- 0:15Speaker 1: Spencer new Arth, and today we're joined by Steve Yanni
- 0:18Speaker 1: Brody cal Randall, Danielle Corey and Brendan Rundy. This is
- 0:23Speaker 1: a ten round quiz show with questions for meat eaters
- 0:25Speaker 1: for verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation and cooking, and
- 0:29Speaker 1: there's a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars
- 0:31Speaker 1: to the conservation organization of the winners choosing now. Brendan
- 0:35Speaker 1: is our guest on today's episode, and for the first
- 0:38Speaker 1: time ever, he is making an appearance on Trivia before
- 0:41Speaker 1: he appears on the regular podcast because of some scheduling things.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So Brendan give folks a preview of that episode of
- 0:48Speaker 1: meat Eater by telling us about yourself.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Thanks Spencer.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Brendan Rundy marine scientist with the Nature Conservancy, which is
- 0:55Speaker 3: the world's largest environmental non governmental organization. HI study a
- 1:00Speaker 3: lot of things related to fish, but mostly what we
- 1:02Speaker 3: talked about in the conversation that just concluded is offshore
- 1:06Speaker 3: wind and fish and all of the various facets thereof.
- 1:12Speaker 1: And Brendan is quite competitive. He asked about playing trivia
- 1:16Speaker 1: when he was invited to be a guest on the
- 1:18Speaker 1: regular show. So I assume you're confident. You think you'll
- 1:20Speaker 1: do okay.
- 1:21Speaker 3: I don't think I'm gonna win. I think I'll do okay.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I might hang okay.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:24Speaker 1: He did ask Steve before we recorded if Steve was
- 1:27Speaker 1: going to be on this episode, because he said it
- 1:29Speaker 1: wouldn't feel like a win if he were to take
- 1:31Speaker 1: the victory with Steve not being here.
- 1:33Speaker 4: So just a guess here, you know, spend a couple
- 1:36Speaker 4: of minutes with all round. Tnc kind of strikes me,
- 1:44Speaker 4: kind of strikes me as the type of guy who's
- 1:46Speaker 4: gonna get like tied up.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:48Speaker 4: It's like, oh, everybody's got six points and he's just
- 1:50Speaker 4: gonna crack right there. Okay, choke, yeah, pressure Gay.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The room is confident. Now. Each week here on Trivia,
- 2:01Speaker 1: we reveal a new stat for the stat of the Week.
- 2:03Speaker 1: This week, we're updating our total wins counter. At the
- 2:06Speaker 1: top of the leader board is Brody with thirty wins.
- 2:09Speaker 1: That's followed by Steve with twenty one, Jannis with thirteen,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Randall with eleven, Cat with five, Clay with four, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: Seth with three. Brody, Steve, Jannis, and Randall are responsible
- 2:20Speaker 1: for seventy five percent of all the meat eater trivia wins. Brendan.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Maybe need to break that up today and get a
- 2:27Speaker 1: victory so that all the heavy hitters are in the room.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Love too, Yeah, see what you can do. Now. Here's
- 2:32Speaker 1: our Infrequently Asked Question segment. If you have a trivia
- 2:35Speaker 1: related question for our crew, send it to Trivia at
- 2:38Speaker 1: the Mediator dot com with the subject line I FAQ.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Carl Soresby wants to know what do you think is
- 2:44Speaker 1: the worst question you've ever asked? Maybe our players could
- 2:47Speaker 1: answer that, Steve, what do you think is like the
- 2:49Speaker 1: worst question that I've ever asked? Well? Phil, Phil came
- 2:52Speaker 1: to the mic very quickly.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Oh, I'm coming to the mic to tell Steve to
- 2:55Speaker 2: go to his mic.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Oh okay, Uh, I've.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Since proven you wrong about it too, but I haven't
- 3:02Speaker 5: brought it up. This is your stupid thing about symbiosis.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You proved me wrong. When did you prove me wrong?
- 3:08Speaker 1: It must not have been here.
- 3:09Speaker 6: When a dude sent me an email proven you wrong.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Now you're wrong.
- 3:12Speaker 1: About that, Steve. I hate to tell you wrong about it.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Plus Plus you can't argue when I'm saying the Encyclopedia
- 3:18Speaker 1: Britannica gives this definition. You're saying that I like this.
- 3:22Speaker 6: I could say to you. I could say to you,
- 3:25Speaker 6: according to the National Earth Society, the Earth is flat.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Okay it was a goofy Flat Earth website.
- 3:39Speaker 1: That would be a correct answer. Then they'd be like, uh,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I won't get into what you came to your mic.
- 3:46Speaker 3: The definition of mutualism is commonly held. That's the way
- 3:49Speaker 3: Spencer described it.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, there we go to answer the question what the
- 3:52Speaker 1: worst question I've ever asked? If you come to mind,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I've gone to the edge of our universe and probably
- 3:57Speaker 1: too far beyond with some of the cooking questions once
- 3:59Speaker 1: had should about what the two ingredients are and fry sauce.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I don't feel great about that question. Struggling from the
- 4:05Speaker 1: board game that didn't make it in there. That's the
- 4:07Speaker 1: question about like ranking the most popular onion colors in
- 4:11Speaker 1: terms of like what's grown. Yeah, don't feel like that one.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Don't feel good about that one. One. That one that
- 4:18Speaker 1: hung with me is when I asked a question about
- 4:21Speaker 1: I declared it the worst hunting song of all time,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and it was Luke Bryan's drinking beer and shooting waisting bullets.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Felt that well, he got bullied on YouTube about it,
- 4:30Speaker 1: kind of bad. I saw the comments got deleted, so
- 4:33Speaker 1: you know, I'm like, who am I to tell Luke
- 4:34Speaker 1: Bryan that that his music suns but.
- 4:37Speaker 4: You're saying that he's paying attention to you.
- 4:40Speaker 1: No, no, not him, the people, the people uploaded the video.
- 4:43Speaker 1: And then the comment is, Who're like, I came here
- 4:45Speaker 1: from mediator trivia. This song is.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Yeah, it means fun until someone's feelings get hurt.
- 4:50Speaker 7: Nashville. Nashville is watching every week to see who catches
- 4:53Speaker 7: a straight from.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Sir.
- 4:57Speaker 8: Listen, my deats are on.
- 4:59Speaker 2: You can DM me.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I have no idea who we are. The people who
- 5:03Speaker 1: upload his videos to YouTube, they were aware for a
- 5:06Speaker 1: minute of us Spencer.
- 5:08Speaker 9: You didn't bring up any of the dumb TV questions.
- 5:12Speaker 9: Dumb related some show that's forty years old.
- 5:16Speaker 6: That like, No, I think those only kind of shows
- 5:19Speaker 6: I know about. Yeah, what about that?
- 5:20Speaker 1: Perfectly fine?
- 5:21Speaker 3: What about that Hemingway question with the mistaken Billfish identities?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean, well, like I came the following episode,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I came back. I was like, ah, yeah, Brody, I'll
- 5:30Speaker 1: give it to you.
