- 2:10Speaker 2: And uh this week's out of the town feature is
- 2:12Speaker 2: nightmare on elm street and what you're currently listening to
- 2:16Speaker 2: i'm about to unveil on the crew here um This is,
- 2:19Speaker 2: once again, while rummaging around through things, I find all
- 2:22Speaker 2: kinds of crazy shit. Luckily, and once again, coincidentally for
- 2:25Speaker 2: this week's show, I came across my original issue, Freddy's
- 2:29Speaker 2: Greatest Hits on Vinyl here.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Oh, my. That's amazing. He'd like to peruse me. Look
- 2:35Speaker 5: at his face.
- 2:36Speaker 10: Does he do any rapping?
- 2:37Speaker 5: Look at the back. The back is the best. What
- 2:40Speaker 5: is with that move?
- 2:42Speaker 11: This is the coolest thing you own.
- 2:44Speaker 6: Okay.
- 2:45Speaker 5: We've got to put this on the website.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 2: So, yeah, we're going to, I think, do nothing. But, yeah, see,
- 2:52Speaker 2: I think we're going out with Do the Freddy. It's
- 2:53Speaker 2: pretty classically bad. I'm going to let you guys pick
- 2:57Speaker 2: the next two in between now and then. So start
- 3:00Speaker 2: thinking about it. There's, let's see.
- 3:02Speaker 12: I'm going to have both.
- 3:02Speaker 11: Is there going to be a superhero fan?
- 3:03Speaker 10: Well, there's only about, let's.
- 3:07Speaker 2: See, there's only about five other ones we can throw
- 3:09Speaker 2: out there.
- 3:09Speaker 10: That's amazing.
- 3:11Speaker 11: I want to join the Freddy fan club.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Can we do that?
- 3:13Speaker 2: I think I did, actually. I know I ordered, because
- 3:15Speaker 2: there was a little flyer that came in with that,
- 3:17Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure I ordered the t-shirt that came
- 3:19Speaker 2: off of there.
- 3:19Speaker 13: See, I don't know what it is. The old Freddy still,
- 3:21Speaker 13: to me, looks better than the new one. The new
- 3:24Speaker 13: one just does not look good.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Which I guess we'll get into in a minute.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So, to continue on, but yeah, I had to bust
- 3:31Speaker 2: that out, and I figure that will be our music
- 3:33Speaker 2: for this episode, even though... The vocals on this album
- 3:36Speaker 2: are provided by Robert England, of course, who is not
- 3:38Speaker 2: in any way, shape, or form affiliated with this movie.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I don't really care. We're geeks. We mesh things together
- 3:43Speaker 2: in no big mess. So that's what we're going to do.
- 3:45Speaker 2: So that will be our theme music for the evening.
- 3:48Speaker 11: Awesome. Good.
- 3:49Speaker 5: All right.
- 3:50Speaker 2: So this week is Nightmare on Elm Street. A year
- 3:53Speaker 2: is 2010 since we just went to the theater and
- 3:54Speaker 2: saw it. Director Samuel Bayer, the plot, as they put
- 3:59Speaker 2: it on IMDb, A reimagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger,
- 4:03Speaker 2: a serial killer who wields a glove with four blades
- 4:05Speaker 2: embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams,
- 4:08Speaker 2: resulting in their real death in reality, which isn't that redundant.
- 4:12Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Nice wording, IMDb. So, we'll throw out a big spoiler
- 4:20Speaker 2: alert right here, because it's a brand new movie, and
- 4:22Speaker 2: we're probably going to go well into what the hell's
- 4:25Speaker 2: going on. Is it really a spoiler?
- 4:27Speaker 12: Because, I mean, really, it's the same thing that happened
- 4:29Speaker 12: in the first movie, like 20 some odd years ago.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Mostly.
- 4:32Speaker 2: There were a few changes. Not so many, but okay,
- 4:35Speaker 2: go ahead. So, where would you like to begin on
- 4:38Speaker 2: Nightcrown Elm Street?
- 4:39Speaker 12: I was not happy with this movie for many different reasons.
- 4:41Speaker 12: It was fun at some points. At some points, it
- 4:44Speaker 12: was fun. As long as you had never seen the
- 4:46Speaker 12: first one, maybe?
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I had a little reaction to that.
- 4:50Speaker 10: I still think we should have seen this on Dixie Highway.
- 4:54Speaker 13: It would have been a lot more entertaining with the
- 4:56Speaker 13: people yelling at the screen.
- 4:57Speaker 12: Now you've got to wait until Dollar Night.
- 4:59Speaker 13: Yeah, Dollar Night would have been a lot more fun.
- 5:02Speaker 5: To get the full advantage of the drunken debauchery.
- 5:07Speaker 11: I really like the movie, personally.
- 5:10Speaker 12: I was not a big fan of this Freddie. I mean,
- 5:12Speaker 12: I wanted to like him because I liked that guy
- 5:14Speaker 12: in other stuff, but I did not like, I didn't
- 5:17Speaker 12: like the makeup. I didn't like the way he looked.
- 5:18Speaker 12: I didn't like the way he sounded. I didn't like
- 5:20Speaker 12: the way he was written. His lines were just retarded,
- 5:23Speaker 12: which is, you know, yeah, they were retarded in the
- 5:24Speaker 12: original one, but still at least Robert Englund was awesome
- 5:27Speaker 12: enough to be able to pull them off. It was just,
- 5:29Speaker 12: it fell flat.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And I was just, That is something I was surprised with,
- 5:33Speaker 2: because everybody kept saying, you know, oh, you know, Robert
- 5:36Speaker 2: Englund's Freddy got so cheesy, and this one's going to
- 5:38Speaker 2: be dark, and this one's not going to be all
- 5:39Speaker 2: the quippy one-liners. And I was like, many times in
- 5:42Speaker 2: this movie, it gets pretty one-liner.
- 5:44Speaker 12: But he couldn't pull them off.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, he doesn't have the charisma that Robert Englund did
- 5:49Speaker 2: in the makeup.
- 5:50Speaker 12: Like, I mean, I'm sure even Robert Englund could have
- 5:51Speaker 12: pulled off the cheesy, I was just petting him line.
- 5:54Speaker 12: Not this guy.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Stupid. Yeah, there's several of those that were like, wow,
- 5:59Speaker 2: that was... that was just really cheesy and it didn't
- 6:02Speaker 2: yeah he just didn't have the fun with it to
- 6:05Speaker 2: pull it off they just kind of fall flat when
- 6:07Speaker 2: he does.
- 6:08Speaker 12: Them I didn't like the makeup I thought the original
- 6:11Speaker 12: 1984 makeup looked a hell of a lot better yeah
- 6:15Speaker 12: maybe not realistic exactly I don't care.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Though it's a movie I don't need realism I.
- 6:19Speaker 11: Definitely like the original Freddie's makeup a.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Lot better yeah and I think the problem was number
- 6:25Speaker 2: one they tried to change it and make it realistic
- 6:26Speaker 2: but the other problem is Jackie Earl Haley's face And
- 6:30Speaker 2: I'm not complaining. I actually like him in the real world,
- 6:32Speaker 2: but I'm saying the mixture of the two makes it
- 6:34Speaker 2: look weird. Like, he looks like an alien.
- 6:37Speaker 10: Yeah, he does.
- 6:37Speaker 12: He does.
- 6:38Speaker 5: He looks real smooth. Like, his face is cratered and stuff,
- 6:41Speaker 5: but it almost has this smoothness to it.
- 6:44Speaker 2: It's the nose area. They gave him this big, wide
- 6:46Speaker 2: area in the middle that looks like some sort of
- 6:48Speaker 2: weird alien.
- 6:49Speaker 5: Like the beast.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, like some sort of, yeah. It just doesn't look right.
- 6:55Speaker 11: Am I the only one that thinks Jackie Earl Haley
- 6:57Speaker 11: is creepy enough outside of the makeup?
- 7:00Speaker 12: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I mean, he was easily creepier in the flashbacks.
- 7:04Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 7:06Speaker 11: I definitely thought. I was like, oh, freckles.
- 7:08Speaker 5: Freckles.
- 7:10Speaker 10: Freckles.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Well, he obviously had, like, you know, bad acne or
- 7:14Speaker 5: something when he was younger.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:15Speaker 5: So he's got those pockmarks and craters and scars.
- 7:18Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 5: Or, I don't know, maybe Chipper Shredder just hit my face.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Well, even as a kid, he wasn't a cute kid.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I mean, he was a good actor when he was
- 7:26Speaker 2: a little kid. He grew up and kind of disappeared
- 7:29Speaker 2: and got scarier looking as he got older. And now
- 7:31Speaker 2: he's sort of using that to his advantage. I mean,
- 7:33Speaker 2: he's playing every villain in all the movies now, but.
- 7:36Speaker 11: He wasn't a villain in The Watchmen. Rorschach wasn't really.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Rorschach's kind of a villain. I mean, you know, for
- 7:41Speaker 2: a superhero, he's pretty close to a villain.
- 7:44Speaker 11: Kind of a vigilante villain.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, he certainly doesn't really play by anybody's rules.
- 7:49Speaker 12: I don't think they overdid the makeup. They were trying
- 7:52Speaker 12: so hard for realism that it just became fake in
- 7:55Speaker 12: how real they were trying to make it.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:56Speaker 5: I don't know. I think there are parts... I thought
- 7:59Speaker 5: the makeup was really good. Like, it almost... Seemed like
- 8:02Speaker 5: you could see into his cheek a couple times to
- 8:06Speaker 5: where just that meatiness.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 5: I thought it was really good, but not so much
- 8:12Speaker 5: a burn victim. Maybe a burn victim who's been picking
- 8:15Speaker 5: at his scabs constantly. Or one that got skin grafts. Oh, yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 5: He's already got skin grafts.
- 8:23Speaker 13: Whereas the old Freddy looks like he got burned and
- 8:25Speaker 13: his flesh got ripped off.
- 8:26Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 10: It was a lot scarier. Not that Nightmare was scared,
- 8:31Speaker 10: but he looked freakier.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Well, the first one was.
- 8:34Speaker 5: The first one was, and that's the one thing that
- 8:37Speaker 5: I was excited for, just seeing the commercials, that the
- 8:40Speaker 5: first one... First one is, it's creepy. It's really, you know,
- 8:44Speaker 5: it's really creepy. And still even nowadays it holds up to, like,
- 8:47Speaker 5: give me chills.
- 8:48Speaker 12: Like, ugh.
- 8:49Speaker 5: But this was not in any way, shape, or form.
- 8:53Speaker 5: I liked how they kind of kept the whole body
- 8:55Speaker 5: bag in the dream sequence in the school.
- 8:58Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Because that part was really fucking creepy in the first one.
- 9:02Speaker 11: The thing I liked about this one is that they
- 9:04Speaker 11: kept my favorite scenes. The body bag scene, the scene
- 9:06Speaker 11: where she's walking and her feet sink through the stairs.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Stink, yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 11: And then also the scene where, the part I didn't like,
- 9:13Speaker 11: the scene where he comes, his face comes out of
- 9:15Speaker 11: the wall.
- 9:16Speaker 5: It was too CGI.
- 9:17Speaker 2: That looked terrible.
- 9:18Speaker 5: It was terrible.
- 9:19Speaker 2: It looks so good in the original.
- 9:20Speaker 12: That was my response to it. After watching it, I
- 9:22Speaker 12: saw it. I was like, oh my God, that's horrible.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Yes. No.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:26Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 12: And I was just like, it wasn't bad enough that
- 9:30Speaker 12: he was coming through the wall when they actually put
- 9:32Speaker 12: his face on there.
- 9:33Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm pretty sure we can figure out who
- 9:35Speaker 2: it is. You don't have to change it to the
- 9:37Speaker 2: right color and everything. We're at Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 9:40Speaker 2: We're pretty sure it's Freddy coming through the wall. But
- 9:44Speaker 2: it's funny that you guys like that, because that was
- 9:46Speaker 2: one of my least favorite things about this version, was
- 9:49Speaker 2: that they kept all that stuff in. I really, and
- 9:52Speaker 2: I say this about a lot of cheesy remakes, I
- 9:54Speaker 2: wish they would just take a really light version of
- 9:57Speaker 2: the story and just go their own way, and I
- 9:59Speaker 2: think this one almost stuck too close to trying to
- 10:01Speaker 2: hit all the big famous marks from the last one.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It's like, well, we've got to work the body bag in,
- 10:06Speaker 2: and we've got to.
- 10:08Speaker 10: Work the flying bed scene.
- 10:09Speaker 5: But I'm surprised that they didn't do the pulling, like,
- 10:12Speaker 5: you know, into the bed. The Johnny Depp scene.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Which, I mean, they still kind of did their tribute
- 10:19Speaker 2: to it yeah they kind of went backwards but you
- 10:22Speaker 2: know they still did their little tribute to it but
- 10:24Speaker 2: in a way I was just like it's almost like
- 10:26Speaker 2: they were working too hard to hit those like these
- 10:28Speaker 2: are the really famous scenes we've got to work these
- 10:30Speaker 2: in that's.
- 10:31Speaker 12: What people want to see they have a certain preconceived
- 10:33Speaker 12: notion as to what should be in the movie and
- 10:35Speaker 12: they're like.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Yeah but people are stupid that's my problem yeah People
- 10:40Speaker 2: need to just not be so lame.
- 10:43Speaker 12: But people are comfortable with that. They want to stay
- 10:45Speaker 12: in their comfort zone. They're like, well, people love this
- 10:47Speaker 12: the first time. If we put them to like this,
- 10:49Speaker 12: they're going to want.
- 10:49Speaker 11: To do that.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But I think that's bullshit. I wish they would just
- 10:52Speaker 2: make a good movie of their own. You can take
- 10:54Speaker 2: this basic idea. Because, I mean, there's a hell of
- 10:57Speaker 2: a lot of potential there. It's like all you have
- 10:59Speaker 2: to do is once you enter the dream world, you
- 11:01Speaker 2: can do fucking anything. So, I mean, really, they've got
- 11:04Speaker 2: unlimited ways that they could take this and and they
- 11:07Speaker 2: stick really close, and it's almost like they do start
- 11:10Speaker 2: to stray off here and there, but it's like they
- 11:11Speaker 2: have to make a U-turn sometimes to get back to,
- 11:14Speaker 2: oh wait, we gotta work this scene in. So I
- 11:17Speaker 2: almost wish they would've strayed further away from that, because
- 11:20Speaker 2: when it got to the body bag scene, or when
- 11:21Speaker 2: it got to the flipping around in the bed scene,
- 11:23Speaker 2: I just watched the other one the night before and
- 11:25Speaker 2: I'm like, I've already seen these. And not, I've just
- 11:27Speaker 2: seen these the night before. It's just like, these are familiar. Like,
- 11:30Speaker 2: I've already seen this. If you're, you know, you only
- 11:33Speaker 2: get a chance to make so many movies, Mr.
