- 0:19Hello and welcome to episode 226 of the All Systems Go Sports
- 0:25Betting podcast. Powered by.
- 0:27Rhythm. I'm your host, Josh Applebaum.
- 0:34What's going on, everyone? Happy Thirsty Thursday.
- 0:38Our work week rolls on the final week in the month of February.
- 0:41That's right. You got your rent, you got your
- 0:43mortgage coming tomorrow. The 28th is the last day of the
- 0:46month, shortest month of the year.
- 0:48But that's OK with me because the snow is melting, Spring
- 0:51training's in the air, and we can flip the page to March,
- 0:53which just feels like when you get to March, you got March
- 0:56Madness, you got baseball coming back.
- 0:58It's a good time of year to, I don't know, get excited about
- 1:01the spring officially. It feels like spring is kind of
- 1:04on the way, so with that in mind, we're going to get right
- 1:07back to college hoops because we're running pretty good here
- 1:09in college basketball. I have a three pack of sweats.
- 1:12For you tonight, all late night sweats.
- 1:14So they start. At 8:30.
- 1:16PM Eastern Time, 9:00 and 10:00. All three very short.
- 1:20Money line favorites with some good sharp line.
- 1:22Moves, good rhythm, edges. As well as some sharp mush
- 1:24indicators. From Juice Reel, so a three pack
- 1:27as always. Let's try to go 2 and 1 eek out
- 1:30a winning night. I will also mention I'll be on
- 1:32tonight. At 8:00, Sirius.
- 1:35XM VSON live with my buddies Patrick Maher and Dustin
- 1:38Swedelsen so you can check it out on SiriusXM, which if you
- 1:41didn't know vson used to be on SiriusXM left SiriusXM for a few
- 1:46years people were really mad and now they're happy cuz vson is
- 1:49back on SiriusXM so. Usually we have a pretty good
- 1:53time. Me, Patrick and Dustin talking
- 1:55about not just sports betting but random topics, UF OS and I
- 2:00don't know. Last week we were.
- 2:01Talking some geopolitics, so it's always a good time.
- 2:04And if you want to tune in, I'll be on tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern
- 2:07Time. Now, looking back toward last
- 2:09night, guys kept our winning streak going.
- 2:11It wasn't a sweep, but two and 1 + 0.36 units.
- 2:16Had a couple good hits with. Radford getting it done, winning
- 2:19out right on the road. SMU also got it done.
- 2:22And the importance of that SMU play was, again, money lining
- 2:26short home favorites or money lining just short favorites in
- 2:28general. Because SMU, if you remember, we
- 2:30money lined them when they're around.
- 2:32I want to say -3 -. 3 1/2, well, they closed -4 1/2, and they won
- 2:36by exactly 4 points. So again, the reason why I say
- 2:40this is because it happens quite a bit.
- 2:42If you laid the points with a closing line, SMU -4 1/2, you
- 2:45lost. If you went money line and paid
- 2:47up for the extra juice, you won. So it's good to see both SMU and
- 2:51Radford come through. And then one that kept us from
- 2:53another sweep was Oregon State. Oregon State, the battle back
- 2:57and forth against San Fran, they actually had a lead late.
- 3:00They had an opportunity. They were down by a bucket to
- 3:02tie the game and go to OT but just could not, could not get.
- 3:05That that game tying basket. But either way, guys, two and
- 3:08one, a third of a unit, I will take that every single time.
- 3:11We'll put it in our back. Pocket.
- 3:13And reinvest it into today's market.
- 3:15So with that being said, I'm just.
- 3:17Loving 3 College. Basketball games every single
- 3:20day. We're, I think we're in a groove
- 3:21right now. Good routine.
- 3:22So let's see if we can get some winners tonight.
- 3:25If it ain't broke, we ain't fixing it.
- 3:27So first one on the board for me.
- 3:29And these are all kind of, I would argue, somewhat obscure
- 3:32games. Not some of the bigger matchups
- 3:34here tonight. Not a ton of ranked teams
- 3:36playing. But hopefully these will pay out
- 3:38just as well. Or the same has some some big
- 3:41bets on on larger games. But anyway first one for me 8:30
- 3:44PM Eastern Time tonight guys looking at southeast Missouri
- 3:47State visiting SIU Edwardsville. Let's set the.