- 5:30Speaker 9: I was wrong, well, yeah, because I mean we were right.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I worked myself into a pretzel. I don't think I
- 5:36Speaker 1: was wrong about it. I just I could have used
- 5:39Speaker 1: better judgment about it, and I've just been blatant.
- 5:42Speaker 9: I feel like the dumb questions are very few and
- 5:46Speaker 9: far between them.
- 5:47Speaker 7: I wish I would have known that this was the
- 5:49Speaker 7: if A Q of the day, I would have prepared
- 5:51Speaker 7: ahead of time and come with a list.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Yeah, now we'll get to our housekeeping. On a recent
- 5:55Speaker 1: episode of Trivia, we had a question about America's hottest
- 5:58Speaker 1: taco trend in twenty two. The correct answer was a
- 6:01Speaker 1: word spelled b I R R I A. And I'm
- 6:05Speaker 1: spelling that word because apparently me and the rest of
- 6:07Speaker 1: the room butchered its pronunciation, which enraged a lot of
- 6:10Speaker 1: emailers and commenters. So we're going to correct that today
- 6:13Speaker 1: and Phil is going to bring the Latin flavor by
- 6:16Speaker 1: nailing this pronunciation.
- 6:18Speaker 10: Take it away, Phil, Yeah, that's what people turn to
- 6:20Speaker 10: me for, is Latin flavor, which is why how I
- 6:22Speaker 10: will say, Bria roll that out of there.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Briat, Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 1: You think is that satisfying?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Bria?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Very good?
- 6:31Speaker 8: That's oh?
- 6:34Speaker 3: Was it?
- 6:34Speaker 8: It was good?
- 6:35Speaker 7: Steve made it.
- 6:36Speaker 6: I made it with buffalo cheeks.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Say it for say that word.
- 6:39Speaker 8: I see both of you aren't choosing to say it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Okay, send your hate mail to Steve if you didn't
- 6:47Speaker 1: like that. Now, the Shelby index for today's round is
- 6:50Speaker 1: a four, so our winner should get eight correct answers.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And with that we're onto the game of trivia. Play
- 6:56Speaker 1: the drop, Phil, Look, I need to know what I
- 7:02Speaker 1: stand to win everything? How's that?
- 7:06Speaker 6: Just tend to win everything? Just?
- 7:13Speaker 9: This must be nerves?
- 7:16Speaker 1: Question one. The topic is hunting, and this first great
- 7:20Speaker 1: question is via Robert Galinado. Brody's not going to like
- 7:23Speaker 1: this because it is related to media. What kind of
- 7:27Speaker 1: coonhounds does Billy own in where the red fern grows?
- 7:30Speaker 1: This is multiple choice? Are they blue tick plot, redbone
- 7:35Speaker 1: or treeing walker? The topic is hunting. What kind of
- 7:41Speaker 1: coonhounds does Billy own in where the red fern grows?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Blue tick plot, redbone? Treeing walker? Who's confident in this room? Okay?
- 7:53Speaker 1: Cal cal is the Caleni Kalaniani think they have this
- 7:58Speaker 1: one right?
- 7:58Speaker 6: Hunter Spencer just made a movie poster.
- 8:01Speaker 5: We have this idea. It's a very inside joke, but
- 8:03Speaker 5: a TV show called Dog Justice, where like, if your
- 8:06Speaker 5: dog breaks a rule, there's a guy that exact justice.
- 8:10Speaker 8: On the dog, on the dog or on the owner, No,
- 8:13Speaker 8: on the dog.
- 8:14Speaker 1: What would be an example of jo You catch a
- 8:16Speaker 1: dog in a leash area without off his leash, so
- 8:20Speaker 1: the dog justice guy shows up and kills dog.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Okay, anyhow they made Hunter Spencer made a poster for
- 8:27Speaker 5: the show where it's the it's the guy, it's the
- 8:31Speaker 5: cutout from like the Redfern girls.
- 8:36Speaker 6: He's old yeller. That's he's got to kill his dog.
- 8:39Speaker 5: And it says dog justice that dog don't hunt well,
- 8:43Speaker 5: at least not anymore.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I like off leash area dogs.
- 8:50Speaker 6: The unleashed dog gets shot.
- 8:52Speaker 4: That kind of implies that every sentence is a death sentence.
- 8:58Speaker 8: I keep hearing how Hunter Spencer is so bad.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Yeah, but when you're like at home sleeping or something
- 9:05Speaker 5: is his it's not only his bit.
- 9:07Speaker 6: He just wakes up and makes something like that.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Oh, just for funzies's a reminder. Wrong question one? What
- 9:13Speaker 1: kind of coonhounds is his billy on? And where the
- 9:15Speaker 1: red fern grows? Blue tick plot, redbone, treeing walker. Is
- 9:19Speaker 1: everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 9:23Speaker 1: Brandon sang redbone, Yanni sang redbone, Cal sang upside down Redbone,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Randall and Corey sang redbone. Brody sang treeing Walker. He
- 9:32Speaker 1: crossed out plot, Danielle saying what's that say? Danielle sang
- 9:36Speaker 1: red bone, Steve saying redbone. They got it. The correct
- 9:40Speaker 1: answer is redbone. Red bones are an American breed that
- 9:44Speaker 1: took form a few decades before the Civil War. They
- 9:47Speaker 1: were bred by hunters who were successful at tracking gray
- 9:50Speaker 1: foxes but always failed at tracking red foxes. They said
- 9:54Speaker 1: red foxes were quicker and more wily, and that their
- 9:57Speaker 1: current coonhounds couldn't keep up, so they started it's selectively
- 10:00Speaker 1: breeding foxhounds to create a courageous dog with superior tracking
- 10:05Speaker 1: and treeing abilities, which was the foundation stock of the redbone.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Who's hunted around the redbone in here? Johanny? Do you
- 10:13Speaker 1: know any any dog owners in your network have a redbone?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Oh?
- 10:17Speaker 11: Boy, if I know of some, but I've never hunted
- 10:25Speaker 11: them with them.
- 10:26Speaker 1: We're on the question two. The topic is cooking a
- 10:30Speaker 1: burger named after this state is often topped with lettuce, tomato, onion,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and avocado or guacamole. It's okay, he's ready, He's up
- 10:42Speaker 1: to question two.
- 10:43Speaker 11: There.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Everyone got that last one, right, Phil, except for Brody
- 10:47Speaker 1: if he needed that reminder. This is question too. The
- 10:49Speaker 1: topic is cooking. A burger named after this state is
- 10:52Speaker 1: often topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado or guacamole.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Danielle is confident, Danielle, do you have this one right?
- 10:59Speaker 8: Sure?
- 11:02Speaker 1: Steve? You think you know this one? You're just guessing
- 11:05Speaker 1: for certain.
- 11:06Speaker 6: I'm not certain, but I got a good feeling.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Lettuce, tomato, onion, and avocado or guacamole.
- 11:12Speaker 3: If it said city, it would have to be Chicago,
- 11:15Speaker 3: because they're.
