- 0:00ladies and gentlemen sorry about that but Matt uh said there was going to not
- 0:03be an issue so now he's not on the podcast this week yeah I'm about to fall
- 0:07off the internet yeah yeah he he did the horrible thing of saying everything's
- 0:12fine you know everything's fine or it's going to be a quiet night nothing's
- 0:16going to happen nothing's going to go wrong so it's all going to go terribly
- 0:19wrong this episode why does that not happen when you go God I hope no one sucks my
- 0:28dick welcome to multiple
- 0:31nerdgasm with your hosts Matt Luke and
- 0:35Dan multiple nerdgasm your guide to All
- 0:41Things
- 0:48nerdy mhm it's not fair is it it's
- 0:54not hope I hope I don't every time every time I say I don't want to S hope I
- 0:58don't win the lottery would be a nightmare I'd have to enter the lottery to win the
- 1:04lottery yeah I'm glad my classic family station wagon and not a sports car or
- 1:10something like that hope no one crashes into my truck
- 1:15with a Ferrari and then to apologize gifts me the ferrarii yeah which is miraculously
- 1:21uninjured Bo and I were talking this week about how to kind of increase our
- 1:25finances and I was like okay what if what if we followed around a real estate mode
- 1:30um until one of his kids was in in in a life-threatening danger and then I swoop
- 1:35and save him and then as oh and then as a payment you know to say thank you he
- 1:41gives us a house with a very reasonable umage rate and she's like well this
- 1:47fantasy is not even giving it to you for free and I'm like that's not get greedy
- 1:52I don't need it for free I just need it to be payable out of my my
- 1:57income mhm I I in a lot of every now and again because I don't I don't want to win
- 2:04Millions I just want to win to have no debt imagine just not having to pay off
- 2:09it a loan or mortgage at all and just the what money you make would have to be
- 2:13Millions for me at this point but yes no I'm talking about like not the 20
- 2:19million 50 million type of thing just that just enough just to two million
- 2:23make quite a difference in my life I'll I'll say that yeah yeah like you still
- 2:28you still got to go to work you still got to do everything but you're not
- 2:31thinking about mortgages or for the lottery we just need to do this every
- 2:36week go to patreon.com multiple nasm
- 2:39sign up give us money so that
- 2:43luk my boss has started doing a YouTube uh channel uh where he um does game
- 2:50reviews and tips and stuff but on very specific games and not the kind of games
- 2:53we talk about but he started referring to it as passive income cuz and I'm like
- 2:58you still have to record a show that's you know it's still work still work
- 3:02you're just enjoying it at the moment you wait till you're not enjoying it
- 3:04anymore and see if you still call it passive income yeah actually happens
- 3:09with a lot of YouTubers that they will start off for fun and then you watch
- 3:12them and then it becomes a job and then they've got a higher editors and stuff
- 3:17cuz I I've often thought oh it would be fun it is a lot of work like this show
- 3:20is is quite a lot of work and uh you know I enjoy it so it's so that I don't
- 3:25care but if if we got like you know cuz we' we've said that we don't want to do
- 3:29certain things cuz honestly if if it's work we're not interested right this is
- 3:33fun it's fine we're happy to do it but and I've seen
- 3:37YouTubers like popular YouTubers who do music stuff in like say who I would
- 3:43think oh their life must be great who just [ __ ] burn out and they may have
- 3:46to make a video where they're like I can't do this anymore guys I can't do it
- 3:50and I'm like man that's [ __ ] up cuz the YouTube they're not making so yes
- 3:56some the top top ones are are making millions but most of most of them are
- 4:01they're they're making enough to live on but you can't
- 4:05stop the ones that make money work hard this is one of the few Industries where
- 4:09actually the harder you work the more you get paid sure but if you take a
- 4:13holiday for two weeks to catch up you don't get you don't get income no and
- 4:17not only that you lose subscribers they just drop they drop off yeah it's it's
- 4:22it's you've got always be up and you're not making millions of dollars like for most
- 4:28of them they're making a nice income but all you're doing is sit in front of your
- 4:31computer working and engaging people have you noticed that the the crowd has
- 4:36kind of turned on on on some of the Hollywood celebrities who have started
- 4:43shows back up specifically I'm talking Barrymore started CH show everyone's
- 4:49like you're a traitor and she's like a it's not scripted it's not acted so
- 4:54nobody is crossing a picket line but also my staff have to work you know my
- 4:59need money on the table yeah yeah it's hard I guess I mean clearly look it and
- 5:05it's not a scripted show and that's other thing you have to that's what
- 5:08we're going to be getting for the next few years is well the actors are on
- 5:12strike as well and they're arguing that she's an actor but I guess her argument
- 5:16is that she's not an actor in she's not acting she's she's not an actress
- 5:19anymore she's yep yeah you could still be an actor strike acting in this
- 5:26particular circumstance I suppose but her apology was was t and and legit like
- 5:31she she obviously feels really bad about it she doesn't really know what to do I
- 5:34mean all her friends are still out there holding up signs but you know the people
- 5:38that work for her are starving yeah but she did she did has pulled out things
- 5:43like she pulled out MTV Awards or something like CU to go no I'm not part
- 5:47of that not doing that because of this and she's still taking a stand where she
- 5:50can but yeah people still need to get paid oh man my driver did I tell you
- 5:55this already on air my driver in um Bary recently was just telling us how
- 6:00oh I was really bad here during Co we're like yeah I bet he's like yeah you know
- 6:03I had to fish for my own fish because I couldn't get meat I didn't eat eat meat
- 6:07for two years and I was like I guess I can't complain yeah yeah I I had to work from
- 6:13home I had to get my groceries Del get stuff
- 6:18delivered my life changed only for the
- 6:21better during Co yeah I got a better job
- 6:25better yeah got a I got a better working conditions
- 6:30yeah yeah see yeah I got a better job I I brought a house going to work was
- 6:35great because there's no one on the roads and office was quiet and yeah I
- 6:40guess I guess this is the white privilege they tell us about yeah yeah
- 6:45yeah for sure and that's not a flex ladies and gentlemen that's just us
- 6:49slowly coming to realize that we should shut our mouths about some things
- 6:54yeah yeah but not about others definely about other things no well look I've got
- 7:00I got an important question I've done my homework have you done your homework
- 7:04Luke I've got two more weeks have you B's not going to be here in two weeks
- 7:11I'll do it for next week I will sit down and I'll watch June watch a guy sit in
- 7:16the room yeah you might be surpris watch this how much of a your kind of movie
- 7:21this is oh sorry I do forget it's not just a guy sitting in the room there
- 7:25also a guy walking into that room yeah but you know who that guy
- 7:30movie a radical dude who you're going to enjoy who really plays the he acts the
- 7:36[ __ ] out of that character all right I saw a trailer for the second part before
- 7:41another film that I saw this week and I hadn't there's a trailer I hadn't seen
- 7:44yet oh man looks so good it reminds you I'll tell you what I will tell you what
- 7:49I did watch this week you want I watched a television series called search party
- 7:55okay okay I don't know this um weird as hell
- 7:59um It's Five Seasons you watched five seasons of a show but you couldn't watch
- 8:05Dune that that um oh you had me at Jeff
- 8:09Goldblum oh he's in the last season okay interesting um it's got the girl who
- 8:16played maybe oh one of your friends dies and they decide to be
- 8:20detectives yes I watched the first episode way back in the day and didn't
- 8:24go ahead yeah um if you watch it it just keeps escalating escalating just gets
- 8:30weirder and weirder search yeah I couldn't stop watching
- 8:36it I I I I stopped because I thought it was young people being cool and that
- 8:43doesn't really interest me anymore no this you don't get to do that yes
- 8:48correct these are once you watch a bit more you find out it's four terrible
- 8:52people o okay very self involed for terrible people yeah it's for terrible
- 8:57People Like Us I'm surprised like a yeah I
- 9:01know right the demo yeah no it's yeah like one of the guys talks about how he
- 9:08had cancer as a child and all this stuff what a jerk goes on about it all the
- 9:14time but no watch it and it took me a little while to get into it but then
- 9:19once you do then especially that one you get that last season when everything
