- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you. Always.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to Scream 2! Scream 2! I'm sorry,
- 0:26Speaker 2: I've been thinking about doing that all day. Hello and
- 0:28Speaker 2: welcome back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
- 0:32Speaker 2: I am here with my host, Katie. And of course,
- 0:37Speaker 2: I am Clay. How are you doing today, Katie? How
- 0:39Speaker 2: are you doing today?
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm doing pretty good. We had some bug going around
- 0:43Speaker 1: the house. And so the two days that I thought
- 0:47Speaker 1: I was going to have off, I instead recovered.
- 0:50Speaker 2: That sucks. I have had... A day. We'll call it that.
- 0:56Speaker 2: We'll call it that. The highlight of my day was
- 1:01Speaker 2: making this thumbnail that is on today's episode. My goodness, guys. Well,
- 1:09Speaker 2: of course, our main topic today is going to be,
- 1:11Speaker 2: of course, our Galactic Racer review. The best Glob Shido
- 1:18Speaker 2: of all time, apparently, has shown up. in this game
- 1:24Speaker 2: and has taken the internet by storm. And we will
- 1:27Speaker 2: talk about that when we get down to the review.
- 1:31Speaker 2: But we actually do have a pretty good chunk of
- 1:34Speaker 2: news and some rumors to talk about today. So, Katie,
- 1:41Speaker 2: where do you want to start when it comes to
- 1:44Speaker 2: some of the stuff that we found out at New
- 1:46Speaker 2: York Comic Con?
- 1:47Speaker 1: All right, so... The New York Comic Con news, guys.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It was, of course, really only a publishing news endeavor.
- 1:59Speaker 1: So we've got comic news. We've got book news. So
- 2:03Speaker 1: lots of cool things involved. And I'm actually going to
- 2:06Speaker 1: go ahead and start sharing my screen. That way I
- 2:09Speaker 1: can have it ready to go. Oh, it says share
- 2:12Speaker 1: with audio. I don't want to share with audio. But okay, whatever. Okay.
- 2:20Speaker 1: We're going to mute it.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I was going to say, as long as there's no
- 2:22Speaker 2: like hidden advertisements that just start blaring, you know? Yeah. Okay.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So the first thing we have is our book three
- 2:33Speaker 1: cover for reign of the empire from the ashes by
- 2:37Speaker 1: Fran wild. And now reminder, Fran has only written a
- 2:42Speaker 1: short story for star Wars so far. So this is
- 2:44Speaker 1: her first like full fledged novel experience. One of the
- 2:47Speaker 1: questions that you and I had clay was, While we
- 2:50Speaker 1: were reviewing book two.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Was.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Like when does book three take place? And I pitched.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Okay does it take place. During the creation of Reign
- 3:03Speaker 1: of the Empire. Or of the New Republic. Not Reign
- 3:06Speaker 1: of the Empire. And I think this cover image. That
- 3:11Speaker 1: we get. Proves that it does not. We've got Mon Mothma.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Bail Organa. And Leia Organa. on Yavin with X-Wings in
- 3:21Speaker 1: the background, the Yavin temples. So very clearly still sticking
- 3:26Speaker 1: into that Empire timeframe. So, but it might be a
- 3:32Speaker 1: little bit in between. Hello, Adrian.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Now this is pod racing. I, I have not wanted
- 3:41Speaker 3: to go out and find pod racing merchandise.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Like I, Like I have this week, by the way.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I was so close to go hunting for Anakin's helmet.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I was, like, this close to, like, ask everybody I know, like, hey,
- 4:01Speaker 2: can I just borrow it for the show just for
- 4:03Speaker 2: a little bit? But, yeah, we will be talking about
- 4:08Speaker 2: Galactic Racer 100%. But, yeah, no, going back to this
- 4:12Speaker 2: book cover, I... don't exactly know what I was expecting.
- 4:21Speaker 2: This does make a little bit more sense. With the
- 4:27Speaker 2: way our second book ended, well, let's just look at
- 4:33Speaker 2: it this way. The way that our book started, comparatively
- 4:38Speaker 2: to where book one was, there was a time gap.
- 4:42Speaker 2: There was a pretty significant time gap because of the
- 4:47Speaker 2: birth of Mon Mothma's child. Right. And all of that. Now,
- 4:56Speaker 2: looking at Leia in this cover, or on this cover,
- 5:00Speaker 2: excuse me, I think that this is a direct continuation
- 5:09Speaker 2: from book two.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Right, but Yavin doesn't become a base until... Like, literally
- 5:16Speaker 1: right before.
- 5:16Speaker 2: A New Hope. Oh, you're right. You're right. Now, it
- 5:22Speaker 2: could tease, you know, because that's one thing that, like,
- 5:28Speaker 2: is a small little pet peeve of mine when it
- 5:29Speaker 2: comes to comic books. And just recently, talking about New
- 5:34Speaker 2: York Comic Con, the new editor-in-chief actually stated that he
- 5:40Speaker 2: was going to be more intentional, like the company of
- 5:43Speaker 2: Marvel Comics said, was gonna be more intentional with covers.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Because one of my big things is when you buy
- 5:49Speaker 2: a cover, especially with a book or a comic, you're like, oh,
- 5:53Speaker 2: this person is on there or this is going on
- 5:56Speaker 2: on this cover. That must be happening in the book.
- 5:58Speaker 2: When it doesn't, it's very misleading. And I don't think
- 6:02Speaker 2: it's cool. This, I think with Star Wars in particular,
- 6:07Speaker 2: I think they can get away with a little bit
- 6:09Speaker 2: more because there's an entire franchise already created behind it, right? Yeah.
- 6:15Speaker 2: So I think that you could very much foreshadow Yavin
- 6:20Speaker 2: with some of the events that are already taking place
- 6:22Speaker 2: within the book. But if Yavin is being created, maybe
- 6:30Speaker 2: we are getting all the way up to, and of course,
- 6:40Speaker 2: spoilers for a now almost 50 year old movie. Um,
- 6:45Speaker 2: maybe from the ashes happens literally until the very last
- 6:52Speaker 2: page of Alderaan being exploded.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Well, we already got Bria's perspective on that. So really
- 7:02Speaker 1: the only one to add is Bale's.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Which has been a more prominent voice within this series. Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I'll have to go back to, from a certain point
- 7:13Speaker 1: of view, and see but I also feel like we
- 7:16Speaker 1: have Bale's perspective of what was going on whether that
- 7:20Speaker 1: be in from a certain point of view I know
- 7:23Speaker 1: we have Bria's I don't remember if we have Bale's and.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I say up to the point like I genuinely think
- 7:32Speaker 2: that it would be okay for like the epilogue to
- 7:36Speaker 2: be essentially the intro to A New Hope like you
- 7:44Speaker 2: know Like, and I say intro, but like, if it
- 7:47Speaker 2: took that one scene of Leia and Tarkin and the
- 7:54Speaker 2: destruction of Alderaan as the epilogue, or somewhere in there.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But let's get into this next one. Okay, so Claudia
- 8:03Speaker 1: Gray is returning to Star Wars. She is going to
- 8:06Speaker 1: be writing a young adult novel from Delacorte Press. Once again,
- 8:09Speaker 1: a Random House Worlds. A Random House... book publisher um
- 8:17Speaker 1: and it's entitled princess of the rebellion and this book
- 8:21Speaker 1: is going to be releasing uh may 4th 2027 uh
- 8:26Speaker 1: and it takes place right after a new hope so
- 8:30Speaker 1: are we literally here's my question for you are we
- 8:33Speaker 1: literally just gonna follow a new hope word by word
- 8:39Speaker 1: in this where we're literally getting like okay you have
- 8:42Speaker 1: a new hope here And now you have Leia, Princess
- 8:46Speaker 1: of Alderaan, but right before that, you had all of
- 8:48Speaker 1: the perspectives necessary for that. Like, I feel like Leia
- 8:54Speaker 1: in this cover still looks younger than 19 years old,
- 8:58Speaker 1: but not old enough to be like a direct sequel
- 9:04Speaker 1: to book two, which is.
- 9:06Speaker 2: That is true. That is, that is true.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I can't find the title on my, this is the
- 9:17Speaker 1: downside of taking all my, uh, book jackets office. I
- 9:23Speaker 1: can't see.
- 9:24Speaker 2: That is true. I don't know.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So that's, that's my thought process, especially because of just
- 9:35Speaker 1: where we're at. Like, and I said earlier that Yavin
- 9:38Speaker 1: didn't become the rebel base until right before. They were
- 9:42Speaker 1: there for two or three years because we had two
- 9:44Speaker 1: arcs of Andor, Cassian Andor there.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Correct me if I'm wrong, that also kind of took
- 9:55Speaker 2: place in.
- 9:57Speaker 1: the.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Leia book. I think the one that you just mentioned.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Princess of Alderaan.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Princess of Alderaan, or Princess of the Rebellion, I'm sorry,
- 10:11Speaker 1: is the one that I meant to say. Princess of Alderaan,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you're right, is when she's about 16 years old.
- 10:18Speaker 2: So Because from what I remember in that book, the
- 10:23Speaker 2: whole premise behind that is that she is, like, getting
- 10:29Speaker 2: her toes wet in this whole, like, rebellion world. And that, like,
- 10:36Speaker 2: love interest, you know, had almost found the base. And
- 10:42Speaker 2: so that was why they had to move. Yeah. So
- 10:47Speaker 2: it does technically happen around that time. So... Oh, like...
- 10:53Speaker 2: I guess this is kind of weaving through that, even? Probably?
- 10:57Speaker 1: That's my problem with this, is... Yes, A New Hope
- 11:00Speaker 1: is celebrating 50 years next year. But we are playing
- 11:04Speaker 1: literally so close with fire right here that we are
- 11:07Speaker 1: risking crossing the time streams, people. So....
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Well, and it's so funny that we got this news
- 11:20Speaker 2: and we're talking about this literally right after we have
- 11:23Speaker 2: this conversation of where should like there's there's only so
- 11:28Speaker 2: much room that you can squeeze and so much. There's
- 11:32Speaker 2: only so much space that you can move. Like even
- 11:35Speaker 2: a bookshelf is a perfect example of that. Especially with
- 11:41Speaker 2: timeline stuff. When I had my own little thing all
- 11:46Speaker 2: set up with timeline books, and especially you, you have
- 11:51Speaker 2: to move and shift an entire shelf in order to
- 11:57Speaker 2: finally slip something in, right? And then there's sometimes where, like, oh,
- 12:01Speaker 2: this fits perfectly. I can just move these two books,
- 12:04Speaker 2: put it right there, and it works perfectly. There's only
- 12:07Speaker 2: so many times you're able to do that.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And I know that Dave Filoni especially has liked to
- 12:14Speaker 1: play with, like, Amandaverse, for instance, and say, well, all
- 12:17Speaker 1: this takes place in 11 ABY, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But, like, really? Like,
- 12:26Speaker 1: I wish we knew how long a year was in
- 12:29Speaker 1: Star Wars history. Because that would give us an idea. Like,
- 12:33Speaker 1: if a year in Star Wars is 24 months, okay, well,
- 12:36Speaker 1: then that makes a little bit more sense.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Like, we can manage this. But, like.
- 12:45Speaker 2: You know, I've always questioned that also. And I guess
- 12:50Speaker 2: you historians of the Star Wars nerdom can help me
- 12:54Speaker 2: out here. I would think that when... now again, I
- 13:00Speaker 2: understand we're working on a universe scale of galaxy scale.
