- 0:06SPEAKER_02: Well, hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of the Steve and Jeff Experience podcast.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: I'm Steve.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: I'm Jeff.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and we're glad to be back.
- 0:15SPEAKER_02: Our podcast is catching on so much across the country.
- 0:18SPEAKER_02: We are going to be making so much more money in the next few days, weeks.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've had surgery.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: I think we talked about this last week or the week before.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I don't remember, Steve, because I've been medically seduced for about seven days.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: You were in a medically seduced coma.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: And for those who maybe didn't hear the earlier podcasts, number one, you should step and Jeff.com, go listen.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: But if you haven't, Jeff had a nose job and you just had it just yesterday, right?
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: Or it's a couple a few days, a couple days ago, right?
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Steve, I don't know when I had it because I was under, you know, I wasn't conscious for a number of what day is today, Steve.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: You know, I said, you know, I didn't know you were gonna ask these tough questions, Jeff.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: I I'm sorry.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, and uh, but really though, we are we are gonna talk more about you know, in fact, I think we're gonna have your plastic surgeon back to talk about your nose on on another show.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Get ready for that.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: We're gonna hear all about it.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Well, that was one of the things I was gonna ask you, Steve, because I was thinking maybe I wouldn't have the surgery after all, and that I maybe I could delay this decision for a while.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: And I don't know.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: And then I woke up and I've got these masks on.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: So I'm not quite sure what happened.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: Well, I I I I think Jeff, the delay is not an option anymore.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: I think you did it.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: I think it has happened.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Did it turn out okay?
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Well, uh I last I heard, you know, we gotta wait to see, but last I heard you were going to get Jennifer Aniston's nose.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I guess we'll find out.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: That'll be good.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: I I think I'm at a red roof end.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: I I think I had this, I think it happened here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: I'm not quite sure, but I I think I'm excited to see what happens.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Uh Red Roof end, check the pillowcases and uh don't get room service.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: But anyway, but okay, but I digress.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: But I digress.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Too late, I know.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: But you know, Jeff, we have a great guest here tonight as well.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: We have, you know, it kind of on our local heroes series, we have another local hero, somebody that's doing amazing work out in the community.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: And I'd like to welcome our guest.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: She is Dr.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Xenia Goldfarb.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Dr.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Goldfarb, welcome.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Hello, Steve and Jeff.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Hello.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Hey, you know, that is an amazing name you've got, uh, Dr.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: Uh Xenia Goldfarb.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: You know, I think I I knew somebody with a similar name, and maybe you're related.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: It was Xeniaphobia.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: Are you related to her?
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: No, because um people are not typically related by their first names, it is usually a surname relation.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: Oh, see, see how that these geneticists just know so much.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, that was amazing.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: That's amazing insight.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: That is great.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: So now, now, Doctor, what what area of genetics do you really do you focus in?
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, I know there are a lot of things you can do.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Plants, you can do dead bodies, you could do all kinds of things.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: What what what do you what do you work in?
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I like to consider myself a bit of a renaissance geneticist.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: I'd like to dabble here and there in the uh in the botanical geneticism, you know, uh human genetics.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And also I don't like to talk about this in public, but um just between the the three of us.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I have been studying paleogenetics.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, and you know, that really will stay just between the three of us, because of course, none of the listeners will ever say a word about this.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Paleogenetics.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: What now what is that?
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: That sounds like old.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Is that for old people?
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Because we're old, maybe that would work for us.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: You know, it might benefit you, and certainly.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Um, I think that there is a lot we can learn from the past, and uh not so much from the future.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I think the future is overrated.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Yes, I think Jeff Jeff is struggling here, right?
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: You know, oh here in the studio.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Here, let me uh here, let me move this for you.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Jeffy, you can you talk there?
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: I think you had a question.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Do we have our guest on yet?
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, she's right the other side of the glass.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: See?
