- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, guys. What's up? Motherfuckers? How are you? You know,
- 0:07Speaker 1: from your camera on so I can see your beautiful face.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Oh you want to see my face? Motherfucker? Okay, starting
- 0:13Speaker 1: a little aggressive there. It is your background, blurred background.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I like it because I've been having I've been okay.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So I'm doing a pilot right now with John Cryer
- 0:25Speaker 1: and he's very funny. And Abigail Spencer's very I know
- 0:30Speaker 1: her too. Yeah, you guys the odds great in power. Yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: she was in OZZ. She's a really nice person. Yeah,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and we are, the three of us are doing a
- 0:38Speaker 1: pilot together with Tom Werner. Believe it or not, remember
- 0:42Speaker 1: Carcia Warner. Remember single Camp. It's sitcom multi Camp for NBC. Great, congratulations,
- 0:51Speaker 1: thank you very much. And has to do with why
- 0:53Speaker 1: you blurred your background. So I've been having to do
- 0:56Speaker 1: all of these zoom meetings and stuff like that with
- 0:58Speaker 1: the producers and some people from the network. And we
- 1:01Speaker 1: had a table read in front of the studio, and
- 1:04Speaker 1: I didn't want my wife's drapes dresses well, same shit,
- 1:10Speaker 1: her drapes in the background, hanging in front of all
- 1:13Speaker 1: of these people. So the funny thing is the algorithm
- 1:16Speaker 1: is you can see, doesn't know what to do with
- 1:18Speaker 1: your So it's it's so confused that they keep appearing
- 1:23Speaker 1: and disappearing. All right, let me fix this. Yeah, unfix
- 1:25Speaker 1: it because we know about your clothes. We're not a studio,
- 1:28Speaker 1: thank you. That's where there are man. Wait, wait, congrats,
- 1:33Speaker 1: that's awesome. Are you having fun doing the pilot? Yeah?
- 1:36Speaker 1: You know, it's a crazy thing because in this in
- 1:39Speaker 1: this climate, you know, you would think that people aren't
- 1:42Speaker 1: looking for sitcoms anymore. Well, they're They're always. Every time
- 1:45Speaker 1: someone proclaims the sitcom dead, it comes back. You just
- 1:49Speaker 1: need a good one. You know, people grew up on them,
- 1:52Speaker 1: they love them. Friends is still with a new generation.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The most popular TV show people love Seinfeld. You just
- 2:00Speaker 1: gotta find you just need you know, if it works,
- 2:02Speaker 1: it works. Yeah. So we're taking a swing at that.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And I got one of the best to ever do
- 2:08Speaker 1: it in John Cryer. Yeah, in the team, so he knows,
- 2:10Speaker 1: he knows how to do it. And Michael Malley is
- 2:13Speaker 1: writing it. So it's a it's actual. Do you have
- 2:15Speaker 1: funny jokes? Are you hilarious? I think I have funny jokes.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I think I'm funny. You know, I don't. I don't know.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You know, when do you shoot the because for the audience,
- 2:23Speaker 1: he doesn't know. Um, you know, you a sitcommon from
- 2:27Speaker 1: a live audience. You rehearse for a week or maybe
- 2:31Speaker 1: a pilot longer, and then you eventually bring in an
- 2:33Speaker 1: audience where you have a live audience. In these will
- 2:36Speaker 1: be in the covid Era, there will be a live audience.
- 2:39Speaker 1: The trick is they're up in the stands and you
- 2:42Speaker 1: don't have a lot of people on the floor anymore,
- 2:44Speaker 1: so like you know, hanging out in in video village
- 2:48Speaker 1: and all of that stuff that doesn't exist anymore, right,
- 2:51Speaker 1: But at least you'll have real audience. You know, in
- 2:53Speaker 1: the covid Era, they they were doing things like having
- 2:57Speaker 1: just some of the crew up there, or they would
- 3:00Speaker 1: have a fake laugh track. Um, you know, the fun
- 3:03Speaker 1: of doing a comedy sitcom is having real people laugh.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So that's that's good. You're gonna have that. When do
- 3:09Speaker 1: you When do you do the taping on my birthday
- 3:11Speaker 1: which is Wednesday? Business So I'm working on my breath.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I love to work on my birthday. You know. If
- 3:20Speaker 1: my wife can't come, I'm sorry, baby. You can't come either.
- 3:23Speaker 1: They told you your wife couldn't come. Well, they're saying
- 3:26Speaker 1: she can't be on the floor and she has to
- 3:28Speaker 1: sit in the audience. I'm not trying to send in
- 3:30Speaker 1: the audience. I don't. I didn't think you would want
- 3:32Speaker 1: to do that either, So no, but I just think
- 3:33Speaker 1: it's lame. Like I can test, I'll test, I'll do everything.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I'll enter the protocol of the show. Well, this will
- 3:40Speaker 1: come out the day before my birthday, So let's which
- 3:44Speaker 1: is the day we shoot? What a nice present to
- 3:46Speaker 1: get for your birthday? A pilot. I love working on
- 3:49Speaker 1: my birthday. It's the best. It's I gotta think of
- 3:51Speaker 1: what to get you. You wanted to really know what
- 3:54Speaker 1: to get me? It's gonna be some animated saying that's
- 3:57Speaker 1: I don't want to buy you. Okay, what is it?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Is it something you're gonna be like? I need um
- 4:03Speaker 1: there's a special rig for my animation. There is a
- 4:06Speaker 1: special for a while a while ago, you wanted me
- 4:12Speaker 1: to buy a Ah. You know this company control? No, no, no,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you know a company that makes um an animatable? Is
- 4:23Speaker 1: that the word puppets and uh? And they do likenesses
- 4:27Speaker 1: and you have one the one that you always put
- 4:28Speaker 1: on your Instagram is you, and you were saying that
- 4:30Speaker 1: I needed to get me so you could animate us together, Yes,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and do like the Scrubs. Pretty narcissistic. If my present
- 4:38Speaker 1: to you was an animated puppet of me, it would
- 4:41Speaker 1: be the best gift ever could I could do like
- 4:44Speaker 1: the the I could animate the opening theme song for
- 4:47Speaker 1: our podcast and put it on. All right, So, how
- 4:50Speaker 1: much is it? How much is the puppet? About ten
- 4:52Speaker 1: thousand dollars? Shut the fuck up, I'm dead serious, man,
- 4:55Speaker 1: I had to pay so much money for this puppet.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I look, I'm not buying you a ten doll I mean,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm not buying you a ten thousand dollar birthday present.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I wouldn't ask you to buy me a ten thousand
- 5:05Speaker 1: dollar birthday I know. I didn't think you're gonna say ten.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I thought you might say three. No, that's just not no.
- 5:10Speaker 1: This is there a three version. Mine doesn't have to
- 5:12Speaker 1: be as good as yours. These things last forever, one day,
- 5:18Speaker 1: last forever. Listen to me trying to sell you on it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I'm Donaldson from the Puppet Animation Company. Your Zach Braf
- 5:27Speaker 1: puppet would last forever. Speaking of animation. I'm taking an
- 5:30Speaker 1: animation course with Ardmin right now, and it's a lot
- 5:33Speaker 1: of fun. Man. Uh, you know, I got my animation,
- 5:37Speaker 1: My animations begin, my beginnings over at Stupid Buddy Studios.
- 5:41Speaker 1: And now I'm I'm I'm branching out into the Ardmin world.
- 5:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna kill this flight. It's in my closet. Um,
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm branching out into the Ardmin world, and uh, it's
- 5:54Speaker 1: kind of fun. I'm playing with plastic scene. I'm learning
- 5:57Speaker 1: from you know, the top animators over at Ardment. It's
- 6:01Speaker 1: a lot of you know, you don't get to do
- 6:03Speaker 1: that often. Well, you're you're doing something that's so it's
- 6:08Speaker 1: so interesting to you in such a passion. But even
- 6:11Speaker 1: even even if even that, just the fact that I
- 6:14Speaker 1: was able to get into the academy is great because
- 6:16Speaker 1: they don't let everybody in, and you know, I'm happy
- 6:21Speaker 1: to be a part of it. Well, that's awesome. I'm
- 6:24Speaker 1: in New York. I'm coming home soon. I've been here. Hey,
- 6:28Speaker 1: I was at the Tony's which was a lot of fun.
- 6:31Speaker 1: You look sharp, by the way. It's nice purple blue.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Thank you. I got so much love for that. Tucks.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I gotta tell you, I I used to be such
- 6:38Speaker 1: a conservative dresser, but now I'm trying to spice it
- 6:40Speaker 1: up a little bit and I have. Yeah, I didn't
- 6:42Speaker 1: know what them sneakers you had on at the freaking
- 6:45Speaker 1: panel with Jordan Dirs. Dude, I got dunked on so hard,
- 6:50Speaker 1: so hard. Dude, You're not only dunked on me, but
- 6:52Speaker 1: you grabbed the back of my head and pushed them
- 6:54Speaker 1: into your nuts. It was like, I want everyone to
- 6:57Speaker 1: know that I didn't buy those sneakers. They were present,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and I wouldn't spend that much money on sneakers. I
- 7:02Speaker 1: wouldn't buy dr Nikes, but they are. They were not
- 7:06Speaker 1: Nikes or Jordan's. Okay, I didn't know the technic. I
- 7:11Speaker 1: know they were just d or Nikes. I didn't know
- 7:12Speaker 1: they were they were Jordan Lows. Is that what they are? Yes? Yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 1: they were very They're very beautiful. Yeah, I just wear them. Though.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I guess a lot of people who wear sneaker freaks
- 7:22Speaker 1: would take shoes like that and put them in a
- 7:23Speaker 1: glass case on the on the shelf. But I but
- 7:26Speaker 1: I'm like, I wear them. I mean I don't wear
- 7:28Speaker 1: them everywhere. I don't wear them dog park. Ye, please
- 7:31Speaker 1: don't fucking work those like there, it's a taxicab. Please
- 7:34Speaker 1: don't do that. We don't have Joel today because she's
- 7:37Speaker 1: dealing with some personal matters, but we have DJ Daniel,
- 7:40Speaker 1: who will step up with the extra extra mile today. Daniel,
- 7:45Speaker 1: are you ready? I got my Google searches ready. I
- 7:47Speaker 1: will not fail you this time. Oh, I just wanted
- 7:49Speaker 1: to go back to my suit for one second. Um,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I literally was. I said to them, this is my stylist, like,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I don't want to go full Billy Porter, but let's
- 7:55Speaker 1: do something a little bit brave and uh. And then
- 7:58Speaker 1: I not only ran, not only ran into Billy Porter,
- 8:01Speaker 1: who loved it and commented on it, but ran into RuPaul,
- 8:04Speaker 1: who was like, oh my god, I love that suit.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh my goodness, coming from you, what
- 8:09Speaker 1: do you call this color? All night? I've been trying
- 8:11Speaker 1: to figure it out? He goes, I think it's antique
- 8:14Speaker 1: rose and I love that. Man. I'm literally like sitting
- 8:18Speaker 1: on the on the sidewalk outside of Radio City Music
- 8:21Speaker 1: Hall discussing what the exact shade of my velvet tuxedough
- 8:25Speaker 1: is from with RuPaul. It was pretty cool, was it?
- 8:27Speaker 1: Nice to catch up with Billy Porter. Yeah, I love Billy.
