Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion has Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Saint Hawks. It's Michael Bumpas with a diving catch in
- 0:21Speaker 1: the end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpas,
- 0:25Speaker 1: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:28Speaker 1: a place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Welcome to Hawk Talk Recap edition on Michael Bumpas along
- 0:37Speaker 1: with Nasty Show with his Seahawks beat the forty nine
- 0:39Speaker 1: ers thirty to twenty three at home and get back
- 0:42Speaker 1: in the wind column. Let's break this all down and
- 0:44Speaker 1: figure out exactly how they did it. See what had
- 0:47Speaker 1: happened at First World. What had happened was on Hawk
- 0:52Speaker 1: Talk victory simple as that bump That's exactly what happened.
- 0:57Speaker 1: The Seahawks take down the forty nine ers, and let
- 0:59Speaker 1: me tell man, victory is so sweet, especially when it's
- 1:02Speaker 1: against the forty nine ers, because honestly, bump when that
- 1:05Speaker 1: game started. There's a lot more red than I'm used
- 1:07Speaker 1: to seeing at Looming Field. So it made me feel
- 1:10Speaker 1: really good in a warm place in my heart that
- 1:12Speaker 1: a lot of those forty nine er jerseys got sent
- 1:15Speaker 1: home after buying them expensive tickets. With an l shout
- 1:18Speaker 1: out to my friend Katie Chan. She showed up pregame,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you know, talking little noise, and I had to let
- 1:22Speaker 1: her know. I said I'd mentioned on the podcast if
- 1:24Speaker 1: the forty nine ers won, gonna mention her anyway, because
- 1:27Speaker 1: they did not win, so I love to see it.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Russell Wilson is dominant over the San Francisco forty nine
- 1:33Speaker 1: ers with a seventeen and four record including the postseason.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So bump, yeah, man, first win since Halloween, you know
- 1:42Speaker 1: when the typing now, I was like, that can't be right.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But you know, the bye week and then Seahawks had
- 1:46Speaker 1: lost three straight so it's been a long time coming.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And it wasn't necessarily pretty the whole way, you know,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but the Seahawks got it done where it counted the most,
- 1:54Speaker 1: and that's on the scoreboard. But bump fireworks from the
- 1:57Speaker 1: jump After a three and out, Travis Homer gets a
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yaks on the board with a seventy three yard touchdown
- 2:02Speaker 1: on a fake punt on fourth down, and that just
- 2:05Speaker 1: goes to the film study. I mean to call that
- 2:08Speaker 1: play backed up in your own territory. You know that
- 2:10Speaker 1: you're gonna have success, and for Travis Homer and Tyler
- 2:13Speaker 1: Odd and those guys to just know what they're doing
- 2:14Speaker 1: on that play, which is great for the Seahawks. But
- 2:16Speaker 1: after that bump, it looked ugly. Forty nine Ers score
- 2:20Speaker 1: seventeen unanswered points to take a seventeen to seven lead.
- 2:24Speaker 1: The Seahawks had a ton of negative plays and even
- 2:26Speaker 1: faced a second in forty three at that point in
- 2:30Speaker 1: the game, bump, what were you thinking? Did you have
- 2:33Speaker 1: faith that the Seahawks were going to figure it out
- 2:34Speaker 1: at that point? At that point, I'm a little suspect,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and I'm in second and forty three. I'm like, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: don't think I've seen those numbers at Louman Fields, and
- 2:43Speaker 1: so I've been covering the Seahawks, and you're right, it
- 2:45Speaker 1: just looks sloppy. Never nothing seemed to click. But going
- 2:48Speaker 1: back to that that fake punt, that was a sign adjustment.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I heard Travis Homer speaking, goes look, man, we got
- 2:54Speaker 1: in the huddle, we saw the personnel that we lined up.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Everybody knew off of this look, this is what we're
- 3:00Speaker 1: gonna do. So the coaches got him ready, but the
- 3:02Speaker 1: players still had to execute. But then after that, you're right, man,
- 3:04Speaker 1: the nine is they start looking good. They're moving the
- 3:06Speaker 1: football seventeen on aster points, second and forty three. I'm thinking,
- 3:09Speaker 1: come on, fellas, come on, fellas, we can't be doing
- 3:12Speaker 1: this again. But somehow, some way, they kept fighting. Absolutely. Man,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we had a moment in the press box looking at
- 3:17Speaker 1: each other like, man, not again. I kind of had
- 3:20Speaker 1: that feeling, and luckily for me, I wasn't playing on
- 3:22Speaker 1: the field because the Seahawks hung in there and got
- 3:25Speaker 1: things going after that. The Seahawks responded after that within
- 3:28Speaker 1: nine play sixty three yard drive ending with an Adrian
- 3:31Speaker 1: Peterson touchdown, making the score seventeen fourteen. Ap tied Jim
- 3:36Speaker 1: Brown for the tenth most touchdowns all time, and I
- 3:39Speaker 1: believe he's like fourth or fifth all time in rushing touchdown.
