- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on Relatables Baddies Book Club I would kill
- 0:02Speaker 1: you I would do you a favour and kill you
- 0:05Speaker 1: because you want to die.
- 0:07Speaker 2: You shouldn't be able to live life without me.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Oh, it wouldn't be easy Oh yeah, here we go
- 0:13Speaker 3: It wouldn't be easy bro, but I would be doing
- 0:15Speaker 3: you the biggest favour ever Welcome to Relatables Baddies Book
- 0:19Speaker 3: Club Where we will embark on a journey Reading some
- 0:22Speaker 3: of the finest pieces of literature you have ever laid
- 0:25Speaker 3: eyes Or is, if that's your preferred way.
- 0:27Speaker 2: To consume a book, on Oh no no no no
- 0:29Speaker 2: no no Queen of Shadows, chapters 20 through to 30.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Woo-hoo! Yes. I liked these chapters, and we said we're
- 0:41Speaker 1: just doing 10 to get nice and ahead so everyone
- 0:44Speaker 1: can get the episodes five days early again. Not a
- 0:48Speaker 1: huge amount of stuff happened, though. Some cool stuff, though.
- 0:50Speaker 2: We were kind of right in the sense of it
- 0:52Speaker 2: was a lot of dialogue, Dialogue and more depth to
- 0:57Speaker 2: the story, I guess.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Yeah, something did happen. There was a couple of things
- 1:00Speaker 1: that did happen. What I'm saying, not much action, but
- 1:05Speaker 1: there was some cool bomb drops. Yeah, the ending.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I was surprised with the ending. I didn't think that
- 1:09Speaker 2: was going to happen this soon either.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Is that chapter 30? Yeah. Because you read chapter 30? Wait,
- 1:15Speaker 1: 30 or 20?
- 1:15Speaker 2: No, I just mean it was simple. No, maybe not 30.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I've got the notes on my phone.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 2: No, I hear you too, yeah. Yeah, I just didn't
- 1:24Speaker 2: think that was going to happen so soon. They were
- 1:27Speaker 2: good though. I listened to like all of them while
- 1:30Speaker 2: cleaning and like cleaning went like that. Oh, yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I listened to like four hours of fucking Crescent City
- 1:38Speaker 1: the other day while I was cleaning my house after
- 1:40Speaker 1: having guests over when I got home. And it was
- 1:44Speaker 1: like 11 and then it was 4 p.m. and I
- 1:47Speaker 1: was like, fuck. Yeah, it's good.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Sometimes I get in the zone of cleaning too much, though,
- 1:50Speaker 2: and then I have to rewind. I was like, shit,
- 1:52Speaker 2: I forgot what I was listening to.
- 1:56Speaker 1: No, I hear you. I hear you with that. I
- 1:58Speaker 1: fully hear you.
- 1:59Speaker 2: But before we get into today's episode, Jake, there was
- 2:01Speaker 2: a big bomb drop in the Sarah J Maas universe,
- 2:06Speaker 2: wasn't there?
- 2:06Speaker 1: There was. I saw it this morning.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I initially thought it was AI.
- 2:11Speaker 1: So I didn't- Could it be? Could it be?
- 2:14Speaker 2: I don't know. Because a couple of baddies sent it
- 2:16Speaker 2: on Instagram and I was like, I thought it was
- 2:19Speaker 2: AI because I was like, surely there hasn't been a
- 2:20Speaker 2: leak a month early. It's a month and a half
- 2:22Speaker 2: early of what the premise and like it's a little
- 2:27Speaker 2: bit of audio book from the new book A Court
- 2:31Speaker 2: of Splintered Harmony.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Fuck, bro. Which is crazy. So you don't think it's
- 2:36Speaker 1: like a proper leak? You think they meant to put
- 2:38Speaker 1: it out?
- 2:39Speaker 2: The only reason I think it's real is because the
- 2:40Speaker 2: narrator is the same as the other books.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense then.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I thought we could maybe listen to it and then
- 2:46Speaker 2: talk about it before we get into the chapter summaries.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah, sounds good to me. I'm keen. I haven't heard it.
- 2:51Speaker 4: The howling rain-lashed wind robbed every lingering ember of warmth
- 2:55Speaker 4: from Asriel. The scales of his black armor did nothing
- 2:59Speaker 4: against the lethal cold carried within those howls. Neither did
- 3:03Speaker 4: his siphons, their blue light unearthly through the downpour slicking
- 3:07Speaker 4: every stone in the Montessarian mountain pass. Nor his shadows.
- 3:12Speaker 4: barely hanging on to his half-frozen wings amid the gusting
- 3:16Speaker 4: veils of rain. Five centuries of training kept him focused, though,
- 3:22Speaker 4: allowed him to silence the screaming in his head, the
- 3:25Speaker 4: body that demanded he find heat and find it fast.
- 3:30Speaker 4: He wasn't here to coddle himself. He had a task
- 3:33Speaker 4: to complete. Another hair-raising howl rent the night, so hollow
- 3:38Speaker 4: and sharp that as could have sworn even the rain shuddered.
- 3:42Speaker 4: He'd gone further than he should have. Recent Feyre's orders
- 3:46Speaker 4: had been specific. Observe, but do not engage. Yet how
- 3:51Speaker 4: could he not? How could he turn back when answers
- 3:54Speaker 4: were so close, even if their enemies were too? A
- 3:58Speaker 4: simple whisper had sent him here, a whisper overheard by
- 4:02Speaker 4: his foulest of spies, stationed for months now in the
- 4:05Speaker 4: mountains encircling Koschei, the Deathless's rotting castles.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Okay, so that's it. That's all of it. That's it.
- 4:12Speaker 2: So it's not too much, but you know what that's
- 4:15Speaker 2: alluding to?
- 4:16Speaker 1: What?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Asriel POV.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Obviously, yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I thought you would be more like, oh my God.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I mean, I am stoked with that. Yeah. But you
- 4:26Speaker 1: told me before we listened to it, before we started recording,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you said that you're annoyed.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I wanted to be caught off guard and go back
- 4:33Speaker 2: to some cool war with Rhys and Feyre. It obviously
- 4:36Speaker 2: was going to be an Asriel.
- 4:37Speaker 1: POV, but it was like, oh, okay, sure.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 2: No, I think I'm for it.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm for it. Okay. I'm for it. I'm happy with it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I think that it's going to be, I don't think
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's going to be actually as much as real POV
- 4:51Speaker 1: as we think. I think that it is going to be,
- 4:58Speaker 1: my prediction is that it's going to be like sort
- 5:03Speaker 1: of throne of glass. Well, I guess queen of shadows
- 5:06Speaker 1: is a good, good example because, queen of shadows this
- 5:08Speaker 1: is from the pov of selena you'll get an aiden
- 5:12Speaker 1: chapter a dorian chapter you'll get a fucking elite chapter
- 5:16Speaker 1: you'll get a manon chapter like you'll get a kale
- 5:19Speaker 1: chapter you just get there's so many different characters you
- 5:23Speaker 1: reckon it's gonna go to that i think that it's
- 5:25Speaker 1: gonna it's gonna morph in well we've had the race
- 5:27Speaker 1: pov did we get cassian's well cassian i guess is
- 5:30Speaker 1: sort of with nesters because it was really a Like
- 5:34Speaker 1: we call a quarter silver flames in Esther's book, but
- 5:36Speaker 1: it's like 50% Cassian. True. Let's be real.
- 5:41Speaker 2: And I don't know why.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:43Speaker 2: I'm still in the air.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I just wanted something more, even though it's probably just
- 5:48Speaker 2: a teaser. But apparently I was just reading the comments
- 5:50Speaker 2: and it came from like.
- 5:52Speaker 1: The people who produce the audio book. So it's real. Okay. Nah, fair.
- 5:57Speaker 1: They must have got a permission. Imagine they didn't get
- 5:59Speaker 1: permission to release that.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Just release it. I was thinking, you know how the
- 6:02Speaker 2: new iPhone's coming out the end of this week, actually,
- 6:05Speaker 2: as we're recording this. So, the day this episode comes out,
- 6:07Speaker 2: the new iPhone's out. I was like, imagine the iPhone release,
- 6:12Speaker 2: but instead it's book six release. And everyone goes and like,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I don't know, there's an early release and everyone gets
- 6:20Speaker 2: little teasers and there's chapters everywhere and you're like, oh
- 6:23Speaker 2: my God, that'd be so sick.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I reckon... if Apple somehow could have partnered with Sarah
- 6:28Speaker 1: J Maas and was like, cause the books are obviously done,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know, both book six and seven are obviously done,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but if they could have somehow been like, yo, we
- 6:38Speaker 1: want to pay you X amount. And everyone that buys
- 6:44Speaker 1: a brand new iPhone within the first week of its release.
- 6:48Speaker 2: With the burgundy phone.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Burgundy. Everyone that buys the burgundy iPhone within, within
- 6:53Speaker 1: the week of its release, they get, the full book
- 6:57Speaker 1: six pre-downloaded. So they get to listen to it.
- 7:00Speaker 2: That would be so sick. And then make it like
- 7:04Speaker 2: on Apple podcasts or whatever they do. It would have
- 7:07Speaker 2: been like, cause Apple has a books app too. Yeah.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So it would have been on Apple's, Apple has a
- 7:11Speaker 1: books app. So it would have been like on Apple
- 7:13Speaker 1: books or whatever. So that would have.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Been so sick. They would have missed opportunity.
