- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, everyone, Welcome back to another episode up Star Wars Alliance,
- 0:23Speaker 2: your homeowny cultimate alliance podcast network for any and all
- 0:26Speaker 2: things Star Wars. I'm your host as always, and I
- 0:29Speaker 2: am sad because I no longer have Star Wars decor
- 0:31Speaker 2: on my shelves because I had to pack it on
- 0:34Speaker 2: up for moving purposes. So sad Hi Clay, Hello, you're
- 0:41Speaker 2: doing today good.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I was a little bit of a negligent Star Wars host,
- 0:49Speaker 3: and right before we hit live, we both watched the trailer,
- 0:53Speaker 3: you for a second time and me for the very
- 0:55Speaker 3: first time. Yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I was a slacker too because I'm no longer on Twitter,
- 1:00Speaker 2: which has been so good for my mental health, but
- 1:04Speaker 2: I miss a lot of stuff.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Now, So so I have thoughts about the trailer. We
- 1:12Speaker 3: will talk about it, but as anybody can see the
- 1:17Speaker 3: talk of the town now, the one real piece of
- 1:21Speaker 3: news that we actually got is the fact that the
- 1:28Speaker 3: hunt for Been Solo may not have ever had a
- 1:32Speaker 3: real chance. And I lie. There is actually two things
- 1:38Speaker 3: of news here that I see in Star Wars Alliance,
- 1:42Speaker 3: but I don't know. I was gonna say, Katie, you
- 1:45Speaker 3: would know about it, so we will talk about the trailer.
- 1:49Speaker 3: We will talk about this been solo news, But one
- 1:53Speaker 3: thing to note, due to our last conversation being about
- 1:58Speaker 3: the horrendous, horrendous football trailer for the Mandalorian Grogu in
- 2:05Speaker 3: the Super Bowl from an experience, I don't know who
- 2:13Speaker 3: they are, but they tweeted out the Mandalorian Grogu Super
- 2:18Speaker 3: Bowl ad was the worst performing film ad of the night,
- 2:24Speaker 3: ranking forty three in engagement for ads overall, with an
- 2:29Speaker 3: engagement score of one hundred and four versus the Minions
- 2:33Speaker 3: and Monsters the highest engagement for a film at nine
- 2:38Speaker 3: oh nine and Disclosure Day at four hundred and seventy five.
- 2:44Speaker 3: So yeah, we know how bad that was and don't
- 2:51Speaker 3: really need to talk about it anymore. The second piece
- 2:57Speaker 3: of news, which I did share with you in text,
- 3:01Speaker 3: this is exciting, but we haven't really gotten any kind
- 3:05Speaker 3: of like evidence or update to this, So I don't
- 3:08Speaker 3: know how I feel about like really cementing it as
- 3:13Speaker 3: like hey, this is news. This is more of like, hey,
- 3:16Speaker 3: you know, let's let's wait and see what happens. But
- 3:19Speaker 3: Skeleton Crew season two has been listed as in development
- 3:26Speaker 3: by Production Weekly. Usually when this type of thing happens
- 3:31Speaker 3: with production weekly we see either like a a scan
- 3:36Speaker 3: or an actual photo of like the actual wording or
- 3:41Speaker 3: description of it, and we haven't seen that yet from this,
- 3:44Speaker 3: so yeah, we'll see how legit it is in the
- 3:48Speaker 3: next few weeks or months, you know. Excuse me, but yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 3: that has That is the extent of the news that
- 3:58Speaker 3: we had in the Star Wars Alliance chat. Now. The
- 4:06Speaker 3: other news that I literally just shared with you probably
- 4:08Speaker 3: about two hours ago is this variety article that actually
- 4:14Speaker 3: takes from a interview from b K magazine. I think
- 4:22Speaker 3: is m a g with excuse me, the would be
- 4:29Speaker 3: director of the hunt for Ben Solo, And I say
- 4:34Speaker 3: would be as in would have been the director for
- 4:37Speaker 3: Ben Solo, not a He's not a would be actor.
- 4:40Speaker 3: He's a legit actor, guys, I promise Souderbergh. He had
- 4:47Speaker 3: an interview with them, and the question came up. Since
- 4:54Speaker 3: you brought up Star Wars, I was reading the Kathleen
- 4:57Speaker 3: Kennedy exit interview again before we got on call. I
- 5:01Speaker 3: think what surprised a lot of people from the outside
- 5:04Speaker 3: was that it appeared it basically was greenlit and then
- 5:09Speaker 3: essentially the head of Disney killed it for story reasons,
- 5:14Speaker 3: which has never stopped them from doing anything in Star
- 5:16Speaker 3: Wars before. And I was wondering if that cleared anything
- 5:21Speaker 3: up for you. Do you know how disappointed she was?
- 5:25Speaker 3: His response was, no, it was not surprising whatsoever she was.
- 5:32Speaker 3: It was not surprising that she was frustrated. We will
- 5:35Speaker 3: we were all frustrated. That was two and a half
- 5:38Speaker 3: years of free work. He worked on this for two
- 5:44Speaker 3: and a half years.
- 5:45Speaker 2: That's insane hopes and dream not for money.
- 5:50Speaker 3: And he said, work for me and Adam and Rebecca Blunt.
- 5:56Speaker 3: When Adam and I discussed him talking about it publicly,
- 6:00Speaker 3: I said, look, do not editorialize, speculate about the why.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Just tell them what happened, because all we know is what.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 3: He says, we don't think Ben Solo could be alive.
- 6:21Speaker 3: That was the reason, and that was all we were
- 6:24Speaker 3: ever told. And so there's nothing to do about it,
- 6:28Speaker 3: you know, except move on now. The Variety article, the
- 6:34Speaker 3: headline states Disney acts Star Wars sequel the hunt for
- 6:38Speaker 3: beIN Solo without even asking about the budget or other details.
- 6:42Speaker 3: And that is because the second part of this quote,
- 6:46Speaker 3: he says, and as I posted, I kind of made
- 6:50Speaker 3: the movie in my head, and it just I just
- 6:53Speaker 3: felt bad that nobody else was going to see it.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I thought the conversation was strictly going to be a
- 6:59Speaker 3: press to go one where they go, Okay, what's it
- 7:03Speaker 3: going to cost? And I had a really good answer
- 7:07Speaker 3: for that, but it never even got to that point.
- 7:10Speaker 3: It's insane. We're all very disappointed, mega sad it legitimately
- 7:18Speaker 3: got cut off at the knees.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that's insane that they wouldn't even have the conversation
- 7:26Speaker 2: and they're just like, Nah, story wise, this isn't gonna
- 7:30Speaker 2: work out. I'm betting the because we've heard all of
- 7:36Speaker 2: the rumors about Kennedy leaving for so long that she
- 7:41Speaker 2: had been leaving in the works, because we've been wondering
- 7:43Speaker 2: why nothing for Star Wars has been getting greenlit, And
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'm betting it was because they were trying to work
- 7:51Speaker 2: out her exiting and they wanted to know who was
- 7:54Speaker 2: going to take charge. But they also probably knew that
- 7:57Speaker 2: Dave Filoni needed like they wanted Dave Filoni to be
- 8:02Speaker 2: in charge, but they needed a business savvy person with
- 8:07Speaker 2: felony in order to do that, so they hit probably
- 8:11Speaker 2: Kathleen Kennedy, who's probably wanted to retire and get back
- 8:14Speaker 2: to producing solely for as long as we've heard the rumors,
- 8:19Speaker 2: that's my bet, and that they were just seeing how
- 8:24Speaker 2: long it would take to get somebody to step in
- 8:26Speaker 2: for the business side of the president role. Yeah, and
- 8:31Speaker 2: our lucky Canadate is lynnwin Burnon. So yeah, that's that's
- 8:37Speaker 2: my guess. And that's probably why this was never a
- 8:40Speaker 2: conversation is because of that reason.
- 8:45Speaker 3: It's it's very disheartening, and you're right there, there is
- 8:49Speaker 3: a business slash political agenda. And when I say political agenda,
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean more so like business politics in all of that.
- 9:02Speaker 3: And so the real question and conversation now should be, Hey,
- 9:11Speaker 3: Kathleen Kennedy is gone, not saying that it couldn't have
- 9:14Speaker 3: been made with her, but now that everything has been
- 9:19Speaker 3: set forth for the future, let's bring this back into conversation. Yeah,
- 9:26Speaker 3: that's what the conversation should now be because, and I've
- 9:30Speaker 3: said this already before, we've seen the reaction to the
- 9:35Speaker 3: hunt for Ben Solo. Now it's time to put that
- 9:40Speaker 3: reaction towards some sort of campaign plan.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and that'll be the interesting thing to see, is
- 9:48Speaker 2: the big kicker is going to be I think probably
- 9:52Speaker 2: D twenty three this year, and then Star Wars Celebration
- 9:58Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven is seeing how all of that goes
- 10:03Speaker 2: and what we get out of there, because like James
- 10:06Speaker 2: Gunn and Peter Saffron, they need to come out of
- 10:09Speaker 2: the gate swinging and they need to go, hey, we
- 10:11Speaker 2: have a plan, and this is the plan. Like there
- 10:15Speaker 2: needs to be something because otherwise you are going to
- 10:18Speaker 2: lose people.