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Wow, oh.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, look, she's waving.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: There she is.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Hi, hello.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Hi, look, she that's her.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I again I'm trying to catch up a little bit, but from what I'm detecting, you're a gynecologist.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Uh no, this could almost be no further from the truth.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Uh, I am a geneticist, I work with the genome, and I don't like to spend too much time in women's private parts.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: Genome.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: Now that's that's like that travelocity thing, or that some people put it on their on their lawn, you know.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: This the travelosity genome.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: The travelocity genome, yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yes.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Uh uh, yes.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It's it's like that in that it isn't.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: And I think Jeff, I think Jeff, you use travelocity to book your uh surgical slash hotel stay.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, I was given a choice between uh Hampton ends and the red roof end, but the red roof end I think is red as my favorite color.
- 5:41SPEAKER_01: So I I chose that one.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: So are are you are you a scientist then?
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Is that fair to say?
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: That's incredibly fair of you to say, Jeff.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: So, like, are you a scientist, like a real scientist?
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Because I know and are you a doctor?
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Because there's a lot of different kinds of doctors, as we talked about in the last podcast.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: So are you a real doctor then?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Uh yes, I have a real PhD in uh both uh genetics and paleontology.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: She's no optometrist, Jeff.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Let me just tell you that she is no optometrist, no sir.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: So so when you studied in college, were you studying to be a like a degree at scientist?
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, uh, that's that is correct.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I took many years of college.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: I also took a skip year to work in in the Disney College program in Orlando, Florida.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Oh wow, lots of animal genetics there, I bet.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: You know, mouse they have an entire animal kingdom.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, genetics at Disney, is it true that they that they clone those employees and they they're not like actual, well, I guess they're people, but they're not like people you would ever meet.
- 6:55SPEAKER_02: They're just like Disney clones.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: That is correct.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That is in fact why they are legally obligated to call them cast members and not employees.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: It's the same way that you uh craft has to say uh cheese product because the singles are uh not what you could legally refer to as cheese.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: It lacks enough cheese to be called actual cheese, yeah.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And the the employees at Disney lack the uh human biology to be called employees.
- 7:27SPEAKER_02: Wow, wow, no wonder they're always smiling.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: That's right, they have been genetically engineered to be cheerful and helpful in at all times.
- 7:36SPEAKER_02: And Jeff, I you're you're you're you're smiling a lot there, Jeff.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: I think you're I think those things are still see.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Well, I yeah, it is kind of under the bandages a little bit, but it looks like you're smiling there or you're you're asleep, maybe.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Jeff, as a doctor, I'm concerned about the work that has been done to your face.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: I I haven't actually had the surgery yet, so you know Oh, this is the before.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: This is the before, yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Oh god.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: I think that was just like the prep, right?
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Was it?
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: I don't, I'm not sure.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: But Dr.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Velvita, is that your last name?
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Dr.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Velvita.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: No, the cheese was an unrelated conversation.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, okay, okay.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: So so that's although I do know somebody named Velvita.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Should we we should bring her on too?
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: But anyway, but I digress.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: No, go ahead.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: I think I think she's Dr.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Velvita is a colleague of mine.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: Oh that's how I know her.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes, yes, yeah.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, you've probably seen her.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, we have uh we have our little scientist cookouts um once a month in my backyard.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they use they use these really cool lasers.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: I you know, because I I live near Dr.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: Goldfarb.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: I don't know if you knew that.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: We're we're we're kind of neighbors, and I I see they use these lasers.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, they don't use charcoal or no, no, no.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: They put this thing on a grill and they just turn on a laser and zap it, you know, and it's done in like 10 seconds.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: It's more ecologically friendly to to laser your meat.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I always try to laser my meat as often.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: That got you in trouble a few times, didn't it?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it really has.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, is that what they're going to do to your face?
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Will they be lasering your face meat?
- 9:15SPEAKER_01: I I'm not quite sure, but I'm hoping they will.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: But related to that, I have a question for you.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: You we I have role models, Steve and I, you know, have role models in the talk show podcast category.