- 7:18Speaker 1: I would have bought one. They would have sold so
- 7:22Speaker 1: many phones, bro. Not even funny.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's so fun.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Anyway, baddies, we should get into the summary recap and, yeah,
- 7:33Speaker 1: get into it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Everyone's glad we're back to our roots with you.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I saw.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Reading and letting the baddies relive through you.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I saw the comments and I just thought, fuck it, amazing.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You know what? One thing I was thinking too was,
- 7:49Speaker 1: so we were doing fourth wing and that's sort of
- 7:55Speaker 1: when we were like getting over it. right and i
- 7:58Speaker 1: was still doing the chapter summaries like that and then
- 8:01Speaker 1: i think what we kind of thought was like oh
- 8:04Speaker 1: we're just not liking this format but well i think
- 8:09Speaker 1: what it was is that we weren't really like into
- 8:13Speaker 1: fourth wing yeah if that makes sense and so i
- 8:17Speaker 1: think we've always been sort of into this format but.
- 8:20Speaker 2: We just need a book that we really like That
- 8:23Speaker 2: makes sense. It felt more like work doing those episodes
- 8:27Speaker 2: than it did enjoyment, whereas these feel fun. Like that
- 8:29Speaker 2: 20 chapters we did last time, I can remember in
- 8:32Speaker 2: fourth wing, if we did.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That, we would have been like, fuck. Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Whereas that went so quick and it was so good.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And it's funny because I think fourth wing, personally, I
- 8:41Speaker 1: went and finished them, really, really liked them. I honestly do.
- 8:46Speaker 1: It's kind of giving like, honestly, it's giving sort of,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know how, throne of glass has been really big
- 8:55Speaker 1: build up one big issue that they're going to come
- 8:57Speaker 1: to at book eight and then how i was talking
- 8:59Speaker 1: about akatar being like big issue fixed big issue fixed
- 9:02Speaker 1: they have to kind of create a new issue each
- 9:04Speaker 1: book yeah i feel like fourth wing is going to
- 9:07Speaker 1: be more like throne of glass where it's like big
- 9:10Speaker 1: issue but we don't fully fully understand the issue yet
- 9:16Speaker 1: if you if you can be bothered i recommend reading
- 9:18Speaker 1: it so then when the new books come out We
- 9:21Speaker 1: can do them book club because I think they'll be good.
- 9:23Speaker 2: When are they meant to be released? There wouldn't be
- 9:25Speaker 2: any time near Sarah J Maas, would there?
- 9:27Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Not for ages.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It's like Harry Styles and JB of the book world.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They don't release at the same time.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It's like Drake being like, oh, I want to release
- 9:36Speaker 1: an album. And then Taylor Swift goes, I'm releasing one. So,
- 9:38Speaker 1: he's like, well, I'll wait a year. You know what
- 9:40Speaker 1: I mean? Anyway. Okay, guys. Chapter 20. We're recapping every chapter,
- 9:51Speaker 1: thoughts and theories to every plot twist. We'll break it
- 9:55Speaker 1: down for you. all right so we got a cheeky
- 9:59Speaker 1: little elide and manon chapter i believe it was or
- 10:04Speaker 1: might have just been a manon chapter anyway so we
- 10:07Speaker 1: find out that i think is it pronounced elide are
- 10:10Speaker 1: you listening yeah it's elide elide yeah so elide is
- 10:14Speaker 1: a child of terrison which we knew but but her
- 10:17Speaker 1: father was the lord of parent or parent and um
- 10:23Speaker 1: he so when the king of ardalan or rift told
- 10:28Speaker 1: or whatever he was doing his shit her uncle elise
- 10:31Speaker 1: uncle swore fealty to the king and fucking basically i
- 10:37Speaker 1: don't know somehow got it so her elise father was
- 10:40Speaker 1: like slaughtered and then the uncle stole the title so
- 10:43Speaker 1: he's lord of parents and elise actually the heir of
- 10:46Speaker 1: parents she should be the lord of parents because her
- 10:47Speaker 1: father died anyways And so, Madden's wigging out. She's kind
- 10:52Speaker 1: of finding out some stuff. And she realizes that Elid
- 10:57Speaker 1: has no idea she's part witch. And then it's like,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you know, she kind of goes, I think she, I
- 11:05Speaker 1: don't know if she tells her right then or if
- 11:06Speaker 1: she waits or whatever. Anyway, Madden's kind of like, girl,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you got witch in you, whatever. So, Madden goes to
- 11:11Speaker 1: talk to one of her 13. And one of her 13,
- 11:13Speaker 1: she talks to the oldest one who is very smart
- 11:16Speaker 1: and spent time 12 years of her life, her, for
- 11:19Speaker 1: some reason, this witch's mom was like, you're going to
- 11:21Speaker 1: school with humans or something. I don't know. She went
- 11:24Speaker 1: to school in Terrace up in the North and they
- 11:27Speaker 1: learned all about the Valk. So she's asking her about
- 11:30Speaker 1: the Valk. And she goes, so the Valk were here
- 11:32Speaker 1: a long time ago. They basically just came in and
- 11:37Speaker 1: mated with the Fae. I don't know if the Fae
- 11:40Speaker 1: were wanted to mate with them or not, but like
- 11:41Speaker 1: they had offspring with the Fae and that is what
- 11:44Speaker 1: created the witches. And so, Her name's Ghislaine, this witch
- 11:49Speaker 1: that knows this stuff. She's kind of, you know, against
- 11:55Speaker 1: the whole Vowg thing. And she puts two and two together.
- 11:58Speaker 1: She goes, oh, they're here, aren't they? And Madden's kind
- 12:00Speaker 1: of like, yeah, I don't know. I'll leave that up
- 12:02Speaker 1: to your imagination type shit because she's, for some reason,
- 12:04Speaker 1: not allowed to say anything. But King Brannan, which is
- 12:08Speaker 1: the one that's buried underneath the castle, who actually found
- 12:12Speaker 1: the word keys and hid them, He's the one that
- 12:15Speaker 1: gave the witches the Western Wastes. They were a new
- 12:17Speaker 1: breed of being.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't have anywhere. And then he gave them
- 12:21Speaker 2: like the worst place there was just to have something.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But they all really want it back. Yeah, yeah. It's
- 12:27Speaker 1: their home. The witches should just go fuck shit up,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I reckon, take everything anyway. And then they're having some
- 12:33Speaker 1: dinner and one of the yellow legs, witches or whatever,
- 12:37Speaker 1: comes up to Manon and is like, I want to
- 12:40Speaker 1: volunteer to be the bearer of the Valkchild.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Crazy. For the VALG, are you like... I'm picturing like
- 12:50Speaker 2: shadow people in my head.
- 12:53Speaker 1: What I picture for the VALG for some reason is
- 12:55Speaker 1: just like someone... Well, so the VALG are obviously possessing people. Yeah.
- 13:01Speaker 1: But if I was to picture a VALG, I assume
- 13:03Speaker 1: they just can't be in this world yet.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Has there been a description of like their look at all?
- 13:09Speaker 1: There hasn't. I don't think so. But I'm picturing like
- 13:14Speaker 1: literally just... human but imagine human that just looks like
- 13:19Speaker 1: a black portal into the abyss.
- 13:22Speaker 2: That's basically i'm thinking like yeah the shape of a
- 13:24Speaker 2: human but then they're just like shadowy form yeah and
- 13:27Speaker 2: they move around.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Like that i think that's what i'm thinking too honestly
- 13:31Speaker 1: chapter 21 we've got a dorian chapter yeah a boy
- 13:37Speaker 1: he's like pretty much he's like yeah i'm i think
- 13:42Speaker 1: he's come to terms with the And he talks about trying. So,
- 13:48Speaker 1: when Selene was about to kill him and she said,
- 13:51Speaker 1: show me a sign and I'll leave, brother. If he
- 13:55Speaker 1: talks about that and he doesn't remember her name, he
- 13:57Speaker 1: says like, I'm thinking about that. I forget her name.
- 14:00Speaker 1: And then he's like, he hates her for not killing him.
- 14:04Speaker 2: He just wants to die. It must be bad in there, eh?
- 14:07Speaker 1: Bro. Bro.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Fucking, like, imagine. You got to feel a bit bad
- 14:12Speaker 2: for Dorian, don't you?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like Dorian now. Yeah, I know.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Big Dorian guy now.
- 14:18Speaker 2: He just wants to die now too because he knows
- 14:20Speaker 2: what's right and he's like, I can't do anything.
- 14:22Speaker 1: It's just helpless. The woman he loves turns out to
- 14:26Speaker 1: be a rebel and is feeding the information they talk
- 14:30Speaker 1: about that he thinks is in private out to her contacts, right?
