- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus, powered by Seahawks dot Com. Now here's your host,
- 0:09Speaker 1: that's a Chope. Welcome to another edition of Hawk Talk.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yes, the Seahawks are going to Super Bowl sixty Scotter'
- 0:17Speaker 2: an impressive thirty one to twenty seven win over the
- 0:20Speaker 2: Los Angeles Rams, the first time Seahawks are back in
- 0:22Speaker 2: the Super Bowl since twenty fourteen.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Bump how sweet it is?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Okay, sixteenth win of the year, tied for the most
- 0:29Speaker 2: of franchise history with twenty thirteen. We got one more
- 0:31Speaker 2: games over the good and get that done, my guy,
- 0:33Speaker 2: John Boyle pointed out, to get to the Super Bowl,
- 0:35Speaker 2: minor guys. The Seahawks have won nine straight games, including
- 0:38Speaker 2: a stretch of games against the Rams Panthers forty nine
- 0:41Speaker 2: Ers forty nine ers Rams. Again, that's five straight wins
- 0:44Speaker 2: over teams that made the playoffs.
- 0:46Speaker 3: For those teams won twelve more games. Come on, man,
- 0:49Speaker 3: come on, dude, let's go. Hey, this is the longest
- 0:51Speaker 3: we've done this podcast. Yeah, the longest week win question
- 0:55Speaker 3: by some weeks. We deep in here, man out. That
- 0:57Speaker 3: was that was great. The twelves. Y'all showed up. Man,
- 0:59Speaker 3: it was out as heck. I'm mad that I haven't
- 1:02Speaker 3: been watching the game from where I watched them past
- 1:05Speaker 3: two games in fun place and being able to listen
- 1:07Speaker 3: to Rabel and wind In do their thing as well.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Now it's been great, man. It was a fun ride
- 1:12Speaker 3: and nice seat. The dude celebrate Yeah, no, I mean everybody,
- 1:14Speaker 3: it's been earned. We've talked about all year.
- 1:16Speaker 2: All three phases of the game needed to play the
- 1:18Speaker 2: way they did to get over the Rams. The Rams
- 1:20Speaker 2: were a great team. Yeah, they are a great team,
- 1:22Speaker 2: and it was on display. But it was a great
- 1:24Speaker 2: game where he jump right into it. What had happened,
- 1:28Speaker 2: See what had happened was what had happened at first
- 1:31Speaker 2: was what had happened was on Hawk talk for me, Bobby,
- 1:35Speaker 2: I thought it was hard to top the atmosphere from
- 1:38Speaker 2: the divisional playoff game. It had been more than ten
- 1:40Speaker 2: years since the Seahawks hosted a playoff game with fans
- 1:42Speaker 2: and the Niner game was rocking. Obviously, Seahawks whoop up
- 1:45Speaker 2: on the Niners. But this this on Sunday, it was
- 1:48Speaker 2: an up a notch. I mean you said it. People
- 1:50Speaker 2: were in their seats early. And here's how we knew.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We host our pregame show in Ticketmaster tailgate. There was
- 1:55Speaker 2: a ton of people there. It was a daily good atmosphere.
- 1:58Speaker 2: And then about forty minutes before kicks, not even over,
- 2:00Speaker 2: usually people are hanging out, it was empty in the
- 2:03Speaker 2: event set, completely empty because sixty eight thousand plus sixty
- 2:07Speaker 2: nine thousand were in their seats ready to go for kickoff.
- 2:09Speaker 2: It was pretty awesome. So, yeah, the game Seahawks had
- 2:12Speaker 2: a tone right away. I heard you say it on
- 2:13Speaker 2: the show last night. This morning, they threw the first
- 2:15Speaker 2: punch as the Seahawks. They forced with three and a
- 2:17Speaker 2: half for the Rams on the first possession, which is huge,
- 2:20Speaker 2: and then they go on their own seven plays eighty
- 2:22Speaker 2: one yards and with two York touchdown for ken Walker
- 2:24Speaker 2: that made the score seven zero. That was set up
- 2:26Speaker 2: by a long pass fifty one yards to Rashi. Shihed
- 2:28Speaker 2: you've been calling for that all season long, and then
- 2:30Speaker 2: some tough runs by ken Walker, so they jumped out
- 2:32Speaker 2: seven to nothing.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yeah, Cannin set the tone. Rashi went up top of it.
- 2:35Speaker 3: But the Rams will respond. They go six plays forty
- 2:37Speaker 3: seven yards, had to settle for a field goal, and
- 2:39Speaker 3: then the next two drives with ending field goals. With
- 2:41Speaker 3: the Seahawks taking a ten to six lead, the Hawks
- 2:44Speaker 3: will punt on the next drive and the Rams will
- 2:46Speaker 3: put together their best drive of the day, going twelve
- 2:48Speaker 3: plays eighty seven yards in with a nine yard touchdown
- 2:50Speaker 3: to Kainen Wins that made the score thirteen to ten.
- 2:54Speaker 3: The first time the Seahawks have trailed in the game
- 2:55Speaker 3: since Week sixteen against these Rams.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Yeah, the Seahawks have been up.