- 13:04Speaker 2: So somebody has to create a universal timeline, but I'm
- 13:14Speaker 2: thinking interstellar rules like planets, like there's time that doesn't
- 13:19Speaker 2: work exactly the same on every planet days on one
- 13:25Speaker 2: planet can mean months on another, like, Like, how does
- 13:29Speaker 2: it all make sense? That's always something that I've questioned. So, like,
- 13:35Speaker 2: asking the question how many days are in a month
- 13:38Speaker 2: and how many months are in a year in the
- 13:40Speaker 2: Star Wars universe, that could get very complicated very, very quickly. Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And Wikipedia, for everybody listening, the Wikipedia has the standard
- 13:52Speaker 1: year listed as as 365 to 368 days and like
- 14:02Speaker 1: everything's basically the same as our system so um but
- 14:07Speaker 1: lucasfilm has not necessarily established that so okay the it's
- 14:14Speaker 1: basically saying wikipedia has made the assumption that this.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Is ah okay okay that makes sense that makes sense
- 14:22Speaker 2: yeah um What other, uh, so that's not the only, uh,
- 14:29Speaker 2: book news that we got.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That's correct. Um, so I'm not going to share at
- 14:33Speaker 1: this point until I get to another, um, piece, but, um,
- 14:39Speaker 1: the star Wars, a new hope manga, which, um, we
- 14:44Speaker 1: had discussed previously is being released. It's like the original manga, um,
- 14:51Speaker 1: that was going to be released in a special edition.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It looks like now that they're actually releasing it in
- 14:55Speaker 1: a standard format, uh, that's not special edition. So people
- 14:58Speaker 1: can pick that up. Um, don't forget mad cave studios
- 15:02Speaker 1: is doing a triple take, which is the retelling, uh,
- 15:07Speaker 1: from a certain point of view during a new hope. Um,
- 15:10Speaker 1: we also have the previously mentioned, uh, celebrating 50 years
- 15:15Speaker 1: of a new hope by Kristen favor. Um, the Star
- 15:21Speaker 1: Wars storyboards from the original trilogy, 50th anniversary edition. That's
- 15:25Speaker 1: from Abrams Publishing. And it's all the collections of storyboards
- 15:31Speaker 1: from the original trilogy films that have been compiled into
- 15:34Speaker 1: the special 50th anniversary edition. Star Wars A Celebration, which
- 15:42Speaker 1: was announced at San Diego Comic-Con, they did a couple
- 15:44Speaker 1: more things about that book that is coming out soon.
- 15:52Speaker 1: The A New Hope shooting script is actually going to
- 15:57Speaker 1: be released by Insight Editions.
- 15:59Speaker 2: This one looks pretty cool.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I'm going to pick this up.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It is a coffee table read for sure. But the
- 16:10Speaker 2: art on it looks absolutely amazing. So that might be
- 16:14Speaker 2: something that I am looking into. Not sure if I'm
- 16:19Speaker 2: going to pull the trigger just yet.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah, which makes sense. Clayton Sandel is also releasing another
- 16:27Speaker 1: book in his collection of the Star Wars films. He
- 16:31Speaker 1: has been doing a visual archive. He did Phantom Menace.
- 16:35Speaker 1: He did Return of the Jedi. Now he's doing A
- 16:37Speaker 1: New Hope. There is going to be an official Funko
- 16:41Speaker 1: Pop A New Hope coloring book. And then this was
- 16:46Speaker 1: the interesting thing to me in this announcement today. And
- 16:50Speaker 1: you had a couple of questions about this when I
- 16:52Speaker 1: sent it to you. But Delilah S. Dawson is returning
- 16:57Speaker 1: to Star Wars to write the Star Wars Starfighter expanded novelization.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And Starfighter will receive a full publishing initiative, including a
- 17:10Speaker 1: color book, the expanded novelization, a few little golden books,
- 17:17Speaker 1: including Star Wars Starfighter Rumble with the Rock Pirates, a
- 17:20Speaker 1: tie-in middle grade book, and young adult books. So those,
- 17:25Speaker 1: it's not really clear which one's the middle grade. I'm
- 17:28Speaker 1: barely certain there's one middle grade and then two young
- 17:31Speaker 1: adult books. So I would think that Star Wars Starfighter
- 17:35Speaker 1: Outer Rim Outcasts is the middle grade book. Then we
- 17:40Speaker 1: have Star Wars Starfighter Risk and Reward and Star Wars
- 17:44Speaker 1: Starfighter Rock Pirate Adventures. And I'm making that assumption just
- 17:47Speaker 1: based on how it was listed in the sentence. There's
- 17:51Speaker 1: no covers for those. No authors really announced. So there's
- 17:58Speaker 1: at least three books there. A Star Wars Starfighter Jr.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Novel.
- 18:03Speaker 1: And then Marvel Comics will also be releasing a prequel
- 18:08Speaker 1: miniseries written by Mark Guggenheim. Star Wars Starfighter The Rock
- 18:14Speaker 1: Pirate of Canaan. So let's talk about it.
- 18:25Speaker 2: There's a lot. My thing for you, when you shared
- 18:30Speaker 2: it with me, I was like, holy crap, all of
- 18:32Speaker 2: this for Starfighter. Why put all eggs in one basket?
- 18:36Speaker 2: And I was reminded, I think from you, that this
- 18:45Speaker 2: was also something that they did for the sequel trilogy.
- 18:51Speaker 2: It wasn't necessarily like one in particular thing, but, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 2: they again, put all, you know, their initiative towards their movies.
- 19:02Speaker 2: And so I think this now having some time to
- 19:07Speaker 2: sit on it is really just a like, Hey, we're back,
- 19:13Speaker 2: you know, type of initiative, like really pushing full steam ahead. Uh,
- 19:20Speaker 2: and whether that be a, like, Hey, let's just hope
- 19:25Speaker 2: we get as much money as possible through all of
- 19:27Speaker 2: this to, you know, kind of, uh, uh, what's the
- 19:33Speaker 2: right word I'm looking for to, uh, convince, uh, producers
- 19:39Speaker 2: and studio heads to make a sequel whether that be
- 19:42Speaker 2: whatever I think that it is a good idea because
- 19:48Speaker 2: again one thing that we've always Talked about when it
- 19:51Speaker 2: comes to Things like books like comics Like movies is
- 20:00Speaker 2: Every single one could be somebody's First And it could
- 20:04Speaker 2: get somebody hooked and that's That's how everybody Really in
- 20:09Speaker 2: the business kind of looks at it um so yeah
- 20:13Speaker 2: i'm down for this now depending on how these catch
- 20:18Speaker 2: my eye once we get more things like uh actual
- 20:22Speaker 2: details of the book or uh cover art and things
- 20:25Speaker 2: like that um i'll be more convinced of like hey
- 20:28Speaker 2: i'll get that for amberlynn or like hey you know
- 20:31Speaker 2: let's really shoot for trying to get these books onto
- 20:34Speaker 2: the podcast and things like that um But yeah, I'm
- 20:38Speaker 2: all for it. I really am. We will see more.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I'm really excited because, of course, I fell in love
- 20:45Speaker 2: with Delilah Dawson on Red Blade. So I'm really, really
- 20:50Speaker 2: looking forward to her novelization of the movie to see
- 20:57Speaker 2: what is added and what she kind of puts a
- 21:00Speaker 2: spin on it. I know that she has done some... her,
- 21:05Speaker 2: her normal thing is kind of like the, uh, horror
- 21:10Speaker 2: dread type of genre, uh, for, for novels. So I'm,
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm interested to see how that all plays a part
- 21:18Speaker 2: in her rendition of the, of the movie. Yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 1: When she jumped, um, when she jumped into, uh, the
- 21:29Speaker 1: Mad Cave publishing for Mando and Brogu. I kind of
- 21:33Speaker 1: honestly thought that this was coming, like that they were
- 21:36Speaker 1: kind of like trial running her to see, oh, how
- 21:38Speaker 1: do you do with like a movie tie-in situation? I
- 21:43Speaker 1: just know, and I have talked a lot about giving
- 21:49Speaker 1: other people an opportunity to get involved in Star Wars
- 21:54Speaker 1: comics in particular, because like, they've had the same person
- 21:59Speaker 1: do the movie adaptations for the comics. And I'm like, okay,
- 22:04Speaker 1: a novelization or a comic adaptation is the perfect time
- 22:09Speaker 1: to get somebody introduced into the universe and go, okay,
- 22:14Speaker 1: this is the script you're working with. Make something out
- 22:17Speaker 1: of it. You're giving them very strict guidelines to go
- 22:19Speaker 1: upon with it. So to me, that makes a ton
- 22:23Speaker 1: of sense to do. However, I love Delilah S Dawson's writing.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I wish it were somebody brand new to Star Wars.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I'm happy she's getting back into it, but I think
- 22:36Speaker 1: this is the perfect audition setting.
- 22:38Speaker 2: It literally reminded me of something that we heavily wanted
- 22:43Speaker 2: in phase two of High Republic. Lucasfilm Publishing, Marvel, literally
- 22:55Speaker 2: Disney books whoever is hearing my voice right now why
- 23:01Speaker 2: is Lydia Kang not on speed dial thank you literally
- 23:07Speaker 2: just reminded me of how much we wanted to see
- 23:10Speaker 2: Lydia Kang again and we have not yet seen her
- 23:14Speaker 2: return to Star Wars so I'm hoping she's still in
- 23:18Speaker 2: somebody's back pocket when it comes to Star Wars But yeah,
- 23:22Speaker 2: really looking forward to Dilata.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And I know that a lot of times editors and
- 23:30Speaker 1: publishers are like, well, we need to make sure that
- 23:32Speaker 1: a book fits a person's perspective on how they're going
- 23:36Speaker 1: to write it. I get that. It's just my personal opinion.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Who are you? So not necessarily the middle grade, but
- 23:47Speaker 1: the YA books.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Who are you?
- 23:49Speaker 1: Like of what we've seen so far, knowing that Delilah
- 23:53Speaker 1: got the novelization, who are you hoping for, for those
- 23:57Speaker 1: two young adult books?
