- 0:02Speaker 1: Hey, what up, boxing fans. This is the Rope of
- 0:04Speaker 1: Dope radio podcast. I am your host, Chris Carlson. We
- 0:08Speaker 1: are live on a Wednesday afternoon. We have much to discuss.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Obviously Usik taking care of business man. This dude is impressive.
- 0:22Speaker 1: His opponent in the rematch was Daniel Dubois, which you
- 0:26Speaker 1: know after the fight, well even before the fight, you know,
- 0:31Speaker 1: there was reports to him maybe showing up a little
- 0:34Speaker 1: later than normal or late whatever, not getting there all
- 0:39Speaker 1: that early. Of course, I don't really know his schedule normally,
- 0:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But the video came out
- 0:49Speaker 1: and I haven't you know, seen it debunked as far
- 0:53Speaker 1: as that's an old video or whatever, but it sounded
- 0:58Speaker 1: like he was like there was a lot of people
- 1:01Speaker 1: around him at his house. It just did the optics,
- 1:05Speaker 1: whether it actually played any kind of role. It's the
- 1:08Speaker 1: optics of like, wait, what I mean, people have friends
- 1:13Speaker 1: and family around them, especially family and people close to him,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you know, friends and whatnot at their house the day
- 1:20Speaker 1: of the fight. Not everybody sits in silence, you know.
- 1:25Speaker 1: But the optics didn't look good. But you know what
- 1:29Speaker 1: did look good inside the ring? Alexander Usik so no
- 1:35Speaker 1: matter what happened, I don't think that should play a
- 1:41Speaker 1: major part in when unfolded in the ring, So we
- 1:44Speaker 1: will talk about that. Of course. I gotta admit Pakiao
- 1:48Speaker 1: fought a little better than I thought he would. I
- 1:53Speaker 1: guess he did. Look he definitely looked better than he
- 1:56Speaker 1: did that and that exhibition. But he you know, recently
- 1:59Speaker 1: said he did and will even trained for that, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: it sounds like he's gonna continue to carry on. Hopefully
- 2:09Speaker 1: nothing you know, that happens to him at this age,
- 2:14Speaker 1: but it is what it is. You know, Barrios showed
- 2:17Speaker 1: him too much respect. I was okay with the draw.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I actually we'll talk about that, just because neither guy
- 2:25Speaker 1: did enough, you know, so I wasn't really too If
- 2:30Speaker 1: people say pak yea one, I don't have a problem
- 2:32Speaker 1: with that, but I wasn't too freaked out with the draw. Fundora, Wow,
- 2:40Speaker 1: that was his best performance as a pro against Tim Zoo.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Where does he go from here? Figure row against all
- 2:48Speaker 1: is Joette. I thought Joette won the fight. I don't
- 2:51Speaker 1: think there's a major debate there, But you know, was
- 2:55Speaker 1: it as one sided at times as they were saying
- 2:58Speaker 1: in the ring. I don't necessarily think that, but you know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I did think Joett was landing the better punches no
- 3:08Speaker 1: matter what the stats say. So we'll talk about that card.
- 3:12Speaker 1: You know, obviously the Dionne pay per view, the Amazon
- 3:16Speaker 1: pay per view. Yes, we got an afternoon and an
- 3:20Speaker 1: evening pay per view, and then Bam on his own.
- 3:23Speaker 1: We'll talk a little bit about that card. We do
- 3:25Speaker 1: have Xander ziaz and the Horror Hick Garcia and the
- 3:29Speaker 1: last show for ESPN and Top Rank as part of
- 3:32Speaker 1: their deal Clubrisa Shields returns. There's a few shows on
- 3:36Speaker 1: his own, so we'll preview and predict, you know, some
- 3:41Speaker 1: of that action. And you know, as we get into August,
- 3:48Speaker 1: which it's kind of hard to believe, you know, summer
- 3:52Speaker 1: starts and then you're like, what, it's almost August. You know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: NFL training camps are starting soon after college football training
- 4:00Speaker 1: camps to start, and then the summer starts to dwindle down.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But you were in the dog days of the summer
- 4:09Speaker 1: in August. Although there's some fights that I'm interested in,
- 4:12Speaker 1: no doubt about it, it does start to thin out.
- 4:18Speaker 1: So yeah, it's it's a little funky if you look
- 4:21Speaker 1: at what's on the schedule, especially now with Ravonte not
- 4:26Speaker 1: fighting on that targeted August sixteenth day, and if in
- 4:31Speaker 1: fact he was going to fight on that on that date,
- 4:36Speaker 1: we would have had another afternoon and evening pay per
- 4:41Speaker 1: view on one Saturday afternoon. So that that's great, that's great.
- 4:49Speaker 1: So I do want to talk a little bit about
- 4:52Speaker 1: the de zone pay per view stuff. I'll follow up
- 4:55Speaker 1: a little bit about what we talked about last week,
- 4:58Speaker 1: but really this week it's about what Turkey and then
- 5:01Speaker 1: dis Owne said. Turkey came out with this no more
- 5:04Speaker 1: pay per views, it's ruining the sport. And then literally
- 5:09Speaker 1: I think the next day, Desne comes out with the
- 5:11Speaker 1: press release talking about well, it's a second subscription and
- 5:15Speaker 1: then you'll get all the pay per views. So it
- 5:18Speaker 1: kind of makes it seem like, so you you still
- 5:20Speaker 1: are one by one doing the pay per views, Like
- 5:25Speaker 1: to you know, someone that's not a hardcore fan, is
- 5:30Speaker 1: there still pay per views then? Or is it you
- 5:34Speaker 1: know the way they it's like a second subscription to
- 5:38Speaker 1: get all the big fights. But what's that exactly mean?
- 5:42Speaker 1: Like I said, it's kind of vague. It kind of
- 5:44Speaker 1: sounds like you can get all the pay per views,
- 5:48Speaker 1: so you're still doing pay per view then, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 1: so we'll talk a little bit about that. It just
- 5:57Speaker 1: and then you know some of the other comments. He
- 5:59Speaker 1: talked about how this new model you know, is going
- 6:04Speaker 1: to grow the dezone app majorly in the US and UK.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So we'll talk a little bit about that. Let's see
- 6:15Speaker 1: what else, well, some other fight news in boxing twitter thing.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I have noticed a lot of folks talking about, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 1: where USK ranks as far as heavyweights all time, and
- 6:31Speaker 1: you know, I kind of leave that up to the historians.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I have an opinion somewhat. I can see a list
- 6:37Speaker 1: and go I would have switched those two around, or
- 6:40Speaker 1: I wouldn't have that person in or whatever, you know
- 6:42Speaker 1: what I mean. But I leave a lot of that
- 6:45Speaker 1: up to the historians. And to be fair, they argue
- 6:48Speaker 1: and debate all the time too, so I'm not completely
- 6:55Speaker 1: I'm just not too worried about where they rank all
- 6:58Speaker 1: time fight right now. Alls I know is Usik is
- 7:04Speaker 1: a great fighter. His style is all purpose. You know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: the guy can really fight in a variety of ways.
- 7:15Speaker 1: He definitely found you know, between accuracy and speed and
- 7:20Speaker 1: work rate and then you know that pop and punching power.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know, he just he's a great fighter man. And
- 7:30Speaker 1: I think had he been at heavyweight longer and with
- 7:33Speaker 1: more fights, you know, he would have just been that
- 7:37Speaker 1: much bigger. I think that would have helped him. Obviously,
- 7:41Speaker 1: he definitely got, you know, a bigger name as the
- 7:44Speaker 1: years have gone on, and we know he's a you know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: a road warrior fighting you know, folks on the road
- 7:50Speaker 1: all the time. But but I kind of choose to
- 7:56Speaker 1: just appreciate what's going on right here right now. You know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: That's just the kind of way I look at it.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I don't like to dig too deep. I'm not going
- 8:08Speaker 1: to have a major debate about it. But before we
- 8:12Speaker 1: get into that. If this is your first time listening
- 8:15Speaker 1: to the Ropodope Radio podcast, welcome. It's available on Spotify,

- 9:11Speaker 1: over one hundred and sixty channels in eighty nine ninety
- 9:13Speaker 1: nine for the first month, that's direct TV stream. Okay, So,
- 9:20Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not going to get into a
- 9:21Speaker 1: big debate where he you know, where Usk lands on
- 9:26Speaker 1: the all time heavyweight list. He's just shown he's a
- 9:33Speaker 1: class above this generation's heavyweights. I know Tyson Fury, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: swears up and down that he got screwed in both
- 9:43Speaker 1: of those fights. Maybe at some point he'll admit it.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Maybe that's just his mentality. He just can't admit it,
- 9:53Speaker 1: you know, which it is what it is, you know
- 9:56Speaker 1: what I mean. But the way he talks about it,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I don't know, it's kind of disrespectful, but it is
- 10:03Speaker 1: what it is. He's a fighter, you know, they're wired
- 10:07Speaker 1: different than a lot of people walking this earth. So
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm not going to be overly critical at that. Obviously,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I don't think he won those fights. But you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: if that's what, I don't want to see a trilogy,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'll say that. And I know he's talking about well,
- 10:24Speaker 1: I don't want to fight, you know, fighting Joshua makes
- 10:27Speaker 1: no sense because Daboa biced him, you know, so I
- 10:30Speaker 1: don't know. I just think that at this point aj
- 10:36Speaker 1: and Fury just makes a lot of sense. But whatever,
- 10:40Speaker 1: we're neither here or there. Usik, though, you know, he
- 10:45Speaker 1: was fairly aggressive yet still like circling, like you know
- 10:51Speaker 1: what I mean, Like he was aggressive with this jab
- 10:53Speaker 1: right away land in nice right hand and left hands
- 10:56Speaker 1: straight left hands, nice right hook, I should say. So
- 10:59Speaker 1: he was assertive and aggressive, but he's still you know,
- 11:04Speaker 1: did it with a lot of intelligence. I thought both
- 11:09Speaker 1: were jabbing fairly well in the second round. The left
- 11:15Speaker 1: hand counters were pretty much the difference in the second round,
- 11:19Speaker 1: third round, Usik, you know, whether it's lead or following
- 11:25Speaker 1: the jab or counter. Those left hands were adding up
- 11:28Speaker 1: along with the effective jab once again, third or fourth round,
- 11:33Speaker 1: steady jab, you know, keeping du Bois off balance not
- 11:37Speaker 1: able to set up properly, and Husik did a great
- 11:42Speaker 1: job of keeping the action in the center of the ring.