- 2:59Speaker 2: The Rams are the only team to have really any
- 3:01Speaker 2: kind of success against this dark side defense. So the
- 3:03Speaker 2: Seahawks are down. Next two drives in the punts Seahawks,
- 3:06Speaker 2: though they get the ball back fifty four seconds. This
- 3:08Speaker 2: was a huge drive in the game. Seam Darnold finds
- 3:11Speaker 2: Jasn for a forty two yard game and found him
- 3:13Speaker 2: again fourteen yard touchdown. We'll break that down later, but
- 3:15Speaker 2: the Seahawks go into halftime up seventeen to thirteen. Huge
- 3:19Speaker 2: played again on not just get three to get seven
- 3:21Speaker 2: points before halftime, and every point mattered in this game.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Seehs got the ball in the third quarter coming out
- 3:26Speaker 3: the tunnel, but they had to punt Michael Dixon man
- 3:28Speaker 3: he kicked a moon ball in the returner Xavier Smith
- 3:32Speaker 3: fell down, dropped the ball, Toreeke Young recovered it.
- 3:35Speaker 1: He bobbled one earlier, right, so we were.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Kind of looking back there like all right, just kind
- 3:38Speaker 3: of shaking this pump return game and Young doing exactly
- 3:41Speaker 3: what's supposed to do. Special teams like you talking about
- 3:43Speaker 3: all three phases. Once again, special team comes up with
- 3:46Speaker 3: a big play. On the next play, Sam Donald will
- 3:47Speaker 3: find Jake Bubble seventeen yard touchdown. Great route by Jake
- 3:51Speaker 3: Bubble moving that safety that made it twenty four to thirteen.
- 3:53Speaker 1: We'll have to see Jake Bubble getting involved.
- 3:54Speaker 2: He had a big catch against the Niners on a
- 3:56Speaker 2: third down which kept the drive going fresh on him
- 3:58Speaker 2: on the corovisional and we get a touchdown in that situation.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Is great, Bump. You were a returner though. I mean,
- 4:04Speaker 2: once you bobble the first one, is it hard to
- 4:06Speaker 2: battle back.
- 4:07Speaker 3: It's in your head, man. And it was his approach too,
- 4:11Speaker 3: Like you saw the back pedal. I could tell when
- 4:13Speaker 3: a return is uncomfortable. The arms get wide, the feet
- 4:15Speaker 3: get a little happy, like look at shithe when he
- 4:18Speaker 3: catches a pumper turn smooth as heck. But uh yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I felt for that man in that moment because I
- 4:23Speaker 3: have dropped a punt in this league.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But no, for the Hawks, it was all gravy.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Oh boy, that just oh man, that tough moment for him,
- 4:30Speaker 2: But the Seahawks benefited after that though.
- 4:32Speaker 1: The Rams quickly answer. They would write down the field.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Bump answered quickly four plays Staffer find Devonte Adams for
- 4:37Speaker 2: two yard touchdown. A couple of big plays throughout that drive.
- 4:39Speaker 2: That made it twenty four to twenty. So you know
- 4:41Speaker 2: it's still a tight game. You're not feeling great at
- 4:42Speaker 2: the moment. The Hawks would answer again though, going nine
- 4:45Speaker 2: plays sixty five yards anyone, a thirteen yard touchdown, A
- 4:47Speaker 2: Cooper Cup going a third and three from the thirteen
- 4:49Speaker 2: yard line will break that down as well.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That made the score thirty one to twenty. But that moment,
- 4:53Speaker 1: you're feeling pretty good.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you're feeling great, man, And especially for Coop Cooper
- 4:56Speaker 3: Cup getting it against his old team, getting up field,
- 4:58Speaker 3: scoring that touchdown.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I was great.
- 5:00Speaker 3: On the falling drive, it looked like Red made the
- 5:03Speaker 3: game ceiling pass breakup over pooking a cool in great position.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I should have picked that thing off honestly, but unfortunately
- 5:10Speaker 3: he was called for Tomson Penley, which gave the Rams
- 5:12Speaker 3: an automatic first down. That blew my mind. I texted you,
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'm sitting here watching. I'm like, hold on, just don't
- 5:16Speaker 3: make sense. I'll sit here with Lofa. I'm like, all right.
- 5:19Speaker 3: That was after the play. It shouldn't affect the result.
- 5:22Speaker 3: It was after the play penalized. I saw, Yeah, it
- 5:25Speaker 3: made sense. I knew the rule, but I had to
- 5:26Speaker 3: double check. I'm like, am I seeing this right? And
- 5:29Speaker 3: on the next play they went after went up top
- 5:30Speaker 3: thirty four yard touchdown. We knew Pooka was gonna do
- 5:32Speaker 3: his thame. That made the score thirty one to twenty seven.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that was top tough sequence obviously for twenty seven
- 5:37Speaker 2: there And that's a tough.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Part of this rule book we learned last year.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I believe it was that even if you have a
- 5:44Speaker 2: if one teams five hour penalty, you have a fifteen
- 5:46Speaker 2: yard penalty. They don't just offset. They enforced a fifteen
- 5:48Speaker 2: yard penalty. Some things are unfortunate that hurt the Seahawks.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So again it's a four point game, and the Seahawks
- 5:53Speaker 2: would punt on the next drive, giving the ball back
- 5:55Speaker 2: to the Rams, so you might if you weren't nervous before,
- 5:58Speaker 2: you might start feeling a little bit nervous.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And the Rams were having success.
