Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line, second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion. Has Puppas left to right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What
- 0:34Speaker 1: this is Michael Bumpus along with Nason Choby. This is
- 0:36Speaker 1: Hawk Talk recap edition the Hawks losing OT thirty seven
- 0:40Speaker 1: to thirty four to the Arizona Cardinals and a thriller.
- 0:43Speaker 1: They could have won the game two or three times.
- 0:45Speaker 1: They could have lost the game two or three times.
- 0:47Speaker 1: But we are here to break it down. Let's get
- 0:49Speaker 1: writing to it with what had happened? See what had happened?
- 0:52Speaker 1: At first were what had happened? Was un Hawk Talk?
- 0:59Speaker 1: What happened? I'll tell you what happened, Nasa Choby, guys
- 1:02Speaker 1: went down at Glendale, Arizona got into a battle and
- 1:06Speaker 1: just came up short. We saw some things that never
- 1:08Speaker 1: really happened with this offense. They turned the ball over
- 1:11Speaker 1: three times and Russell Wilson didn't have his best day
- 1:14Speaker 1: when he came to that, but he's still performed at
- 1:17Speaker 1: a high level. That first drive they come out, he's
- 1:20Speaker 1: five for five, deep ball to locket, one handed catch
- 1:24Speaker 1: or think him here we go. This offense is gonna
- 1:26Speaker 1: keep this thing rolling. But it was a very emotional
- 1:29Speaker 1: night last night. Oh my goodness, man, I'm still recovering. Man,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm still recovering. I'm sure as well as most of
- 1:34Speaker 1: twelves aren't there yesterday. I mean it was in roller coaster.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I mean we should be used to at this point,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm still not. I mean the highs in the loaths,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I mean we were so high at some points and solo.
- 1:44Speaker 1: So it was a tough game in man Arizona, that
- 1:47Speaker 1: State Farm Stadium. I'm cool. I mean typically we've won
- 1:50Speaker 1: every game down there, but there are just some bad memories.
- 1:53Speaker 1: A lot of crazy things have happened, a tie and
- 1:56Speaker 1: another overtime game all the way down to the wire.
- 1:58Speaker 1: So it was a tough game. And like I mentioned,
- 2:00Speaker 1: the Seahawks did come out on fire. We kind of
- 2:02Speaker 1: thought that they were gonna keep going like they had
- 2:04Speaker 1: been going. And offensively they still played really well. They
- 2:06Speaker 1: scored on their first i think five of their first
- 2:08Speaker 1: six possessions of the game, and defensively they just played
- 2:12Speaker 1: good at times, but just couldn't slow him down in
- 2:14Speaker 1: second half. Couldn't slow him down in the second half.
- 2:17Speaker 1: You mentioned a defense look good at time, just lost
- 2:20Speaker 1: contained a couple of times with Kyler Murray and Kylin
- 2:22Speaker 1: Murray bounce back week before he was nine for twenty four.
- 2:25Speaker 1: This guy looked Russell Wilson in the eye on Sunday
- 2:27Speaker 1: Night Football and said, look, we're gonna go total tolls.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So you have to respect the young man for that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: DK Meycam didn't have the game that we were used
- 2:36Speaker 1: to sing. Was it the defense, was it the scheme?
- 2:39Speaker 1: But when he didn't play to the level we're used
- 2:42Speaker 1: to see him, we see a guy in Tyler Lockey
- 2:44Speaker 1: twenty targets, fifteen cashes, two hundred yards, three touchdowns. The
- 2:48Speaker 1: young man got it done last night. He is something
- 2:51Speaker 1: special man, And I think, of course, in this offense,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the people don't care if their number one receiver. We
- 2:56Speaker 1: talked about a lot on the postgame show last night.