- 10:21Speaker 3: That does random thought, by the way, but talking about
- 10:27Speaker 3: like D twenty three, Star Wars celebration, when was the
- 10:31Speaker 3: last time we heard anything from Siglin about books?
- 10:39Speaker 2: It would probably be New York Comic Con.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Was the last anything.
- 10:47Speaker 2: From my recollection? I think he's on Blue Sky. Yes,
- 10:51Speaker 2: I have not done a lot with Blue Sky, so
- 10:54Speaker 2: I need to.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Get that back into regular rotation of me doing things
- 11:02Speaker 3: so that way I can keep up with both him
- 11:05Speaker 3: and Charlestoul because Charlestowl is on Blue Sky as well.
- 11:10Speaker 3: But yeah, I was just kind of thinking me of
- 11:11Speaker 3: that today because I finally got Lost Stars back from Libby. Yeah,
- 11:16Speaker 3: and I just started it today. And then also really
- 11:22Speaker 3: bumm thing is I got an email from my local
- 11:28Speaker 3: bookstore the other day and they're like, hey, Clay, so,
- 11:36Speaker 3: what are your books? Was brought in damaged? Oh no,
- 11:41Speaker 3: now if you can see kind of like the wear
- 11:46Speaker 3: and tear.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I was like, okay, this is a pretty old book.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And I told them, as long as every page is
- 12:00Speaker 3: intact and pages aren't falling out, we should be okay.
- 12:06Speaker 3: And they're like, the only damage was to the back
- 12:08Speaker 3: of the book. We're gonna put a twenty percent off
- 12:12Speaker 3: uh coupon for that book, okay, And I was like, cool,
- 12:18Speaker 3: so I get some money. Yeah cool.
- 12:21Speaker 2: So yeah, these they're super flimsy covers, especially these mass
- 12:26Speaker 2: market ones.
- 12:28Speaker 3: But I think because they're mass market, they're constantly in production,
- 12:34Speaker 3: aren't they.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I don't know about that.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Okay, because some of the ones that I've actually been
- 12:41Speaker 3: getting feel pretty new in the sense of like maybe
- 12:48Speaker 3: it's just been sitting there for so long and they're like,
- 12:50Speaker 3: holy crap, there's finally one dude, finally gonna be purchasing
- 12:54Speaker 3: the rest of our stock of these books. But like
- 12:59Speaker 3: the like I said, they feel pretty nice every single
- 13:03Speaker 3: time I order one, So I don't know if they're
- 13:14Speaker 3: just keeping them really really well protected.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But see this one says it's a first edition. So
- 13:26Speaker 2: I don't know what's your inside cover say.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Inside cover, Well, it feels a first edition.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not gonna be a first edition because it
- 13:36Speaker 2: has legends on it.
- 13:39Speaker 3: But it is a first edition. It says first October
- 13:43Speaker 3: two thousand, Okay.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So maybe that's just a record of where it was at.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I can't remember how you tell where when it was printed.
- 13:54Speaker 3: So when it be uh, when it comes to book
- 14:00Speaker 3: like this, it will be the actual print, like the
- 14:08Speaker 3: first edition or whatever. I know how comics you can tell,
- 14:12Speaker 3: but I don't know books like because usually in when
- 14:16Speaker 3: you look at comics, you look at the the ISBN
- 14:22Speaker 3: number on the bar code. That'll tell you if it's first, second, third, fourth, fifth, tenth,
- 14:30Speaker 3: printing whatever. I don't know how to check that in
- 14:36Speaker 3: actual novels other than well, oh no, no, here it is here.
- 14:41Speaker 3: It is two thousand and six Delray mass Market Edition.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Boom right at the top, so it says it right.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It can't focus because it's too small of writing, but
- 14:55Speaker 3: it says it right there, twenty sixteen del Rey mass
- 15:01Speaker 3: Market Edition.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, so everything else is showing like the record of
- 15:13Speaker 3: what was originally there. Yeah, and then the additional twenty
- 15:18Speaker 3: sixteen del Ray edition is what was added to show
- 15:21Speaker 3: that it is a reprint.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Gotcha, Yeah because this says copyright two thousand and one
- 15:26Speaker 2: by your Film Limited. Yeah because I thought. Yeah, because
- 15:33Speaker 2: all of the Legends banners ones were printed after Disney
- 15:37Speaker 2: bought it. Yeah, so like this one doesn't have it.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Uh, okay, okay, yeah, all of mine will have Legends
- 15:45Speaker 3: on it. Then. Yeah. But onto our second topic, which
- 15:51Speaker 3: is the trailer. Manalorian Grogu trailer. As we said, I
- 15:57Speaker 3: literally just watched it right before we went live. I
- 16:01Speaker 3: have thoughts. I'm gonna play it again with no sound
- 16:05Speaker 3: while we're talking about this, I will go out and
- 16:11Speaker 3: say it looks good aesthetically. It looks good when it
- 16:23Speaker 3: comes to anything in the eye of like how it looks.
- 16:30Speaker 3: It does look like the TV show, though it does
- 16:34Speaker 3: not look other than some of the bigger alien monsters stuff. Yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 3: it does not look like it has any bigger of
- 16:46Speaker 3: a budget than it does on the show.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Correct. I would agree with that, And I mean they
- 16:54Speaker 2: took basically the show's budget and turned it into a
- 16:57Speaker 2: movie budget. Yeah, basically, So well, I don't blame them
- 17:03Speaker 2: in that sense, it definitely doesn't look as polished as
- 17:06Speaker 2: a movie.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yes, and that's what I mean. And that's what I
- 17:10Speaker 3: mean is like the fact that I think that people
- 17:15Speaker 3: will notice because like there's always the sentiment of like
- 17:20Speaker 3: most recently, Mwana to Juana Tow was made for Disney,
- 17:25Speaker 3: plus they changed their mind they edit it to format
- 17:29Speaker 3: as a movie, and then we had comments of people saying, yeah,
- 17:34Speaker 3: it feels very episodic and we can kind of tell
- 17:38Speaker 3: when the episodes would have ended throughout the movie.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Yep.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I really hope that isn't the case here. That's my
- 17:49Speaker 3: only thing, you know.
- 17:52Speaker 2: I don't think that it will feel episodic mainly because
- 18:00Speaker 2: because or at least that's my hope. I feel like,
- 18:04Speaker 2: because they're choosing to pick some bigger aliens, like they're
- 18:07Speaker 2: reintroducing the dragon snake from Dagoba and whatnot. I feel like,
- 18:15Speaker 2: because they're choosing to do those aspects that they plan
- 18:20Speaker 2: this as a movie.
- 18:23Speaker 3: As an actual movie.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, So that's that's my theory. Is it definitely looks
- 18:30Speaker 2: like that. I do appreciate that there's a little more
- 18:32Speaker 2: humor in this, Like I know people were scared about
- 18:36Speaker 2: how much humor that there could potentially be. But I
- 18:39Speaker 2: enjoyed the amount of humor in this jailer, so.
- 18:45Speaker 3: About that when and I may need to watch season
- 18:53Speaker 3: three again. The speech I was gonna say impediment, but
- 19:02Speaker 3: that's not the right phrasing. The way that Dinjarren talks
- 19:11Speaker 3: towards Grogu feels like he's trying to land a comedic
- 19:20Speaker 3: punchline rather than organically talk to him.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I think that may just be potentially how it was shot,
- 19:30Speaker 2: Like they potentially had him do ADR in specific ways,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and so then the ADR they picked a specific funny
- 19:38Speaker 2: bit for the trailer.
- 19:40Speaker 3: That might be it.
- 19:42Speaker 2: That might be it, because that's the benefit with doing
- 19:45Speaker 2: a helmeted character, right, is that you can have lines
- 19:50Speaker 2: of bazillion different ways and it doesn't matter what their
- 19:52Speaker 2: facial expression says. So that would be my hope. I
- 19:58Speaker 2: like the dinner line. I chuck both times, so.
- 20:01Speaker 3: I they're like, uh, like, oh, what are you waiting for?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Like that line felt a little like, you know. And again,
- 20:14Speaker 3: we are finishing up season one in our retro review tonight,
- 20:19Speaker 3: so looking back at how he did talk to Grogu,
- 20:25Speaker 3: we didn't know his name back then, but looking at
- 20:29Speaker 3: how he did talk to Grogu compared to how the
- 20:33Speaker 3: relationship is in the book oft and in season three,
- 20:40Speaker 3: it's still excuse me, it feels a little weird, right,
- 20:47Speaker 3: but also.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Looking at a character who's grown over what we're calling
- 20:53Speaker 2: three years.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and that's that's what I mean, Like there
- 20:57Speaker 3: is growth there, but the comedic timing of the line
- 21:06Speaker 3: and the way he's saying in the trailer, it might
- 21:09Speaker 3: be different context in the actual movie, m but it
- 21:15Speaker 3: just feels a little silly.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Are you still talking about the cookie one or the
- 21:22Speaker 2: waiting one?
