- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast presented by BET three
- 0:12Speaker 1: six y five. We are part of the Volume Podcast Network.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I am Chad Millman or the Action Network, and I'm
- 0:18Speaker 1: joined as always by my cost my companion Mike Campadre
- 0:22Speaker 1: might befa professional better Sigmon Hunter.
- 0:24Speaker 2: And also I'm in Chad. How are we doing?
- 0:28Speaker 1: I think you know because of where we spent the
- 0:33Speaker 1: weekend that I love a few things more than the
- 0:37Speaker 1: city of Chicago. And today we have a staple of
- 0:43Speaker 1: the Chicago sports scene, who, like so many people from Chicago,
- 0:48Speaker 1: has gone on to incredible heights higher than the Willits
- 0:54Speaker 1: Tower in his career because Chicago sports fans are so
- 0:57Speaker 1: good at turning their fandom him into content and turning
- 1:01Speaker 1: that content into gold. He has now launched into the
- 1:06Speaker 1: nationally prominent role at Fox Sports. You can catch his
- 1:11Speaker 1: beautiful face every morning on Breakfast Ball on FS one,
- 1:16Speaker 1: one of the Windy City's very finest. Welcome back to
- 1:18Speaker 1: the program, Danny parkins, my.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Brother, guys, thank you so much for having me on.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It's the Sears Tower forever. You said beautiful face, so
- 1:30Speaker 3: I know you're lying, but.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Thrill watches this, so it doesn't matter.
- 1:35Speaker 3: That's true, thank you. And yeah it is true about
- 1:40Speaker 3: Chicago sports fans. They're the best and the content, if
- 1:44Speaker 3: not the winning, they forgot the winning part. But the
- 1:47Speaker 3: content that the teams generate is world class. And the
- 1:50Speaker 3: city is of course as well. What's going on? Boys?
- 1:52Speaker 1: So we had an event, a live event with listeners.
- 1:56Speaker 1: A few hundred people showed up to Jo's on Weed. Oh, classic, classic, right,
- 2:02Speaker 1: just the best. Every single person when I would mention
- 2:05Speaker 1: we're doing an event at Joe's on Weed, if they
- 2:07Speaker 1: have any connection to Chicago, they'd be like, just the best,
- 2:10Speaker 1: like they've seen.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I got hammered with the old CFO of my company
- 2:14Speaker 3: at a holiday party at Joe at Joe's on Weed.
- 2:17Speaker 3: That was a good time. It also is just like
- 2:23Speaker 3: the bar name lends itself to a good time, but
- 2:27Speaker 3: there is really Weed Street. But they they they lean
- 2:30Speaker 3: into it in every way. Big bar, dive bar, reasonably
- 2:34Speaker 3: priced drinks, the ability for live entertainment. Yeah, very very
- 2:39Speaker 3: very good spot. Seeing some some good music. There, had
- 2:42Speaker 3: some nights that you forget there. It's it's a good time,
- 2:45Speaker 3: very good.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Simon Simon had a night he forgot there. Simon Simon
- 2:50Speaker 1: disappeared probably about two hours before I thought he would disappear.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Do you remember why you disappeared?
- 2:58Speaker 2: Uh? For a woman, But I told you I'm not
- 3:01Speaker 2: a huge drinker, and I literally woke up, went out
- 3:03Speaker 2: of clients, drink mimosas, and then we started boozing that
- 3:06Speaker 2: I don't even know if not we I should say
- 3:08Speaker 2: me like one thirty at this party. Parties start till
- 3:11Speaker 2: four thirty. By the time it hit eight nine o'clock,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I was like, okay, I'm about to start saying things
- 3:15Speaker 2: that I can't say at a company event. So I
- 3:19Speaker 2: made the right move. I got out there at the
- 3:20Speaker 2: right time. I did the I Love you guys on stage,
- 3:22Speaker 2: and then I just disappeared into the.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Crowd, a little irish exit by Simon. I respect that.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It was an irish so On Friday night, Danny Simon
- 3:29Speaker 1: wanted to go to the White Sox game, and you
- 3:32Speaker 1: know you're the one we told him that would be
- 3:35Speaker 1: a terrible idea. I told you might as well go
- 3:37Speaker 1: to Northern Indiana on the coldest day of the year.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Were we too harsh?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Well, I mean the food is great, That's what I
- 3:45Speaker 3: want to know.
- 3:46Speaker 2: For exactly thank you.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Yeah, the food is great. The craft beer selection is fantastic.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Uh.
- 3:52Speaker 3: You know, my guys out in the one o eight
- 3:53Speaker 3: are really cool. Socks fans are a good time, you know.
- 4:00Speaker 3: So all listen. I could think of worse things to do,
- 4:03Speaker 3: but let's put it this way. I've got a few
- 4:06Speaker 3: weekends already booked to go back to Chicago this summer,
- 4:09Speaker 3: and the White Sox are not on my agenda. So
- 4:13Speaker 3: you know, I could think of other things that I
- 4:16Speaker 3: would do, but if you know, I'm not gonna yuck
- 4:19Speaker 3: your yum. Some people like chocolate, some people like vanilla.
- 4:21Speaker 3: There's nothing wrong with it, fair enough, all right.
- 4:24Speaker 2: As the Flowers, Chad, they're two and two. It was
- 4:27Speaker 2: zero and five.
- 4:27Speaker 3: There they are two and two. They are pacing to
- 4:30Speaker 3: not be the worst team in the history of baseball.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Again, Yeah, that's good for them. As a reminder of
- 4:35Speaker 1: the Favorite podcast is presented by Bet three six five

- 4:46Speaker 1: fifty dollars and bonus bets. Those bonus bets can be
- 4:49Speaker 1: used on spreads, total player props, futures and more, whatever
- 4:52Speaker 1: the moment. It's never ordinary. A bet three six five

- 4:58Speaker 1: North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or eighteen and
- 5:02Speaker 1: older in Kentucky. Gambling problem called one eight hundred gambler
- 5:06Speaker 1: or one eight hundred bets off in Iowa terms. Conditions
- 5:08Speaker 1: restrictions apply. All right, Danny Yad, you're a man who
- 5:13Speaker 1: knows his way around the world of betting. You and
- 5:16Speaker 1: I first connected, I think seven eight years ago now
- 5:19Speaker 1: when we were talking betting on various radio shows during
- 5:24Speaker 1: NFL playoffs. You immediately struck me as someone who knew
- 5:28Speaker 1: the language and it was not doing this because, oh,
- 5:31Speaker 1: betting was the way to get famous. We had Chris
- 5:34Speaker 1: Filika on the show the other day and we were
- 5:35Speaker 1: talking about like how things have changed. And for about
- 5:38Speaker 1: two or three years it was just full of people
- 5:40Speaker 1: who want to talk betting to get famous. You come
- 5:43Speaker 1: by it naturally. Yeah, last year. Last year NFL rules changes.
- 5:49Speaker 1: They moved the kickoff kickoff if it wasn't if it
- 5:53Speaker 1: was a touchback, went to the thirty new rule change
- 5:55Speaker 1: as of this week, it goes to the thirty five,
- 5:58Speaker 1: hoping to get more kickoff returns into the game. It's
- 6:04Speaker 1: really a you know, it's quite a penalty there to
- 6:08Speaker 1: get to the thirty five. I felt like going to
- 6:11Speaker 1: the thirty had a huge impact on betting. Do you
- 6:13Speaker 1: feel like a thirty five yard line will have a
- 6:16Speaker 1: huge impact on betting?
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I am in favor just from a
- 6:22Speaker 3: watchability standpoint of figuring out ways to get in more
- 6:25Speaker 3: returns into the game. So I think the thrust of
- 6:28Speaker 3: it is good. But it was you know, with how
- 6:33Speaker 3: hot the kickers started last year in the NFL. You
- 6:37Speaker 3: could get a touchback to the thirty, get two or
- 6:40Speaker 3: three first downs, and then Brandon Aubrey was banging field
- 6:43Speaker 3: goals through fifty five fifty seven yards like it was nothing,
- 6:46Speaker 3: and it was you know, like obviously that makes the
- 6:49Speaker 3: totals go up, and that's a place where you can
- 6:52Speaker 3: see it. You know, you could put more of a
- 6:53Speaker 3: value on teams with strong kickers. I advocated for the
- 6:57Speaker 3: Arena League actually, and like the narrowing of the uprights
- 7:00Speaker 3: because that was like the unintended consequence that I just
- 7:02Speaker 3: didn't like about it was that it made it felt
- 7:05Speaker 3: like it made the goal was to make kickers less impactful,
- 7:07Speaker 3: to make for more returns and exciting plays on special teams,
- 7:10Speaker 3: but it made them matter more because we saw more
- 7:13Speaker 3: field goal attempts, and we saw more long field goal attempts,
- 7:16Speaker 3: and I'm just not interested in that at all, both
- 7:19Speaker 3: from a gambling perspective and a watching the game perspective,
- 7:22Speaker 3: Like if I play fantasy football, I want to play
- 7:24Speaker 3: in leagues that don't have kickers because it just is
- 7:27Speaker 3: just not a part. It's not a fun part of
- 7:29Speaker 3: the game for me. So I do think that anything
- 7:33Speaker 3: that you know is an advantage to the offense, especially
- 7:36Speaker 3: with how kickers are performing nowadays. It's a thing that
- 7:41Speaker 3: will get baked in to the totals probably and it'll
- 7:44Speaker 3: make the expected points in the game go up.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Simon, I think this plays to our advantage.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I do.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I feel like I was already leaning towards regression, meaning
- 7:58Speaker 1: last year was such a heavy favorite team year, we
- 8:00Speaker 1: were worried that could this be a sea change. I
- 8:05Speaker 1: don't think so anymore. As I've been doing some off
- 8:08Speaker 1: season work, I'm starting to think more and more that
- 8:10Speaker 1: this will regress back, and this could have been an anomaly.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And I actually think this plays to our advantage because
- 8:17Speaker 1: I do think there will be more returns and few
- 8:19Speaker 1: and fewer teams who are putting themselves in a position
- 8:22Speaker 1: to have to defend offenses that are starting at the
- 8:26Speaker 1: thirty five yard line.