- 11:45Speaker 1: He wasn't getting put on the ropes, he wasn't getting
- 11:48Speaker 1: in the bad situations. But in the same breath, like
- 11:52Speaker 1: I said, he was, you know he was. He was
- 11:54Speaker 1: being assertive too. So the jab was getting through pretty
- 11:58Speaker 1: much almost everything he was throwing. It felt like was
- 12:01Speaker 1: landing a nice hook, Buzz du Bois. Du Bois didn't
- 12:08Speaker 1: land a nice right hand, but then a right hook
- 12:11Speaker 1: dropped him, and you know, it was a great shot.
- 12:16Speaker 1: He got up a huge left hook drops them badly
- 12:21Speaker 1: again and the fight is over, you know, like who's
- 12:29Speaker 1: to just took the fight right from him. He's like,
- 12:32Speaker 1: now we're gonna establish something right away, and like I said,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna be assertive. I'm gonna be aggressive. I'm still
- 12:39Speaker 1: gonna be you know on my p's and q's. But
- 12:44Speaker 1: it was a great performance and he realized that this
- 12:48Speaker 1: is how it's gonna be. I'm not gonna, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 1: like I said, he was circling and pivoting and all that.
- 12:53Speaker 1: He was still using his intelligence and defense and all that.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But whether it was the like I said, the illo
- 13:00Speaker 1: up off of a jab, left hand, the counter, the lead,
- 13:04Speaker 1: those right hooks, he just was doing whatever he wanted
- 13:08Speaker 1: to do and du bois, Yeah, these little moments, like
- 13:12Speaker 1: I said, he had a jab going a little bit,
- 13:13Speaker 1: but just never was there. You know, so shouts out
- 13:20Speaker 1: to Usik Man like you know, actoriser Way. He showed,
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, his his level right, and when he came
- 13:34Speaker 1: up to heavyweight, it was there was some questions, you know,
- 13:39Speaker 1: especially like you knew his skill was going to be there.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He knew he'd have the speed advantage. But I still
- 13:46Speaker 1: can't get over those first two fights you know that
- 13:48Speaker 1: he had and some of the you know, it was
- 13:53Speaker 1: I know, he had this weird moment where he wasn't
- 13:56Speaker 1: looking good in the COVID timeframe. You know, he had
- 14:00Speaker 1: some uh, a lot of boxers equal had some time
- 14:04Speaker 1: off and you know, their careers kind of stalled, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: so you know he almost went. You know, he basically
- 14:14Speaker 1: like the end of twenty nineteen, he fought Witherspoon, and
- 14:19Speaker 1: then he fought like over a year later he fought Shasaa,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and then almost a year later he fought Joshua and
- 14:29Speaker 1: then you know he was just on this. It was
- 14:33Speaker 1: just kind of weird. Like until that Anthony Joshua fight,
- 14:35Speaker 1: I wasn't one sold you know at the heavyweight division
- 14:42Speaker 1: stuff based off the Witherspoon at Shasaura for being honest,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you know. But once I saw the Joshua fight, it
- 14:50Speaker 1: was like, okay, wait a second. You know, he's gonna
- 14:54Speaker 1: do really good at this weight class, and but yeah,
- 14:58Speaker 1: he just all oh he was fighting good competition there.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It was like once a year once, you know, last
- 15:05Speaker 1: year was the first time he fought twice a year
- 15:08Speaker 1: since like twenty eighteen, you know. So, I don't know,
- 15:14Speaker 1: it's just I understand some folks saying, hey, these guys
- 15:20Speaker 1: had twenty thirty, forty, all these fights at heavyweight. You
- 15:26Speaker 1: can obviously point to deeper divisions, I'm sorry, deeper heavyweight
- 15:31Speaker 1: divisions in the past where there is more talent. But
- 15:35Speaker 1: this crop was pretty entertaining and pretty fun to watch,
- 15:39Speaker 1: and we had great fights, we had upsets, and it
- 15:44Speaker 1: was a great era. I'm not gonna say it's as
- 15:48Speaker 1: great as you know, seventies and eighties or whatever. You know,
- 15:53Speaker 1: there's times you can go back and it's tough to
- 15:56Speaker 1: match him, but you can only do what you do
- 16:00Speaker 1: in your era, you know. So, but I do understand
- 16:04Speaker 1: folks saying, you know, he's only had whatever it was,
- 16:09Speaker 1: is it seven heavyweight fights? Seven or eight something like that. So,
- 16:22Speaker 1: like I said, I'm not getting caught up into it.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Usik is just a great fighter. He's right up there
- 16:29Speaker 1: with his generation of best fighters. Some think he's the
- 16:33Speaker 1: best out of this last generation, some people don't. Some
- 16:37Speaker 1: people I think I have him too highly ranked on
- 16:40Speaker 1: the top ten, you know, heavyweights of all time. But
- 16:47Speaker 1: it is what it is. Now, what's next? Does he
- 16:51Speaker 1: fight h Parker and Cabell in a couple other boxers.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I don't think Cabo he is a good fighter, and
- 17:03Speaker 1: could he maybe have some success against Husick maybe, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I wouldn't rule it out. Parker's been on a nice run.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Do I think he'd beat Usik? No, But if he
- 17:23Speaker 1: wants to clean out the rest of the division and
- 17:28Speaker 1: then maybe Moses, you know, I wouldn't go right to
- 17:34Speaker 1: Moses after, you know that as the next fight, though,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think that's too much of a jump, not for
- 17:40Speaker 1: Usk obviously, And I don't know, like if he wants
- 17:45Speaker 1: to walk away, cool, if he doesn't cool, if he
- 17:49Speaker 1: wants to if he feels like, hey man, I'm making
- 17:52Speaker 1: a ton of money, especially working you know, on some
- 17:57Speaker 1: fights hand in hand with you know, Turkey in the
- 18:01Speaker 1: Saudi Arabia re hot season. But I also, like I said,
- 18:07Speaker 1: I'm not I'm just not a huge Like I can't
- 18:12Speaker 1: seeing him fight Fury again. It is what it is like.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I can't sit there and tell him, dude, why are
- 18:20Speaker 1: you taking that fight if he's gonna get paid all
- 18:23Speaker 1: these millions of dollars, you know, So it's easy to say, dude,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I don't want to see it. But if you're in
- 18:28Speaker 1: that scenario, of course you fight Fury again because you
- 18:32Speaker 1: know you can beat him, and you're just gonna stack
- 18:35Speaker 1: that much more money. So I don't know, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: from when I was a kid to a teenager to
- 18:42Speaker 1: my twenties and thirties and beyond, like over time, I've
- 18:46Speaker 1: just kind of changed my viewpoint or kind of widen
- 18:50Speaker 1: my viewpoint on boxers fighting when they get older and
- 18:54Speaker 1: obviously in your thirties isn't really a big deal anymore
- 18:59Speaker 1: in a lot of sports now, but especially heavyweight boxing.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Boxing in general, but especially heavyweight boxing, there's not that
- 19:06Speaker 1: many young great fighters coming up really as of right now,
- 19:12Speaker 1: but there is. It does feel like Moses is a
- 19:15Speaker 1: guy that points in the right direction. But yeah, I mean,
- 19:19Speaker 1: if you fight Kabby Parker Kabba yell and then fury
- 19:23Speaker 1: for the third time. You know, if he does that,
- 19:27Speaker 1: more power to him. You know, whatever he wants to do.
- 19:31Speaker 1: He can walk off in the sunset as well, whatever
- 19:34Speaker 1: he wants to do. You know, I don't it is
- 19:38Speaker 1: what it is. It's hard, like when you hear about
- 19:41Speaker 1: the reported purses, like if that reported purse is even
- 19:46Speaker 1: first of all, if that reported person is true, I
- 19:51Speaker 1: don't know if it's true, I gotta admit, But let's
- 19:54Speaker 1: just say in theory, because they're talking about, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: two hundred million dollars. Even if it was one hundred
- 20:01Speaker 1: million dollars and it's seventy thirty or sixty five, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: thirty five, that's crazy money. You know. If you're getting
- 20:13Speaker 1: sixty five million to fight Parker next, that's tough, you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: even if you're getting thirty you know, I don't know
- 20:23Speaker 1: that the purse is. I really don't know, Like financially speaking,
- 20:28Speaker 1: if they did put up two hundred million for this fight,
- 20:34Speaker 1: I just it's not that I don't think it's possible
- 20:39Speaker 1: or whatever, but obviously it would have to be Saudi money.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I don't think they gave them to it. Maybe they did,
- 20:46Speaker 1: but they lost money on it. Like there's no way
- 20:49Speaker 1: that pay per view generated enough, you know. I mean
- 20:56Speaker 1: that's a lot of paper Pew buys. It would have
- 20:58Speaker 1: to do. I guarantee he it didn't hit you know,
- 21:03Speaker 1: even five hundred thousand here, like it would have to
- 21:06Speaker 1: do big. And five hundred thousand's a huge number here nowadays,
- 21:10Speaker 1: huge number. So I'm not ripping it. I'm just saying,
- 21:14Speaker 1: but these persons, like I said, even if they're a
- 21:19Speaker 1: third of it, you know, that would be a ton
- 21:22Speaker 1: of money. If he's making one hundred and thirty million,
- 21:24Speaker 1: then wow, But even if he's making sixty or thirty
- 21:28Speaker 1: or whatever. So it is what it is, Dubois. You
- 21:32Speaker 1: know that that video where everybody's it's it's like a
- 21:36Speaker 1: pre party. You know, it's like a pregame before you
- 21:40Speaker 1: go to a party or before you go out or
- 21:42Speaker 1: you watch the game with your boys, you know, pregame
- 21:47Speaker 1: and then go out before a game like actually football
- 21:51Speaker 1: game or whatever. You know. So it had that kind
- 21:54Speaker 1: of vibe where it was like, wait, who's fighting? Like
- 22:00Speaker 1: this dude's got a fight? Like what your mentality can't
- 22:03Speaker 1: be like this, you know. So was he taking it
- 22:06Speaker 1: one seriously that I don't know, you know, is that
- 22:13Speaker 1: going to have you in the right mindset? You know,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I don't know. I just the optics look horrible. Let's
- 22:21Speaker 1: just put it that way. What is Danie dball like
- 22:25Speaker 1: twenty seven, twenty eight something like that. So is he
- 22:30Speaker 1: gone for good?
