- 0:01Speaker 1: Speaking them on the road. You're fresh back, how are
- 0:03Speaker 1: the travels? Everything good?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Good. We had a good weekend in New York. I
- 0:07Speaker 2: took part in the little documentary for Charlie Kirk that's
- 0:10Speaker 2: going to air on stations all around the country on
- 0:12Speaker 2: the one year anniversary of his assassination. We also are
- 0:16Speaker 2: going to have a special sale to September tenth, correct,
- 0:19Speaker 2: September tenth on a year I cannot believe. I'll never
- 0:22Speaker 2: forget that. I mean two days, we'll never forget, but
- 0:25Speaker 2: hard to believe. And so we'll see how the haters
- 0:28Speaker 2: handle the one year anniversary. But here at Salem, we're
- 0:31Speaker 2: going to be commemorating his memory and honoring him on
- 0:34Speaker 2: Salem News Channel and on stations around the country. What
- 0:39Speaker 2: about this, there's a lot of drama out of South Carolina.
- 0:42Speaker 2: There's some political drama I want to tell you about,
- 0:45Speaker 2: which is fascinating. I just reposted something from X somebody
- 0:51Speaker 2: I don't know who this is, Raw Voice X, but
- 0:53Speaker 2: they posted a meme or it's an AI video of
- 0:57Speaker 2: Darlene Graham Nordan being careried around on a throne by
- 1:01Speaker 2: the peasants. Because of course, the line now is that
- 1:05Speaker 2: she's being really anointed. You know that she hasn't hasn't served.
- 1:09Speaker 2: She's Lindsay's sister. They don't know anything about her and
- 1:13Speaker 2: the common the reposter says. South Carolina's Darlene Graham Nordone
- 1:19Speaker 2: struts through the marble halls of Congress like she left
- 1:23Speaker 2: the stove on in another state. Colleagues follow like they
- 1:28Speaker 2: already accepted their fate. Ends into the camera with her, saying,
- 1:32Speaker 2: I pray about it. It's both policy and a banger.
- 1:35Speaker 2: You know. Let me share with you some behind the
- 1:38Speaker 2: scenes drama that I think you're going to find intriguing,
- 1:40Speaker 2: and it hits close to home. A couple of big
- 1:43Speaker 2: stories out of South Carolina right now that do hit
- 1:45Speaker 2: close to home. Number one is the political one, and
- 1:48Speaker 2: the second one is the tragedy of the untimely death
- 1:51Speaker 2: of Hayden Panitiere, Who's who died actress. He's thirty six.
- 1:56Speaker 2: It's like, what Nashville, this big star, and that she
- 2:00Speaker 2: died in Greenville, South Carolina. And it turns out I've
- 2:03Speaker 2: got a family friend connection to her, so yeah, I've
- 2:07Speaker 2: got it.
- 2:07Speaker 1: So and listen, any anybody can die of anything at
- 2:10Speaker 1: any time. But when somebody drops it thirty six, you
- 2:13Speaker 1: kind of think.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Well, she struggled with addiction. She struggled with addiction, It
- 2:18Speaker 2: was well publicized. She struggled with depression. She was apparently
- 2:22Speaker 2: there with her on again, off again boyfriend, who you know,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I think also had some some well documented struggles with addiction. Look, addiction, depression,
- 2:32Speaker 2: it knows no economic boundary, it knows no sociological boundary.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It hits the rich and famous just like it hits
- 2:40Speaker 2: ordinary people, you know, like you and me. I mean,
- 2:43Speaker 2: it's just it's everywhere, and it's awful and it's a
- 2:46Speaker 2: it's a demon, and it's just hard to get that
- 2:48Speaker 2: off your back.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And I know, you know what's coming up speaking of
- 2:51Speaker 1: it on that theme, we I got a little bit
- 2:54Speaker 1: of movie talk for you. I think we should put
- 2:57Speaker 1: a pin in it for podcast today because I went
- 3:00Speaker 1: and saw the other film that's kind of twilight Zone,
- 3:04Speaker 1: weird things happening in ordinary people. And then I then
- 3:07Speaker 1: I did indeed consume The Last House, and I have opinions,
- 3:11Speaker 1: Oh good, because you how can you walk out of
- 3:14Speaker 1: a movie that's streaming in your own house?