- 11:20Speaker 1: That Jimmy state of Margueriteville. What we're going with. Burger
- 11:25Speaker 1: named for this state is often topped with lettuce, tomato, onion,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and avocado or guacamole. The room looks stumped.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Can you stop saying avocado?
- 11:35Speaker 1: How would you like to say it?
- 11:38Speaker 9: Ah from Mexico? Remember that?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Do you remember?
- 11:44Speaker 12: That?
- 11:44Speaker 1: Is? Everybody ready? Cory? You have this one right? Randall,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you have this one right.
- 11:50Speaker 7: I've never heard a burger called my answer, but I
- 11:54Speaker 7: don't have a better guess.
- 11:55Speaker 1: As a reminder, Randall is a hot dog offician, but
- 12:00Speaker 1: maybe not a burger Officionado.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Oh, I love burgers just.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Because like I like a standard burger.
- 12:06Speaker 3: You ever put a hot dog on your.
- 12:07Speaker 9: Ba Like every restaurant has like ten different names for the.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Brennan saying California, Yanni's
- 12:16Speaker 1: saying Canada, Oh no, California. Cal say in California, Randa
- 12:20Speaker 1: saying California. Cory saying California. Everybody said California. Everybody got
- 12:23Speaker 1: it right.
- 12:24Speaker 6: Got real softballs?
- 12:26Speaker 1: This California I have never heard of burger. The California
- 12:31Speaker 1: Burger earned this name because ninety percent of the country's
- 12:34Speaker 1: avocados are grown in the state. Burger King even joined
- 12:38Speaker 1: the trend in twenty eleven by creating the California Whopper,
- 12:42Speaker 1: which came with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guak, Swiss cheese, and bacon.
- 12:46Speaker 1: If you want to learn how to make a California
- 12:48Speaker 1: burger with a twist, then go to the medieater dot
- 12:50Speaker 1: com and check out our recipe called California Wild Turkey Burger.
- 12:54Speaker 5: If you want to learn how to make a California
- 12:56Speaker 5: burger go to some avocado on top of it.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Question three. Question three, the topic is conservation. The catastrophic
- 13:04Speaker 1: twenty ten golf Coast oil spill was named after this
- 13:08Speaker 1: specific rig that was being leased by BP. Danielle or
- 13:17Speaker 1: Texan in the room trying to.
- 13:19Speaker 3: See if she came up on the modle for this.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The catastrophic twenty ten golf Coast oil spill was named
- 13:28Speaker 1: after this specific rig that was being leased by BPS.
- 13:35Speaker 5: In that little position over there, man, he's either praying
- 13:38Speaker 5: or sweating.
- 13:40Speaker 7: It's also the name of a Mark Wahlberg.
- 13:42Speaker 8: I was going to say it he worked on the rig.
- 13:45Speaker 6: If that gives it away, shut up, save it for
- 13:51Speaker 6: his tidbit.
- 13:52Speaker 9: I can't think when people.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Are The catastrophic twenty ten golf Coast oil spill was
- 14:01Speaker 1: named after this specific rig that was being leased by BP.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Steve thinks he has it, Brandon, course, he has bone.
- 14:11Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yeah, his bone. It's your bone, yeah, Brendon, what do
- 14:16Speaker 1: you remember about that without saying the name of this place, Well,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I remember the.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Name day after day of CNN showing that stuff gushing
- 14:26Speaker 3: into the water, and that a lot of I will
- 14:27Speaker 3: say not that anybody wants this to happen again, but
- 14:30Speaker 3: a lot of conservation money came from that.
- 14:33Speaker 6: A lot of good people spoils did.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Is there a scenario where a turbine could have some
- 14:40Speaker 1: like doomsday scenario like that? No, no, okay, it's everybody ready, Brody.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Well, like the turbine tips over and a buttler oil
- 14:50Speaker 4: comes ripping out of surprise because it's as a whole
- 14:56Speaker 4: flock of whales.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Drop up a whole pod.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Is everybody ready?
- 15:03Speaker 11: No, I'm not. I know it's gonna come to me
- 15:05Speaker 11: in the next ten seconds.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Keep talking, let's go, let's go.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You got you boys, give up, Go ahead and reveal
- 15:13Speaker 1: your answers. We have Brandon saying deep water horizons, Johanni
- 15:17Speaker 1: without an answer, Cal saying nineteen oh.
- 15:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it's the nineteenth a little bit.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Wrong, saying deep water horizon, Corey without an answer, Brody
- 15:26Speaker 1: without an answer, Danielle saying deep water horizon, Steve saying
- 15:30Speaker 1: blue horizon. The correct answer is deep water, So can
- 15:34Speaker 1: you give it to me? I'm not giving it to.
- 15:36Speaker 6: Steve, blue horizon.
- 15:38Speaker 1: This is a you don't get the deep water horizon.
- 15:45Speaker 6: I would be arguing for it. I'd be like, that's
- 15:48Speaker 6: just wrong.
- 15:49Speaker 1: The deep Water Horizon rig was built in South Korea
- 15:52Speaker 1: in two thousand and one and was owned by Transocean
- 15:56Speaker 1: and operated by BP. A judge ruled that BP was
- 16:00Speaker 1: given sixty seven percent of the blame for the oil spill,
- 16:03Speaker 1: while Transocean was assigned thirty percent and Haliburton was assigned
- 16:07Speaker 1: three percent. Haliburton was the company who provided the cement
- 16:11Speaker 1: intended to seal the well, which failed and caused the
- 16:14Speaker 1: explosion that started the crisis.
- 16:16Speaker 4: You remember when Mark Wahlberg jumped off that thing.
- 16:20Speaker 1: So this is a book about the movie, okay? And
- 16:24Speaker 1: is it related to the deepens?
- 16:27Speaker 8: The movie Titanic?
- 16:28Speaker 6: About the Titanic.
- 16:29Speaker 2: It's just.
- 16:32Speaker 6: That's the title of the movie. Is the title of
- 16:33Speaker 6: the event that this? But what's it about? It's about
- 16:37Speaker 6: deep Water Horizon.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Does he die?
- 16:40Speaker 11: It's about the explosion? Okay? Else?
- 16:44Speaker 1: Because ten people know eleven people died in the explosion?
- 16:47Speaker 1: Was I don't? I don't have seen it?
- 16:49Speaker 6: You have that question?
- 16:51Speaker 1: For the topic is biology? This five letter word is
- 16:55Speaker 1: the name for the bony scales found on alligators and sturgeon.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Steve and Brendan and Brodie and Cal are confident has
- 17:06Speaker 1: telling everybody how many letters has got? This five letter
- 17:08Speaker 1: word is the name for the bony scales found on
- 17:11Speaker 1: alligators and sturgeon.
- 17:14Speaker 11: Because switch spots with Danielle, what is going on with
- 17:19Speaker 11: the camera over?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Steve came in and punted it and Spencer, can I
- 17:25Speaker 1: ask you?