- 6:01Speaker 2: They go on a crazy drive drive all the way
- 6:02Speaker 2: down to the Seahawks six yard line. And this was
- 6:05Speaker 2: a game start to finish. I don't think it was
- 6:07Speaker 2: Withers through his best game. He gave up some plays,
- 6:10Speaker 2: and honestly, not because he was getting beat. He slipped
- 6:12Speaker 2: on a couple, just some really weird, weird plays because
- 6:15Speaker 2: we know how good of a player he is, but
- 6:17Speaker 2: he has the memory as a corner. You have to
- 6:18Speaker 2: forget everything he locks in game season on the line
- 6:22Speaker 2: come up with two clutch pass breakups on third down
- 6:24Speaker 2: and then one and fourth down. I thought he's going
- 6:26Speaker 2: to pick that one off as well. So a huge
- 6:27Speaker 2: play from Reek and that kind of set the Seahawks up.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Man. That was great.
- 6:32Speaker 3: The receiver had to play defense because Spoon was in
- 6:36Speaker 3: such a great position on that play. The Hawks will
- 6:38Speaker 3: go on eleven play forty nine yard drive that essentially
- 6:40Speaker 3: ended the game.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Amazing play calls with great execution.
- 6:44Speaker 3: They were clutched man the third and seventh compvision at
- 6:46Speaker 3: Cooper Cup, Fortune our pass jays in they were huge.
- 6:49Speaker 3: The Hawks will pum back to the Rams with twenty
- 6:51Speaker 3: five seconds left. Hawks bled the court. The time out
- 6:54Speaker 3: man four minutes and twenty nine seconds off the clock.
- 6:57Speaker 3: That's almost like scoring in that situation. You know, you
- 7:00Speaker 3: only give the twenty five seconds and the RAM didn't
- 7:01Speaker 3: have any timeouts.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and I can't stress this enough.
- 7:05Speaker 2: The credit we should give to Clint Kubiak because a
- 7:07Speaker 2: lot of people, myself included, I'm safe. I'm like, hey,
- 7:11Speaker 2: run the ball, run the ball, run the ball. Okay,
- 7:12Speaker 2: use your timeouts and you punt there. Maybe the Rams
- 7:14Speaker 2: a better field position. There's a ele of a drive
- 7:16Speaker 2: right there. Last drive though from the Rams. They get
- 7:18Speaker 2: the ball back twenty five seconds. Stafford defines Nakua for
- 7:21Speaker 2: a twenty plus yard game and finds the cool again,
- 7:24Speaker 2: but he has tackled in bounds. There was not enough
- 7:26Speaker 2: Timelincke they had no timeouts. Once I saw the ref
- 7:28Speaker 2: doing this, celebration commenced. Everyone's running on the field. It
- 7:32Speaker 2: was pretty Now I've been here. This my tenth season
- 7:34Speaker 2: with the Hawks. Obviously I've been around so I was
- 7:36Speaker 2: working in the media. I was working for Seattle Sports
- 7:38Speaker 2: when they won the football the first time, but to
- 7:40Speaker 2: be with this organization when it's going.
- 7:41Speaker 1: To another Super Bowl, unreal feeling.
- 7:43Speaker 2: If you hear Rabels final call, he is talking about
- 7:47Speaker 2: the coaches are breaking down the glass. Yeah, that was
- 7:49Speaker 2: actually me. I was behind him. We lost our mind.
- 7:53Speaker 2: We're picking up sharing the see Rabel's lovely wife. And
- 7:56Speaker 2: it was a hell of a moment just to experience
- 7:58Speaker 2: that with all the boys up there.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But Bump.
- 8:01Speaker 2: When you look at these stats, though, I was kind
- 8:03Speaker 2: of like, it's shocking, really.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 2: The first one is Rams out gaining the Seahawks four
- 8:06Speaker 2: seventy nine or three ninety six. They rushed in one
- 8:08Speaker 2: of fourteen to seventy five and had eight point three
- 8:11Speaker 2: yards per play twenty six first down Seahawks twenty four.
- 8:14Speaker 2: If you only saw those stats, you're thinking the Rams
- 8:16Speaker 2: probably win this. I won't say convincingly, but probably by
- 8:20Speaker 2: seven plus.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah at least. Yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 3: You look at those numbers and that's was so crazy
- 8:25Speaker 3: about this matchup. The numbers don't make sense when you
- 8:27Speaker 3: match up. The result is crazy. But the big one
- 8:30Speaker 3: the Rams were one for eight on third down, Paws
- 8:32Speaker 3: for seven to thirteen, so they're give them these explosives.
- 8:34Speaker 3: They're they're driving the football down the field, but when
- 8:36Speaker 3: it comes with they're down. They just weren't able to convert.
- 8:38Speaker 3: But they did still put up some points. Weird game.
