- 0:01You could bet your ass that we're back with another episode or the ground to
- 0:05show it is the boys here once again. What episode is this sixty seventy,
- 0:13sixty eight or sixty seven. I'm not so sure. Only time will
- 0:18tell ye. That's some favorite thing about time, the way it tells yo.
- 0:25Man. We're gonna jump into this news real quick. It's not really
- 0:28anything too crazy, but it's definitely something that we can give some good quick
- 0:33thoughts on. We're gonna start off hot. Jesse Smilette enters rehab after extremely
- 0:40difficult past few years. As y'all know, Jesse Smollett was the guy that
- 0:46you know, uh, he proclaimed a hate crime and they ended up deciding
- 0:52that he was lying and he set it up himself. There was a situation,
- 0:57Yeah, there was a situation where Chicago wanted him to pay back all
- 1:00the may hours and police, you know, work that he made everybody go
- 1:04through for no reason basically, and it's saying now he is, uh in
- 1:11rehab. What do y'all think about this? Where is he from power?
- 1:18Right? No? No, No, that was I believe empire, Empire.
- 1:23I like him longer, I don't can't have too much about him outside
- 1:26of that. It's a legend. Yeah, I don't know anything about him.
- 1:34I never watched anything that he was in, but definitely I could see
- 1:38how, you know, going through that is rough to bounce back from.
- 1:41Man, if he's going to rehab. I don't know if the problem started
- 1:45before that was going on or after, but definitely something you need help for.
- 1:49So hopefully buddy he gets right, right. I know, he had
- 1:53just some time right like six months or something like that in jail, Yeah,
- 1:57I believe. So, you know that they ended up finding him guilty
- 2:02of a felony disorderly conduct from lying to the police, sentenced one hundred and
- 2:07fifty days and thirty months probation. So yeah, it was. It was
- 2:12a pretty big deal when it happened. I remember it was, I believe.
- 2:15Yeah, it was twenty nineteen. You know, it was pretty much
- 2:20at the height of a lot of the race things that were going on in
- 2:23the United States, as far as rioting and as far as the highlighting of
- 2:28the injustices going on. So it was definitely not the time to be playing
- 2:34around with something like that. Yeah, that's sure. I remember when I
- 2:38went down and the court case. Yeah, man, I mean I think
- 2:44from go ahead. I was gonna say, I think from a rehab standpoint,
- 2:46like when something like that happens, you know, I guess I could
- 2:53say I salute him from trying to figure that part out of it, because
- 2:57who knows what, you know, life fast kind of brought him to as
- 3:00far as you know, sobriety and trying to escape, you know, because
- 3:06he was up, you know, at that time Empire was was big,
- 3:08you know, or at least coming down from being huge. His his career
- 3:12was about to take off, you know, at least in my thing.
- 3:14And I feel like a lot of people in that show had opportunities after that,
- 3:17you know. So he definitely ruined a good situation for something very very
- 3:23unnecessary, and you know, for some time, it's a lot. Yeah.
- 3:30Yeah, hopefully he get the help he need because, you know,
- 3:34just judging up what we can see, definitely needs it. But yeah,
- 3:38man, something uh that's been in the news lately, and I have like
- 3:42a like a funny spin on what I want to talk about with this,
- 3:46but I don't know if y'all heard, but dj MVI's real estate business partners
- 3:51arrested fraud chargers. So the word had been going going around that he had
- 3:55some kind of Ponzi scheme set up with some properties and flipping how and things
- 4:00like that. They had went to the Breakfast club to actually question or you
- 4:06know, ask DJMVY some questions about the whole situation and everything. According to
- 4:13what's being reported, they say that DJMV didn't really have nothing to do with
- 4:17it as far as like actually taking money from people and doing stuff like that.
- 4:21But obviously, my thing about it, Like, the thing that I
- 4:26find interesting about this is you're on the radio talking about this every single day.
- 4:31What you're doing. You got these seminars, you got all this stuff
- 4:34going on. Now they're coming to your job to you know what I'm saying,
- 4:40because you were talking about it on the radio, So now they're coming
- 4:42to the radio to ask you about this, you know what I mean.
- 4:46Supposedly people were like speculating there might be some violations for iHeartRadio just because of
- 4:53SCC violations because of how the business was conducted. And that's the part to
- 4:59me that's kind of crazy. It's like, man, you really put your
- 5:01neck out there to talk about this on the radio every single day. When
- 5:05you really think about it, it's kind of crazy that they let him even
- 5:09do that, because when have you ever heard of somebody just openly promoting their
- 5:13business every day like that, like just you know, just without any kind
- 5:18of like hiding it, no veil, nothing, just every day, free
- 5:23promo, free promo, free promo, and so much. You know,
- 5:27I could see the side of the people where it's like, man, you
- 5:30guys are talking about this on the radio every single day. I'm assuming it's
- 5:33legit, you know, and now you know, some dude that's taking my
- 5:38money and running off. And then from what I saw earlier, the fans
- 5:45actually rated the iHeart Radio office and seized like electronic devices. That's crazy.
- 5:50I didn't see that. That's wild. Yeah, I mean I didn't look
- 5:55too deep into it to verify sources, but I remember it being like I
- 6:00saw multiple times on social media while scrolling. Yeah, he was wilding on
- 6:04it. What you think would I never looked into it, but I'm not
- 6:13surprised the kind of person he is, even just that idea of like,
- 6:15you know, selling that dream every day, and you know what I mean,
- 6:19like I always look at it like this. Everybody makes your own decision.
