- 0:00Speaker 1: Hang in by a moment. That's our theme today at
- 0:02Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. Yeah, I'm not
- 0:05Speaker 1: going to talk too much about this one more time.
- 0:07Speaker 1: But I just have to mention that we were warned
- 0:09Speaker 1: like there's computer issues today. And when you hit certain buttons,
- 0:12Speaker 1: certain things don't play. And then it might play twice.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And we were warned when we came in today. Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And so far, we've had a couple of glitches. Not
- 0:19Speaker 1: too bad. We're on the air.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Bear with us.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Bear with us.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It's a great message to receive at like four in
- 0:24Speaker 2: the morning when your brain's not even working yet. Like, hi,
- 0:27Speaker 2: nothing's working in the studio. Oh, and by the way,
- 0:29Speaker 2: the Helix into the Lincoln Tunnel is closed. Have a
- 0:32Speaker 2: nice day.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We were bombarded with bad messages. Victress, our overnight guy,
- 0:36Speaker 1: warning us about the computer. Trevor down the hall.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, letting us know.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Letting us know he's ahead of us in traffic and
- 0:41Speaker 1: don't go Lincoln. Oh, boy.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Then at that point, it's like, can I just go
- 0:45Speaker 2: back to bed?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Our heart was racing.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Oh, wait, we have responsibilities.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I know, we've got to do this for a radio show.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Let me see, is Mercury, I think Mercury in Retrograde started.
- 0:52Speaker 2: It did officially, yes.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I'm such a believer in this.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It really did.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I used to laugh at people that talked about it,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and now I totally get it. There it is, yeah.
- 0:59Speaker 1: October 24th to November 13th is Mercury in Retrograde, where
- 1:04Speaker 1: certain communications and tech go awry at times.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I feel like nothing's been working. I had to run
- 1:09Speaker 2: to CBS for my sister-in-law, and I couldn't put in
- 1:12Speaker 2: her cbs number because that whole system was down so
- 1:15Speaker 2: we couldn't use any coupons it's.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Small things like that oh and stop and shop too
- 1:19Speaker 1: well they had that big hack.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah they had a hack we've got some stuff.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Going on i hope your podcast recorded oh i hope
- 1:26Speaker 1: it recorded you recorded a podcast yesterday we finished our
- 1:29Speaker 1: show i went home and you went down to lower
- 1:32Speaker 1: manhattan recording.
- 1:32Speaker 2: The podcast milanio gomez he's the host of a life
- 1:35Speaker 2: creative and he is i i love him so much
- 1:38Speaker 2: he we work together when I was hosting shows for
- 1:41Speaker 2: Martha Stewart's channel.
- 1:42Speaker 1: That's so cool. So is he like an interior decorator,
- 1:44Speaker 1: you said?
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, he's an interior designer. He's got the most beautiful
- 1:47Speaker 2: taste and he does such high-end stuff, Cubby. Like, you know,
- 1:51Speaker 2: he's Pottery Barn Magazine. He was just doing something in
- 1:54Speaker 2: Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So you walk into his apartment or whatever.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I never wanted to leave.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And you say, I want everything you have.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I was like, if I had an apartment like this,
- 2:04Speaker 2: I would never want to leave. Like, every detail to like,
- 2:09Speaker 2: What bathroom products they were using. Smelled beautiful. And everything
- 2:14Speaker 2: was labeled.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Really?
- 2:15Speaker 2: So we decant and we label. So we know what
- 2:18Speaker 2: the hand soap is and what the face soap is.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And he prepared lunch. So he did, you know how,
- 2:25Speaker 2: I'm never good with French croque monsieur.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Better than me.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah. So he cooked those for us. He made a beautiful,
- 2:32Speaker 2: beautiful salad. He had French press coffee. He had home-baked cookies.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Taking care of the guests, man.
- 2:39Speaker 2: And then after we were done with the podcast, which
- 2:41Speaker 2: was so much fun because we just, we love each
- 2:44Speaker 2: other and love talking.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I can tell you.
- 2:45Speaker 2: So it was a great conversation. And he loves you
- 2:47Speaker 2: too on our show and Kristen. He sent me home
- 2:51Speaker 2: with a package of home-baked cookies that was like beautifully wrapped.
- 2:54Speaker 2: So I had something to share with Eric when I
- 2:57Speaker 2: got home.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So did you guys talk about like your career and
- 2:59Speaker 1: a little interior decorating, like everything?
- 3:01Speaker 2: I wish we talked about interior decorating. We just talked
- 3:04Speaker 2: about me. which feels so weird.
- 3:07Speaker 1: But he wanted you on the podcast because you are
- 3:08Speaker 1: the famous Christine.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So, I mean, I mean, you know, seriously, with a
- 3:13Speaker 2: grain of salt there with the, but thank you.