- 8:41Speaker 3: That's why when people just want to read stats to
- 8:43Speaker 3: me and tell me about the game, yeah, I'm like, nah,
- 8:45Speaker 3: you gotta go watch the game.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Man. The stats don't tell the full story.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Sometimes they line up, but in a situation like this,
- 8:49Speaker 3: sometimes they don't.
- 8:51Speaker 1: No, no, no question about it.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I mean, like I said earlier, the Rams are the
- 8:53Speaker 2: only team to find success against this defense. But again,
- 8:56Speaker 2: when it came down to it, when they needed, the
- 8:58Speaker 2: Seahawks made to play in all three phases the game.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And I don't was there anything else to really learn
- 9:03Speaker 2: about the Seahawks bump We've been doing.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Us a long time.
- 9:05Speaker 3: No, man, complete, they're a complete team with Hey, you
- 9:08Speaker 3: know we did learn Get off of Sam.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Come on now, get off of Sam man.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Goodness, gracious, I love Sam is a great human being,
- 9:16Speaker 2: always has been, always will be. I can't believe he's
- 9:18Speaker 2: that humble. If I heard people talking about me the
- 9:21Speaker 2: way they talk about him all the time. For him
- 9:23Speaker 2: to go out there and just do the right thing. Hey,
- 9:24Speaker 2: it's about my teammates do everything because that's who he is. Yeah, Sam,
- 9:27Speaker 2: you're a better man than yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:30Speaker 1: That is a lot of people making plays. All games
- 9:33Speaker 1: get into playmakers touch same playmakers to him? What time?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Oh wait, Cap, We'll start with the guy. We're just
- 9:45Speaker 2: talking about, Sam freaking Darnold. Twenty five and thirty six,
- 9:48Speaker 2: three hundred and forty six hours, three touchdowns, zero interceptions,
- 9:51Speaker 2: Q rating up one twenty seven point eight second playoff
- 9:54Speaker 2: win man.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Like yo stuff exactly. It's it's nonsense.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Literally makes no sense to me when he were literally
- 10:02Speaker 2: grading him on two games. The last two games apparently
- 10:05Speaker 2: in Minnesota decided his future.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Everything about him. There's nothing he could do.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And I'm killing some time because I saw a stat
- 10:12Speaker 2: that I want to bring up about Sam Donald because
- 10:14Speaker 2: of what he was able to do on Sunday. He's
- 10:17Speaker 2: one of the best performances ever in a conference championship game.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I just saw this and I'm starring and I finally
- 10:24Speaker 2: found it.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Sam Donald had the fourth best passer rating ever in
- 10:29Speaker 2: the history of a conference championship Wow, only behind Nick.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Foles one for one point four.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Matt Ryan won thirty nine point four, Dan Marino won
- 10:39Speaker 2: thirty five point four, and then Sam Donald won twenty
- 10:41Speaker 2: seven point eight, just edging out Patrick Mahomes. Was obviously
- 10:45Speaker 2: a Hall of Famer, So there's no I don't know
- 10:47Speaker 2: what else you need to say about Sam Donald.
- 10:48Speaker 1: You're obviously here.
- 10:49Speaker 2: We've known that all season about you, your special I
- 10:52Speaker 2: just love for that moment to play as well as
- 10:54Speaker 2: he did as clean. No one could say, well the defense, no, no,
- 10:57Speaker 2: Sam doesn't play that well, You're not in the Super Bowl.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Man.
- 10:59Speaker 3: He took some too standing in the pocket, throwing the football,
- 11:02Speaker 3: being accurate, taking his chances. There's probably only one throw
- 11:05Speaker 3: where it kind of made me nervous. I throw to
- 11:07Speaker 3: Cooper Cup in the slot little early in the game.
- 11:09Speaker 3: But other than that, I felt great about Sam. Sam,
- 11:12Speaker 3: you demand one more game, Let's go. Ken Walker nineteen
- 11:15Speaker 3: carries sixty two yards, one touchdown, four receptions for forty
- 11:18Speaker 3: nine yards. Look, he was the first guy off the bus.
- 11:22Speaker 3: We were handing him the football in that first drive,
- 11:24Speaker 3: and it just looked different. He looks so much more confident.
- 11:27Speaker 3: And then probably the juke of the season in the
- 11:30Speaker 3: middle of the field, a gap stats making a grown
- 11:34Speaker 3: man cross his legs and be all out of position.
- 11:37Speaker 3: K nine was great. Man made some clutch receptions. He
- 11:40Speaker 3: set the tongue, Oh.