- 8:28Speaker 2: And that's the biggest issue chat is that I'm honestly
- 8:30Speaker 2: going the other way. I think it might be more talky.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I just think they did the wrong thing. They should
- 8:36Speaker 2: have pushed it back five yards. I'm moving up another
- 8:38Speaker 2: five because it's like we talked about, all right, a
- 8:40Speaker 2: team gets about the thirty five, right, they get a
- 8:43Speaker 2: first down. Let's say they pick up twelve yards, so
- 8:46Speaker 2: now they're three yards away, four yards away from the fifty.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's just gonna it's completely changing the game. If you
- 8:52Speaker 2: have a quarterback like Jane Daniels, like you know my
- 8:55Speaker 2: Homes whoever, You're gonna keep going for on the fourth
- 8:57Speaker 2: downs if you're at midfield because it's just worth the risk, right,
- 9:00Speaker 2: And we already talked about it. These teams with these
- 9:02Speaker 2: great quarterbacks, they're happy to trade fourth down failures for
- 9:06Speaker 2: their team kicking threes right, the other team gets the
- 9:08Speaker 2: ball the midfield, the kick a field goal. That's a
- 9:10Speaker 2: win for them, Like they're gonna get the ball back
- 9:12Speaker 2: and they might get it back again at the thirty five.
- 9:14Speaker 2: So to me, I'm gonna be really busy the next
- 9:17Speaker 2: two three days check because a a lot of books
- 9:19Speaker 2: have already put out there. They're basically divisional odds. I'm
- 9:23Speaker 2: gonna be taking heavy positions on favorites like the Bills,
- 9:26Speaker 2: the Chiefs, the Houston, these teams that you know, we
- 9:29Speaker 2: already think they're the best in the division. These these
- 9:32Speaker 2: to me, this kickoff only helps those teams that have
- 9:35Speaker 2: the great quarterbacks versus the teams that do not like
- 9:38Speaker 2: the difference to these quarterbacks. Now we've seen it now
- 9:40Speaker 2: like we had the date after last year's season, these
- 9:43Speaker 2: teams were just so willing to go for I mean,
- 9:45Speaker 2: I can't tell you how many times teams won for
- 9:46Speaker 2: a chat on their own forty, on their own thirty
- 9:48Speaker 2: eight when they're winning, Like we never seen that in
- 9:51Speaker 2: the history of football. We saw the multiple times happen
- 9:54Speaker 2: last year, it's going to be even more extreme to me.
- 9:56Speaker 2: So yeah, very very unique time perer living in right now.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Check because they're just doing these little little rule changes.
- 10:03Speaker 2: But it's becoming a big deal for someone like me
- 10:05Speaker 2: and you that we love betting dogs. I fucking hate
- 10:08Speaker 2: betting favorites, and we have to bet favorites. I'm telling you,
- 10:10Speaker 2: we just we're gonna have to suck it up, brother
- 10:12Speaker 2: and just bet favorites.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I think that's such an old school thought though, Like
- 10:15Speaker 3: I hate betting favorites. Why if they win, just like
- 10:20Speaker 3: you just have to know the trend right Like it
- 10:22Speaker 3: used it used to be that it was fun to
- 10:24Speaker 3: bet dogs because you know, if if your premise holds right,
- 10:28Speaker 3: Like I, I don't care what side I'm on as
- 10:30Speaker 3: long as I think it's the winning side. Like if
- 10:33Speaker 3: the value is in laying six because the spread should
- 10:35Speaker 3: be seven and a half, I have no problem with that.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Like I think, like you know, it used to be
- 10:40Speaker 3: like Scott van Pelt was like fade the public, and like, sure,
- 10:43Speaker 3: that's a good idea in the aggregate, like bet underdog. Sure,
- 10:47Speaker 3: But I think to your point, maybe that's not gonna
- 10:51Speaker 3: be the case for the next five years. I certainly
- 10:53Speaker 3: wish that I had had more chalky picks in my
- 10:56Speaker 3: NCAA tournament survivor pools and my brackets, you know what
- 10:59Speaker 3: I mean, Like there's something too recognizing where the trend
- 11:04Speaker 3: is going, Like it's an obvious point, Like I know
- 11:06Speaker 3: this is what you're talking about, but like what's happened
- 11:08Speaker 3: in college basketball right now with the nil money being
- 11:11Speaker 3: spread out amongst the Power five schools, so the smaller
- 11:14Speaker 3: schools just don't have the money to keep the players.
- 11:17Speaker 3: It makes perfect sense that this would be a year
- 11:19Speaker 3: where the SEC and the Big ten in conferences like
- 11:21Speaker 3: that would dominate and advance their teams. And so I
- 11:25Speaker 3: wish that I had thought of that and like taking
- 11:27Speaker 3: a harder position on it. But you know, Houston's done
- 11:31Speaker 3: well for me, and like, you know, I'm doing okay,
- 11:33Speaker 3: but it's I am not as beholden to like the
- 11:39Speaker 3: smart play is backing the underdog. I'm not sure the
- 11:43Speaker 3: smart play is to know where the trend of the
- 11:44Speaker 3: sport is going. Because I had a great year in
- 11:47Speaker 3: the NFL last year, like sixty five percent on the show,
- 11:50Speaker 3: and people would my mentions like gambling Twitter was in
- 11:52Speaker 3: my mentions, Oh, you're laying the wood on three favorites
- 11:55Speaker 3: in week fourteen, And then I'm like, yeah, have you
- 11:58Speaker 3: seen how the season's been going? And then I'd go
- 12:00Speaker 3: three and oh, and then of course it's crickets. Like
- 12:03Speaker 3: I just I think you gotta be nimble with that,
- 12:05Speaker 3: with that sort of thinking, and if you're right and
- 12:08Speaker 3: there's edge here on if favorites being undervalued again, I
- 12:13Speaker 3: wouldn't hate it, I'd cash it.
- 12:16Speaker 2: But that's that's the problem though, it's not I mean,
- 12:18Speaker 2: you know, Danny, it's not this easy, like that's that's
- 12:20Speaker 2: the show. Like I'm in line at the book. The
- 12:22Speaker 2: guy in front of me is like, yeah, I got
- 12:24Speaker 2: the Ravens this week, I got the Eagles, I got
- 12:26Speaker 2: the Bills, and I got you know, the Chiefs. All right.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Back in the day, that guy would be lucky to
- 12:31Speaker 2: go to and two. He was going four and oh
- 12:33Speaker 2: every other week Like that does not happen on the spread.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Like usually the books catch up to those guys, so
- 12:38Speaker 2: they know the public's gonna bet those high teams. But
- 12:40Speaker 2: like the books gonna catch up to it, neither could
- 12:42Speaker 2: me and Chat. Because Me and Chat have made a
- 12:44Speaker 2: living betting on the Panthers. We made a living betting
- 12:47Speaker 2: on the Raiders. Like these teams that suck with bad quarterbacks,
- 12:50Speaker 2: But like you just talked about, the game has changed
- 12:52Speaker 2: so much because these teams now are just like, fuck it,
- 12:55Speaker 2: we'll go for it on fourth down on our own
- 12:56Speaker 2: forty because if we fail here, we'll stop them. They'll
- 12:59Speaker 2: kick a three, we'll get back, We'll go get drive
- 13:00Speaker 2: the field, get another seven. Like it's just totally changed.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I'm with you, it's just I'm trying to catch up
- 13:06Speaker 2: to it because I don't mind betting favorites. It's just tough.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Me and you have to give five picks every week,
- 13:10Speaker 2: and the weeks we picked four favorites to one dog
- 13:13Speaker 2: Me and Chad both feels sick to our stomach, even
- 13:15Speaker 2: if it does win. It just feels unnatural to us
- 13:17Speaker 2: because we've both been doing this for for fifteen years
- 13:19Speaker 2: and we're just.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Trust me, trust me, I feel you, but go four
- 13:27Speaker 3: and one on your favorites. I don't give them.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Look historically, historically you want to be on the same
- 13:34Speaker 1: side as the sports book. That to me, is where
- 13:39Speaker 1: we ultimately want to end up. It's hard to be
- 13:42Speaker 1: on the same side as the sports book when the
- 13:46Speaker 1: sportsbook doesn't want to be on the side of the favorites,
- 13:48Speaker 1: because that means that everybody is on the same side, right,
- 13:52Speaker 1: And so how do we reconcile going into a year
- 13:57Speaker 1: where we want to be ahead of the tend also
- 14:01Speaker 1: knowing that there's been one or two years in the
- 14:04Speaker 1: history of sports betting against the spread where like you,
- 14:09Speaker 1: you haven't won if you were on the same side
- 14:12Speaker 1: at the sportsbook. I think that's the bigger sort of
- 14:16Speaker 1: mind meld that we have to get into.