- 9:23sort of comes together Al so it wraps up probably finishes well no it finishes
- 9:29and then still continues of course it does why would
- 9:32ites up that no no but it does it has to
- 9:37continue as well you a Tumbl of
- 9:40wine no it's a a pint of uh of stat oh okay okay and then just in case I ran
- 9:46out I also have a glass of Dallas here as well of course Matt can't do the show if he's so
- 9:52he just can't do it it's true I thought that was a fancy VB the first time you
- 9:55lifted it up but it's just the green screen it's a Starfield VB well you VB
- 10:00had a literal clear case no it just looked gold the first time he picked it
- 10:04up and I was like oh that's cool no the gold Forex and they only
- 10:08have those in Queen's land yeah the land of Queens will they change the name of
- 10:13Queen land to King's land now they're going to have to
- 10:20um but wasn't it already before you had a queen well why was it called that mate
- 10:25that that's nonsensical if it was the band Queens Reich have to change the
- 10:29name m the queen have to change their name yeah drag queens have to change all
- 10:35of their
- 10:38names but there's already drag que
- 10:43Kings don't bring logic into this okay I'm sorry right Matt you did your
- 10:49homework I did double homework I only promised to watch one of those movies
- 10:52and I watched both of them I love this is the only year in history where there
- 10:57are two movies you just had to watch you had to watch them back to back it's a
- 11:01strange phenomenon and also I mean I'll say this right off the bat I mean
- 11:05they're not in any way similar so it's a really weird comparison that's why go as
- 11:10far as saying also now I think Oppenheimer may have done well
- 11:14regardless but the highest grossing biopic at this in the world this week
- 11:20really piggybacked on on on on the Barbie train in in ways that I'm sure oh
- 11:25mate I think the they weren't planning to go head to-head with Barbie they were
- 11:30just going to come out and just be a movie and have why would they even
- 11:34consider that exactly but somehow the media made this a a double feature you
- 11:40had to go and see so even people who would only see Barbie and it was the the
- 11:45highest costing marketing campaign in the world ever for barie um more than
- 11:50the cost of the film which I know we always say but it's never true this is
- 11:53true at this point um I think they've really benefed that yeah right yeah I
- 11:58think over 900 million Oppenheimer this week like it's the highest grow biopic
- 12:04of all time I mean and for a straight up drama that's that's un that's almost a
- 12:08billion dollars this is not a Marvel fil yeah yeah no no and okay so which one do
- 12:14you want to hear about first did you think yeah no I want to hear about
- 12:18which Oppenheimer guys I [ __ ] loved it and I'm so baffled that you guys
- 12:25didn't but that's fine but I [ __ ] loved every second of it okay and when
- 12:30it ended I was like oh that's it all right no worries that's how I felt at the end
- 12:37too yeah but like I don't know I don't know I don't know what it is we liked it
- 12:42we it yeah no no no I know but clearly not as much as I did because cuz I came
- 12:47out of it and I was thinking [ __ ] the guy like maybe because my expectations
- 12:51were lower I [ __ ] loved it what did you think of the
- 12:56explosion loved it I have nothing this have one negative thing to say about it
- 13:01it's not even really the negative thing it's just like it was an odd choice is
- 13:03that there was only like one particularly maybe he did it a
- 13:08couple other times but there was the scene when he's in the um the hearing
- 13:11and the camera pans pass the prosecutor and on the other side he's naked and
- 13:14then and then um Florence Pew's in there as well and they're getting it on in the
- 13:19thing it's obviously not real it's like a fantasy thing but there was no other
- 13:23point in the movie where that kind of thing happened so it was a bit odd yeah
- 13:26yeah agree that was the only bit that I was kind of like H weird choice but okay
- 13:31I think they just want to get her breast on the screen one more time I don't
- 13:34think you saw him in that scene I was looking for me the they talked up the
- 13:40explosion so much like it's going to be the biggest practical and sort of it was
- 13:45maybe you could get some special effects for it oh I see I mean it looked pretty
- 13:50[ __ ] good to me oh it looked great to me I just don't
- 13:54care that it wasn't special effects you could have G half for it was all special
- 13:58effects and I would have G just as good I wasn't really thinking
- 14:00about it when I was watching it to me yeah just they talked it up so much and
- 14:06then it was just oh is is that it for me at least really I guess I wasn't really
- 14:12thinking about it like that yeah I was distracted by the uh by
- 14:17the Roman guy from um Norman yeah yeah definitely by him for
- 14:23sure [ __ ] everybody's in this movie anytime a new character was introduced I
- 14:27was like oh [ __ ] it's that guy tiny bit Parts Ramy mik Casey Affleck yeah Ramy
- 14:32Malik Casey Affleck in one like just for a little bit like everybody solo young
- 14:38Han Sol that's right yeah yeah oh I like that that he the only bits that little
- 14:43guy you may have heard of John F Kennedy those those sequences I felt
- 14:50they were weak than others the Robert Danny J stuff was weaker with with those
- 14:55two but I did love that bit at the end where he was like maybe they were just
- 14:58talking about something something more important mate yes that was excellent
- 15:03that was a really good line because it was because it was really you know it
- 15:07was like he's like I think we have maybe maybe we have destroyed the world and
- 15:11he's like oh they're talking about me yeah yeah that's right no mate I liked
- 15:15very much I like that very much I think yeah it it was a
- 15:20strange choice for me to lean so heavily into the
- 15:25communism elements of his life when
- 15:30I'm sure he barely even remembers that and they're like oh he's going to lose
- 15:34his clearance that's the stakes that he's going to lose his clearance this is
- 15:37the man who like wonders whether he should or shouldn't have created an
- 15:41atomic [ __ ] bomb and like we're supposed to care whether
- 15:44he whether somebody who's going to be a politician not the president just going
- 15:49to be what this minister of [ __ ] finances or something yeah whatever it
- 15:54felt very much like tried
- 15:57to uh a really dire app plot into
- 16:02something that didn't really matter that much I felt that was um well I thought
- 16:07the point was to silence him because he was he was showing up at these things
- 16:12poo pooing their trying to shut down the the hydrogen bomb and they were pissed
- 16:16off at him about that so the taking away his clearance was to like now he's not
- 16:19going to have a say yeah like we got can you really
- 16:23trust clearance taken away exactly we've got rid of him I thought I thought
- 16:27that's what the point was maybe but this is years after and he's been a celebrity
- 16:30on tally for so long I I just think that's an unrealistic point of view to
- 16:34take that that that one that one argument would have would have
- 16:38discredited him I don't I don't feel that's the case but yeah that's not the
- 16:42movie's fault necessarily yeah and I liked it all like I said I enjoyed it
- 16:46very much and for a three-hour movie I was I was happy to sit there for every
- 16:52minute of the three hours you know like a lot of three- hour movies I'm like
- 16:55come on you wrap this up I was Happ to sit there for nearly the whole movie I
- 17:00did have to pee at one stage oh I definitely had to pee at one stage I
- 17:02took steps so that I didn't have to pee that sounds odd I just peed beforehand
- 17:05he was wearing an adult diaper ladies and gentlemen I peed beforeand and I made I
- 17:10took we talked about this I took scotch in instead of a beer because I knew yeah
- 17:14and and we did talk about this listeners if you don't believe us we really worked
- 17:19out what I texted and I said is this a scotch movie or a beer movie yeah the Scot was
- 17:24excellent that's the other thing too the whole experience of it was [ __ ] great
- 17:27for me cuz it was just like a mostly empty CA oh that's great was sat in the
- 17:31recliner with my little with my Scotch maybe we weren't drunk enough maybe that
- 17:36was the problem it could be maybe I took martinis into um no time to die and that
- 17:41made that a great experience yeah I drank martinis at
- 17:45Barbie well we can talk about Barbie we can we can oh I just want to say one
- 17:49more thing is I thought Kil Murphy's performance was [ __ ] amazing I
- 17:52thought he was [ __ ] amazing in it great oh I do have one more question do
- 17:56you want a new hat no but I did he's got a little one of those little bags that's
- 18:03just got a handle on it one of those little leather cases and I was like oh