- 3:42Speaker 1: So great to see Adrian Peterson making a contribution right
- 3:45Speaker 1: in his first game with the Seahawks. On the other side, though,
- 3:48Speaker 1: George kittle Man Tyler talking about that man every time.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Nine receptions, one hundred and eighty one yards, two touchdowns.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He had a crazy forty eight yard touchdown tiptoe in
- 3:58Speaker 1: the sideline made the score twenty three to fourteen. But
- 4:02Speaker 1: good for the Seahawks. Forty nine will miss the extra point.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But this is the moment where the Seahawks continue to
- 4:08Speaker 1: kind of find themselves offensively. They answered again with another
- 4:11Speaker 1: long drive, eight play sixty five yards, ending with a
- 4:14Speaker 1: touchdown pass a d estrich called by Michael Bumpus right
- 4:17Speaker 1: before the play in the booths. A nice job there.
- 4:20Speaker 1: The Seahawks trail twenty three to twenty one at the half,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and then walk me through the next crazy sequence to
- 4:26Speaker 1: start the second half. Man start the second half, forty
- 4:30Speaker 1: nine is get the full ball, Nig Ballard does what
- 4:32Speaker 1: he does and forces a fumble on the opening kickoff.
- 4:35Speaker 1: You feel the energy just change in the stadium. Do
- 4:38Speaker 1: you feel it happened in the Seahawks will get the
- 4:40Speaker 1: ball in the three yard line. Who do you go to?
- 4:43Speaker 1: The tight end who's been producing the last couple of weeks.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You go back to Gerald Everett. Similar kind of concept
- 4:49Speaker 1: to what we saw the week before. When he scored
- 4:50Speaker 1: his touchdown, Rush throws him a football. He's wide open,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I mean wide up, and all he needs to do
- 4:55Speaker 1: is catch the ball and turn. He turns before he
- 4:57Speaker 1: catches the fullball, fumbles that thing around and they kick up.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I understand what he's trying to do. He's trying to
- 5:02Speaker 1: kick it to himself. He's like, look, I'm trying to
- 5:03Speaker 1: make this play man. He kicks it up forty nine
- 5:07Speaker 1: intercepting that football, and you feel the mood just change
- 5:11Speaker 1: in the stadium. But now defense, that Seahawks defense stands tall.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Jimmy G and them are backed up. They drop into
- 5:19Speaker 1: a pass and Carlos Dunlap, grown man's this offensive bullrushes
- 5:24Speaker 1: and puts them on his bottom or as Rabel would
- 5:27Speaker 1: say on his wallets, gets to Jimmy G grabs him
- 5:30Speaker 1: down safety sack. We've been waiting for Dunlap to make
- 5:33Speaker 1: it play. Hasn't played a lot, but had a very
- 5:36Speaker 1: efficient day yesterday. Absolutely, and at that moment you kind
- 5:38Speaker 1: of feel like, Okay, the Seahawks are in it again.
- 5:41Speaker 1: They're making plays defensively, offensively, they kind that's when the
- 5:44Speaker 1: tide really turned both teams after that with trade punts.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Quandre Diggs came up big, intercepting Jimmy g again the
- 5:50Speaker 1: second time in the ball game. Bobby Wadner had an
- 5:52Speaker 1: interceptor earlier in the game, ran it back to the
- 5:55Speaker 1: San Francisco twenty eight yard line, and Russell Wilson in
- 5:58Speaker 1: that offense would take advantage, hitting Tyler Lockett for a
- 6:01Speaker 1: twelve yard go ahead touchdown and the Seahawks man, at
- 6:04Speaker 1: that point, you felt like the game was over. The
- 6:06Speaker 1: defense got a couple more stops, the Seahawks would drive
- 6:09Speaker 1: the length of the field and they're about to ice
- 6:11Speaker 1: the game. And then nice little shovel pass to Jerald
- 6:14Speaker 1: Evert and he fumbled on the goal line, giving the
- 6:16Speaker 1: Niners the ball back. And I just felt, like you
- 6:18Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, for Jerald Evert, man, he had a really
- 6:21Speaker 1: tough day at the office after playing unreal football. Up
- 6:24Speaker 1: into this point, he's been one of the better and
- 6:27Speaker 1: recently in the last three games he's been one of
- 6:28Speaker 1: the only bright spots on the offensive side of the ball. So,
- 6:31Speaker 1: really tough day for Gerald. He's gonna bounce back bigger
- 6:34Speaker 1: and better than ever So felt for him on that.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But that set the forty nine ers up to make
- 6:38Speaker 1: things interesting. Seahawks are only up seven. They drive twelve
- 6:42Speaker 1: plays ninety five yards all the way down to the
- 6:45Speaker 1: Seahawks three yard line, setting up this fourth and goal
- 6:49Speaker 1: with the game on the line. With a single setback,
- 6:51Speaker 1: Garoppolo looks falls tipped up in the air. It's gonna
- 6:55Speaker 1: fall to the ground. We're gonna win this football game.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Go forth. Repass was tipped the line of scrimmage. I
- 7:03Speaker 1: don't know who tipped it, but I want to go
- 7:05Speaker 1: down and ship that man's hand. I might have been
- 7:09Speaker 1: done last. And on fourth down end goal from the free,
- 7:14Speaker 1: the Seahawks takeover, and they'll have one knee and this
- 7:18Speaker 1: game will be over and the Seahawks will break a
- 7:21Speaker 1: losing streak that has been unlike anything the Seahawks and
- 7:26Speaker 1: their fans have seen in the last decade. You can
- 7:30Speaker 1: just feel the excitement from from Sea Rabel and that
- 7:32Speaker 1: call just you know, just getting it out, finally feeling
- 7:35Speaker 1: that victory feeling the Seahawks have so desperately been chasing
- 7:38Speaker 1: the last month. They got into victory formation and sealed
- 7:42Speaker 1: the victory beating the forty nine ers. But bump, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: looking back on that whole game, you know, what are
- 7:48Speaker 1: your biggest takeaways from the win and specifically the offense
- 7:51Speaker 1: figuring things out and finally getting into a rhythm for
- 7:53Speaker 1: the first time in quite some time. Well, you need
- 7:56Speaker 1: a win. You don't care how you get it, you
- 7:58Speaker 1: don't care what it looks like, you don't care who contributes.