- 11:41Speaker 2: No question about it. And I love him. He's dangerous
- 11:43Speaker 2: in the past game. I think that's the most underrated
- 11:44Speaker 2: part about his game. That route he ran I failed
- 11:47Speaker 2: with the down diation was it was third down? Like
- 11:48Speaker 2: that's a receiver route and it's not a running back
- 11:50Speaker 2: running that route. Yeah, like that was ken Walker. You're
- 11:53Speaker 2: doing your thing. Love to see it. And then of
- 11:54Speaker 2: course who were talking about all year Jackson Smith and
- 11:57Speaker 2: Jigba Keen receptions one hundred and fifty three yards, one touchdown, amazing,
- 12:01Speaker 2: one handed catch games of sixteen, ten, forty.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Two, fourteen, twelve, fourteen. We know he's an absolute dog.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Passed Justin Jefferson for the most receiving yards by player
- 12:09Speaker 2: twenty three years or younger throughout including the playoffs. Fifth
- 12:13Speaker 2: player to have ten receptions one hundred and fifty yards
- 12:16Speaker 2: in a touchdown in a conference championship game, joining Julio Jones,
- 12:19Speaker 2: Pierre Garson, I Killered and Michael Irving had one hundred
- 12:22Speaker 2: and fifteen yards at halftime.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Jason has been a dog all year. Love to see
- 12:25Speaker 3: him display that on the biggest stage. Yeah, it was
- 12:28Speaker 3: a battle he had to. We knew Pu was gonna
- 12:30Speaker 3: do his thing, so Jason has a show. It was
- 12:31Speaker 3: fun seeing the two best receivers in a game go
- 12:33Speaker 3: at it for the show and then the og Cooper
- 12:35Speaker 3: Cup Man four receptions, thirty six yards, one touchdown, Man blocks.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I mean, if we could put a highlight of just
- 12:41Speaker 3: him blocking man, I mean, he's been so essential to
- 12:43Speaker 3: this run game and he got the ball out against
- 12:46Speaker 3: his former team and score touchdown and send them home
- 12:49Speaker 3: while he's going to the Super Bowl.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I mean, you can't draw it up any better. And
- 12:52Speaker 2: I've heard Jake Bob Will talk about it. He referenced it.
- 12:54Speaker 2: He went to the Cooper Cup School of blocking to learn.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Cooper Cup is not a physically imposing man when you
- 12:58Speaker 2: see him, but this dude is one of the best
- 13:00Speaker 2: blocking receivers in the National Football League. If you're a
- 13:03Speaker 2: receiver and you want to know how to do it,
- 13:05Speaker 2: put his tape on it. I'll promise you that's how
- 13:07Speaker 2: you do it. Keep it in the receivers. Rashik Shaheed Man,
- 13:10Speaker 2: he just makes finds a way to make a big
- 13:12Speaker 2: play almost every game, yep, every time you leave the game.
- 13:15Speaker 2: He at some point he found a way to make
- 13:16Speaker 2: his imprint on it. Now it's on that first drive
- 13:18Speaker 2: setting the tone. One reception fifty one yards and I think, honestly, defensively,
- 13:22Speaker 2: that changes how you defend us. If Rashisha Heat is
- 13:25Speaker 2: also a deep threat in that and it completely changes.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I think we'll talk about in the film Breakdown. I
- 13:30Speaker 2: think Rashik Shah Heat is impacting plays, sets up up
- 13:33Speaker 2: for JSA and the Cooper Cup as well.
- 13:34Speaker 1: So great to he thinks from him.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yes, like once you once you touch the stove once
- 13:38Speaker 3: and it's hot, you ain't gonna touch again. That's just
- 13:40Speaker 3: Heat is like, all right, man, he didn't burn you now,
- 13:42Speaker 3: so you'd better be careful. Uh Nicki Munwari five tackles,
- 13:46Speaker 3: three passes defended, and the way that he covered was beautiful.
- 13:51Speaker 3: He had a pass break up against Avantie Adams. He
- 13:54Speaker 3: had one against uh Puking. The cool one was an out,
- 13:57Speaker 3: the other one was a crossing route. I think pff
- 13:59Speaker 3: great to him, the high graded defender in that game.
- 14:02Speaker 3: He was like, for it's crazy because we were talking
- 14:04Speaker 3: about what I think Nest Jen put out a stat
- 14:07Speaker 3: that he's given up the most yards, yeah for catching
- 14:09Speaker 3: the team, and we're scratching our heads like what's going on.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I don't I don't see that.
- 14:13Speaker 3: And then for him to play the way he did
- 14:14Speaker 3: it just really made me want to throw that stat away.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Oh thousand percent. And honestly, it just every time he
- 14:20Speaker 2: seemed to do something's reaffirming. And the Seahawks went out
- 14:22Speaker 2: and got him because he was a game changer everyone
- 14:24Speaker 2: kind of early on one and to just say camp
- 14:26Speaker 2: Chancellor because of his size, but he two camp Chancellor
- 14:30Speaker 2: as the potential Hall of Famer as well, two completely
- 14:32Speaker 2: different players, amazing in their own right, but you know,
- 14:34Speaker 2: probably Ring of Honor members when it's all said and done.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Sticking on defense and Marcus Lawrence two tackles, one TfL,
- 14:40Speaker 2: one sack, one QB hit. The first time we in
- 14:42Speaker 2: sacked Matthew Staffords is like twenty twenty three. Man, it's
- 14:44Speaker 2: been a long time, long time. So de La again consistent.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I love it for him too. Who's down there in Dallas. Sorry,
- 14:50Speaker 2: my homie Trevor. Y'all ain't winning him and he can't
- 14:54Speaker 2: comes here, and he was he was upfront about it.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He was talking about this. He talked about his goal
- 14:58Speaker 2: being the super Bowl when the season started in through
- 15:00Speaker 2: all that process, he I think it was who he's texting.