- 6:24Obviously, they're salesmen in this world. But as a person, you
- 6:28know that everybody don't have the same kind of drive and aspirations that you do.
- 6:32I mean exactly for you to try to like impart all this on people
- 6:38without really like you know, letting them know like what's really behind it,
- 6:42because it ain't just as simple as put the money down and you're just gonna
- 6:46make money. Like anybody that thinks that anything in this world is like that,
- 6:50Like come on, bro, you need to slap yourself look in the
- 6:54mirror or something, because in a way, you're just gonna put some money
- 6:58down on something and then it's just gonna double or it's going to create residual
- 7:00income, you know. Like I was talking about this with a homie the
- 7:03other day, Like it's hard to invest with friends a lot of times because
- 7:06like they want to put down fifteen hundred and get back a million dollars,
- 7:10you know what I'm saying with little work. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:13It's like everybody has this idea that like, you know, they see these
- 7:16headlines and articles of like oh I took two hundred dollars and turned it into
- 7:21ten thousand dollars a passive income every month, Like yeah, bro, that's
- 7:27that's not happening for everybody. You know what I'm saying, These are like
- 7:30this is lightning in a bottle that that just is getting captured here and there,
- 7:33Like you just got to you know, work hard, be consistent.
- 7:36If you don't do that, you don't got no hope. Yeah, it's
- 7:41hard for me to trust anybody who's going to sell me something. Man,
- 7:44It just it really is. I just you don't buy it. No cun
- 7:47intent facts that salesman vibe. Man, it's always iffy bro like no offensive
- 7:53people that are salesmen. But it's like to a certain point, you're just
- 7:56like dedicated to make that sale. Like do you take out of the human
- 8:00element out of it? I feel like you can't take the human out of
- 8:03human element out of business, you know what I'm saying. It's like they
- 8:07think that makes good business. And the other thing too, is that like
- 8:11you know, even going to that lightning in a bottle situation, you know
- 8:15a lot of people will then go to sell like how it worked for them,
- 8:20When it's like, you know what I mean, it works for you,
- 8:24I don't mean it's gonna work for me, you know what I mean?
- 8:26So then now they're using, like I said, that sales aspect to
- 8:30not only did they already make bread and flaunting how they make bread, but
- 8:33trying to use their success to take your bread, you know. Like I
- 8:37don't know. I feel like if you if you've made so much success,
- 8:39bro, Like you know what I'm saying, Like write a book, you
- 8:43know what I mean, Like or put it out in a way where it's
- 8:45like, if you want to spend the fourteen dollars, they'll spend the fourteen
- 8:48dollars. But you know some people out here charging fifteen hundred dollars for you
- 8:52know, their their little step by step playing to success. Like nah,
- 8:56bro, that's not how it works. Yeah. Yeah, it's like to
- 9:00help people. My bad. I just say it, like you're really really
- 9:01trying to help people. Why is it always such a big price you're charging.
- 9:05I g. If you're really out there just to help people, Yeah,
- 9:09It's like my thing with business or just dealing with anybody like that is
- 9:13like I don't like people that pretend like we all don't need money, you
- 9:16know what I'm saying. It's like I understand that to a certain point,
- 9:20everything's going to be transactional let's just be upfront about it and figure out what's
- 9:24going to make the most sense for everybody and keep it moving, you know
- 9:26what I mean. They don't need to be no smoking mirrors. You don't
- 9:30need a massage, you know, massage into into submission, you know what
- 9:35I'm saying. It's like, bro, just be straight up and down.
- 9:37I don't need the freaking you know, I don't need the George Michael Bluth
- 9:45not facts. But yeah, man, I don't know if we've talked about
- 9:48this yet. Man, but they actually made an arrest on the Tupac murder
- 9:52and they're setting up like another the trial dates. No, no, not
- 9:58another one, just the same one. But they're just really like gearing up
- 10:01to really get a verdict for this thing. Like that's it's just so crazy.
- 10:07Like you, I think about like being like younger, like just being
- 10:11a kid and thinking like watching like these little documentaries and stuff like that,
- 10:15always watching the little news, you know, the little news specials about the
- 10:20Tupac situation, and always hearing about like will we ever get justice? Like
- 10:24them not you believe it though that it was them. I mean I could
- 10:30see it definitely makes sense. The story kind of lines up, and you
- 10:35know, even to just think about it from a deeper sense, bro Like,
- 10:39sometimes especially with like somebody like Tupac, because of the impact that he
- 10:43had on people, on the type of artistry that he left people with,
- 10:48it's kind of hard to accept that he was just a guy. You know
- 10:50what I'm saying, He just you know, from from my way of looking
- 10:54at it, just from even just from knowing how things go, bro Like,
- 11:00sometimes you just you do something to somebody, was the wrong person,
- 11:05you know what I'm saying. If somebody don't give a fuck more than you
- 11:09don't give a fuck, like you're done, And that's just it's to me,
- 11:13it's that simple, you know, Like I don't think it was like
- 11:16anything deep or anything less deep, like even like these whole like crazy theories
- 11:20that's out there, like who was involved, Like was people from Bad Boy
- 11:24involved? Was Diddy involved? It's like, bruh. When you think about
- 11:26what the situation was when it was going on, if they came out and
- 11:30say, Yo, this is what happened, I wouldn't be surprised because it's
- 11:33like that was the situation they were going through, you know, like you
- 11:35think about it from the point of view of like Biggie and Tupac and look
- 11:37at them on artists levels. But it's like these were just people through the
- 11:41lens of whoever felt like they wanted them gone, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:45Obviously I'm not justifying it at all. It's still the tragedy, but
- 11:48it's just it is what it is. You know, people, if somebody
- 11:52wants somebody gone, they're not looking at them like, yo, that's Tupac.
