- @MisfitCoach: Good morning, misfits. were tuning into another episode of the misfit podcast on today's show. Page and I are going to do a quarter finals recap podcast. We're going to talk about the programming, maybe sprinkle in some anger about certain aspects of the season. but then we're going to do what we do. We're going to talk about like, what you do about when you run into roadblocks, when you have outlier workouts, when you have things that you need to improve on, we warned you. @paige_semenza: you @MisfitCoach: Before the open that all of the workouts were going to be medium duration. we warned you before quarter finals that all of the workouts were going to be short. Do we like it? Tune in to find out, but it is data and it is information that we can use to help misfit athletics athletes get better. Before we get into all of that, we're going to jump into a little bit of housekeeping. just reiterating what's coming up in programming. So the biggest thing here. @paige_semenza: You @MisfitCoach: You shouldn't be fast forwarding through the housekeeping because if you to do a semi finals prep peaking program, age group online, age group in person, individual in person, individual online, you have to reach out to directly. You can do that on telegram, Instagram email coach at miss fit athletics.com get in touch so we can let you know what your best course of action is. And we'll probably get you into one of the. More private telegram groups where we deliver the programming. So make sure you get in touch with us there. The bulk of people who are going to be doing an online prep program, we're actually going to talk about, who should follow that and who shouldn't, spoiler, it's not 2000 people on the men's and women's side. those people are starting sort of towards the end of April. I think it's like April 27th. if you are for something like NorCal classic, you get to start next week. How exciting is that? And then, we've got, I'll, I'll bury one of the leads there for, for one of our shout outs. So week on, on our programming is cherry picking week. Okay. There is a program. If you subscribe to GPP, hatchet masters, pro affiliate, there is a program. It's just, you know, you log in and you do your thing every day, like any other day throughout the year. but there's also PDFs ⁓ of every program. And our benchmarks and I'm given the affiliate program to people who are competitive. Basically what we're looking for is for you to either take extra rest days, take an affiliate class, go for a bike ride, a jog, or there's tons of people who just, they do all of this because they want to be doing it they want to keep doing it. So when you log in and you see aerobic mixed machine, 15 minutes of rotating through machines, you can be like, I don't want to do that. Or I want to do that at moderate intensity or I want to bury myself in round one. You can all kiss my ass. Just do your thing. Right. The flow chart that I took 30 seconds making with AI was, do I want to do it? Yes. Do it. Do I not want to do it? No. Choose something else. gave you a lot of options. so if you, some people commented, like, I know a lot of athletes, there's the type of athlete that like being able to choose stresses them out. ⁓ that's actually a lot more athletes than I thought. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: The program's still there. Just, just log in, do it. Everything's going to be totally fine. week, Monday, ⁓ 6th, are back to our regular off season type schedule, three on one off two on one off. And that is a preview week of off season block one. so it's basically like a layout of the mandatory work for everybody, whether you're going to choose strength bias, conditioning bias, or like a hybrid version of that. It is the, the sort of low to moderate volume version of that to get you ready, to sort of lead you into that and know how you're going to execute on certain things. One that's challenging about arriving at a program, whether you're new to misfit athletics or not is like. have figure some stuff out week one, a lot of times when there's testing. So we're going to try to give you guys a little bit of runway and kind of ramp you back up to get you into that spot. and then the following week. ⁓ what next week's podcast is going to be all about, Monday, April 13th is off season block one. that's where we are going to get into biased programming, strength bias, conditioning bias, ⁓ or we'll the little workshop on, how to template out your hybrid version. so that's what we got going on for programming right now. Again, ⁓ if you want to about some of finals prep, if you want to know whether you ⁓ should be doing it not, please reach out. This episode of the podcast, as well as all episodes of the podcast are brought to you by gorilla mind. I have a new affinity for one of their products. I've gotten back into the road biking, going on kind of longer rides and being to just take one to two scoops of their intra and put it my road bike and water bottle and have carbs, electrolytes, creatine, all right there. Easy tastes good. it's like, if, if didn't own ⁓ Gatorade, I think we're a large enough podcast where I, it matters if I slander, Coca-Cola, but basically it's like scientifically proven ingredients in terms the carbs and the electrolytes and the amino acids and stuff that they put in there. And again, it tastes good. so it's just nice to be able to have something like that and like, I don't know. I used to use the Gatorade quite a bit and like, can just taste kind of what's wrong with it. can see it. Like that color orange is terrifying or that color yellow is terrifying. and just logged in to make sure I knew about the ingredients and stuff. And if you and save it's 36 % off right now, and it will be even more when you use the code word misfit. And then if the one-time purchase is 20 % off, if you want to go in and try it. And there's a lot of carbs in that job. @paige_semenza: Yeah @MisfitCoach: Cause I'm more of a like one scoop kind of person. Cause I don't, I don't do a ton of volume. and they last me a really long time. and if you're the kind of person that needs a ton of carbs, well, then you're one those people that has to spend a bunch of money on, on food. So, gorilla mind.com forward slash misfit or use the code word misfit at checkout ⁓ and ⁓ into intro. And I have tried both flavors now and I like both. think I like the Kiwi better. the cherry is a good change of pace and you were spot on with the Tootsie pop ⁓ reference. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Right? It's crazy. @MisfitCoach: It's like exactly that. It's like a nostalgic you like the second you drink it, you're like, know this. is this? ⁓ one of the things I want to shout out that is pretty rare is I have remote coaching openings, which I don't make public very often. the reason I'm doing it right now is because post quarterfinals, we get a ton of applications. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: And what I will say is we'll talk about why you would or wouldn't or need remote coaching later on in the episode. but I will say if you're just like excited in the moment, I'm the salesman ever. If you're just excited in the moment and then don't want to get to work and communicate really well and take videos and have these conversations, don't apply for it. It's a waste of your money. It's a waste of whoever the coach that you get assigned to. ⁓ It's just worth it. Right. get into the Telegram group, learn to the right questions and work hard in the program. Then if you feel like you end up really buying in, I would say apply later. If you are really serious about it and want to kind of level up, take your time on the application. A lot of go in there and ask really odd questions about like macros. ⁓ And it's like, not exactly sure what's going on right now. So. Apply for remote coaching. those openings will probably, if I had to guess, be gone at some point in may, roughly. that is the Lincoln bio on our Instagram and just on our website, miss but athletics.com. All right. Last, but definitely not least are the quarterfinal shout outs. I have to say something I'm going to, I'm going to let page run with it in a minute here, but the community right now. ⁓ reminds me of early days, Misfit Athletics, and I love it. This version, the internet right now, the way that it's constructed, Instagram and the attention economy and its YouTube shorts and all this stuff does not work for my brain. I am a boomer in that right. I can't stand it. Like I stopped doing what I do professionally, you probably would not see anywhere. