Latest / OneLegUpAlex Media / Why Starbucks Needs to Get One Leg Up On Its Israeli Conflict Messaging
Transcript
- 0:05All right here on the Alex Garrett podcast network. I'm at a dilemma,
- 0:09folks. I'm ad a dilemma whether to go back to Starbucks, because as
- 0:17the news continues to unfold with this awful attack on Israel, I mean awful
- 0:22attack, Starbucks is trying to do its best to distance itself from its workers
- 0:30and the workers union, the Starbucks Workers Union, who basically said they expressed
- 0:37solidarity with Palestine after Hamas terrorists massacre more than twelve hundred Israelis. This actually
- 0:45target triggered a call to boycott the coffee giant because the controversial post like to
- 0:54tweet by one of its members saying once again free Palestine, meaning meaning that
- 1:02one worker that they supported probably liked the fact that Hamas committed this attack.
- 1:11And though Starbucks is spinning its wheels to distance itself, do we want to
- 1:19face sixteen thousand Baristas now and wonder, hey, do you support what Hamas
- 1:29did in order to free Palestine? Or do you not? It's a question
- 1:34that shouldn't even have to be asked, Okay. And while the union president,
- 1:38Mary Kay Henry did issue a statement to the New York Posts later in
- 1:44the day after the post reached out, which was fairly commendable. She said,
- 1:51the violence in Israel and Palestine is unconscionable. SCU SCIU stands for all
- 2:00who are suffering, strongly condemning anti Semitism, Islamophobia and hate in all forms.
- 2:06I pray for a swift resolution and a future where all in the region
- 2:08can be happy, safe and live with dignity. Pretty good answer. But
- 2:14again, is it worth looking at a barista in the eye as a Jewish
- 2:17person and saying, do you believe in a Jewish person's right to exist?
- 2:23Or do you think the Free Palestine movement should support Hamas Because when you're chanting
- 2:30gas the Jews like many have on the streets of New York and under the
- 2:35guise of free Palestine and protect the innocent, when you, under the guise
- 2:42of protect civilians, basically tell Israel not to defend itself. President Biden,
- 2:50are you truly in support of Israel? I ask that of the Biden administration,
- 2:58because see, here's the situation we now have Israel, who wants the
- 3:04defendant that will probably will go into the ground war, who's actually killed those
- 3:09in charge of this attack, who planned it? Another Hama's commander is dead
- 3:15today, which is great, but underneath it all, underneath the I say,
- 3:21with Israel support that Biden's been saying in the phone calls he's had with
- 3:25the Yahoo apparently they've told him, hey, be careful how you react,
- 3:31don't kill civilians. And we know Hamas does hide behind human shields, right,
- 3:38and we do know that the only way to get to the terrorists is
- 3:46through precision. And that's what I'm praying that Biden administration can do, that
- 3:53Israel can do right now, is precision so that no casualties are lost.
- 4:00I have no issue with the majority of Palestine people that just want to live
- 4:03and exist and not deal with this bull crap. But when you say free
- 4:11Palestine but not condemn Hamas, that's where my problem is. That's where my
- 4:21problem is. And no, I don't think every Barista is for Hamas.
- 4:27I don't believe that, but I would like more Union members to speak up
- 4:32now and talk about supporting Israel condemning Hamas. You may not support Israel,
- 4:43but damn it, condemn Hamas at least condemn Hamas at least anyway. I
- 4:57just amount a dilemma because I don't know what known as the stand is,
- 5:00and I appreciate that Starbucks is trying its best to distance itself, but if
- 5:06that's the case, then fire the people you know are on record as supporting
- 5:14the terror organization known as the Moss. Fire them. Don't just issue statements.
- 5:19Take action, and it'll look better on you than a statement saying we
- 5:25condemn the terrorism. Great Now fire the people who don't, because the attitude
- 5:30of free Palestine once again, that doesn't show me any sympathy towards the Israeli
- 5:38who've been killed and slaughtered and taken hostage. That shows more. Yeah,
- 5:42I'm glad it happened. And if there are people that work at Starbucks that
- 5:46are glad what happened last Friday, if this Saturday happened, they need to
- 5:49be fired at Starbucks. They need to be fired pronto, or you might
- 5:57lose my business. Because see, it's different when you separate yourself from the
- 6:02workers. Take action against the workers that have really been saying once again,
- 6:10free Palestine, because that's not what they actually mean. They mean, and
- 6:17I hate to say this term, they mean to think they should that the
- 6:20Jews should be killed. That's how I feel about it. That's how passionate
- 6:26I am about this and if you agree or disagree or think I should not
- 6:29boycott Starbucks, let me know. Alex at alex GNYC dot com. I'll

- 7:33would love to interact with me and would love you to interact with me Alex
- 7:36at ALEXTNYC dot com. Alex at ALEXTNYC dot com. But should Starbucks have
- 7:45a one leg up on their employees? That voice support for Palestine but don't
- 7:51condemn the terrorism. Should they have one leg up on them and fire them?