- 23:59Speaker 2: So I think, and I think this is only going
- 24:04Speaker 2: to persuade me more because we, we still need, I
- 24:08Speaker 2: still need to read it. The, the legends book that
- 24:13Speaker 2: we're going to be reading this month. But George Mann,
- 24:16Speaker 2: George Mann, I think he has been, a really good voice, uh,
- 24:23Speaker 2: for star Wars publishing. Um, I think he is a
- 24:26Speaker 2: very strong lead. Um, depending on how they want to
- 24:31Speaker 2: take it. We've seen George man do like horror. We've
- 24:34Speaker 2: seen him kind of on the silly side. Uh, we've
- 24:38Speaker 2: seen him take things very, very seriously. I think he
- 24:42Speaker 2: is a Jack of all trades, uh, right now in
- 24:44Speaker 2: star Wars publishing. Uh, For a second individual, I would
- 24:55Speaker 2: have to say... Oh, oh, oh. Oh my gosh. Legacy.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Come on, you can do it.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Who?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Star Wars Legacy.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Madeline Rowe.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. Um, I think seeing how that turned out, like,
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think that giving her more opportunities in different reading
- 25:30Speaker 2: levels can really broaden how she can tell a storytelling. Um,
- 25:36Speaker 2: and so I think that would be a really fun
- 25:38Speaker 2: one as well.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I agree with both of those.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I do.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I am hoping that Madeline or Madeline, um, Ro comes
- 25:48Speaker 1: back for an adult book at some point, just because
- 25:53Speaker 1: I think her writing style definitely fits that adult genre
- 25:56Speaker 1: versus a young adult. Now, granted, I haven't read anything.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't know if she's written young adult before. We
- 26:02Speaker 1: just have read that Star Wars Legacy book of hers.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So that's what I'm hoping for. Phil Zozak is returning
- 26:13Speaker 1: to write the art of Star Wars Starfighter. And Pablo
- 26:18Speaker 1: Hidalgo with DK Publishing is going to be writing the
- 26:22Speaker 1: Star Wars Starfighter visual dictionary, which is going to be
- 26:26Speaker 1: out May 28th, 2027. The Starfighter novelization, I believe, is
- 26:33Speaker 1: supposed to be coming out late June. It is actually
- 26:36Speaker 1: not in this description yet. on StarWars.com but I believe
- 26:40Speaker 1: somebody had it listed as June 2027 late June because
- 26:46Speaker 1: and that has that followed what the sequel trilogy novelizations
- 26:52Speaker 1: schedule kind of was it was about a month to
- 26:55Speaker 1: two months after the movie came out so yeah we
- 27:00Speaker 1: might get the novelization before we get to see the movie.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I don't know how I feel about that.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I, yeah, because they might have an embargo on it
- 27:15Speaker 1: with it being a movie. I don't remember when we
- 27:18Speaker 1: got the sequel trilogy novelizations because you weren't getting them
- 27:22Speaker 1: at that point. No. So I don't remember.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Like for me, like it would feel kind of meta
- 27:30Speaker 2: for me to be going into a brand new movie
- 27:33Speaker 2: knowing so much information.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I probably would not read it before the movie
- 27:39Speaker 1: came out.
- 27:40Speaker 2: And on a completely different level than, like, of course, like,
- 27:44Speaker 2: me and the GUA guys, especially with the Geekverse guys, like,
- 27:48Speaker 2: we are always just being fed information on, like, behind
- 27:53Speaker 2: the scenes stuff. And so, like, we know a lot
- 27:56Speaker 2: of stuff going into a movie, but not at that detail,
- 28:00Speaker 2: you know, as a novelization. So I would feel kind
- 28:04Speaker 2: of like, oh, I don't know. So we'll see. We'll see.
- 28:09Speaker 2: There was some other small things.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Well, you remember when we talked about Revenge of the Sith,
- 28:13Speaker 1: that the novelizations for Revenge of the Sith actually came
- 28:16Speaker 1: out first.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That should be super funny. I doubt that Star Wars
- 28:23Speaker 1: Lucasfilm is going to let that come out.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I don't think it would.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I was going.
- 28:28Speaker 2: To say, I don't think so, just because of how
- 28:31Speaker 2: much they are really riding on the success of Star Wars. Yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 2: for sure.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, so the next announcement, the Dungeons &
- 28:41Speaker 1: Dragons Maker Wizards of the Coast has revealed a first
- 28:45Speaker 1: look at concept art and cover for the forthcoming Star
- 28:48Speaker 1: Wars Season of Rebellion tabletop role-playing game arriving next year,
- 28:53Speaker 1: which is entitled Star Wars Tyro Squadron's Adventures.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I am so excited for this because technically... there is
- 29:04Speaker 2: already a made four Star Wars tabletop game, that role-playing game,
- 29:16Speaker 2: that they have stats for ships, they have stats for
- 29:20Speaker 2: land speeders, they have stats for literally anything and everything
- 29:23Speaker 2: that you can think of. They have stats for it.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But the popularity of traditional Dungeons & Dragons is, has
- 29:32Speaker 2: immensely evolved ever since the release of Stranger Things. And
- 29:36Speaker 2: because of that, there's so many people that have adapted
- 29:40Speaker 2: Dungeons & Dragons to just fit their Star Wars narrative. Now,
- 29:46Speaker 2: Dungeons & Dragons specifically created these to fit the 5e
- 29:53Speaker 2: format of Dungeons & Dragons. So... I'm really excited to
- 29:57Speaker 2: get my hands on this. This is something that I
- 29:59Speaker 2: will for sure be getting. I have stacks of D
- 30:04Speaker 2: & D books literally across the room right now. I
- 30:09Speaker 2: have traditional D & D. I have superhero D & D.
- 30:15Speaker 2: I have literally anything and everything almost. when it comes
- 30:20Speaker 2: to dnd i i have it here uh and it's
- 30:23Speaker 2: coming out at a really great time because uh marvel
- 30:28Speaker 2: marvel had just uh done their specific tabletop game themselves
- 30:34Speaker 2: uh dc is currently kickstarting one right now and so
- 30:38Speaker 2: like the three biggest franchises uh in ip history are
- 30:43Speaker 2: kind of All coming out with D & D stuff.
- 30:47Speaker 2: And it's just a really fun time to be a
- 30:49Speaker 2: nerd right now.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Really fun time to be a nerd. Heck yes. So
- 30:55Speaker 1: that comes out at some point next year. The last
- 30:59Speaker 1: bit of news that we have. Star Wars Ahsoka. Escape
- 31:06Speaker 1: from Thrawn. Which is not on the cover. It was released.
- 31:10Speaker 2: We need to point that out.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Because this.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I facepalmed myself so hard when Katie sent me this
- 31:19Speaker 2: I am excited to read it but super frustrated at
- 31:23Speaker 2: the creation of this comic.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Because so okay so this was actually revealed earlier in
- 31:33Speaker 1: the week but so this is written by Dave Filoni
- 31:43Speaker 1: alongside Rodney Barnes, a.k.a. Dave Filoni said, here's the idea,
- 31:48Speaker 1: now go adapt it. Because Rodney Barnes has written the
- 31:52Speaker 1: adaptations for The Mandalorian, and I believe he did the
- 31:55Speaker 1: Ahsoka adaptation as well. The art is by Andrea DeVito,
- 32:02Speaker 1: with the cover by our beloved Phil Noto. But this
- 32:08Speaker 1: five-issue story... And I keep saying, uh, guys, because I
- 32:13Speaker 1: can't believe that this is a story that needs to
- 32:16Speaker 1: be told. But it entails the story of how Ezra
- 32:22Speaker 1: Bridger evades Grand Admiral Thrawn during his covert escape from
- 32:27Speaker 1: Paridia at the end of season one. Basically, how does
- 32:32Speaker 1: he get from Thrawn's Star Destroyer, the Chimera, to Hera?
- 32:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:40Speaker 1: At the end of Ahsoka and kind of the epilogue stuff.
- 32:43Speaker 1: When I read this the first time, I thought, this
- 32:47Speaker 1: is what I thought. I was like, hey, this is
- 32:51Speaker 1: the story of how Ezra gets off the Chimera when
- 32:55Speaker 1: they get to Paridia. That's actually a story that I
- 32:59Speaker 1: think I would enjoy being told. Because we're getting to
- 33:03Speaker 1: experience Paridia and all these different things. We get the
- 33:07Speaker 1: introduction of the new Nightsisters. Like, that is an interesting story.
- 33:14Speaker 1: I don't need the three-hour tale told in five comics
- 33:18Speaker 1: about how he got off the Star Destroyer. We saw
- 33:24Speaker 1: that at the end of Ahsoka.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I'm frustrated with this because, for one.
- 33:36Speaker 2: They showed him getting off, but then they just showed him, like,
- 33:42Speaker 2: being there with Hera. I'm sure this comic is going
- 33:44Speaker 2: to give us the in-between, for sure.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Probably some deleted scenes.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 33:49Speaker 1: From the series.
- 33:50Speaker 2: And in my mind, I'm just like, why couldn't you
- 33:52Speaker 2: just release that in the actual show? You know, for one.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Because, yeah, so the summary is, witness the unseen story
- 34:01Speaker 1: of Ezra Bridger's daring flight from Peridia. Ezra narrowly escaped
- 34:05Speaker 1: his exile beyond the known galaxy by stowing away aboard
- 34:08Speaker 1: Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship. But his fight to return home
- 34:13Speaker 1: is far from over. A, where is the mention of
- 34:16Speaker 1: Ahsoka and Sabine in here? Because he didn't do it
- 34:21Speaker 1: on his own. And this makes it feel like even
- 34:24Speaker 1: though this is Star Wars Ahsoka escape from Thrawn, this
- 34:28Speaker 1: is like, oh, Ezra did it all by himself. and
- 34:30Speaker 1: were negating everybody else who was involved in getting him
- 34:33Speaker 1: off of Peridia.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Haunted across hyperspace with nowhere to hide, the rebel hero
- 34:39Speaker 1: must now evade Captain Enoch, counter the dark magic of
- 34:42Speaker 1: the Nightsisters, and outwit the Empire's greatest strategist if he
- 34:46Speaker 1: hopes to make it off the Chimera alive. Why would
- 34:50Speaker 1: he be hunted across hyperspace when he's on the Chimera?
- 34:57Speaker 1: This sounds like AI rode the submarines. is what I'm
- 35:00Speaker 1: telling you.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Oh, this isn't the only thing having to deal with AI,
- 35:05Speaker 2: by the way. And this is not having to deal
- 35:06Speaker 2: with AI, but just the idea of reading this is
- 35:10Speaker 2: just like, guys, what are we doing, right? Yeah, I
- 35:16Speaker 2: think it's very silly. This is almost pure definition of
- 35:21Speaker 2: money grab, of just like, hey, for those people who
- 35:26Speaker 2: literally just pick up anything Star Wars... We want a
- 35:30Speaker 2: little bit more extra money from you. So here is
- 35:33Speaker 2: another five issue series that, you know, you could go without,
- 35:39Speaker 2: but also we just want to make more money.
- 35:42Speaker 1: And I love Ezra. I love Ezra. I want more
- 35:45Speaker 1: Ezra stories, but that is why I believe that we
- 35:48Speaker 1: should be telling the, okay, they got to Peridia. What
- 35:53Speaker 1: the heck happened? The problem is, is Dave Filoni doesn't
- 35:57Speaker 1: want anybody else to tell that story and has probably
- 35:59Speaker 1: got a way to weave it in somehow in his
- 36:02Speaker 1: grand master plan of the Star Wars galaxy.
- 36:04Speaker 2: He's like, oh, well, you know, in about 25 years,
- 36:08Speaker 2: we'll finally be at this time where I can start
- 36:12Speaker 2: putting in pockets of stories in this part of the timeline.
- 36:16Speaker 2: So that's where that story is going to go. Just
- 36:20Speaker 2: you wait. That, like.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It frustrates the ever-loving crap.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It's super frustrating.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Because this is not smart storytelling. And this is the
- 36:32Speaker 1: other kicker, I think. So this comic releases January 20th,
- 36:38Speaker 1: the same day that Ahsoka Season 2 premieres. If you
- 36:42Speaker 1: really wanted to tell this story and not just have
- 36:46Speaker 1: it be a money grab, this would have come out
- 36:48Speaker 1: and been all done. The trade would be for publish it.
- 36:53Speaker 1: january 20th so that people who could read the whole
- 36:57Speaker 1: story before the show premieres you can grab it then
- 37:01Speaker 1: yeah but no you're saying that that this story is
- 37:07Speaker 1: not that necessary to be told because it's not coming
- 37:11Speaker 1: out until january 20th the day that a sofa.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Season two premieres yeah it's it's.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I don't get it.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Um, well, okay.