- 3:16Speaker 2: Mike did it? I walked out, I went walked out
- 3:19Speaker 2: of it, walked into the kitchen, so I went.
- 3:23Speaker 1: But anyway, but we're sitting there. We went and saw
- 3:28Speaker 1: the End of Oak Street, which the reviews were supposedly better,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and the movie was supposed to be better. An entire neighborhood.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Everybody wakes up and an entire neighborhood is simply vanished
- 3:38Speaker 1: to replace somewhere else. I thought, Okay, for Twilight Zone,
- 3:41Speaker 1: it's the dumbest thing I've seen in years, and I'll
- 3:45Speaker 1: fix further further thoughts to.
- 3:48Speaker 2: That couldn't be as dumb as the last house. We
- 3:50Speaker 2: will that one. We will talk.
- 3:52Speaker 1: We will talk in podcast city, but for the previews.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And this took take me on the notion of your
- 3:59Speaker 1: life and seem magnificent and yet you simply never know, right,
- 4:05Speaker 1: So I don't know if we talked about it so much.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But you remember when Anthony Bourdain died suicide, Frances, like, dude,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean, I had had people in his life, had
- 4:13Speaker 1: the best job in the world, traveling the world eating.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He was a person of bold opinions. And so there's
- 4:19Speaker 1: a movie coming out called Tony and it's this weekend.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Wonderful young actor named dominic cessa plays him, but it
- 4:28Speaker 1: is about sort of his early formative years. And we've
- 4:31Speaker 1: just loved the Anthony Bourdain shows, from No Reservations to
- 4:36Speaker 1: whatever the travel show was. Lisa in particular that when
- 4:40Speaker 1: we went and did Cape Cod Nantucket, we went up
- 4:43Speaker 1: to Provincetown, to the restaurant where he got his start.
- 4:47Speaker 1: His book, Kitchen Confidential, is one of the one of
- 4:50Speaker 1: my favorite books of the last ten years. It's the
- 4:53Speaker 1: rest which takes me directly to the Bear, which just
- 4:56Speaker 1: wrapped up. It's season five. We did the finale that
- 5:00Speaker 1: last night. Magnificent ship. The restaurant world has always intrigued me,
- 5:03Speaker 1: how rough and tumble it is, how thankless it is.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It's like being in combat in a very loose and
- 5:08Speaker 1: lyrical way. But Tony with Dominic Cessa is apparently about
- 5:12Speaker 1: Anthony Bourdain's early formative Provincetown restaurant years. Can't wait for that.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But that's another example of somebody who went on to live.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Naomi jud Right, You just people are rich, they're famous,
- 5:25Speaker 1: they have everything, but they may also have the incredible
- 5:29Speaker 1: baggage of depression or addiction. You just you just never know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: and well.
- 5:33Speaker 2: The darkness you think about a guy like Anthony Bourdain
- 5:37Speaker 2: who had it all and yet apparently he had a
- 5:39Speaker 2: tortured relationship. And I think, as I remember the story,
- 5:42Speaker 2: the depression or the suicide was a result of of
- 5:45Speaker 2: I maybe a failed you know, relationship that he had
- 5:48Speaker 2: with some with some woman, and it's just an aught.