- 7:58And if they don't farm, how do we the consumer react? I
- 8:03think we boycott if those workers that speak out in favor of a free Palestine
- 8:09but not against the terror and still have a job and an apron tomorrow.
- 8:18No matter how many statements can be issued, it's inexcusable that the tone of
- 8:22free Palestine doesn't just mean free Palestine. And Starbucks better realize that or they
- 8:28will lose customers of all ethnicity. By the way, if they don't take
- 8:35action on the employees speaking out in favor of a free Palestine aka Hamas should
- 8:41do it again type of thing. That's how I feel these people who say
- 8:46free Palestine and say protect the Palestinine people. I believe because by not protecting
- 8:58Israel and not protecting by protecting the Palacian people, they mean don't don't react
- 9:05Israel to the terror you've just had. And then one last thing before I
- 9:11sign off for today on the one like a podcast, one last thing.
- 9:18As you know, I grew up around the United Nations, so when I
- 9:20saw this story of images being projected on the UN here in New York City
- 9:33of kidnap victims. I thought it was a good thing. That's someone post
- 9:41up on the UN who have set on this podcast for to absolutely nothing for
- 9:46Israel. Wake them the f up, Wake them up. The UN should
- 9:52know what's going on that Hamas is isis a group of Israeli Americans. The
- 10:01story, written by Megan Palin, says a group of Israeli Americans has claimed
- 10:07responsibility for the unsolicited series of projections that appeared on the United Nations last week
- 10:13showing children and elderly victims kidnapped by Hamas or waking in. The leader of
- 10:20the group told the Post that about ten families here in New York have ties
- 10:26to Israel. Ten New Yorkers with ties to Israel worked with the hostages families
- 10:33to make the video and showcase it for the world to see. He said,
- 10:39there's a lot of misinformation justifying what happened. The footage features the names
- 10:43and photos of some victims, including a nine month old baby and an elderly
- 10:48woman among the hundred Israeli's kidnapped by Hamas. So I applaud them. Why
- 10:58can't we read the victims' names like we read on nine to eleven. What's
- 11:01the difference here? Why can't we stand in support of Israel? Why can't
- 11:05we say the names? Why? I think we can and we should because
- 11:11the hashtag never forget it feels so applicable here, and the hashtag never again
- 11:18feels so applicable here. Never again should Jews and the Jewish people feel targeted
- 11:26and feel unworried and afraid to walk out of their house. Never again should
- 11:33a Jewish person feel that. And America better stand by those Jews who are
- 11:39really afraid right now and all Jews, of course, and stand by the
- 11:46state of Israel and not tell them to tone it down when they retaliate against
- 11:50Hamas, don't kill civilians. Why are you lecturing israel Is precise? The
- 11:58idea is damn good. I don't know how this slipped through the cracks at
- 12:03all, because the idea is actually more advanced than many people realize. So
- 12:11if I'm Joe Biden, I just sit down and let Israel take care of
- 12:13themselves. Yeah, the supporter is great, but at the end of the
- 12:18day, don't tell them, hey, watch out Forzvilians. You think the
- 12:22Israelis don't know that and I do pray that the two million that don't have
- 12:26heat or water right now, do get that restored or power, do get
- 12:31that restored, because they do need that to exist. While the Israeli forces
- 12:43go in and try and kill these Hamas commanders and they seem like they're doing
- 12:46a precise job with it, Thanks be to God. And then one last
- 12:52note here, I did do a little bit, a bit of a song
- 13:01and hope that it can bring us closer to spiritually being united, spiritual harmony,
- 13:11godly harmony. And I want to play you, And I'm sorry if
- 13:15you don't like the singing, but I want to. I want to play
- 13:18you something from just yesterday. And I'm not a canter, but I felt
- 13:24called to do this, and maybe playing singing this will bring some peace to
- 13:28the world into that region because we need it. Oh come, oh come,
- 13:37email you well and rent some captive e is Omans and lonely a zil