- 8:02Speaker 1: You just want to get a DEBBI. So first and foremost,
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm happy for those guys to be able to do that. Second,
- 8:07Speaker 1: we saw explosive plays from DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett
- 8:12Speaker 1: something that we haven't seen from both of them in
- 8:14Speaker 1: a few weeks. When you have the dynamic duo out there,
- 8:17Speaker 1: you have to get these guys to football, and that's
- 8:19Speaker 1: exactly what we saw. We also saw Russell Wilson slowly
- 8:23Speaker 1: start to play better. Now he's one of our playmakers,
- 8:25Speaker 1: will talk about him in a minute. But he looked healthy,
- 8:29Speaker 1: he looked decisive. He struggled at times, but he found
- 8:32Speaker 1: a way to kind of stay out of it. And
- 8:33Speaker 1: now this offensive line played better. Russell still sacked four times,
- 8:37Speaker 1: still had some pressure on him, but they played well
- 8:39Speaker 1: enough to allow Russell to get down the field and
- 8:42Speaker 1: make some throws. Now, the run game wasn't great either.
- 8:45Speaker 1: You know, you got what ninety something yards Russian. I
- 8:48Speaker 1: believe seventy of those yards came off off that fake punt.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But when they got down in the red zone, they
- 8:53Speaker 1: could run the ball well enough to be a threat.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So what I saw was a team who battled and
- 8:58Speaker 1: did just enough to And in the NFL, that's all
- 9:01Speaker 1: you need, isn't in college football where you're looking for
- 9:03Speaker 1: style points, even though even though style points are great now,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I would love a nice little thirty thirty ye old game,
- 9:08Speaker 1: but that just doesn't happen off in the NFL. So, um,
- 9:11Speaker 1: they're looking good, man, and they'd beat the quality team.
- 9:14Speaker 1: This isn't Jacksonville Jaguars. This is the forty nine ers
- 9:16Speaker 1: who were playing really good football. They'd like to run
- 9:18Speaker 1: that thing. They didn't run for the yardists that they
- 9:20Speaker 1: used to doing. So now, overall, man satisfying win and
- 9:24Speaker 1: got it done at home second time this year. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And one of the things that you brought up, DK
- 9:28Speaker 1: Metcalf having an explosive play. I honestly think that saved
- 9:31Speaker 1: the game right there, because if you remember, the Seahawks
- 9:33Speaker 1: were down seventeen to seven driving down and it was
- 9:36Speaker 1: third and fourteen because the Seahawks had a tough, a
- 9:39Speaker 1: tough little sequence there. They called the time out because
- 9:42Speaker 1: the play call was getting down, then ended up taking
- 9:44Speaker 1: a delay of game right after that. It was third
- 9:46Speaker 1: and fourteen, and you at that point you weren't really
- 9:49Speaker 1: confident with the Seahawks were doing at all. They had
- 9:51Speaker 1: in any explosive plays, and that big thirty three year
- 9:54Speaker 1: opacit dk Metcalf really changed the game set up. You know,
- 9:58Speaker 1: eventually Adrian Peterson getting that touchdown, So that's really where
- 10:00Speaker 1: the game changed. So good to see that too. But
- 10:04Speaker 1: let's show some loves and the other guys man, because
- 10:06Speaker 1: Rashad Penny, Travis Homer, guys like that. They didn't necessarily
- 10:09Speaker 1: light up the scoreboard in terms of stats and a
- 10:12Speaker 1: Fox score. But a guy like Rashad played his best football.
- 10:15Speaker 1: We've seen him a couple of years. Yeah, it's nice
- 10:17Speaker 1: to see Rashad be explosive and get back up. The
- 10:20Speaker 1: last couple of times we see him make a big play,
- 10:22Speaker 1: he gets hit, he goes down, he's on the sideline,
- 10:24Speaker 1: we don't see him for a while, and you see
- 10:27Speaker 1: the burst in the dude. That's the thing he's like
- 10:29Speaker 1: you see it. You're like, man, it's there. When he
- 10:31Speaker 1: is healthy, he's one of the most explosive and the
- 10:34Speaker 1: fastest player on the football field. Nice to see him.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And then Travis Homer has two of the oddest touchdowns
- 10:39Speaker 1: of the year. He's got an onside return, he's scooped
- 10:42Speaker 1: and scored, and then he has that fake punt. You
- 10:44Speaker 1: talk about utility guy, I mean that's Travis Homer. He's
- 10:47Speaker 1: typically in when it's time to throw the football, and
- 10:49Speaker 1: now he's a special team specialist. And then ds Gridge
- 10:52Speaker 1: getting his first touchdown. Man, we're saying a lot of
- 10:54Speaker 1: names well usually don't talk about. Yeah, no, love to
- 10:56Speaker 1: see the youth movement, and we got to figure out
- 10:58Speaker 1: a way because I think Nick Blowers are already a
- 11:01Speaker 1: lock on special teams like a lot to go to
- 11:03Speaker 1: the Pro Bowl. But we gotta get Travis Homers some love. Man,
- 11:05Speaker 1: get out there on social hashtag Pro Bowl vote tager
- 11:08Speaker 1: boy Travis Homer. We gotta get that man out of
- 11:10Speaker 1: the Pro Bowl too, because he's doing a lot of things.