- 2:58Speaker 1: This offense has every one is live on every single play,
- 3:01Speaker 1: and there's just been a lot of talk about DK
- 3:03Speaker 1: and rightfully so, because he has earned it. And Tyler
- 3:05Speaker 1: Lockett has been kind of quiet the last two weeks,
- 3:07Speaker 1: but boy, he was not quiet last night. He one
- 3:11Speaker 1: of the best games in franchise history. Without question, Tyler
- 3:13Speaker 1: Lockett is a beast. Now. The Seahawks went up ten
- 3:17Speaker 1: points with five twenty six remaining in the game. However,
- 3:21Speaker 1: after holding the Cardinals on a key third and twelve,
- 3:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks got an off sized penalty and a penalty
- 3:25Speaker 1: for leverage on the field goal and said, which man,
- 3:27Speaker 1: that that hurts because you look at it. You know
- 3:29Speaker 1: what happened with Benson Mayo. He jumped off sides. He
- 3:33Speaker 1: tried to control himself by putting his hands on top
- 3:36Speaker 1: of the offensive lineman. So instead of being a five
- 3:38Speaker 1: yeard penalty, it is now a fifteen year a penalty.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And that kind of changed the game a bit, oh
- 3:42Speaker 1: for sure did. And that's the thing that sucks about
- 3:44Speaker 1: it is you know he wasn't trying to do that.
- 3:45Speaker 1: You know he wasn't coached to do that. He just
- 3:47Speaker 1: unfortunately jumped off sides and gotten that weird you know
- 3:50Speaker 1: in between no man's lamb kind of and put his
- 3:52Speaker 1: hand on the guy's back. But I honestly, I really
- 3:55Speaker 1: hate that penalty because for me, in that situation that
- 3:58Speaker 1: there's got to be intent there. Right are standing to
- 4:00Speaker 1: the letter of the law. But it's not like he
- 4:02Speaker 1: ran up put his hands on the guy's back and
- 4:04Speaker 1: jumped over. You can kind of see like, okay, that's
- 4:06Speaker 1: a five yard it was fourth in twelve, a fifteen
- 4:09Speaker 1: yard penalty. That situation really changed the game, and it's
- 4:11Speaker 1: just unfortunate because it's one of the biggest plays YEP,
- 4:14Speaker 1: one of the biggest plays. Now. The golf gods tried
- 4:18Speaker 1: to give Seattle a chance. They go, look, we're not
- 4:21Speaker 1: even gonna have you burn a time out on this
- 4:23Speaker 1: field goal. We're gonna have their own coach, I used
- 4:25Speaker 1: their own kicker. The kicker makes the field goal that
- 4:28Speaker 1: didn't count and then pulls the other one. At that point,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm thinking, here we go again. Russ is gonna drive
- 4:34Speaker 1: this football team down the field and they're gonna get
- 4:36Speaker 1: it done. But eventually, if you put yourself in these
- 4:38Speaker 1: situations over and over and over again. You're not gonna
- 4:41Speaker 1: be perfect. Nothing in this world it's perfect there. I've
- 4:43Speaker 1: never seen a perfect football team. Unfortunate, but they still
- 4:46Speaker 1: had a chance to win the ball game, no question
- 4:48Speaker 1: about it. I think everyone in the nation the second
- 4:51Speaker 1: that field goal when why laugh? They're thinking, Man, these Seahawks, Man,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I just don't get it. They're gonna come back and
- 4:55Speaker 1: win the game. I think all of us did. When
- 4:56Speaker 1: you have number three yet quarterback, I mean, there's no
- 5:00Speaker 1: out in your mind. And that's why it was really
- 5:02Speaker 1: it was weird to see, especially having two opportunities and
- 5:04Speaker 1: overtime to go win the game. It's definitely not something
- 5:06Speaker 1: we're used to seeing. Obviously, a couple of costly turnovers,
- 5:10Speaker 1: but like you said, no one is perfect. You can't
- 5:12Speaker 1: be in all of these one score games and all