- 17:27Speaker 6: I got a question? Is this a plural?
- 17:29Speaker 3: Same question singular?
- 17:31Speaker 1: I don't think I'm gonna give you any further hand.
- 17:33Speaker 9: Don't answer that the way this word?
- 17:36Speaker 6: Yeah can remember about his dumbest stuff.
- 17:40Speaker 7: This could write it would be a word for I
- 17:44Speaker 7: read it as a word for scales, so the scale
- 17:49Speaker 7: would need to end in an S.
- 17:50Speaker 6: I would question one.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Boney scale found on alligators.
- 17:57Speaker 9: I still know the answer.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I still don't know if my answer is correct, but
- 18:00Speaker 1: I haven't providing a slight hint. I'm not gonna give
- 18:04Speaker 1: you any more information, Uh, Danielle. Five letter word rand.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Would be.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Wow. Cal is changing his answer. He was one of
- 18:17Speaker 1: the first to come up with an answer. Yanni is
- 18:20Speaker 1: still stumped. Yanni, has all this banter helped you at all?
- 18:24Speaker 8: Not really?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, it's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 18:34Speaker 1: We have Brandan saying scoot, Yanni saying armor, cal saying scoot,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Randall saying plate, Cory saying scoot, Brody saying scoot, Danielle
- 18:44Speaker 1: saying armor, Steve saying scoot. The correct answer is scoot.
- 18:48Speaker 5: Does Cory still get it even though he put those
- 18:50Speaker 5: little Hangman markers underneath?
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think we'll give it to him.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I'm disappointed.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Five rows of scoots that I run the length of
- 19:00Speaker 1: their body. They act as armor and protect the fish
- 19:03Speaker 1: when they're young and vulnerable. Some other fish with scoots
- 19:06Speaker 1: are pine cone fish, herring, and jacks.
- 19:10Speaker 8: No one's counting, but I think that's two bones for rended.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Well.
- 19:18Speaker 1: So Kuran first described me that we're having a fish
- 19:21Speaker 1: biologist on the show, so I wrote this question, and
- 19:24Speaker 1: then I later learned that you're a marine biologist, uh
- 19:27Speaker 1: with an emphasis on clean energy, which is how we
- 19:30Speaker 1: got to the deep water horizon. So I wouldn't consider
- 19:32Speaker 1: the scout question of the bone.
- 19:33Speaker 6: It's like a plate of bones.
- 19:34Speaker 1: He's getting thrown question five the time.
- 19:38Speaker 6: He's thrown like a museum specimen.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Fly Fisherman magazine declared this large terrestrial which looks like
- 19:47Speaker 1: it crawled out of a nuclear disaster one of the
- 19:50Speaker 1: greatest flies of all time. Fly Fisherman magazine declared this
- 19:57Speaker 1: large terrestrial, which looks like it crawled out of a
- 20:00Speaker 1: nuclear disaster, one of the greatest flies of all time.
- 20:07Speaker 12: When you say terrestrials gearing up, well, you're gonna have
- 20:14Speaker 12: to argue with the Fly Fisherman Magazine list if you
- 20:17Speaker 12: don't like If your answer isn't the same is my answer,
- 20:21Speaker 12: So I would to them.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Corey has it right. He's handing out hints. He says
- 20:27Speaker 1: he catches a lot of cuddies on this one.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Yeah, they like popcorn.
- 20:34Speaker 1: You have this one right, Randall? Do you have this
- 20:39Speaker 1: one right? I believe so, large terrestrial which looks like
- 20:44Speaker 1: it crawl out of a nuclear disaster, one of the
- 20:46Speaker 1: greatest flies of all time. This is question five.
- 20:52Speaker 4: This is like how many times have they done this list?
- 20:54Speaker 4: This is a great reason as to why sending your
- 20:56Speaker 4: questions are stupid? Right, okay, cal I would encourage you
- 20:59Speaker 4: to come what's the most popular means of transportation?
- 21:05Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 21:06Speaker 8: It was the nineteen thirty nine issue.
- 21:08Speaker 6: Of pop Outside because he named this one of the
- 21:12Speaker 6: best mountain towns.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It's like that's a question. Ever, it's everybody ready. You
- 21:20Speaker 1: should like this question, because Brendan seems like he's going
- 21:24Speaker 1: to get it wrong, and I think the game this
- 21:27Speaker 1: funest Johanny, go ahead and don't show your answers yet.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 21:33Speaker 1: have Brendan saying helgermide Yanni's saying chernobyl ant, cal saying
- 21:37Speaker 1: chernobyl Ant, Randall saying chernobyl Ant, Corey saying chernobyl Ant,
- 21:41Speaker 1: Brody saying chernobyl Ant, Danielle without an answer, Steve without
- 21:46Speaker 1: an answer.
- 21:46Speaker 6: No, I got an answer. I'm not showing it to you, Okay.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I don't imagine that was show his answer. The correct
- 21:57Speaker 1: answer is the chubby chernobyl. But I think we'll give
- 22:00Speaker 1: it to you.
- 22:03Speaker 9: So many different kinds.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Is a variation.
- 22:07Speaker 5: No way you're gonna give and not give me blue horizon.
- 22:11Speaker 5: There is They got one word right, I got one
- 22:14Speaker 5: word right. There's two words in the answer. They got one,
- 22:16Speaker 5: I got one.
- 22:17Speaker 7: This would be an unanswerable question if you didn't give
- 22:19Speaker 7: us some leeway. I feel unless we all had read
- 22:22Speaker 7: this particularly dude, I am taking that point.
- 22:25Speaker 1: If you do this, Steve is not getting a point
- 22:28Speaker 1: regardless of how we land out. And what do you think?
- 22:31Speaker 1: What do you what do you think? Should they get it?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Seeing that's how I got it wrong. But Steve had
- 22:39Speaker 3: a real consensus.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Amongst the fly anglers.
- 22:43Speaker 9: The former fly fishing guides all had the same answer.
- 22:47Speaker 5: Chubby chernobyl and chernobyl ant is farther apart than deep
- 22:51Speaker 5: water and blue horizon.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Let me read you, let me read you my flavor text.
- 22:56Speaker 1: The chubby chernobyl is a descendant of the chernobyl ant,
- 22:59Speaker 1: which was created on Utah's Green River in nineteen ninety one.
- 23:02Speaker 1: The chubby chernobyl was born about a decade later when
- 23:05Speaker 1: some fly tires in Portland added a flashtail and wings
- 23:08Speaker 1: to the ant, which they originally referred to as fat bastard.
- 23:12Speaker 1: The fly has been described as a guide's dream because
- 23:15Speaker 1: even the most blind clients can see a chubby chernobyl
- 23:18Speaker 1: floating on the surface.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Horse on your board, Steve, did you write y blank?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Blank blank? No, I'm starting to come around to not
- 23:27Speaker 1: giving it to you, guys, Corey, what would you do
- 23:31Speaker 1: you mean? It's they're all the same thing, whether it's
- 23:35Speaker 1: an ant or a hopper a beetle you if you
- 23:39Speaker 1: told me to now that flies figuring out.