- 21:23Speaker 3: The the oh what are you waiting for? Where he
- 21:26Speaker 3: jumps inside of the little like hovercraft the freaking stroller thing.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I feel like, yeah, I feel like that
- 21:39Speaker 2: one is mainly just like they chose to frame it
- 21:44Speaker 2: a different way for the trailer. Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 3: But like the one that I actually really chuckled at
- 21:49Speaker 3: was the opener of the trailer, which is like the
- 21:53Speaker 3: button like you get the very like the music is
- 21:59Speaker 3: roaring with the engine and like it's about to be
- 22:01Speaker 3: this grandiose thing and all of a sudden, do do
- 22:03Speaker 3: do do do do do? He's like, don't touch the butts,
- 22:05Speaker 3: don't touch the butts, that's funny. I really liked the
- 22:08Speaker 3: opening for that.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I think that I liked the opening and then the
- 22:13Speaker 2: let's save the rest for after dinner at the end.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Now, one thing that I do want to talk about
- 22:23Speaker 3: the bounty hunter.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, what's his name?
- 22:27Speaker 3: Uh with the dog? Yes, yes, I don't think that's
- 22:33Speaker 3: his name. Actually I think it is bounty hunter with dog.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It's not really a dog, but uh, Star Wars Imbo.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Imbo, you were close.
- 22:55Speaker 3: INMBO. Imbo looks good. Now again, I don't think.
- 23:01Speaker 2: You can say he looks good because he's housed in shadow.
- 23:05Speaker 3: And well, and that's what I mean is the fact
- 23:08Speaker 3: that they decided the one place you're gonna see him
- 23:12Speaker 3: in this trailer, it's dark, he looks menacing. You know,
- 23:19Speaker 3: he is going to be a completely cgi character. So
- 23:21Speaker 3: you know, take that as you will.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So is Zeb and Ze looks good.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Zeb looks good, exactly. I think it's gonna be a
- 23:30Speaker 3: lot of fun we have seen because of course, at
- 23:36Speaker 3: one point and still, I mean, he does take side jobs.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Den Jarren was introduced to us as a bounty hunter.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Uh oh, thank you, Travis.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Travis giving us a super chat. Awesome, awesome, thank you
- 23:55Speaker 3: so much, uh saying good afternoon, Hello, Travis. Going off
- 23:59Speaker 3: the trailer, speculate that Mando and Grogu spent a large
- 24:05Speaker 3: chunk of the movie apart. Mando was taken by Imbo
- 24:09Speaker 3: putting an arena with Rota having to burst out together
- 24:13Speaker 3: while Grogu finds help. Not sure if that's the structure
- 24:18Speaker 3: of the movie, but it would be interesting to follow
- 24:22Speaker 3: Grogu figuring out how to get his dad help through strangers,
- 24:28Speaker 3: some helpful, some not, all while not speaking. We've talked
- 24:34Speaker 3: about this. I made a joke and you're not on Twitter,
- 24:41Speaker 3: so you didn't get to see this joke. I didn't
- 24:45Speaker 3: know what this trailer was going to intel m hm,
- 24:49Speaker 3: so I was like, oh, it's probably gonna be an
- 24:52Speaker 3: announcement that Pedro, Pascal and Grogu are going to be
- 24:57Speaker 3: hosting the Oscars, and Ogu is the one gonna be
- 25:01Speaker 3: making the announcement. It'll be his first words. Just because
- 25:07Speaker 3: of how horrendous the Super Bowl trailer was. I had
- 25:10Speaker 3: no hope and what this But we have talked about
- 25:17Speaker 3: this movie possibly being the very first time that Grogu
- 25:21Speaker 3: talks mm hmm. Bring that back up. Do you think
- 25:26Speaker 3: it will.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I'm still sticking to my my initial joke of it
- 25:45Speaker 2: happens at the very end of the movie and he's like, help.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Me find my dad.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I Yobi wan Kenobi, You're my only hope.
- 25:54Speaker 3: I like the thing is, I can see it being
- 25:58Speaker 3: like a really silly, stupid state. You're like that, not
- 26:02Speaker 3: like so out of pocket to be like like aunt
- 26:06Speaker 3: May saying what the at the end of Spider Man,
- 26:09Speaker 3: you know, but like kind of like that. I I
- 26:17Speaker 3: think it'll be still a very interesting concept. I don't
- 26:21Speaker 3: know how the older audience will feel about separating the
- 26:28Speaker 3: two and only following Grogu Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Because the thing the thing, right is that the key
- 26:37Speaker 2: with a non speaking character, or the key with a
- 26:40Speaker 2: character that speaks a different language that isn't translated on screen.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Chewy Grogo, What's eight from the Boys? BB eight R
- 26:51Speaker 2: two G two C three po All those things are
- 26:54Speaker 2: C three po speaks English, Yeah, yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Two R two D two BB eight chopper. Like all
- 27:01Speaker 3: of those you have to have a.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Character that's there to translate, and you basically have to go, well, yes,
- 27:08Speaker 2: you think, YadA YadA YadA, but like no, we're gonna
- 27:12Speaker 2: do it this way. Kind of thing or yeah, you
- 27:14Speaker 2: big fuzzball, you're gonna have to get in the garbage compactor,
- 27:18Speaker 2: like telling us what the character is trying to say.
- 27:22Speaker 2: And so I don't think that would play very well,
- 27:27Speaker 2: especially when you think a lot of what we've seen
- 27:30Speaker 2: Grogu doing on his own. He's been working with Anzellen's
- 27:33Speaker 2: and Anzellen's already speak a different language. So he's either
- 27:38Speaker 2: going to have to be talking by that point if
- 27:40Speaker 2: he truly is by himself, or Din has to be
- 27:44Speaker 2: there to help interpret what's going on. Yeah, because otherwise
- 27:49Speaker 2: you don't really get a good feel for how that
- 27:51Speaker 2: story is gonna come across. I think at Max you
- 27:55Speaker 2: get like two to three minutes of him trying to
- 27:58Speaker 2: talk to people by himself.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I think it'll be more than I think it will
- 28:04Speaker 3: be more. I think it will be more than two
- 28:06Speaker 3: or three minutes, but I think it'll be in small
- 28:09Speaker 3: pockets throughout the film. Yeah, So that way people won't
- 28:13Speaker 3: get frustrated with what you're talking about, with the idea
- 28:17Speaker 3: of like, okay, we kind of understand that he understands,
- 28:21Speaker 3: like it's it's almost like the moment with Guardians of
- 28:24Speaker 3: the Galaxy too, where Baby group is yeah, trying to
- 28:29Speaker 3: press the like the button and rockets like, no, you
- 28:33Speaker 3: don't press this one. We all die. You gotta press
- 28:35Speaker 3: this one, And like there's a moment where like grow
- 28:40Speaker 3: group almost presses Yeah. I mean he's like, oh wait, okay, yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 3: I have to put this one. So I think we
- 28:45Speaker 3: are going to get those many moments throughout the film,
- 28:50Speaker 3: so that way we can give some time to grow
- 28:54Speaker 3: Gou on his own, to kind of grow as a character. Yeah,
- 28:59Speaker 3: but I don't I think it can be long stretches
- 29:02Speaker 3: of time because I do genuinely believe the audience will
- 29:07Speaker 3: get frustrated and or lost and just be like, Okay,
- 29:12Speaker 3: where's den Jarn, where's Petro Pascal all of this stuff?
- 29:15Speaker 2: Yep, Because I think I do think that you guys
- 29:19Speaker 2: are right, is that there is going to be some
- 29:22Speaker 2: time a part. Mando is clearly taken by Embo, but
- 29:27Speaker 2: we've also seen, like to the point of like hey,
- 29:31Speaker 2: he's put in the arena with Roda. We've also seen
- 29:35Speaker 2: in other pieces of the trailer where Manto and Grogu
- 29:38Speaker 2: are in the audience watching the fight. So I don't
- 29:43Speaker 2: necessarily think that it's just like, oh, yeah, he's gonna
- 29:46Speaker 2: fight with the gladiator to the duel kind of thing.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I think the main plot of this is going to be, hey,
- 29:55Speaker 2: let's hunt down imperial figures and then we get sidetracked
- 29:59Speaker 2: in to the huts with something. I think the city
- 30:04Speaker 2: planet that we see is Narshada, which is going to
- 30:07Speaker 2: be super interesting, which because we haven't really been to
- 30:10Speaker 2: Narshada at all, We've just kind of read about it
- 30:12Speaker 2: in books. The I think the swampy area it could
- 30:22Speaker 2: be Narsiada. It could be Digova because or it could
- 30:26Speaker 2: be the car in the Rise of Skywalker because it
- 30:31Speaker 2: looked familiar to that plant life. But it's definitely a
- 30:34Speaker 2: swampy area because that's where the dragon snake lives and
- 30:38Speaker 2: we see the dragon snake interacted with Pedro Pascal. Sam's
- 30:42Speaker 2: helmet by the way, which I need to talk about
- 30:43Speaker 2: because you said that you thought he was going to
- 30:47Speaker 2: stick with his helmet in this and now we have
- 30:49Speaker 2: three different shots.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we have, we have a few. I was literally
- 30:54Speaker 3: just as you were talking, I was saying how many
- 30:57Speaker 3: times he actually is seen with his helmet off. The
- 31:01Speaker 3: very first time is we actually see the helmet being
- 31:05Speaker 3: taken off by Embo. We assume.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's the imbo won the huts because the
- 31:15Speaker 2: huts are literally holding his helmet.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, we we see him with the huts, and then
- 31:21Speaker 3: the very next one is when he is underneath with
- 31:25Speaker 3: the what do you call it? A dragon snake? So
- 31:32Speaker 3: we I wanted I wanted him to be without taking
- 31:41Speaker 3: off his mask, at least for the marketing. That's what
- 31:49Speaker 3: I wanted. Yes, I roll my eyes because I know
- 31:58Speaker 3: that damn face set was so many freaking tickets to anything,
- 32:05Speaker 3: you know, Sam's Fantastic four. Apparently, I like, it was
- 32:12Speaker 3: silly of me to not think that they were gonna
- 32:15Speaker 3: put his face on the marketing. The only question now
- 32:21Speaker 3: is does he kill the huts?