- 18:05that's cool yeah such a [ __ ] loser his mate who kept trying to work on the
- 18:12hydrogen bomb right yeah yeah y I was like that guy must
- 18:18look like that guy must they must have gone out of their way to make that guy
- 18:22look exactly like that real had a lot of eyeliner on it looked like yeah I I felt
- 18:26there was a lot of I thought prosthetics then I went Tob after and looked at the
- 18:30actor no he looks exactly like that yeah he just looks like I did it look a lot
- 18:34of them looked a lot like they did interesting job considering they're all
- 18:38well-known celebrities when you look at them next to a photo of the characters
- 18:41I'm like that's quite good that's quite a good pick like even Killy Murphy looks
- 18:47a lot like Oppenheimer they made him look a lot like that like said that he
- 18:50did before going back and getting the apple with the poison in it that part of
- 18:54the story isn't true the part where he
- 18:57poisoned it is he strangled another professor yeah you're definitely
- 19:03supposed to and I really like the scene you know after
- 19:08they after the Trinity test when they you know they drive off with the the two
- 19:13nuke City made to you know to drop on Japan that's a great moment and he's
- 19:17like all right so you'll call me and um like why and my was like uh
- 19:23sure and then and then uh yeah on the day he's like sat there [ __ ] chain
- 19:27smoking and his wife's like what are you doing he's like I thought they would
- 19:30have called by now and she's like [ __ ] I'm gon call you [ __ ] yeah yeah yeah
- 19:35and then he hears on the radio and then the guy does call he goes yeah it worked
- 19:37see yeah mhm they're all well done yeah and he does that speech where he oh yeah
- 19:43I bet the Japanese didn't like it h he's laughing but his eyes like his just that
- 19:48scene is just like yeah great you could just the way he delivers that but you
- 19:53can see like in his eyes he's like what the [ __ ] have I done yeah yeah and
- 19:58blames himself yeah in the movie I don't know how he felt in real life obviously well
- 20:05certainly wanted you to think that he blamed himself yeah he you know yeah he
- 20:10went on to he did he did go on to do all that stuff that he does later to try and
- 20:13fight the hydrogen bomb and all that kind of stuff yeah yeah but he said my
- 20:17bomb's enough that one's to gone too far well he wanted it to be a deterrent not
- 20:21a yes and then like that what's that thing he says later on where they're
- 20:25like oh when did your feelings change and he goes oh when I realized any
- 20:28weapon we make you'll use it and that's the thing you make a
- 20:32weapon it's going to be used and it's not the whole idea of deterrence doesn't
- 20:37work oh I thought Gary Oldman was a bit odd in it too that scene was a bit odd I
- 20:42didn't dislike it as such but it was very he can play any world leader any
- 20:48yeah I like it was a little like like
- 20:52soft the the the phrasing that he uses in that scene was Verbatim what he
- 20:58actually said yeah okay well then in that case I take it back cuz I I felt it
- 21:02was just like I was like okay yeah we got it but then we like get that whining
- 21:05little you know don't let him back in here or whatever whatever whining little
- 21:08crybaby or whatever was yeah yeah whatever he says I was like okay a
- 21:12literal but he really said that evidently said it but not he didn't say
- 21:15it to oppenheimer's face like he didn't say it as he was closing the door still
- 21:19with an ear shot said it later on when somebody asked him about it he said oh
- 21:24that winging little crybaby or whatever it was what should we do with last Elm
- 21:28now give back to the Indians and they're both like no that's not going to happen
- 21:32mate yeah well I just want to go back to that thing where he he's in the office
- 21:37like and he's naked and Phil cuz that wasn't him imagining that that was his
- 21:41wife which I just remember that makes even weirder like it wasn't because it's
- 21:45meant to be all about human then there's just this scene where it's his wife
- 21:48imagining this and yeah it was just she knew she already knew that he'd gone
- 21:54back to her so I don't know it was just and and like that kind of thing hadn't
- 21:58happened so I mean I knew what it was doing it wasn't like there was one why
- 22:02is he naked I'm so confused no I knew what he was doing it's just cuz he gave
- 22:05his speech at the end when and he was imagining everyone dead and everything
- 22:09so there was another time where he did do it but but it was still him yes I I
- 22:14agree with that luk and actually I was expecting a little more of that in the
- 22:17black and white sequences because I know they said black and white sequences are
- 22:20purely subjective and color sequence are objective but I feel they only leaned
- 22:25into that a couple of times and and they really could have um I also thought it
- 22:30was just a little bit OD and Nolan does get criticized for not giving women
- 22:34enough dialogue to chew on um and the scene with um Emily Blunt was was very
- 22:40very good except that you were like where was this for the rest of the
- 22:43[ __ ] movie if I was going say until that point I was like [ __ ] the women
- 22:46don't get a lot of time in this do they view just like a thing he uses and
- 22:51then tosses pair of tits and his wife's the same thing yeah yeah just smaller
- 22:57tits but I think that's also a product of the
- 23:01tire I don't think sure a product a he was also meant to be he was also meant
- 23:07to be a big womanizer and you didn't I don't really get that from only two
- 23:11women I agree but myv of the movie is when it was such a small line but when
- 23:17he goes oh blah blah blah died of a broken heart because he found out that
- 23:20um you having an affair with his wife and he goes impossible he never found out yeah yeah
- 23:26yeah that's a really good line in it too I look I thought it was it one of the
- 23:31best Pi I've ever seen said to him early on something about algebra is like Opera
- 23:35it doesn't matter if you can read sheet music can you hear the
- 23:39music I was like oh that's a good line yeah I think I think that is actually a
- 23:42quote from somebody I think I just wanted or I felt I was over
- 23:48promised that sub that subjectivity in that black and white sequence that I was
- 23:53waiting for something more imaginative to happen yeah that's fair um but then
- 23:58again that's not the movie's fault that I wanted something
- 24:02different I have something else to say but I'll say it after cuz after we talk
- 24:06about the next movie no it's not spoiler no no no so we also watch
- 24:11Barbie uh so did you just go by yourself or did you
- 24:16just out way too much didn't we it's out
- 24:19Barbie's out I watched it it's fine M yeah I laughed a lot it's fine yeah I
- 24:25laughed a lot that hilarious it's definitely not the movie you thought
- 24:30it once I figured out it wasn't all about horses my favorite scenes when Ken all
- 24:36that whole sequence where he's trying to get a job yeah but he's in there and and
- 24:39he's like uh can I speak to a doctor and she's like I am a doctor he go oh can
- 24:44you get me a coffee yeah oh there he is hang on a minute it was good because um
- 24:50like any anyone who says it's like anti-man or or whatever it's way too
- 24:54feminist and Stu it's like you haven't seen the movie because even into the
- 25:01patriarchy not yeah he's like just because I'm a man doesn't mean I can get the job here
- 25:07and they're like no not if you don't have a degree like yeah you know like it
- 25:12doesn't work for him as well and until he creates his own you know k at the end
- 25:17but uh he goes even cuz he's he's not a lifeguard he's his job is Beach his
- 25:22Beach but then he goes in the LIF guard's like well you can't rescue
- 25:25anybody from here and he is well not qualified to rescue anybody anyway so
- 25:27that works great that's right yeah but when she's like where does Ken live and
- 25:32she's like I have no idea no
- 25:36idea um evidently and I don't know this to be true but I I read it as a fact on
- 25:42the internet um somebody said that the pilot on their plane was like um my
- 25:47name's Ken my job is plain and I thought than you that's
- 25:52good no with you what if this beach you'll need an expert yes
- 25:59yeah he was like he it's CU it's it's not the kids movie that I thought was going to
- 26:05be even like At first I thought it was a bit and as it went later on I was like
- 26:10kids aren't going to understand what the [ __ ] this is about no I I don't know
- 26:14about you Matt but when Rita rutner starts [ __ ] tugging on the
- 26:18heartstrings talking about daughters and oh man I really I really got me really
- 26:22moved really moved it was good the um I mean
- 26:28obviously the Kens have it worse I'm joking I'm being fous in that
- 26:35world they do because I was like well I mean Ken don't even get to live in a
- 26:37house we don't know where they live no that's right so women stop complaining