- 14:20Speaker 3: I think that's right. I just you know, you don't
- 14:22Speaker 3: know what the trend is going to be at the
- 14:24Speaker 3: beginning of the year, and trends can change and all
- 14:27Speaker 3: of that. So you know, put your numbers out and
- 14:31Speaker 3: then if you if you again, if you if you
- 14:33Speaker 3: think it should be seven and a half and it's six,
- 14:36Speaker 3: lay the six. You know, if you if you think
- 14:39Speaker 3: it's it should be four and a half and it's six,
- 14:44Speaker 3: take the plus six like it's it's a It's the
- 14:47Speaker 3: simplest I think that, like going in with a completely
- 14:50Speaker 3: overarching strategies, you know, you want to have positions, you
- 14:53Speaker 3: want to have beliefs. You want to believe in teams,
- 14:58Speaker 3: but you also got to just like watch the games
- 15:01Speaker 3: and trust your eyes, like and like adapt to it quickly,
- 15:04Speaker 3: like if you would if you caught on early last
- 15:07Speaker 3: year with Washington, You're like, oh, yeah, this is real,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Like this isn't flukey, Like you can you can snipe
- 15:13Speaker 3: some opportunity in that spot. So I don't know what
- 15:16Speaker 3: the story of this year will be. I doubt it
- 15:18Speaker 3: will be favorites again to your point, but there will
- 15:22Speaker 3: be some team out there that covers as a favorite
- 15:24Speaker 3: a bunch, and there will be some team out there
- 15:25Speaker 3: that covers as a dog a bunch like, so like
- 15:27Speaker 3: it's not you know what I mean, it's not You
- 15:29Speaker 3: don't have to be like I am on team fade
- 15:31Speaker 3: the public, or I am on team Favorite, or I'm
- 15:33Speaker 3: on team underdog. Like I think that there are within
- 15:35Speaker 3: the course of a of a season, a team, a
- 15:39Speaker 3: stretch of time, there are just opportunities out there. But
- 15:44Speaker 3: it's obviously, listen, betting the NFL is the hardest thing
- 15:47Speaker 3: to do. It's the sharpest thing in the world. So
- 15:49Speaker 3: it's very, very very difficult to just literally, to use
- 15:55Speaker 3: your phrase, make a living like I don't know if
- 15:57Speaker 3: you're being accurate or not, like, but like, you know what,
- 15:59Speaker 3: I mean, to actually like make a living betting the
- 16:02Speaker 3: NFL exclusively is almost impossible.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So now you've got a big time TV job.
- 16:10Speaker 3: I do not make it a living betting the NFL.
- 16:12Speaker 1: That's right, Because you've got a big time TV job.
- 16:14Speaker 1: You can't give that up. When you were in Chicago
- 16:16Speaker 1: doing Chicago radio, it was to me the most natural fit,
- 16:22Speaker 1: like a Chicago guy who loves Chicago, loves Chicago sports.
- 16:29Speaker 1: How do you go through the process, deciding process of deciding,
- 16:33Speaker 1: all right, I'm going to take my shot, I'm going
- 16:35Speaker 1: to move, I'm going to take my family. We're going
- 16:38Speaker 1: to leave this very comfortable life where you can make
- 16:41Speaker 1: a very good living for a very long time to
- 16:44Speaker 1: go on TV and have to talk about everybody.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I wasn't worried about the talking about everybody thing. Like
- 16:51Speaker 3: I think that that's like way overstated from outside of
- 16:56Speaker 3: the industry. Like obviously I miss some of the subject
- 17:00Speaker 3: matter of the radio show, but I didn't like some
- 17:03Speaker 3: of the subject matter of the radio show too, Like
- 17:05Speaker 3: talking about a bad baseball team in June is not fun.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I'd rather talk NBA playoffs, and I'd rather talk NFL transactions,
- 17:16Speaker 3: and you know what I mean, that sort of thing.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So like the subject matter, Yeah, I wish I could
- 17:20Speaker 3: do more Bears, but I do some Bears, and I
- 17:23Speaker 3: have other outlets for that sort of thing. That that
- 17:25Speaker 3: that piece of it was not even a factor at all.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I like new challenges. This was very unexpected, the TV situation,
- 17:35Speaker 3: Like I thought I was going to do afternoons in
- 17:37Speaker 3: Chicago for forever. To your point, I was making a
- 17:39Speaker 3: good living and I would have been happy there. But
- 17:42Speaker 3: there's also just man, there's the there's the brass tacks
- 17:44Speaker 3: of I have a five year old and assume to
- 17:47Speaker 3: be three year old, and I like taking nice vacations
- 17:50Speaker 3: and playing golf at expensive golf courses. Like the radio world,
- 17:56Speaker 3: like all of this stuff is changing and in many
- 17:59Speaker 3: cases shrinking, And so I had to be honest with
- 18:03Speaker 3: myself of like, in five years, am I making more
- 18:10Speaker 3: money and bigger, making the same amount of money and
- 18:15Speaker 3: as relevant or making less money and less relevant if
- 18:18Speaker 3: I stayed at my current spot versus going on national
- 18:24Speaker 3: TV obviously making more money and being less relevant in
- 18:30Speaker 3: one place but more relevant in everywhere else. And it
- 18:36Speaker 3: was a pretty obvious decision when you just put it
- 18:39Speaker 3: through the calculus of like, my job is to provide
- 18:42Speaker 3: for my family. So it was, you know, there are
- 18:46Speaker 3: things that I miss about radio. I I'll do hits
- 18:50Speaker 3: on the Score. I'm hosting my radio thon on the
- 18:53Speaker 3: Score this summer. I still have great relationships with all
- 18:55Speaker 3: the people there. I filled in for mad Dog on
- 18:59Speaker 3: Mad Dog Sports Radio. When we do that again this summer,
- 19:02Speaker 3: you know, so I still get to scratch the radio itch.
- 19:04Speaker 3: And who knows where my career goes or where the
- 19:07Speaker 3: industry goes. But I mean, just on like the brass
- 19:12Speaker 3: tacks of the bottom line, it was it was not
- 19:18Speaker 3: a difficult decision.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Do you feel like the relevance has changed? Can you
- 19:26Speaker 1: Is there a tangible feeling from being on television on
- 19:29Speaker 1: FS one that you experience on a daily basis? That
- 19:33Speaker 1: is is it social media? Is it people stopping on
- 19:35Speaker 1: the street? How does it? What does it look like?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Well, I mean, like I'm so new to TV compared
- 19:40Speaker 3: to radio that like, you know, I definitely get like
- 19:42Speaker 3: stopped on the street more in Chicago than I do
- 19:44Speaker 3: in New York City, just based on like years of
- 19:47Speaker 3: time spent and like the consolidation of your audience in
- 19:51Speaker 3: one place versus now it's in so many different places
- 19:53Speaker 3: and so consumed on digital and all of that. But like,
- 19:57Speaker 3: but Nick Wright gets stopped in one hundred countries, you
- 20:01Speaker 3: know what I mean. Like, so like there's a there's
- 20:03Speaker 3: a there's a pathway to that part. But again, I'm
- 20:06Speaker 3: happy to sit at home and play golf and like
- 20:09Speaker 3: that's not that doesn't really do it for me, but
- 20:11Speaker 3: like that you definitely feel listen, radio is super personal.
- 20:16Speaker 3: You're in people's cars. It's like very like one on one.
- 20:20Speaker 3: You know, I can talk about my kids, I can
- 20:21Speaker 3: talk about embarrassing failures around the house. Like they know
- 20:25Speaker 3: you better in radio then they will ever know you
- 20:30Speaker 3: more personal level on television. And so like that connection
- 20:35Speaker 3: is definitely something that I miss. And in radio, we
- 20:38Speaker 3: had a text line, you know, so like a live,
- 20:42Speaker 3: interactive text chat with your audience that is absolutely not
- 20:48Speaker 3: something that exists on television. So yes, like if you
- 20:50Speaker 3: want to get a thought to me on my sports
- 20:53Speaker 3: take on television, you've got to be watching it live
- 20:57Speaker 3: and then tweet to me. And I have to check
- 21:00Speaker 3: my mentions in a commercial break. It is three and
- 21:05Speaker 3: a half minutes when I'm getting ready for the next segment,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and I'm sitting next to Marshal Earth and Craig Carton,
- 21:09Speaker 3: and I got a producer in my ear, and I
- 21:10Speaker 3: got makeups being touched with you know what I mean,
- 21:12Speaker 3: I am not really interacting with an audience while live
- 21:15Speaker 3: on television. As you can choose how much you want
- 21:20Speaker 3: to like consume the feedback to TV. It's like they
- 21:24Speaker 3: post clips on Instagram and Twitter and TikTok or wherever,
- 21:28Speaker 3: like and if I if I opt in to the
- 21:31Speaker 3: feedback by reading the comments, then I can get some
- 21:35Speaker 3: of it. But like it's also a lot easier to
- 21:37Speaker 3: remove yourself from the critique and feedback of your content
- 21:44Speaker 3: on television, which is like pretty healthy, honestly. So I
- 21:49Speaker 3: again to be clear, I'm talking about both sides of
- 21:51Speaker 3: my mouth. Like I miss some of the relevancy and
- 21:55Speaker 3: the live interaction and the live feedback of radio. It's
- 21:57Speaker 3: exhilarating where it's like you're getting live feedback where people
- 22:01Speaker 3: are making jokes, participating with your topics and like participating
- 22:06Speaker 3: in it and building Like that's the beauty of radio.
- 22:11Speaker 3: So that is not something that exists on television, obviously,
- 22:14Speaker 3: but it's a lot healthier to just like, here's the topic,
- 22:19Speaker 3: here's the topic, prepare for the topic, do the best
- 22:22Speaker 3: job you can on the topic, and then keep it
- 22:25Speaker 3: moving Like that is a much healthier way to interact
- 22:29Speaker 3: with feedback because then the majority of the feedback that
- 22:32Speaker 3: you do get in real life is someone coming up
- 22:34Speaker 3: to you on the street and being like, hey, what's up, man?
- 22:37Speaker 3: I love the show, love your work. Can I get
- 22:38Speaker 3: a picture as opposed to some of the crazy negative
- 22:41Speaker 3: shit that you'll get on social media, which, to be clear,
- 22:44Speaker 3: I still get I get a lot of it, but
- 22:47Speaker 3: you have to. If you get it, you're seeking it out,
- 22:52Speaker 3: and so then it's like, well, you can't let it
- 22:53Speaker 3: bother you. I seeked it out. If I didn't want it,
- 22:55Speaker 3: I could just ignore it. So I hope that answered
- 22:58Speaker 3: your question. But it's very different.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's fascinating, and you're right about the radio stuff.