- 32:31Speaker 2: I don't know, because it's interesting because the last time
- 32:35Speaker 2: we saw them was in book Boba fett his brother
- 32:38Speaker 2: and sister Hut yep, and so those huts were last
- 32:44Speaker 2: seen on Tattooine, which we know Boba took over a Tatooine.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So why are the twins there being pissy about Mando?
- 32:58Speaker 2: You got me because like, and I'm wondering how it's
- 33:04Speaker 2: gonna tie in other than an interruption where like he's
- 33:07Speaker 2: got a bounty on his head from the huts. That's
- 33:12Speaker 2: the only thing I can think of. Oh, Travia said, Yeah,
- 33:17Speaker 2: he's agreeing. He said, if Gorogo is spending time alone,
- 33:19Speaker 2: I think a lot of the dialogue will be the
- 33:20Speaker 2: characters he interacts with try and figure out what he needs. Yeah, exactly.
- 33:24Speaker 2: I just would hope that it wouldn't be too too long,
- 33:29Speaker 2: And especially because we've already seen a couple scenes with
- 33:32Speaker 2: him and the ant Zelens, we need to be able
- 33:34Speaker 2: to interpret where those scenes are going. So that's my
- 33:37Speaker 2: big qualm.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Like I believe in the very first trailer we do
- 33:41Speaker 3: see him like alone in like some sort of like sewage, which.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Would make sense with like if he's rescuing Mando from
- 33:48Speaker 2: the huts, like with the a Zellans.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Like being in.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm interested to see be because we have
- 34:01Speaker 2: this the the alien creature that asks Grogu if he's scared.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Star Wars news Net is confirming that this is a
- 34:10Speaker 2: brand new alien character that they don't know what type
- 34:13Speaker 2: of species this alien is, and he's asking like are
- 34:21Speaker 2: you scared? Kind of thing, and he clearly interprets a
- 34:24Speaker 2: response from Grogu. So I'm wondering if this is like
- 34:26Speaker 2: another force lesson that he has to participate in, because
- 34:29Speaker 2: we do see Grogu meditating in that swampy area. So
- 34:34Speaker 2: and like, I feel like it looks like R two
- 34:38Speaker 2: in the opening shot, but.
- 34:41Speaker 3: He has a color scheme difference.
- 34:44Speaker 2: He has a color scheme difference.
- 34:46Speaker 3: He's red.
- 34:48Speaker 2: No, I thought he was blue.
- 34:50Speaker 3: No, no, no, no. Oh yeah, sunrise and then it
- 34:55Speaker 3: immediately focuses and it's all red.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right. I I thought it was tinged from
- 35:01Speaker 2: the sun.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, yeah, no, I'm looking at this character that
- 35:07Speaker 3: did ask Grogu are you scared? Are you fraid? Or whatever?
- 35:14Speaker 3: I don't know why. He looks like a species that
- 35:16Speaker 3: we've seen before.
- 35:18Speaker 2: He kind of looks like a big sabolba.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, that makes sense, but he's got he's not.
- 35:26Speaker 2: A snake like creature and like walking on his arms
- 35:30Speaker 2: and stuff. So it's not a giant sabulba.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Very true.
- 35:37Speaker 2: But Star Wars News Nets theory is that they're on
- 35:41Speaker 2: indoor at that point, which ooh, okay, I have a
- 35:47Speaker 2: question for you. Okay, it might be a little fonky.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Do you think we see Palpatine's bounty hunter that had
- 35:57Speaker 2: the knife and that's why he could be on indoor.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Is they're getting the knife.
- 36:08Speaker 3: So you so you think that see this is this
- 36:14Speaker 3: is where I kind of have to laugh because like
- 36:19Speaker 3: laugh yes and no, because like at one point, I'm like,
- 36:24Speaker 3: you think Folony is going to connect dots with his
- 36:28Speaker 3: first big Mandalorian grown.
- 36:31Speaker 2: This is Farvro's movie. Felony is producing executive producer.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yes, yes, and and it's for that reason I could
- 36:41Speaker 3: see them. But the thing is, I hate to reference
- 36:48Speaker 3: this one line from Travis whenever we talk about this stuff.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Books are cannon until they're not. The knife is a
- 37:01Speaker 3: part of.
- 37:04Speaker 2: It's a comic. It is a comic knife.
- 37:07Speaker 3: It's got it.
- 37:08Speaker 2: The bounty Hunter himself has his roots in the comics.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I I'm gonna say no. I'm gonna say no. I
- 37:20Speaker 3: think that it's too deep of a pool currently, mm hmm.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Because we it we have yet, legit yeah, we have.
- 37:35Speaker 3: We have yet to legitimately see an actual reference to
- 37:41Speaker 3: any type of outside media other than movies or TV
- 37:49Speaker 3: shows in movies or TV shows, like, we haven't seen
- 37:56Speaker 3: any reference to a comic book or novel inside a
- 38:02Speaker 3: movie or a TV show. We've seen it the other
- 38:06Speaker 3: way around. Of course, but we haven't seen a direct
- 38:11Speaker 3: reference from something from a comic book or from a novel,
- 38:16Speaker 3: or from a video game even into a show or movie. Correct.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Yeah, but the knife, it was OG's knife, and so
- 38:36Speaker 2: the knife has a lot of background in the comic
- 38:41Speaker 2: mm hmm. But it was introduced in the movie as
- 38:44Speaker 2: OG's knife.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yes, I okay, So there could be there, There could
- 38:56Speaker 3: be something there. I'm just very very hesitant to lucasfilm
- 39:02Speaker 3: ever acknowledging comics and novels. That's really all it is. Like,
- 39:07Speaker 3: I genuinely think that they would change it before they
- 39:12Speaker 3: acknowledge it, you know, they they would completely rewrite it
- 39:17Speaker 3: to fit the movie's narrative rather than take something from
- 39:21Speaker 3: an already existing piece of cannon, supposedly, because again, everything
- 39:39Speaker 3: is cannon until it's not. I would love, I would
- 39:44Speaker 3: absolutely love for them to do something like that, but
- 39:47Speaker 3: I just don't think they would.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Okay, So the knife the dagger has made an appearance
- 39:54Speaker 2: in Crimson Rain, One, Shadow of the Safe, and then
- 39:59Speaker 2: The Rise of Skywalker. So I was calling it a knife,
- 40:03Speaker 2: So let me go search this for dagger. Yeah, so
- 40:11Speaker 2: there is nothing about how he gets it in the book,
- 40:16Speaker 2: So yeah, what it was a thought because the indoor reference,
- 40:22Speaker 2: I would I would.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Be interested to see genuinely, because again, like the hope
- 40:28Speaker 3: for us as Star Wars fans is, if you're going
- 40:33Speaker 3: to make a movie that is in between other movies,
- 40:40Speaker 3: then there has to be connective tissue, right, there has
- 40:43Speaker 3: to be something. We're not asking for fan service. Yeah,
- 40:48Speaker 3: that's yes, We're not asking for fan service.
- 40:51Speaker 2: We are.
- 40:52Speaker 3: All we are asking is, hey, there is already a
- 40:56Speaker 3: completed puzzle and you're adding a piece, so we need
- 41:00Speaker 3: to know where it connects to. So if that's the case,
- 41:08Speaker 3: then I just, genuinely, other than having a really fun
- 41:13Speaker 3: time in this movie, I do need a definitive Hey,
- 41:19Speaker 3: where is this movie leading us in the timeline? Yeah?
- 41:24Speaker 3: Travis also says as a fan of the Aftermath books,
- 41:29Speaker 3: I really I was really happy to see Cobb Van
- 41:33Speaker 3: brought in over five years after he was introduced.
- 41:36Speaker 2: That is true, that is a book pull. We may
- 41:39Speaker 2: not have liked those books. Yeah, I enjoyed that connective
- 41:44Speaker 2: tissue because Cob Van is an interesting character and he
- 41:51Speaker 2: was only introduced in an interlude of Aftermath. It wasn't
- 41:56Speaker 2: like expanded upon or anything.