- 3:16Speaker 1: You have some stories though. You have some good stories.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Well, he's, he appreciates the, the, the time I've put
- 3:22Speaker 2: into my career and I appreciate that. He recognizes that. Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: So when can we catch this in a couple of weeks?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Um, yeah, they think it'll be ready to go around Thanksgiving. Again,
- 3:30Speaker 2: it's a life creative, um, as Melanio Gomez and, He's
- 3:34Speaker 2: just wonderful. Follow him on Instagram and look at his
- 3:36Speaker 2: beautiful designs, his gorgeous work. Listen to the podcast. He
- 3:39Speaker 2: does it with his husband, Chris. They're great.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I'll check it out for sure. And you can get
- 3:43Speaker 1: all your podcasts right here on the iHeartRadio app. So
- 3:46Speaker 1: download that free iHeartRadio app. Three hours commercial free coming
- 3:49Speaker 1: up at 8.20. We got Jonas Brothers tickets at 7.25.
- 3:52Speaker 1: We got MJ the Musical at 8.10. It's a busy
- 3:55Speaker 1: day here. Light FM.
- 3:56Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Covey and Christine's.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You know, Christine, nothing helps you greet the day like
- 4:11Speaker 1: watching a dog poop. And if you don't have your
- 4:13Speaker 1: own dog... You have the advantage of looking at a
- 4:16Speaker 1: dog pooping every time you check the date. You may
- 4:20Speaker 1: not want it in your home or cubicle, but the
- 4:22Speaker 1: pooping dogs calendar could make a pretty crazy white elephant gift.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:27Speaker 1: The 2027 edition is now available for purchase. It's 12
- 4:31Speaker 1: real dogs from around the world. They're not AI generated.
- 4:35Speaker 2: They're not shy. No.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But you got Luna taking a poop. You got Rio
- 4:41Speaker 1: taking a poop. Just some of the dogs pooping. And, yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: go to poopingpooches.com to purchase your 2027 calendar.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That's a lot of P's right there.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Pooping, you're right.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Poopingpooches.com to purchase.
- 4:53Speaker 1: All right, what do you have as a cool thing?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Cubby, cereal's been around for 163 years now. You'd think
- 5:01Speaker 2: someone had come up with this earlier, but finally it
- 5:04Speaker 2: has arrived. Re-sealable bags for our cereal.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Thank you. Welcome to 2026.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Cheerios is teaming up with Ziploc for a new resealable bag,
- 5:15Speaker 2: and it comes with a built-in pour spout. So it's
- 5:19Speaker 2: called the Pantry Seal, and it will launch with Cheerios
- 5:23Speaker 2: and Honey Nut Cheerios. This is just for starters, like
- 5:26Speaker 2: starting off at Walmart, and then it'll be in stores everywhere.
- 5:29Speaker 2: But can you imagine that? You're finally able to open
- 5:33Speaker 2: up your cereal. You don't have to, like, roll it
- 5:35Speaker 2: and crumple it and hope for the best.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You just slide the thing across, right?
- 5:38Speaker 2: Get the still. Yep. You will just be able to
- 5:41Speaker 2: open it, pour it out because it makes a little spout,
- 5:43Speaker 2: then push it back in the box. It'll seal back
- 5:46Speaker 2: up and all is well.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Seriously, I can't believe that. You said 163 years cereal's
- 5:50Speaker 1: been around and they just got the Ziploc bag.
- 5:52Speaker 2: And they went, uh-oh.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Well, that's funny.
- 5:56Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Hey, where's the best place to go for a romantic destination?
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think we have the answer. It's Light FM, Cubby, Christine,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and Kristen. Thinking honeymoon, thinking anything with the partner that
- 6:11Speaker 1: could be considered romantic.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, just a little getaway.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to get away. Is New York on there,
- 6:15Speaker 1: by the way? I haven't seen the list.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Oh.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Like New York City?
- 6:18Speaker 2: I'm sorry to tell you this, but no.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I was thinking, okay, good. Because I love New York City,
- 6:22Speaker 1: but I'm like, no. It's got to be somewhere warm
- 6:25Speaker 1: and somewhere palm trees.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Actually, it's usually been Paris.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Wow.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Paris has been number one for years and years and years.
- 6:34Speaker 2: But this latest survey found that Maui... has edged out
- 6:39Speaker 2: Paris as the most romantic destination.
- 6:41Speaker 1: There you go.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Just because of everything, I'm guessing? Just perfect?
- 6:46Speaker 2: You know, I just recently was reflecting on Eric and
- 6:49Speaker 2: the trips we've done and what my favorite trips have been.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And we went to Maui. And I always thought, I
- 6:55Speaker 2: want to go back there. I want to go back.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And I was thinking, that was one of our greatest vacations.