- 22:31Speaker 2: No?
- 22:32Speaker 1: I mean he got beat Bayou Sik, like you know
- 22:33Speaker 1: what I mean, he could do damage for the rest
- 22:36Speaker 1: of the for you know, in the next couple of years.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So I don't think he should retire. But if he's
- 22:44Speaker 1: making that kind of money, you know, if you like
- 22:47Speaker 1: I said, even if it's half true, you know, there's
- 22:52Speaker 1: a lot to think about. Let's put it that way.
- 22:54Speaker 1: There's a lot to think about there. So but you know, ultimately,
- 22:59Speaker 1: these as are gonna do what they're gonna do, as
- 23:01Speaker 1: we know. But I don't blame Usik for, you know,
- 23:08Speaker 1: for wanting to fight more if he if he wants
- 23:10Speaker 1: to do whatever he wants to do, I'm cool with
- 23:12Speaker 1: He's been the you know, it's been great to just
- 23:16Speaker 1: follow his career and how he just the craftiness, like
- 23:20Speaker 1: just the all purpose especially at the heavyweight division, you
- 23:23Speaker 1: don't always find those high, high level skill guys, but
- 23:28Speaker 1: then can also sit there and trade right in front
- 23:31Speaker 1: of you. But let's see, uh, Dick, Dick cares, is it?
- 23:44Speaker 1: He pulled an upset on the on the on the
- 23:48Speaker 1: on the under card, beating Sorenko. That was that was
- 23:52Speaker 1: a nice upset. A lot of people I saw Thoughted
- 23:57Speaker 1: Edmundson something like that, Beaten Lappin. I'd have to agree.
- 24:03Speaker 1: But Lawrence a Koli so he won the fight. But dude,
- 24:07Speaker 1: like this, dude, he just looks so unserious, like I
- 24:15Speaker 1: don't know how, Like the weight is so out of control,
- 24:23Speaker 1: like it just doesn't make any sense. I just don't.
- 24:28Speaker 1: I don't. I don't know. Man, it'd be different if
- 24:32Speaker 1: he build it, you know, he built to that. But
- 24:34Speaker 1: you're looking at last last year, he weighed two twenty
- 24:38Speaker 1: three in May. Right, his last fight at Cruiser was
- 24:44Speaker 1: Chris Williams Smith. He lost. I think it was. Was
- 24:48Speaker 1: it a majority decision? I believe, Let me check, Actually
- 24:51Speaker 1: I think it was. So he fought at heavyweight Rasanski
- 24:57Speaker 1: Rosanski and he weighed two twenty three. Later that year
- 25:03Speaker 1: he weighs two sixty And now you know, I think
- 25:08Speaker 1: it was like two sixty two or something. I just
- 25:12Speaker 1: he looks like shit. He just does, like his body
- 25:20Speaker 1: looks horrible. I'm not saying I was super high on
- 25:26Speaker 1: him until he gained the weight, you know, or something
- 25:28Speaker 1: like that. I'm not, but like, I just don't know
- 25:32Speaker 1: why you have to be at that weight, because it
- 25:36Speaker 1: just it makes you look slow, sluggish. I did see
- 25:40Speaker 1: somebody say, man, how did you know? I can't believe
- 25:43Speaker 1: he doesn't look worse because he gained forty pounds in
- 25:48Speaker 1: one fight. Yeah, I guess, but he you know, he's
- 25:52Speaker 1: a professional athlete, so he probably shouldn't be looking horrible,
- 25:55Speaker 1: you know what I mean? So to me, it looked
- 25:58Speaker 1: bad and he clearly has a bet like it's it's
- 26:01Speaker 1: not great weight that he put on at all. It
- 26:04Speaker 1: makes him look like shit, and he he just whatever
- 26:08Speaker 1: he won. I'm not saying like he got lucky or
- 26:11Speaker 1: something like that, but you know, I just I just
- 26:20Speaker 1: don't see why he has to be that way, especially
- 26:23Speaker 1: in that fight. You know, the guy's not two sixty
- 26:28Speaker 1: you know, so why the hell are you? You know,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I don't I don't get it. Well, I mean, I
- 26:32Speaker 1: get it, but it's not a good thing. Let's put
- 26:35Speaker 1: it that way. But yeah, shouts out to the to
- 26:39Speaker 1: the bois for you know, making a run back to
- 26:42Speaker 1: this fight. But and I'm not even gonna say it
- 26:46Speaker 1: with some sort of non effort or something like that.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I'm not saying that at all. He just
- 26:52Speaker 1: got beat man and that pre party stuff not being focused.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Maybe you know, these big paydays caught up to him.
- 27:03Speaker 1: It's not fully focused. It is what it is, you know,
- 27:07Speaker 1: the newfound fame fighting Wembley. I don't know, but I'm
- 27:14Speaker 1: not gonna, like I said, I'm not gonna sit there
- 27:16Speaker 1: and say that had he been at home all by
- 27:21Speaker 1: himself doing like I was about to say, yoga meditating,
- 27:27Speaker 1: that is what I meant to say, you know that
- 27:31Speaker 1: he would have won the fight. I think that's silly too.
- 27:35Speaker 1: So it's just like I said, the optics looked just rediness.
- 27:39Speaker 1: They looked just really bad, all right, onto that other card,
- 27:42Speaker 1: so I have to make Pat y'all look better. But
- 27:45Speaker 1: then I thought he would. But it was kind of like, really,
- 27:51Speaker 1: in the first two rounds, I think you could give
- 27:54Speaker 1: the first round to Manny for sure, maybe the second round.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I thought Brios started to get the timing with his
- 28:02Speaker 1: right hand. I felt like the jab in the right
- 28:05Speaker 1: hand could have won him to fight. And you know,
- 28:09Speaker 1: the maybe the second, but the third, the fourth, the fifth,
- 28:15Speaker 1: sixth was a two way round. But that right around
- 28:19Speaker 1: that point in the second half, you know, if you
- 28:22Speaker 1: look at the seventh, if you look at the eighth,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you know, I did think Manny was landing the better shots,
- 28:27Speaker 1: and at times, maybe just early and late in the round,
- 28:33Speaker 1: Barrios would do something, but then these paqyal flurries would
- 28:39Speaker 1: win him the round type thing. So I think though
- 28:42Speaker 1: in round eighth, like I said, better land seventh than eighth,
- 28:45Speaker 1: the common little combinations he was starting to land, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: unless I messed up, I think they had. They did
- 28:53Speaker 1: the was it the tenth round twice? On the uh,
- 29:00Speaker 1: I think they. I think I'm pretty sure they did
- 29:03Speaker 1: the tenth round twice. As far as it went tenth round,
- 29:07Speaker 1: tenth round, then it was the twelfth because I remember
- 29:09Speaker 1: scribbling something, Oh, going, wait, what what round is it?
- 29:12Speaker 1: Did I mess this up? But then you know you
- 29:16Speaker 1: started to see later Barrios, you know, landing those jabs,
- 29:21Speaker 1: you know, So yeah, so I did think in the
- 29:27Speaker 1: eleventh or twelve. Barrios closed nicely. I thought he did
- 29:30Speaker 1: pretty good in the tenth whatever. Like I was okay
- 29:36Speaker 1: with the draw though, I really was because neither fighter
- 29:41Speaker 1: really established himself enough to be like, no, he won. Now,
- 29:44Speaker 1: if they would have said many won, I wouldn't have
- 29:47Speaker 1: been shocked, you know, I definitely wouldn't. But it was, Uh,
- 29:53Speaker 1: it was a pretty boring fight. That's not going out
- 29:56Speaker 1: on the limb, you know. And I I just thought
- 30:00Speaker 1: Barrios in his corner was saying it. He was just
- 30:03Speaker 1: showing it's cool to respect you know fighters, right, you're
- 30:07Speaker 1: in there, but you can't do it to the point
- 30:12Speaker 1: where the you know where you're just not thrown enough,
- 30:15Speaker 1: I mean, and being effective, I should say too. I
- 30:19Speaker 1: mean neither guy was effective in this fight. That's why
- 30:21Speaker 1: I was okay with a draw too. I mean, you're
- 30:23Speaker 1: talking about total punches. Neither guy landed twenty percent one
- 30:28Speaker 1: twenty to one oh one in favor of Barrios. It's
- 30:35Speaker 1: just the jab forty five to twenty. That's where you
- 30:38Speaker 1: can get some separation there. But they just weren't accurate.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It just it was I don't know, man, it just
- 30:47Speaker 1: it really wasn't. It's just I don't know it was.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to say a non effort, but Barrios
- 30:55Speaker 1: needed to listen to his corner more often in it.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Like I said, just you can really deter Pakyo from
- 31:02Speaker 1: coming in and landing those little flurry combos if you
- 31:06Speaker 1: just stick at jab in his face and as he moves.
- 31:08Speaker 1: He was landing with right hands as he was moving out,
- 31:10Speaker 1: moving his head. You know, Pakio has a rhythm that
- 31:14Speaker 1: he keeps a lot of the fight, you know. So
- 31:20Speaker 1: but when to be honest with you, like older fighters,
- 31:24Speaker 1: fighters coming back from you know, four years off or whatever.
- 31:29Speaker 1: He did, he he looked all right. Considering I will
- 31:33Speaker 1: say that I think Ugas at his best is much
- 31:38Speaker 1: better than Brios. That's not really a big argument or nothing,
- 31:43Speaker 1: but it was a different style, different you know, like
- 31:47Speaker 1: clearly Barrios knew what he had to do and he
- 31:50Speaker 1: kept doing it. And I'm sorry us Brios. It seemed
- 31:55Speaker 1: like the game plan was there to win, and he
- 32:01Speaker 1: like his corner. He just showed him too much respect.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You know. I think Mario Barrow's he's probably he's definitely
- 32:11Speaker 1: not as bad as some people say. But he's you know,
- 32:14Speaker 1: he's just because he took Tank laid into a fight
- 32:19Speaker 1: and was winning rounds. I do think that, you know,
- 32:22Speaker 1: in some sense, he got over rated too, So he's
- 32:28Speaker 1: somewhere in between not really really good and just not garbage,
- 32:33Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But he just didn't show enough.