- 37:27Speaker 1: We do get it. We said what it is. It's
- 37:29Speaker 1: a money grab. Um, will I still probably grab the
- 37:33Speaker 1: trade for this? Sure. I love Ezra, but I'm not
- 37:38Speaker 1: renewed month to month.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah. No, this, this is for sure. So this, this
- 37:44Speaker 2: will for sure be a wait for the trade, uh,
- 37:48Speaker 2: for sure. Type of situation. Um, And it'll definitely be
- 37:53Speaker 2: a later release on our reading schedule. But speaking of comics, Katie,
- 38:05Speaker 2: I shared some wild news with you the other day
- 38:08Speaker 2: about Marvel and Star Wars. Of course, we know that
- 38:13Speaker 2: the crossover is happening. Initially... Announced with five issues. It
- 38:20Speaker 2: has been updated. And now we'll have a sixth issue.
- 38:26Speaker 2: So it is a sixth issue miniseries.
- 38:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:30Speaker 2: But the crazy thing. About this.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Is.
- 38:38Speaker 2: The Marvel Star Wars crossover. Is officially. A. In canon
- 38:47Speaker 2: event within Marvel's universe.
- 38:52Speaker 1: I hate this. As long as it's not canon to
- 38:57Speaker 1: Star Wars.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I have no idea if they have confirmed if it's
- 39:01Speaker 2: canon to Star Wars, but apparently what this is, is
- 39:08Speaker 2: due to a reality shattering spell. It says here, the
- 39:17Speaker 2: miniseries will see the events of A New Hope brought
- 39:20Speaker 2: to the Marvel Universe via a reality-shattering spell, but still
- 39:27Speaker 2: no mention as to the specifics to that. Our teases
- 39:33Speaker 2: include a mashup of Chewie and Jeff the Shark, Vader
- 39:36Speaker 2: taking over Asgard, Magneto holding back the Death Star, and
- 39:41Speaker 2: Spider-Man searching for Luke Skywalker in New Jersey. So... We'll see.
- 39:51Speaker 2: The fact that this is going to be canon to
- 39:59Speaker 2: the Marvel Universe, because that was one thing to me.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Star Wars, again, guys, we've mentioned it now three times,
- 40:08Speaker 2: 50 years old. Marvel has been around for... 85, almost
- 40:22Speaker 2: 90 years. So just 30 years prior to Star Wars.
- 40:29Speaker 2: These IPs are iconic and legend to a point of
- 40:36Speaker 2: being referenced within each other. So there has been several
- 40:44Speaker 2: issues throughout the 95 years or 90 years of Marvel.
- 40:49Speaker 2: You could probably find, at minimum, 20 references to the
- 40:55Speaker 2: movie Star Wars.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Which I think it makes sense for Marvel. Because you've
- 41:04Speaker 1: already had those mentions. You can play it off. There's plenty.
- 41:08Speaker 1: This is basically like Ilona Andrews' portal fantasy book, basically. And, like,
- 41:16Speaker 1: I know there's other portal fantasies out there, but I've
- 41:18Speaker 1: only ever read This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by
- 41:21Speaker 1: Ilon Andrews. Fantastic book, if you guys have not picked
- 41:24Speaker 1: it up. But the reality shattering stone, okay, you just
- 41:30Speaker 1: got transported into these. These characters are now real. Congratulations.
- 41:34Speaker 1: There is no rhyme or reason behind that, sorry, the
- 41:42Speaker 1: toddler is screaming, and it really distracted me. There is
- 41:47Speaker 1: no rhyme or reason to include the MCU, just saying
- 41:54Speaker 1: MCU in general, into the Star Wars universe and be canon.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Yeah. No, it's absolutely bonkers, but one thing that we
- 42:06Speaker 2: had talked to with Adrian on this whole thing with
- 42:09Speaker 2: Star Wars and Marvel, I told people, hey, you know what?
- 42:15Speaker 2: There's probably going to be, because it was only rumored,
- 42:20Speaker 2: there was no confirmation, but I was like, I'm willing
- 42:23Speaker 2: to bet there's going to be a Lego Star Wars
- 42:27Speaker 2: Marvel crossover. Like, eventually. Because who wouldn't take the money
- 42:33Speaker 2: grab out of that? And lo and behold... At a
- 42:37Speaker 2: Marvel Comics House of Ideas. Panel. They also announced. Hope Assembles.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Build the ultimate mashup. And this is a campaign. For ideas.
- 42:51Speaker 2: So if people don't know. The Lego ideas. Campaigns and
- 42:56Speaker 2: how they work. Is. Individuals like me and you. Follow
- 43:02Speaker 2: the money. Exactly.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah. That was for Adrian, guys.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Individuals just like you and me, whoever has Legos easily
- 43:14Speaker 2: and readily available, you can literally create your mashup of
- 43:21Speaker 2: Star Wars and Marvel because they have Marvel Legos. They
- 43:24Speaker 2: have Star Wars Legos. You just mash them up and
- 43:28Speaker 2: then submit these ideas to the campaign. Okay. The winner...
- 43:34Speaker 2: And this is usually how it goes because they've done
- 43:36Speaker 2: it with Pokemon a couple times. So usually how this
- 43:39Speaker 2: will go is Lego will decide who the winner is
- 43:44Speaker 2: and then say, hey, that's the moneymaker. Hey, you won.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I don't exactly know what the winner usually gets, honestly,
- 43:53Speaker 2: other than bragging rights. But it becomes a new set
- 43:57Speaker 2: that Lego then releases and people are able to purchase.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Got to. This like, I don't think people like, of
- 44:11Speaker 2: course nobody needed this, but like, do you really need
- 44:16Speaker 2: to come up with a set like this when you
- 44:20Speaker 2: already have both franchises licensed and readily available for you
- 44:25Speaker 2: to be selling already? You should be pushing this for
- 44:29Speaker 2: an animated movie. Like I suggested on Disney plus.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:35Speaker 2: That's honestly what you should be doing. Like people are like,
- 44:40Speaker 2: like Disney is worried about having to put up their
- 44:44Speaker 2: prices on Disney plus every three months or so. It's
- 44:47Speaker 2: just like, Hey, why don't you put these licenses to
- 44:51Speaker 2: good use and give us more content? And then people
- 44:56Speaker 2: will feel obligated or not necessarily obligated, but want to
- 45:01Speaker 2: watch your content. That's what they should be doing. But instead,
- 45:04Speaker 2: they're coming out with stuff like this. It's just like, oh, yay,
- 45:08Speaker 2: a Star Wars Marvel set that I will never be
- 45:11Speaker 2: able to purchase because it's going to be $ 90 plus. Cool. Yep.
- 45:17Speaker 2: You know?
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 2: It's just, it's cool for the concept, annoying for the reality.
- 45:29Speaker 2: You know?
- 45:30Speaker 1: Precisely, yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Is how I look at this type of stuff.
- 45:34Speaker 1: A poor gamble. And probably the reason they're holding the
- 45:38Speaker 1: competition is so they can use people's creative ideas and
- 45:45Speaker 1: not have to pay more than like, I think typically
- 45:48Speaker 1: the prize that I've seen for these, like other companies,
- 45:51Speaker 1: not necessarily Lego has been like $ 10, 000. And you agree
- 45:55Speaker 1: to give us exclusive rights kind of thing.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Oh, it's, it's, it's really stupid. How expensive is, these
- 46:03Speaker 2: things really start to get, like, genuinely. But yeah, it's
- 46:09Speaker 2: so frustrating. But even more frustration. But the reason why
- 46:16Speaker 2: I brought up the Star Wars Marvel comic and now
- 46:20Speaker 2: the Legos is to bring up this second or third story. Katie,
- 46:26Speaker 2: this probably went under your radar because you're not really
- 46:28Speaker 2: a game person. But... Epic Games, the same individuals that
- 46:38Speaker 2: are in charge of Fortnite and when it comes to gaming,
- 46:45Speaker 2: they were interested and are still interested and are completely
- 46:50Speaker 2: still moving forward with this project, but creating a game
- 46:56Speaker 2: that is sharing the Star Wars and Marvel license... It's
- 47:01Speaker 2: going to be a, I believe it's a first-person shooter.
- 47:06Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a first-person shooter or what,
- 47:08Speaker 2: but it's a licensed shooter game. It is being delayed
- 47:14Speaker 2: due to the fact that they are shifting 100% of
- 47:20Speaker 2: their focus to AI in this game. And it's not like, hey,
- 47:29Speaker 2: we're going to do a little bit of this And
- 47:32Speaker 2: then we'll hire the artists for all of this. No,
- 47:35Speaker 2: they are doing AI for the coding. They are doing
- 47:38Speaker 2: AI for the visuals. They are doing AI for the concepts.
- 47:42Speaker 2: They are using AI for everything. I told Travis because
- 47:48Speaker 2: he was the one that shared the information with me.
- 47:50Speaker 2: I said, oh, cool. One game that I can actually
- 47:53Speaker 2: put on my will-never-buy list when it comes to two
- 47:58Speaker 2: of the franchises that I purposely put on always-buy lists. Yep.
- 48:06Speaker 2: I put these two things on... I put Star Wars
- 48:10Speaker 2: and Marvel and DC. When it comes to video games,
- 48:14Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, I'm going to at least try it out.
- 48:17Speaker 2: This is a game that I will never, ever download again.
- 48:22Speaker 2: never purchase, never rent. They are purposely doing this. And guys,
- 48:32Speaker 2: you don't understand. When you vibe code, you then have
- 48:37Speaker 2: to triple check your work to make sure nothing redundant
- 48:42Speaker 2: and stupid happens within that code. Like you're doing three
- 48:49Speaker 2: times the work. And now you have to do it
- 48:53Speaker 2: for every single category and department of creating that one game.
- 49:05Speaker 2: That is insane to me. I have understood. Well, personally,
- 49:14Speaker 2: I don't understand. But I understand the nonsense like, idea of, oh, well,
- 49:23Speaker 2: if we just vibe code this, it'll be so much faster,
- 49:26Speaker 2: you know? But then you're having to put all that
- 49:30Speaker 2: extra work in.
- 49:34Speaker 1: As a software engineer, I'm gonna keep my mouth shut.
- 49:39Speaker 2: She's like, I want to keep my job, guys. I'm
- 49:41Speaker 2: not going to say anything. And that is why I
- 49:44Speaker 2: am here. I can complain for the both of us.
- 49:48Speaker 2: It's just, it's wild to me. Absolutely wild to me
- 49:54Speaker 2: that Epic Games, Katie, one thing that I, again, Fortnite
- 50:04Speaker 2: was the biggest gamble ever. And genuine surprise to Epic
- 50:09Speaker 2: Games that ever happened. So I don't know if... Are
- 50:14Speaker 2: you familiar with the term castle defense? Like, it's a
- 50:18Speaker 2: genre of gaming. Are you familiar with it at all?
- 50:22Speaker 1: I've played Fortnite briefly. So I understand the concept.
- 50:27Speaker 2: So Fortnite... The idea of Fortnite that you know is
- 50:31Speaker 2: probably not the idea of Fortnite when it first conceptualized. I...
- 50:36Speaker 2: was lucky enough... Oh no, what did I miss? TLDR,
- 50:41Speaker 2: YR Mad. Oh, Adrian, it's the idea of Epic Games...
- 50:48Speaker 2: Vibe coding. Vibe coding on 100% of the process of
- 50:51Speaker 2: creating their Star Wars and Marvel shooter game. I'm super
- 50:56Speaker 2: pissed about all of this. And the reason why I'm
- 50:58Speaker 2: pissed off is Epic Games created Fortnite... Back in 2014,
- 51:07Speaker 2: I got a special invite code because I ended up
- 51:17Speaker 2: working at GameStop. And they're like, hey, they are giving
- 51:20Speaker 2: out this random code to people to try out this game.