- 14:33Speaker 1: He finds that out and he's like, obviously still loves
- 14:36Speaker 1: her and then literally a minute later watches her head
- 14:39Speaker 1: get chopped off. And then, and then, He shows his
- 14:46Speaker 1: father his magic to save his friend that he currently hates.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And then his father fucks him up and puts a
- 14:54Speaker 1: collar on him. Yeah, you get a collar. And now
- 14:56Speaker 1: he's possessed. Like, you can't, you have to feel bad
- 15:00Speaker 1: for that guy. Chapter 22. Kael is, he believes Dorian's
- 15:07Speaker 1: still in there, basically. He thinks Dorian's still in there.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He hates Selene for trying to kill him. And he
- 15:14Speaker 1: will not accept the fact that it would have been
- 15:16Speaker 1: mercy to Dorian. Here's the thing, right? I think I'm
- 15:22Speaker 1: annoyed that Kael's so hell-bent on this, like, Dorian's in there,
- 15:25Speaker 1: Dorian's in there type shit. Because, let me, like, so
- 15:30Speaker 1: Dorian wants to die. That's what he wants. He wants
- 15:34Speaker 1: to die. And obviously, because he is not dead yet,
- 15:39Speaker 1: he's going to be saved. Yeah. And we're going to
- 15:42Speaker 1: have a Dorian. A lot of Dorian left in the series, right?
- 15:45Speaker 1: And he's going to obviously become king after they kill
- 15:47Speaker 1: his dad. But it annoys me, like, if you were
- 15:56Speaker 1: possessed by a demon. You'd let me die. And I knew,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and I was like in the same situation as Selena,
- 16:06Speaker 1: where I had faced three of said demons, right?
- 16:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And I also faced a commander who was wearing a
- 16:13Speaker 1: collar and was possessed by a demon. You're a doggie.
- 16:17Speaker 1: And then when I kill this guy, this commander, he's
- 16:21Speaker 1: literally looking at me like, thank you. He doesn't even
- 16:24Speaker 1: want to be saved. I would kill you. I would
- 16:28Speaker 1: do you a favor and kill you because you want
- 16:30Speaker 1: to die.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You shouldn't be able to live life without me.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Oh, it wouldn't be easy. Oh, yeah. Here we go.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It wouldn't be easy, bro, but I would be doing
- 16:39Speaker 1: you the biggest favor ever.
- 16:41Speaker 2: You'd probably be like, man, that felt good. Oddy was
- 16:46Speaker 2: doing bad. Because it wouldn't feel good.
- 16:50Speaker 1: It would not feel good at all.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I did that guy a favor.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Let's say this. Let's say this.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I risk the kingdom, right, trying to save you.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Hmm. Let's just say I save you. You're going to
- 17:05Speaker 1: be so fucked up in the head for the rest
- 17:10Speaker 1: of your life that you're probably going to kill yourself anyway. Like,
- 17:13Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying?
- 17:15Speaker 2: But that's a decision for me to make.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Not while you're possessed by a demon. It's a decision
- 17:19Speaker 1: for me to make.
- 17:21Speaker 2: But if you find out a way to heal me,
- 17:23Speaker 2: then if I want to kill myself, I can kill myself.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I mean, I guess. I see your point. I guess
- 17:32Speaker 2: you're making the decision for me. It's like Dorian's no
- 17:35Speaker 2: longer in there.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah. But here's the thing. He is.
- 17:40Speaker 2: He is because he tried to show a sign, but
- 17:43Speaker 2: he just didn't have control to do so.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So he is in there. So I guess the point
- 17:48Speaker 1: of this actually is the fact that Cale is sort
- 17:50Speaker 1: of correct because Dorian is in there. He just doesn't
- 17:55Speaker 1: really remember anything. And when he comes out, do you
- 17:59Speaker 1: think he's got to remember anything at all or will
- 18:01Speaker 1: it all come back to him?
- 18:02Speaker 2: I reckon Kale will kiss Dorian and then he'll bring him.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Out. You think a kiss from Kale is going to
- 18:10Speaker 1: ring Dorian out? Yeah. You're off chops, bro. That's crazy. Hey,
- 18:16Speaker 1: it could happen. I'm sure stranger things have happened. I
- 18:20Speaker 1: just don't think this is giving like, what's the Sleeping
- 18:22Speaker 1: Beauty one where it's like.
- 18:24Speaker 2: A kiss wakes her up? Just know if I'm ever possessed, mate,
- 18:28Speaker 2: kiss my elf.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I mean i hey i'll try all the things i
- 18:32Speaker 1: don't know if a demon would let me kiss him
- 18:33Speaker 1: but to get close enough probably suck my soul out
- 18:37Speaker 1: all right chapter 23 and 24 we get so adion
- 18:44Speaker 1: has been all sorts of injured but him and selena
- 18:51Speaker 1: they have a proper reunion yeah where she's like chilling
- 18:54Speaker 1: there and he wakes up and then they talk and
- 18:56Speaker 1: he's crying she's crying type thing right and i for
- 19:00Speaker 1: some reason so i can picture selena but when i
- 19:03Speaker 1: picture him like they're supposed to look like twins he's
- 19:07Speaker 1: obviously a lot bigger he's just a male version but
- 19:09Speaker 1: they're supposed to look like literal twins um but i'm
- 19:12Speaker 1: struggling to picture.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Him yeah i'm not picturing him looking like so similar
- 19:18Speaker 2: i especially because like the gender but I guess just
- 19:21Speaker 2: because of how much they resonated with each other's backgrounds
- 19:24Speaker 2: and how they felt made me be able to feel
- 19:27Speaker 2: the connection.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I thought it was really cool how he also
- 19:32Speaker 1: has the inner dialogue of... He talks about always being
- 19:37Speaker 1: jealous of his men, the Bane. His men are called
- 19:43Speaker 1: the Bane. So they'll be talking and they talk about
- 19:46Speaker 1: their families and stuff at home. And he was always
- 19:49Speaker 1: very jealous that he didn't have... that yeah but um
- 19:52Speaker 1: all that feeling he feels at home with selena and
- 19:56Speaker 1: he has family true family again which is sick i
- 19:59Speaker 1: thought that was a cool feeling very heartwarming and so
- 20:03Speaker 1: the pits well the that's the new vaults. So she's,
- 20:07Speaker 1: she's fucked the vaults up, but now there's a new
- 20:08Speaker 1: place open already called the pits. Basically. And, um, she
- 20:13Speaker 1: goes there with Kale and Nezrin and there's a fighting pit.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Of course it's called the pits. So Arabin's there and
- 20:21Speaker 1: these pits have opened up and Arabin and a bunch
- 20:23Speaker 1: of other people are wanting to pay in and gain control.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Cause it's one of the ways they like get the
- 20:29Speaker 1: information fed to them and shit. Right. And so the
- 20:31Speaker 1: new owners of the pits are kind of like umming
- 20:32Speaker 1: and ahhing about who to take money from. And so,
- 20:35Speaker 1: There's also another thing I forgot to mention was that
- 20:39Speaker 1: all of the Valg disappeared basically. Like the nests disappeared
- 20:45Speaker 1: where they were taking the humans and Kayle can't find
- 20:47Speaker 1: them again. And so she brought Kayle because there's Valg
- 20:53Speaker 1: troops in the crowd and Erebin must have known this
- 20:58Speaker 1: and he was doing Kayle a favor of being like, well,
- 21:00Speaker 1: you can track them now. So she is at the
- 21:05Speaker 1: pits and She also was there because she had to
- 21:08Speaker 1: do something for Erebon. I can't remember. I don't know
- 21:10Speaker 1: why she had to do this. Anyway, so Erebon's kind
- 21:13Speaker 1: of like, I need you to fight one of the Valg.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I need you to get in there, fight. And I'm
- 21:17Speaker 1: pretty sure it was, oh, the reason was I think
- 21:20Speaker 1: she is still under the guise of like working for Erebon.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I think Erebon says that to the owners, like the
- 21:26Speaker 1: pit boss. And so she goes in. She challenges the
- 21:32Speaker 1: Valg commander of all people. He jumps down. He's like,
- 21:34Speaker 1: fuck off. I'm going to kill you, bitch. And then
- 21:37Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, yeah, right. Yeah. And so I think
- 21:39Speaker 1: because as it looks like she works for Arab and
- 21:42Speaker 1: the pit boss sees that she like fucks up this commander,
- 21:45Speaker 1: even though it's a valve, she like fully takes it.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Like she lets it go. They talk about the fight being,
- 21:50Speaker 1: it's from chaos POV. He talks about the fight being
- 21:52Speaker 1: kind of even sort of right. And Selena just is like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: he's like, I don't know who trained her or like
- 21:57Speaker 1: that Rowan guy training her. Fuck me dead. She's a
- 22:00Speaker 1: beast now. And then apparently Arab and gives her a
- 22:03Speaker 1: bit of a nod and he goes off. She was
- 22:05Speaker 1: letting it go on. And then she just like full
- 22:07Speaker 1: on breaks this thing's neck and doesn't give a shit.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And so that I think now Erevin will buy in
- 22:16Speaker 1: and like can offer protection and also be like, yeah, look,
- 22:18Speaker 1: we're beasts. So she kills it. But before the commander dies,
- 22:22Speaker 1: he's like, oh, I can feel the magic in your veins.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I should just take you straight to Morath or Morath
- 22:27Speaker 1: or whatever. And so now she knows where all the
- 22:30Speaker 1: people get taken to be turned into soldiers. Yeah. Information. So,
- 22:38Speaker 1: she comes out of the pit and she kills this thing.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Arabin's like, hey, what about our deal? I told you
- 22:43Speaker 1: I want a live one so I can question this
- 22:44Speaker 1: fucking thing. And she's like, sorry, bloodlust got the better
- 22:46Speaker 1: of me. And then for some reason, he is like, oh,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I have a gift for you. Do you want to
- 22:54Speaker 1: know where we buried Sam? And I was like, what?