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: And I was just wondering of these three scientists, which one do you think you are closest to being like or that you respect?
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Ummett Brown from Back to the Future, uh Josh Brown, uh Spot from Star Trek or Ross Geller from French.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: I think he was a scientist.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: I, of course, since I will have uh Jennifer Addison knows, you know, big fan of Ross Geller.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: You know, in fact, not only was he a scientist, I think he has something to do with paleo.
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: He was on the paleo diet or something.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Actually, yes, I think of those three, I would be closest to Ross Geller.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Um I took a quiz on um uh uh on I took an online survey on which friends character are you.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, and those are those are really accurate.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Those are I came up with Ross Geller, yes.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Ross Ross, yeah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: And it yeah, I had to have a deep uh physic philosophical meltdown with that because he's he's widely regarded as the least likable friend.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: See, I took that same test and I thought I was gonna get Ross because I'm all over Ross.
- 10:43SPEAKER_02: I I kept getting Chandler.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I I can't understand it.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: You got real Chandler Bing energy.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, I yeah, well, maybe that's it.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Maybe that's it.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Maybe and I might get it from the same place, so I might have to take a few like 28 days off, but but anyway, but I digress.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: But yeah, Jeff, Jeff, I I see you as a Gunther, a Gunther.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: I I like that character too.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I was considering Gunther's nose as uh an option at one point, but well, you know, Gunther Gunther made some great coffee.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, you know, laugh if you will, but that coffee that was darn good.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: His coffee was impeccable.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, they couldn't stop frequenting the coffee place for his famous brew.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: The other obvious question that I have for you, and I think you probably get this a million times, is science just a left-wing uh conspiracy to make people promote evolution?
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, it's a little heavy question.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Incisive.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I I think it's a I I think conspiracy is a heavy term.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: It implies that there was a lot of thought put into it, a lot of layers of mechanics involved.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: And in fact, uh, you know, it's just that you know, uh evolution is good and correct, and you should believe in it or you should die.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: See, that's a great thing about our podcast, Jeff, is we we really touch on the big issues, the big issues, the exist like life, existence.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: You know, I bet that that MMA guy, comedian, you know, I bet he doesn't talk about this.
- 12:18SPEAKER_02: No, he's talking about you know, celebrities and whatever stuff like that.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, COVID.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: He's all over COVID, yeah.
- 12:26SPEAKER_02: Stupid stuff.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yes, yes.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Who has time for celebrities?
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I know, I know, especially as a scientist.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're I bet you're very busy now with if if studying the past, you know, I I I gotta ask, since you're you're looking, you're learning from the past, uh, the paleo geneticism.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: Are you are you working on a machine for time travel?
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Uh would that that were true.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Time travel is a myth uh created by fiction writers uh who are, in my opinion, the lowest form of author.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: I think you know, it's a cheat really to travel back in time and just to observe the thing.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: It takes almost no effort, you know.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: It'd be the same thing as uh if you were to to study the weather just by standing outside of your own door and pointing up at the sky and saying it's cloudy out.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: You know, it it takes no work at all.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: I prefer to really dig into it, literally and figuratively burrow into the earth to find artifacts of the past, to then educate us in the present.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: So well well well, Doctor, if time travel is fake, then I'm not really from the future.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, Steve.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Do you think that you're from the future?
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: Well, uh I did.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Maybe I don't know.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: Gosh, if I'm not from the future, I got I got a few phone calls I gotta make later.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Ooh, man, I'm gonna start making a list, but I kind of thought I was, but wow.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: You know, you know, Steve, we've we've known each other for 50 years.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: I I thought you were from the future.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: All of I remember when we first met.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: It seemed like it was in the future 50 years ago, which probably would have made it about now.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Well, you remember, you remember when we first met, first time we met, I don't know if you remember this, but I do.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: First time we met, that was 1971, I want to say, something like that, right?
- 14:21SPEAKER_02: 1971.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: And I asked you, hey, have you Googled that?