- 41:59Speaker 3: In a way. That's yet to be clear. I think
- 42:02Speaker 3: this movie is making a Clone Wars movie sit with
- 42:07Speaker 3: the rest of the saga instead of feeling like a
- 42:10Speaker 3: few random episodes of a show strung into a film.
- 42:14Speaker 2: That's so true, Roda hasn't been mentioned since the Clone
- 42:17Speaker 2: Wars movie. This is people are going to be getting
- 42:21Speaker 2: back into it, and I'm like, I'm digging.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Well, it's really it's really funny that you say that, because,
- 42:28Speaker 3: as somebody who was looking into our calendar for content,
- 42:35Speaker 3: there's one movie that we have not reviewed. The Clone
- 42:43Speaker 3: Wars movie has not has not been reviewed yet, and
- 42:51Speaker 3: technically all of clothes.
- 42:53Speaker 2: I don't think we have time before the movie, but.
- 42:56Speaker 3: No, we don't know, we don't we I looked at it.
- 42:59Speaker 3: I was like, could we move things around? No, we can't,
- 43:04Speaker 3: and it's mainly due to the fact that Maul takes
- 43:09Speaker 3: up all of April, so so we don't have any
- 43:16Speaker 3: time for that. But I did notice, like I looked
- 43:20Speaker 3: at all the movies and I was like, what's that
- 43:22Speaker 3: blank spot? Oh, that's Clone Wars. Weird that that has
- 43:27Speaker 3: never been reviewed before, so we might be throwing it
- 43:33Speaker 3: in this year. But yeah, I do need some sort
- 43:40Speaker 3: of connective tissue, and Travis, I do think truly it is.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Like again, I referenced this, I think maybe even two
- 43:49Speaker 3: weeks ago, when I was talking about how I went
- 43:53Speaker 3: to the midnight release of Clone Wars with my dad
- 43:56Speaker 3: and one of my best friends from high school. All
- 44:00Speaker 3: the adults fell asleep while all of the teenagers and
- 44:03Speaker 3: kids like absolutely loved it. I could see Fulony being like,
- 44:11Speaker 3: I want my revenge. I need everybody to not know
- 44:16Speaker 3: a damn about this character that I'm putting into this movie.
- 44:19Speaker 3: And now they're gonna be forced to go watch my
- 44:22Speaker 3: movie on Disney Plus, and the numbers are gonna skyrocket.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna get a nice bonus check from all of
- 44:31Speaker 3: those downloads.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I could totally see it.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Travis also says Mando, assuming Roda is like the rest
- 44:38Speaker 3: of the Huts, only to find out that Roda doesn't
- 44:40Speaker 3: want to be like his dad, he wants to be
- 44:43Speaker 3: like the Jedi who saved him as a baby, would
- 44:45Speaker 3: bring it full circle.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I love this theory. I need it to happen.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Now here's something else, though, Because we see Roda, is
- 44:59Speaker 3: there an inkling of a chance we see Ahsoka.
- 45:07Speaker 2: I don't think so, because according to my research, this
- 45:11Speaker 2: is supposed to be taking place at the same time
- 45:14Speaker 2: as Ahsoka season one, oh or slightly after, because you
- 45:20Speaker 2: know how, Okay, so you know how in season three
- 45:24Speaker 2: of The Mandalorian when we see the purgles, yes, in
- 45:28Speaker 2: the background, that Grogu's supposed to be like focusing in
- 45:33Speaker 2: on them and like thinking and contemplation and stuff. Ahsoka
- 45:36Speaker 2: is supposed to be on those purls.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Yes, and so, and we know that Ahsoka is currently
- 45:43Speaker 3: not in our galaxy in the the already.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Star Wars ducks the suck for Fuloni. Yeah, this is
- 45:53Speaker 2: my theory for the post credit too. We have Zeb
- 45:56Speaker 2: getting a call bus being Aska being lost one hundred
- 45:59Speaker 2: percent wrote it here his name, Oh okay, remembers the
- 46:02Speaker 2: Jedi who saved him, going with Mander. I like that theory.
- 46:05Speaker 2: I was thinking. We probably got a post credit with
- 46:09Speaker 2: Zeb figuring out that Sabine and Ahsoka are lost, and
- 46:13Speaker 2: then we have a post credit kind of setting us
- 46:16Speaker 2: up for a SOCA season two with Ahsoka and Sabine
- 46:20Speaker 2: on whatever that planet is in that galaxy.
- 46:23Speaker 3: Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. We
- 46:25Speaker 3: are now assuming that Star Wars is having a post credit.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, Wonder Man did, just didn't have a
- 46:36Speaker 2: post credit, but like they're still popular right now.
- 46:40Speaker 3: Yes, yes, like I know that, but it's it has
- 46:43Speaker 3: not been done in Star Wars, so like, not in
- 46:50Speaker 3: a movie.
- 46:51Speaker 2: We've had post credits in the in the TV shows though.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Ah, that's true, that's true. I hmmm. I wonder if
- 47:03Speaker 3: it'll be trickled into the movie within itself. I like,
- 47:10Speaker 3: I I almost feel like I almost feel like Filoney
- 47:16Speaker 3: and lucasfilm going to Favre and saying like, hey, you're
- 47:21Speaker 3: the Marvel guy post credit and him being like, I'm
- 47:25Speaker 3: done with this. I came to Star Wars for this
- 47:28Speaker 3: entire reason to get away from that. I don't want to,
- 47:32Speaker 3: you know, I could see that, but but I could.
- 47:36Speaker 3: I could. I could see there being a world where like, hey,
- 47:38Speaker 3: you know how to do this correctly because you kind
- 47:41Speaker 3: of you know, gave birth to it with Iron Man,
- 47:43Speaker 3: so can you do it with this whole you know,
- 47:48Speaker 3: because we we have heard this news that if this
- 47:55Speaker 3: movie does not do well, it changes the whole idea
- 48:02Speaker 3: of having a big, bombastic movie for Faloni and his
- 48:10Speaker 3: Mando verse, and it changes all the way down to
- 48:13Speaker 3: a TV series, so I could see them try to
- 48:22Speaker 3: set up for it. I could see them trying to
- 48:23Speaker 3: set up for it.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I think so, especially when Ahsoka season two is your
- 48:31Speaker 2: next big thing for Star Wars, because by the time
- 48:36Speaker 2: Manhun Grogu comes out, you've already had Darth Maul. The
- 48:40Speaker 2: only other thing that we had the announcement for was
- 48:43Speaker 2: the ninth Jedi TV show, So the only thing you
- 48:49Speaker 2: have is going to be Ahsoka season two. So I
- 48:54Speaker 2: would set up as like, hey, remember this is coming
- 48:58Speaker 2: out later this year.
- 49:01Speaker 3: Yeah. Travis also says Roda been a powerful influence in
- 49:06Speaker 3: the Hut clan, would have access to Hut Space, allowing
- 49:09Speaker 3: them to find Paridia easier, even reuniting the Huts with
- 49:16Speaker 3: the New Republic like in the High Republic. I could
- 49:21Speaker 3: see that. I would I would be very interested to
- 49:25Speaker 3: see them completely flip the Hut Space or just the
- 49:34Speaker 3: Huts in general on its head and be like, hey,
- 49:38Speaker 3: we're no longer like these like gangsters and mob family. Instead,
- 49:45Speaker 3: we're gonna be in the forces of good and all
- 49:48Speaker 3: of this stuff. Like I would really like to see
- 49:50Speaker 3: how that changes, especially for the Well, hmm, here's the thing,
- 49:59Speaker 3: because again we have to fit in with the sequel trilogy.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Was hut space ever mentioned in the sequel trilogy.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Hut space has never really been a thing except for
- 50:14Speaker 2: the Clone Wars and like books and comics, I feel like.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Okay, well then if that's the case, that I think
- 50:22Speaker 3: we can kind of set that up for future movies.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be interesting to see.
- 50:31Speaker 3: So you start with the Anakin and Ahsoka fighting Roda
- 50:35Speaker 3: and you end it with Luke and Roda finding Ahsoka.
- 50:38Speaker 2: It's like, that's that's so cute.
- 50:42Speaker 3: That would be pretty cool.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Like I don't I don't need cameos for cameo's sake,
- 50:49Speaker 2: but I love that.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Well, and again it's not necessarily it doesn't necessarily need
- 50:55Speaker 3: to be like in this movie or even in like
- 50:58Speaker 3: the trilogy of things that will have aually become, but
- 51:01Speaker 3: like just to like finalize the saga, like yeah, hitting
- 51:08Speaker 3: that I think would be really really fun, But.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Oh no, that's not the right frame.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Some other things in this trailer, uh, to kind of
- 51:22Speaker 3: end it, we've already mentioned zep zep looks great, and yeah,
- 51:33Speaker 3: I think that's really it. For the highlights here, we
- 51:36Speaker 3: talked about the comedy. I still every single time I
- 51:43Speaker 3: see the logo, I think it just looks weird. I
- 51:48Speaker 3: don't know why it looked like and I think mainly
- 51:53Speaker 3: because it's like you look at every other Star Wars
- 52:00Speaker 3: logo and title.