- 11:35Speaker 11: Director.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You know, it's like you only get a chance to
- 11:37Speaker 2: do so much. Why take something... We've already seen almost
- 11:40Speaker 2: shot for shot only make it a little worse in
- 11:43Speaker 2: some cases because I didn't even like the flipping around
- 11:45Speaker 2: in the bed scene. I think that's ridiculous and overdone.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It was really creepy the first time because there's very
- 11:51Speaker 2: little to it. And then she flips around and then
- 11:54Speaker 2: she hits up on the ceiling and is like calling
- 11:56Speaker 2: out to him. And the first one is like disturbing
- 11:58Speaker 2: and weird. This looks like fucking gymnastics.
- 12:01Speaker 5: And the blood I think was a lot better in
- 12:03Speaker 5: the first one too to where like when he like
- 12:06Speaker 5: dug his claws it was almost like And she hit
- 12:08Speaker 5: the bed. It was almost like an explosion to where
- 12:11Speaker 5: this was just kind of like a leaking. It was
- 12:13Speaker 5: just kind of like.
- 12:16Speaker 13: I don't know.
- 12:16Speaker 5: She's leaking. It wasn't as dramatic in the right way
- 12:22Speaker 5: as it was in the first movie, I feel.
- 12:24Speaker 13: I will give it props on its dream sequences, though.
- 12:28Speaker 13: I mean, the visuals in it were good, I thought.
- 12:31Speaker 13: The transfers between dreams and the way... Yeah, I mean,
- 12:35Speaker 13: it's pretty close to the way my head works, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 13: when you're in one spot, and then all of a sudden, bam, you're.
- 12:40Speaker 10: In another spot, and you're like, what the hell?
- 12:42Speaker 2: Which the first one did that, too, but this one
- 12:44Speaker 2: did a really good version of that. They did a
- 12:46Speaker 2: really good version.
- 12:47Speaker 13: Of that, and there were a lot of good, just
- 12:49Speaker 13: the backgrounds, the visuals were great, but, you know, like
- 12:52Speaker 13: you said, it's all... These were all shocks that have
- 12:56Speaker 13: already been done. We've already seen them try to shock
- 12:59Speaker 13: us in a new way. Once we see her rolling
- 13:02Speaker 13: around on the ceiling, you're like.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh, we already know what's going to happen.
- 13:05Speaker 13: He's going to claw us to the chest, and then
- 13:07Speaker 13: the other guy's going to run out the room, and
- 13:09Speaker 13: he's going to get blamed for it.
- 13:11Speaker 10: We already know this.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 10: So do something different. Do something that's going to, you know,
- 13:15Speaker 10: catch us off guard.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Like have a mini Freddy jump out of her chest
- 13:18Speaker 5: and run around. And then there's like a mini Freddy
- 13:20Speaker 5: in reality that they have to deal with.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Wasn't that like five or six? I thought by the
- 13:24Speaker 2: time they hit dream child, he had a mini Freddy.
- 13:26Speaker 11: Was it?
- 13:27Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure. I think there was.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Oh my God. Now I have to go back and
- 13:30Speaker 5: watch it. That sounds awesome.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Oh man.
- 13:34Speaker 11: I think the reason that I like this movie, um,
- 13:37Speaker 11: I know we were talking earlier about how they try
- 13:39Speaker 11: to give backstories to villains and make them seem like
- 13:41Speaker 11: they're not villains. And I was kind of pissed at
- 13:44Speaker 11: a certain point in the movie they kind of did
- 13:46Speaker 11: that because at the point when the parents told the kids... Like,
- 13:50Speaker 11: the teenagers didn't remember that and they thought that the
- 13:53Speaker 11: parents had just, like, misconstrued what they said and he
- 13:56Speaker 11: was coming back to get them because they lied. And
- 13:59Speaker 11: at that point of the movie, I was just like, oh,
- 14:00Speaker 11: fuck this movie. But at the end, when they find
- 14:03Speaker 11: out that he's coming to get them because.
- 14:07Speaker 12: They weren't lying, not.
- 14:08Speaker 11: Because they were. And they still gave Freddy a little
- 14:12Speaker 11: bit of backstory when they chased him into the warehouse
- 14:15Speaker 11: and set it on fire and stuff like that. I
- 14:18Speaker 11: thought it was just enough to make the movie, for
- 14:22Speaker 11: it to make sense. They didn't overdo it and over
- 14:25Speaker 11: try to make you Oh, poor Freddy. He just misunderstood.
- 14:29Speaker 10: Yeah, that's kind of what I was afraid of.
- 14:31Speaker 13: Because I saw that part in there where he was
- 14:33Speaker 13: kind of like watching the previews.
- 14:35Speaker 5: Where he's like, I didn't do anything.
- 14:36Speaker 10: And I was like, oh, my God, you got to
- 14:38Speaker 10: be kidding me. I mean, he did do something. I mean,
- 14:42Speaker 10: come on.
- 14:43Speaker 13: So when they do finally get to that point, you're like, yeah, yeah, see, see,
- 14:46Speaker 13: I told you. But still, even with the new Freddy,
- 14:49Speaker 13: and even though you find out all the stuff, it
- 14:52Speaker 13: doesn't make him as likable as the old Freddy.
- 14:55Speaker 10: For some reason, you knew the old Freddy was evil.
- 14:57Speaker 12: But he had charisma.
- 14:58Speaker 13: But he had charisma, and it made you like him.
- 15:00Speaker 13: And you didn't care if he was killing teenagers or not, because...
- 15:03Speaker 13: More than likely, if you're most of the geeks like
- 15:05Speaker 13: we were, you were sitting around going, yeah, take that.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 2: You were siding with it.
- 15:09Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Especially in the sequels. I mean, by the time you
- 15:12Speaker 2: hit four and on, you're just there to watch him
- 15:15Speaker 2: hack up teenagers.
- 15:16Speaker 5: You want them all to die.
- 15:17Speaker 2: The first one, you don't feel that way. You know,
- 15:19Speaker 2: the Heather Lander camp is a good main character. You
- 15:21Speaker 2: like her. You're on her side. You like Johnny Depp.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You know, you're on their side, but... By the time
- 15:26Speaker 2: he becomes the hero of the movie, he is what
- 15:29Speaker 2: you're there for, and you're there to watch him hack
- 15:32Speaker 2: up these annoying kids. So they make the kids more
- 15:34Speaker 2: annoying and more ridiculous.
- 15:36Speaker 10: As they go on.
- 15:37Speaker 11: Well, also another thing that I liked about this movie,
- 15:41Speaker 11: in the original, it was more like the kids were
- 15:44Speaker 11: paying for what the parents did. The kids weren't necessarily involved. Like,
- 15:49Speaker 11: Freddy didn't have a hand in hurting them so much.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 11: But in this one, Freddy had.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I do.
- 15:55Speaker 11: He was after them and not.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Specifically, those kids. Like, they've got the photo. He's icing
- 16:01Speaker 2: them in order of, you know, whoever he wanted to. Yeah. So, it...
- 16:05Speaker 2: I do like that. And that was what I was
- 16:07Speaker 2: going to say on the, on the, what I, you know,
- 16:09Speaker 2: I went through some of the things I didn't like,
- 16:10Speaker 2: what I did like was sort of the mystery aspect
- 16:13Speaker 2: of it. They do enter into that like middle hour
- 16:15Speaker 2: there that becomes, you know, the two of them sort
- 16:18Speaker 2: of trying to track down all the facts and trying
- 16:20Speaker 2: to backtrack and figure out where, you know, how come
- 16:23Speaker 2: we don't know about this, you know, this school that
- 16:25Speaker 2: we went to and where are all these other kids that,
- 16:27Speaker 2: you know, have disappeared. And, So I like that angle.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I think, again, I think that's what it should have
- 16:32Speaker 2: focused more on is quit trying to hit all these
- 16:35Speaker 2: specific scenes that we've seen before. And focus more on
- 16:38Speaker 2: that and just go somewhere else. Just take that story
- 16:40Speaker 2: and run with it. Because, like, the scene in the drugstore,
- 16:45Speaker 2: that was a whole new thing. I kind of like that.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He's attacking her in the middle of the drugstore. Shit's
- 16:49Speaker 2: getting knocked off on the shelf. So it's like he's
- 16:51Speaker 2: sort of crossing over into the real world at that
- 16:53Speaker 2: point with her. That was sort of an original thing.
- 16:56Speaker 2: And then, you know, they get sort of off track
- 16:59Speaker 2: after that.
- 16:59Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I didn't even mind when they end up in the
- 17:03Speaker 2: cave and they learn more. That was kind of cool, too,
- 17:06Speaker 2: because it ties to that story that you were saying.
- 17:09Speaker 2: It's like him sort of getting even with these kids
- 17:11Speaker 2: for basically selling them down the river. And they are
- 17:15Speaker 2: the reason he is the way that he is. So
- 17:17Speaker 2: it does make more sense. And it's more directly related
- 17:21Speaker 2: to the kids versus the original.
- 17:22Speaker 11: Yeah, that's what I liked about it.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I did like that part.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Nice.
- 17:27Speaker 12: I like for the most part that kids weren't incredibly
- 17:29Speaker 12: obnoxious in this movie.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 12: Aside from the boyfriend. He kind of wanted him to
- 17:33Speaker 12: die just because he seemed like an asshole.
- 17:35Speaker 2: The one that went to prison?
- 17:37Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he was a douche.
- 17:38Speaker 12: He was kind of an asshole. For the most part,
- 17:39Speaker 12: I didn't hate the kids in this movie. Like, I
- 17:42Speaker 12: like Katie Cassidy. She's adorable. She's David Cassidy's daughter, and
- 17:45Speaker 12: she was in Harper's Island, which I loved. So I
- 17:48Speaker 12: like her.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Can we talk about the blonde, though? What was the
- 17:50Speaker 2: blonde's name?
- 17:51Speaker 12: Katie Cassidy? Like the main blonde?
- 17:53Speaker 2: Yeah, the first one.
- 17:53Speaker 12: Chris?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Died, Chris.
- 17:54Speaker 12: Yeah, Katie Cassidy.
- 17:55Speaker 2: How old is she?
- 17:57Speaker 12: Is she mid-20s?
- 17:59Speaker 2: She looks it. As they're sitting in high school, I
- 18:01Speaker 2: was like, isn't that chick 30? Like, what the hell
- 18:03Speaker 2: is she doing in high school?
- 18:04Speaker 5: She was one of the ones that definitely did not
- 18:06Speaker 5: fit that.
- 18:07Speaker 2: She didn't. Like, I mean, Beaver can almost still pull
- 18:09Speaker 2: off high school. But I'm just like, that chick was
- 18:12Speaker 2: just like, dude, seriously. Like, when she stood up next
- 18:15Speaker 2: to her mom, I was like, what'd you do as
- 18:17Speaker 2: the mom?
- 18:18Speaker 5: I was like, she.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Looks as old as her mom.
- 18:20Speaker 12: But I still liked her.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't dislike her.
- 18:22Speaker 12: And it wasn't overly distracting that she was, I mean,
- 18:25Speaker 12: it was noticeable. It wasn't like over to the point
- 18:27Speaker 12: where like, no, this fuck is me.
- 18:28Speaker 5: But I mean.
- 18:30Speaker 12: How is Beaver getting these roles? I'm sorry.
- 18:32Speaker 11: You can't make horror movies without him anymore. But I
- 18:35Speaker 11: don't understand because he's.
- 18:36Speaker 12: Not really attractive.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I like him though.
- 18:38Speaker 11: He was really cute in Veronica Mars but he's just
- 18:40Speaker 11: gotten like ugly.
- 18:42Speaker 12: He had a little mustache, too, that really creeped me out.
- 18:45Speaker 11: A crustache?
- 18:46Speaker 5: It was very strange. The rape stache.
- 18:48Speaker 12: But it's like, how does he keep getting these roles?
- 18:50Speaker 10: Who the hell are you talking about?
- 18:52Speaker 5: Beaver.
- 18:53Speaker 10: The Johnny Depp kid. The one that lives through.
- 18:55Speaker 2: The whole story, basically. Oh, that kid?
- 18:57Speaker 12: Yeah. He was Beaver and Veronica Mars.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I like him. I mean, as a character, he's... He's okay.
- 19:02Speaker 10: He's a tolerable character.
- 19:03Speaker 12: But he's not... For the most part, actors are supposed
- 19:07Speaker 12: to be like... and you put him on the wall.
- 19:11Speaker 2: You'd think it'd be the boyfriend who got that role,
- 19:12Speaker 2: because he's the pretty boy, the one that went to prison.
- 19:15Speaker 12: No, the pretty, pretty boy was Kellen Lutz, who got
- 19:17Speaker 12: killed off in the first, like, ten minutes.
- 19:19Speaker 2: The one in the diner?
- 19:20Speaker 12: Yeah, he was from fucking Twilight. You're going to kill
- 19:22Speaker 12: him off in the first ten minutes?
- 19:24Speaker 2: Whatever. I'm trying to think what he reminded me of.
- 19:27Speaker 12: He's a dracula he should have got killed off that
- 19:29Speaker 12: soon yeah but um still i liked him i mean i.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Didn't i'm so i was surprised they offed him as
- 19:35Speaker 2: quick as they did because i thought they were setting
- 19:36Speaker 2: him up to be sort of you know carrying the
- 19:38Speaker 2: story and i thought he would make it about to
- 19:41Speaker 2: win the blonde you know comes in it.
- 19:43Speaker 12: Was one of the bigger names in it like i
- 19:44Speaker 12: said after just gotten off twilight you figured he'd have.