- 11:54It's just a dude that wronged them in their eyes. You know.
- 11:56Yeah, that was gonna be like my next question kind of what's your thoughts
- 12:01on like the government being involved and you know, those kind of conspiracy theories
- 12:07that are out there. I'm always very in agreement of the idea that the
- 12:15government is involved, but not in that exact sense. I look at it
- 12:18more like the cops, the FBI, like just anybody that's involved in government
- 12:26and officiating and stuff like that. Whenever these situations happen, these are people
- 12:30that are very outspoken against the government, against the police, Like Tupac was
- 12:33very vocal about his disapproval of the government, of the beliefs of how the
- 12:39political structure was, Like I feel like they just all kind of give you
- 12:43the cold shoulder on the low, you know what I mean. It's not
- 12:46necessarily like a conspiracy where they're like actively saying, Yo, we're gonna do
- 12:50X, Y and Z, but it's kind of like, all right,
- 12:52whenever you need us, we're just gonna drag our fee because this is how
- 12:56you feel about us, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah,
- 12:58I could see that. Actually I get that. What do you do,
- 13:03Joe? I never heard anything about the government, but I always I grew
- 13:07up like listening to mcabelly in the first tracks, like saying, shook shot
- 13:11me. I always thought it was shook for a while. That's pretty much
- 13:15I really thought intill until in the recent years when all this other stuff,
- 13:18all these random documentary started coming out. I thought it was should because he
- 13:22had so much music of Park, He's just gonna release all those albums after
- 13:24he died. That's that's only stuff I heard, And I don't know.
- 13:31I gotta believed that for a while, honest, because I was young.
- 13:33Bro. I've seen on three different occasions fifty cents specifically say that did he
- 13:37killed Tupac? Bro? Like he said it out loud. He wrote it
- 13:43on Instagram, then he posted it again on Instagram, wrote it on Instagram
- 13:46again. It's like, Bro, that is that to me is kind of
- 13:50like the wild twist of this whole thing, Like, bro, why is
- 13:54he going so hard when saying this? You know? So I highly recommend
- 14:00this show. It's called Unsolved. It's on Netflix right now. It's only
- 14:03your season. It came out in twenty seventeen. They tapped into Russell Pool.
- 14:09Russell Poole was an LAPD detective. He investigated the murder, the murder
- 14:13of Biggie, and so while Tupac's may have been uh, you know,
- 14:22just unfortunate situation situation, Biggie's death was a little bit more sketchy. So
- 14:31I highly recommend y'all watch that show because they definitely tapped into it. Because
- 14:35once he's watched the show, then you'll actually go and start going down a
- 14:39rab hole of actually figuring out who Jordan I'm sorry, not Jordan Pool.
- 14:41I'm tripping Russell Pool. Russell Pool is because there's a lot of videos on
- 14:50YouTube about Russell Pool and the things that he was finding out through the LAPD
- 14:54about Biggie's death, and he spoke a lot and then he ended up it
- 15:00ended up getting so bad. I think he died literally while discussing like the
- 15:07cases, he had like a heart attack in in the Sheriff's department office,
- 15:16like still trying to prove his theory of what happened to Biggie. He went
- 15:20out like you know what I'm saying, trying to solve that case, Yeah,
- 15:24yeah, yeah, yeah, I know where specifically with Biggie, I
- 15:28know that that's like more cloudy, Like I remember all the little like like
- 15:31you're talking about I have. I don't think I've seen the specific one that
- 15:35you're talking about, Quincy, but I've seen a lot of different things about
- 15:37Biggie too, and it's like there's it's the same thing, like their theories,
- 15:41but that one's a little more like they really don't know who it is
- 15:43type stuff, you know. Yeah, yeah, that one's a little sketchy.
- 15:46And then if you think about it from a standpoint of Tupac being because
- 15:50if I remember correctly, TUPACX was first, right Tupac, then Biggie,
- 15:52Yeah, Tupacs being in you know, actual unfortunate situation, and then Biggie's
- 15:58being kind kind of coordinated. I guess you could say, you know,
- 16:03in that East coast, West coast like all of that. You know what
- 16:06I'm saying, It definitely trickles down into the black community, you know what
- 16:11I mean from a standpoint of like whatever divides us, you know. Yeah,
- 16:15that was a crazy That was a crazy thing, man, because at
- 16:19the end of the day, it was just music. Like it's so crazy,
- 16:22like, bro, We're just hearing dope music from a whole bunch of
- 16:26artists. Like you can't just listen to music like it's it's wild man,
- 16:30don't make no sense. Yeah, man, So last week we were talking
- 16:37about that Drake album, I did you give it a whirl? I gave
- 16:41it a world man made it to like probably like song eight or so.
- 16:47It was, Uh, it was kind of like how I hear any other
- 16:51Drake I was. I was very surprised with the lack of enthusiasm from usual
- 16:59Drake fans, you know what I'm saying, Like overall, like just from
- 17:02people that I know, they weren't really feeling it that much. And I
- 17:06felt like it sounded like the other stuff that I've heard from him, you
- 17:08know what I mean. It didn't sound bad, like it sounded like Drake.
