Like we're just doing a lot of things
- 53:22Speaker 20: very well. But I love the energy. I love like
- 53:24Speaker 20: we are. We're locked in. We're trying to accomplish something
- 53:28Speaker 20: and and that's that's the type of baseball that you
- 53:31Speaker 20: need to play to accomplish what we try to accomplish.
- 53:33Speaker 20: Ken Smith, big knot starting to get hot again. Kire me,
- 53:37Speaker 20: You're done all tois some Guda bats.
- 53:39Speaker 8: You know.
- 53:39Speaker 20: Wait, that's a big pinch hit. I think he's four
- 53:42Speaker 20: for four with two walks with Basis lowed it. So
- 53:45Speaker 20: coming off the bench, he's done it before. And that's
- 53:47Speaker 20: a bigger bat. And and he came through for us.
- 53:49Speaker 20: We just you know, run the course and and we
- 53:52Speaker 20: we know what we need to do. I want our
- 53:54Speaker 20: attention to be on on on our club, like what
- 53:58Speaker 20: we need to do. This is the things that we
- 53:59Speaker 20: need to do to get to the postseason, right regardless
- 54:03Speaker 20: of who the the opponent is, Like we need to
- 54:05Speaker 20: play good baseball, starting pitching, bullpen, situational hitting, all those things,
- 54:11Speaker 20: like you know, we believe and that's all I care.
- 54:14Speaker 20: We believe that we are the best team in the West,
- 54:16Speaker 20: and we know one of the best teams in the
- 54:17Speaker 20: American League, and that's all. That's all it matters to
- 54:19Speaker 20: to me and to our club, it's let's go out
- 54:21Speaker 20: and take care of business. You know, I thought he
- 54:23Speaker 20: was good. You know, I asked him to, you know,
- 54:26Speaker 20: to pitch on on regular rest. We've asked him to.
- 54:31Speaker 20: You know, he's been taking the ball and grinding for us,
- 54:33Speaker 20: so we got to be really cautious of his workload.
- 54:37Speaker 20: And but man, he gets the ball, let's go, I'm
- 54:39Speaker 20: attacking someone. I'm I'm he just he's got that mentality.
- 54:43Speaker 20: And then our bullpen comes in and again does a
- 54:45Speaker 20: really nice job blew by first career safe. It's awesome stuff.
- 54:50Speaker 3: All right, that's Joe Aspata. Uh, they're playing well, you're on.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Alvarez has reached base in eighteen straight games since July tenth.
- 55:01Speaker 3: He is hitting four thirty eight fifteen runs, eight doubles,
- 55:07Speaker 3: six homers, seventeen RBI, eighteen walks. And the Rangers, God
- 55:13Speaker 3: bless them. I gotta ask Rusty this. They keep pitching
- 55:18Speaker 3: to Jordan Alvarez. I saw a tweet today and I
- 55:22Speaker 3: don't remember who is by going. I swear I'm telling
- 55:26Speaker 3: the truth. I wish that the Rangers would walk Jordon
- 55:32Speaker 3: Alvarez for the rest of his career. And I don't
- 55:38Speaker 3: disagree with that. He he owns the Rangers. Altuvey used to,
- 55:48Speaker 3: but Jordon owns the Rangers, and bye gosh, they keep
- 55:53Speaker 3: pitching to him. They walked him twice Saturday. That wasn't enough.
- 55:59Speaker 3: The bases were loaded last night and the game was
- 56:02Speaker 3: pretty much over because they had already scored a couple
- 56:04Speaker 3: of runs. I think in the eight I told my
- 56:07Speaker 3: wife walk them. They used to walk Barry Bonds with
- 56:09Speaker 3: the bases loaded. They walked Barry Bonds with the bases
- 56:12Speaker 3: loaded all the time, and I said, walk him. Well,
- 56:16Speaker 3: guess what first pitch to run double? Now I don't
- 56:20Speaker 3: know if they would have saved a run by walking him.
- 56:23Speaker 3: It didn't matter. Again at that point, it's too late.
- 56:27Speaker 3: But at what point do you say, Hey, this guy
- 56:32Speaker 3: just really owns us I think we're going to walk him.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Apparently Schumacher hasn't reached that point yet. I hope that
- 56:40Speaker 3: he will. It's too late. Now they're fording, which is
- 56:44Speaker 3: another stupid thing. I just got to get this off
- 56:46Speaker 3: my chest. These teams aren't going to play again. It's
- 56:50Speaker 3: the first weekend in August and they don't play the
- 56:53Speaker 3: Astros again. That is crazy. Okay, enough of that. Oliver

- 57:04Speaker 3: five years. In nineteen sixty one, Garrett, Well, they've been