- 8:31Speaker 1: You know, my career start with Billy and he's just
- 8:33Speaker 1: with Broken Hearts Club and he's just taken off. He's
- 8:37Speaker 1: on such fire with his career and he's such a
- 8:39Speaker 1: good person. I just love the whole Broadway community. Man,
- 8:42Speaker 1: it's such a they haven't done the Tonys in a
- 8:44Speaker 1: few years. And to be invited to introduce Spring Awakening,
- 8:47Speaker 1: which was a show I really loved, and be with
- 8:50Speaker 1: all those actors and I just I just I love it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I've been here. I've been here seeing a bunch of
- 8:55Speaker 1: Broadway shows, and I encourage anyone who has the means
- 8:59Speaker 1: and in New York to see a Broadway show. It's
- 9:03Speaker 1: a It's an industry that's really struggling um because of
- 9:05Speaker 1: COVID and is trying to come back. And I just
- 9:09Speaker 1: love it. I grew up doing it with my my father,
- 9:11Speaker 1: going with my father and my parents's I've told you before,
- 9:14Speaker 1: And there's just something magical about seeing live theater and
- 9:18Speaker 1: m and being with all those people at the Tony
- 9:20Speaker 1: was really cool. I have a you know, I don't
- 9:23Speaker 1: know Billy Porter, but I you know, my buddy worked
- 9:27Speaker 1: at the theater that five guys named Mo was at,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and Billy Porter was the understudy for you know, the
- 9:36Speaker 1: one of the five guys, right, And I remember seeing
- 9:40Speaker 1: him in no disrespect to the dude who was doing
- 9:42Speaker 1: the show, but I remember seeing the understudy and being like, yo,
- 9:47Speaker 1: why is that the understudy? Right? And then and then
- 9:52Speaker 1: in the same theater that my buddy was the usher at,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I saw Grease and he played you know, the he
- 9:59Speaker 1: did the number of Beau d school dropout. He does
- 10:01Speaker 1: that number, yeah, and he fucking crushes it. Right. Yeah. Now,
- 10:05Speaker 1: I'm I'm going to matinees on Wednesdays where there's not
- 10:07Speaker 1: a lot of people in the audience for these plays
- 10:09Speaker 1: and stuff like that. But I'm telling you something right now,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I just remember I've won. Billy Porter is such a
- 10:16Speaker 1: part of my Broadway experience because of you know, the
- 10:20Speaker 1: limited shows that I did get to see. He was
- 10:22Speaker 1: in two of them, and he was so wonderful and
- 10:25Speaker 1: he was so powerful. It was like, yeah, you know
- 10:27Speaker 1: he's in he's in insane talent and and and you know,
- 10:30Speaker 1: when we were doing Broken Hearts Club together, he had
- 10:34Speaker 1: he just had He's the ultimate example of a whiteboarding
- 10:37Speaker 1: kind of person man. Nobody I know had more had
- 10:40Speaker 1: bigger designs than Billy and big plans, and he's made
- 10:45Speaker 1: it all happen. And I said to him, there day,
- 10:47Speaker 1: I go you better. I hope you're resetting your your goals, man,
- 10:50Speaker 1: because you've accomplished everything that we were talking about when
- 10:53Speaker 1: we were you know, in ninety nine. You know you've
- 10:55Speaker 1: made it all happen and more so, he's a great person. Anyway,
- 11:00Speaker 1: let's get in the show. Donald count us in seven
- 11:03Speaker 1: eight stories about show. We made a n stories yead
- 11:17Speaker 1: around here yea around so last week it was cool.
- 11:27Speaker 1: You guys got to hear the panel we did in Austin.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We had a really fun time doing that, right, Donald
- 11:33Speaker 1: was so great to see everybody. It made me miss
- 11:35Speaker 1: miss them all so much because I see Donald and
- 11:38Speaker 1: I see Bill, but I don't really see much of
- 11:40Speaker 1: the others in real life that much. It's really nice
- 11:43Speaker 1: to see It was great to see Neil, it was
- 11:45Speaker 1: great to see Johnny. It was great to see Judy.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It was great to touch them, you know what I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and and field their presence instead of just seeing it
- 11:52Speaker 1: over his zoom. And then of course it was awesome
- 11:54Speaker 1: to see Sarah. Sarah flew and early and the three
- 11:56Speaker 1: of us got to hang out and in typical Sarah
- 11:59Speaker 1: Chalk fashion, Yeah, she gets stuck in the elevator. Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 1: We were anticipating, like we told you guys, there's always
- 12:05Speaker 1: some story, and we were anticipating, like, Okay, what is
- 12:08Speaker 1: the thing going to be? And they were like there
- 12:10Speaker 1: was no, there was nothing, and we're like, this is
- 12:12Speaker 1: a little weird, Like Sarah has flown from Canada to Austin,
- 12:15Speaker 1: Texas and has had no crazy story of or anything.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Sarah chalk esk. And then we're all going, the three
- 12:23Speaker 1: of us are going to dinner with my agent and
- 12:28Speaker 1: and Sarah's not coming. We're like, where is she? Where
- 12:30Speaker 1: is she? And we gotta FaceTime. We got one of
- 12:32Speaker 1: those dual facetimes. And I'm stuck in the elevator and
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm claustrophobic in the elevator and I've and I just
- 12:40Speaker 1: I just realized I'm claustrophobic. Yes no, but she wasn't
- 12:44Speaker 1: like jokey about she just you guys, understand this. This
- 12:46Speaker 1: hotel is nine thousand years old and the elevator stopped.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I need you to tell that. And this hotel was
- 12:51Speaker 1: so old, and it had so many different banks of elevators.
- 12:54Speaker 1: So she's like, tell him, I'm in the one that's
- 12:56Speaker 1: over by the bar, you know, like freaking out, and
- 13:01Speaker 1: they couldn't find it. And then there were and then
- 13:04Speaker 1: there were all these people that she kept pushing the
- 13:06Speaker 1: emergency button and all every every panic button, and there
- 13:11Speaker 1: were all these people asking me to sign Funco pops.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And I was like, which, you know, by the way,
- 13:15Speaker 1: I had only until Austin signed one Funco pop. And
- 13:19Speaker 1: I want to tell the guy who I signed it for.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That happened during the pandemic. Remember when we talked about it. Well,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I've I've now signed nine zillion because those fans, the
- 13:30Speaker 1: fans at the convention has dropped. Yes, I'm sorry. Your
- 13:34Speaker 1: stock is like bitcoin, it is in the toilet because
- 13:37Speaker 1: I signed a lot of them. I mean, I can't
- 13:40Speaker 1: say no to people I feel I want to. I
- 13:43Speaker 1: want everyone to have a signed fun So here's the thing.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Here's the thing. When you signed those things for autograph
- 13:49Speaker 1: seekers and you're signing a bunch of them, they're just
- 13:52Speaker 1: gonna go out and sell your sick I know. But
- 13:54Speaker 1: here's the thing. I can't tell or do I have
- 13:56Speaker 1: the time to tell the difference between a genuine fan
- 13:59Speaker 1: and someone who's just trying to make a bark. A
- 14:02Speaker 1: genuine fan isn't going to ask you for your autograph.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Yes they will, That's not true. Someone who loves the
- 14:07Speaker 1: show and has a scrubs funko pop might ask me
- 14:10Speaker 1: to sign it, as I did with the very first one.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I agree with you that many of these people are
- 14:16Speaker 1: just businessmen and women who are going to try and
- 14:19Speaker 1: sell them on eBay. But what's it worth? Like ten dollars?
- 14:21Speaker 1: I don't I don't know what. What I remember asking
- 14:24Speaker 1: somebody for an autograph when I was a kid and
- 14:26Speaker 1: then realizing after I got the autograph that what the
- 14:29Speaker 1: fuck was I going to do with it? You know
- 14:31Speaker 1: what I did? I went to a net. I'm not
- 14:34Speaker 1: going to stare at that shit like I'm like, It's
- 14:36Speaker 1: not a fucking iPad screen or iPhone screen where you
- 14:41Speaker 1: just stare at it mindlessly. Like what I want to
- 14:45Speaker 1: tell you A funny story. The first one of the
- 14:46Speaker 1: first celebrities I've ever seen in real life was Cadeem
- 14:49Speaker 1: Harris artisan Hartistan, Dwayne Wayne, Yes, Dwayne Wayne, and I
- 14:54Speaker 1: was at a Nets game, and I saw him, and
- 14:55Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, a real life celebrity,
- 14:59Speaker 1: not only a real life celebrity, the best celebrity. He
- 15:01Speaker 1: was one of the best, okay, but he was at
- 15:04Speaker 1: the height of his fame. And they had placed a
- 15:06Speaker 1: guard next to him because so many people were bothering him.
- 15:10Speaker 1: But I was trying to summon the courage I'd never ran,
- 15:13Speaker 1: never seen a celebrity in real life, let alone, like,
- 15:15Speaker 1: are you going to have the balls to ask for
- 15:17Speaker 1: an autograph? And I did, and he looked so pissed.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And when he scratched on that piece of paper, it
- 15:24Speaker 1: didn't look like Kadem Hardison. It didn't look like anything.
- 15:28Speaker 1: It looked like it looked like scribble. But the subtitles
- 15:32Speaker 1: under the scribbles said fuck off, kid. Well, Kadem is
- 15:36Speaker 1: a sweetheart and it is a great person. And I'm
- 15:39Speaker 1: sure if you yeah, I'm sure, if you still wanted
- 15:42Speaker 1: that autograph, he'd hook it up. Kadeem, if you listen,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I would like a real autograph and if you could
- 15:47Speaker 1: sign it more clearly. But let me tell you what
- 15:49Speaker 1: they did. This is so dorky. This is this answers
- 15:51Speaker 1: your question because I didn't know what to do with it? Right,
- 15:54Speaker 1: So I brought her home and I was treating it
- 15:56Speaker 1: like it was like like it was a gold bar.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I didn't I well, the Charlie and the chocolate factory ticket,
- 16:03Speaker 1: and I didn't know how shoul I display it on
- 16:06Speaker 1: my wall. So I put it in a ziplock bag.
- 16:09Speaker 1: And then I put took a thumbtack and I put
- 16:11Speaker 1: a thumbtacked it into the wall as like a display
- 16:14Speaker 1: of artdeem Hardistan's autograph. If I had any friends over,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I could brag that I had a codeem Hardistan's autograph.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I didn't look like anything other than someone scribbling something. Yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 1: this weekend, this last week, So my kids in basketball camp, right,
- 16:34Speaker 1: and he's at a spot where a lot of NBA
- 16:37Speaker 1: players come through, and Kevin Durant was there right, speaking
- 16:40Speaker 1: of the nets, and you know, I got to introduce
- 16:46Speaker 1: my kid to Kevin Durant, right, And that was the
- 16:49Speaker 1: moment where it was like, what's my kid gonna ask
- 16:52Speaker 1: for from this guy? In my mind, I'm thinking, what's
- 16:55Speaker 1: he gonna say to freaking Kevin Durant. That's gonna be
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know what I mean, that's gonna show that he's
- 17:00Speaker 1: a fan, and so I go, Kevin, can I introduce
- 17:04Speaker 1: you to my son and my kid? And he goes, yeah, absolutely, man,
- 17:08Speaker 1: And the smile on Rocco's face when he meets Kevin
- 17:12Speaker 1: Durant is like, it's the real deal. I wish I
- 17:14Speaker 1: had a camera because you know how you want your
- 17:16Speaker 1: kids to smile when they take a pick. Well, you
- 17:19Speaker 1: guys don't know, but when you want your kids to
- 17:20Speaker 1: smile to take a picture and they give you that
- 17:22Speaker 1: fake shit, it always pisses you off. Right, They're horrible.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Kids are horrible at fake smiles. Right, this is the genuine,
- 17:28Speaker 1: real deal, holy feeling. It's beautiful. And I'm like, this
- 17:31Speaker 1: motherfucker is glowing right now. Look at him right, look
- 17:34Speaker 1: at him shining in front of Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant
- 17:36Speaker 1: asked him a bunch of questions and everything, and then
- 17:39Speaker 1: Kevin Durant looks down at his sneakers and he has
- 17:42Speaker 1: on Jannis and to the Kompo's kids, and Kevin goes, yo,
- 17:49Speaker 1: what's up with your kicks? Man? And Rocco. I could
- 17:53Speaker 1: see in Rocco's face He's like, oh right, and Kevin goes,
- 17:59Speaker 1: don't worry about a kid. I'm a blame your father,
- 18:04Speaker 1: And I go, yes, yeah, I'll take the blame. I'll
- 18:06Speaker 1: take the blame. Don't you know we went out and
- 18:08Speaker 1: got to pay Kevin Durant. Yes, he signed a boy
- 18:10Speaker 1: goes and runs in the kids. I wasn't even wearing
- 18:12Speaker 1: he should be wearing the one's eyes on him. Well,
- 18:15Speaker 1: you gave him the Lebron space jams man. Yeah, you
- 18:18Speaker 1: can't wear those. Aren't those good? No? He could wear them,
- 18:20Speaker 1: he had already outgrown those. Oh man, wow, does he
- 18:24Speaker 1: want to wear my air d or Jordan? What depends
- 18:29Speaker 1: on what size you are, but I'm sure he would. No,
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm in ten. He doesn't fit the ten. What size?