- 26:42yeah and there is that but there's there also that great moment that's what I
- 26:45liked about it is because everyone is coming down either it's man hating or
- 26:48it's to this or to that there's that point where that woman who was the
- 26:51president is now swimming beer and then and she's like don't you hate this she's
- 26:56like to be honest it's kind of nice to not have a a lot of responsibility for a
- 26:59change like and like yeah what point is this movie trying to make it's actually
- 27:03not trying to make one point at all it's just trying to say pointing out things
- 27:08complicated yeah that's right it's pointing out new on both sides and
- 27:11that's that's what I really liked about it yeah no I did like it I didn't you
- 27:16know like I said didn't didn't BL me away as I just cuz everyone was talking
- 27:20it up and it was such a big thing and I watch the worst I saw it when I still
- 27:25thought it was going to be absolute garbage so and I think that's the best
- 27:28you're pleasantly surprised yeah yeah you're probably right well yeah I think
- 27:32like cuz I heard someone say before I went to see it like if you love barie
- 27:35you're going to love this movie if you don't like Barbie you're still gonna
- 27:37love this movie and I think that does work because it is just it's a good fun
- 27:43movie same script verbatim but He-Man goes oh way they've done that it was the
- 27:49original it was awful with quor oh no it's because I couldn't animate
- 27:55snarf that's right um talking about doing another He-Man yeah no no they got
- 28:01canned do it properly and I got no problem with it I think it got canned
- 28:04yeah they got until Barbie made a billion dollars for Matel
- 28:08Point mat's all about the money at the moment anymore I got say I can't do Will
- 28:14Farrell anymore and and will farell and Kate McKinnon I just can't I know I look
- 28:19I I never liked the Saturday Night Live
- 28:22style of Comedy post uh I still laughed at things in the scenes they were in yes
- 28:28good one but I was going to I was not going to say that but that's a better
- 28:31one yeah that crew with the why can't I think of the worst actor in the world
- 28:36but he used to be my favorite comedian [ __ ] hell Chris Farley but that era all of his
- 28:42friends Chase way after that the 90s who am I thinking of [ __ ] Billy Billy [ __ ]
- 28:49Madison Adam Sandler Adam sand Sandler that era I never liked their Satur Night
- 28:56Live but I liked their movies came out
- 28:58of it yeah um but then I so I'm old
- 29:03Chris Farley so they're going to be my examples Black Sheep yeah Black Sheep I
- 29:08mean those aren't good movies but they're not good but they were fun I
- 29:12don't know the end of [ __ ] Billy Madison where they doing the quiz and
- 29:15that guy's like if anyone attempts to
- 29:16cheat like my wife who's a dirty dirty
- 29:23[ __ ] like that's that's Classic Cinema take no Christopher
- 29:30[Laughter] Nolin I have to say one thing just to follow up on what you guys were talking
- 29:36about I I don't think I'll ever watch barie again despite how much I like I'm
- 29:40sure I won't either I'm sure I but I already did try and see if I could see
- 29:43Oppenheimer and IMAX and I I I'll definitely watch it again I just wanted
- 29:47to put that out there I will [ __ ] watch this again but would you put it on
- 29:51at home yeah if I if I could well it's not a movie I could put on you know if
- 29:56L's running around and the [ __ ] going on right if I could sit down and just like
- 30:00again like I did just sit there with a scotch and just [ __ ] drink it in yeah
- 30:04I would yeah but yeah but communing to that 3 hours that would be quite
- 30:11difficult that be the problem at home why three hours no that's the thing I
- 30:17honestly that is a nice thing about going to the movies is that I'm in there
- 30:21to watch the movie it's like being on a plane you on a plane it's like I'm just
- 30:25going to watch a movie and no one can [ __ ] annoy me because what are they going
- 30:28with children it's out more concerned that she's going
- 30:34to happily sit there and watch a movie good point yeah I've ruin that for
- 30:38myself too then yeah no I I always love PL for that reason no one can call
- 30:44me okay yeah Barbie so I enjoyed my homework we've all seen the same two
- 30:50movies y well three Indiana Jones we watched too yeah oh yeah it was a good
- 30:56year for movie for I'll say this I thought Indiana Jones was the worst of
- 31:00three and I I hate that it was but it it absolutely was for me although it's
- 31:04probably the one I'm most likely to watch again oh so we watched another
- 31:09movie too this is not a recent release it's just another really good movie that
- 31:12I'll give a shout out to that I think I'm pretty sure Dan you like and that's
- 31:16Ponty pool oh Ponty paol is magnificent yeah so that's a good movie that's one
- 31:21of my favorite like all in one place
- 31:26yeah good Indie good of we just have this one set it's a cool radio station
- 31:31set and it's like a it's like aie movie but you're just see it from this one
- 31:35guy's point of view if it's like a call-in radio show and he's like this
- 31:40cool disc joogy and it's yeah great movie and people are calling in talking
- 31:45about this [ __ ] weird [ __ ] happening outside they biting him and he's like
- 31:49what are you talking about like yeah so good it's really good so good great
- 31:54movie no yeah that's you saw that for the first time no no no no no no we uh
- 31:59just rewatched it just Jenna was just like I want to watch ponti pool I was
- 32:01like [ __ ] yeah let's watch that so so I've been on a I've been on Johnny Depp
- 32:07movie marathon uh recently uh just keep we stand with Johnny Depp Shing out no
- 32:12don't stand with him but I'll happily watch his movies I watch Rum Diary
- 32:16because that's the one where he actually met Amber herd for the first time she's
- 32:20great in it they're both great it's funny movie [ __ ] it's funny um he plays
- 32:25hundr Thompson essentially um it's
- 32:28Thompson Adventure um but uh there's one bit he had many of those there's one bit
- 32:34where he's like um he gets a job down in um Puerto Rico as a as a journalist and
- 32:41uh he's like the the last guy that I'm replacing did he go back to America or
- 32:46what and they're like no he was raped to death and he's like raped to death and
- 32:50they're like yeah raped to death he's like raped to death and he's like yeah
- 32:56raped to death there's not a lot of places on this island I wouldn't go but
- 32:59the toilets down by the docks are definitely one of them he's like sorry
- 33:04raped to death like it's really funny all
- 33:10right what's it called again the rum di R yeah yeah yeah okay I'm going to write
- 33:16that down yeah I mean just it's not going to change your life but it's it's no
- 33:21op to have on yeah what I like about Johnny Depp is
- 33:27that for the most handsome man in the world arguably he's very happy to look
- 33:32like a [ __ ] idiot you know he does these
- 33:35Expressions um clueless expressions and you can believe like you believe it when
- 33:41women think is attractive but for some reason you always also believe it when
- 33:44women think he's a bit of a DG idiot yeah and so he's relatable in a way that
- 33:49a lot of you know Brad Pit for example isn't Brad Pit cannot play not
- 33:55handsome sure yeah yeah I can't think of anything he's been
- 34:00in that would want to Brad put you
- 34:06mean yeah exactly exactly even as a much older man now Leo can do Le Caprio can
- 34:11do both I call him Leo he can do both yeah um I think it took him a while to
- 34:16get there though but I think Leo was a
- 34:20fantastic looking younger man sure and now he's going to be and a slightly oddl
- 34:26looking old man see I think the opposite
- 34:31way how track [ __ ]
- 34:36K because there was a trailer for that new Scorsese film before Oppenheimer as
- 34:40well and he's in that and he's looking like he's I think he's put on wait for
- 34:44it he's looking a bit weird and that's what he's also the only man in Hollywood
- 34:48that doesn't look possibly the only man ever who doesn't look better with a
- 34:51beard you know everyone else grows a beard and you're like [ __ ] yeah you look
- 34:55serious now you look sick yeah he grows a beard and you're like oh shave that off
- 35:00mate I don't think so
- 35:05yeah I need to trim my beard speaking of um men with oh no we're not going to
- 35:10talk about now teaser for the Afterparty RS have gone to jail find out who and
- 35:17find out what we think and find out who else has been canell over the whole
- 35:20thing we can seg we can segue to something related to Oppenheimer um
- 35:26Christopher Nolan Bond rumors are back there's not much to
- 35:30say about this except that the rumors about it again and I think then one of
- 35:34the broccoli say oh yeah he's a good director like like that [ __ ] means anything yeah he
- 35:38is now he said his quote was he would love to do a James Bond film but he