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: And you said, What the F you talking about, you know?
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: And and so there you go.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: See, how did I even know that?
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: How did I know that word?
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Wow, this is fascinating, Steve.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry that we have not spent more time as neighbors, um, because I you've opened up a new window uh into the very fabric of reality as we know it, and I must know more.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: How how and forgive me if this has been covered before on your podcast, but what is the means of transport that you have come from the future back into 1971?
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, Steve, I think it was covered in a future episode.
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: I think it was of our podcast.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, now we're getting into a real uh paradox here.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: It was it we did that broadcast, oh gosh, I don't know, 2029, I think it was.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: And and yeah, it'll be on the website.
- 15:23SPEAKER_02: Well, you might have to wait about oh, I don't know, about seven years, I guess, but it might be on the website.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: How does how does my nose look, Steve?
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: And in that episode, Jeff, I I actually I I I'd had a couple of scotches before the the thing.
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: I usually don't do that, but I had that night, and you know, I kind of thought you were Jennifer Aniston for a second.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: That's that's how good your nose was.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: I kind of, you know, I kind of thought I said, Hey Jennifer, and I go, Oh, wait, because your hair was different, you know what I mean?
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I had hair.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in addition to the Jennifer Aniston nose, did he also have the haircut known as the Rachel?
- 15:59SPEAKER_02: Oh see, that's how I that's how I knew it wasn't her because there was no Rachel.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I think I remember when I signed the papers, I signed for a bundle, but I don't think the hair was the second part, I think it was by ankles that I had my ankles.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you were lengthening the ankles.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 16:16SPEAKER_02: That's what I'm saying.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I should have Steve, I should have put in that I wanted uh Rachel's hair.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: But here, well, that'll be an upcharge, I bet.
- 16:23SPEAKER_02: You know, I bet.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's a hot ticket item, it has to be.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:28SPEAKER_02: Well, say, you know, we we've got some more questions for for the doctor here.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do some more talking, but I feel like I have more questions for you, but it's your show.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, and and and listen, I and you know, yes, about uh opening that window.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: I I tell you, as a neighbor, I don't mind you looking through that window.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Let me tell you.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, thank you.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: I mean I looked through all my neighbors' windows, so why shouldn't you?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: You know, if they didn't want us to look, they wouldn't have made glass clear.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Why have they made windows?
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: That's it, that's it exactly.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: But uh you know, before we we get to the more questions, Jeff, we got another sponsor.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: We're just we're just raking it in.
- 17:04SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, this one we're not really raking it in because this one is a little different.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: Uh, this is actually a public service announcement.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: Guy at church came up to me and said, you know, with oh, years of scandal and covet and everything, we're we're having a tough time getting people to come to church.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: And could you just run a public service announcement on your podcast to just to remind people, hey, go to church.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Well, I said yeah, but then I started thinking, you know, they really need something more than just your PSA.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Just a PSA, like, oh, go to church.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Like nobody, like everybody doesn't know about church already.
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I mean, why come on, right?
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: I mean, if you know, as we're not informing anybody, yeah, we're not informing anybody about anything, right?
- 17:45SPEAKER_02: You know, I think they needed something a little zippier.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: And Jeff, I know you remember, and doctor, I don't know if you're old enough for this, but uh Jeff, I know you remember the uh those great, great drag race commercials on WLS back when we were kids, you know.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: I do like uh well, you know, so I I started thinking about that and I put a PSA forum together.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: And well, here, let me uh let me just let me just play it for you here.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: Um let me uh here, we'll we'll just we'll go to the commercial.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll be right back.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't know about you guys, but I think that is really gonna bring people back to church.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: I think that's just that's gonna be a religious revival.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Steve, I must say, as a scientist, I am obliged to atheism, but boy, that commercial really wowed me.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: Like I wanted, I would just I I would you will find my seat in the pew for that one.
