- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered Three of Us. I know it sounds like
- 0:17Speaker 1: just me and Paul, but Duce is here. I am sorry,
- 0:19Speaker 1: zoned out on day seven of the slot the shot
- 0:24Speaker 1: Mac Jones is our quarterback. If you have two quarterbacks,
- 0:27Speaker 1: you don't have one quarterback. I don't think you need
- 0:28Speaker 1: a backup making twenty million dollars. Yeah, what's the saying.
- 0:31Speaker 1: If you have two quarterbacks, you don't Thanks for listen.
- 0:34Speaker 1: You might want to listen. Thanks for listening. And you
- 0:36Speaker 1: get that guy, assuming you can force the team to punt.
- 0:39Speaker 1: There's that that A typical friend snark, I don't know
- 0:44Speaker 1: what you're doing over there. Another one being wasted in Anaheim,
- 0:49Speaker 1: get him in La Well, you know it's great, it's great, right, No,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you're right. My friends and I are sitting around watching
- 0:57Speaker 1: Hogan's Heroes, and my father, who was in World War Two,
- 1:00Speaker 1: comes in. He goes, there's nothing funny about a German
- 1:02Speaker 1: prisoner of war camp and just walks out quote, you
- 1:07Speaker 1: can't go five hundred anymore with seventeen games, and Paul
- 1:10Speaker 1: promptly corrected him. Whisburg, Pittsburgh somehow managed to My question
- 1:15Speaker 1: is this is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right,
- 1:22Speaker 1: welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and we are two weeks in a day away from
- 1:31Speaker 1: public training camp, and it's just going by too fast. Man,
- 1:36Speaker 1: let's go and buy too fast. I gotta get ready,
- 1:40Speaker 1: gotta get ready, and then camp will start and be like, oh,
- 1:43Speaker 1: we gotta get to the first regular season game. You know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: it's always the next thing. Yeah, just gets in the
- 1:48Speaker 1: bye week, right, you say, I'm like, I am like that. Yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I dread the start of training camp. But then once
- 1:54Speaker 1: camp is here, all right, let's just go. Let's get
- 1:56Speaker 1: the season, get going as the season is fun. I've
- 1:59Speaker 1: seen that, I've seen him. Let's go. Yeah, it's Duce,
- 2:02Speaker 1: it's Alex, it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt and the booth.
- 2:05Speaker 1: We're here for two hours talking Patriots and whatever else
- 2:09Speaker 1: comes to mind, and what is on everyone's mind. Zach Wilson,
- 2:14Speaker 1: Zach Wilson, that that thing has legs. Hunt. I love it,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and I'm not talking about the mother's girlfriends. Have we
- 2:20Speaker 1: seen any anything? Uh, what do you mean? Photos of
- 2:26Speaker 1: the moment? Yeah, well they had a photo. Alex knows
- 2:29Speaker 1: me well enough on it didn't take long, she knows.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I'm much more interested in mom's friends. They had a
- 2:33Speaker 1: photo of the mom and her friends, and the question
- 2:36Speaker 1: is with which one friends? Well is it? I mean
- 2:39Speaker 1: do they all kind of look the same? I mean
- 2:41Speaker 1: it's yeah, yeah, a couple of hands, but that's st
- 2:47Speaker 1: But that's what I figured. Yeah, um, I mean the
- 2:50Speaker 1: love triangle, like I get. Maybe we should tell people
- 2:52Speaker 1: like Zach Wilson's ex girlfriend started dating his best friend,
- 2:56Speaker 1: who's also a receiver for the Commanders now and then
- 2:59Speaker 1: she posted something saying that he had hooked up with
- 3:02Speaker 1: his mom's best friend and I don't someone commented her photo.
- 3:08Speaker 1: She went Instagram Instagram official with the new who happens
- 3:13Speaker 1: to be her ex boyfriend's former best friend. Um, Zach
- 3:18Speaker 1: Wilson no longer follows his former best friend on Instagram
- 3:21Speaker 1: or anything, so you know the relationship has been severed. However,
- 3:26Speaker 1: once news of this got around, someone commented on the
- 3:29Speaker 1: ex girlfriend's Instagram post and called her a homie. Hopper.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So that's when she said, Oh, the real homie Hopper
- 3:36Speaker 1: is Zach himself, his mother's best friend. I mean, he
- 3:40Speaker 1: looks he's got that boyish look to him. But I
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't know what I mean. He's he's a player, so
- 3:45Speaker 1: other than other than like a fodder for away games. Like,
- 3:49Speaker 1: it's just it's like he's not gonna get in trouble
- 3:52Speaker 1: or anything. It's his private life, right, No, No, yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: I could figure out a way to get Fine open
- 3:58Speaker 1: to that. We could get him for some kid. I mean,
- 4:01Speaker 1: this is it's his own thing. He's just now the
- 4:03Speaker 1: subject of ridicule. I don't know. I think it's being
- 4:06Speaker 1: received really well from him. You think it's like a
- 4:09Speaker 1: badge of honor for him. That's how it's being treated
- 4:12Speaker 1: on the Twitter. Okay, all right, but his mother might
- 4:15Speaker 1: not be all that happy. But yeah, the mom and
- 4:17Speaker 1: her best friend probably have some stuff to work out.
- 4:19Speaker 1: But is the best friend is the mother of the
- 4:22Speaker 1: is the friend of the mother married? Oh that could be. Yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I didn't think of that. I assumed not. But that's
- 4:28Speaker 1: probably a bad assumption. That's what I'm wondering, Like, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and that's not cool. If he is that changes everything.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Don't be an adultererikes yeh in community will never be
- 4:41Speaker 1: the same, So Zach Wilson, but only the Jets, rightly,
- 4:45Speaker 1: the Jets. Yeah, I mean it's I mean we kind
- 4:47Speaker 1: of tease me, you know, Mac every like every other
- 4:49Speaker 1: day he pops up and he's sweaty throwing with a
- 4:51Speaker 1: different Patriots receiver at some part of the country. But like,
- 4:55Speaker 1: be boring, just do that, right, Like I don't need
- 4:57Speaker 1: to like be getting calls about this all day and
- 5:00Speaker 1: talking about your quarterback, you know, all that off the
- 5:02Speaker 1: field stuff. And so I'm glad we have a football nerve.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But we'll see what happens with Zach Wilson. I mean,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I don't think this is going to affect his play
- 5:10Speaker 1: on the field, but it's just, you know, something more
- 5:12Speaker 1: to talk about. I guess it's a gift that keeps
- 5:14Speaker 1: on giving right now though, in the last two weeks
- 5:16Speaker 1: before training camp, when there's really nothing else, That's why
- 5:20Speaker 1: it's the first thing you jump into. It's all anybody
- 5:22Speaker 1: could talk about her. I think Beatle and Zoe yesterday
- 5:25Speaker 1: they were talking about was it what was the debate?
- 5:28Speaker 1: It was like, it fits your mom's best friend or
- 5:30Speaker 1: your best friend's mom. Because they couldn't get it straight
- 5:33Speaker 1: at first, but then they started debating, what's worse if
- 5:36Speaker 1: you hooked up with your mom's best friend or your
- 5:38Speaker 1: best friends. I think you're with your best friend's mom
- 5:42Speaker 1: is worse, right, because I don't know why, but I
- 5:45Speaker 1: totally agree. Is it karma? Though? If he started dating
- 5:49Speaker 1: your ex girlfriend first, so you date his mom, that's
- 5:52Speaker 1: a good revenge. Yeah, that is a good revenge your mother.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Look at those here's ready here Gilett's stay. I think
- 6:02Speaker 1: I think they in New York, New Jersey area or
- 6:04Speaker 1: the Tri state area, they should have, you know, moms
- 6:06Speaker 1: for Zach the new fan club. They should all come
- 6:09Speaker 1: to games and hold up his big head and all that.
- 6:12Speaker 1: The content possibilities that we had our content call this morning,
- 6:15Speaker 1: imagine what the Jets version of that content call was, like,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, what can we do here? Can we get
- 6:18Speaker 1: a ye? Can we get an artist rendering something? Oh god,
- 6:23Speaker 1: it's silly, this is silly, but thank you, thank you
- 6:25Speaker 1: Zacho the something something to talk about? Um Condoleeza Rice
- 6:30Speaker 1: now part of the Broncos ownership team. I don't know
- 6:34Speaker 1: what percentage he has, but that's interesting news now where
- 6:37Speaker 1: they they found a new ownership or because I thought
- 6:40Speaker 1: that they were looking for Walton's all new So the
- 6:42Speaker 1: Waltons took it over, right, Is that official? Well isn't that?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Oh so they haven't. She's just part of that group. Oh,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't know, she's not. I thought that they were
- 6:51Speaker 1: part of the Broncho because I'm pretty sure it was
- 6:53Speaker 1: the wall you know, the Walmart family. That's Walton's right, right,
- 6:56Speaker 1: that right? Yeah, that's true. Um, I thought that is official.
- 7:00Speaker 1: It's not. I don't know all that stuff I saw
- 7:02Speaker 1: on Twitter, or maybe I just know that she's part
- 7:05Speaker 1: of it. Yeah, it was like like orange and stuff,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, it looked like official Broncos. Oh, definitely,
- 7:11Speaker 1: condoleez A Rice part of the ownership group is official?
- 7:15Speaker 1: That's official, right? But I thought the Waltons were the
- 7:17Speaker 1: ownership group that she became a part of. Maybe I
- 7:19Speaker 1: don't know, Okay, I don't know. It could be a
- 7:21Speaker 1: different minority. This one is from Pat Pat Pat not
- 7:27Speaker 1: no more. Yeah, I mean I know it was funny
- 7:29Speaker 1: when mean in California there was like a family that
- 7:31Speaker 1: Lane was like, no, they're one of the owners of
- 7:33Speaker 1: the Steelers, and I was like life, like no, like,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you know there was somebody that she was right, that's official.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Stan Cronkie is married to uh A Walton, so he
- 7:46Speaker 1: has his own money, but he married into the Walmart
- 7:49Speaker 1: money as well. I didn't know that. Yeah, so he's
- 7:52Speaker 1: that you know, he's loaded, but he's got his own money,
- 7:55Speaker 1: Like he didn't even need that. Um. I just mean
- 7:58Speaker 1: with some of these other teams, it seems like there's
- 8:00Speaker 1: your little ownership pockets. Like it was a family at
- 8:03Speaker 1: a school that they were like, We're one of the
- 8:04Speaker 1: owners of the steel I'm like, you're not the Rooneyes.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, there's some little pockets they might have,
- 8:11Speaker 1: like a But that's one of the things that like
- 8:15Speaker 1: in baseball, you hear more about minority owners in NBA too.
- 8:19Speaker 1: You don't hear about it that much in football, but
- 8:22Speaker 1: you know, like Miami was kind of the first team
- 8:25Speaker 1: to be public with who their minority owners are, cold
- 8:27Speaker 1: because they were famous. Yeah, they wanted to do that,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you know, but it'd be interesting to see who are
- 8:33Speaker 1: all the minority owners in the NFL. You know, that's
- 8:36Speaker 1: kind of a hidden list that don't really have any
- 8:39Speaker 1: impact in they don't have any to send to make
- 8:42Speaker 1: back there, and yeah, and make little money off of
- 8:44Speaker 1: it and then no more Hinesfield. No more Hinesfield now
- 8:48Speaker 1: or something like Yeah, sounds right, I've never heard of before.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Now what are they? What kind of condiments do they make?
- 8:57Speaker 1: I don't know, as it's hard to say insurance. Sounds
- 9:02Speaker 1: like a Lamb insurance company exactly. Yeah. So the next
- 9:07Speaker 1: time we which is what week two? Yeah, as long
- 9:09Speaker 1: as they don't change in Pittsburgh week two, Yeah, as
- 9:11Speaker 1: long as they don't change the food offerings there. They
- 9:14Speaker 1: were pretty good food strong too, quite strong. Yeah, it's
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's um old guy football food. Oh you know, so
- 9:20Speaker 1: it works for you and I hot dogs, nachos, you know,
- 9:24Speaker 1: closes the otteries. Yeah, works for Fred and I. Yeah, wow, Fred,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I don't know. I know you're going on a diet.
- 9:31Speaker 1: It'll be going wild on your road trips. Now, Oh,
- 9:35Speaker 1: that could complicates brakes across the bridge when you have
- 9:43Speaker 1: to do like a food report when you're on the road,
- 9:44Speaker 1: like this is here everything I had, right, But we
- 9:47Speaker 1: probably should talk about Robert Kraft. Yeah, uh, semi finalists
- 9:52Speaker 1: for the Hall of Fame. Now it's not the first
- 9:53Speaker 1: time he's been on the list, right, I do not know,
- 9:57Speaker 1: but I think to get this far um, and then
- 10:01Speaker 1: in August they'll announce who the finalists are. Um. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: think he's got a better than good shot this year. Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And there's uh, and there's's two different categories. There's a
- 10:09Speaker 1: seniors list and then there's a coach contributors list. UM.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Obviously Robert Kraft is on the contributors part. And there's
- 10:18Speaker 1: August twenty three will be the meeting whether that committee
- 10:21Speaker 1: will decide on the one candidate that they'll present, um,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you know, with the regular Hall of Fame committee that
- 10:28Speaker 1: will vote, you know whatever. That it's usually right before
- 10:31Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, during Super Bowl Week at some point.
- 10:33Speaker 1: They they have that dating and COVID kind of screwed
- 10:36Speaker 1: things up the timing, so it was a little bit
- 10:38Speaker 1: different last year. Okay, Um, I think it was earlier
- 10:42Speaker 1: than that, and they kept it secret as I recall, Oh, yeah, yeah,
- 10:46Speaker 1: yeah they did. Yeah, they you know that they did,
- 10:49Speaker 1: but they don't announce it until the Super Bright And
- 10:52Speaker 1: they also have the Seniors committee will narrow down their
- 10:56Speaker 1: list to three and that they get in. Yes, his
- 11:02Speaker 1: numbers are insane. I mean, everybody that listens to this
- 11:05Speaker 1: show knows how much I loved that version of the Patriots.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And he was certainly in a small handful of the
- 11:12Speaker 1: guys that I gravitated toward nineteen point two yards per
- 11:15Speaker 1: catch for his career. Right, it's an NFL record for
- 11:18Speaker 1: anybody with more than five hundred catches. You know, just
- 11:23Speaker 1: a couple of guys, John Stalworth and Lin Swan, both
- 11:25Speaker 1: great players, and I'm not saying they don't belong in
- 11:28Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame. They were a huge part of
- 11:30Speaker 1: the NFL's dynasty of the time, right, So I'm not
- 11:33Speaker 1: telling you they don't belong. Stanley Morgan's numbers are greater
- 11:36Speaker 1: than those guys. And for Stalworth and Morgan, they both
- 11:39Speaker 1: played fourteen years, so it's not like, well, he was
- 11:43Speaker 1: just a product of longevity. The guy was immense for
- 11:46Speaker 1: some good teams. Not great teams, but they had good
- 11:49Speaker 1: teams in the seventies and then you know into the
- 11:51Speaker 1: middle eighties where they went to the Super Bowl and
- 11:54Speaker 1: lost to Chicago. But I think for a lot of
- 11:57Speaker 1: those players, it'd be tough to get in. For a
- 11:59Speaker 1: lot of those players, even including Andre Tippett, you know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: it took him a while and because they just never won. Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: you know, they didn't win championships. But like, but it
- 12:08Speaker 1: had Stanley Morgan been on a team that won a
- 12:11Speaker 1: couple of Super Bowls, he'd be in. Oh yeah, he'd
- 12:14Speaker 1: be in. I don't have the like instant recall to
- 12:16Speaker 1: remember a lot of his plays, But I mean, what
- 12:19Speaker 1: do you think his impact would be if he played today?