- 23:04Speaker 1: There is an intimacy there.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Oh it's the best.
- 23:08Speaker 1: It's going for so much longer. You've got to fill
- 23:10Speaker 1: so much time. Your tone is different, it's not as
- 23:14Speaker 1: performative as television.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, there's something not as performative, I think is like
- 23:20Speaker 3: a negative connetition. There's definitely a performance to television, no doubt.
- 23:23Speaker 3: I would say that there's a performance to good radio also,
- 23:28Speaker 3: But it's it's just you've got four hours a day,
- 23:35Speaker 3: five days a week local radio, especially Bears, Cubs, Bulls,
- 23:42Speaker 3: White Socks, issues that affect Chicago are your main subject matters.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But some days it's like, all right, it's May nineteenth.
- 23:51Speaker 3: The Cubs are two games over five hundred, the White
- 23:54Speaker 3: Sox are nine games on there, the Bears haven't done anything,
- 23:58Speaker 3: the Bulls and the Blackhawks are eliminated, and it's like,
- 24:02Speaker 3: let's tell a story about parenting, you know what I mean,
- 24:05Speaker 3: and just try to be funny and relatable. Or let's
- 24:08Speaker 3: talk to your producer about his new girlfriend. Or the
- 24:12Speaker 3: way to make a perfect steak and how he taught
- 24:14Speaker 3: me how to use a cast iron and then I
- 24:16Speaker 3: washed it with soap and he took the cast iron
- 24:19Speaker 3: that he gave me back, like because I had, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 3: desecrated the art of the cast iron. Or how I
- 24:24Speaker 3: had my nanny push my car out of the snow
- 24:27Speaker 3: because she was stronger than me, like you know what
- 24:29Speaker 3: I mean, Like I can't get these stories off on TV,
- 24:33Speaker 3: and so that it's the it's the it's the personal
- 24:36Speaker 3: nature of talking about your brother with brain cancer, talking
- 24:40Speaker 3: about your new child, talking about the stupid argument you
- 24:45Speaker 3: got in with your wife, like all of that is
- 24:47Speaker 3: super relevant on radio and in some ways in podcasting,
- 24:53Speaker 3: and there's just no lane for it when we're talking
- 24:56Speaker 3: about where Aaron Rodgers's next team is going to be.
- 25:00Speaker 3: I do I do miss that, to be clear, but
- 25:03Speaker 3: it's I don't miss it enough to like be like
- 25:06Speaker 3: I took the wrong job, like I you know what
- 25:08Speaker 3: I mean, I'm fine. I'm fine with that. The way
- 25:11Speaker 3: is something that is different.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Do you have an opinion on where Aaron Rodgers should
- 25:16Speaker 1: go at this point, it's it's basically the Steelers are nothing.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I said the Steelers at the you know,
- 25:22Speaker 3: with like a week to go in the regular season,
- 25:25Speaker 3: because my whole thing on Rogers was he just dominates
- 25:30Speaker 3: the news cycle so much that it's exhausting talking about
- 25:37Speaker 3: him if he's on a bad team. And apparently it's
- 25:39Speaker 3: impossible for the Steelers to be bad, like they can't
- 25:42Speaker 3: win in the playoffs, but at least they will play
- 25:44Speaker 3: games that are on Monday night, Sunday night, Thursday night,
- 25:47Speaker 3: and they will win more than fifty percent of them
- 25:49Speaker 3: because Mike Tomins never had a losing year and so
- 25:51Speaker 3: at least you can like justify talking about Aaron Rodgers
- 25:54Speaker 3: and Mike Tomlin. It will be interesting, like the Jets
- 25:57Speaker 3: stopped being interesting in Week four. And so the Steelers, Okay,
- 26:02Speaker 3: we'll get two games against Burrow, we'll get two games
- 26:04Speaker 3: against Lamar. He'll go to Chicago to play the Bears.
- 26:08Speaker 3: The Packers will go to Pittsburgh. Like Aaron Rodgers and
- 26:11Speaker 3: the Steelers will be worth our collective attention and oxygen
- 26:15Speaker 3: if he's in Pittsburgh. And it was, I mean, it
- 26:19Speaker 3: was just such a waste of time with all the
- 26:22Speaker 3: amount of time we spent talking about the guy with
- 26:24Speaker 3: the injured season and then five wins last year that
- 26:27Speaker 3: I kind of like grew to resent it. So Pittsburgh
- 26:31Speaker 3: is where I want him to go because I know
- 26:32Speaker 3: as long as he's playing, we're gonna be talking about him.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Have you come to a consensus on the Chicago Bears
- 26:42Speaker 1: winning the offseason and what that means for the.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Third straight year, by the way, for this was the
- 26:50Speaker 3: you know they talked about the Chiefs not being able
- 26:52Speaker 3: to three peat. There's an active three peat there is.
- 26:55Speaker 1: It's pretty impressive.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Actually, thank you.
- 26:57Speaker 1: When we were in Chicago, you know so many Bears fans,
- 27:02Speaker 1: and every single conversation I had was we won the
- 27:06Speaker 1: off season. And I'm like, you know what, we won
- 27:09Speaker 1: the off season When two years ago I bet him
- 27:14Speaker 1: at fifty to one to win the Super Bowl it
- 27:16Speaker 1: got down to twenty to one. I'm like, I am
- 27:19Speaker 1: so ahead of the market. This is our year, DJ
- 27:23Speaker 1: Moore is the exact solution for Justin Fields. Didn't happen
- 27:28Speaker 1: last year. I didn't get ahead of it. I did
- 27:31Speaker 1: not bet the Bears over eight and a half wins.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I was never disappointed because I had very low expectations.
- 27:38Speaker 1: This year, I'm trying really hard. I am like, really
- 27:42Speaker 1: trying to be the smart, thoughtful Bears fan who doesn't
- 27:46Speaker 1: get ahead and believes that all of a sudden we
- 27:48Speaker 1: fixed everything because we spent money on a coach.
- 27:52Speaker 3: What kind of way is that to live? You know
- 27:55Speaker 3: it's out listen for gambling purposes. That's totally fine, and
- 28:00Speaker 3: this is a gambling podcast. So faith fading Bears optimism
- 28:05Speaker 3: is a very profitable strategy historically, so I have So
- 28:09Speaker 3: from that standpoint, I want to be very clear I
- 28:12Speaker 3: support fading Bears optimism, like feel free to take your unders,
- 28:19Speaker 3: but like man, life is too short to not believe
- 28:22Speaker 3: that the next solution could be the one that's dumb.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Like I wanted the Bears to draft to Sean Watson,
- 28:29Speaker 3: they drafted Mitch Trubisky. We ended up both being wrong.
- 28:32Speaker 3: They should have taken Patrick Mahomes. Yes, then I wanted
- 28:37Speaker 3: them to trade up for Justin Fields. I supported that trade.
- 28:41Speaker 3: I had. I threw a QB one party celebrating the
- 28:44Speaker 3: arrival of the Bears having a franchise quarterback after he
- 28:47Speaker 3: had one hundred and seventy five rushing yards against the Dolphins.
- 28:50Speaker 3: That was a very exciting game. In hindsight, I should
- 28:53Speaker 3: have been a little bit more measured because it was
- 28:55Speaker 3: a rushing performance passing performance. But like what if you
- 29:00Speaker 3: then be like, well, I can't fall for Caleb Williams
- 29:03Speaker 3: because of Mitch Trubisky and Justin Fields. It's like, well
- 29:06Speaker 3: that's boring. That's then you're defeated. Then you may as
- 29:10Speaker 3: well go be a you know, go go be a
- 29:14Speaker 3: Lions fan, Go go go be a commander's fan, Like,
- 29:17Speaker 3: that's that's that's dumb. So from the gambling standpoint, I'm
- 29:21Speaker 3: here for the citizens. When I hear my guy big
- 29:23Speaker 3: Cat being like, oh, I'm not six out of ten excitement,
- 29:26Speaker 3: I'm not going above six out of ten excitement, I'm like, why, Like,
- 29:31Speaker 3: that's that's part of the fun of fandom, Colin was
- 29:34Speaker 3: you know fan is short for fanatic, Like it's you
- 29:37Speaker 3: gotta you gotta fall for it. If you don't fall
- 29:39Speaker 3: for it, you honestly shouldn't watch sports. You should just
- 29:43Speaker 3: stop watching sports.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Here's what I think we have going for us. I
- 29:47Speaker 1: think the fact that ownership, and this is terrible to say,
- 29:53Speaker 1: but the fact that Virginia McCaskey passed away, I think
- 30:00Speaker 1: changes some of the feelings around the team and how
- 30:06Speaker 1: this team is managed and who knows what happens next.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Don't give me that face, because that has been that
- 30:15Speaker 1: The McCaskey family's ownership of this team has been a
- 30:18Speaker 1: challenge since nineteen eighty five.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Sure, the Bengals were the Bungles and then they got
- 30:27Speaker 3: Joe Burrow, Like they didn't become the ownership did become good.
- 30:33Speaker 3: They just got Joe Burrow. That's it, That's all that happened.
- 30:35Speaker 3: They got Joe Burrow. The Chiefs didn't win a single game,
- 30:39Speaker 3: one regular season game with a quarterback that they drafted
- 30:44Speaker 3: from Todd Blackledge to Patrick Mahomes. That was the Like
- 30:48Speaker 3: now they won, you know, Trent Green Joel Montana out.
- 30:51Speaker 3: But like things change, things change, And so I think, listen,
- 30:57Speaker 3: I think that Kevin Warren and the BIS side paying
- 31:02Speaker 3: Ben Johnson a bunch of money is obviously a departure
- 31:06Speaker 3: from their history with coaches. I think that's totally fair.
- 31:09Speaker 3: But Matt Nagy was a hot coaching candidate. They hired him.