- 18:34Speaker 1: He's little. He's a young boy. He's not that yet.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Let's get in the show scrubs Donald Phase on My
- 18:39Speaker 1: Words of Wisdom, written by Eric Weinberg and directed by
- 18:43Speaker 1: Victor Nelly Junior. I thought Eric Weinberg had left by
- 18:46Speaker 1: this point, and um, maybe I don't know, I guess not.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Or maybe he left and came back to write one
- 18:53Speaker 1: or something I forgot. Yeah, if do you notice George
- 18:56Speaker 1: Wallace is back as the Preacher. I didn't realize that
- 18:59Speaker 1: he was a recurring roll on its scrubs. I forgot
- 19:01Speaker 1: that he was on before. But he's very funny. It's
- 19:04Speaker 1: the preacher, yes he is. Other times he's every time
- 19:07Speaker 1: we're in that church, he's the preacher. Okay, well he's
- 19:10Speaker 1: very he did a very good job. And um, Jordan
- 19:13Speaker 1: and has officially made a cox named the child's Jennifer
- 19:19Speaker 1: dan Ak j D. Yeah, and and JD walks into
- 19:24Speaker 1: the funeral rejoicing, yes, singing, it's a beautiful moaning. I'm
- 19:30Speaker 1: not realizing that he's walked into the carrying of the
- 19:33Speaker 1: casket and not being very sensitive to LaVerne's funeral, which
- 19:38Speaker 1: is a big problem for Carla throughout this whole episode.
- 19:40Speaker 1: She feels everyone in the hospital is just forgetting about
- 19:46Speaker 1: Laverne a little too soon. I know. I remember feeling
- 19:49Speaker 1: that with myself with with death. Every time a death happens,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you you you are so upset, and of course you
- 19:57Speaker 1: have grief, But then you see people getting back to
- 19:59Speaker 1: their normal I live so quickly and you're like, wow,
- 20:02Speaker 1: it's fucked up. How quickly people move on? Yeah. I
- 20:06Speaker 1: remember at some self help retreat or workshop I did,
- 20:10Speaker 1: someone said one of the most powerful things I've ever said.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Maybe I've said it here on the podcast, but they said,
- 20:15Speaker 1: you know, when you die, people are gonna be very upset.
- 20:18Speaker 1: They're gonna go to your funeral, they're gonna cry, they're
- 20:21Speaker 1: gonna hold each other, they're gonna sob, and then they're
- 20:26Speaker 1: gonna go eat lunch. Yeah. Yeah, and life goes on,
- 20:35Speaker 1: and you know, it's I feel I remember with Nick's
- 20:39Speaker 1: death feeling so guilty that I was like there, I
- 20:42Speaker 1: was like on the treadmill and doing sit ups and
- 20:44Speaker 1: like my life was just going on and I started
- 20:48Speaker 1: crying one day. I was like, it's just so upset
- 20:51Speaker 1: by how quickly, you know, people just start returning to
- 20:56Speaker 1: the normal life. So my, my, that's a long winded
- 20:58Speaker 1: way of saying I really identified with with Carlo's experiencing. Um.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Granted it's exaggerated because it's literally like the day of
- 21:05Speaker 1: LaVerne's funeral, everyone is, but you know it's a hospital.
- 21:09Speaker 1: They go back to work. Yeah. Jendie imagines his own funeral,
- 21:14Speaker 1: which was very funny. In his own funeral, he mentions
- 21:17Speaker 1: that the gospel choir is singing party all the time.
- 21:19Speaker 1: By Eddie Murphy By Eddie Murphy and Rick James. Bitch
- 21:23Speaker 1: Oh they wrote it together. That's a Rick James song. Man,
- 21:26Speaker 1: Come on bro oh, so you're saying he wrote it
- 21:28Speaker 1: and Eddie just performed its. Nick James is even in
- 21:33Speaker 1: the song. He's the one that Actra party she Axtra
- 21:37Speaker 1: party down. Eddie Murphy was legit trying to launch a
- 21:42Speaker 1: music career when we were young. He has some bops
- 21:45Speaker 1: he has he has that Party all the Time is
- 21:47Speaker 1: a bop. I'm gonna what anybody says, That's what I'm do.
- 21:49Speaker 1: You remember Michael Jackson not so much? What's up? What's up?
- 21:54Speaker 1: What's up with you? Was there a full album? I
- 21:58Speaker 1: don't remember. I just remember up your butt, put a
- 22:01Speaker 1: big house your butt? So was it a comedy? Was
- 22:05Speaker 1: it was the album like a comedy album? No? He
- 22:07Speaker 1: was really trying to sing. Yeah. See that's the thing.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Like I was confused. I remember being like I loved
- 22:12Speaker 1: him so much, but I was like, is this like
- 22:15Speaker 1: are these comedic songs or is he really going for it?
- 22:18Speaker 1: I felt like he was really going for it. Party
- 22:20Speaker 1: all the Time is a real gym that he was
- 22:22Speaker 1: trying to put out. Dog that shit bops? Can I
- 22:24Speaker 1: remember the video. I do remember the video. He's smiling
- 22:27Speaker 1: and laughing with Rick James in the video many time,
- 22:34Speaker 1: party all the time? I forgotten the song. If he is,
- 22:36Speaker 1: if he's um upset about his girl wanting to party
- 22:40Speaker 1: all the time, don't give a shit, he don't care.
- 22:43Speaker 1: I don't know the lyrics to the song. If he
- 22:45Speaker 1: if he's if he's against it or supportive of her
- 22:49Speaker 1: desire to party all the time. Well, I'm I'm I'm
- 22:52Speaker 1: gonna say that he's not. Really can you assess from
- 22:55Speaker 1: the leader's celebrating if he's celebrate eating this, I imagine that.
- 23:01Speaker 1: I imagine that it's an expensive habit and he's, oh yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 1: party and it's dam he doesn't want to, you know,
- 23:10Speaker 1: some night's honey, we gotta go home and watch TV.
- 23:13Speaker 1: We're not going to be out drinking chrystal every night?
- 23:16Speaker 1: Is that what it is? Daniel? Yeah, pretty much. I
- 23:18Speaker 1: mean that's the the opening lyrics. Girl, I can't understand it.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Why you want to hurt me? After all the things
- 23:23Speaker 1: I've done for you. I buy you champagne and roses,
- 23:26Speaker 1: put diamonds on your finger, diamonds on your finger? Still
- 23:28Speaker 1: you want to hang out all night. What am I
- 23:30Speaker 1: to do my girl? It's expensive having a girl that
- 23:38Speaker 1: all the time. That's hilarious. All right, well then that's
- 23:43Speaker 1: funny the picture. How about the picture at my funeral
- 23:45Speaker 1: with my hands on my face? And then the casket
- 23:50Speaker 1: is propped up because JD's final wish is to hug
- 23:55Speaker 1: everyone one more time, and Elliott says, you were the
- 23:58Speaker 1: only one I never faked it with. Again, this is
- 24:00Speaker 1: Jad's you know, daydream, And then he finally gets Cox.
- 24:04Speaker 1: It turns out within the fantasy, he faked his death
- 24:07Speaker 1: right just to finally get Cox to hug him. And
- 24:11Speaker 1: then Cox snaps his neck, so he's really dead. And
- 24:16Speaker 1: then we come back and I turned to Kelson when
- 24:18Speaker 1: I go, and then we'd have my real funeral? What
- 24:24Speaker 1: are you an idiot? Like? No, sir, I'm a dreamer.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Now what do you what do you call it? Like?
- 24:30Speaker 1: Is a meme? I know what a meme is, Daniel.
- 24:32Speaker 1: But if it's just like a picture with the dialogue
- 24:34Speaker 1: that happened in that moment, is that still a meme?
- 24:38Speaker 1: That's I think a gift is the one that's electrical
- 24:41Speaker 1: right now, but it's just universal, like a meme is
- 24:43Speaker 1: like any picture with the words on it. These days,
- 24:46Speaker 1: it's to connote an emotion. It's like it's like the
- 24:49Speaker 1: image is the the idea is the image in the
- 24:51Speaker 1: text or whatever. It connotes a feeling that is universal.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And okay, well that quote look at the big brains
- 24:57Speaker 1: on Daniel Dan Well, Daniel knows his um the that
- 25:02Speaker 1: that that meme is one of the most often scrubs
- 25:05Speaker 1: memes I've ever seen. For some reason, someone at some
- 25:07Speaker 1: point made it black and white and I always see
- 25:11Speaker 1: me and kelso are you an idiot? No, sir, I'm
- 25:15Speaker 1: it's a great line, it really is it. Yeah, it
- 25:17Speaker 1: ends the cold open. It's that funny um So, Carla
- 25:21Speaker 1: again is upset. Everyone's moving on. Um Cox has decided,
- 25:25Speaker 1: Oh because um the preacher. No wait, that was another
- 25:29Speaker 1: funny part. Did we can I get an amen? Amen?
- 25:34Speaker 1: Can I get a m m mmmm? Just go? Can
- 25:36Speaker 1: I get amen? Amen? And then by right, that's where
- 25:41Speaker 1: she got it from. From church, From church she got
- 25:45Speaker 1: her famous um Cox's storyline is that he wants twenty
- 25:52Speaker 1: minutes to himself. Oh because sorry, because the preacher in
- 25:57Speaker 1: his sermon mentioned I want you to all find twenty
- 26:01Speaker 1: minutes to to just for yourself so you can appreciate
- 26:07Speaker 1: yourself right to do so, just to appreciate life, appreciate
- 26:11Speaker 1: the appreciate you know, like you know when people it's
- 26:14Speaker 1: it's a shame that we don't realize how precious life
- 26:17Speaker 1: is and how much we need to check in with ourselves.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Until someone dies. We run ourselves ragged, you know what
- 26:23Speaker 1: I mean? Healthy? Yeah, we eat unhealthy, we freaking we
- 26:28Speaker 1: we uh, you know, stress a lot. We put ourselves
- 26:34Speaker 1: in situations that are very dangerous, and we don't realize
- 26:37Speaker 1: that we're doing it until after somebody passes away and
- 26:41Speaker 1: the preacher's saying, you know what this moment that you're
- 26:43Speaker 1: feeling right now, this feeling of you know, she's too
- 26:47Speaker 1: young to have gone, and note, you know, life is
- 26:51Speaker 1: precious and you need to realize that every day and
- 26:54Speaker 1: just take twenty minutes a day to to to check
- 26:57Speaker 1: in with yourself and appreciate life. And so that's what
- 27:00Speaker 1: Cox is trying to do. He takes that literally yes,
- 27:04Speaker 1: um and um, and he gets it constantly interrupted throughout
- 27:08Speaker 1: the episode, and he even builds a pantomime glass box
- 27:12Speaker 1: around himself in the in the Doctor's what do you
- 27:17Speaker 1: call it lounge and everyone and everyone comes and is
- 27:21Speaker 1: constantly interrupting him, and Kelso's kind of watching the whole time,
- 27:24Speaker 1: and he later calls him out on it, saying, you
- 27:27Speaker 1: love it. That's your thing is stop complaining about you know,
- 27:32Speaker 1: stop putting on this act that you your whole Your
- 27:34Speaker 1: whole thing is that you love to be needed as
- 27:36Speaker 1: much as as you are needed by these young people.