- 5:15Speaker 1: these tight situations with the game on the line. Eventually,
- 5:18Speaker 1: sooner or later, you're not gonna get them all. Obviously
- 5:21Speaker 1: knowing you know, expected to go sixteen and oh it's
- 5:23Speaker 1: only happened one time, and that team didn't even win
- 5:25Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, so it wasn't gonna happen. The Seahawks
- 5:27Speaker 1: took to bounce back next week. Yep, they'll bounce back.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And you gotta give respect with respect this dude, the
- 5:32Speaker 1: Cardinals player played a good football game. DeAndre Hawkas did
- 5:35Speaker 1: as usual ten catches, one hundred three yards and a touchdown.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Colin Murray bounced back. Russell did everything he could. Man,
- 5:41Speaker 1: he was the leading rusher, was seventy five eighty yards rushing,
- 5:44Speaker 1: led the team in passing obviously, but it just wasn't
- 5:47Speaker 1: there night. And that's okay. There are still five and one,
- 5:49Speaker 1: one of the best football teams in the league. Now,
- 5:52Speaker 1: let's talk about who got it done. Playmakers, playmakers? Well, bump,
- 6:07Speaker 1: he mentioned it. Man. If there was any playmakers on
- 6:09Speaker 1: Sunday Night football, it was the Tyler Lockett not and
- 6:13Speaker 1: let's break this down. Fifteen receptions, two hundred yards in
- 6:16Speaker 1: three touchdowns. Got it going on the first play of
- 6:19Speaker 1: the game with a one handed play on Patrick Peterson's
- 6:22Speaker 1: one of the best cornerbacks in the National Football League,
- 6:24Speaker 1: as he was kind of getting held and roughed up,
- 6:26Speaker 1: and the dude just came out and straight up. This
- 6:28Speaker 1: is one of the best games of receivers played in
- 6:30Speaker 1: franchise history. Okay, his fifteen receptions tied Steve Largent for
- 6:35Speaker 1: number one all time and receptions in a single game,
- 6:37Speaker 1: and his two hundred yard receiving clocks in at number
- 6:39Speaker 1: two all time by Steve Largent, who had a two
- 6:42Speaker 1: hundred and sixty one yeard performance against Detroit nineteen eighty
- 6:44Speaker 1: seven and bump. Why did Paul Moyers say last night
- 6:47Speaker 1: that he doesn't think that game should count. Paul Moyers
- 6:51Speaker 1: says that game shouldn't count because Steve Largent crossed the lines.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It was a lockout year, and he was playing against
- 6:57Speaker 1: guys who probably shouldn't be out there, who wouldn't get
- 7:00Speaker 1: out of a back pedal, couldn't flip those sis. But
- 7:03Speaker 1: in the day, it was an official NFL game, so
- 7:06Speaker 1: it counts. But if you are a historian like our
- 7:09Speaker 1: guy Paul Moorey, who was on that team, and you
- 7:12Speaker 1: understand the context of that, you can see why Paul
- 7:14Speaker 1: thinks that this was the greatest performance by a Seahawk
- 7:17Speaker 1: receiver because he did it on Sunday night against a
- 7:20Speaker 1: good defense, not during a lockout season. It was real,
- 7:24Speaker 1: bulls were alive. But it is what it is in
- 7:27Speaker 1: the record books is the number two performance by receiver,
- 7:30Speaker 1: but it was nice to see Tyler Lockey get back
- 7:32Speaker 1: on track before that. The last two weeks he had
- 7:34Speaker 1: nine targets total. DK was kind of making this thing go.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But that's the great thing about this receivering corps. You
- 7:40Speaker 1: got two guys all right, it's not your night, now
- 7:42Speaker 1: it's my night. And DK still almost won the game
- 7:46Speaker 1: for this team. He still contributed on one of the
- 7:49Speaker 1: greatest plays on defense for a receiver, and then almost