- 15:03Speaker 1: There's a text right out there with death Bryant.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's telling him like, I think we can
- 15:07Speaker 2: go to super Bowl this other stuff, and they're like,
- 15:09Speaker 2: no way.
- 15:09Speaker 1: He knew the whole time.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I just I love hearing stories like that because their
- 15:12Speaker 2: message has never changed. It's been consistent, and de Las
- 15:15Speaker 2: is a huge reason why the Seahawks are still playing.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Love seeing him with his family on the field had
- 15:19Speaker 3: that moment too. Man, That's what it's about. It's been
- 15:21Speaker 3: a long he's been this league, in this league a
- 15:23Speaker 3: long time, and I had to be so sweet. And
- 15:25Speaker 3: then Spoon six tackles, two passes defended. Like you said,
- 15:28Speaker 3: he gave up a couple of plays early, but then
- 15:30Speaker 3: locked it in afterwards. Again great playing the end zone
- 15:32Speaker 3: to kind of steal this thame Spoon. He's uh, he's
- 15:35Speaker 3: a Pro Bowl for a reason.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Absolutely. I mean all pro change him now. He's both.
- 15:42Speaker 1: But you see from the receivers, all right.
- 15:43Speaker 3: You know we talked about the JCN he had ten
- 15:45Speaker 3: for one to fifty three, ten on twelve targets. I
- 15:47Speaker 3: think that's important too. Man efficient. Rashid had that big,
- 15:51Speaker 3: big target for fifty one yards. Yet Ken Walker four
- 15:53Speaker 3: for forty nine, Cooper Cup four for thirty.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Six and a touchdown.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Bobo had won for seventeen and a touchdown at George Allotti. Man,
- 15:59Speaker 3: he played a good game. They have thirty sevens for
- 16:01Speaker 3: twenty seven yards. He was good with the pass pro
- 16:03Speaker 3: as well. A. J. Barney had two for thirteen.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, shoutout Hallani who hasn't played for a long time
- 16:08Speaker 2: to get back in there. Now we're going to our
- 16:10Speaker 2: favorite segment plays of the game, and I feel like
- 16:13Speaker 2: Bump was really gonna educate you right here. How Clint
- 16:15Speaker 2: Kobiak is just a wizard drawing up these plays getting
- 16:19Speaker 2: people open.
- 16:19Speaker 1: We're gonna find this play we're gonna do.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Sam Donold hooking up with JSN for a fourteen yard touchdown.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Comes into the backfield, Sam out of the shotgun, looks steps, throws.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Back, Carter cuts down, shayhawks j f N on the
- 16:37Speaker 5: left side wide open, and you'll love to see defensive
- 16:42Speaker 5: facts stop and look at each other and say, who
- 16:45Speaker 5: the hell was supposed to cover here.
- 16:47Speaker 6: He was wide open from fourteen out head. The Seahawks
- 16:51Speaker 6: retake the lead sixteen to thirteen.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Now something tells me, Coopy, I can watch film and say,
- 16:56Speaker 3: you know what, when we get down here in this situation,
- 16:59Speaker 3: we're probably gonna get quarters, and how can I get
- 17:02Speaker 3: a matchup? And he designs it beautifully. Jayson starts on
- 17:04Speaker 3: the right side, lines up in the backfield. So let's
- 17:07Speaker 3: look at the two high safeties. And you got your
- 17:09Speaker 3: corners who were playing d That makes me believe that
- 17:11Speaker 3: his quarter. So now if you got your flat defender
- 17:13Speaker 3: right inside of Rashid Shahib, what's gonna happen here is
- 17:17Speaker 3: Cooper cup is gonna run the out. The out is
- 17:19Speaker 3: gonna take care of the flat defender, is gonna expand
- 17:21Speaker 3: him and widen him, giving a clear lane for JSM.
- 17:24Speaker 3: You got Rashis Shaheed up top, He's gonna run the post,
- 17:26Speaker 3: taking the safety and the corner with him. That's where
- 17:29Speaker 3: they jacked up miscommunication right there. Now you look at
- 17:32Speaker 3: a linebacker, he's looking at JSN as he releases off
- 17:34Speaker 3: the back field. He thinks he has help over the top,
- 17:37Speaker 3: so he's not too worried about him, but because he
- 17:39Speaker 3: was widening out, the flat defender was widen out by
- 17:41Speaker 3: Cooper Cup and Rashis Shahi took two guys with him.
- 17:44Speaker 3: This leaves JSM wide open. Kubiak new, I'm gonna put
- 17:48Speaker 3: Duces Douce out there. He's gonna run that post, attract
- 17:51Speaker 3: all that attention, and I'm gonna get my guy jaysn
- 17:54Speaker 3: essentially one on one with a linebacker who's in his zone.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That's gonna let him go wide open. Kubiak was in
- 17:59Speaker 1: his here. Absolutely, this is a tough play at quarters.