- 19:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it it makes you want to go and it makes you want to see the you see the time trials.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: You want to go early for the time trials and then see the racing.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: I've never been more excited for theology.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you, but you know, it I thought it was great.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm a little concerned about going and getting into an accident with my new face, but I think after I completely recover, I'm going to church right away.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Motivated me.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: You you take that new Chevy.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: Boy, I I shouldn't say Chevy, uh, you know, 65 makes me think about him the 65 Impala man.
- 20:09SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: But I digress.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: But anyway, so Doctor, it's studying the past, what have you found about the origins of humanity?
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, that must be something.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: I mean, you're not really, I mean, you're doing genetics versus, you know, really history and that sort of thing.
- 20:22SPEAKER_02: But what have you discovered about the genetic origins of us?
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Well, I found that humanity by and large was a humongous mistake.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, you're telling me.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no doubt.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was really, it's really just a a comedy of errors as far as uh genetics go.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, we we shouldn't have happened.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: It it shouldn't be like this at all.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: Any rational thought about humanity and and the society we've built, it crumbles upon any kind of uh uh, you know, uh consideration you give it.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: So what if if it wasn't gonna be us, people, what was it gonna be like?
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: What what would have been a like a better result or a different result?
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Oh well, you know, in my findings, I think the superior life form would have been cats.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Ah, I'm a big cat fan.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: I I could go for that.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And you can see that you can see it now, the way I mean, uh cats are the really the only uh pets that we humans keep that are self-domesticated.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: You know, they we did not breed them into domestication the way we brought the wolf into the tiny chihuahua dog, you know.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: The cat it found a weakness within humanity, and it it just it attacked that weak spot within our our very consciousness and it became a member of our homes.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Wow, how how far back are we talking here?
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Like, are we talking like 10 years, 100 years?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: Like, how far back do you study this stuff?
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Um, all the way back.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: To uh do the very dawn of man.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: So because I had a cat and uh but I don't remember her.
- 22:13SPEAKER_02: Well, it maybe you had a cat in the future, yeah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: And you don't remember had a cat in the future, and you don't remember the future yet, but you did I have one?
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: You you may yet to have a cat.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do I have one?
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: Well, I I all I can tell you is in that 2029 podcast that we did when you came into the studio, you had these little little short hairs on you.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: Now, don't care about your private life, but they could have been cat hairs, you know what I'm saying?
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: Doesn't matter to me, but okay.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's a that's a study in biology all on its own.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, it is.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: I'll tell you, you've you know, if you wanted to study biology, you really got a couple of fruitful uh subjects here, you know.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: I absolutely I I'm still baffled by the notion that you are you you claim uh to be from the future and I are existing.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, are you existing simultaneously in different time periods or are you hopping around?
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, I it it feels more like I'm hopping around, but I don't know because sometimes I'll wake up and I'll I'll say, boy, I could really go for some zagimba, and I have no idea what that is, it hasn't been invented yet.
- 23:26SPEAKER_02: And I realized, oh, zagimba's from you know, like the 2030s, they come out, so it's like a breakfast drink, it's really good.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: And I know there's like a question whether Steve is you know making this up or whatever, but I just want to point out that Steve is always ahead of every meeting that we have scheduled.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: He's like 10 minutes, he's there 10 minutes before anybody else.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: And I don't think you could do that if you don't know the future.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: No, I think um as a as someone who has studied um humanity, I we are a chronically late and inconsiderate species.
- 24:02SPEAKER_02: I boy, I couldn't, I couldn't agree more, Doc.
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: And in fact, you know, that actually reminds me of something, doc.
- 24:07SPEAKER_02: You know, I just mentioned we we are neighbors, of course, and you know, you have you know, kind of our backyards kind of sort of touch a little bit.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: I mean, I can see you out there zapping, you know, uh doing the laser on the stakes and everything.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: But uh, you know, uh, you know, doc, uh you just painted your fence, right?
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: And I normally don't care what people do, but you know, that did I mean that it's like a turquoise, it's like a turquoise fence.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, like I look out every day.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: I see this turquoise fence.
