- Lucas: Velkommen til episode 42 of Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. Luna: I can't believe it's already episode 42! Time flies. Lucas: It does. And today we're talking about something that affects all of us: weather. Luna: Oh, good. I've been wanting to talk about the weather in Norwegian. It always comes up in conversation. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with a very common word: sol. Luna: Sol. Lucas: Sol means sun. Repeat after me: sol. Luna: Sol. Lucas: Great. Now, if you want to say 'It is sunny,' you say: Det er sol. Literally 'It is sun.' Det er sol. Luna: Det er sol. Lucas: Perfect. So sol is the sun, and Det er sol means it's sunny. Let's try a little scene. Imagine you look out the window and see bright sunshine. What do you say? Luna: Det er sol! Lucas: Exactly. I love that. Now, next word: regn. Luna: Regn. Lucas: Regn means rain. Say it with me: regn. Luna: Regn. Lucas: Good. Now, to say 'It is raining,' we use a verb. In Norwegian, we say: Det regner. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Det regner. Notice the -er ending. That's how we make the present tense for many verbs. So regn is the noun, but regner is the verb 'rains.' Det regner. Luna: Det regner. So if I'm stuck inside because of rain, I can say: Det regner. Lucas: Exactly. And you might add: Jeg blir inne. But that's for another day. Let's practice. Look out the window — it's raining. What do you say? Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Perfect. Now, the last one for today: snø. Luna: Snø. Lucas: Snø means snow. Say it: snø. Luna: Snø. Lucas: And 'It is snowing' is: Det snør. Luna: Det snør. Lucas: Det snør. So snø is the noun, snør is the verb. Let's do a quick review. I'll say the English, you say the Norwegian. Luna: Okay, ready. Lucas: Sun. Luna: Sol. Lucas: It is sunny. Luna: Det er sol. Lucas: Rain. Luna: Regn. Lucas: It is raining. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Snow. Luna: Snø. Lucas: It is snowing. Luna: Det snør. Lucas: Excellent! You really nailed that. Let's put it all together in a little story. Imagine you're planning a trip to Norway in winter. You check the weather forecast. What do you hope to see? Luna: Maybe snø? I'd love to see snow. Lucas: Yes! So you might say: Jeg håper det snør. But let's keep it simple. Just Det snør. Now, imagine you're in Bergen in autumn. What might you see? Luna: Regn? I heard it rains a lot there. Lucas: It does. So you'd say: Det regner. And in summer in Oslo? Maybe sol? Luna: Det er sol! Lucas: Perfect. You're ready to talk about weather in Norwegian. Let's do one more round. Repeat after me: sol. Luna: Sol. Lucas: Det er sol. Luna: Det er sol. Lucas: Regn. Luna: Regn. Lucas: Det regner. Luna: Det regner. Lucas: Snø. Luna: Snø. Lucas: Det snør. Luna: Det snør. Lucas: Wonderful. So next time you're in Norway, you can comment on the weather like a local. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. Luna: Tusen takk, Lucas. See you next time!