- 27:39Speaker 1: You he calls bullshit on it. He's like, you love
- 27:42Speaker 1: being needed, You love being the one they go to.
- 27:44Speaker 1: You love being a teacher essentially, um, even though your
- 27:48Speaker 1: whole stick is that you are grumpy about it. And
- 27:52Speaker 1: it's also planning to see that he's going to take
- 27:54Speaker 1: over soon and Kelso's not going to work at the
- 27:57Speaker 1: hospital anymore. Yeah, I noticed Kelso was like, first of all,
- 27:59Speaker 1: it was like Kels was reading paper a lot in
- 28:01Speaker 1: this episode. And then he's later we'll get to it,
- 28:03Speaker 1: but he's watching Keith and Elliott fight like it's a
- 28:06Speaker 1: soap opera, and uh, it's funny because he could be
- 28:10Speaker 1: in his office, but he's kind of like he's kind
- 28:13Speaker 1: of like not doing anything really doctorally, but he's just
- 28:16Speaker 1: just just kind of leaning back like a retired guy
- 28:18Speaker 1: with his newspaper. He's he's already retired. In his mind,
- 28:21Speaker 1: he's already retired. He's just he retire in the season.
- 28:24Speaker 1: And the next season I think this is the Yeah.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Well and the next season he's at the coffee bucks
- 28:28Speaker 1: all the time. Yeah, I think he might start to retire.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But anyway, I also felt like they were softening him
- 28:33Speaker 1: a tiny bit because he was he He wasn't a
- 28:37Speaker 1: total prick in this one. He was. It almost felt
- 28:40Speaker 1: like the strategy was, let's begin to soften him, almost
- 28:44Speaker 1: like they were prepping you. You would you would kind
- 28:46Speaker 1: of call that out, like, yeah, I think a while
- 28:48Speaker 1: ago you'd said, like, at a certain point, they begin
- 28:51Speaker 1: to soften him, to make him a likable instead of
- 28:54Speaker 1: this fucking horrible racist personality and and horrible dude. They
- 29:00Speaker 1: begin to soften his character a bit. I have a
- 29:02Speaker 1: question Lonnie's still an intern dude, Like Lonnie still needs help.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Hasn't Lonnie been there since the beginning with US? I
- 29:11Speaker 1: don't think Lonnie ever progressed. He's like one of those
- 29:13Speaker 1: like like seventh year seniors, Doug progress, Lonnie can't progrett Doug.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Doug may have left his phone in a loma when
- 29:23Speaker 1: he did the autopsy. Yeah, he might, he says, do
- 29:27Speaker 1: you think if I call it? He goes, never mind.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Let's speak for a minute. I say, Johnny Castle's wife
- 29:32Speaker 1: just reached out to me because there's all of this
- 29:35Speaker 1: hoopla about us doing a Scrubs reunion that we talked about.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But Donald announced that the Uh I didn't announce that shit.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Bill announced that ship. Well, it's so funny. We obviously
- 29:45Speaker 1: you knew that. We knew that press. We're gonna write
- 29:47Speaker 1: on it because they were there. But um, and we
- 29:49Speaker 1: don't know what it is yet, but so um, but
- 29:52Speaker 1: we did it right, So we don't. We don't, We
- 29:55Speaker 1: have no idea what it is yet, but we all
- 29:58Speaker 1: want to do it with something and we've been saying
- 30:00Speaker 1: in so many words forever, but um, but Bill has
- 30:02Speaker 1: now officially said it. And Hulu, you know, because it
- 30:06Speaker 1: was a Disney show, a Disney property, it would likely
- 30:10Speaker 1: be on Hulu or Disney Plus or both. I don't know.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Let's take a break. We'll be right back after these
- 30:16Speaker 1: fine words. Let's speak for a minute on cochlear implants,
- 30:26Speaker 1: because that was a very is a very controversial thing
- 30:28Speaker 1: and Joel pointed out that, and I didn't understand this.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Actually the Sound of Mail. Did you see that movie? Donald?
- 30:35Speaker 1: They have a that's an amazing film that I highly
- 30:38Speaker 1: recommend down. Did you see that? I have not, But
- 30:40Speaker 1: I'm a big risk fan, so I really wants amazing.
- 30:44Speaker 1: That movie is brilliant and and and and expresses the
- 30:47Speaker 1: debate on this topic in the deaf community better than
- 30:50Speaker 1: we ever could. But I just did want to point
- 30:52Speaker 1: out that we were a bit cavalier when we were
- 30:55Speaker 1: in this episode about it, and so I just wanted
- 30:57Speaker 1: to read one thing on scrubs WICKI I read, and
- 30:59Speaker 1: then one thing that Joel sent me again forgive us
- 31:03Speaker 1: because we don't know too much on this subject and
- 31:05Speaker 1: we didn't write the episode, but just on Wiki, it
- 31:08Speaker 1: says the subplot about the deaf child provoked ire in
- 31:11Speaker 1: some deaf internet communities because it neglected to mention the
- 31:13Speaker 1: debate surrounding cochlear implants the culturally deaf, a community of
- 31:19Speaker 1: which the father seems apart, disdaining cochlear implants, regarding them
- 31:23Speaker 1: as selling out into the greater hearing culture. In recent years, however,
- 31:29Speaker 1: the deaf community has become more tolerant of deaf people
- 31:31Speaker 1: with cochlear implants. Whoever, the story still presents some medical objections.
- 31:35Speaker 1: There was no reference to an audiological consult, which would
- 31:38Speaker 1: be necessary before any procedure could be undergone. Furthermore, ideal
- 31:42Speaker 1: candidates are slightly younger than this boy who appears five
- 31:45Speaker 1: or six. And Finally, audiologists still do not consider cochlear
- 31:50Speaker 1: implants as an ideal solution, nor one appropriate in all cases,
- 31:55Speaker 1: and it would be clinically irresponsible to go behind the
- 31:57Speaker 1: father's back to get the child implanted, regardless of the
- 32:02Speaker 1: visitation status. So yeah, even even not understanding that debate
- 32:06Speaker 1: within the community, I was like, they're going behind the
- 32:08Speaker 1: father's wishes. It seems that seems bizarre. Didn't it to
- 32:12Speaker 1: you as well? Or no, Well, I don't know much
- 32:16Speaker 1: about you know. I definitely think they thought they were
- 32:19Speaker 1: doing the right thing by they thought that the child
- 32:23Speaker 1: was being neglected, especially if you can make it so
- 32:26Speaker 1: the kid could hear right now, The writers should have
- 32:32Speaker 1: done a little research on the controversy of this, uh
- 32:35Speaker 1: and probably had it explained a bit more to the audience,
- 32:38Speaker 1: because like the sound I didn't really fully understand the
- 32:40Speaker 1: debate until I saw the movie which I again highly recommend,
- 32:45Speaker 1: called The Sound of Metal, in which it is pretty
- 32:46Speaker 1: well discussed. But yeah, I think they they missed they
- 32:50Speaker 1: missed it a bit here with the with the deaf community,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and you know what, I think they were trying to
- 32:55Speaker 1: shine a light on it too, and it just I
- 32:58Speaker 1: think it just fell a little short. I would the
- 33:03Speaker 1: going behind the father's back is the problem. Yeah, like
- 33:06Speaker 1: the mother, Like, first of all, the mother's not there.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Like maybe if the mother was there and they had
- 33:13Speaker 1: gotten into a debate about the pros and cons and
- 33:16Speaker 1: JD and Turk had learned something that they didn't know,
- 33:19Speaker 1: but they didn't learn anything. They didn't learn anything. No,
- 33:22Speaker 1: they didn't learn anything. In fact, the father sort of
- 33:24Speaker 1: acquiesces and said, I was just trying to hold on
- 33:26Speaker 1: to our special bond and and and then we end.
- 33:30Speaker 1: You know, so anyway, um, we're going to talk about
- 33:34Speaker 1: that stuff. But I wanted to acknowledge that controversial subject
- 33:37Speaker 1: and that we know about it and we didn't write it,
- 33:41Speaker 1: but we see now how it could have been a
- 33:44Speaker 1: little bit better for the audience and for America. You know,
- 33:49Speaker 1: it was really interesting speaking of controversial that Obi Wan
- 33:53Speaker 1: this week had a before the show starts. Wait, are
- 33:56Speaker 1: you going to give a spoiler before that? No, I'm
- 33:59Speaker 1: not going to spoil before the show starts. Yes, it says,
- 34:04Speaker 1: the following episode may contain that's sorry, the following fictional
- 34:10Speaker 1: episode may contain images that might be disturbing to viewers. Okay,
- 34:20Speaker 1: I have never seen that before where they had to
- 34:23Speaker 1: explain that a fictional episode of television something that's not
- 34:29Speaker 1: real might That's like saying, when you go see Raiders
- 34:36Speaker 1: at a Lost Start, at the end of the movie,
- 34:38Speaker 1: something's gonna have heart will be pulled out. It's not
- 34:41Speaker 1: a real heart, right, but wait, there must something there
- 34:45Speaker 1: must have without any spoilers, there must have been something
- 34:47Speaker 1: in the episode because young children are watching it? Is that?
- 34:50Speaker 1: Why did you? Was there anything that you satan? Okay?
- 34:53Speaker 1: So look, if you're a fan of Star Wars, you
- 34:55Speaker 1: know about what happens to the Jedi, right, That's just
- 35:00Speaker 1: how it is. If you know what happens after Revenge
- 35:03Speaker 1: of the Sith, after Order sixty six, you know what
- 35:06Speaker 1: happens to the Jedi, and you know that no one
- 35:10Speaker 1: is spared, No Jedi is spared. If you've been watching
- 35:14Speaker 1: Obi Wan, you know that no Jedi is spared. They're
- 35:17Speaker 1: telling you, did you like the episode? Yeah? You know what.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I genuinely like the show man, do you think? I
- 35:25Speaker 1: don't think so. Why will I get a Lego set?
- 35:29Speaker 1: All I wanted? You'll definitely get a Lego set because
- 35:32Speaker 1: that carriers pretty dope. Okay? No, will I get a
- 35:35Speaker 1: Funko pop? Maybe? Shit? I don't know, motherfucker. I don't
- 35:38Speaker 1: work for Lucas. I just want you to help me
- 35:41Speaker 1: manifest it. I don't have a whiteboard here in New
- 35:43Speaker 1: York whiteboard, Zach, you want me to write on my
- 35:49Speaker 1: right this motherfucker. Now, I'm pushing it too far. I'm sorry,
- 35:55Speaker 1: but no, but sincerely, man, So you know that there
- 35:58Speaker 1: are things that happen in this world. This is why
- 36:02Speaker 1: I love it. It really is a play on like
- 36:05Speaker 1: the underground Railroad. It's a play on the Holocaust. It's
- 36:08Speaker 1: a play on a lot of these horrible things that
- 36:11Speaker 1: have happened to humans in real life, you know, and
- 36:15Speaker 1: they've now brought it into Star Wars. Somebody also said
- 36:19Speaker 1: that all of this is based on every episode of
- 36:24Speaker 1: Star Wars so far up to episode six, and you
- 36:28Speaker 1: can find similarity a similarity from the first episode all
- 36:34Speaker 1: the way so far they'd be at Empire strikes back
- 36:36Speaker 1: right now. It matches kind of like the what's going
- 36:41Speaker 1: on in some way? Wow? Interesting. I met the writer
- 36:44Speaker 1: when we returned. When I landed in JFK from Austin,
- 36:47Speaker 1: I met the writer who wrote them all baggage claim
- 36:52Speaker 1: and he I guess he was the TV Festival and
- 36:55Speaker 1: I quickly reminded him that Frek was not dead. All right,
- 37:02Speaker 1: let's get back to the show. Donald Um. It turns
- 37:05Speaker 1: out the janitor knows sign language fluently. We don't know how.