- 18:03Speaker 2: You know, as a former secondary member, I love quarters coverage,
- 18:06Speaker 2: especially in the aggressive in the run, especially in the
- 18:09Speaker 2: red zone. But things happened really quick here. Putting him
- 18:11Speaker 2: in the backfield almost feels like he's a running back.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I feel like if the Rams are breaking down this film,
- 18:15Speaker 2: they'd be like, guys, we gotta pay. We got to
- 18:17Speaker 2: look at the personnel. Who's where I think not locking
- 18:20Speaker 2: in at eleven is the one in the backfield, because yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 2: if you only have one deep threat, the corner into
- 18:25Speaker 2: safety are going to take that. It's almost like a seam,
- 18:27Speaker 2: so you're gonna double cover that boom but because things
- 18:29Speaker 2: happen so quickly, and because Jasen is running from depth,
- 18:32Speaker 2: both corner safety lock into ras sheet and he's wide open,
- 18:35Speaker 2: and the linebacker Lanman, he's in a really he's in
- 18:38Speaker 2: a tough spot because he's thinking, well, I have a
- 18:40Speaker 2: safety in a corner over. Maybe he gets hands on
- 18:43Speaker 2: but he's like, oh no, I gotta help. I don't
- 18:44Speaker 2: need to do anything with that. I'm not man to man.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And then then that leads to wide open touchdown. And
- 18:48Speaker 2: that's just like again, that is film room. That is
- 18:51Speaker 2: hours and hours of watching tape, how they line up,
- 18:53Speaker 2: how many times they do this in the red zone
- 18:55Speaker 2: tendencies and then offensive line that hold up just long
- 18:58Speaker 2: enough for Sam Darnold to get in there and pushed
- 19:00Speaker 2: out at the Sam darnld for I mean this defensive
- 19:04Speaker 2: line when they're bearing down on you and just be
- 19:06Speaker 2: able to keep your eyes up and never you know,
- 19:08Speaker 2: because stuff happened at his feet eventually gets hit, but
- 19:11Speaker 2: he does his thing into the end zone touchdown JSN.
- 19:15Speaker 2: This next plays got it feels sweet for the man.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Cooper Cup so excited for him. Sam Donald bus Cooper
- 19:20Speaker 2: Cup thirteen yard touchdown.
- 19:22Speaker 4: A lot of this shotgun. Here comes the four man
- 19:24Speaker 4: Rams rush. Sam steps up, throws back inside cup, make.
- 19:27Speaker 5: The catch, touchdown, Sayhawks.
- 19:31Speaker 6: The former Ram Super Bowl MVP, now the Seahawks. And
- 19:37Speaker 6: he has another big catch thirteen yards and a touchdown.
- 19:42Speaker 6: This is a guy who's used to making big plays
- 19:45Speaker 6: at the biggest moments, and there's none bigger than tonight
- 19:48Speaker 6: the NFC Championship. Seahawks now lead again by ten thirty one.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Make it thirty to twenty again.
- 19:56Speaker 3: You're just challenging the responsibilities of the secondary all day
- 19:59Speaker 3: down here. I like this too. You got trips to
- 20:01Speaker 3: the right side of Sam Darnold. You have Cooper Cup
- 20:04Speaker 3: at the number one spot. Deuce deuce at the number
- 20:06Speaker 3: two spot. I mean, you have Jason at the number three.
- 20:09Speaker 3: What I like about this is it's a cover three.
- 20:11Speaker 3: You got three D, right, you pause it a little bit.
- 20:13Speaker 3: You got three D from the back end. What I
- 20:14Speaker 3: like about is one Cooper cups released. I'm gonna widen
- 20:17Speaker 3: them up to create space because he knows he wants
- 20:19Speaker 3: to attack that area between where Rashid Shahid is actually running,
- 20:22Speaker 3: all right, So he widens them up, takes a flat
- 20:25Speaker 3: different with him. Now you have Shahed running the corner
- 20:28Speaker 3: all right, that corner in that it's kind of like
- 20:30Speaker 3: what you just described on the Cover four. That corner
- 20:32Speaker 3: in that safety. They got to communicate, right, it's cover three.
- 20:35Speaker 3: You got to protect the seams. I gotta get depth
- 20:37Speaker 3: with deuce deuce, And then you look at jsm. Jason
- 20:40Speaker 3: runs like a delay, right, he stops around five and
- 20:42Speaker 3: then he's running across the field. You are going to
- 20:44Speaker 3: react when Jason is running across the field.
- 20:46Speaker 1: That opens up the hole for Cooper Cup right there.
- 20:48Speaker 3: So you combine Jaysn running across the field with Cooper
- 20:51Speaker 3: Cups widening released to open up that hole, and then
- 20:54Speaker 3: Rashid holding the safety and taking the corner with him.
- 20:56Speaker 3: You got number of space and opportunity. And then on
- 20:58Speaker 3: the other side you got your tight end who's right
- 21:00Speaker 3: in like a dagger or a dig, so that attracts
- 21:02Speaker 3: both safeties as well. This is why you run your
- 21:04Speaker 3: routes hard and you get the proper depth because you're
- 21:06Speaker 3: gonna get all the space and opportunity. You get Tim
- 21:09Speaker 3: who sits right there in the gap, gets north south bam.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Beautiful design, beautiful spacing.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and I love and I have much to add there.