- 17:11You know, I was definitely surprised, Like I don't know, it's
- 17:15it's again, it's not for me, but it's definitely I mean I'm definitely
- 17:18started like it. Yeah, like I said, it sounded good, like
- 17:25it's produced well, like the Drake type music, you know what I'm saying.
- 17:29I definitely understood what Quincy was talking about with the features because whenever you
- 17:33it was like a like a whole like energy vibe switch whenever it went into
- 17:38a feature, because like Quincy said, it was just like whatever the vibe
- 17:41of the feature was was whatever that person was on. So like whatever that
- 17:45person was on, that's what the song sounded like. And a few of
- 17:48them are like features that of you know, people that I don't really particularly
- 17:53like that much. So it was kind of like, eh, but you
- 17:57know, it's something. Then we talked about this week too, like it's
- 18:00a formula. It works. If it was so easy, anybody would do
- 18:04it, you know what I'm saying, Like, kudos to him because he's
- 18:07making it happen. Yeah, and I mean, hey, he got a
- 18:10number one out of it, you know what I'm saying, Like, of
- 18:11course he's Drake, you know what I'm saying, So it's not as far
- 18:15as a shot, but hey, like you said, it works, you
- 18:18know, so why break was not broken? You know? Yeah? I
- 18:23think bad Buddy starting to take the Drake approach to the it's put in music
- 18:30for a specific target audience. Yeah, yeah, he's definitely. He's definitely
- 18:34in that bag. And it kind of goes back to that topic that we've
- 18:37always kind of hit on with the podcast, Like there's a specific trajectory that
- 18:44you can take with music, and if you take that trajectory, you got
- 18:48to hit those marks along the way, you know what I mean, Like
- 18:52you have to be in that arena of sound, especially when it comes to
- 18:59pop in Top forty and Billboard and stuff like that. If you don't follow
- 19:03the formula, it don't work, you know what I mean. And like
- 19:07Joe was saying, bro, it's like a lot of us as artists,
- 19:11I mean shit, probably every single artist in the back of the mind they
- 19:15feel like, man, if I wanted to, I could make a song
- 19:18like that, you know what I'm saying, But all of us haven't done
- 19:21it right, you know what I'm saying, So, like you always gotta
- 19:25like that. That's kind of like the different approach. I always have a
- 19:27shout out to my boy Danny man because Danny kind of like put me onto
- 19:30this mindset back in the day because he was engineering at the time. So
- 19:37him engineering kind of gave him a different outlook on just all types of music.
- 19:41It's like, bro, Like, obviously there's an audience for everybody,
- 19:44and everybody is doing their artistry their way, true to whatever they're trying to
- 19:51do, you know what I mean. So it's like you can't be little
- 19:53lit or say oh he's whack, or oh he's doing it wrong, or
- 19:56he's doing X, Y and Z. It's like, bro, he's doing
- 19:59what he's doing, and if people are responding to it, God bless them
- 20:02because that's what we're all looking for, people to respond to it. You
- 20:04know what I'm saying, Yeah, I agree it, but yeah man,
- 20:11that that kind of leads into the next little topic. Like we've been talking
- 20:14a lot about just the idea of creating for yourself versus creating for others.
- 20:19Like it's something that I spoke to my brother about also, like because he
- 20:23does like a lot of YouTube videos, a lot of fighting game content,
- 20:27gaming content, a lot of Christian content, and he's kind of trying to
- 20:34not let the algorithm lead how he creates, so that he's just creating good
- 20:41content and hopefully it coincides with people enjoying it as well. But that's always
- 20:47like that delicate balance whenever you're trying to make anything you know, especially like
- 20:51I know you can even attest to a Joe as far as DJing this stuff,
- 20:53it's like you you got to make a mix that people are gonna vibe
- 20:56to. You can't just say, oh, this is old music. Y'all
- 21:00got to listen to this, like now they're gonna tell you what's the dope
- 21:03music. You could throw your stuff here and there and if it sounds good
- 21:06and if you know it, it'll sonically fit cool. But at the same
- 21:08time, the people are never wrong. Like you can't tell somebody their ear
- 21:12is wrong, what they enjoy is wrong. Get like your questions. I'm
- 21:17like, man, I don't want to mix that ship. Man, I
- 21:18want to mix what I want to mix up. But I said, you
- 21:23also want to please people because you want you I also want people to enjoy
- 21:26it. So you got to give them to find that line where you're still
- 21:29getting something to enjoy and you're not completely selfish about uh what what you're creating.
- 21:33So it's like, ultimately, unless you're doing it specifically for you,
- 21:37for you to sit in your bubble, it's entertainment. So you gotta do
- 21:41what's entertaining. Mm hmm. That's a great way to put it, because
- 21:45I love when I go when I go work out blacks Ship, it's my
- 21:48whole workout. Yeah, I can listen to every time and it keeps me
- 21:52energized, like why does everybody else do this? But yeah, man,
- 21:57it's it just like anything period, like as far as being creative or as
- 22:03far as you know, anything that requires any kind of thought, Like there's
- 22:08so many people doing different things and doing the same thing that you're doing that
- 22:12you really just got to make it cut through and stand out and be something
- 22:15that people are like, dang, everybody else is doing it, but this
- 22:18person's doing it differently and they're doing it in a dope way that catches my
- 22:22eye. That's that's a hard thing to do as well. Cut through,
- 22:26you know what I'm saying. And that's something that like I always reference like
- 22:30comedians and respect comedians in that sense because the comedians are like a lot of
- 22:37them. They'll be doing that for like twenty years, you know, twenty
- 22:41five year, fifteen years before they even get any kind of break, you
- 22:45know what I mean, before anybody ever says like, oh, okay,
- 22:48you know, we're familiar with you, you're funny. We're gonna use you
- 22:51for these gigs. We're gonna give you this, We're gonna do that.