- 19:46Speaker 11: More he didn't have enough time one thing that I
- 19:49Speaker 11: do like about The Nightmare on the Middle Streets, they
- 19:52Speaker 11: set you up to follow someone who you think is
- 19:55Speaker 11: the main character and you're going to be following throughout
- 19:58Speaker 11: the movie.
- 19:58Speaker 12: Like with Chris.
- 20:00Speaker 11: And she dies.
- 20:00Speaker 5: I like that.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They did change gears like three times right off the bat.
- 20:04Speaker 2: It's like we think it's the guy, but you kind
- 20:06Speaker 2: of can see him getting taken. But you do sort
- 20:08Speaker 2: of follow the Chris girl for a good amount of time.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Like longer than... Cause watching the original last night, that's
- 20:13Speaker 2: what I forgot was how quick we offer. Like, I mean,
- 20:16Speaker 2: you get maybe a couple of scenes and in the
- 20:18Speaker 2: first 15 minutes she's gone and it switches gears and
- 20:21Speaker 2: you follow Heather the rest of the movie.
- 20:23Speaker 12: I mean, I've liked that ever since Psycho.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 12: There haven't been quite enough movies for me where it's
- 20:27Speaker 12: like the work, work actually catches you off guard because
- 20:29Speaker 12: you find you're actually invested in this character and then,
- 20:32Speaker 12: Oh wait, shit, they're dead. Now what?
- 20:36Speaker 2: That's an interesting way to do a storyline, and a
- 20:39Speaker 2: lot of Hollywood stuff doesn't want to do that because
- 20:43Speaker 2: it wants to have its bankable actor and it doesn't
- 20:46Speaker 2: think the audience is smart enough to change gears like
- 20:48Speaker 2: that and follow.
- 20:49Speaker 10: A new one.
- 20:49Speaker 2: They're usually not. Yeah, they aren't really, which is funny.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I like the little flashback scene we see where they
- 20:56Speaker 2: chase him into the warehouse, but I've noticed how many
- 20:58Speaker 2: movies do that now where they'll have the character like,
- 21:01Speaker 2: have some sort of, like, they're in the flashback. They're
- 21:04Speaker 2: standing there watching it, but nobody sees them. And I
- 21:06Speaker 2: think it's just an excuse to be able to full-on
- 21:08Speaker 2: show you the entire scene of the flashback because we're
- 21:11Speaker 2: too dumb to piece the story together. And it's probably
- 21:15Speaker 2: necessary for a lot of people, but... I just think
- 21:18Speaker 2: it's funny because I see that a lot in movies now.
- 21:20Speaker 12: It gave us more of a chance to see Clancy Brown.
- 21:22Speaker 12: I love me some Clancy Brown. He should be in everything.
- 21:24Speaker 10: Who's Clancy Brown?
- 21:25Speaker 2: He was in Carnival.
- 21:25Speaker 12: The dad.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Oh, Brother Justin. Yes.
- 21:28Speaker 11: Yeah, I loved him. He was also in Lost.
- 21:30Speaker 12: Also in Highlander.
- 21:31Speaker 11: Yep, that's true. He's been in a lot of awesome,
- 21:34Speaker 11: awesome stuff.
- 21:36Speaker 12: And some bad stuff too.
- 21:37Speaker 2: What the hell are you saying? I mean, I guess
- 21:42Speaker 2: we're safe in that they gave us that minor flashback
- 21:46Speaker 2: into Kruger's life because they really could have gone the
- 21:48Speaker 2: Halloween route and we could have gotten him as a kid.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Somebody killing his cat and his dad being an alcoholic
- 21:54Speaker 2: and beating the hell out of him.
- 21:56Speaker 12: And Sherry Moon was his mom.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Sherry Moon was his mom.
- 21:58Speaker 11: I'd probably kill people if she were my mom.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Then he goes to Juvie. And, I mean, we really
- 22:03Speaker 2: could have, like, gotten a whole lot of backstory on
- 22:05Speaker 2: shit we don't care about and isn't necessary.
- 22:08Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I do like that it sort of just gives you
- 22:11Speaker 2: that glimpse of it, but I like the time we
- 22:14Speaker 2: spend with him as a real person, because I think
- 22:16Speaker 2: it does. And maybe that's why we don't like him
- 22:18Speaker 2: so much. Maybe that's why the old Freddy Krueger we liked,
- 22:21Speaker 2: we could get behind, because we don't really know what happened.
- 22:24Speaker 2: We're just like, whatever. He's a child killer. Yeah, that too.
- 22:30Speaker 2: But again, that's not his fault. He's just the evil
- 22:33Speaker 2: demon seed.
- 22:35Speaker 11: I kind of think that the reason everyone likes... Old,
- 22:38Speaker 11: original Freddy is basically, like Misty said, because of Robert
- 22:42Speaker 11: Englund's charisma.
- 22:43Speaker 2: He's charismatic. He really is.
- 22:44Speaker 11: I actually felt a little bit of sympathy at certain
- 22:48Speaker 11: points at the scene where they're, like, burning the warehouse down.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 11: For him in this movie, you know. And, I mean,
- 22:54Speaker 11: it was small, you know, because.
- 22:56Speaker 10: Yeah. People like that.
- 22:57Speaker 11: I don't really.
- 22:59Speaker 2: But that scene right before that, like when he's out
- 23:00Speaker 2: in the yard playing with the kids and you're like,
- 23:02Speaker 2: there's a minute where you're like, well, what if he
- 23:04Speaker 2: didn't do anything? Because he does really seem to like
- 23:06Speaker 2: these kids and they sort of give you this glimpse
- 23:09Speaker 2: at like what could have been a normal relationship. So
- 23:11Speaker 2: you do kind of start to worry, it's like, what
- 23:13Speaker 2: if he didn't do anything? What if it was, you know, wrongfully,
- 23:16Speaker 2: you know, accused, and then they just vigilante'd his ass, and,
- 23:19Speaker 2: you know, which would be a different turn in the movie,
- 23:22Speaker 2: and I think it would have been less likable as
- 23:24Speaker 2: the series goes on if he was, oh, he's innocent, no,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you know, I think it makes him more of a
- 23:30Speaker 2: villain that, you know, for the story is if he
- 23:33Speaker 2: actually did do that, and it makes more sense as,
- 23:35Speaker 2: you know, as the story goes, but.
- 23:37Speaker 13: My only question is, now that he's off to all
- 23:39Speaker 13: the kids except for the two... Now how is he
- 23:42Speaker 13: going to come back and get a whole new batch
- 23:43Speaker 13: of kids?
- 23:44Speaker 2: He did that every movie, though, if you remember.
- 23:47Speaker 10: Yeah, but in the original movie, he wasn't specifically after
- 23:49Speaker 10: a number of kids that had ratted him out.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It was the kids of Elm Street. All kids of
- 23:56Speaker 2: Elm Street. This time, yeah, it was very specific kids.
- 24:01Speaker 10: Is he going to be after their kids now?
- 24:03Speaker 6: Maybe.
- 24:03Speaker 11: Maybe it's going to flash forward into the future and
- 24:05Speaker 11: those two people will have hooked.
- 24:07Speaker 10: Up and had babies. 23,000.
- 24:10Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 24:10Speaker 11: It's going to take them a thousand years.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Well, it couldn't be Freddy 2000 because it's already 2000.
- 24:16Speaker 12: Freddy X.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Freddy X. Freddy goes to space. No, it's supposed to
- 24:22Speaker 2: be the fourth in all the series. They'll do a pre-prequel.
- 24:26Speaker 11: And then we'll look at the whole backstory. I don't know.
- 24:28Speaker 11: This Freddy was human, more human, and the other Freddy
- 24:31Speaker 11: was just more of like this hilarious....
- 24:35Speaker 2: He wasn't even... Again, to just go back to that
- 24:37Speaker 2: first one, he wasn't in that first movie. He is...
- 24:39Speaker 2: He's got a few of the one-liners, but he is...
- 24:42Speaker 2: He's more mysterious in the first one. Like, you really
- 24:44Speaker 2: had no idea... who he is in the beginning like
- 24:47Speaker 2: it's hard to do that on this movie this remake
- 24:49Speaker 2: because we have so much backstory on him you know
- 24:52Speaker 2: we as an entire generation have been watching him so
- 24:55Speaker 2: it's hard to be like who is this guy and
- 24:57Speaker 2: what's his motivation you know I mean it's hard to
- 24:59Speaker 2: look at it like a new character when even if
- 25:02Speaker 2: they change stuff we're all so familiar with him whereas
- 25:04Speaker 2: you watch that first Nightmare on Elm Street nobody had
- 25:07Speaker 2: any idea who this character was and you do start
- 25:10Speaker 2: wondering why he's here and why he's attacking these kids
- 25:13Speaker 2: and it does leave a lot of like sort of
- 25:15Speaker 2: ambiguity to it like you don't know what his motivation
- 25:19Speaker 2: is whereas this one I mean it's pretty early on
- 25:21Speaker 2: you start you know again you can't go into it
- 25:24Speaker 2: fresh you've got so much backstory that you know why
- 25:26Speaker 2: he's doing it but I mean rewatching the first one
- 25:29Speaker 2: there's a lot of that that's just like up in
- 25:31Speaker 2: the air like you're just like where is this weird
- 25:33Speaker 2: character coming from why is he killing him why does
- 25:36Speaker 2: he have crazy dream powers and it's just hard to
- 25:38Speaker 2: take a fresh look on a property that's so well known.
- 25:42Speaker 12: It's been so long since I don't remember why he
- 25:44Speaker 12: was killing.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Him It's the parents.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Just revenge against the parents for having set him on fire.
- 25:50Speaker 12: Why did they set him on fire again?
- 25:51Speaker 11: Because he was a child.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Molester and killer. Again, he was just a killer. He
- 25:56Speaker 2: was a child murderer is what they referred to in
- 25:58Speaker 2: the old one. They never said anything about molesting kids. But,
- 26:00Speaker 2: I mean, as the series went on, a lot of
- 26:02Speaker 2: people just assumed that he was molesting children. You've got
- 26:05Speaker 2: to find ways to make it more despicable.
- 26:06Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 13: Well, see, the other thing that kind of gets you
- 26:09Speaker 13: on the whole movie, too, is you know at some
- 26:12Speaker 13: point they're going to... In the first Freddy movie, you
- 26:15Speaker 13: didn't know too much about him, like you were saying.
- 26:18Speaker 10: He was in these dreams, and you were like, holy shit,
- 26:20Speaker 10: there's this guy.
- 26:21Speaker 13: He's in the dreams. You don't know how to kill him.
- 26:22Speaker 13: How are they going to kill him? How do you
- 26:24Speaker 13: fight a dream? Whereas now that you see the first movie,
- 26:27Speaker 13: you already know all the backstory. You're like, okay, all
- 26:28Speaker 13: they've got to do is pull him into reality, and
- 26:30Speaker 13: then they can kill him. Come on, pull him into reality.
- 26:33Speaker 13: So you already know all that shit. So that takes
- 26:35Speaker 13: out half the shit right there.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Well, and they just kept reworking the rules every movie.
- 26:40Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Because even at the end of this one, spoiler alert,
- 26:43Speaker 2: they defeat Freddy. But I was like, well, okay, now
- 26:46Speaker 2: he's gone. I was like, well, wait, he's gone at
- 26:48Speaker 2: the end of every fucking Freddy movie. Like, they beat
- 26:50Speaker 2: him at the end of every Freddy movie, and then
- 26:53Speaker 2: some little magical thing happens at the end, and he laughs, and,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you know, he's coming back in the next one. So,
- 26:57Speaker 2: I mean, no matter what... an end all be all
- 27:00Speaker 2: way to get rid of him that they come up
- 27:02Speaker 2: with by the next movie you know he's coming back
- 27:04Speaker 2: so it doesn't really even matter how they wrap this
- 27:05Speaker 2: one up either it's just like well shit as long
- 27:07Speaker 2: as this makes money we know he's coming back so
- 27:09Speaker 2: no matter what you do to kill him or defeat
- 27:12Speaker 2: him or send him off to never never land or
- 27:13Speaker 2: whatever the fuck you want to call it it doesn't
- 27:15Speaker 2: matter as long as he makes money we know he's
- 27:17Speaker 2: coming back they're gonna find the loophole.
- 27:19Speaker 12: Towards the end, it kind of bothered me. It was
- 27:21Speaker 12: probably a big spoiler. When she throws the lantern thing
- 27:24Speaker 12: against the wall and catches the far side of the
- 27:27Speaker 12: room on fire. I'm like, no, I would have caught
- 27:28Speaker 12: his ass on fire right then and there. Yeah. Because
- 27:32Speaker 12: they leave. You could have time to crawl back out.
- 27:33Speaker 2: At first, that's what I thought she was going to do.
- 27:35Speaker 2: I thought she was going to finish setting him on
- 27:37Speaker 2: fire that they did 20-some odd years ago.
- 27:39Speaker 12: No, she just throws it across the room, the farthest
- 27:41Speaker 12: corner from where he actually... I'm like, no. Bitch tried
- 27:44Speaker 12: to kill me.
- 27:45Speaker 11: No.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I think she was just trying to burn those naked
- 27:46Speaker 2: pictures of herself.
- 27:49Speaker 13: I'd take his hand and end up fucking killing himself
- 27:52Speaker 13: with his own damn hand.
- 27:53Speaker 10: I mean, they cut his hand off. I mean, come on.
- 27:55Speaker 10: Spoiler alert. He just stabbed the fucker to death with
- 28:00Speaker 10: his own hand.
- 28:01Speaker 2: In part two, is it going to be like duct
- 28:03Speaker 2: tape back on?
- 28:04Speaker 11: Yeah. You know? I don't know.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 28:06Speaker 12: Who knows?
- 28:07Speaker 5: Oh, Freddy.
- 28:10Speaker 12: You wacky guy.
- 28:11Speaker 5: You cheeky monkey.
- 28:13Speaker 11: You cheeky bastard.
- 28:16Speaker 12: Maybe that's just me. Maybe I would have wanted to
- 28:19Speaker 12: see him burn first.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I thought it was just some sort of poetic irony of,
- 28:24Speaker 2: ha ha, now he's on fire again.
- 28:26Speaker 5: Oh my gosh.
- 28:28Speaker 2: That's what I was just really just finishing the job
- 28:30Speaker 2: the parents did.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Yeah, seriously.
- 28:32Speaker 2: The parents half-assed it and she was going to finish
- 28:34Speaker 2: the job.