- 3:51Stage. Talk some line movement, some
- 3:52splits, some predictions, and some game models, then we'll
- 3:55talk. About, of course, which side
- 3:57I'll be. On and you're welcome to join.
- 3:59So going in this one, we have Southeast Missouri State 19 and
- 4:0210 on the year. Had a good season.
- 4:04They're red hot right now. They've won nine straight.
- 4:06Just took down Lindenwood 74 to 58, easily covered as a nine and
- 4:11a half point home favorite. Meanwhile SIU Edwardsville 19
- 4:14and 10, same record. They did just see however their
- 4:17two game win streak come to an end.
- 4:18They lost to Southern Indiana. 82 to 68 they were actually.
- 4:21A four and a half point Rd. favorite lost.
- 4:23Straight up their last time out. What have we seen across the
- 4:26market here? Well, this game opened SIU
- 4:28Edwardsville very short 1 1/2 point home favorite and it's
- 4:32pretty clear. The wise.
- 4:33Guys are going with the home chalk SIU Edwardsville -1 1/2
- 4:37has now gotten bet up all the way to -3 -, 3 1/2.
- 4:41So it's not the most popular game of the night, but one of
- 4:44the most significant line moves. Anytime you can get a full 1 1/2
- 4:47or two points of movement, you know, as long as there's not a
- 4:50major. Injury here.
- 4:51Obviously it's taking a lot of smart money to adjust that
- 4:54number. But I like the.
- 4:55Bet split, in particular on SIU Edwardsville, it's really not
- 4:58the most heavily bet game of the night.
- 5:00But it's got a great split. 63. Percent of spread bets.
- 5:03At DraftKings on SIU. Edwardsville, but they're also.
- 5:05Taking into account. 92% of spread dollars.
- 5:09So again, when I'm looking at bet splits in line movement, I
- 5:12ideally want the team to be getting low.
- 5:14Bets higher dollars in the line moving in their favor like
- 5:16sometimes. Maybe you'll have a line move,
- 5:18but the splits don't really match.
- 5:20Or maybe the splits look great, but the line really hasn't gone
- 5:22in that direction. To me, you got to marry all
- 5:24these together. Low bets, higher dollars, line
- 5:26move, and that's what you're getting here with SIU
- 5:29Edwardsville. Now Ken Palm has Edwardsville
- 5:31winning by 1. Point.
- 5:32So they're -3 -, 3 1/2. In the market.
- 5:35This is why I went money line here SIU Edwardsville on the
- 5:39money. Line I got.
- 5:39Them at -1. 70 little bit pricey.
- 5:42But hey, they win by 1. Or two or three and you know we.
- 5:46Push or lose a three or three and a half we'll be kicking
- 5:48ourselves saying why didn't we money line.
- 5:49Luckily, when you just. Get into the routine of.
- 5:51Always money lining short favorites.
- 5:52You don't really think about it, you just you do it each time and
- 5:55hey, it's it's paying off here with all these different games
- 5:59in which we win straight up but would have lost laying the
- 6:01points but. Money line play here looks
- 6:04really good at DraftKings 73%. Of money line bets. 88.
- 6:07Percent of money line. Dollars on SIU Edwardsville.
- 6:11We also look at some stat advantages for Edwardsville.
- 6:14They have the better offensive rebound percentage, 31% versus
- 6:1724%. That's a pretty big gap.
- 6:19Hopefully Edwardsville can grab some offensive boards.
- 6:22They also limit their opponents to a better two point field goal
- 6:25percentage. They make it harder for their
- 6:27opponent to make 2 point field goals, 46% versus Southeast
- 6:31Missouri State, allowing 49% SAU Edwardsville.
- 6:35I'll always take a team that rebounds better than their
- 6:37opponent because you can, you know, start the.
- 6:40The. Break the other way.
- 6:41You can, you know, defend against offensive boards.
- 6:44But Edwardsville is averaging 30. 8 rebounds per game.
- 6:47Southeast Missouri is averaging 33 rebounds per game.
- 6:51It doesn't hurt that Edwardsville has been pretty
- 6:53good at home 11. And two at home this year.