- 5:51Speaker 2: You never know, it's just and I always wonder suicide
- 5:54Speaker 2: is a permanent answer to a temporary problem and people
- 5:58Speaker 2: just can't get out of that darkness. So anyway, there's
- 6:01Speaker 2: that sadness. And then on the political front, my pal
- 6:04Speaker 2: Joey was Joey Hudson was supposed to be on the
- 6:06Speaker 2: panel tomorrow night in the debate that's going to be
- 6:09Speaker 2: televised nationally on Newsmax between Darlene Graham, Nordone and Ralph Norman.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Joey's been Joey's been bumped, and he was bumped from
- 6:19Speaker 2: the debate because the Darlene Graham campaign didn't like Newsmax
- 6:25Speaker 2: apparently handling this debate and as a result, they got
- 6:30Speaker 2: they played tough with the South Carolina GOP and the
- 6:34Speaker 2: only condition that apparently the Graham can and this is
- 6:37Speaker 2: going to make some news today and we're gonna have
- 6:39Speaker 2: Joey on on the show because a lot of people
- 6:41Speaker 2: don't know the backstory. And you've got to know something,
- 6:45Speaker 2: Mark Joey is beloved in the upstate of South Carolina.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And a and a straight shooter and calling back. Joey
- 6:51Speaker 1: has his views and we'll go he's fair fan, he's
- 6:55Speaker 1: a complete honest broker in this He's a pro.
- 6:58Speaker 2: He's a pro, and he's love and he's respected. And
- 7:01Speaker 2: the fact that he got basically fired from this debate
- 7:04Speaker 2: is not sitting well with a whole lot of people
- 7:07Speaker 2: in South Carolina. And I mean state wide, there are
- 7:09Speaker 2: people on the state level and here's the let me
- 7:12Speaker 2: give you the backstory here real quick. I've got a question.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Go ahead. The gram campaign didn't like They don't like Newsmax.
- 7:18Speaker 2: They think Newsmax is going to be unfair to her,
- 7:21Speaker 2: So they demanded that ETV be brought into the mix.
- 7:25Speaker 2: ETV is the public television version in South Carolina. It's
- 7:30Speaker 2: it's basically public you know PBS in South Carolina. Well,
- 7:34Speaker 2: they'll be neutral and they'll be fair. So we insist
- 7:37Speaker 2: that we add ETV, public television to them to the
- 7:41Speaker 2: debate mix, which now is going to have to add
- 7:44Speaker 2: a panelist from ETV, and there goes Joey out the door,
- 7:48Speaker 2: because well, the set only has space for three panelists.
- 7:52Speaker 2: We're not going to have four. So Joey's out and
- 7:56Speaker 2: it's bad. This is a bad situation here.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And the question, here's the underlying thing here, is that
- 8:01Speaker 1: Ralph Norman is a proven conservative with a track record
- 8:05Speaker 1: in Congress. And Darlene is a really nice lady whose
- 8:07Speaker 1: brother died. Now she has been saying a lot of
- 8:10Speaker 1: really nice, really good things about Satan America Act, about
- 8:14Speaker 1: girls in boys and girls sports. But but she's saying
- 8:18Speaker 1: all the right things. But there's just no track record there.
- 8:20Speaker 1: As I said on Twitter this morning, I do not
- 8:23Speaker 1: know if Darlene Graham is going to be the high
- 8:26Speaker 1: priestess of GOP squishery. I don't know that, but I
- 8:29Speaker 1: know that Ralph Norman will not be, and for that
- 8:33Speaker 1: he is the only choice for South Carolina conservatives. Now
- 8:36Speaker 1: that's me, that's just if I were in that state voting.
- 8:39Speaker 1: The gathering narrative, though, is that Darlene is a trojan
- 8:43Speaker 1: horse for establishment squishery. And this story you've just told
- 8:47Speaker 1: me does not dilute that narrative.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Well, she's being very tightly managed by her team, make
- 8:54Speaker 2: no mistake about it. And this debate, drama and debacle
- 8:58Speaker 2: is an example of that. And they're making some tough
- 9:01Speaker 2: decisions and maybe wrongheaded decisions. We're going to find out,
- 9:05Speaker 2: and we're going to talk to Joey about it as well.