- 28:35Speaker 10: This time I'm going to freeze them.
- 28:36Speaker 12: Then she equally half-asses it and leaves.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:40Speaker 11: But I mean, you don't want to like watch someone
- 28:42Speaker 11: burn in a building as.
- 28:43Speaker 2: You're standing to get away.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:46Speaker 2: All the things you did to all her friends.
- 28:49Speaker 12: Fuck you. Somebody killed all my friends. I'm going to
- 28:51Speaker 12: sit there and watch them burn.
- 28:53Speaker 2: That's because you're evil.
- 28:54Speaker 10: We know that. I'd do the same thing. I wouldn't
- 28:56Speaker 10: burn him, though. I'd smash him with a sledgehammer.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so you know that?
- 28:58Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. Destroy him.
- 29:02Speaker 2: We didn't have crazy booby traps. I forgot about that
- 29:05Speaker 2: in the old one. Crazy booby traps. And I said
- 29:08Speaker 2: this last night.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Was it a sledgehammer to the chest? Yeah, it was awesome.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I said this last night when I was watching. I
- 29:13Speaker 2: was like, you know, John Hughes owes Wes Craven a
- 29:16Speaker 2: little credit, basically. Because, I mean... That was years before
- 29:21Speaker 2: Home Alone, and she booby-trapped her house to defeat the
- 29:23Speaker 2: bad guy. I was like, come on now. John Hughes
- 29:27Speaker 2: had to rip that off a little bit. Because I
- 29:29Speaker 2: don't remember anybody booby-trapping their own house to defeat the
- 29:31Speaker 2: bad guy before.
- 29:32Speaker 8: Freddie well you do it now but not when 84
- 29:36Speaker 8: i know.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I wouldn't put it past you as
- 29:41Speaker 2: a four-year-old.
- 29:42Speaker 13: That's the other thing that I was laughing about was
- 29:44Speaker 13: when they were digging out the boxes marked 96 and 97.
- 29:47Speaker 13: I was sitting over in the corner giggling because I
- 29:49Speaker 13: was like, I was drunk at a bar in 96
- 29:53Speaker 13: in Florida.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, she's looking back at her childhood. I'm like, wow,
- 29:57Speaker 2: way back in 97. Yeah, whoa. I was going to
- 30:01Speaker 2: work that day. Preschool my ass.
- 30:06Speaker 12: And again, if you look at the boxes and if
- 30:08Speaker 12: you went back that far, she might have been the
- 30:10Speaker 12: age of the character she was supposed to have actually
- 30:12Speaker 12: been playing.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Yeah, she is.
- 30:17Speaker 2: It made sense to me.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Shut up.
- 30:19Speaker 10: No, I'm just saying for her.
- 30:21Speaker 11: Robot Chicken did this funny Freddy Krueger backstory thing. I
- 30:28Speaker 11: can't remember exactly how it went, but it was just
- 30:30Speaker 11: like a series of unfortunate events that led to him
- 30:33Speaker 11: being late.
- 30:34Speaker 10: I think I remember seeing that.
- 30:35Speaker 5: That's pretty funny.
- 30:38Speaker 11: Like his kid gave him an itchy sweater. Oh, the
- 30:42Speaker 11: sweater's so itchy.
- 30:44Speaker 12: I vaguely remember that. But nobody can remember the details.
- 30:48Speaker 11: I don't remember anything else about it, but yeah. I
- 30:50Speaker 11: just know I'm going to have to put that up
- 30:52Speaker 11: on the internet in a little while.
- 30:55Speaker 2: So what did you think of the new Nancy? Yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 5: She's really pretty uh but she she sucked as far
- 31:04Speaker 5: as i like well i liked how the old nancy
- 31:07Speaker 5: was you could she was freaked out and you could
- 31:10Speaker 5: tell that she was really like on the edge of
- 31:13Speaker 5: having a nervous breakdown every second in the movie yeah
- 31:16Speaker 5: this just didn't look ready for a nap she just
- 31:17Speaker 5: yeah she was like i'm an artist and whatever and God,
- 31:21Speaker 5: I don't want to go to sleep, but I could.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I didn't get any of that. She's about to freaking
- 31:26Speaker 5: lose control.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I don't want to go to sleep.
- 31:29Speaker 12: I can't go to sleep. But here, I'll take a
- 31:30Speaker 12: bubble bath. Yeah, really?
- 31:32Speaker 13: Oh, my God. No, the guy had the right idea.
- 31:36Speaker 13: He's stealing adrenaline.
- 31:37Speaker 12: Adrenaline.
- 31:39Speaker 5: That's how you do it.
- 31:40Speaker 12: And it still didn't keep him awake.
- 31:42Speaker 5: He didn't put it in his heart.
- 31:44Speaker 11: He just put it in his leg.
- 31:45Speaker 10: It's Bieber.
- 31:46Speaker 12: He had a rocket surgery.
- 31:47Speaker 5: It's going to go to your foot.
- 31:49Speaker 10: I mean, I guess it would have been true.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Did you have a rocket surgery?
- 31:54Speaker 5: But yeah, I don't think she did a good job
- 31:57Speaker 5: at all as far as.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Being on the raggedy edge, she just didn't play that
- 32:02Speaker 5: as well as the original did.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yeah, she's way more under control about it.
- 32:08Speaker 10: She wasn't as ingenuitive either.
- 32:10Speaker 2: No, no. Well, and she didn't have that, I'm going
- 32:12Speaker 2: to fight back.
- 32:13Speaker 6: No.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Nancy in the old one just gets pissed. She's just like,
- 32:17Speaker 2: I'm in control of this.
- 32:18Speaker 5: You're killing my friend.
- 32:20Speaker 10: And that's what I was waiting for.
- 32:21Speaker 13: I was waiting for her at some point to go,
- 32:24Speaker 13: I'm in charge of this shit now.
- 32:25Speaker 12: Yep. And she never really did.
- 32:27Speaker 10: It never happened.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And that's the other thing they have to figure out,
- 32:30Speaker 2: usually in all these movies, is number one, if you
- 32:32Speaker 2: get him out in the real world, you can destroy him.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Number two, it's a dream. If you learn how to
- 32:36Speaker 2: control the dream, you can do whatever the fuck you want.
- 32:39Speaker 2: You can defeat him just as easily. So they never
- 32:42Speaker 2: really get into that either. It's like they're just trapped
- 32:45Speaker 2: in the dream world, and the only way for them
- 32:46Speaker 2: to fight him is to bring him out into the
- 32:48Speaker 2: real world. But I think, and maybe they're just saving
- 32:51Speaker 2: up for the sequels. I don't know. But I think
- 32:53Speaker 2: that was always an interesting way they would go in
- 32:54Speaker 2: a lot of the sequels, even as bad as the
- 32:56Speaker 2: sequel's got, is when the kids would learn to make
- 32:59Speaker 2: use of the dream world and actually use that to
- 33:02Speaker 2: their advantage and fight against it.
- 33:03Speaker 12: They even make a comment in this one about how
- 33:05Speaker 12: that's the main point of the nightmares is that you
- 33:08Speaker 12: don't have control and that's what makes them scary and
- 33:10Speaker 12: what makes them so hard is that you don't have control.
- 33:12Speaker 12: So maybe because of that, he is controlling the dream world,
- 33:16Speaker 12: and even you in your dream can't have any say
- 33:19Speaker 12: over it.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I guess. I mean, maybe they just are going in
- 33:22Speaker 2: an entirely different direction, because I know they tried to find... Yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 2: I mean, they do bring that up. So, I mean,
- 33:27Speaker 2: it is something that maybe they just... thought that was
- 33:29Speaker 2: very unrealistic not that this is realistic yeah it.
- 33:33Speaker 11: Seems in the original nancy just randomly arrived at this
- 33:36Speaker 11: conclusion that she can pull freddy into the real world
- 33:39Speaker 11: i don't remember there being a part where she she pulled.
- 33:41Speaker 2: His hat she yeah she's got the hat okay in
- 33:43Speaker 2: the scene with roger rabbit remember.
- 33:45Speaker 13: Yeah okay i forgot about it was the scene that
- 33:48Speaker 13: we're trying to do the uh sleep analysis yeah like
- 33:51Speaker 13: that on her and she pulls the hat.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Out But yeah, this one, after he steals the drugs,
- 33:56Speaker 2: is it just me or was that a big Pulp
- 33:57Speaker 2: Fiction thing?
- 33:59Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 2: We had a nice little nod to Pulp Fiction there.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Because even when she sat up, she sat up and
- 34:03Speaker 2: pulled it out exactly like Uma Thurman. She just looks
- 34:06Speaker 2: at her chest like, the fuck is this needle doing
- 34:08Speaker 2: to my chest?
- 34:10Speaker 12: That's the same reaction I have every time.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Every couple of weeks when we have to adrenalize your ass.
- 34:15Speaker 12: It's usually during the show.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Pretty much.
- 34:18Speaker 11: That would hurt.
- 34:21Speaker 5: You're safe. You don't know.
- 34:23Speaker 11: No, I've had needles very close to my chest in
- 34:25Speaker 11: the last week. It fucking hurts.
- 34:28Speaker 5: You're not that.
- 34:29Speaker 10: You won't know.
- 34:30Speaker 13: You just got the initial shock of waking up going,
- 34:33Speaker 13: what the fuck's this needle.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Doing to my chest?
- 34:36Speaker 2: So while we're on the changes that they've made, how
- 34:39Speaker 2: about the... The scientific evidence that they throw in now
- 34:42Speaker 2: that your brain shuts down after 72 hours, which I'm
- 34:47Speaker 2: pretty sure he kept saying they were micronauts. If not,
- 34:50Speaker 2: that's what I'm going to call it. From here on out,
- 34:53Speaker 2: your brain has micronauts, and you start dreaming even if
- 34:56Speaker 2: you're awake.
- 34:56Speaker 10: How do I collect them all?
- 34:58Speaker 2: Collect all the micronauts.
- 34:59Speaker 10: Micronauts were cool.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know. What did you think of
- 35:05Speaker 2: that addition to it?
- 35:06Speaker 12: Was it real?
- 35:07Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 35:08Speaker 10: I mean, as long as they're not metachlorians, I'm fine.
- 35:11Speaker 11: You do start going crazy and like dreaming while you're
- 35:14Speaker 11: awake after you've not slept for so long but the
- 35:16Speaker 11: whole like going into a coma after you haven't slept
- 35:19Speaker 11: for four days just i don't think.
- 35:20Speaker 13: That's was it only four days i thought they said
- 35:22Speaker 13: it was 72 hours but maybe that was the.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Micro they've still adjusted it because i mean in the
- 35:27Speaker 2: old one i think she was up to like seven
- 35:29Speaker 2: days of not really sleeping and she said the record
- 35:31Speaker 2: was like 11 or something so they definitely went a
- 35:35Speaker 2: different more scientific route.
- 35:37Speaker 13: On this one well they got that one guy Just
- 35:39Speaker 13: like in Guinness records, I think, that hasn't slept at
- 35:41Speaker 13: all in, like, I forgot how many years.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Does he take naps?
- 35:44Speaker 5: No, I don't think he takes naps either.
- 35:47Speaker 10: He just works.
- 35:47Speaker 12: Does he power nap?
- 35:49Speaker 4: No.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Does he have Micronauts?
- 35:51Speaker 5: I don't think he has Micronauts.
- 35:52Speaker 10: He's got the whole set.
- 35:53Speaker 2: He's collected them all.
- 35:54Speaker 10: In that much time.
- 35:55Speaker 12: Yes.
- 35:56Speaker 10: Good Lord.
- 35:58Speaker 11: I like that her hair did not go gray.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I'm surprised it did.
- 36:02Speaker 11: I like that in.
- 36:03Speaker 2: The first one. I thought it was kind of a
- 36:04Speaker 2: cool look for the old Nancy. I thought about doing
- 36:07Speaker 2: that with mine too.
- 36:09Speaker 12: It's purple instead.
- 36:11Speaker 10: I've already done that with mine. It's natural.
- 36:13Speaker 11: It's about ready to die too.
- 36:15Speaker 2: You didn't need Freddy for that.
- 36:16Speaker 10: Come on man, I'm going for the Nick Fury look.
- 36:18Speaker 5: You're going for.
- 36:22Speaker 12: The old look. I gotta keep you looking young.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Just do what she wants, Jay. It'll be easier.
- 36:27Speaker 12: It is.
- 36:28Speaker 5: For everyone.
- 36:28Speaker 12: I'll win eventually anyways.
- 36:30Speaker 10: She will.
- 36:31Speaker 5: It's not fair.
- 36:32Speaker 12: Life's not fair.
- 36:34Speaker 5: All right, back to them.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Oh, so I don't know. What sort of our final
- 36:43Speaker 2: thoughts on it?
- 36:45Speaker 12: It was tolerable. It would be a lot better if
- 36:48Speaker 12: I hadn't seen the first one. It was watchable. It's
- 36:50Speaker 12: fun at some points, but I don't think it's anywhere near...
- 36:52Speaker 12: Nothing's ever going to touch the original.
- 36:54Speaker 5: No, no.
- 36:55Speaker 12: I didn't like that guy as Freddy just because he
- 36:57Speaker 12: didn't have any charisma whatsoever. He didn't have any.
- 37:01Speaker 5: To me, really.
- 37:02Speaker 2: He really didn't. I mean, he works as the original version.
- 37:05Speaker 2: He works in the flashbacks really well, but he just
- 37:08Speaker 2: doesn't have, you know, even without the charisma.
- 37:12Speaker 12: They seem pretty proud of their effect of having his
- 37:14Speaker 12: glove break something metal just so they can have sparks.
- 37:16Speaker 12: They overused the hell out of it.
- 37:17Speaker 5: Super sparks.
- 37:18Speaker 2: We do like sparks. I mean, shiny things and sparks.
- 37:21Speaker 2: We like that.
- 37:22Speaker 5: But not like it's like lighting a fuse to dynamite
- 37:25Speaker 5: or something like that. Because that's what I'm saying.
- 37:26Speaker 12: And every scene they had him in, he had to
- 37:28Speaker 12: have it too. It's a dream.
- 37:30Speaker 11: I didn't like the way he was like.
- 37:31Speaker 12: You're right.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Like, yeah. Yeah, he did like the clicky sound. He
- 37:36Speaker 2: didn't do that in the old one, so not so much.