- 21:17Speaker 2: I mean, darnold though, I just love you. Look at
- 21:19Speaker 2: the end zone clip going through his progressions. Boom, He's
- 21:22Speaker 2: looking over at Barner ken Walker on that side, boom
- 21:25Speaker 2: JS and flashing war boom.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Cooper Cup.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what his progression was and
- 21:29Speaker 2: where if he was going to cut the entire time,
- 21:31Speaker 2: but he plays games with the secondary, so all of
- 21:33Speaker 2: them are their eyes are influenced throughout the route, and
- 21:36Speaker 2: then of course Cooper Cup.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Please prove me if I'm wrong, Internet, if I've seen
- 21:41Speaker 2: a play where Cooper Cup made a catch and was
- 21:44Speaker 2: tackled immediately by the first defender, right, it just doesn't happen.
- 21:47Speaker 2: His yak is out of this world, and he's just
- 21:50Speaker 2: a tough dude. For him to do that against his
- 21:52Speaker 2: former team, you know, he's a dude that I'm sure
- 21:55Speaker 2: is going to be in their Hall of Fame and
- 21:56Speaker 2: all that stuff eventually, but you know, to be let
- 21:59Speaker 2: go at the end. For him to do that against
- 22:00Speaker 2: them to go to the Super Bowl, I mean, he
- 22:02Speaker 2: can't write a better script than that. NFL scriptwriters, you
- 22:05Speaker 2: were on it this year, you were on It's all right,
- 22:08Speaker 2: that sets up our favorite donation this one for the
- 22:13Speaker 2: first time. I mean, you bumped sending the Seahawks to
- 22:15Speaker 2: the Super Bowl.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 22:20Speaker 6: Vikings defense trutching out there knowing that one kneel down
- 22:26Speaker 6: and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Down and win this one.
- 22:29Speaker 2: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk to quote coach
- 22:33Speaker 2: Mike McDonald, Yeah, we did not care. It's about us.
- 22:37Speaker 2: It's always been about us, and we do what we do.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Now we're going to the super Bowl. Come on, coach.
- 22:43Speaker 1: It's been that way all year, nine straight weeks.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Decisive, relentless, shocking, earned every opportunity, earned the right to
- 22:49Speaker 2: be there.
- 22:49Speaker 1: They are like that bump man. Come on, coach, that's
- 22:54Speaker 1: got to be so satisfying man.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Second year in the game, John Schneider, big us putting
- 22:57Speaker 3: this team together, Mike having the mission right man, and
- 23:01Speaker 3: big up to our guys. Sam Darnold shut all the
- 23:03Speaker 3: haters up. Twenty five to thirty six, three forty six,
- 23:06Speaker 3: three touchdowns, no interceptions, took care of that football who
- 23:10Speaker 3: says he can't win a big game. K nine one
- 23:12Speaker 3: hundred and eleven total yards, in a touchdown Jason one
- 23:14Speaker 3: hundred and fifty three to ten receptions. Everyone who needed
- 23:17Speaker 3: to do something did something on that night. Everybody, let's go.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I mean, seriously, I have no words. I'm just I
- 23:24Speaker 3: can't even talk right now because everyone helps so much.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Jayson offensive line, Cooper Coup, Derek Young pick a person
- 23:29Speaker 3: on either side of the ball. In special teams, they contributed.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Coach talks about it being seventy that concludes the practice squad.
- 23:35Speaker 3: So that started in the week in preparation getting to
- 23:37Speaker 3: this moment. He had Ricky White, who is he going
- 23:38Speaker 3: to be poking the cool this week in practice? He's
- 23:40Speaker 3: going to be this Everyone plays a role in this
- 23:43Speaker 3: building to get the Seahawks where they were at Spoon
- 23:46Speaker 3: doing his thing defensively. I just love that it's been
- 23:48Speaker 3: such a consistent message from all these guys. They were
- 23:50Speaker 3: I'm talking about this game being bigger than any opportunity.
- 23:53Speaker 1: It's the next one. Well guess what the next one
- 23:56Speaker 1: bump is in. I'm mclara, I got my ticket.
- 23:59Speaker 3: All rdy, let's go come on against the New England Patriots.
- 24:03Speaker 3: We can, you know, exercise some of the Super Bowl
- 24:05Speaker 3: forty nine demons there a perfect trio of how the
- 24:08Speaker 3: Seahawks got there. And the part that I like the
- 24:11Speaker 3: most is you have an opportunity to go in to
- 24:15Speaker 3: won your rival's house in a house and win.
- 24:18Speaker 1: A trophy in their building. That bump is forever. Okay,
- 24:23Speaker 1: that is forever. Come on, baby, going to the super Bowl.
- 24:26Speaker 1: We'll get you ready for the super Bowl bump wherever.
- 24:28Speaker 1: We'll be down there for a week. It's gonna be great.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Lots of content coming your way. Check all the Seahawks channels.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Seahawks beat the Rams, We're going to the super Bowl.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's Michael Bump and some NASA choby. This has been
- 24:37Speaker 1: Hawk Talk.