- 52:04Speaker 2: It's just so different, you know, Yeah, it really is.
- 52:10Speaker 2: But I also think it could be a good thing,
- 52:12Speaker 2: because maybe it's a difficult change. Is like, hey, we're
- 52:18Speaker 2: going in a new direction.
- 52:20Speaker 3: That's true, that's true.
- 52:22Speaker 2: So correction. Hut space has been mentioned in mostly comics
- 52:31Speaker 2: and books and video games. There is a couple episodes
- 52:36Speaker 2: of Clone Warsh where it has been mentioned, especially in
- 52:40Speaker 2: like The Hunt for Zero for instance. It's been mentioned
- 52:44Speaker 2: in the Clone Warsh film, but then the last mentioned
- 52:48Speaker 2: that it had like. It has actually been mentioned in
- 52:54Speaker 2: a live action show, which is the Book of the
- 52:57Speaker 2: Fett Chapter two, The Tribes of Tattooed, and it was
- 53:00Speaker 2: mentioned only, which is typically how it's referenced. So it
- 53:07Speaker 2: could very easily come into play, is what I'm saying.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I can see that.
- 53:25Speaker 2: So yes, I love the comedy in this. I know
- 53:30Speaker 2: we've already talked about that, but I'm going back through
- 53:33Speaker 2: and trying to, like, see we do get to hear
- 53:35Speaker 2: Sigourney Weaver's character talk. Oh, we didn't talk about Martin Scorsese.
- 53:41Speaker 3: Yes, Martin Scorsese. Very odd choice as far as like
- 53:52Speaker 3: to choose any and all cameos, especially since there is
- 53:58Speaker 3: the hyper bollock and controversial comment that he's made about
- 54:07Speaker 3: Marvel movies, you know, and.
- 54:11Speaker 2: Star Wars is old school.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Well, and that's the thing, right, and that's it. But
- 54:17Speaker 3: the thing is, when people talk about superhero movies, Star
- 54:24Speaker 3: Wars is always right at the cusp of the conversation,
- 54:29Speaker 3: which I think is funny when we now see and
- 54:33Speaker 3: hear Martin scorstaisy in a Star Wars movie. So I'm
- 54:40Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm sure there's plenty of Internet trolls that
- 54:46Speaker 3: are like complaining that he's you know, in here and
- 54:50Speaker 3: all this other stuff. I don't really care. You can
- 54:53Speaker 3: clearly tell that's him. He's done acting before, right he Yeah,
- 55:01Speaker 3: I believe he is. Let me actually look up how
- 55:06Speaker 3: many movies he's actually been in.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Mark the race car mode for the stroller is kind
- 55:12Speaker 2: of cool. Sorry, I'm glad my through.
- 55:16Speaker 3: So in his IMDb, let's see how many he has
- 55:24Speaker 3: as an actor.
- 55:29Speaker 2: Are you gonna see this in IMAX? Because then it
- 55:32Speaker 2: makes me feel like I have to see it an Imax.
- 55:34Speaker 3: I have heard that the Imax theater here is not great.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Okay, so I am not typically an IMAX person because
- 55:45Speaker 2: I get overwhelmed by all of the noise, and the
- 55:50Speaker 2: theaters here are like, the Imax theater here is very nice.
- 55:55Speaker 2: The only time I would probably change that is for
- 55:58Speaker 2: an early screening, which just typically always IMAX. Not that
- 56:02Speaker 2: I think we'll get an early screening by any means.
- 56:05Speaker 3: But so, he has currently forty four acting roles. Martin
- 56:15Speaker 3: Scorsese does one of them, including the ohso famous animated
- 56:25Speaker 3: shark Tail movie with Will Smith. Yeah, that's like one
- 56:32Speaker 3: of the first movies I ever saw with him. He
- 56:37Speaker 3: is the dude that owns the car wash, I think,
- 56:42Speaker 3: or go back and watch that, yeah yeah, but yeah,
- 56:49Speaker 3: that was the first movie I had ever heard Martin
- 56:54Speaker 3: Scorsese's voice in. But then after that, he.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Is in.
- 57:04Speaker 3: The Aviator with uh Leonardo DiCaprio, He is in uh
- 57:10Speaker 3: The Audition, He is in Killers of the Main Like,
- 57:14Speaker 3: he's basically in his own movies. Basically is basically what
- 57:20Speaker 3: I'm seeing here. Yeah, he plays himself a whole lot
- 57:25Speaker 3: in other things. But yeah, he has acted before, so
- 57:33Speaker 3: I think the only nobody I think I think Amberlyn
- 57:39Speaker 3: would love that movie. Actually, I might show it to her.
- 57:42Speaker 2: I think the only Scorsese directed film that I have
- 57:47Speaker 2: seen would be Shutter Island. I don't think I've seen
- 57:49Speaker 2: any other one of his movies. Oh wow, you had
- 57:55Speaker 2: to think about that.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I would say for you, I would definitely watch. Oh wait,
- 58:06Speaker 3: is that not a Martin Scorsese movie? Hold on, hold on,
- 58:09Speaker 3: hold on, hold on? Where is his directing credits? There
- 58:15Speaker 3: we go. It's a two thousand. Have you not seen
- 58:24Speaker 3: Gangs of New York.
- 58:27Speaker 2: No?
- 58:29Speaker 3: Oh, it's a pretty bloody movie. So just a fair warning.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Not a movie to watch. Omara, Yeah, but that's a
- 58:46Speaker 3: good one. That was an actual good one.
- 58:50Speaker 2: I have to check it out because I know, like
- 58:52Speaker 2: I wanted to watch The Irishman, for instance, and The
- 58:56Speaker 2: Wolf of wall Street has always been on my list.
- 58:58Speaker 2: So nice, I'll have to. I'll have to make it
- 59:03Speaker 2: a goal for maybe next year.
- 59:05Speaker 3: Yeah, get get some, get some Martin Scorstes off your
- 59:09Speaker 3: checklist for sure. But guys, I think that is it
- 59:14Speaker 3: for the trailer talk. We are finally at our main topic.
- 59:22Speaker 3: The last topic of the Night. We are doing our
- 59:26Speaker 3: retro review part two of Mandalorian season one. This of
- 59:33Speaker 3: course covers episodes of five, six, seven, and eight, Yes
- 59:39Speaker 3: and Guys.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Episode five was directed and written by Dave Filoni Chapter so.
- 59:48Speaker 2: Chapter five is called The Gunslinger. Chapter six The Prisoner
- 59:52Speaker 2: was directed by Rick Famiyua and story was by Christopher Yos.
- 59:58Speaker 2: The teleplay is by Christopher Yos and Rick fami Yua.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Deborah Chow directed Chapter seven, The Reckoning, and it was
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: written by Jon Favreau. And then, of course Clay's favorite
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: episode of the entire series, Chapter eight, Redemption, was directed
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: by the one and only Taiko Ytt and written by
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: John Favreau. So, like, three years later, you still hate
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: the opening scene with the Stormtroopers beating up on the kid, it.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: I'm I don't hate it as much because I knew
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: it was coming, right, Like, I knew it was coming.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: So it's just like, Okay, it's there. You know. It's
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: a little bit of a like oh yeah, because like
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: we do know who actually plays the Stormtroopers. Now it's
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: kind of like an aha moment for a lot of
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: people when they do find out. Travis says episode five
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: was rough, but in typical Felony fashion, they took the
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: most hated episode and made it one of the most
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: important later.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: So it's because cynic shanned is legendary.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: I was watching this. I watched all four episodes today.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I meant to spread it out, but life got ahead
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: of me, so I had to watch everything today. The
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Gunslinger I have to laugh every single time because of
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: how almost pointless this entire episode is. Until, like Travis
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: says later in season two, yep, this this literally feels
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: like the one filler. Well, actually no, it's Episode five
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: and six are the two filler episodes of the season.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Nothing truly big happens in the Prisoner. These two episodes
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: are just here again. Episode five is for set up
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: for season two, and episode six again a little bit
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: of setup for season two. Yeah, yeah, Mayfield, we do
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: have Mayfield again. But both of these episodes are to
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: again show the ruthlessness and badassery of the Mandalorian. That's
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: basically all it is.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Which is it is what you needed at that point,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: is you needed to help introduce the character and kind
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: of let him feel like he's own throughout the galaxy
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: basically at this point, and so that's really what five
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: and six is for.
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Five?
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Is it filler?
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Is it?