- 12:21Speaker 1: As I mean you mentioned the gad a lot of
- 12:24Speaker 1: yards now, there's no there's no telling. Now, obviously he
- 12:29Speaker 1: wouldn't average nineteen point two yards per catch because it's
- 12:32Speaker 1: a much different game. He was a speed burner in
- 12:34Speaker 1: every sense of the word. He was. He was like
- 12:37Speaker 1: Moss in terms of his ability to get deep. But
- 12:40Speaker 1: he would not be you know, the numbers would be
- 12:42Speaker 1: different because he would have had to have, you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: done all the things they do. Would he'd be like
- 12:48Speaker 1: a Brandon Cooks type of guy. That type of production
- 12:50Speaker 1: could be. Yeah, it could be. I mean he's a
- 12:53Speaker 1: thousand yard a season Yuy. Yeah, Now I think he's
- 12:57Speaker 1: obviously better than Cooks, but yeah, I think that he
- 13:00Speaker 1: could be that kind of a guy where you're just
- 13:02Speaker 1: seeing a lot of a lot of big plays. Yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 1: so he's and then Bucko Kilroy. Yeah, now he's a
- 13:08Speaker 1: guy that maybe youngs be intelligently on Bucko. No, but
- 13:12Speaker 1: I remember years ago I talked, I sat down with
- 13:16Speaker 1: Nancy Meyer, who has been you know, in our personal
- 13:19Speaker 1: department for a long long time. Gets younger, Yeah, over
- 13:23Speaker 1: forty years, and so she was she remembers Bucko, and um,
- 13:27Speaker 1: Bucko was a good personnel guy. He was really well
- 13:30Speaker 1: respected around the league. He was the director of player
- 13:33Speaker 1: Personnel for a long time, and he was the g
- 13:36Speaker 1: oh god from that like the early seventies through the
- 13:39Speaker 1: mid nineties, no, actually into the two he was even
- 13:43Speaker 1: like a scout emeritus, you know with Poli. I remember
- 13:47Speaker 1: having a conversation with with Peoli about Bucco once. But um, yeah,
- 13:52Speaker 1: he was the GM for a few years I think
- 13:54Speaker 1: in the late seventies, early eighties somewhere around. I mean,
- 13:56Speaker 1: he's another one, and he was a great player, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: people can pair him to Gil Brandt. Now, Gil brand
- 14:02Speaker 1: they called the godfather of scouting, and you know he's
- 14:05Speaker 1: with cowboys and they had their success. But again it's
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, Bucko never had the success that a guy
- 14:12Speaker 1: like Gil brand had, you know, it was like Mickey
- 14:14Speaker 1: and Rocky because he never had a manager rights. It
- 14:18Speaker 1: says in his Wikipedia he was seventy one to two
- 14:20Speaker 1: thousand and seven with the Patriots, So he was here
- 14:22Speaker 1: in the early part. He was kind of a figurehead
- 14:27Speaker 1: at that time. Yeah, but he was I mean, he
- 14:30Speaker 1: was here, Yeah, he was at Like I remember that's
- 14:32Speaker 1: when I talked to Peoli about like sort of the
- 14:35Speaker 1: situation that they had with the way that they built Gillette,
- 14:39Speaker 1: you know, in terms of the conveniences and you know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: like Bucco needed, you know, some amenities. So it was
- 14:44Speaker 1: a little older. Did we did the Patriots kind of
- 14:47Speaker 1: whiff by not making him a contributor in their Hall
- 14:50Speaker 1: of Fame? Bucko Kilroy, I don't know, you know, whyn't
- 14:55Speaker 1: you throw us under the bus a little more there? No,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I'm just you know, throwing it out there. I mean,
- 14:59Speaker 1: like he it's a possibility get in the senior list
- 15:03Speaker 1: for the Hall of Fame, and then he's not in
- 15:05Speaker 1: the Patriots Hall of Fame. Yeah, I mean, just to
- 15:08Speaker 1: be clear, the semifinal Like I don't really understand how
- 15:11Speaker 1: like you get a semifinalist list that has fifty four
- 15:14Speaker 1: people on it. But I think there were twenty nine
- 15:17Speaker 1: coaches slash contributors. So the semifinalists are considered twenty nine,
- 15:23Speaker 1: and then there's going to be one guy chosen for that,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and evidently Robert Kraft has a strong chance of being
- 15:31Speaker 1: that one guy. And we sort of put something up
- 15:33Speaker 1: this morning on that the coach, the senior committee for
- 15:37Speaker 1: the just for the players. That's what Stanley Morgan is
- 15:40Speaker 1: and I believe three players will be whittled down to
- 15:44Speaker 1: be presented to the regular Hall of Fame committee. So
- 15:47Speaker 1: but in other words, I'm trying to say, it's not
- 15:50Speaker 1: like Bucko is a breath away from the Hall of Fame.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Now there's twenty nine guys vying for one spot full consideration. Yep.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So those are the three names. But going back to
- 16:00Speaker 1: Robert Kraft, Jerry Jones got in a couple of years ago.
- 16:04Speaker 1: To me, if he's in, Robert Kraft should be in
- 16:08Speaker 1: on a banana appeal. Yeah, because like I look at
- 16:11Speaker 1: what Jerry Jones. He did a lot of things for
- 16:13Speaker 1: the Cowboys in terms of you know, bringing in money
- 16:17Speaker 1: and you know, bringing in talent there, but in terms
- 16:21Speaker 1: of what who did more for pro football? In the NFL,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I think Robert Kraft beats him easily. What year did
- 16:29Speaker 1: Jerry Jones buy the Cowboys? It was early nineties, right,
- 16:35Speaker 1: eighty nine, so they had already oh yeah, Patriots, right,
- 16:41Speaker 1: but they were rock bottom when they were they were.
- 16:43Speaker 1: He brought him back. But to me, getting into the
- 16:47Speaker 1: Pro Football Hall of Fame is not just about what
- 16:49Speaker 1: you did for your team. Oh yeah, well, I mean
- 16:52Speaker 1: you go to twenty eleven, the picture of Robert and
- 16:55Speaker 1: Jeff Saturday and yeah, and the credit that they did
- 16:58Speaker 1: and the CBA deals that made my story. You know,
- 17:01Speaker 1: that's a good one. It's a good that's a big
- 17:03Speaker 1: moment though. And I mean I think a lot of
- 17:04Speaker 1: people gave him credit as being the one who kind of,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you know, helped get get that deal done. To me,
- 17:10Speaker 1: what what separates I agree with you, Freddie. What separates
- 17:12Speaker 1: Robert and Jerry Jones too, and I'll give him his due,
- 17:15Speaker 1: is their their ability to work on these committees that
- 17:17Speaker 1: are like instrumental in for Robert Kraft, none bigger than
- 17:21Speaker 1: being the chairman of the Media Media Rights Committee, right,
- 17:25Speaker 1: which is where money comes, that's the lifeblood of the league. Yeah, well,
- 17:29Speaker 1: it's the media committee and the CBA are intertwined because
- 17:35Speaker 1: once you have the piece for ten years through the CBA,
- 17:39Speaker 1: then it's easier to do those media deals. You know,
- 17:42Speaker 1: then NBC and CBA they're like, Okay, I'm buying into
- 17:45Speaker 1: a league that's not going to go on strike for
- 17:47Speaker 1: ten years. And Jerry Jones was a part of a
- 17:49Speaker 1: lot of those different committees, different maybe different ones than
- 17:52Speaker 1: Robert was. But I'll give him his due on that too.
- 17:55Speaker 1: As much as people around here probably don't like, Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and what what Jerry did I think was I think
- 18:00Speaker 1: good for the league was pushing these marketing deals. You know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: he kind of paved the way for the big marketing deals.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You know, the league would have Coke as their sponsor,
- 18:11Speaker 1: but because Jerry owned a stadium, he'd bring in Pepsi
- 18:14Speaker 1: and bring in that extra revenue and showed the way
- 18:17Speaker 1: for owners to make more money, you know, maximize your investment,
- 18:22Speaker 1: make more money. So you know, like it sounds like, oh,
- 18:27Speaker 1: that's just making money, that's just greed and all that,
- 18:29Speaker 1: but you know, you needed somebody in the league to
- 18:33Speaker 1: kind of push the other owners to maximize what they're doing.
- 18:37Speaker 1: It's a it's a whole nother angle of how people
- 18:39Speaker 1: are inducted from this, from ownership and this side of it.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And I wonder about the NFL the voters, and you know,
- 18:45Speaker 1: what are the metrics that they use, because certainly all
- 18:48Speaker 1: the owners know the guys that drove certain deals or
- 18:51Speaker 1: on certain committees and were key parts. What do the
- 18:54Speaker 1: voters know about that though? You know, like did they
- 18:56Speaker 1: just kind of take in it's Robert Craft and of
- 18:58Speaker 1: course twenty eleven and you know that's yeah, somebody steps
- 19:03Speaker 1: up and you don't just like go to in a
- 19:05Speaker 1: room and say, I don't know, what do you think
- 19:06Speaker 1: of Stanley Morgan? You're going there's like a dossier of
- 19:10Speaker 1: information on these guys. Yeah, and you have a presenter. Yeah,
- 19:14Speaker 1: it's just different. Whereas a player, here's his stats, here's
- 19:17Speaker 1: the teams he was on. Here, you know, here's kind
- 19:19Speaker 1: of respect that you played against him. But who would
- 19:21Speaker 1: present on behalf of Robert Kraft? You mean if you
- 19:24Speaker 1: got to, you know, inducted to a ceremony or who
- 19:27Speaker 1: would make the case for him? Man would make the case?
- 19:29Speaker 1: My guess is they would reach out to Borges really
- 19:32Speaker 1: to do it. Yeah, Well, you can't reach out to
- 19:34Speaker 1: someone who's not there. I don't trust him. Well, he's
- 19:37Speaker 1: done very well for the Patriots candidates, I know, but
- 19:41Speaker 1: I don't know if he's owner friendly, you know, that
- 19:46Speaker 1: would speak volumes the other way. Then yeah, we'll have
- 19:48Speaker 1: to get Brian Morey in the room. Yeah, that's not happening.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I mean Peter King, Peter yeah, maybe yeah, right, yep.
- 19:58Speaker 1: How dumb is Peter King? I don't know about dumb
- 20:01Speaker 1: wishy washy. So Jonathan inducted maybe, yeah, Jonathan would I
- 20:07Speaker 1: think so, you know, if he if he was, if
- 20:09Speaker 1: he made it, if he was inducted, Jonathan would absolutely
- 20:11Speaker 1: be the guy. I think it would be Jonathan. Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 1: that are you? Yeah, I go, I go. Who who
- 20:18Speaker 1: win ducks? Tom Brady his father would be a good
- 20:22Speaker 1: picks father, Alex you and who win ducks? Bill Belichick
- 20:26Speaker 1: this evening. That's a good question. That's a good question.
- 20:30Speaker 1: His son maybe yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe Mike Schevskim not
- 20:40Speaker 1: like some Yeah, no, Tom kind of the flex. I
- 20:46Speaker 1: think I think you might be a good one with
- 20:47Speaker 1: Brady though his father. Yeah. But between Kraft, Belichick and Brady,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I think they all get in. And I think despite
- 20:55Speaker 1: you know, whatever, attentions they might have had. I think
- 20:58Speaker 1: they'll all be at each other there's induction. Oh gotta
- 21:01Speaker 1: be Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, and Tom Brady. So if lock, yeah, lock,
- 21:08Speaker 1: when Robert gets in Brady and Belichick, will Belichick left
- 21:11Speaker 1: training camp to go to Parcels's. Yeah, like there's there's
- 21:16Speaker 1: a there's no chance unless something happens like unforeseen circumstances. Yeah,
- 21:21Speaker 1: there's no question that they would all be at each other's. Absolutely. Absolutely,
- 21:26Speaker 1: we'd like roll out some red carpet for the content department,
- 21:29Speaker 1: Like will we go out there? Do you think for
- 21:30Speaker 1: like when Bill or well, we're doing a lot this
- 21:33Speaker 1: year with Richard Seymour, Um, you know we'll have a
- 21:36Speaker 1: lot of behind the scenes coverage of him. Um, but
- 21:40Speaker 1: I can't. Yeah, I mean with Robert or any of
- 21:43Speaker 1: those three, I would hope, you know, we'll get some
- 21:46Speaker 1: inside access. Brady maybe not as much because you know
- 21:49Speaker 1: he didn't finish here, and but certainly with Robert and
- 21:53Speaker 1: Belichick we'd be all over that. Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, that
- 21:56Speaker 1: was That's an amazing place. I stopped there and when
- 21:58Speaker 1: I moved back for the day, I mean just that
- 22:02Speaker 1: that room with the bus it's so cool. That's one
- 22:04Speaker 1: where we should rent an RV. Yeah, go up, yeah, yeah, huh,
- 22:08Speaker 1: Fred and I have been. I've never been there for
- 22:12Speaker 1: an induction ceremony. No, yeah, no, I'd like to see
- 22:15Speaker 1: how it works. Well, we actually we were, but we
- 22:19Speaker 1: didn't go to the We didn't go to it. We
- 22:21Speaker 1: were up there at that time when we went for
- 22:22Speaker 1: the game. Yeah, that's when the ceremony is, but we
- 22:25Speaker 1: didn't go to it, No, because we didn't have any Patriots. Right.
- 22:28Speaker 1: What year was that hall? Do you? Guys played two
- 22:30Speaker 1: thousand bradies first? Every game? Right? Wow? But I was
- 22:35Speaker 1: Dennis Miller but I was I was all I was
- 22:38Speaker 1: also there. Um and then we went again. Yeah, I
- 22:42Speaker 1: was also there with a peat Carroll wasn't. Didn't we
- 22:44Speaker 1: go with Pete Carroll? I didn't know you did. You're
- 22:48Speaker 1: much more fancy, remember, Yeah? Much like no, never mind? Um,
- 22:53Speaker 1: when we uh, where do we? We were coming back
- 22:57Speaker 1: from where we stopped at the Hall of Fame. It
- 23:00Speaker 1: was much more recently. It was not after did you
- 23:03Speaker 1: godnt go? But that's why I was thinking Detroit? But
- 23:08Speaker 1: I was like, no, Mike was there, but you had
- 23:10Speaker 1: just started and you went to Nashville. Yeah, when we
- 23:13Speaker 1: went to Detroit for practices, we I believe we took
- 23:18Speaker 1: a pit stop in Canton at some point. Matt, you
- 23:21Speaker 1: were there, Yeah, I didn't. I wasn't there. Yeah. That
- 23:28Speaker 1: here's the thing I remember about that. There was a
- 23:30Speaker 1: kid with a Tom Brady shirt on, like a Michigan shirt,
- 23:35Speaker 1: number ten, and he was literally standing right next to
- 23:39Speaker 1: Brady and had no idea. He had no idea that
- 23:42Speaker 1: next did anyone make him aware? And we were kind
- 23:45Speaker 1: of like all laughing, you know, and you know how
- 23:47Speaker 1: it goes like the players were in a room, so
- 23:49Speaker 1: the riff for f you know, had to be somewhere else.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Weren't the itch is there too? Weren't they part of
- 23:54Speaker 1: the They were at the practices. I don't remember them
- 23:56Speaker 1: at the Hall of Fame. Funny, imagine Tom Brady righting
- 24:00Speaker 1: back here. You don't realize that. Yeah, So i'n't been
- 24:02Speaker 1: in Hall of Fame in a long time since. So
- 24:04Speaker 1: that was probably eighteen that we were there, because that
- 24:07Speaker 1: was probably Tom's last year, nineteen. It would have been
- 24:11Speaker 1: what else anything? No, No, I was pretty quiet. We
- 24:17Speaker 1: can get to like other stuff. What do you got?