- 6:59Speaker 2: It was just so beautiful. Everything went right.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so gorgeous. Good food, good people.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And it's someplace like he had been a lot, so
- 7:06Speaker 2: he could show me around. which was nice. So anyway,
- 7:10Speaker 2: that's Eric and me. But for the, you know, that's us.
- 7:14Speaker 2: We love Paris. That's where we got engaged. So it
- 7:17Speaker 2: is now officially Maui, Paris. And then it looks like
- 7:22Speaker 2: we also love Rome, Venice, and Cancun.
- 7:26Speaker 1: There you go.
- 7:26Speaker 2: That's rounding out the top five.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Why is Paris always associated with love? Like, why does
- 7:31Speaker 1: it always come up in the romantic world?
- 7:33Speaker 2: It's called the City of Lights, right? But it feels
- 7:35Speaker 2: like the City of Love.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Oh, wait. No, you're right. I'm looking it up. Paris
- 7:39Speaker 1: is called the city of love because of a mix
- 7:42Speaker 1: of historical culture. You got artistic movements, global storytelling, and
- 7:48Speaker 1: it built a romantic myth. It's a powerful.
- 7:51Speaker 2: It is. But I just I feel like I see
- 7:53Speaker 2: a lot of romance around me. I've only been to
- 7:55Speaker 2: Paris a couple of times.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You got the writers, the poets.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 2: All that artists, all that beauty. The architecture can be beautiful.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Where's the caucus? Is it the caucus New Jersey on there?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Oh, number 89.
- 8:08Speaker 1: 89.
- 8:09Speaker 2: But Vienna has a lot of that going on, too,
- 8:11Speaker 2: I will say, for a very romantic, beautiful place, like
- 8:14Speaker 2: for the art and the architecture and the music and everything.
- 8:17Speaker 2: That's another. There's so many beautiful places.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I just think, I don't know why, I just think
- 8:21Speaker 1: romance should be warm. I don't know. I know Paris
- 8:24Speaker 1: and Rome and all that. But I just think, like
- 8:27Speaker 1: Maldives for us. My wife and I, our honeymoon was
- 8:29Speaker 1: the Maldives. To me, that was beautiful. That was love.
- 8:32Speaker 1: That was romance.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Then again, it was our honeymoons. Maybe I associate that
- 8:36Speaker 1: in my head.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I think that looks like a pretty romantic spot. But yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 2: that's why I think Maui's number one. And then you
- 8:40Speaker 2: have Cancun at number five.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Which that also seems kind of weird to me, even
- 8:45Speaker 1: though it fits the category of warm and palm trees,
- 8:47Speaker 1: which I like. It seems young, like young demo.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I know you probably think of it as spring break,
- 8:52Speaker 2: but there are beautiful, beautiful resorts. Like there's couples only
- 8:56Speaker 2: resorts there that are just gorgeous. I found it romantic.
- 8:59Speaker 2: They said they feel like people right now are looking
- 9:02Speaker 2: for smaller, less crowded destinations to get away for romance.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So that's why they think the major cities are falling
- 9:11Speaker 2: off a little bit. Because everybody's Instagramming all these pictures
- 9:15Speaker 2: and everything. You can't, like, get to places anymore. That's true. So,
- 9:18Speaker 2: you know, now people want their own kind of private
- 9:20Speaker 2: moment getaway.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Well, congratulations to Maui. Number one.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and it is so, so, so beautiful. So, yes.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Mort Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I know we talk about Halloween costumes a lot this
- 9:33Speaker 1: time of year, but how about this? What costume are
- 9:37Speaker 1: you expecting to see next? At least like 50 times
- 9:40Speaker 1: this Halloween. Either you open the door for trick-or-treating or
- 9:43Speaker 1: someone's dressing up at work.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Go to a party.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Go to a party. You're going to see this a
- 9:47Speaker 1: million times. It's Light FM, Cubby, Christine, Producer Kristen. Where
- 9:51Speaker 1: do we start, Christine? There's so many.
- 9:53Speaker 2: I mean, we can start with the basics like Spider-Man
- 9:55Speaker 2: and Batman.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Every year, right?
- 9:56Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. They show up at the door. A lot
- 9:58Speaker 2: of them.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Correct.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Yes.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You're going to see a lot of Dolly Partons this year.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 10:03Speaker 2: It definitely makes sense. And my friends are doing this,
- 10:07Speaker 2: Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder, because that documentary has taken
- 10:12Speaker 2: off like crazy.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Now, this one, Mike Ditka, legendary football coach. He recently passed.