- 51:23Speaker 2: It's a castle defense. So the actual game that they
- 51:28Speaker 2: were selling, you're supposed to build this awesome looking castle.
- 51:34Speaker 2: that has all these traps and zombies are supposed to
- 51:39Speaker 2: run up in waves and try to destroy it. But
- 51:43Speaker 2: because you build this, all these traps and have all
- 51:47Speaker 2: these weapons, just like in your castle, you're trying to
- 51:50Speaker 2: see how long you can survive. Okay. And they were like, Hey,
- 51:55Speaker 2: also on the side, if you get tired of that game,
- 51:59Speaker 2: we're also trying this thing. That's like a battle Royale.
- 52:04Speaker 2: It's winner take all, kind of King of the Hill
- 52:07Speaker 2: type of style stuff. And so people literally stopped playing
- 52:13Speaker 2: the actual Fortnite to play their Battle Royale. They built
- 52:23Speaker 2: a game and people migrated to the online service like crazy.
- 52:29Speaker 2: Epic Games and Fortnite literally are the reason why why
- 52:34Speaker 2: live service games are currently dying because they're all trying
- 52:39Speaker 2: to chase Fortnite.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Well, and that's, I think the problem that most technology
- 52:45Speaker 1: companies face is they want to be the latest and greatest.
- 52:50Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, if you can
- 52:52Speaker 1: do it smartly, fine, fantastic. If you cannot do it smartly,
- 52:58Speaker 1: then you need to figure that out now because you
- 53:00Speaker 1: will continue to lose money.
- 53:02Speaker 2: And I'm so angry because the people over at Epic Games, they,
- 53:09Speaker 2: oh my gosh, what's the book, oh my gosh, where
- 53:14Speaker 2: the guy goes into the game and it's, oh shoot.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Ready Player One.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Ready Player One. He, when he had said like, oh,
- 53:27Speaker 2: when I created my gaming studio, my dream is to
- 53:30Speaker 2: one day create the game that has all the games
- 53:35Speaker 2: of infinite games that people can just play forever. That's
- 53:40Speaker 2: his dream. That's why when you play fortnight, now there's
- 53:43Speaker 2: all sorts of like racing. You can play Lego on there.
- 53:46Speaker 2: You can play like essentially guitar hero on there. It's
- 53:49Speaker 2: because he wants to create this big thing. And that's
- 53:52Speaker 2: why he's wanting to work with so many IPS because
- 53:55Speaker 2: eventually he'll be able to cash in those checks with
- 53:59Speaker 2: all of these licenses and create his dream game the
- 54:04Speaker 2: dude has so much stupid money and he decides hey
- 54:09Speaker 2: let's just let's just all go with ai on this one.
- 54:13Speaker 1: The problem is is that ai is the latest and greatest.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Is what i have to say to that i'm sorry.
- 54:23Speaker 1: As a software engineer that's keeping.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Your mouth i was gonna say keeping your mouth shut
- 54:30Speaker 2: um But yeah, it's just, when I saw this, I
- 54:34Speaker 2: was just so upset. I genuinely was. And I was
- 54:37Speaker 2: just like, why? Why are you doing this to me?
- 54:42Speaker 2: But we do have a little bit of a rumor
- 54:47Speaker 2: mill as our last piece of news over for the
- 54:56Speaker 2: Star Wars Eclipse, Knights of the Old Republic Eclipse.
- 54:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 55:00Speaker 2: And KOTOR. Um, we have here and I have it,
- 55:06Speaker 2: I have it like on three different freaking things here. Um,
- 55:12Speaker 2: so Star Wars Eclipse is very far along, but, uh,
- 55:16Speaker 2: it's still very far along, but still has a ways
- 55:19Speaker 2: to go. The rumors are true about the issues between
- 55:22Speaker 2: quadratic dream and Lucasfilm, but the game will absolutely still
- 55:27Speaker 2: come out. It still has a large scope, multiple lead characters, uh,
- 55:32Speaker 2: You play with different points of view in a larger
- 55:36Speaker 2: grand scale story. One of the leads is traditional young Jedi.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Another lead is a non-force sensitive girl. And a kind
- 55:46Speaker 2: of older gentleman surrogate grandfather character as well. And then
- 55:56Speaker 2: they said so excited for Eclipse. I think there is
- 56:02Speaker 2: a decent chance that Eclipse and KOTOR release in the
- 56:07Speaker 2: next year alongside the Jedi three game. So Eclipse or
- 56:16Speaker 2: KOTOR could be releasing with the Jedi three that is
- 56:21Speaker 2: rumored to be releasing next year. Now I, and like the,
- 56:29Speaker 2: People are laughing, or they're at least giving the laughing
- 56:33Speaker 2: emoji on Discord when I said this. This is a
- 56:36Speaker 2: genuine statement, and I want to explain why. But when
- 56:41Speaker 2: I saw this news, I said two Star Wars games
- 56:44Speaker 2: a year being in the new normal would really make
- 56:47Speaker 2: me question my spending habits. And I don't know if
- 56:49Speaker 2: that's a good thing or bad thing.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:54Speaker 2: Video games are becoming more and more expensive every single year.
- 56:59Speaker 2: I think I saw a report saying that on average,
- 57:05Speaker 2: people are now only buying two to three games. And
- 57:11Speaker 2: that third one is really leaning off recently. Famously, next
- 57:18Speaker 2: month is the release of GTA 6. That is going
- 57:22Speaker 2: to be an $ 80 to $ 100 game. I bought two
- 57:29Speaker 2: Star Wars games this year. I am really fighting on
- 57:37Speaker 2: whether I'm going to be buying GTA 6 because of
- 57:40Speaker 2: the cost that it eventually will be. You know? Next year,
- 57:46Speaker 2: I'm already buying the third Final Fantasy 7 and Kingdom
- 57:52Speaker 2: Hearts 4. And now it's looking that I'm also going
- 57:56Speaker 2: to have to grab two Star Wars games. This like
- 58:05Speaker 2: is going to be a huge problem. Because these games
- 58:13Speaker 2: like I don't know if you saw the backlash of
- 58:16Speaker 2: the Wolverine game on Instagram at all. So it was
- 58:21Speaker 2: a little silly. I will admit this. But there was
- 58:26Speaker 2: so much backlash on some of the creative choices as
- 58:33Speaker 2: far as UI that happened with that game that reviewers
- 58:40Speaker 2: and gamers were ripping Insomniac a new one because it's like, oh,
- 58:45Speaker 2: you're holding our hands playing this Wolverine game when you've
- 58:51Speaker 2: created this amazing... spider-man franchise within the same universe why
- 58:57Speaker 2: is this such a crap game you know quote-unquote crap
- 59:00Speaker 2: game and it actually drove people to not want to
- 59:07Speaker 2: buy the wolverine game okay these star wars games this
- 59:13Speaker 2: year thankfully have been absolutely amazing.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah they really took their time with developing them and
- 59:24Speaker 1: um it shows they're good.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Games And I think that exact same care and love
- 59:31Speaker 2: for these games that came out this year is going
- 59:35Speaker 2: to be the same case for the games that are
- 59:38Speaker 2: allegedly coming out next year. They need to do that
- 59:44Speaker 2: and really sell, hey, these are the two games you
- 59:49Speaker 2: want to buy this year. Yeah. Otherwise... it's going to
- 59:54Speaker 2: crap all over the idea of like, Hey, Star Wars
- 59:58Speaker 2: games are back, you know? And then it's going to
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: scare even the studios for gaming to be like, Oh,
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: I don't want to touch Star Wars. Actually. I don't
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: know if we should make another Star Wars game, you know? Yeah.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: So Adrian also said watching tales of whatever they on fortnight.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Was a lot of fun. Was like watching in. Mos Eisley.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Shame because not another game. That allows you to do that.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. The one thing. I don't know if you
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: remember this. But Fortnite recently. Has also been like. Having
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: theater mode. Inside the game. And so like your avatar.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Of the character that is you know. Shooting people and stuff.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: They all. like go into the waiting room and is,
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: is like basically an outdoor theater. It's massive. And people
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: watch there. Like there's been times where they've put anime
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: on there for like 48 hours and people just like
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: sit in game watching that people were watching tales of
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: the Jedi through that as well.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Like, like there has been all sorts of crazy things
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: inside Fortnite and like, when it comes to gaming, it's
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: becoming so like a, like for, for me, especially right now,
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: it is harder for me to really choose whether I'm
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: going to buy a game or if I'm going to
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: go buy an extra thing of groceries or, Hey, that's
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: gas money for the next two weeks, you know, type
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: of thing like video games more than ever right now
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: are a, hey, we really have to wait and see. Yeah.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: And for games like the ones that Epic Games is making, oh,
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: we're going to just do all full AI. It's like, oh, okay, well,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: I'm just going to not buy that game. And of course,
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Epic is going to go, oh, it's okay, we have Fortnite.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: It's not too much of a loss. Like, yeah, it sucks,
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: but we have Fortnite still. Yeah. But that's not going
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: to be the case. Oh, well, go ahead.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: Adrian's right. He says, and kids don't know any better.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Fortnite was the most impactful game for Gen Z. Gen
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: Alpha is cooked. Yeah.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And the idea, like I had mentioned before,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: with these other smaller publishers that have a chance to
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: work with licensed stuff, like if they see a Star
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: Wars game crash and burn, they're not going to want
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: to touch the license. So, like, it starts to get
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: really nerve-wracking with that type of thing. And so I
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: just really hope that these other publishers see Epic Games
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: and they're like, hey, F you, we're going to do
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: our own thing and make really good games. That's all
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: I want, honestly. But enough with my rant. Let's actually
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: talk about a game that Katie did get to play.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I played a grand total of 11 hours and 38
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: minutes over.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: The past week. I'm actually really curious. Katie, share a
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: little bit of your thoughts. I'm going to turn my
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: PlayStation on right now, and I'm going to see how
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: long I've been playing right now. Yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Okay. So, um, y'all, so I, uh, did my, my husband,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Matt got galactic racer for me. Um, and y'all, I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: am a cadet level. I don't do advanced racing or
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: at least not at the start. Like with Mario cart,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I was on like the highest difficulty, but that's because like,
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I know those tracks very well. And so I was
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: able to kind of manipulate them a While I'm learning
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: the tracks, I am terrible. I don't have good hand-eye coordination.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: My right hand and my left hand. Matt had to...
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: We got it on Xbox. And Matt had to map
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: some buttons for me on the paddles on the back
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: of the controller. Because I just literally could not manage
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: to get my thumbs properly. I'm currently doing a carpal
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: tunnel treatment. because i just death grip i don't know
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: why but like basically had to remove my a button
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: and put it on the back of the controller well.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I will say this it guys guys and adrian i
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: think can attest to this this game is so much
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: more intense than i ever imagined this game would get
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: i didn't think.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I was gonna actually like be like dying. I don't like,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I don't, again, maybe I thought there was a little
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: cloud man coming to rescue me when I like went
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: off the cliff or something.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: I don't know. So Adrian has a full total of
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: 46 hours. Of course he had to do a review on, uh,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: but why though I have a total of 13 hours
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: into this game, guys, I am doing pilot. Um, adrian
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: i don't.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Know i'm actually further than clay.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Is she she is technically closer uh uh to the
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: end of the campaign than i am um uh adrian
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: also said xbox elite controller is so nice on this
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: game having the back pedals is so nice i envy
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: you guys now playstation does have like elite controllers i'm
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: not sure that's what they call them uh but they
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: are a little bit more on the expensive side. Um,
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: it is something that I want to, I want to
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: invest in it for sure.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Race controller support. What is that?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Okay. So, uh, Katie, they make.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: Actual wheel for the, they make, yes, they actually make
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: wheels and pedals for, One thing that I'm actually going
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: to share with you, I need to actually find it.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: So the really popular thing, and Adrian actually mentioned it here,
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I've seen three people do this so far. Katie, there's
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: people that have actually made flight stick pod racing controllers
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: actually work for this game on PC. It's pretty cool.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: it's pretty intense to where like a little bit of
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: a spoiler for the game. Um, there's times where you
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: can race as Sebulba, the flight sticks, because there's two
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: actually control the two giant pods of his racer to
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: where like, it actually controls whether you go right or
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: left up and down and all of that stuff. It's
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: actually really, really cool how people have kind of made
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: their own rigs for this game. But like, I don't
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: think people were actually playing this way until they're like, oh,
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: wait a second. You could actually do this for real
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: and then create an entire rig to go and just
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: pod race. Gotcha. Yeah, guys, this game is so fun.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: I wish I had an elite controller because I was also...