- 32:38Speaker 1: And now that's back to back performances where you're like, dude,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you got to show more life, man, you got you know,
- 32:43Speaker 1: And I don't know, I'm not sure what's up with them.
- 32:47Speaker 1: But as far as Manny, I mean, people have they've
- 32:50Speaker 1: talked about the Mayweather fight, they've talked about They've talked
- 32:55Speaker 1: about Rolie, they've talked about I've even heard rank or
- 32:59Speaker 1: see it obviously Tank. So there's fights for him if
- 33:05Speaker 1: he wants to continue, And if he fought, like within
- 33:12Speaker 1: six months, he probably would look just as good, maybe
- 33:14Speaker 1: even better because of the time off or whatever. But
- 33:18Speaker 1: once again, you know, it is what it is. I'm
- 33:20Speaker 1: not crazy about guys taking long breaks and coming back,
- 33:24Speaker 1: and people always bring up George Foreman, but if you
- 33:27Speaker 1: look at his path back, first of all, it was
- 33:30Speaker 1: a lot longer break, right. He retired the first time
- 33:34Speaker 1: way earlier in his career than a lot of fighters do.
- 33:38Speaker 1: But you know, he grinded his way back to it.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Though it wasn't just oh I'm off this many years boom,
- 33:46Speaker 1: I had a fight, then all of a sudden, I
- 33:49Speaker 1: accomplish my goal, you know. So you know, if Pakyall
- 33:52Speaker 1: wants to keep fighting, it is what it is. You know.
- 33:56Speaker 1: I'm not I don't really want to see in Mayweather fight,
- 34:02Speaker 1: to be honest, you know, but I could see I
- 34:07Speaker 1: could see Rolie, I can see Jarvonte. I could definitely
- 34:10Speaker 1: see your Monte. Because a lot of people think Patyell
- 34:13Speaker 1: won the fight anyway, so that's what they'll say, Oh,
- 34:15Speaker 1: do you got screwed in his last fight? You know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: But I gotta I gotta give him some credit for
- 34:22Speaker 1: looking a lot better than he had. I'll say that.
- 34:26Speaker 1: So you know, I'm not gonna sit there and say, oh,
- 34:28Speaker 1: he's fresher, you know, but like he just didn't look
- 34:35Speaker 1: like he had been out of the ring professionally anyway
- 34:38Speaker 1: for that long. I will say that. And as I mentioned,
- 34:43Speaker 1: I do think if you gave him the fight, I
- 34:46Speaker 1: can't sit there and you know debate that. I just
- 34:51Speaker 1: it's one of those fights where I'm like, dude, neither
- 34:54Speaker 1: of them established enough to win it, like clearly, not
- 35:00Speaker 1: even when I mean clearly it could be a clear
- 35:02Speaker 1: seven to five fight, you know. But if I had
- 35:05Speaker 1: to pick a win or yeah, I would have picked
- 35:06Speaker 1: back y'all. I would have picked back y'all. And yeah,
- 35:09Speaker 1: he's gonna keep fighting. It is what it is. And
- 35:13Speaker 1: the you know, the crowds and the gates aren't going
- 35:15Speaker 1: to be as big as they were obviously, but the
- 35:18Speaker 1: crowd is still like a very excited little crowd, like
- 35:22Speaker 1: they still are into their guy, and there's just something
- 35:25Speaker 1: about Manny. Like I said, it's not as big as
- 35:28Speaker 1: the crowds and the gates not as big great, but
- 35:31Speaker 1: the dude, they were into it. You could hear it,
- 35:34Speaker 1: you know, they were really into it. And so the
- 35:38Speaker 1: crowd once the crowd starts showing up, you know, I'm
- 35:42Speaker 1: not saying it was some kind of huge, huge crowd,
- 35:43Speaker 1: but it was boisterous, you know. It was a fun
- 35:46Speaker 1: crowd that way. Fundora well real quick fear. Oh you know,
- 35:57Speaker 1: there was that picture and video video of him looking chubby,
- 36:03Speaker 1: and so I'm not shocked that he was having weight issues, right,
- 36:08Speaker 1: So Pitbull Cruise, you know, took on a late replacement
- 36:14Speaker 1: and dude did okay, you know, did fine? Can compare,
- 36:19Speaker 1: you know, considering it was a ten rounder he won,
- 36:23Speaker 1: We'll see, you know, what's up with him. But as
- 36:25Speaker 1: far as Mondor and Tim Zu, now, heady, I did
- 36:29Speaker 1: pick tim Zu. But I'll say this, I'm watching it
- 36:36Speaker 1: with like two buddies, right and I'm watching tim Zu
- 36:43Speaker 1: come into the ring, and then when they're announcing his name,
- 36:50Speaker 1: he just didn't look right. And I'm not saying, dude,
- 36:53Speaker 1: he was he actually had a bad camp or he
- 36:55Speaker 1: was sick or you know, I'm not saying like that,
- 36:57Speaker 1: but he looked a little empty like his I'm not
- 37:03Speaker 1: taking any credit away from Fandora at all. I picked
- 37:07Speaker 1: tim Zuo in this fight, Okay, So when I say that,
- 37:10Speaker 1: there's no excuses, I'm just saying what I saw out
- 37:13Speaker 1: of or. Right when they announced him Zoo, I was like,
- 37:18Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, he just doesn't look himself. And
- 37:22Speaker 1: I think that's overall, you know, like mentally, like once
- 37:30Speaker 1: once he started getting hit again, it just seemed like,
- 37:35Speaker 1: I don't know, like that, And you could also talk
- 37:37Speaker 1: about the game plan in the corner like he has
- 37:42Speaker 1: to be assertive, he has to have his jab those
- 37:44Speaker 1: overhand rights. He needed to get on the inside. And
- 37:47Speaker 1: this is what I want to give Fandora a ton
- 37:50Speaker 1: of credit for, because he fought a very controlled fight
- 37:55Speaker 1: and it's something that a lot of people have talked about.
- 37:57Speaker 1: If he uses his length, if keeps people at the
- 38:01Speaker 1: end of his punches, like the dude is a handful
- 38:04Speaker 1: and he is improving, and it just you just can't
- 38:07Speaker 1: deny it. But you know, midway through the first round,
- 38:15Speaker 1: nice left hand and then another left and you're like, whoa,
- 38:22Speaker 1: you know, like holy shit, like what just happened? You know,
- 38:27Speaker 1: like I was kind of shocked that it was that,
- 38:30Speaker 1: you know, that quick. It was just like not that
- 38:34Speaker 1: the fight was over. But I really liked I just
- 38:40Speaker 1: seeing him down like that on that left hand during
- 38:43Speaker 1: an exchange. I don't know, like Fandora definitely, you know,
- 38:49Speaker 1: landing the more accurate punches throughout this fight for the
- 38:53Speaker 1: most part. Onto the second round, you know, the chats,
- 39:00Speaker 1: the combinations, you know, having tim Zoo trapped on the
- 39:05Speaker 1: ropes and you know, like he did kind of bomb
- 39:10Speaker 1: his way out of being off the ropes. A couple
- 39:14Speaker 1: couple shots, but before you know it, there was a
- 39:17Speaker 1: cutover is I think his right eye. Third round, the
- 39:21Speaker 1: jab the lanks, the left hands, you know, rendering tim
- 39:30Speaker 1: Zuo like unable to get on the inside and it
- 39:35Speaker 1: felt like he needed to jab more. Maybe just getting
- 39:38Speaker 1: hit with that counter left hand was troubling him obviously,
- 39:46Speaker 1: but you know, from the like I'll say this, Tim
- 39:50Speaker 1: did keep fighting, you know, because he bloodied his nose
- 39:55Speaker 1: with a nice shot in the fourth round. I've believe
- 40:00Speaker 1: it was it was like looping shots but still not enough.
- 40:07Speaker 1: You know, Like the fourth round was a really fun
- 40:11Speaker 1: round to watch Tim Zuo definitely, you know, he had
- 40:15Speaker 1: some success in the last part of that round, and
- 40:19Speaker 1: then also in the fifth he had a really good start,
- 40:23Speaker 1: like an early right hand, but then Fondora kind of
- 40:26Speaker 1: got back on his jab using that distance, keeping him
- 40:30Speaker 1: at the end of the punch. I did see some
- 40:33Speaker 1: people give him the fifth round Jim Zuo or the
- 40:37Speaker 1: sixth round. You know, there was a really nice right hand,
- 40:43Speaker 1: That's something I did see that he landed, you know,
- 40:46Speaker 1: multiple times. But I did see someone say the right
- 40:48Speaker 1: hand stole the round for him in the sixth. But
- 40:54Speaker 1: another thing I noticed in that round was Solendora. Although
- 40:58Speaker 1: the jab was still there and what and what not,
- 41:01Speaker 1: It like the punches became in that round. It seemed
- 41:05Speaker 1: like it had less power on it. I think the
- 41:07Speaker 1: broadcast even mentioned that. And it was a little arm punchy,
- 41:11Speaker 1: just a little bit. But then came right back out
- 41:14Speaker 1: in the seventh jabbing really well, left hand doing the
- 41:20Speaker 1: damage again Tim zooland in these overhand shots. But you know,
- 41:27Speaker 1: and I will say this, Fandora, his eye was kind
- 41:30Speaker 1: of like tweaking on him a little bit because he
- 41:32Speaker 1: kept blinking a little bit, and I thought, oh man,
- 41:34Speaker 1: that might be kind of weird, you know, but it
- 41:38Speaker 1: really it didn't mean much at all. And then you know,
- 41:44Speaker 1: it was like going out for well, it happened in
- 41:47Speaker 1: the seventh round. He never made it to the eighth round.
- 41:53Speaker 1: And you know, when fighters don't continue right, to put
- 42:01Speaker 1: it nicely, they're gonna get a lot of shit, you know.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I you know, I really kind of was like, really, dude,
- 42:12Speaker 1: but not surprised at Turkey's tweet after and that's where
- 42:20Speaker 1: you know, he's talking about his tweet that he deleted.