- 10:19Speaker 1: A lot of people are wearing the white T-shirt with
- 10:21Speaker 1: the bear's vest on and a mustache. That's really kind
- 10:25Speaker 1: of recent. So there's a high probability that you'll see
- 10:28Speaker 1: a lot of Mike Dickus because it's so recent and
- 10:30Speaker 1: people want to honor him.
- 10:32Speaker 2: And people going as Kelly Clarkson with the bird from
- 10:35Speaker 2: the store, you know, the bird that she wanted to buy.
- 10:37Speaker 1: See, I feel like that story is already done.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 10:39Speaker 1: You're right. You know, that came and went.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You got to move on that one.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You may see a lot of that. Now, I thought
- 10:45Speaker 1: of you, Christy, when I saw this. Patricia from Widow's Bay.
- 10:48Speaker 4: Oh.
- 10:48Speaker 1: A show that you told me I should watch.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Good one. Yeah, you should watch it. It's a great show.
- 10:53Speaker 1: How will I know if I see a Patricia from
- 10:54Speaker 1: Widow's Bay?
- 10:55Speaker 2: I'd have to explain it to you. Is it? Because
- 10:57Speaker 2: you don't.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Is it a.
- 11:00Speaker 2: It's her style.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Sexy costume?
- 11:01Speaker 2: No, it's not sexy at all. It's like anti-sexy.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 11:05Speaker 2: And she's very awkward. And Nikki from Obsession... which I've
- 11:09Speaker 2: already seen a couple of people doing that one. I
- 11:11Speaker 2: love that one. I think Anne Sayre is Nikki from
- 11:14Speaker 2: obsession for my friend, you know, for her, her Halloween party.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Are you going to her party by the way? Yes.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:19Speaker 2: She wanted me to go as Elizabeth Holmes.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Oh, that would have been great.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Actually.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Oh, you could have.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Probably hearing this. And then she's upset with me because
- 11:27Speaker 2: I just went to Amazon, and I'm like, good witch.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I just made it easy.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Well, here's the good news, though. Listen, Anne, if you're
- 11:33Speaker 1: not going to be it, apparently a lot of people are,
- 11:35Speaker 1: so maybe somebody else will be.
- 11:36Speaker 2: She said she's going to be Nikki from Obsession for
- 11:38Speaker 2: the party, and she's going to be Elizabeth Holmes for
- 11:41Speaker 2: Halloween because she's doing her party the night before Halloween
- 11:44Speaker 2: when she hands out the candy.
- 11:45Speaker 1: All right, now, so for the record, my kids, so Miles,
- 11:49Speaker 1: my four-year-old, will be McQueen from Cars.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Cute, yes.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And Naomi will be Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters. She's six.
- 11:55Speaker 1: So if you're opening the door and you see kids,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you're going to see a lot of K-pop Demon Hunters.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And you're going to see a lot of McQueens. I
- 12:01Speaker 1: think Cars never goes away. Never. Jagger. A shout out
- 12:04Speaker 1: to Jagger. Naomi's. Naomi's. Kristen's son.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 1: He should be Michael Jackson.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And Michael Jackson's on the list as like one of
- 12:11Speaker 2: the most popular costumes this year. And we've seen pictures
- 12:14Speaker 2: because producer Kristen is, you know. They're getting ready. They're
- 12:18Speaker 2: getting ready for the day. And Jagger has it down.
- 12:20Speaker 1: He had the black hat on.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:22Speaker 1: White shirt.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Black pants. Head tilted down.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Head tilted down. You know. One foot up.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 1: You got to have the dance move ready.
- 12:28Speaker 2: He looks so, so good. And then, is it Princess Jasmine?
- 12:33Speaker 2: Princess Jasmine for Bowie.
- 12:34Speaker 1: She looks adorable. Yeah, that's right.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Because Bowie's dressed like that. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 4: All right.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Hit us up at 44363. Fill in the blank. What
- 12:41Speaker 1: costume are you going to see 50 times today? this Halloween.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It could be the kids, it could be the adults,
- 12:46Speaker 1: but you're going to see a lot of it. We
- 12:48Speaker 1: want to hear from you. Add to the list. What
- 12:49Speaker 1: do you have coming up in the news, Christine?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Cubby, speaking of Halloween, remember, we get an extra hour
- 12:54Speaker 2: of it this year.
- 12:55Speaker 1: All right, coming up.
