- 0:25Home Services dot comtel phone number six so eight five three five forty three forty
- 0:30three. That's five three five four three four three. Andrew, how you
- 0:33doing this morning? Well, I'm calling from actually in lod I, Wisconsin
- 0:38today, which is it's wonderful. But you know, people can tell last
- 0:42week I wasn't in studio. I was staring at the ocean during the show.
- 0:46It was pretty wonderful. It's rough man sometimes sometimes so some of us
- 0:51have to sacrifice. Well, it's great to have you, have you back,
- 0:54and you brought the warm weather with you, which is which is good.
- 0:58We'll call it a mixed bag. Obviously, we can always use some
- 1:00warmer temperatures. I think we could always love and enjoy it. Other things
- 1:04can be can cause some issues, and it's important to talk a little bit
- 1:08about where we are right now temperature wise, not necessarily calendar wise. There
- 1:14are some great opportunities with this warmer weather. As we get into late winter
- 1:19on into spring, right Andrew, it is. You know, typically we
- 1:23you know, we're in February, it's cold, it's there's typically some snow
- 1:29on the ground, and we're going, oh my gosh, what I hope
- 1:32this stuff melts. And then as a whomeowner, we think, okay,
- 1:34what do we need to start doing or thinking about for spring? And you
- 1:38know a lot of people don't think about it until it's actually spring. But
- 1:42you know, I look at the extended forecast about forty five days and winters
- 1:48don't like I mean, I'm knocking on wood. But the app I use
- 1:53is, you know, we're pretty fortunate nowadays with weather apps. You know,
- 1:57we're gonna have some cold nights and there, but for the most part,
- 2:00I mean, I think we're going to be what is it tickling fifty
- 2:05sixty degrees today and then next week sixty's it? Spring is here, and
- 2:08so now it's really time to start thinking. And I think it's great because
- 2:12now we don't have to have this giant rush of we need to get this
- 2:17done. We need to get our gutters fixed. We you know, our
- 2:22roof is an issue. I mean, if that's what we're really thinking,
- 2:24about and you've got you know, you think you have issues with your roof,
- 2:29but you just you just don't know. And we've got some new TV
- 2:31commercials coming out next week which really kind of explain it. And we got
- 2:35a lot of people that you know, you know, my roof looks great
- 2:38from the ground, but yet I have this wet spot on the ceiling,
- 2:43or my my roof looks great, but maybe but I could I looked in
- 2:47the attic and we had some leaking. It happens all the time. And
- 2:52I talk about when I talk about roofing, I talk about the details,
- 2:55and the details are the really really important part. And look, there's there's
- 3:00lots of roofers, I mean hundreds of roofers in the state of Wisconsin.
- 3:04And when you're getting estimates or you're having somebody come over, do they talk
- 3:07about the details. Most of the time the answers, No, they talk
- 3:12about what color shingle do you want? Now, the color shingle is very
- 3:19important, but when it comes down to the functionality of your roofing system,
- 3:22it literally has nothing to do with it. We can change the look of
- 3:24a house, we can spruce up the look of a house, but you
- 3:28know, really a color is kind of like the last thing we should be
- 3:30talking about. We need to talk about the details, the ice and water,
- 3:34the underlayments, the chimney flashing, the cricket that all of the things
- 3:38that keep water on top of the shingles. Remember, I've always said that
- 3:44you can put the best, most expensive shingle in the world on your home,
- 3:47but if the details and the flashings are not done properly, that roof
- 3:52is going to leak. And we see it every single day. And that's
- 3:54why that's why we've kind of changed the way we do things. I mean,
- 3:59not the way we do a We've always done roofs the best way possible
- 4:01with the best materials and the best warranties. But you know, now when
- 4:04we go out to do gutter estimates for gutter, shutter or a roof,
- 4:10we're doing a full sixteen point inspection, and we're showing the homeowner through photos
- 4:14and videos and an actual in an actual check sheet, like what is going
- 4:18on with your roof? Because we hear it all the time. You know,
- 4:20my roof's only eight years old. I got a leak. I've talked
- 4:24to two roofers and they said, I have to replace it. That's very
- 4:27doubtful. It's very doubtful that you have to replace an eight eight year old
- 4:30roof. How about we come out, let Larsen come out, do an
- 4:33inspection and tell you exactly what's wrong with your roof and prescribe exactly what needs
- 4:39to be done to bring years back to those current shingles and saving you thousands
- 4:44of dollars in the process. So, I mean, that's kind of the
- 4:46focus that we've taken out. There are times we go out to roofs and
- 4:50people are hoping for a repair and that's not possible. The shingles are actually
- 4:55shot. But that's part of our inspection and we back it up with video
- 4:58and photos so you can see this is what's really going on. There's there's
- 5:01matt cracking, these flashings weren't done properly, You've got wind damage, whatever
- 5:05it may be. We're gonna let you know exactly what state those shingles are
- 5:11in and prescribe the correct the correct course of action to fix them, and
- 5:16whether that's a repair or a restore as we like to call We don't just
- 5:19like to repair, we'd actually like to restore. So fix all the problems,
- 5:24maybe not just one, or it's a replacement. Either way, we'll
- 5:27let you know exactly what needs to be done and what it'll cost. You
- 5:30know, Andrew, I think back to like that first car, most of
- 5:32us, if we were lucky enough, our parents may have helped us out,
- 5:36or or maybe we just went in Phoenix nineteen eighty two, shot Phoenix.