- 22:57Speaker 2: Mind games, eh?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Anyway, she goes, what's the price? He goes, can't it
- 23:02Speaker 1: be a gift? And she goes, fuck sakes, whatever, bro.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Where is he? And then he was buried somewhere on
- 23:08Speaker 1: the outskirts of town, I think. But, okay, one thing
- 23:12Speaker 1: I think... So, obviously, I don't know if you're on
- 23:17Speaker 1: board with this yet, she's going to end up being
- 23:18Speaker 1: with Rowan, right? Agreed. I think that, for some reason,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I don't ship them together the same way that I ship, say,
- 23:29Speaker 1: Feyre and Rhys, or Cassian and Nestor, or in Crescent City,
- 23:33Speaker 1: Bryce and... I don't ship them together the same way
- 23:38Speaker 1: because it was like, I think, you know, in the
- 23:41Speaker 1: first two books, she falls in love with Kale, right? Well,
- 23:46Speaker 1: first of all, she like fucking makes out and sort
- 23:48Speaker 1: of falls in love with Dorian. And then she falls
- 23:51Speaker 1: actually in love quotes with Kale. And then we read
- 23:55Speaker 1: Assassin's Blade where she falls in love with Sam. And now,
- 23:59Speaker 1: and then we read Heir of Fire where she's clearly
- 24:01Speaker 1: starting to fall in love with Rowan. Like, to me,
- 24:04Speaker 1: it's like, we're four books and there's four different dudes. True.
- 24:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 24:11Speaker 2: To me, I can't ship them now.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I can't ship them.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Is that a depiction of young love?
- 24:17Speaker 1: I don't know, bro. It's just like, really? Because, like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I agree with you, too.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I also, like, you know, I know how she was
- 24:24Speaker 2: just playing in that fight, but they had a reference to, like,
- 24:27Speaker 2: this Rowan guy was trying to know if she's a
- 24:29Speaker 2: weapon now.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Like, she was the most notorious assassin of all time.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Like, why are they... Saying like, oh, she's such a
- 24:35Speaker 2: beast now because this man's trained her.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Oh, there's a reason. We find out. Should we be
- 24:40Speaker 1: fair though? Because Kayle has seen the fight.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Do you mean because we find out who Rowan is?
- 24:44Speaker 1: Is that the reason? Well, I think we don't, at
- 24:47Speaker 1: this point in the book, we don't find out exactly who,
- 24:49Speaker 1: like we know who Rowan is, but we don't find
- 24:51Speaker 1: out that he is who he is, right? And so
- 24:53Speaker 1: we find out in a few chapters, but at this
- 24:55Speaker 1: point in time, we know that Kayle has seen her
- 24:57Speaker 1: fight plenty of times. Yeah. And he's watching her again
- 25:00Speaker 1: and now she's even better. So he's like, who the
- 25:02Speaker 1: fuck is this Rowan guy? Right, right, right.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And the reason is because of Roland's background.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Pretty much, yeah. And I guess it makes sense that
- 25:10Speaker 1: he's a lot better because he's fucking 300, 400 years
- 25:13Speaker 1: old and she's like 20.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah, what's with the predator love in these books, eh? Yo,
- 25:18Speaker 2: there's something about all these fucking immortal beings falling in
- 25:24Speaker 2: love with a mortal 20-year-old woman.
- 25:28Speaker 1: It's like when you really say it out loud, it
- 25:31Speaker 1: sounds so, so sus. But maybe it's going to show
- 25:36Speaker 1: that it took these immortal beings, you know, anywhere from
- 25:41Speaker 1: like 500 to 1,000 years to get to.
- 25:45Speaker 2: The emotional maturity as a 20-year-old woman.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Legit. Oh, I'll tell you what.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You know how last episode I was struggling to wrap
- 25:54Speaker 2: my head around the length of each book? And I
- 25:57Speaker 2: thought Erofire was like two years and you said it
- 26:00Speaker 2: was about two months. The whole series, about he commented,
- 26:03Speaker 2: is a year or a year and a half.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I know. It's not long, eh? What? I know.
- 26:09Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Yeah, crazy, sir.
- 26:11Speaker 2: The amount of growth, that makes the love bit even harder.
- 26:15Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying, bro. She falls in love with fucking...
- 26:18Speaker 1: Because even if you think about it.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Because if you said it was like five or ten years,
- 26:21Speaker 2: I'd be like, oh yeah, fair enough.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Go back to the year she fell in love with Sam, right?
- 26:25Speaker 1: That was the year leading up to.
- 26:26Speaker 2: She should still be grieving it.
- 26:28Speaker 1: That was the year leading up to going to Endovia,
- 26:31Speaker 1: salt mines, right? And then she's in Endovia for a
- 26:34Speaker 1: year and then she gets out, right? And basically the
- 26:37Speaker 1: series starts from when she gets out of Endovia. So
- 26:39Speaker 1: if you go basically... from the start of Throne of
- 26:43Speaker 1: Glass to the end of Kingdom of Ash is a
- 26:45Speaker 1: year and a bit or whatever, right? Just add two
- 26:49Speaker 1: more years to the front of that. So it's like,
- 26:50Speaker 1: you know, three years and a bit. Fucking falls in
- 26:53Speaker 1: love with four dudes in three years. Like, I guess
- 26:56Speaker 1: it's not crazy, but also it's just for some reason
- 26:59Speaker 1: wigs me out and that's why I can't ship her
- 27:00Speaker 1: and Rowan. True. Yeah, you know, it's like, are you
- 27:04Speaker 1: just going to fucking fall in love with someone else, bro?
- 27:06Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You know, Rowan, bro. Rowan, he has his mate that dies.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And then he, it was like a hundred years ago
- 27:15Speaker 1: that she dies or something like that. Maybe it was
- 27:17Speaker 1: 200 years ago that he dies. And the next person
- 27:19Speaker 1: he's sort of falling in love with is Selina. True.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Like this guy mourned. He mourned for, he spent 10 years.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I don't, was it 10 years? He spent like 10
- 27:31Speaker 1: years or something in just the forest, just being a menace,
- 27:35Speaker 1: like not talking to anyone. And then that's when his
- 27:37Speaker 1: cater came and got him. Or Queen Maeve goes like,
- 27:40Speaker 1: right here, come on, mate. Like, let's fucking go. It's
- 27:42Speaker 1: been 10 years. Stop carrying on, mate. Let's do some work.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Did you have the prediction that Rowan and Selana were mated?
- 27:47Speaker 1: Yeah. You did, eh? Yeah. And the reason, because it's
- 27:51Speaker 1: because they're soul bonded and they're Carrara now.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with you too now. Like completely.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Definitely mated. Right. So chapter 25, Asteryn, she is obviously
- 28:04Speaker 1: the noun number three to Manon. She goes to talk
- 28:07Speaker 1: to a lead. And she's like, she goes down to
- 28:12Speaker 1: help her wash dishes and Elide's like stressing. And we
- 28:15Speaker 1: know that Elide's putting on this big act of like,
- 28:17Speaker 1: you know, being a fucking stammering little, I guess, wimp.
- 28:22Speaker 1: She's putting on this act and all the witches can
- 28:24Speaker 1: see through it. Keep in mind, Elide is planning to
- 28:27Speaker 1: escape Morath. She's going to escape on one of the
- 28:30Speaker 1: supply carts and she's really, really wants to escape. And
- 28:33Speaker 1: so Astrid comes down, she's talking to her and she goes,
- 28:38Speaker 1: we know you're a witch brah. And, and the actual
- 28:41Speaker 1: genuine shock on Elise face, as in like, what's no,
- 28:44Speaker 1: I'm not makes the witches believe, Oh, she doesn't actually
- 28:47Speaker 1: know bro. So yeah. And that's when they actually tell her. So, um,
- 28:53Speaker 1: they go up, so she leaves and she's really worried that, um,
- 28:58Speaker 1: if her uncle knows about her witch blood, he's going
- 29:01Speaker 1: to use her as the, as the valve delivery system
- 29:05Speaker 1: for the baby. I don't really know what they call it.
- 29:07Speaker 2: The vessel.
- 29:08Speaker 1: The vessel, yes. And so she goes up, for some reason,
- 29:11Speaker 1: she goes up to Manon's room and starts to steal
- 29:15Speaker 1: coins to get out of it. It's like, you dumb fuck.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Great idea. Manon comes in, she's like, doing bra.
- 29:23Speaker 2: She's like, doing. Would have picked anyone else.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Anyway, she, Manon goes to take, what was she? I
- 29:36Speaker 1: think she just like goes to take fucking A lead
- 29:39Speaker 1: to her room. She goes, let me take you to
- 29:41Speaker 1: your room. And her uncle, a lead's uncle is there
- 29:45Speaker 1: just being a menace. And so then they go into
- 29:47Speaker 1: a lead's room. Manon tells the uncle to fuck off
- 29:50Speaker 1: and she goes into the room and she goes, all right,
- 29:53Speaker 1: your blood can either run blue like a witch or
- 29:55Speaker 1: red like a human. If it's blue like a witch,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you're under my protection by law. And if it's red
- 29:59Speaker 1: like a human, I honestly don't care. And I'm probably
- 30:01Speaker 1: going to be quite entertained what they do to you.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So choose.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Savage.