- 37:10Speaker 1: He has a very elaborate story about befriending a gorilla.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I think it was the Hoboken Zoo, was it, Yes,
- 37:19Speaker 1: And they only had a few words that the janitor
- 37:22Speaker 1: learned from the gorilla, and he used to give him cigarettes.
- 37:26Speaker 1: The janitor would give the gorilla cigarettes and then gorilla
- 37:30Speaker 1: died from lung cancer. Yes, And that the gorilla also
- 37:34Speaker 1: he learned the sign language from the gorilla as he
- 37:36Speaker 1: began to expand his vocabulary. That the gorilla liked big
- 37:40Speaker 1: and his boobs, big and hairy. And then the Todd
- 37:44Speaker 1: The Todd comes in and goes join the club player,
- 37:50Speaker 1: he goes get out of here. That's Todd's only line
- 37:53Speaker 1: in the show is commenting on liking hairy breasts. Do
- 37:56Speaker 1: you know how many times he ran that line too? Yeah? Joined,
- 38:00Speaker 1: the club player joined the join, the club player joined,
- 38:03Speaker 1: the club player joined the club player. Joiner joined the
- 38:08Speaker 1: club player joint, and then they're that's too big roun joint.
- 38:12Speaker 1: The club player joined the club player. That's it. I'm
- 38:16Speaker 1: gonna lock that in. I'm gonna lock that one in, yo.
- 38:23Speaker 1: But he always nailed it, all right. So Elliott and
- 38:26Speaker 1: Keith are at a crossroads. Yeah you know, um, and
- 38:34Speaker 1: this is where the show gets weird because I thought
- 38:37Speaker 1: she was going to break up with him, not because
- 38:40Speaker 1: I like they're really in love. I mean, I don't know.
- 38:43Speaker 1: The writers really made a decision. They were like, we're
- 38:45Speaker 1: gonna keep her with Keith, We're not gonna start another
- 38:47Speaker 1: relationship with her. But she and then and then and
- 38:51Speaker 1: then was it was it Carlo who says, you're you're
- 38:54Speaker 1: just doing what you always do since Jad hurt you,
- 38:58Speaker 1: you're afraid and so you're running away. But I don't
- 39:02Speaker 1: I their relationship is strictly based on fucking though. Yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 1: and also like bizarre fucking. That's the whole storyline, is
- 39:10Speaker 1: their bizarre fucking. There's another one in this one where
- 39:12Speaker 1: they she's coming up with a whole elaborate they love
- 39:15Speaker 1: role play. I mean they are deep into roll bloy.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I love Elliot for that too. Yeah, it's Elliot's my
- 39:23Speaker 1: type of lady, Yeah, Elliott. And Elliott's for the one
- 39:26Speaker 1: who's like coming up with these elaborate scenarios. She's initiating it.
- 39:30Speaker 1: She's really become very horny. Yeah yeah yeah yeah, so
- 39:38Speaker 1: um sorr, I appreciate that. So so Elliott is Elliott's
- 39:44Speaker 1: announces in the cafeteria that she's fine with Keith skipping
- 39:47Speaker 1: their anniversary, and all the men in the cafeteria gather around.
- 39:50Speaker 1: They can't believe this. They're like, what is Yeah, you
- 39:53Speaker 1: don't care, He's going to Vegas on your anniversary And
- 39:56Speaker 1: they just can't believe it. And and Ted Lawyer says,
- 40:00Speaker 1: if only you were forty years older. He has an
- 40:03Speaker 1: old lady fetish man. Well, he's kind of obsessed with
- 40:06Speaker 1: his mom, right, I mean, well, he's just obsessed with
- 40:08Speaker 1: old ladies. It's his mom is his, His mom is his.
- 40:12Speaker 1: He wants a woman just like mom, but he wants
- 40:14Speaker 1: her the same age. Yes, yes, he wants her just
- 40:19Speaker 1: like mom, Mom, if only you were forty years older. Yeah,
- 40:25Speaker 1: he likes old ladies. Man like the guilt. He got
- 40:28Speaker 1: guilt issues to each their own. Keith, on the other hand,
- 40:31Speaker 1: is really not happy because he was a test. He
- 40:34Speaker 1: doesn't want to go. It was a test to see
- 40:36Speaker 1: how into the relationship Elliott really is and he feels
- 40:40Speaker 1: like she failed the tests. Yeah, and Kelso's like, you're
- 40:43Speaker 1: a nagger? And then out of nowhere Snoop Dog Residents
- 40:47Speaker 1: shows up and goes, what do you call how you
- 40:48Speaker 1: punk ass nagger? And he goes, are we cool and funny?
- 40:55Speaker 1: That was so out of nowhere, by the way, and
- 40:58Speaker 1: good good on snoop here He really didn't Yeah, you
- 41:04Speaker 1: call you what do you call him? You punk ass? Hilarious?
- 41:09Speaker 1: And then not long after um because Kelsa was making
- 41:13Speaker 1: fun of them for being a you know, as a
- 41:16Speaker 1: as a as a sexist old man. He was being
- 41:21Speaker 1: saying that Keith was being the woman and Elliott was
- 41:24Speaker 1: being the man. And when Keith finally walks out, he
- 41:27Speaker 1: says to Elliott, bitches, huh, it's just funny coming out
- 41:35Speaker 1: of Ken's mouth. But I mean, look, I'm sorry, Kens
- 41:40Speaker 1: saying bitches is funny. I mean, look, there's a lot
- 41:44Speaker 1: of inappropriate things in this show that are still funny
- 41:46Speaker 1: to me. I'm sorry, I'm a human being. I can't.
- 41:49Speaker 1: I can't. At least he's calling a man a bitch, right,
- 41:54Speaker 1: But I can't not laugh at certain things. What Dan,
- 41:57Speaker 1: Dan's making a face like, oh it's funny. No, it's funny,
- 42:00Speaker 1: still funny. We don't have our we don't. We don't
- 42:01Speaker 1: have Jowell. I thought I thought it was Buddy Um.
- 42:08Speaker 1: So Doug may have left his cell phone in LaVerne's Corpse.
- 42:10Speaker 1: You mentioned that um Elliott is uh afraid um and
- 42:17Speaker 1: um and and then eventually is talked into saying hey,
- 42:22Speaker 1: not talked into. She comes around to the feeling that
- 42:25Speaker 1: that that Carl is right. She's afraid of committing because
- 42:28Speaker 1: Jad heard her and uh and she summons the courage
- 42:32Speaker 1: and tells Keith that she loves him, which I don't
- 42:35Speaker 1: think she does, but that's just me. Well spoilers, we
- 42:39Speaker 1: learned that she's still holds a torch for jd as
- 42:44Speaker 1: she should, I mean, wouldn't. Um. Jady does well with
- 42:48Speaker 1: the ladies. That's a that's real. Yeah, the character really
- 42:52Speaker 1: really did well. Listen this song I love. I don't
- 42:56Speaker 1: have my rig here, but maybe uh Daniel can play
- 43:00Speaker 1: thirty seconds of Paolo Nutini's last Request. It's such a
- 43:05Speaker 1: beautiful song. It really hits on this episode. Two yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 1: shlow down down. Remember it's just you don't say bow?
- 43:28Speaker 1: Remember how this used to I just want you go?
- 43:34Speaker 1: So is that all right? Babe? Let's get clo It's
- 43:43Speaker 1: such a bad album if you never heard it. Um.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Paulo Nutini's first album that was like around this time,
- 43:50Speaker 1: was so popular. Great album. But I got goose bumps
- 43:54Speaker 1: when when when the voiceover says like LaVerne's Laverne was
- 43:58Speaker 1: still present, you know, kind of eiding us all with
- 44:01Speaker 1: her wisdom, and and then that song starts up and
- 44:05Speaker 1: it was just really really pretty. Yeah. M I was
- 44:09Speaker 1: gonna say this episode didn't make me laugh that much,
- 44:11Speaker 1: you know, but that's an odd one. But it was definitely.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I didn't think it was a bad episode, that's the thing,
- 44:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I just thought, you know,
- 44:21Speaker 1: I guess everybody needs a little bit of time to grief,
- 44:24Speaker 1: and I guess this was our way of grieving the
- 44:26Speaker 1: fact that you know, Aloma wasn't going to be around
- 44:30Speaker 1: that much anymore. You know. I think we were always
- 44:33Speaker 1: on the bubble, you know, and Bill's book about this before,
- 44:36Speaker 1: like we were always on the bubble of getting canceled.
- 44:38Speaker 1: We never knew, we never ever knew if we were
- 44:40Speaker 1: coming back. It wasn't like, you know, sometimes shows get
- 44:43Speaker 1: picked up like right away and you know they're going
- 44:45Speaker 1: to get a season or two more seasons. But Scrubs
- 44:48Speaker 1: was always on the little bubble. And I think Bill
- 44:51Speaker 1: did it thinking that there was a chance this was
- 44:54Speaker 1: our last season. And then he instantly felt bad because
- 44:58Speaker 1: he said to Aloma, like, I just thought we were
- 45:00Speaker 1: ending the show and we were gonna, you know, do
- 45:02Speaker 1: something super dramatic. And he said, kind of off handedly
- 45:06Speaker 1: to her, and you know, if we if we happened
- 45:08Speaker 1: to get picked up again, I'll bring you back as
- 45:10Speaker 1: your sister. And we all kind of laughed, like, no
- 45:14Speaker 1: one's never gonna do that, that's so weird. And then
- 45:16Speaker 1: sure enough we got picked up and he brought her
- 45:18Speaker 1: back as Shirley Laverne, sister Shirley, and You're like, I
- 45:25Speaker 1: can't I'll never remember that I'll never remember that. I'm
- 45:27Speaker 1: gonna call you Laverne again. Yeah, I'm gonna call you
- 45:30Speaker 1: lavern again. All right, listen, we have an exciting guest today.
- 45:35Speaker 1: She is our genius costume designer that we've been plugging
- 45:39Speaker 1: and promising to you forever. Carry Bennett. She did the
- 45:43Speaker 1: ninth season. Donald, I don't know if she did, but
- 45:45Speaker 1: she did. All yeah, we'll ask her. She did all
- 45:48Speaker 1: the eight that I was a part of, and she
- 45:53Speaker 1: I mean every single costume that was in a fantasy
- 45:57Speaker 1: or you know, all the incredibly wacky stuff that occurred
- 46:00Speaker 1: over this show. First, our first ever going out on
- 46:04Speaker 1: Halloween costumes in real life. She made for us. Yeah,
- 46:09Speaker 1: she took care of us. When it was time to
- 46:13Speaker 1: put a big clock around Jad's neck when he went
- 46:16Speaker 1: to the club and he said, man, it's only ten o'clock.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I was Carrie Bennett. All right. So we'll be right
- 46:22Speaker 1: back after this break with Carrie Bennett, the costume designer
- 46:25Speaker 1: of Scrubs, and we're bad. You have the most exciting
- 46:37Speaker 1: guests we've had in a long time. We should have
- 46:40Speaker 1: done this long, long, long ago, but we're not the
- 46:42Speaker 1: most organized group of people. Donald Donald does nothing. Donald does.
- 46:48Speaker 1: No guest booking. It's me and Joel and H. That's true.
- 46:53Speaker 1: I've had guests. Who have you booked on the show?
- 46:56Speaker 1: Seth Green, your mom, your mom, my mom, I booked Seth.
- 47:01Speaker 1: My mom was on the SETH was a standing for
- 47:04Speaker 1: me when I couldn't come. And oh wait, I also booked.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Uhhh yeah, thank you. So there you go. But um,
- 47:16Speaker 1: we're so thrilled. Please welcome the costume designer for the
- 47:21Speaker 1: entire series of Scrubs. Carry Bennett thunders, applause, Daniel, I
- 47:27Speaker 1: do it. I did Carry? Where did I see you?