- 42:23Speaker 1: By the way, you know, it has this it has
- 42:29Speaker 1: this little screenshot of Tim Zuo's trainer calls fight off.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It said in his tweet, said, I said, I said
- 42:38Speaker 1: to you from the beginning, Timsu does not deserved to
- 42:40Speaker 1: be on a re hot season card or ring magazine card.
- 42:45Speaker 1: He can be useful as a starring partner for a
- 42:48Speaker 1: champion in re hot season. And that's where you're like, dude,
- 42:52Speaker 1: first of all, you put him on a card. Okay,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you had him on a card. It was last against
- 43:00Speaker 1: Virgil Ortiz. So to say I told you wasn't good
- 43:05Speaker 1: enough to be on a card, Well, now you didn't.
- 43:08Speaker 1: First of all, you put him on a car. You know,
- 43:10Speaker 1: in fact, you put him on a car without knowing
- 43:13Speaker 1: he wasn't cleared yet, and that's why he dropped off
- 43:17Speaker 1: the card. So because he wasn't you know, he wasn't
- 43:21Speaker 1: able to spark and whatnot because that cut, and you
- 43:25Speaker 1: know you brought him after that nasty cut anyway, right
- 43:28Speaker 1: into virtual Ortis. So I just think that that's like,
- 43:32Speaker 1: it's just stupid. It's just stupid shit. And you know,
- 43:36Speaker 1: he comes across as I just want to say boxing
- 43:38Speaker 1: and help boxing and whatever's the best fight and the
- 43:41Speaker 1: best and a lot of that is just bullshit, because
- 43:44Speaker 1: you don't tweet like that, you don't take stuff so
- 43:47Speaker 1: personal like I just think it. It's over the top.
- 43:51Speaker 1: But anyway, where's tim Zuo go from here? Dude? He
- 43:55Speaker 1: has to if he wants to rebuild, he's got to
- 43:57Speaker 1: stay like in Australia for a while and just rebuild.
- 44:01Speaker 1: But I don't know, man, It's just he's now taking
- 44:06Speaker 1: a fair amount of punishment and a short amount of time.
- 44:12Speaker 1: The things he is good at, he's just not able
- 44:14Speaker 1: to do in in some of it is matchup obviously
- 44:18Speaker 1: Fandora when he's fighting like this, like I said, keeping
- 44:20Speaker 1: people at the end of his jab, the left hand
- 44:23Speaker 1: going to the body like well, he didn't really go
- 44:25Speaker 1: to the box. Neither of him did. And maybe it's
- 44:28Speaker 1: because he kept getting hit and countered. You know, trying
- 44:31Speaker 1: to get inside is not easy on Fandora, you know,
- 44:35Speaker 1: especially when he's not smothering his punches. So shouts out
- 44:40Speaker 1: to Fandora, who hasn't proved and he's a handful, doesn't
- 44:45Speaker 1: have great defense. But when he's fighting with that game plan,
- 44:52Speaker 1: it's gonna take a guy that is defensively very sound,
- 44:57Speaker 1: that could counter punch, that can you know, lateral movement.
- 45:01Speaker 1: You really, you can't just stand there and trade all
- 45:04Speaker 1: day with him. I don't know. I think he's one
- 45:10Speaker 1: of the better one fifty four pounders. But can he
- 45:12Speaker 1: get beat? Yeah he can't. We've seen it obviously, so
- 45:17Speaker 1: but yeah, shots out to Fondora, tim Zu, I guess
- 45:22Speaker 1: back to the drawing board. But man, I don't know,
- 45:27Speaker 1: he's just I don't know. Man, he looks like he's
- 45:31Speaker 1: pretty much spent right now. But we'll see, we'll see.
- 45:36Speaker 1: He obviously is is still a big name in Australia.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Maybe he'll go back there and and do his thing.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I don't know, all right, figuar Roa and Joe At
- 45:46Speaker 1: Gonzalz Brandon Figaroa. You know, I actually thought in the
- 45:51Speaker 1: first round, I thought he came out pretty good, uh,
- 45:55Speaker 1: you know, leaning on Joeett going to the body. But
- 46:01Speaker 1: I think even at you know, by the mid way
- 46:06Speaker 1: and late the body work and a few nice left hands,
- 46:13Speaker 1: I think to the head, Gonzalez found something there and
- 46:21Speaker 1: it took a while for Fondora or sorry Figueroa to
- 46:25Speaker 1: win another round. Took a little bit, I gave just
- 46:29Speaker 1: due to bodywork. The sixth or sorry, I'm looking at
- 46:33Speaker 1: it wrong. The second, the third, the hooks and uppercuts,
- 46:39Speaker 1: the shorter, more accurate lands to the body and head,
- 46:43Speaker 1: just a better defense too. It's not that Figaroa wasn't
- 46:47Speaker 1: busy during a lot of these rounds, but he just
- 46:52Speaker 1: wasn't effective, and he was smothering his work in like
- 46:58Speaker 1: beyond some of the stuff we saw later in the fight.
- 47:01Speaker 1: In that first round two, like Figueroa almost started fighting
- 47:06Speaker 1: like his brother Moore, where he's leaning on a guy
- 47:09Speaker 1: but not looking at him with his head kind of
- 47:12Speaker 1: tilted side. I don't know. He was smothering his punches
- 47:14Speaker 1: too much. And he does with his type of style,
- 47:22Speaker 1: you know, like he does. He does. It's it's hard
- 47:27Speaker 1: not to smother his punches sometimes. But this one he
- 47:31Speaker 1: was really smothering his work and shots out to the
- 47:35Speaker 1: Gonzalez because he you know, he was just he was
- 47:39Speaker 1: better all around and just the cleaner shots. Like I said,
- 47:46Speaker 1: work in the body, landed huge counter right hands, just
- 47:49Speaker 1: counters in general, left hands. You know. Now you know,
- 47:56Speaker 1: five through seven, let's say five six seven, you know,
- 48:03Speaker 1: maybe the fifth round you could give to Figaroa. But
- 48:08Speaker 1: the body punching the counter shots. It just was adding
- 48:13Speaker 1: up way too much. Eighth round body work, right hooks
- 48:17Speaker 1: to the head and these are clean, huge right hand
- 48:21Speaker 1: like in the ninth round, huge right hand landing. And
- 48:26Speaker 1: I even wrote, you know, in one of those rounds,
- 48:28Speaker 1: like he's looking a lot like you know, his brother wow,
- 48:32Speaker 1: like Omar so. But I did think in the tenth round,
- 48:38Speaker 1: whatever it was, Figaroa did break out of it. And
- 48:42Speaker 1: that's his thing. He does bring a lot of activity
- 48:46Speaker 1: to fights, whether he loses them beats him, where wins
- 48:50Speaker 1: put in he loses, the beats him, I said, whether
- 48:52Speaker 1: he loses, wins or loses, like, he does bring a
- 48:55Speaker 1: lot of activity. But his punch rate had gone down
- 48:58Speaker 1: a little bit late. Now it started going back up
- 49:02Speaker 1: and back up, and some of it was effective, some
- 49:04Speaker 1: of it wasn't. But I did think the way he,
- 49:07Speaker 1: you know, the way he fought from round ten to twelve,
- 49:15Speaker 1: like one of those rounds was at the eleventh thirty
- 49:17Speaker 1: eight to one O nine or of one O nine
- 49:20Speaker 1: thirty eight lands like that was kind of the old Figuoa,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but ken Figureoa summoned that the whole fight, you know,
- 49:29Speaker 1: and so this this came down the clean punching and
- 49:31Speaker 1: better better punching, because technically, you know, Figuaroa did outland
- 49:37Speaker 1: him two eighty two to two sixty five. And the
- 49:42Speaker 1: jab numbers are hilarious. Figureol landed three and joettelanded seven
- 49:51Speaker 1: two percent of his jabs out of one twenty three.
- 49:53Speaker 1: That's what Figuarreol landed. It was power shots heavy. So
- 49:57Speaker 1: you can look at the numbers and say, well, you know,
- 49:59Speaker 1: we'll throw them by over two hundred punches, one thousand
- 50:02Speaker 1: and seventy four thrown punches. But the thirty five to
- 50:06Speaker 1: twenty six percentage overall landing and thirty five to twenty
- 50:10Speaker 1: nine the power shots. You know, that's where punch stats.
- 50:14Speaker 1: That's great, right, it does show you something. But the
- 50:21Speaker 1: body work was just ridiculous, just absolutely ridiculous. And Joett
- 50:28Speaker 1: won that fight. Like whether you had eight to four,
- 50:33Speaker 1: seven to five or what, I don't know what you
- 50:35Speaker 1: had it, but I think Joegans aways won that fight.
- 50:39Speaker 1: I really do you know. I had him winning it.
- 50:44Speaker 1: I think it was. Although fig did his thing late,
- 50:49Speaker 1: it's like, well that's that's kind of you know, your issue,
- 50:53Speaker 1: though you can't wait that long, and he waited that
- 50:56Speaker 1: long to get going otherwise. He I mean, you know,
- 51:01Speaker 1: obviously he did put in the fight, so it's it's
- 51:04Speaker 1: hard for me to say, oh, you should have done yeah,
- 51:06Speaker 1: but I mean overall, no, I didn't. I did not
- 51:09Speaker 1: see I thought Joe at one like I said, whatever,
- 51:14Speaker 1: you had a seven to five, eight to four whatever,
- 51:20Speaker 1: I don't know two was it two scorecards that had
- 51:22Speaker 1: an eight to four in seven to five. Basically, I
- 51:28Speaker 1: just I did not see that whatsoever. I just like,
- 51:32Speaker 1: you couldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't be talked into that one.
- 51:36Speaker 2: You know.
- 51:36Speaker 1: I'm all for like watching a fight again and keeping
- 51:42Speaker 1: an open mind and be like, yeah, maybe I was wrong, Yeah,
- 51:45Speaker 1: maybe you know, but I don't know, man, I just
- 51:50Speaker 1: I thought, figure, well, even like at the end of
- 51:52Speaker 1: the fight, you know, you can kind of tell on
- 51:54Speaker 1: people's faces, you know, But yeah, to have two Sutherland,
- 52:00Speaker 1: who is the other guy? I know one of them
- 52:01Speaker 1: is Seleman. To have eight to four, I don't have
- 52:08Speaker 1: eight rounds to get to figure out in that fight.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I really don't. So, you know, is there a rematch?
