Transcript
- 0:18Hi guys, it's Megan from Vigilante Vibes and I am here to
- 0:21give you my spoiler free review of the Fantastic Four First
- 0:24steps. I saw it last night and usually
- 0:26I immediately come home and give a review, but life got in the
- 0:32way. So I'm going to give you a
- 0:34spoiler free review and if you want spoilers you can check on
- 0:37my other video which will actually have spoilers.
- 0:40So I didn't really know what to expect going into the movie.
- 0:43I'd seen all the amazing reviews.
- 0:45Everyone was just loving it. I've always liked the Fantastic
- 0:50Four, but I've never been like super, super into them like I am
- 0:54with other characters. But I will say, I think the
- 0:59casting was fantastic. Sorry, was amazing.
- 1:04I will say the cast of the movie, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro
- 1:10Pascal, just a Quinn of Evan Bacharach.
- 1:13They really did bring something new to the characters.
- 1:17I think it's not a secret that I've never been a Reed Richards
- 1:21fan. I think he's actually a villain.
- 1:24But Pedro Pascal brought something to Reed that actually
- 1:29made me like Reed. I was questioning myself, like,
- 1:34am I actually a Reed Richard's fan?
- 1:36It was a whole soul searching thing that had to go through
- 1:39apparently. But the it's not even just what
- 1:43they brought to the characters, but it was the chemistry between
- 1:45the characters, like with Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm, the
- 1:49bickering back and forth, the treating each other like their
- 1:52genuine family that shown that that shine so brightly
- 1:58throughout the movie that it really did.
- 2:00And still the idea that these people are the are a family.
- 2:05The person who I think stole the show was Sue Storm.
- 2:09Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm. That's there's that's just who
- 2:14you are now this, that casting is about on par with Robert
- 2:20Downey Junior's Iron Man or I'm in Vilani as Miss Marvel.
- 2:25Other than the cast, I'd say Galactus was done perfectly,
- 2:31phenomenally perfect. It was terrifying.
- 2:35It was menacing. You really did get goosebumps
- 2:38seeing it, especially if you're a comic reader.
- 2:40Seeing it actually brought to life really, really did
- 2:44something to you. Shala Ball, who was played by
- 2:47Julia Gardner, amazing scenes with her comic accuracy out the
- 2:53butt and there's just so much to like about it, about her in that
- 2:59role. It was fantastic.
- 3:01I gotta stop using that word. It was phenomenal.
- 3:04It was amazing. It was incredible for the movie.
- 3:08I'll say that is the most comic accurate movie The MCU has put
- 3:11out. For comic fans.
- 3:12You are going to love this movie.
- 3:14There's just you will for people who are not comic fans, I think
- 3:19there will be some point. You're kind of like, what does
- 3:22that mean? But I hope it does make you want
- 3:27to read the comics and get to know these characters even more
- 3:30on the pages. And 'cause there's such a rich
- 3:32history with all of these characters, all of their
- 3:35stories, and all of these stories are referenced in the
- 3:37movies, like their first fight with Mole Man.
- 3:40That's not a spoiler because that's already been released,
- 3:43but there's so many little things in it that they really
- 3:47did do so much research on. There's also two end credit
- 3:55scenes that you do want to stay for.
- 3:59The first one, you want to stay for the second one Was funny.
- 4:07Now the negatives of it. I don't think there is enough
- 4:11action scenes for my liking. I would have liked more than
- 4:14that. I won't say it's the best Marvel
- 4:17movie, but I will say it is the best Fantastic Four movie by
- 4:19far. I really enjoyed it, even though
- 4:22there are some things I would have preferred to happen
- 4:24differently. But I think it nailed the tone
- 4:26of the Fantastic Four comics. It nailed the characteristics of
- 4:29these characters that make them who they are, these characters
- 4:31that we've all loved and read for so, so long.
- 4:35And it brought in Fantastic Four centric villains that really did
- 4:39make it feel like a comic book came to life.
- 4:42And I love that. Overall, I think Fantastic Four
- 4:47first steps was a beautiful love letter written to Jack Kirby.
- 4:52They actually even had a quote from him in the movie at the end
- 4:56of the movie actually, that says, if you look at my
- 4:58characters, you'll find me. No matter what kind of character
- 5:01you create or assume, a little of yourself must remain there.
- 5:04And at that point I was like, do I cry?
- 5:07Cause a lot of you know, I don't cry at movies.
- 5:10I'd never do. But that point I was like, it's
- 5:13nice to see Jack Kirby get the love that usually goes to Stan
- 5:20Lee, but they made very, very sure to include him and include
- 5:26his legacy in this movie. So I'd say this movie really did
- 5:31hit hard. Like I said, I don't think it's
- 5:34the best Marvel movie, but it is up there.
- 5:38I know a lot of people didn't like it.
- 5:39I saw some people say it was a filler movie that they just
- 5:44didn't click with it. And it's like I think once
- 5:47Avengers Doomsday comes out that that appreciation will elevate
- 5:50because it's leads directly into Avengers Doomsday.
- 5:55So like I said, this movie was made for comic fans, but I would
- 6:01think those who didn't read the comics would have a little more
- 6:05of a challenging time keeping up with the characters and the
- 6:07dynamics. But then again, I wouldn't know
- 6:09because I read the comics. I really, really hope this movie
- 6:15brings in more comic readers because I think something has
- 6:18always annoyed me about Marvel is how Marvel Studios just
- 6:22chooses not to involve comics in their movies.
- 6:25Well, and I don't know how to say it, how they promote the
- 6:30movie should be more comic centered.
- 6:32And I think Fantastic Four is a really great start because Matt
- 6:36Shockman did, he's the director really did go out of his way to
- 6:39make sure it's very comic accurate and involve comic
- 6:42accuracies. And this time Marvel on their
- 6:47YouTube channel had a 90 minute history of the Fantastic Four in
- 6:51the comics, which I think they should do more often.
- 6:53And they did make it to where you could read these Fantastic
- 6:58Four comics. I think it was like 4 of them
- 6:59for free. So there's that.
- 7:02They did up their game and I hope they continue to do that.
- 7:06But overall, I'd say it was like a nine out of 10.
- 7:12That might change. To be safe, I'll say 8.7 out of
- 7:1610. But I will say it, it's in my
- 7:20comic loving heart. Very, very good.
- 7:22I did really love it. So let me know in the comments
- 7:26what you thought. If you want to see a spoiler
- 7:28version of this video, I am posting that as well.
- 7:30So just check out my channel. With that being said, have a
- 7:34marvelous day.