- 7:52Speaker 1: he took a scream to the house but got called
- 7:55Speaker 1: back for holding by David Moore. But it is what
- 7:59Speaker 1: it is. Next playmaker Russell Wilson thirty three or fifty
- 8:02Speaker 1: three hundred eighty eight yards, three touchdowns, three interceptions. That's
- 8:07Speaker 1: where it hurts. We're not gonna see this type of
- 8:08Speaker 1: performance by Russell often. I can't even remember. The last
- 8:11Speaker 1: time I think you mentioned was Green Bay two. I
- 8:14Speaker 1: believe the twenty seventeen season down in Green Bay. So
- 8:19Speaker 1: a lot of games were played in between these two performances,
- 8:22Speaker 1: and you, again, you can't just talk about the Seahawks
- 8:26Speaker 1: not getting it done. You gotta tip your hat off
- 8:28Speaker 1: to these colonels. Many they dialed up some blizz packages
- 8:31Speaker 1: and drop into their zones and show some pressures and
- 8:33Speaker 1: and forced Russell Wilson into making bad decisions. But he
- 8:36Speaker 1: also had six carries for eighty four yards and has
- 8:39Speaker 1: some nice throws. I mean that first play the game
- 8:41Speaker 1: to lock that one handed catch the other deep play
- 8:44Speaker 1: deep touchdown, a locket where he's double team. Locke is
- 8:47Speaker 1: double team, and Russell still gives him an opportunity, puts
- 8:49Speaker 1: it where only he can get the football. With all
- 8:52Speaker 1: the mistakes that he made, he's still made some Hall
- 8:55Speaker 1: of Fame quarterback type throws. Well, the crazy thing you
- 8:57Speaker 1: mentioned it, Bump. You do have to give credit where
- 8:59Speaker 1: credits due, but imagine this, we are giving credit to
- 9:02Speaker 1: the Arizona Cardinals who gave up five hundred and seventy
- 9:06Speaker 1: two yards of total offense. So I mean, it's not
- 9:08Speaker 1: like the Seahawks were held in check. They were going
- 9:10Speaker 1: up and down the field, but they made plays when
- 9:13Speaker 1: it mattered, when it came down the stretch and overtime.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Russell hadn't been sacked all game, got sacked twice on
- 9:18Speaker 1: the first drive, and then, like you mentioned, they were
- 9:20Speaker 1: doing so much different stuff defensively. We talked about on
- 9:22Speaker 1: the preview podcast, how they move guys around a ton
- 9:24Speaker 1: and their dbs are good. So once you start getting
- 9:27Speaker 1: pressure a lot and they started dropping into some different
- 9:29Speaker 1: zone schemes, they made plays when they had to. So
- 9:31Speaker 1: obviously tip your captive Vance Joseph defensive coordinator for the
- 9:34Speaker 1: Cardinals on a job ball done late in that game.
- 9:36Speaker 1: But like you mentioned it, man, Russell Wilson's not going
- 9:38Speaker 1: to be perfect. He's still through for three hundred and
- 9:40Speaker 1: eighty yards, still through for three touchdowns. We're not going
- 9:43Speaker 1: to see a game like this very often. And I
- 9:45Speaker 1: promise you when they come out next week or next
- 9:47Speaker 1: time they play the Cardinals, it's definitely going to be
- 9:50Speaker 1: a different story for Russell. They'll be ready to go next.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Playmaker Carlos High fifteen care sixty eight yards, one touchdown,
- 9:57Speaker 1: first game in a couple of weeks after shoulder injured.
- 9:59Speaker 1: This was encouraging to me because this is why you
- 10:02Speaker 1: have Carlos hide just in case something happens to Chris Carson.
- 10:05Speaker 1: He went down with a foot injury, he comes out,
- 10:07Speaker 1: he scores a touchdown I believe on a sweep shows
- 10:09Speaker 1: some explosiveness, picked up a crucial first down late in
- 10:13Speaker 1: the game if Carson isn't ready to go, I think
- 10:16Speaker 1: the Hawks will be okay with Carlos High. Oh absolutely.