- 52:17Speaker 1: It was a good fight. I think Joette, you know,
- 52:20Speaker 1: definitely like earned a rematch. That's for damn sure. But
- 52:25Speaker 1: we'll see where that goes. Like I said, one Picasso
- 52:28Speaker 1: one maxioh Gary Russell Junior.
- 52:33Speaker 2: One.
- 52:34Speaker 1: It's nice to see him back. Let's see, you know,
- 52:37Speaker 1: if he can remain active somewhat anyway, because he's always
- 52:45Speaker 1: been a really good fighter man. But we'll see, we'll see,
- 52:50Speaker 1: because he could make it interesting here if you were
- 52:54Speaker 1: able to get a sizable fight. Now that he got
- 52:57Speaker 1: some of that rusted off, but overall it wasn't entertaining card,
- 53:04Speaker 1: you know, the main event. I didn't expect a whole lot,
- 53:08Speaker 1: so like I really didn't. And pak yao, did I
- 53:15Speaker 1: have to admit, pak yao? Did you know supersede my expectations?
- 53:20Speaker 1: Now the bar was low at the time. But I
- 53:22Speaker 1: can't sit there and say he looked great and man,
- 53:25Speaker 1: those combos were crisp and but as I mentioned, if
- 53:30Speaker 1: you told me he won to fight, I'm not going
- 53:32Speaker 1: to sit there and argue about it, right, So on
- 53:38Speaker 1: to Cafu and Bam Jesse, Bam Rodriguez. You know the
- 53:46Speaker 1: first couple of rounds.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Bam.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Once again, I just love his upper bottom. You know,
- 53:53Speaker 1: his feet, He's got great feet in positioning, but that
- 53:56Speaker 1: along with the head movement, upper body movement. It just
- 54:00Speaker 1: it's very aggressive. It's smart pressure, you know, and those
- 54:07Speaker 1: short shots off the jab, the jabs always stinging or
- 54:13Speaker 1: setting it up. Ku Foo was laying some nice books
- 54:18Speaker 1: off the ropes. I will say that nice straight left
- 54:23Speaker 1: counter as well. In those first few rounds. The fourth
- 54:28Speaker 1: round had a lot of back and forth in it
- 54:31Speaker 1: that the fight was on the inside a lot of
- 54:33Speaker 1: the fight. And I thought in the fifth and sixth
- 54:37Speaker 1: they were close round and you know, I definitely think
- 54:42Speaker 1: that's where you can give some of this some of
- 54:45Speaker 1: these rounds to Calf or at least you know, like
- 54:47Speaker 1: the fifth or six, you can give them one. I'd
- 54:49Speaker 1: say for sure, the commos to the body and and
- 54:54Speaker 1: also just in general, i'd say from rounds five to seven,
- 54:58Speaker 1: like who did a good job of like answering many
- 55:02Speaker 1: of BAM's flurries and successes. Now, when I say answer,
- 55:08Speaker 1: did it even up? Always No, it did not. It
- 55:11Speaker 1: did not. And Bam won this clearly with his jab,
- 55:16Speaker 1: with the cleaner shots, you know, constantly working the head
- 55:20Speaker 1: and body with the defense, the heavier shots too, and
- 55:24Speaker 1: then that you know, tenth round came around big right
- 55:28Speaker 1: hook to the head hurts Cawfu and you know he
- 55:36Speaker 1: stopped him, and you know, could Cafu continue, you know, sure,
- 55:44Speaker 1: but he was being dominated at that point. You know,
- 55:49Speaker 1: I don't know how many rounds do you give him
- 55:53Speaker 1: one round or two rounds or whatever. But Jesse Rodriguez
- 55:58Speaker 1: beat him cleanly. Uh.
- 56:01Speaker 2: You also did have Austin Williams get the win. Pablo Valdez,
- 56:09Speaker 2: Omari Jones, Diego Pacheco. That fight was non eventful.
- 56:18Speaker 3: And don't get me wrong, like I'm not saying, you know,
- 56:23Speaker 3: like I don't know Pacheco just it just feels like
- 56:26Speaker 3: we're nearing his.
- 56:29Speaker 1: His ceiling now, you know, he just the company was
- 56:35Speaker 1: moving a lot, didn't put up a great effort. I
- 56:40Speaker 1: think Pacheco just needs to be tested because that that's
- 56:44Speaker 1: the only way we're gonna really find out about him
- 56:47Speaker 1: right now. It's just it's just get tested. It's time
- 56:50Speaker 1: to get tested. Like fully, So I'm not saying he
- 56:55Speaker 1: looked horrible. He just I need to see him against
- 57:00Speaker 1: a high level or a higher level fighter.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Now speaking of band though, he does move on to
- 57:08Speaker 1: Fernando Martinez, Fernando Daniel Martinez, and that's on that card
- 57:15Speaker 1: in November. Supposedly that's gonna be a DESNE subscriber card.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I don't know why the August card isn't that it's
- 57:31Speaker 1: pay per view. Obviously, Martinez coming off those back to
- 57:37Speaker 1: back wins over Ioki, you know, not long ago. He's
- 57:42Speaker 1: used to be it on a run, you know, dru
- 57:45Speaker 1: Wind and Borneo and that type of thing. So he
- 57:50Speaker 1: this is a good fight. I like the fight. It's
- 57:54Speaker 1: cool to plan the fight. I'm not a big I've
- 57:56Speaker 1: said it before. I'm not a big fan of putting
- 57:59Speaker 1: the fighters on a poster when they have a fight.
- 58:02Speaker 1: We've seen that a couple times, and they don't always
- 58:08Speaker 1: turn out that way, right or all of a sudden, Well,
- 58:12Speaker 1: it's too much of a risk. It's kind of like
- 58:15Speaker 1: the Bois Parker Eh. Actually, we're just gonna brain right,
- 58:19Speaker 1: duingustic Like it's just kind of funky. Like it's one
- 58:21Speaker 1: thing to plan it and say that's our plan. But
- 58:25Speaker 1: my point is beyond some shaky stuff like oh he's injured.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Is he injured for sure? Do we think that? Or
- 58:34Speaker 1: is that just playing it safe? You know, in this fight,
- 58:38Speaker 1: you kind of knew he was gonna win, but you
- 58:39Speaker 1: could also get injured and then you're not on that card.
- 58:43Speaker 1: So I'm not a big fan of that. I like
- 58:45Speaker 1: setting up fights. I like saying, hey if he if
- 58:49Speaker 1: he wins, he's gonna fight him. But my point is
- 58:52Speaker 1: in these fights, not this specific fight. Always right, talking
- 58:56Speaker 1: about this scenario, because I think in this fight, Bam,
- 58:59Speaker 1: would you know if he lost, he would get a rematch? Right?
- 59:03Speaker 1: But my thing is, so if the person you want
- 59:07Speaker 1: to win loses, does that the fighter who beats that fighter,
- 59:13Speaker 1: do they get that fight then? Because to me that
- 59:18Speaker 1: that opens it up a little bit more. You know,
- 59:21Speaker 1: if Kathu pulled the upset, more likely it'd be a rematch.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Now I don't know if he had a rematch clause,
- 59:27Speaker 1: I'm just saying, I'm just trying to use these fights
- 59:30Speaker 1: as examples, different examples. And so if they, like I said,
- 59:36Speaker 1: if they if the person you want to win that's
- 59:40Speaker 1: already on the post or loses, shouldn't the fighter that
- 59:46Speaker 1: beat that per that you know said fighter, shouldn't they
- 59:50Speaker 1: get the fight? Then? You know, I'd be a lot
- 59:54Speaker 1: more into this is our plan. But organically shit happens,
- 59:58Speaker 1: Oh well, but no, more than likely it would mean
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: the rematch. Not every time though, because it all kind
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: of matters, like Parker and Dubois. You know, like if
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Parker wins, I would you know, I could see him
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: getting that fight. But anyway, I like that fight. It's
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: a very interesting fight. And you know, I Fernando Martinez
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: is a really good fighter. You know, on paper, I
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: do favor Bam. That's not some kind of shocker, right,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: But I don't know, man, like Bam is just so talented,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and you know, he has to be in your top
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: five pound for pound. Like I said, I'm not a
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: huge pound for pound this guy because I generally can't decide.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I'm just you know, it starts to get to twelve
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: or thirteen or you know what I mean. So I
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: never really I've done him before, but I don't normally
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: do them for a variety of reasons. That's one of them.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: But Bam, man, it's just a lot of the things
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: that people would say about Loma. I think Bam has
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: perfected it, you know, and he does. I feel like
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: he's a little more capable of getting you out of there.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: He's he's he's just more sound overall. Like I said,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: he's kind of just I don't know. He's perfected that style,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: you know, and he's just better at it, and he's
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: just a better fighter. And I know a lot of
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: people think Lomachenko was, you know, one of the best
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: fighters of all time. I just don't. It's nothing against him,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: but I just don't. I just don't think he I'm
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: not saying he's not a Hall of Famer. I definitely
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: am not saying that. I think lomanch I Go is
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: a Hall of Famer, but I think he was just
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: you know, overvalued, and a lot of people saying, you know,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: husik Is is the Ukrainian that people should have been
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: focusing on instead of all these superlatives kind of going
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: over the top. You know, I got it. It got
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: to the point where, and I've said this before that
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: I think Loman's actually undervalue now because he was so
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: hyped up where you're like, some people kind of got
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: sick of it, like dude, why do you keep saying this?