- 30:05Speaker 1: She's like, choose bro. And I was like, that's actually hectic.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I like Madden. I think she's a beast. Yeah, this
- 30:11Speaker 1: is cool. And so then she, Elide really thinks about
- 30:14Speaker 1: it and she goes, okay, I choose blue. And Madden's like,
- 30:18Speaker 1: Madden's like, good choice. Great choice. Because I also think
- 30:21Speaker 1: good choice. Because obviously what's going to happen is they're
- 30:24Speaker 1: going to fix her weird ass ankle. They're going to
- 30:26Speaker 1: take her shackles off. They're going to be under her protection.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It's going to go from... You're going to be... You're
- 30:30Speaker 1: not going to be... So Madden's going to have... Instead
- 30:33Speaker 1: of a 13, she's going to have a 14. A
- 30:35Speaker 1: lead's going to be her little fucking disciple apprentice type shit.
- 30:37Speaker 1: She's going to be a mad dog. I'm keen as.
- 30:40Speaker 1: And she's a witchling still because she's only fucking 18.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Chapter 26. So Adion, he... He talks about taking the
- 30:50Speaker 1: blood oath for Selina. And in Tarasin, all these years,
- 30:55Speaker 1: every single, all the royals, whoever was in charge, whether
- 30:57Speaker 1: it be a monarch or a patriarch, each one of
- 31:00Speaker 1: them has only taken one blood oath from a commander.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And so that was like, they just were, you know,
- 31:06Speaker 1: fucking blood oath type shit. Whereas Queen Maeve has like
- 31:09Speaker 1: six blood oaths from all the Cater. And so he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I'm going to fucking do that blood oath. And they
- 31:15Speaker 1: talk about it. And Selina's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
- 31:17Speaker 1: can do it. You can do it. Little does he
- 31:19Speaker 1: know that Rowan's already taken the blood oath. And she
- 31:21Speaker 1: kind of is like, I can't tell him right now.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I just can't tell him yet. I can't do it.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Seems like a bit of a cock off for the man, eh?
- 31:30Speaker 1: Oh my God, bro.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Like, I'll take a blood oath for you. I'll give
- 31:35Speaker 2: you my life.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Like, for fuck's sakes. I don't even know what, it
- 31:42Speaker 1: just is so depicting of, I guess, you know, his
- 31:45Speaker 1: whole purpose is protection. Yeah. Be a man. Protection. Oh,
- 31:51Speaker 1: my sword. I live and die by my sword for you.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I live for you. Fuck's sakes, bro. It annoys me too.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And he's like, just got better. And he's like, I'll
- 31:59Speaker 2: take a blood oath.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I'll take a blood oath for you, man. Honestly, it
- 32:03Speaker 1: is just so, so silly.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 32:06Speaker 1: And then in this same chapter, sorry. So the vow,
- 32:10Speaker 1: Cale comes into the apartment all like pissy after they're like,
- 32:13Speaker 1: after him and Adion are talking. And, um, He says
- 32:17Speaker 1: the Vow commanders, they killed all the fucking, everyone. They
- 32:22Speaker 1: just burnt the whole shadow market. They've put it up
- 32:24Speaker 1: in flames, trapped them in and just burnt the whole thing.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And so Selander's like, oh, and I bet you fucking
- 32:31Speaker 1: probably that's my fault too, isn't it? And he's kind
- 32:34Speaker 1: of like, well, of all the ways he could have
- 32:35Speaker 1: done it, the king chose flames. So he was probably
- 32:37Speaker 1: sending a message. And Adian was like, bro, watch your
- 32:40Speaker 1: fucking mouth, bro. That's my queen. All right. And I'll
- 32:46Speaker 1: actually fuck you up if you keep talking shit. Kale's
- 32:49Speaker 1: pissing me off anyway. Want to see my blood over me? Yeah, true.
- 32:52Speaker 1: He's like, hey, I'll fucking spill blood right here all
- 32:55Speaker 1: over you, you fucking loser. So Selene is like, shit.
- 33:01Speaker 1: And she goes out and she tracks one of the
- 33:03Speaker 1: Valg troops, groups or whatever. And then the commander breaks
- 33:07Speaker 1: off to go a different way. So she tracks that
- 33:09Speaker 1: commander and they go into a sewer and she's like
- 33:12Speaker 1: sneaking up, sneaking up, sneaking up. And this commander- goes
- 33:15Speaker 1: real deep in this sewer to this big pool and
- 33:18Speaker 1: there's this fuck off big creature like gangly um yucky
- 33:23Speaker 1: black creature looks deadly as fuck right that's just chilling
- 33:27Speaker 1: in this pool ways deep and um down in the
- 33:30Speaker 1: darkness and the and it's like you know all right
- 33:32Speaker 1: give me a fucking update to this like commander and
- 33:34Speaker 1: she goes she's wigging out she's like what the fuck
- 33:36Speaker 1: she calls it a valg hound or something i think
- 33:39Speaker 1: which is what she called it and um Sorry, we're
- 33:44Speaker 1: going into chapter 27. She calls it a word hound.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And so she said, this is so weird. It looks
- 33:51Speaker 1: exactly like one of the gargoyles on the fucking tower.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Big black tower. She's like, is one of them missing
- 33:58Speaker 1: right now? Is this just like a carnation of it? Like,
- 34:00Speaker 1: is this a thing? Anywho, she's wigging out and she goes,
- 34:04Speaker 1: why the fuck does that sound exactly like the king?
- 34:10Speaker 1: So this thing's talking to the commander and it's the
- 34:12Speaker 1: king's voice. She's like, I don't know what sorcery this
- 34:15Speaker 1: is where the king's looking through his eyes and speaking
- 34:17Speaker 1: through his mouth. Yeah. But bro, yummy, yummy, juicy, juicy
- 34:22Speaker 1: stuff here. Scary though. She's shivering. She's like, this is fucked.
- 34:26Speaker 2: The king is honestly like a genius, eh?
- 34:28Speaker 1: So I'm still not sure if the king is a
- 34:34Speaker 1: good guy that was taken over. So I'm not sure
- 34:36Speaker 1: if the king was a good guy. And at 20
- 34:38Speaker 1: years old, He found the word keys and was like, oh, power, power, power, cool.
- 34:43Speaker 1: But then he got possessed and he isn't making any
- 34:45Speaker 1: of these choices. Or if he is the bad guy
- 34:49Speaker 1: and he's letting the Valg do all this.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I think it will be the first, but I want
- 34:54Speaker 2: it to be the second.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I want him to be just an outright bad guy.
- 34:57Speaker 1: So I agree. But for the reason I think it's
- 34:59Speaker 1: the first one is because he was a prince at
- 35:01Speaker 1: the time, born to be a king. And it's like,
- 35:05Speaker 1: think about what's happening to his city. Yeah. I can
- 35:09Speaker 1: understand wanting territory, but what are you doing to your people?
- 35:14Speaker 2: Because he hates Dorian. Is there any sort of inkling
- 35:19Speaker 2: that there's been something inside him that's looked after Dorian ever?
- 35:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Not that I can think of. Yeah, neither.
- 35:27Speaker 2: That'd be a tiny way to show that someone good's inside, maybe.
- 35:31Speaker 1: And we know that the king and his queen, they
- 35:33Speaker 1: don't sleep in the same room. They stay on different
- 35:35Speaker 1: sides of the castle and they basically just did it
- 35:37Speaker 1: to have kids. yeah so look i don't know bro
- 35:41Speaker 1: but craziness anyway um adian then is she goes back
- 35:49Speaker 1: to the house and she was took four hours and
- 35:51Speaker 1: he's like bro what the hell you said you'd be
- 35:52Speaker 1: two now you were four how do you think i
- 35:54Speaker 1: feel and she's like trust me i know how you
- 35:56Speaker 1: feel because of that night sam died anyway um she
- 35:59Speaker 1: got he's like i need to get the fuck out
- 36:01Speaker 1: of this apartment by the way so she goes fine
- 36:03Speaker 1: let's go out they go and then they're about to
- 36:06Speaker 1: leave to go for a walk on the street And
- 36:08Speaker 1: Nezrin pops up and she's like, yeah, Nezrin, come hang
- 36:11Speaker 1: out with us. I was like, okay, weird. She just
- 36:12Speaker 1: randomly wants to be friends with Nezrin now. They go
- 36:14Speaker 1: to a fucking pub, some yucky ass pub and go
- 36:16Speaker 1: play cards at the back and shit like that. Anyway,
- 36:19Speaker 1: they're walking home. It's like, what is it? I think
- 36:21Speaker 1: it's like 2 a.m. And they're walking the back streets
- 36:25Speaker 1: of the slums. And Adian has a better like sense
- 36:28Speaker 1: of hearing and smell than the other two. So he
- 36:29Speaker 1: can hear someone's walking very softly, right? Not to go
- 36:33Speaker 1: to lie, didn't expect this for a while. Didn't expect
- 36:37Speaker 1: this to happen for a long time.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I didn't expect it for ages.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I didn't expect it for a long time anyway. So
- 36:44Speaker 1: he stops Nezrin and Selina and is like, just wait.
- 36:49Speaker 1: He gets into a bit of a battle stance and
- 36:51Speaker 1: there's somewhat at the end of the slums now. And
- 36:52Speaker 1: they're like, what the fuck? Turns out they run into Rowan. Yeah.
- 36:58Speaker 1: I'm like, what?
- 37:01Speaker 2: That's what I was talking about at the start. I
- 37:02Speaker 2: was like, wow, I didn't think this was going to happen.