- 31:12Speaker 3: John Fox had won a Super Bowl and was relatively
- 31:15Speaker 3: expensive for the time they had hired him. Like, they
- 31:18Speaker 3: haven't gotten it right at coach and quarterback my entire life.
- 31:25Speaker 3: That's impossible. It's an Now you can say, well, the
- 31:29Speaker 3: common thread there, dummy, is the McCaskey family. And I'm
- 31:31Speaker 3: with you on that, like to a certain extent. But
- 31:34Speaker 3: I just think that like, if Caleb Williams is awesome
- 31:39Speaker 3: and Ben Johnson is awesome, Virginia McCaskey could have lived
- 31:45Speaker 3: to be one hundred and forty and the Bears would
- 31:47Speaker 3: have been awesome. Like, you know, I really do think that,
- 31:50Speaker 3: like you have to get your quarterback and your coach,
- 31:53Speaker 3: and then everything else you can kind of figure out.
- 31:56Speaker 3: And I'm cautiously optimistic that they have their quarterback coach.
- 32:00Speaker 3: But again, I've felt that way before, cautiously Matt Maggie.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Higher, cautiously optimistic or rapidly over the top having a
- 32:09Speaker 1: good time optimistic.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Okay, so here's the other part about it now, Like
- 32:15Speaker 3: I there are some people in our line of work,
- 32:18Speaker 3: we'll say my line of work the opinion space, more local.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Professional capital j journalist over here.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know you're handicappers. You got
- 32:28Speaker 3: Simon saying that he's made a living batting the Carolina Panthers.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Not positive that's exactly true. But we'll see. Uh. I
- 32:39Speaker 3: some people are not willing to like make a prediction
- 32:41Speaker 3: on the front end and be wrong, Like they're like, well,
- 32:44Speaker 3: I'll just like kind of play it down the middle,
- 32:46Speaker 3: and like there are literally hosts that I have worked
- 32:49Speaker 3: with in Chicago. I don't make predictions. I don't pick games.
- 32:52Speaker 3: It's like, man, I am totally comfortably being wrong because
- 32:55Speaker 3: I've gambled my whole life, Like I, I know that
- 32:58Speaker 3: you could be great at this and be four out
- 33:00Speaker 3: of ten times. So Ryan Poles has done a lot
- 33:05Speaker 3: of the things that I said I wanted him to
- 33:07Speaker 3: do on like the front end. You know, I wanted
- 33:11Speaker 3: them to draft Caleb Williams. I wanted them to draft
- 33:13Speaker 3: Roma doonsay. I said they should have taken Jalen Carter
- 33:16Speaker 3: instead of Darnell Wright. I wanted them to take George
- 33:19Speaker 3: Pickens instead of Jakwan Brisker. I wanted them to hire
- 33:22Speaker 3: Ben Johnson, like so, you know, a couple of picks
- 33:25Speaker 3: he didn't do, but the big ones he did, so,
- 33:27Speaker 3: Like I I feel like they're doing this the right way.
- 33:32Speaker 3: They upgraded their offensive line significantly in the off season.
- 33:35Speaker 3: Kayleb Williams got sacked sixty two times last year, and
- 33:38Speaker 3: he was actually pretty good. Like if you look at
- 33:41Speaker 3: I did it on the show. If you do quarterbacks
- 33:43Speaker 3: who have been sacked sixty or more times like those seasons,
- 33:46Speaker 3: and then you look at their touchdown interception ratio and
- 33:49Speaker 3: passer rating, his is the best by far. Now it's
- 33:54Speaker 3: not good players. It's David Carr's. You know. Randall Conningham
- 33:58Speaker 3: was awesome, but his season where he got sack sixty
- 34:00Speaker 3: times wasn't and a couple of other guys who had
- 34:02Speaker 3: disaster seasons, like I think for the fact that that
- 34:05Speaker 3: happened to him as a rookie. They fired his head coach,
- 34:09Speaker 3: they fired his play caller. They lost ten straight games,
- 34:13Speaker 3: including in some just ridiculous fashion like that Hail Mary.
- 34:17Speaker 3: And he's still at the end of it, started seventeen games,
- 34:22Speaker 3: showed toughness, showed poise, showed improvement, and only threw six picks.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Like I think he's a stud man, I really do.
- 34:31Speaker 3: And Ben Johnson was the best coach they could have hired.
- 34:34Speaker 3: So I'm as optimistic as I am allowed to be.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I'm not picking them to win the Super Bowl, but
- 34:38Speaker 3: in terms of the long term outlook of the Bears,
- 34:43Speaker 3: I think they're clearly still a bye. Like I think
- 34:45Speaker 3: that their next five years are going to be very
- 34:47Speaker 3: good and they're going to win a lot of games.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Well, now I'm turning it up to eleven.
- 34:51Speaker 3: I was saying, like, what other than the uniform is
- 34:57Speaker 3: cursed and it just never works out, and so I
- 35:00Speaker 3: should just be cynical because that's my nature, Like what
- 35:03Speaker 3: about the Bears do do we not like?
- 35:06Speaker 1: I feel like that's enough.
- 35:09Speaker 3: See, I disagree. I feel like losing money every day
- 35:15Speaker 3: on the twenty sixteen Cubs.
- 35:18Speaker 1: I love the twenty sixteen Cubs.
- 35:20Speaker 3: That is a why. I know why they had never
- 35:22Speaker 3: won before. They were cursed.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they got over it. So you're saying
- 35:27Speaker 1: that the Bears will get over this. I'm saying I'm
- 35:30Speaker 1: gonna in twenty sixteen. My enthusiasm for the Cubs built
- 35:34Speaker 1: over the course of a season. My enthusiasm for the
- 35:37Speaker 1: Bears will build over the course of the season.
- 35:40Speaker 3: But yours. Okay, See this is again where we disagree.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Coming off of twenty the twenty fifteen Cubs, they won
- 35:46Speaker 3: ninety seven games. They're a good team. Yeah, so now
- 35:51Speaker 3: the band say they were not a good team. The
- 35:53Speaker 3: Bears have going for that.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Let me let me give you some context. And I
- 35:56Speaker 1: know Simon wants to jump in here because he wants
- 35:58Speaker 1: to hear about something other than the Bears. But let
- 36:00Speaker 1: me give you context right now. What you just you
- 36:02Speaker 1: just talked about your beautiful family and wanting to provide
- 36:06Speaker 1: for your family. Let me give you a scene. Okay,
- 36:10Speaker 1: it's two thousand and three, my first son is three
- 36:15Speaker 1: months old. I'm living in Manhattan, Midtown on the East
- 36:20Speaker 1: Side on fifty seventh Street between Lex and Third. My
- 36:23Speaker 1: wife is sleeping. It's eleven o'clock at night. I've got
- 36:28Speaker 1: my son sleeping on my chest, and bartment happens like
- 36:33Speaker 1: I've got the scars over a lifetime where I will
- 36:37Speaker 1: not be enthusiastic until it's time to be enthusiastic.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Ohhen I was in high school, I almost cried. Okay,
- 36:45Speaker 3: Like I understand I was way too old to be
- 36:48Speaker 3: crying or a verge of tears over a sporting event.
- 36:51Speaker 3: But my point is is if you have given up hope,
- 36:54Speaker 3: then just trade stocks and go to the theater, like
- 36:57Speaker 3: there's no reason to care about sports given up hope.
- 37:01Speaker 3: It's unscripted. We don't know what's going to happen. And
- 37:04Speaker 3: I don't believe in magic or curses or goblins, so
- 37:07Speaker 3: I don't believe that just like inherently the Bears are
- 37:10Speaker 3: cursed because they haven't won a Super Bowl in my lifetime.
- 37:14Speaker 3: That's I've seen too many other teams, including the Cubs,
- 37:18Speaker 3: overcome it so and change reputations alone. Now listen, would
- 37:22Speaker 3: this be a lot easier to say if Cayleb Williams
- 37:24Speaker 3: just had the season that Jayden Daniels had, Yes it would,
- 37:27Speaker 3: Yes it would. But that's why you need people like
- 37:30Speaker 3: me on that wall to be optimistic in the face
- 37:32Speaker 3: of overwhelming negativity and pessimism from cynics like Chad Millman.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Yeah, when I think about happening and I think about optimism,
- 37:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking about Danny Parker's the first right, It's the
- 37:44Speaker 1: first thing I said.
- 37:45Speaker 3: That's right about. That's right. No, I'm not a cold hearted,
- 37:48Speaker 3: sarcastic son of a bitch. I'm a I'm a I'm
- 37:50Speaker 3: a cock eyde optimist.
- 37:51Speaker 1: By the way, give it time, your TV star, you're
- 37:55Speaker 1: living You're not living in the Midwest anymore. Give it time, Simon,
- 38:00Speaker 1: those win super Bowls all the time.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Well just still even piggyback off that real quick, Chad,
- 38:03Speaker 2: Like I always wondered people on TV, like, all day
- 38:07Speaker 2: I think about football. Honestly, even at night, I'm thinking
- 38:09Speaker 2: of football. Someone like you, are you always thinking about
- 38:12Speaker 2: hot takes? Or do you just say shit on TV?
- 38:15Speaker 2: And then later someone's like, oh, that was a hot take.
- 38:17Speaker 2: You don't even thinking about you just said it that happened.
- 38:19Speaker 2: Do you pre playing that stuff because sometimes, I mean,
- 38:22Speaker 2: I've seen it, You've come across my timeline just because
- 38:24Speaker 2: I'm an Eagles fan, I've seen your Jalen Hurt stakes.
- 38:26Speaker 2: We don't need to get into that. There's enough enough
- 38:28Speaker 2: enough time here to get into it.
- 38:30Speaker 5: But do you plan that we got get into it.