- 24:20Speaker 1: I don't know I don't really have anything pretty quiet.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I figured it'll come. You got a lot of people emailing,
- 24:24Speaker 1: people calling, So once you read something, you know, a
- 24:27Speaker 1: lot of a lot of a lot of questions in
- 24:28Speaker 1: the mail bag this week about the defense. I really
- 24:30Speaker 1: appreciate that it is a defensive centric mail bag this week,
- 24:34Speaker 1: So thank you for everybody for all those call I
- 24:36Speaker 1: think I've convinced everyone not to be worried about the
- 24:39Speaker 1: offense this year, that we're in pretty good shape. Let's
- 24:42Speaker 1: focus on the defense. Yeah. That or I've convinced everybody
- 24:45Speaker 1: they should really be concerned about the defense. The show
- 24:48Speaker 1: of defensive doom. Yeah, I don't mean I'm not I'm not.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I just there's always a little excitement when young guys
- 24:54Speaker 1: are gonna get a chance, but there's also some concern
- 24:57Speaker 1: that those guys aren't gonna be able to play at
- 24:58Speaker 1: a high level and do it way that you know
- 25:01Speaker 1: it needs to be done to compete in this league
- 25:03Speaker 1: right now and especially the AFC with all I mean,
- 25:05Speaker 1: every week, it's going to be something new, and you
- 25:09Speaker 1: know when you're unsure if they've got like I feel
- 25:11Speaker 1: good about the safety position. I feel like they got
- 25:13Speaker 1: a lot of depth there, and you know, lots of
- 25:15Speaker 1: regardless of the level of the number one, who will
- 25:18Speaker 1: emerge as the number one cornerback on this team. I'm
- 25:23Speaker 1: gonna go out on a limb and say, Terrence Mitchell really, yeah, Yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 1: that's not a good thing. Yeah. I mean, I think
- 25:31Speaker 1: he's had a good couple of years. Okay, he's experience,
- 25:34Speaker 1: he gets his hands on a lot of balls. I mean,
- 25:35Speaker 1: I'm not going to try to tell you that he's
- 25:36Speaker 1: going to be a shutdown corner but I think overall,
- 25:40Speaker 1: given how they play and what they need, I think
- 25:42Speaker 1: he's he could be better than Mills. And I'm not
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'm not sure on Butler left, but Butler's got to
- 25:46Speaker 1: show me he's still got it. But I think Mitchell
- 25:49Speaker 1: is a guy who's in his prime, has put together
- 25:51Speaker 1: two solid years, and you know, might just be the
- 25:53Speaker 1: solid cornerback that you're getting. Any chance that Jack Jones
- 25:57Speaker 1: can emerge, yes as the number one guy number one, No,
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't think so. But I think he could potentially
- 26:04Speaker 1: be a starter opposite Mitchell. I could see that. I'll
- 26:06Speaker 1: paraphrase one of your favorite things. If that happens, then
- 26:09Speaker 1: something terribly wrong is usually go the opposite way, Like,
- 26:13Speaker 1: if if Tae Kwon Thornton doesn't play, that's really good, right,
- 26:17Speaker 1: because it means the other guys are playing great. If
- 26:19Speaker 1: Jack Jones is the best cornerback they have, that means
- 26:22Speaker 1: that all the stuff that Mike just said didn't happen. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:25Speaker 1: Jalen Mills, Terrence Mitchell, Malcolm but where they all crapped
- 26:28Speaker 1: out I think. I mean, it's hard to see him. Yeah,
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's hard to see him beating out Mills as a
- 26:34Speaker 1: rookie fourth round pick that weighs one hundred and seventy
- 26:36Speaker 1: five pounds. He emerges as your number one corner out
- 26:38Speaker 1: of the show. I'm not telling you he can't emerge
- 26:40Speaker 1: as a good player. Yeah, Like he could be a
- 26:42Speaker 1: good player, but he emerges out of the shoot. Is
- 26:45Speaker 1: your best best cornerback, but not out of the shoot.
- 26:47Speaker 1: But eventually I'm talking about that in his first year yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 1: by the end of the year it becomes yeah, that
- 26:53Speaker 1: would be bad. Be good for him, but that means
- 26:56Speaker 1: that you don't have a good cornerback. Yeah. Or injury,
- 26:59Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's the thing. I think an
- 27:01Speaker 1: injury might have to open the door to him. But
- 27:03Speaker 1: I mean, we know what Butler's ball skills were kind
- 27:06Speaker 1: of like, and I think those were a little bit
- 27:07Speaker 1: overrated based on the interception he had. I think there's
- 27:10Speaker 1: been there's a lot of catchable interceptions he missed over
- 27:12Speaker 1: the course of his career. But like I said, Mitchell,
- 27:16Speaker 1: bunch of bunch of forced fumbles and hands to pass
- 27:18Speaker 1: his defense. And we saw Jack Jones in the summer
- 27:21Speaker 1: all around the ball. So if they're doing those things,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I could see I could see Jack Jones making a
- 27:25Speaker 1: push at least like Butler did. Right, Butler at his
- 27:27Speaker 1: hands a bunch of balls. As I think Jack Jones
- 27:29Speaker 1: can play, I think he has a chance to play.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I'm not I'm just saying the number one. Like Malcolm Butler,
- 27:35Speaker 1: we weren't talking about being the best follow Hill's feisty. Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 1: well I gotta editor. Yeah, yeah, I think Jack Jones
- 27:43Speaker 1: can be that. Yeah, it seems like he's got a
- 27:44Speaker 1: little nose for the ball. But I don't Yeah, I
- 27:46Speaker 1: mean definitely not weak one go lineup. But when but
- 27:49Speaker 1: when Malcolm Butler was here as a rookie, so was
- 27:52Speaker 1: Darrell Reeves, and right and and the other guy that's
- 27:55Speaker 1: an interesting question though, do you feel like he wouldn't
- 27:57Speaker 1: have been kind of stored on the bench that whole
- 27:59Speaker 1: season had they, you know, not had those guys. If
- 28:02Speaker 1: they had, if they had this crew, we wouldn't have
- 28:04Speaker 1: been But if it hadn't had Revson, I mean, because
- 28:07Speaker 1: even what Arrington was Arrington the one that they yanked
- 28:10Speaker 1: to put him into into Super Bowl forty nine. So
- 28:13Speaker 1: I mean, even Arrington had a tough Super Bowl, right yeah,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and he played throughout the year. I mean, he didn't
- 28:19Speaker 1: play a ton. I'm not pretending that he was a
- 28:22Speaker 1: major contributor, but he did play during the course of
- 28:25Speaker 1: the season. That's why I wonder if that's like the
- 28:27Speaker 1: model for Jack Jones. You know, like could have make
- 28:30Speaker 1: some plays on the ball this summer, and oh he's
- 28:32Speaker 1: in the mix, and then he's kind of that rotational piece,
- 28:35Speaker 1: give him some snaps here and there. But I mean,
- 28:37Speaker 1: it certainly could spell the end for like Juwan Williams,
- 28:40Speaker 1: Sean Wade. Those guys are you know, they're kind of
- 28:42Speaker 1: afterthoughts right now in the middle, so they're gonna need
- 28:45Speaker 1: to make some plays and make the most of their
- 28:46Speaker 1: opportunities when they get in there, all right, eight five
- 28:49Speaker 1: five Pats five hundred is the ace ticket hut line
- 28:51Speaker 1: eight five five pats five hundred. Web radio at Patriots
- 28:54Speaker 1: dot com is the email address. Let's go to the phones.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Patty's an agawam. What's up? Patty? What's up? Everyone? All right?
- 29:02Speaker 1: Hey Beatty? So I got a question for Paul, non
- 29:06Speaker 1: football related. Then I got a football question, so Polly, yes,
- 29:12Speaker 1: sir millerle light aluminum aluminum pints. Have you tried him yet?
- 29:17Speaker 1: Of course? Aluminum pints. Yeah, aluminum pints like tallboys. That's
- 29:23Speaker 1: like a tall boy come sixteen o? Yeah, yeah, And
- 29:27Speaker 1: I think nothing question, I think of this. I'm drinking
- 29:31Speaker 1: one right now. What what do you want? So? I
- 29:34Speaker 1: started doing this on Memorial Day for whatever reason, I
- 29:38Speaker 1: just took a placed line and put it in there.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Normally I don't blake lime in my fer, but I'm
- 29:43Speaker 1: telling me give it a shot. Okay, all right? We
- 29:48Speaker 1: had that convert conas. Why did Coronas only get the
- 29:51Speaker 1: lime marketing? Somebody wrote in and told us marketing at
- 29:55Speaker 1: what it was, there was a reason. That question is
- 30:01Speaker 1: how percentage wise, as far as like fans and media go,
- 30:07Speaker 1: how many, how how big of a percent do you
- 30:09Speaker 1: think people would lose their mind if they took tyke
- 30:12Speaker 1: on Thornton just to specifically be a gunner. I'll Matt
- 30:16Speaker 1: Matthews later, Yeah, I shut your mouth. Second round? Yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: a thousand percent, Yeah, like pissed off beyond right? Right?
- 30:28Speaker 1: All right? Then I don't know what he what does
- 30:30Speaker 1: he do when he's on the phone. He's like all
- 30:32Speaker 1: over the moving around, moving around, keeping them busy. Brian's
- 30:37Speaker 1: in Indiana. Hey, Brian, Hey, how's it going? Everyone good?
- 30:42Speaker 1: You're not to Brian in Indiana. I thought it would be.
- 30:44Speaker 1: There's another Brian Indiana now, very distinct voice. There's not
- 30:50Speaker 1: over a year now, And uh, I just have one
- 30:53Speaker 1: quick question. Um, Bill Belichick likes to hold players that honable,
- 31:01Speaker 1: and when it comes to his work posted Brady or
- 31:05Speaker 1: just without Brady in general, it hasn't really been up
- 31:09Speaker 1: to part And I guess my only question is like
- 31:13Speaker 1: how many if this doesn't work this year and we
- 31:15Speaker 1: don't go deep in the playoffs, and you know, Taekwon
- 31:19Speaker 1: Thorn isn't working and Cole Strange is a bus at
- 31:21Speaker 1: what point do we look at Belichick and go it's you?
- 31:26Speaker 1: And how long? How many years do we give them
- 31:28Speaker 1: before we eventually, you know, it feels like Belichick and
- 31:32Speaker 1: Greg Popovitch and the NBA are kind of very similar
- 31:35Speaker 1: where it just kind of feels like every last thing real.
- 31:38Speaker 1: But rebuild Popovich more than Belichick. But well, you said,
- 31:44Speaker 1: if they don't go deep in the playoffs and if
- 31:46Speaker 1: cold Strange is the bust, and if taekwon, Thornton is
- 31:49Speaker 1: no good if but like so like last year, but
- 31:53Speaker 1: but he's not going anywhere. If it's like last right,
- 31:55Speaker 1: if they go four and thirteen, there's a conversation, that's right,
- 31:58Speaker 1: see it. You know, going deep in the playoffs, you
- 32:01Speaker 1: could still make the playoffs. And I think that would
- 32:03Speaker 1: be okay. If they don't make the playoffs at all,
- 32:06Speaker 1: if they're just terrible, and like you said, cold Strange
- 32:09Speaker 1: is a bus, Thornton is does nothing. Um, I think
- 32:14Speaker 1: I think the seat becomes hot. I think too. I
- 32:17Speaker 1: don't even think it's as much about the rookies as
- 32:19Speaker 1: it is the second and third year young guys. The
- 32:23Speaker 1: other way, none of that's going to happen about it.
- 32:25Speaker 1: It's those guys, because I mean, I think those are
- 32:27Speaker 1: still some elements in the roster that are unknown that
- 32:30Speaker 1: are going to be forced into playing now. So I
- 32:32Speaker 1: think we're gonna have a clearer picture on the twenty
- 32:34Speaker 1: twenty and twenty twenty one draft after this season. And
- 32:37Speaker 1: you know, like like we said, the drafts hadn't been
- 32:39Speaker 1: good enough, that's why they kind of hit this lull.
- 32:42Speaker 1: If those guys are good, then things seem right, they're
- 32:44Speaker 1: back on the upswing a little bit, then then maybe
- 32:46Speaker 1: something's there. But if those guys fall on their flace face,
- 32:49Speaker 1: if you don't really get anything out of one of
- 32:51Speaker 1: the one or two of those rookies that are are
- 32:53Speaker 1: you know, good impacts like you've gotten the last couple
- 32:55Speaker 1: of years from rookies with Barmore, Mac Jones, dugger. Um.
- 33:00Speaker 1: You know, then then you're starting to say, what do
- 33:01Speaker 1: we got? What do we got? Long term? We don't.
- 33:02Speaker 1: We haven't drafted well and we've had not only was
- 33:05Speaker 1: nineteen bad, twenty was bad, twenty one wasn't. We didn't
- 33:07Speaker 1: get enough what we need and yeah, it's really fallen.
- 33:10Speaker 1: The other thing you have to look at with any team, Um,
- 33:14Speaker 1: if you have like a mediocre record or you know,
- 33:16Speaker 1: a losing record, it's the grumblings. What are what's the leaking,
- 33:21Speaker 1: what's the what are people saying behind the scenes, and
- 33:24Speaker 1: you know, has the coach lost the locker room? Is
- 33:27Speaker 1: the message not getting in that to to an owner,
- 33:30Speaker 1: that sometimes means more than just the record, you know,
- 33:33Speaker 1: like he's lost the you know, he's um you know.
- 33:38Speaker 1: So that's that happens with any team, you know, like
- 33:42Speaker 1: how do you can you survive having a bad season
- 33:45Speaker 1: in the locker room? Yeah, okay, all right, thanks Brian.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Uh Rashad's in Baltimore. Hey, Rashad? Hey, what's that that? Hey? Hey,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I just wanted to I wanted to say I can't
- 34:05Speaker 1: try to run outside. I wanted to talk about the
- 34:08Speaker 1: top ten quarterback list. Now, I'm not going to say
- 34:12Speaker 1: anything about Mac Jones fan top ten. I wanted to say,
- 34:17Speaker 1: why is why is the uh Justin Herbert? Why is
- 34:21Speaker 1: Justin Herbert being ranked so high and he hasn't done anything? Okay,
- 34:27Speaker 1: so this is the ESPN list that came out. I
- 34:29Speaker 1: definitely will put Lamar Jackson in a top ten. Yeah
- 34:32Speaker 1: that's a good debate. I didn't even see the list.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I just heard that Lamar Jackson wasn't on it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:38Speaker 1: I think you can make an argree for Lamar Jackson. Yeah,
- 34:41Speaker 1: I mean, but I think it's it's tough. Yeah, No,
- 34:45Speaker 1: that's that's that's just saying. I think that's a that's
- 34:47Speaker 1: a tough call there. I could see that Lamar Jackson
- 34:49Speaker 1: being in and maybe him being out. Well, does any
- 34:53Speaker 1: can you rattle off the list? Do you have it
- 34:55Speaker 1: in front of you or does anyone? Yeah, it was
- 34:58Speaker 1: they have Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Tom Brady,
- 35:03Speaker 1: Joe Barrow, Matt Stanford. Then didn he had Justin Herbert Russell, Wilson,
- 35:08Speaker 1: DeShawn Watson, then Dak Prescott. Okay, I'm trying to Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 1: I don't I mean, I don't know. Watson. I think
- 35:16Speaker 1: should be like an incomplete I don't think you should
- 35:18Speaker 1: be able to be on the list right now. He
- 35:20Speaker 1: hasn't played in two years, you know, I mean one
- 35:23Speaker 1: year I didn't play last year, men play the year before.
- 35:30Speaker 1: But I definitely would take Lamar over both of there.