- 37:38Speaker 2: He just did the blade noise.
- 37:41Speaker 5: I didn't know if that was like him being excited
- 37:44Speaker 5: or if he was just like a nervous tick or whatever.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Or just fucking with him. Hey, listen to these. I'm
- 37:49Speaker 2: going to stab you with these in a minute. Cha-cha-cha.
- 37:54Speaker 12: Yeah. I don't know.
- 37:55Speaker 11: I really liked the movie and Freddy was definitely not
- 38:00Speaker 11: as good as the original Freddy, like no charisma, but
- 38:04Speaker 11: you know, I like the way it went into more
- 38:06Speaker 11: detail about his backstory. And it kind of made, it
- 38:09Speaker 11: made a little bit more sense to me, but I
- 38:12Speaker 11: think they could have had more like surrealistic dream scenes.
- 38:15Speaker 11: Like at the very beginning where the guy is like
- 38:18Speaker 11: wandering through the diner and there's like all these pig
- 38:21Speaker 11: heads and like really gross shit. And then like, he's
- 38:23Speaker 11: following this weird, creepy waitress and That part was cool,
- 38:28Speaker 11: but there was another.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that part was cool.
- 38:29Speaker 11: Every dream, they were just in the boiler room, which
- 38:31Speaker 11: is scary at first, but when everyone's down there, it's
- 38:34Speaker 11: just kind of like, ah, we've seen this.
- 38:36Speaker 10: It's like the boiler room again.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I know. That was the one thing I was going
- 38:40Speaker 2: to bring up is why is there a boiler room
- 38:42Speaker 2: in this movie? Yeah.
- 38:44Speaker 10: He wasn't killed in the boiler room.
- 38:45Speaker 2: He wasn't. I mean, and he didn't work in a
- 38:47Speaker 2: boiler room. The old one was part of it. He
- 38:49Speaker 2: worked in a boiler room, and then they chased him
- 38:51Speaker 2: to the boiler room, and it all tied in. That's
- 38:52Speaker 2: a good point. now it's like he lived in a
- 38:55Speaker 2: basement but not a boiler room there wasn't fire everywhere
- 38:58Speaker 2: it was a basement.
- 38:59Speaker 11: It was held in a factory but it wasn't like
- 39:01Speaker 11: a boiler it was.
- 39:02Speaker 2: A factory it was like a truck it looked like
- 39:05Speaker 2: a truck junkyard or something because they had all the
- 39:08Speaker 2: tractor trailers out there when they chased him in and.
- 39:10Speaker 10: It just looks like he got killed the tool shit.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Yeah it was like it doesn't have anything to do
- 39:14Speaker 2: with the boiler room so why the hell It's another
- 39:17Speaker 2: one of those that like we've got so much lore
- 39:19Speaker 2: of Freddy at this point that it's like we almost
- 39:21Speaker 2: have to work in the boiler room even though now
- 39:24Speaker 2: with them changing the story it makes no sense.
- 39:25Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 39:26Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 39:27Speaker 12: The only thing that bothered me a lot was they
- 39:28Speaker 12: seemed to rely too heavily on like the they weren't
- 39:31Speaker 12: even like jump scares they were like Everything's okay. Then
- 39:34Speaker 12: he'll move his face real fast and you'll see his face.
- 39:36Speaker 12: It wasn't even regular jump scares where someone would make
- 39:39Speaker 12: a loud sound. It was just like.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Those edits they do where they edit out five and
- 39:44Speaker 2: he just suddenly turns around because they edited it.
- 39:46Speaker 12: They seem to do that quite a bit.
- 39:47Speaker 11: It's really popular.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Every movie, specifically horror movies, love to do that.
- 39:51Speaker 12: It seemed to overdo it. It seemed to rely too
- 39:53Speaker 12: heavily on that because I love jump scares. I love
- 39:56Speaker 12: everything gets all tense and then all of a sudden
- 39:58Speaker 12: something will jump out. But I don't like that just
- 40:00Speaker 12: cutting scenes where it just... comes in i don't know.
- 40:03Speaker 2: I think yeah i think they've gotten into that in
- 40:05Speaker 2: the last like 10 years it's like all those movies
- 40:07Speaker 2: like the parasite eve movies and like all of those
- 40:10Speaker 2: that like now anytime something's supposed to be freaky they've
- 40:13Speaker 2: got to edit it so it's all jerky and all
- 40:15Speaker 2: of a sudden they're looking at you and it's creepy
- 40:17Speaker 2: and i'm like i've seen this a thousand.
- 40:19Speaker 11: Times the first time that they started doing that in
- 40:21Speaker 11: movies that freaked the fuck out of me nothing was
- 40:24Speaker 11: ever scary but now it's just every.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Movie it I mean, I saw it years ago. The
- 40:28Speaker 2: first time I remember somebody doing that, I'm pretty sure,
- 40:31Speaker 2: was in Jacob's Ladder. They did that fucked up stuff.
- 40:33Speaker 2: And that was Adrian Lyon. That was a long damn
- 40:35Speaker 2: time ago. But it took them, like, ten years before
- 40:37Speaker 2: it became just something they had to stick into every
- 40:40Speaker 2: bad horror movie.
- 40:41Speaker 11: Just the whole speeding up process.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Yeah, the speeding up, jerky, unnatural look. And it is creepy.
- 40:47Speaker 11: It was really scary in The Exorcist when she, like, goes, ooh.
- 40:50Speaker 2: That first couple of times you saw it, you're like,
- 40:52Speaker 2: that's fucked up. That is weird. But now, again, now
- 40:55Speaker 2: if you put it in every movie that comes out
- 40:58Speaker 2: every weekend, it's not creepy anymore.
- 41:00Speaker 12: Like every creepy girl you see climbing downstairs, all jerky-like. Yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 2: We've seen that before.
- 41:04Speaker 11: Every remake, it's like, it's not.
- 41:06Speaker 10: Any Marilyn Manson video.
- 41:07Speaker 2: Yeah, really.
- 41:08Speaker 11: It was really scary at first, but now it's just like,
- 41:10Speaker 11: you've seen it.
- 41:11Speaker 13: Yeah, you need to find, well, that's the problem, is
- 41:13Speaker 13: they need to come up with another way to freak
- 41:16Speaker 13: people out.
- 41:16Speaker 12: I know. Which is why the rain creeped me out
- 41:18Speaker 12: so much the first time we watched it, because I
- 41:19Speaker 12: had not seen that before.
- 41:20Speaker 10: You had not seen that before, yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 2: What are they.
- 41:23Speaker 12: Going to bring out that nobody's seen now?
- 41:24Speaker 10: Yeah, well, somebody will figure out something.
- 41:26Speaker 13: As far as my feelings on this movie, it was okay.
- 41:30Speaker 13: I still like the original better, which is kind of
- 41:32Speaker 13: why I'm like, well, it didn't need to be remade.
- 41:35Speaker 13: So I really don't have that much of a feeling
- 41:39Speaker 13: on this movie.
- 41:40Speaker 10: It's just like, eh, it's a movie. Am I going
- 41:42Speaker 10: to see it again?
- 41:42Speaker 2: No.
- 41:43Speaker 10: If I rent movies or if we decide.
- 41:45Speaker 13: To download a movie, am I going to download this
- 41:47Speaker 13: one or the first Nightmare on Elm Street?
- 41:50Speaker 10: I'll download the first one. I'll watch the first one.
- 41:52Speaker 10: I don't care about this one.
- 41:53Speaker 2: I mean, that was kind of my thing. I wasn't...
- 41:56Speaker 2: I didn't... That.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Would be awesome as a segue for the show.
- 42:07Speaker 2: It actually would.
- 42:08Speaker 5: That's for you guys.
- 42:11Speaker 12: Sorry, Roger fell asleep.
- 42:13Speaker 5: I'm taking my 10-second nap. Your micro-nap? My micro-nap. Yeah, definitely.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 42:22Speaker 12: That was my fault. I totally interrupted. So, no, my
- 42:24Speaker 12: thing was....
- 42:28Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't hate it. Like, I ended up
- 42:30Speaker 2: liking it more than I expected, I guess. I mean,
- 42:33Speaker 2: I liked the mystery aspect of it. I didn't hate
- 42:36Speaker 2: the kids as much as... I mean, most of these
- 42:37Speaker 2: remakes have really annoying kids, and I didn't hate most
- 42:40Speaker 2: of them.
- 42:40Speaker 12: You didn't get over... For once, it was a teen
- 42:43Speaker 12: movie that you didn't get beat down with drugs and,
- 42:45Speaker 12: you know, sex.
- 42:46Speaker 10: Yeah, that was Roger's main complaint.
- 42:49Speaker 5: No titties in this movie! Seriously, come on.
- 42:51Speaker 12: I mean, that's why I liked the characters more, because
- 42:53Speaker 12: you didn't have that, you know, over-stereotypical bullshit in there.
- 42:56Speaker 12: You didn't have that, you know... hey dude let's go
- 42:59Speaker 12: get high a little little sex little premarital sex little
- 43:04Speaker 12: drug use it's like which is why i think i
- 43:07Speaker 12: like the characters.
- 43:08Speaker 2: They sort of scaled it back because i mean even
- 43:10Speaker 2: the old one we had premarital sex and this one
- 43:12Speaker 2: we don't get any of that they like take a
- 43:14Speaker 2: nap together you know that's the most we get in
- 43:17Speaker 2: this new one a little So maybe it's aiming more
- 43:20Speaker 2: for that PG-13 crowd, even though it's not. I mean,
- 43:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know if that was on purpose,
- 43:26Speaker 2: if they were just trying to keep it from crossing
- 43:28Speaker 2: that line with people.
- 43:29Speaker 11: That's how America works, though. You can have all the
- 43:32Speaker 11: blood and violence you want, but if anyone, like, shows
- 43:34Speaker 11: a nipple.
- 43:35Speaker 12: Oh, God.
- 43:36Speaker 11: Jesus Christ.
- 43:37Speaker 2: It just puts it in a different category of movie.
- 43:40Speaker 2: You can have those, but it just sort of ups
- 43:42Speaker 2: the ante, and then you get a lot more flack
- 43:44Speaker 2: for that kind of stuff. Yeah. I guess I see
- 43:46Speaker 2: why from their marketing standpoint, possibly. Maybe they think they
- 43:50Speaker 2: can hit a wider audience with this version of it.
- 43:52Speaker 2: But I don't know. To me, I think the end
- 43:55Speaker 2: result is it's not bad, but I'm still just kind
- 43:58Speaker 2: of let down by the potential that they don't do
- 44:01Speaker 2: anything new. I think watching them as recently as I did,
- 44:06Speaker 2: I still find, like even now... How many years later,
- 44:10Speaker 2: and the fact that I've seen it many, many times,
- 44:13Speaker 2: some of those scenes are still disturbing. Like, a lot
- 44:16Speaker 2: of them. Like, even the basic, you know, when she
- 44:19Speaker 2: flies up off the bed. Like, I remember the first
- 44:21Speaker 2: time seeing that was fucked up. And then her on
- 44:24Speaker 2: the ceiling. And then the blood fountain obviously fucked kids
- 44:28Speaker 2: up for generations. So... Like, there's a lot of those scenes,
- 44:31Speaker 2: and it's not just one or two. There's quite a
- 44:34Speaker 2: few in that first movie that are just, like, jarring
- 44:36Speaker 2: and were totally original. The body bag scene fucked you
- 44:40Speaker 2: up when you were a kid, and she's sitting there.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And the fact that they recreate that, it's just kind
- 44:44Speaker 2: of like, ugh. But we've already seen that. That was
- 44:46Speaker 2: fucked up the first time I saw it. Now it's
- 44:48Speaker 2: just you paying homage to it, but we've already seen it.
- 44:51Speaker 2: You know, it's, yeah, it's not cool. So I think
- 44:54Speaker 2: that's what I'm most let down by is the fact
- 44:56Speaker 2: that they just... they were too busy trying to hit
- 44:59Speaker 2: all those marks of the old one. I really think
- 45:01Speaker 2: the old one doesn't get enough credit for having these
- 45:04Speaker 2: kind of cool groundbreaking scenes. Whereas the, the new one
- 45:07Speaker 2: just seems like it's, it's just trying to tap into
- 45:10Speaker 2: that too much and it doesn't bother to explore anything new,
- 45:13Speaker 2: but it almost reminds me of, uh, and I've got
- 45:16Speaker 2: a kid, so it almost reminds me of the episode
- 45:18Speaker 2: of SpongeBob where, uh.
- 45:20Speaker 10: The, uh, we're, uh, Oh God.
- 45:23Speaker 13: Now I can't think of the pirates name, the ghost, uh,
- 45:27Speaker 13: david no damn it what the hell's.
- 45:29Speaker 2: His name i think i know who you're talking about
- 45:31Speaker 2: but i can't yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 13: It's the one that scares everybody uh flying the flying
- 45:35Speaker 13: dutchman it's the one where he moves in with spongebob
- 45:37Speaker 13: and he scares him like every day he does different.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Things like and he freaks him the fuck out for like.
- 45:43Speaker 13: The first week and then after about a week he's
- 45:46Speaker 13: like and he's just like yawn and he's like he's
- 45:51Speaker 13: like you know it's like We've already seen all this
- 45:54Speaker 13: shit before.
- 45:54Speaker 10: You got to come up with something new because you're
- 45:56Speaker 10: not scaring us anymore.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:58Speaker 13: It just, yeah, it all, it was all nice. And
- 46:01Speaker 13: maybe if somebody hasn't seen these things before, maybe it's scary.
- 46:04Speaker 13: But to us, it was like, it's like, oh, there
- 46:07Speaker 13: she goes. She's on the ceiling.
- 46:08Speaker 5: Yep.
- 46:09Speaker 10: We know what's going to happen now. Oh, the body bag?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 46:12Speaker 10: It's not too bad, but yeah.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I've seen it before. I mean, even picking it up
- 46:16Speaker 2: and dragging it down the hall. That was almost shot
- 46:19Speaker 2: for shot. I was like, that's too much.
- 46:21Speaker 10: The original?
- 46:22Speaker 2: Freaked the fuck out of me. It did. That part still.
- 46:25Speaker 10: This one, it's like... We already know what's going to happen.