- 24:36SPEAKER_02: It's like, wow, like why?
- 24:39SPEAKER_02: Why the turquoise fence?
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's I'm sorry, I didn't realize it had been an issue.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: It is my own private fence, and uh, it just so happens that turquoise is uh the same color as my uh lab coat.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: And I I'm trying to go for kind of a theme, you know.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: I I want my home to really reflect who I am inside and out.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, turquoise, I don't have anything against the color per se.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: It sounds like you do.
- 25:09SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, turquoise Indian jewelry, beautiful, wonderful fences, yeah, you know, maybe not, maybe not so wise.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Dr.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Dr.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Goldfarm, I I'd be careful uh to uh minimize what Steve is saying because he knows the future, and in the future, you may not like turquoise.
- 25:29SPEAKER_01: And I Steve, I don't know if you if you know that or not, but I think he's trying to sort of nudge you in the right direction that this is a chance to kind of correct a mistake before you know you might regret it in the future.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Well, I that's just fundamentally goes against everything I believe in.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: I will not let the future dictate how I live my life.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Uh I will let the past dictate how I live my life.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: But um, you know, I will make my own choices to color my fences however I darn well, please.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: I would violate the prime directive if I really told you about the future.
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: I'm not supposed to.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Who is directing you?
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: But let me just say, I I'm I'm a little psychic and I'm I'm I'm closing my eyes and I I see a day where there's no turquoise.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: There's just it just there's none.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: Well, there still is that like the Indian jewelry.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, that still is wrong, but elsewhere, no, no, it just doesn't exist.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: No turquoise at all?
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: None.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: No, you're like has been removed from the color spectrum.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, the company, the corporation that owns your lab changed their lab coats to to I think dark like maroon or something.
- 26:36SPEAKER_02: It's it's not better, it's just different, you know what I mean?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: No, how could they do this?
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: Well, it's I guess I I guess I broke the prime directive.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: Wow, again.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: This is an outrage.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: It is doc.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: I I think that in fairness, here we are.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: You're an expert on the past, and Steve is talking about the future, and I think you're at a little bit of a disadvantage.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: So let me kind of bring you back to you know your core, you know, what what you really know.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: So let me ask you this question.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Jeff.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Of the three movies that Jennifer Addison starred in, which one of the three do you think was the best?
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: And those three are Horrible Bosses, one of my favorites.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Good movie.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Horrible Bosses 2, also very good movie, and the Friends Reunion movie.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: I don't think it made it to the movie theaters, but you know, I have a I have a private recording of it.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: And so from a historical standpoint, where do you put those that in history?
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, I no one can deny the historical impact that Horrible Bosses 2 have upon society.
- 27:53SPEAKER_00: It's I mean, it were there to be a Horrible Bosses 3, Horrible Bosses 2 would be the godfather too of the Horrible Bosses trilogy.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 28:04SPEAKER_02: See, we are still we are still feeling the reverberations of that movie, I'll tell you.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: I I think that's true, yes.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: And you know, I'm I am sorry to say that we are just about out of time, but I want to think we just started talking about horrible bosses.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: Oh, well, uh Doctor, we can have you back and and we can talk further about that.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: And we might we I might bring up the fence again, you know, it's possible.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: But but listen, thanks for coming on.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: You're a great guest, and uh Jeff, we got another exciting podcast next week, and I look forward to it.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, and and you know it's because he's been there, he's been there.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: I've seen, and it's a fun podcast, you like it.
- 28:43SPEAKER_02: You reveal your nose, and I don't want to spoil it for you, but so listen, uh hey, we'll have fun.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll have you back, and uh thanks for coming in.
- 28:52SPEAKER_02: And Jeff, let's go to the next podcast.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: It was nice meeting you.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Thank you, gentlemen.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: This has been both confounding and enjoyable.
- 29:02SPEAKER_02: I love it when she says stuff like that, you know?
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Jesus, big word.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: I like that.