- 47:32Speaker 1: Did you do in the season nine two or just eight?
- 47:36Speaker 1: I did? And and I was a big giant pregnant
- 47:39Speaker 1: lady and then I had a baby and I didn't
- 47:43Speaker 1: do the last three episodes. I did the pilot and
- 47:47Speaker 1: all the way and all the way you did every
- 47:49Speaker 1: single episode up until the last three of season nine. Yeah. Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 1: I'll tell everyone, Um, you know the We know they
- 47:56Speaker 1: know the obvious, but a lot of our listeners aren't
- 47:58Speaker 1: in the business, so kind of tell them, like how
- 48:01Speaker 1: you do your job. Obviously, each week you're you're given
- 48:05Speaker 1: a script and just you know, explain a little bit
- 48:08Speaker 1: like what you and your team do because maybe some
- 48:10Speaker 1: people are interested. Who wanted how did you? I want
- 48:13Speaker 1: to know how you got into it is? Okay, really,
- 48:15Speaker 1: let's go further back. How did you start? Oh my gosh,
- 48:19Speaker 1: really you really want to go that far back? Well,
- 48:20Speaker 1: don't cliff notes. We don't need to play by play, Okay, okay, yeah,
- 48:23Speaker 1: so yeah, I'll give the cliff notes. Yeah. You know what,
- 48:25Speaker 1: Actually I was a dance major in college. Maybe you
- 48:28Speaker 1: guys didn't even know that. I didn't know that in college,
- 48:31Speaker 1: but I was working in the costume I always knew
- 48:33Speaker 1: how to sew, and I was working in the costume
- 48:35Speaker 1: department and my teacher was like, you should do you
- 48:38Speaker 1: have great energy, you should do costumes for TV. And
- 48:42Speaker 1: then I, um, yeah, I went. I got my master's
- 48:45Speaker 1: degree at cal Arts in costume design, and I moved
- 48:49Speaker 1: to New York as people do. And what was the
- 48:52Speaker 1: first show of that we would that people would know
- 48:55Speaker 1: that you worked on? Oh my gosh, um The State
- 49:00Speaker 1: Do you know that show? It was like a cult
- 49:01Speaker 1: it's a cult classic, like it was on Comedy Central.
- 49:04Speaker 1: I did a time. I've always done comedies. That's my jam.
- 49:07Speaker 1: And how did Bill find you. Bill found me through
- 49:12Speaker 1: Adam Bernstein, our beloved, a director of our pilot, who's
- 49:17Speaker 1: u yeah, very who kind of initially set the look
- 49:20Speaker 1: of the whole show. Had you guys worked together before?
- 49:23Speaker 1: We did Strangers with Candy together with Amy Sedaris, another
- 49:29Speaker 1: like CULTI Classic. We did that and it was super
- 49:31Speaker 1: nuts and we just we just bonded on that because
- 49:35Speaker 1: it was such a hard project to get through. Yeah,
- 49:37Speaker 1: we you New York based or LA Base. No, I'm
- 49:40Speaker 1: from California. I'm a California girl. And yeah, I went
- 49:44Speaker 1: out to New York and was out there for like
- 49:46Speaker 1: six years doing shows. Um. I did Upside Upright Citizen's Brigade.
- 49:52Speaker 1: It was one of my big ones with um, you know,
- 49:55Speaker 1: Amy Poehler and Matt Walsh and all those guys. Yeah,
- 49:58Speaker 1: um and yeah, So I met Adam Bernstein, he did
- 50:01Speaker 1: he directed some of those, and then we did Strangers
- 50:03Speaker 1: with Candy, and then he came out to do Scrubs
- 50:06Speaker 1: and I was I think it might have been the
- 50:07Speaker 1: only costume designer he knew. So wait you came so
- 50:12Speaker 1: you came back to LA from New York? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 1: I need the sunshine. Yeah me too. Yeah, I like,
- 50:20Speaker 1: I like, I like the sun on my face. Because
- 50:23Speaker 1: you're in New York right now. Well, I have to
- 50:25Speaker 1: go back and forth. But the sun is out here
- 50:27Speaker 1: in New York. I just mean, I don't like, I
- 50:29Speaker 1: could never live it's really out here in California right now.
- 50:31Speaker 1: It's really really extra out It's really out now. Carry
- 50:35Speaker 1: some might think, you know, when you got the assignment,
- 50:38Speaker 1: did you think, well, this is going to be challenging
- 50:41Speaker 1: because obviously there's a lot of doctor's clothes and scrubs,
- 50:44Speaker 1: but you had all these elaborate, crazy fantasies and that
- 50:48Speaker 1: was going to be the fun challenge for for a
- 50:50Speaker 1: costume designer, right yeah, yeah, And I you know, the
- 50:53Speaker 1: thing is like, I don't all the projects I go into,
- 50:56Speaker 1: I never assume I know what I'm doing. I always
- 50:59Speaker 1: like a little little base of fear that that motivates me.
- 51:04Speaker 1: And actually I was like, I don't assume I know
- 51:07Speaker 1: what a medical community looks like. I have no idea.
- 51:10Speaker 1: They were scrubs and they wear lab coats, but who
- 51:12Speaker 1: wears the lab coats and who doesn't and who wears
- 51:15Speaker 1: regular clothes. So Adam and I went to the hospital
- 51:20Speaker 1: in downtown La. We made an appointment and he and
- 51:24Speaker 1: I did research together, and I'll tell you what. All
- 51:27Speaker 1: the characters were in there, including Doug. There was a
- 51:31Speaker 1: guy in the er that walked around with a fanny
- 51:33Speaker 1: pack with his water bottle like swinging from it, and like,
- 51:41Speaker 1: there you have it. You're taking notes, and that's how
- 51:43Speaker 1: Doug's fanny pack was born. Yep, that's it. And so
- 51:48Speaker 1: just like I said my initial question, like what what what?
- 51:52Speaker 1: Just explain to people. You get a script and you
- 51:55Speaker 1: kind of do a breakdown of what's going to be necessary, right,
- 51:58Speaker 1: and yeah, you read it together. Yeah, no, I do that.
- 52:03Speaker 1: I read it. Well, I'm the supervisor, like my right
- 52:06Speaker 1: hand person. We read the script and break it down
- 52:09Speaker 1: and figure out how many days are in it, because
- 52:12Speaker 1: you know, often the only thing that you that dictates
- 52:17Speaker 1: that the day has changed is that you've changed your outfit, right,
- 52:21Speaker 1: There's no thing that says like the next day or whatever,
- 52:24Speaker 1: So that's really important. So I figure out how many
- 52:28Speaker 1: days they are and like what's going on, like are
- 52:31Speaker 1: you flying through the sky, are you whatever? Are you
- 52:34Speaker 1: getting something spilled on you? Okay, so then we're gonna
- 52:38Speaker 1: need doubles. There's a stunt, we're gonna need quadruples. Like Zach,
- 52:41Speaker 1: I pretty much only bought quadruples of everything I ever
- 52:45Speaker 1: bought for you because we always needed a hero costume.
- 52:48Speaker 1: We needed a double and a stunt and then a
- 52:52Speaker 1: ruined one, right, you know. And the clothes are remaining,
- 52:56Speaker 1: the clothes that JD got to wear. Donald. I don't
- 52:58Speaker 1: know if you loved your clothes as much as I did,
- 53:00Speaker 1: but I got to say, like, my non scrubs clothes,
- 53:03Speaker 1: my my civilian clothes out in the real world, though
- 53:07Speaker 1: I loved. I was like, and they were so nice,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and JD could have never afforded them, probably because some
- 53:12Speaker 1: of them were really swanky. Well, well, I just I remember,
- 53:17Speaker 1: and I've always stuck to this, Carrie told me, because
- 53:21Speaker 1: I because you know, I come from the urban area
- 53:25Speaker 1: where baggy clothes is what you always want to wear
- 53:29Speaker 1: and stuff like that. And I remember saying to Carry,
- 53:32Speaker 1: I don't want to wear this tight shit no more.
- 53:34Speaker 1: She's like, it looks good on screen. I said, I
- 53:36Speaker 1: don't want to wear this anymore. It's so tight. And
- 53:38Speaker 1: she was like, all right, fine, you get to wear
- 53:39Speaker 1: baggy clothes. And I said, yeah, I won. So she
- 53:42Speaker 1: put me in baggy scrubs, and I looked like I'm
- 53:45Speaker 1: sweat like when you look at it on screen, I'm
- 53:47Speaker 1: swimming in these things. So then I go back to carry.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I go, I want to wear a tight stuff again.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I kind of always remember pulling your scrubs up in
- 53:57Speaker 1: the back, yeah, sir, because I would always let them
- 54:01Speaker 1: fall off. Yeah. He was always coming out. Yeah. And
- 54:05Speaker 1: I remember two that there was I had to change
- 54:10Speaker 1: so much because I was insomuch. At a certain point,
- 54:14Speaker 1: I went to carry because you know, carrying it, you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: even with the scrubs. She was trying to shake it up,
- 54:20Speaker 1: you know, because you don't you know, there's blue scrubs,
- 54:22Speaker 1: but there's all different shades of blue, and what was
- 54:25Speaker 1: the what was the shirt that was underneath it? And
- 54:28Speaker 1: I used to in the beginning. I cared so much,
- 54:30Speaker 1: and finally having a change forty times a day, I
- 54:34Speaker 1: was like, Carrie, we're gonna stick in each episode with
- 54:38Speaker 1: the same pair of blue scrub pants JD. For this
- 54:45Speaker 1: whole episode, We'll wear that shade of paints. You can
- 54:49Speaker 1: go crazy with the top chambers, I know, you know,
- 54:55Speaker 1: I'm always just trying to hold the line with the
- 54:57Speaker 1: continuity and like, I will make sure that everything's like copasetic,
- 55:01Speaker 1: and then Bill would say things like, oh, you know,
- 55:03Speaker 1: you didn't even notice, like he went in the room
- 55:05Speaker 1: with one color scrubs on and he came out with
- 55:07Speaker 1: a different colors. I used a piece. I remember me.
- 55:11Speaker 1: He did that once when he was like, he's like,
- 55:12Speaker 1: see if you notice anything off here, and I think,
- 55:15Speaker 1: I don't. Forgot if I told this story before and
- 55:18Speaker 1: no one could figure out. No one could figure it out.
- 55:19Speaker 1: And then finally he's like, you don't notice that JD
- 55:22Speaker 1: scrubs totally changed color um And I'm like, oh, that's
- 55:27Speaker 1: what it is. He goes, yeah, we needed a shot
- 55:29Speaker 1: of you running out of that room. I didn't have one,
- 55:30Speaker 1: so I took one from another episode. Yeah yeah, thanks
- 55:34Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah yeah, you know, you're totally You're totally right.
- 55:40Speaker 1: I mean when I would pull the line, meaning like
- 55:42Speaker 1: pull out all the costumes for the for each episode,
- 55:45Speaker 1: you would often have like thirteen changes in one twenty
- 55:50Speaker 1: minute episode. Like it's so crazy because it's like a
- 55:53Speaker 1: montage and then there's like another montage and then there's
- 55:56Speaker 1: like a scrub in the day, and then you go
- 55:58Speaker 1: out on the day at night and you have sex,
- 56:01Speaker 1: are you? That was the crazy thing. That was the
- 56:05Speaker 1: crazy thing. Like also, you guys were in charge, Like
- 56:09Speaker 1: there's a lot of nudity on the show, and you
- 56:11Speaker 1: guys were in charge of hiding things, you know what
- 56:14Speaker 1: I mean, Like from the beginning all the way to
- 56:16Speaker 1: the end. Like I remember one time I had a
- 56:19Speaker 1: leaf made to cover my body, you know, I mean
- 56:23Speaker 1: I remember one time I literally had I had a leaf.