- 35:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't take Lamar over to Shawn Watson. I would
- 35:35Speaker 1: take him, Um, I'd take him over. I would take
- 35:37Speaker 1: over Dak Prescott. I'd take him over Dak. But I
- 35:40Speaker 1: think that's it. I don't know. I mean i'd take
- 35:41Speaker 1: her for I don't. I mean, like I said, I
- 35:44Speaker 1: think we're picking nits a little bit like you're talking
- 35:47Speaker 1: about the top ten. I think they all. You know,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you can make an argument. You can make an argument
- 35:51Speaker 1: for Herbert, you can make an our argument for Jackson,
- 35:54Speaker 1: and you can definitely make an hour an argument for
- 35:56Speaker 1: Dak Prescott. The thing is too like leaving Yeah, leaving
- 36:00Speaker 1: Justin Hebert off the list isn't going to spark as
- 36:03Speaker 1: much like controversy. It's not going to get people talking
- 36:05Speaker 1: about the article as much. Whereas you leave a guy
- 36:08Speaker 1: like Lamar you think it wasn't because it was because
- 36:13Speaker 1: it was fifty like like personnel guy. It was all
- 36:17Speaker 1: like it's according to NFL executives slash personnel guys and
- 36:22Speaker 1: all that, and they don't know who's on the list.
- 36:26Speaker 1: They're just offering their opinions, right. And then the guy
- 36:28Speaker 1: who wrote I think it was Jeremy Fowler who put
- 36:31Speaker 1: it together, right, I think that he's been doing the
- 36:34Speaker 1: positional ones, which I want to get back to something
- 36:38Speaker 1: about these positional lists before. No patriots in the on
- 36:41Speaker 1: the safety list. For as strong as we think the
- 36:44Speaker 1: Patriot's safeties are Evidently the league doesn't agree. Um so
- 36:51Speaker 1: I don't think it's necessarily because you try and to,
- 36:53Speaker 1: you know, like, and I know exactly what you're talking about, Alex,
- 36:55Speaker 1: You're you're right, um oh, this will get a buzz. Well,
- 36:59Speaker 1: you know, I thought it was a little odd that
- 37:02Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers has one and Brady's four, with Josh Allen
- 37:06Speaker 1: and Patrick Mahomes in between. I think at this point,
- 37:09Speaker 1: I think I don't disagree with that, although I might
- 37:13Speaker 1: even put Josh Allen as number one. Oh now, yeah
- 37:16Speaker 1: you could do that, But but I could see Rogers
- 37:18Speaker 1: as one in Brady four in that four group, just
- 37:21Speaker 1: because of their age and where they are in their careers. Really, yeah,
- 37:26Speaker 1: I don't know. I still feel like Brady. I just
- 37:28Speaker 1: it's funny you didn't feel like that when he was here. No,
- 37:31Speaker 1: but how could you remember? How could you pick over him? Well?
- 37:34Speaker 1: I think, like, I don't know what the criteria was,
- 37:37Speaker 1: just pure talent or you know, I just feel like
- 37:40Speaker 1: I still if I had to win one game, I
- 37:42Speaker 1: would I would take Tom Brady, you know, I like
- 37:45Speaker 1: all two respect Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes and everybody else.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I mean, and I have a unfortunately I have tons
- 37:52Speaker 1: of respect for Let's put it in another way, and
- 37:55Speaker 1: obviously Brady's age hurts him. But of those four you
- 37:58Speaker 1: had to pick one for your quarterback on your team,
- 38:01Speaker 1: which of those forty you pick just because of the age?
- 38:06Speaker 1: You know? Yeah? Well, yeah, I wouldn't pick Rogers or
- 38:10Speaker 1: Brady over Mahomes or Allen because of age, right, strictly
- 38:13Speaker 1: because of age. But I'm talking about for this season. Yeah, like,
- 38:17Speaker 1: what would you take for this season? That's what that
- 38:19Speaker 1: list is. I'd take Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, I wouldn't. I
- 38:25Speaker 1: just haven't seen any drop off, Like I don't. I mean,
- 38:28Speaker 1: in theory, it sounds yeah, he's whatever, he is, sixty
- 38:30Speaker 1: two years old now or whatever, but he still seems
- 38:34Speaker 1: as completely dangerous in every single game that he plays in.
- 38:37Speaker 1: And unless and until you put that final nail in
- 38:39Speaker 1: the coffin, he's gonna keep coming, you know. Yep. But
- 38:43Speaker 1: I'm with you on probably Josh Allen though if it
- 38:46Speaker 1: was long term thing, I'd probably pick him. Yea, all right,
- 38:50Speaker 1: thanks for shot what. I just had one more thing
- 38:54Speaker 1: just about the Patriots, the skill the skill possessions. Um,
- 38:59Speaker 1: who would you guys think about number one wide receiver
- 39:02Speaker 1: DeVante Parker, So yeah, I would. I would make an
- 39:09Speaker 1: argument for Kendrick Bourne, would too. I think I hope
- 39:13Speaker 1: it's gonna be DeVante Parker. All right, answer, yeah, okay,
- 39:20Speaker 1: thanks for Sean. I mean, I think I think Parker's
- 39:23Speaker 1: gonna have a very specific set of skills, and I
- 39:26Speaker 1: think similar with like Jacoby Myers, a very specific set
- 39:29Speaker 1: of skills. He's gonna find you and kill you. But
- 39:34Speaker 1: I think Born he's got to build on what he
- 39:37Speaker 1: did last year and be that all around guy, that
- 39:39Speaker 1: energy guy. I mean, you know, I think he's got
- 39:41Speaker 1: a lot of you know, presence about him, and we
- 39:44Speaker 1: know about the smile and just he's always up and
- 39:47Speaker 1: that's awesome, and I just think he needs to develop
- 39:49Speaker 1: and all around might end up with more catches. Who's
- 39:52Speaker 1: the receiver there may the answer, maybe none of them,
- 39:56Speaker 1: but who's the receiver most likely that other teams have
- 39:59Speaker 1: to worry about? Well, I mean I would say worry
- 40:03Speaker 1: in a sense of how do we match up? Because
- 40:06Speaker 1: I think Parker pulls your coverage. Park Parker will pull
- 40:08Speaker 1: an outside corner and and a little bit of safety
- 40:11Speaker 1: help perhaps of you know something to think about. I
- 40:13Speaker 1: don't see it something to think about along the sidelines.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I mean, that's what he does, right. I don't think
- 40:18Speaker 1: he'll get double covered. Now. No, I'm not saying I'll
- 40:20Speaker 1: get double covered. You'll have the safety. But I think
- 40:22Speaker 1: they'll just line someone up on the outside and that'll
- 40:24Speaker 1: be his guy. Okay, great, I just think that's what
- 40:28Speaker 1: he's been throughout his career. Right, But I'm saying that's
- 40:30Speaker 1: a specifically you'd rather have him or Aglore Oh on
- 40:34Speaker 1: the outside. I'd want to see something different, so Parker, Okay, yeah,
- 40:38Speaker 1: godless the guy's been on the outside. I think, yeah,
- 40:41Speaker 1: no one is gonna get doesn't mean you're commanding a
- 40:43Speaker 1: double team. That's not what's on the point I was
- 40:45Speaker 1: trying to make, though I'm not trying to say it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I'm saying that he gives them an out safety's I
- 40:49Speaker 1: didn't say he's gonna pull a safey. I said he's
- 40:51Speaker 1: gonna have a corner with him, and he's gonna they're
- 40:52Speaker 1: gonna have something to think about with him on the outside.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Can you play it you're also gonna have it. Wasn't
- 40:57Speaker 1: the point I was trying to make every time pante
- 40:59Speaker 1: Parker is gonna go out and feeling to draw double covers.
- 41:01Speaker 1: It's not the point I'm trying to make at all.
- 41:03Speaker 1: The point I'm trying to make is that he's an
- 41:04Speaker 1: outside presence. It's that they have to consider. And when
- 41:07Speaker 1: you get down into it, you could also have Agalore
- 41:09Speaker 1: out there. Right, So if you've got Aglare on one
- 41:10Speaker 1: side and you got Parker on the other, are the
- 41:12Speaker 1: safety is just going, we don't have to worry about that.
- 41:13Speaker 1: We're gonna go play in the box. Like I think
- 41:15Speaker 1: you'd have to consider it. I think you'd over the top,
- 41:17Speaker 1: you know, see over the top. I would say you'd
- 41:20Speaker 1: have to consider Aglore much more than Parker. He's much faster. Great,
- 41:23Speaker 1: so fine, that's the point. But outside guys, that's where
- 41:26Speaker 1: Born comes. But I don't getting like, why is an
- 41:28Speaker 1: outside guy commanding more attention than an inside guy. It's
- 41:31Speaker 1: not about more attention, it's just some attention where it
- 41:34Speaker 1: allows you. Now, with Born, we can move him around.
- 41:36Speaker 1: So who's the guy on the Patriots offense that is
- 41:40Speaker 1: getting the number one corner? I think that's your point, right, yeah? Who?
- 41:44Speaker 1: And I don't think they care. I think that They're
- 41:47Speaker 1: going to play their guys wherever they are, and if
- 41:49Speaker 1: you line up over here on me, he will cover you.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I agree. I don't think the teams would. I don't
- 41:53Speaker 1: think born Agalore Parker. I think they would look at it. Obviously,
- 41:58Speaker 1: Mike's right, they have different skill sets. But I don't
- 42:00Speaker 1: think they're gonna say we need to get our revers
- 42:02Speaker 1: on Parker. Well, we need to get our revers on Born.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Oh sometimes I agree. I agree. I agree with that
- 42:08Speaker 1: point you're making, Paul, Like, I don't think that they're like,
- 42:10Speaker 1: we gotta match up a guy. But but the way
- 42:12Speaker 1: I think about it is is how do we stretch
- 42:14Speaker 1: the defense vertically and horizontally and how do we open
- 42:17Speaker 1: things up for Kendrick Bourne. You know, I don't think
- 42:19Speaker 1: that they're gonna anytimes to say put them put you know,
- 42:22Speaker 1: we gotta put our best corner on Kendrick Bourne. But
- 42:24Speaker 1: I think that the way that they can use what
- 42:26Speaker 1: they have, which I think are a number of really
- 42:28Speaker 1: good maybe two or three options, would spread them out
- 42:31Speaker 1: and get them. I think they got options. I think
- 42:36Speaker 1: they've got options on offense, and I think that's gonna
- 42:39Speaker 1: help open up the field. I just hope it comes
- 42:41Speaker 1: together in a way, must be like Stanley and his prime,
- 42:47Speaker 1: Like the only guy that was that's not wasn't here
- 42:50Speaker 1: last year. I can't wait until November. We're Paul's like,
- 42:52Speaker 1: I was wrong. I'll say it, and you know why.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I know you will. You know I will, and you're
- 42:56Speaker 1: gonna have to you know what it is. And I
- 42:58Speaker 1: don't want to pass. I don't want to pick on Paul.
- 43:01Speaker 1: I just was frustrating, frustrating a big bus. Frustrating overall, though,
- 43:05Speaker 1: is that it's never ever good enough for a lot
- 43:07Speaker 1: of these people. You get Devant. I'm not saying DeVante
- 43:09Speaker 1: Parker's the number one, it's that. Nope, you draft Taekwon,
- 43:13Speaker 1: Thornton is fast? Do you every one? Nope? You know,
- 43:15Speaker 1: like you just you never win, You never win. Do
- 43:18Speaker 1: you think that those were the best options for those
- 43:20Speaker 1: those two specific things necessarily, But I'm not dismissing them
- 43:23Speaker 1: out right. Of Parker's not going to do anything. Nobody
- 43:25Speaker 1: really cares about him. He'll be over there and maybe
- 43:27Speaker 1: he'll make some context, will play much this year? Probably not?
- 43:31Speaker 1: But I think, so what are we all excited about then? Like,
- 43:33Speaker 1: why should you be excited because why should reason why
- 43:37Speaker 1: he's not going to play a lot is because we've
- 43:38Speaker 1: got two other options. But maybe, okay, maybe if you
- 43:41Speaker 1: injected Jalen Waddle into the equation, would they've had all
- 43:44Speaker 1: these options? He would play a lot. Of course, so
- 43:47Speaker 1: if you drafted a guy that had the skill set
- 43:49Speaker 1: to immediately get on the field, he would play over
- 43:52Speaker 1: the agalois Myers And you're talking about a top ten pick. No,
- 43:55Speaker 1: I'm not. The guys that were drafted right around will
- 44:00Speaker 1: be on the field for their teams. Our guy probably
- 44:04Speaker 1: won't be. We have more depth. Okay, but you don't.
- 44:07Speaker 1: It's the point. Wow, we'll see, Well we don't know
- 44:09Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, we'll see. And he's going to be fast.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'm very the fastest guy on the offense, the speeding,
- 44:15Speaker 1: the fastest guy in the combine counts for nothing. I
- 44:17Speaker 1: want to change terms. It doesn't, Mike John Ross. It
- 44:23Speaker 1: in general terms, it doesn't. Why do you have to
- 44:26Speaker 1: pick up your ball and go home? Like because he's
- 44:28Speaker 1: not the guy you wanted? Why fast? I'm not saying
- 44:31Speaker 1: he's gonna be amazing. Why we pick up wanted to
- 44:33Speaker 1: get fast? We drafted the fastest receiver in the draft.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Does that count for anything? Of like, Wow, maybe maybe
- 44:38Speaker 1: that's how about a fast receiver who has a better
- 44:40Speaker 1: skill set? Well, what are my ranking skill sets? Like?
- 44:44Speaker 1: All I can tell you was all the guys that
- 44:46Speaker 1: we talked about in that area, and you talked about
- 44:48Speaker 1: a lot of them. That wasn't one of them. So
- 44:50Speaker 1: you didn't like him as much as the other guys
- 44:52Speaker 1: that got taken either. That's true, but I was excited
- 44:54Speaker 1: about Hey, they wedn't got a fast guy because what
- 44:56Speaker 1: they do. You've gotten fretted and you're now convinced yourself
- 45:00Speaker 1: that the Patriots took him so he will work out.
- 45:02Speaker 1: I am not convinced he's gonna work out, but I'm
- 45:04Speaker 1: at least giving him the chance of not being dismissive
- 45:06Speaker 1: of the fact that because I didn't like him or
- 45:08Speaker 1: certain other scouts didn't like him, that hey, maybe he
- 45:10Speaker 1: will play this. Can't there be a difference between being
- 45:12Speaker 1: dismissive and not excited, Like, I'm not dismissing the offense,
- 45:17Speaker 1: I'm not telling you they can't move the ball, but
- 45:20Speaker 1: I'm not overfully excited about the additions that they made
- 45:23Speaker 1: with Parker and Thornton, one of which I don't even
- 45:25Speaker 1: believe will be on the field very much. In Thornton
- 45:28Speaker 1: Parker will play. You know, when the eight games that
- 45:31Speaker 1: he's healthy, I knew that was coming. Thornton, I don't think.
- 45:35Speaker 1: I don't think Thornton plays unless you have a rash
- 45:37Speaker 1: of injuries at that spot. I don't think he will
- 45:40Speaker 1: play hardly at all now. But maybe if you have,
- 45:44Speaker 1: I mean, then your death isn't as good as you thought.
- 45:47Speaker 1: He's actually good, right, maybe he's good. And again Fred
- 45:50Speaker 1: will tell you. Fred is my witness on this. I
- 45:53Speaker 1: will tell you if if I really underestimated that guy,
- 45:56Speaker 1: I was wrong. This guy's stepped in. He has a
- 45:58Speaker 1: skill set and it's it's trance lady. I'll be the
- 46:01Speaker 1: first guy to tell you, well, if I was wrong. No,
- 46:03Speaker 1: And I know you you uh, you're you. You say
- 46:06Speaker 1: that so that you know you're honest with with that.
- 46:08Speaker 1: But I'm honest about it. Yes, when I'm wrong, I'll
- 46:10Speaker 1: tell you. But I also think that Fred and I
- 46:13Speaker 1: look at what they have, the overall running backs and
- 46:17Speaker 1: all the tight ends and the wide receivers, and you
- 46:19Speaker 1: say there might be something there. There might be something there.
- 46:22Speaker 1: You can look at it that way, or you can
- 46:23Speaker 1: look at it they as they added an injury program.