- 37:05Speaker 2: So I thought he was like going to come in
- 37:06Speaker 2: and be like a beast and save him, not just
- 37:08Speaker 2: be like in the story.
- 37:10Speaker 1: He's just like part of the story. I'm kind of
- 37:11Speaker 1: happy about it, to be fair. I like it. It adds. Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 1: it definitely adds to it. Okay, so Selene goes up,
- 37:17Speaker 1: runs into him, hugs him. And one thing we actually
- 37:20Speaker 1: forgot to talk about was in some of the conversations
- 37:22Speaker 1: her and Adian are having, she talks about Rowan as
- 37:25Speaker 1: if like he's a pain in her ass, right? That's
- 37:29Speaker 1: how Aelin talks about Rowan. She's like, yeah, fuck, he
- 37:31Speaker 1: taught me all this shit, but God, he's annoying, bro. God,
- 37:33Speaker 1: he's annoying. And Aedan's like, you know who Rowan is, right?
- 37:41Speaker 1: This is before they meet. He's like, you know who
- 37:43Speaker 1: Rowan is, right? She goes, well, yeah, the prince, you know,
- 37:48Speaker 1: Prince Rowan. And he goes, Rowan's the most skilled fae
- 37:54Speaker 1: warrior that has ever existed, right? Or something like that, right?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 1: And so, Slane is kind of like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Also,
- 38:03Speaker 1: pain in my ass, by the way, bro. He's like, yeah, no. Like,
- 38:07Speaker 1: people used to tell stories about him just when I
- 38:11Speaker 1: was a kid around the fire, you know, type shit. Cool. So,
- 38:16Speaker 1: and I was like, fuck, you know, like, that's crazy.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And so, now I'm kind of like, obviously, Rowan's a beast.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Rowan's a beast. Does that mean, like, Warrior.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Does that mean better than.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Rhys and shit? I think I would probably say more
- 38:31Speaker 1: on Cassian's scale because Rhys is... He's a high lord, right?
- 38:37Speaker 1: He's probably more like the Queen Maeve. Yeah. If you
- 38:40Speaker 1: really think about it.
- 38:41Speaker 2: So he's fucking... I've got to picture him on the
- 38:44Speaker 2: same pedestal as Cassian now. That's crazy.
- 38:46Speaker 1: So I think Rowan's more of the same as Cassian
- 38:49Speaker 1: and Asriel type of thing in terms of actual just
- 38:53Speaker 1: fighting skill. But I think... With the benefit of him
- 38:56Speaker 1: being able to shift into a hawk, and he also
- 38:58Speaker 1: has the power of wind, I think he'd get the
- 39:01Speaker 1: upper hand on them because he is Fae. Whereas Cassian
- 39:05Speaker 1: and Asriel, they're Illyrian warriors. They're not Fae, they're Illyrian.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But also, Cassian's the best fighter in all of Prithian.
- 39:14Speaker 1: But I think Rhys would fuck up. I agree. If
- 39:18Speaker 1: he's using his magic, I think Rhys would fuck up Rowan.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not a warrior category.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Like, I think he'd probably beat Rhys in a hand-to-hand combat,
- 39:26Speaker 1: but if Rhys is allowed to just be like, nah,
- 39:27Speaker 1: fuck yeah, he'd just crush him. Yeah, exactly. now that
- 39:31Speaker 1: we're back so sorry on chapter 28 again back with
- 39:33Speaker 1: meeting rowan so adian and rowan are just doing this
- 39:38Speaker 1: fey thing of like staring each other down and slain
- 39:40Speaker 1: is like okay for fuck's sake let's just go back
- 39:41Speaker 1: to the apartment nezrin goes home they go back to
- 39:44Speaker 1: the apartment and um Rowan stinks because he stowed away
- 39:50Speaker 1: on a ship, right? And he, he came for a reason.
- 39:53Speaker 1: He goes, I have my reasons for being here, but
- 39:54Speaker 1: he doesn't say them yet. And so he stows away
- 39:56Speaker 1: on a ship and then comes, he's super stinky. So
- 40:00Speaker 1: Selena's like, come home. You have to have a bath.
- 40:01Speaker 1: You smell really bad. Radio, blah, blah, blah. Cool, cool, cool.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Now we go out and they have a proper introduction
- 40:08Speaker 1: to Adian. And so she's like, Rowan, Adian, Adian, Rowan,
- 40:13Speaker 1: meet Rowan. Best friends. They're doing this stare down. They're
- 40:16Speaker 1: also like, Rowan's like, Adian's kind of like, this guy's huge.
- 40:21Speaker 1: This guy's huge. He's like my height, maybe a bit
- 40:23Speaker 1: bigger type shit because Adian's huge. And so they're like
- 40:27Speaker 1: staring each other down, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Cool, cool, cool.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And then they're kind of having this like big cock
- 40:32Speaker 1: off and Slane is like, for fuck's sakes, you guys
- 40:34Speaker 1: are so lame. And then Rowan goes, who's, who sired you?
- 40:40Speaker 1: As in, who's your father? And Adian's like, what? Because
- 40:44Speaker 1: he sniffs Aideon. He's like, who sired you? And he goes,
- 40:47Speaker 1: I don't know. He goes, yeah, so you know your mum,
- 40:49Speaker 1: but who is your father? And he goes, I was
- 40:52Speaker 1: never told. And then Selene goes, do you know him?
- 40:57Speaker 1: And Rowan's like, yeah, you've met him. She goes, what?
- 41:00Speaker 1: He goes, you've met him. It's Gavriel.
- 41:03Speaker 2: So do we remember the mountain lion shifter?
- 41:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Gavriel is fucking Aideon's dad, bro.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Pretty cool way. I was like, what?
- 41:13Speaker 1: And Selene is like, oh, is that why when I
- 41:16Speaker 1: met him, he asked me my age because I look
- 41:20Speaker 1: exactly like Adion and like exactly like, because Selene's mum
- 41:25Speaker 1: and Adion's mum were sisters. It's like, that's exactly what
- 41:28Speaker 1: she would have looked like if Gavriel had had a daughter.
- 41:31Speaker 1: And then when she, when he learned the age, so
- 41:33Speaker 1: he said, how old are you? She said, whatever age.
- 41:35Speaker 1: And he goes, okay, cool, cool, cool. And then Rowan's like, yeah, yeah,
- 41:38Speaker 1: you just wouldn't have been old enough. But Adion, he's
- 41:41Speaker 1: fucking old enough. And then, And then he confirms it.
- 41:44Speaker 1: He's like, no, bro, I can smell Gavriel all over you.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Which is straight up.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I read, I kind of think it's hectic, but I
- 41:53Speaker 1: was like, that's sick. Yeah, I reckon that's cool too.
- 41:56Speaker 1: And so obviously the Kada that answered to Rowan, or
- 42:00Speaker 1: did they answer to Rowan? Yeah, it was his Kada.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I have a feeling like Gavriel was the only one
- 42:05Speaker 1: that stopped and actually tried to help Selene when she
- 42:07Speaker 1: was fighting those Valk princes of all the Kada. The
- 42:10Speaker 1: other Kada just went down with Rowan because they all
- 42:12Speaker 1: have a blood oath to Maeve.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Yep, keep in mind.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Right, and then we also find out... So, yeah, we
- 42:21Speaker 1: also find out that... Oh, no, not find out. Adion
- 42:26Speaker 1: finds out that Rowan's already given the blood oath. And
- 42:29Speaker 1: then him and Slanna have a huge fight. Huge fight.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And she's like, Broski, get the fuck out of my house, eh?
- 42:40Speaker 1: I was like, dang. They have a huge fight. Anyway,
- 42:45Speaker 1: so chapter 29, Rowan says to Aelin, the reason I'm
- 42:50Speaker 1: here is because Lorcan is here. And so apparently now
- 42:57Speaker 1: Lorcan's the strongest female in the realm. What's with that?
- 43:01Speaker 1: Someone goes, Rowan's the strongest, now Lorcan's the strongest. But
- 43:04Speaker 1: he does go on to say, right? And so he
- 43:08Speaker 1: goes on to say, like, the reason he's here is
- 43:11Speaker 1: because he was obviously looking for you, but he doesn't
- 43:13Speaker 1: know your scent. And he probably just came here to
- 43:15Speaker 1: get me to come here to track me to you.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So he's going to find him. Right. And so then
- 43:19Speaker 1: she said, um, it is, it's in the book. It
- 43:23Speaker 1: says that Lorcan is Rowan's only equal. And so she says,
- 43:27Speaker 1: could you beat him? And he goes, well, I would
- 43:30Speaker 1: never actually want to fight him because of the devastation
- 43:33Speaker 1: it would cause. He said, if we went head to head,
- 43:37Speaker 1: he's like Lorcan, um, never, ever, ever, ever lets himself
- 43:41Speaker 1: lose at anything, whether it be with women, whether it
- 43:43Speaker 1: be in a fight, whether it be at cards, like gambling, anything,
- 43:47Speaker 1: he never lets himself lose. But he said, if we
- 43:49Speaker 1: just went hand-to-hand combat, because both of our magics are
- 43:53Speaker 1: stifled right now, it would just be whoever wants it more.
- 43:57Speaker 1: And he goes, and I can tell you right now,
- 43:59Speaker 1: if we went hand-to-hand combat, he wouldn't walk out alive.