- 56:26Speaker 1: One time I had a I had a nine iron. Uh,
- 56:31Speaker 1: I mean a nine would you know what I mean? Like,
- 56:34Speaker 1: you guys fall off very they're creative, they're creative, but
- 56:40Speaker 1: sometimes it's just a sock and um and the sock
- 56:43Speaker 1: falls off. Remember when I was dancing for Tara Reid,
- 56:46Speaker 1: your son fell off your so oh you're you're saying
- 56:48Speaker 1: your sock would never fallow, never fall off. Yeah, all
- 56:55Speaker 1: that falls into my jurisdiction. That's crazy though, But that's yeah.
- 56:59Speaker 1: It's like, I mean, yeah, you did yeah and monkey
- 57:05Speaker 1: costumes and uh we did monkey, We did chimps and
- 57:09Speaker 1: monkeys dogs. Remember when the room when the Ostrich worked
- 57:13Speaker 1: on Donald's can go. Yeah, I mean all of that all,
- 57:20Speaker 1: but then not just that, then it goes into fantasies
- 57:23Speaker 1: like the Wizard of Oz episode. Yeah you really the
- 57:28Speaker 1: Wizard of Oz and the and the and the Princess episode.
- 57:31Speaker 1: You did such beautiful work for that, Kerry, I, I
- 57:34Speaker 1: it's I don't I don't know if you uh were nominated,
- 57:38Speaker 1: but you should have been. Um that your your work
- 57:41Speaker 1: on on you know you you always did outstanding work
- 57:44Speaker 1: on So So Fast. But there were particular episodes like
- 57:47Speaker 1: the Wizard of Oz and Princess Bride for example, where
- 57:51Speaker 1: you really got to do just epic work. And the
- 57:54Speaker 1: Princess Pride one, well, I directed both of those, so
- 57:56Speaker 1: I'm know that we got to work intimately on on
- 57:59Speaker 1: that and it was you just did extraordinary work. Thank you,
- 58:03Speaker 1: thank you. Yeah, you know. I mean I trained our
- 58:06Speaker 1: production crew to put that stuff, anything that was a
- 58:09Speaker 1: specialty costume, to shoot it at the end of the
- 58:12Speaker 1: week because the scripts would always come in so late
- 58:16Speaker 1: that I would need the time, like as we're shooting,
- 58:19Speaker 1: I would need the time to like pull that stuff together,
- 58:22Speaker 1: all that specialty stuff, and that was often custom made
- 58:25Speaker 1: or whatever. What about Goat Turk? Remember Goat Turk? Yeah, dude,
- 58:30Speaker 1: I like, yeah, my bad bad get your hands off,
- 58:36Speaker 1: my little woman. Turk plant turk Oh my gosh, like
- 58:40Speaker 1: this yeah, man, Yeah, there was a unicorn in there somewhere. Yeah.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I made a horn for a unit. You did, yes?
- 58:47Speaker 1: Did we glued it to a horse's head? Not glued, Peter,
- 58:51Speaker 1: not glued? You guys put this. I'm gonna put this outside.
- 58:56Speaker 1: It's driving me crazy. I'm sorry. Probably not glued um
- 59:00Speaker 1: gently placed, like with sticky stuff gum like like yeah something. Yeah,
- 59:10Speaker 1: it was like it was like it was yeah, it was.
- 59:12Speaker 1: It was like something that doesn't hurt nothing that hurts
- 59:16Speaker 1: the horse. Yes, unless it wasn't a horse it was
- 59:20Speaker 1: it may have actually been a unicorn. Um, Carrie, what
- 59:24Speaker 1: do you what do you remember? Is like your hardest
- 59:26Speaker 1: assignment or or or and and or also your favorite one?
- 59:32Speaker 1: Do you do you have any that come into mind?
- 59:34Speaker 1: Oh my god, I mean I don't know where do
- 59:36Speaker 1: I start. I mean the big one was the Bahamas.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Two episodes in the Bahamas, again with no script. I
- 59:46Speaker 1: just was kind of guessing I had to ship everything
- 59:49Speaker 1: down there like two weeks I think before we shot.
- 59:52Speaker 1: You know, there was no script. By then, you just
- 59:55Speaker 1: be our characters who you knew, so well, I knew, Yeah,
- 59:58Speaker 1: I knew that you'd need eating suits. I knew there
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: was a wedding and that's all I knew. And I
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: just shipped everything down there. That was so hard, and
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: you know, because there was no store. Yeah, Neil doesn't
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: wear a jumpsuit at all in this episode. Yeah, anybody's
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: in different things. And you know, we're on the plane
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: and Bill's like, come sit next to me, I'm going
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: to tell you what's in this episode. Oh really, So
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you were really screwed if like there was any surprises. Well,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: and there was, and then he was like, hey, could
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: we have a Mermaid? I like, you have to be
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: kidding me. That is like costume designers number one favorite
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: amazing thing to make. And I don't have thing to
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: have a Mermaid. And we weren't like even we weren't
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: even like in the main area of the Bahamas. We
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: were on a remote it's so remote stores. So well,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I figured that we would probably need lining for things
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: like bathing suits and stuff. So I threw in some
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: lining fabric and then the it was our It was
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Sarah stand In who ended up being the mermaid S Shelena. Yeah,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: and she had an amazing bra as girls do. She
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: loaned me that I like hands sewed up, you know,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: over her bra There was like a tiny little gift
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: store there that had like some earrings that had shells
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: on them, so I bought those, picked the shells off,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: like hand sewed this whole thing. I stayed up all
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: night and just made this thing. And then we get
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: to the shot and it's he shoots it from the back,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: which I didn't do the back because I figured fine.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: So he's like, yeah, it's okay, it's okay, just it's
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: over the shoulder. Um. And anyways, I think she when
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: if she comes out of the water or something, I
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: don't know, it's just her top camera. That's just when
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I saw your eel. Donald, I forgot come on bro
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Nome and the show. Yeah, and the show. I don't
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: remember the script moment. We haven't gotten there yet. I
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: don't remember either. I do remember getting so dehydrated that
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: I almost passed out while we're shooting that scene on
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: it because we were drinking a lot of alcohol. We
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: drank so many Bahama mamas. The whole crew much downtime
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: and so even at because the crew is really working
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: their asses off in the heat, nah man, dud Man, listen, shit,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I don't have to say, come on, bro, we were
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: fucking around when we were making that shit, like we
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: got drunk with like most of us are drunk or
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: stoned while making that episode. But whenever there's a down moment,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: we're just you'd be sitting there and there'd be a
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: bar right there. You would just rather than rather than
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: sit in your director's chair or whatever, you just go
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: sit at the bar. Can I get a Bahama Mama? Please?
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: And then out of nowhere, you're freaking doing scenes drunk
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: out of your mind and you're like, I'm so fucking
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: drunk right now. Yeah, yeah, I definitely you should know
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: when you watch the Bahamas episodes that we're holding it
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: together and I am anebriated. Yeah, I think the entire
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: crew is actually yea, and we lived to swim at
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: lunchtime and yeah, yeah, that was the infamous that you
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: listen man, that was the infamous swimming in the ocean
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: with uh a thunderstorm behind us. Yes, when that happened,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: and we had we basically like rented all the houses
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: on that on that island, there was there there was
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: not a hotel right. We just had all the houses
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: we were living with, like we like we kicked everybody
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: that had lived there off the island. We took over
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: their homes, kicked them off the islands. I think they
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: a lot of people rented their houses to us. Don't
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: act like we like we're like get out, but I do.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I do remember actually that they had to, um, they
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: hired people to clean up the beach. Remember that they
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: were like bulldozing, um uh seaweed off the beach. Yeah.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I thought it was like trash and stuff. I was
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: to say, damn, that sucks. But carry didn't you develop
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: your own scrubs line for a while? Um? What happened?
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Is that still going? Or did that that? Did that end?
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: What happened with that? I remember there was a moment
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: where we were often wearing your very own scrubs. I know, yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: no I did that, you know after the first season.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: You know, well, let me back up, like that was
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: two thousand and one. Back then, scrubs were unisex, Like
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: there was no designer scrubs. It didn't exist. It wasn't
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: a thing. Yeah, it wasn't a thing. And so I
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: had our beautiful ladies in these scrubs that were like
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: not cute, and we had them tailored so tight on
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: them that we had to put zippers in them and
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: stuff so that they could get out of them. We
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: had to take two of us would pull them out
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: of their scrub tops every day. And I was like,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: this is ridiculous, Like this is torture for the actresses.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: And so after that first season, I spent the summer
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: developing like I was like, there's got to be stretchy
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: scrub fabric somewhere so we can make these tight, little
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: cute fitted scrubs, but they're stretchy so they can come
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: out on right. So I made those and tried them
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: on the girls and they were just like, oh my god,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: this is this is a revolution. And then we started
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: the second season with those scrubs and I had I
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: didn't do them for you boys yet, UM, because because
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: the girls were the first issue to tools, you wanted
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: they were so beautifully you want them to show their curve. Yeah,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: we wanted them to look fitted in their scrubs and
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: cute on TV UM and people started to call the
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: show like right into the show and and be like,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: what are those scrubs? Where did you get those people
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: who wore scrubs were like, wait a second, We're like,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: where are those from? Yeah? Where do I get those?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I made those? Um. So yeah, So
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: then I launched m I launched a little business and
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: it did amazing for a while. Um and then Patton listen,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I watched Shark Tank. I know I can hear them saying, uh,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: this is copyable. And so you felt like a lot
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: of people got a lot of people joined you in
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: and it kind of was a hard business to maintain.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Is that what happened? Yeah, totally, Yeah, yeah, yeah, lots
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: of copy now there's so many now now everyone is,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I mean in the profession, it seems didn't Darla Options.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Do you remember Darla Makeup? Didn't she start the whole
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: spray painting the face thing like airbrush makeup? Yeah, she
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: was one of the originals to do that too, before
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: when viral and everybody started. Yeah, and she was developing
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: her own own means of her own equipment just to
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: to airbrush makeup. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's hard to
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: keep that stuff going though, and like you know, and
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: also you've got you can't run two businesses at the
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: same time. You have to do the show and then yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and Scrubs. Did you go on to work did you
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: go in to work with Bill some more? Or did
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: you Um, I've done some pilots with him. I've done
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: a bunch of pilots with him. I just finish doing
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Head of the Class with him. Oh yeah, yeah. And
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: you know, and back then too, back during the Scrubs years,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: I was also doing the Office that yeah you did
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: not Wait what else of the Office did you do? Dudes?
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I did the pilot and I did the first four
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: seasons of the Office. Bullshit, How did you manage to
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: do that? I did it. I did it at both
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: of them at the same time, Like we did the
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: pilot during a hiatus of Scrubs I think, And then
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: it was like almost a year before it got picked up.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: So I was like, ah, you know, pilots never go anywhere.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: I'm good. And then it got picked up and they
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: moved it from it was originally in Culver City, and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: then they moved it where it ended up in the Valley,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: so it was kind of like behind where we shot Scrubs.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: They did it at Radford, right, No, they did no
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: building like us. No, it's did a sound stage. There's
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: a sound stage out on sata KOI out in the
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Onali just outed it, but it's out people know where
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: it is. It's out on. So there was a big
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Starbucks in between, and I would just literally go back
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: and forth all day long. I had. That is so fun.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: No clue, no clue whatsoever. I think Carrie, you probably
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: wanted to hide from us that you were that you
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: were double double dipping with a with another show. No.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: I mean, but then it like Scrubs was you know,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I had done it for several years and also Scobs
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: was like, yeah, it wasn't well oiled machine compared to
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: the Office. The Office was chaotic, but they had so
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: I mean they were a hit show. They were like
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: the real hit show. We were like it not when
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: we were making it. Really the Office, The Office I
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: think has found it's it's uh, it's giant following after
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: that it aired, right, I mean it was, it was.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I don't think they were huge because like, no, I
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: remember Friends being such a big hit and people being
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: like Scrubs is going to be that, and Scrubs was
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: never quite that, you know what I mean? Not that Yeah,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: And I thought The Office I had always envisioned that
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: the Office was like that. But it's great to know
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: that two of the most you know, influential shows of
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: the time were kind of like, I know, Denominator, they're
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: not really we know what it is now, don't we know?