- 11:12Speaker 1: He's taking a lot of heat unfairly over his time
- 11:14Speaker 1: in Seattle, but he's definitely contribute to this football team
- 11:17Speaker 1: and a lot of major ways. And the last thing
- 11:20Speaker 1: I want to say before we get in the playmaker's
- 11:22Speaker 1: bump is another shout out to some more love to
- 11:25Speaker 1: the offensive line. Jake Kurhan got in the football game
- 11:28Speaker 1: as well as stone Force sythe And if you're stone
- 11:31Speaker 1: Force life, who's really barely played this year? You've played,
- 11:33Speaker 1: if you've been active a couple of times, maybe done
- 11:35Speaker 1: a little special teams here and there in pat but
- 11:37Speaker 1: to now be active and you hop in the game
- 11:40Speaker 1: and Nick Bosa has lined up in front of you,
- 11:43Speaker 1: that is a tall task to step into. And I
- 11:45Speaker 1: thought he did a great job helping this guy's out.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And though we got to see him, man, I've been waiting.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I've been waiting for Force sThe baby, and so unfortunate
- 11:53Speaker 1: he had to get in this way, but he stepped in,
- 11:55Speaker 1: did a decent job. Love to see it. Now, bump,
- 11:58Speaker 1: Let's get into some of these playmakers. Playmakers, all right,
- 12:13Speaker 1: First playmaker Russell Wilson thirty or thirty seven, two hundred
- 12:15Speaker 1: and thirty one yards, two touchdowns and one interception that
- 12:18Speaker 1: wasn't his fault. This was his best game since he's
- 12:21Speaker 1: been back. He passed Joe Flacco for fifth place for
- 12:23Speaker 1: the most passing yards in the quarterback's first ten seasons
- 12:27Speaker 1: in NFL history, with thirty five thousand, seven hundred and
- 12:29Speaker 1: eighty one. He is eight weeks removed from his injury.
- 12:33Speaker 1: His injury is supposed to be a six to six
- 12:36Speaker 1: to eight weeks type deal. He comes back in four
- 12:39Speaker 1: mister unlimited doing what he does. But now I feel
- 12:43Speaker 1: like his mind and his body are in sync now
- 12:45Speaker 1: to like look like we know you. You kind of
- 12:48Speaker 1: pushed the envelope coming back, but now you're officially back.
- 12:51Speaker 1: There's something that happens to an athlete when like your
- 12:53Speaker 1: mind and your body connecting you you firmly believe it.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I know Russell Wilson believed that he was healthy this
- 12:58Speaker 1: whole time. But and he looks at that that injury
- 13:01Speaker 1: report and it says six to eight week injury, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: now he's in his eighth week and he's going into
- 13:06Speaker 1: this game. Mentally, it has to do something for you.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And I saw a guy who looked confident, he's looking healthy,
- 13:11Speaker 1: made a couple of runs, got down, got outside the pocket,
- 13:14Speaker 1: did some things that we were used to seeing. I mean,
- 13:16Speaker 1: without Russell Wilson. This offense doesn't go very efficient day
- 13:19Speaker 1: thirty to thirty seven, two thirty one, two touchdowns. Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 1: a couple of other things about Russell. I liked you
- 13:24Speaker 1: didn't see a ton of you know, in the last
- 13:26Speaker 1: couple of weeks. He saw Russell missing some open guys.
- 13:28Speaker 1: The ball was sailing on him a little bit. He
- 13:31Speaker 1: did overthrow DK a couple of times, but it wasn't
- 13:33Speaker 1: the same type of overthrows that we've seen in the
- 13:35Speaker 1: last couple of weeks. So happy to see that. And
- 13:38Speaker 1: then the other thing is a shout out to his toughness. Man.
- 13:40Speaker 1: The forty nine ers were bringing it with that defensive
- 13:42Speaker 1: line that's one of the best units in the National
- 13:44Speaker 1: Football League, without question, their speed and physicality, and he
- 13:47Speaker 1: took some shots boy right around his head. He just
- 13:50Speaker 1: kept getting up, kept fighting, kept his team in it,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and he did something that was kind of unique and
- 13:56Speaker 1: unusual on the sideline during the game. He brought the
- 13:58Speaker 1: entire offense together as they spoke and he I don't
- 14:01Speaker 1: know exactly what he said, but he got those troops around,
- 14:03Speaker 1: fired everybody up, and from that moment on, this offense
- 14:06Speaker 1: kind of got on the same page. Started to click.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You saw different voices, different leadership out there. So love
- 14:11Speaker 1: to see Russ get back to being Russ that we
- 14:13Speaker 1: know and love and who's been that way for the
- 14:15Speaker 1: last decade. So love to see Russ getting back on track.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Another playmaker, Tyler Lockett, mister consistent man. Seven reception, sixty
- 14:22Speaker 1: eight yards, one touchdown on eight targets, scored the go
- 14:26Speaker 1: ahead touchdown in the third quarter. And that's that's Tyler Lockett.