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Full disclosure, I restarted the campaign... I think a total...
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: I had it here on my notes. I think 14 times.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: I just kept getting destroyed. Purposely. Like, not purposely, but
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: I put specifically in my notes. F that lava planet.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Tight turns. The dark caves.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Like the fact that like you are so in like
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: sunlight and then like going into the dark cave and
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: you're like, wait, what? And then there's a wall right there. Boom, explode.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Well, I hate to break it to you, but that
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: planet does come back.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: It does. Act three. Yeah, yeah. I think most of
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: the planets kind of circle back around.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: On the second....
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Multiplayer feels like a pvp arena oh my god pvp
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: arena uh pvp is is like player versus player yeah
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: okay so he's basically saying how multiplayer is just a
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: whole bunch of other people purposely just trying to destroy
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: one another to get.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Okay matt played multiplayer once i was not brave enough
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: to do multiplayer so i asked him and i was
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: like he got he got fourth place that was his
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: first time racing on the game and he was like
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: yeah i'm gonna he he got fifth place well and
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: that's the thing.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Like i currently do not pay for playstation online this
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: game makes me want to pay for online just to
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: play the multiplayer for just the experience. This is how
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: good the game is guys. It's running like, like every
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: single company studio game wants you to pay a little
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: bit more into it.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: They always want you to go to the deluxe version.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: They always want you to get the extra stuff. This
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: like all you need is the online multiplayer and, and
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: like i just like i want to i want to
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: pay the 10 extra dollars to be able to race
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: with friends for just like on like three months or
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: so and i actually think i'm going to do it
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: um here pretty soon it's super fun guys um.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Yeah um I'm not great enough to be a multiplayer,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: like I said. But I had a lot of fun
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: with the regular racing. I got all the way through
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Act 2. I did have to get Matt to do
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: the Kestar race.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I haven't hit the Kestar race yet, but I finally
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: got to Act 2. I sent, uh, at 2 a.m.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: In the morning.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: Yeah. I sent a photo to Katie and I sent
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: a photo to discord because Taylor is actually playing the
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: game as well over at geek first. Um, we're, we're
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: like sharing like our experiences and everything. Um, I have been,
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: this is the only game I've been playing. Uh, it
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: like every chance I get, I'm turning it on and
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: I'm playing, um, not.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Took the xbox down from his office so i didn't
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: have to go up and down the stairs to go
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: play like i have originally i was gonna have more
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: time into it but then mara was sick monday and
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: i was sick tuesday so.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: I have amberlynn's chair right in front of the tv
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: i sit behind her and i give her i don't
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: even know where she has like a little toy like
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: wheel and so like i'm like okay You got to
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: race for me. You got to turn. Tell me when
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: to turn. And so, like, it's been a really fun
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: thing for me and her to kind of play with
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: as well. Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: Matt brought down a broken controller for Mara.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Oh, that's awesome. Amberlynn has kind of gotten smart with that.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: And so, like, I can't, like, I can't give her
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: the controller anymore. Because when she saw that there's more
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: than one speeder, she's like, oh, which one am I? Like,
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: where am I? Like, oh, can I race too? And
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I'm like, no. Again, which is another reason why couch
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: co-op needs to be a thing on these games, guys. Like,
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: this is something that I desperately need for this game specifically.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: Is I need couch co-op to become a future installment.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: But Katie, I messaged you back.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: On- So Adrian says the scenarios are also great ways
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: to try things out if you're worried about ruining a tour.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: I thought about this, but I think because I'm playing
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: on cadet mode that I'm really not doing too bad.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Like I sent Clay a picture. I was like, I
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: was so close. Like I miss in the championship eliminators.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: but I had like first and second places the whole time.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: Well, and that's something I think we should also mention.
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: There is when you do the tour, the campaign, if
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: you will, there is regular races, there is time trials. Um,
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: and then there is eliminator races where you're just trying
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: to stay within the first three, uh, uh, places in
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: a race before you get eliminated.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Um, And then there's also other opportunities in there. So
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: there's the scrap dealer to get faulty legendary parts.
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: And then there is mystery encounters where you can find
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: a friend or a foe that will either help you
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: if they're a friend or if they're a foe, they
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: can do some serious damage. So like one of the
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: instances with the friend or foe, like I ran into
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Kestar and Kestar was like, you're going to pay for
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: that scratch that you put on my speeder. And the
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: option was, is you could burn 2000 credits to pay
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: for the scratch on a speeder, or you could insult
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: him two different ways. I picked one of the insults
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: and he took away three upgrades and then crashed me
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: on my next race.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. I got a perfect start. And it blew
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: me up. I hadn't even moved yet. It's so funny, too,
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: because it explodes in slow motion. And while it was exploding,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: you just saw Biddy Baze just sitting there about to go. Which, guys,
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: one thing that we haven't shown you, Biddy Baze is
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: the talk of the town when it comes to this game.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: He has become the coolest... freaking glove shit on of the,
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: of the freaking franchise. I think it's absolutely hilarious. But one,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: that's one thing that I wanted to talk to you
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: about first, before we get into the questions, because on
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: Friday I did say like, Hey, keep these things in
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: mind when it comes to the review, the campaign, the
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: story mode, how did you feel about the story so far?
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Because you still haven't finished act three.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Correct. I believe is what, uh.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: There's three. Um, I haven't finished, uh, act two yet. Um,
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: it's not really a bother to me as far as like, uh,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: if anything is like necessarily spoiled, because again, there's a
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: lot of different kinds of scenarios that you can kind
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: of bump into. Yeah. But there's an overall story of
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: your character who is a mysterious character. Um, Which is
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: one thing that I'm kind of bothered by. And that's
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: only due to the customization. I really do wish you
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: could have created your character fully. But they only give
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: you a couple masks. And the color of your suit...
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: And then a male or female voice is really it
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: when it comes to the customization.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: And I wasn't bored by the customization just because I
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: don't play those type of games where I'm like, okay,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: let me go in and customize my character. The racer,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: you do have a lot of options for changing your color,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: changing your speed or model. You do have to pay
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: for those options. changes so like you can go through
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: it and it goes based on like each campaign um
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: that you run like how those points are coming off
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: and whatnot um i felt like the story was good
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: enough for a racing game like again going back to
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: mario kart guys because it's the only other in crash
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: bandicoot crash bandicoot was wild on playstation 2 there was
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: a lot of story related to that But for a
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: racing game, I don't expect a whole lot of storytelling.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: And so I feel like for what's there, the main
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: points are when you start the tour and then when
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: you defeat the enemy at the end of the act, basically.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: And I think that's fine. I wasn't expecting too, too much.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: So the story... I am interested about the gaffy versus bull.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: And I do, I, I go back and forth with
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: this because I'm like, cool. You have your own thing
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: to kind of play with in this galaxy far, far away.
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: But also at the same time, I'm like, do we
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: really need a new setup, new planets, new storytelling, all
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: of that. Like there are some planets like crate and stuff,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: but I've never heard of the bulls. I've never heard
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: of the gaffy. So like, I'm like.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong. I do genuinely believe, and I've
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: seen the sentiment a lot on TikTok, on Instagram, on threads,
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: that this game is genuinely also just a shut up
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: and drive type of game.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Basically, yes.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: And it's still so fun.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: I will say the other thing, and again, guys, this
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: may just be the type of games that I play.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: And stuff. I just, I wish I could turn the
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: trash talking off kind of during the races because I
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: want to be able to like listen to an audiobook
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: and just race in the time yeah but like i
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: thought i told you i was like we delayed master
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: of evil so that we could listen to the audiobook
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: while we were racing and stuff and i couldn't do
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: that because i felt like i had to listen to
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: the trash talking.
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: It's so funny like like some of it can get
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: kind of repetitive, but like if you crash too many times,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: like you'll hear different racers be like, Hey, I don't
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: think crashing is the best strategy. And then I laughed
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: at one.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: I was like, cause it was an eliminator and Ari
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Quill had just been eliminated. And then I crashed and
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Ari Quill comes. I was like, you know, you should
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: do better than that. And I'm like, well, you got eliminated.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: One of the things that I find hilarious is most
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: of the time, when you finish a race at first,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: if you finish a race first, the person that's talking
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: the most crap finishes in ninth place. I'm like, shut up. Like,
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: what are you doing? Like you want to talk smack
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: to me, but can't even finish within the first three
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: freaking ranks of this race. No, like just, just give up, man.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Um, I think the narrative is deeper than people give
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: it credit for.
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: Yup.
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: And, and, i for the for a while and for
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: me it's i got guys 14 times i restarted that
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: first campaign 14 times i was so stupidly frustrated with
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: this it got to a point where i was getting
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: a lot of repeats on kind of like the side
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: conversations before the races where i'm like i'm just skipping
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: all of this But whenever there was a new scenario,
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: I stood by the characters that were talking to each other.
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: And some of that conversation is actually really fun. You
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: start to really get a feeling for who this Kestar
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: character is, right? And what he is for the racing.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: That's also why I didn't just mute stuff is because
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: I wanted to be able to get that storyline. Where's
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: the Loth-Kat?
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: So there is two, there is one loaf cat that
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: follows you every single time that you are going to
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: like start a race or whatever. Like when you get
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: off your ship to go talk to, um, Oh, what's
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: her name? Uh, for the, for upgrading your ship. Yes.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: He be, um, there's a loaf cat there and it
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: says pet. If you press a button, you can pet it,
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: but you don't pet it. Shade immediately says, Oh, I'm
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: only here to race. Okay. And people have actually, I
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: saw a TikTok of somebody trying to pet the locat.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: And when it said, oh, I'm only here to race,
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: they literally turned off the game. They're like zero out
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: of 10. You can't pet the cat. Zero out of 10.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: I agree with this. I don't think there's enough characterization
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: for shade. This is like the biggest part of the
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: storyline for me.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I'm calling it now. This is something that I wanted
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: to say last week. but I wanted to wait until
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: our actual legitimate review. I think with how good this
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: game ended up being, I think in the next six months,
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: we could be seeing an announcement for a Galactic Racer novel.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: with shade.