- 12:56Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Christine, good morning.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And good morning, Cubby. Well, a former NYPD detective is
- 13:05Speaker 2: accused in a deadly road rage shooting on the GW Bridge,
- 13:08Speaker 2: now facing a murder charge. So Manhattan grand jury upgraded
- 13:13Speaker 2: Victor Romero's manslaughter charge to second-degree murder on Tuesday. Dozens
- 13:17Speaker 2: of Con Ed workers were there to support their co-worker
- 13:22Speaker 2: who had passed 46-year-old Coran Irvine. His married father of
- 13:26Speaker 2: two was shot and killed after his car nearly collided
- 13:29Speaker 2: with Romero's on the bridge. And a push is being
- 13:32Speaker 2: made to ban e-bikes in Central Park. A large group
- 13:36Speaker 2: of protesters showing up yesterday saying they want a full ban.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And they're also against the planned redesign of the park's
- 13:42Speaker 2: six-mile loop, saying you're just like creating a superhighway for
- 13:46Speaker 2: the e-bikes. They say as pedestrians you don't stand a chance.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so busy in Central Park sometimes, and they're
- 13:53Speaker 1: flying by.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Well, we know we can't get across the street here.
- 13:56Speaker 1: We have issues on the street here, yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Federal Reserve announcing a decision today on interest rates expected
- 14:01Speaker 2: to hold steady. This is the last meeting that they're
- 14:05Speaker 2: going to have ahead of the midterm elections. Congratulations to
- 14:10Speaker 2: the state of New Jersey, America's third-oldest state capitol building,
- 14:14Speaker 2: where President Lincoln spoke before state leaders in 1861. Governor
- 14:19Speaker 2: Sherrill has signed a bill into law establishing New Jersey
- 14:22Speaker 2: History Day. December 18th will now mark the day for
- 14:26Speaker 2: schools to take the day or week to celebrate the
- 14:29Speaker 2: state's history and contributions to the nation. A couple of
- 14:32Speaker 2: things happening in town today. We just saw the ice
- 14:34Speaker 2: skating rink opening, right? Walman Ice Skating Rink.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Walman's opening, yep.
- 14:37Speaker 2: And the Winter Village at Bryan Park is opening today.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we're flipping to Christmas at noon. Joke.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Sports, hockey, Devils beat the Stars 5-1. Islanders defeated the
- 14:49Speaker 2: Predators 4-3. Knicks beat the Pistons 111-97. Nets lost to
- 14:52Speaker 2: the Celtics in overtime 125-124. World Series, Tampa Bay hanging
- 14:54Speaker 2: in there. They won. They beat the Brewers 4-3, so
- 15:01Speaker 2: we get game five tonight at 8.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Avoiding the sweep.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yes. And Halloween brings the treats. And this year, the
- 15:08Speaker 2: next morning brings an extra hour. Don't forget. So if
- 15:11Speaker 2: you're partying on Halloween, you get an extra hour to party.
- 15:14Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So when do clocks go back? Daylight savings time ends Sunday,
- 15:20Speaker 2: November 1st at 2 a.m.
- 15:23Speaker 1: There you go.
- 15:23Speaker 2: That means another hour for your celebrations or sleep. Followed
- 15:27Speaker 2: by earlier sunsets.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Do you have any clocks that manually need to go back?
- 15:31Speaker 1: I have two.
- 15:31Speaker 2: We have a few.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 2: We have like little ones in the bathroom or some,
- 15:35Speaker 2: you know, like odd places.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I forget if like the microwave. I think we still
- 15:40Speaker 2: have to do that stuff.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Two ovens I have to do.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:42Speaker 1: We have an old school clock in one of the
- 15:44Speaker 1: bathrooms that I. Right. But other than that, everything's automatic. Right.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Oh, and the car. I don't have my car set
- 15:50Speaker 2: to automatic for some reason. I should. Yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Oh, so you're going to get in Monday morning and go, huh?
- 15:54Speaker 2: What time is it?
- 15:56Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Do you have a toilet plunger? It's very important. 106.7
- 16:04Speaker 1: Light FM. How dare you? Covey, Christine.
- 16:06Speaker 2: It's personal.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Kristen's hanging out. The reason I said that to get
- 16:10Speaker 1: your attention is because we're reading a list of the
- 16:13Speaker 1: best example of things that you should buy before you
- 16:16Speaker 1: need it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Because something will happen and you'll be like, why didn't
- 16:20Speaker 1: I have that? And toilet plunger caught my eye.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Right up there at the top.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Do you have one by every toilet?
- 16:25Speaker 2: We have several.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Even the small plastic ones you get at Marshalls
- 16:30Speaker 1: or something.
- 16:30Speaker 2: The junky ones, it doesn't matter. Pass, go to the next.
- 16:33Speaker 1: And you have one good wooden one. I feel like
- 16:35Speaker 1: we all have the one professional one.
- 16:37Speaker 2: That's the one that we can never find when we
- 16:38Speaker 2: need it.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah. So you go with the small one you got
- 16:40Speaker 1: at TJ Maxx. Yeah, exactly.