- 46:29Speaker 13: I think somebody behind me was like at the point
- 46:31Speaker 13: where she flies up the ceiling and she gets stabbed.
- 46:34Speaker 10: She falls down. The guy's like, oh, my God, oh,
- 46:35Speaker 10: my God. The guy behind me is like, they're going
- 46:37Speaker 10: to blame him for it. Nice.
- 46:42Speaker 11: One thing I really wish that this movie would have
- 46:44Speaker 11: put in it, like, I mean, there's a point where
- 46:47Speaker 11: they all realize they're having the same dream. But in
- 46:49Speaker 11: the original– For me, that was like the eeriest part
- 46:52Speaker 11: when they all got together and realized they were having
- 46:54Speaker 11: the same dream. Just that feeling.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 11: That, I mean, I know I have when I watched
- 46:59Speaker 11: the movie.
- 47:00Speaker 2: It would be creepy.
- 47:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 11: Just thinking about how creepy that would be. That wasn't really,
- 47:05Speaker 11: they all realized they were having the same dream, but
- 47:06Speaker 11: they're like, oh, we're having the same dream.
- 47:07Speaker 2: They're just like, wow, that's weird.
- 47:09Speaker 10: Or the other guy's like, no, be quiet.
- 47:10Speaker 5: I don't want to hear it.
- 47:12Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 47:13Speaker 2: What's funny is the change in, again, that it's such
- 47:16Speaker 2: a short amount of time, but things have changed so much.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Because I remember watching that the first time, and it
- 47:21Speaker 2: was such a big deal that she was drinking coffee.
- 47:23Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 2: This high school girl drinking coffee all the time. And
- 47:27Speaker 2: I'm like, shit, now there's not a 10-year-old out there
- 47:29Speaker 2: that's not throwing down espressos night and day.
- 47:31Speaker 10: Yeah, my kid.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Can I have an espresso?
- 47:34Speaker 6: No.
- 47:34Speaker 11: Can I have a chai latte?
- 47:36Speaker 2: No.
- 47:37Speaker 5: Can I drink some beer?
- 47:37Speaker 4: No.
- 47:38Speaker 11: No.
- 47:39Speaker 12: It is.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Yeah, little kids. Coffee is such a marketable thing now
- 47:45Speaker 2: that everybody drinks that stuff all the time.
- 47:48Speaker 10: I remember as a kid being like, that's an adult beverage.
- 47:50Speaker 10: It's coffee and beer. You don't drink those until you
- 47:53Speaker 10: get old.
- 47:54Speaker 2: So it's funny just in that little span of time
- 47:57Speaker 2: it's like things have changed quite a bit i don't.
- 47:59Speaker 10: Think i drank coffee till i turned like 20 or something.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Just because it's a long time for me too and
- 48:04Speaker 2: she was like it was such a big deal this
- 48:06Speaker 2: high schooler drinking coffee she had a coffee pot she
- 48:09Speaker 2: was sneaking it in her room just you know so
- 48:11Speaker 2: her mom wouldn't know she was drinking all that coffee
- 48:13Speaker 2: and i was like wow kids do that all day
- 48:15Speaker 2: long i.
- 48:16Speaker 11: Remember begging my mom when i was younger to uh
- 48:19Speaker 11: let me drink coffee. Like my cousin, this is before
- 48:22Speaker 11: coffee shops existed on every street corner, but she took
- 48:25Speaker 11: us to a coffee shop downtown. And, uh, we got
- 48:29Speaker 11: this like half ass, like mostly milk, I'm sure coffee beverage.
- 48:34Speaker 11: And after that I was like obsessed with cappuccino. And
- 48:37Speaker 11: my mom was like pissed off at my cousin. Like
- 48:39Speaker 11: she'd taken us to a strip club or something.
- 48:42Speaker 10: How dare you?
- 48:43Speaker 11: Now she's addicted to coffee. It's going to stud her growth.
- 48:46Speaker 11: She's going to be short. Um, And you're taller than
- 48:49Speaker 11: most of us here.
- 48:50Speaker 5: I am taller than most of us.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Coffee's good for you.
- 48:53Speaker 11: I think I am taller than everybody here.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Oh, wow. The only other thing I did remember, you
- 49:00Speaker 2: mentioned this earlier, something that was good that they sort of,
- 49:02Speaker 2: and this is what I'm saying, they took the idea
- 49:05Speaker 2: and just went an entirely different way with it. Because
- 49:07Speaker 2: the part in the old one where she's running up
- 49:09Speaker 2: the stairs... and she can't get up the stairs and
- 49:11Speaker 2: her feet are sinking in. That's a very dreamlike state.
- 49:13Speaker 2: That is one of those everybody's had that I'm trying
- 49:16Speaker 2: to run away, I'm trying to run away and I can't.
- 49:17Speaker 2: No matter what I do, I can't get away.
- 49:19Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Found a good way to sort of make that happen.
- 49:22Speaker 2: This one does it and kind of takes it.
- 49:24Speaker 12: Up a notch.
- 49:24Speaker 2: And that falling down into the hallway thing was a
- 49:28Speaker 2: cool shot. That was awesome. That's the only thing they
- 49:30Speaker 2: did that was sort of a touch of the old
- 49:32Speaker 2: one that they sort of went in a new direction
- 49:34Speaker 2: with it and did almost a... Well, not a better job, but...
- 49:37Speaker 2: they did their own thing with it, you know? It's
- 49:39Speaker 2: like they really did sort of make that their own,
- 49:41Speaker 2: whereas I wish they would have done more of that
- 49:43Speaker 2: with all these other things that they kept trying to do.
- 49:45Speaker 2: But other than that, yeah, I think a lot of
- 49:47Speaker 2: the other stuff just falls in that same category. So
- 49:50Speaker 2: it's likable, it's fun, it's watchable, but, you know, it's
- 49:53Speaker 2: certainly not reinventing the whole series, I guess. I don't know.
- 49:57Speaker 2: As much as they probably wanted it to.
- 49:59Speaker 13: I think the most fun could be had seeing this
- 50:01Speaker 13: at the dollar movies.
- 50:03Speaker 5: On a Friday night no you go on 50 cent
- 50:06Speaker 5: night 50.
- 50:07Speaker 13: Cent night at the dollar movies oh hell no is
- 50:11Speaker 13: the best time to go see this oh yes oh
- 50:13Speaker 13: hell yes oh.
- 50:15Speaker 12: Hell yes or even more watch it with your mom Oh.
- 50:19Speaker 10: Yeah, watching it with my mom.
- 50:21Speaker 13: Watching it with my mom is almost as bad as
- 50:24Speaker 13: going to the dollar theater.
- 50:25Speaker 5: What's he doing? What's he doing?
- 50:26Speaker 10: No, don't go in there.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Don't go in there. She's going to get stabbed.
- 50:29Speaker 10: She's going to get stabbed. Oh, see, I told you.
- 50:31Speaker 10: I told you she's stabbed. She's dead now.
- 50:33Speaker 5: I'll tell your mother to shut up.
- 50:37Speaker 10: My mom's like, what's.
- 50:39Speaker 5: Going on next?
- 50:39Speaker 10: What's going on next, mom? Just watch the movie. Just
- 50:41Speaker 10: watch the movie, mom.
- 50:42Speaker 5: I can't stand that.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Are you offering to lease out your mother to our listeners?
- 50:46Speaker 2: If you want the full experience, give us enough money.
- 50:49Speaker 2: I'll ship my mom out to you.
- 50:51Speaker 10: If you want a small Asian lady screaming in the background.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Well, who doesn't?
- 50:55Speaker 10: She's going to die!
- 50:57Speaker 11: I mean, is your mom available for rent? Because I
- 51:00Speaker 11: keep trying to rent your mom all the time.
- 51:02Speaker 10: For egg rolls?
- 51:03Speaker 13: Yeah, egg rolls.
- 51:04Speaker 2: Yeah, otherwise that sounds kind of dirty, but for egg
- 51:07Speaker 2: roll purposes.
- 51:07Speaker 10: It easily happens around my birthday.
- 51:10Speaker 12: She makes the best egg rolls in the world, ever.
- 51:14Speaker 11: Trying to buy your mom for a night, James.
- 51:16Speaker 5: Aren't we all?
- 51:19Speaker 2: A hot night.
- 51:19Speaker 5: A hot night behind the oven.
- 51:22Speaker 2: On the stove.
- 51:23Speaker 12: Getting out the deep fryer.
- 51:26Speaker 11: Do you have... I'll ask you later.
- 51:30Speaker 10: This is coming to the cooking show.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Welcome to Cooking with Movie Mountain. I make popcorn.
- 51:38Speaker 11: Ask if you had a sticky rice maker because I
- 51:40Speaker 11: have a giant pack of sticky rice that you guys
- 51:42Speaker 11: could have.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Now it's back to being dirty again.
- 51:44Speaker 12: Sticky rice. We're going to get one eventually. All right.
- 51:49Speaker 12: Back to the show.
- 51:50Speaker 2: By the way, there was no podcasting in this. I
- 51:52Speaker 2: was lied to in the early advanced. The closest thing
- 51:55Speaker 2: we got, the one kid was a video blogger. That's
- 51:59Speaker 2: an entirely different thing. Early on they said, and they
- 52:02Speaker 2: almost made it sound like the Johnny Depp kid, like
- 52:04Speaker 2: Beaver was going to be a podcaster or something, but
- 52:07Speaker 2: we didn't get any of that.
- 52:08Speaker 3: Lies.
- 52:08Speaker 12: I'm kind of glad though.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I was too actually. I was glad to see it, but.
- 52:12Speaker 2: They did sort of make use of the new technology,
- 52:14Speaker 2: and we got to watch on his video blog as
- 52:16Speaker 2: this kid just deteriorated. Again, that was something they added.
- 52:20Speaker 2: That was cool. That was a new addition to the
- 52:22Speaker 2: storyline that they couldn't have done in.
- 52:24Speaker 10: The old one.
- 52:25Speaker 12: And that was one thing that was pissing me off.
- 52:26Speaker 12: You can't Google shit that fast and find results like
- 52:28Speaker 12: the first thing. You can't do that.
- 52:29Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, because I try to look up people all
- 52:31Speaker 10: the time, and it takes me a good three, four hours.
- 52:34Speaker 12: And then usually me doing it for you. But still,
- 52:36Speaker 12: you can't just Google in somebody's first and last name
- 52:38Speaker 12: in the... First reply right there?
- 52:39Speaker 11: Especially if it's a normal name like Sarah Turner. Let's
- 52:44Speaker 11: Google Sarah Turner.
- 52:45Speaker 12: That's going to be the first thing that pops up
- 52:46Speaker 12: is exactly what you're looking for. No, that don't happen.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Well, I was being more tech geek because knowing how
- 52:53Speaker 2: I kill time uploading this every week, when he gets...
- 52:56Speaker 2: Spoiler alert. You almost see him get offed in that
- 52:59Speaker 2: last one. I'm like, wait, who uploaded that? Did Freddy
- 53:02Speaker 2: upload that after he killed him? Because if he killed
- 53:04Speaker 2: him while he was still recording, it wouldn't have ended
- 53:07Speaker 2: up on the internet. Somebody's got to upload it after
- 53:10Speaker 2: the fact.
- 53:11Speaker 10: See maybe he was see they make you think nobody
- 53:14Speaker 10: thinks about.
- 53:14Speaker 13: That I was a geek it was he was filming
- 53:17Speaker 13: it while he was and he got.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Maybe there's some sort of special intern webs version that
- 53:23Speaker 2: automatically does it while you're recording seriously.
- 53:26Speaker 11: Doubt it I don't know first take i mean.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Yeah no that's what i'm saying i'm like most of
- 53:30Speaker 2: these you put it together yourself you save it as
- 53:33Speaker 2: a file you upload it i don't know that i
- 53:35Speaker 2: just was being a tech geek there and going wait
- 53:37Speaker 2: a minute.
- 53:38Speaker 10: Well see that's the thing freddie came in and he uploaded.
- 53:41Speaker 2: It and he seems kind of like a geek i mean.
- 53:43Speaker 10: He updated his website.
- 53:45Speaker 12: He probably did that's the least he could do yeah
- 53:50Speaker 12: i can't have this guy just die off and not have.
- 53:53Speaker 10: Any evidence of him dying.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Yeah Got to put this out there for Nancy to buy.
- 53:57Speaker 10: Got to finish it.
- 53:59Speaker 2: All right. I guess we can wrap up with our
- 54:01Speaker 2: tech geek problems with the movie. So which of these
- 54:05Speaker 2: songs would you like to go out on here? Kind
- 54:07Speaker 2: of think what our options are. We've got Dance or Else,
- 54:11Speaker 2: Wooly Bully, Down in the Boiler Room, or In the
- 54:14Speaker 2: Midnight Hour.
- 54:15Speaker 5: I like Down in the Boiler Room.
- 54:16Speaker 10: Yeah, I second that one.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Are we up for that one?
- 54:19Speaker 12: I'm good.
- 54:19Speaker 5: Sounds good to me.
- 54:21Speaker 2: We will go out with Down in the Boiler Room, which,
- 54:23Speaker 2: by the way, as I went back and re-listened to
- 54:25Speaker 2: some of these, there's barely any Robert Englund in them.
- 54:28Speaker 2: It's like studio musicians, and it's mostly girls, and they're
- 54:31Speaker 2: singing like in unison, and there's like one girl taking lead,
- 54:35Speaker 2: and then every once in a while, Freddie goes, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 54:38Speaker 12: Oh, God.
- 54:38Speaker 10: You don't even do the Freddie?
- 54:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he's in, he's got his little lines
- 54:44Speaker 2: here and there.
- 54:44Speaker 11: Does it rap?
- 54:45Speaker 5: Because that'd be so sweet.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Not as much as I was hoping, really.
- 54:47Speaker 10: It'd probably be awesome if he, yeah, did it.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Unfortunately, we're going with Down in the Boiler Room.
- 54:53Speaker 11: I really wish they still made albums like this, you know?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Classy albums like freddie's greatest hits well no.
- 54:59Speaker 11: I just mean like you know there's no i mean
- 55:01Speaker 11: if a new movie comes out the bad guy doesn't
- 55:04Speaker 11: have this ridiculous joke.
- 55:05Speaker 12: Album you know i don't know greatest hits this is
- 55:09Speaker 12: no joke there's.