- 46:26Speaker 1: You can't argument it's a lot of good players as
- 46:33Speaker 1: opposed to a couple of really good joys. Which do
- 46:36Speaker 1: you prefer the A and I prefer band? And I'm
- 46:39Speaker 1: making an assumption that Max's gonna be better in his
- 46:42Speaker 1: second year. It's gonna come at you know, it's gonna
- 46:46Speaker 1: come a little bit more naturally. Um, And some of
- 46:49Speaker 1: these guys that they got last year will be a
- 46:52Speaker 1: little better just in terms of being able to play
- 46:55Speaker 1: without thinking a little bit more. Um. You know, I
- 46:58Speaker 1: think those guys are all vets and they are with it. Yeah.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I mean, if there's any X factor to me, it's
- 47:04Speaker 1: the coaching. You know, what happens with the play calling
- 47:07Speaker 1: and who's the architect and you know, as opposed to
- 47:10Speaker 1: the coordinator as opposed to the play caller. I think
- 47:13Speaker 1: that's all to be seen. And you know how good
- 47:17Speaker 1: they're gonna do in those roles? I you know, we
- 47:19Speaker 1: don't know, Yeah, we don't know. I just I just
- 47:22Speaker 1: like that I can at least talk myself into it
- 47:25Speaker 1: like I can, like I can look at it on defense.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I can't talk myself into it I don't know. I like,
- 47:28Speaker 1: you know, unless ray Kua McMillan is awesome and Terrence
- 47:30Speaker 1: Mitchell are suddenly players. We have some empirical evidence with
- 47:35Speaker 1: the offense in terms of you know, yeah, we've seen
- 47:39Speaker 1: the guys play. Even if Parker was the we've seen
- 47:41Speaker 1: him play on defense. There's a lot of guys we
- 47:44Speaker 1: just haven't seen, or if we have, it's very little,
- 47:47Speaker 1: you know, And these guys need to be keep players,
- 47:50Speaker 1: you know. I mean, I don't want to put too
- 47:52Speaker 1: much on like Perkins, U J. Jennings, but if like
- 47:54Speaker 1: one of those guys isn't good, like they're they're struggle,
- 47:58Speaker 1: that's differ. Yeah, the linebacker, I see. I think the
- 48:01Speaker 1: secondary and the receivers are very similar. You have a
- 48:03Speaker 1: bunch of NFL players there. I just don't think you
- 48:05Speaker 1: have any really good ones. But the linebackers is different.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Those guys don't have NFL track records. Mike just named
- 48:11Speaker 1: the names, and those guys are all going to be
- 48:13Speaker 1: unproven because they haven't played. Greg's in California. Hey, Greg,
- 48:19Speaker 1: Hey guys. Last week on the show, I don't know
- 48:22Speaker 1: who it was, but someone said Drew Brees was overrated
- 48:25Speaker 1: and I just was hoping I could argue with whoever
- 48:28Speaker 1: that was, that was me. Okay, So where would you
- 48:33Speaker 1: rank him all time? Would you say he's top ten?
- 48:37Speaker 1: I don't have a list in front of me, but
- 48:38Speaker 1: probably not, okay, because I've always looked at him like
- 48:43Speaker 1: an unlucky version of Brady. Obviously not you know, Brady's level,
- 48:48Speaker 1: but around there, because when you look at obviously the stats,
- 48:52Speaker 1: I've heard you say they're inflated from playing in a dome.
- 48:55Speaker 1: But Manning played in a dome too. A lot of
- 48:58Speaker 1: guys play in a dome, some pretty good stats. How
- 49:01Speaker 1: do you do outside pretty good? I mean I don't know.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I haven't looked at his outside numbers. He won a
- 49:07Speaker 1: Super Bowl with Denver and he got to another one
- 49:09Speaker 1: with Denver, so it's a pretty good track. I think
- 49:13Speaker 1: it's hard to overrate Drew Brees because of his size,
- 49:17Speaker 1: Like he had to compensate for that size with amazing
- 49:21Speaker 1: timing inaccuracy. So I think the guy deserves all the
- 49:24Speaker 1: credit he gets. I'm not talking about credit like I'm
- 49:26Speaker 1: talking about who you think is better. Do you think
- 49:28Speaker 1: Rogers is better? Yes, Brady, I don't. I don't think
- 49:32Speaker 1: would be in my top ten. But he's still a
- 49:34Speaker 1: great quarter But you agree with me. Yeah, but that
- 49:36Speaker 1: doesn't mean I think he's overrated. So if he's one
- 49:39Speaker 1: of like, let's just say, for arguments, take I'll just
- 49:41Speaker 1: pick a random number. If he's one of the twenty
- 49:42Speaker 1: five best quarterbacks who's ever played, that's amazing. That make
- 49:45Speaker 1: him great, yes, of course, yes, But people think he's
- 49:48Speaker 1: one of the five best who ever played. I think
- 49:50Speaker 1: that makes him overrated. That wow, It doesn't mean I
- 49:53Speaker 1: don't think he's great. Those people are overrated. But I
- 49:55Speaker 1: don't know if anyone that thinks he's a top five
- 49:57Speaker 1: or even top ten, I don't even I don't even
- 49:59Speaker 1: think a lot people think you stopped ten. Yeah. I
- 50:01Speaker 1: feel like he's just like kind of an afterthought and
- 50:03Speaker 1: you're like, wow, he sucks that Drew Brees played at
- 50:06Speaker 1: the same time at all those amazing guys, because he
- 50:09Speaker 1: probably would have. You could argue that he came into
- 50:16Speaker 1: the league at one and one of the worst teams
- 50:18Speaker 1: in football and turned them into a juggernaut for like
- 50:22Speaker 1: twenty years, and then you know he had a bunch
- 50:25Speaker 1: of seven and nine. Was that probably he came into
- 50:30Speaker 1: the league with the charge. I know, but I think
- 50:31Speaker 1: he's talking about the same you know what I mean.
- 50:34Speaker 1: But there's a big difference there. He was established as
- 50:36Speaker 1: an NFL player when you went to the Saints. Yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 1: it wasn't like what Brady did. Yeah, but he took
- 50:43Speaker 1: a more fun team and made them good. Yeah. Yeah, like,
- 50:47Speaker 1: but Brady and Manning did like him. I think I
- 50:50Speaker 1: had that in my story. Did you through that? Maybe
- 50:53Speaker 1: that's where I got it. Yeah, all right, guys, all right,
- 50:58Speaker 1: I thought Greg. I think he's Greg. I think he's great.
- 51:00Speaker 1: I don't think he's as great as some people think
- 51:03Speaker 1: he is, so I think we're probably more in agreement.
- 51:05Speaker 1: I think, like, I'm not telling you he can't play.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I think Drew Brees is a great quarter Yeah. I
- 51:09Speaker 1: think he's twenty five and top twenty five in the
- 51:12Speaker 1: history of the NFL. Is great, And you could probably
- 51:15Speaker 1: get a you know, make a good argument for the
- 51:17Speaker 1: second half of the time. Who was underrated? It's John Elway.
- 51:20Speaker 1: He never gets mentioned in these is always at the
- 51:22Speaker 1: top of my list. You know, Am I crazy? Like
- 51:25Speaker 1: I don't see Drew Brees in this in that level, like, like, well,
- 51:28Speaker 1: there's the production he is, well, I mean, he was
- 51:31Speaker 1: the all times, right, you know, and if you look
- 51:35Speaker 1: at his playoff losses, there's like countless ones that just
- 51:39Speaker 1: something that would never happen to a guy like Brady.
- 51:42Speaker 1: You know. It's like, see, Greg makes a really good point.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Some guys just born. And I think Manning had the
- 51:47Speaker 1: same kind of buzzer's luck that Brees did. But some
- 51:49Speaker 1: of it is I'm sorry it happens too many times.
- 51:51Speaker 1: It's not just like I used to say it about
- 51:53Speaker 1: Brady at the beginning, like, my god, the guy is
- 51:55Speaker 1: so lucky, but what happens for twenty five years, it's
- 51:57Speaker 1: not luck anymore, right, Yeah, you know, I mean, like,
- 52:00Speaker 1: like again another example when when empirical evidence presents itself,
- 52:04Speaker 1: you have to stop saying that you're right and everybody
- 52:07Speaker 1: else is wrong. Yeah, you know, like Brady was more
- 52:10Speaker 1: than just a product of luck. Yeah, And Breeze lost
- 52:14Speaker 1: a lot of home playoff games just like Manning did. Like,
- 52:17Speaker 1: and some of the ones that Breeze lost, like they
- 52:20Speaker 1: just couldn't score, Like Manning has like these four hundred
- 52:23Speaker 1: yard throwing performances when his drunk kick or missus field
- 52:26Speaker 1: goals at the end and they lose, right, you know,
- 52:28Speaker 1: that's just Buzzard's luck. And I think both of them
- 52:30Speaker 1: had a little of that. Manning showed me a lot
- 52:32Speaker 1: when he went to Denver late in his career without
- 52:35Speaker 1: his fastball. I don't I'm not talking about the Super
- 52:37Speaker 1: Bowl win right when he was done. Now, before that,
- 52:39Speaker 1: he had what fifty two thirteen fourteen, you know, like
- 52:43Speaker 1: he was really really good twelve thirteen fourteen, and that
- 52:46Speaker 1: was after the injury, right, it was pretty and then
- 52:49Speaker 1: he lost, you know, and then in fifteen, you know,
- 52:51Speaker 1: it was gone, you know, And and and I know
- 52:54Speaker 1: I would always take Tom ahead of Peyton Manning, no question,
- 52:57Speaker 1: But we always talk about Tom knowing all the answers.
- 53:00Speaker 1: So did Peyton Manning. I mean, his football IQ was
- 53:03Speaker 1: through the roof, you know, because he did he couldn't run,
- 53:07Speaker 1: you know, at all, Like he was the worst runner
- 53:10Speaker 1: than Brady in terms of mobility, but like knowing where
- 53:14Speaker 1: guys are and what you are saying, Oh, Marvin Harrison
- 53:16Speaker 1: was always wide open. He was wide open because Peyton
- 53:19Speaker 1: Manning knew where where to put him. Yeah, I think
- 53:21Speaker 1: I learned some of them on myself here. I don't.
- 53:23Speaker 1: I don't think I'm a big Drew Breese, guy like,
- 53:25Speaker 1: and I also give Sean I think you're wrong. Peyton
- 53:28Speaker 1: some cit how finally tuned that offense was I mean,
- 53:33Speaker 1: guys like what Marcus Colston, you know, came in and
- 53:36Speaker 1: was really good for a little bit. And I mean,
- 53:37Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's not a great quarterback. It just
- 53:40Speaker 1: was a little jarring for me to say somebody being like,
- 53:42Speaker 1: is he a top ten all time quarterback? I don't.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I just don't see him. Well, I just I look
- 53:47Speaker 1: at the two things I you know, that he had
- 53:50Speaker 1: to be in order to be good was his accuracy
- 53:54Speaker 1: and his timing. It was just amazing. It was just amazing, dude.
- 53:58Speaker 1: But you seem like you'd get annoyed with all the
- 54:00Speaker 1: helmet grabs them. Oh yeah, all the snaps stuck on
- 54:03Speaker 1: the shoulders. But I do that with opponents. I look
- 54:06Speaker 1: for I latch onto something I hate, you know, and
- 54:10Speaker 1: I just oh, yeah, face, it's always doing that, you know.
- 54:16Speaker 1: It's kind of like frenetic. He's got like a little
- 54:18Speaker 1: I pointed it out. Everybody was like, yeah, you're right, Yeah,
- 54:21Speaker 1: never oh yeah, I saw somebody like the red mark
- 54:24Speaker 1: on Manning's forehead or anything. No, no, no, l that's
- 54:27Speaker 1: good too. Somebody on TikTok did like you know they do,
- 54:30Speaker 1: like those different quarterbacks, and guy did great though. We
- 54:32Speaker 1: had like a great Brady like the perfect like you know,
- 54:35Speaker 1: fake call. But then that's he did great. Brief too though,
- 54:37Speaker 1: like pulling the face mask at justin the shoulder pads.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Alexually's been very quiet. She doesn't want to It's been interesting.
- 54:43Speaker 1: It's getting it's gotten heated, it's gotten I'm just like
- 54:46Speaker 1: taking it vacation. This is typical. We dipped into the
- 54:52Speaker 1: fire a little. Who's your favorite quarterback of all time?
- 54:55Speaker 1: And my dog is named Braid? Okay, all right, no
- 54:57Speaker 1: that's fair, Brady Quinn. I'm also trying so I know, yeah,
- 55:02Speaker 1: who else is that grew up here? Yeah? What else?
- 55:06Speaker 1: I still know about Johnny Unitis even though I'm you know,
- 55:09Speaker 1: in Sammy Bob. But let's even leave some of those
- 55:13Speaker 1: guys out, Like I mean, you got like Montana Marino Elway,
- 55:17Speaker 1: like is there really a discussion for any of those
- 55:19Speaker 1: three and Drew Brees No, right, probably not right? You know,
- 55:23Speaker 1: now you go, let's go to like some contemporaries that
- 55:26Speaker 1: are playing right now. Besides the Mannings, I mean the
- 55:30Speaker 1: Brady and Rogers. Like, is Patrick Mahomes better? Yeah, you know,
- 55:34Speaker 1: I think Josh Allen is trending to be better. I mean,
- 55:37Speaker 1: if Mahomes got hurt today, I have to put breeze
- 55:39Speaker 1: over him just because you just well longevity. Yeah, but
- 55:42Speaker 1: I'd say that his upside is assuming Mahomes and Allen
- 55:46Speaker 1: played for fifteen years, I think they'll be better than Brees, right,
- 55:49Speaker 1: And I'm not talking about numbers. I'm just talking about
- 55:51Speaker 1: they'll be better. Plasic guy. And if you look at
- 55:54Speaker 1: you know, his win loss and everything and interceptions to touchdowns, Uh,
- 55:59Speaker 1: it's not as good as some of the greats, but
- 56:01Speaker 1: Joe Namath was doing it before anyone. And Joe Namoth
- 56:05Speaker 1: it's funny like he had that like the the need
- 56:08Speaker 1: that they said was he only had like three or
- 56:10Speaker 1: four years to play, and like if you look at
- 56:12Speaker 1: his career, that's what it was. Yeah, it was. He
- 56:14Speaker 1: was thrown for four thousand yards when no one, no
- 56:17Speaker 1: one was thrown for three right, and he just fell
- 56:21Speaker 1: apart physically. Yeah. You know a lot of people say
- 56:23Speaker 1: that he's like the least deserving Hall of Fame quarterback
- 56:26Speaker 1: because his numbers are not good, right, and they're not
- 56:29Speaker 1: they're not. You can make an argument, but he was
- 56:30Speaker 1: a trend setter. He was doing it before anything. I
- 56:33Speaker 1: love Joe Namath. I was a big Joe. I was
- 56:35Speaker 1: number twelve. Yeah really yeah. Yeah. Another Pittsburgh guy, Joe Montana,
- 56:41Speaker 1: I mean Joe Montana. I think before I was I
- 56:43Speaker 1: was thinking like before bled Cell, because once bled Cell came,
- 56:46Speaker 1: I was in on the Patriots, like probably Montana. That's
- 56:49Speaker 1: I mean, growing up in the eighties and they were
- 56:51Speaker 1: all over the place. And how could you not like
- 56:53Speaker 1: Joe cool. I mean, he had it all. He was
- 56:56Speaker 1: boring to me. I don't know who Montana was, you know,
- 57:02Speaker 1: I guess yeah, listen, you can't argue with that. Oh no, great, Yeah,
- 57:07Speaker 1: But like I'll give you like another great quarterback that
- 57:10Speaker 1: I thought was while we overrated with Steve Young. Yeah,
- 57:13Speaker 1: doesn't mean he wasn't great, you know, like you've had
- 57:17Speaker 1: so many quarters now, I would putting way better than
- 57:19Speaker 1: Drew brees Um. No, I would say no. I would
- 57:24Speaker 1: put Breeze ahead of Kelly and Steve Young. I would
- 57:29Speaker 1: put Breeze ahead of Steve Young, but not Kelly ah
- 57:33Speaker 1: All system. Oh isn't no, okay, no, it's your lefties there. Yeah. Anyway,
- 57:41Speaker 1: good good quarterback talk. Uh. Web radio at Patriots dot
- 57:45Speaker 1: com is the email address. Let's see what people have found.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Alex is twenty seven and has a dog named Brady.