- 16:41Speaker 4: All right.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So toilet plunger's on there. EpiPen is on there. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: feel free, as we mention things, to text us and
- 16:48Speaker 1: add to the list. Things that you should have before
- 16:51Speaker 1: you need it. You buy it now. Fire extinguisher. Always
- 16:54Speaker 1: good to have, right?
- 16:54Speaker 2: Yeah, you're supposed to.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I mean, if you're up to code, too, when you're
- 16:57Speaker 2: selling a house, you've got to have it.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Yes.
- 16:58Speaker 2: And it's in the kitchen. Yeah, didn't I say, Cubby,
- 17:01Speaker 2: this is like adulting.
- 17:03Speaker 1: It really is.
- 17:03Speaker 2: It's a little adulting lesson that these are things we
- 17:06Speaker 2: need around the house that once we start to get,
- 17:08Speaker 2: quote unquote, responsible, you will... find that your parents were right. Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Like, I mean, look, a will. It's always kind of
- 17:15Speaker 1: hard to talk about, but it's very important. And my
- 17:18Speaker 1: wife and I did one before the kids were born.
- 17:21Speaker 2: With instruction.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, all that kind of stuff.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And I felt a lot better walking out of there knowing, like,
- 17:27Speaker 1: people were covered. Right. It's tough to do again, but boom,
- 17:30Speaker 1: it's locked up in a vault somewhere and we're good.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Although we might have to tweak it.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I think I have to start tweaking. I did mine.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I did mine before Eric showed up.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so how often do you tweak a wheel? This
- 17:41Speaker 1: is a whole new conversation.
- 17:42Speaker 2: So Eric's on his own now. I know, right?
- 17:45Speaker 1: And you didn't have Archie the last time you did
- 17:46Speaker 1: your wheel, right? You got to get the cat in
- 17:48Speaker 1: there now?
- 17:49Speaker 2: I did.
- 17:50Speaker 1: We didn't have kids.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I think, yes. I think we all have to go
- 17:53Speaker 2: back to the drawing board.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Flashlight and lots of batteries.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:57Speaker 1: You got to have that. That's a good example of
- 17:59Speaker 1: buy it before you need it.
- 18:00Speaker 2: That is so true. My father always had that stuff.
- 18:02Speaker 2: You don't need them as often anymore because it's kind
- 18:04Speaker 2: of changed with technology, but he always had light bulbs.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And a weather radio.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Oh, well, weather radio.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Remember the one radio that would just do weather? And
- 18:13Speaker 1: it would be like an automated voice. Current temperature in
- 18:16Speaker 1: Cape May is 52 degrees. Winds. It was just that.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Spare keys for your car and house.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Yep.
- 18:24Speaker 2: The wet-dry vac? That's a big deal.
- 18:28Speaker 1: We don't have one of those in our home.
- 18:30Speaker 2: You need one of those because it's also on your
- 18:33Speaker 2: water leak detector. So if... Your hot water heater ever goes?
- 18:38Speaker 1: I have one of those. Okay.
- 18:40Speaker 2: So you have the detector?
- 18:41Speaker 1: It's right by the water heater. So if something happens,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I'll get notified.
- 18:43Speaker 2: It'll alert you. That's important. Because once that baby starts
- 18:46Speaker 2: to leak, you can't stop it. And that's like if
- 18:49Speaker 2: you have a wet vac that's going to help you.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I learned you need a bucket and sponges because ours
- 18:55Speaker 2: started leaking. Like really, that's so basic, but you need it.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Wow.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 1: A carbon monoxide detector. I think every home has them
- 19:03Speaker 1: by now, but please get one. First aid kit nearby.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Do you have an emergency phone power bank?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Do you remember during Sandy, which is by the way,
- 19:14Speaker 1: 14 years ago tomorrow. Wow. Do you remember people in
- 19:17Speaker 1: the parking lot in their cars charging their phones?
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Like we had power banks back then, but you didn't
- 19:24Speaker 1: have power. So you couldn't.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Right. There was nothing to plug in.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I remember everyone hanging out in their car, charging their phone.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But now the power banks these days, you can charge
- 19:31Speaker 1: and they'll last for a long time.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I was thinking there was like a hair salon that
- 19:35Speaker 2: we went to because they had power, but so many
- 19:37Speaker 2: of us plugged in and they were using hair dryers
- 19:39Speaker 2: that the whole place went.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It really blew a fuse. Also recommended a password manager
- 19:45Speaker 1: and emergency access setup.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I've never done that. I need to do that.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I don't have that at all.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's a big grown-up thing. Jumper cables or portable jump
- 19:54Speaker 2: starter in the car.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. When was the last time you got jumped?
- 19:59Speaker 2: Well, remember Ann and I had the flat tire recently,
- 20:02Speaker 2: so we had to do the donut.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Oh, I do.