- 9:07Speaker 2: By the way, another note about tragic passings and sad
- 9:11Speaker 2: deaths and suicides and all that you read about the
- 9:14Speaker 2: plagiarizing Cambridge professor. He also killed himself apparently over the weekend.
- 9:19Speaker 1: He caught this and you know, and and.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He lied about everything. This kid had apparently a book
- 9:24Speaker 2: that he was this young black trailblazing professor, and I
- 9:29Speaker 2: wrote a book, and he tried, he ran for cancer
- 9:33Speaker 2: and he didn't really and I guess he got caught
- 9:36Speaker 2: in one lie after another. So just a lot of
- 9:38Speaker 2: crazy stories. And speaking of crazy stories, we didn't have
- 9:43Speaker 2: time to talk about this. Friday, Luigi man Gione pled
- 9:46Speaker 2: guilty to in cold blooded cowardice killing Brian Thompson, the
- 9:52Speaker 2: United Healthcare CEO. They interviewed people outside the courtrooms Friday.
- 9:56Speaker 2: All he's got all these fans, Luigi Manngone has all
- 9:59Speaker 2: these these young women and one of them said, I
- 10:03Speaker 2: want him to be healthy and happy. Yeah, well, no
- 10:07Speaker 2: such luck for Brian Thompson is no indeed. And what
- 10:09Speaker 2: were the two words?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Because this was breaking as the podcast started on Friday,
- 10:12Speaker 1: we kind of got to cover it as breaking news, right,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and then what were the two quotes that were kind
- 10:17Speaker 1: of chilling Is that that the killing of the CEO
- 10:19Speaker 1: was okay because it started the conversation. And there was
- 10:24Speaker 1: one other, one other reference that seemed to just totally
- 10:27Speaker 1: justify killing people in cold blood in the street if
- 10:30Speaker 1: it kind of moves the ball downfield on a on
- 10:33Speaker 1: a debate conversation you want to have.
- 10:35Speaker 2: I really think the Luigi Mangione killing of Brian Thompson
- 10:40Speaker 2: sort of opened those flood gags that may even have
- 10:42Speaker 2: led to the climate that led to Charlie's assassination. Don't
- 10:45Speaker 2: you think? Don't you think there was a legitimate a
- 10:47Speaker 2: normalization from the left of political violence that was starting
- 10:51Speaker 2: with somebody disagree, kill them death disagree, Hey, healthcare system
- 10:55Speaker 2: doesn't work. I had a bad back. Incidentally, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 2: the irony of him targeting Brian and United Healthcare, You're
- 11:01Speaker 2: not healthcare didn't have anything to do with his own
- 11:04Speaker 2: with Luigi's own problems. Anyway, it started the conversation Mike, Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 2: I got it in the news. I want him to
- 11:11Speaker 2: be happy and healthy. Poor kid, you know, he's a victim,
- 11:13Speaker 2: and let's hope he doesn't get, you know, too rough
- 11:16Speaker 2: a treatment in federal prison where he's going to rot
- 11:18Speaker 2: for the rest of his miserable.
- 11:20Speaker 1: These people who are out there again, it mostly is women,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and God bless the ladies, who generally are smarter and
- 11:26Speaker 1: stronger than we are, and in some ways, you know,
- 11:28Speaker 1: we the ones given birth, but there's something about the
- 11:30Speaker 1: ladies you all got to check yourselves with with with
- 11:34Speaker 1: this kind of thing, with bad boys on death row
- 11:37Speaker 1: or people who do terrible things and the fan clubs
- 11:39Speaker 1: that they develop. Hans von Spakowski was on as he
- 11:43Speaker 1: is I guess every Monday with Larry O'Connor, and they
- 11:45Speaker 1: when I popped in and hit the board and started listening,
- 11:48Speaker 1: they spent their last couple of minutes talking about this,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and Hans said, this struck a bell of memory to me.