- 57:53Speaker 1: I think you told me that before. I think I
- 57:55Speaker 1: shout out she got hired. Yeah, I tried to keep
- 57:58Speaker 1: that under wraps. I didn't want to to embarrassing. How
- 58:00Speaker 1: many dogs are named Brady in the greater New England. Brady,
- 58:06Speaker 1: My dog was named Brady, and Brady was just a
- 58:08Speaker 1: three times Super Bowl. Oh wow, you got in the
- 58:11Speaker 1: bottom floor. Yeah, mid floor. Sean of Vancouver says, hey, Mike,
- 58:16Speaker 1: I liked your article about the versatile secondary on the site.
- 58:20Speaker 1: If the secondary, we'll have success in twenty twenty two.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Who do you see starting an outside corner? Well we
- 58:25Speaker 1: just talked about that, didn't we there I did. I
- 58:28Speaker 1: mean I got my arm Mitchell. Sorry, sorry at the
- 58:30Speaker 1: press s Mitchell, But I mean he just he reminds
- 58:34Speaker 1: me of what was Lee Bottom, you know, like that
- 58:36Speaker 1: kind of guy, been around a little bit, make some plays. Yeah,
- 58:41Speaker 1: you know, I think the ball, the hands on the
- 58:44Speaker 1: balls are is what is the treaty. Sorry, July Brendan
- 58:52Speaker 1: and Port McQuary. I believe that's in Australia, Say right, McQuary.
- 58:58Speaker 1: I thought i'd write in with a shoe game about
- 59:01Speaker 1: all time NFL records you don't want to own. Answers
- 59:05Speaker 1: are from all over the league, not just the Patriots.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Who is the starting quarterback with the lowest winning percentage
- 59:13Speaker 1: after at least one hundred games? Who was the starting
- 59:18Speaker 1: quarterback with the lowest winning percentage after at least one
- 59:22Speaker 1: hundred games? So, in other words, one hundred starts played
- 59:26Speaker 1: a lot. Yeah, he was. He was a starting quarterback
- 59:28Speaker 1: for a while, so he had to be pretty good.
- 59:32Speaker 1: I mean, I know it's not Matthew Stafford, but he
- 59:35Speaker 1: lost a lot of games before. No idea. I don't
- 59:38Speaker 1: know the answers Archie Manning two sixty three. We're talking
- 59:41Speaker 1: about the Saints, you know that's yeah, he was a
- 59:46Speaker 1: good quarterback on a really bad team, and maybe not
- 59:49Speaker 1: that good a quarterback. I don't know now. I think
- 59:52Speaker 1: he was wildly overrated too. Yes, fewest team rushing yards
- 59:57Speaker 1: in a game since nineteen sixty I mean Patriots had
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: negative one, didn't they against the Bucks last year? It's
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: got to be a negative number, right. Huh, well, it
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: would have negative one would not be the winner. What
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: is this question? If you paid attention? I'm sorry. I
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: was on Twitter. Fewest team rushing yards in a game
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: since nineteen sixty. If I give you the Tennessee Tennessee
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: in the ye O nine game. No, if I give
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you the season, will that help? Maybe? Oh seven? So Lions?
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Maybe Lions is correct minus eighteen. How'd you know that's
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: not the year they were terrible on the next year
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: they went out, they got that year? They would yea
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Most News Friends NFL Network show on a Patriots Bills game. Oh,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: don't expect to see any Bills punts? Oh god, here
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: we go? Oh man? Uh? What's because Kyle Brent is
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: a big uh? Got I have to text him about this.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: It's getting excessive. Yeah. Most Super Bowl losses by a
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Teamamian Harris's choice. Most Super Bowl losses by eight team? Uh, Minnesota, No,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: they only have four? Right? Who has five? There's two
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: teams that have lost five Super Bowls? Yeah? Okay, yeah, yep, yep, yep.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: The Broncos and Patriots tied with five. Oh pts eighty
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: five ninety six. Yeah, I wasn't accounting too. Sorry, I
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: was my fault. I just said it was I fell
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: right into the trap. I was trying to figure out
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: why Damian Harris would pick this game. Yeah. My guesses
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: they were supposed to pick the one and that he
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: ran sixty something touchdown. They had the wrong one. I
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: don't really need to watch this right now. Um, most
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: playoff losses by a team, I mean it could be
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: the Patriots. Couldn't know the most playoff losses was Minnesota.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I think I get Someone asked the question last week
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: and I got it right. Vikings thirty thirty losses. Highest
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: total career interceptions thrown by a quarterback Benney Tester Birdy. No,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: here's a guy. Guy's name we haven't mentioned when we
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: were talking about great quarterbacks, but absolutely should be mentioned.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: Brett Farve three thirty six. He's another one better than right,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: but he was great. I mean, somebody said before Mahomes
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: that was far and you watch what he did. It
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: was like it was true. He was throwing all which way.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: You know, back then, there's just always something likable about
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: Brett Farve and his approach of just like I don't
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: know I'm just gonna go out there and do it
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: like aspect. Like you know, I meant love guys like
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Brady who are focused. But he just played provided that
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: you can pick your spots. Interceptions never bugged me. Now,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: there were guys that throw him at the worst possible
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: times when the only thing that can cost you a
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: game is an interception here, and there's guys that that
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: that play like that sometimes. But the whole well, he
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: throws too many interceptions thing, Yeah, well, how many plays
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: does he make that overcome that like that one interception.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: It's that lack of fear that make him makes him great. Right,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: There's a lot of guys that don't throw any picks
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: and don't make any plays. Yeah. One more, most playoff
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: losses by a player, shit, I mean, Brady Brady is
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: number two on that one. That word that you just said,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you can't Brady's number two on that number one is
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Peyton Manning with thirteen. He had ten with the Colts,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: three with Denver. Brady has twelve of playoff losses. So
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I heard an interesting stack. Better to have been in
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: the playoffs and loss than ever to have been in place.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I mean in Brady's postseason record is far superior to Mannings. Right, Yes,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: that's a product of both of them being great and
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: in the playoffs every year. You can't win it every year, right,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: You're gonna have one guaranteed playoff loss every year. It
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: sounds like that's a small number though, still twelve. He's
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: only lost twelve playoff games. Crazy, but the some quarterbacks
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: have never been in So the stat that I heard,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: which is really kind of freaky, is Tom Brady has
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: a chance to set the record for most playoff wins
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: against NFC teams this year, right division for two years.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I think if he wins three playoff games this year,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: he would surpass five. I think five has the most wins.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: But I heard it on like one of those national
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: radio shows over the weekend, and that was only half
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: paying attention, and then they started going over it, and
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: you know, it's still the most frsting. It's the most
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: frustrating because six wins again this little period of time
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: that's so frustrating. All of a sudden, the NFC stinks
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: and AFC is just stacked, you know, Brady leaves and
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: now it's like, well that's part of who's the caller
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: about the Drew Brees caller. Right, It's unquestionable that Brady
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: has had ridiculous fortune along the way, and that's part
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: of it. Like when he started, the AFC was really
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: tough and then it just like the division completely collapsed
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: by the team for ten years and there was no
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: I mean, think about the second part, the second part
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: of the dynasty, right, and think about some of the
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: division games against Bossweiler, Tim Tebow, like that was the
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: advent of the double by. Yeah, there were teams that
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: they played in Division around games that had absolutely no
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: chance to beat them. I know we kind of mentioned
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I got to bring this up and just you just
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: watching the Kyle Dugger. You know, NFL Network has these
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: player choice games, and this one that we're watching is
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Damian Harris's choice, and he chose last year's Week sixteen game,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the loss to Buffalo. Why would he choose watch Dugger
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: here and now watch watch High Tower get knocked over?
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: Why would he choose this? Like this had to be
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: a mistake, right. I can only think that he wanted
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: the other game. He wanted to win game Monday night game. Yeah, game.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: He wanted to win game where he had the big
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: breakaway yeah, yeah, why did this doesn't make any sense.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to durn the break. I'm gonna look
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: up his stats just to see if maybe he had well,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: we're gonna have to We're gonna have to maybe ask
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: him what he was thinking. I think he did. Yeah,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I think he had like three touchdowns in this game.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: That's but even that, that's poor to me. You pick
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: a loss just because you had good stats. I agree. Yeah,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I'm going with the original theory of thede a mistake.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: That's poor to me. All Right, We're gonna take a break,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: come back. Want to get into the game, get coached up.

- 1:16:35Speaker 1: and I know you might you might have a lot

- 1:16:43Speaker 1: also have humbersome projects like me, it's like two inches.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: But you know I don't have sandwich. The sandwich you
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: get deliveries. Yes, okay, right, so when you get you
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: to the do you immediately break down the box? Yes?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: When you get it, yes, yeah, of course I wait,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I wait until for what? I wait until trash night,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: and then I break down the box. Also, it depends
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: like I'll take I'll take the biggest positions. No, it's not.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: That's very efficient. Take the big off I get it.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Throw a lot of stuff in that that bigger box
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: A long as it taking a phrase on the box.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: It depends on how many deliveries I got. No, but
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: I mean like your average box you take, you get
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: like a knife or a blade or something to take
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: a couple of minutes, A couple of minutes. Yeah, it
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: takes five seconds, five seconds? What do you beany what
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: do you five seconds? You cut the you you cut
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: the break it that you gotta fold it up. That
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: doesn't take ten minutes from I didn't say ten minutes
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: and I say ten minutes. That's another great moment from
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: all right, that was a great moment. I like how
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: everybody changes the time frames, like Eric stots off, was like,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: you know, ten seconds. Fred didn't say ten minutes. It
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: was like ten minutes. It like changed at all. Get
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: the knife. I got a pilot Amazon boxes that need
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: to be broken down, but they're just sitting there. Like Eric,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: you're not allowed to put him in your recie going,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: yeah you can. I think you can break them Dow
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: He's supposed to break them down though, Yeah, I believe
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: it's supposed to break them down. Trash pick up then
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: because you throw they just hate. Maximize your space, Maximize
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: the space in the recycling bin, you know, or you
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: could just use the box as recycling bin itself. We
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: haven't thank you requirements exactly what I do. When you
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: take the biggest box to put everything in that, yeah,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: and then they throw it in and get this, it
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: gets it gets compacted. Therefore, you don't have to waste
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: your time breaking down all the boxes. I mean it's
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: ten minutes to pop on those boxes too. I don't

- 1:19:04Speaker 1: What kind of draft pick compensation would you consider a

- 1:19:12Speaker 1: would I think was fair? Like fourth, fifth, somewhere in there. Third.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: I think I think it's a Day three uh. Damien Harris,

- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Nelson agore, Well with that, with that salary, you mean
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: you're not gonna get I mean fifth or six? Yeah?
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Like Day three picks? How about John O. Smith Day
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: three pick? I think all those guys are Day three picks,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: anybody those last two because of the contracts, like Mike's
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: late Day three picks, Christian Bamble first first round pick,
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: Mac Jones first round pick. For sure, No, I wouldn't.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: I would. I would expect it if you're a team
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: that needed a quarterback. Yeah, just draft one in the
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: first round. Then what if it's a bad quarterback. Yeah,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: but if it's you know, what if you have a

- 1:20:18Speaker 1: the soon to be the best quarterback in the league
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: and finally finally throws throws this in here Bill Murray,
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: the the actor of the player, the practice quarter Yeah. Nothing, Um,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: all right, so that's uh someone chiming in from South Korea.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: That's great. Um My Matt is calling in writing in

- 1:21:04Speaker 1: sure if you guys have heard about the Leaning Tower
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: of Pizza in Massachusetts. My great grandpa Louis owned that
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: place for years. He unfortunately had a major gambling problem
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: and one night decided to put the restaurant on the table.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: Long story short, I don't get free pizza anymore. That's
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: right on Route one. Yes, yeah, it's Prince Pizza and sagas. Yeah,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: it's like the Millennium Falcon. He lost it in a

- 1:21:31Speaker 1: in a poker? Here? What do the Sharps? Backing away
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: from that now? Juan and Stratford writes, And since we're
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: rolling today with TMZ Gossip Hot Take, I noticed Damien
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Harris doesn't have any picks with his former girlfriend on
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Instagram anymore, which makes me wonder if they broke up
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: to Alex Hot Boys, Ammar, I mean, I'm still I'm
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: still shook by him choosing the game, although he just
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: had a run where he got but obviously he picked
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: it because he had three touchdowns, but he didn't pick
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: it for the third. That's poor to me. You don't
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: pick a game your team loss, right, pick pick pick
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: a game your team one. I mean, wasn't gonna pick
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: the uh what which one did he fumble the Jets
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: going in the end zone? That one, like, if you're
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: one of his that was a great touchdown run he
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: had Houston, I believe is a fumble that he had
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: going into the end zone. I think your boy forced it,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Terrence Mitchell, So you're one of Damien Harrison's defensive teammates,
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: aren't you given him the side eye next time you
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: see him? Right? Right? You know what I would say
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: if I was Damian Harris. But like so, you have
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: great games every game. You know. Maybe maybe I'm a
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: good kidding I know, no, right, but I just this
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: is poor to me. Um Dan writes in in Virginia.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: In Michigan, what did people expect from Zach Wilson? His
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: colle mascot was the cougar. On the positive side, for
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: the Patriots, it's great to see that even though the
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: Jets had a great draft, they finally reverted to being
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: the same old Jets, the biggest circus in New Jersey.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: There are reports, including from Sports Illustrated, that the Patriots
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: planned to cut Nakil Harry during camp. Is there any
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: substance to this or is it just an educated guess.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I think it's just an educated guess. I mean, well,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: he's gonna go somewhere, and my guesses will be before
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: camp because they don't want him to get hurt in camp, right.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: I just think it's they're gonna probably just release him
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: anyway at the end of camp if he doesn't. So
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: that's probably where teams are saying, like people are like,
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: we keep getting questions about trade. It's like, we're just
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: gonna wait for your kind of player do you trade for?
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Like at this point maybe if it was like the
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: second year, maybe your trade spot. Like you go from
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: you know, two ten to one ninety four and they
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: loved him, you loved them in the draft. You don't
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: feel like the Patriots have been able to use them
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: lower than that seventh round. But I just I think
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: here we are in year four that I think team
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: that had that kind of optimism about him as a
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: player isn't going to give up an asset for it.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: They're just gonna wait to see if he gets released
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: and then sign him that way. Anthony and Seattle wanted
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: to chime in on some great sports nicknames since you
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: guys spoke briefly about it last week. Uh, Damon Snacks
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Harrison Probably my favorite NFL nicknames, The Rainman, Sean Kemp
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: also known as the Rainman because he played in Seattle, Okay,
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: And the last one I love because of the simplicity
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: of the name versus the colossal status of the player.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: But Air as in Michael Air Jordan, it's classic. Do
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: we say Mijo Green too? That's that's kind of like
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: one of the original football nicknames, right, that's such a
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: great nickname. At the college adopted adapted that, like it's Texas.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: It's like the Green Green or something like. I didn't
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: know that. Yeah. And lastly I wanted to correct Deuce.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Tom Brady's nickname is Tom Terrific, not goat. The goat
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: is just what he is. I call him the Pharaoh.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: You see that. I don't think his nickname is Tom Terrific. No,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: but I also agree that goat is just what he is.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: It's not really a nickname. Right. Did Tom have a
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: nickname TB twelve twelve that wasn't really I think that's
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: more of a nickname than Tom Terrific. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: know he tried to you know, trademark Tom Terrific and
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: then the sever fans were really upset with that because
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: that was Tom Siever's nickname, right right, right, But Tom
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: like wasn't he didn't really was. It wasn't really known. No,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: that's a nickname. Guy. There were some nicknames. I think
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: the pharaoh was one like who hold him? I don't know,
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: but it was like on his Wikipedia painting, like who
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: couldn't to kill Harry? Making plays you guys to disparage again?