- 23:44Speaker 5: If you put something super far in the deep water
- 23:48Speaker 5: and you look from far away, it looks bluish.
- 23:52Speaker 6: Because it's out so deep.
- 23:54Speaker 1: If you told me to hand you a chubby chernobyl
- 23:56Speaker 1: and I handed you a chernobyl ant, would you say
- 23:59Speaker 1: no that you handed me the chernobyl land that's the
- 24:01Speaker 1: same thing. You wouldn't I wouldn't be distinguished. Get answer,
- 24:10Speaker 1: Do not get the point. Nobody got that one right.
- 24:17Speaker 3: It's not a big deal, dude.
- 24:18Speaker 4: I knew you were gonna.
- 24:19Speaker 6: Yeah, Johnnie off the bad get into a quagmire like Vietnam.
- 24:27Speaker 1: They're not the same man. We've declared, we're happy trivia.
- 24:31Speaker 1: If I just written chernoble, no, that's right, give us
- 24:36Speaker 1: a leader. If just wrote I'm telling you, what would
- 24:41Speaker 1: have happened? You would have been wrong.
- 24:43Speaker 4: All that seems, I know, But this is the fun
- 24:47Speaker 4: part of the whole.
- 24:48Speaker 8: According to Field and Stream.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Fly Fisherman Magazine, Fly fisher so junk on the internet, Phil,
- 24:57Speaker 1: give us the scoreboard.
- 24:59Speaker 2: How are you doing today?
- 25:00Speaker 10: I actual want to apologize to the YouTube audience for
- 25:02Speaker 10: this episode has become quite chaotic. Also also Brendan, I'm sorry,
- 25:06Speaker 10: I don't I don't know why I feel they need
- 25:08Speaker 10: to say that. Oh yeah, Yannis Brody, They've got two points,
- 25:11Speaker 10: Steve Randall, Daniell, Corey, and Cal I'll have three points apiece,
- 25:15Speaker 10: and in first place our guest he's got four points.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Cal's right, though, I'm gonna crack here it comes.
- 25:22Speaker 7: That's why we needed the shared Noble.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Some esoteric Western national forest.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I was also trying to guide you to the right
- 25:30Speaker 1: answer by saying a large terrestrial.
- 25:34Speaker 9: The chubby Nobles are large terrestrial chubby.
- 25:37Speaker 1: The chubby is bigger though Question six, Actually not, it's not.
- 25:42Speaker 8: We're just telling you it's not, but that.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It has it has the wings in the flashtail that
- 25:45Speaker 1: make it bigger, right, so does it makes it look.
- 25:48Speaker 8: Different, But it's definitely not bigger.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Size is on the fly fishing scale.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Question six.
- 25:52Speaker 8: You know how hooks go like ten, twelve, fourteen?
- 25:55Speaker 1: Question six, It's okay to be wrong.
- 25:58Speaker 6: Everybody was wrong. Question six.
- 26:09Speaker 1: The topic is conservation, which Federal Department directly oversees the
- 26:14Speaker 1: United States Forest Service, Which Federal Department directly oversees the
- 26:22Speaker 1: United States Forest Service, which water bottle. Is that what's
- 26:26Speaker 1: that mean?
- 26:27Speaker 8: That's mine?
- 26:27Speaker 6: What does that mean?
- 26:28Speaker 8: I'll explain to you just secondly, I mean right.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Water bottle, says Kip Kills. I don't have even a
- 26:35Speaker 1: guess as to what that would mean. Yanni's trying to
- 26:38Speaker 1: come up with the answer for.
- 26:39Speaker 6: The federal part of the heavy arrow lifestyle.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Which federal department directly oversees the United States Forest Service.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yanni is stumped. The rest of the room is they
- 26:58Speaker 1: look content with their answers.
- 27:00Speaker 6: He looks a little stumped me.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Oh, does he okay? Brandon, Oh, he's just sitting on
- 27:03Speaker 1: his pile of bones.
- 27:04Speaker 2: The departments.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Just to make sure everybody ready.
- 27:08Speaker 11: There's a there was a I don't know where the
- 27:11Speaker 11: saying came from, but back in like the eighties early nineties,
- 27:14Speaker 11: he say crack Kills Kills about this guy is a
- 27:18Speaker 11: rap song.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Uh.
- 27:20Speaker 8: Kip Emily KiB is a coach down there at.
- 27:23Speaker 11: The Mountain Projects Gym I like to go to, and
- 27:27Speaker 11: somebody just decided to make stickers that say, said Kip Kills.
- 27:31Speaker 11: Because it can be a tough class sometimes that she teaches.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Danielle, are you ready.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Keep going?
- 27:39Speaker 11: Let her go?
- 27:41Speaker 5: She's getting there.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Danielle has three correct answers right now, so she
- 27:46Speaker 1: is uh squarely and squarely we want her to keep
- 27:52Speaker 1: everybody ready. Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 27:56Speaker 1: Brandon Sang Interior, Johnny Sang Interior, col Sang USDA, Randall
- 28:02Speaker 1: Sang Department of Agriculture, Corey Sang Department of Agriculture, Brody
- 28:06Speaker 1: saying Department of Interior, Danielle saying Department of Interior, Steve
- 28:11Speaker 1: saying USDA. The correct answer is the United States Department
- 28:16Speaker 1: of Agriculture. About half of you got that right. The
- 28:24Speaker 1: concept of national forests came from Teddy Roosevelt and the
- 28:28Speaker 1: Boone and Crocket Club. They said they witnessed game and
- 28:31Speaker 1: timber being mismanaged in Yellowstone National Park, so they felt
- 28:35Speaker 1: a forest reserve was needed that would have different regulations.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Thus the US Forest Service was created inside of the
- 28:42Speaker 1: Department of Egg instead of the Department of the Interior.
- 28:46Speaker 9: That's dumb.
- 28:47Speaker 6: That's a great question.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Makes sense to me.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Questions I have no joy from that RUNNC.
- 28:52Speaker 3: I got no joy from it either.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Question seven, the topic is woodsmanship. This next great question
- 28:58Speaker 1: comes to us via Brody Monroe. According to the CDC,
- 29:03Speaker 1: seven out of ten Americans who contract rabies were infected
- 29:06Speaker 1: by this animal. According to the CDC, seven out of
- 29:12Speaker 1: ten Americans who contract rabies were infected by this animal.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Cal's not gonna like this question because it's via the CDC,
- 29:19Speaker 1: So we assigned the answer to somebody like Fly Fisherman
- 29:23Speaker 1: Magazine'd say, well, no, you know, how do we know?
- 29:30Speaker 6: According to the CDC, I guess we'll never know.
- 29:34Speaker 1: According to the CDC, seven out of ten Americans who
- 29:38Speaker 1: can track rabies were infected by this.
- 29:41Speaker 3: You're thinking on a totally different level.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Spencer that not giving you any hints. Steve has two
- 29:47Speaker 1: answers written down. You could show the camera here. You
- 29:50Speaker 1: could show the audience what you're thinking. Does that.