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: I would agree based on how kind of things have progressed. Um,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: like it, it just makes sense ultimately with kind of how,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: and it'll probably be a prequel, um, like they've done. Um,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: but like Travis always says, you shouldn't need a novel
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: to really understand what's going on for like the base part.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I want to hate Kestar more. Oh, I think his
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: alien species is so interesting. Like the starfish shaped head. Yeah.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: And he just seems like a bully.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: He, he will. Cause like you find out on that
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: moment where he blows you up in that next race,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: you find out that like, he's a Nepo baby that
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: wasted all the money. That's all he is. He's a
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Nepo baby that, you know, got kind of good at
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: racing honestly it's just buying his way into everything but
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: like you call him out on his bullshit and he
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: gets mad and blows up your racer like which by
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: the way i do have to ask out of the
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: three what is your choice of racer.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: So i have unlocked all three i just got the
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: skim speeder unlocked um i have customized the most has
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: been the bike i did not i so my problem
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: with with most video games guys is i can't manage
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: the turning of both joysticks.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: At once okay understandable yeah and.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: So the speeder did not turn as much to me
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: um the bike turns a little bit more efficiently and
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I focused on like upgrading, like my cornering a lot
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: with it. Like even in like the base upgrade section.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: And so I think the skim speeder could be cool too,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: with the fact that it basically turns vertical, but I
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: feel a little more safe in the bike. And that's like, man,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: you're taking on these takedown challenges and, And you're.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: In a bike.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: There's not going to be a lot of takedowns in
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: a bike. I was like, shut up.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: So I did a land speeder on my first five.
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: I'm like, I got to try something new. Let me
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: try the bike. Bike wasn't working too well for me.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: And then I did the skimmer. And the skimmer got
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: me all the way to Sebulba. Finally. And I was like,
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: this is it. But then... the dude somehow launched my
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: skimmer a bajillion feet in the air from 300 yards away.
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: And I'm just like, this is stupid. I hate this.
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: And that's when Taylor was like, you need to invest
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: everything you can in your Ram jet and your afterburner.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay, how am I going to do that?
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Who do I want to use for that specifically? So
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: I chose the bike.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: For that the yeah the bike gives you just a
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: little more stability i feel like than the skim speeder
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: i have not played with the autopilot too too much.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: It's a lifesaver i know but i want to realistically.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Yes i want to experience.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: It no katie so one thing like because adrian i
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: don't know if you have uh adrian in the chat
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: i'm not sure if you have found out how to
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: do this or not but like one thing that i
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: think should be an option is.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: That that's what i'm doing basically is i'm dying on
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: the hill that quartering and your drift special.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Is your kinetic drift or whatever it's called uh knifing
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: or whatever um.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I do agree with this too. Autopilot will show you past.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: You didn't know where we're there. Yeah. It does.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: But like Katie, one thing, and this is something that
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: I want to ask Adrian as well is I don't
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: know where the option is to turn off the kill cam,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: the slow motion kill cam. Like I, like I think
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: it should be an option to turn that off because I,
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: Taylor found that after bumping into so many speeders and
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: like exploding them, it would go to real time and
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: then boom, he would crash immediately. And I'm like, okay,
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: I had.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: Better luck with, because basically I feel like autopilot kind
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: of turns on after the kill camp.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: So like, but it, it doesn't. And that is why
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: autopilot is so like clutch because, Because what I have
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: been doing, I have purposely been waiting until the kill
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: cam shows up and I press the button for autopilot.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: The wording comes up on the screen and immediately starts
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: driving for me. And so I get a couple seconds
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: to breathe, reassess my hands if I need to and
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: be like, okay, now I go. Right now on the
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: campaign that I'm running currently, I do have autopilot on there,
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: but the one thing that I'm using that is amazing
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: is the third tier vent ability.
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: I am using my Ramjet all the way until I'm
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: redlining and it pulls the vent automatically so I don't crash.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: I don't burn up. because it immediately turns on after redlining.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: It turns all the way down. I use the afterburner,
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: brings it on. all the way back up. I use the,
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: like I'm constantly in Ramjet, like for a hundred percent
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: of the race.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: See, and I guess here's my thing is I don't
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: understand how all of the builds together. I don't feel
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: like there was a good enough tutorial to tell me
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: all these things.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Oh, Katie, like it's become like a science to me.
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: It is wild where I'm just like, I'm just pressing buttons,
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: but I'm always pressing the R2 button to actually go.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: And then my fingers are just like, like I'm having
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: to readjust whether I'm using my middle finger or my
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: index finger for like my L1 and L2. It's crazy. Yeah,
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: I've constantly... I have... It's like Anakin doing pot racing.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: And I think that is the funniest thing because Adrian,
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: the one like overall, like understanding that most people are
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: getting throughout this entire gameplay of galactic racer is, Oh
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: my God, I can't believe nine-year-old Anakin was just doing
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: this on the regular. Like I even, I saw a
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: tweet today. The tweet said, what did it say? It said,
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Darth Maul was a saint for skewering that deranged psycho
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: Qui-Gon Jinn, because who in their right mind would let
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: a nine-year-old get behind the wheel of one of these monstrosities?
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: It is absolutely crazy and so much fun, genuinely. But
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: let's kind of get into the questions that I had
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: for you earlier. with the actual review here. So, um, you.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Said, we talked about the story already.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: We talked about the story. We talked about the models. Um,
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: we kind of talked about this, but I'll go ahead
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: and ask, were there a sufficient amount of customizable features
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: to your character model and, or your pod racer? How
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: do you, how do you feel about that?
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Uh, see, I'm so used to ones where you don't
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: get to customize them.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Like, okay.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: And I am also the type of person where I
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: tend to stick to the same vehicle model. Because in
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: Mario Kart, for instance, you could change your wheels. You
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: could change car to bike to boat sort of thing.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: I never really understood all of that because the math
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: just doesn't make sense to me. And so I tend to,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: like Adrian said, trial and error it. And when I
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: find something that works, I don't change it. So, like,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: that's why I've stuck with the bike and haven't really
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: attempted modifying the skim speeder to do anything. Like, in
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: terms of, like, colorizing and stuff, again, I'm not super
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: used to doing that.
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: I found a color scheme that matched my uniform. I'm like,
- 1:31:47Speaker 2: that's what I'm going with.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Yeah and I have been like unlocking it because I
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: wanted to see how far I could get with like
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: achievements and stuff but it turns out like there's not
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: a whole lot of achievements related to like coloring your
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: vehicle but like I have so it's 11 hours and
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: 38 minutes my gamer score whatever that means is 170
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: out of a thousand and achievements I have 17 out
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: of 49 so far um So I was like unlocking
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: all of like the different things in delivery because that's
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: all you spend those points on is in delivery. So
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: I was just kind of like knocking them all out
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: and saying like, Oh, I'm just going to unlock all
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: of them. So it stops saying like, Hey, you have
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: customizing available sort of thing. I do think that there
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: could have potentially been a better tutorial and not just like,
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: oh these buttons do this like i would have appreciated
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: like oh here's all the abilities you can get like.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: And that was my next question actually uh my my
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: next question it was the upgrade system was it self-explanatory
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: or was it too confusing um i.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: And i think upgrading it in terms of like the
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: cornering the afterburner the ramjet like upgrading those things was
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: fine I did struggle with the ability section and the battery.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: I didn't super understand that until actually I've watched Matt
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: race Kestar and we were kind of figuring out the
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: ability and the battery as that race went along. Cause
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: he didn't really get it either. So like the traditional upgrading. Yes.
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: But like the ability section and then like, all the
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: different parts, like you're unlocking all these parts as you
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: go through the campaign. And it's like, Hmm, but like,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: does all of this really make sense? Like, and it
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: does like you have like the vent cooling ability or
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Ramjet burn 60% less kind of thing. Like those things
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: make sense, but like building them, I didn't feel like
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: there was a ton of specifications in that.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: And this is just me being a novice. oh no and.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: No it it's all a learning curve because like for
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: the installed parts that i currently have fuel uh vortexer
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: three you know it says while surging uh uh after
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: burner uh can burn 200 more and you're like okay
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: well in that case i have to if I'm going
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: to use that ability, I need to look into surging
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: and I need to look to how good my afterburner is.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: And so there's so many things that you have to
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: synergize with. And that's kind of the one thing that
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: I started to look into after like my sixth freaking
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: campaign was like, okay, let me start to really look
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: to see what ability I'm choosing at the very beginning,
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: which is the, um, What is that thing called? Your little.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: The racing style.
- 1:35:04Speaker 2: Yes, the racing style that you choose to begin with.
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: Because that kind of starts you off with one ability
- 1:35:10Speaker 2: or one special part or whatever. And then you have
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: the favors that you get along the way.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: And I actually liked... And you haven't gotten to this
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: part yet. But after Act 2... Small spoiler alert. But
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Darius ends up being taken into custody and Kestar takes over.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: And I'm not going to go into any further from there.
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: But the Darius favor that you earn during the qualifier
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: that gets you an extra lead token, that actually completely
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: disappears from your favor selection.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: Oh, thank God. Okay. Okay. So I almost put it on.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: But it's per tour, right? So you're not going to
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: run into that issue until you beat Kestar at the end.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: Okay. Okay. Because, like, I still have Hebe's, which also
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: starts you with an extra token. So I was, because
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: I was like, man, do I need to put this
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: on or do, you know, whatever. So I also have. Oh,
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: I forgot the old Rebels one, but he gives you
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: like a 50% discount or a major discount at Hebe's shop.
- 1:36:28Speaker 2: There's some parts that I was buying for like 20 credits,
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: which is really, really nice when you're just looking for
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: something to give you a little bit more edge on
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: the next race. Not necessarily like the biggest thing. But
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: I just wanted to bring up my build here really quick.
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: I have my speeder bike. It currently has unboosted, like
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: not using any ramjet or afterburner. Its base speed is
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: 415 miles per hour. I have the ramjet all the
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: way maxed. I have my afterburner almost maxed at just
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: two more spots needing to be filled. And then my resilience...
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: Needs to be filled two more spots. I literally have
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: no other. I have no other cornering. I don't have
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: the battery. Nor do I have the. The kinetic burst.
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: Like I'm just using those three. To really kind of
- 1:37:27Speaker 2: just push me forward. For the rest of the campaign.
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: And I think. So you've actually done more campaign tours.
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: Than I have. Just because of how long it took you.
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: To get through the qualifier. So I have. I don't
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: have my build pulled up in front of me. That's
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: the one thing I probably could have done, but it's
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: my three main ones are cornering resilience. And then the
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: kinetic burst, which is the corner drifting.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Boost, which I will say cornering and connected kinetic bursts
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: are key to the frozen planet. I've learned.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Um, those are, those are big ones there. Um, I,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: because I tend to have so many issues with like, um,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: with button pressing in particular, it was important for me
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: to get those up just so that way I had
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: a little bit more stability there. I did just add
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: into the ability or the battery so that I could
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: use the ability more per race. So there's that one too.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: I wasn't necessarily concerned about the Afterburner and the Ramjet
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: at this point, just because, again, I'm still getting used
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: to all the tracks and stuff. So honestly, there's points
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: where I use the Ramjet and y'all can make fun
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: of this for me all you want. But I'm like,
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: oh my gosh, I'm going too fast. I'm going too fast.
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: Oh, no, Kate. So specifically, I'm so glad that I
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: finally beat Sebulba because there is a time trial on
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: the Frozen planet that is at night with a skimmer.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: That I did 18 freaking times. And Hibi even says that.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: I've only passed one of those Ramjet test runs. Because
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: I just get going too fast.
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: That one specifically is a time trial that you need
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: to finish in 3 minutes and 15 seconds. And at
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: the end of every single time that you fail, Hibi says, oh...
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: I was going to say, let's run it again, but
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: I'm just really hoping you win the championship. So that
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: way we don't come back. And I agreed with her
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: every single time that I lost it. But like auto venting,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: one of the abilities that I wanted to share with you,
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: gain cooled and reduce ramjet heat for an extended duration activities,
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: automatic activates automatically upon nearing the end of a red
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: lining zone. And that's the one that I was telling you.