- 22:52You know, Like comedians have to grind, grind and get there, and
- 22:56it's like use it. I don't always get that break either, And exactly,
- 23:00they don't always get to break either. And it's like with music,
- 23:03it's kind of like this perception of like you gotta blow when you're like a
- 23:07teenager and then that's it, you know what I mean. I was at
- 23:12a Nate Bargatzi show and like the opener before him was funny as hell,
- 23:17and he was like, yeah, he's like, we actually been doing this
- 23:18together. He said, I actually thought I was funnier, but somehow he
- 23:22got the break. He said it just like that. It's like like Nate
- 23:26Bargatzi a comedian, just like a real comedian, like like not like an
- 23:30Instagram YouTube reel comedian got popping off like TikTok and blew up so do so.
- 23:36Now he's in the whole sound in that live next week and that's that.
- 23:41That's one of the biggest moves they've made. It's given someone like that
- 23:44a shot and it's crazy and it's just it takes that shot man, and
- 23:48you got to grind, grind, grinder, be ready when you get it.
- 23:51But uh, sometimes that ship don't come. Yeah, it's it's it's
- 23:56that old thing of like you gotta have momentum, Like you got to create
- 24:00momentum to have momentum, you know what I mean, Like if you're if
- 24:03you're ready for the moment. If somebody comes by, like I look at
- 24:07it kind of like a train, you know what I mean, Like if
- 24:10a train comes by and it's coming by slowly, if you're not moving,
- 24:12or if you're like sitting down and when you see it, by the time
- 24:17you get up and start running and might leave. You know what I'm saying,
- 24:19You might not catch it. But if you're ready, if you're already
- 24:22kind of jogging, if you're already up, if you're already kind of looking
- 24:25for the train, and then you hear it coming and then you prepare yourself
- 24:26and you catch it as it goes like you're going to catch it, you
- 24:30know. And that's kind of like a big thing that I feel like a
- 24:33lot of people don't understand. It's like they want kind of like that like
- 24:37a hand slash. They want like an opportunity to possibly, you know,
- 24:42do something, but it's like you're not doing anything to set it up for
- 24:47yourself, you know what I mean. You just want somebody to send their
- 24:48hand to you, but you don't even have your hand out, you know
- 24:51what I mean. But yeah, man, that's that's always a super crazy,
- 25:00uh crazy battle. Was like somebody that's trying to do something creative and
- 25:04bro. Even to bring it back to Drake, like I'm pretty sure he
- 25:07has that battle every single day, bro, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:10Like he probably heard some of the joints on the album himself and was like,
- 25:14dang, man, like I would like to do X, Y and
- 25:17Z. But it's like kind of like Joe said, he owned a different
- 25:19waves. Man, he's trying to conquer the world. He's just trying to
- 25:22come for the artistic realm of let me be the best rapper, you know
- 25:26what I mean? Yeah, yeah, I think, like like Lebron,
- 25:32like he's not Winny Championships, but he's still performing at that level to keep
- 25:34himself. He's doing the extra stuff to keep himself in talks, in in
- 25:40the in the high level of elite players, all the extra little shit he's
- 25:44doing it just keeping some other because he can't. He's not hitting like the
- 25:48big missles that he wished you could hit by Built, but probably taking the
- 25:52Builders on team. I don't think he's trying to do that no more.
- 25:55And that's what I'm saying, Like I think, I think they're complacent where
- 25:59they are at. Think Jake's complaying where he's at. I think, like
- 26:02you said, you know, he's gonna keep using that recipe until it no
- 26:06longer works, and that's good for him. He's still talk uh the elite
- 26:11artists. Ain't nobody call him a good rapper anymore. Ain't nobody talking about
- 26:15his bars anymore. And that's what I think. Probably stop chasing trying to
- 26:22be the best lyricist like he used to be, and not just be a
- 26:25hit maker. Man, he really just he did it all already, you
- 26:29know what I mean. It's like to a certain point, it's like what
- 26:32are you gonna What are you gonna do? What's the motivation? Like even
- 26:36like with music, it's like what what do you what else do you even
- 26:38have to talk about at this point? You know what I'm saying. Like
- 26:41it's a tough thing, That's what. That's why I even like the idea
- 26:45of like ghostwriters and stuff, especially when it comes to singers like Drake.
- 26:49A lot of the singing stuff he does, he'll get that song from like
- 26:52another writer like Party next Doors one. Yeah, Jordan has done stuff for
- 26:57him and stuff. So it's like those joints. I love art like I
- 27:03love with singing that you're able to do that because it opens up an artists
- 27:08to another sound or another vibe and another feeling, like that person could kind
- 27:12of transfer that emotion to you. You feel the song and you give it
- 27:15that same delivery, and it's a different thing than what you've been singing about.