- 6:55It's also a revenge play for the Cougars.
- 6:57They lost to the red. Hawks earlier this year. 80 to
- 6:5964 on the road in late December. Also, it's kind of.
- 7:03Fishy, too, because southeast Missouri State has won nine.
- 7:06Straight Edwardsville is coming off a loss, yet the line open
- 7:10toward Edwardsville and has moved further toward
- 7:12Edwardsville. It doesn't hurt that our friends
- 7:14at Rhythm, you know, Ken Palm only has Edwardsville winning by
- 7:16one Rhythm has Edwardsville. Minus. 3.9 I love that that
- 7:21basically the sharp analytics that rhythm are a little, you
- 7:23know more bullish here on Edwardsville and then.
- 7:26Always, always like. It when we can.
- 7:28Add in. A sharp mush indicator from our
- 7:30friends at Juice Reel currently. There is a 17.
- 7:33Percent sharp mush edge on Edwardsville.
- 7:36Basically 17% more of the better betters are on Edwardsville than
- 7:40the Again I always joke but the what is it profit deficient
- 7:44betters. You don't want to call them
- 7:45losing betters but the profit division betters.
- 7:47So that's always a benefit when you can get the cherry on top of
- 7:50the sharp mush indicator from juice reel.
- 7:53So, Long story short -1 1/2. Up to -3. 3 1/2 great splits.
- 7:58We got Ken Palm and Rhythm telling us Edwardsville is going
- 8:00to win this game. It's kind of a fishy buy low,
- 8:02sell high. I'm playing Edwardsville on the
- 8:05money line. Start our night off hopefully
- 8:07with a win. Got him at -170 Next play, 9:00
- 8:11PM Eastern Time, Middle Tennessee State visiting New
- 8:14Mexico State now going in this one we have.
- 8:16Middle Tennessee State 18 and 9 on the year.
- 8:19They've won two of their last three, just held off Sam
- 8:21Houston. 74 to 70 didn't cover, though they were.
- 8:24Favored by 5 at home in that one.
- 8:27Similarly, we got New Mexico. State 15 and. 12 on the year.
- 8:30Win loss record isn't quite as good as MTSU, but they have.
- 8:33One, three straight. Just beat Kennesaw 60. 2. 49
- 8:36They won that game outright as a four and a half point Rd. dog
- 8:39so. What have you seen across the
- 8:40market? Here.
- 8:41Well, not quite the big steam move on the home favorite.
- 8:45But if you pay. Attention to read between.
- 8:46The lines Sneaky. Liability on New Mexico State,
- 8:49That's where I'm going, guys. Let's go Aggies.
- 8:53So Mexico State opened as a very short. 1 1/2.
- 8:56Point home favorite? I saw some books even open New
- 8:58Mexico as just a one point favorite.
- 9:01But -1 1/2. For New Mexico State.
- 9:04Is now juiced up -1 1/2 -, 115. So that's the first thing I
- 9:07noticed. We're juiced up, not down toward
- 9:10a pick em, but further up toward New Mexico State.
- 9:12And then also there are a couple of shops at New Mexico State
- 9:14Minus. 2 So it's pretty clear here the.
- 9:16Line is either stayed the same or moved toward New Mexico
- 9:20State. Really, you know, juice is all
- 9:22going toward the Aggies. It's not going down toward.
- 9:24MTSU so. It's not a huge steam move, but
- 9:27juice liability is the big one here for me if they're making.
- 9:30You pay a more. Expensive price to lay the 1 1/2
- 9:33then take the 1 1/2 then. That's a key piece of
- 9:35information. Hopefully ensures that we're on
- 9:37the sharp side with the Aggies now.
- 9:40Pretty good bet split. It is a lower bet game.
- 9:42Late night game but you have New Mexico State getting around 70.
- 9:45Percent of spread bets. Nearly 80% of spread dollars.
- 9:49Don't love that it's a quote UN quote public play, but it is low
- 9:51bet late night and it does at least have the low bets higher
- 9:54dollars split in favor. Of the Aggies.
- 9:57Now Ken Palm has New Mexico State winning by two.
- 9:59So if you want to lay the one and a.
- 10:01Half save the juice. I get it.