- 5:42I don't know if you've ever seen one of those. I don't think
- 5:44it was kind of like a a citation. Okay, you've ever seen one
- 5:49of those. You know what those are? Yeah, that's it, And
- 5:53that's exactly like we think. You get that first car, and the first
- 5:57thing we want to do is as a as a new car owner, we
- 5:59want to get a great stereo system in there. We want to do all
- 6:01these all these things, but we ignore things like oil changes in the breaks.
- 6:06What ends up costing us in the end is the oil changes in the
- 6:11breaks. You'll have a great car parked in the driveway that can bump some
- 6:14tunes. But if you're not paying attention to those important things. That thing
- 6:20you do with that new car when you're you know, young, you put
- 6:24a stereo in it. I think of and I think of folks who who
- 6:28get lured in by uh, you know somebody, all let's get these and
- 6:31the you guys have the absolute best looking shingles, the absolute best perform of
- 6:38everything. But if you're just looking at oh, let's get it, let's
- 6:42get picking out colors and that type of thing, and not getting that.
- 6:45I think the great thing about working with you guys at Larget Home Services,
- 6:47which we had done on our home, was understanding that there's more than just
- 6:51the stereo that it is. It is the important things that you don't see,
- 6:56that you don't fully appreciate until something goes wrong, when you have that
- 7:00leak, when you have those other issues, you're going why did Why didn't
- 7:02I go with somebody like large Stop Services who will go through and help you
- 7:05understand why a roof needs to be done a certain way, why flashings are
- 7:10the way that they are. You talk about the term cricket, which is
- 7:13a word that I learned from you and over the roof and it is not
- 7:16the European game. No, it is a roofing. It is a roofing
- 7:20detail and it's a problem area, isn't it for a lot of homes?
- 7:24Very much so if nobody knows what that is. It's it's the space behind
- 7:28your chimney. A lot of people still have nice, big, beautiful brick
- 7:30chimney stone chimneys, and some are two feet wide, some are three feet
- 7:34wide. I've seen them as wide as eight feet without a cricket, And
- 7:38a cricket is basically just creating another roof behind that chimney, so when the
- 7:42water comes down behind it, it doesn't just smash up on the back of
- 7:46it. It's actually channeled away and around it. It's it's amazing. That's
- 7:50a Chimneys are a problem. Yeah, well for a lot of people,
- 7:55that is a major detail that gets overlooked time and time again. We see
- 8:00it every day, so that's that's a major part. You know. The
- 8:03other thing I think of is gutters. A lot of people can just look
- 8:07up at their gutters and and Okay, well they look great, but are
- 8:11they You know they're not. They're not great if they're clogged and you don't
- 8:15know it. And then we get that first big rain and and with gutter
- 8:18shutter, you put it up and it's a it's a one and done.
- 8:22You know that it is not going to be clogged. You know that it
- 8:26is going to be free flowing. I mean it is a full six inch
- 8:28gutter with cover guaranteed to not clog. It's got wide mouse that connect into
- 8:33the downspout, so the hole that is taking the water into the down spout
- 8:37is four by six inches and then going into a three by four inch down
- 8:41spout. So I've never seen a rain that it can't handle it. It
- 8:48sucks the water in, it never clogs, and it takes care of one
- 8:50more of those maintenance issues that you that you might have to deal with.
- 8:56So it's like and as that flash properly? Is that slope properly? That's
- 9:00something that we run into all the time where you know, someone just wants
- 9:03to put a cover on their gutter, but what they don't know is that
- 9:05the gutters weren't flashed properly, the gutters aren't slow properly. So when they
- 9:09put the cover on top of the gutters, now they've just got a gutter
- 9:13that won't clog, but yet water can still leave behind it and it will
- 9:16still overflow with the heavy rain. So doing a full system, we can
- 9:20we can guarantee a homeowner that everything's going to be working properly and if it
- 9:24doesn't, they pick up the phone, they call us and we come out
- 9:26and fix it. Great data. Take advantage of the great weather. We've
- 9:28got to had a great data. Have your roof looked at, whether it's