- 27:22You know what I'm saying. It's kind of it kind of sucks,
- 27:26but I understand why you can't do that and rap, you know what I
- 27:30mean? Like rapping, you know, people not accepting ghostwriters and stuff like
- 27:34that. Like I get it. You know, rap is a in that
- 27:40form. It's a sport, you know what I'm saying. And it's like
- 27:44it makes sense. But now when we're crossing over into the the hip hop
- 27:48category where you're not really rapping rapping, it's just like hip hop like which
- 27:52hip hop is like little Baby Gunna, young Thug, you know, like
- 27:56people that aren't just like traditionally rapping if they have ghostwriters or something. I
- 28:02don't mind that, you know what I'm saying, You're not really rapping,
- 28:03you know what, making a song. You're making a record exactly, you
- 28:07singing your melodies like Roddy Rich. If Roddy Rich had a ghostwriter, I'd
- 28:10be like, oh, okay, he got a ghostwriter, you know what
- 28:11I mean. Like, it wouldn't be something that I'm like, oh my
- 28:15gosh, you know what I mean. Honestly, it's kind of something we've
- 28:18been talking about a little bit and alluding to. But like hip hop,
- 28:21I mean, rap is dying, bro, Like rap is almost out the
- 28:25fucking goddamn window. Bro, crazy too. I don't know. I think
- 28:30like, and you're right man when you say that, because it's like I
- 28:33feel like as the true appreciators of hip hop grow, you know what,
- 28:41I'm saying, or rap grows, the value goes down as well. And
- 28:48not only is the value of actual rap going down, but the appreciation of
- 28:52this hop hop I guess you could call it, it's going up, you
- 28:57know what I mean, that's getting a heard of. Yeah. So it's
- 29:02like, I don't know, I just feel like I guess as we grow,
- 29:04you know, I mean, like I said, I appreciate artists like
- 29:07Jay and Niles who can take that time and grow and still put out good
- 29:14lyrics and stuff that as I grow, I can still relate to and still
- 29:18it still resonates. I guess that's kind of what I would hope from someone
- 29:26like Drake, being that his earlier stuff it was. It was very thought
- 29:30provoking, you know what I mean, he was dropping stuff early in his
- 29:33career. I mean, yeah, he had ghostwriters and stuff too. But
- 29:37I mean, if that's the case, bro, keep them ghostwriters around.
- 29:41You say that all the Ai Drake versus ever heard are some fire ass versus.
- 29:51And there's simple raps. It's like the ship, he used to say,
- 29:52with a bunch of punchlines, a bunch of like metaphors. There's simple
- 29:57raps and they're so good it's and I've heard like thousands of versus. He
- 30:04knows what the people are because the people are doing it themselves now. And
- 30:11now just let someone else write this ship for you. I was writing the
- 30:15eyebars. Letim write it for you, bro. I think he's falling out
- 30:21of love with the music. I think it's kind of like what you said
- 30:25about people just don't value that kind of music anymore, you know what I
- 30:29mean? I could see him saying, who group of people? At least?
- 30:33Yeah exactly. It's like, why am I going to rap like this?
- 30:34And then I'm putting myself in a box when I can rap like this
- 30:38and get you know, do these arenas and do these crazy numbers and you
- 30:42know, have these top forty hits, you know what I mean? M
- 30:45h. I think it's just kind of what we're talking about, Like it's
- 30:49a formula it's a certain style of creating to be in that mix all the
- 30:56time. You know, it's it's a hard thing to do, but it's
- 31:00definitely formulaic, you know what I mean. You gotta be inside a certain
- 31:03box. Yeah. Well, what do y'all think about this Kanye and Tay
- 31:10Dollar signed album that's gonna come out. I'm h it's about to be five
- 31:12years. I'm hype every Kanye and title song, sign song. I think
- 31:17I've heard I Love Man, even that one off the YA album. What's
- 31:22it called Wouldn't Leave? I think it's called Yeah, oh Man, that
- 31:26song, Bro, it's so crazy. I told y'all maybe yeah. I
- 31:32think last episode said I'm not excited for music anymore. I'm excited for this.
- 31:36It's probably the first thing I'm looking forward to and anticipating the release.
- 31:41Yeah, I am looking forward to this. That's what I was saying before
- 31:45we go off. Move on, bad Bunnies. I would say the last
- 31:48album he came out with last week, it's on that same level. He
- 31:52made music for certain fans, and now he's talking like the rich talk,
- 31:59and now he's calling people out on the ship. So he's doing he's taking
- 32:02a different turn, which I think like the Scorpion Drake took. And now
- 32:08I was like, look how big he was, so cow consistent he was,
- 32:10Look how all the mark he was, and now he's in that place
- 32:15like damn, what what do I do now? Like and and when people
- 32:19were like them like, who's this guy? Is he? Who is he
- 32:22not. He wasn't the same bad bunny he was for the last four or
- 32:23five years or three albums. Now it's just like, all right, he's
- 32:27completely changing again, and there's people who like it, and and I'm not
- 32:31a fan, and I became a huge fan after the Trap album stopped and
- 32:37now this is like a mixtape and I'm like, I wasn't feeling that.
- 32:39I don't I don't put it down, but I wasn't feeling it. It's
- 32:43not a bad bunny that I enjoyed. I was like, Damn, I
- 32:45thought I was gonna enjoy him for the rest of the time now. And
- 32:49it's just it's just seeing the evolution of artists and the decisions they make,
- 32:53and they all gotta go through, man, they gotta go through, just
- 32:55like when we make decisions and stuff, the right one speaking about the artistry
- 33:02and what we've been talking about, man like speaking about Kanye bro Like,
- 33:07that's the thing about Kanye that you know. I think it's a big piece
- 33:13of what bothers Drake about the whole situation with Kanye is that Kanye is one
- 33:21of those guys that really just broke through because his artistry was just that good,
- 33:25Like he really just let he you know, he had his little antics
- 33:29and stuff, but his main message from the beginning was I'm better than everybody.