- 29:54Speaker 2: He answer.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Is everybody? No, everybody's now. Let me take a look
- 30:01Speaker 1: how specific here. If you thought the answer was a
- 30:06Speaker 1: channel catfish, you could just say catfish.
- 30:09Speaker 3: Noble ant wouldn't cut it right now.
- 30:11Speaker 1: According to the CDC, seven out of ten Americans.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Or superpowers see if it works this day?
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yoanni, how we doing over there? I think we're waiting
- 30:27Speaker 1: on you.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Oh we are, no, let we can go.
- 30:30Speaker 1: How many Americans contract rabies every year? I think it's
- 30:33Speaker 1: like twenty five.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Just these ten.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Oh interesting, not very many, or maybe it's twenty five
- 30:37Speaker 1: for die. I remember everybody right, you know.
- 30:39Speaker 5: One year the CDC, uh, there's only like seven CDC
- 30:43Speaker 5: cases of a certain disease, and we had four of.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Them our little group. Oh what are you gonna tell
- 30:50Speaker 1: us what it was?
- 30:51Speaker 6: When we had trick Nelson's, we were like four out
- 30:53Speaker 6: of the country.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have
- 30:59Speaker 1: Brendan saying raccoon, Yanni saying bet, Randall saying dog, Cory
- 31:06Speaker 1: saying domestic dog, Brody's saying bet, Danielle saying dog, Steve
- 31:11Speaker 1: saying bet he erased dog. The correct answer is bat.
- 31:17Speaker 1: A few of you got it right.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Coming bang hard? How many people.
- 31:26Speaker 1: People get?
- 31:28Speaker 6: Let me tell you a funny story about bats. I
- 31:30Speaker 6: got a buddy, uh.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Oh, got a buddy gets bat in his house, okay,
- 31:35Speaker 5: And he goes to catch it in the net. And
- 31:37Speaker 5: as he's fiddling fiddling with the bat in the net,
- 31:40Speaker 5: the bat scratches him with its toenail, and he says,
- 31:45Speaker 5: in the back of my head, I'm thinking something about rabies,
- 31:50Speaker 5: And sure enough, no, it got into his house and
- 31:57Speaker 5: he like got scratched by its toenail and had to
- 32:01Speaker 5: go through all the treatment.
- 32:02Speaker 1: My guess would be a lot of people come in
- 32:03Speaker 1: contact with them or like trying to get them out
- 32:05Speaker 1: of their garage or trying to get them out of
- 32:06Speaker 1: their fireplace or something like that.
- 32:08Speaker 4: There was like almost out in Montana where somebody brought
- 32:15Speaker 4: a bat in, like a kid brought a bat in
- 32:18Speaker 4: for show and tell at the grade school in Stevensville
- 32:21Speaker 4: or middle school in Stevensville, Montana, to be like, yeah,
- 32:24Speaker 4: check this out, this is super cool, which it is,
- 32:27Speaker 4: but that bat somebody decided to test.
- 32:30Speaker 2: That bat for rabies and it had rabi.
- 32:32Speaker 6: So the whole the whole class had According to.
- 32:35Speaker 5: This game right now is like a it's like a
- 32:37Speaker 5: movie where like picture that's you're watching a movie about
- 32:41Speaker 5: like a little kid's sports team or something and they
- 32:43Speaker 5: in the and they get like screwed by the raft
- 32:46Speaker 5: or something.
- 32:47Speaker 6: But then in the end they win like the championship.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Right there.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Yeah that's like me right now.
- 32:52Speaker 8: Yeah what sound mean at the crowd, it would be
- 32:55Speaker 8: behind you and cheering for you.
- 32:58Speaker 6: I mean one of the kids got to sing and.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Argue that it was a home run.
- 33:01Speaker 8: Right, No, No, that is not.
- 33:06Speaker 1: According to the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, there are
- 33:11Speaker 1: five thousand rabid animals reported in the US each year.
- 33:15Speaker 1: About ninety percent of those cases are wild animals, while
- 33:18Speaker 1: the other ten percent are domestic animals. Besides bats, the
- 33:22Speaker 1: most common carriers are raccoons, skunks, foxes, cats, dogs, and cattle.
- 33:27Speaker 6: Question eight.
- 33:28Speaker 1: The topic is hunting. Over forty five thousand people applied
- 33:32Speaker 1: to participate in a bison hunt at this National park
- 33:36Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one. The topic is hunting. Over forty
- 33:43Speaker 1: five thousand people applied to participate in a bison hunt
- 33:47Speaker 1: at this national park in twenty twenty one. Nobody seems
- 33:53Speaker 1: to be super confident. I'm very confident, right, Randall has
- 33:58Speaker 1: this one?
- 33:59Speaker 5: Right?
- 34:00Speaker 1: Brody looks like he might have it. Cow?
- 34:02Speaker 6: Do you have myself?
- 34:04Speaker 9: Because I'm like, I know where it is.
- 34:06Speaker 3: But I.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Want to talk about this one. But see's gonna get
- 34:11Speaker 4: real angry. Okay, I'm gonna hold I'm gonna abstain.
- 34:13Speaker 1: No banter from cow. But do you have it?
- 34:15Speaker 6: Right?
- 34:18Speaker 1: Forty five thousand people applied to participate in a bison
- 34:22Speaker 1: hunt at this National park in twenty twenty one.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Oh, it's one of two. Oh, come on, what.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Did you see someone's whiteboard or what?
- 34:33Speaker 5: No, it just occurred to me, Oh, okay, hide the
- 34:38Speaker 5: plain sight inside my brain would occur to me.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Is everybody ready, No, dude.
- 34:46Speaker 6: I was off on such a weird little journey.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Okay, mmm, I.
- 34:53Speaker 9: Think I was off on a weird journey too, but
- 34:55Speaker 9: I'm hoping that.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Right into the course, it is. Everybody ready, go ahead
- 35:00Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have Brendan saying Yellowstone, Yanni
- 35:04Speaker 1: saying Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Cal saying Grand Canyon, Randall
- 35:10Speaker 1: saying Grand Canyon, Cordy saying Grand Teton. He's saying Grand Teton,
- 35:15Speaker 1: Danielle saying Yellowstone, Steve saying Grand Canyon. The correct answer
- 35:21Speaker 1: is Grand Canyon. I think we had Randall and Steve
- 35:26Speaker 1: and Cal get that right. Of those forty five thousand applicants,
- 35:30Speaker 1: of which I was one, only twelve were selected to
- 35:33Speaker 1: participate in the hunt, and of those twelve hunters, just
- 35:36Speaker 1: five killed a bison. The park hasn't sought volunteer hunters since,
- 35:40Speaker 1: but did say local tribes would start participating in the
- 35:43Speaker 1: hunts in twenty twenty three. The park's goal is to
- 35:46Speaker 1: reduce the bison herd from six hundred to less than
- 35:49Speaker 1: two hundred by twenty twenty five.