- 14:29Speaker 1: That's what he does. He's mister consistent. As long as
- 14:31Speaker 1: you give him opportunities. I love to see him getting
- 14:34Speaker 1: eight targets. He should be getting eight targets minimum per game. Him.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Man DK I lock it, you know, always count on him.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He's gonna make the difficult catch. He's gonna be there
- 14:41Speaker 1: when you need him. He's gonna be in spots. I mean,
- 14:44Speaker 1: he's I say to getting us a quiet, humble superstar.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Well you can depend on Travis Homer had three carriers
- 14:51Speaker 1: for eighty yards in one touchdown. Second game this season
- 14:54Speaker 1: where he scored a touchdown on special teams. Now, those
- 14:57Speaker 1: that stat might trick you a little bit. Three for
- 14:59Speaker 1: eight in a touchdown, so seventy three or those yards
- 15:03Speaker 1: was on that fake punt and he was gone and
- 15:05Speaker 1: wasn't no catch at him. Once he got outside, he
- 15:08Speaker 1: was out of there. Man and Travis Homer in moments
- 15:12Speaker 1: like that, like he's standing there, he's like the personal
- 15:14Speaker 1: protection of the wing type right there, and you know
- 15:16Speaker 1: you're getting his football and there's a lot of things
- 15:18Speaker 1: that can go run. You can try to get out
- 15:20Speaker 1: too early, fumbled the snap. Now I get outside running
- 15:22Speaker 1: into a player, but he keeps his composure. He knows
- 15:25Speaker 1: if he can get to the second level, he's gone.
- 15:27Speaker 1: He's extremely fast. I mean, if you don't know that
- 15:29Speaker 1: about Travis Homer, you see that. O'll use him running
- 15:31Speaker 1: in between the tackles often it's usually outside because he's
- 15:33Speaker 1: just a fast human being. Travis Homer Man, we talked
- 15:36Speaker 1: about Nigga Bloord. Definitely the special team has captain, best
- 15:40Speaker 1: special team player in the league. But then you throw
- 15:42Speaker 1: in Travis Homer Man, he's made some huge plays. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I love to see at University in Miami saying Travis
- 15:48Speaker 1: Homer doing his thing. Ds Gridge three receptions, thirty five yards,
- 15:52Speaker 1: one touchdown, his first NFL touchdown. So I'm hoping, I'm
- 15:55Speaker 1: hoping he kept the football. I know Ek and all
- 15:57Speaker 1: the equipment guys are all over that stuff, so I'm
- 15:59Speaker 1: sure they got that first one for him. So I
- 16:01Speaker 1: love to see the rookie come back. He's overcame so
- 16:03Speaker 1: much this year, only played in one game, had a
- 16:06Speaker 1: really bad concussion, had to go down, see all the
- 16:08Speaker 1: specialists been out. Finally came back the last couple of
- 16:11Speaker 1: weeks and starting to get his feet wet in the league.
- 16:12Speaker 1: And there's a lot of potential there. I think he
- 16:14Speaker 1: can do a lot of good things to help this offense.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So really good to see him get out there and
- 16:18Speaker 1: start to find success in his rookie season. He just
- 16:20Speaker 1: has to adjust to the NFL game. You can see
- 16:23Speaker 1: he's fast, he's quick, but you have to play out
- 16:27Speaker 1: of tempo that fits what an offense is asking you
- 16:29Speaker 1: to do. And at times it seems like he's just
- 16:32Speaker 1: trying to do too much. But as he as he
- 16:35Speaker 1: gets these reps, is gonna slow down. And I'm really
- 16:38Speaker 1: excited with this for what this kid can do. Or
- 16:40Speaker 1: Shot Penny not the best game statistically, you look at
- 16:42Speaker 1: the stats, well, tidn't carry his thirty five yards one
- 16:45Speaker 1: reception twenty seven yards, but he had a couple of
- 16:47Speaker 1: runs where you see it like there it is right. Overall,
- 16:50Speaker 1: he contribute over sixty yards of offense to this football team.
- 16:53Speaker 1: But the most important thing is he came out healthy. Healthy.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna Penny's gonna be in my prayers every night
- 17:01Speaker 1: this season. Penny, We're sitting love your away. We want
- 17:04Speaker 1: you to do great, We want you to stay healthy.
- 17:06Speaker 1: If he can be in this rotation and help out
- 17:09Speaker 1: Adrian Peterson, get DJ Dallas in there, Travis Homer to
- 17:12Speaker 1: oddball man who knows what can happen? And then bring
- 17:14Speaker 1: back Alex Conin the more horses you have in a
- 17:17Speaker 1: stable to better. Absolutely, love it, love it, love it,
- 17:19Speaker 1: love it. Love it. Defensively, man, let's go playmakers. Bobby Wagoner,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, the guys in the middle of the the field,
- 17:24Speaker 1: making it, making it happen. Bobby Wagoner and nine tackles,
- 17:27Speaker 1: one pass defended, one interception. Jordan Brooks eleven tackles, one
- 17:31Speaker 1: TfL his fourth straight game with ten plus tackles. Both
- 17:35Speaker 1: of these guys are gonna have over one hundred and
- 17:37Speaker 1: fifty tackles with the sea when it's all setting down
- 17:39Speaker 1: on the year, there's absolute tackling machines, and I just
- 17:42Speaker 1: love the physicality they played with yesterday. Bay. You know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks is getting better and better and better each week.