- 35:43would only do it if they let him do it however he wanted and that's not
- 35:48generally what the broccolis are about it means like
- 35:54this yeah um I don't think he would make a good Bond movie I think he did make a
- 36:01good Bond movie it was called tenet and it was one of the best Bond movies not
- 36:04about James Bond and also had time travel um yeah I don't know I just I
- 36:10don't think he could I watched a movie this week had two of the actors from
- 36:14tenet in it um oh yeah that I didn't know were in this movie before I started
- 36:19watching it it was called Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire right oh yeah had
- 36:23not seen that before cuz I'd only seen up to the prisoner of aaban
- 36:28oh go of fire is the no that's not a good one it's got uh Robert Paton yes
- 36:34and I didn't know he was he die I don't I'm not gotten to the end yet but thanks
- 36:37Cedric Di and um it's also got it's got
- 36:42that woman who says don't [ __ ] worry about the plot Just Go With It When
- 36:47She's telling protagonist how to pick up
- 36:51books but I'm a young and very beautiful
- 36:56woman very beautiful okay interesting I haven't watched that
- 37:02movie in ages yeah I remember that not being one of the best ones I mean all
- 37:06the Harry Potters are pretty no it's pretty good yeah I I'll say this though
- 37:09because I I waited till I was in my 40s before I started watching Harry Potter
- 37:12right because I I was you know in my 20s before they were even written so I
- 37:16missed the first boat um I'm going back now I thought the first Harry Potter
- 37:20movie was amazing like Flawless Perfect music perfect everything just like just
- 37:26a wonderful movie and the second one was my favorite kind of sequel just more
- 37:30like the first one you know what I mean exactly the first one but another story
- 37:33then the third one they changed it it went all dark and I was like oh come on
- 37:38and I like dark stuff just as much as the next guy but this is Harry Potter
- 37:41like where are the colors what's this faded green that everything is now and
- 37:46and this I then I just sort of got bit over it and then just the story does go
- 37:51that way in the books too though like it it just gets darker I tell you though
- 37:55guys I'm waiting for all the transphobia and just can't see it you won't find it
- 38:00it wasn't in there back then there well then why she used to be like quite a
- 38:04good she was seen as a very liberal kind of champion of the you know the LGBT I
- 38:11mean it's not very hold on it's not very diverse I haven't come across any
- 38:14non-whites I haven't come across any non-hero like it it's well you will in
- 38:20Goblet of Fire cuz isn't Cho in that Cho okay sure the most British Asian person
- 38:27I've ever SE yeah yeah and she's she's Asian so her name is cho chong I think yes but she
- 38:32talks like the queen probably yeah I think she was sort of
- 38:38very on right well not the right side but she was sort of you can say the
- 38:44right side we know the correct side like dador gay and all this stuff
- 38:50right like she was sort of very and then stuff came out that she didn't like and
- 38:56she was against that but the beginning was she was going back basically say oh
- 39:00yeah that's but just to be clear I didn't say hanani wasn't black that's
- 39:04what she said one point everyone was like does it say pretty heavily implied
- 39:09skin was as white as porcelain or something ah maybe I don't know I you
- 39:15know what I I've not read any of the books I just I heard an argument against
- 39:19that that says if you didn't say she was might be right you heavily implied it oh
- 39:23it is it is heavily implied yeah and also she goes to a posh board School in
- 39:27Scotland which also heavily implies it sure I mean let's be honest
- 39:33right um you reminded me um the Creator is coming out oh I cannot wait I forget
- 39:39what you said that reminded me but yes I'm [ __ ] excited about that cuz and I
- 39:42also found out that Hans did the music for it oh did he oh what a great combo
- 39:46so I'm even more excited at this point Edwards plus Hans so I'll be to do his
- 39:52own sci-fi movie however he wants can't believe it I'm so excited
- 39:57yeah me too oh I I haven't heard about this movie but backrop of war between
- 40:04humans robots with artificial intelligence a former Soldier finds the
- 40:07secret weapon a robot in the form of a young child yeah it looks sick it looks
- 40:11fantastic I need to watch this before we get off Nolan's James Bond entirely i'
- 40:17just like to say one other thing that I think could work um Nolan has worked
- 40:24with Aaron Taylor Johnson before who who was the big bearded Soldier calling the
- 40:30shots at the end in that double pincer action sequence yeah uh he was also
- 40:36kickass um yep and he has come out and
- 40:40said unashamedly I want to be James Bond and I think that could work so I think
- 40:45if Christopher noo directs Aaron Taylor Johnson Stars I think that that could
- 40:50really work oh he's going to be um Craven as well Craven the hunter so oh
- 40:55yeah that looks awful though I don't know I think that looks just balls to the
- 40:59wall action and I'm it looks [ __ ] insane he gets bitten by a lion and gets
- 41:04lion Powers that's all on but that's straight out of the comics man I mean if
- 41:09you want to start going come on Spider-Man gets bitten by a spider and
- 41:13get spider powers all right it's a radioactive spider though it's
- 41:17different wait wait till you see it come on it might yeah let's let's go I didn't
- 41:23watch morbius yet I guess of course you didn't nobody did why would
- 41:27no watch I I I still love how they thought that people wanting to watch it
- 41:32again so they tried to re-release it to cinema does he actually say it's morbin
- 41:37time in the the movie sure he doesn't that's what everybody online
- 41:43talks about they like I love that scene it's morbin time and it's a picture of
- 41:47Jared Leto in the movie and then I just I'm like I hope he does say it because
- 41:52that's insane that's an insane thing to put in a movie yeah
- 41:58um J Robert Jewish right yes oh that's the
- 42:04thing I was GNA talk about yeah okay before the movie He Got Away With
- 42:09It CU he didn't put on a fake nose just to tie this back to last week's show yes
- 42:14you know no one says a word about you playing a Jew providing you don't put on
- 42:20makeup so I didn't think about any of that before the movie I sat down and
- 42:24then the very first thing that played was a a like a I guess short film SL you
- 42:30know like public service announcement style thing where a woman gets like like
- 42:35you know [ __ ] die sprayed on her garage and like a swasty car and and
- 42:39then she tells get in the car get in the car and then she drives off and when she
- 42:42comes back like and the neighbor's looking and when she comes back it's
- 42:46gone and the neighbor's got paint on his shoe and she she she goes oh see honey
- 42:52it's okay and then she she goes oh thank you to him and then it came up and it
- 42:55said um you know don't be mean to Jews kind basically like it was like the
- 43:01called the Blue Square to not be mean to I was like I was like do we need to be told that
- 43:07apparently we do and then I was so confused about it and then and then
- 43:10there was another one later and then it came up and it said you know like Jews
- 43:12have targeted in the in the US you know blah blah blah even though they make
- 43:16such a small percentage of population blah blah blah blah all this stuff and I
- 43:20was like cool okay fair enough and then and then the movie started and I was
- 43:25like oh that makes more sense now like is it just before this movie
- 43:31yeah or are they just doing this now because this movie does feature people
- 43:35being discriminated against because of because they're Jewish so I was like is
- 43:39that why it was shown I mean set during and before World War II so it's the
- 43:43right for it you would like to think they don't anymore but I guess they do
- 43:47yeah I was just curious whether it's is it is it because of the movie contains
- 43:52that as a theme or is it because America is [ __ ]
- 43:57like I wasn't sure I think it might have been a bit of both so I wouldn't if i'
- 44:01seen barie movies and there a a trailer at the start of Barbie that said stop
- 44:07being mean to Jewish people then I'd know CU yeah you could have one that
- 44:11says you know pay women what men get like maybe every movie needs a little
- 44:16thing before it the problem is like in
- 44:19Australia our racism is so hidden right like it would have to come up like oh
- 44:26don't marginalize the Aboriginal people and then people half the people in the
- 44:29cinema would be like I've never seen an Aboriginal person and it's like that's
- 44:32the marginalization we're talking
- 44:36about yeah yep anyway yeah just it about to vote or whether or not they get a
- 44:41voice in Parliament that's literally how they're phrasing it too yeah huh it's