- 11:54Speaker 1: This guy looks like the Manson gang, where these were
- 11:58Speaker 1: one step away from people advocating what he does. If
- 12:01Speaker 1: you were to somehow get out or somebody like him
- 12:03Speaker 1: were to or even from prison, or to get a
- 12:06Speaker 1: cultish following. Hey, here's some other executives you can kill.
- 12:10Speaker 1: They would do it for him, They would do it.
- 12:12Speaker 1: That's how cool they would do it. That's how close
- 12:14Speaker 1: we are. And it did kind of open up those
- 12:17Speaker 1: horrible floodgates. Meanwhile, one of the podcast comments we got
- 12:20Speaker 1: topics we got to cover today is the mayor from Massachusetts. Now,
- 12:26Speaker 1: if you've seen this guy in American City, I think
- 12:28Speaker 1: it's I think it's Lawrence, Massachusetts. We'll know by podcast time.
- 12:33Speaker 1: And he's from the Dominican Republic. He was arrested, all right.
- 12:38Speaker 1: He was arrested for stealing over a million dollars of
- 12:40Speaker 1: COVID relief money. So he's doing the purp walk, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 1: and his aids are all around him, and the reporters
- 12:46Speaker 1: are thrusting the microphones in front of him. Mark, the
- 12:50Speaker 1: mayor of Lawrence, Massachusetts, doesn't speak English, and in fact,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and in fact one of his aides said as much
- 12:57Speaker 1: to the reporters. He literally said, he doesn't. They're asking him,
- 13:02Speaker 1: did you steal the money, mister mayor? Did you steal
- 13:04Speaker 1: the money? And the aide says, quote, he doesn't speak English,
- 13:08Speaker 1: no comment. That's the assistant of the mayor of an
- 13:11Speaker 1: American city. As I posted about this over the weekend,
- 13:14Speaker 1: our melting pot has officially melted.
- 13:17Speaker 2: There's no melting.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I mean Mark, because melting means all the ingredients kind
- 13:21Speaker 1: of him together, and he was more of a salad
- 13:23Speaker 1: bowl guy, where the ingredients are together, but they're very
- 13:25Speaker 1: just thing. And it's funny talking about the English skills.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I think this was also podcast you said on Friday
- 13:31Speaker 1: and played a thing of a woman who had a
- 13:33Speaker 1: lot of beefs and grapes about her fear of ice.
- 13:37Speaker 1: She'd been in the country for like thirty five years,
- 13:39Speaker 1: didn't speak a word of English correct seven. Her interpreter
- 13:43Speaker 1: seemed more said about it than she was. She was
- 13:45Speaker 1: angrier about it than the lady was.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Kakarma Litu was just reading the statement in Spanish and
- 13:50Speaker 2: the interpreter was screaming and nostrils were flaring, like, by
- 13:53Speaker 2: the way, let's and let's not get out of here
- 13:55Speaker 2: with that credit where credit is due, we bury the lead.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm told by reliable sources that it's this guy Mark Davis,
- 14:01Speaker 2: who helped lead the charge, and they reversed the foot
- 14:06Speaker 2: washing baths.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I do talk shows. Senator Tan Parker on the show,
- 14:11Speaker 1: on this show, here are the questions he had. I
- 14:13Speaker 1: think those got to Governor Abbott. Governor, this is illegal.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna cut off the funding. In the airport said,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I don't think we're doing the foot wash.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm giving you credit. I'm saying you did it.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Maybe podcast, maybe your show. They do still have foot
- 14:26Speaker 1: washing stations. They're over by the chapel.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I don't know. It gives me a headache. I don't care.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I look at this one podcast podcast podcast, don't miss it, Apple, Spotify, YouTube,
- 14:38Speaker 2: wherever you get your podcasts. Come join M and M
- 14:41Speaker 2: extra am, I'm am, I love you, See you later.