- 10:19Speaker 1: And I think you know, when we drafted DJ Dallas,
- 10:23Speaker 1: another running back, you know people are like, well, we
- 10:24Speaker 1: just signed Carlos Hide. If anyone learned anything last year,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you can never have enough running backs. You just don't
- 10:31Speaker 1: know what's gonna happen. In the way the style of
- 10:33Speaker 1: Chris Carson and those guys that are so physical, things
- 10:35Speaker 1: can happen. So I'm very comfortable seeing Carlos Hide out there.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I like his physicality. Like I said, I like the
- 10:40Speaker 1: burst going out to the edge. And while we're talking
- 10:42Speaker 1: about Carlos Side, let me quick with a branch off.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Duwayne Brown was killing the game last night. I want
- 10:48Speaker 1: to see a lot more tosses because when you get
- 10:50Speaker 1: number seventy six, come around that corner. Good night, DBS,
- 10:54Speaker 1: take cover because it's gonna be a long day. So
- 10:55Speaker 1: Dwayne Brown was definitely balling last night. And I love
- 10:58Speaker 1: to see Carloside getting back after after missing a couple
- 11:00Speaker 1: games with shoulder injury. Who else did the thing? Nas
- 11:04Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner. You know it's hard, I know it's got
- 11:07Speaker 1: to be really hard for him. He still had eleven tackles,
- 11:09Speaker 1: still played solid, got a really unfortunate, unnecessary roughness penalty,
- 11:14Speaker 1: which is just I mean, the dude is out there
- 11:17Speaker 1: playing football. It was a bang, bang play and that
- 11:19Speaker 1: was a huge play to see us get off the field.
- 11:21Speaker 1: They scored that drive, so that was really unfortunate. But
- 11:24Speaker 1: Bobby's been here for some since twenty twelve man. He
- 11:27Speaker 1: has played on some of the best defenses in the
- 11:29Speaker 1: history of the NFL, and he knows his room to
- 11:32Speaker 1: grow and this isn't the standard that they're used to
- 11:35Speaker 1: playing at and him personally, so I think the good
- 11:38Speaker 1: thing is I know we have leaders in that locker room,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and it's just we just need the pieces to come together. Obviously,
- 11:44Speaker 1: we're still missing Jamal Adams. She hasn't come back so
- 11:48Speaker 1: and the defensive line guys so flashed at times, but
- 11:50Speaker 1: it's not been consistent. We know Kjra writes played really
- 11:53Speaker 1: well this year, Bobby has two. We lost Shaquille Griffin
- 11:57Speaker 1: into a concussion which was huge, right and Quinn. So
- 12:00Speaker 1: all the pieces at some point are gonna mesh together.
- 12:03Speaker 1: We're just not there yet. Defensively, not there yet. You
- 12:05Speaker 1: still have Darryl Taylor, who we haven't seen yet. Jordan
- 12:08Speaker 1: Brooks really got some significant playing time for the first
- 12:11Speaker 1: time last night, had an awesome tackle on third down.
- 12:14Speaker 1: So I am still optimistic. I know people are gonna gripe,
- 12:17Speaker 1: they're gonna complain about this and that, but these guys
- 12:19Speaker 1: are five to one, they got them forty nine ers
- 12:22Speaker 1: coming up, and I think they'll be fine. All right.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Wide receiver round up. Gotta start with Tyler Lockett, Like
- 12:28Speaker 1: we said, fifty catches, two hundred yards, three touchdowns of
- 12:31Speaker 1: the twenty targets, one of the best games in franchise history.
- 12:34Speaker 1: David Moore three catches fifty four yards an unfortunate holding penalty.
- 12:38Speaker 1: But Demo might not get the targets that a lot
- 12:41Speaker 1: of guys get, but it seems like every cash that
- 12:43Speaker 1: he makes is a big catch. Uncle Will got in
- 12:46Speaker 1: the mix two catches thirty eight yards, DK two for
- 12:49Speaker 1: twenty three, Jacob Hollister three for twenty two, Greg two
- 12:54Speaker 1: for eighteen, DJ two for eighteen, Carlos three for a
- 12:57Speaker 1: Chris Carson one for seven. What I like about this,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and I feel like I said this every week, is
- 13:02Speaker 1: that the ball's being spread around. Granted, Locket had twenties targets,
- 13:06Speaker 1: so we know who he was locked in on them,
- 13:09Speaker 1: but other guys are touching the rock. Yeah, you had
- 13:11Speaker 1: like ten guys get targeted on passes during the game.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, it was a lot of Tyler Lockett,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but it's still good to see the love spread around
- 13:19Speaker 1: and guys just making plays. It's good to see Will
- 13:21Speaker 1: Dissley out there and made a couple of nice plays.