- 35:51Speaker 6: I think they're doing it on suspicious grounds. Explain them
- 35:58Speaker 6: feeding the whole, not j peer line of it as
- 36:01Speaker 6: part of the justification. I think it's some horseship.
- 36:04Speaker 1: But I don't think they're even supposed to be buison
- 36:05Speaker 1: there to begin with. On the North Rim, I don't
- 36:07Speaker 1: think even those are. They are like two percent candle,
- 36:11Speaker 1: which they don't qualify for BFALO until they're like seventy.
- 36:15Speaker 6: I think throwing that in is some horseshit.
- 36:18Speaker 1: You don't want them to be hunted at all, No.
- 36:20Speaker 6: I'm saying I think that's saying that they're not. What
- 36:23Speaker 6: they're doing is how long.
- 36:25Speaker 4: You got They tried to justify. They're trying to appease
- 36:29Speaker 4: a certain group of people by saying, oh, and here's
- 36:33Speaker 4: this additive information. Yeah, they're not genetically pure, which should
- 36:37Speaker 4: also justify the hunt instead of vilifying the Park Service.
- 36:41Speaker 5: I mean, if you're going to if you're gonna center
- 36:43Speaker 5: the debate around are they native wildlife or not? There's
- 36:46Speaker 5: some conflicting evidence, but to throw that little cattle intro
- 36:50Speaker 5: aggression thing into it is just misguided and misleading. It's
- 36:56Speaker 5: like you look at it, you know what you're looking
- 36:57Speaker 5: at It acts like what it is. It's like to
- 37:01Speaker 5: add this like little cattle thing. Somebody's run around like,
- 37:03Speaker 5: oh yeah, but they're hybrids.
- 37:05Speaker 9: Isn't I don't mean aren't all basically all wild bison.
- 37:08Speaker 6: Have some, not all most.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I also don't think, Steve, that the National Park Service
- 37:13Speaker 1: got too hung up on that when I when I
- 37:15Speaker 1: was looking on their website about this hunt, it was
- 37:16Speaker 1: like addressed in some FAQ that was way deep in
- 37:19Speaker 1: the website about like are these pure bison or bflow?
- 37:23Speaker 1: So I don't recall that like being a big talking
- 37:25Speaker 1: point for getting rid of them. I do you think
- 37:28Speaker 1: it was okay? I don't think so, I do.
- 37:34Speaker 9: Phil.
- 37:34Speaker 1: We have two questions left. Give us a leader board update.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Phil Giannis, Danielle, and Brody are no longer in the
- 37:42Speaker 2: running three points apiece, Corey and Brendan have four, Randall
- 37:49Speaker 2: has five points, and tied up in first place are
- 37:51Speaker 2: Cal and Steve six point.
- 37:54Speaker 9: Cal's been coming on strong lately.
- 37:56Speaker 6: Oh you want know something funny? You know Randall's got
- 37:58Speaker 6: like that, doctor and everything.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Never heard this before.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Did you notice did you know what's on the on
- 38:04Speaker 5: the archaeological like when I got my you know how
- 38:08Speaker 5: we participated in that archaeological study.
- 38:10Speaker 6: Did you see your document that came in.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I haven't looked at it closely, but I saw it.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Well, if you look at it close, you notice you're
- 38:15Speaker 5: gonna notice up top, doctor Spencer Newhart. Oh wow, okay,
- 38:21Speaker 5: even Seth. Now that supposed to be especially Seth.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Question nine. The topic is fishing. This fishing lure pattern
- 38:37Speaker 1: has shar true sides with an orange belly and dark
- 38:41Speaker 1: green back. This fishing lure pattern has shar true sides
- 38:47Speaker 1: with an orange belly and dark green back. Brodie, do
- 38:53Speaker 1: you okay? He's changing his mind, Randall? Do you have
- 38:55Speaker 1: this one right? Randall? Randall knows what it means? Uh.
- 39:01Speaker 1: He appears to have the correct answer. Yanni, do you
- 39:03Speaker 1: have this one right? I'm pretty sure this fishing lure
- 39:06Speaker 1: pattern has shar true sides with an orange belly and
- 39:10Speaker 1: dark green backes me, okay, Brody doesn't mean anything to you.
- 39:14Speaker 9: It means if it's what I think it is.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Your I can't say, oh wow, yeah, I truly don't
- 39:22Speaker 4: get it either, Like, is there a category that the
- 39:26Speaker 4: category is fishing.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that'll make this lure in any other color.
- 39:30Speaker 8: There's a lot of lures.
- 39:32Speaker 6: Lure that's only available on.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Fish doesn't have to be it's a coloration.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Coloration.
- 39:39Speaker 8: If it's okay to say coloration.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I mean you're you're helping out your like the purple
- 39:45Speaker 1: chest fish coloration would be orange with the grange belly.
- 39:51Speaker 7: And I don't know that we're going to get anywhere
- 39:52Speaker 7: with this.
- 39:53Speaker 1: You should probably just move on to the next question.
- 39:55Speaker 6: What's that?
- 39:57Speaker 9: I'm giving away too much? You had it right, Brody, Well,
- 40:00Speaker 9: I think I know where you're going. Okay, it's a
- 40:04Speaker 9: confusing way to word the question.
- 40:05Speaker 1: But I see what Okay, how would you.
- 40:09Speaker 6: What's that?
- 40:09Speaker 1: How would you work?
- 40:12Speaker 9: What is this color pattern called?
- 40:15Speaker 1: This fishing lure pattern has chartreuse sides, not fishing, orange
- 40:20Speaker 1: belly and dark green back. I think that's what you're
- 40:24Speaker 1: asking anyway, Corey thinks he has it's Steve is stumbling
- 40:29Speaker 1: a little.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Oh, it's just a piss poor question.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Okay, it's everybody ready, No, give me one more second here.
- 40:36Speaker 1: The topic is fishing.
- 40:38Speaker 6: Can I say orange and green.
- 40:41Speaker 1: You'd be wrong if you did.
- 40:44Speaker 4: It's dark green.
- 40:46Speaker 6: Sorry, that's why I'd be wrong.
- 40:48Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 40:54Speaker 1: have Brendan saying electric Yanni saying fire tiger. Count without
- 40:59Speaker 1: an an, It's Randall saying fire tiger. Corey sang tiger. Brody,
- 41:03Speaker 1: what's it say?
- 41:04Speaker 11: Brody?
- 41:04Speaker 1: Brody saying fire tiger, Danielle saying trifecta, Steve saying yellow perch.
- 41:09Speaker 9: But listen, I think you left out a crucial details.
- 41:13Speaker 9: Crucial You have black stripes, black perchy.
- 41:16Speaker 1: The correct answer is fire tiger.
- 41:20Speaker 9: How would you answer be like the stripes are like?
- 41:23Speaker 1: But how would your answer be different if it?
- 41:26Speaker 3: I don't think I it just leads people to tiger.