- 55:10Speaker 2: No joke they are serious about that shit woolly woolly
- 55:14Speaker 2: for fuck's sakes.
- 55:16Speaker 11: I like that all i have to do is dream
- 55:18Speaker 11: song i like that they closed with that i thought
- 55:21Speaker 11: that was a good choice.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that was interesting. And kind of them
- 55:26Speaker 2: being jokey about it all. Yeah. So, but, yeah, we'll
- 55:30Speaker 2: go out with Down in the Boiler Room since there's
- 55:32Speaker 2: no need for a boiler room in this movie.
- 55:34Speaker 5: No, no.
- 55:34Speaker 10: Nope, nope, nope.
- 55:35Speaker 2: All right, we will take a break and be back
- 55:38Speaker 2: with the rest of the show.
- 55:41Speaker 10: Down in the boiler.
- 55:47Speaker 9: Room You know it's scary You know it's dark You
- 55:57Speaker 9: ought to know Be.
- 55:59Speaker 7: Afraid to go Listen to your heart.
- 56:06Speaker 9: Afraid to stop And afraid to go.
- 56:17Speaker 3: He's waiting for you Darling.
- 56:21Speaker 14: Me And now, before the next show starts, let's enjoy
- 56:38Speaker 14: an information.

- 57:35Speaker 6: Uno, dos, one, two, tres, cuatro.
- 57:41Speaker 17: Watch it now. Watch it, watch it. Here it comes,
- 57:56Speaker 17: here it comes.
- 58:01Speaker 6: Yeah, that's right. You got it. Watch it now. And
- 58:13Speaker 6: it's all ready. About a thing she saw. With two
- 58:20Speaker 6: big horns.
- 58:20Speaker 11: And a world.
- 58:24Speaker 6: It's all about. And it's all ready.
- 58:37Speaker 2: All right we're back and we've got feedback.
- 58:42Speaker 8: Yes first up we heard from randy who has been
- 58:49Speaker 8: working on this for a while so he actually got
- 58:51Speaker 8: the the specifics together for his ketchup his uh i
- 58:55Speaker 8: think that's how he referred to it he's playing ketchup on.
- 58:57Speaker 2: The last several episodes.
- 58:59Speaker 10: Randy it is the unshakable randy.
- 59:02Speaker 18: Hey y'all it's randy here i figured i'd call in
- 59:05Speaker 18: and catch up on all the feedback that I haven't
- 59:07Speaker 18: done because I suck first of all it was great
- 59:10Speaker 18: seeing you guys at Horror Hound. I wish some of
- 59:12Speaker 18: the rest of the gang could have made it there.
- 59:14Speaker 18: You were definitely missed. Marlene, it was nice meeting you. Misty,
- 59:17Speaker 18: it was great meeting you. I'm less afraid of you
- 59:19Speaker 18: than I was before. And Brian, great as always. starting
- 59:24Speaker 18: with Triangle. I'm also more of a time crimes guy.
- 59:27Speaker 18: Listening to you, you uncovered a lot of stuff that
- 59:29Speaker 18: made me think about the movie and appreciate it more.
- 59:31Speaker 18: My two rewrites that would have been done on Triangle,
- 59:33Speaker 18: one or the other, would be either to rip off
- 59:36Speaker 18: the crow, where if you die within 100 miles of
- 59:39Speaker 18: the water, a seagull has to carry your soul away
- 59:42Speaker 18: once you ran over him. In the opening accident, the
- 59:46Speaker 18: rest of the seagulls were like, fuck it, get her!
- 59:48Speaker 18: And it was all seagull-based mayhem.
- 59:52Speaker 12: Maybe, hey.
- 59:53Speaker 2: It could happen.
- 59:54Speaker 18: The second thing is, and this is a little more realistic,
- 59:57Speaker 18: I get really aggravated when they take a movie and
- 1:00:00Speaker 18: they put all these tertiary characters in and then they're
- 1:00:03Speaker 18: just there suffering for no reason. The one scene that
- 1:00:05Speaker 18: would have made this movie absolutely rock would have been
- 1:00:08Speaker 18: if at the accident scene when she was getting out,
- 1:00:11Speaker 18: if the people that were either gawking or assisting or
- 1:00:15Speaker 18: whatever were all there in the crowd. Not laid out blatantly,
- 1:00:19Speaker 18: but if that was there and then she was somehow
- 1:00:21Speaker 18: projecting them into her private hell, that would be great. Otherwise,
- 1:00:25Speaker 18: what the fuck, universe? You know, I'm going out on
- 1:00:27Speaker 18: a boat because this bitch has problems. I have to
- 1:00:30Speaker 18: die endlessly until I'm stacked like cordwood. You know, fuck that.
- 1:00:35Speaker 18: Good movie, though. And great dissection. Well done. I have
- 1:00:40Speaker 18: the burbs on my to-watch pile because I'm an asshole
- 1:00:42Speaker 18: and I've never watched it. I just, I don't know.
- 1:00:45Speaker 18: Tom Hanks' cutesiness.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: I'm an asshole.
- 1:00:49Speaker 18: I avoid that kind of stuff, but I'll give it
- 1:00:50Speaker 18: a try. Brian, hats off to you for getting the
- 1:00:53Speaker 18: crew to sit through Night of the Lepus. It's got bunnies!
- 1:00:57Speaker 18: How can you not like that? I love that kind
- 1:00:59Speaker 18: of cheesy awfulness, and it was great hearing about it.
- 1:01:02Speaker 18: The Sasquatch movies, I love hearing you guys discuss them.
- 1:01:05Speaker 18: I'm never going to sit through them, because I live
- 1:01:08Speaker 18: in the suburbs. I'm Sasquatch-free. I'd like a Sasquatch, but
- 1:01:12Speaker 18: I'm more likely to get a Triffid, and that would
- 1:01:14Speaker 18: suck a dick. I always thought Lust in the Dust
- 1:01:18Speaker 18: was John Waters.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Who knew?
- 1:01:20Speaker 18: Black Waters of Echo's Pond, that was perhaps a masterstroke
- 1:01:23Speaker 18: by you guys. I really enjoyed the parking lot dissection.
- 1:01:28Speaker 18: It was like a CSI where you were standing around
- 1:01:30Speaker 18: the chalk outline of that goddamn film. You actually made
- 1:01:33Speaker 18: me want to see it. I don't know how you
- 1:01:36Speaker 18: did that, but I'm interested. Well done. Now I'm behind
- 1:01:40Speaker 18: and I haven't heard the Hit Girl, I mean Kick-Ass episode,
- 1:01:43Speaker 18: but But I wanted to give you a couple of thoughts,
- 1:01:45Speaker 18: so forgive me if I'm retreading familiar ground. I read
- 1:01:48Speaker 18: the comic, and I really enjoyed the comic, and I
- 1:01:50Speaker 18: like Matthew Vaughn's stuff. I think Layer Cake was really
- 1:01:53Speaker 18: an underrated film. That being said, the movie really felt homogenized.
- 1:01:58Speaker 18: It went through the system, and they took it and
- 1:02:00Speaker 18: screamed it in front of a bunch of mouth-breathing tourists
- 1:02:03Speaker 18: from God knows where, and they didn't get it. I'm
- 1:02:06Speaker 18: sure it never got that far. I'm sure the stuff
- 1:02:08Speaker 18: that was in the comic didn't make productions. But it
- 1:02:10Speaker 18: really would have been awesome. It was a lot darker,
- 1:02:13Speaker 18: a lot more violent. I'm thankful for what I got.
- 1:02:16Speaker 18: What I got was a good movie, but it could
- 1:02:17Speaker 18: have been a lot stronger. You know, movie made by committee.
- 1:02:21Speaker 18: What can you do? Other than that, thanks very much.
- 1:02:25Speaker 18: That's all I got. Out here.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Take care. Awesome.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: Yeah, take care.
- 1:02:30Speaker 12: I no longer strike fear in the heart of Randy.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Well, probably a little bit. Just not as much.
- 1:02:35Speaker 12: You make me sound so mean. I'm not really that mean.
- 1:02:39Speaker 12: I don't know.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: Do you go on with that, Jay?
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: Choose your words carefully, sir. She's not bad. What?
- 1:02:48Speaker 10: She's not bad. You just don't want to get on
- 1:02:50Speaker 10: her bad side.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: That's true.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: But, you know, a good 90% of the earth is
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: on your bad side. You just got to get on
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: the right side.
- 1:02:57Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: I do like the seagull idea, though. I like working
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: more seagulls, attacking people into that movie. Yeah. And the accident,
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: that's actually kind of cool if they would have worked
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: those people in standing around in two part of a
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: loop as it went on. That's kind of a cool idea, too.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: So I agree with that one. And just to let
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: you know, I am wearing my Black Waters of Echo
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Pond Echoes, whatever the hell that movie is, shirt right
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: now that I got from the producer of the movie.
- 1:03:28Speaker 12: Which I just remembered, oh, you told me that I
- 1:03:30Speaker 12: had one. I have no idea what happened to it.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: You got one, too. You watched the cheesy trailer. You
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: said you have, too.
- 1:03:34Speaker 12: Are you sure you didn't steal one?
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: No, we ended up with several after that.
- 1:03:38Speaker 11: When did this happen?
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't even remember. It was at a convention years ago. Oh, okay.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: He's been pushing this movie for at least two years
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: or more. And, yeah, so we watched the trailer a
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: long time ago.
- 1:03:49Speaker 12: I've been looking like a douchebag the whole time he's done.
- 1:03:51Speaker 8: Well, yeah.
- 1:03:52Speaker 10: Did I watch this movie?
- 1:03:54Speaker 11: No.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: No.
- 1:03:55Speaker 11: I was going to say, isn't that the director that
- 1:03:57Speaker 11: we saw at the last convention?
- 1:03:59Speaker 12: Mm-hmm. With all the kick-ass tattoos. Yeah.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:02Speaker 12: This douchebag hair.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: That's him.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: So, yeah, I... You know, I guess we're trading off.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: I'm still promoting it. Maybe that's the trade-off after the dissection. Really,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: I just thought it was funny when I put it
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: on this morning. It was just as a joke, mostly.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Because it's funny you're wearing it now.
- 1:04:22Speaker 11: That's what I think when I put my outfits on
- 1:04:25Speaker 11: every day. It's just a joke.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: This is just funny as hell. Nobody else gets it,
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: but I think this is funny. I do think that
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: a lot, actually.
- 1:04:33Speaker 12: That's part of why I wore my Boondock Saints shirt,
- 1:04:35Speaker 12: so I could bitch about how bad the second one was.
- 1:04:38Speaker 11: I have a striped French boat shirt on.
- 1:04:41Speaker 12: You're no Bill Moseley, I'll tell you that right now.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: He does wear girls' clothes better than most men.
- 1:04:47Speaker 11: Yeah, better than me.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: But yes, thank you, Randy.
- 1:04:53Speaker 11: Yay, Randy.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: As always, awesome to hear from you.
- 1:04:56Speaker 12: He doesn't call in near enough. Does he not love
- 1:04:58Speaker 12: us anymore?
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: He saves up.
- 1:05:01Speaker 11: You just need to give him your cell phone number, Misty,
- 1:05:03Speaker 11: to follow you sometimes.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I did talk to him.
- 1:05:07Speaker 11: You guys are, like, bored and chit-chat about what's going on.
- 1:05:10Speaker 12: All right, do we have any more feedback?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Yes, we do.
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Next up, we actually get quite a real-world response about
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: our juvenile cartoon discussion.
- 1:05:19Speaker 12: Oh, nice.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: Which is odd, because, you know, we don't usually know
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: how to operate around adults.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: I'm telling you, it's a conversation that spurs... Good conversation.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: I mean, everyone's got an opinion.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Yes, they do.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: I'm a wizard with my words.
- 1:05:36Speaker 12: You're a word master.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Be jealous.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Well, everybody does have an opinion, including Fozzie Bear. So
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: this week we hear from Fozzie Bear.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Hey, guys.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: This is Fozzie.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I just wanted to call because you were talking recently
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: about the vanishing Saturday morning cartoons. And I actually have
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: a theory about this, and I've done a little research,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: and I think I'm right, but I think I'm right
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: about everything. So what I think happened, you'll notice that
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: the cartoons actually started to fade around. I think maybe
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: the early 90s, late 80s, they started to disappear. Well,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: this is when the No Child Left Behind Act went
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: into place to increase the education of America's youth. and
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: part of that bill was to increase educational programming on television,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: and every television station was required to show a certain
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: amount of educational programming throughout the week for children. And
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: they had to fill so many hours, and most television
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: stations would only give up Saturday mornings because those were
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: lower ratings for them. They weren't really going to lose
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: any money, but to follow along with governmental guidelines, they
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: had to put educational programs on there. So that's why
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: now we just have, like, Bill Nye– and other scientists
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: doing experiments and having creepy old men have little boys
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: come to their apartment to do experiments all the time.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: So that's where we have all these shows, and that's
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: where cartoons have gone. So it's really sad, but I
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: blame the Clintons for it more than anything in the world.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: And that's my thoughts on that. Okay, you're doing a
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: great job. Hope to talk to you soon.
- 1:07:06Speaker 12: Bye.
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: I think he's correct.
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: No, yeah, definitely.
- 1:07:09Speaker 11: Yep. I really love Bill Nye and Beacon's World. I
- 1:07:11Speaker 11: fucking love the show.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: Remember Mr. Wizard way back in the day?
- 1:07:14Speaker 11: Mr.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: Wizard was the man. He was awesome.
- 1:07:16Speaker 12: I never watched any of those shows. I watched Bob
- 1:07:18Speaker 12: Ross as a child, which I am happy to report
- 1:07:20Speaker 12: that he is still on television.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: Yes, he is.
- 1:07:22Speaker 12: And he's on 1030 every morning on KET, and I
- 1:07:25Speaker 12: will tell everybody to watch Bob Ross.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: Yeah, Bill Nye and, you know, all those....
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: In thinking that, I'm trying to decide maybe Freddy Krueger
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: was just trying to be a scientist. Hey kids, would
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: you like to come down to the cave and do
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: some experiments? Maybe that's all he was up to. He
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: was just trying to, you know.
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: He's like weird and gross.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Let me show you my beakers.
- 1:07:47Speaker 11: Bill Nye was awesome because he's hot.
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: I don't know about that.