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: Would I would see what it's like out there as like a human in the world But that like message board vibe 2010 like that is my speed because I feel a Connection with people you can read it when you want to read it You don't have to be just so ready every second to do that and the way that you guys are communicating with one another giving each other tips building each other up like little bit of that like locker room, like jabbing each other. Once you know that the person can handle it, like I just, I love that. we will continue to foster that community. and just exciting, my specific shout out is to the misfit masters crew. have eight to 10 athletes right now that are following a semi-finals prep. started a few weeks ago. They had to jump off of some of my finals prep during a higher volume period, do quarter finals. got to jump back on either Thursday or Friday. They got hell week next week. They're just getting after it. they crushed quarter finals. ⁓ Justin, Kelly, Kenzie, Adrian, Ashley, Missy, Tony, Katie. I'm very grateful that the people that we are trying to go above and beyond for him. @paige_semenza: it So fun. @MisfitCoach: pouring into are doing the 50 50 agreement thing, putting in the work, you know, they're communicating. They're just, it's, it's just really awesome to see. And, there's three or four people in there that are top 10 in the, in the world and they're in their age group. we've got some people that whether they go or not are going to qualify for the in-person, in Del just really exciting. and, I'm just, pumped for the rest of the season. That's for sure. @paige_semenza: Yeah. shout out to Adrian and Kyle for bringing Katie into their little environment for quarter finals weekend this weekend. she's like, I can't really explain it, but having them around was so helpful. And I'm like, you don't need to explain it. Like you're around like-minded individuals who want to see you do just as well as they are doing. And like, all you need to feed off of each other. and you know, that's, that's. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. @paige_semenza: Not just CrossFit community, but seeing it in like within the Misfit community is really awesome. Um, so shout out to those guys for making her feel at home. Um, cause she does, she's not, I don't, I don't think she's at an affiliate. So she had to go to one. Um, but yeah, I work with Katie, um, masters 55 to 59 and Tony, who is in the 35 to 39 division, um, on the men's side and just communicating with those guys all weekend long again, as remote athletes. Um, not only excited for them to continue in the semifinals route, but all of my athletes, I work with seven total and just the communication that they have been willing to put forward throughout the weekend and, you know, very responsive, managing their stress, ⁓ you all the highs and lows that come with semifinals. Like it was just a lot of fun. And as who's like managing my own stress, still being able to that and them, you know, get upset, but also stay in it is inspiring me. Like it's like, all right, well, if you guys are going to go stay in it, so am I. So I'm going to lock back in. so, you know, shout out to, I'm gonna say all my remote athletes and you know, it's just that that's just the camaraderie that I've, I've really wanted to with mine and just give them the attention that they deserve. @MisfitCoach: Mm-hmm. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. Quarterfinals recap. So the thing that comes to mind here with quarterfinals when we're speaking from a macro perspective are the different sort of ⁓ subsections people who are doing it. And if we start at the top, I'm looking at the leaderboard right now. I see five minutes, six minutes, four minutes, minutes, the word broad. Let's do a, I won't, no hyperbole here. What is the word broad? Definition, what is broad? @paige_semenza: Here comes the rant. @MisfitCoach: a large number and wide scope of subjects or areas. Broad times and modal domains. And we told you guys the opens workouts and quarterfinals are short workouts. What's so frustrating here isn't It's the totality of all the things. If it was just this programming you had to put your video in to get the thumbs up, thumbs down, that would be a little bit more helpful. If it was just, well, I'm even, I'm not even going to be able to play devil's advocate here, but if let's say it was just these workouts and fact that There was no, basically there was no way to police it. It's integrity of the affiliate owner, the judge, et cetera. trust me, I know of specific examples where that is a ⁓ crock of shit. Shame on you. all anyone who's who just, I think there are people who are ⁓ shitty go, well, everyone else is going to do it. So I might as well. And it's like, no, you're, you are everyone else. You are that person. @paige_semenza: there. Right. @MisfitCoach: You're trying to find a way to justify this. If it was just those things, and then there was a very clear to advance to to the in-person semi-finals and then make it to the CrossFit games. There'd be probably be less of a rant. The magic of this sport and the history of this sport is on the fact that, my they created this online competition that anybody could sign up and you could prove ⁓ how you were. And that person in your gym that works their ass off during open gym can make it to regional semifinals, sanctionals, whatever you want to call it. We're going to go there and we're going to watch and we're going to do this thing. The less opportunities you give the next wave or the people that are trying to climb the ladder and squeak into that place, the more all of your numbers and all of your revenue and all of that stuff is going to drop. Like I have worked with so many athletes in the last 15 years that have wanted to qualify for that like semi-final level. Like that's the true peak. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: Right? Like lot of them squeaked into the games and that's awesome. That's a whole different conversation, but like that magic and working with those people, there are hundreds of athletes across the world that would contribute greatly to the sport. If they had an opportunity to do so, not only are they probably not going to have an opportunity, they have no clue if they have an opportunity. of this makes any sense. Right? Like @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: And we talked about like, was fun to see the guys pull their strategies from a hat, but like very clearly if else can write your strategy down and fold it up on a piece of paper and put it into a hat, then you're probably not taking things so seriously. And like that's part of the attention economy and they probably would have been fine and would have qualified for whatever they needed to anyways. But it's just to me, another thing. Like we're putting a lot of straws onto the camel's back here. And eventually there's going to be the thing that like this whole thing is just going to come crumbling down. And it's so frustrating to see because of how good the athletes and the programming camps and the coaches community-wide have gotten. Like we're doing our part over here. The coaches, the athletes, the program, all of these people, we are doing our part. We are. putting our contributions in and then it's like, well, I guess we found out that people liked quarterfinals. So we'll put it back in, but we're going to write these workouts for quarterfinals, which again, we don't need to broad time and modal domains. Like I don't, not so sure we're, we're hammering that we went like, they're talking about maybe a continuation of the open into quarterfinals. And they're like, how's this for a continuation? Let's do the same movements. The thing that you did, bam is the first thing that you did. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: Fantastic. I just, all of it together is a problem. The athletes, what I said to you before we started the athletes 500 to 2000, et cetera. These were fine, right? Because you had the outlier workouts, then the, the, the time domains kind of spread out a little bit. Um, but man, it just, it feels like a lack of effort. That's really what it feels like. @paige_semenza: Yeah. I feel like, I feel like that excitement of like those that are on the bubble. feel like that's kind of. Translated over into age groups more than anything. I'm like, have like, you know, like someone like Tony who like, not sure if he's going to make semifinals and he's sitting comfortably in it. And now he's super excited about it. I feel like that excitement for it is in the age groups. It's just that. @MisfitCoach: Hmm. Sure. Yeah. @paige_semenza: The A-Trips don't get as much attention, know? @MisfitCoach: Well, and what's great here is we have multiple athletes that didn't qualify for age group that qualified for individual. Like, could you guys have done some math? Like that's part of what we're going to get into in the podcast here. Like if you're 1500th to 2000th, do not prep for semifinals. Absolutely positively do not. It's not going to be appropriate. Like The age group one is going to be appropriate prep for that and simulate it. That one is going to be appropriate for you. so it's just the way that, know what this year feels like to me, it feels like we don't quite know what to do. And we're going to try to fix it and get to you. We'll, we'll, let you know in a few years or something like that, you know, man, I just, I don't get it. And there are positives to this like. @paige_semenza: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. On the fly. Okay. Yep. @MisfitCoach: The Misfit community dug into this. Like the chatter was great, strategies, people talking all of it. It was a good experience, but so much of the effort was brought on by the people it. And it just didn't feel like that was the case there. Like event three. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: Looking at this leaderboard for event three is crazy, right? Like Colton tripped once and he got 60 second he was 421 instead of whatever, 20 seconds away from being, from being top 10. Just everyone is just jammed together in that because ⁓ is not a test worthy of a high level athlete. just isn't. It absolutely is not. so I don't know, man, I just, @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: I don't know what they're doing. I don't understand what they're doing. I don't understand what they're trying to do. Maybe they just don't know what to do. And this is like the byproduct of that. it's incredibly frustrating and they're just, honestly, they're lucky that people care about this so much. ⁓ like second chance, third chance, fourth chance, fifth chance, like, know, @paige_semenza: Yeah, I mean it. Yeah, I'm curious. Like I had to go to another affiliate to do my workouts. and they were super accommodating, but I'm like, these were all very affiliate appropriate workouts. You like I see that side of it, but I know. I miss the old one, old quarterfinals. Give me a 165 clean and jerk and. @MisfitCoach: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. @paige_semenza: and make me do it a lot of times. Ha ha ha! @MisfitCoach: Here's a question, do we have a solution? What do we want? Like, cause that is one thing that it's a huge pet peeve of mine. I stand like on a professional level when people complain and aren't really interested in a solution. They like to complain. They like to be negative. I'm so in day to day of how do we help? the athletes get better. What information can we give them that it can be challenging to take a step back and be like, what is the actual solution here? but I can tell you that a, this leads to this leads to this is how this needs to happen, right? ⁓ and okay, quarterfinals is back and it's the qual, it's the feeder system to semi-finals. And it turns out for semi-finals are using it and they're only using it for half of people. They also. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Right. @MisfitCoach: Aren't telling you whether like if someone accepts their invitation to legends, they allowed to also accept their invitation. We don't know any of this stuff. are people who their jobs and train a day, five days a week and once a day, a sixth day. And some people who train every single day to do this and they don't know how, when, they don't understand any of it. Right. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: Like it is their, it is their life. is their livelihood. And then they're like, well, I'm not top 20 in the world or top 40 in the world. So that means that I am now not participating beyond quarterfinals where you didn't give us time and modal domains ⁓ go in and execute. Like @paige_semenza: Yeah. I don't understand, like why did we have to change from like the 2023, 2024 or 2022 system of like the strength of feel? That's what I was thinking of. I couldn't think of the name. Like what was wrong with that? You know what I mean? Like what were the holes in that CrossFit's like? We need to not do this. @MisfitCoach: Mm-hmm. You would have to assume that there is internal struggle at HQ. So and so wants it one way. The marketing team wants it one way. The financial team wants it one way and. Dave makes a sweeping change and then it's like, this actually you weren't, you weren't paying attention to this side of it. So this needs to be here. He's very much. job is to find the fittest person on earth and that's fine, but maybe stick to ⁓ it takes to find that person, to find that and let someone completely take over kind of the other stuff, because it just, did the of it, how it's laid out. yeah, I don't know. @paige_semenza: the logistics of it. @MisfitCoach: I just, it should be clear. And then the answer to your questions is an annoying one and a funny one and tongue in cheek, but like they can't keep the same thing. It's very clear that they just can't do that. They won't do that. @paige_semenza: Yeah, right. But it worked. @MisfitCoach: and you would think they would try to make it better. Not worse. @paige_semenza: Yeah, like. I know. I think I liked it because it was like, obviously I could be biased, but it's like, you gave people, like some people are going to look at this and go, ⁓ my God, the top three are going to qualify. I'm not going to that semi-final, but then it's like, they're only taking seven from online. Yeah. So it's like, it's just so limited that it's like, where do you put all your marbles in? That's, that's what I'm struggling with. @MisfitCoach: I think so. Yeah. Mm-hmm. @paige_semenza: I'm like, don't know, do I want to go in person? Do I want to just prep for online? @MisfitCoach: And like, can't, I can't wrap my mind around this. It's like, you try to think about it in the context of any other sport. It's like, yeah, the, the Lakers are going to decide to play in March because they know the Spurs have decided they're going to, they're going to play in May. They don't have to play them. It's great. Like what? I can't like, like @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah @MisfitCoach: Every golfer goes to the, you know, the, the, the players and the mat, you know, I just, cannot wrap my mind around like, Ooh, I wonder if I can guess where people aren't going to show up or, or I'm ready to do the qualifier that got announced like 30 seconds ago. Like I just, yeah, I don't know. @paige_semenza: Right. Like, am I going to go to Far East? @MisfitCoach: I don't know. know what though? We're just going to keep, there's a sports podcast that I listened to and they, ⁓ like, the just dicks us around and it's like, they know we're coming back no matter what. It's like, I'm not going anywhere. Like this is my thing. This is what I want to do. This is, ⁓ know, ⁓ my, but also if you guys could fix it, that would be sick. @paige_semenza: Thanks CrossFit. Bye. Right, exactly. Yep. @MisfitCoach: That would be awesome. All right. So here's the question. The bigger macro question when someone leaves a competition like this, where you were asked to level up in event one, you were asked to push pretty damn hard in event two, you had high volume of some real movements that got pretty annoying. event three, event four, you know, you, had to, ⁓ You had to be able to do 30 strict handstand pushups. was another gated workout or into a slow down to then do a large chunk smells like another thing that I can think of. Um, so there was still enough data for you to figure out probably where you need to go. Right. It's rare that an intermediate level athlete doesn't have an outlier. They do exist. You know, I, I always type in all the names and for some reason then the @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: search by athlete thing. I was breaks. but I do type in the misfit names and I go in and there's a couple people who are like 250th ish across all four. And it's like, salute, keep working, put your head down and keep working. but a lot of them where you search, it's there right in line with a lot of the scores and then there's something there. and you to ⁓ bias your moving forward. If you're not prepping. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: for semi-finals. And not only do you need to do that, you need to let that bias breathe. There has to be space around it for it to actually work and take hold, right? It's why we can't and don't bias specifically during competition prep closer to a season because we need that fitness level to be as high as possible. That's honestly one of the simplest forms of programming. It's when an athlete needs to get better at specific things they don't realize how much interference they're running on getting better at that thing by doing all of the other stuff that they're doing. and it is so individualized we try to do the strength bias track conditioning bias track. and then there's obviously the remote coaching side of things, but I can tell you right now that if you're trying work on your pulling or you're pushing. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: or your conditioning or your strength and those other things that I just talked about get in the way of you doing that. It's just going to be a longer road. It's going to be a much longer road. It's going to be a slower road. It's also, there's a psychological effect to a long, slow road. You eventually feel like I'm not going to get better at this thing. I can't get better at this thing. You will, it's just going to take a really long time. Whereas if you actually do focus on the thing, um, @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: you get better because you're getting better. If you see it, you see that progress and you buy into it and you put more intensity and effort into those things. So it's really important that that you understand that concept and you push back on things that even we tell you to do that are going to get in the way of doing that. So here's an example. If you are doing the conditioning ⁓ bias program two conditioning pieces every single day and a lift and a skill makes so that you're never ⁓ really after it and your conditioning pieces. Then even if you're not an open athlete, you need to switch over to those open athlete instructions, right? Choose a lift, choose a conditioning piece, one to skills a week and just go get after it. Right? So like we'll talk. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: through all of this next week. We will talk through this probably every day for the next couple of months in telegram, but like, cannot stress this enough. If what you're doing outside of your bias is affecting your bias on a regular basis, then it's just going to be slow going. Like a lot of people are going to have to back off on their volume we've got a lot of type a people trying to do competitive CrossFit and it's, hard. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Yeah. I think, think there is, I people forget that ⁓ one ⁓ one piece, ⁓ and an option, a skill or an accessory is actually a lot of work in a day. Like it's plenty. If it's, ⁓ if done right, like if you go and you get after it, that is plenty. And I think that people do miss that a lot of times because it's like, @MisfitCoach: If you do it right. @paige_semenza: We offer this stuff, like is so much intention of what we put behind everything that if that intention is missed, yeah, it's easy to add more volume, but like off season is a. @MisfitCoach: If you're a volume monster though, and you take that same effort over to the lower volume, it won't work that well. You have to know, and I'm sort of teeing up how you could get better at workout one, but like, you really have to change the way you're executing to improve. @paige_semenza: Sure. Sure. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: All right. Let's talk about outliers. So this is what we do with athletes. let's say I get a remote coaching athlete ⁓ we're going to look at their, their open scores, their quarterfinal scores, any qualifiers that they did, any competitions that they did. we want to see the things where the bottleneck is and what we feel like was the problem there. And there's honestly a lot of different things, different reasons why someone wouldn't do well in a specific workout. So we'll some examples of that basically with the quarterfinals workout. So workout one, very clearly you have to have that high level of GPP and you need be able to push that shorter time domain. But what we just talked about, With that level of intensity, with that gross, I'm not going to recover for 40 minutes ⁓ execution. If you don't do that, you don't know how to do that. You don't know what it feels like. You don't know what it feels like to be a little bit too far behind the line. You don't know what it feels like to be over the line. and that's a problem, right? Like that's what this workout was designed to do. You were supposed to pace it so that they looked similar. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: with that one minute rest in between and how many people fell off a cliff either, ⁓ no, I can't do that burpee speed again, I eeked out, I just barely eeked out that burpee speed again and then the overhead squats were a real problem. And I also saw like you guys are, and I only do this because you guys are so much fitter than me and I'm jealous, but you fucking narps, my God, those shuttle runs on the back half were hilarious. ⁓ my goodness, wow. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Right. It's so bad. They're so bad. @MisfitCoach: Incredible. What is happening? I feel like I feel like half the gyms in America now need to get a concrete guy to come back in and you know smooth everything out. You guys stomped holes in the floor. My goodness that was amazing to watch. @paige_semenza: You Stump holes. How about did you, I don't know if you guys, if you watch the video of the guy who did it live he just starts running in a circle. Cause he can't stop and start anymore. He literally did laps for his show. It's funny to watch. ⁓ @MisfitCoach: I love it. That's incredible. Yep. Yeah. the only affiliate workout, unless it was like a real special day with who was in class that I would ever win was death by shuttles. ⁓ Cause like, I'm quicker smarter. I'm not fitter. I'm not fitter, like you have shuttle and the person's like running like 18 miles an hour in the middle of their shuttle. And it's like, all right, come on now. @paige_semenza: Ugh. Stop, stop. different. @MisfitCoach: And, and this is just, this, this brings us back to, we, we have this ebb and flow in the CrossFit community like go way too hard at the beginning of a workout and just burn it down. And eventually you'll get so fit that you can execute on that. And then we have the, like, we had the, the ⁓ froning, Ben Smith era where it's like, man, they pay so well and they move so incredibly well. ⁓ And like. Other people think that they're at that level and at that speed and doing that thing. And it's like, well, they actually just make something very hard, look effortless. and you know, they really kind of control their breathing and whatnot, but we have these ebbs and flows of we're to go really hard and do less volume. And then now we're going to do more volume. And there's going to be like just a ton of zone two work. And I wrote article back in the day, if you just Google Pukey is dead. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: where it was like, we need to get back this place because you end up when you, when you coach, when you coach at these competitions, you end up like, like the introverts end up like collecting like dust in a corner and you become friends with the athletes. And not shocking that a lot of the more quiet spoken people aren't the like run and put your head through a wall kind of people. And you could see the workouts where they would drop. 10 plus spots at the games they couldn't identify those ones. They couldn't see those for what they were. Like clearly ⁓ one's going to go unbroken on this with these muscle ups or whatever. And it's like, it's going to be a couple of people. There's going to be half the field is going to try and four people are going to get it right. You know, something like that. ⁓ so you just, you have to know ⁓ when go there and what it feels like. and @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yep. @MisfitCoach: If you don't do that, if you don't learn how to do that, you're gonna mistake pretty good effort for like your top effort. And it's just never gonna cut it. That's a whole minute in that workout. That's a whole minute added to that workout if you don't know how to train that way. And spoiler, you're gonna get way fitter training that way as well. Like you go harder, you have better adaptation if you do the right amount of volume. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Yep. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: in terms of where your recovery is at, like you're gonna end up doing better. But I think people get a little bit too cute with stuff and that can get in their way. @paige_semenza: Right. intensity. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. @paige_semenza: That was a good one. That was a fun one to talk to Wyatt about. Wyatt, ⁓ also shout out to Wyatt for making online semi-finals. He finished like 1200, I know. But like... @MisfitCoach: Hmm. Hell yeah, Wyatt. Wyatt, you haven't asked me for your gift card, bro. @paige_semenza: Hey, dude, I told him about it. I know you really did win. He's like, I had no business doing this, but my first half of that workout was 243. And then he finished like a 720. But again, that was him knowing that like, I'm going to go really hard. And obviously, like a test isn't the time to like fuck around and find out. But he found out. @MisfitCoach: It's the double gift card too. Mm-hmm. Yep. He did it. Yeah. @paige_semenza: And like he went really hard. He he you know, he felt the intensity of that workout, probably the most out of all four of them, because he did that. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. Right. Yeah. And that's where want that athlete versus the opposite to then be I'm, I'm going to tell you how to do this workout and competition. Okay. I'm going to tell you how to execute on this and you might not like it. You hope you can get them to a spot where they believe in it. That, that part of it's really important, but like, @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: I would much rather have that athlete than the one who shies away from certain things. Dude, there are, is this subsection of seasoned that end in the last few years of their significantly lower on the leaderboard or not on the leaderboard at all because they don't want to be in pain again. @paige_semenza: Yeah, for sure. @MisfitCoach: And those athletes are really hard to work with for me. It's just so challenging for me to be like, I don't even like why, like this, this is the piece that belongs in this spot here. And you're not going to do the workout the way that is written. And it almost just wanted to like delete it and be like, okay, well go sit outside in the sun and have a lollipop. Like, I don't know. I don't know what to do here. @paige_semenza: you @MisfitCoach: Those, those athletes, it can be really challenging to work with because when you get to the competition and there is the nasty one, they are doing the thing where they're like, well, you know, I don't really like workouts like this. I don't think I can put myself in that spot. it's like, I don't love it. Workout too. one is a big plug for remote coaching. If you didn't do well in it. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: It's very specific workout to and workout for are both really big plugs for remote coaching. If you struggled with the idea of I'm not great at pressing with the strict handstand pushups or grip isn't fantastic ⁓ slash with the bar muscle ups to truly take someone through an entire off season where you are base building. ⁓ And then personalizing and then getting into sports specific probably most important element of like year one or year two of a remote coaching relationship. ⁓ And wish there was enough time in day and it was possible, but you guys would be talking about like, that'd be like 14 groups per phase on telegram like, you following program J seven? @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: you know, B 19 and you'd have like one remote, you'd have like one online training partner and it would be an absolute mess. so it's one of those things where ⁓ need to do kind of slower boring stuff. got to do your dead hangs and your handstand holds. ⁓ You've to do your hand over hand sled pulls ⁓ and @paige_semenza: you Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: You know, ring rows and barbell rows, and you got to do your, you know, tempo descent, strict, you know, chest of our, there's just those things and building them to specifically work for a specific athlete can be challenging. is absolutely possible to do it on your own. but it's a lot harder. It's a lot harder to in and execute on something like that. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Especially if you're that type of athlete that likes to be told what to do. Like, you know, like we talked about having this, like, you know, having little less structured through this time, because we're giving you guys ⁓ chance to cherry pick, but like, I still like, I know my athletes are going to be like, what should I do? Like they, they just, they like that structure. So, yeah, definitely a plug for. If you like structure being told what to do, hit us up. @MisfitCoach: Yeah, that's true. Mm-hmm. The other piece here is athlete IQ on this workout specifically. And I don't mean in this workout. I mean all year long so that when you get to this workout, you're not one of the 10,000 people that did even rounds across this entire workout. It doesn't make sense. The athletes that I know that did well did have a of a nuanced approach. was sets muscle ups, but then two sets, a lot of them did two sets kind of broke up the, the, the squat cleans a little bit more. thought that was, that was an interesting thing to do. but again, ⁓ just, just the idea you ⁓ are disciplined enough and move enough. and that your energy systems are long smooth and aerobic that you're just going to go four and eight back and forth without any larger breaks. Like if someone said to me, I'm going to do five and 10 for my first round and three and six for my last round, and then just four and eight in the middle, that would make way more to me. Just cause cause a lot of people were like, well, I did four and eight the whole time, but I did two and two for like half of it. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: with the, with the muscle ups. And it's like, that's not, that's not, that's not what that is. You're, you're kind of pigeonholing yourself a little bit. So, doing more of that athlete IQ work because you need to believe in a strategy that works for you personally. You don't want to go online and find a strategy that looks right because the person that ⁓ it or suggested it did it well on their own because you're not them. Right. @paige_semenza: Yeah. the same, right? Right. Yep. @MisfitCoach: And I didn't expect people to, to perfect. Like you would, I would say you probably need to do this three times to like really nail it. Like most people were like a lot of the, like a lot of people started a little bit too high on the bar muscle ups, you know, open with 10 or nine or whatever. And just based on their time, you could tell like they felt they had to have fallen apart at the end or just not understood that standing around is, is not going to help you in a workout like this. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Right. @MisfitCoach: Um, so you got to know yourself well enough as an athlete for, to have the ability to go in. part of it is recognizing workouts that you do well on and workouts that you don't do well on, right? It's not just like, what is my strategy here? It's okay. This is attacking this strength of mine or weakness of mine. And how did I do on that thing? So athlete IQ throughout the season, thinking about. what the workout is, what the volume is, how long it's going to take, how, you know, what your strategy should be. Try this one and then try that one and then try the other one. Like that's going to be the most helpful for you to figure out what to do in workouts that need a truly personalized, like set of plans to execute on. @paige_semenza: Yeah. I mean that, that workout specifically too. I feel like I heard a lot of people say, not a lot of people, but the bar muscle ups weren't bad in that workout. And I think that that was people's original thought was that those were going to be much harder. but it was the dumbbells. So like, I also think that that, that one specifically like threw me for a loop as far as like. @MisfitCoach: Mm-hmm. Sure. @paige_semenza: How is it going to feel? How should I approach this? So that one stumped me too. @MisfitCoach: Yep, right. Did you do even rounds the whole time? @paige_semenza: Almost. I wish I went, I wish I started bigger. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. @paige_semenza: Yeah, I did because I thought that the grip was going to be the issue, but it wasn't, it was more gas. which we also did. mean, we did say that early on, but like, I, I trust my enough. I haven't trained grip enough, I guess I would say to think that I would be still conditioned to do, hang on for bigger but had I gone and redone it, I would, I would definitely would try that kind of approach. @MisfitCoach: Right. Yeah. workout three, my, line notes as meh. It just wasn't a quarterfinals workout. Was it? @paige_semenza: Wasn't... No. don't even know if it was really a workout. ⁓ @MisfitCoach: I mean, so one of, yeah, one of the reasons why I pause is because of my career, most of the people that I work with are semi-finals and CrossFit Games athletes. For those people, this was not a good test, but I work with the whole community and I work with some other people who struggled a little bit with this. So it's like, okay, this is kind of like an outlier, like If you don't like this movement specifically sort of workout. and at that intermediate level, was definitely deadlift efficiency. I don't, I don't think she would ⁓ me bringing this up, but we talked about the true kind of powerlifting leverage based deadlift versus the like squatty Olympic style deadlift. And thing that @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: I found really interesting is so when someone does the squatty style, eventually in the workout, typically do this a lot. Like shorter people do this a lot on a one rep max. They pass their knee and then they re bend their knee and try to extend their knee to stand up basically, which is so hard, ⁓ so incredibly hard. What most are doing is they are at almost @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: full knee extension when the bar is at their knee and then they just push the hip through done. Like there isn't anything else really happening. We have, you know, two systems of levers at play. There isn't, you're not really doing anything at that point if you're doing it right. But what I saw with Kelly that was interesting was basically she's strong enough that it never breaks down to that point, but she has a full extension to stand up after the bar. is like at her thigh basically. And she's really strong and really good with barbells. Don't matter. Like that mechanical disadvantage. So that was like a hybrid version that I hadn't seen before where you're really not understanding that you need to get, when you're at the knee, it's done. Hips through, movements over. There is no standing up at that point. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Mm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: So it almost felt like an easier way to explain, at least in an audio format, um, like how that could happen, how you could get yourself into that spot. And again, it's that person who is halfway up their thigh and their knees are still bent and they have to stand the bar up. Um, so. Deadlift efficiency was intermediate. then of course, like the novice athlete, like 72 % of novice athletes. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: despise double unders. NARPs, the NARPs do not love to see a double under coming. ⁓ it's a bit of an issue there. but yeah, I just, this one's work on double unders and in on understanding dead can make you like 40 % better them. Like if you don't get it and you're moving yourself through that pattern, ⁓ @paige_semenza: Very gassy. He Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: it's gonna fall apart regardless of how strong and fit you are. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. You wanted me to send. I mean, we talked about sending like a good one and a bad one. And I was like, I actually don't know how to do this. In a squatty. Yeah. I had a hard time visualizing it. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. Yeah, Paige couldn't do the bad one. Yeah. Yep. It's because it is very, it's you understand how to download it, it's like extremely counterintuitive. It's like, well, I got my knees out of the way and could just push my hips through. want me to re bend them and then stand up. Like why, why would I do that? And it's like, well, that's what you do in a clean, ⁓ Yeah. Yeah. all Workout number four, we already addressed this. A, just plug for, for remote coaching. @paige_semenza: Yeah, right. Like a, right, exactly, yep. @MisfitCoach: I will say... This one is very black and white for me on the men's side. I think that your fingers should be pointing out. I think you should be close as hell to the wall. And I think your head should move up and down, not to a tripod position. apologize to any gymnasts ⁓ are listening to this podcast as Glassman would say, don't care about the tripod position. Couldn't give a fuck. It, it, You just watch the people that are good at them. They don't do that. They don't go back behind their hands and then like rock their head through because it eventually turns into the human pes dispenser. Like the head goes back because you have to try to recruit more of the anterior side. it's, it's a mess. It's a ton of time under tension. It's just like when you get good at them, I call them elbow bends. That's what they feel like. You don't really feel like you're doing a whole lot because the range of motion. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Right. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: Like if you were to take a barbell and put it all the way up here, it's like that, that's all I'm doing in this position. So if you get a little bit of rebound from going full like neck trampoline on them and not doing the negative that way, ⁓ I know that that can be unfair. There's a gray area on the women's side. If you haven't developed the ability to do that, it's insane for me to tell you to do that. If you can't. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: But you need to develop it. It needs to be the end goal that we're looking for here. Like I've had multiple athletes that I work with that were decent at strict handstand pushups. And we worked on that style for like a month and then they're sending me like a set of 30. So again, like there's @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: Crossfit is riddled. The sport of Crossfit is riddled with movements that need to be adapted from the gymnastics space to competitive Crossfit space. And if you want to watch someone who's really good at them and they're just, just up and down. Most of them aren't in that fingers pointed towards the wall position because that makes it so that you typically have to be a little bit further off the wall. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: And that is going to make it so that you're pressing at that angle, which is more challenging than being able to kind of press yourself straight up and down. So, that is something that can be fixed over a longer period of time. That might be the most frustrating one. Cause like, @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. def, I feel like it, need the most patience for, ⁓ it's ⁓ positions, the like rib cage being stacked. Like there's just a lot that goes into it, you know, like. @MisfitCoach: Ugh, you really do. Yeah. If you've got an ego, you don't stand a chance getting better at something like that. That's one thing. Well, I have, I have this, like, I have this list of, so there's a course that I'm taking and they want me to do a hundred pieces of content in a hundred days, which sounds my own personal hell. Talking to my phone a hundred days in a row, ⁓ might perish. @paige_semenza: Right, yep. That's actually a good way to put it. You @MisfitCoach: You might just see me wilt away and blow like a leaf through the wind. And then that was the last you ever saw of me. If I do take on this challenge, but I'm making a list to try to be like, okay, what the hell would I talk about? And like the ego gets in the way. The athletes that have that thing, they can't ever get better at it because the plan requires them to like work through like a step-by-step thing. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: And then you just see them in the corner and they got 110 % on their back squat and they fail it again. And they don't want to talk to you for three days. it's rinse and So yeah, man, that one's, that one's really, that's how I personally feel about pulling. Like, like, is this just the like pulling versus pressing thing? ⁓ Like for it's pressing all day. and what's really frustrating for me on the polling side is I have that speed and then poof. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Okay. Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: just gone, like I'll do 10 strict pull-ups in a row, fastest ones, you know, west of the Mississippi. And then there's no 11th. are you doing? And I'm like, I'm, I promise you, I tried to do that 11th rep. ⁓ but it is incredibly frustrating because you do the and you see the progress and then we slap it back under intensity and it's not where you want it to be. And it's really challenging. So that would definitely be that, that level of patience is like, @paige_semenza: gone. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Right? @MisfitCoach: That one's big. You really, if you're a coach and you're trying to help an athlete with that, you have to have a high level of trust. You have to be like, is a ⁓ to like, your strict handstand pushup, higher power, have faith, blind faith, like execute for nine months. And then we can talk. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Yeah. I will say too, I think that's one that needs the least amount of interference if you want it to successfully like improve. Yeah, exactly. That's and I'll, ⁓ I'll speak from experience with that too. Like pressing is not my thing and it's taken a lot of years get even to where it is now and still. @MisfitCoach: I don't even want the wind blowing. Like nothing, nothing around it, nothing before it. Mm-hmm. @paige_semenza: like there's a lot of room for improvement. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. The buy-in was weird it was not the same ⁓ all levels. Like I actually it was cool to see all of the, I'm looking at the men's leaderboard right now and there were. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: like 20 people under 10 minutes. That's awesome. That's really cool. That's like very impressive. you to, if you were at that level, this was one of the ones where it was kind of flipped. If you were at that level, you were given permission to kind of get after it and see how much time you buy going into that. Because I would assume that we're looking at one to three sets. for all of those guys, somewhere in that range, probably mostly one to two. Which is cool to see if you're gonna go out there and do, you know, a seven minute, you know, seven minute 2K in a, you know, a 90 grace or something like that. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Crazy to think that like the hard thing used to be like 30 kipping handstand pushups in place of that. And now it's 30 strict and it's like, you keep it just for time or you make it like an AMRAP ⁓ for @MisfitCoach: Mm-hmm. Would have been a better workout. ⁓ fuck yeah. No. Well, I I will not ⁓ back to a spot where I'm saying that I would like just make these minor tweaks to these workouts. I throw most of them in the trash can, especially in relation to one another. Three of the workouts were fine, but not really together. They weren't. @paige_semenza: There's a lot of rowing. @MisfitCoach: yeah, there's, there's, puts ⁓ your to execute and end up in an okay spot after roughly 10 minutes of work, is a magnifying glass on GPP. Have you been doing your zone too? Can you clear waste on the row or have you done enough of that movement? that the pulling doesn't have like a huge effect on your pressing. movement is huge. I saw a lot of people out there. Doing a push press grace didn't end up doing that well with the handstand pushup stuff like that is like kind of confusing. Not sure what's going on there. So movement efficiency is a big part of it, but it was just a weird workout because so many people were scared of buy-in and then the people who shouldn't have been all messaged me said, I should have tried harder ⁓ before the handstand so. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: But then the funny thing is, so that is always a finer line than the competitive athlete knows because you then deliver that information to another athlete that decided to do it later on. it ends up just coming out in the wash. Like they go that little bit harder to buy them that extra time. And then instead of finishing the workout with like a set of four and a set of three, they ended up doing like a bunch of twos. ⁓ And they got one where they're like, they failed kicking off the wall. So a lot of times that reminds me of the old days where strategy and really simple workouts was like everything in the open. So you would do the open workout like three times and you would take wildly different routes to an extremely similar Right? Like I'm going through the mountains on this one. I'm going to paddle down the river on this one. And this one, I'm taking the highway very different routes. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. Yeah. @MisfitCoach: God, there's no way I got one more rep. Or like two seconds, that kind of thing. Yeah. @paige_semenza: worse. Yeah. I mean, I, that one. Payton specifically, we haven't been able to do a ton of pressing and like, obviously her, her pressing, like we struggle. She struggled with it in the past, but not being able to do a ton of it in like handstand pushup, like form because of her wrist. Like it was really but also like. giving her a simple cue of like, get your head to the mat faster and think about pressing with speed shaved off like almost 40 seconds on her second go on it. So like there are just simple things like that too. as far as cues can go. @MisfitCoach: I mean, I'm a little over six feet tall and I think half of my handstand pushup is pressing and half of it is like rebound. @paige_semenza: Yeah, right. Yeah, getting your head to that mat. @MisfitCoach: So most CrossFitters are smaller than that, meaning a whole lot of work that needs to be done. If you can understand how to manipulate it. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Yeah. She's probably like you. She's got long arms. @MisfitCoach: So we'll end, let's end with some positivity here. It's a lot of ranting, but I'm so happy with where the Misfit community is at specifically. You guys helped each other, you cheered each other on. You're celebrating each other now with where you finished. A lot of you are, are, are good enough to take the time when someone's down on themselves to have them go look at historical context and how much better they are getting and that that's what this road is. what was ⁓ from year in the spring. I felt like happened. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: Like we really, was last year was really odd for five or six different reasons. like last year was really odd to have the like, okay, there's no intermediate step and now we're going to go to 74 high level events and crash and burn. Um, so to have that again, makes me feel like we're back on the right track for again. @paige_semenza: Yeah. @MisfitCoach: a larger subsection of the community. But man. That bubble semi-final in-person semi-finals athlete, that person trying to get their first bid to the CrossFit Games has been screwed. And I cannot tell you how important that person is. What they do their community, what they do at the affiliate level to rise people up, what they do in each training camp to all of the people that are following the program, that are following it because they do ⁓ because they're making it and because they're getting invites to these things. @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: like They're like middle class of CrossFit and being forgotten ⁓ and is a huge mistake. It is such a massive mistake. And we're going to see some of the people that are even above that not really get a chance to play. And I think those people are probably going to be the ones that help make the change because you can't guess who that next athlete is going to be if they don't get a shot, right? If they don't get an opportunity, we're never going to know. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Right. @MisfitCoach: So there's gonna be a few athletes who are like very clearly should be part of the system that aren't that will help put a magnifying glass on it. But to all of those people that are out there, I feel bad for you because you might've done everything right this year and you will not get an opportunity to show it off. And that's such a fucking bummer. @paige_semenza: Right. Yeah. hope that it like @MisfitCoach: Did we end on a positive note? What did I do there? @paige_semenza: He kind of did. do, I do like, you know, regardless of what the workouts were, I can still speak to like, there's excitement coming out of it as far as like knowing what athletes want to work on and need to work on. Like, so I think for those that like have quarterfinals be their Superbowl, like I think it did its job in that sense of like, All right. I know what I'm going to do in the off season. Like it's given direction. And I like that. like, I like when there's structure that's easy see. @MisfitCoach: Yep, that's fair. All right, we're going to end it on definitely a more fun note. Coaches are people too. Paige, do you want to go first or you want me to go first? Cool. @paige_semenza: Um, I'll go first. It's all about my, my tiny little humans again. Um, we did little Easter weekend. So I did quarter finals at a different gym here cause we're not an affiliate. Um, but I got to break that up with some Easter bunny, like Easter eggs, go get some candy, um, go get some ice cream with the kids. And, um, so just family time, you know, my mom came. I yeah, I was sat on. @MisfitCoach: Hell yeah. Love that. ⁓ cool. Nice. @paige_semenza: Yeah, I sat on Friday and she knew that and she drove two hours watch me work out for eight minutes and then she went home because she had to take my aunt to bingo. I know she is the goat, so she definitely deserves it. @MisfitCoach: Of course she did. She's the goat. Yep. You notice, don't think I've ever told you this, but I... There was a stretch where I was like a little bit intimidated by your mom because I didn't get, I didn't get to spend any time with her because of, because of just where and when I would need to be. I'd have to be at this region and I'd have to be over here during this other athletes thing. she just brought like, she brought the heat and the energy to like every conversation. And then I would say in the last like three years or so. ⁓ @paige_semenza: by Joanne. Yeah Yeah. Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: Like I've got to watch a lot of CrossFit with her and like, she's a great conversationalist, but there was definitely like a stretch where I was like, Whoa, like maybe she's, maybe she's like super intense. ⁓ no, not at all. ⁓ yeah. She is the best. She's awesome. @paige_semenza: Yeah. Hehehehehe! Not at all. She's just the best. I love her. She deserves I definitely don't put it out there a whole ton, but she is she's my backbone. That's for sure. @MisfitCoach: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. She's I've met a lot of incredible people, a lot of supportive people over the years. not is she on the rush more, she might be of the like, she might be the top one. cause unfortunately we get the exact opposite examples from some people ⁓ that are so when you cross paths with somebody that's like that, it's pretty awesome. ⁓ @paige_semenza: Yeah. V. true. Yeah, she's a standout. @MisfitCoach: Okay. This one, I don't want to offend. that's not true. ⁓ don't really care ⁓ I offend you with this. So I ⁓ a typical neighborhood, affluent community in grand Junction, Colorado. We're renting a house right now while our house is being built. And I growing up ⁓ ⁓ teenage boy. in Maine and also in suburbia you kind of chose your outlet was either drugs or vandalism and yeah and ⁓ most most of the guys listen to this podcast and know exactly what i'm talking about ⁓ and you your levels of each there's you know there's a spectrum but i chose the vandalism crowd @paige_semenza: Yeah @MisfitCoach: They much more interesting to me. The, the drug crew were the like in the honors classes that pretended they had to like put on the facade of the like, you know, the popular kid vibe. And I played sports with them and everything, but there was a, there was a fakeness to them. And then on the other side of the tracks were my friends, who coaches and like principals used to be like, what are you doing with these people? @paige_semenza: Mm-hmm. @MisfitCoach: I'm like, you want me over there doing drugs with Johnny? Like, come on. We're just lighting stuff on fire in a parking lot. It's not a big deal. But that part of me is being stoked like almost every house in this neighborhood, and there are hundreds of houses, have signs about dog peeing or pooping on their lawn. And a lot of them say, you're on camera. If I lived in this neighborhood while I was a teenager, there would be poop everywhere. @paige_semenza: be on every camera. @MisfitCoach: I would get every poop bag in the woods I would put it all, don't, this, it's just like, it's like peak privilege that like your number one problem is a dog, ⁓ your dog can't, my dog can't piss on your lawn. Like if we're taking a walk and the dog like lifts their leg and is pee, it's pee. @paige_semenza: Yeah. What am I gonna do? Right. @MisfitCoach: I just, don't know what the, I don't know what the deal is. can't wrap my mind around it. I'm like, you guys need, I need to round up some hoodlums. I I gotta go find my people and just be like, all right, let's get the slingshot going. Maybe I've watched trailer park boys too many times. But I just, I don't know. You guys tell me, I need, I need in telegram, I need you guys to let me know. A, you, like, you have one of those signs? If you do. Man, you got a lot of explain. I don't understand. Like how much poop is on your lawn that is not related to you that you have to find a sign to put out there and point a camera at it. I just, can't. I don't understand. Tell me, you guys tell me if I'm crazy, if it gets so bad, if your life is so hard that there's a turd on your lawn and you just can't handle it. Yeah, I don't know. I just, every time I go for a walk, there's more of them. @paige_semenza: Sorry if you do. @MisfitCoach: there's more of the signs. I don't know if it's like group think, there's like two, like, cause everyone had one of those angry people in their neighborhood. You know what I mean? But like everyone. @paige_semenza: Listen, I think you're, you're going to have, there's going to be another shirt about this. You're going to be like, I know. ⁓ going to create something. @MisfitCoach: I'm gonna, I'm gonna find a way for the, I'm gonna create a shirt that is the opposite of that. Just says piss and shit on my lawn whenever you'd like. I gotta, we're gonna workshop that a little bit. We're gonna workshop that a little bit. There's no cameras here. Do whatever you want on my lawn. I don't know. That to me is just peak. Like you guys need bigger problems. Like this is nuts. Can't handle it. @paige_semenza: that's what I mean. ⁓ Yeah Welcome to Drew's ranting podcast 2026. @MisfitCoach: Yeah. Yep. I feel pretty good about it. I feel pretty good about it. I don't like, I like people that like haters all the time and putting the negative energy out into the world. Like I just, those are the people that don't want the solutions. Like I truly do want all of this to be better. I truly hope that you don't have so much shit on your lawn, that it ruins your day. but man, every once a while. @paige_semenza: I'm glad it's out of your system. @MisfitCoach: It just boils over and we got to talk about it. @paige_semenza: It's fair. @MisfitCoach: Did we do it? @paige_semenza: We did it. @MisfitCoach: Thank you for tuning into another episode of the podcast.