- 38:33Speaker 5: Would you trade Jalen Hurts for Josh Allen? Would I
- 38:37Speaker 5: trade Jalen Hurts for Josh Allen? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, Well.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Then we're fine. Then we're on the same argument. Okay,
- 38:44Speaker 3: And your Eagle fan brethren who said that that was ridiculous.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Can you know we're defensive right now about Jalen You
- 38:51Speaker 2: know it is, Yeah, I know, but.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Like people have gone insane, you guys have gone insane. No,
- 38:56Speaker 3: we've gone into a polarizing thing to say that the
- 39:00Speaker 3: would trade Jalen Hurts for Josh Allen. That was defensive
- 39:04Speaker 3: to Eagles fans.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Most Eagles fans get upset about people still think justin Herbert,
- 39:09Speaker 2: they would take him over Jalen Hurts. And here's a
- 39:14Speaker 2: question for you, what's the point if you if your
- 39:16Speaker 2: if your goal is just to make to the playoffs
- 39:18Speaker 2: and then lose because your quarterback throws fore interceptions. They're
- 39:21Speaker 2: just dog shit like Herbert. That was a bad point.
- 39:24Speaker 3: That was a bad game. It's it's it's it's definitely
- 39:26Speaker 3: tough to make that argument that playoff game. But but
- 39:30Speaker 3: I am. I am genuinely curious you brought up Jalen Hurts.
- 39:32Speaker 3: I'm genuinely curious if you thought if you switched him
- 39:37Speaker 3: and you put Jalen Hurts on the Chargers, do you
- 39:42Speaker 3: think they're in that playoff game?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yeah, with that coaching staff and that defense.
- 39:46Speaker 3: Yeah, and you think the Eagles do not win the
- 39:48Speaker 3: Super Bowl?
- 39:50Speaker 2: No, because he just he's not that guy. Like as
- 39:53Speaker 2: much as I love to think, yes, the Eagles were
- 39:55Speaker 2: an incredibly complete team.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Like that's what I don't understand, Like Eagles fan,
- 40:00Speaker 3: It's like I feel like when you say that, you're
- 40:02Speaker 3: actually like undercutting how good your team is. Like you
- 40:05Speaker 3: guys don't even realize it, Like you see it as
- 40:08Speaker 3: defense of your quarterback. And I actually take it as
- 40:11Speaker 3: an insult to Howie Roseman and Jordan Malatta and Landon
- 40:15Speaker 3: Dickerson and Jalen Carter and Cooper deu Gene and Quinn
- 40:19Speaker 3: Mitchell and Saquon Barkley and DeVante Smith and eight J. Brown,
- 40:23Speaker 3: like on and on and on down the line. It's
- 40:25Speaker 3: it's not an insult to say that your quarterback is
- 40:29Speaker 3: a tough gamer who doesn't lose you guys games and
- 40:33Speaker 3: plays his best in the biggest games, but that fifteen
- 40:37Speaker 3: guys would win a Super Bowl on that team because
- 40:40Speaker 3: that's how good your team is. That's not an insult
- 40:42Speaker 3: to Jalen Hurts.
- 40:43Speaker 2: It's not by I disagree with it, just because every
- 40:46Speaker 2: year the best team usually doesn't win in football, and
- 40:49Speaker 2: it's because it's tight the playoffs. I mean, we've all
- 40:53Speaker 2: played sports. We know it is like everyone gets tight
- 40:56Speaker 2: and it's really mental when you get to that point
- 40:58Speaker 2: because the level everyone's playing it so high. Listen, we
- 41:01Speaker 2: love Jared Golf on this show. That guy had a
- 41:04Speaker 2: great team in Detroit on paper, just as good as
- 41:06Speaker 2: this Eagles team. I mean, you could say, well, is
- 41:08Speaker 2: defense had a ton of injuries. Okay, this guy threw
- 41:11Speaker 2: three interceptions and a pick six against that Washington defense.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Defense lit up.
- 41:16Speaker 3: So what happened to Mahomes in the Super Bowl? Did
- 41:18Speaker 3: he just like mentally wilt?
- 41:20Speaker 4: He?
- 41:21Speaker 2: He did in some ways like if you go back
- 41:22Speaker 2: and watch.
- 41:23Speaker 3: It, well, right, okay, fine, but but but it's not
- 41:25Speaker 3: because he's not mentally strong enough to win, right.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Uh No, no, no, like in his career, No, he's
- 41:32Speaker 2: always over his team wasn't good enough. Yeah, but that
- 41:35Speaker 2: was just like his ship. His ship was taking on
- 41:37Speaker 2: so much water. It didn't matter how much he was
- 41:39Speaker 2: thrown out. It was like he couldn't stop it. Right,
- 41:41Speaker 2: that was just never ending, the amount of the leak.
- 41:43Speaker 2: But I just think that the hurts thing. Like we
- 41:46Speaker 2: talked about as an Eagles fan, I think that's why
- 41:48Speaker 2: we get so defensive. It's like people think it's just
- 41:51Speaker 2: because of the team, and it's like, no, he makes
- 41:54Speaker 2: these big time throws in these big time moments that
- 41:57Speaker 2: I would say ninety of the quarterbacks playing the league
- 41:59Speaker 2: right now cannot make and have never made. So you know,
- 42:04Speaker 2: I have fun with it because it's never made. Okay, Yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 2: Like people want to push back on it, like like
- 42:08Speaker 2: the the fans I hear the most from just because
- 42:11Speaker 2: how big our show is, our Cowboys fans, and I
- 42:13Speaker 2: have fun with it because it is fun. Like I
- 42:15Speaker 2: love how passionate Cowboy fans are, and because they're just
- 42:18Speaker 2: like Eagles. We're fucking crazy about our teams, and I
- 42:22Speaker 2: joke with them all the time. Dak go through his career,
- 42:25Speaker 2: he's had some incredibly talented teams down in Dallas. The
- 42:28Speaker 2: man has won two playoff games in his career. Why
- 42:31Speaker 2: because he's not mentally right for the playoffs. Like, it's
- 42:34Speaker 2: just that it's that big of a difference that something
- 42:37Speaker 2: small goes wrong for certain quarterbacks and they can't recover
- 42:39Speaker 2: from We're Jalen Hurts. In my lifetime as an Eagles fan,
- 42:43Speaker 2: it's crazy to say he's the best quarterback we've ever had, man,
- 42:46Speaker 2: And that's why I think Eagles fans are so defensive,
- 42:48Speaker 2: because we've just had shit our whole life. At the
- 42:51Speaker 2: quarterback Nick nick Foles.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but even you would joke like Nick Foles that,
- 42:56Speaker 3: I mean, he's got to be just like the mentally
- 42:58Speaker 3: toughest guy ever, right, because you want to see Super Bowl.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I believe he is. He's one. He's one of two
- 43:03Speaker 2: quarterbacks in NFL history that beat Tom Brady in the
- 43:06Speaker 2: Super Bowl.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Right, So okay, right, but so okay, But so that
- 43:12Speaker 3: But again, you're not taking any credit for the Eagles
- 43:15Speaker 3: organization in that spot, of course I am.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I say how he's the greatest GM a million times over. Okay,
- 43:23Speaker 2: but that's why I like, like, you guys are talking
- 43:24Speaker 2: about your head coach, I've been dead wrong. I'm over too.
- 43:27Speaker 2: When Eagles head coaches have won Super Bowls. I did
- 43:29Speaker 2: not like the Doug Peterson higher, I did not like
- 43:31Speaker 2: Sirianni both won ring. So it's like, I do think
- 43:34Speaker 2: coaching is important, but like you're we're talking about here,
- 43:36Speaker 2: it's it's top down, right, It starts at the GM,
- 43:38Speaker 2: starts with the ownership of team building, the right quarterback
- 43:42Speaker 2: to write a coach. So that's just, you know, the
- 43:45Speaker 2: the push against the Eagles that you know they're the
- 43:48Speaker 2: best team that any They could put a trash can
- 43:50Speaker 2: back there and they would have won the Super Bowl.
- 43:52Speaker 2: It's just I think as an Eagles fan, we just
- 43:54Speaker 2: think it's all insane because.
- 43:55Speaker 3: It's just a straw man.
- 43:57Speaker 2: No one has you think you think Tua two would
- 43:59Speaker 2: come to the fill off fian won a Super Bowl
- 44:00Speaker 2: with this past teams who said that, that's what people
- 44:03Speaker 2: are saying. That's what I mean. Who Nick right? He
- 44:08Speaker 2: did not say that, but he didn't he had jail
- 44:10Speaker 2: Hurts outside his top fifteen, and he had two in
- 44:12Speaker 2: his top fifteen. So that's that's what I mean.
- 44:14Speaker 3: It's like it's I don't know next Knicks gambling in
- 44:18Speaker 3: Vegas right now, but like.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I did not have to go check out him talking
- 44:22Speaker 2: in August last year he was not a fan of
- 44:23Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Okay, well, okay, First of all, God, Eagles fans are
- 44:27Speaker 3: so sensitive. I thought you guys were tough. I thought
- 44:30Speaker 3: Eagles fans.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Were not sensitive. We just remember the haters like talking.
- 44:34Speaker 3: About just won the Super Bowl.
- 44:36Speaker 4: He he's since August, He's he's won you say since August,
- 44:41Speaker 4: he's won fourteen. He's won eighteen football games, including Super
- 44:46Speaker 4: Bowl MVP. A lot has changed since August.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Although that's said, if that's said, I would look, I'm
- 44:55Speaker 1: not a huge Jalen Hurts fan. I think he's amazing,
- 44:59Speaker 1: but like.
- 45:00Speaker 2: He's him outside his top ten headed into the season.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Just so we're all the same.