- 44:46called The Voice vote Yes or No to get a
- 44:50voice they didn't previously well I mean they could if there weren't any racial
- 44:55hurdles to jump over oh
- 44:59huh yeah it's it's it's not yeah it's make sure that they've got they're being
- 45:04heard they've got wait in that's there for them not uh you have to be voted in
- 45:11they've got to have something that's there no matter what that's yeah that's
- 45:14the it applies to the stuff in bar applies to racist stuff over here
- 45:17generally this kind of thing is that when when the when things are set up as
- 45:20they are because of you know what happened in the past you kind of have to
- 45:26go a little hard in the other direction in order to fix it because to bring it
- 45:31back up because otherwise it's just not going to happen there a race of people
- 45:34starting because the status quo is pretty good for certain people and they
- 45:39don't want it to change golf it's called a handicap no one complains you know
- 45:44we've got to do it I mean most of the world most of the
- 45:49world's problems can be today can be summed up with one word colonialization you know
- 45:55like on this comedy podcast that's
- 46:01right let's move on to something fun what have we got sure oh I've been
- 46:06playing a video game this week have you I I've been wanting to ask I've been
- 46:10playing St have you been playing um I've playing Starfield um what do you think I
- 46:16really like it I really like it I've got a couple of issues with it but not big
- 46:21issues I agree with you all that uh it it it rocketed you into the story line
- 46:26in a in in a a way that felt a little bit unearned except that I just went
- 46:30back to that story line to finish off stuff that relates to that and it kind
- 46:35of feel okay that maybe that was it just
- 46:39felt very very rushed but that's okay um like we need to get this guy a spaceship
- 46:44let's something just give it let just someone walk up to him and goes the KE
- 46:49someone to drive this spaceship to a certain place maybe he could like run it
- 46:53follow a a realtor and uh save his son from
- 46:58a I give you a with a very low we rate um
- 47:05you I did find it very familiar that you you touch an alien Relic and have a
- 47:11vision and mass very familiar we've played this game before yeah they need
- 47:18to steal something else well not steal something else Mass Effect in they need
- 47:23to bring the make mo mo in oh yeah I need a vehicle for exploring planets
- 47:29yeah that does get Ted slow yeah it's tedious yeah um I'll say this though
- 47:35here's my one criticism I like it all I like the dialogue I like the
- 47:39characterization I like the story line and all of that it's really good it's
- 47:45less like Skyrim in many ways I think I think it's more it's it's definitely
- 47:49Fallout in space it's just Fallout it looks like a reskinned Fallout
- 47:54but but with Fallout you can there's continuity for everything you walk out
- 47:59of one place into another place you still feel like you've got that place
- 48:03behind you you know you can wander in between them and and and explore this
- 48:07you leave one system for another system you watch a a cut screen and then you
- 48:11watch a load screen it feels disconnected in a way that I don't
- 48:16really like especially I probably and now this would be tedious but that said
- 48:21I probably would like it if it was more like no man's sky where I had to fly
- 48:23from one planet to another because at least then I would feel like it was one
- 48:28continuous game because once you do get around and explore part of the Galaxy
- 48:32you end up just fast traveling everywhere yeah yeah and I think and I think that's
- 48:39just something that they maybe this why they took a little bit longer with the
- 48:42game they'll try I think they'll try and to work something out for that space
- 48:45part CU I think that's missing something I don't know what it is I think may just
- 48:50be the fact you aren't flying to places you just do and I still think like when
- 48:54you when you you fly to a planet by just selecting it in a menu or more like I
- 49:00just go find on map when I go into the the
- 49:04the quest screen find on map screen takes you right there okay hit go to
- 49:10there and then when you get there you do that you process again and you and you
- 49:13just zoom in it shows you the spots you okay I'll say this I have tried to do
- 49:18that to a system that's too far away where you have to do multiple jumps and
- 49:22it won't let you and then it won't let you it says no no to do this you would
- 49:26have to jump to to a system you haven't explored yet so you're going to have to
- 49:28do that first okay okay do that but once you get once you get a good ship that's
- 49:33not a thing anymore right yeah right cuz I can just go
- 49:37anywhere I stole a new ship I called it the I named it the trash Panda really
- 49:43your big isn't it these ships from when I get land any still letting you walk
- 49:48aboard I don't have a choice Danny I am armed and I am coming aboard that is
- 49:53funny because I mean obviously this is Skyrim uh fall out everything you are
- 50:00ridiculously overdressed for a lot of the situations you find yourself in
- 50:04like like when I'm just in the lodge just chilling out with those people who
- 50:08are wearing like just like my helmet still on yeah exactly like I'm you can
- 50:12hide that you there's an option to hide them when you're in areas except people
- 50:16still talk to you as if you're wearing a space suit because yeah right I toggled
- 50:21the option so when I go into third person it looks like I'm just wearing
- 50:24clothes but then someone goes what are you wearing that helmet for and I was
- 50:27like I'm not I'm not there are a couple of bugs like that I also I took um I
- 50:33took a companion into space that sounds a bit took a companion uh into space at
- 50:39one point and the she wasn't wearing a space suit where she clearly was meant
- 50:44to be but her voice was still filtered as if it was through a helmet oh so it's
- 50:49just that the skin didn't load properly or something so I going to say this is
- 50:53the least buggy Bethesda game it's not bad that
- 50:58yeah there's like a couple of minor things I've seen some videos but nothing
- 51:03like compared to like Fallout when that came out Skyrim you walk into a room and
- 51:07all the physics screws up and everything just starts flying around the room I
- 51:10haven't had that happen yeah no they did a good good job
- 51:15no I'm I'm enjoying it yeah I'm gonna I'm GNA go back I had a little bit of a
- 51:20break from it I just felt like playing something else so took a little break
- 51:23but I'm going to go back to it today because we' got I was playing the crew I
- 51:28was playing a driving game oh yeah that came out the other day just yeah I
- 51:33actually got Ubisoft Plus for it so because I didn't want to pay $100 for it
- 51:36so I just subscribed for a month cancel it instantly I'll play the game I just
- 51:41like something where I didn't have to think yep
- 51:44sure so you watch play because we got cyber Punk coming
- 51:50out yeah so I've I've got cyberp punk 2.0 releases September
- 51:57sorry September 21st very exciting very exciting soon so soon
- 52:02after after Starfield that's an
- 52:06odd not that the the the Mac version of Boulders gate will finally be released
- 52:12that same day the 21st so I can actually start playing that properly too and I'm
- 52:17glad I didn't B for you mat start playing it in the Early Access thing cuz
- 52:20I learned from somebody who did the PC version won't copy a lot changes when
- 52:26the final release comes out and yes they do in it might be different with the PC
- 52:31I don't know how they're going to handle this on on this but in their case they
- 52:35did have to basically ditch all their pre-release stuff to and start the game
- 52:39over oh that would suck yeah so I'm glad I haven't spent
- 52:44too much time on it you know what you're getting yeah Dan I will say we you'll
- 52:48get balers Gate 3 on the Xbox before the end of October that's my prediction oh
- 52:52okay that's very soon not going to comment I'll get yelled at again we'll see yeah yeah
- 52:56that's right you just shut your mouth man you're not welcome in this
- 52:59conversation anymore the only thing is if you had an Xbox series s you wouldn't
- 53:03be able to play split screen no which I still do not understand bould skate is
- 53:08not a split screen game but I just do not understand why
- 53:12Xbox are trying to divide Their audience like they're selling two consoles now
- 53:16this is this is nonsensical well no no that's the thing they're trying not to
- 53:20divide they well I I mean I know but they are but they've got one that can do
- 53:27things that the other can't but they're not letting the developers take
- 53:30advantage of the one that can yeah it's just a bit yeah I don't I
- 53:34don't understand why they did the series s at launch feels