- 13:24Speaker 1: DK metcap we mentioned him. He only had two targets
- 13:26Speaker 1: for twenty three yards and unfortunately that touchdown that came back.
- 13:29Speaker 1: But like we mentioned, once the coaches film comes out,
- 13:31Speaker 1: it's gonna be really interesting to see what they're doing defensively.
- 13:34Speaker 1: And just from watching the game from the TV copy,
- 13:38Speaker 1: I feel like they're like, hey, we're not gonna get
- 13:40Speaker 1: b d by him. We're gonna have someone underneath, We're
- 13:42Speaker 1: gonna have someone over the top, which freed up Tyler
- 13:44Speaker 1: to do his thing inside. So defenses have to pick
- 13:47Speaker 1: their poison. Okay, if you want to try to shut
- 13:49Speaker 1: down Tyler, DK is gonna be one on one Okay,
- 13:51Speaker 1: do you want that matchup or vice versus? So it's
- 13:53Speaker 1: definitely something where every time you're gonna have to choose
- 13:56Speaker 1: who you can try to lock up, and everyone can
- 13:58Speaker 1: break one any given week, Pick Tyler, pick DK slipping
- 14:02Speaker 1: a little demo, and they're gonna be all right. They
- 14:04Speaker 1: will be good to go. All right, Coaches corner. This week,
- 14:07Speaker 1: we're gonna break down Russell Wilson's intercepted by Buddha Baker.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It was a flat route. Russell tosses it out there
- 14:13Speaker 1: like a little loft, and we spoke to Pete and
- 14:15Speaker 1: we're asking, like, why would he throw that football like that?
- 14:17Speaker 1: You know why because during the week during practice it
- 14:20Speaker 1: was open like that and he was able to do that.
- 14:23Speaker 1: So he floats it out there. Buddha Baker makes a
- 14:25Speaker 1: break on the ball, boots a baller thirty two would
- 14:28Speaker 1: it do? Rats the ball out the air, sprinting down
- 14:31Speaker 1: the sideline, and then we see this thoroughbread galloping behind him,
- 14:35Speaker 1: eating up grass, hawking him down. Saved the touchdown. Now
- 14:39Speaker 1: DK saved that touchdown. Then the defense gets back on
- 14:42Speaker 1: the field stops him the hospital down on the ninety
- 14:45Speaker 1: seven playyard drive. That is nothing but hard soul dedication.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'm doing this from my squad I love that DK
- 14:54Speaker 1: put that out there for the world to see. No
- 14:56Speaker 1: And coaches across the country I saw going nuts on Twitter.
- 15:00Speaker 1: That's something that you will put in your videos and
- 15:03Speaker 1: your install when you have meetings to start your next season,
- 15:06Speaker 1: or even across the league. Just what extreme effort is
- 15:08Speaker 1: on a football field. And here's what it sounded like.
- 15:11Speaker 1: First and goal, Russell takes a shotgun snap Carson, Oh no,
- 15:14Speaker 1: it's picked off. Going the other way. It's Buddha Baker
- 15:17Speaker 1: down the nearest sidelines. Nobody's gonna catch him unless Metcalf can.