- 33:31Let me show you. You know what I'm saying, And he was
- 33:35making better beats in everybody. Then he started making better raps in everybody.
- 33:38And it's like the proof is there, and what can you say? Like
- 33:40you played an album and you were like, bro, like he did it
- 33:44again? How like this gets like it just has a vibe. He captures
- 33:47a feeling like he knows how to how to corral your emotion musically, Like
- 33:52sonically he knows what to do. Like that's something that it's so valuable like
- 34:00as an artist, and that's why he can do all these things that he
- 34:04does, all these outbursts that he has and have you know, reportedly five
- 34:08major labels courting him to drop that collab album with ty Dolla signed because they
- 34:15know he's about to do numbers and they know it's about to be some fire
- 34:17music. You know. They say it's like some of his best music as
- 34:22as of like the recent stuff in the last five Yeah, I'm not gonna
- 34:30lie. Is this his first album since him and Kim separated? Oh,
- 34:36he about to drop some heat going through it. I believe in the second
- 34:44what was the album, there was two down the two there it goes.
- 34:47I think they were like separated, and he was kind of saying that he
- 34:51was going to get her back or something on that album. But now it's
- 34:52like things bringing her out to the to the shows. Yeah, mhmm,
- 35:00crazy bro, man. We don't We don't got too much time to get
- 35:05into this, but I definitely want to touch on it and speak on this
- 35:08further in the future and do kind of like a deeper dive on in a
- 35:13man, this WWE UFC merger. It's a lot of crazy little details in
- 35:20there and different threads that we could pull on. But the specific thing that
- 35:22I wanted to talk about this week about it was a little piece of news
- 35:27basically saying that Ari Emanuel, which was the Endeavor CEO. Endeavor was the
- 35:31company that bought UFC, so he was the guy basically at the top of
- 35:37UFC. They ended up doing a meal, I mean a deal where they
- 35:40acquired WWE and they created like a company together with UFC. So now he's
- 35:47kind of that CEO of all that, and when he kind of took power
- 35:52he removed Vince McMahon from the creative side of ww Vince McMahon is the guy
- 35:58that started. Yeah, he didn't started, he got it from his dad,
- 36:00but he's the one that basically started the nationwide presence of wrestling. He's
- 36:05the reason why any of us even really know wrestling, Like, even if
- 36:07you're a fan or not, you only really heard of it because of Vince
- 36:10McMahon. He's the one that promoted it like that. You know, he
- 36:13made wrestling in a household thing. Yep. So Ari Emanuel comes in,
- 36:17you know, they buy the company and obviously at this point Vince agreed to
- 36:22sell. Somebody buys the company, they could do whatever they want, but
- 36:25one of the first things they do is remove him from creative. They assigned
- 36:29Triple H, which he's married to, Vince McMahan's daughter. He's been in
- 36:34an executive position at WWE for a long time, so they're kind of like
- 36:37what he's doing, so they keep them in place. He's now the head
- 36:40of creative. It used to be Vince McMahon, and Vince McMahon was very
- 36:45hands on. He was very they said, he was very erratic. He
- 36:47would change a lot of things last minute, he would change, like if
- 36:52somebody else came up with an idea, he would change their ideas. And
- 36:57a lot of people said it was really hard to work with him creatively that
- 36:59way. And now they removed him from the situation, and they're pretty much
- 37:02just saying we're gonna move forward with Triple H. We don't need you anymore.
- 37:07Thanks. What do y'all think about? I want to get shout a
- 37:12Triple H man because I know that the work he's put in. He ran
- 37:14the whole farm system in Florida. Uh, he was over there in full
- 37:17sail recruiting. Every Thursday, him and him and Stephanie would go to Full
- 37:23Sale in Orlando and watch those NXT shows and look for the next steps,
- 37:28the next call ups and work with them. He major pillar of what wrestling
- 37:31was, what maintained This is the crazy ship that Vision Man had. Some
- 37:37crazy say everyone that they want to he want to start a story about him
- 37:39and his daughter being romantically involved in his stuff. Yeah, I heard about
- 37:44that. Yeah, Like he's a nutcase. Yeah, he's a fucking nutcase.
- 37:49I think he's been should have been gone. I think that the ship
- 37:52that people hate about w W and the whole Roman Reigns tenure that everybody cannot
- 37:58believe has gone on, and anything that solvingsic Man, I think he's like
- 38:02the Jerry Jones WWE fact. He's a great, great analogy. But yeah,
- 38:09man, speaking on that Triple A situation, like I believe he kind
- 38:14of spearheaded even that farm system, and he was kind of the ones that
- 38:16put all those deals together and made it what it is and created it into
- 38:21like a viable brand. It's on TV, you know what I'm saying,
- 38:23Like he made it something. Basically, he turned the minor leagues into a
- 38:30TV program slash like a big event, something that's gonna sell tickets. Like
- 38:35no bro, no league has been able to make their minor league even viable
- 38:42at all, you know what I'm saying. The WWE, you know,
- 38:45it's wrestling whatever, you can say, whatever you want. They were able
- 38:47to take their farm system and make it a nationally syndicated TV show like a
- 38:53lot of companies, a lot of people with the NFL can't do that,
- 38:55the NBA can't do that, Major leags soccer can't do that. Nobody's been
- 39:00able to do something like that. So it's definitely a crazy feat. Yeah,
- 39:05no facts as far as them removing VINCIK Man I have. I think
- 39:13I made a point the other day, Le's you know kind of one of
- 39:15the things that I've seen just in business before is you know, corporate basically
- 39:21by this man's business and they removed him. But then they realized after they
- 39:28removed him that they couldn't operate the business as efficiently because he had the experience.