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: You know? But it is what it is, Like I
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: you know, I just I really like bam Man. The
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: guy is just all purpose a great fighter, and I'm
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: looking forward to his next fight now this weekend, the
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: last card with Top rank and Espnist is part of
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: that deal. Hopefully they'll be you know, announcing something. As
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: far as their deal, they did say, you know, no August,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: maybe no September. Didn't they say in September. They're gonna
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: knowunce their deal or deals plural. There's been rumors of
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the Zone. There was rumors of HBO Max or HBO whatever.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: There's been rumors. You know, I think to Zone, any boxing,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: especially in the US, any any I just think they'd
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: give them dates, you know what I mean, because their
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: goal is just to be the hardcore boxing app basically,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: and there's nothing wrong with that on a hardcore you
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: know what I mean. But I'm just saying that I
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: do think they could get a deal with the Zone.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: We'll see where they ultimately end up. You know. It's
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: not that I don't want them on the Zone per se,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: because you know, if the fights get made, the fights
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: get made, that's awesome. But would I be mad if
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: they ended up someplace else? No, I wouldn't, you know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: So we'll see where they go. I'm not gonna you know,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I've heard things. I've heard some things, but I'm not
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: gonna you know, just uh, I don't know. Some people
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: think they don't they don't have a deal, and they're
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: not going to get a deal, and they'll come beg
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: into the ZWN whatever. You know, I'll keep an open
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: mind on the scenario and hope for the best as
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: a boxing fan. You do have Bruce Carrington on this card.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: You have Pilanco on this card. You have a certain
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: heavyweight fighter that seems to be more interested in being
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: an amateur fighter. I think everybody knows. You have the
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: young Vargas on it. But the biggest fight, that most
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: interesting fight is xanders as in Jor Perez, Jorge Garcia Perez,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I should say. And you know, like his last two
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: fights I thought were pretty impressive, especially the Conwell Charles
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: Conwell fight. You know, I I for one did not
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: see that coming. I didn't pick that. I think I
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: had it seven and five. I think all the judges
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: had a seven and five as a split decision. So yeah,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: this this dude's a good fighter. And Xanders Ayez. You know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: he's been moved along at a certain pace. At times
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: he's kind of stumbled into I don't know, other times
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: he's looked fairly good, you know, And so this is
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: a good moment for him to kind of really show
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: show himself because he should win this fight. He is
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: the favorite. I do think he will win the fight.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: And you know, it's it's been a little while now
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: since he's been since he's looked kind of mediocre in fights.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: You're always gonna have certain fights where you don't look
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: as good, you know, on the way up. We're seeing
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: him more and more now, and a lot of these
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: prospects are getting judged earlier than they normally would. To
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: an extent, I do like the way he has been moved.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I will say that every fighter you know can't be
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: he can't move each fighter, you know, the same way, right,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: You gotta you gotta take your time sometimes and so
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: and so that that part of it. I thought. I
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: thought Top ran pretty usable, you know, moved him, moved
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: him pretty well, and so I think it is his
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: time to win this fight. Will he win by knockout?
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: You know, I don't know he could obviously, but I
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: wouldn't just for sure bet on it. You know, I'm
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: kinda I don't know, I'm kinda I'm trying to look
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: at these damn odds. But something's up with this damn
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: it trying to look at these odds. But that's not
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: my internet. I think it's this website, and it's it's
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: different than pro boxing ods by the way, although they
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: haven't been updating their their stuff lately. I will say that,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: but the last time I saw him, it was in
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: the plus two hundreds, like two fifty or he was
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the underdog. If you look at like just talking about
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: this weekend the night before, I think it's is that
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: on Friday the Reese? Uh but Ballatti? Is that? How
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: you to say that? Ryan Garner, that's a close fight.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: I wouldn't doubt if Reese pulls up it'd be a
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: somewhat minor upset. I see him, you know, in the
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: plus one thirties plus one seventies. You also have Clariso shields.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I don't think she'll have much problem. Same with Bruce Carrington,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: close of shields fights. I don't think she'll have a
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: problem at all. So, you know, besides, I think that
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: those two fights I mentioned are probably the closest odds wise.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: All Right, it looks like this the site's gonna let
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: me in. I don't know what's going on with it,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: just trying to get the you know, get the by
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: decision by knockout stuff kind of labeled down here. I
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: don't know what's going on with this, but yes, Ander,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: you know, like I said, I think he's a fine fighter.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I'm interested to see how he performs in this fight
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and then where he goes from from here, because that could,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: you know, have a lot to do with where Top
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: rank goes. And it's been a lot more hush hush lately,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: but you know, you've heard talks like I mentioned of,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: you know, a variety of things. We're gonna have three
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: outlets down to it. You know, I've even heard people
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: talk about I think if someone said this I brunch boxing.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: I can't remember it was on brunch boxing. Maybe it
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: was Matt he said that, you know, he's heard rumors
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: of Top Rank's gonna sell and just get out of
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: the game, which I wouldn't be one shocked at that,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: just because you know it has been rumored prior. We've
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: heard that with Golden Bulls. Shit, even matchroom is is
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: docked about that before, like, hey, you know if someone's
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: if someone buys me out or something, you know that
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: could happen. Yeah, something's up with this betting website for
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: some reason. Every once in a while it just gets
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: funky and it's just freezing up, you know, in the
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: sign and process that you get in there, and it
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: just like I said, it just freezes up. So I
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: don't know what's up with that. I haven't made a
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: bet on it yet, but I'm thinking decision for as Iaz.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Like I said, the Zone has multiple shows this week,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: some of them, you know whatever. Some of them might
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: be really good, you know, Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Flores Chavez Pierce and Das Marinas that's from Atlanta actually,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: and uh Osha Jones is on that. Who else that
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: actually might be a good card that's on that's Friday night.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Domingo's Rojas is on his own as well. I think
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: that's part of the Yeah, that's different. Yeah, Gardener, you
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: know on paper Gardener Bloody is is definitely the that's
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: on his own, that is during the afternoon. I looked
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: at that wrong. That is during the afternoon. So yeah,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: nothing to like go crazy about. But but I think
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: that Xanderzayez is going to you know, separate himself, and
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: like I mentioned, you know, you have fights like Dowerte
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Simms Junior and you know, uh Nick Ball and Sam Goodman,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: like you have some ray Ford like you know, like
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: I said, Moses and Dillion White, that being on pay
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: for you is just silly. Kergovic and uh David Adeleine.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: You know you have some fights. I'm not saying there's
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: no good fights at all, it's just, you know, until
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: Canelo Crawford, you know, it does overall get dry, especially
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: when you compare it to you know what we got
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: in July. We always kind of knew this, but when
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: you look like Matchroom and PBC and Top Rank, and
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: it's just there's not a lot on the schedule right now.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: And maybe that Vronte fighting, you know, his fight's gonna
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: get pushed. I've heard maybe October, but I don't know. Okay,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: So as we kind of wind down the show, you know,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Turkey came out and he was like, you know what,
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: basically coming off like a it's like during the week
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: of a pay per view, you know. So that's what's
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: kind of makes you scratch your head because you're like, what, okay,
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: so you're saying it ruins the sport, but hey, by
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: the way, you know, anyway, he said, great meetings with
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: my brother Shay CEO of his own. We have big
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: vision to grow boxing. We have big visions to grow
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: boxing and decide we have basically decided no more pay
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: per view. Starting with our Ring magazine show in November,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: all Riot season and Ring events will be free to
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: disone subscribers. The pay per view model has damaged boxing
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: and will no longer and we will no longer support it.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: We are with the fight fans. Right. So he's saying
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: no pay per view, it's done nothing, no more pay
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: per view, right, And you're like, Okay, well that's cool,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: you know, like all right, you know, do I do?
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I still think what I talked about last week would
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: be a positive, you know where you know, I talked
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: about how the Zone has a deal with you know,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: soccer rights deal and TNT and HBO Max and you know,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: seeing like the Zone and tn T, you know, like
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: partnering up there to where I saw a lot of
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: his own stuff watching soccer here in the summer, and
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: I was like, okay, you know that tournament and whatnot.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: I'm not a big soccer fan, but they're a football fan,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: you know. But like, you know, to secure even a
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: decent rights deal, or, like I said, a time buy.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Since you're willing to put up all this money, I
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: just don't see how that'd be a bad thing. Now.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I understand Saudi has a large investment in his own
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: and twenty thirty, they probably want that to be their
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: worldwide streaming platform that they do this on, and maybe
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: they'll get money or do deals with you know, other
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: broadcasts like the TNT thing, and that's you know that'll
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: be in twenty thirty, you know, I don't know. But
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: it's just so he says, no more pay per views done.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: It's real. It's really it's it's hurt. It hurt the sport.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: You know. So you go from saying, you know what,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: my bad. You know it the pay it damaged boxing.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: It did the payrew model has damaged boxing. Well, you
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: know when you do three in a seven day stretch,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: that's when it really damages boxing. Right. But then then literally,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: I think the next day, if I remember correctly from
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: last week, all of a sudden, the Zone puts this,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: uh you know, it puts out this press release and
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: they're talking about you know, ring magazine cards, reout season.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: You know it's actually not gonna be just you know,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: all part of your subscription. It's it's this in app
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: monthly subscription called the Ring Pass. So wait what like
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: so it's a subscription within your subscription, so it kinda
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, like signing up for the Zone
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Like if you if you signed up for an annual
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Zone package, just straight up, you would have gotten this
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: pay per view for you, this one, this last one.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: And then I think if you just did the paper
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: on its own, you have seven days of his own boxing, right.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: But this is the press release. Okay. You know you
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: talk about collaborating, You talk about Turkey and Rheon and
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: Ring and Queensberry match from Golden Boy, many more, delivering
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: the biggest names, the most iconic venues, unforgettable nights that
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: reach millions across the world. Now we're entering the next phase.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: As reported by several let's we hope to launch in
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: the future, the Ring Pass, a premium global monthly subscription
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: backed by the Zone rehad season the Ring one simple subscription,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: every fight, all pay per views included. That's our ambition.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: We're currently shaping the details, working closely with the partners
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: to bring this to life, with the goal of making
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: boxing easier to access, simple to follow, and better value
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: for the fans who want everything. Okay, so one they
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: call it the ring Pass, one simple subscription, so that
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: even sounds weird too, So you mean, are there gonna
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: be tears? So you're already a subscriber, then you got
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: to pay a little bit more or is it you
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: just pay more for your subscription. Either way, it's it's
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: kind of weird to be like, no more pay views.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: But then they say one simple subscription every fight, all
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: pay per views included, so therefore you're not in this
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: press release. It makes it sound like you're not stopping
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: the pay per view. The pay per views done the