- 41:29Speaker 3: If you describe the stripes, because.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Now described to you how many words, or if I
- 41:34Speaker 1: told you how many letters it had in it, like
- 41:36Speaker 1: fire tighter has striped.
- 41:38Speaker 7: Brody, did you think it was obvious?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Based on the question, we got everybody to the correct answer.
- 41:43Speaker 7: If everybody had just gone, oh, I know it and
- 41:45Speaker 7: we moved on, would you have said that was a
- 41:47Speaker 7: shitty question.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Well, the way it's worded, boy a tough crowd.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Get the point.
- 41:54Speaker 1: He does not good enough because he didn't say fire.
- 41:57Speaker 1: He said no, he says tiger.
- 42:00Speaker 6: You said tiger, which happy because it's sposed, because it's
- 42:04Speaker 6: meant to look like a perch.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Little is known about the history of the fire tiger pattern.
- 42:10Speaker 1: The earliest reference of fire tiger I found is in
- 42:13Speaker 1: a nineteen seventy five rebel catalog that was advertising the
- 42:17Speaker 1: mini or crank bait, but I suspect it's much older
- 42:20Speaker 1: than that. It's a popular pattern among walleye and bass anglers,
- 42:23Speaker 1: and most closely mimics of perch, although there isn't much
- 42:26Speaker 1: in nature that looks like a fire tiger crank bait.
- 42:29Speaker 6: Do I get it for perch?
- 42:30Speaker 1: You do not get it right, Phil, We have one
- 42:32Speaker 1: question left.
- 42:33Speaker 6: Who was all tied up?
- 42:35Speaker 12: Game?
- 42:36Speaker 1: Want to be fair?
- 42:37Speaker 3: You guys were already I think that was a terrible
- 42:40Speaker 3: children's movie.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I think that was a perfect question. About half of
- 42:43Speaker 1: you got it right, and that's a good indicator. I
- 42:45Speaker 1: like the speciality question. It makes sense. I gotta build
- 42:48Speaker 1: myself up a little because you boys just tear me
- 42:51Speaker 1: down the whole time.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Well, I don't think that's the one that you should
- 42:54Speaker 4: be building yourself up on.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Scoreboard update. I've been very supportive. I I'd like you
- 43:00Speaker 1: to know except for the sher noble.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Cal Randall and Steve are tied up with six points.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Okay, that's it.
- 43:07Speaker 2: There's nobody with five. Nobody's got five.
- 43:09Speaker 8: I want to apologize to our guest here.
- 43:11Speaker 6: I thought he was going too, so that's why.
- 43:14Speaker 8: I came out.
- 43:14Speaker 10: I was.
- 43:15Speaker 2: I was in first.
- 43:16Speaker 3: The rules at the beginning gave you quick.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I deserved it.
- 43:19Speaker 1: That's brutal.
- 43:20Speaker 9: When you get your first few right, you think you're
- 43:22Speaker 9: just sail into victory.
- 43:23Speaker 6: He saw played his board horizontal.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Question tank A lot of people Question ten. The topic
- 43:31Speaker 1: is cooking. This last great question comes to his via
- 43:34Speaker 1: Ken Mitsui, named after a Swedish king. This style of
- 43:40Speaker 1: steak is served with crab meat, asparagus and butter sauce
- 43:43Speaker 1: on top of it. Brendan is quick to answer he
- 43:49Speaker 1: knows the answer. Named after a Swedish king, This style
- 43:53Speaker 1: of steak is served with crab meat, asparagus and butter
- 43:57Speaker 1: sauce on top of it.
- 43:58Speaker 2: God, I know this one.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Randall. Do you have this one? Right?
- 44:04Speaker 6: I do?
- 44:05Speaker 1: Okay, Who's who's left in the game.
- 44:08Speaker 2: It's Randall's Randal Stephen cow All have six points and
- 44:12Speaker 2: are vying for.
- 44:14Speaker 1: The wind named after a Swedish king.
- 44:16Speaker 9: Trying to say something that.
- 44:21Speaker 1: This style is served with crab meat, asparagus and butter
- 44:26Speaker 1: sauce on top of it.
- 44:28Speaker 8: Steve, there's been a little plot twist in this little.
- 44:34Speaker 6: It's a rare children's movie. It winds up where the
- 44:38Speaker 6: the kids the under the rich kids.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Phil, you got to do the director's cut of this episode.
- 44:48Speaker 8: Anyone else.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Named after a Swedish sham bag down on their next time.
- 44:56Speaker 1: This style of steak is served with crab meat, a
- 44:59Speaker 1: spa guss and butter sauce on top of it. Steve,
- 45:02Speaker 1: have you ever seen a steak that looked like this?
- 45:04Speaker 6: This is totally foreign, a steak with crabb met I'm stumped. Now,
- 45:08Speaker 6: you're now like the quintessential eighties white cloth, like the
- 45:13Speaker 6: old kind of fancy steakhouse.
- 45:17Speaker 9: It's not this steak. If it doesn't have asparagus with it, they.
- 45:21Speaker 8: Would have had beef Wellington on the same menu, right, yeah, man,
- 45:26Speaker 8: just like the classic side. But no, I'm making steak Diana.
- 45:32Speaker 1: That was a sauce Trivia Championship. It was about the steak, Diane.
- 45:38Speaker 7: Yeah, We've been making a lot of steak, Dian ever
- 45:40Speaker 7: since that aired.
- 45:43Speaker 8: Yeah, well I should talk to you about some notes.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Brody and Steve, do you boys give up? No?
- 45:53Speaker 8: Give me a second?
- 45:54Speaker 2: Hold on?
- 45:55Speaker 3: What are we doing here?
- 45:58Speaker 2: This is what happens when we don't eat one.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Karin is sitting out there tapping her watch.
- 46:02Speaker 9: I can't remember you stumped the chef.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brandan sang
- 46:10Speaker 1: Louis Yanni without an answer, Count without an answer, Randal
- 46:14Speaker 1: sang Oscar, Corey sang King surfin turf. Brody sayg hollandays,
- 46:20Speaker 1: Danielle without an answer, Steve saying Holland days Randall got it.
- 46:24Speaker 1: The correct answer is Oscar style?
- 46:27Speaker 6: Why did you take mine?
- 46:28Speaker 1: Making him our winner?
- 46:30Speaker 9: Wow?
- 46:31Speaker 1: The Oscar style steak was created with Veal in eighteen
- 46:34Speaker 1: ninety seven and named after the Swedish King Oscar Frederick,
- 46:39Speaker 1: who loved the pairing of ingredients. King Oscar was an
- 46:42Speaker 1: eccentric who wrote poetry, founded the world's first open air museum,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and funded numerous Arctic expeditions. Besides this surfing turf, he
- 46:51Speaker 1: also has a glacier named after him. Has anyone ever
- 46:53Speaker 1: had an Oscar style steak?
- 46:56Speaker 7: Yes, I'm sure I have.
- 46:58Speaker 1: It's on the menu at Chico. If you oh, yeah,
- 47:00Speaker 1: you're at Chico, they have an Oscar staff steak there.
