- 0:00Aloha. Saturday morning. Dry weekend ahead, then tropical moisture moves in Tuesday. Mele here with what's happening in Hawaiʻi today.
- 1:36This weekend stays dry with moderate trade winds. Windward areas and the Kona slopes will see some showers, but leeward coasts are mostly clear—solid beach days. Tuesday through Thursday, that flips. Tropical moisture arrives and you're looking at notably wetter conditions statewide. If you've got outdoor plans, finish them by Monday.
- 1:53Surf is up on the south and north shores of Oʻahu—5.1 feet and 4.4 feet respectively, both moderate. Watch for rip currents and shore break. Kauaʻi's north shore is hitting 5.8 feet. Maui and the Big Island are much calmer—Hapuna is nearly flat at 1.5 feet, perfect for swimmers and kids.
- 2:07Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is open. Kīpukapuaulu Trail is closed due to hazardous trees, and Sulphur Banks Bridge is down—the boardwalk stays open. Kīlauea is at a Watch alert level. Breezy trade winds mean a Small Craft Advisory is active for Maui County and Big Island waters through the weekend.
- 2:22Our latest piece on Kīlauea tracks what's happening at the summit right now. HVO reported no active lava flows as of Friday, but there's minor spatter at the north vent as the mountain starts to swell again. If you're planning a Big Island volcano visit, that article breaks down what you can actually see on the ground.
- 2:38Next week brings the wetter pattern—Tuesday through Thursday, plan flexible outdoor schedules and monitor tropical updates if nearby systems develop.
- 2:46Get to the leeward beaches today while conditions are clear. See you Monday.