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: Yes? But like magnaw Win coming into Star Wars and
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: becoming such an iconic character, I don't think an actor
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: an actress has made such an impact. Sense, Let's be real.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: The girl has been in live action. She's been in
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: two different live action shows. She's been in the animated stuff.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: She's also I know magnaw Win has not actually done this,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: but the girl has been in video games, she's been
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: in books. We all character.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: We also have the oh so famous Pelly Moto. When
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: I saw Pelly again, I'm just like, god, damn, this woman.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Amus Sedaris is a true gym in Hollywood. If anybody
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: has ever watched the show The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix,
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: Amy is like peak comedy in that show, absolutely ridiculous,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: absolutely hilarious, and so seeing her again here as just this,
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: you know, very not so serious mechanics. Have we already
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: confirmed that she's in Man Laurian Grogue? Oh but there
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: was the joke that, uh, Sigouri Weaver is just like
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: her sister or something, you know.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Yeah, the original joke was like, oh, they found the
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: movie star version.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Amy Amy Sedaris was not available during the
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: time of filming, so they're just gonna put that would
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: oh by god, if they would have put Sigourney Weaver
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: in that spot, Oh my god. But yeah, like this
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: this did of course introduce uh Pelly and Finnick, and
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: it also on ironically introduced uh Troy Kotzer as the
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Tusken Raider. Now again he helped in the book Bubba
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: Fett introduced an entire new set of sign language for
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: the Tuscans, which so so I had no idea that
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: he played the raider in this episode either, So having
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: him here I think is really really cool. Something I
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: also did not know ev ninety nine the uncredited voice actor.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: It's Mark Hamill, isn't it.
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: It's Mark Hamill. Yeah, I did not know that until
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: literally just how Yeah, I think that is really really cool.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: It also, uh like this episode again a little bit
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: of filler, But I do think that, especially after what
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: we had in episode four, there needed to be a
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: palette cleanser, a palate cleanser. There needed there needed to
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: be a low to the high that we had just
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: been on.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: You know, yeah, because like and yes, at eight episodes
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: would I like everything to be flawless and basically give
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: me two movies in this season. Yes, yeah, I think
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: if you're going to have eight episodes, you should aim
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: for that. But TV shows nowadays you have like you
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: have to expect filler basically at this point from Hollywood unfortunately,
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: and it does build the character of the Mantalori up
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: in this case, so I wouldn't even call it like
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: standard cable filler, like, yeah, this is just calm, keep
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: the story moving, character development things.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: This is the shortest episode of the batch that we
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: are currently talking about. I think it it ended with
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: like thirty six minutes compared to everything else being in
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: the forty odd minute range. So yeah, episode six being
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: the prisoner.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: With our lovely cameo by the voice of Anakin Skywalker himself.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: Yes, we do have Matt Latner as well as the
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: beautiful beautiful man Clancy Brown famously voice of Mister Crabs
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: and SpongeBob lex Luthor in the animated series of Justice League.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: So having those two be in this was a really
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: really fun treat.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: And you say, all those people, but you also have
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: to give the legendary talks actress credit herself. I can't
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: ever remember her name.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Natalie. Yes, yes, Talks from Harry Potter. Correct.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Yeah, because I the first time I saw this episode
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: at three o'clock the freaking morning, I was like, Oh,
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: that's that's That's talks and I had to go look
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: it up afterwards. And this is Clancy Brown's actually his
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: I think this is his third role for Star Wars
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: because he's the he's the governor of Lowthal Center. Yes, yes,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: which maybe I'm counting the live action and the animated
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: now that I think about it, but yes, this is
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: his second role. This is his second character.
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: Yeah. So uh and then also did not know that
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Filoni gave his character's name last name is Wolf. Trapper
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: Wolf was the X Wing pilot at the very end
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: of this episode. I think that is also hilarious.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, because you have Deborah Chow and I think Rick
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: were also in the other.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: Yes, yep. But this episode again just showing badassy of
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Bando getting the rest of the galaxy. They kind of
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: know his name. We get a little bit of Mando's background,
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: his history with this episode. And again, when you are
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: looking at a character for you know, close to the
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: very first time with this season compared to the trailer
- 1:11:08Speaker 3: that we just watched two opposite ends of the spectrum,
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: because there's there's moments in here he is just looking forward,
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: not a single word, and like everybody else is kind
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: of talking for him, and he's like, that was the
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: old me. Oh that was years ago, you know, very
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: very monotone, very to the point. Like the only emotion
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: we really got from Den Jarren at this point in
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: the episode was oh, you know, nobody has to die
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: right now, you know, trying to trying to kind of
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: cool things down again. This is oh, well, go ahead.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: It's a credit to the stunt guy's performance, but also
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: so Pedro Pascal's voice in this instant to tell a
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: lot through that voice, acting capability and stuff.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: It's it's a lot outside of of course, his already
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: like protection of Grogum. This is again one of these
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: small signs of like his humanity. Yeah, so we are
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: like and it's in the midst of learning about his past.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: So we are seeing this contradiction and or growth of
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: character which will eventually lead us to what is the
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: finale of the season, Yeah, which really starts with episode seven.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is a true two parter almost.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, the reckoning the reckoning uh with uh. This one
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: was directed by Choe right yepow chow. Sorry, And I
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: could not get past the writing for this episode and
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: the reason why that is, I don't know if this
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: was a critique of mine when I first watched it.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: Gina Carano's character, what's her name again, Carra, you said
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: for stormtroopers, you said for stormtroopers, you said for stormtroopers. Ye,
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: you said for stormtroopers throughout the entirety of this episode.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: I like, I do think they're trying they because I
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: didn't hate that line coming through multiple times. I think
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: they were trying to tell it with her character because
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: she's a Shocktrooper. She's very analytical at like seeing the
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: odds and stuff, and.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: I totally agree with that sentiment. The problem and like
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: PTSD that I have is and I just have to
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: give you, like I'm gonna give you a handful of
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Brian Michael Bendis's comics in Marble. Okay, there's this thing
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: that basically he invented. People call it like, oh, this
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: is like Brian Mindel Brian Michael Bindis, And it's called
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: sing song dialogue, where two characters bounce off of each
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: other go back and forth in conversation, and it's almost repetitive.
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: So it's like, Hi, how are you, Hi? How are you? Oh?
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: I said this, well you said that. Well, yes, I
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: said this, Well I know you said that, you said this,
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: and it's like over and over again, and there's a
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: lot of repeating. I have gotten so much PTSD from
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: reading Brian Michael Bindis's sing Song Dialogue. When I hear
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: characters repeat words and lines in books, in comics, and
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: especially being able to see them repeat it on TV,
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: it makes me go insane because I'm like, we get it.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: You don't like that there's four stormtroopers only in the building,
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: but there's thousands of them outside. We understand the odds
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: are now not in your favor. Okay, let's move past
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: that and start working on a plan. And instead, all
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: she says is, you said there was four stormtroopers over
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: and over and over again. It's annoying. Welcome to my
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: ted talk.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Uh yeah I did. I didn't find that annoying because
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: again I was watching it and I just chuckled every
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: time that happened. Was like, because it's just like, it's
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: a funny. It's a funny quirky moment between the two
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: because it's like they don't know each other from beans
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden, you've got to like
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: do all these things. I do think Carl Weathers did
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: a really good job in this episode.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Yes, this is the episode where we finally see force healing.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Yeah, this was the first introduction of it.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: So this with this, of course, is the episode that
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: debuted the week of the Rise of Skywalker and.
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: They pushed this premiere up so as not to override
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: the Rise of Skywalkers, but also because of the first.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Yes, yes, so I I really like this setup for
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: a finale. Yeah, the writing I was a little annoyed
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: with for Gina Carano's character, but the writing did create
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: one of the best memes of all time when it
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: came to Star Wars, I would like the baby. I
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: love it, I love it. Aber Laid was sitting right
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: next to me, and I knew the light was coming up,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: so I got like this close to her, and she
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: was kind she was kind of like leaning away, like
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: what are you doing? And then I said I would
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: like to see the baby, and she just like, I
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: love it. I love it. It's so good.
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: But yeah, like Lamara the trailer, and see what she
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: says about since this is like an actual trailer. Yeah,
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: see what she says about Grogo popping up all over.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: I I really like the like I said, I like
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: the setup for the finale. Here we do get our
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: first death of the group.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: I still cried when that happened. I was devastated when
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: Quile died the first time, and I was devastated again.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: I still am not over it. No, because I think
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: he still would have He would still be a great
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: asset to the team to this day, quite possibly in
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: the Mando and Grogu movie yep, if he had survived
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: that long. Yeah, and like he teaches Mando like our
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: genuine lesson with like about trust and things like that.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: Of course, with the droid, this was this like I
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: have bitpicks, of course, but like again, like this season
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: season one of Mandalorian Excuse Me, really did open a
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: lot of people's eyes to holy crap, Star Wars can
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: be on TV, right.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And.
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: I genuinely do think to this day that it did
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: a great job with that sentiment, you know. Yeah, and
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: this was one of the great, one of the better
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: episodes for it.
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think this is the one that got
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: Debora child that Obi wan Kenobi job is because just
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: the way the action is shot, the way she handles
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: certain elements of the dialogue with focusing in on certain
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: shots in particular, like when they're on the lava fields
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: in the beginning of the episode, and like Karga takes
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: them out after he's been healed by Grogu and he
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: like shoots the other Bounty hunters that are with him,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: and he's like, that's a perfectly shot scene right there. Yeah,
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: like it's it looks so good, and the transition between oh,
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: I'm shooting the Bounty hunters, but then I also have
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: to look at Carl Weather's face.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: I actually ran that back and watched it again today
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: because I was like, I just need to watch this
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: over again because it just looks so good. And of course,
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: the introduction of mof Gideon in this episode as a character.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: I think that shocked everyone when that happened.