- 44:02Speaker 1: And I was like, that was fucking cold, Rowan. That
- 44:06Speaker 1: was cold as fuck. So what's up with everyone? Like
- 44:09Speaker 1: I've made a video on Instagram saying like, Rowan, strongest female, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And then everyone's like, what about Lorcan? What about Lorcan?
- 44:15Speaker 1: I'm like, first of all, who the fuck is Lorcan?
- 44:17Speaker 1: Hadn't met him yet. Also, who is Lorcan? Do we know?
- 44:21Speaker 2: No, it doesn't mean anything about him.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I could have swore. Is Lorcan like part of the Cater?
- 44:26Speaker 1: I think he's part of the Cater. We might've had
- 44:28Speaker 1: a reference to him in- Lorcan.
- 44:30Speaker 2: I feel like I read it and remembered that name, but- Same.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Also, in this book, Odi, in the Queen of Shadows,
- 44:38Speaker 1: in these chapters, actually, ready? I'll just quickly finish. So,
- 44:41Speaker 1: Selene and Aelin, Aedion make up, right? Yeah. And then
- 44:45Speaker 1: she goes, we can have more than one blood oath,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you know? And he's like, oh, it's always been one.
- 44:48Speaker 1: It's always been one, blah, blah, blah. And then she's like, well,
- 44:51Speaker 1: new traditions, new things, you know, we can fucking do
- 44:54Speaker 1: what we want. And he's like, all right, cool. Well,
- 44:55Speaker 1: I'll do it, but only once you're crowned queen. Chapter 30.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Dorian has allowed the demon complete control of him since
- 45:04Speaker 1: Selene failed to kill him. He's like, fuck this. Who cares?
- 45:07Speaker 1: All right. What I want to talk about, first of all, cool, cool, cool.
- 45:11Speaker 1: I like all the bomb drops. First of all, have
- 45:15Speaker 1: we ever fucking had reference to Lorcan?
- 45:17Speaker 2: There has to have been, but I don't recall any
- 45:20Speaker 2: of it.
- 45:20Speaker 1: I don't recall it either. And I'm usually really good
- 45:23Speaker 1: with that shit.
- 45:23Speaker 2: You are really good.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Also, Oddy, another thing. Dude. Do you ever remember this
- 45:29Speaker 1: dinner they're talking about that where like Queen Maeve, like
- 45:33Speaker 1: I seem to remember Queen Maeve visiting that place that
- 45:36Speaker 1: Selina was staying at in Air of Fire, right? You know,
- 45:39Speaker 1: where she was staying and training. I seem to remember
- 45:42Speaker 1: Queen Maeve visiting there for a dinner. But what I
- 45:45Speaker 1: don't remember is the referencing. So apparently at this dinner,
- 45:49Speaker 1: there was a fucking ex-lover of Rowan's there that was
- 45:53Speaker 1: like taunting Selina. I can't remember that.
- 45:57Speaker 2: I remember the dinner they're talking about. The next level
- 45:59Speaker 2: is taunting Selena.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I also barely remember this dinner. I had to fucking
- 46:04Speaker 1: really think about it. The only thing I can think
- 46:07Speaker 1: of is, to be fair, I read Heir of Fire
- 46:09Speaker 1: within literally a week and a half, two weeks. I
- 46:13Speaker 1: think it was there. I do remember. It was like
- 46:16Speaker 1: three pages, not even.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Vaguely. Fuck sakes. I was like, did I miss a
- 46:22Speaker 1: complete chapter of this book of Heir of Fire? Anyway,
- 46:26Speaker 1: because I like blitzed through it because I was enjoying it,
- 46:28Speaker 1: but I usually really pick up on shit anyway. That's
- 46:32Speaker 1: what I wanted to ask. I just couldn't remember if
- 46:34Speaker 1: there was reference to Lorcan.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I don't know about Lorcan.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I don't remember anything about Lorcan. Comment below. I feel
- 46:39Speaker 1: like Lorcan, I have a feeling. I don't know. I
- 46:42Speaker 1: might look it up quickly because I might just to confirm.
- 46:45Speaker 1: So I think Lorcan is the, I have a feeling
- 46:50Speaker 1: he's part of the Cater, right? But he's the only
- 46:53Speaker 1: one that doesn't actually shift into an animal. Does that
- 46:57Speaker 1: make sense? It could, but... Who is Lorcan? Throne of Glass.
- 47:04Speaker 2: Are you giving something away in a sense of like
- 47:05Speaker 2: you might find out who he is more?
- 47:08Speaker 1: True, that's a good point. I feel like I don't
- 47:10Speaker 1: want to really look up too much. But he's supposed
- 47:12Speaker 1: to be the strongest and also sexiest or some shit.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Everyone's a sexiest. Yeah, that's a good point.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Everyone's a sexiest. Part of this book that I thought
- 47:22Speaker 1: was so... I don't know. I thought it was so weird,
- 47:27Speaker 1: maybe sweet. I just don't think it's sweet. So, Rowan,
- 47:31Speaker 1: Slayna's making Rowan sleep in her bed, right? And he's
- 47:34Speaker 1: kind of like, this isn't the Fae realm, right? When
- 47:38Speaker 1: we were doing that, where we were, we did it
- 47:41Speaker 1: purely platonically, right? No one bats an eye at that
- 47:44Speaker 1: type of shit where we are in the realm of Doronel.
- 47:47Speaker 1: He's like, here, it's going to send a message, right?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Especially if I'm like taking a blood oath and I've like,
- 47:53Speaker 1: you know, committed my life to protect you type shit
- 47:55Speaker 1: and like serve you. And she's kind of like, bro, chill.
- 47:59Speaker 1: We do what we want here. He's like, seriously, I
- 48:02Speaker 1: think about this. You're a queen. He's going to bite
- 48:04Speaker 1: Selene in the bum, 100%. She's still so naive.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:07Speaker 1: And so she's like, no, no, no, no, no.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Like, it's fine.
- 48:10Speaker 1: It's fine. It's fine. And I was kind of like, look,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I think it was good of him to like say
- 48:14Speaker 1: that and warn her. And then I thought, what did
- 48:20Speaker 1: I think? Oh, and also he's kind of like, Another
- 48:24Speaker 1: reason I don't want to sleep in bed with her
- 48:25Speaker 1: is because I like have feelings for her. He like
- 48:27Speaker 1: admits thinking she's beautiful and feeling something for her and
- 48:30Speaker 1: missing her and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And dreaming
- 48:32Speaker 1: about it while they were apart, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 48:35Speaker 1: But this is the part I'm wigging out about that.
- 48:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it's sweet. I'm leaning towards this
- 48:40Speaker 1: is so sus and just so mean is he goes,
- 48:43Speaker 1: when I first met her, I didn't think she was beautiful.
- 48:47Speaker 1: I didn't realize she was beautiful. And he's like, he
- 48:50Speaker 1: doubles down and he's like, I actually took, it took
- 48:52Speaker 1: me a couple months to realize that she was pretty
- 48:54Speaker 1: at all. I was like, come on, bro. I know.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Is that like, because she was grieving Nehemia when they met,
- 49:02Speaker 2: wasn't she? And she was like in the pits kind
- 49:05Speaker 2: of and just like looking for fights.
- 49:07Speaker 1: That's a good point. And she was in that, whatever
- 49:09Speaker 1: that city was called.
- 49:10Speaker 2: It's one of those things you can keep to yourself,
- 49:12Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 49:13Speaker 1: To be fair, it was in a monologue thought, but
- 49:16Speaker 1: I also just thought I didn't want to know that.
- 49:18Speaker 1: I don't care. Yeah, true.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Funny though.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Very funny. But no, I'm very happy as well. This
- 49:24Speaker 1: book's great. Very enjoyable. Hectic book, eh? Something I've found
- 49:29Speaker 1: while reading both Crescent City and Queen of Shadows at
- 49:31Speaker 1: the same time is So once I like really start
- 49:35Speaker 1: to read Crescent City, I get into it the same amount, right?
- 49:38Speaker 1: I get into it, I get into it, I get
- 49:39Speaker 1: into it. But then when we record one of these
- 49:41Speaker 1: and I can go read more chapters of Queen of Shadows,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I think about Queen of Shadows a lot more. And
- 49:48Speaker 1: it's like I kind of yearn to read it a
- 49:50Speaker 1: lot more. Like the last two days, I could have
- 49:53Speaker 1: read Crescent City, but I didn't. Yeah. Because I had
- 49:58Speaker 1: read these chapters and we hadn't recorded yet. Well, I
- 50:01Speaker 1: don't know.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Maybe that's like, I also feel we've, because I edit
- 50:03Speaker 2: the book clubs, I quite like going through them again.
- 50:05Speaker 2: And I do feel the reliving of it and almost
- 50:07Speaker 2: like makes you experience it and think about.
- 50:10Speaker 1: It even more. Yeah.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Which is maybe what the audience is feeling as well,
- 50:14Speaker 2: which is a bit of a perk.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Or just the book is better.
- 50:20Speaker 2: I've seen more resounding consensuses that Throne of Glass is
- 50:25Speaker 2: better than Crescent.