- 15:21Speaker 1: He is sprinting, he is running. He dies and he
- 15:24Speaker 1: catches him. DK Metcalf catches Buddha Baker on a little
- 15:28Speaker 1: dump pass into the right flat Russell never saw him,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and he steals the ball away. The thing about that
- 15:35Speaker 1: is okay, So Buddha jumps in front of it, and
- 15:37Speaker 1: Buddha's fast. Buddha is not as slow. Buddha's like a
- 15:40Speaker 1: four or four guy right, and DK was. He was
- 15:43Speaker 1: running a little drag route and at that point and
- 15:45Speaker 1: it was almost at a dead stop, Buddha picks it
- 15:48Speaker 1: off and this man turns on the jets. He must
- 15:50Speaker 1: have been fifteen yards behind the dude and you just
- 15:52Speaker 1: a blow pass Russell. I mean, he was just hawking.
- 15:55Speaker 1: I have never seen some stuff like that. And according
- 15:58Speaker 1: to next Gen Stats, DK reach to max speed of
- 16:01Speaker 1: twenty two point six four miles per hour while running
- 16:03Speaker 1: down Buddha Baker. Okay, the only higher max speed by
- 16:07Speaker 1: a player to make a tackle this season was by
- 16:09Speaker 1: his defensive teammate Shaquille Griffin with twenty two point seven
- 16:13Speaker 1: five miles per hour. So don't slee a bunch of
- 16:15Speaker 1: a quel speed either. But what you saw from DK,
- 16:17Speaker 1: that was Pete said it. Everyone said that was one
- 16:19Speaker 1: of the best players they'd ever seen, just to display
- 16:21Speaker 1: of heart. And I think you mentioned this on the
- 16:23Speaker 1: Pete Carroll Show that up you had one of your
- 16:26Speaker 1: players texts you saying that might have happened because of
- 16:29Speaker 1: what happened against Dallas and just knowing never to give
- 16:32Speaker 1: up on a play. And it's just what extreme desire,
- 16:35Speaker 1: mental toughness, all that wrapped into one. So it was
- 16:37Speaker 1: a great player by d K to put a little
- 16:40Speaker 1: more on him. Buddha Baker tweeted after the game, he goes,
- 16:44Speaker 1: DK straight hawked me respect. Huda knows He's fast. You
- 16:49Speaker 1: can even see like around the twenty yard line. He
- 16:51Speaker 1: looks over his shoulder like snaps this dude, it's about
- 16:54Speaker 1: how are you anywhere? I mean he must have been.
- 16:57Speaker 1: That was wild man, that was wild. You ever been
- 16:59Speaker 1: you ever been chased by dog? Yes? Yes, oh man,
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm guarantee that's what I felt like. This dog is
- 17:04Speaker 1: about to bite me of my button right now. Oh
- 17:07Speaker 1: for sure. That just fear. Oh my goodness, bum. Unfortunately,
- 17:11Speaker 1: this is this is the first first time, that the
- 17:14Speaker 1: first time. Normally we're getting ready to getting our favorite formation,
- 17:18Speaker 1: but unfortunately the clock just ran out on me. Taken
- 17:24Speaker 1: by Hunley. They're just gonna let the clock wind down.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But it's not even gonna bother taking that last time out,
- 17:30Speaker 1: all right, for the first time all year. Like we said,
- 17:33Speaker 1: we're not in the victory formation. It just was not
- 17:35Speaker 1: the Seahawks day on Sunday night. Football wasn't their day.
- 17:39Speaker 1: We knew this day was coming. Though. It's nice to
- 17:42Speaker 1: think that your team's gonna go sixteen and no you're
- 17:45Speaker 1: feeling good. They probably should have won this game, could
- 17:47Speaker 1: have won this game. But this is the NFL, this
- 17:50Speaker 1: is football. This is why things are gonna happen. It's
- 17:52Speaker 1: not gonna bounce your way. The football gods can only
- 17:54Speaker 1: make your the field goal kicker miss one field goal.
- 17:56Speaker 1: It's not gonna miss two. I mean, you overcome three turnovers.
- 18:01Speaker 1: There's a lot of things that were working against the Hawks.