- 45:03Speaker 1: What I right now, right now, have Jalen Hurts as
- 45:09Speaker 1: a guy, as a better I don't want to have
- 45:14Speaker 1: the ball. If I have bet against his team as
- 45:20Speaker 1: a top five would I rather have Jalen Hurts over
- 45:22Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford. If I've bet against Matthew Stafford.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Like both you guys have you guys would have Jade
- 45:30Speaker 2: Daniels ever Hurts? Correct, Yes, Okay, Jayden Daniels is one
- 45:35Speaker 2: year younger than Hurts and he's playing in the NFL
- 45:37Speaker 2: for one year. Hurts has played for five years. Yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 2: And that's my issue is people think Jane Daniels is
- 45:42Speaker 2: a better quarterback now than Hurts because of one good year,
- 45:45Speaker 2: rather than a guy who's played for five years, has
- 45:47Speaker 2: been the two Super Bowls.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Spl Dude, it's a team sport, it is, But the
- 45:53Speaker 3: quarterback position the worst position the mouse would you say?
- 45:58Speaker 2: You say, it's a team sport, but we all agree
- 45:59Speaker 2: that quarterback is the most important position.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Yeah, of course. Okay, so but okay, in basketball, you're
- 46:08Speaker 3: one of five on the court and you play for
- 46:11Speaker 3: forty of forty eight minutes. So one in basketball has
- 46:15Speaker 3: a huge impact. Obviously, one in football has a huge impact.
- 46:21Speaker 3: But it's not like that slice of the pie is smaller,
- 46:26Speaker 3: even if it's the biggest slice of the pie. But
- 46:29Speaker 3: it's smaller because coaching matters more, because it's eleven on eleven,
- 46:33Speaker 3: because you're on the field for you don't play offense
- 46:36Speaker 3: and defense, right, Like a quarterback is the most is
- 46:39Speaker 3: the biggest slice of the football impact pie. But it
- 46:42Speaker 3: is smaller than Joker to the Nuggets, right to Jannis
- 46:48Speaker 3: to the Bucks, to Lebron to the Lakers. Right. We
- 46:50Speaker 3: all understand that. So having the best offensive line, the
- 46:57Speaker 3: best I mean, number one in some defensive categories last year.
- 47:02Speaker 3: But we'll say a top five defense, is that fair
- 47:04Speaker 3: for the Eagles last year? The top five defense? Yeah,
- 47:07Speaker 3: top five defense, best offensive line, best running back, top
- 47:12Speaker 3: three wide receiver duo, top five wide receiver duo, like
- 47:16Speaker 3: top five weapons, top one offensive line, top five defense.
- 47:22Speaker 3: That's not what Jaden Daniels had.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Okay, if you want to go that way, then what
- 47:27Speaker 2: about Lamar? Last year? Lamar had the number one team
- 47:29Speaker 2: in my model, and everyone's a model, it's a professional better.
- 47:32Speaker 2: He lost at home to the Chiefs. Couldn't score more
- 47:34Speaker 2: than seventeen points at home. I mean, that's that's my thing.
- 47:37Speaker 2: You're like, we all.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Agree, were just talking about we were just talking about
- 47:41Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels v. Jalen Hurts. Yeah, because you want to
- 47:45Speaker 3: talk about Lamar, we can talk about Lamar because you
- 47:47Speaker 3: just talked about how much of a team sport it was.
- 47:49Speaker 2: And my whole pushback to you was, Lamar had a
- 47:51Speaker 2: better team on paper in that Eagles team last year. Brother,
- 47:54Speaker 2: like anyone you talked to as a model, that team
- 47:57Speaker 2: from two years ago, that home Ravens team that lost
- 47:59Speaker 2: to the Chiefs who were a four seed, that were bad,
- 48:03Speaker 2: That was not a good team that won that Super
- 48:05Speaker 2: Bowl against that FORIYDN and Iris team, right, Lamar laid
- 48:08Speaker 2: an egg And you could say, well, okay, we'll put
- 48:11Speaker 2: that on Lamar. But Lamar had a better team than
- 48:13Speaker 2: Eagles and he laid an egg at home against that
- 48:15Speaker 2: Chiefs team.
- 48:16Speaker 3: You're saying, saying the Ravens team of two years ago
- 48:19Speaker 3: was better than the Eagles team of last year?
- 48:21Speaker 2: Is your plot if you if you as a professional
- 48:23Speaker 2: better than models it out? Yeah, they're high.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Okay, I just want to I just want to be
- 48:26Speaker 3: sure I'm understanding. You're talking about two years ago Ravens
- 48:28Speaker 3: team and last year's Eagles team and then doing two
- 48:30Speaker 3: years ago Lamar Jackson against last year Jalen hurts no,
- 48:36Speaker 3: because it's it's that's not exactly apples to apples and
- 48:39Speaker 3: so like, and again.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Using one that just said the best team right, Okay, the.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Best team doesn't always win, but one data point of
- 48:47Speaker 3: single elimination, like that's why, that's why extrapolating out and
- 48:52Speaker 3: being like he wilted in this playoff game, it still
- 48:56Speaker 3: is just one game again, difference with basketball the most
- 49:00Speaker 3: important game, yes, the most important game.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's why I think people in media, I
- 49:05Speaker 2: feel like you guys are missing the point here where
- 49:06Speaker 2: it's like Lamar and no one's doubting Lamar is a
- 49:09Speaker 2: better quarterback than Jalen Hurts. Right, me and Chat will
- 49:11Speaker 2: do our top ten, we'll have Lamar above him. But
- 49:15Speaker 2: my whole issue is like Hurts doesn't give the credit
- 49:17Speaker 2: for what he does. Is in the playoffs, he makes
- 49:19Speaker 2: it all work. He doesn't will He isn't like.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I just got I got like honestly, like so is
- 49:24Speaker 3: saying Jalen Hurts is the seventh best quarterback in football
- 49:28Speaker 3: after being the Super Bowl? Is that like disrespectful?
- 49:31Speaker 2: It depends you have above him. Like if you had
- 49:34Speaker 2: Stafford above him, I have no issue with that. If
- 49:36Speaker 2: you have Justin Herbert above him, I have an issue
- 49:39Speaker 2: with that.
- 49:39Speaker 3: Mahomes Allen Lamar Burrow Stafford. Uh, Like, yeah, I would.
- 49:47Speaker 3: I would say that Jade and Daniels is better. Again
- 49:50Speaker 3: isolating performances, I mean, because like we've have one. We
- 49:53Speaker 3: have one year and he won what three playoff game
- 49:56Speaker 3: or two two playoff games? Sure in one year with
- 50:00Speaker 3: a with a worst team. But like so, like he
- 50:03Speaker 3: he was mentally tough enough to not wilt in the
- 50:05Speaker 3: first two games, but then he was mentally weak in
- 50:08Speaker 3: the NFC Championship game. Like I just don't do my
- 50:11Speaker 3: analysis off of like one game like that, Like Jalen
- 50:13Speaker 3: Hurts is a gamer.
- 50:14Speaker 2: But you that's my issue is you are doing it
- 50:16Speaker 2: off one game.
- 50:17Speaker 3: He was the Super Bowl MVP. That changes things.
- 50:21Speaker 2: But that's what I'm saying is you're giving him his
- 50:22Speaker 2: flowers now because of one game that you're missing the
- 50:25Speaker 2: whole point.
- 50:26Speaker 3: He was No, No, he was also awesome in the
- 50:28Speaker 3: first Super Bowl. Yes, the first thing I said about
- 50:31Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts was he's a gamer. He plays the he
- 50:33Speaker 3: plays his best in the biggest games. That was the
- 50:35Speaker 3: first thing I said about him. But I don't you
- 50:38Speaker 3: but you just said you still would say Lamar is
- 50:40Speaker 3: better than him, who doesn't play his best in the
- 50:43Speaker 3: biggest games.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Right, because Richard's because because of the sail. What I said, Yeah,
- 50:49Speaker 2: for regular season, we're saying, when you are a top two,
- 50:51Speaker 2: who is the better quarterback? Yeah, this position, Lamar ja
- 50:57Speaker 2: the quarterback. Of course he's a two time MV, but
- 51:00Speaker 2: he wilts.
- 51:01Speaker 3: In the biggest games, the most important games.
- 51:03Speaker 2: So that's the tough part, is like, I wouldn't. I'd
- 51:05Speaker 2: rather have hurts than I will Lamar.
- 51:08Speaker 3: No, you wouldn't.
- 51:08Speaker 2: I would.
- 51:09Speaker 3: No, that's no way, No, you wouldn't.
- 51:12Speaker 2: You guys don't know about winning. You're talking to a
- 51:14Speaker 2: winner here.
- 51:16Speaker 3: You wouldn't.
- 51:18Speaker 2: I would because I've seen the moments man. Like again,
- 51:21Speaker 2: I've made a ton of money fading Lamar in the
- 51:25Speaker 2: playoffs and every year I got to hear from Ravens
- 51:27Speaker 2: fans saying you're gonna get caught. We're different this year,
- 51:30Speaker 2: the team is different. Oh we got Derrick Henry. It's different.
- 51:33Speaker 2: It's never different. It's always been the same, and that
- 51:36Speaker 2: someday he'll break through, right, Peyton Mann eventually broke through.
- 51:39Speaker 2: He got over that hump that is Tom Brady, Like
- 51:41Speaker 2: I'm sure josh Alla will go over the hump that
- 51:42Speaker 2: is Patrick Mahomes. It's just as an Eagus fans, I
- 51:45Speaker 2: think that's what we're so annoyed about is just the
- 51:47Speaker 2: Hurts disrespect was just so insane coming into the season
- 51:50Speaker 2: because he had one down year where all these other
- 51:52Speaker 2: guys can have just a bunch of nothing years like okay,
- 51:57Speaker 2: good regular season, playoffs time come and they fall there.
- 52:00Speaker 2: So that was just my biggest issue, Danny.
- 52:02Speaker 3: I think, yes, sorry, it's very sensitive.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Here's what I'm hoping for, But I love it.