- 17:47Speaker 1: He's showing you why he was a first round pick
- 17:50Speaker 1: and why he was taken over Patrick Queen from the Ravens,
- 17:53Speaker 1: who's also a nice player. But I think people are
- 17:55Speaker 1: finally starting to see why the Seahawks run office drafted
- 17:58Speaker 1: fifty six. Jordan Brooks is a health of football player.
- 18:00Speaker 1: He's adjusting the life in the NFL. He's doing a
- 18:02Speaker 1: lot of different things that they didn't ask him to
- 18:04Speaker 1: do when he's playing at Texas. Tex So love to
- 18:06Speaker 1: see the maturity there, and he's learned from one of
- 18:08Speaker 1: the best to ever do it next to him in
- 18:09Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner. So love the guys in the middle of
- 18:11Speaker 1: the field making plays, Bobby reading, Jimmy g know, and
- 18:14Speaker 1: he wants to get the ball in the middle of
- 18:15Speaker 1: the field. And on one of the other plays he
- 18:18Speaker 1: had an amazing drop that set it up. You know,
- 18:22Speaker 1: just get He's been getting depth on a lot of
- 18:24Speaker 1: those deep over routes, so he's making plays and I
- 18:27Speaker 1: love to see him fifty four and fifty six. Bobby's
- 18:29Speaker 1: getting so much better at playing in the middle of
- 18:31Speaker 1: the field. Even if he doesn't get his hands on
- 18:32Speaker 1: the football, he's influencing those throws. Right. He got an
- 18:35Speaker 1: interception today, But we saw last week where on that
- 18:38Speaker 1: interception that Diggs had against the Washington football team, he
- 18:41Speaker 1: dropped with that crossing route, influenced that throw, put it
- 18:43Speaker 1: over the top. Little things that Bobby is doing that's
- 18:46Speaker 1: making his defense go. Quandre Diggs four tackles, one interception,
- 18:49Speaker 1: one pass defended. I mean all he does is pick
- 18:51Speaker 1: off Jimmy G. Jimmy G is having nightmares about Quandre.
- 18:54Speaker 1: He's always in the right spot at the right time,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and again, just appreciate his leadership overall. Man, A raw,
- 19:01Speaker 1: real loud guy. He leaves that for Jamal, but when
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's time to make plays and it's time to step
- 19:05Speaker 1: up to the podium, he's always there. Yeah, Quandre's a
- 19:08Speaker 1: man and he can thank his linebacker buddy Bobby Wagner
- 19:11Speaker 1: for that interception because Jimmy G was looking that way.
- 19:13Speaker 1: He mean, Bobby got a nice depth on his drop,
- 19:16Speaker 1: made Jimmy G throw it higher than he wanted to,
- 19:18Speaker 1: overshot his receiver and Bobby Wagner. He shot a little bounce,
- 19:22Speaker 1: got off the ground and threw rights to Quandre Diggs.
- 19:24Speaker 1: But Quadre Diggs the reason he gets interceptions because he's
- 19:27Speaker 1: always in the right spot. When you're do where you're
- 19:29Speaker 1: supposed to do and you're in right spot, the ball
- 19:30Speaker 1: finds you. Last guy, Carlos Dunlap bump. He only played
- 19:34Speaker 1: seven snaps on Sunday. That's crazy. He only played seven snaps,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but he mentioned his postgame press conference make the most
- 19:41Speaker 1: of your opportunity. He did that. He had a sack
- 19:44Speaker 1: which turned into a safety, and then one pass defended
- 19:46Speaker 1: which sealed the Seahawks victory. And like I said, only
- 19:49Speaker 1: seven snaps, you know, And I love his attitude. People
- 19:52Speaker 1: trying to get him to say all kinds of stuff
- 19:54Speaker 1: in his postgame press conference. He's like, this isn't about me,
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's about the team victory. Of course, he wants to
- 19:59Speaker 1: play more than he's playing, but that's the role he's in.
- 20:01Speaker 1: He's embracing it and making the most of his opportunities
- 20:03Speaker 1: when he's on the field. So love to see Dunlap
- 20:05Speaker 1: playing at a high level. He did not take the bait,
- 20:07Speaker 1: don't take the media bait. Watch that Carlos Dunlap interview.
- 20:11Speaker 1: He did not take the bait. What does Nick Saban say,
- 20:14Speaker 1: the rat poison stay away from you, all right, Let's
- 20:18Speaker 1: get to this wide receiver roundup. Tyler locket At eight targets,
- 20:21Speaker 1: seven catches sixty eight yards in a clinching touchdown in
- 20:24Speaker 1: the third, DK Metcalf eight targets, five catches sixty yards.
- 20:28Speaker 1: D Eskers three catches thirty five yards in his first
- 20:31Speaker 1: NFL touchdown where shot Penny had one catch for twenty
- 20:34Speaker 1: seven yards, Freddie Swain three for eighteen, Travis home On
- 20:37Speaker 1: four for ten, and Uncle Willdessie had two for seven.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Gerald every tough day at the office, but he is
- 20:41Speaker 1: going to bounce back four for seven. Penny Hard one
- 20:45Speaker 1: for minus one. Gotta get Penny Hard going to man,
- 20:47Speaker 1: imagine you just sprinkle in a little a little pit there.
- 20:49Speaker 1: There's a lot of speed on this team, right, He's
- 20:51Speaker 1: gotta find a way to sprinkle it all in. Absolutely, yeah, Penny.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I think a lot of those the Seahawks were really
- 20:56Speaker 1: trying to execute the quick screen game on the outside.