- 1:07:51Speaker 12: If you knew Marlena, you would realize that's a normal statement.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a very Marlena statement.
- 1:07:57Speaker 11: Beakman's World, awesome because there was a man and a
- 1:07:59Speaker 11: rat costume.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: And the chick was hot. Well, they changed several times.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: There was at least three of those.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: I like the first generation.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: The one was actually in a lot of other movies
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: and stuff. What's really sad, and if we still did
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: the dead people, I probably would have brought this up
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: that week. This has been probably several months ago now,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: but the guy in the rat suit's dead now.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: Wow, what happened?
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Isn't that sad?
- 1:08:20Speaker 11: That's so sad.
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: I'm going to cry.
- 1:08:22Speaker 12: Rat-related death?
- 1:08:24Speaker 11: You know, actually, I have a sick rat right now.
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: She has rhinitis.
- 1:08:27Speaker 11: She's dead. She had a stroke.
- 1:08:30Speaker 10: What the hell is Rhinox?
- 1:08:32Speaker 11: It's when her head is tilted to the side and
- 1:08:34Speaker 11: she can't move it any other way.
- 1:08:35Speaker 12: I'm not laughing because of that.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: It's the saddest thing.
- 1:08:39Speaker 12: I'm laughing because I call him Sugar Booger all the time.
- 1:08:42Speaker 11: And there's another rat named Dr.
- 1:08:43Speaker 12: Poopinstein.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: I never call him that.
- 1:08:45Speaker 11: I didn't name them.
- 1:08:47Speaker 13: Rhinox sounds like something you spray in your truck bed
- 1:08:50Speaker 13: to protect it from bricks.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: Rhino lining.
- 1:08:52Speaker 10: That's okay. It's got Rhinox.
- 1:08:54Speaker 11: It's really sad, but she's almost at the end of
- 1:08:57Speaker 11: her lifespan anyway, which is two years. So.
- 1:09:00Speaker 12: Wow our salamander's getting sluggish.
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: Yeah he's not eating the fish like he used to.
- 1:09:05Speaker 12: I think he just became friends with them yeah he.
- 1:09:07Speaker 10: Got tired of eating his buddies that's sad he realized.
- 1:09:10Speaker 13: That we're gonna buy it yeah i wasn't gonna buy
- 1:09:12Speaker 13: him another salamander play with so All right.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Mark Ritz was the lab rat on Beakman's World, and
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: it was kidney cancer. Died at 63. It's pretty sad.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: He was that old?
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, those shows were all from the 90s.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I mean, even as old as he was, they'd been
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: repeating for years.
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: Yeah, I know, but I mean, the 90s, it's... That was, like,
- 1:09:33Speaker 11: 20 years ago.
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: 20 years ago. So, I mean, if he was 40.
- 1:09:36Speaker 10: Yeah, don't remind me. 20 years ago.
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: I mean, because he looked pretty old in there. So,
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: I mean, if he was in his 40s at that point,
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:09:42Speaker 11: God, I just can't even believe the 90s were 20
- 1:09:46Speaker 11: years ago.
- 1:09:46Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Sad, isn't it?
- 1:09:47Speaker 10: You don't like that.
- 1:09:48Speaker 11: Not every part of the 90s.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: No, all of them. All of them.
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: All of them.
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: Oh, fuck.
- 1:09:53Speaker 11: 1999 wasn't 20.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Once you're done with the decade, they get crammed into
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: one little package, and they all get sorted into one
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: year in a box in that mom's attic.
- 1:10:05Speaker 10: Kind of a drunken blur for me.
- 1:10:08Speaker 11: And it just becomes a Mo Rocha talking about it
- 1:10:11Speaker 11: on I Love the 90s.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: That's right. We can't relive this stuff if it's not
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: for VH1.
- 1:10:17Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: They are in charge of our memories, and we trust them.
- 1:10:22Speaker 18: Houseparts.
- 1:10:24Speaker 8: Oh, God.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: I like Michael Ian Black for me.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I know.
- 1:10:27Speaker 11: What happened to him? He doesn't do anything anymore.
- 1:10:30Speaker 12: They sit around and wait for VH1 to make specials.
- 1:10:33Speaker 11: Actually, Mo Rocha and Bill Nye are both celebrity judges,
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: or whatchamacallit, on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which
- 1:10:42Speaker 11: is still on every morning.
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: Really?
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: It is?
- 1:10:45Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: That's sad.
- 1:10:47Speaker 11: They're the... celebrity lifeline or whatever.
- 1:10:51Speaker 10: What?
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: That is sad. They have nothing else to do but
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: sit by the phone waiting for people to call and go,
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: what is the capital Ecuador? I don't know. I used
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: to know that.
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: Well, shit, Beedleman or Bill Nye would be great lifelines.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: I mean, shit, we're all these people like that.
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: That's really smart.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: I'm not calling Michael.
- 1:11:12Speaker 11: And the other day, What's-Her-Face Blossom was on there.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Who the hell's Blossom? Malcolm Belcher.
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: What the fuck's her name? The hideous chick from that
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: TV show?
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not calling her either.
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: Rhinoplasty?
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Yeah, really.
- 1:11:26Speaker 12: That's like a damn dirty hippie.
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Regardless, thank you, Fozzie Bear.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: No, Fozzie Bear, thank you. That was awesome.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that was way more thought out than I expected
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: out of any of our listeners. So thank you for
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: coming through. Hey, Fozzie's a sophisticated gentleman.
- 1:11:42Speaker 11: I did like Fozzie, but I'm going to have to
- 1:11:44Speaker 11: say Gonzo was my favorite.
- 1:11:45Speaker 12: He did like chicken. Yeah.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: I did like Gonzo.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Actually, no, no, no, not Gonzo. I take it back.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: Rolf. Ralph. Ralph was good. Dr.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: Teeth was awesome.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: Dr. Teeth was awesome.
- 1:11:55Speaker 11: He was great. Benson and Beaker.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: All right. Otherwise, that is pretty much it for the feedback,
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: so keep it coming, guys.
- 1:12:03Speaker 10: There was somebody answered my question. Was it Neiman?
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: That was Greg, actually.
- 1:12:08Speaker 11: Okay.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: So if you wanted to, uh, Cindy, thank you out
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: to Greg for answering our question.
- 1:12:12Speaker 13: My, my key up question, which is why key up
- 1:12:16Speaker 13: in battle of the planets kept going, you know, Oh.
- 1:12:21Speaker 10: God, it drove me nuts. And it wasn't just me.
- 1:12:23Speaker 13: There are other people that I knew that grew up
- 1:12:24Speaker 13: at G-Force that were like, I wanted to strangle.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I was right there with you on that.
- 1:12:29Speaker 13: Greg, thank you for answering my question. The, uh, basically
- 1:12:32Speaker 13: he pointed out that was in the Japanese version. They
- 1:12:34Speaker 13: had to bleep out a lot of, cursing, which I
- 1:12:39Speaker 13: really want to go back and watch the original now.
- 1:12:42Speaker 10: Is it Gatchaman?
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: I always thought that's what it was, but I don't know.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I haven't watched that one either. Is all the cursing
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: in Gatchaman?
- 1:12:52Speaker 12: Yes, it is.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: It's the unedited version, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:12:56Speaker 13: Now I've got to go back and watch that so
- 1:12:58Speaker 13: it'll be even more enjoyable.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: I remember.
- 1:13:01Speaker 13: I actually went back on YouTube and watched some of
- 1:13:03Speaker 13: the older versions of just G-Force and just.
- 1:13:06Speaker 10: Realized the dialogue was so horrible. I could barely watch it.
- 1:13:11Speaker 12: My reaction is, is that Casey Kasem?
- 1:13:13Speaker 13: Yeah, it was Casey Kasem playing Mark.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: I forget about that.
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: It was just one of.
- 1:13:19Speaker 10: Those, look, here they come. They have guns.
- 1:13:21Speaker 12: It's like, why is Shaggy talking?
- 1:13:23Speaker 10: Run the other way.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Let's make a snack scoop. Oh, wait, wrong cartoon. I'm
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: on every cartoon on right now.
- 1:13:30Speaker 11: It's so weird how you think these cartoons are awesome
- 1:13:33Speaker 11: when you're growing up and you go back and rewatch
- 1:13:35Speaker 11: them as an adult, like a speed racer. Most people
- 1:13:38Speaker 11: that go back and watch that, that loved it as
- 1:13:40Speaker 11: a kid, they're like, God damn. Damn, this show is stupid.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: A lot of those were pretty bad.
- 1:13:43Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Especially Hanna-Barbera. As much as I liked Hanna-Barbera, they were hacks,
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: and they didn't hide it.
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: Oh, hell yeah.
- 1:13:51Speaker 10: Thundar the Barbarian.
- 1:13:52Speaker 12: I just bought me some She-Ra, so I'm going to
- 1:13:54Speaker 12: be watching that. I also got an AJ Wright that
- 1:13:56Speaker 12: had She-Ra. The best of She-Ra with the movie in
- 1:13:59Speaker 12: five episodes.
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: Oh, that's good.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not so good.
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: That's a deal.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Have you seen the movie?
- 1:14:03Speaker 10: It's been a while.
- 1:14:05Speaker 12: Oh, man.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: I just heard a wrap-up of the movie in the
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: last few months.
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: And wow, it is.
- 1:14:09Speaker 10: Was it a live action?
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: No.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: It was like five episodes strung together, basically.
- 1:14:13Speaker 10: That's all it was. I'm excited.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: Good luck.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: I want to hear the recap on that one from you, too,
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: because I'm not sure how it's going to go over.
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: But, yep, thank you to everyone who sent us feedback
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: this week. So keep it coming.
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 1:14:31Speaker 11: Thanks. Don't be shy.
- 1:14:34Speaker 12: Just let your feelings.
- 1:14:36Speaker 13: Roll on by.
- 1:14:38Speaker 15: Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you. So
- 1:14:41Speaker 15: give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can email

- 1:15:03Speaker 10: On by, on by.
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: On by, on by.
- 1:15:08Speaker 12: I was mad. I was mad at Sean Patrick Flannery
- 1:15:12Speaker 12: for looking like he did.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: That's sad because, dude, that's your career. You were supposed
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: to be a pretty boy.
- 1:15:18Speaker 10: Yeah, she was like, put your shirt back on.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: You get fat.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: It's over, dude.
- 1:15:21Speaker 12: Him and the other guy. I mean, Sean Patrick Flannery,
- 1:15:24Speaker 12: his face is just swelled up. And I said, he
- 1:15:28Speaker 12: looks like, at some point I'm like, is that Alan Rickman?
- 1:15:31Speaker 12: Because he's starting to look like Alan Rickman.
- 1:15:34Speaker 10: You weren't the only one who thought that either.
- 1:15:35Speaker 12: I looked it up.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: Everybody's like, what's Alan Rickman doing?
- 1:15:40Speaker 12: If you Google what happened to Sean Patrick Flannery's face,
- 1:15:42Speaker 12: you'll find a lot of shit.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Okay, kids, get out your decoder pins.
- 1:15:45Speaker 18: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: Set your pins to B2. Here is the message.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: It is time. Well, the movie meltdown secret. I don't know.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: We don't even know for sure what we're watching. Wowzers.
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: We're actually, well, we're still going where we said we
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: were going, but not necessarily next week. Next week, some
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: of us won't be here, so we're probably going to
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: rework things a little bit. So we'll have to see. Basically,
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: I'm going to see what I decide to put together
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: between now and next week.
- 1:16:15Speaker 12: You're going to find some shit that I don't want
- 1:16:16Speaker 12: to watch.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: No, not necessarily. There's another idea I've been toying with.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: So if I can make that happen, it's going to
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: be awesome. If not, we're going to pick something that
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: probably Misty doesn't want to watch.
- 1:16:25Speaker 10: Nazis.
- 1:16:27Speaker 12: Whatever.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: Misty loves Nazis.
- 1:16:28Speaker 11: I like movies about Nazis sometimes. Depends on the movie, really.
- 1:16:32Speaker 12: Not even zombie Nazis can bring me in sometimes.
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: I really like Dead Snow.
- 1:16:36Speaker 11: I have nightmares about that shit fox scene though.
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: Shit fox scene? I need to see this.
- 1:16:45Speaker 12: I think you do.
- 1:16:45Speaker 11: I like the movie.
- 1:16:46Speaker 12: You can watch it now on Netflix.
- 1:16:47Speaker 11: If you have it.
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: I know. You can't.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: But the following week we will end up where we
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: said we were going the last time anyway. So we
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: are going to watch April Fool's Day. Yay! Get excited.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: I'm excited.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: I've actually already been contacted by several people.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Well, I'm pretty sure Nick at Eskimo and Barbarella were
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: both on board for the, for God's sakes, don't watch
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: the remake. Which just fueled my fire to go and
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: make sure I at least watch it. And I told them,
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: I was like, don't worry, I'm not inflicting it upon
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: everyone else, but yeah, they said it's really bad.
- 1:17:25Speaker 12: Are we done?
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: Almost.
- 1:17:31Speaker 12: All right, that's where I'm going to ask for Roger
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: to leave.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: All right, on that note, I think we will wrap
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: it up. So, yeah, I guess we should go out with,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: what did we say? Do the Freddy.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: How are we going out? Do the Freddy?
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Do the Freddy is pretty classically horrible.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: He's doing it on the back of the album.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to, I think, inflict the Do the
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Freddy upon you. So this is from Freddy's Greatest Hits.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: And wait, what is the band called? Turn on the front.
- 1:17:54Speaker 11: What is it?
- 1:17:55Speaker 12: The Elm Street Group.
- 1:17:56Speaker 11: Ah, yes.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Freddie and the Elm Street Group doing Do the Freddie.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: So enjoy.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: And we're sorry.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: And do the Freddie. Otherwise, that about does it. We
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Thanks for listening.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: Thanks, guys.
- 1:18:08Speaker 12: Rock on.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: Sweet.
- 1:18:09Speaker 12: Bye-bye.
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: I'm Freddie, and this is for you.
- 1:18:23Speaker 7: Hear the happy feet dancing to the beat of the thread.
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: Throw that guy.
- 1:18:31Speaker 7: In front, make a line in back, then you're ready.
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: Pick your feet up, swing your arms up to move
- 1:18:43Speaker 7: your head both ways like you see him do.
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: Then jump, repeat to the sweet.