- 39:34They had the money, but he had the experience, and so eventually
- 39:38they were forced to basically hire him back on retainer rather than you know,
- 39:45having him in a role in the company. So when they let him go,
- 39:50he was an employee. When they hired him on retainer, he was
- 39:52a contractor, making way more so they ended up losing in the end.
- 39:58But I just I'm not saying Vince mcman they need Vince McMahon. But what
- 40:02I'm saying is I'm interested to see how it plays out, because, like
- 40:07I said, I've seen it on the other end where removing that individual wasn't
- 40:10the right decision. Yeah, definitely kind of goes back to what we said,
- 40:15like we only really know about wrestling because of Vince McMahon, You know
- 40:20what I mean. He's definitely the one that trained Triple H and he's kind
- 40:22of been Vince McMahon's right hand man for like damn near twenty years by now,
- 40:29so you know he's probably learned enough from him, and he probably has
- 40:31the support from Vince McMann. But you definitely make a great point because you
- 40:37know, it kind of goes back to the Jerry Jones thing, like,
- 40:40yeah, you know, he gets in the way of football and supposedly,
- 40:45you know, they could probably do better if he wasn't so mixed up in
- 40:49the day to day of the football team. But it's the most expensive franchise
- 40:52I believe in the world, right, Like, there's no other sports teams
- 40:57that's valued more than that team, is I think? So yeah, without
- 41:00even winning the Super Bowl exactly. I mean, and it's like you could
- 41:05say, you know, that kind of goes back to a thing that Jeff
- 41:08Tigue was talking about on a podcast. I don't remember the podcast, but
- 41:10he was basically saying, Bro, he don't he does not care about no
- 41:15rings. He would take a MAX contract for his whole career over the rings,
- 41:17because it's like, bro, what is a ring good to do for
- 41:20me? You know what? I mean, and you think about it from
- 41:22that point of view too, Like you got people talking about Dak Prescott and
- 41:25all this stuff, and you know, he's this, he's that. Whatever.
- 41:28Bro, he's the most famous, you know, arguably one of the
- 41:31most famous quarterbacks in the world, just because he's the quarterback of the Cowboys,
- 41:36you know what I'm saying, Like right, right, So you know
- 41:38he's making crazy money. He got all these endorsement deals, he got all
- 41:42this stuff going on. How is he losing because he don't got a ring,
- 41:45you know what I mean, Like a lot of people don't got rings,
- 41:50right, right, But yeah, man, that's pretty much all I
- 41:57had as far as topics go. So we can get into the Billboard game
- 42:00real quick, b Yeah, bro, this was the first time. This
- 42:06is a little side note, man, I went to originally I was in
- 42:10two thousand and thirteen. Right, The chart was so bad, bro that
- 42:17I was like, nah, I had to go to another air. Like
- 42:21I couldn't even figure out like how to make like clues about it. Like
- 42:24all the songs were so ass It was a terrible Oh man, it's crazy.
- 42:30Yeah, bro, it was tough, it definitely thirteen Yeah, twenty
- 42:32thirteen it was a rough one, bro, but yeah, So like always,
- 42:37man, y'all both throw out a year, and whoever's closer will go
- 42:42first. I'm gonna say, oh seven, two thousand and seven, we'll
- 42:45say oh five, but we needn't know what years were already done. Oh
- 42:50no, no, it could be yeah, it could be the same one.
- 42:52All right, So Quincy's gonna go first, because it is we are
- 42:58in two thousand and nine. All right, alright, first question is quintuplet
- 43:06m hm. So this tricking anthem from a down South legend was an instant
- 43:12classic. The options are Ludacris TI and trick Daddy. This tricking anthem from
- 43:21a down South legend was an instant classic. January tenth, two thousand and
- 43:25nine. Ludacris TI or trick Daddy tricking anthem? You tricky bastard? D
- 43:38Let me say t I T I all right, all right, it's the
- 43:44correct artist. What was the name of the song for the point? I
- 43:51got the song in my head? Whatever you like? Yes, let's get
- 44:01it. See whatever you like? Was number nine on the charts that week.
- 44:10It was actually on its way down, bro, it had been number
- 44:13one. I didn't even know that that song was a billboard. That song
- 44:15was big. Yeah, that's crazy, all right, Joe, you got
- 44:23question number two. This experimental flute driven banger letter revolution and hip hop music
- 44:34for better or worse? The options are Drake jay Z and Kanye West.
- 44:42This experimental flute driven banger led a revolution and hip hop music for better or
- 44:49worse? Oh, you want to guess an artist? Manz incorrect, my
- 45:05friend, go ahead, Quincy. This experimental flute driven banger led a revolution
- 45:12and hip hop music for better or worse? Drake jay Z or Kanye West?
- 45:19Drake incorrect? Joe to you, Okay, this experimental driven banger led