- 10:02But that just makes me more excited and confident to just go
- 10:05money line here. I got New Mexico State at a
- 10:07pretty cheap money line -120 some books are closer to like
- 10:11-125 but a good bet split on the money line.
- 10:13At DraftKings, we have New Mexico State getting 69% of
- 10:17money line bets, but 79% of money line dollars.
- 10:20So another or further validation of the sharper, bigger, sharper
- 10:24wagers playing New Mexico State to win outright at home.
- 10:27New Mexico. State some advantages here.
- 10:29First one to me. That, I noticed, is much better
- 10:32defensive efficiency. Let's put the clamps on MTSU.
- 10:35Tonight. We have New Mexico State ranking
- 10:3772nd in the country and defensive efficiency, MTSU ranks
- 10:41157th. Also, New Mexico State limits
- 10:44their opponents to a better effective field goal percentage.
- 10:47To put it another way, they make it more difficult on the
- 10:49shooters that they're opposing 47% versus allowing 49.
- 10:54Percent for MTSU. Aggies also 5th.
- 10:57Best in the country. At defending 3 pointers, making
- 11:01it difficult on the outside shots, the Blue Raiders rank one
- 11:04O 8th, so hopefully that's a benefit really defensively,
- 11:08especially in favor of New Mexico State.
- 11:11Our friends at Rhythm have New Mexico State -1.4, so you're
- 11:14pretty much right on the number, but I did notice there was a
- 11:16very good sharp mush indicator from Juice Reel on New Mexico
- 11:20State. 35% discrepancy, so 35. Percent more of the.
- 11:24Better betters are playing New Mexico State versus the losing
- 11:27betters again who are leaning more toward MTSU, so add it all
- 11:31up. Not a huge line move like the
- 11:33Edwardsville move, but sneaky juiced up liability.
- 11:36We got Ken Palm and Rhythm telling us Mexico State should
- 11:39win this game. We got a good sharp mush
- 11:40indicator as well as some stat advantages, in particular
- 11:45defensively. So I'm going New Mexico State.
- 11:47Let's go Aggies. It would be nice to hit this one
- 11:50because it's a pretty short money line.
- 11:51Got the Aggies. At -120.
- 11:55Last bit of the night the. Dine Pepperdine at Portland and
- 11:59if you like. Edwardsville tonight you like.
- 12:01Portland very similar bet Split. Let's set the stage on this one.
- 12:05Late night sweat. 10:00 tonight, Pepperdine.
- 12:07Comes in 10 and 19 on the year. So 9 games below 500.
- 12:11They've dropped six of their last seven.
- 12:12They've struggled, especially down the stretch.
- 12:15Just lost to Loyola. Miramount 93 to 82, did not
- 12:18cover as a 6 1/2 point Rd. dog. Meanwhile, Portland 11 and 18
- 12:22so. Slightly better record.
- 12:23But they're playing better as a late they've won three of their
- 12:25last. Four just beat Pacific 81 to 70.
- 12:28Three, they won outright as a 2 1/2 point Rd. dog.
- 12:31So. What have you seen across the
- 12:32market here? Well, Portland open this game as
- 12:35a very short. 1 1/2. Point home favorite.
- 12:37And even though this. Is a late late night game.
- 12:40It's not an add to game extra game.
- 12:41It's just a, you know, game 831832, but it is a low bet,
- 12:45tiny obscure matchup. And yet we're seeing not a ton
- 12:48of public participation, but a lot of wise guy movement.
- 12:51Portland open -1 1/2. Portland is now up to -3 1/2.
- 12:55So that same one. And a half to 3 1/2 move that we
- 12:58saw with Ed, Ed Edwardsville. Same thing here with the
- 13:01Portland Pilots again. And the fact that it's a low
- 13:04back game tells me it's it ain't public pushing Portland here.
- 13:07It's sharp betters with an edge now.
- 13:09DraftKings pretty good split. Portland only getting.
- 13:11Basically half the tickets. But nearly 66% of the spread
- 13:15dollars, so good low bets, higher dollar split.
- 13:18Still, I'm going to mitigate some risk here because again,
- 13:22laying a 3 1/2 sharps hammered Portland University at like 1
- 13:261/2 two. So they win by two.