- 20:59Speaker 1: They didn't have a ton of success early on, but
- 21:01Speaker 1: what I did like was the on the Rashad Penny.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think that was the first time I've seen the
- 21:06Speaker 1: Seahawks execute an inside screen right the first time because
- 21:10Speaker 1: the defensive ends are running up fields so so much
- 21:13Speaker 1: that like, that's exactly what you do when that slows
- 21:15Speaker 1: down a pass rush, You screen, You screen, you screen.
- 21:18Speaker 1: So it was great to see the Seahawks finally execute
- 21:21Speaker 1: a screen and not be the opposite way around. So
- 21:23Speaker 1: big ups to the great call from Shane Waldron and
- 21:26Speaker 1: Rashad Penny and all those guys up front executing. Yes,
- 21:29Speaker 1: all right, let's get into the coach's corner. We're gonna
- 21:31Speaker 1: break down this play from Russell Wilson. He finds Tyler
- 21:33Speaker 1: Lockett for a twelve yard touchdown in the third quarter,
- 21:36Speaker 1: giving him the goal ahead score. Here comes the blitz.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Russell steps up, He's gonna throw one of the end zone,
- 21:41Speaker 1: got lock it in the back. He's got a touchdown, Seahawks.
- 21:45Speaker 1: And that was a perfect pass from Russell Wilson over
- 21:50Speaker 1: the shoulder, drops in the rainbow to Tyler Lockett for
- 21:54Speaker 1: twelve yards and a touchdown, and the Seahawks are rolling
- 21:59Speaker 1: right down. They take to lead man. This is there's
- 22:07Speaker 1: more to this play than people really understand. Okay, if
- 22:10Speaker 1: you just look at Tyler Lockett's alignment, he's the single
- 22:15Speaker 1: side receiver, he's tight to the tackle. What route does
- 22:18Speaker 1: Tyler Locket run? Seventy percent of the time, it's the
- 22:22Speaker 1: deep cross. So this dB who's over him is like,
- 22:24Speaker 1: look all right, I know where he's going. He's going
- 22:27Speaker 1: to d He's gonna try to cross my face and
- 22:29Speaker 1: run all the way to the other side of the
- 22:32Speaker 1: of the playing field and get the bag pylon. So
- 22:34Speaker 1: what does Tyler Locket do? Man, He sells that inside
- 22:37Speaker 1: fake so hard, so hard, and gets that guy to
- 22:40Speaker 1: jump in. What route is he really running though? He's
- 22:42Speaker 1: running a corner route? So now he has a two
- 22:44Speaker 1: point He's like, look, my typically, this alignment is gonna
- 22:47Speaker 1: tell people, or tell DB's all right, he's going back
- 22:50Speaker 1: outside because he's so close to the to the tackle.
- 22:53Speaker 1: But because of what Tyler Locket does, I guarantee this
- 22:55Speaker 1: dB is thinking deep cross. So Lockett sets him up
- 23:00Speaker 1: and leaves space for the corner. Thanks the inside release
- 23:03Speaker 1: gets north south and then breaks to the bag pineline.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Russell Wilson drops a dime over the top. There was
- 23:09Speaker 1: no Russell wasn't going anywhere else. Third and six, he
- 23:11Speaker 1: got the matchup that he wanted. He was going to
- 23:14Speaker 1: lock it. This right here is a perfect example of
- 23:17Speaker 1: this play being set up for weeks. This play has
- 23:20Speaker 1: been set up for weeks because Lockett loves to run
- 23:23Speaker 1: that deep cross absolutely and you right before the play
- 23:26Speaker 1: in the booth Palm Moire, we're all pointing at like
- 23:28Speaker 1: we know this ball is going to lock it, especially
- 23:30Speaker 1: the motion DK pre snap, and that's just to occupy
- 23:33Speaker 1: guys right and man, this corner, by the way is
- 23:36Speaker 1: Josh Norman and he just gets cooked up at the
- 23:39Speaker 1: line Instagram, which a great route and I love it too.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Like you said, he's thinking deep cross over the middle,
- 23:44Speaker 1: so it's the safety behind him. That is what you're
- 23:47Speaker 1: thinking on that side of the field, So you're gonna
- 23:49Speaker 1: even It's one of those things too, is he's so
- 23:52Speaker 1: determined he's playing inside leverage as an eb He's like, nope,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I am not getting beat inside. So when you get
- 23:58Speaker 1: when you win, Hyler tries to step him inside or
- 24:01Speaker 1: after the ball, of course he's gonna jump inside and
- 24:03Speaker 1: then put his foot in the ground. And it's actually
- 24:05Speaker 1: not even a bad recovery body Norman, but it was
- 24:08Speaker 1: a lesser quarterback. Maybe that throws not on the money,
- 24:11Speaker 1: but that's what That's what Russell and Tyler do all
- 24:14Speaker 1: day long. It's dropped that right in that bread basket
- 24:16Speaker 1: and he's stride for stride, almost in phase, but just
- 24:19Speaker 1: too slow. Those guys have a unique connection and you'd
- 24:22Speaker 1: love to see it. But yeah, man, he's a technician
- 24:24Speaker 1: running those routes. Bump. I to lock it, gotta love it.