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: Which one that was the one? You're a wizard, Harry? Yeah? Tom?
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: Tom wasn't like yeah, I don't really like Montana was
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Joe cool? I never heard anybody called Brady the Faraoh?
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: What was no, I mean neither? What was Peyton? And
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Peyton didn't really have one either? Naff naff? What's that?
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Alex was looking you know what naf means? No, you
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: get in my job. It was a nood alarm penis
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: head that was his Uh that was only a friend nickname.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: That was the nickname I gave him. You both responded,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: so I thought it was a real Alex' is like,
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: oh really, I didn't know that. That just me, just
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: me that was afraid him because doesn't he look like
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: he's a penis, especially after the uh you know whatever
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: with the head he took to make his forehead growing
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: right right, and then he had a nood alarm at
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: the end. He's got a new game show coming out,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: you see. Yeah, that executive producer. Yeah, yep, I think
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: he try to stack stuff. Uh Calum in Toronto. I
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: wanted to share something I heard on the Busting with
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the Boys podcast and involves a trade to the Patriots
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: nearly nearly made back in twenty ten. In case you
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: don't know, I like. The podcast is run by two
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: current NFL players, Taylor Lewin, who was a starting tackle
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: for the Titans, and Will Compton, who played with the
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Raiders last year. In this episode, they interviewed Greg Olson,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: former Bears and Panther tight end, who told the story
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: of how he was nearly traded to the Patriots entering
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: the two thou ten draft. Olsen said he was told
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: by the Bears GM that the Patriots wanted to select
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Rob Gronkowski in the second round, but if Gronk was
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: picked in the first round by another team, there was
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: an agreement to send Olson to the Patriots. Of course,
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: Gronk fell to the second round, Patriots selected him in
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: the trade went never went through. Olsen instead was traded
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: to the Panthers and joined Cam Newton in his rookie season.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: We all know the success Gronk had here in Foxboro.
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: Just wanted to throw this out there see if you
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: were aware of this story. I actually was on that one.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: They were not necessarily the specifics. There's a lot more
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: that makes sense, the background of Gronk being part of that.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: But I do remember that offseason there was a lot
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: of Greg Olson to the Patriots talk. That's interesting. There's
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: a lot of movie parts in that draft. Right. Didn't
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: they just move up like one or two spots to
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: even get Wronk in the first place. Yeah, I believe
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: they did move up, moved up in the second round
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: to get him. I think Alex has that. I don't
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: have it in front of me though. Yeah. Um Jack
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: and an Aba says one of the main reasons why
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Justin Herbert is on the best Quarterbacks list is because
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: he plays in Los Angeles. So what does that mean? Well,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I'm the idea that when you're in a big market
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: you get more attention. There's something to that. Okay, So
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: why is like the general manager of some random team
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: interested in the market that he plays in. Oh yeah, well,
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: I mean that's again that's who's making this list. Maybe
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: for all I know, Elliott Wolf was one of the
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: guys that was anonymously contacted to Opine or Matt grow
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: you know whoever, Like, why are they going to say
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: who's in the big markets? Now? You want to tell
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: me that justin Herbert's overrated. I think there's an argument
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: to be made for that. But it's not like Jeremy
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Fowler leaving a guy out or someone saying because he's
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: in Los Angeles, we have to have him in there.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I've just watched him play. I could care less where
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: he plays fun. I think he's got He's got a
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: rare skill set. I mean, how do you not watch
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: him play and think this guy is just got every
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: tool possible. I do think that he's good. I want
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: to see him in the team sort of go Josh
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: Allen mood and something more than just dangerous. You're right,
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: but that whole division is capable of making the playoffs.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Alex from Warren Mass. I'm planning to bring my seven
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: year old daughter to open practices late July, and I
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: have never been. Do you guys have any recommendations or
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: inside or info to help the experience be as fun
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: and smooth as possible for a little one? Also, do
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: you need to purchase tickets ahead of time or just
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: show up? You just show up? Parking's free practices free,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: you know, I would say, you know, some people say
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: we will get there early so you can get the
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: first row in the bleachers, you get more of a
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: chance of getting autographs. But I mean there's so much
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: other things to do, you know. Um, it's also like
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: as hot as the sun on the bleachers, so if
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: you're smart, maybe make your way up to the hill,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: which I know they're doing construction up there, so maybe
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: they got rid of those trees. But that's the secret, sauce.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: Go up on the hill, go under a tree and
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: get some shade if it's really hot. But otherwise it's awesome.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I mean, the kids will love it. I was selling
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: it to somebody at the beach this weekend. We were
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: at the lake and he was like, oh, I was
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: thinking about buying tickets. The preseason was just fine when
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: the Panthers are going to be here. I mean, even
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: if you can't get to a joint practice, just the
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: chance to be close, it's free, you got it. There's
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: not a huge it's great. Yeah, I mean if you
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: have time, can't beat the price. You know. Now, I
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: don't know what time practice is going to be, but
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: if it's like nine in the morning, go to the
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Hall of Fame afterwards, or vice versas, end up doing
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: practice at eleven or something. Come early, go to the
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Hall of Fame first, you know, and then go to practice,
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: get some lunch of Patriot Place, go to skip you know.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: We brought my in laws to Skipjacks. They loved it,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: loved the Skipjacks. Yeah, okay, I can't believe you. I
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: can't believe Mike didn't give the pro tip of bringing
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: a little lawn chair. Yeah. That's that's that's for pro's only.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: That's proprietary information. Sunscreen, Make sure you bring sunscreen and hydrate.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: You got hydrate? Yeah, try to I mean those bleachers. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: because you if your little daughter, I don't know how
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: excited she is going to be to watch practice, you know. Yeah,
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: there's some of it, I scream, and there's food and
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: all kinds of arts and crafts. Make a Patriot's helmet
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: out of paper. And my kids did they having a
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: little obstacle course where you like you run through the
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: cones and but it's all free, it's all free. It's
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: just uh, I mean, you really can't what I would
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: do before you come the night before or even early
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: that morning. Check Patriots dot com. Make sure that there's
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: no change in timing, because you know it's not it's
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: at the whim of the coach. So if he decides
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: on we want to go a little later, yeah, that's
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: when they do it. So Checkpatriots dot com before you
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: head out in your car. But that's why if you're
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: doing the joint practices, though, those seem to be a
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: little bit more all right though that Tuesday Wednesday, I
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: think it is. You know you're getting the joint practices
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: that day. I don't think there'd be too much of
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: a chance that you know they're going to cancel it
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: or right, But bobar the weather too. That's another thing. Right,
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: if there's lightning in the forecast, don't come, yeah, because
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: they'll go inside and no one gets to do that.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: So Tony writes in saw an old clip of Joe
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Namath at Alabama. He was actually a good runner as
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: a quarterback, I mean really good and quick. I think
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: he actually heard his knees in college and by the
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: time he hit the NFL had lost of ability. Given
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: the medical knowledge regarding knee surgery at the time. Ask
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Robert gordon Or about that. Yes, that is very accurate.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: I don't know exactly the timeline of everything, but that's
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Joe Namath's career. He was a great runner and unfortunately
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: wasn't given the same kind of medical treatment that he
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: would get today. Yeah. Yeah, that Bobby or thing gets
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: me would have had a lot, he would add, makes
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: you wonder, like all the knee surgeries he had, what
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: they actually would have done today at the start when
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: the knee injury stuff happened, Like was it just as
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: simple as like they could have professionally scoped it and
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: maybe repaired an MCL or something, and you know all
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: that that's what they used to say about or Yeah,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: I'll ask our resident hockey guy. But outside of New England,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: is Bobby or underrated? Probably a little bit? Probably a
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: little bit because they world you know, you hear Gordy
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: how Bobby Hall, Wayne Gretzky, you know those guys mentioned,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: but Bobby or See I always think of the only
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: one that anybody ever puts ahead of gretz Or is
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Gretzky really? Yeah? Even Lemieux, Oh yeah, like everybody puts
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Gretzky at the top, right, But then it's or I
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: don't know, Gordy Howe was pretty good. Yeah, it was
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: great obviously, right, Yeah, Bret Hall, I tell you I
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: watched that. But that Kale mccarr from the Avali He's awesome.
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: He is just And I've talked to like friends of
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: mine who played hockey and love hockey and they're like,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: I just watch him the whole time, Like it's it's
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: that kind of thing with Bobby or when it looks
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: like everyone else is skating at a different it's just
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: playing the game at a different level. And he is
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: just like lightning. It's fun to watch, fun to watch.
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: It's so cool. Greatest defenseman ever, Bobby Yore. Yeah, I
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: mean I think it's unquestioned. Yeah, yeah, but I don't
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: think outside of New England he gets enough play. Yeah,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't get to usually most people
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: I get in hockey conversations with the worship at the
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: altar of Bobby Yours like I do. So It's it's hard,
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: but it would be interesting, you know, talk to somebody
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: from like Western Canada. Yeah, if you ever have you know,
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: ten minutes go to YouTube and watch Bobby Whore highlight
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: when he goes end to end. I'm sorry, I'm a
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: I'm a horse for Bobby Horn Hobby bore Um. But
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: when he goes end to end, he did it all
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: the time, you know, and just score, you know, or
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: like he just pull up and circle back through the neutrals. Yeah,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: we didn't like what he saw. Like his skating ability
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: was unbelievable. It was. And I got a chance to
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: ref this this girl again this weekend. Who's a U twelve.
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: She's like a little Kilmeut the same thing, the best skater.
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Just she's just going, it's not big, just skating around everybody, everybody,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: and no one can catch her. It's uh, it's just quiet.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: Like That's why I love about reffing. You get to
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: like see these kids that are just so talented, and
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: you know, you talk to the coach and they're like, yeah,
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: she can write or take it wherever she wants. You know.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: It's like twelve year old little girl. It's awesome. Uh.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Dan in Blue Earth, Minnesota, I'm enjoying the offseason shows,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: very entertaining. I've been trying to think of ways to
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: help help Patriots Unfiltered improve in the ratings. In the
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: other we don't need improvement, but anyway, the other days.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: The other day it occurred to me that you need
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: a catchphrase that people will remember. I thought of something
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: along the lines of tgif. Instead of saying that, I've
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: started saying so happy it's Tuesday or shi T you should.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: You should have seen the reaction I got when I
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: greeted people at work with blank you know shi T Today.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: I think this could really be great if we spread
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: the word. Of course, it also works for Thursday, and
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: with a little artistic license, we can even use it
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: when you add the Wednesday shows, because then we'll be
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: so happy it's three days. This is really no dan
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: marketing and pr is not your your Fred calling little
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: disgusted slat. Well it's not shi T now every Thursday
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: see the end of the show. Um, what should our
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: our catch phrase be they didn't pun against the bills twice?
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: He's making fun of you. Let making fun of myself
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: and the Patriots a little bit too. Well, that's a
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: good one. We'll open that up to our callers and writers.
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: What should the catchphrase of Patriots unfilter would be? Paul
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: hates the fans? Oh no, no, don't confuse you with
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: the fans. Friend. Oh wow, that's just shot how McKenzie
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: was his problem. Huh yeah, uh, let's see kennon New Jersey.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: I know Paul doesn't like Hall of Fame discussions, but
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: with Kraft being a semi finalist, I'd like your thought
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: on the chances of some recent Patriots. In addition to
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Thaylon Richard Seymour, I think these six Patriots are also
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: locks to be inducted. Brady Belichick, Kraft at a Terry Gronkowski,
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: and Revers. I don't consider Revers really a Patriots. Yeah,
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I would agree with you. Yeah. Do you think the
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: following have more than a fifty fifty chance to get inducted?
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: Vince Woolfork yet more? Rodney Harrison he should fifty fifty yeah,
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Matthew Slater Yeah no, not if Bill had his way. Uh,
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: Stefan Gilmore not fifty yeah. Do you do the following
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: have a greater than twenty five percent chance? Jonathan Kraft
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: not yet? No? Uh, Devin McCurdy no, Dante high Tower, no,
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: Chandler Jones. He might have a better than twenty five
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: percent for what he did here, No, you know, for
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: what he's done since Yeah. Um, and maybe this one
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: will get Alex involved because she's just watching. She's Kyle McCarry.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: Uh sup, y'all, this is Melvin. Would you trade Brown,
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: Smart and five first round picks for KD? I don't
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: think you'd have to do five first round picks and
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: five first round picks for Kevin Durant. Yeah, what are
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: you gonna do? Jalen Brown, Marcus Smart? You don't need
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: to do all that to get j D. Right, well,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: not five but probably three. That seems like an excessive
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: amount of I would do it as long as players
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: and the whole notion of Jalen Brown sort of wanting
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: to be the man like if if you get that idea,
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: if he's made that clear to you that he's going
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: to be looking, I would do it. Otherwise, I think
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: I would just stick with Brown because obviously the age difference.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: I mean, no question, Katie's a better player. But for
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: how much longer? Nikovich going out on a limb here
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: picking Ramander Stevenson as a running back outside the top ten?
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: Who you know what I didn't see coming? Nick talking
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: about the Patriots, Um, what what'd you take? I would say, no,
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: just too much drama with Kevin Durant in the last
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: few years nothing's panned out. I expected the pit nets
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: panned out, didn't. I think you stick with the young
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: corps you have under contract and at a piece in
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: the off season. What about this new guy saying? How
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: you know the defense was good, but now now they
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: me a gap has just gotten wider because I'm on
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: the team. Now, what do you think of that? I'm
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: a little you didn't hear about that? No, I did.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: I'm a little literary of the Malcolm Brogni experience, and
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: I love the player. I think he's a solid, solid
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: piece to an already really good team, except for evidently
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: he thinks he's the man. So I'm a little concerned, right, yeah, right,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: there's there's already a team full of guys that think
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: they're the man. Yeah, and now he's going to be
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: another one evidently, Yeah, because they have me now right?
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: He said that? I know who talks like that half
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: of the NBA? Yeah, I don't know. Does Tatum say that?
