- 0:02In this episode, we'll be exploring the interplay between conscious and unconscious processes,
- 0:07including habits and impulses. We'll take a closer look at how these factors shape
- 0:11our behavior and actions. First, let's talk about conscious processes. Conscious processes
- 0:17refer to the thoughts, emotions, and decisions that we are aware of and
- 0:20can control. For example, when we make a decision to go to the
- 0:23gym, that decision is a conscious process. We are aware of it and
- 0:27we can control it. Conscious processes are often based on our personal values,
- 0:31beliefs, and goals. Next, let's talk about unconscious processes. Unconscious processes
- 0:36refer to the thoughts, emotions, and decisions that we are not aware of
- 0:40and cannot control. For example, our heartbeat and breathing our unconscious processes.
- 0:45We are not aware of them and we cannot control them. Unconscious processes can
- 0:49also include things like memories, emotions, and habits. Habits are a type
- 0:53of unconscious process that refer to repetitive behaviors that we engage in without thinking about
- 0:58them. For example, brushing our in the morning is a habit. We
- 1:00don't have to think about it, we just do. Habits can be both
- 1:03positive and negative. For example, exercising regularly is a positive habit, while
- 1:08smoking is a negative habit. Habits can be difficult to change, but they
- 1:12can be changed with effort and persistence. Impulses are a type of unconscious process
- 1:17that refer to sudden, often intense feelings that drive us to do something.
- 1:21For example, an impulse to eat a piece of chocolate cake is driven by
- 1:25an intense feeling of pleasure. Impulses can be both positive and negative. For
- 1:29example, an impulse to help someone in need as a positive impulse, while
- 1:33an impulse to lash out an anger as a negative impulse. Impulses can be
- 1:37difficult to control, but they can be managed with self awareness and self regulation.
- 1:41It's important to note that conscious and unconscious processes are not mutually exclusive.
- 1:46They interact and influence each other. For example, our conscious goals can influence
- 1:51our unconscious habits, and our unconscious impulses can influence our conscious decisions. In
- 1:56conclusion, conscious and unconscious processes, including habits and impulses, play a significant
- 2:00role in shaping our behavior and actions. Understanding these factors can give us a
- 2:06deeper insight into ourselves and help us make more informed decisions about our lives.