- 52:07Speaker 2: That's why I love the jail. It hurts the big
- 52:09Speaker 2: because it's it's funny because I can see it from
- 52:10Speaker 2: both sides.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Here's what I would like, Danny, for you and I. Yeah,
- 52:16Speaker 1: I would like for you and I to have the
- 52:18Speaker 1: opportunity to be a sensitive and defensive about Caleb Williams
- 52:23Speaker 1: after he's won two Super Bowls, as Eagles fans can
- 52:27Speaker 1: be about Jalen Hurts and.
- 52:30Speaker 3: This way, how what what rules do you think the
- 52:32Speaker 3: NFL is going to have to change to counterbalance Caleb
- 52:35Speaker 3: Williams's greatness, like like banning the tush push.
- 52:39Speaker 1: That's right, but I can't even imagine right now because
- 52:42Speaker 1: I can't even wrap my head around the idea of
- 52:43Speaker 1: the Bears being good enough to need rules changes.
- 52:46Speaker 3: I ben surely you're only going to be allowed to
- 52:48Speaker 3: throw from inside the hash marks.
- 52:50Speaker 1: After this year you can throw from inside the hash
- 52:53Speaker 1: marks and with your opposite hand.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And also your helmet has to be on backwards.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Yeah, in Chicago, you can do that at home. Yeah,
- 53:05Speaker 3: I think that's I think. I think that's what's coming.
- 53:08Speaker 3: I think that's what's coming. But Sam, to answer your
- 53:10Speaker 3: point your question, like, yeah, I think about what I'm
- 53:12Speaker 3: going to say on TV before I say it. That's how.
- 53:15Speaker 2: That's how that you know it's gonna be hot. You
- 53:18Speaker 2: know it's gonna be a hot topic. Though, like you
- 53:20Speaker 2: know it's a hot take, no man, Like like I think,
- 53:22Speaker 2: I but like, I think what you just said is
- 53:25Speaker 2: a hot take. You said that you would rather have
- 53:28Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts than Lamar Jackson. That's a hot take. Welcome
- 53:31Speaker 2: to television, Thank you, you know what I mean?
- 53:34Speaker 3: Like like you, people say hot take is a pejorative,
- 53:36Speaker 3: but you really believe it, right.
- 53:38Speaker 2: I really believe in the sense that I have the
- 53:40Speaker 2: data to back it up for sure.
- 53:42Speaker 3: Well, you see me going on TV without data and
- 53:46Speaker 3: facts behind me, not you.
- 53:48Speaker 2: But okay, we know, uh, we know that a lot
- 53:51Speaker 2: of people do not definitely not you, But I'm.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Just knowing iven just curious like like but like, I
- 53:55Speaker 3: just I think that, By the way, there's plenty of
- 53:58Speaker 3: data that can show that Lamar Jackson is better than
- 54:00Speaker 3: Jalen Hurts. You can make any case that you want.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Again, if you want to dominate the regular season, dominate it.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Okay, fine, but that again, that's the art. Again. I
- 54:12Speaker 3: can show you plenty of data that says Lamar is
- 54:14Speaker 3: better than Jalen Hurts, and you can show me playoff
- 54:16Speaker 3: data that says that Jailen is better than Lamar, And
- 54:20Speaker 3: then I would come at you and argue sample size,
- 54:23Speaker 3: and then you would come at me and argue your
- 54:25Speaker 3: model for overall team support, and like, that's the beauty
- 54:28Speaker 3: of sports man Like it's a you can have that.
- 54:33Speaker 1: That's the beauty of doing it on television. You can
- 54:36Speaker 1: have that argument and that debate NonStop for just about
- 54:40Speaker 1: every team in every single sport like we've just been having. Like,
- 54:44Speaker 1: there are data points that can be used to support
- 54:49Speaker 1: your argument no matter what your argument is. The fun
- 54:53Speaker 1: part is when you truly go all in and believe it,
- 54:56Speaker 1: have to defend it, and then have to live with
- 54:58Speaker 1: it over the course of an entire season, no doubt.
- 55:02Speaker 3: Like and I love planning my flag and taking a
- 55:05Speaker 3: position and it's it's what makes it fun. And and
- 55:09Speaker 3: by the way, I have no problems saying I was wrong.
- 55:12Speaker 3: I obviously was wrong about the Eagles, you know what
- 55:16Speaker 3: I mean, Like I obviously was wrong, and then I
- 55:19Speaker 3: just say I was wrong, like it's not it doesn't
- 55:23Speaker 3: It doesn't bother me at all, like the losing bets
- 55:27Speaker 3: bothers me, you know what I mean, Like like being
- 55:29Speaker 3: wrong about an opinion, it doesn't mean I don't believe it.
- 55:32Speaker 3: It doesn't mean it's fake. And by the way, I
- 55:34Speaker 3: have a researcher dedicated to propping up my takes with
- 55:37Speaker 3: data and with facts and with information like it's it's
- 55:40Speaker 3: an amazing amount of resources that we have at our disposal.
- 55:45Speaker 3: But yeah, some people just don't have an ability to
- 55:47Speaker 3: admit that they're wrong. And I think that that's like
- 55:52Speaker 3: just a bad character trait. And by the way, I
- 55:55Speaker 3: genuinely feel like being a gambler helps you admit you're wrong.
- 55:58Speaker 1: Because I was going to ask you that before to
- 56:00Speaker 1: get out of here, which is wrong, which is harder
- 56:04Speaker 1: being wrong for betting and having to defend it versus
- 56:09Speaker 1: being wrong for an opinion and knowing that you got
- 56:14Speaker 1: to come back with another opinion the next day.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Okay, I'm often bet I'm often betting based on my opinion,
- 56:28Speaker 3: and so that you are very interconnected. But again I
- 56:34Speaker 3: don't really look at either as like being hard like
- 56:38Speaker 3: it it's just the job. Like I simon, what were
- 56:42Speaker 3: you on picking NFL this year? Like personal or on
- 56:45Speaker 3: the show, whichever you'd care to share, I'd have.
- 56:50Speaker 2: To go back and look, but like personally, probably right
- 56:52Speaker 2: around like it wasn't it wasn't a good year, wasn't
- 56:57Speaker 2: a bad year. But luckily, like Chad knows, I get
- 57:00Speaker 2: about the Chiefs and Ego super Bowl matchup. So it's
- 57:02Speaker 2: like I made six figures on super Bowl Future. So
- 57:05Speaker 2: it's like my life. I can't complain. I can't complain
- 57:08Speaker 2: to the other.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Great, you crushed it, Yeah that's awesome, But fifty to fifty,
- 57:13Speaker 3: I'm like picks, it's tough. How many shows did you miss?
- 57:19Speaker 2: Zero?
- 57:20Speaker 3: Right? So one has no bearing with the other, like
- 57:23Speaker 3: it's part of it. You talk about the wins, you
- 57:24Speaker 3: talk about the losses, you talk about the correct predictions,
- 57:27Speaker 3: you talk about the wrong predictions, and you still do
- 57:28Speaker 3: content and you still show up because you're a professional,
- 57:31Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Like so like and by
- 57:32Speaker 3: the way, that's sick that you made six figures on that.
- 57:34Speaker 3: That's awesome. It is funny, you know what I mean.
- 57:36Speaker 3: It's it's fun. It's no text me that on the side.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Next time.
- 57:41Speaker 2: I got you, Chad, listen, thank god it because I
- 57:43Speaker 2: was almost gonna lose my shit on Chad. But thank
- 57:45Speaker 2: god Chad made the bet too.
- 57:47Speaker 3: Yeah that's excellent. But yeah, it's the type of thing
- 57:49Speaker 3: where it's like I just I don't I'm not betting
- 57:53Speaker 3: more than I can afford to lose, so the losses
- 57:55Speaker 3: don't like really hurt you in that sense. And then
- 58:00Speaker 3: the day, the thing that pays the mortgage is the
- 58:03Speaker 3: takes and the TV show, And so just show up,
- 58:07Speaker 3: win or lose, right or wrong, you know, like, just
- 58:09Speaker 3: be a be a professional about it. So like, neither
- 58:12Speaker 3: one really bothers me to be honest.
- 58:13Speaker 1: With you, Davey Parkins breakfast Ball, We're glad you showed
- 58:18Speaker 1: up for us.
- 58:19Speaker 3: I'll be it a little late.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Right on top.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Dude, you showed up.
- 58:24Speaker 3: I apologize, and I have no idea if this is
- 58:27Speaker 3: what you guys wanted to talk about, if you if
- 58:28Speaker 3: you guys wanted to do like NL Central futures. But
- 58:32Speaker 3: I hope, I hope this is what you and your
- 58:34Speaker 3: audience wanted.
- 58:35Speaker 1: And uh, I really wanted to go deep on the
- 58:38Speaker 1: new bats and see how you felt about those. But
- 58:40Speaker 1: we'll do it, you know what, We'll do it next time.
- 58:42Speaker 3: What amazing branding. Yeah, it's just that the word torpedo
- 58:46Speaker 3: is fun to say.
- 58:47Speaker 1: It's great. It's phenomenal branding. And there was actually a
- 58:49Speaker 1: great story in the Wall Street Journal today about the
- 58:52Speaker 1: physicist who created the bats and he gave up his
- 58:57Speaker 1: career in physics to go into coach and created these
- 59:01Speaker 1: bats and it is it's brilliant. Kudos to the Wall
- 59:05Speaker 1: Street Journal.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Yeah, but if they were, If they were, if the
- 59:08Speaker 3: guy's last name was was Mitchell and it was just
- 59:11Speaker 3: like the Mitchell bat, no one would talk about that
- 59:14Speaker 3: is good. But it's the torpedo bat. Yeah, but oh
- 59:17Speaker 3: it's the torpedo bat.
- 59:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fantastic, it's incredible.
- 59:21Speaker 3: I love it. Like I decided that next year it's
- 59:23Speaker 3: going to be Bazuka bets because Bazuka is just fun
- 59:26Speaker 3: to say.
- 59:27Speaker 1: And also then there's a great tie in for bubblegum,
- 59:29Speaker 1: and it takes us back to our nostalgia yeth of