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: Tatum has that moment where he's like, when I get
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: a haircut, I think I'm like top two. So yeah,
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: uh okay. Um. Barton Poland writes in when it comes
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: to sitcoms, are you guys familiar with the show The
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: Honeymooners from the fifties, yes, say, of course I didn't
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: watch it in real time, but because in Poland we
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: had a show called My Adua Lata in the late
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: nineties early two thousands based on that same show, and
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: if you ask Poles, it's probably the best and funniest
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: sitcom in the history of Polish TV. It was love
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: batch then and it's still loved now. If any one
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: of you watched the original it was really was it
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: really that good? Because the Polish version was an absolute
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: hit here. I mean, I think it's one of those
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: like seminal yeah sitcoms of American television history and right
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: to the Moon Alice. I mean, there's so many things,
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: like I know, he talks about hitting his wife in
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: every episode, you know, like I don't think that would
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: find really. But Jackie Gleason was a genius. He was Yeah,
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: Art Carnie two, the two of them were unbelievable. Which
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: is the dynamic you see in you know, so many
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: shows now. It's just such a comedy. You know, Crutch
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: to have the you know, kind of the dumb guy
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: that kind of allowed guy together, right, It's it's comedy gold.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: It was. It was like Fred flint Stone and Barney Rubble,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: you know, right and right in real life that's where
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: it was. Yeah. Yeah, The Flintstones was based on the Honeymooners,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Is that right? Yeah, it's with dinosaurs. Yeah, they have
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: TVs but they don't have but you know, like basically
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: the whole the whole show, like ninety percent of the
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: show was done in this one kitchen of their apartment, right,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: and it was it was amazing, you know, it was
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: pretty good for its time. Yeah, what do you talk
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: like that? I love Lucy the Odd Couple, you know,
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: those those shows that kind of set the course for
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: everything now, which is just all in the family. The family,
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: I mean all of those. It's uh yeah, a lot
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: of good ones, all in the family. They made fun
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: of Polish people a lot. This is the part of
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: the game where Pauls like, see it's all going the
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: Patriots way right now, somebody getting carted off. Well, it
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: was a pretty good game for Buffalo because they only
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: had one guy carted off. Yeah, most Patriots opponents have
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: multiple Roger and Saint Louis offseason game. Um, you can
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: change the outcome of one non Patriots NFL play playoffs
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: a regular season? Which one? And what is the fallout
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: of that one play? All right? Is this like the
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: non two thousand and seven version, So it can't be
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: the Patriots. Oh no, it's a non Patriots NFL play
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: playoffs a regular season. I'm trying to be a Patriots
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: opponents play that they made that you would change. I'm
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: not really sure. Like I'm trying to think of a
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: game like the Patriots. Let's say like lost the suit
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say this one, but say they lost
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: Super Bowl forty two the Giants. Do you wish that
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: somehow the Giants had lost in the conference championship, like
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: had one play gone differently in a previous game, that
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: the Patriots would have faced a more favorable opponent in
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: the game that they eventually lost. One one would be
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: the um Hines Ward catch in the for the touchdown
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl against uh the car Who were
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: they playing that year? Oh? You meant New Holmes that one,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Antonio Holmes. I'm sorry? Yeah, yet, want see to worry?
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: I didn't want them they get another Super Bowl? Right?
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: That's a good one. Yeah, all right, all right? At
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: least tracks I'm struggling to think of, like, oh, I
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: wish we were able to play that team instead, we're
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: trying to say like something that didn't involve the Patriots. Apparently,
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: he says, so you would rather have had Arizona beat Pittsburgh? Yes, okay,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: I think I understand it now. Yeah, I don't know,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: And he says, what would the fallout of that be?
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: Like what would be the butterfly effect of of you
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: know what you wanted happen? You know, I mean, it
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: doesn't really affect the Patriots. I was just wondering if
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: if maybe Burrow completing like that last pass to Jamar
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Chase in the Super Bowl last year, maybe you know
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: that that would have been kind of cool. But I
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: don't know, I can't think of anything offhand that's like
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: directly Patriots related. Yeah, Like, I like, I am not
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: big on I don't want that team to win, because
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: like I either like the team or I don't, you know,
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: like most games when you stop watching, like this one
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: was tough me the Rams and the Bengals because I
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: didn't have anything against Joe Barrow. I kind of wanted
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: to see him win, and I wanted to see Stafford win.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I didn't have any hate. Yeah, I was like rooting
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: for both yeah teams at different points in the game.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: I was too, Yeah, me too. But most of the time,
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: when you stop watching a game, you have a like
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: you figure out who you're rooting for, and you root
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: for that team. And I don't really like, what did
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: you say while we talking about high school sports? At
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: some point you were like, every so I'll see some person,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: And I happened every game I ever covered in high school.
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: I'm I'm talking like random Bellingham versus Case in field
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: hockey nineteen ninety one. Thirty seconds after arriving, I've decided
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: who I'm rooting for, Like something happened some girl mouth
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: off to the ref and I said, oh, I kind
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: of like that, and I started rooting for them parent
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: in the stand, you know. And then you know, like
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: you you'd cover like a volleyball match and like whoever
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: won the first set, automatically you're rooting for them because
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: you just want to get out of it, right, you know,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: stuff like that. But I never covered a game that
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I didn't immediately start rooting for somebody. You can change
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: the outcome of one regular season. One regular season Patriots
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: game winner loss? Which one? And what's the fall fall
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: out of that regular season? Uh? That Miami game, Bradies
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: last time, I was oh yeah, oh yeah, Yeah, that's
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: a good different if that game and I'm probably nothing
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: gonna buy. I think he might have gotten to buy
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: you gotta buy, but he lost to Tennessee anyway, I
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: don't know. Yeah, but that's I mean, that's a good one.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I've had enormous ramifications. They could have said the old
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: Miami in eighteen game, but they won the Super Bowl,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: So what why really matter? You know, regular season game?
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: You know, I'd maybe say the twenty fifteen game in
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: in Denver, because then if they had been able to
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: hang on in that one, we didn't have Harper's muff.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: That's a good one because I think I think that
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: directly led to the three calamities that followed it. Yep,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: just like you know the butterfly effect of if you
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: win that Miami game in the last game of the
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: nineteen season, yeah, maybe you don't crap out in the
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: first game the AFC Championship is here instead of in Denver. Yeah,
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: I'll take that one. And finally, you can change the
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: outcome of one non football player game in sports history?
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Which one non football game? Well, yeah, pick up he
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: Ruins game seven. Yeah, Red Sox in eighty in two thousand,
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: Red Sox in two thousand. Uh, I mean eighty six,
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: the Bill Buckner game. Yeah, one more strike right, Because
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: I was just I was still a kid, Like that's
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: when you really I mean I loved O four and everything,
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: but I mean I was like eighteen years old. We're
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: getting ready to go in Boston. Eighty six. It broke
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: my heart. Celtics twenty Celtics step bothered me a lot
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: more than this one. Seven seven. We had a fourteen
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: point lead in the third quarter. Two, But that one
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: bothered me a lot more than this past one, probably
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: because of age. I mean, it's like another ten years
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: pass and you don't feel the same. This is also
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: a hard team to buy it, I mean anytime, like
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: even whoever you want Alie Frazier one. I wanted Ali
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: to win so badly. Yeah, Like, how did you watch
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: games back then? I didn't. Back then. Back then they
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: would on the radio. They would give you updates after
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: every round. The guy would like, oh, you know, Alie
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: came out, you know with this and that. They give
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: you updates after every round because they couldn't actually you know, announce.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: It's crazy, so little kid by the radio, you know. Yeah,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: those those would be a couple of big ones. I
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: would go back to even some of the Celtics Celtics Lakers,
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: like an eighty five. Well even the one in was
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: an eighty seven when Magic hit the little might have
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: been eighty five. They hit that little cross the lane. Yeah,
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: if he missed that, then that could have changed the
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: whole series. Yeah, I got a lot of those. Sure
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: give me that. Bruins against the Blues a few years ago.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: Seven usually all involved Northeastern Athletics. But what about that
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: um Russia versus US Olympic game where Russia cheated twice
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: at the end. Oh yeah, seventy two basketball? Yeah, you
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: don't remember that one second left Doug Collins got filed
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: made two free throws to put the US up one,
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: so Russia had to inbound from under their own basket
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: with one second. First of all, the guy steps in
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: the court and inbound it. They they that was one.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: They threw it. The you know pass got knocked away.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Time ran out. They said, no, no, no, no, we
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: gotta do it. Again. They did it again, same thing. No, no, no,
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: we gotta do it again. Finally, the third time they
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: completed the past and they scored at the buzzer, and
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: the US was so pissed off they didn't accept their
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: silver medals. Yeah. I don't know exactly why the first
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: two were nullified, but one of them, the guy stepped
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: onto the court before he made the pass from out
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: of bound, so right there, that should have been on it.
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: It's over right, you know, clear video evidence. David writes,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: and I'm curious if there are any storylines you wish
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: you could write or explore further but can't due to
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: being employed by the Patriots. Put another way, what are
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: the hard hitting stories the Herald Globe and others should
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: be writing entering this season. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: I don't think there's anything right now. No, I mean,
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: over the years, I think there were things that were
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: sort of glossed over, but nothing really now. I mean,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: I think the big thing is just the the coaching
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: staff and how responsibilities are divided up. I mean, I
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: think that's the area of not controversy, but that's that's
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: probably where it lives right now. But wait till the
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: season gets going, and then then we'll see. Oh, let's
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: get back to the phones. It just turned around. I
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: see people on the line, Mike's and Cincinnati. What's up, Mike, Hey,
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: how's it going to color? Hey? Thanks for holding on
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: a long time listener, first time caller. I just wanted
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: to take you back on the guy that called in
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: about Drew Brees. I'm kind of with him on that.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: So you think, yep, you think Drew Brees is underrated.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: I think he's underrated. I think if we're gonna call
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Hey Manning this, you know, top five, top seven quarterback,
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: then I mean he beat him head to head. Um,
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: he had a lot more weapons over the years. And
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: if we're gonna give Drew credit for Sean Payton, then
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: we got to kind of take away a little credit
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: from Brady for having you know, your childie wife is
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: and her Bill O'Brien's in your um, you know, Daniel.
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: So I just no, I'm kind of with him on that. Okay,
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: all right, that's all I got. All right, thanks Mike.
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: There's a vote for Drew Brees. So because he beat
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl, does that mean that
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: Manning is better than Brady because he'd bet Brady three
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: out of five playoff games. No, I agree, Pretty's far
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: better than Peyton Manning. In my mind. Todd's in North Carolina.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: Hate Todd. It's a fly in here as a Canadian
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: hockey fan. Yeah, getting back to the whole Bobby or comments.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: Bobby Or I cheered for Boston and much the hate
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: bridge of my family who were Montreal fans and or
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Toronto fans. And yeah, he was the best offensive defenseman.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: I absolutely agree with that, and he is right like
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: we knew about him, even though we have a statue
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: of Gordy Howe in the city I grew up in
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: in Saskatoon, everybody still know Bobby Or. Like Bobby Or
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: is who you talk about when you're talking about somebody
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: who can do the offense. But defensively, it was always
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: Larry Robinson was the best. I've never seen anybody better
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: than him with a polk check, with his stick, his size,
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: his ability to skate board and backwards latterly, he was
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: solid who Harry Robinson played for what forty years or something? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: he's just simply amazing. I don't know if disagrees, but
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: oh yeah, no, and I think that there's certainly it
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: has to be mentioned, like for a traditional real defenseman,
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: I mean, Bobby or was outstanding skater offensive and certainly
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: dominated defensively too. But I think, like you know, Larry Robinson,
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: guys like that, where you know, Chris Chelios, like real
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: tough guys that you know didn't lose battles in their
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: own damn. Maybe he didn't put up the points, but
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: where leaders had a presence. I mean, you know, I'm
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: former defenseman, so I'll always have appreciation for all the
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: different types of him. Well, yeah, defenseman were my go
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: to guys in all of our hockey draft because on
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: the power play that you know, you get your shooting
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: defenseman who would be on at the point, getting the
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: puck every time during the power play and getting your points. Right, Well,
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: not all of us got your points. I didn't do that.
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: You know, we're out there are passing around, maybe the
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: production though maybe laughing a little bit, that's but anyway, Yeah,
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: I'm so excited about this preseason or sorry, the camp.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: I guess we've already pulled past preseason. We're now hidden
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: into training camp. Yeah, I really want to see what
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: this defense can do because I think that they got
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: a lot of tools, but they just have to figure
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: out how they're going to use them and how they're
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: going to deploy them. And I can make enough of
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: a difference. If they can get a good scheme going,
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: I think they can hold their own. I just I've
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: been thinking about it for a while talking to some friends,
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: and it just, you know, I think they've they've got
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: the utility belt, the Batman utility belt. They can maybe
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: get it to work. I don't know, what do you
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: guys thinking, Yeah, I do, I agree. I think I
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: think I think that they've got enough on offense if
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: if they play clean games. Remember last year, all the
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: mistakes at the beginning of the year and they can't
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: overcome that. But if they play fairly clean, I think
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: they can be all right on offense. It's gonna be
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: interesting how it unfolds and what the reaction is like
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: if the offense is just going up and down the field.
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: On the defense, you know, are people excited about the offense?
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: Are they terrified at the defense? At the same time,
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: if the defense can't get off the field, it does
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: affect your offense. It puts pressure on them it's it's
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: not a good thing. I mean, what do you guys
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: remember about when Brady and Moss and Welker, you know,
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: in their prime in practice, but they had some good
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: defense and players too. Of course, what were those like.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's just hard to read too much
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: into practice. And oh they had a good day on offense,
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: you know, I just I think, you know, it's funny,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: but iron sharpens iron, and I think that in those practices,
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: the Brady offense made the defense better. The practices were
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: so competitive, you know, um to the point where you
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: know they would argue and trash talk and um. But yeah,
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: the Brady offense made that defense, you know, tougher and
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: you know, and I think when it came down a
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: crunch time, that's why they were able to make plays. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: we'll see how Paul doesn't agree. Gordy, No, beaut we're
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: going back. You can't disagree with Iron. You can't disagree
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: with the Patriots were great when the winning six titles either. Yeah,
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: but it wasn't all just bread and bread. The defense
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: contributed mostly just three h four. Well, they had great
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: You'd get a ten point lead or just and that
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: was it. It was over because the defense was so good. Absolutely,
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: they were great. Then it's funny you think about it
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: like that way early on, but like late, it just
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: felt and it still feels like you have to make
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: sure he's dead. It's Jason Vorhees, you know, like you
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: like you to turn your back. No, they are never done.
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: Um Chris with the T I A N says the
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: PU catchphrase should be well thanks for Nutton said in
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: the thick Irish accent of Maggie from Caddyshack. Of course,
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: all right, King Kant, Why was she? Why was she Irish?
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: Why did they make her irish? And I'm still unclear,
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: still unclear at this time. Yeah, because she wasn't Irish.
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: That was like the worst part of that movie, that
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: whole storyline for not being pregnant. Yeah, I Alice, did
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: you ever see Caddish yet? So long? Way too young
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: to brush up. You should probably watch that. One more
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: email before we wrap it up. This is from friend
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: in Hollywood, California. Is Bill O'Brien the next offensive coordinator
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: and the future head coach um once Bill Belichick retires
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: and your thoughts on Direct TV no longer carrying the
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Sunday ticket after this season. Well that's not a done deal.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: Apple now has the rights to Sunday Ticket, but from
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: what I hear, they also have the right to license
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: it back to Direct TV for satellite. So I wouldn't
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: you know, rule that out yet? Don't take yourself. Yeah,
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: so I wanted to ask about that. Uh, and Fred,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: you're you're all all knowing on these things. Well, so
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: if Apple has it, will it just be streamed by
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: that particular service? Yeah? So like you know, even if
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: they like lease it out it's a Direct TV, Like,
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: will that be on a streaming service? Yeah? Direct TV
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: won't be able to have it on streaming. They'll just
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: have it on satellite. Apple will. And if you have Apple,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: you'd be able to pay like four hundred bucks a year.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: You have to pay additional Oh yeah, you don't just
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: pay for the streaming. Oh no, no, no no, So
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: it doesn't affect Yeah, it's like it's gonna be like
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: four hundred bucks a year, but you're gonna be able
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: on your phone to watch any game you know in
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: the NFL. So that's worth four hundred dollars watch a
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: football game on screen? Jacksonville. Yeah, I was just wondering
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: like the street, you know, because everybody has all the
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: streaming services now, so I was just wondering if that
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: was it's gonna be. It's gonna be a pre but
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: you have to pay for extra. Oh yeah, for the
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: for all those games? No interest. What was the first
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: part of your questions? Was there first part of something
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: you said? I felt like I had a comment on
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: the red zone would be put would put me in
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: a dilemma if they made red zone. It's on something
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: that you had. If you had to pay extra for
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: red zone, it's a good I have no interest in
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: having the ability to see every game in its entirety.
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: I don't care because I won't watch them, but I
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: will watch red Zone when I came out a good
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: red zone Paul. This year with the one o'clock games,
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: you know a lot of one o'clockers, so that means
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: a lot of four o'clock during postgame shows. I don't
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: remember what the first question was. Oh, sorry, no, I
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: gets sight. Sorry sorry, anyway, that's gonna be in for
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back on Thursday