- 20:04Speaker 2: But we didn't have the pump you up thingy.
- 20:09Speaker 1: To raise the car?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't have that. So I think these are.
- 20:11Speaker 1: How did you do it?
- 20:13Speaker 2: You lift it? Yeah. She and I can lift it.
- 20:14Speaker 2: No problem. No, remember, we paid the guy 50 bucks.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. That was a whole story.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a whole story.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And we thought that was a good deal.
- 20:20Speaker 2: You thought it was a good deal.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Convenient. So you went to a show, they fixed the tire. Boom,
- 20:27Speaker 1: 50 bucks.
- 20:27Speaker 2: The guys in the parking garage. Yeah.
- 20:30Speaker 1: All right, hit us up.
- 20:32Speaker 4: 44363.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Add to the list here. What's a good example of
- 20:34Speaker 1: something you should buy... Before you need it.
- 20:37Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 20:43Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 20:45Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Hump Day. It's Light FM. Cubby and Christine in the morning.
- 20:50Speaker 1: A very special edition of Trivia Battle, Christine. It's the
- 20:53Speaker 1: all horror edition.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Nice.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That's right.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Well, Halloween's almost here.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It's coming up. So a lot of scary questions coming.
- 21:01Speaker 1: John from Brooklyn on Team Cubby today. John, what are
- 21:03Speaker 1: you doing up?
- 21:04Speaker 4: I'm just getting ready for work and taking my daughter
- 21:07Speaker 4: to school, but I would love to please say, Cubby,
- 21:09Speaker 4: I want to say happy 13th birthday to my daughter, Adriana.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 21:14Speaker 4: Today is her birthday.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Aw, happy birthday, Adriana.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Yeah, have a great birthday. Thank you for having us on,
- 21:20Speaker 1: and I hope the day is great. And good luck, John.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Let's bring home a victory for Team Cubby. Who is
- 21:25Speaker 1: John's competition?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Alexa. How many devices did I just set off? Good morning,
- 21:29Speaker 2: Alexa and Clifton. How are you? Hi, good morning. Good morning.
- 21:34Speaker 2: You must hear it all the time, right? Yes, I do. Alexa,
- 21:40Speaker 2: what's the forecast? That's like one of my favorite questions
- 21:42Speaker 2: at home.
- 21:42Speaker 1: You just triggered it again.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Oh, no, I'm sorry. Alexa, what are you up to today?
- 21:47Speaker 1: I'm on my way to work, and I love the
- 21:49Speaker 1: Jonas Brothers, so I'm ready to win.
- 21:51Speaker 2: All right, let's go. Let's do this.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Here we go. John, you'll get three questions about horror,
- 21:56Speaker 1: and so will you, Alexa, as we get ready for
- 21:59Speaker 1: spooky season. Well, we're in it right now. And the
- 22:01Speaker 1: best out of three will win, okay? Here we go, John.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Question number one for you. What is widely considered to
- 22:07Speaker 1: be the first horror movie ever made? A, The House
- 22:12Speaker 1: of the Devil. B, Night of the Living Dead. C, Dr.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Ooh. I'm going to have to say... I'm going to
- 22:23Speaker 4: go with my gut with B, Night of the Living Dead.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I don't know if Dr. Jekyll was before that.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Night of the Living Dead?
- 22:29Speaker 3: No.
- 22:31Speaker 1: We're going back to 1896 for The House of the Devil.
- 22:35Speaker 1: The House of the Devil was the answer.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Wow.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Over to Alexa.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Okay. Alexa, 1922's Nosferatu is an unofficial adaptation of which book? A, Carmilla, B, Dracula,
- 22:49Speaker 2: or C, Frankenstein?
- 22:53Speaker 4: Dracula.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yes. B, Dracula. You've got it.
- 22:56Speaker 1: One-nothing, Alexa.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 22:57Speaker 4: John.
- 22:58Speaker 1: John. Which of these movies is not based on a book? A,
- 23:04Speaker 1: Bird Box, B, Interview with the Vampire, or C, A
- 23:07Speaker 1: Quiet Place?
- 23:10Speaker 4: I think A Quiet Place, C.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Well, well, well. John has tied it up. You got that?
- 23:17Speaker 2: 1-1. Alexa, what year was the original The Texas Chainsaw
- 23:21Speaker 2: Massacre released? Was it A, 1964, B, 1974, or C, 1984? 1974.
- 23:31Speaker 4: You got it.
- 23:33Speaker 2: That's two for Alexa.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, 2-1. Here we go. Over to John. Hey, John,
- 23:39Speaker 1: what actor made his film debut in A Nightmare on
- 23:43Speaker 1: Elm Street back in 84, I believe, was the movie?