- 13:28The early betters win, we lay a 3 1/2 we lose.
- 13:31So I went money line here. I got Portland around -170 you
- 13:34might be able to find around a -, 162 at FanDuel right now.
- 13:39But I really like the bet split on Portland. 80% of money line
- 13:42bets, 95% of money line dollars. When you see, you know, such
- 13:46heavy splits like that, that go with the line move in a very
- 13:49tiny game, that's meaningful to me, tells me got an overload of
- 13:52smart money going with Portland here.
- 13:54Now one big advantage I noticed with Portland free throw
- 13:57shooting, if this becomes a close game and we got to sweat
- 14:00it, which pretty much always got to sweat them.
- 14:02It's never easy. But you know what rocking chair
- 14:05wins are great, but when you got a sweat, you know your your bet
- 14:08hangs in the balance. You think you're going to lose,
- 14:10then win and go back and forth. Those are actually some of the
- 14:12most rewarding games to ever sweat.
- 14:14It's all about the literally the sweat when it comes to rooting
- 14:17for for your bet. But anyway.
- 14:19Portland better free throw. Shooting could be big in a tight
- 14:22game, 78% from the line versus only 71% for Pepperdine.
- 14:27Now Portland, not the greatest home team in the world, but they
- 14:30are 8 and seven at home. Pepperdine has been really bad
- 14:33on the road, 2 and 10 on the road.
- 14:34So let's hope that we can fade the dine here on the road.
- 14:38Our friends at Rhythm. Have Portland -2.6, so not quite
- 14:43the 3 1/2, but again, money line.
- 14:45All we care about is winning by one or more.
- 14:47So last bite of the night for me.
- 14:49Portland. Let's go pilots -170.
- 14:52So SIU Edwardsville. New Mexico State in Portland 3
- 14:55money line place tonight. Let's try to go 2 and one and
- 14:58continue our little little win streak here.
- 15:01So that about does it for episode 226.
- 15:03Of the ASG pod. Powered by rhythm.
- 15:06This is the part of the pod where we wrap things up, and I
- 15:07start first by saying thank you. Thank you for taking the time
- 15:10out of your day, out of your busy lives to devote 30 minutes
- 15:13or so to some sharp, contrarian, data-driven breakdowns.
- 15:16Means a ton to me that we've created this community.
- 15:19And again, we ain't betting games based on bias or I think
- 15:21or want or hope this will happen.
- 15:23No, we're making data-driven bets based on what the numbers
- 15:26in the market are telling us, not what we think or feel or
- 15:29want or hope will happen. But anyway, if you do enjoy the
- 15:32pod, could you? Help me to grow the pod.
- 15:34By doing a very simple, easy thing.

- 15:56And if you want to recommend the pod to a friend, that's always
- 15:59great. Word of mouth, of course.

- 16:07or maybe you have. Someone in your life?
- 16:08Who could, who could use some of these tenets of monitoring the
- 16:12market and bankroll management and all the things that we
- 16:14talked? About maybe you got.
- 16:15That friend that always lays the 2 1/2 and you'll never money
- 16:19lines and complaints when they only win by two.

- 19:00desert, where the true grinders get down, where Billy Walter
- 19:02sends his number runners, where the lowest juice possible is
- 19:05found at the South Point. Or sweat and sharp contrarian
- 19:07plays jumping in the stadium swimming pool.

- 19:28The results don't matter, although we're human and we
- 19:31can't help. But again, when you're hot, you
- 19:32want to get excited to go jump right back in the market,
- 19:35hopefully have another winning day.
- 19:36When you're cold, you want to fight back, even though you feel
- 19:39like you know your brakes aren't going your way.
- 19:42But as always, that's the daily grind of a sports better.
- 19:44Stack another winning day when you're hot, rebound and stack a
- 19:47winning day when you're cold. Continue to grind as always,
- 19:50never give up, never get too high, never get too low.
- 19:53And if we can do that, if we can be against the public, with the
- 19:56house, with the pros, flat bet. Avoid parlays.
- 19:59Get that? Closing line value.
- 20:01If we can make smart beds with our bats, with our head and not
- 20:04our heart, guess what? We're going to be successful
- 20:06sports betters long term. So enjoy.