- 53:38bizarre yeah it's a bit I mean I understand why but like you don't want
- 53:44to hand game developers come on guys you want them to use everything
- 53:49available to them let also isn't it kind of like a upsell opportunity like if
- 53:54someone's got an Xbox series s and they're like I like Boulders Gate 3 but
- 53:57I wish my friend who sat here right next to me could be playing at the same time
- 54:00on the same computer same system by a series X yeah every single
- 54:06console I mean no the last couple I've bought on you know as soon as they
- 54:10released just because I want the next gen but in the early days it was a game
- 54:15it was a single game that I was like well I can't play that without the new
- 54:17console so guess I'm the new console for sure mhm
- 54:22yeah they made I also they need to release new Xbox though I wanted to
- 54:28release an Xbox series X without a disc drive oh okay why don't know why I just want
- 54:35one just put one you've got the only time I even access the dis drive on the
- 54:40Xbox series X is when I'm trying to sync the controller and forget that the
- 54:44little sync button is on the other side and I'm pressing eject over and over
- 54:49again I use jennis to watch hackers in uh 4K what they should have done cuz they
- 54:55released a Series S without the disc drive and the series X with they should
- 54:59have swapped that the disc drive should have been on the series s cuz that's a
- 55:02cheaper one you can going to cheaper and people are probably going to be buying
- 55:07discs for the cheaper I was going to say when was the last time an actual disc
- 55:10but you bought one for Starfield right
- 55:13oh no didn't get a disc I got a code oh see there you go you going to give it
- 55:19away you can't cuz you've claimed it I can't oh wow
- 55:25hello on a on a on a chip yeah it's green though I also didn't realize when
- 55:30you when you were talking about your watch I didn't realize that watch was an
- 55:33actual item in the game amazing yes handed over like the pit boy equivalent
- 55:40yeah yeah but yeah that that if they had to me if you had switched over the
- 55:44series X was digital I think that would have made more sense to me
- 55:48because you can't people you're buying a cheaper one it's probably because you
- 55:52don't have them yeah you're buying a cheaper one for a reason and if you're
- 55:56using discs would be a better way for if you're worried about that disc because
- 56:01you can trade them in borrow things like that digital there's still no way for us
- 56:04to on sell or no do anything how much cheaper is it what's i' not even looked
- 56:10at the price of an S I think here it's like 200 bucks
- 56:15cheaper or something it's $299 instead of $4.99 could be is a significant dis
- 56:22difference if you're if you're a mom you know looking for a Christmas present for
- 56:26your 299 there two Xboxes and one is very expensive yeah it's $300 difference here
- 56:32okay yeah it's decent that's quite a bit you know what else is really expensive
- 56:37uh iPhones um I was I was holding out I was holding out getting a new phone
- 56:44because I want to get a Max cuz I I just want the more screen real estate and and
- 56:48you know the new ones are coming out they got the USBC yeah why not I'll I'll
- 56:51I'll have a look at these they're [ __ ] expensive the cheapest one is
- 56:56over two grand like it's it's the most expensive phone they've ever made really
- 57:00expensive yeah and you get a charger in the Box
- 57:05yeah yeah it's pretty intense they do have USBC there also I
- 57:11saw there was an article about how like it's it's a they said oh it's a full
- 57:15USBC Port it's not limited in any way same as the ones on the iPads and stuff
- 57:19and everyone was like Yay and I was like don't get too excited I've got an iPad
- 57:22with a USBC Port that doesn't mean your obscure [ __ ] thing is going to work
- 57:26with it oh cuz there's no drivers like there's a ton of things
- 57:31that I've got that if I plug into my iPad my iPad's like I don't know what
- 57:34that is yeah yeah it just doesn't work so like just don't get too excited
- 57:38listeners yeah I just I can't get over the price cuz like I've got I've got a
- 57:43pixel 7 that cost me what I think it was 1100 like I can't imagine spending
- 57:48another thousand my oh that is that the Australian price must be yeah okay cuz
- 57:55my I I have a 14 pro Max and I think it
- 58:00cost me 1,500 us I think that's what I paid for which is a lot yeah that's yeah
- 58:06that's that's I was going to say yeah yeah yeah that's why at first I was like
- 58:09hang on but then yeah that is that's far too much for a
- 58:13Fone it is and of course you don't have to pay that up front you can just pay it
- 58:17off over the course of your plan but $50
- 58:20a month extra is a three-year contract
- 58:25you know it's $50 a month for three years if you want to do it in one year
- 58:30that means you're going to release three phones in that time period exactly
- 58:33exactly although I've got I'm still on a 13 Pro right now so I'm two generations
- 58:38behind which means three phones so I mean that is that is about what I
- 58:42normally do what I normally do is I just once my phone's about to die ready I
- 58:46just buy last year's model see I've looked at the 14s now and they haven't
- 58:50come down enough that I feel but is it is the new one out yet it's out for
- 58:55pre-order wasn't it was ,000 to actually
- 59:00release yeah that that sounds better times
- 59:0624 my pixel 4 a was 1100 bucks and it was a great phone except it just wasn't
- 59:12an iPhone let me see too small for me how
- 59:17much is one of those new iPhones here just curious cuz that's [ __ ]
- 59:23expensive they haven't announced any new um iPads thank goodness so I don't have
- 59:28to worry about whether I'm going to buy one of those yet PR Max from yeah see
- 59:34here it's the cheapest one is 1100 bucks 1,200
- 59:39bucks the colors aren't that great this time either I know I as in they're all
- 59:43gray well no that's cuz the the top tier are titanium yeah yeah yeah I mean they the
- 59:50titanium looks cool but then it's like you can't get a colorful one
- 59:55anymore okay oh no you you can't you can I think
- 1:00:00you get one for 1,600 not the max right well not the max
- 1:00:05though yeah they've got cheaper versions of it but if you want the big
- 1:00:10screen iPhone 15 Pro Max from
- 1:00:15$21.99 from 21.99 wow it's 12 it's 1,200
- 1:00:20here that's like a I guess I mean I know it's not dollar for dollar obviously we
- 1:00:24trading cents at the moment seems like a big
- 1:00:28difference Australia T Max yeah from $21.99
- 1:00:34and the colors suck what they cuz I thought would it be cheaper for me to
- 1:00:39buy one when one terabyte one one terabyte storage
- 1:00:452900 that's so much money for a phone that's that's that's old timey computer
- 1:00:51price yeah but also why are you getting a terabyte on your phone
- 1:00:57I mean maybe people use it to film a lot of stuff yeah but you know what you can
- 1:01:02do now you can use your USBC to record straight onto an external hard drive
- 1:01:07that's a good point yeah you can do that
- 1:01:10yeah also Apple's storage prices are
- 1:01:14stupid there is no reason their storage prices need to jump up the way that they
- 1:01:18do on on all of their Hardware laptops and stuff included like well what are
- 1:01:24you paying for storage there I I PID bugger all for storage on Google no no I
- 1:01:29mean like physically like if you buy a laptop how much disc space do you want
- 1:01:32inside of it right they they're they're different because they're like you know
- 1:01:37there it's like a they're not like standard ssds that you can slot in
- 1:01:42they're like solded into the board and so they the transfer speeds are higher
- 1:01:45and all that kind of stuff but at the end of the day it's still the same chips
- 1:01:48that are in there right and there's no the the the price that it costs to go
- 1:01:52from 512 to 1 TB in a laptop on a Mac is [ __ ] insane compared to what it
- 1:01:59should be I I just I need to tell our our listeners something and our
- 1:02:05viewers you should feel bad about yourself if you were going out and
- 1:02:09spending $33,000 on this phone you should really feel bad about yourself
- 1:02:15that's a mean thing to say people do what they want Luke Who Are You Luke you
- 1:02:20in particular luk not entitled to sweat his own brow this is very UNL to be
- 1:02:26telling people no you can't do what you want you're a bad person for doing what
- 1:02:30you want Luke how many giant Batmobile ajacent Lego sets have you got in your
- 1:02:36house I've only got two I do want a third one though although I do have three
- 1:02:43sorry what did your wife say when your Starfield [ __ ] deluxe edition arrived
- 1:02:48by the way you follow on that thing where you're wait by the you thought you
- 1:02:51get KCK out of the house intercept it look I'm gonna say one thing people
- 1:02:56should listen to my advice I give great advice I don't listen to my own advice