- 18:03Speaker 1: End of the day, they could not get it. Domb
- 18:05Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals. That's a good football team. Your quarterback, the receiver,
- 18:09Speaker 1: held the running game in check the first half. They
- 18:11Speaker 1: did a lot of good things. But the Arizona Cardinals
- 18:15Speaker 1: just made a few more plays than they did. Yeah. No,
- 18:17Speaker 1: And we talked about this early on couple our first
- 18:19Speaker 1: couple of podcasts who scared us the most in the
- 18:20Speaker 1: NFC West, and we both were like, Arizona, man, they're
- 18:23Speaker 1: a young one group of up and comers, a young
- 18:26Speaker 1: head coach, a gifted, talented quarterback. And like you said, yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 1: they just made more place than we did. I mean
- 18:31Speaker 1: we did, we did some really nice things. We just
- 18:33Speaker 1: couldn't put them all together. And listen, you're too many mistakes.
- 18:36Speaker 1: You can't. You're not gonna win football games when you
- 18:38Speaker 1: turn the ball over three times and when you need
- 18:40Speaker 1: to get a stop, which the Seahawks have done all
- 18:42Speaker 1: season long. When they absolutely need to get a stop defensively,
- 18:45Speaker 1: they did, Unfortunately couldn't get it done on Sunday. Ken
- 18:49Speaker 1: feel sorry for ourselves either. Now another tell division matchup
- 18:52Speaker 1: coming up with the forty nine ers. They cannot go
- 18:54Speaker 1: oh into in the division. It's crazy. You said it
- 18:57Speaker 1: last night that you're five and one, but this is
- 19:00Speaker 1: a must win game. Oh yeah, you're set. You gotta
- 19:03Speaker 1: set yourself up for success. If they don't get this done,
- 19:05Speaker 1: it's going to be harder down the road. But I
- 19:08Speaker 1: feel like this team is going to bounce back. But
- 19:10Speaker 1: can't sleep on the forty nine ers. They're playing good football. Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 1: you can't sleep on the forty nine ers. They are
- 19:15Speaker 1: playing really good football. I think with them, they got
- 19:17Speaker 1: injured so early on in the season that people kind
- 19:20Speaker 1: of wrote them off and I was kind of guilty
- 19:21Speaker 1: of that. But they started getting some guys back and
- 19:23Speaker 1: they're playing good football. So you can't you can't. You
- 19:26Speaker 1: can't feel sorry for yourself. They're gonna tell the truth today,
- 19:28Speaker 1: but all the players know they're gonna watch that film.
- 19:30Speaker 1: They're gonna correct the stuff and get back after it.
- 19:33Speaker 1: But like you mentioned, if you go owing two in
- 19:35Speaker 1: the division, you only have four more division games for
- 19:36Speaker 1: the rest of the year, and I think to win
- 19:38Speaker 1: the NFC West you have to at the minimum before
- 19:41Speaker 1: and two in the division. So this is a huge
- 19:42Speaker 1: game coming up and I should do a read here.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Join us every Thursday from noon to two on the Huddle,
- 19:54Speaker 1: Tom Jake and Stacy on the Seahawks Color and on
- 19:56Speaker 1: Dave Winman. It's your chance to hear directly from the
- 19:58Speaker 1: Seahawks players as they prepare for Sunday to preview the
- 20:01Speaker 1: game with the host of the Seahawks, Steve Rabel against
- 20:04Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers next Sunday. Bump, let's go back.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Let's get back to winning man. Let's get back to
- 20:08Speaker 1: winning victory formations. Okay, all right, we need that victory
- 20:11Speaker 1: formation and it's gonna happen. I believe that they will
- 20:14Speaker 1: get it done. Well, that's a HAWG Talk recap first
- 20:18Speaker 1: l of the season. I am Michael Bomb as he
- 20:20Speaker 1: is nasked to Choby. The Hawks go down to Arizona.
- 20:22Speaker 1: They lose thirty seven to thirty four, but something tells
- 20:24Speaker 1: me that they're eager to get back to the drawing board.
- 20:28Speaker 1: We'll see how they do, thanks for listening. Talk to
- 20:30Speaker 1: you next time.