- 1:40:13Speaker 2: It literally auto clicks. So you auto. Cools you off. Yeah.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: It auto. Like you don't even have to press the
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: button for it. You go all the way to the
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: very end where you think you're going to explode and
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: it automatically hits you and you go all the way
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: down and it cools and you're still going on the Ramjet.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Okay. That makes more sense because I was like, but yeah.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: Because the problem with activating the ability at the same
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: time is I'm holding the whatever ramjet button I'm using.
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: I'm also potentially holding the X so that I can drift.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: And I'm also navigating with the left turn. And then
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: I also have to activate the ability and try and
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: manage all those buttons. My brain can't handle it.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: It it does become a little bit of a science
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: because then you're also like after your ramjet and after
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: your afterburner you're kind of just left stagnant and you're
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: kind of just driving normally and you're like okay what
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: do i do now to prevent people from also passing
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: me up while also still staying in the lead and
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: so it kind of just teaches you like when to
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: press it when to go and do things it it's
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: a fun science, not like a maddening, like, Oh God,
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: I'm stranded. What do I do? Um, so it's been really, really,
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: really fun. Um, and genuinely we've actually talked about everything
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: else that we were going to discuss on this question thing. Um,
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: can you think.
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: Of anything else? I do want to try the scenarios. Um,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: and just kind of see how that goes. But I think,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: I'm also probably like, I played it every single day
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: except yesterday since it's come out. And I think I'm
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: going to have to cut it down to like twice
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: a week because I did my thumbs. Like Matt was like, well,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: I mean, you're off tomorrow. You could stay up. And
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: I was like, Hey, B my thumbs hurt a lot.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: Katie, there was the night that I actually won the
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: Suboba race and I ran the campaign twice that night.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: Two and a half hour campaign.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: Yeah. So I, I got to a point where I
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: was sitting down in front of the TV. By the
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: time I was at that final race, I was standing
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: up like, and like pacing in place between rounds and
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: kind of just like hyping myself up. But like my
- 1:42:54Speaker 2: entire house is asleep. So I'm having to like, okay, like,
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: When I beat Skoba, I couldn't yell out and I
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: couldn't be excited, but I was just like, oh, I
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: got my phone really quick. Took the picture for you
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: and Taylor. I was like, okay, cool. Yeah, I'm good.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: That is the other problem is that I drop too
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: many cuss words while I'm racing. And so literally... Marla
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: learned what the F word was the other day because
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: I was like, you know what? She's up for a map.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: It's going to be fine. I just have two more
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: races to finish this campaign. It's going to be fine.
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: And I dropped F, Fs, and that was it because
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: those were my main ones. But I was like, I just,
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: she said it and I was like, okay, I'm not
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: going to say anything because that's how you get them
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: to repeat them.
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: Don't say a thing. Don't say a thing.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: And like, y'all, my mom freaks out about butt. You
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: can't have your kids saying, but there's worse things that
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: she can hear.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: Amber Lynn is obsessed with the word poop right now.
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: So don't worry. It, it, it can, it goes so
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: much more.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Also doing the autopilot pre-check does your other pre-check. Yes.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: But it has to be, I think autopilot two or more.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Cause I did, I did, I raced with the autopilot
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: once and it was doing it because I picked up shield. Um,
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: and it was automatically doing my shield pre-check.
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: That is awesome. That is, I need, I need to
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: test it again. That is awesome. Um, yeah, that was
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: something that I saw randomly on, on a video on,
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: on you, on freaking Twitter. And I was like, Holy crap,
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: I need to test that out. Um, Trying to think. Honestly,
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: we kind of talked about this, but the campaign, three acts,
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: I think is perfect. With the amount of times that
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: I have played Act 1, still going through Act 2,
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: hopefully going to make my way through Act 3 and
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: not have to redo Act 1 and 2 again. Really
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: crossing my fingers on that.
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: No, you don't. Every time I lost on act two,
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: you just restart at your act.
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: Oh, thank God. Cause that has been like my number
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: one worry is like, please don't.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: Lose act two.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: That's why you lose the favor for act three. So
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: that's why I was like, okay, so you can still
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: use that favor for the whole of act two, because
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: once you restart the tour, then that's when the favors reset.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: So you stick at the same act that you're at.
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: And so I have to ask also maps. Do you
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: think there is an efficient amount of maps? Because each
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: time you go to a planet, you race on like
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: three different maps that kind of are the same, but
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: they're different. Like if you've noticed, like, yeah, they're just
- 1:46:04Speaker 2: extended or shorter forms of themselves, right?
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: I thought there was plenty, but again, I didn't replay
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: the maps as much as you did. So you might've
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: been like, well, I'm bored on this one. Like, I
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: can't believe that I can't beat.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: Well, no, it became, it became more of like, okay,
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: I know this turn is coming up or like, Hey,
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: I've learned how to like Ram jet into this hiding
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: like shortcut. So like I can go into there and
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: do this and do that. Um, I think that as
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: of right now, going through act two, that it is
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: sufficient for the campaign. Um, as far as like going
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: into multiplayer, I have no idea, you know, um, it's
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: going to be the same maps. Is it going to
- 1:47:00Speaker 2: feel like it's going to be repetitive? I don't know yet.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: Cause I haven't played multiplayer. Um, From the.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Limited experience that Matt did with the multiplayer, I feel
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: like you won't get bored of it just because of
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: just the chaos that is.
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: The non-computer racers. Yeah. So I think, genuinely, I think
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: this is just an all-out great game. One thing that, again,
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: like Adrian said earlier, Galactic Racer 2 is going to
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: be lit. And one thing that, like, people don't realize
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: is we haven't had a pod racer in nearly 23
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: years um i think a little bit i think the
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: first pod racer game came out a little bit after
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: episode one i don't even think it came out in
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: 2001 i came i think it came out in 2002
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: or 2003 um and so like this is essentially pod
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: racer 2 but with a different with a different title
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: galactic racer um I genuinely hope this becomes the Mario
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: Kart of Star Wars. I don't think that they need
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: to reinvent the wheel. They just need to update. They
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: just need to maybe add a map. Maybe add a planet.
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: A couple more things to do when it comes to upgrading. Genuinely,
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: you don't have to reinvent the wheel, guys. You made
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: an almost... perfect game. Like, I know we don't do
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: rankings here. This is a very close 10 out of 10. Like,
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: this is a 9.8, 9.9 game. Genuinely. Yeah.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Absolutely. 100%. Yeah. And I know, like, if you're, like,
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: Katie doesn't play games that often.
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: Yeah. but even still for somebody who doesn't play a
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: whole lot then gets their hand on a game for
- 1:49:13Speaker 2: you to say oh that's a 10 out of 10
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: game like that's still impressive it's it's it would be
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: completely different if you're like yeah like that game was
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: shit i never want to get my hands on a
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: video game again like this could encourage you to play
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: even more you know Yeah.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: And the other thing I wanted to say is, so
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: I'm playing on the Xbox, obviously. I used to be
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: a PlayStation person, but again, you only buy one game
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: every five years. There's no point in getting a separate
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: gaming system from the husband who games all the time.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: I did not find any bugs or glitches or anything
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: in the game.
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: I found one. On the Xbox.
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: Oh. You're playing on PlayStation.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: Yes, I have. I'm playing on the PlayStation. I haven't
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: been able to replicate it. So I don't know how
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: often people have been having this issue. But I said
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: it the other day. I think it was legit last night.
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: Let me see if I can find where I was
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: saying it. I basically, I think, almost broke the game.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: I think I broke the game in order to finish
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: in third place on one race at crate. I think
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: it was, it was crate. Um, I use the Ram
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: jet until I exploded because that's one thing that I
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: have found out. If you, it does not matter how
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: you finish the race. As long as your speeder goes
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: over the finish line, finish the race. So in order
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: to finish in third, I used the Ramjet until I exploded.
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: Crossed the finish line in slow motion due to the
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: kill cam. Now everything is still in slow motion as
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: I see the results, choose my upgrades, and everything else.
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: I may need to restart the PS5. And I ended
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: up having to restart my PlayStation because even when it
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: got to, like, do you know how you get to
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: choose kind of your pathway of how you want that
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: tour to go or whatever?
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Like I would move my little, I would move my curse, my,
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: my joystick. And it took like four seconds for it
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: to look at the other option. It was still going
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: in slow motion. That was the only time that that happened.
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: And then I.
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Think the only time that I've had that happen where
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: I died going over the finish line was, was on
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: Jakku and it was the one that finishes like right
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: outside the tunnel. And I hit the wall and it
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: bounced me over the finish line and I exploded.
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: But, but, but that's not necessarily a glitch. That's just
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: something that is a feature of the game. But like
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: the fact that it kept the entire UI going in
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: slow motion due to the mechanic of the kill cam, um,
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: Like that was what, like, I was like, Oh crap.
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: I think I broke my game.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: So thankfully it fixed with a restart. But yeah, I
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: like comparatively to that of zero company where you had
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: a whole bunch of layoffs and then like the client
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: kept on crashing so many times. And I had that
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: problem like two weeks into gaming and, This, I haven't
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: touched a single issue yet at all. And it's been
- 1:52:52Speaker 2: a week. So I think this is just a really
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: good launch of a game. People are playing it. People
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: are streaming it on TikTok, on Twitch. It's just a
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: good game. And I recommend if you genuinely just want
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: to have a game to play with friends, to.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: Pass some time, and if you're genuinely just a Star
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: Wars fan, this should be a game that you own.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: 100%. 100%.
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: Alright, guys.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: Clay, where can they find you?
- 1:53:32Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, you can find me over at Instagram
- 1:53:35Speaker 2: and threads over at fanboyclay. Go check me out there.
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: There is a brand new episode of Ranger Alliance. So
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: go check that out. Jake and I should be recording
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: our next episode this Sunday. So make sure to check
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: that out as well. Just a shout out to the
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: Geekverse guys. They're gearing up for their charity stream. So
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: that will be at the beginning of next month. So
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: keep an eye out for that. We'll be promoting it
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: as well.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: November 7th. With the trivia, which Clay and I tend
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: to always participate in being between 10 to 12 PST.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: Yeah. This time they're doing it a little bit earlier. Yeah.
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: because usually it is a little bit of a later
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: category that they do in the 24 hour stream. This
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: time they're doing it early. And I believe there might
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: be some other stuff that is going on with that
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: stream as well that I'm excited to look into. So
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: go check that out. Katie, what about you?
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: I don't know what time my football game is that day. Oh, well.
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: we're losers this year anyway i'm just kidding i'm just

- 1:55:16Speaker 1: at the end the war is very important.
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: Don't forget it.
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: Next week, we will be discussing Master of Evil, the
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: second review for Spooky Season. And then going into our
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: Halloween episode, we will be discussing George Mann's Dark Legends book,
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: which came out several years ago. And Clay has unfortunately
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: figured that out, that these books like to go out
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: of publication. publication for physical editions.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: Yes, they do. So I'm going to have to just
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: read it digitally.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: Yeah. I do believe I've seen some used copies. I
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: think I actually got my copy used.
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: I know two places that might have it. So I'm
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: actually going to call them sometime this weekend to see
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: if they have it on hand. And if they do,
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: I'm probably going to pick it up. Nice.
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Nice. All right. Well, guys, with that, I want to
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: wish everyone a great day or night, whatever time of
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: day you are listening or watching. And we will see
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: y'all next time. May the force be with you.