- 1:03:01but I do give good advice so your advice is don't buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max well
- 1:03:06no you don't need to tell me I can't afford one I just PL old
- 1:03:11can't if you if you were to get one I'm saying don't get the one terab one just
- 1:03:16get the 256 gig oh even then oh sure mine's 512 because I do have [ __ ] on
- 1:03:22there no I don't have games I I I only have apps and and pictures that's it
- 1:03:26that's it like say save yourself I probably didn't need to get 512 I'll be
- 1:03:30honest but I did because I was like well I had 256 the last two phones yeah
- 1:03:35exactly you know exponential but yeah I don't think the price difference was this much
- 1:03:41between no no but and again looking at the prices here to me they seem more
- 1:03:45reasonable than than it sounds the Australian prices are this one 256 gig
- 1:03:50is 2200 and it jumps up to 25 I remember when I was going to buy new one I was in
- 1:03:57Australia and I thought I wonder if it's cheaper to buy it here and I remember
- 1:04:00looking and going [ __ ] no it's not yeah so I waited till I got home
- 1:04:06yeah yeah not going to be doing that just be satisfied with my own phone for
- 1:04:09now which is still working perfectly just want it to be bigger just a shame
- 1:04:13you can't get into the pixels or something because they are a lot cheaper that is
- 1:04:19true before we go to the Afterparty which we do need to do soon I just
- 1:04:23wanted to know did you guys have you guys been watching this Unity stuff
- 1:04:26what's been going on with un follow me a little yeah I what I heard from it is UN
- 1:04:31you're trying to bring in your pricing structure so you you pay them to use the
- 1:04:34engine and then there's going to be something built in so that when people
- 1:04:38download your game MH a portion of what you make from it needs to be paid back
- 1:04:44to it Unity or stupid than that every
- 1:04:48time somebody installs your game on any platform like an install right so if I
- 1:04:55you buy it you install it you delete it you install it again you delete it
- 1:04:57install it again every one of those installs will cost the developer 20 it's
- 1:05:03insan oh that's insane what are you talking about that's what everybody's
- 1:05:08like what the [ __ ] are you talking about so Unity for those who don't know is a
- 1:05:12game engine it has been a fantastic platform like this is the one that I I
- 1:05:17learned it cuz it just seemed really great like you could use it for free and
- 1:05:21then once you started earning over a certain amount of money you had to pay
- 1:05:24you uh unreal event did the same thing mhm um but now Unity got bought out and
- 1:05:31they've been doing stupider and stupider things and this is just [ __ ] it's
- 1:05:35Madness and so there are games like uh Cult of the Lamb which uses Unity they
- 1:05:41said byy it now we are pulling the game because we we cannot do this like we
- 1:05:47cannot afford because no that it's retroactive if you made a game any any
- 1:05:54game that's and then people now people are like is that legal apparently it
- 1:05:58might be we're going to find out retroactively any game out there right now like
- 1:06:03uh disco elium was uh made in unity so
- 1:06:07now anytime anybody installs disco elium the developers charge 20 cents and then
- 1:06:14so people were like couldn't somebody just to to punish a
- 1:06:19developer write a script to like install delete install delete install delete
- 1:06:23install delete and they're like yeah I guess they could see when I first heard about it I
- 1:06:28thought it was just like when someone like purchased a game there was going to
- 1:06:31be a one-off and I for me if you're looking at new pricing wasn't a terrible thing
- 1:06:37sure it was very free the actual the actual thing when you look at it is just
- 1:06:42is really stupid and even to the point where like Penny Arcade made a comic
- 1:06:45about it that's how obviously stupid it is like these guys they're not g i mean
- 1:06:49they the game adjacent and you know it used to be I don't know how it is these
- 1:06:54days it used to be Penny I made a comic about you that was not good if it was
- 1:06:59making fun of you MH and then yeah this comic is quite scathing so I just don't
- 1:07:05understand first of all I don't understand why anybody would ever use
- 1:07:09Unity ever again now because even that people are saying oh they have to roll
- 1:07:14this back it's too stupid they'll roll it back doesn't matter mate the fact
- 1:07:17that they even tried to do this is such a red flag I would never make a game in
- 1:07:23this engine yeah cuz I saw people oh we're going to boycott and I got you a
- 1:07:26bit over the top when but no for inst I still can't inst yeah it's
- 1:07:32really stupid it's it's I think the whoever bought the company just doesn't
- 1:07:36know what the [ __ ] going on oh did they recently sell is that what happened
- 1:07:40yeah yeah they got bought out yeah and then since then they've been doing
- 1:07:43progressively stupider and stupider things and this is just like
- 1:07:48insanity so yeah so like I said yeah games games have uh pull they're Cult of
- 1:07:53the Lamb apparently going to pull the whole game from sale just to because
- 1:07:56they can't they can't deal with it a bunch of Indie developers said they may
- 1:07:59be forced to do the same thing yeah yeah per in like every time somebody installs
- 1:08:04it like Inc literally so stupid the installed definition installation and
- 1:08:10initiation of a game or app on N users device as well as distribution via
- 1:08:15stream is considered an install yeah games or apps will subsequently similar
- 1:08:19contact may be counted as one project with Zs aggregated to Cal each Unity runtime fee
- 1:08:26so saying you if they do an add-on later that wouldn't be counted but
- 1:08:30installation installation a game or app device on a
- 1:08:36device yeahi streaming so I mean you look look around
- 1:08:42a bunch of game developers have come out and said
- 1:08:45like basically they just this is not feasible so it's almost certainly not
- 1:08:52going to happen because it's not possible mm to like to do this and also
- 1:08:58demos if you make a demo of a game you have to pay every time they install the
- 1:09:01demo it like it says that specifically it's Madness yeah that's insane that's
- 1:09:07that's so so so I could make a game yes
- 1:09:12it's sold very badly one person buys it
- 1:09:15y I sell it to them for a dollar y they install it yeah not for me but then come
- 1:09:22back 6 months later install it 6 months later install they keep and and you only
- 1:09:27got 70 cents from Steam anyway after the from the dollar I'm just cuz this person
- 1:09:31keeps coming back to give my game a try another game only you could release a
- 1:09:35game sell it for a dollar and they go I'm not sure I'll install the demo
- 1:09:39version and then delete it and install the demo and install the demo install
- 1:09:42the demo install the demo and then now you're bankrupt mhm you didn't get
- 1:09:46anything it's never a good idea to price your customers out of the market you
- 1:09:51know it's crazy yeah it's really stupid this is made by a decision of someone
- 1:09:54who doesn't understand 100% And that's like I said everyone's saying Oh They'll
- 1:09:59roll this back but it doesn't matter now the damage is done yeah like why would
- 1:10:03you ever like as a new if you were starting a new project why would you
- 1:10:07ever choose Unity now you can't trust them I mean it and it's it it's like
- 1:10:13what can other game engines do this too it's going to have everybody thinking
- 1:10:17that like that now where are people going to go Unity seems pretty prolific
- 1:10:23yeah you could go unreal unreal is the other option that's made by um epic or
- 1:10:29there are open source options like GTO like go Goot is like an open source game
- 1:10:35engine that might be an option it's not as full featured and then there's stuff
- 1:10:38like an Aussie guy called the chero used to work at oh I don't know if he still
- 1:10:42works there he used to work at EA he's making a game engine called Hazel online
- 1:10:47now so there are options but Unity was just super like mm it easy people
- 1:10:53understood it yeah it was like a really option for so long people were making
- 1:10:57stuff for it and you could just go in and go yep I'll grab that oh yeah any i'
- 1:11:01play says maybe the unity yeah yeah simple to use really good documentation
- 1:11:07really good Community which has now turned on it look I've got no issue with them
- 1:11:13going back and looking at their pricing structure and how if they feel they need
- 1:11:16to do that that's fine but something so aggressive like this and just so clearly
- 1:11:20not thought through or like they just don't understand their business seems
- 1:11:26like like it's yeah it's a shame very disappointing so uh yeah
- 1:11:33listeners if you're thinking of making an indie game don't don't use Unity yeah and if