- 50:25Speaker 1: City, I reckon. I am going to say so far, agreed. Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 1: You know what else I think? So, Throne of Glass,
- 50:33Speaker 1: I also think is better than ACOTAR. Shit. I'm not
- 50:37Speaker 1: A & A. Do you want to know? Do you
- 50:39Speaker 1: want to hear another hot take? What? I think Crescent
- 50:42Speaker 1: City is better than ACOTAR. Really? Yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Crescent City? It's just cooler.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Bro, I'm telling you, Bryce Quinlan, like, Bryce Quinlan is
- 50:54Speaker 1: the coolest main character of any book I think I've read. Like,
- 51:00Speaker 1: The only one that compares to me right now is
- 51:03Speaker 1: either Selena, or you might want to call it Aylin,
- 51:07Speaker 1: I don't know, and Darrow from fucking Red Rising. Those
- 51:10Speaker 1: are the only two that compare to me right now.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I think Bryce is the best out of the three, though.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I will say the depth of Throne of Glass is
- 51:18Speaker 2: so much more than Akatar already.
- 51:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I see why you would say that, too.
- 51:27Speaker 1: I think... Akital was an easier read, though, I reckon.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Like in a sense of just like to follow and
- 51:34Speaker 2: just like you kind of just dip in and out.
- 51:36Speaker 2: It's just exciting. It's very surface level, but it's really,
- 51:39Speaker 2: really good. Whereas this seems to be like, ooh, wah, wah.
- 51:42Speaker 2: And there's a lot of characters like that. But there's
- 51:47Speaker 2: some good takes.
- 51:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 51:48Speaker 2: So shall we finish on predictions?
- 51:51Speaker 1: Yes, we should. Right. I am predicting that... I don't
- 52:01Speaker 1: know if it will happen in this book, but I'm
- 52:03Speaker 1: predicting that Rowan's entire cater ends up serving Selina or
- 52:11Speaker 1: Queen Aelin. Yeah, Lorcan included. I don't think Lorcan's a villain.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I think Lorcan, I think he's made out to be
- 52:21Speaker 1: a villain. I have a feeling, I hope at least,
- 52:23Speaker 1: I think Lorcan will end up coming good. Even though
- 52:28Speaker 1: we haven't met him yet, I might change my mind.
- 52:30Speaker 1: I think that there's going to be a war with
- 52:35Speaker 1: Queen Maeve before there's a war with the King of Ardalan.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:40Speaker 1: I do see that as well.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I feel like the war with the King will be
- 52:45Speaker 2: more the next book or like the last book, obviously.
- 52:48Speaker 1: Last one, yeah, for sure.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:50Speaker 1: I'm so intrigued by Manon's thing and I just am
- 52:53Speaker 1: so sure Manon's going to switch sides. I'm so sure
- 52:55Speaker 1: of it.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Oh, I 100% agree with that. Also, I reckon, do
- 52:59Speaker 2: you think in this book, Doran will be able to
- 53:02Speaker 2: show that he's still in there to Selana somehow and
- 53:04Speaker 2: they'll figure out how to get him out? Yes.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like it will be this book. Yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 2: And then Kale will be like, oh my God, I've
- 53:16Speaker 2: got my boy back. And then maybe Kale will start
- 53:20Speaker 2: to like side with them again.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Oh, here's something I want to tell you. That could potentially...
- 53:26Speaker 1: confirm what you are saying is i saw a comment
- 53:30Speaker 1: you might have seen it too apparently people think that
- 53:33Speaker 1: um kale is going to redeem himself in this book.
- 53:37Speaker 2: I did see that everyone's like just you wait like
- 53:39Speaker 2: you actually might like kale again um and then arabin
- 53:47Speaker 2: like i after what you said last week about you're
- 53:49Speaker 2: hoping arabin dies and like that's the end of him
- 53:52Speaker 2: i quite like i was sitting on that i think
- 53:54Speaker 2: i like that as well Here's the.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Reason why I don't anymore, though. I've got to tell
- 53:58Speaker 1: you why. I think that he's the only one. So,
- 54:03Speaker 1: there's two ways that they fund their war, right? So, Selina. So,
- 54:07Speaker 1: let's just call Selina Terrison. Terrison versus Ardalan, right? Ardalan
- 54:11Speaker 1: has all the money already. They're funding their side. Terrison,
- 54:15Speaker 1: the only thing they can do is either take donations
- 54:18Speaker 1: or people signing up and not being paid.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Forgot about that, yeah.
- 54:21Speaker 1: And so, I think that there's two ways they pay
- 54:24Speaker 1: for it. Either... Because they constantly talk about Adolin being
- 54:29Speaker 1: as rich as the king. Sorry. They constantly talk about
- 54:33Speaker 1: Arobin being as rich as the king. They've said it
- 54:36Speaker 1: at least four times in the whole series. They always
- 54:38Speaker 1: say it. So I think that they have to sell
- 54:42Speaker 1: out and be funded by him or kill him, take
- 54:48Speaker 1: all his money. Right? And then if neither of those happen,
- 54:53Speaker 1: it's got to be because they go fuck up good
- 54:55Speaker 1: old Maevee and take all her.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Shit ah shit i missed that a bit the first
- 55:03Speaker 2: one like teaming up with arabin because arabin's like a
- 55:05Speaker 2: plotter and schemer he knows when people like want him
- 55:08Speaker 2: dead like he's going to come in and be like
- 55:10Speaker 2: guys you need my money i'm happy to help like
- 55:13Speaker 2: in return like i want.
- 55:14Speaker 1: He mentions that he mentions that he literally mentions that
- 55:18Speaker 1: so yeah he actually does mention something a about you
- 55:22Speaker 1: know what i can provide or some shit shit and
- 55:26Speaker 1: he doesn't like the king because he's like the king's
- 55:28Speaker 1: fucking up my city man legit all my business all
- 55:32Speaker 1: right we'll leave it at that chapters we're doing 10
- 55:34Speaker 1: more let's do 10 more and then we'll decide from
- 55:37Speaker 1: there if we're going to do 20 more we might
- 55:39Speaker 1: want to do 20 after that but let's try and
- 55:40Speaker 1: do 10 more so we can get properly.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Ahead so we'll go to chapter 40 next and there's
- 55:45Speaker 2: 85 or no there's.
- 55:46Speaker 1: 89 chapters holy shit So we'll be there halfway. There's
- 55:51Speaker 1: got to be a few little tiny ones of like
- 55:53Speaker 1: two pages in there. Yeah.
- 55:55Speaker 2: There was a few short chapters in this one, actually.
- 55:56Speaker 1: It was like two short ones. That's a good point.
- 55:58Speaker 2: So we'll see you next week. Baddies, 10 chapters. And Patreon,
- 56:01Speaker 2: of course, we always forget to plug it.
- 56:04Speaker 1: $ 8. 99.
- 56:04Speaker 2: You now 100% get the episode five days early as well.
- 56:07Speaker 2: If you're on YouTube, there's a hype button on YouTube now.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Be sure to click it on the book club especially
- 56:12Speaker 2: and subscribe if you're new around here because we're going
- 56:14Speaker 2: for how many subscribers, Jake?
- 56:15Speaker 1: 50,000, no time frame.
- 56:20Speaker 2: 50,000 subscribers. Honestly, we haven't really had a goal for
- 56:24Speaker 2: the podcast in a long time. We do have goals
- 56:26Speaker 2: outside of, I don't know, listeners, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 56:30Speaker 1: But 100,000 subscriber plaque? That'd be hectic. That's a cool goal.
- 56:33Speaker 1: That's a cool goal.
- 56:34Speaker 2: And imagine a lot of it was initiated from our
- 56:37Speaker 2: book club does the best on YouTube. Our podcast, the
- 56:40Speaker 2: main episodes do better. But it was book club.
- 56:42Speaker 1: We go, fuck.
- 56:43Speaker 2: They started the... They started the movement to get 100,000 subscribers.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Literally, that'd be fucking sick.
- 56:49Speaker 2: That's so cool.
- 56:50Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, what else do you even read?
- 56:53Speaker 1: Like Sarah J Maas has so much hype. My biggest
- 56:55Speaker 1: worry is when we're done all of this, right? Reread!
- 56:58Speaker 1: We just do rereads and read it.
- 57:02Speaker 2: No, but before Akatar comes out, sorry, the sixth book,
- 57:05Speaker 2: Splintered Harmony, I would like to do like a sort of,
- 57:08Speaker 2: I don't know how to do it. Comment below, Baddies,
- 57:10Speaker 2: because obviously we can't read the whole fucking series again. No.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Right before it comes out.
- 57:14Speaker 2: A recap sort of episode, but I don't know how
- 57:16Speaker 2: to like properly, um, get all the gist again. And
- 57:21Speaker 2: I'm thinking about doing something with Luke Bateman, our best friend.
- 57:24Speaker 2: He said yes already. So he's currently reading it.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:27Speaker 2: He's going to be finished him. So his memory will be, um,
- 57:29Speaker 2: refreshed or like fresh. Um, but comment below the best
- 57:33Speaker 2: way to do that. Maybe there's a good website that
- 57:35Speaker 2: has like great sort of like, um, book summaries or something.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Yeah. To be fair, like I could probably give a
- 57:41Speaker 1: 30 minute rundown of everything. Very loose.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I remember Akita Akuri, but I want it more like...
- 57:47Speaker 2: You know when you go to watch The Hobbit, but
- 57:49Speaker 2: you go watch Lord of the Rings before because you
- 57:51Speaker 2: just want the fucking juicy nitty gritty of it, right?
- 57:54Speaker 2: And you're fresh in your mind, but you know what happens.
- 57:56Speaker 1: It's like that. Okay, now I hear you. All right, baddies,
- 57:59Speaker 1: we love you. Stay bad.