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: damage to the sport, right, that's what he said, But
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: we're still going to happen or are you or are
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: you not? You know, so in that shade, dude even
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you know had a tweet saying, you know, making the
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: sports the sport bigger, more accessive, right coming soon or
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: transitioned by you know one from a one off purchase
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: model to a monthly subscription. So that's two subscriptions, you know.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: And then like I said, okay, for hardcorees, we don't
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: want to pay for eight pay per views or whatever.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: A year, so we're gonna get a deal on it. Cool. Okay,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: it's great for hardcores, but then again, like, how is
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: that going to make them? How's it going to grow
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: the sport? Because you're saying you're still gonna have pay
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: per views, but you can do one subscription or an
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: extra subscription and that'll cover the whole year. Like I said,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: great for hardcores, no doubt, But what's that got to
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: do with growth? Then? And you know, he was on
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: the Boxing Voice, you know, talking about switching from pay
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: per view to regular dizone, which you know that's not
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: just regular dizone, But he said, what is the point
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: of subscribing if a normal man in my normal man
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: in my home. Oh, if I'm a normal man in
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: my home and you make me pay ten to fifteen
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: pay per views on top of the subscription for eighty ninety,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: what's the point of my subscription? Well that's what we've
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: been wandering too in a sense, right, But you're talking
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: about ten or fifteen pay per views, so yeah, And
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: he went on to say some other stuff about, you know,
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: the growth and how this is going to grow the sport,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: and I just how, like, how is this going to
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: grow the sport and the numbers he was talking about.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: It's kind of like, so you he was talking about
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: five anywhere from five to twenty million subscribers. That's what
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: this is the whole thing like in the UK and
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: the US. This this is what he said, right, he said,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: maybe we'll split the cards in three divisions, A plus
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: B and C. First of all, that's kind of weird marketing.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: That's a C product. You know, C will be charged.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: We'll charge it with the Zone with little money. Okay,
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: so one of our people just did a whole year.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Now you're going to change the package. Are they going
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: to be able to do the little money or did
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: they already pay for that? You know what I mean?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: The Bee will be middle money and with a lump
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: sum one time from the Zone and that's it. And
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: he goes on to say this will make does Zone
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: have a fan base in America and UK and around
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: the world? Oh and around the world. I didn't. I
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: didn't see that part to fifteen to twenty million subscribers
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: and this is good for both of us, good for
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: the boxing business and good for boxing. So don't they
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: already have over five million? Because I remember seeing the
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: American UK, and I thought he meant but it says
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: in around the world. So don't you already have between
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: that amount of money or sorry subscribers, don't you already
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: have that? I don't know. It's just kind of like,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: so you're still gonna have pay per views the way
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: you say it, so this one fee you can get
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: all the pay views? Does he mean like you can
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: get those big fights. We're still gonna do those big fights.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: But if you don't pay that premium, then you can't.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: And then if you do have the pay per views,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: are they still only on his zone or you're gonna
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: have them more accessible? I don't know. It makes it
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: feel like there's still gonna be pay per views. And
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: when you ask for a sub which is expensive for
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: the average subscription compared to other streaming outlets. And then
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: and I'm talking about the semi casual fight fan, right,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: the casual, the semi casual. I like this spider, I
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: like that fighter. But I watched some fights throughout a year.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: Maybe I watch, you know, the semi casuals, or they'll
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: watch like, uh, like they're boxing fans. No doubt they
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: are boxing fans, but they may watch once a month
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: or something like that, twice a month tops. Like, it's
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: just hard beyond the hardcore of the hardcore. It's hard
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: to talk people into like, hey, dude, not only do
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: you have to be a subscriber, you have to be
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: you have to have a second subscription. But that'll cover
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: you for the full year, Okay, if you make it
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: priced right right away, like very inexpensive, kind of like
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: his own was when it first came out. When you're
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: really getting bang for your buck, Okay, that'd be different.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: But and ultimately I got to see the numbers and
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: what they're you know, what it entails right to make
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: the ultimate you know, review on it, to actually give
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: my whole thoughts on it. But it just doesn't I
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: don't get it, Like I don't you know. Don't you
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: already have like ten to fifteen to twenty million subscribers worldwide,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: that's what the reports say you're talking about we'll have
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: five to twenty million people. Are you talking about the
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: new subscription or are you talking about overall? You know,
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: it's just it's it's weird and to go from no
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: pay per views to this the next day. It's it's
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: just like dude, what what kind of business are you
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: guys running? And then a little follow up on the
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: soccer right steal. I don't know if people missed it
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: or whatever, but I was watching TNT. I was watching
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: the tournament they had in the summer. It wasn't that
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: long ago. I'm not a big soccer fan, right, I
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: do watch it in the summer, you know, whether it's
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Premier League or MLS or whatever. You know, some of
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: these tournaments, some of these you know, friendlies, national friendlies, whatever.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: And I just kept seeing the zone on the broadcast.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: It's either available on this or on the zone.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: So they and I looked into it more, and you know,
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: I just was I was given an example of, you know,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: what they could do, whether it's time by or just
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: get a little, you know, a decent licensing fee. And
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: TNT does now now that they don't have the NBA,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: they do have more money lying around. I'm not saying
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: they're gonna spend all the money that they'd spend for
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: the NBA. I'm just saying that you can't tell me
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: having it on TNT and HBO Max wouldn't be better
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: than just Zone. It's just just the sheer number of subs,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: and you could say worldwide. If you always say worldwide, cool,
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: well let's go worldwide, then you know. And so I
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: don't know. I was just given an example of what
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: could possibly be. Now I did get I have gotten
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: a little information on the kind of like the the
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Ali Act revisited, the revival and how t k O
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: and how this plays into it. Basically, they want to
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: come up with their own belt, their own sactiony stuff.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: Doesn't sound like they're going to charge people fees. YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: I gotta read the First of all, the bill hasn't passed,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: and I'm not saying it will pass. I think it
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: will pass, but I haven't read the bill yet, and
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: it's one thing to read it, and then it's another
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: thing to ask questions to people that really know what
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: everything is, you know, lawyers and all that shit. So
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: I'm not going to comment on it right now. I
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: haven't read it, and so I think that wouldn't be
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: a good way to go about it. Okay, let's see
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: here did you do do? I did get a message
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: for uh Nishant dev with the stoppage O for Evans.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Someone messaged me saying it's like a screenshot of eleven.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: His stoppage generated more than eleven million views on Matchroom's Instagram,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: so he's three and zero. Watch out for him. I
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: did go and check that out. I did see some
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: brunch boxing talk about Premiere Boxing Champion has a huge
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Amazon Prime event tenably scheduled for September twentieth at the
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: Crypto Arena in LA and it sounds like it wouldn't
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: be a pay per view, it'd just be on Amazon.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: That would be great. That would be great. Obviously, they
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: have some fights that were talked about. Ain't gonna be
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: part of that August sixteenth card. Maybe that's thrown in there.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: Mertizz Martiz. How do you say that fucking guy's name?
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Why do I always fuck that up? Bachrum? I'll just
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: say Martiz something like that. I don't know why I
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: can't say it. I should have it in front of
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: me that way I can actually say it better. But
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: I know him and Lubin basically they have till August fourth.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: According to Jake Donovan boxing scene story that I saw
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: that it's formally basically Demando ericson Lubin. It's been formally
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: announced and they have, you know, they they have to
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: reach a deal or it's gonna be pers bid. So
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I really like that fight. Another fifty four pound fight
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: that you know, I'm excited for. I think that's pretty cool. Also,
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I heard WBO, you know, order to fight intram light
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: heavyweight but belt between Kelliam Smith and David Morrell. Morell
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: just fought not long ago, obviously, and they have you know,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: thirty days or agreement to avoid per st bit all that.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: That's a good fight though. That's a really good fight.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: Josh Taylor also retire from the sport. I saw this
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: on brunch Boxing. I saw that first on them, then
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: I went to his page. You know, damn good fighter,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: had a great career. I think that's that's pretty dope.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: I also saw that the WBO is set to order
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: expected to order Usik versus Joseph Parker. If he keeps going,
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: that's probably who I think he'll fight next. Looks like
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: Zerdo had the surgery that he's been kind of I
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: guess holding off. Here's a little boxing Twitter stuff. Adrian
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: Delgado always been a fan of Van Rodriguez. He was
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: there covering the fight, but seeing him live with something
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: else pure poetry in motion in the ring, the footwork, pressure, combination,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: aggressive aggression and all live staying defensively sound, total package,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: all time great in the making with his prime a
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: couple of years away. Yet, dude, that's well said. You
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: know Adam at s in boxing, this is one of
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: the examples. I have no idea how Cooley made cruiserway
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: sixty pounds bigger and he doesn't look flabby at all.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: I disagree with that one. I disagree with that. Also
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: saw that Jose Benavidez Senior said Turkey wants to meet
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: your vivil to face Benavidez after the trilogy. Okay, well,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: wonder if the Turbia wins then then can he get him?
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Does he get the fight? Oh? I forgot to mention.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: Uh the Lopez Vargas fight. Uh it was a split draw.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: I believe that was from Pachenga. I did actually see
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: that fight. That's probably you know, there's been a lot
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: of back and forth with the drug testing, with Hainey saying,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: you know, he wants him to start drug test now,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: the body testing, Norman Jr. Saying Hey, we're gonna do
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: it earlier than the normally people do. So you know
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: I could see both sides like, hey, dude, I'm already
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: going over, you know, because it's gonna be something like
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: a twenty week testing period and usually it's about half
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: of that. So I don't know. To me, it's just
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I can understand obviously why the Haines are worried about it,
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: but in the same breath, it's like, is it in
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: the contract? Is If it's not in the contract, then
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: I don't know what to tell you. You know, I
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: think it's nothing much do about nothing. I think this
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: is what they do. They play the media, they do
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: their thing, and that's what they do. This is part
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: of their their stick. It's a great fight. It's not canceled.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Hopefully nothing weird happens. I don't anticipate it anyway. I'll
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: be back next week. I'm gonna shut it down. Yeah.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: I like when people message me. I appreciate always, whether
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: it's good, bad, or ugly. Whatever. The David Morrell Calliam
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: Smith fight. I do really like that fight. Hopefully that
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: gets done. I know there Benevetez and uh Calliam Smith
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: were in talks and they couldn't close the couldn't close
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: the gap. I guess Eddie Hearing said financially, so I
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: don't know what he would he get more to fight
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: benevide you know, morel than Benevidez. I don't think so.
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: But whatever, anyway, it does put you in the interim
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: status whatever that means really, because it doesn't make you
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: Mando next. I don't believe so. Anyway. Anyway, I'm gonna
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: get out here, enjoy the fights this weekend. See you
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: next week. Bas