- 23:46Speaker 1: Is it A, Leonardo DiCaprio, B, Johnny Depp, or C,
- 23:50Speaker 1: Jim Carrey? B, Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp would be correct.
- 23:55Speaker 1: And we are all tied up 2-2. But if Alexa
- 23:57Speaker 1: goes three for three, it's a wrap.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Alexa, in Halloween, Michael Myers' mask is actually a mask
- 24:03Speaker 2: of which actor? A, William Shatner, B, Patrick Stewart, C,
- 24:08Speaker 2: Mark Hamill? B. Which one? Option B. Patrick Stewart?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Actually, it's William Shatner.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And William Shatner, I believe, knows about this and was
- 24:23Speaker 1: very unhappy about it when he heard about it. This
- 24:25Speaker 1: was years ago.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Oh, they did it without his consent?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Correct.
- 24:29Speaker 4: Wow.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. So, John, Alexa, we have a tiebreaker. Here's
- 24:32Speaker 1: how we do it. Kristen's going to write down a
- 24:34Speaker 1: number between 1 and 100. Whoever is closest will win.
- 24:38Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if you go over. We don't know
- 24:40Speaker 1: what she wrote down until we go to you here.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Right, okay.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So, John, give us a guess.
- 24:45Speaker 4: I'm going to say 51. 51.
- 24:49Speaker 2: 51. Okay, Alexa, what's your guess?
- 24:53Speaker 4: 19.
- 24:54Speaker 2: 19. Producer Kristen has written the number 8. Whoa. We
- 24:58Speaker 2: went low today, 8, which would make Alexa the winner.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Congratulations, Alexa.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Alexa, you did it.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And John, play again tomorrow for Adrian, okay?
- 25:07Speaker 4: I will. Thank you, guys. Have a great day.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You too. Thank you. Alexa, you're going to see the
- 25:11Speaker 2: Jonas Brothers, UBS Arena, December 19th.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Thank you guys so much.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I love the Jonas Brothers.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Woo!
- 25:18Speaker 1: Hold on one second. And it was Adriana, the daughter
- 25:21Speaker 1: for John. Adriana.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I said Adrian.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Oh.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm thinking Rocky.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yo, Adrian. There is a lot of Rocky talk lately,
- 25:28Speaker 2: so yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 1: So one day we're going to have Alexa play Siri
- 25:31Speaker 1: on Trivia Battle.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:33Speaker 1: That's going to happen eventually, isn't it? I don't know.
- 25:36Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 25:40Speaker 1: We talked about this a couple hours ago, but you know,
- 25:43Speaker 1: brand new audience, maybe you missed it. And you did
- 25:45Speaker 1: this story, and I love it. How long has Cereal
- 25:47Speaker 1: been around? 163 years?
- 25:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Something like that?
- 25:50Speaker 4: Yes.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And they finally came up with this.
- 25:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Cheerios is finally fixing one of breakfast's most annoying problems,
- 25:57Speaker 1: that impossible-to-close cereal bag. General Mills has teamed up with Ziploc,
- 26:02Speaker 1: to create a new resealable bag inside traditional Cheerio boxes.
- 26:07Speaker 1: The zipper-style seal creates a built-in pour spout, and it's
- 26:11Speaker 1: designed to keep cereal fresher, longer, without the usual folding, rolling,
- 26:16Speaker 1: and flipping.
- 26:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 26:17Speaker 1: This, I mean, again, why so long to come up
- 26:20Speaker 1: with this? Why did it take so long?
- 26:21Speaker 2: Why?
- 26:22Speaker 1: But it's brilliant. They should do every cereal like this.
- 26:24Speaker 2: I know. I hope they do. I hope this starts
- 26:26Speaker 2: a trend.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Wow. All right. Anyway, we did that. That was part
- 26:28Speaker 1: of our cool things. We do that every morning at 625.
- 26:30Speaker 1: We give you fun facts and fun information. And this
- 26:34Speaker 1: actually would qualify as a cool thing if we were
- 26:37Speaker 1: doing it at 625 tomorrow.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Definitely think so. Congratulations to Carol Thayer. Who is Carol Fair?
- 26:44Speaker 2: She is a Charlotte-based flight attendant who has just retired
- 26:48Speaker 2: after 63 years on the job.
- 26:50Speaker 1: That is a long time.
- 26:52Speaker 2: She received a warm welcome from co-workers, family, and friends
- 26:55Speaker 2: when she arrived at Charlotte Douglas International Airport from London
- 26:59Speaker 2: on Monday. So she did an international flight.
- 27:01Speaker 1: They played bingo the whole flight.
- 27:02Speaker 2: That was her final flight. She began her career in
- 27:06Speaker 2: 1963 with Piedmont Airlines.