- 24:28Speaker 1: It's time to get into the greatest formation known to man.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Haven't been in it since Halloween against Jacksonville. Victory Formation,
- 24:35Speaker 1: Let's get it. Here comes the Seahawk offense onto the
- 24:40Speaker 1: field and the Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that
- 24:44Speaker 1: one kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna wind the
- 24:48Speaker 1: clock down and women this one. It's the victory formation.
- 24:51Speaker 1: On Hawk Talk. Yes, it has been way too long.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I forgot what that open sounded like. I'm not even
- 24:58Speaker 1: gonna lie the sound. It's been too long. Thank god.
- 25:03Speaker 1: I'd to dig through the files to find it to
- 25:06Speaker 1: even loaded on the board. But man, man, happy to
- 25:09Speaker 1: be back where the Seahawks belong. Thriller at lumin field
- 25:13Speaker 1: the first wins to Talloween. As you mentioned, for the
- 25:15Speaker 1: first time in a long time, the Seahawks one time
- 25:19Speaker 1: of possession, they held the ball for thirty three minutes
- 25:22Speaker 1: and twelve seconds to the forty nine or twenty six
- 25:24Speaker 1: forty eight, and it changed the game. That's what it
- 25:28Speaker 1: felt like to possess the ball. That's what it felt
- 25:30Speaker 1: like to be in control in the second half. That's
- 25:32Speaker 1: what it felt like when you string offensive drives together.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So love to see the offense finally get into rhythm
- 25:37Speaker 1: and show some of the potential of what they could
- 25:39Speaker 1: be moving forward. They actually ran more plays than the
- 25:42Speaker 1: opposite team as well. Usually when we ran like forty
- 25:45Speaker 1: some plays last week got up to sixty eight. This
- 25:48Speaker 1: week the nine and only ran fifty six, and the
- 25:50Speaker 1: Seahawks special teams. Man, when you can get a score
- 25:52Speaker 1: in a forced turnover on special teams, you should win
- 25:55Speaker 1: that game. Your boy, Russell Wilson played his best game
- 25:58Speaker 1: since injuring his finger. Show that look, I still got this.
- 26:01Speaker 1: There's still some juice left here. Let's get it going.
- 26:04Speaker 1: It all starts and ends with Russell Wilson. But you
- 26:06Speaker 1: get contributors from special teams. That's big as well. Absolutely,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and then this is the first time all year, all
- 26:12Speaker 1: phases helped win this game through the Seahawks that only
- 26:16Speaker 1: won three games prior to that. And maybe it was
- 26:17Speaker 1: mainly the offense, mainly the defense, special teams. No, this
- 26:20Speaker 1: was a total team effort all phases of the game,
- 26:23Speaker 1: including defense, Quandry Diggs, Bobby Wagoner. Each interceptions help setting
- 26:28Speaker 1: up from scoring drives for the Seahawks. So love to
- 26:30Speaker 1: see those guys making plays, getting their hands on the ball.
- 26:32Speaker 1: And then on offense bump. We've talked about this all
- 26:35Speaker 1: year man dk Metcalfine, Tyler Lockett. For this offense to
- 26:38Speaker 1: be successful, they need to have a lot of targets.
- 26:40Speaker 1: They need to get the ball in their hands. So
- 26:42Speaker 1: they are targeted sixteen times for they had eleven receptions
- 26:44Speaker 1: among them. So if they're getting targeted between sixteen in
- 26:48Speaker 1: eighteen twenty times, I feel like the Seahawks have a
- 26:50Speaker 1: good chance of winning that ball game. Yeah. My number
- 26:52Speaker 1: for those dudes are a to pas at least eight
- 26:54Speaker 1: and piece. They need to be targeted and once to
- 26:57Speaker 1: get this defense man, they just bow up, bow up
- 27:00Speaker 1: second week in a roll down on the goal line
- 27:02Speaker 1: to give these guys a chance where they won the
- 27:04Speaker 1: game this week and gave the Hawks a chance to
- 27:06Speaker 1: win the game last week. This defense continues to get better.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Carlos Dunlap seven plays, one sack, pass defended. I mean
- 27:14Speaker 1: that's those are the type of things you need to happen.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I don't care how many players are out there, just
- 27:18Speaker 1: make an impact and do your job. Find a way
- 27:20Speaker 1: to win. Absolutely love to see it, Carlos sun Lap.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Maybe the Seahawks will have would continue to have success
- 27:25Speaker 1: on first and second down, which means you we'll see
- 27:27Speaker 1: a little bit more of Carlos Dunlap on third downs
- 27:29Speaker 1: in obvious passing situations. So love it. The Seahawks found
- 27:32Speaker 1: a way to go one to know and have a
- 27:34Speaker 1: chance to go on a little run. We're facing the
- 27:36Speaker 1: two in ten Houston, Texans, so we'll we dive into
- 27:39Speaker 1: those guys later this week. Bump. But like we've talked about, man,
- 27:43Speaker 1: just happy the Seahawks are back on the winning ways.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Hopefully they can spark a run and we can keep
- 27:47Speaker 1: talking about wins moving forward. I'm all, looks get it done, baby.
- 27:51Speaker 1: That's Hawk Talk Recap edition. The Seahawks beat the forty
- 27:54Speaker 1: nine is thirty to twenty three at home. M. Michael
- 27:57Speaker 1: Bump is he is? NASA Choby, Thanks holl Nadas. Talk
- 28:00Speaker 1: to you so, M.