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: I really like his introduction more so also because I
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: don't remember if this was in episode eight or if
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: it was in episode seven, but when he says when
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: we hear den Jarn's name for the first time, yep
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: and den Jarn's like, oh, it's Gideon and they're like no, no, no,
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: he died like they killed him, Like yep, he's a
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: war criminal. They killed him. And he's like, no, he's
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: the only one who knows my name. That's got to
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: be him. Yep, you know even more lore. So it's
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: it's really really fun with that introduction to give him
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: that kind of ambiance with knowing den Jarren's name. Excuse me,
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: I did like all of that. When they mowed down
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: everybody in that CANTEENA, it's just like holy, like you
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: know what kind of person we're now dealing with, right,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: And it's like, okay, well, how are they going to
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: get out of this? Which brings us to episode eight, Katie,
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: how did you feel about the face reveal?
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: I was super excited when it happened. I do remember going,
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: They're to show his face, They're to show his face
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: because I didn't know who Pedro Pascal was at this point.
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: I did not, so I really like I had seen
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: some interviews at this point because I was doing writing
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: and I was writing reviews and stuff, so I had
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: seen interviews, but I really had not seen him act before,
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: and so that was exciting to me when that first happened,
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: and I was like, Oh, he's gonna let him do it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: He's going to let him do it, Oh my gosh.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: Like and because we also knew at this point that
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: there was going to be a season two, So I knew.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: I don't think Matt did, because Matt never likes it
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: when I tell him, oh, this has been greenlit for seasons, like,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: he likes to be surprised by those things. So I
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: knew that it was going to continue, but like, you
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: don't know how it's going to happen, obviously, and especially
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: when the dude takes a hit to the back of
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: the head, So which is I always questioned why his
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: helmet had to be removed because his helm has made
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: a best card, So how does head get damaged the
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: inside of You think the inside was like he rattled
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: his head so hard.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's basically what it was. It like it It
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: wasn't damaged from the outside going in. It was the
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: blunt damage from the inside of the best guard helmet.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: And that's why I needed an injection of back to
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: instead of like over the top.
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: Well and like and that was the other thing. I
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: was like, the way that the droid. He explains it,
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: I actually gotta chuckle out of the CPU.
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: Your cpo's been damaged.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: He's like, you mean my brain. He's like, yeah, that
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: was meant to be a joke. That was to calm
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: your nerves.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: But like, my.
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: Question is I know he was joking in some sort
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: of sentiment, but like, did ging Jarren actually have brain damage?
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: Because if he did, I feel like that would affect
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: the character and could kind of lead to the kind
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: of decisions he's made in season two and season three.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: And we could all blame it on the fact that
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: he hit his head too hard inside of his own helmet.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: You know, you're not.
- 1:25:31Speaker 2: Just a random thought to be a miracle worker at least, so.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: That is true. That is true. But we do get
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: the the ohso emotional goodbye two. Oh my goodness, oh yes, hi,
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: do you eleven? Do you eleven? I'm dying.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: I'm like trying to hold it a cough, don't die, smooth,
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: just your mic.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, there we go, there we go. So we
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: do say goodbye to IG eleven in this episode, and
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: again learning the lesson that he's learned. We also get
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: a little bit of an emotional goodbye because Ig eleven says, Hey,
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: you don't have to be sad about it, It's just
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: my programming. He's like, I'm not sad. He's like, I'm
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: a droid. I literally just scanned your voice, your octaves.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: This is the kind of behavior that a sad person has.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: So again leaning into a newer jinjar and already and
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: then it does leave us this very open ended season two,
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: right I the dark say revealed though, Yes, that was
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: That's the big thing, and that's what I was gonna
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: bring up the fact that, like we have our first
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: show of Disney plus first Star Wars show. Hey, not
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: a lightsaber in sight?
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: And then.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: Out of nowhere the dark Saber dark Saber comes out
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: and you're like, holy shit. But also quick thought of
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: mine when I first watched the season was hey, why
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: do you have? That was more of a thing for me.
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: Uh And I really, of course was excited to be like, Okay,
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: what does that mean for season two? What does that
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: mean for where the Dark Sabor has been since then?
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: You know, which was really really fun to think about.
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: Of course, we got more of those answers with season
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: two and season three and all of that excuse me, so,
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: like I do still think that in retrospect of everything
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: does Mandalorian Season one has Does it have its flaws? Yes, Yeah,
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: definitely has its flaws. Do I still think it's a
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: damn good season of television? Yes. It gave us the
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: It gave us freaking Bryce Dallas Howard director h and
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: I'm grateful for that.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: It gave us Ludwig Gorenson.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: Which, by the way, I again listen what like having
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: the episodes on the background today I'm mostly listening to
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: the dialogue in the music and I'm like, oh my gosh,
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: this is just so good, like and like nine times
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: I'm ten now when I'm reading, I actually put on
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: like Star Wars, like the TV show soundtrack this because
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: like it's like, don't get me wrong, John Williams still
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: very iconic, but like this like is more like modern style.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: Love it. I just love it.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: And and the one thing that I like about the
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: modern style of Star Wars compared to John Williams is
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: that modern has way more lows. Yeah, then, because because
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: classic Star Wars has a lot of bomb bastic like
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: oh like very loud, very like in your face. It's
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: like boom, boom boom, but using.
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: This basal tone. Yes, And I don't know basel is
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: the right word. I'm not the musical oriented one, but.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: I know what you're talking about, like getting getting what
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: we do have in Mandalorian. You're able to breathe through
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: the music, and that's what I enjoy about it as well. Yeah,
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: but what about you final thoughts first? For season one.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Retro, I genuinely like I was so excited with how
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: well done this was and just the way that it
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: was able to jump off Star Wars television. I know
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: there's been lows and highs with the Mandalorian ever since,
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: but I really enjoyed this and how it was able
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: to step things off in such a good direction. I
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: love all the guest characters that we get, all the
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: main acting characters, like really spectacular casting decisions in the
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: whole zone for this music. I can't talk about the
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: music enough, so I'm just gonna leave it at that,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: like it's spectacular. Yeah, I definitely think like this one
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: is good. I still think I'm interested to see how
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: we approach season two next week, because obviously guys were
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: going into our retro for season two next week. H
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: With that with me saying that, but we're gonna do
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: it a little bit differently because we've talked about the
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: individual episodes for season two. But I remember season two
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: is my favorite, so I'm curious to see how that
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: talk goes next week.
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: I mean, for the fact that we get to see
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: a creat dragon in season two, you know, was like
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: the really big thing for me, Like that was like
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: the really big thing. Uh. Oh, my computer, do you
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: see me at all? Am? I still see you?
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: To wrap it up? Okay, you have frozen?
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: Oh no, do you still hear me? I still hear you. Okay,
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: you're kind of like, okay, let's real quick.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: Wrap it up.
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: So that way we'll wrap it up. Yeah, real quick.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: My other monitors just completely froze out on me. So
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: uh with that, guys, thank you for being here. You
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: can find me fan boy Clay everywhere else. Uh okay,
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: hold on, Am I back? Am I back?
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: Okay? Cool? Uh fan boy Clay any and all social media.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: There could possibly be some big news coming in the
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: next few months, uh, for the future of Volume Comics.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: I could actually say that because Volume Comics has technically
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: already like pre pre pre pre pre launched and I've
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: already talked to you about it, but some bigger news
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: is actually in the works. So yeah, really fun stuff
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: and hopefully I can share with you guys all of
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: that very very soon in the future of Star Wars Alliance.
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: I've actually had a lot of fun thinking of some topics,
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: and one thing that I do want to go ahead
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: and let you guys know about is periodically this year,
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: you're gonna hear us talk about rankings. It's one thing
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: that we have not done a whole lot of when
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: it comes to the bigger part of our show, which
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: being the books. So we're gonna be doing a lot
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: of rankings for the stuff that I have read, and
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: then of course periodically throughout, you know, the next years
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: that we have this, we're gonna try and do the
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: current years that we're in. So in December, I do have, like, hey,
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: every book in twenty twenty six that we have read
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: that released that year, we're gonna rank them. And that's
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: more so just to kind of keep everything kind of
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: categorized and have the because one thing that me and
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: Katie have definitely figured out is the types of content
- 1:34:32Speaker 3: that we don't have on the show, and so keeping
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: that in line periodically throughout the years will help us
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: with other topics to kind of squeeze into the schedule.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: There's a couple that I do have already in the
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: works in the schedule that I think we're gonna have
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: a lot of fun with, so I'm looking forward to that.
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: But yeah, guys, that is all from me, Katie. What
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: about you, y'all?
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: You can find me on most social media platforms except
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: for Twitter at Slay Katie. This show you can find
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: on Blue Sky, Instagram, and threads. It's at Star Wars
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: line so at the A in the wash very important,
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: don't forget it. You can also take that user name
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: and slap it in front of at gmail dot com
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: to shoot us an email and just remember, guys, give
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: us a way to reference you for the show. We
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: love hearing from you guys. So with that, I want
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: to wish everyone a great day or nick whatever time
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: of day you are listening or watching, and we will
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: see you'll next time. May the four should be with you.