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Out Well, that's incredible. You, I mean, that must be
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: so much hard work. I mean to be doing both, um,
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: but you obviously support team UM helping. Oh my gosh,
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, let's just put let's set the record straight,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: like I don't do it all. Yeah, no, I have
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: amazing It's safe to say that you can't do this
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: all on your own, Carrie, Yes, exactly. And then and
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: then in fact, you're no superman. No, I'm not amazing.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Had an amazing team, and we had people on set
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: that make sure the continuity matches and uh and Sarah
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: would always spill things on her scrubs top. She would, girl,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: yeah she would. She must have driven you crazy. She's
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: such a slob. Oh my god, you know, we made her.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: We made her wear she had to wear a bib
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to lunch, you know, remember. Yeah. The worst though was
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: was that she and the worst was that she came
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: in one time and she's got her like icy blue
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: scrubs on and she's holding a sharpie and she's like,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: um so it's open. And she's like, um so I
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: fell asleep on this. And she turns around and she
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: has this giant black blob on her ass and she's like,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: do you think this will come out? It's sharpie, it's
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: sharp has a sleep on an open sharpie. Sarah Sarah,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Sara Sarah' dressing him carry. I don't know if you
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: ever ventured in there, but it looked like a bomb
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: went off. Let's let's put it this way. If Honey,
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: I shrunk the kids was a real movie, they wouldn't
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: want to shrink the kids in Sarah's dressing room because
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the kids would not get out. The backyard was probably
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: safer than Sarah's dressing. They would drown an old soup
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: she she had like food containers from like it. It
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: was nasty. But Sarah was a big challenge for you
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: because she would always be at klutz and spill something.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: We were allowed Donald and I were adults, so we
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: were allowed to wear our clothes to lunch, right, But Sarah,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I think I would make my I think often it
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: would take my scrub U scrub top off and just
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: wear the long Yeah. Yeah, we really milked the hell
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: out of that T shirt over a long sleeve shirt thing.
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: Krry you and I, Oh my god, you know it's epic.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Bill Still, where is that as like his uniform? I
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: don't know, It's good. I'm gonna tell you this. It
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: was the best. The best outfit costumes ever was getting
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: out of my pajamas going to work and putting on
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: pajamas again, right, you know what I mean? And that's
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the thing, you know. But they but you know, halfway
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: through your guys, your scrubs were custom made. Also. Oh
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: yeah no, at some point they did get fancy. I
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: do remember, Yeah, I remember I took I took Zach's
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: favorite pants, like he had like a like a Gucci
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: little um uh chino and he had like, I don't know,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: these cute little sweatpants. I took all his favorite pants
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: and I was like, okay, I want I want the
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: pants to have like this kind of a rise this
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: the butt, the pockets like this. So we just kind
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: of the perfect Zackcraft pants um. And then there was
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: there was two tone scrubs that I sometimes wore the
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: but came in later. Yeah, that came in later. Yeah,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: those were you know, I had I had every scrub
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: that existed on the market at that point, and in
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: every color because we needed to have like thirteen days
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: worth of colors so that it looked like it was
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: you know. Well, you also came through like on the
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: personal level too, Like I remember the first Halloween we
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: ever had, you made Zach's costume, and I remember I
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: was like, can you make my costume? And it was
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: like two days before Halloween and you were like, oh, buddy, yeah,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: you know, what's sure, I'll try my best. I was like,
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I want to be Han Solo and somehow you figured
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: it out a way to make me a Han Solo
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: outfit and yeah, and it was before you were actually
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Han Solo on the show, obviously, No, I had already.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: That's how I got the idea because we had done
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: the Han Solo and Scrubs thing. But I didn't want
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: to be Han Solo and Scrubs. I wanted to be
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: something else, and she got You got very creative, and
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: you found a vest and you found some leather pants
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: for me to wear and some boots from you to wear.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Was I that year? Donald? You were you were a
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: nos ferratu. You were you were like Count Dracula or
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: something like that. That's when we went to the Playboy
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: mansiip for the Playboy. I forgot I was Dracula Or
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: was I the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera. No,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: it was the Halloween party. We went to a Halloween
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: party for Playboy, and I recall you having on the
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: tuxedo and the cane and everything. Okay, um, Carrie, talk
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: about that Star Wars costume because that was a really
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: good one and also interesting lesson for people who are
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: curious on how you can tiptoe around when you're when
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: you're technically doing a spoof of something. You can you can,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you can do it. But you had to like do
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: some weird stuff, right, Yeah, you have to change it
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: can't be exactly exactly exactly, so you just kind of
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: change it up. You just kind of, you know, do it.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I mean that one was not so bad because it
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: was like scrubs were supposed to be scrubs. We just
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: but again, like we made those scrubs. We made the
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: silhouette of the Are Wars looks but in scrub fabric,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: so it looked you know, it looked right. I just
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: remember that Sarah had the buns, but she had she
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: had like medical things stuck in the Yeah, I remember,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I remember you dressed me up as Indiana Jones. The
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: scrubs look like Indiana Jones and everything like that. You
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: just put the lead they had. I had the leather
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: jacket and the hat, but then the scrubs still kind
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: of had the fit and everything. I know. Yeah, I
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: mean there were so many things like that, and you know,
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: I've had to defend myself a few times where it's
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: like what kind of costumes are there on scrubs, Like,
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: oh my god, so many custom made costumes. I mean,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I can't tell you. I think I might even still
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: have them there. There's an entire closet full of customized
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: scrubs that show ladies assets if you will leavages. Um,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I say assets. Well, she was she was gesturing to
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: that area and the audience I can't see that, so
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I wanted to let them know what she meant. Yeah,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: so many customing things, just constantly, yeah, making it fit
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: whatever Waco thing got written, and you know, and doing
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: it last minute. And that's why I'm saying like I
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: do not do all that myself, like I orchestrated, But
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: I want to shout out your team. You had a
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: great team. Yeah, I mean amazing. Yes, I mean there
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: were so many of them over the over the years.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: But Carolyn urt amazing, Celesque, La Chance on set amazing.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I ran into I ran into
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Celesque at a movie theater. Yeah, so I forget a
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: movie we were seeing and she was prekers would have
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: baby on the way. Yeah, we all did that. Like Sarah,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Judy and I were all pregnant at the same time.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: We all went to our other's baby showers and we
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: all were like, I forget who got pregnant first, But
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: we're like, oh, how do you do this? How do
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: you do that in this industry? How do you guys
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: all have kids at around the same age, like little months,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: within months yeah, of each other. Yeah, yeah, well Carrie,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: you did incredible work. And um, no one should ever
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: think that, oh she just threw some scrubs on people.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: She uh, she she did so much. And the fantasies
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: you have to understand, as funny as they were, sometimes
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: they Bill would come up with them and the team
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: writers at the last second, you know, I was just
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: thinking of remember that moment when we when we tuck,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: when we try on tuxedos for yeah, for the wedding,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: and then we fantasize about what we'd really want to
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: be wearing. That was hilarious. That was one of my
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: favorite outfits that we carry with all the rings. Oh
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: my gosh, I'm wearing like a top hat with white tails. Yes, yeah,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: it's got like mirrors or something all over it. Yeah.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Not only that, but also you made the Eddie Murphy
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: raw outfit. Oh yes, you may wait, and let's not
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: forget the pimp strut outfits. Yeah. I was gonna say
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: that is I get asked about that more than anything ever,
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: like you guys, and I think that was that your
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: innovation to not wear our shirts. No one, no. Donald
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: was shirtless the first time, and then by the time
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: they did it again, I had gotten in good shape.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: So I was like, I want to be the shirtless
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: one this time because I worked so hard for this
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: body man, Robin. And what about Rerun too, Oh my god,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: when you dressed everybody up ads Rerun dude, And that
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: was one of those things that was like literally at
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: like nine o'clock the night before. They're like, I get
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: a call from someone in the writer's room. It's like, hey,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: so we wouldn't do this joke, and we got Rerun,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: and we want to do it first thing up in
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: the morning. We want the whole crew to be dressed
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: like Rerun in a yellow what is it? Yellow Turts suspenders.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, it's it's nine o'clock at night
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: and we're gonna shoot it at nine o'clock in the morning.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: You've got twelve hours ago, and I need like two
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: hundred pairs of red you know, pants and suspenders. I'm
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: gonna go and suspenders right now. I know that Michael
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Spiller directed that one because there's a funny shot of
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: him of him and the group as one of the people. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: he's in it. I don't know how we pulled that
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: one off. To be another thing back, like, how did
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: you do that? Terry? Thank you so much. You're extraordinary
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and you made us look good and we want you
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: to know that we appreciate you and your whole posse
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: for all the years of great, just really beautiful work. Well,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: thank you, guys, thank you for making it so fun.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: I mean you you wrecked it for me. I really
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: can't do anything other than comedies anymore because I like
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: to do comedies myself, because you you're gonna go to
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: work and laugh every day. And we always talk about
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: what a fun job this was, because the assignment was
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: to go to work and fun laugh all day. Right.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: It was long and crazy hours, but it was funny. Yeah.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: And we partied hard, man, Like no fucking crew partied
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: like we partied. We partied like rock stars. Yeah, and
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: our rat parties were absolutely epic. Yeah, like epic. Like
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with you, I have yet to
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: experience that level of freaking epicness when it comes to partying. Yeah.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Well we don't party anymore. I mean we're COVID, but
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: also there's a lot of reasons why. But for twenty five,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: twenty six year old man, it was so fun. Oh
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: my gosh, it was awesome. I mean remember flying to
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Las Vegas. Amazing. Yeah, dude, not only flying to Las Vegas,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: we freaking charted a plane to the Bahamas and got
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: shit faced. But it wasn't all of us, it was
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: the whole crew. I wasn't like, when you think of that,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: don't think of like a private yet like they charged
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: like Bill chartered up the whole crew. But there was
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: no like, there was no way, um you know, crew
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: on the plane. Like there was no food, There was
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: no drinks or anything. I remember, like Randall, I have
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: a picture of Randall Winston holding a picture of Margarita's,
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: like serving down the aisle. We got fucked. There was
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: no food. There was just pictures of Margarita's. And when
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: we had Bloody Mary's, Bloody Mary And then we had
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: a layover in Texas and we ordered pizzas. Remember, and
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: the guy came on on the tournament that was on
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: the way back. We didn't do that on the way back.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Johnny C busted the door open because you guys,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: they wouldn't let you guys through customers. Johnny C busted
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: the door open and went and met the guy and
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: bought the pizzas back. Is what I understand happened. All right,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: we gotta wrap it up. Um, carry We love you, Daniel,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: we love you. Thank you for being a one man
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: band today. Joe, Well, we miss you well, we miss you.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: And and um that's it. Donald, anything else you want
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: to say to the people, to the amazing fans. Thank
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: you for tuning in. Um, I'm just happy that you
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: know I haven't seen you guys. Well, carry, I haven't
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: seen you in a while, but Daniel Zach, I haven't
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: seen you guys in like two weeks. I didn't realize
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: when I said by to you at the festival that
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: was going to be the last time I saw you. Well,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: i'll be home Sunday if you want to come. M
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: hug me and and uh and I gotta work. I'm
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: working this weekend. Oh yeah, you got your pilot. Yeah,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: tell them I need I'm special and I need to
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: come on Wednesday. But I want to stand on the floor. Okay,
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: work that out. Yeah, all right. I love you guys.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Five six, seven, eight Stories about shore. We made a
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: lot of nurses stories. Yad around you here, I'm ye
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: at around you here, I'm scrut free. Watch your wits
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: at a time. Mm hmmmmm
